Twist Pilates and Fitness: what do users think?

Joanne Conroy: i first met Ryan in 2008 when I joined a local Pilates studio after relocating from NJ. I have been training in Pilates since 1998 and Ryan is one of the top instructors i have worked with. He is really knowledgeable about the kinetics of our musculature and the impact on posture and function. His workouts are always a challenging mixture of strengthening, stretching and balance. I left DC in 2014 but try to train with him whenever I am in DC!
Response: Hey Joanne, thank you for sharing your experience and leaving us a great review. We sincerely appreciate the support.

kathe williamson: Ryan is a fabulous trainer and Pilates teacher. He gives his clients amazing personal attention, listens carefully, and makes every workout challenging and different. His knowledge of anatomy and the requirements and needs of many different sports is a wonderful combination. While his specialty is Pilates, he’s also helped me with weight training, walking, TRX, and has lots of experience in martial arts. I’ve been to a zillion exercise teachers over the years, and he is one of the very best. Georgetown/DuPont Circle is lucky to have him!

Thomas Gottschalk: I have had Ryan as my trainer for nearly ten years. He is terrific. Very knowledgeable, pleasant, and easy to work with. Knows several different exercise regimes, Pilates, TRX etc and is very good at solving strength and pain issues, as well as developing overall fitness. He really understands anatomy and how one muscle or ligament affects others. Tailors your workout to your needs and preferences.

Matthew Buzby: Great place. I found it kind of by accident as I was just searching for a Pilates class. It was something I wanted to try out but there were so many studios and individual coaches it was hard to tell which one was right. I saw an ad for Twist and I checked them out online and really liked the philosophy and stories. I tried it and was pretty much hooked. Ryan is a great teacher and explains everything in detail. He is patient and very knowledgeable about how the body moves and connects. He will help you work on improving and never pushing yourself too hard. But it is a workout and I am sweating at the end of each session. But also feeling very relaxed too.
Response: Thank you Matthew, for your wonderful words and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience working at Twist Pilates and Fitness. We value feedback so that we can become an even better company. We are pleased to know that you love the facilities and working out at our gym.

Bettina Richman: I had never tried Pilates before coming to Ryan. Soon I absolutely loved it! I found myself getting stronger and the back pain that I had for years began to subside. Having experienced back issues of his own, Ryan was particularly awesome at adjusting exercises to make them appropriate for my situation. I would highly recommend anyone experienced or not to take a class with Ryan!

Cindy Cisneros: Looking for a great Pilates studio and teacher? Check out Ryan Hodgkinson in his new studio space at 1560 21st Street, NW in Dupont Circle. Ryan is a longtime Pilates instructor, personal trainer, and martial artist with extensive knowledge in physical health. He helped me become stronger and increase my body alignment, especially following invasive major surgery. His clear enthusiasm for his work also helps support his clients in achieving their health goals.

Carol Wakefield: Ryan is the very best pilates instructor. He tailers your workout to meet your bodies needs. I have been going to Ryan for over 8-years and highly recommend him to anyone who wants to remain fit throughout their lives.

Excel Pilates DC: what do users think?

William Trapmann: Since I began practicing Pilates at Excel Pilates DC, I’ve improved my core strength and flexibility overall. Feeling stronger and more capable provides a degree of personal confidence that I find quite gratifying. The instructors at the Excel studio are knowledgeable, as well as helpful and encouraging. Their interest in my performance inspires me to try harder. It also helps that they all seem to have the patience of Job. I’m a senior citizen and I’ve had my share of sports- and exercise-related injuries over the years. I appreciate the expert guidance and oversight provided by the instructors at the Excel studio. Their expertise imbues in me a confidence to attempt challenging exercises that I probably shouldn’t even consider, much less attempt, on my own. Thanks to the instructors, I have surprised myself more than once with what I am able to do. After a workout at Excel I feel invigorated. My energy levels are higher and I feel satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. Good health and fitness are not things that simply occur—I must work for them. I believe that if you want to be active, you must stay active. I recommend Pilates at Excel Pilates as a good way to be active for almost anyone.

Alix Myerson: +The Excel Studio has a welcoming environment with friendly, knowledgeable certified Pilates instructors. +Diverse clientele from across the city and suburbs encompass all ages, backgrounds and abilities, including those in recovery from major illness. +For the past two years, my weekly private sessions with Michelle Mendelson have made an enormous difference in managing serious chronic back pain. +++I highly recommend Excel Pilates!

Louisa Buatti: While I have only taken Reformer classes here, I found the instruction at this studio top notch! Teachers have many years--if not decades--experience with the Pilates Method. Administrative staff members are friendly, helpful, and responsive. The studio is bright, airy, and very pleasant overall. I recommend it highly to anyone interested in studying classic Pilates!

Sherwood Va: Excellent instructors and facility. I've been taking one on one classes for three years and can see improvement in my strength and flexibility. I have scoliosis, and my instructor at Excel was willing to modify the exercises to accommodate my back problems.

Laura Jackson: I love this pilates studio! Firstly, the space is so welcoming and peaceful; the tones are warm and the lines are clean. It's perfect for helping you focus and flow. The staff and instructors are all wonderful as well. I'm a beginner and Rachel, my instructor, has been so helpful with getting me acclimated to the form and movement of pilates and it has changed my life forever!

Jacqueline Emanuel: I've been a student at Excel for over 20 years. It's a world class studio with fantastic teachers in a beautiful space that is not only spotless, it's easy to get to via metro, bike, driving or walking. The attention to detail, emphasis on the care and safety of each individual client, (while you're getting your butt kicked in a class or private) is unlike any other studio on the east coast.

Chris Frates: An amazing studio with a great vibe. Their incredibly knowledgeable instructors teach to your skill level. You will look and feel better in no time. I highly recommend Stefanie. She's my favorite teacher.

Lois Nembhard: Very welcoming atmosphere. Everyone I have dealt with has been helpful and pleasant. The instructors make a point of remembering your name and are really attentive (whether one-on-one or in a group class). I’ve learned a lot and plan to keep going.

Francie Israeli: Spotlessly clean studio, small group classes, very individualized instruction. Excel adheres to the classic pilates methods. Jacqueline is a super instructor! Highly recommend.

Maria Salvadore: Thanks to Excel Pilates for consistently having exceptional staff, always responsive and talented in a supportive enviornment., I credit them for lessening my back issues and for overall feeling stronger and more resilient.

Fuse Pilates®: what do users think?

Caroline Cunningham: Just returned to Fuse Pilates after a three year break and several injuries. Working out with Tori and Liz made me feel strong and resilient. I literally cried after class today knowing that my entire back was moving again and in a careful and meaningful way. I forgot how good Fuse teachers are they really help you build your strength while listening to your needs. ONWARD!!!
Response: Thank you, Caroline. We love seeing you back at the studio!

Areeba Hasan: I've taken mat and a ladder class at Fuse, and I have loved every class. The instructors have been great, Saba is amazing, and I've had a great experience. I've never done pilates before, and I get super anxious in new settings but this has truly been an amazing experience. Highly suggest taking the classes! They're difficult but in the best way possible!
Response: Thank you for trusting us with your Pilates journey, Areeba. Looking forward to seeing you more.

Bela Leao: Fuse Pilates is by far my favorite studio in DC! I truly enjoy the classes as well as the availability of different instructors and teaching styles. The instructors are creative and fun, demonstrating in-depth knowledge and ability to work with our individual needs. Very importantly, they ask about any injuries and help people modify, if necessary. The owner is also amazing and passionate about pilates, certainly conveying this passion to her clients. Moreover, the studio’s customer-focused approach ensures the delivery of a superior level of service at Fuse.
Response: Dear Bela, Thank you for the lovely review. We love seeing you at the studio.

Christine Rice: I did my first class at Fuse Pilates and did the back to the basics reformer. It was a great way to start and get acquainted with reformer pilates. I recommend this to anyone who has thought about starting pilates! Dani was a great instructor for first timers as well. I didn't feel lost or confused at all!
Response: Thank you, Christine. We enjoyed having you at the studio. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Erin Darbouze: The studio is beautiful and the instructors are the best in DC. I feel safe, supported, and always get a great workout. I cannot recommend Fuse Pilates enough!
Response: Thank you for the lovely review, Erin. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Laura Cilmi: I absolutely love coming to Fuse Pilates! I leave feeling fit, accomplished and less stressed. And then the soreness kicks in! The instructors are knowledgeable and will help each student based on their needs. The owner is amazing and will work with each student to find the right package for their individual goals.
Response: Thank you, Laura. We love seeing you at the studio and online. Thanks for being part of this amazing community.

James Morrison: Fuse is an amazing physical studio space with a variety of top notch instructors. I like that there are instructors who are super gentle and others who will make you sweat. I haven't been in the physical studio since the pandemic but I've streamed some classes, which have all been great. I always feel welcome at Fuse, and the ability to buy a bundle of passes makes the price right.
Response: Thank you, James. We look forward to seeing you soon online or in studio.

Whitley Cargile: I took a private pilates class with Dani at Fuse and she was awesome! She gave great modifications for my injuries and the class was the perfect difficulty level. Definitely going to become a regular at Fuse!
Response: Thank you, Whitley. We loved having you all and looking forward to seeing more of you soon.

Monette Melanson: Fuse is great. I have been taking classes off and on here since 2008 in its various locations but when COVID hit, they immediately began zoom, and it saved my sanity. I take pilates mat classes almost every day and have for the duration. The instructors are all excellent. The workouts are varied. It’s just never boring and I always feel invigorated after a class, no matter who the instructor is. They also offer a variety of machines classes at their studio on 14th St. Give them a try! They are fabulous!!!
Response: Thank you, Monette. Love having you in our virtual classes.

Sarah Nguyen: I've been going to Fuse Pilates for the last year and they are great. They have small class sizes so you get to know the regulars and teachers, who can dedicate more time with you. I go to the Reformer and Ladder pilate classes and they have great equipment and challenging classes. During COVID-19, they had online zoom classes too which are great. I enjoy classes from Tori, Dani and Joe. The owner Saba is lovely too!
Response: Thank you, Sarah. We love seeing you at the studio. See you soon.

Response: This person isn't affiliated with our business.

Makeda V: I have been coming to DC Pilates for a few months now and I'm hooked on the challenging reformer workouts, attentive instruction and fun vibes! For me, one class/week was enough to see more definition in muscles in my arms and legs. I can't recommend this place enough!

Toolbox Pilates Art Studio: what do users think?

Paul Baldwin: I’m new to the neighborhood, but feel right at home at Toolbox. I started coming once or twice a week to take morning reformer classes in March, but in the past four months I have slowly filled most every day of the week with all that Toolbox has to offer. Each instructor has their own style and the studio offers reformer, chair and corealign.

Peyton Doyle: Obsessed with Toolbox. I’ve only attended a few reformer classes, but love it already. Crystal was patient and encouraging during class. Location is unique and not hard to find– just enter alley behind Bareburger. Easy peasy. The space itself is stunning...intimate, well lit and so cozy. I am already looking forward to my next class here.

Jessica Cain: As an event planner, I'm constantly looking for amazing venues in the area. I recently coordinated a wedding at Toolbox Pilates Art Studio and I can't wait to work there again. Not only is the space phenomenal, but the staff is great as well. I'm so happy my couple chose this location. I recommend this space to anyone for any event (wedding, birthday, corporate, etc).

Rimas: I am not going to lie, saying that, Toolbox Pilates Art Studio is a venue, like no other I have seen! It welcomes and intrigues with a red door, the inside of the building is no less amazing, full of spectacular works of art, and a huge round window to sum it all up. No matter, how you look at it, Toolbox Pilates Art Studio is one of the most artistic, romantic and creative venues in Washington. Having Your wedding here, will make the day the most memorable event, not only in your life, but in Your guests lives too! RimasFilms had the best experience filming a wedding here.

Plamena Kirova: I have tested out almost all Pilates studios in the DMV area and this is by far THE BEST. The building is beautiful and all the instructors are knowledgeable and pleasant. Overall just the best!

Kalina P: Best Pilates Studio Ever! Iva is a professional, friendly instructor who truly cares about her clients, very good quality of live stream classes. The studio consistently providing fantastic online mat classes:)I feel empowered each and every time!

Margaret Michael Mills: Irena is a true professional and pursues her job with joy and energy. Wonderful facility. One suggestion: its stated address is 1627 Connecticut and that is impossible to access. Please post a permanent sign on 1627 as to how to actually access the facility. Why this has not be done before is a mystery. Please correct it now as older people tend to rely on addresses and this causes a bit of an issue. Other than that major matter, the studio is a wonderful venue and Irena is the gem in charge. Sincerely, Michael Mills, the father of the bride.

Ernest DC: In addition to being a pilates studio it's a venue for events. Very small and awkward. Excellent and manageable for event around 75 people.

Mantas Kubilinskas: As a wedding photographer I was very impressed by this place. It's very artsy, modern and unique place for weddings and other events. Highly recommend this place for weddings and other kid of events!

Kat Kennon-Morris: What a lovely place for a wedding!♥

Powercore Pilates: what do users think?

Nichelle Nassif: Francesca is amazing. When I began with Francesca, I had two young kids, and had only a very basic knowledge of Pilates and certainly never reformer, nor worked out for the last 4 years. She listened to my needs and expectations and developed a program that worked for me. She is excellent at targeting exact areas of the body you’d like to tone and creating an exercise program unique to you. I’ve also had knees surgeries and she is great on modifying exercises. I feel back to my pre pregnancy body and am so happy I found her! Highly recommend!

Suchaya Laddaphan: I have known Francesca of Powercore Pilates and been her client for over a decade. I have recommended Francesca to many of my friends in the past years because I know she can be that source of knowledge when it comes to Pilates and adjusting to each client's needs. After an injury, Francesca understood my difficulty in range of motion in my left shoulder and was able to tailor the Pilates movements to be more comfortable to perform and also assisted in my physical therapy at every session. She would recommend exercises that I can do at home and reinforce it when she saw me in class. The attention that Francesca provides to her clients shows that she cares about her clients and that's how she is able to maintain her client relationship so well over the years I have known her. I have worked out with her other clients at group sessions and they are many same faces that I have seen over the years. She has known me since my early 20s and I am now in my mid 30s. It goes to show the trust that I have in her to be my Pilates and personal trainer. Even with the pandemic, she was able to quickly adjust to the situation and offered virtual classes including group Pilates class that I am still a part of. She always asks her clients for feedback throughout the years to ensure that her clients are getting what they need and if there are areas that she can improve upon or offer better, she will try her best to accommodate or take on the challenge. Last but not least, her studio is very well maintained and has the necessary equipment that will keep you engaged and challenged in each session, whether it's a Pilates class or a personal training session.

Carolyn Weininger: Francesca is an wonderful teacher. She is highly trained, creative and fun. She is always finding new ways to help me take my fitness to the next level. Her studio is bright, clean and fully equipped. I would highly recommend Francesca and Power Core Pilates.
Response: Thank you for this amazing review, we love taking your fitness to the next level!!! Bring it on :-)))

Dario P.: Amazing is the best/only way to describe Francesca at Powercore. She is incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming and a clear-cut experienced professional. As someone new to Pilates seeking to improve core strength and knock out back pain, Francesca’s process really takes into account your goals & physique in her teaching style with focus on form to attain these goals. Highly recommend this service. You won’t regret it!

Marion Lancial: Francesca is an amazing teacher ! I had so many troubles with my back and absolutely not a fitness girl, but thanks to her, this memory is long gone and I even enjoy a good workout with her ! She always takes in consideration how your body feels and she adjusts the exercice to help you. And the must for me was about all the virtual classes she offers now : with 2 kids, it is the only way for me to keep training ! Pilates changed my life thanks to her kindness and motivation ☺️

Erin Lyons: I absolutely love doing Powercore pilates. Not only do I have the best time working out, I feel so strong and energized afterwards. Francesca is a patient and caring teacher, and she makes the whole experience so enjoyable. She explains every thing clearly, so no prior experience is necessary. I definitely recommend doing Powercore pilates for anyone who is interested in getting an amazing workout and having a good time.

B: I highly recommend Francesca to anyone looking for a Pilates instructor or personal trainer. She pushes me to get the most out of every workout, focusing on meeting goals and using proper form. At the same time, she emphasizes safety, taking care to avoid injury. She knows her stuff, is fun and encouraging, and gets results!

Laura Gates: Francesca knowledge of the classic pilates method and continuing education makes her a great instructor, she spends time explaining each position and ensures you are getting the best work out. She has been a life saver for me, when I started going to her studio I was having cronic pain and now almost 2 1/2 years of practicing my pain has reduced and my body feels stronger my posture has improved overall a great place Thank you Francesca! Bonita

Amy Venit: I worked with Francesca for months as a way of cross-training and maintaining strength and flexibility while training for triathlons. We pivoted our workouts when I got pregnant as a way to stay physically and mentally healthy during the covid lockdown. Every workout was customized and I always felt like I had a great workout based on my condition at the time. Highly recommend for pre/post natal or as a way of cross-training!

Rania Attia: I’ve worked with Fran for about 3 years now and she is an excellent and knowledgeable trainer. She trained me throughout my pregnancy. Fran was able to work on strength and challenge me in a very safe and effective way which helped with my delivery and post-partum recovery. I highly recommend power core Pilates!

RTR Pilates: what do users think?

Carolyn Mcgavock: The variety of instructors lets clients find people that work for them. All are supportive, encouraging, and very knowledgeable but as a client there are some I just connect with more. And the other class participants are generally fun and supportive as well. Because of the supportive environment I have been able to stick with RTR classes and my mental and physical health has improved.

Rebeka Khorrami: RTR has changed my life and body! I joined in July 2021 after an almost 2 year hiatus from ANY form of exercise due to COVID. I was attending Orange Theory classes 4-5X weekly prior to all the shut downs. I decided that after my hiatus I would ease my way back into exercising via a few months of Pilates and then back into OT. Here I am about 8 months into it and I'm not going any where! I feel so great! I am stronger than I've ever been; my tone is back 100% and then some, not to mention I'm more flexible now than I have ever been in my adult life; my posture is better than ever and all my aches and pains are gone. My body does not miss the constant stress on my joints. I now aim to attend at least 4 classes weekly and based on the timing of the classes usually end up at the McLean location. All the instructors are awesome and look to correct your form through class to avoid injury. By the way, RTR has its own app and it's super easy to use to check on your account, schedule/cancel classes and to see what's being offered and by whom. They even tell you if there will be a sub for a particular class. A big shout out to all you awesome instructors whom I have enjoyed learning from: Leero, Ayle, Joanne, Sara L, Gayle, Gina and of course Susan! You're all amazing and I look forward to the torture sessions!

Mary Pat Collins: Chris was incredibly helpful / instructive / patient / encouraging. I’m so glad I found this studio and I love the carriage routines. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Russell Reinsch: The fitness curriculum / program delivers excellent, whole body results. The selection of class schedules in Mclean is very good, and I am able to consistently get classes with preferred instructors. The equipment is very good. The front office resolves issues in a pleasant, and timely manner. The end result is that I feel great. Throughout my life Ive been in karate, boxing, weight lifting, yoga... and at this point I think that this discipline with the reformer is the KIND.

J.A. Farhood: A level 1 workout, when done properly and to your fullest capacity, paying attention to all the details the instructor reminds you about, can be quite the challenge! RTR instructors are very attentive to safety, injury and personal concerns and modify accordingly. Wonderful class with Shelly B.
Response: Thanks, JC!

Michelle James: Definitely not a good experience. I have 12 years of reformer experience and after taking one class here, I realized their approach is less Pilates and more hybrid. When I asked the instructor if there were classes that had more of the traditional Pilates movements incorporated into the session, she just shrugged her shoulders and told me I have to find the right instructor within the company. Then off she went to go welcome another a new member and give her all types of info on what’s available. Definitely don’t recommend this place. Better Pilates studios are close by and they know how to talk to customers.

cheryl juneau: UPDATE, 1 year into the pandemic: Pilates classes at RTR lift my spirits! I am so happy to be in this safe, clean, environment where I can strengthen myself in under an hour. I took a break from classes while the nation's infection rate surged. But I am vaccinated now, back in class, and feeling comfortable with the way the RTR manages their space and mitigates the risks of group exercise. I love the results I get from spending a small amount of time on self-care. With these classes I am getting stronger, more flexible, and my body is getting toned. I love having the boost to my confidence and to my energy levels. UPDATE, after 6 months of the pandemic: RTR Pilates continues to offer classes in a clean, well ventilated environment. It is clear that they make safety a priority. Not only does the staff take safety seriously, but the other students also value health and safety. I am comfortable in the RTR Pilates space. Taking classes at RTR allows me to have a workout routine that keeps me exercising regularly without hurting myself. I have a monthly membership so that I can sign up for a class everyday, if I like. My preference is to take a class 4 days a week. I am amazed by the results. I stand up straighter. My clothes hang better. I feel stronger and more confident. I have the energy to face the world. Previous review: RTR Pilates has taken new steps to make everyone feel safe in the studio. Hand sanitizer and wipes have always been available. The machines are now separated further from each other. The machines have new straps that are easily cleaned. Masks required at arrival (and currently while exercising). No congregating. Great ventilation. Everyone is practicing social distancing throughout the class, including the instructor. Excellent communication about the expectations for keeping a safe environment for everyone. Honestly, pilates has been the key to staying healthy for me. It has strengthened my muscles so that I am able to participate in other activities and exercise. (I have terrible knees!) It has given me a strong core to help me stand taller. It has improved my mental health through friendship and exercise. And it gets me out of the house regularly to take a mental break from work. Daily exercise helps me sleep better at night, too. I am so happy to be back!

Lilo Stephens: I enjoy my RTR Pilates workouts for several reasons. First, the workouts are varied which keeps me engaged. Second, the instructors identify the specific muscle groups that each movement targets. This helps me focus on proper form and maintain a strong mind-body connection. Finally, the instructors are mindful of injuries and provide modifications. RTR Pilates is my exercise home.
Response: Thanks, Lilo!

Kathy Shoreman: I joined RTR Pilates a month ago. I was looking for conditioning, strength training, and relief for my various joint aches and pains. This place and the instructors are AMAZING. In one month I've reduced much of my lower back tightness, conditioned and toned my core (which leads to a stronger back), toned and strengthened my arms and my legs, and feel better than I have in years. I attend the Level 1 classes currently and will move up when I'm ready. I've sampled every instructor at Level 1 and all are fantastic and each session I go to works different muscle groups; muscles I didn't even know I had. All are patient and attentive and will correct you when you aren't maximizing each movement, so you aren't lost in the mayhem that accompanies many group fitness classes. I am so happy with RTR; I feel it's changed my fitness in a major and whole-body way. I attend the McLean location, as it's convenient for me - plenty of parking. RTR has improved my golf game and I know it will improve my skiing for the upcoming season. I can't say enough good things about this place.
Response: Thanks, Kathy!!! We can't say enough good things about you :)

Laila Awar Shouhayib: I am a huge fan of Pilates and of RTR Pilates especially. I love the ease of reserving or canceling a class, I love the different locations and this different times available every day. But what sets RTR Pilates apart from other places is the wonderful instructors. I like to see several different ones each week because I get different points of view and different ways of instruction. And I am so excited for the new workshops. I attended the first one with Eden and learned many new things and old things that I was confused about. Thank you, RTR Pilates for being the best in town.
Response: Thanks, Laila! We are a huge fan of yours, too!!!

Pilates Center of Rockville: what do users think?

Suzan Jenkins: Pilates Center of Rockville is a people centered studio with stellar instructors, staff and administration. I've been a student on and off for years, but much more consistently this last year. This learning environment is welcoming and heslth-conscious; I've learned a lot while strengthening my core! Highly recommended!
Response: Suzan, Thank you so much for your kind words! We love having you in the studio, and we’re thrilled that your experience at PCOR is exactly what we strive for. Kudos on your commitment and all that you’ve accomplished. See you in the studio!

Donna Psaltis: The Pilates Center of Rockville has been life changing for me! I am a stronger more confident version of myself. I have mainly worked with Karyn who has challenged me and has really taught me not to place limits on what my body can do. She is really amazing! The owner of the studio is a very dynamic, knowledgeable teacher as well. I would feel comfortable working with any of the instructors that are at this studio. I have so much gratitude that I have been able to experience Pilates at The Pilates Center of Rockville! Thank You!
Response: Wow! Donna, such powerful words. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. You’re right. Karyn is amazing, and we are fortunate to have her on our team. You are also amazing, and we are so happy that you are happy! We look forward to seeing you in the studio. – Aliyah

Mary Jane Alexander: I have been a student of Pilates for many years, and have pursued it in several studios. Pilates Center of Rockville is by far the best of any in the area. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and is a marvelous teacher, and all the instructors are highly qualified. All instructors at Pilates Center of Rockville are dedicated and caring. The studio is a warm and welcoming place. It truly lives up to its motto to "come as you are; leave at your best".
Response: Dear Mary Jane, Your kind words speak volumes and we really appreciate it. It lets us know that we are living up to our vision. It is a pleasure to teach you, and we thank you. – Aliyah

Marilyn Eichner: I give Pilates Center of Rockville 5 stars! Why? Because they are a small professional, highly knowledgeable, Pilates Studio. They genuinely care about each and every clients who walks through their door. Personally, I understand how important it is to have instructors who actually give me personalize attention concerning my form. It's not only about doing the exercise; it's about doing the exercise correctly. Because the classes are small, instructors can tweat the client's form and provide important feedback. Pilates Center of Rockville makes it a point to know your weaknesses and any past or current injuries. Simply said, they care about your fitness goals and achieving them safely. Every single employee is erudite including their front desk personal. It's my diamond in the rough.
Response: Dear Marilyn, Thank you!! Your thoughts and words truly give meaning to our mission and vision. We are very fortunate to have a fabulous team of teachers who want to use their knowledge to guide and support their students to get the full benefit of their Pilates practice. We truly want to understand what is happening with your body. We are so happy that you feel that! Thank you for taking the time to share. - Aliyah

Rochelle Stanfield: I love the Pilates Center of Rockville! The place is a calm haven of positive encouragement and reinforcement. The instructors are all extremely knowledgeable and tailor each lesson to my individual needs. They are gentle but don't let me get away with "cheating" on an exercise, which would lessen its effect. Thank you, Pilates Center of Rockville!!!
Response: Hi Shelley, We are so glad to hear that this is your calm haven. Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to write a review. See you soon! - Aliyah

Rose Nelan: I have only the highest praise for the Pilates Center of Rockville. The teachers are caring, attentive, knowledgeable, and effective. The atmosphere at the studio is friendly, supportive and efficient. According to the teachers, age at PCRockville is not a barrier to improvement and everyone works as hard as they can to feel and looks their best.
Response: Dear Rose, You are a testament to the philosophy of our teaching and proof that strength, positive energy and youth are ageless. Thank you for the high praise. It is a pleasure to teach you and have you in the studio. See you in class! - Aliyah

Deborah Menditch: The Pilates Center of Rockville is well run and professional. I have been going to the Center since its inception and always recommend it to my friends. They remain true to the teachings of Joseph Pilates. The Pilates Center of Rockville is a first rate studio.
Response: Dear Debbie, thank you for your continued patronage and for taking the time to write a review. We love having you as part of our community. I look forward to seeing you in the studio! - Aliyah

Loretta Chi: I have been taking mat classes with Jenna for over two years. When I started Pilates, I was in terrible shape! I had lower back pain, my core was weak, and I could barely lower myself onto the mat. I was in my mid fifties and hadn't done any regular exercise in more than ten years. Fast forward to today. Over 20 pounds lighter without dieting, I regularly run 2-3 miles, and do Zumba twice a week. My back doesn't hurt and people are impressed with my strength and flexibility. I still faithfully take my weekly mat class with Jenna. I always mean to take a second class during the week, but it's hard to find motivation after work. But even one class makes such a difference. When I have to miss that one class in a given week, my body lets me know -- right away and for the rest of the week. I happen to like Jenna, but all the instructors are certified, and the studio is dedicated to the Pilates method -- in addition to regular classes, they hold workshops and continuing education for Pilates professionals. The studio is bright, open and spotlessly clean.
Response: Dear Loretta, You are amazing! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and your lovely words about Jenna. Kudos to you for your hard work, and we are thrilled to be a part of your huge transformation and your continued commitment to your health and happiness. We'll see you in class! - Aliyah

Elaine Levin: Best place for Pilates in the DC area. Great instructors. The equipment is kept in good condition (no small matter.) If you want to do Pilates with some of the best instructors around, then come here!
Response: Thank you so much Elaine for your kind words! We truly appreciate your taking the time to write a review, and we look forward to seeing you in the studio. -Aliyah

Eileen S: Great place with great instructors. It is great for the mind and body.
Response: Thank you Eileen! We are thrilled that you’re happy, and we look forward to seeing you in class. - Aliyah

Equinox Sports Club Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

Daniel Caroe: Almost at the end of my year membership and will not be renewing simply due to the customer service. In my experience, a good amount of the staff are hard to work with and even snobby at times and its takes multiple calls and requests to get anything changed on my account. Here are a few examples of the troubles I have had: 1) I called twice over the summer to freeze my membership for a few months while I was travelling. They said this would not be a problem and that they would do it.......I called a third time about month later to find out that they did not freeze it and were still charging me. When I told them about the first two times I called, they said they had no recollection of this happening. Kinda a waste of money for me in that case. 2) I was having some trouble with my personal training scheduling and called to get in contact with the PT Manager. I called multiple times over the course of a week and each time they told me he was busy. They assured me I would get a call back from him but this call never came. (kinda annoying he could not take the time for maybe a 15min conversation) 3) I had to cancel a PT session due to illness (strep) which they said meant I would not be charged a cancellation fee for my session. They definitely still charged me, and again, it was impossible to get into contact with the PT manager. Overall, it's a great facility but I find the staff to be pretty inadequate and kinda rude (namely a front desk person named Shaniya and one of the club managers named Dwayne). I loved my trainer Evan (highly recommend) but in the end, I feel like I could get what I need at another gym with a nicer staff.
Response: Hi Daniel, we are very sorry to hear about this experience. It's definitely not what we like to hear. Please connect with us at concierge@equinox.com. We'd love to get additional details regarding this matter and investigate, allowing us to work towards making improvements going forward. Please be sure to mention your review so we can address quickly.

David Gershman: Today I signed up and had a great experience. Mike, in membership, not only showed me around- they answered every question with full clarity, gave me far more insight than I expected, and was simply very nice and sweet. I knew I was going to get a membership going in, but it’s nice to get warmth and comfort instantly upon arrival. Felt like I was one of the regular folks
Response: Hi David, thanks for the 5 stars!

June Wade: Scheduled a spa massage for my friend’s birthday at the Ritz Carlton/ Equinox (Foggy Bottom) location. The staff was courteous and the gym was clean. I was disappointed the spa does not offer champagne or snacks for special occasions, instead we were given “swag bags” full of gym advertisements and trinkets. If you’re not a guest at the hotel, arriving early is highly recommended (parking, etc). Must walk outside to enter Equinox since elevator access to spa is for guest only. My massage therapist was (Donna) friendly, courteous but chatty. I was not interested in talking about where I live, hearing comments about my “poor”elbows🙄 or asking why my shoulders were so tight during my 80 minute massage. Unfortunately , the massage was not good (technique). Ambiance was fair in the room, there was no soothing music or waterfall fountains, just dim lights, and a cool quiet room. The warm bed with robes was a nice perk. Not a fan of the massage lotion (dry paste) used, she had to continuously spend time stepping away from the massage to reapply. I’m giving this spa 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️since my girlfriend had a positive experience with her masseuse. In addition, they provided a quiet space and champagne glasses for us to enjoy our BYOB champagne post massage. Would not recommend, lacks luxury for the price. $500+ ( 2 people)

Lauren Arquette: As all the other reviews said, horrible customer service. The club itself is fine, but don't try to bring a guest and don't try to cancel the membership because it's impossible and no one responds. I was a member for all of a week and tried to quit because I was told when signing up a guest of mine could come if I gave them that guests info. Gave them my guests info- they never put it in the system and turned them away at the door without even trying to investigate the problem/track down the person who gave my guest the ok. Was also told they hard certain equipment for rent when they didn't. If this was a planet fitness I wouldn't complain, but this is a $200+/month club that markets itself as elite. Nothing is elite about their customer service. Per the customer agreement you get 15 days to cancel and get a refund- tried emailing the manager for my refund, tried calling the concierge and nothing yet. I'd love to know if they actually even answer the emails they get when they respond to these complaints "sorry to hear about your experience! contact us as at..."
Response: Hi Lauren, please connect with us at Concierge@equinox.com. We would love to get additional details that led to this review so we can investigate closely. We would be happy to discuss this matter with you further if you'd like to share additional feedback. Please be sure to mention your review so we can address quickly.

TPMT Associates: Love it here as usual - they take care of the place and most importantly, the people who works out here take care of the place and is clean and tidy and doesn’t trash the place. As usual, it’s the people who come to gyms that are the messy/dirty and this place doesn’t have those ppl - not that I saw anyways!
Response: Thank you for reviewing!

John Heinemann: You get what you pay for. This gym doesn’t make sense for everyone, no one is a better person for going here, and a free gym in an apartment building is going to do 90% of what Equinox does. But the other 10%? I actually look forward to working out more when there’s both a sauna and a steam room, a saltwater pool, luxury bath products, memory foam floors for stretching, and refrigerators full of Eucalyptus infused face towels. I go for the amenities, and then I just decide to work out because I’m already there.
Response: Thanks for the 5 stars, John! Glad to hear you are enjoying our amenities.

Lena Fleischmann: Lots of amenities (pool, basketball court, steam room, sauna, soulcyle bikes...), good customer service, they constantly make improvements by adding products in the changing rooms like razors, hair ties, curling irons etc. What I don't like about it (apart from the price obviously): it's pretty much packed no matter what time you go which is annoying - wish they had a gadget in the app that would tell you how busy it is beforehand. Also, showers aren't always very clean.

Izabella Ritz: The club has a pool with saltwater which is very convenient, covid safety is great, the thing why I didn't join is no natural lights in a building, which is very important for me personally.
Response: Hi Izabella, we appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experience. Thank you for the 5 stars and we will be sure to escalate your feedback to the appropriate teams.

Gelila Sebhatu: I called to inquiry about membership packages and I found the sales rep, Erica, a little rude and she did not directly answer my questions, which was irritating. Based on the reviews here, I’m not surprised I received this type of experience. I guess I’ll be looking elsewhere. I just wanted a nearby pool 🏊‍♀️
Response: Hi Gelila, we are sorry to hear you had this experience. We hope that you will give us another shot to show you we are capable of better service.

Ebony Williams: Do not work at equinox if you have living situation or just a situation period the manger Duane don’t care if you have living situation problems he even told one of the employees that mid shift is childish because we all going through something sorry if you hired people who have living situation or who gave problems and be careful of the Towels and hand towels they wash them in hot water only no solution that why the towels look a little dirty Yess I use to work their and got fired because I was trying to find a place to stay the days I called out because I was homeless the cleaning manger is horrible at his job and HR needs to send a Secret Santana to see how they clean the place
