Reformation Fitness: what do users think?

DC Techie: Wanted to love the class/studio but had a mediocre experience. Few modifications provided during abs class made for a precarious situation for first timers. Teacher did not seem to notice anyone but the regulars. Room was packed. The sequence went too quickly. Given the class type, may have benefited from less moves or more repetition so we could work on form rather than struggle to get set up. Positives: clean studio with water dispenser and lockers. Variety of classes offered. Good AC and cool temperature in classroom

Bonafide Experiment: IMO, this is the best gym in DC. Love the energy of trainers and attendees here. The trainers are inspiring, professional, and attentive to each one’s posture and growth. They also have a supportive community where you feel welcomed even when you come here for the first time. I have been following their virtual classes but can’t wait to go back and take pilates classes when the summer ends.

Jennifer Rowley: I love all of the instructors doing group reformer classes. Everyone is talented in their own way and I always get an amazing workout. It's a bit of a distance from where I live and work, and parking (if I drive) can be stressful, but I keep going back b/c it's worth it. I feel comfortable and the instructors know my name which is really nice.

Allie Medack: Awesome classes. Every time I go, I know I’m going to get a great workout. Whether you’re a beginner or someone who has worked out for years and loves to be pushed, the instructors tailor the class to your intensity levels and needs. This is my favorite studio in DC.

Taylor Dankmyer: My favorite gym in the district. Love the variety of classes & instructors. For the Metcon/HIIT classes, I love that each week is a different focus (power, strength, or endurance) and each day is either lower, upper, or full body. It's also easy to scale the workouts down or up based on your ability. I've always felt super welcome & comfortable here.

Izaak Beekman: Amazing gym. Great #RefFitFam community. Other patrons are friendly, supportive and encouraging. Instructors are motivating without yelling at you, always helping you dig deeper and ask more of yourself. Programming is well structured and varied. This is not the type of gym to go to if you want to admire yourself in the mirror or find a date. Each class will ask 100% of you and you'll leave happy, exhausted and dripping with sweat.

Elizabeth Matts: I love reformation fitness! It's close to home so super convenient and has quickly become my go-to workout place - so much so that I purchase monthly packages so that I can go all the time and without the restriction of classpass. Everyone is super friendly, the instructors are professional and incredibility skilled at their craft. They do a fantastic job of pushing us outside of our comfort zones but always in a safe and controlled way. And I value that the instructors whose classes I got to regularly have made the effort to learn my name. I like that there is a nice mix of class options that I can choose from including: Spinning, TRX Fusion, MetCon, Bootcamps and Reformer Pilates, as well as classes offered at 7.30pm on a weekday evening. The Saturday Sweat sessions are my favorite and always set my weekend up right. All in all a very convenient place to workout, clean and modern equipment, friendly atmosphere and fantastic fitness instruction all in one.

Lauren Kane: The trainers know you by name and it feels like a community. Any issues with passes are resolved swiftly and effectively. Really awesome staff. I moved from around the corner from the gym to all the way out in Maryland and I will still gladly drive the 40 minutes to go to a class at Reformation Fitness any day.

Caitlin Baker: The workouts are always well thought out and challenging and the teachers are awesome. The studio has a great community feel and the prices are reasonable. My favorite workout studio in DC!

Bidisha Roy: Love the studio vibe, humble but refined atmosphere, group reformer class size, professionalism, and quality/precision of instruction. RF is unparalleled for group reformer classes. Not cheap, but reasonably priced for the area. Instructors and students occasionally engage in light, sparse conversation, which is fine. I've been to a few other studios where the instructors and students converse constantly, which i find distracting, isolating, and unprofessional. Not RF though :)

Fuse Pilates®: what do users think?

Caroline Cunningham: Just returned to Fuse Pilates after a three year break and several injuries. Working out with Tori and Liz made me feel strong and resilient. I literally cried after class today knowing that my entire back was moving again and in a careful and meaningful way. I forgot how good Fuse teachers are they really help you build your strength while listening to your needs. ONWARD!!!
Response: Thank you, Caroline. We love seeing you back at the studio!

Areeba Hasan: I've taken mat and a ladder class at Fuse, and I have loved every class. The instructors have been great, Saba is amazing, and I've had a great experience. I've never done pilates before, and I get super anxious in new settings but this has truly been an amazing experience. Highly suggest taking the classes! They're difficult but in the best way possible!
Response: Thank you for trusting us with your Pilates journey, Areeba. Looking forward to seeing you more.

Bela Leao: Fuse Pilates is by far my favorite studio in DC! I truly enjoy the classes as well as the availability of different instructors and teaching styles. The instructors are creative and fun, demonstrating in-depth knowledge and ability to work with our individual needs. Very importantly, they ask about any injuries and help people modify, if necessary. The owner is also amazing and passionate about pilates, certainly conveying this passion to her clients. Moreover, the studio’s customer-focused approach ensures the delivery of a superior level of service at Fuse.
Response: Dear Bela, Thank you for the lovely review. We love seeing you at the studio.

Christine Rice: I did my first class at Fuse Pilates and did the back to the basics reformer. It was a great way to start and get acquainted with reformer pilates. I recommend this to anyone who has thought about starting pilates! Dani was a great instructor for first timers as well. I didn't feel lost or confused at all!
Response: Thank you, Christine. We enjoyed having you at the studio. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Erin Darbouze: The studio is beautiful and the instructors are the best in DC. I feel safe, supported, and always get a great workout. I cannot recommend Fuse Pilates enough!
Response: Thank you for the lovely review, Erin. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Laura Cilmi: I absolutely love coming to Fuse Pilates! I leave feeling fit, accomplished and less stressed. And then the soreness kicks in! The instructors are knowledgeable and will help each student based on their needs. The owner is amazing and will work with each student to find the right package for their individual goals.
Response: Thank you, Laura. We love seeing you at the studio and online. Thanks for being part of this amazing community.

James Morrison: Fuse is an amazing physical studio space with a variety of top notch instructors. I like that there are instructors who are super gentle and others who will make you sweat. I haven't been in the physical studio since the pandemic but I've streamed some classes, which have all been great. I always feel welcome at Fuse, and the ability to buy a bundle of passes makes the price right.
Response: Thank you, James. We look forward to seeing you soon online or in studio.

Whitley Cargile: I took a private pilates class with Dani at Fuse and she was awesome! She gave great modifications for my injuries and the class was the perfect difficulty level. Definitely going to become a regular at Fuse!
Response: Thank you, Whitley. We loved having you all and looking forward to seeing more of you soon.

Monette Melanson: Fuse is great. I have been taking classes off and on here since 2008 in its various locations but when COVID hit, they immediately began zoom, and it saved my sanity. I take pilates mat classes almost every day and have for the duration. The instructors are all excellent. The workouts are varied. It’s just never boring and I always feel invigorated after a class, no matter who the instructor is. They also offer a variety of machines classes at their studio on 14th St. Give them a try! They are fabulous!!!
Response: Thank you, Monette. Love having you in our virtual classes.

Sarah Nguyen: I've been going to Fuse Pilates for the last year and they are great. They have small class sizes so you get to know the regulars and teachers, who can dedicate more time with you. I go to the Reformer and Ladder pilate classes and they have great equipment and challenging classes. During COVID-19, they had online zoom classes too which are great. I enjoy classes from Tori, Dani and Joe. The owner Saba is lovely too!
Response: Thank you, Sarah. We love seeing you at the studio. See you soon.

Reformation Fitness – Cap Hill: what do users think?

Gladwin Gilman: Had my first class ever in my life and to say I enjoyed myself is an understatement. I’m on the curvier plus size and felt included and welcome in the class. It was small and vaccination records were required. Our instructor Natalie Rico made us feel even more welcomed and she was so patient and we are 10000 percent coming back. If you’re not a typical fit lady with abs and previous Pilates experience try a class and ask for Natalie.

Response: This person isn't affiliated with our business.

Makeda V: I have been coming to DC Pilates for a few months now and I'm hooked on the challenging reformer workouts, attentive instruction and fun vibes! For me, one class/week was enough to see more definition in muscles in my arms and legs. I can't recommend this place enough!

District Pilates: what do users think?

Grace Caldwell: The best Pilates in DC! I have never in my life looked more forward to workout classes. Everything is wonderful.

cassandra smith: This place repeatedly wins best of DC because it is the best Pilates reformer studio anywhere. And they are the most affordable reformer studio in the area. The teachers are EXCELLENT, the classes are small and tailored to your needs, and they have tons of top of the line equipment that you don’t find elsewhere, including the chairs and the towers. I’ve been going since they opened and I’ve never been stronger and leaner.

Grace Fennell: Born and raised in DC and this is by far the BEST pilates studio I have ever been to! Bailey is an amazing instructor who not only really takes care of all her clients - but makes pilates entertaining! If I could go everyday, I would!

Maryann Chan: I came to District Pilates for both mat and reformer classes, and had Laura as an instructor, who was great! She was very knowledgeable and helpful to our class. It seemed like many of us had athletic backgrounds, but the exercises (especially the reformer ones) were challenging, and I definitely got a good workout in. I would definitely recommend that others take classes at this location!

Jessica Bedour: Best studio and instructors in the city, HANDS DOWN!

Holly Sparks: Hands down the best Pilates studio in the area!

Stella Fortier: My favorite Pilates studio.

Master Gardener: Excellent location and good experience for our staff

Twist Pilates and Fitness: what do users think?

Joanne Conroy: i first met Ryan in 2008 when I joined a local Pilates studio after relocating from NJ. I have been training in Pilates since 1998 and Ryan is one of the top instructors i have worked with. He is really knowledgeable about the kinetics of our musculature and the impact on posture and function. His workouts are always a challenging mixture of strengthening, stretching and balance. I left DC in 2014 but try to train with him whenever I am in DC!
Response: Hey Joanne, thank you for sharing your experience and leaving us a great review. We sincerely appreciate the support.

kathe williamson: Ryan is a fabulous trainer and Pilates teacher. He gives his clients amazing personal attention, listens carefully, and makes every workout challenging and different. His knowledge of anatomy and the requirements and needs of many different sports is a wonderful combination. While his specialty is Pilates, he’s also helped me with weight training, walking, TRX, and has lots of experience in martial arts. I’ve been to a zillion exercise teachers over the years, and he is one of the very best. Georgetown/DuPont Circle is lucky to have him!

Thomas Gottschalk: I have had Ryan as my trainer for nearly ten years. He is terrific. Very knowledgeable, pleasant, and easy to work with. Knows several different exercise regimes, Pilates, TRX etc and is very good at solving strength and pain issues, as well as developing overall fitness. He really understands anatomy and how one muscle or ligament affects others. Tailors your workout to your needs and preferences.

Matthew Buzby: Great place. I found it kind of by accident as I was just searching for a Pilates class. It was something I wanted to try out but there were so many studios and individual coaches it was hard to tell which one was right. I saw an ad for Twist and I checked them out online and really liked the philosophy and stories. I tried it and was pretty much hooked. Ryan is a great teacher and explains everything in detail. He is patient and very knowledgeable about how the body moves and connects. He will help you work on improving and never pushing yourself too hard. But it is a workout and I am sweating at the end of each session. But also feeling very relaxed too.
Response: Thank you Matthew, for your wonderful words and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience working at Twist Pilates and Fitness. We value feedback so that we can become an even better company. We are pleased to know that you love the facilities and working out at our gym.

Bettina Richman: I had never tried Pilates before coming to Ryan. Soon I absolutely loved it! I found myself getting stronger and the back pain that I had for years began to subside. Having experienced back issues of his own, Ryan was particularly awesome at adjusting exercises to make them appropriate for my situation. I would highly recommend anyone experienced or not to take a class with Ryan!

Cindy Cisneros: Looking for a great Pilates studio and teacher? Check out Ryan Hodgkinson in his new studio space at 1560 21st Street, NW in Dupont Circle. Ryan is a longtime Pilates instructor, personal trainer, and martial artist with extensive knowledge in physical health. He helped me become stronger and increase my body alignment, especially following invasive major surgery. His clear enthusiasm for his work also helps support his clients in achieving their health goals.

Carol Wakefield: Ryan is the very best pilates instructor. He tailers your workout to meet your bodies needs. I have been going to Ryan for over 8-years and highly recommend him to anyone who wants to remain fit throughout their lives.

Elements Fitness & Wellness Center: what do users think?

Eva Meier: Jessi at the Elements Center is seriously amazing! My physical therapy session with her was thorough and made me feel like I was really being heard. Her evaluation of me was in depth and she explained what she was seeing as she went along which I really appreciated. When I expressed my concerns with dry needling and acupuncture (I'm a fainter...), she helped ease my worries by walking me through how the process is beneficial, and how she takes a unique approach of combining needling with manual work in order to let my nervous system calm down (and I didn't pass out!). I walked out feeling significantly looser and like I didn't have to guard my body as much. I will definitely be back in for more sessions!
Response: Thank you for this review, we deeply appreciate you taking the time. And I agree Jessi is pretty terrific 😁

Leith Bernard: At Elements I have had experience with physical therapy for my stiff shoulder and for my gait that was causing knee pain. I received both expert instruction and practice, and have since continued with gyrotonic classes to keep myself stretched, flexible and strong. They provide the best anti-aging exercises I have found. In addition, the Elements staff, as well as the studio space, is inviting, warm and lively. A perfect spot in the middle of DCs stressed life style.

Valerie S.: When a friend literally dragged me to Elements six years ago, I had no idea that it and they would change my body. I had had some big deal leg surgery and had years long compensations from these leg issues -- which I didn't realize were as bad as they were. I had been a young athlete but now I was a past middle age person who had done gyms and work outs consistently over the years. I'd also been in PT for years. Little did I know that I had wound up at a place with the most amazing, dedicated and focused body movement specialists and physical therapists. Now, years later, I know I will never stop going to Elements, doing private sessions and Gyro classes. Gyro-tonic is a unique system that strengthens, shapes and lengthens all the muscles in the body. (I seek out Gyro studios when I travel.) While my purpose was to get my body and my gait "fixed," Gyro and Elements wound up transforming my body, building muscle (in all the right places). I get compliments about how I look all the time, and now I wear tight clothes and feel great in them. But most importantly, I feel terrific in my body. I will never quit. Now I'm going to focus on balance and strength, so I'll stay this way forever! Elements and all the folks there couldn't be better, or nicer. Everyone who goes there loves it. Thank you Elements Family!

Rebecca Haase: I have been seeing Justine at Elements for about 2 years to strengthen and use muscles that were not functioning properly resulting in pain. Whenever I leave the Elements Center, I feel wonderful and invigorated. The instructors tailor each session to the individual client depending on their range of motion and strength. I definitely feel it is making a difference in my strength and flexibility. I look forward to each session.

Ellie Clarke: I had a wonderful experience at Elements Fitness and Wellness with their Physical Therapist, Dr. Ariele Foster. I had been suffering from a repeat injury that just would not seem to heal. After working with Dr. Foster and using my homework physical therapy exercises, I am now 6 months without an incident of that repeat injury and feeling much stronger and more balanced. The prices are very reasonable and it was worth every penny to feel better. I highly recommend it!

Adriana R: This is an intimate, well equipped studio where I've been taking gyrotonic and gyrokinesis classes for the past 3 years - the certified and master instructors are excellent, each with their own teaching personality, great in creating well flowing, balanced sessions. The group classes are small allowing the instructors to focus on the individuals. These are great exercises for posture alignment, balance, mindful breathing, overall body and mind relaxation. Take a private Gyrotonic session prior to joining intro group classes to get accustomed to the equipment and technique. There are specials sometimes on the Elements website.

Kacey Connolly: The PTs at Elements are all top notch. I have been to dozens of therapists across the city and I have never, ever worked with a more talented, dedicated team. I feel so fortunate to be working with them!

Evelyn Fine: Best Pilates studio I've been to. Instruction is excellent and well tailored to various physical needs. Also a really nice place.

Heike Yates: A wonderful, relaxing atmosphere with well seasoned teachers. I highly recommend Gyrotonics, Pilates, as well as Physical therapy at Elements.

Sherif Hassan: Awesome experience and highly qualified friendly instructors & physical therapists in a very warm welcoming environment that will get the best out of you and teach you more about your body and movement in general. Keep up the great work guys 💪🏽😬🤟🏽

She can connect with anyone on a personal level and help each client achieve his/her goal individually. I've been happy and healthy since I started receiving Heather's lessons and taking Pilates more seriously. The studio is always very clean and beautifully designed. Her beloved dog, Beau, welcomes me with so much love that going to the studio makes it a truly special experience as well.

[solidcore]: what do users think?

Jessica Nakano: This is an amazingly intense and challenging low-impact workout! Its a great workout to push you physically and its exactly what I had been looking to get me back into a routine. The coaches at Mt. Vernon studio are really positive and superb all around. They each make the workout something to look forward to in the best way. They take so much care and time to guide you through specific moves and remind you of good form. I highly recommend this workout and the studio if you are looking for new addictive workout.

Jessica Corley: Always an intense 50-minute workout. The coaches are consistently prepared. The classes are pricey. The variety of class times is extremely helpful. The sound system can also be deafeningly loud, so they offer earplugs.

Alexa Eversman: [solidcore] is the place you want to be if you are looking for an intense, challenging, and motivating workout! 50 minutes of isolated muscle tension with a core focus. you are guaranteed to leave feeling both exhausted and accomplished! outside of the workout itself, mt. vernon is stacked with some of the best coaches in the DMV - positive & motivating, great playlists, and tough sequences. try a class, you won’t regret it!!

Lauren Berger: Solidcore is a fantastic workout. I am challenged every time I walk in the door. The negative reviews do not make any sense. This location is incredibly easy to find. They send you an email with clear instructions. The team is phenomenal. They are always motivating and approachable. I was super nervous when I first started, but it is great to be apart of a fitness community that supports you at all fitness levels. Mount Vernon or BUST!

Taylor Howard: Such an amazing workout. I know it sounds cliche but you should really go to about five classes before you make a final judgment on it. I found it took several classes to really start to understand the form, but once I had that good foundation I really found a lot of value in these workouts. I like that every class is different from the previous class, the music is always great, and I’ve never had a bad instructor. My only advice I would give to anyone is that it’s okay to take a second to breath and then focus on form if you become overwhelmed in class. The classes do move fast. Classes are pricey but about the same as any other boutique gym in high rent areas of dc.
Response: Taylor, thank you so much for an amazing review filled with great advice for first time clients! It's true that it can take a few classes to learn how to approach class and we are so glad to hear that [solidcore] has been valuable for you. Thanks for being a part of the Mt Vernon [community]!

Sena Kim: My favorite workout place. Wish to have more balanced workouts; core-upper/lower body since the classs spends most of the times into abs exercises.

ethan mathews: You're better off spending the ~ $35 per class on new workout gear and just holding a plank for an hour in a sauna because that's about all you do at this place. Music so stupid loud you cannot understand a word the instructor says. Hugely overrated. And no, the instructors do not provide feedback. They drone through an hour of instructions that are hardly discernible due to the music, even after you explain to them that they are inaudible. There are about 8 people per class and people are rarely doing the same movement because it's so difficult to understand the instructor. I'd recommend you take the feedback and use it to improve rather than get defensive, because I assure I am not alone in my opinion of your "gym". In closing, 0/10 lame "workout".

ANA SANTIAGO: Went to my first class today and it was great, definitely will be going back! I highly recommend if you are looking for a great workout.

Kevin Carey: Amazing, intense workout, great instructors and facilities. Nothing else like it.

Meghan Mapes: Professional ethics suck! As a personal trainer, client confidentiality is always respected.

Feeling stronger and more capable provides a degree of personal confidence that I find quite gratifying. The instructors at the Excel studio are knowledgeable, as well as helpful and encouraging. Their interest in my performance inspires me to try harder. It also helps that they all seem to have the patience of Job. I’m a senior citizen and I’ve had my share of sports- and exercise-related injuries over the years. I appreciate the expert guidance and oversight provided by the instructors at the Excel studio. Their expertise imbues in me a confidence to attempt challenging exercises that I probably shouldn’t even consider, much less attempt, on my own. Thanks to the instructors, I have surprised myself more than once with what I am able to do. After a workout at Excel I feel invigorated. My energy levels are higher and I feel satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. Good health and fitness are not things that simply occur—I must work for them. I believe that if you want to be active, you must stay active. I recommend Pilates at Excel Pilates as a good way to be active for almost anyone.

Alix Myerson: +The Excel Studio has a welcoming environment with friendly, knowledgeable certified Pilates instructors. +Diverse clientele from across the city and suburbs encompass all ages, backgrounds and abilities, including those in recovery from major illness. +For the past two years, my weekly private sessions with Michelle Mendelson have made an enormous difference in managing serious chronic back pain. +++I highly recommend Excel Pilates!

Louisa Buatti: While I have only taken Reformer classes here, I found the instruction at this studio top notch! Teachers have many years--if not decades--experience with the Pilates Method. Administrative staff members are friendly, helpful, and responsive. The studio is bright, airy, and very pleasant overall. I recommend it highly to anyone interested in studying classic Pilates!

Sherwood Va: Excellent instructors and facility. I've been taking one on one classes for three years and can see improvement in my strength and flexibility. I have scoliosis, and my instructor at Excel was willing to modify the exercises to accommodate my back problems.

Laura Jackson: I love this pilates studio! Firstly, the space is so welcoming and peaceful; the tones are warm and the lines are clean. It's perfect for helping you focus and flow. The staff and instructors are all wonderful as well. I'm a beginner and Rachel, my instructor, has been so helpful with getting me acclimated to the form and movement of pilates and it has changed my life forever!

Jacqueline Emanuel: I've been a student at Excel for over 20 years. It's a world class studio with fantastic teachers in a beautiful space that is not only spotless, it's easy to get to via metro, bike, driving or walking. The attention to detail, emphasis on the care and safety of each individual client, (while you're getting your butt kicked in a class or private) is unlike any other studio on the east coast.

Chris Frates: An amazing studio with a great vibe. Their incredibly knowledgeable instructors teach to your skill level. You will look and feel better in no time. I highly recommend Stefanie. She's my favorite teacher.

Lois Nembhard: Very welcoming atmosphere. Everyone I have dealt with has been helpful and pleasant. The instructors make a point of remembering your name and are really attentive (whether one-on-one or in a group class). I’ve learned a lot and plan to keep going.

Francie Israeli: Spotlessly clean studio, small group classes, very individualized instruction. Excel adheres to the classic pilates methods. Jacqueline is a super instructor! Highly recommend.

Maria Salvadore: Thanks to Excel Pilates for consistently having exceptional staff, always responsive and talented in a supportive enviornment., I credit them for lessening my back issues and for overall feeling stronger and more resilient.

Capital Pilates Studio: what do users think?

Alan Lang: This is the place for quiet (no music) classical Pilates where you focus on your body and healing. If you’re in need to get back to basics or you’ve never learned the proper way to move your body, then you need to get here and sign up. Once you understand the benefits of proper form you’ll be able to take a class from anyone and just make your own adjustments. The best!
Response: Thank you very much Alan, deeply grateful-CPS Team of teachers

Mary Salander: At 70, I walked through the door at Capital Pilates into a pristine studio surrounded by an abundance of windows and light, and two years later twice a week am filled with anticipation for another session with Fidel Garcia. I have benefited greatly. My mobility, balance, and general well-being have been enhanced. Fidel is a caring, gentle, patient, and gifted instructor. He teaches body mindfulness to varied skill level students with discipline and grace. His career as a dancer and his experience as a teacher combined with his passion for pilates makes working with him a transformative experience. After each session – I walk out of the studio with a brand new body! If you are looking for a pilates instructor, go no further. I give him my highest recommendation.
Response: Thank you very much, we are honored you give us such a great and positive review. Deeply grateful.

brittany laeger: Was glad I found this studio when moving to DC! Classically-based, the studio and its instructors are wonderful. I have been able to tell the difference in my body -- am stronger and more aware of my connection to mind and body.
Response: Thank you very much for your kindness Brittany! We love having you at the studio!

RTR Pilates - Palisades, D.C.: what do users think?

Marie Lee Song: The ultimate pilates place! All the instructors are truly excellent. RTR has been doing wonderful jobs during the pandemic to keep the facility safe and clean. Personally I love to work out with Janine as her design of the 50 minute class consists/emphasizes not only toning and stretching, but also building up muscles and strengthening the entire body. Also love her slightly faster pace which makes students fully engaged and excited, and her explanation/tips on how each form should executed- I have better understanding now and enjoy even more.

Isabelle Drake: Every instructor is patient and gives one in one support as needed. The actual workout is excellent for building strength and flexibility - different instructors allow for varieties in exercises which keeps things fresh for students. Scheduling classes is easy and convenient with the RTR app.

Meredith Shue: Love RTR Palisades (and Friendship Heights). I've never had a bad instructor or class and always leave feeling better than when I came in. Great modifications for all levels in each class, always a variety of moves.

Emily Doyle Knarr: I attend class at RTR 3-5 times per week, and I cannot say enough positive things about it. All the instructors are excellent, and you have many options to tailor each class to your level. The instructors are constantly introducing new moves so that you do not get bored. My strength and flexibility have greatly increased since starting Pilates classes, and working on the reformer is much better than floor Pilates. I highly recommend RTR.
Response: Thanks, Emily!

William Minor: RTR Pilates remains the best choice in the area for Pilates. The facilities are great, the teachers are wonderful, reserving a spot is simple, and the classes are challenging.
Response: Thanks, William!!!

Colleen Doremus: The instructors are all excellent and the studios have been a sanctuary during the last year. They have done an amazing job of keeping them all clean and I am grateful for everything they do to make it possible for us to continue to attend classes.

Tatiana Williams: RTR Pilates always puts the client first. They have gone above and beyond to keep us safe and have the studios clean. All of the teachers are well trained and friendly as well. If you are looking for a full mind and body workout, RTR Pilates is for you!

Emily Weiler: I had just signed up for the 30-day introductory offer because it is a really good deal. Signing up for classes is very simple and convenient. Reminder e-mails are valuable to me and makes it easier to keep track of sessions. Also the offer really makes you commit to working out every day to get your money's worth. I am highly considering getting a membership, and the points system is nice as well. I really enjoyed my afternoon class with Margaret. Since I wasn't a regular, she greeted me and asked me a couple of questions. Throughout the exercise she gave me some attention and really went out of her way to help me with my positioning. Plus she plays great music. On my way out, she complimented my form and really encouraged me. Overall, this is an enjoyable experience. It is a good break throughout the craziness of the day. If you are a first timer, I recommend going a bit early to get some of the basics. The classes tend to just jump right into the exercises, so it is easy to get confused. Fortunately, I had taken pilates before, just not at this location. Clean, relaxing studio.
Response: Thanks, Emily!

Amie Burke: Don’t hesitate to give RTR Pilates a try. The instructors are great and there are a lot of choices for class times and locations. Check out the web site for a lot of information. I started out as a beginner and with the help of the instructors have greatly improved. Amie Burke
Response: Thanks, Amie!

Gabrielle Loperfido: I loved my class yesterday. Fun jump-board variations which I'd never done. I loved the explanations about what each movement was doing and all the detailed attention to correct form and how very small adjustments make a big difference in how to best engage the core. I've been doing Pilates for a little over a year. I feel so much stronger now than a year ago!
Response: Thanks, Gabrielle! We try to keep it fresh and focused!

Toolbox Pilates Art Studio: what do users think?

Paul Baldwin: I’m new to the neighborhood, but feel right at home at Toolbox. I started coming once or twice a week to take morning reformer classes in March, but in the past four months I have slowly filled most every day of the week with all that Toolbox has to offer. Each instructor has their own style and the studio offers reformer, chair and corealign.

Peyton Doyle: Obsessed with Toolbox. I’ve only attended a few reformer classes, but love it already. Crystal was patient and encouraging during class. Location is unique and not hard to find– just enter alley behind Bareburger. Easy peasy. The space itself is stunning...intimate, well lit and so cozy. I am already looking forward to my next class here.

Jessica Cain: As an event planner, I'm constantly looking for amazing venues in the area. I recently coordinated a wedding at Toolbox Pilates Art Studio and I can't wait to work there again. Not only is the space phenomenal, but the staff is great as well. I'm so happy my couple chose this location. I recommend this space to anyone for any event (wedding, birthday, corporate, etc).

Rimas: I am not going to lie, saying that, Toolbox Pilates Art Studio is a venue, like no other I have seen! It welcomes and intrigues with a red door, the inside of the building is no less amazing, full of spectacular works of art, and a huge round window to sum it all up. No matter, how you look at it, Toolbox Pilates Art Studio is one of the most artistic, romantic and creative venues in Washington. Having Your wedding here, will make the day the most memorable event, not only in your life, but in Your guests lives too! RimasFilms had the best experience filming a wedding here.

Plamena Kirova: I have tested out almost all Pilates studios in the DMV area and this is by far THE BEST. The building is beautiful and all the instructors are knowledgeable and pleasant. Overall just the best!

Kalina P: Best Pilates Studio Ever! Iva is a professional, friendly instructor who truly cares about her clients, very good quality of live stream classes. The studio consistently providing fantastic online mat classes:)I feel empowered each and every time!

Margaret Michael Mills: Irena is a true professional and pursues her job with joy and energy. Wonderful facility. One suggestion: its stated address is 1627 Connecticut and that is impossible to access. Please post a permanent sign on 1627 as to how to actually access the facility. Why this has not be done before is a mystery. Please correct it now as older people tend to rely on addresses and this causes a bit of an issue. Other than that major matter, the studio is a wonderful venue and Irena is the gem in charge. Sincerely, Michael Mills, the father of the bride.

Ernest DC: In addition to being a pilates studio it's a venue for events. Very small and awkward. Excellent and manageable for event around 75 people.

Mantas Kubilinskas: As a wedding photographer I was very impressed by this place. It's very artsy, modern and unique place for weddings and other events. Highly recommend this place for weddings and other kid of events!

Kat Kennon-Morris: What a lovely place for a wedding!♥

Club Pilates: what do users think?

Cairistìona Dancing: I really enjoy the studio, the classes, and the instructors. I have no prior experience with pilates reformers, but I think they are magic. The staff is very mindful of injuries or limitations, and management was extremely helpful when I needed to take a pause to recover from an injury. It is a bit more expensive than I would normally want to pay for exercise, but it is so much more in line with my body goals and really helps build mind body connection. I look forward to more classes becoming available.

Hills Walt: I was super excited to join the intro class with my friends today with hopes to purchase memberships for the 3 of us but unfortunately this place has absolutely no grace period. We were literally 3mins “late” and wasn’t allowed in the class with no prior knowledge of this (no grace period) policy. Had it been communicated to us we could’ve rescheduled instead of wasting gas traveling. I’m still interested in starting Pilates but I will not be returning here , simply because I don’t like the way we were treated.

PPK “PPK DC” K: Instructors are very good. Website good. Flexibility and managers are Awful. Cancelling membership and will never be back.

Megan Jenkins: I love the staff at Club Pilates! They are so engaging and kind. The classes are great and the instructors clearly know their stuff! It is refreshing to find a place with management this great in DC.

Sunsandsurfgal Sunsandsurfgal: One star is being kind. The studio itself is dirty. The filtered water machine has dirt and gunk at the base. The bathrooms aren't clean and mold in the toilets. Coming from a very busy studio in another state which is always clean, I found this completely unacceptable. These are lazy franchise owners and terrible instructors and Claudia in particular comes across as lazy in her manner of teaching. In fact, the instructors at this location are not all fully trained. They are subs and apprentices. The classes are rarely full which might also say something. Maybe they can't add more advanced classes because their level 1 and 1.5 are pathetic. One instructor brought her dog to class which whined which distracted the instructor from the class. I experienced incorrect direction regarding how to do certain moves, inability to timely que so you can transition between moves without spending lot of time getting into position among other problematic issues that are inconsistent with the foundations of pilates. There was essentially no stretching at the end of class and limited footwork to warm you up...although the classes themselves are so weak, what's the point. I have passport and have taken classes with very experienced pilates instructors and won't go back to this location or Bethesda. Maybe club pilates shouldn't just hand out franchises and should be more worried about their brand and give franchises to instructors who are fully qualified and take their business and the practice serious.....and maybe clean you place of business.

Ellen Ruina: I enjoyed classes, but their membership policy is terrible. I was charged despite specific instructions-- approved by the manager-- not to auto renew. When I complained, they refused to reverse charges because I had not completed cancellation paperwork that they did not provide to me when I informed them I didn't want to be on auto-pay. They've lost my business and with business practices like these, watch out! Too bad because the classes and equipment were good.

Aída Romero: I love this studio! I had come last year and it was always very clean, everything was sanitized between classes and the instructors were GREAT! My posture improved, my back pain decreased, and I felt stronger, leaner, and definitely noticed an increase in my flexibility. I am so happy to be back at the Tenleytown studio!

Angelina: Members and interested parties BEWARE! This is an unethical, toxic and predatory business. Avoid this studio and it’s arrogant general Manager Manager at all costs. After following the complicated process and cancelling my membership, the GM manually auto renewed my membership with my bank account on file without my permission, over-drafting my account. All emails, calls and visits to reverse the charge were ignored. Like predatory insurance companies, this studio banks on the hope that you’ll give up, get busy or simply fatigue from fighting them. It’s abhorrent, privileged behaviour. Save yourself the headaches and find Pilates classes elsewhere.

D. R. Smith: I'm so glad I found Club Pilates during the pandemic! They are clean, respectful of social-distancing requirements and very professional. I enjoy the Reformer "Flow" workouts, but I love that every session is different, so it's never boring. They do a great job of incorporating other tools into the workout, such as box, chair, ball, Bosu, TRX, etc. I also appreciate that they tell you how you can modify exercises if you have an injury or you're just not up to it that day OR if you want a bit more of a challenge. I've never been much of a joiner, but I'm glad I've joined this Club. I've lost weight, feel better and actually enjoy working out. I never thought I would say that!

diane q: I’ve attended more than 50 classes, and absolutely love everything about Club Pilates. The studio is always very clean, staff are very friendly and attentive to people w injuries. The workouts are perfect for me, and I look forward to going as many days a week as I can.

District Pilates: what do users think?

Nara McCray: A lot of potential for this place! They have a great locale, not many other studios in this area. Their website is a pain to navigate on a phone. It's also quite easy to accidentally sign up for a class in their Shaw location. They don't refund after you make this mistake, which they informed me happens all the time. They should improve accessibility by updating website, getting an app, or integrating with ClassPass. I signed up for 5 classes with a beginner package special. I went to schedule my 2 remaining classes a month after purchasing and they were gone! The paid classes should not expire so quickly. Sad to have wasted so much money, esp. since I missed another with the Shaw booking accident. I hope they can improve and remain open!

Claudia María Gutiérrez: Upon performing an extensive research on my eating habits and analyzing my anatomy, Madie performed a comprehensive nutritional program specially tailored for my needs. It helped me greatly. I learned a lot and I feel much better. I fully recommend her services. In addition, she's a lovely coach!
Response: Thanks Claudia

Stacey A Herndon: Madie is an awesome Pilates instructor. She has been a tremendous partner in moving me along my Pilates and weight loss journey. Her expertise has been invaluable in making accommodation for a prior injury. Her studio is impeccable with most any tool one could need to be challenged. Plus Madie is one of the most positive and supportive people I know. I highly recommend her!!!!!
Response: Thank you so much Stacey!

Maria Abousleiman: I have used Madie's dinastretch services for about 2 years. I suffer from a back disc and have chronic pain in my back and neck. Madie's sessions were the highlight of my week. She performed a targeted stretching that immediately relieved my pain and made me feel so good that I always felt like falling asleep afterwards. I highly recommend Madie's services to anyone with a back or neck condition. Maria Abousleiman (Lebanese living in Colombia)

Marie-Josephe Descas: Thanks to Madie I turned things around regarding my physical well-being and self-esteem (Yes, it’s all connected for me!). Starting with individual pilates classes and gradually including new eating habits, I went on exploring further what my body needed. Madie’s patience and faith in me made the whole difference. She was instrumental in my decision to reconnect with my body and outlook on life when I turned 50. I must admit I first wasn’t as applied as I should and could have been (“Procrastination” was then my best friend). Today, I am proud to say that I work out regularly (4 times a week).
Response: Thank you very much Marie Jo.

Adela Carrasco: n October 2014, I joined Madie for the full detox cleanse. Madie spent time with me prior to the begining of the cleanse to carefully explain each step and purpose of the cleanse. It was a wonderful experience, I learned so much about myself; the cleanse helped me to better connect with my body. At the end I felt so light, energized and empowered. I have taken the cleanse and it's lessons with me; this is not just a one time experience.
Response: Thank you very much Adela

Lisa Carr: Highly recommend Plus Pilates! Kelly is exactly the kind of instructor you want...she knows her stuff and keeps an eye out for form and will individualize for your needs. Beyond that she is great at challenging and motivating you whether you're a newbie or well seasoned in pilates. A great workout in a totally chill atmosphere with really nice people. You can't ask for better than that!

Ebony J: +Pilates Studio is AMAZING! Friendly and welcoming fitness environment. I took Kelly’s Pilates class and although challenging, she is a hands on instructor ensuring that posture is correct and that you are getting the most out of your time and effort on the reformer. The class is fun! Highly recommend!!
Response: Thank you Ebony - it was great to meet you and have you in class!

Gloria Roman: +Pilates class with Kelly at Balance Studios is one of the best in Washington!! her knowledge, friendliness, care for each participant and her no-nonsense approach makes her a great instructor, I took my first class with a great deal of hesitation but after meeting Kelly and taking my first class I became a regular participant.

Gaines Hurdle: I drive past 3 other Pilates studios to get to Plus Pilates. Kelly’s instruction is worth the drive!!

barre3: what do users think?

Denise Recinos: I've been going to Barre3 for almost two months now, and I've loved it! I didn't know what to expect, but it's been such a great workout experience. The class instructors keep you moving and the music pumps you up as well. If you're looking for a workout that puts your body to work and is still fun, I highly recommend Barre3!

Kathleen Schwarz: After having my first child, I had a hard time finding an exercise class that allowed me to reconnect to my core muscles, adapt moves for my current abilities and range of motion, not strain a recovering pelvic floor, and still be challenging. The classes at barre3 have checked all these boxes! I’m already noticing much more stability in my core and the glute strength I’ve been missing after only one week of attending. I’d definitely recommend this for someone returning to exercise postpartum!

Kristen Sharpe: I've taken several classes with different instructors, in-person and via zoom with Barre3 DC and each one has been great! The instructors give modifications for every fitness level and the workouts are full-body without being hard on your joints. Trust me, muscles you didn't even know you had will be sore!

Nhu Girl: If you’re new, I like to say Barre3 is a mixture of Zumba, Yoga, and Ballet techniques combined. It’s fun, upbeat and challenging. They offer a lot of time slots so it’s easy to schedule a class into your day. Parking is easy to find and love their location.

Jessica Goodman: barre3 DC studios (Clarendon, Navy Yard, Union Station) consistently provide a stellar workout and a wide variety of options to keep me engaged and successful during workouts. The staff and members are very welcoming and non-judgemental. Highly recommend.

Elizabeth Charash: Great classes!! Love an early morning workout and it is so nice to have so many options throughout the week. The instructors are great and the studio is a nice respite from a busy day.

Gwen Cummings: I love this studio! It's conveniently located, immaculately clean, and feels like an oasis after a long work day. I've been to three classes so far and have yet to be disappointed in an instructor. I'll definitely be going regularly.

Mathea Pielemeier: Barre3 instructors are always friendly, energetic, and welcoming! It’s a great low impact workout and good combo of cardio & strength work.

Abby Balmert: Barre3 is by far the best barre studio in the DMV area - much better than PureBarre or BarreMethod. I love the instructors' energy and the combination of cardio, yoga, and classic barre moves. The ball, sliders, bands and weights make for great props and an intense workout. I always work up a great sweat - and shake - while I'm here!

Cally Perkins: Barre3 Navy Yard is a great experience. Impressive studio with plenty of space and fun instructors who keep you energized and going! Highly recommend.
