Reformation Fitness: what do users think?

DC Techie: Wanted to love the class/studio but had a mediocre experience. Few modifications provided during abs class made for a precarious situation for first timers. Teacher did not seem to notice anyone but the regulars. Room was packed. The sequence went too quickly. Given the class type, may have benefited from less moves or more repetition so we could work on form rather than struggle to get set up. Positives: clean studio with water dispenser and lockers. Variety of classes offered. Good AC and cool temperature in classroom

Bonafide Experiment: IMO, this is the best gym in DC. Love the energy of trainers and attendees here. The trainers are inspiring, professional, and attentive to each one’s posture and growth. They also have a supportive community where you feel welcomed even when you come here for the first time. I have been following their virtual classes but can’t wait to go back and take pilates classes when the summer ends.

Allie Medack: Awesome classes. Every time I go, I know I’m going to get a great workout. Whether you’re a beginner or someone who has worked out for years and loves to be pushed, the instructors tailor the class to your intensity levels and needs. This is my favorite studio in DC.

Lauren Kane: The trainers know you by name and it feels like a community. Any issues with passes are resolved swiftly and effectively. Really awesome staff. I moved from around the corner from the gym to all the way out in Maryland and I will still gladly drive the 40 minutes to go to a class at Reformation Fitness any day.

Caitlin Baker: The workouts are always well thought out and challenging and the teachers are awesome. The studio has a great community feel and the prices are reasonable. My favorite workout studio in DC!

Fuse Pilates®: what do users think?

Caroline Cunningham: Just returned to Fuse Pilates after a three year break and several injuries. Working out with Tori and Liz made me feel strong and resilient. I literally cried after class today knowing that my entire back was moving again and in a careful and meaningful way. I forgot how good Fuse teachers are they really help you build your strength while listening to your needs. ONWARD!!!

Bela Leao: Fuse Pilates is by far my favorite studio in DC! I truly enjoy the classes as well as the availability of different instructors and teaching styles. The instructors are creative and fun, demonstrating in-depth knowledge and ability to work with our individual needs. Very importantly, they ask about any injuries and help people modify, if necessary. The owner is also amazing and passionate about pilates, certainly conveying this passion to her clients. Moreover, the studio’s customer-focused approach ensures the delivery of a superior level of service at Fuse.

Erin Darbouze: The studio is beautiful and the instructors are the best in DC. I feel safe, supported, and always get a great workout. I cannot recommend Fuse Pilates enough!

Laura Cilmi: I absolutely love coming to Fuse Pilates! I leave feeling fit, accomplished and less stressed. And then the soreness kicks in! The instructors are knowledgeable and will help each student based on their needs. The owner is amazing and will work with each student to find the right package for their individual goals.

Whitley Cargile: I took a private pilates class with Dani at Fuse and she was awesome! She gave great modifications for my injuries and the class was the perfect difficulty level. Definitely going to become a regular at Fuse!

Monette Melanson: Fuse is great. I have been taking classes off and on here since 2008 in its various locations but when COVID hit, they immediately began zoom, and it saved my sanity. I take pilates mat classes almost every day and have for the duration. The instructors are all excellent. The workouts are varied. It’s just never boring and I always feel invigorated after a class, no matter who the instructor is. They also offer a variety of machines classes at their studio on 14th St. Give them a try! They are fabulous!!!

Reformation Fitness – Cap Hill: what do users think?

Gladwin Gilman: Had my first class ever in my life and to say I enjoyed myself is an understatement. I’m on the curvier plus size and felt included and welcome in the class. It was small and vaccination records were required. Our instructor Natalie Rico made us feel even more welcomed and she was so patient and we are 10000 percent coming back. If you’re not a typical fit lady with abs and previous Pilates experience try a class and ask for Natalie.

District Pilates: what do users think?

Grace Caldwell: The best Pilates in DC! I have never in my life looked more forward to workout classes. Everything is wonderful.

cassandra smith: This place repeatedly wins best of DC because it is the best Pilates reformer studio anywhere. And they are the most affordable reformer studio in the area. The teachers are EXCELLENT, the classes are small and tailored to your needs, and they have tons of top of the line equipment that you don’t find elsewhere, including the chairs and the towers. I’ve been going since they opened and I’ve never been stronger and leaner.

Grace Fennell: Born and raised in DC and this is by far the BEST pilates studio I have ever been to! Bailey is an amazing instructor who not only really takes care of all her clients - but makes pilates entertaining! If I could go everyday, I would!

Maryann Chan: I came to District Pilates for both mat and reformer classes, and had Laura as an instructor, who was great! She was very knowledgeable and helpful to our class. It seemed like many of us had athletic backgrounds, but the exercises (especially the reformer ones) were challenging, and I definitely got a good workout in. I would definitely recommend that others take classes at this location!

Jessica Bedour: Best studio and instructors in the city, HANDS DOWN!

Holly Sparks: Hands down the best Pilates studio in the area!

Stella Fortier: My favorite Pilates studio.

Master Gardener: Excellent location and good experience for our staff

Amanda Bernstein: Love

Twist Pilates and Fitness: what do users think?

Joanne Conroy: i first met Ryan in 2008 when I joined a local Pilates studio after relocating from NJ. I have been training in Pilates since 1998 and Ryan is one of the top instructors i have worked with. He is really knowledgeable about the kinetics of our musculature and the impact on posture and function. His workouts are always a challenging mixture of strengthening, stretching and balance. I left DC in 2014 but try to train with him whenever I am in DC!

kathe williamson: Ryan is a fabulous trainer and Pilates teacher. He gives his clients amazing personal attention, listens carefully, and makes every workout challenging and different. His knowledge of anatomy and the requirements and needs of many different sports is a wonderful combination. While his specialty is Pilates, he’s also helped me with weight training, walking, TRX, and has lots of experience in martial arts. I’ve been to a zillion exercise teachers over the years, and he is one of the very best. Georgetown/DuPont Circle is lucky to have him!

Thomas Gottschalk: I have had Ryan as my trainer for nearly ten years. He is terrific. Very knowledgeable, pleasant, and easy to work with. Knows several different exercise regimes, Pilates, TRX etc and is very good at solving strength and pain issues, as well as developing overall fitness. He really understands anatomy and how one muscle or ligament affects others. Tailors your workout to your needs and preferences.

Matthew Buzby: Great place. I found it kind of by accident as I was just searching for a Pilates class. It was something I wanted to try out but there were so many studios and individual coaches it was hard to tell which one was right. I saw an ad for Twist and I checked them out online and really liked the philosophy and stories. I tried it and was pretty much hooked. Ryan is a great teacher and explains everything in detail. He is patient and very knowledgeable about how the body moves and connects. He will help you work on improving and never pushing yourself too hard. But it is a workout and I am sweating at the end of each session. But also feeling very relaxed too.

Bettina Richman: I had never tried Pilates before coming to Ryan. Soon I absolutely loved it! I found myself getting stronger and the back pain that I had for years began to subside. Having experienced back issues of his own, Ryan was particularly awesome at adjusting exercises to make them appropriate for my situation. I would highly recommend anyone experienced or not to take a class with Ryan!

Cindy Cisneros: Looking for a great Pilates studio and teacher? Check out Ryan Hodgkinson in his new studio space at 1560 21st Street, NW in Dupont Circle. Ryan is a longtime Pilates instructor, personal trainer, and martial artist with extensive knowledge in physical health. He helped me become stronger and increase my body alignment, especially following invasive major surgery. His clear enthusiasm for his work also helps support his clients in achieving their health goals.

Carol Wakefield: Ryan is the very best pilates instructor. He tailers your workout to meet your bodies needs. I have been going to Ryan for over 8-years and highly recommend him to anyone who wants to remain fit throughout their lives.

Elements Fitness & Wellness Center: what do users think?

Leith Bernard: At Elements I have had experience with physical therapy for my stiff shoulder and for my gait that was causing knee pain. I received both expert instruction and practice, and have since continued with gyrotonic classes to keep myself stretched, flexible and strong. They provide the best anti-aging exercises I have found. In addition, the Elements staff, as well as the studio space, is inviting, warm and lively. A perfect spot in the middle of DCs stressed life style.

Rebecca Haase: I have been seeing Justine at Elements for about 2 years to strengthen and use muscles that were not functioning properly resulting in pain. Whenever I leave the Elements Center, I feel wonderful and invigorated. The instructors tailor each session to the individual client depending on their range of motion and strength. I definitely feel it is making a difference in my strength and flexibility. I look forward to each session.

Ellie Clarke: I had a wonderful experience at Elements Fitness and Wellness with their Physical Therapist, Dr. Ariele Foster. I had been suffering from a repeat injury that just would not seem to heal. After working with Dr. Foster and using my homework physical therapy exercises, I am now 6 months without an incident of that repeat injury and feeling much stronger and more balanced. The prices are very reasonable and it was worth every penny to feel better. I highly recommend it!

Kacey Connolly: The PTs at Elements are all top notch. I have been to dozens of therapists across the city and I have never, ever worked with a more talented, dedicated team. I feel so fortunate to be working with them!

Heike Yates: A wonderful, relaxing atmosphere with well seasoned teachers. I highly recommend Gyrotonics, Pilates, as well as Physical therapy at Elements.

Sherif Hassan: Awesome experience and highly qualified friendly instructors & physical therapists in a very warm welcoming environment that will get the best out of you and teach you more about your body and movement in general. Keep up the great work guys 💪🏽😬🤟🏽

[solidcore]: what do users think?

Jessica Nakano: This is an amazingly intense and challenging low-impact workout! Its a great workout to push you physically and its exactly what I had been looking to get me back into a routine. The coaches at Mt. Vernon studio are really positive and superb all around. They each make the workout something to look forward to in the best way. They take so much care and time to guide you through specific moves and remind you of good form. I highly recommend this workout and the studio if you are looking for new addictive workout.

Jessica Corley: Always an intense 50-minute workout. The coaches are consistently prepared. The classes are pricey. The variety of class times is extremely helpful. The sound system can also be deafeningly loud, so they offer earplugs.

Alexa Eversman: [solidcore] is the place you want to be if you are looking for an intense, challenging, and motivating workout! 50 minutes of isolated muscle tension with a core focus. you are guaranteed to leave feeling both exhausted and accomplished! outside of the workout itself, mt. vernon is stacked with some of the best coaches in the DMV - positive & motivating, great playlists, and tough sequences. try a class, you won’t regret it!!

Lauren Berger: Solidcore is a fantastic workout. I am challenged every time I walk in the door. The negative reviews do not make any sense. This location is incredibly easy to find. They send you an email with clear instructions. The team is phenomenal. They are always motivating and approachable. I was super nervous when I first started, but it is great to be apart of a fitness community that supports you at all fitness levels. Mount Vernon or BUST!

Taylor Howard: Such an amazing workout. I know it sounds cliche but you should really go to about five classes before you make a final judgment on it. I found it took several classes to really start to understand the form, but once I had that good foundation I really found a lot of value in these workouts. I like that every class is different from the previous class, the music is always great, and I’ve never had a bad instructor. My only advice I would give to anyone is that it’s okay to take a second to breath and then focus on form if you become overwhelmed in class. The classes do move fast. Classes are pricey but about the same as any other boutique gym in high rent areas of dc.

Sena Kim: My favorite workout place. Wish to have more balanced workouts; core-upper/lower body since the classs spends most of the times into abs exercises.

ANA SANTIAGO: Went to my first class today and it was great, definitely will be going back! I highly recommend if you are looking for a great workout.

Kevin Carey: Amazing, intense workout, great instructors and facilities. Nothing else like it.

Excel Pilates DC: what do users think?

William Trapmann: Since I began practicing Pilates at Excel Pilates DC, I’ve improved my core strength and flexibility overall. Feeling stronger and more capable provides a degree of personal confidence that I find quite gratifying. The instructors at the Excel studio are knowledgeable, as well as helpful and encouraging. Their interest in my performance inspires me to try harder. It also helps that they all seem to have the patience of Job. I’m a senior citizen and I’ve had my share of sports- and exercise-related injuries over the years. I appreciate the expert guidance and oversight provided by the instructors at the Excel studio. Their expertise imbues in me a confidence to attempt challenging exercises that I probably shouldn’t even consider, much less attempt, on my own. Thanks to the instructors, I have surprised myself more than once with what I am able to do. After a workout at Excel I feel invigorated. My energy levels are higher and I feel satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. Good health and fitness are not things that simply occur—I must work for them. I believe that if you want to be active, you must stay active. I recommend Pilates at Excel Pilates as a good way to be active for almost anyone.

Alix Myerson: +The Excel Studio has a welcoming environment with friendly, knowledgeable certified Pilates instructors. +Diverse clientele from across the city and suburbs encompass all ages, backgrounds and abilities, including those in recovery from major illness. +For the past two years, my weekly private sessions with Michelle Mendelson have made an enormous difference in managing serious chronic back pain. +++I highly recommend Excel Pilates!

Louisa Buatti: While I have only taken Reformer classes here, I found the instruction at this studio top notch! Teachers have many years--if not decades--experience with the Pilates Method. Administrative staff members are friendly, helpful, and responsive. The studio is bright, airy, and very pleasant overall. I recommend it highly to anyone interested in studying classic Pilates!

Lois Nembhard: Very welcoming atmosphere. Everyone I have dealt with has been helpful and pleasant. The instructors make a point of remembering your name and are really attentive (whether one-on-one or in a group class). I’ve learned a lot and plan to keep going.

Francie Israeli: Spotlessly clean studio, small group classes, very individualized instruction. Excel adheres to the classic pilates methods. Jacqueline is a super instructor! Highly recommend.

Maria Salvadore: Thanks to Excel Pilates for consistently having exceptional staff, always responsive and talented in a supportive enviornment., I credit them for lessening my back issues and for overall feeling stronger and more resilient.

Capital Pilates Studio: what do users think?

Alan Lang: This is the place for quiet (no music) classical Pilates where you focus on your body and healing. If you’re in need to get back to basics or you’ve never learned the proper way to move your body, then you need to get here and sign up. Once you understand the benefits of proper form you’ll be able to take a class from anyone and just make your own adjustments. The best!

Mary Salander: At 70, I walked through the door at Capital Pilates into a pristine studio surrounded by an abundance of windows and light, and two years later twice a week am filled with anticipation for another session with Fidel Garcia. I have benefited greatly. My mobility, balance, and general well-being have been enhanced. Fidel is a caring, gentle, patient, and gifted instructor. He teaches body mindfulness to varied skill level students with discipline and grace. His career as a dancer and his experience as a teacher combined with his passion for pilates makes working with him a transformative experience. After each session – I walk out of the studio with a brand new body! If you are looking for a pilates instructor, go no further. I give him my highest recommendation.

brittany laeger: Was glad I found this studio when moving to DC! Classically-based, the studio and its instructors are wonderful. I have been able to tell the difference in my body -- am stronger and more aware of my connection to mind and body.

RTR Pilates - Palisades, D.C.: what do users think?

Marie Lee Song: The ultimate pilates place! All the instructors are truly excellent. RTR has been doing wonderful jobs during the pandemic to keep the facility safe and clean. Personally I love to work out with Janine as her design of the 50 minute class consists/emphasizes not only toning and stretching, but also building up muscles and strengthening the entire body. Also love her slightly faster pace which makes students fully engaged and excited, and her explanation/tips on how each form should executed- I have better understanding now and enjoy even more.

Isabelle Drake: Every instructor is patient and gives one in one support as needed. The actual workout is excellent for building strength and flexibility - different instructors allow for varieties in exercises which keeps things fresh for students. Scheduling classes is easy and convenient with the RTR app.

Emily Doyle Knarr: I attend class at RTR 3-5 times per week, and I cannot say enough positive things about it. All the instructors are excellent, and you have many options to tailor each class to your level. The instructors are constantly introducing new moves so that you do not get bored. My strength and flexibility have greatly increased since starting Pilates classes, and working on the reformer is much better than floor Pilates. I highly recommend RTR.

William Minor: RTR Pilates remains the best choice in the area for Pilates. The facilities are great, the teachers are wonderful, reserving a spot is simple, and the classes are challenging.

Colleen Doremus: The instructors are all excellent and the studios have been a sanctuary during the last year. They have done an amazing job of keeping them all clean and I am grateful for everything they do to make it possible for us to continue to attend classes.

Tatiana Williams: RTR Pilates always puts the client first. They have gone above and beyond to keep us safe and have the studios clean. All of the teachers are well trained and friendly as well. If you are looking for a full mind and body workout, RTR Pilates is for you!

Amie Burke: Don’t hesitate to give RTR Pilates a try. The instructors are great and there are a lot of choices for class times and locations. Check out the web site for a lot of information. I started out as a beginner and with the help of the instructors have greatly improved. Amie Burke

Toolbox Pilates Art Studio: what do users think?

Paul Baldwin: I’m new to the neighborhood, but feel right at home at Toolbox. I started coming once or twice a week to take morning reformer classes in March, but in the past four months I have slowly filled most every day of the week with all that Toolbox has to offer. Each instructor has their own style and the studio offers reformer, chair and corealign.

Peyton Doyle: Obsessed with Toolbox. I’ve only attended a few reformer classes, but love it already. Crystal was patient and encouraging during class. Location is unique and not hard to find– just enter alley behind Bareburger. Easy peasy. The space itself is stunning...intimate, well lit and so cozy. I am already looking forward to my next class here.

Rimas: I am not going to lie, saying that, Toolbox Pilates Art Studio is a venue, like no other I have seen! It welcomes and intrigues with a red door, the inside of the building is no less amazing, full of spectacular works of art, and a huge round window to sum it all up. No matter, how you look at it, Toolbox Pilates Art Studio is one of the most artistic, romantic and creative venues in Washington. Having Your wedding here, will make the day the most memorable event, not only in your life, but in Your guests lives too! RimasFilms had the best experience filming a wedding here.

Plamena Kirova: I have tested out almost all Pilates studios in the DMV area and this is by far THE BEST. The building is beautiful and all the instructors are knowledgeable and pleasant. Overall just the best!

Kalina P: Best Pilates Studio Ever! Iva is a professional, friendly instructor who truly cares about her clients, very good quality of live stream classes. The studio consistently providing fantastic online mat classes:)I feel empowered each and every time!

Margaret Michael Mills: Irena is a true professional and pursues her job with joy and energy. Wonderful facility. One suggestion: its stated address is 1627 Connecticut and that is impossible to access. Please post a permanent sign on 1627 as to how to actually access the facility. Why this has not be done before is a mystery. Please correct it now as older people tend to rely on addresses and this causes a bit of an issue. Other than that major matter, the studio is a wonderful venue and Irena is the gem in charge. Sincerely, Michael Mills, the father of the bride.

Kat Kennon-Morris: What a lovely place for a wedding!♥

Club Pilates: what do users think?

Cairistìona Dancing: I really enjoy the studio, the classes, and the instructors. I have no prior experience with pilates reformers, but I think they are magic. The staff is very mindful of injuries or limitations, and management was extremely helpful when I needed to take a pause to recover from an injury. It is a bit more expensive than I would normally want to pay for exercise, but it is so much more in line with my body goals and really helps build mind body connection. I look forward to more classes becoming available.

Megan Jenkins: I love the staff at Club Pilates! They are so engaging and kind. The classes are great and the instructors clearly know their stuff! It is refreshing to find a place with management this great in DC.

Aída Romero: I love this studio! I had come last year and it was always very clean, everything was sanitized between classes and the instructors were GREAT! My posture improved, my back pain decreased, and I felt stronger, leaner, and definitely noticed an increase in my flexibility. I am so happy to be back at the Tenleytown studio!

diane q: I’ve attended more than 50 classes, and absolutely love everything about Club Pilates. The studio is always very clean, staff are very friendly and attentive to people w injuries. The workouts are perfect for me, and I look forward to going as many days a week as I can.

Awakening: what do users think?

Stacey A Herndon: Madie is an awesome Pilates instructor. She has been a tremendous partner in moving me along my Pilates and weight loss journey. Her expertise has been invaluable in making accommodation for a prior injury. Her studio is impeccable with most any tool one could need to be challenged. Plus Madie is one of the most positive and supportive people I know. I highly recommend her!!!!!

Marie-Josephe Descas: Thanks to Madie I turned things around regarding my physical well-being and self-esteem (Yes, it’s all connected for me!). Starting with individual pilates classes and gradually including new eating habits, I went on exploring further what my body needed. Madie’s patience and faith in me made the whole difference. She was instrumental in my decision to reconnect with my body and outlook on life when I turned 50. I must admit I first wasn’t as applied as I should and could have been (“Procrastination” was then my best friend). Today, I am proud to say that I work out regularly (4 times a week).

Kolon Diallo: Madie provided me with comprehensive nutrition guidance that has made a great impact towards me eating healthier, having more energy, and sleeping better.

Alex HERVET: Great person

Ebony J: +Pilates Studio is AMAZING! Friendly and welcoming fitness environment. I took Kelly’s Pilates class and although challenging, she is a hands on instructor ensuring that posture is correct and that you are getting the most out of your time and effort on the reformer. The class is fun! Highly recommend!!

Gloria Roman: +Pilates class with Kelly at Balance Studios is one of the best in Washington!! her knowledge, friendliness, care for each participant and her no-nonsense approach makes her a great instructor, I took my first class with a great deal of hesitation but after meeting Kelly and taking my first class I became a regular participant.

barre3: what do users think?

Kathleen Schwarz: After having my first child, I had a hard time finding an exercise class that allowed me to reconnect to my core muscles, adapt moves for my current abilities and range of motion, not strain a recovering pelvic floor, and still be challenging. The classes at barre3 have checked all these boxes! I’m already noticing much more stability in my core and the glute strength I’ve been missing after only one week of attending. I’d definitely recommend this for someone returning to exercise postpartum!

Nhu Girl: If you’re new, I like to say Barre3 is a mixture of Zumba, Yoga, and Ballet techniques combined. It’s fun, upbeat and challenging. They offer a lot of time slots so it’s easy to schedule a class into your day. Parking is easy to find and love their location.

Jessica Goodman: barre3 DC studios (Clarendon, Navy Yard, Union Station) consistently provide a stellar workout and a wide variety of options to keep me engaged and successful during workouts. The staff and members are very welcoming and non-judgemental. Highly recommend.

Elizabeth Charash: Great classes!! Love an early morning workout and it is so nice to have so many options throughout the week. The instructors are great and the studio is a nice respite from a busy day.

Mathea Pielemeier: Barre3 instructors are always friendly, energetic, and welcoming! It’s a great low impact workout and good combo of cardio & strength work.

Cally Perkins: Barre3 Navy Yard is a great experience. Impressive studio with plenty of space and fun instructors who keep you energized and going! Highly recommend.
