Rene D: Linda is an extraordinary teacher - kind, sincere, professional, patient, and supportive. Lessons are well-structured yet fun. Kids are super comfortable and excited to learn piano...I highly recommend her!

Bronwyn Dalton Clark: We shopped for a piano teacher and knew that Ms Fotis would be a perfect fit for our daughter when we met her. Her classes are well structured and organized with binders that young children can follow and use easily. She is patient and nurturing as she encourages, yet holds the student to an appropriate and high standard. And she is fun! Kids find her engaging and delightful. Highly recommend.

Sharon Amorosi: We’ve been student of Ms. Fotis for 10 years and love her! She makes piano fun for all 3 of my children AND they are technically beautiful players.

Katelin Dial: My daughter has loved every single lesson at Joy of Music! She has also developed a true passion for music and piano. It’s a true gift.

Linda Fotis: Finishing up a stellar Fall Semester of Piano Lessons with an ALL STAR Thanksgiving Recital. Congratulations to my students for playing beautifully with musicality and verve. Happy Thanksgiving.

Fernanda Nicola: Linda is terrific with children as she can make them excited about practicing and tailors each class experience to their personality!

Tobey Collins: Life changing piano experience for our now 17 year old. Can’t recommend Linda highly enough!!

Allison Jenkins: Exceptional, personalized instruction - brought music into our home and lives!

Studio V: Private Musical Instruction: what do users think?

Jonah Erickson: Matthew is one of the best music teachers I have ever had. He has an incredible ability to identify and fix the individual weaknesses in each student and has helped me make huge improvements in a short time. He is experienced, knowledgeable and has an undeniable passion for teaching students how to play the piano. I would recommend him to anyone from beginner to professional.

Van Koppersmith: Piano lessons with Matthew have been a great experience. I stopped playing about 25 years ago (other than a couple failed attempts to pick it back up) so I was effectively a beginner when I joined the studio. He is welcoming to all levels and has his own book for the basics. Rather than just practice a piece and move on, Matthew spends time teaching the theory and history behind classical music and makes sure you understand why a particular piece is chosen and how to approach it. Everything is extremely detailed and deliberate and this leads to very quick learning and a much more completely understanding of the music. Beyond that, his studio is a community and students get opportunities to meet each other through various events Matthew hosts. This has been a great experience and I highly recommend it if you want to learn and understand how to play piano rather than just memorize a few basic pieces in a haphazard manner (as were my previous lesson experiences).

Lessons In Your Home: what do users think?

Michael: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThis made getting lessons for my 3 kids a snap. I even started taking guitar lessons with them. They found Josh who can teach the kids piano and guitar for myself. Kids are having a blast and I am enjoying picking up the guitar again. Josh is great. Patient with the kids and myself. He is a real pleasure.

Christina Malekiani: We have had a wonderful experience with both of our children and LIYH. We have been clients since before covid and have been impressed with their rapid changes in protocols for covid that were simultaneously so smooth and made for easy transitions for the kids. After also taking a hiatus from one instrument for one child, LIYH was so helpful in transitioning that child back to another instrument and with a different coach that was an even better fit. Heather is extremely professional and proactive and an excellent communicator. She listens well to what each family and child needs and guides appropriately with her recommendations and seems to be spot on. Joseph has been absolutely amazing with our daughter on guitar—one of the most patient, kind teachers we have seen and knows how to keep her motivated and excited. She loves him and can’t wait for lessons each week with him! Nicole has been wonderful on piano with our son and knows how to challenge him appropriately while still keeping him encouraged. We have been extremely pleased with LIYH and will continue to work with them as long as our kids keep enjoying playing an instrument.

Tammie Dzubak: My son is a beginner at violin. Joseph has successfully taught him via Zoom (due to the pandemic). Joseph is patient, encouraging, and motivating. He truly understands how to teach children. Most importantly Joseph has instilled confidence in him and he is eager to practice daily. We look forward to a time when Joseph and my son can practice together.

Fallon McNeil: Steve Boone (Richmond VA) is so kind, patient, and fun with our two children (ages 10 and 7). Their excitement and love for music has only increased since starting lessons with him. Heather made the enrollment process effortless and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We have had a WONDERFUL experience with this company. Thank you!

Jonathan Moak: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueLiz has been such a patient and professional piano coach for our daughter. I have really enjoyed watching my 6 year old learn. Highly recommended.

Dudley's B Sharp Academy: what do users think?

Lisa Jamison: A great learning experience! Being a beginner piano student, the training I received from Mr. Dudley was great especially since I didn’t know my way around the piano. He is very patient and thorough. I definitely would recommend this studio for all your musical ambitions!

fatima khambaty: Mr Dudley is patient and meets you right where you are- even as an adult student . He was able to assess me right away and we jumped right back (after my break of 25 years) into piano Lessons. He understands even though I have no jazz background how to get me to start thinking differently from my classical training. Honestly- he makes learning fun, easy and less daunting ! Thank you !

Lamia Matta: My 5-year old daughter loved taking ukulele classes with Mr. Dudley. After only a few classes, she became very enthusiastic about playing music. The classes also gave her a lot of confidence. Mr. Dudley is super kind and has a very very nice manner. I highly highly recommend the school.

HARVEY Harris: He is an excellent teacher and my 8y/o son has learned so much in a short time. He gets right down to business, and he allows him to advance at his own pace. My son looks forward to piano lessons every week. I would recommend him to anyone; a true christian demeanor on top of it all.

Bruce Britton: Working with Coach Dudley has been an amazing experience, He is very encouraging and I like that he pushes you put of your comfort zone in order for you to grow as a vocalist. I have worked with him and seen improvement as a singer. I definitely would recommend taking up his classes to anyone!

Natasha: Mr Dudley is great! My kiddos (ages 5&3) love taking lessons with him. I especially appreciate his approach in teaching younger kids.

kara taylor: Amazing, amazing, amazing. One lesson and I saw my daughter shine! She is autistic with add and Darryl was so patient with her. I am a thankful and proud mom.

Greta Burrows: Both my kids really like their instructors. They are patient and knowledgeable. My son has been playing piano for over 6 years and my daughter started violin.

Karmen Armitage: My son has learned more piano in eight months of instruction then he did in eighteen months with his prior teacher. He incorporates all of the important aspects of a musical education in his lessons.

Yuriko Puryear: I would recommend her anytime for guitar lessons. My son has learned a lot considering he has only been taking lessons since the end of September.

Dorathy Conner: Not only is he damn good on the guitar, but he is a really good teacher. He knew right away what I am capable of and came up with a lesson plan that is awesome.

Middle C Music: what do users think?

James Hurwitz: Without reservation, Middle C Music deserves the highest possible recommendation. They did a superb job of cleaning up and giving an overall tune-up to my antique guitar and repairing my antique mandolin. In the process, I saw how the staff at Middle C —Nick, Tom, Dave and Hillary — interacted not just with me but customers and students of all ages and abilities. What I appreciated most was their low key manner and the pleasure they took in enhancing the joy that others got from their instruments, music, and lessons. This is truly an excellent music store.

Gillian Edick: We popped into Middle C to have a guitar restrung and tuned. They did it quickly, but more importantly made it great fun for my aspiring but beginner guitarist. Tom was amazing - so helpful and took the time to show my son how to tune the guitar, hold it and get started. Really fantastic service. Thanks Tom and team!

Paul Myers: I purchased a piano from these fine people, and I love it. It was very competitively priced. I have also purchased a guitar, and I have had these folks restring several guitars, and they do a great job —and again, the price is right. I love supporting small businesses, and Middle C Music is one of the best!

Fernando Nogueira: Super friendly and helpful staff. We were missing a very specific guitar screw and they helped us out in no time.

Susanna Gregory: I LOVED it here! Stopped by for a new guitar and the staff was immediately willing to help and super friendly. The prices were great and I was really impressed with all the cool little things you could buy too! I didn’t get the names of the people who helped me but they were fantastic

Michelle Long: I had the best time at Middle C Music! Everyone was super knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. I came in looking for a 3/4 size acoustic guitar for traveling and had my pick of a beautiful selection. Big fan!! Will return!

Despite it’s still being online, she still learns a lot. Maria Abreu-Blanco: We have attended for a couple of years, on the early childhood program. My son participated in the group classes, he loved his teacher and it was a great experience overall. Now we hove move to private lessons, piano, the instructor is great and my kid enjoys the lessons.

They are just starting out on their musical journey and this can be a challenge for both the kids, and the teachers. We really appreciate the patience of the instructor - she is really doing a good job introducing our kids to music and is patient with them. The front desk staff is very friendly too and helps us quite a bit to set the weekly schedule. The new location is perfect for us and the facilities are really nice!

Elizabeth Clifton: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueISM has great, timely communication, especially during these days of requiring on-the-spot technical coordination and they have been excellent about providing extra time when technical struggles prevent on-time starts. Elza Ritter Piano Academy: what do users think?

Jeffery Herrin: Ms. Ritter is a very professional, classically trained and patient piano and vocal teacher. Ms. Ritter understands the needs of her students and homework assignments and exercises aid the student’s success and motivation in acquiring the desired skills. We are happy that we found the Russian Music Academy of America and it has been a very rewarding experience and our daughter is striving.

Nina Zaretsky: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueElza Ritter is an accomplished pianist and a magnificent teacher. She is very patient and kind. I have been playing the piano on and off for over 30 years, and still have learned so much from her in the year that I have studied with her. I feel so lucky to have found her!

Fran Travers: I started piano lessons as an adult and was lucky to have Prof. Elza Ritter for my first teacher. She teaches all ages and all levels with amazing results. She stresses technique from the beginning with a kind yet structured approach. She is a wonderful teacher.

Marine Savoure: I have been studying with Ms. Elza for around 6 years. She is simply amazing, both as a person, pianist, and teacher. Her mix of the Russian and American teaching techniques result in the perfect combination of warmth, enjoyment, and hard work. She succeeds in making her students play music, not only notes. The very way she speaks to you, rectifies your errors, or praises you, makes you want to improve your playing. Thanks to her nature, you naturally want to come to your lesson having worked on your piece. And if you feel you could have done better, Ms. Elza’s smile encourages you to do just that. Ms. Elza has truly instilled in me a love of music, a love of piano. It’s not always easy, as, just like everything, piano requires a lot of hard work. Sometimes it’s hard to practice regularly. But Ms. Elza teaches me to think on my own. She doesn’t only tell you what you have to improve and work on. She lets you develop your own ear for music. Ms. Elza pays attention to each and every one of her students, not as a group, but looking at their individual selves, and adjusting to everyone’s unique personality. She picks out pieces based on the person who will be playing them, and lets us have a voice in the matter as well. The skills I have learned in these classes, which don’t only apply to piano, will follow me throughout my life. Although due to moving, I won’t be able to keep Ms. Elza as my teacher, she will definitely stay a dear mentor and friend.

anastasia pestova: Elza Ritter is an amazing and incredibly gifted piano instructor. She focuses on all aspects of student development including ear and voice training. She is a highly trained pianist herself and is able to play impromptu duets with her students! In my time with her I have progressed in reading sheet music, hand position, posture, and also learned music theory. I highly recommend this piano school !

Fran Travers: All three of my now adult children took piano lessons when they were children. So I have seen many piano teachers and I would rate Professor Ritter as the best of all. Her student recitals are not only enjoyable but are top notch performances by beautiful disciplined children demonstrating Professor Ritter’s Russian technique. As a teacher, she is fun and kind yet disciplined and well structured. I would give her a five star plus rating if there were one.

Natalia Moskovchenko: Ms. Elsa is a great teacher with passion for music and musical education. She inspires her students and shares her love for music with them. Her lessons are always fun and they are not just one-on-one instructions. Sometimes students get together and share their progress in a very easy, no-pressure way with each other. Under her loving but steady guidance her students are thriving!!

Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center: what do users think?

Carlton Jones: Chuck Levins Washington Music Center, has been the most anticipated retail store visit since I was 13 years old. Every local musician I know in DC has spent time and money at Chuck’s. I recently made a purchase and it went as all my transactions made there since approx 1970. This time it was online but a very personal affair, Adam Levin was helpful and more accommodating that an old guy could ask for. It was still like xmas awaiting my package that came overnight and with a wonderful gift. I can honestly say it was the most emotional purchase I’ve made in decades, not the most expensive, not a life changing acquisition just a memory evoking moment that included family members and friends passed on that I think of frequently whom I spent many hours playing music with and having the best times of my life. Me, my family, friends and Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center…. Thanks again Adam, if this is my last purchase please know they have all been the best!

Rachel Ellis: Bought my fiancé a guitar here a year ago. Sales person was friendly and helpful. Good covid protocol for the time. Sales people weren’t pushy and were well informed on guitars. Bought the Taylor GS Mini and it’s been a great guitar. Would definitely check them out if you’re in the market for an instrument. Only downside was slightly outdated equipment/billing systems, but nothing a little patience doesn’t fix.

Richard Capeless: My experience was through an online order and I am here to testify to their exceptional customer service. I had a small problem with a piece of gear I was really excited to get, and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate me. General manager Adam Levin reach out to me and oversaw my exchange. That kind of personal touch made it clear that they care about their customers.

Bryce Wagner: I worked personally with Pete Fleming to order my new bass amp. I saw a post on Reverb for an amp I had been looking for and Pete was very helpful. I’d also like to mention that he made me feel safe making such an expensive purchase over the phone for it to be shipped to my home town. Pete even went back to the warehouse to grab the amp because we both couldn’t believe they actually had one in stock. As soon as I paid, it was removed from reverb and he’s sent me receipts very swiftly to assure it was mine! I would highly recommend this store. If I had one complaint, it’s that it isn’t in my hometown. Haha

Gary Rosen: Ordered on-line and called when I got there. Brought my purchase right to my car. Shop local! Spent a bunch of time there today with Pete who was super helpful in helping me decide what guitar to consider

dylanvs: I ordered a yamaha dtx8k mesh electric kit online. This kit was impossible to find anywhere else backordered on every other music site i went to so i was already happy i found it here. They got it to me quick using a freight company called distribution by air, i think it took just about a week which is good considering it was an entire pallet of boxes. The customer service from both the freight company and chuck levins was great, both companies reached out concerning my delivery making sure i could be there to sign and to let them know id got my shipment. Also the shop pay option for 4 installments is a huge plus! Couldnt ask for more

Mitzo: The staff are amazing, a huge variety of musical equipment, and I managed to get rototoms at over a 90% discount! If you’re in the area I 100% recommend stopping here

Vassilios Vassiliadis-Laouto Lobby: Fantastic local music store. Customer service is awesome and the manager Dave Belazis always goes above and beyond to help you get the best deal. They also offer musical classes and sell any type of musical instrument, accessories and equipment. I rather support this nice store than other online or other real music shops.

Dale Dean: Extremely professional service allowed me to find the right edition of sheet music that I wanted. And we conferred back and forth by text messages before I even entered the store to pick up the edition. Outstanding and responsive treatment.

T King: Very cool old school music shop, lotta different instruments, sheet music etc. Not sure how competitive prices on guitar amps are. Fun to browse. Looks like the do lessons and repairs, too.

aria moshrefi: Came in just to exchange the rental violin for my son. Brian A was so helpful. He showed us the problem was was not the size of the violin but the locations of the tape was not correct. Excellent free assistance by such a nice employee Thank you you so much !

Christine Hill: I went to Foxes music just to come see and admire the store cause of all the instruments. It was my first time going there and usually i’m a anxious mess kind of a person. I was immediately greated by good ol Dave! (Welcoming and friendly) He showed me some books, amps, intruments, etc. demoed some pedals. Not once was there a pressure to buy or anything which was super nice! No sales pitch and I thoroughly appreciated that. I saw this mustang and he showed it to me and all was history! I walked out with a slammin deal and stand in top of that! Thanks so much Dave! Will definitely be coming back!
