Allison Guy: This Petco might be good for other things, but the conditions their birds are kept in are nightmarish. The parakeets do not have adequate perches of different sizes, any chewing toys, and they are fed on a cheap, unhealthy all-seed diet. I also watched as a woman pried open one of the plexiglass doors and let a budgie escape. As for the parrots, well, have a look at the photo — a tiny enclosure with no opportunity to climb, chew, fly or have social interaction. Same unhealthy seed diet, water bowls full of droppings. Their heads were full of painful pin feathers because they had no bird or human companion to groom them. Imagine sitting on the same perch in a glass box all day with nothing to do, for weeks and months on end. This is absolute torture for such a smart, social animal.
carolyn jackson: My son and I love, love, love this store. We are here every week doing a fish tank water sample test. The manager Donnell in the fish dept. Is very nice, helpful. knowledgeable, and professional. He and the staff are always ready to help you in any way. It a fun store to shop.
Dani Rios: We casually visited this store and left with the best impression. The nice cashier seemed sincerely interested in learning about our puppy and gave us some great tips about the excessive chewing. We regret not asking her name, she was a nice African American lady. Thank you!
Sarah Levine: I did a puppy training class with Jen and she is an excellent trainer. She understands dog behavior and how to use positive training to get results. My puppy started off hating going into the store and by the end she was dragging me in because she was so excited to go to class. I highly recommend taking training classes with Jen.
Courtney: Jill was so helpful and informative—just got a puppy and she helped us find the right cleaning spray for accidents in the house. The store was clean and organized. Will be coming to this Petco in DC from now on!

Summer Bryant Campell: Mr. Darnell was very knowledgeable and compassionate about the proper living space, food and bedding for the newest addition to our family our guinea pig. You can tell he loves animals and wants the very best for them. Ms. Alexis, who was at the register when we bought our guinea, gave her a check once over and reminded us to check our guinea’s ears, nails and reminded us of possible bald patches that can be caused by ring worm and / or mites. She was also very caring and showed our guinea lots of love. The professionalism, and customer we experience each time we shop at this Petco keeps us coming back.

Nathan Lapin: It was easy to make an appointment with Collins hospital for animals. They followed COVID-19 procedures ensuring safety for both themselves and us, as well as our pet. They came out and got our pet and called us when they were almost done. Then they had us watching how they trim our pets nails, which is really helpful going forward. Watching them with our pet made us feel like he was in good hands. They were gentle and kind with our pet, which put us at ease. This is definitely a prime place to take an animal to the veterinarian! I highly recommend.
Samantha Horn: I have taken both my dogs to Collins since moving to DC. They have affordable vet care. The staff is very caring. The vets are empathetic and truly care about the animals. They have even referred me to AFFORDABLE outside places when something could not be performed in house. 10/10!

Stephane Carnot: i have been going to Collins Hospital for the last 10 years as they are near my house. every time you leave them a message even for an emergency they do not call back. I call them last week because one of my dogs was having a huge growth on is face that was painful that appeared in the last 2 days. it was a teeth infection. luckily there is Friendship hospital that helped me and my dog out.

Not sure why that happens but it does, daily. I believe your voice mail was one of those. Tisha Mondal: My experience here was great. It was my first time going to a vet after adopting my cat Marbles. Dr. Fischer was wonderful and very attentive to Marbles. She took her time to explain things I needed to know & took a lot of care in answering the questions I had. Unfortunately, I had to change to another animal hospital near my house as this place is a bit far. I thought that in cases of emergencies, it perhaps would be better to have a clinic nearby. Collins Animal Hospital is still the best and I wish it were closer.

Wendy Wilson: I am so pleased to have found Collins Hospital. I switched over a year ago from my previous vet, because of proximity - one of my cats hates car rides. I have had very good service and have been especially impressed by Drs. F and C. When I lost a cat to illness last year, these women were professional and compassionate, two important qualities in a vet. This morning, one of the staff members managed to squeeze me in for a last minute appointment, after I discovered a sore on one of the cats. Finally, for DC - and in particular - Upper Georgetown, their services are reasonable.
Annaliese Nurnberg: Love that Collins treats exotics, like my pet rabbit. My poor bun had a congested nose and had been sneezing a lot, so I decided to take her in. This was my first visit to Collins, and I was impressed. Dr. LaPorta was very nice and explained everything so clearly. My rabbit usually gets very stressed out when she has to go to the vet, but she seemed far less freaked out than usual. We got the treatment she needed without spending too much time or money!
Carly Whitmer: We had the most fantastic experience with Dr. Cabaniss with our two guinea pigs. She was in no rush, took her time explaining everything and made our two girls feel right at home and comfortable. Her tech, Darcy, was also great and was gentle and comfortable. We highly recommend Collins Animal Hospital. Wish we could give it 6 stars!

MICHAEL WALLOVER: I own a rabbit. What many would consider a normal pet is actually considered exotic by veterinarians. Finding Collins Hospital was great. Not only do they know how to handle animals, but they explain things very well and have nail clipping appointments. There is no question that I will be heading back to there many more times.

Marie Rose: Very helpful store. When I originally bought my fish on Wednesday June 22nd I ran into some issues caused by me being a first time fish mom. And I lost 3 of my Cardinal Tetras, which the owner offered to replace for free. The owner was very helpful and informative on how to fix stuff for the future which was very helpful. The following day June 23rd I came in to replace the couple fish I lost and get some new ones. The manager on duty Michael was very helpful and explained more in depth of how to acclimate my fish properly. Definitely will be coming back. Very happy I was able to support a small buisness that actually cares about there fish.

John Dobbs: Michael the manager was super helpful and knowledgeable. The entire staff was fantastic. They are experts and had tons of patience helping me understand what I needed to setup my new 75 gallon tank. Their fish tanks are super clean and they have an amazing selection. All there tanks are individually filtered to avoid cross contamination which is pretty standard in most pet stores. This is the only place I will purchase fish from now on. Highly recommend.

Never seen an aquarium supply merchant keep the store so clean. Sanitation is a priority here. Edit: constantly improving! Rare fish galore! So many stingrays and plecos! The salt water section keeps seeing new additions.

Aiden Bundy: Went here today looking for a snake and was immediately welcomed into the store. They let us hold the snakes we were interested in and were very knowledgeable when it came to snakes. It’s a very professional workplace and everyone there was extremely friendly. Perfect place to find an exotic pet. We left the store with our first ever exotic pet and couldn’t be more pleased. Erica Chrismon: I got my sweet boy Lycan (use to be named Kenny) the werewolf Guinea pig from here just 2 days ago! We have been looking for the perfect piggie for a while and he was the perfect fit! We went to the vet for his first visit today and got a 100% clean bill of health. He is scheduled for his neuter surgery next week:) We loved him so much that I went back and got him 2 new friends today. I love this pet store all the animals are cared for, clean and handled often. All of the employees are always super friendly and always willing to help with any advice or suggestions. I have been coming here once a week for years sometimes daily lol for all my exotic pets needs. For the amount of animals they have it’s does not smell and all the pets always have fresh food and water. I will continue to come here for all my pet needs and my new exotic babies!!! (The shavings on him are from his travels lol!) I could not be happier he was so over looked for so long! He ended up right where he needed to be!

Heather M: I’ve bought 3 rodents from them (chinchilla,rabbit,and Guinea pig) everyone of them died within a month (we cared for the animals that perfectly) paid a vet to do an exam on the bunny we got that had a seizure and died in our arms turns out they sold us an extremely sick bunny which makes me wonder if all the rodents are sick when they are sold. I will never buy anything from this store again. My daughter is traumatized!

Preston Burns: We stopped by here to look. My daughter really wants a bird. We’re undecided about the commitment. As we looked around at the birds we were impressed with the number and types of birds that they had. The store is small, which I have found is typical of independent pet stores, but the love and attention that they give their birds makes all of the difference. The young birds are still hand fed with a syringe. They wait until they are well trained and socialized before selling them. They also wait to clip their wings until they have fully developed. You can put down a deposit on a bird and then wait to take possession until the bird is ready. You can also board your bird there. Kency was really terrific. She brought out her bird, Snowball, a super loving cockatoo, and let us handle him. We also held a young cockatiel and a love bird. She was so patient and it was obvious that she loves the birds. She made my daughter super happy which was such a blessing. This is a small store, family owned and operated. On our second visit we met the owner, Ed. The customer service is intimate and they are caring people. We love the store and will be back
stephanie wood: Love love love. What an amazing place! The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. All of the birds are handled regularly and readily brought out for interaction with potential customers. They also help rehome birds and board birds (in a private room). All of the animals (even the rehomes) appear to be in excellent health. The cages are clean, the water is fresh, and the enrichment that’s available for each of the birds is excellent!! I cannot recommend this establishment more highly. It’s one of my favorite places to visit.
Frances Martin: Absolutely wonderful establishment! Very welcoming, caring and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful variety of beautiful birds. My daughter recently lost her 2 close birdy tiels and we went there for a little emotional lift and support in getting through her grief. I am so glad we went. Though it will still be a hard road of grief for her, this company sure lifted our spirits and started a small light in maybe her considering a new birdy one day. Thank you guys! Yousef Alrajhi: The reason I gave 2 star because I was refer by my friend to this store. He bought cage of birds for 45$. When I came one week later they told me the same cage is for 79.99$. So they change price in one week or they gave price of cage from their head to each customer.
Sarah Khan: I wonder if Pat still works there. We bought three birds from her 21 years ago. Two of them are still going strong! They are so affectionate, they are amazing. They have become part of our family. American bird company is the BEST place to buy a bird. Highly recommend!
Brandon Leuschen: The owner, Ed, was awesome! He made me feel welcome, was knowledgeable, and patient with me as I made sure I was choosing the correct bird for me. I ended up going with a plum headed parakeet, who was very hand tame and friendly from the day I first met her. Ed showed me everything I would need, recommended a vet, and even gave me his cell phone number in case I ever have any issues. I will 100% be going back to his store for whatever I need and boarding during vacations!

Kyla Burkey: Brandon was extremely knowledgeable and helped me with the process of getting a new bird! He let me hold one I was interested in at the store and I gave him my deposit for the love bird that will be ready in a few weeks when they no longer need hand fed. The love birds are just tiny things now (see picture) but his shop is definitely worth the drive from Pennsylvania. So many variations and unique animals like Axolotl’s, reptiles, ferrets, saltwater aquatics, and so much more! Him and his staff are great and all of his animals look happy and healthy :) I almost left with more than one bird because they all had such sweet personalities due to the care and attention they’ve been given.
Yumeko Java I: I used to come here often with my dad, who sometimes buys fish here, and I have loved every visit. There’s never any pressure to buy anything, and everyone is so friendly. I recently purchased 2 budgies along with a quarantine cage and was given a great deal! Unfortunately one of the budgies turned out to be blind (but otherwise healthy and happy) so I had to return her, but I was given another bird free of charge and was shown where the blind bird would stay and be cared for. (She’s currently with a blind cockatiel in a cage where she can easily access what she needs, i’m very happy) Everyone at the shop clearly cares so much for these creatures, and every time I come here I have a lovely experience! I’d rate 100/10 if I could. I’m attaching a photo of my two new birdies in their temporary home!
Mikki Macklin: Brandon and his crew are the legit best. My younger sister, mother, and I went because my sister wanted a turtle. She left with two and is the happiest ever. The atmosphere is very welcoming along with every person working in the shop. They know about what they are doing and you can tell they love it and care for their customers. The price was very reasonable and would definitely go here to buy another pet. Overall. Great. Experience!

Stephen G: Worked with Brandon to get a couple animals. He was a wealth of knowledge, replied quickly and effectively. We had some mishaps with fedex, but all followed through, animals arrived and they were as described. Very happy with the customer service and will go through them again for future purchases. Update. Received snakes late in the day, left them alone overnight and looked at them the next day. They are COVERED in mites. These were sold to me as mite and disease free. I have a very expensive collection so I’m hoping it didn’t spread. No responses to my texts or pictures sent to the owner.
Matt Irwin: Such a great place, employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. We love the iguana we got from them. They helped us with picking out the right cage, lighting, and iguana. We drove a hour and a half just to use them. Update, my iguana died a few days, I contacted Brandon the owner, he wouldn’t take my calls or call back. So I’m changing my review and will never go back to this shop since they don’t stand behind their sales I’d suggest going else where.
Amanda Gary: Highly recommend this place. Brandon is super helpful and knowledgeable. We bought our uromastyx lizard from him and could not be more happy. He even put together a tank with all the lizard would need until he grows into a larger one, which he included in the price! We will def. be coming back!

maria temple: I live about 35 minutes away from this store, and I will never go anywhere else for my small animal needs again. They have an excellent selection of toys, treats, hides, food, and cage accessories. Not only that, but their prices are so reasonable for a local pet store. The employee working with the small animals (Alex?) was very knowledgeable about general rat care and involved in the upbringing of the fancy rats in the store. I just purchased a pair of male rats (drex/rex), and I will be back for another pair once the dumbos are old enough to be adopted. I appreciated that their double rex variety of rats still have eyelashes, whiskers, etc., which indicates to me they responsibly breed. I also appreciated the associate asking about the cage I own and checking my ID before showing me the rats. It shows me that they care about the homes these animals go to. The pair of boys I purchased are well socialized and very friendly. They’re taken very well to their new environment- they are so full of life and strong! All the rats in their care at this time have healthy coats, are very alert, and are also very curious!! They seem happy to me. I attached some pictures of the ferrets I got while I was there. So cute!!

Go here absolutely disgusting this is the dirtiest pet store I’ve ever been to first an last time ever I went to this store cause I saw it online an was excited cause I love the reptiles but this store was not what I was expecting at all tanks everywhere dirty moldy animals cramped in tanks under shelves birds in cages stuffed in corner there is way to many reptiles an rodents stuffed in the same tank the tanks for reptiles are way to small lady tried to tell me big tanks stress them out like are you kidding I saw a fish that was bigger than my hand in the smallest tank on a shelf dirty as hell there’s tanks on tops of the shelves full of dirt an rotting plants you can even see behind the counter is a disaster this place needs to be shut down ASAP!!!!!!

Anthony Torres: Drove almost a hour here not worth it. They have good enclosures and animal supplies but not animals. All of the animals from birds to fish and especially the reptiles are kept in the most disgusting way ! The whole store smells and the animals are being neglected I don’t even know how this place is still open the way it is kept. So much potential because the store is so big. That being said I would never purchase a animal here of any kind because of the way they are kept and treated.

Richard, from The tarantula collective YouTube channel, recommended this vendor ( it’s up on his website - resources tab) and I’m so glad I got to buy from them, my T’s were greatly package and healthy. Carrie Ann Kramer: I ordered a ~2in DLS B. hamorii from FangzTV and Tom was great! He let me know as soon as he knew when the spider would ship. When the tarantula arrived, it was in perfect health! It got a hilarious case of the zoom zoom’s when I tried to put it into its new enclosure, which was quite amusing. I normally give my T’s a few days to settle in a bit before offering food but, with the energy this little guy (or gal) had, I dropped a cricket in that night and it went to town on dinner! It’s been a voracious eater ever since. If I could give 10 stars, I absolutely would! Thanks so much Tom!

Francisco Vizcaino: They have zero empathy for their customers. They are simply in the business to make money, whether they provide adequate service or not. We purchased an animal from them, which unfortunately passed away within a week of bringing it home. This was not due to our negligence, as we spent countless hours researching proper care, buying products, and planning beforehand. We spoke with the owner, and he told us that since we had not purchased our products from their store there was nothing he could do. Mind you, their inventory is always 15-20% more expensive than competitors, which is why we went somewhere else in the first place. After reading other reviews and speaking with people who have bought from them, I see my experience is not unique. How is it possible that they sell animals that suddenly die, and then have such a ridiculous policy in place?? I advise anyone looking for a pet to look somewhere else.

Two of the employees were really rude, if my son was not so happy with the bunny and the owner was not so awesome…. the rest were great and Super helpful! They have a variety of exotic animals. As for their supplies, I’d go to Pet Smart for. Just purchase the animal at Pet World!

They seem like they genuinely care about the well-being of our animals whether if it’s from the store or not. Although it does seem that the other employees don’t care about jack. It is always worth going there because I can trust that the animals are in good condition compared to other local competitors. I would recommend going here!
kat pihulic: I bought a bunny rabbit from them and was told it was a male so I got to more male bunnies. A couple of days ago the first bunny I got that was told is a male had babies. Do not believe them when they tell you a animal is male or female. Please check for yourself.

V R: I took my new baby cockatiel there cause I thought she was having intestinal trouble. They did a full bloodwork and stool sample and the best check up I’ve ever had of any animal. They are great vets I would take any of my animals to them. Dr Bailey called me back and gave me a detailed health report down to her wings her feet strength her inside of the mouth down to her feathers. Dr Bailey is highly recommended.
Waleed Rashid: I have a pet female Alexandrine parrot. She is the most gorgeous thing ever, but lately she stopped making noise and began exhibiting courting behaviors. She started plucking her leg feather which terrified me so I immediately took her in. They gave me amazing advice on parrot care and stopping bad behavior. Best thing-they gave her a hormone implant and within a week it made such a HUGE difference. She’s backing to saying words and stopped feather plucking. Her leg feathers completely grew back. So happy. Thank you!!!

I’ve been bringing all my bunnies to this veterinary office for years, usually they are seen by Dr. Nielsen (who we love!!). Today I had to put down my heart bunny, Rex, and Dr. Hartzler and Katie his nurse, went above and beyond to make sure my best friend was cared and comfortable in his last moments. Saying goodbye to a beloved family member/best friend is always incredibly hard and painful, but I am honestly so so thankful that we were able to give him a peaceful and gentle passing. I will continue to bring my bunnies to seavs because I trust that my exotic friends are in the most caring, capable hands of this amazing team of professionals here.

Sure 200 to see my animal but adding 500 just to see my animal because they didn’t have any openings, and was an emergency. That’s 700 just to get my pet through the door! That’s too much, and that’s not including any of the treatments my animal would need. I’m so grateful to the place I did go to feathers, scales, and tails vet clinic. They made time for us and we’re amazing! All of their staff were super kind, and helpful. The appointment, ex ray, special food, and the three medications my pet needed was all together 224. I am definitely going back and I appreciate how they treat their clients and their furry babies.

It’s always an amazing experience and the staff is super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly Especially Ben! He’s the man. I’ve been going here for years since the first location and he’s always been my go to guy for any thing my wife or I may need or want. You can call him at any time of the day when you have a question or issue and he will walk you through any thing you may need help with step by step. I would highly recommend anyone taking a trip to NJ exotic pets to ask for Ben and he will guide you in the right direction to finding the perfect animal, enclosure, food or toys etc. He has a vast knowledge of everything to do with almost any animal in the store and he has a true passion for what he does. that always makes the experience better when you know the person helping you will give you the proper tips and care guide to successfully take care of your animal and feel confident doing so. If you need anything invertebrate related be sure to ask for mike. He’s my go to guy for most things spider/invertebrate related. He has great knowledge of anything and everything to do with spiders, roaches, millipedes, mantids etc. he’s even kind enough to let you know when new shipments of certain species you’re looking for comes in if you just leave your number with him or at the desk. This place is truly a blessing to animal lovers they have everything you can think of and if they don’t chances are they may be able to make it happen and order it for you!

Charles E: Very well done event. Vendors were friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Great selection of reptiles, amphibians and other exotic creatures. Great place to bring your kids. Prices were very reasonable. I would like to see more vendors handle their animals more. With some it did seem like it was just business and not about the animals.
Acen Eastridge: Only one small vendor had crested geckos and prices were alot higher than other shows. We drove 2 hours with money to spend but all we came back with was a box of 1000 crickets, and when we opened the box ALOT of them were dead! I was very disappointed in this reptile show!!!

Cindy Khademi: This is a great place to buy your birds. I had the best experience when I visited their store. The owner was super nice. He delivered my cage, put it together and helped me with my new African Grey adjust to my new home and cage. The staff were professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the cages, toys and of course the birds. They made me feel good and comfortable with buying my bird. They have a large selection of toys. I will be getting all my birds needs there. Awesome place!!!

My family and I drove 1 hour to get there and Google maps said it was open for 11:00AM and when we got there it was closed we saw people there walking inside the store. And it was 11:00 already and we went to ask when is it going to open and they siad that 12:00. I told them that I needed a cage if they can tell me if they had it and the two people I asked just went in and lock the door keeping us outside while they went to check. It took them 8 mins to see and Call me that they had no cages. This is how stores lose money and Customers and not even one cage available and they pointed where they store the cages and it was a horrible mess in the back there was broken cages and trash. I will not be coming here anymore this is unacceptable.
