Precious King: So, I’m not happy at all with my piercing. For $80 for an industrial piercing and for it not to come out right is upsetting. They do not have a large enough jewelry selection. Better bring your own, plus the little jewelry that they do have is around $30. You can order new jewelry from Body Candy.com or Amazon for 2/3 less price. Overall I’d suggest going elsewhere. Like I said the piercing wasn’t to my liking and now I have to have it redone. That’s more money and another two weeks of agonizing pain. Ugggh !!!!!
Jonnekia Ellison: I am blown away at just HOW OUTSTANDING the services were that I received from Michael and Mikey. I am from Florida and were visiting for the New Year. I was able to easily book an appointment for tattoos and a nostril piercing (my first) and chat with them on the customer portal beforehand. The pricing was very fair but honestly for the quality, I feel like they aren’t charging enough. Michael is hands down the BEST piercer. He was very knowledgeable, gave me supplies to clean my piercing until I made it home, and made the whole process quick and easy. I am scared of needles, funny to say, but I could barely tell he had started. He made me feel at ease and gave every customer (I watched at least 5 come in while I was being tattooed) that walked in after me the same level of stellar customer service. He listened to everyone’s wishes, gave his expert opinion on what the safest options were and pierced them at the perfect angle. Quick, easy and almost painless. Their implant grade jewelry is the best for piercings and I liked that it wasn’t about selling you some flashy expensive jewelry piece, but more of what is better for the healing process with their stock. Mikey did my tattoos and he is truly an incredible artist. My first tattoo was done carelessly and he was able to redo it while making it look fantastic. He did other cutesy tattoos for me (heart, flower, script rib tattoo, crescent moon) and he did them with such ease and precision and with the right tools to get the job done as painless as possible. He mentioned that he has been doing tattoos for 22 years and you can REALLY tell. My favorite part was how down to earth he is. If you want input on a tattoo design or what will work best, he’s there for it. He won’t shoo you out the door like most artists who just want to give you a quick tattoo. He made me feel calm and comfortable, like I could really be myself, and as a person who struggles with anxiety, I really appreciated that. It is now day 3 and I have no pain from my nostril piercing or four tattoos. I am also the biggest baby when it comes to pain lol. I HIGHLY recommend visiting their shop and are certainly considering driving 13 hours back there for any other piercings or tattoos that I want in the future. Service: Nose piercing

Demeris Morse: Tried to call all three locations and nobody picked up. The online appointment system also took multiple hours to get a response. I was just looking for a simple jewelry change and purchase, which shouldn’t require a laborious online system and lack of communication.
Catherine Cassell: I was recommended Fatty’s by a piercer of mine in another city and I happened to be in the area and walked in without an appointment. Dani had some time and took me immediately! I already had a piece of jewelry with me that I needed to get pierced and she immediately had it sanitized and pierced! She was incredibly kind and my piercing looks amazing. Will likely be coming back for a new piercing once this one heals :)
Tiff: Ladies, do yourself a huge favor and avoid this shop. I booked an appointment at this location because my usual piercing shop isn’t doing under-the-mask piercings, so Michael reached out to me and accepted my request immediately. But when I tell you how uncomfortable this man made me feel… please. Go elsewhere. He did an amazing job on my piercings BUT he will harass you and give you his number to try to get you to go on a date with him. Don’t do it. Go to Brilliance Piercing in Vienna, VA instead.

Charlotte Somol: Super easy setting up an appointment, quick response time, and giving me an estimated price range based on the photos I sent. The people at the shop were very friendly and welcoming. Nico did my tattoo which was a relatively simple piece on my neck. He was very helpful as it was my first time getting a tattoo done and the process was very quick and easy. Very clean and sanitized area and barely hurt at all. Gave me lots of aftercare advice and the whole process was done in about 30-40 minutes. Highly recommend!
Skye Curry: Was planning on just walking around a bit after dinner, but saw this place and on a limb decided to go in and get a tattoo! They are always honest about tattoo art, and will tell you if it is in an area that will make it fade or something they are not comfortable doing. Mallory Jones: I was strolling down M st and popped in with the goal to buy new a nose ring. I had gotten my nose pierced 6 months ago, but it wasn’t healing as I expected. As i was looking in the jewelry counter, Karl offered to help me. I shared with her my desires to switch out my ring and that when she told me that I had what they call a “piercing pimple”. She gave me advice on how to fix it and told me to come back and see her in a month if it wasn’t better. I saw improvements in just ONE WEEK and couldn’t be happier. Diego Geisner: My experience with Brian was great! I was only in the DC area for a limited amount of time on leave, but I had a consultation with Brian on a Thursday and he was able to fit me in his schedule before I left a few days later(on New Year’s Day). I really appreciated his flexibility. He was so dedicated we ended up staying pretty late to finish, and I am very happy with the beautiful tattoo he gave me. I have been complimented countless times on it and I feel great every time I look in the mirror. It was as painless as I could have hoped for, and it still looks amazing now that it’s healed. I look forward to working with him again in the future!
Taylor Carvalho: Kyle at the H Street location is SO wonderful. I submitted a request to make an appointment for two more ear piercings. He responded super quickly to set the appointment. When I arrived, he was welcoming and helpful picking out my new pieces. He walked through everything he was going to do step by step and was seriously such a joy. I barely felt it, and it’s now better than my original piercing. Price felt very fair too. I will say that I would’ve loved a way to schedule an appointment online without having to message, but overall it was a great experience and I would/will recommend this place!

Miranda Cross: Nate and the entire staff at Tattoo Paradise are amazing— I have gotten 2 tattoos done here and both have been phenomenal experiences. The shop is clean and reasonably priced for DC. My first tattoo was of a handwriting sample and Nate was able to do it within a week after I emailed the contact form on the website to set a date. The second piece was an addition to an existing tattoo (picture) and Nate did an absolutely stunning job matching the new art to old with a combo of pre-done design and freehand drawn leaves and stems to integrate the two tattoos. I was able to work the design out with him in advance via email. The staff is entirely professional and kind— their piercer even took the time to explain what had gone wrong with a previous cartilage piercing I had done (not at tattoo parlor) and give me some suggestions for fixing it. If you are local or visiting I would highly highly recommend this shop, especially if you email them with availability in advance.

Alex Riesner: Tattoo paradise was pretty exciting. My girlfriend and I went there to get our nipples pierced. We were referred to this place from another Tattoo shop and I was throughly happy with my experience here. The shop itself is pretty small and when I called I was told that piercing is not a booked appointment but a walk-in, first come first served situation. Absolutely fine, we come in on Monday and the shop looks phenomenal! Art on the walls and jewelry in cases, very clean and fun to look at. I fill out the paperwork and we are seen in no time at all. The woman the pierced us was extremely polite and respectful. She was professional throughout the whole experience, going over how to clean and maintain everything, what to do and what not to do and how long it would take to heal. Once we were done, it was a smooth recovery process from there. I would 100% recommend coming here again.
Brandon Sousa: I went here for an ear piercing and had a great experience. Patti is an excellent piercer, very professional, fast, seemed like going to a capable physician rather than a body piercing. Cost seemed fairly high but I’m sure I’m just unfamiliar with piercing costs — it was $110 and a $20 tip for standard ear lobe piercings. The shop itself is clean but not very well-appointed. Just a large open space with a tiny bench for waiting by the window.

Kera: Straight weirdo behavior & a very incompetent front desk person. Doesn’t know prices/jewelry sizing. Kept questioning my knowledge of my OWN body anatomy. I know exactly what I came in there for & what size I ALREADY have in/want. Wasted an hour of my day/time waiting for the piercer that never came out to service us. Mind you, we’ve been calling for weeks and even came in person to receive piercings and she’d NEVER be there. Bad experience all around. Unprofessional and awkward customer service. From ALL STAFF.

Courtney Chrisman: Just got another tattoo here all by Trevor, fantastic experiences each time, I’m in love with my ink! But I also wanted to take a moment to say how well I think they’re handling being reopen in the pandemic. Appointments only keep it to only a few people inside at once, everything clean and sanitized. While waiting I overheard the piercer explaining to another client how to care new nose or earring while wearing masks every day which I loved!

Meron Campbell: Great experience here! My naval piercing was a little pricey, but the jewelry I got is super cute which makes up for it! The piercer was well informed and very clean, and there was hardly a wait despite me being a walk-in. The piercing was over with quickly, and there was literally no pain at all; it didn’t even pinch! He gave me information for aftercare, and even though I’ve heard horror stories about how bad the healing process can be for a naval piercing, mine has gone super smoothly! Andrea Sevilla: I emailed them to get a quote for a tattoo but the artists I wanted weren’t available which is okay so I decided to go with Lola since she had openings. She wanted to do a video call or FaceTime to discuss further but when the day of the appointment came she didn’t reach out. I didn’t receive a call or an email to reschedule so I emailed them to do so. The second time I also got stood up by the artist and didn’t get any notification about it or an apology, no explanation as to why she hadn’t reached out to me both times either. They called me a week later wanting to reschedule for the third time but at that point I had completely lost any interest in her as an artist because it doesn’t really matter how good you are, you can’t be unprofessional and stand up people twice and expect them to still want to work with you. I’m sure she’s talented but I can’t give my money and trust to someone that doesn’t have any sort of respect my time.
marina castaneda: Roman pierced my nipples and did an amazing job, he took his time and did not make me feel rushed with the process at all. He took his time with my questions and understood my circumstances and was letting me decide if it was what I really wanted to get done. He also did two of friends nipples as well and they said nothing but good things to say about him. If you want someone to trust, go with Roman. He is NOT a creep, doesn’t make you feel rushed and lets you ask any questions you may have. Thanks Roman!

Nicholas Daou: Tried to schedule an appointment with Lola, she flaked. I reached out to the shop who apologized and then I was assured she wouldn’t flake on the next consult FaceTime. Surprise surprise, she flaked and didn’t even answer the receptionist who tried to get ahold of her. She pulled a similar thing on a friend of mine, actually skipping a session and not just a consult call. Definitely not impressed and going to have to find a different shop to go to.
Amber Nicole: This shop is dangerous to BIPOC and exhibits many concerning racist behaviors toward black patrons. The front desk worker is hostile and the staff are incompetent on how to tattoo black and brown skin. This is a basic standard skill any artist should be well trained in, especially in a neighborhood that is predominantly black and Latinx. The lack of this shows a blatant refusal to adapt to the times and treat people with basic kindness and dignity.

Britta Buchanan: I go my tattoo in December 2016. Absolute tattoo newbie here. I went to Laughing Hyena because it had excellent reviews online and happened to be close to my apartment, and it did not disappoint. I worked with Isaac, who was friendly, down-to-earth, and knew exactly what he was doing. He drew up my design in two minutes and my tattoo was done in another two minutes. Since he knew this was my first tattoo, he gave me very clear instructions and advice for caring for it. He also guided me along in the tattoo process, emphasizing the sanitary measures Laughing Hyena always takes, and giving me tips for what to look for in a high quality tattoo shops for future reference. I was a bit nervous about getting my first tattoo and wanted to make sure I was going to an establishment that took their work and their customers seriously. I found both of those qualities in Laughing Hyena and would definitely go there again/recommend it to others.

Amber Kenya: Appointment only for a customer to *purchase* jewelry is ridiculous. The piercer said it’s because they have to sterilize the jewelry + whatever else. This would take all of 20 minutes which he said would push him back with other clients. All in all, Fatty’s is price gauging under the guise of safety.

I found one girl and she gave me the wrong gauge size or size she wanted me to have. So I needed to the switch my rings out for the size I asked for because I’m pregnant and my body is changing. Ppl literally were like we don’t know much about that can’t help you. I found Fatty’s through BVLA’s retailers locator. I communicated with Denis what I was looking for through the websites communication portal. I also appreciated I was able to see some of the jewelry they sell. I’m so happy I found Denis and this establishment. I had an amazing experience! The environment is super clean, I have OCD so I know. Denis’ energy is top tier I want to bottle it! He made me feel so comfortable and distracted me when I felt a little pain while switching everything out lol. Because everything is tender right now even though these piercings are healed. He has a super gentle touch. I’m definitely going back to purchase additional jewelry for all of my piercings. I would definitely recommend Denis to all my pregnant girls who want to keep their piercings! Anyone who wants a grand experience!

She felt safe and in control of the experience. The place was clean and the piercing came out beautifully. Other than the second pinch, it was a painless experience. E Kargbo: I enjoyed coming here to get my tragus. Found this out about this piercing place on Google, and eventually, a colleague told me she goes here for piercing. I was a little confused about the price point because somebody told me over for one piercing it would be $30.00 (phone call to establishment). Once I arrived there for the earring and piercing the total was $170.00(one ear). Given I had a horrible issue with my belly button I just paid the price because I just wanted my piercing. So far it has been about a week and a half and no complaints. I’m cleaning it constantly and I don’t regret getting it done. I would recommend you come to this establishment but make sure your pockets are heavy. Two Tragus Piercings (14k gold)= $340.00

After my experience there I can definitely say they lived up to the hype. Blake was friendly, patient, and professional. He took the time to explain every part of the piercing and sterilization process and ensure that I was fully comfortable at all times. Highly recommend!

She was so nice and talked me through everything. Healing process was great too. I had no issues at all! I’m getting my belly button piercing done this saturday there. I’m super excited for it. I love this place more than any other piercing place.

They helped me pick out a new nose ring but were also willing to just help me put in my old one. They sanitized my jewelry & it took not even 2 mins for them to put the stud back in my nose! They made my experience so easy & I would recommend them to someone either for a jewelry change or a piercing!
Laura Swift: The staff is so sweet and the whole operation is extremely professional. Great experience, love my nose piercing, and would absolutely recommend. Amy walked me through the whole thing and i was never rushed, even as we waited to make sure i didn’t faint after (it was quick and pretty painless, but my body needed a few minutes to recover). Very clean and sanitary from top to bottom, and the front desk lady was running a tight ship and giving everyone great service despite multiple appts/walk-ins happening at once. Nice jewelry selection too, but it was the staff that really deserve the recognition.

Emily Reid Campbell: Rick’s Tattoos is awesome. Zak Warren did a fantastic job on my first tattoo EVER, and I absolutely love it. And Zak. And Rick’s. Best experience I could have imagined. (And since I took 41 years to get my nerve up to do this, I’ve imagined a TON.) I could not be happier with it. The lines are beautifully clear and crisp, and the execution is exactly what I wanted in every way. I love it and will definitely go back when/if I ever decide on another one. My husband had a similarly great experience with a more senior artist there, Ben Krist. His tattoo is a larger and extremely intricate geometric line design, with overlapping circles and tons of detailed symmetry that required serious tattoo artist skills to pull off. I actually thought it was crazy to even try. But Ben did it perfectly. These guys are good. I don’t have personal experience with the other artists there, but all seem to get rave reviews across the board. You can call ahead to discuss artists and appointment options if you want, or just walk-in anytime and sign in at the desk (just like you might do at a nail salon). I know I asked them lots of questions, on the phone and in the shop, and they were very helpful and happy to answer them every time. (Or at least they pretended to be happy, which works just as well for me. :)) Yay for Rick’s.

Malyssa Moore: *** DO NOT GO TO JIMMY HAYDEN. I went in on 05/29/2021 with my best friend to finally get matching tattoos after six great years of friendship. I live in Illinois, my friend lives in Alexandria, so she went into the shop to set up the appointment. After attempting to contact the artist multiple times for the final designs (including the day before the appointment), he had sent nothing, nor responded. The artist’s name is Jimmy Hayden, and as soon as we arrived for our appointment, his first words were “Sorry I didn’t email you back,” cause he had seen the emails and neglected to be professional. I went first and my tattoo healed well, even though three spots are not connected. Our tattoos contained pink and black ink, simple line work, and it cost $150 each, and we both tipped (of course). My friend went second and he must have really not cared because the pink line work done on her arm has faded into looking like she got it done on someone’s couch (her tattoo is the second picture, taken on 06/18/2021 once it was fully healed). So if you want a quality tattoo, even if it’s a simple one, DO NOT go to Jimmy Hayden. I can’t speak for the other artists but I would not recommend this shop when they employee tattoo artists that don’t take pride in their own work. Thankfully we have someone who is willing to touch it up for free and takes their job seriously. Thanks for the outline, will go to a better shop next time and never bother with this place again.

The shop and materials were super clean, and he is the only artist that works out of the spot, and keeps plenty of time between appointments so it’s never crowded and he can focus on you and you alone. I’ll probably be headed back in due time.

Not to mention the bar was extremely short which left no room for swelling. The price was ridiculous and i started to walk out when he went down on the price a little. I should have kept going🤦🏾 I would not recommend this place at all.

Sydney Acuff: I went to Pop’s Tattoo to get my nipples pierced and they did an amazing. I had Chuck pierced them and he was so professional but also incredibly friendly and kind. He made me feel so relaxed and at ease. My piercings went really quick and barely hurt or bled. They have an amazing piercing deal that is one for $40 and a pair for $60! It was such a good deal I was worried it would be shady but it was so legit and professional!

Abbie Bellos: I had a great experience here! I 100% recommend getting your first, second, or one hundredth piercing here! Eddy is so knowledgeable in his field and does everything in his best effort to ensure you are comfortable and safe. He explains everything to you in detail including the healing process, and he even lets you check the sterilization of his tools. When he pierced my nose it was pretty much painless and very well done. I recommended Eddy to my friend and she agrees that he is great at what he does! Ashley: Had an amazing experience with Rob. Did a matching tattoo with my best friend. We originally went to the DC location but they didn’t want to give us the time of day. We told them we were flexible about what we wanted but the artist didn’t want to bother and would only do appointments for what we wanted. When we went to this location, Leo, who helped us when we arrived was so friendly and professional and helped us bring together what we wanted with what they had time to do. Lore S: Very unhappy with an incident that just happened. My cousin and I looked up locations around our area accepting walk ins even called ahead to double check. We arrived a bit before 5pm, discussed what we wanted and agreed on pricing. We were given the option of waiting around until 6:30 or leaving and coming back after placing a $100 deposit. Decided to wait since we had no other plans to which we were even told that was probably better bc if the artist finished before schedule we could go. These two girls walked in way after us and they were helped before us and we were told absolutely nothing. Not until we asked why and there was no justification to why they were so accommodating to them. I found this to be very unprofessional, inconsiderate, and unfair. Our tattoos were small and simple. Not sure how you expect a client to feel about this? The front desk personnel try to say they had an appt when they clearly didn’t. I was even considering spending a good amount of money here for a bigger tattoo. Glad I didn’t, waste of time is all it was!

Katrina Leggat: I love my new eyebrows! I have gotten so many compliments and they are exactly what I wanted. Phoebe was excellent at helping come up with the type of brow-look that I wanted and walked me through the process. I had no difficulties during the healing process. I went for a subtle and natural look with combination powder/micro-bladed eyebrows. I wanted to keep the shape as close to my natural eyebrows as possible, but fill them in and shape them subtly. After years of over-plucking my eyebrows needed the help!

Tayler Fischer: I’ve been coming to Mister Finsters for a couple years getting tattooed by Fin and finally got around to getting my eyebrows cosmetically tattooed by their amazing artist Phoebe!! Phoebe was so professional and educational throughout the whole process. Everything was very clean and her attention detail made the process so enjoyable. We had plenty of laughs throughout the session and she made sure to keep my eyebrows nice and numb making the process pain free. Phoebe did a great job with the shaping of my brows and helping me pick the tattooing style and color to use on them. Milo Astudillo: George is an outstanding, professional body piercer he makes you feel comfortable in his chair and super efficient regarding the actual piercing itself. All his techniques and practices are hygienic and make you feel confident that he knows what he is doing. I have gotten 3 piercings from his and every single one has been super quick and minimal discomfort, especially the nose piercing you can tell he has much experience because it was literally a quick pinch and it was done! Mallory Sutton: I work down the street from Brilliance and wanted to finally get pierced again since the start of pandemic, so I decided to check them out! Was able to score an appointment slot so I got a pair of nipple piercings done by Tobias about 3 months ago and they’re healing BEAUTIFULLY. Tobias was so professional and thoroughly explained everything they were doing during my appointment, and they helped me feel a lot more comfortable/less nervous! I also really appreciate their COVID-related store policies; the appointment-based system ensures you’re the only client in the studio and their text-based system for pick-up is so efficient. It made me more comfortable than other piercing studios in the area which is a big reason why I went to Brilliance Piercing. The jewelry is also high quality and I’m so excited to book a styling appointment soon when I save up some money!
ZARA WAHLA: I went there yesterday and had a very good experience. I was originally quite nervous as I don’t have a lot of knowledge about piercings and wasn’t sure where to get them placed or what jewelry to get. There is such a large selection of beautiful, high quality jewelry there and the person at the front desk helped me choose pieces. As for the piercing, Tobias was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me before he did it. I was very comfortable and will come back here once these piercings heal to get more and look at more jewelry. Highly recommend.

Camryn Craig: I ordered a beautiful Pupil Hall septum clicker from the online store back in March as a birthday/college graduation present to myself. The website was easy to use and the piece was shipped quickly and packed very nicely. I put the piece in and, unfortunately, awoke to it broken in half. I emailed the studio and they helped facilitate a return to Pupil Hall. Since it broke in such a strange way, Pupil Hall replaced it. The studio shipped a new piece to me just in time for me to wear for my college graduation! Surprisingly, it was packaged EVEN BETTER the second time. I am beyond impressed with my experience (coming from someone who has always been very committed to my local studio)! I am absolutely in love with my new jewelry.
Bear Reed: Weird experience, I drove an hour to come here specifically. Needed high quality jewelry. was early, knocked on the door the girl said can’t do anything we are still opening. How hard is it to go out of your way to get someone a piece of jewelry. I just went out of my way to come here. Apparently customer service isn’t a service provided. If anyone walked into my studio closed or not just needed something very quick had all exact sizing. 3/8 (10mm) septum ring or (clicker,) 16 with 3mm ball ends titanium internally threaded. Also included that im a body modication artist also with over 300,000 followers on social media I would have been stoked to let a fellow artist in.
Maryam Davoodi: Jen and Tobias are fantastic. Tobias has pierced me many times in 2016 and Jen was piercing me from 2017-2020. The shop has such a wide selection of jewelry and it really helps that Jen can recommend piercings and placement. Wish I still lived in VA just so I could go here.
