TR Music & Voice Lessons: what do users think?

Greta Burrows: Both my kids really like their instructors. They are patient and knowledgeable. My son has been playing piano for over 6 years and my daughter started violin.
Response: Hi Greta, Thank you for the wonderful review! We have lots of great instructors in the Washington area but we are so glad to hear that your kids learned so much with their music lessons instructor. Keep us updated on their progress!

Karmen Armitage: My son has learned more piano in eight months of instruction then he did in eighteen months with his prior teacher. He incorporates all of the important aspects of a musical education in his lessons.

Yuriko Puryear: I would recommend her anytime for guitar lessons. My son has learned a lot considering he has only been taking lessons since the end of September.
Response: Great to hear from you. Always good to hear of more success with our music lessons instructor there in Washington. Thanks for wonderful review!

Sherryl Murr: If you need piano lessons, contact him. His price is very reasonable and he's just a great guy. I highly recommend him!
Response: Thanks for the feedback and review Sherryl! He is a phenomenal instructor and we are lucky to have him here in Washington.

Dorathy Conner: Not only is he damn good on the guitar, but he is a really good teacher. He knew right away what I am capable of and came up with a lesson plan that is awesome.
Response: Wow, good guitar instructor ever is a great compliment. I'll let her know that all is good at our Washington music lessons studio.

Gussie Levine: She is patient, makes it fun, and adheres to each individual student's needs.

Middle C Music: what do users think?

James Hurwitz: Without reservation, Middle C Music deserves the highest possible recommendation. They did a superb job of cleaning up and giving an overall tune-up to my antique guitar and repairing my antique mandolin. In the process, I saw how the staff at Middle C —Nick, Tom, Dave and Hillary — interacted not just with me but customers and students of all ages and abilities. What I appreciated most was their low key manner and the pleasure they took in enhancing the joy that others got from their instruments, music, and lessons. This is truly an excellent music store.
Response: Thanks so much for all your kind words, Jim! Always a pleasure working with you, and of course, you're welcome back anytime-- in fact, if you drop by on the 19th, we'll be having a 20th anniversary celebration with cake, prizes, and live performances. We're honored to be your local music store, and hope to continue serving you and maintaining your lovely instruments for years to come. -Tom F.

Gillian Edick: We popped into Middle C to have a guitar restrung and tuned. They did it quickly, but more importantly made it great fun for my aspiring but beginner guitarist. Tom was amazing - so helpful and took the time to show my son how to tune the guitar, hold it and get started. Really fantastic service. Thanks Tom and team!
Response: Thanks so much, Gillian. Helping musicians have fun getting started is one of my favorite things about working in our community. Come back anytime to show off his progress! -T

Paul Myers: I purchased a piano from these fine people, and I love it. It was very competitively priced. I have also purchased a guitar, and I have had these folks restring several guitars, and they do a great job —and again, the price is right. I love supporting small businesses, and Middle C Music is one of the best!
Response: Thanks so much! Very kind words. Glad you're enjoying the piano.

Phyllis Pierce: I had a small (thankfully) issue with the guitar I'm teaching myself to play. So I took it to Middle C in hopes they could fix it and it wouldn't be away from me too long. They fixed my issue on the spot and for free!! They are very friendly and that guy really knew his guitars. I think they have a long term customer here!!
Response: Thanks for stopping by Phyllis! We're looking forward to seeing you back at Middle C soon. If you have time this Saturday, why not drop by for our 20th Anniversary celebration? We'll have cake, prizes, and live performances happening all day long!

Christopher Tripoli: I fell in love with an instrument I found here called a "U-Bass," but I'm left-handed so couldn't use the one on display. Had them order a lefty model for me, and couldn't be happier with their service! Tom F was excellent to work with. A fun neighborhood store that I eagerly recommend!
Response: Thanks for the review, Chris! I'm really happy we were able to deliver. Come back and show off your U-Bass skills anytime! -TF

Fernando Nogueira: Super friendly and helpful staff. We were missing a very specific guitar screw and they helped us out in no time.

Ricky Webster: Amazingly friendly and helpful staff! Middle C is a great place to pick up your general music needs, but maybe isn't the best specifically for guitar equipment. They still have the basics for guitar, and will order anything you need! I have also used their guitar repair/tune-up service and everything was great. Thanks!
Response: Thank you, Ricky! We can't wait to have you back in the store.

Susanna Gregory: I LOVED it here! Stopped by for a new guitar and the staff was immediately willing to help and super friendly. The prices were great and I was really impressed with all the cool little things you could buy too! I didn’t get the names of the people who helped me but they were fantastic
Response: Thank you, Susanna! I'm glad we were able to help you find the right guitar, and we really appreciate your support. See you again! - Nick (and Tom and Dave) :)

Rebecca Brenner: I hadn't sought out new strings for my guitar since 2017. so every ~4yr when I get restrung, I only trust one music shop to touch my green guitar: Middle C Music. they do a fabulous job! I wouldn't recommend waiting 4yr for new strings -- or 10+yr for a new case -- but I highly recommend Middle C Music for all services!
Response: Thanks so much Rebecca! We'll see you in another four years!!

Michelle Long: I had the best time at Middle C Music! Everyone was super knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. I came in looking for a 3/4 size acoustic guitar for traveling and had my pick of a beautiful selection. Big fan!! Will return!
Response: Wooo! Thanks Michelle, hope you enjoy the new guitar!

Lessons In Your Home: what do users think?

Michael: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThis made getting lessons for my 3 kids a snap. I even started taking guitar lessons with them. They found Josh who can teach the kids piano and guitar for myself. Kids are having a blast and I am enjoying picking up the guitar again. Josh is great. Patient with the kids and myself. He is a real pleasure.
Response: Michael, we are so glad your family is enjoying music lessons with Lessons In Your Home! We appreciate you letting us bring music into your home!

Christina Malekiani: We have had a wonderful experience with both of our children and LIYH. We have been clients since before covid and have been impressed with their rapid changes in protocols for covid that were simultaneously so smooth and made for easy transitions for the kids. After also taking a hiatus from one instrument for one child, LIYH was so helpful in transitioning that child back to another instrument and with a different coach that was an even better fit. Heather is extremely professional and proactive and an excellent communicator. She listens well to what each family and child needs and guides appropriately with her recommendations and seems to be spot on. Joseph has been absolutely amazing with our daughter on guitar—one of the most patient, kind teachers we have seen and knows how to keep her motivated and excited. She loves him and can’t wait for lessons each week with him! Nicole has been wonderful on piano with our son and knows how to challenge him appropriately while still keeping him encouraged. We have been extremely pleased with LIYH and will continue to work with them as long as our kids keep enjoying playing an instrument.
Response: Christina, we can't thank you enough for the kind words about Lessons In Your Home! Your feedback is important to us and lets us know we're on the right track! Thank you for letting us be a part of your musical experience!

Tammie Dzubak: My son is a beginner at violin. Joseph has successfully taught him via Zoom (due to the pandemic). Joseph is patient, encouraging, and motivating. He truly understands how to teach children. Most importantly Joseph has instilled confidence in him and he is eager to practice daily. We look forward to a time when Joseph and my son can practice together.
Response: Thank you for your kind words about Joseph, he loves working with your son!

Fallon McNeil: Steve Boone (Richmond VA) is so kind, patient, and fun with our two children (ages 10 and 7). Their excitement and love for music has only increased since starting lessons with him. Heather made the enrollment process effortless and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We have had a WONDERFUL experience with this company. Thank you!
Response: We're so glad you're enjoying the musical experience! Thanks so much for the kind words about Lessons In Your Home and Steve!

David B: We have been so pleased with our instructor, Sean, and by Lessons In Your Home in general. With so few opportunities for safe, in-person instruction over the past year of the pandemic, it's been really nice to provide our daughter with in-home lessons from a talented and supportive piano instructor. Thank you!
Response: David, Thank you so much for the wonderful review about Lessons In Your Home and Sean! He really enjoys lessons with your children each week!

Jonathan Moak: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueLiz has been such a patient and professional piano coach for our daughter. I have really enjoyed watching my 6 year old learn. Highly recommended.
Response: We are so happy to bring music into your home! Thank you for the nice words about Liz, we appreciate it!

Classic Guitar And Bass Studio: what do users think?

Manas Mondal: Leigh is the best teacher I have ever had. I have been taking lessons from Leigh for the past 7 years. I had always been fascinated by the guitar but had no idea of music when I first met Leigh. He listened to me patiently and encouraged me to give it my best. I have not looked back since. He is a great mentor, understands the students strengths/weaknesses and tailors his instructions accordingly. He is very methodical in his approach and that guarantees results. He inspires students to practice more by letting them pick their own songs. As a teacher, Leigh is great with students of all ages, skill level, and cultural backgrounds. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn guitar at any level and from any physical location (I live in PA and attend Zoom lessons every week with Leigh).

R L: I have been a student of Leigh’s since 2018 and have learned so much over the past four years. Leigh is a thoughtful and knowledgable teacher, and truly wants his students to become better musicians, not just better guitar players. I am grateful to have found Classic Guitar and Bass Studio and wish I had started taking lessons sooner! -Robyn

Varun Suryan: I've been studying guitar with Leigh for over two years now and love it.Leigh makes learning super fun while pushing you simultaneously towards growth. I couldn't ask for a better teacher.

Sean Dobson: I have been a student for eight years at the Classical Guitar and Bass Studio, studying classical guitar with Leigh Oben. Leigh is one of the best teachers I have ever had in any subject. He has high standards, but he makes learning the guitar fun. He can play and teach lots of styles of guitar -- classical, rock, jazz, etc. -- and he is great at all of them. I have watched him teach students of different ages and I can tell they all were having a great learning experience. If you want to learn the guitar, study with Leigh! -Sean Dobson Silver Spring, MD

Heinan Landa: My son started taking lessons with Leigh when he was 10 years old after several years of other teachers that got him nowhere. Leigh was able to pick up on his love for the Beatles and encourage his natural love for music and for the guitar. In no time flat, Adam was flying through more and more complex music and absolutely loving it! In the process, Leigh taught him the practical music theory that differentiates a real guitar player. He also helped him arrange a version of "The End" which got Adam selected to be the lead guitarist for a youth Beatles Band in a nationwide competition. And shortly after that, Leigh helped Adam learn some of the most complex fingerpicking I have ever seen (arranged by Tommy Emmanuel.) Adam clearly came to the table with some musical talent -- but it takes the right teacher to nurture that talent and give it voice. Leigh did that for him through some gifted and caring instruction, and Adam's love of music and performing will surely always be part of his life. I've put some links to Adam's music below (proud dad that I am)... and I can't encourage you enough to give Leigh a try if you or your kids are thinking about some professional instruction. -Heinan p.s. turns out that on google reviews, you can't post links -- so you can go to youtube and search for AdamLandaRocks to see what he can do. thanks

Kaylyn Devose: Very unprofessional service conducted. Highly disappointed. I’m a military service member and have never experienced such disrespect the gentlemen on the phone was very opinionated when I told him what I was looking for. He expressed to me how there is a pandemic going on as if I was unaware. What I asked was not out of context because we as a state have now entered phase two of the pandemic where gatherings can take place in small quantity controlled areas. I was talked down too for simply expressing what I was looking for. A yes or No would have been sufficient but instead he gave me his opinion very rudely and hung up in my face. I would not recommend their services. Regardless of what’s going on respect and good customer service is important. As a service member I will make sure all business that is conducted with the other service members around me are taken elsewhere we are not only paying for quantity of learning but the quality respect goes along way!

michael lee: Professional musicians that give balmy and personal interest to each student, very helpful and friendly staff

Chevy Chase Arts Academy: what do users think?

Suz Brown: I have a 6 year old boy who has been taking piano lessons at CCAA for a year now. He loves his lessons and is already sight reading! His teacher, Miss Olivia, is positive, upbeat, and full of laughter. It is clear that Levon, the director, is very much connected in the music community and there are many talented teachers here. Best of all, the environment is warm, and we have been treated like family from day 1, even during the worst of the pandemic.
Response: Thanks so much, Suz! We really appreciate your support.

Jonathan Kula: Nearly my entire family takes lessons at Chevy Chase Arts Academy, and we could not be happier with our experience. Our youngest, 8, has been progressing and enjoying the piano for months now. Her instructor, Manuel De La Luz, is patient and inspiring, and gives perfect feedback. Our other daughter and I take guitar from Arnell Byrd, who is both effortlessly cool and also teaches theory in an accessible way. Levon Mikailean, the founder, has been extremely supportive in making our family musical. The website is easy to navigate, and the zoom lessons are very effective. Still much to learn, but we are playing together and enjoying the practice! No, really, we are! I cannot recommend these folks more highly. They are just the best.
Response: Thanks so much for the positive review, Jon! We love having you guys as a part of our CCAA family! 😊

Aram Stepanyan: My son has been learning piano for almost 5 years now. We used to change teachers a lot because of their availability and we are so glad to finally meet Mr. Levon last year. I have to say Mr. Levon is the best among our experience in the past few years. He is very patient with kids, knows the proper way to teach them. Just not sure what his magic is, but he's the only one get my son practice without complaining every night. Highly recommend Mr. Levon if anyone is interested in taking lessons in piano, guitar, vocal...
Response: Dear Aram, Thanks so much for your positive review!

Pavel Khrimian: This Academy is fantastic! Everything you want to see in art/music academy. Very talented teachers, very friendly, and convenient in terms of availability. Highly recommend piano lessons with Levon, as both my daughters are taking piano lessons with him. Any instrument you can think of they offer lessons, wide range of professional instructors, which is awesome to see in this area. Definitely recommend Chevy Chase Arts Academy Maryland.
Response: We appreciate your positive review, Pavel.

Margarita Saringulyan: My daughter really enjoys her piano classes and is excited not only to go to class but also practice at home. Music is a big part of her life now! We are thankful we found the Academy and highly recommend the piano teacher Levon!!!
Response: Thanks so much for your review, Margarita! Best, CCAA team.

Vaughn Martirosyan: Levon is phenomenal musician and a great teacher. I've never seen my kid being so excited about his art class. He takes individual approach to kids and make them feel like they are playing a game while he downloads his knowledge of music in to the children's minds. Im very pleased with his work and my sons progress!
Response: Thanks so much, Vaughn!

Tatevik Gevorgyan: We decided to join the Chevy Chase Art Academy as our last try before giving up – or at least pausing – on music. After we started our classes with Bienvenido, in only a month I saw how our child (8yo) changed completely. The teachers at the Academy are professionals, very gentle and thoughtful with kids and they make the learning process fun for them. They show individual approach to every student – key to every learning process. After only 5 months of classes, my son plays music all the time, whenever he has a free moment. I don’t need to ever remind him to practice – he enjoys it. I am so glad we gave this school a chance before giving up, because now we are looking forward to our music classes with delight and big hopes.
Response: Dear Tatevik, thanks so much for your kind words. CCAA

Ruth Trombka: As an adult I have attempted to play the piano three time in the past. Levon is the first teacher to make it feel like an achievable goal. His relaxing style, as well as his emphasis on enjoying the process of making music (while also teaching the necessary fundamentals), has helped me feel fearless and completely capable. I imagine he is equally easy-going yet effective with children. He is simply a kind and gentle person who seems to derive sincere pleasure from helping others learn, no matter their level.
Response: Thanks so much for your review, Ruth!

Lauren Theriot: Wonderful music school! Very qualified and dedicated instructors and a wonderful environment to learn!
Response: Thanks so much for your review, Lauren.

Tata M: My daughter loves these classes! I have recommended this school to our school friends as well! The teachers do such a great job of being relatable to the kids, making them want to keep going! Thank you, guys!
Response: Thanks so much, Tata!

International School of Music: what do users think?

Maria Abreu-Blanco: We have attended for a couple of years, on the early childhood program. My son participated in the group classes, he loved his teacher and it was a great experience overall. Now we hove move to private lessons, piano, the instructor is great and my kid enjoys the lessons.

Audrey Shi: ISM is great! It's well-organized, and I really enjoyed my voice lessons with Dara, who was lovely and knowledgeable. I'll be back once I have more time and means for lessons. The location is very convenient, and I had a terrific experience!

Brad Dengler: Great Place to teach kids music. Accommodating scheduling and very patient teachers that get my children excited about learning music and looking forward to their next lesson.

soomin lee: Staffs are great!! My kids love their flute teacher.

Allyson Leung: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityMy daughter has been taking violin lessons for 9 months. We are very pleased with her progress. Miss Dana is very patient with my 6 years old daughter and very knowledgeable as well.

Vishal Sinha: Our kids go to International School of Music for their weekly music sessions. They are just starting out on their musical journey and this can be a challenge for both the kids, and the teachers. We really appreciate the patience of the instructor - she is really doing a good job introducing our kids to music and is patient with them. The front desk staff is very friendly too and helps us quite a bit to set the weekly schedule. The new location is perfect for us and the facilities are really nice!

Elizabeth Clifton: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueISM has great, timely communication, especially during these days of requiring on-the-spot technical coordination and they have been excellent about providing extra time when technical struggles prevent on-time starts. About two months in and very happy with the lessons my child is receiving.

Raquel B. Saltsman: We love ISM and our ukulele teacher!

Manoela Borges: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueWe love ISM. Our eight-year old has taken violin lessons for almost two years and has progressed beautifully. The instructor is supportive and engaging, and the ISM staff are helpful and friendly. We enjoy the flexibility of ISM along with the instructor and staff’s professional approach to teaching.

Kelly McCarthy: Just took our first piano lesson with Becky and are so excited to be working with her! Professional staff and great atmosphere for learning.

Lets Play Music: what do users think?

Anne Akers-Smith: Two of my sons and I have taken lessons at Let's Play Music since it opened. We have all had excellent experiences. We all take different instruments and have worked with all of the instructors. They are all awesome. They provide excellent music education in a friendly environment. I would highly recommend taking lessons here.

Nishant Sahay: Its a great place to learn music with great music teachers. I have been coming to this place since more than 3 years for my daughter and have been very happy with her progress. The lessons are good and guidance is provided and then it's upto the student to practice. The teachers are super nice and highly skilled. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

david hemmings: I took drum lessons here several years ago with George, who is an excellent instructor . Our lessons focused on rudiments, the importance of motion and the follow-through of each stroke (control) and keeping perfect time. I mostly worked on snare, but also on drum set and tuned percussion (xylophone). The facilities are comfortable and clean - the percussion room sits at the end of the store, all to itself, complete with drum set, xylophone, congas, and timpani. I like the store and the location, which is right off route 7 and is very convenient to both my home and my work. The folks who run the store are also very polite and professional - they were easy to work with. I took lessons for about six months until my work schedule kicked in and I had to let the lessons go, but I learned a lot in that period of time. I would highly recommend Let's Play to others.

International School of Music: what do users think?

Joma A Washirapunya: International School of Music is a great school for any type of music class. My daughter has been doing a virtual class for a year now. Despite it’s still being online, she still learns a lot. Her piano teacher (Junie K.) is very knowledgeable and helps her with the fundamentals and makes sure she understands everything about playing the piano. The staff is helpful and quick to respond to all my questions. I am happy that we enrolled her at ISM.

Chong Zhang: We had a very good experience with ISM for my daughter’s violin class. Her teacher Kimia is amazing!

Linda Shiner: Young is an accomplished guitarist who is very patient and helpful with beginners. He shows you precisely how to move your fingers to get the best benefit from practice.

Carmen Bellacasa: My daughter loves meeting with her instructor weekly. I highly recommend.

Ryan John Estorninos: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueThe International School of Music has been the perfect place for my daughter to harness her natural talent. School of Rock: what do users think?

Katie White: School of Rock has been a transformative experience for our son. The week of camp last summer instilled a confidence in him that has been further nurtured by Rock 101 and weekly drum lessons. Rose, Brooks, Dylan, and the whole team help to create a wonderful environment where kids feel comfortable and their passion for music thrives. Thank you.
Response: Katie - thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We love having you all as part of our community. Rock on!

Carrie Hutchison: SOR has been a wonderful community for my young rocker! I'm constantly impressed by their performances, and their support of each other.
Response: Thank you Carrie! We love having you all as part of our SOR fam!

Karen Lopez: The staff here are lovely. They were very friendly, encouraging and kind. My niece absolutely loved her time here. Watching her get excited about music was amazing. Though she is currently not taking classes anymore, I hope she’ll be able to in the future because watching her here was magic!
Response: Thank you so much Karen!

Carissa Marino: My son has had a wonderful experience playing the electric guitar at camps and in private lessons @ SoR Silver Spring. The instructors work to create a positive, collaborative and encouraging environment for the kids. The kids have the opportunity to perform together at public venues and it's always so inspiring to watch them.
Response: Carissa this is so wonderful to hear! We love what we do and appreciate your kind words.

Phil Corriveau: Signing my son up for the School of Rock Silver Spring when he was 10 has been one of the best moves we have made. I think what makes the School of Rock program so attractive to many students and parents is that it is performance-based. In addition to regular lessons, students have wonderful opportunities to rehearse as a band and play shows at public venues. This way, they not only learn how to play an instrument, but how to PERFORM. And they have fun doing it. I also like the fact that no matter your child's level of experience when starting out at the School of Rock, there is a learning track to give them what they need to succeed at their instrument of choice. From the Rock 101 program to the Performance Program to the advanced House Band program, the instructors and director offer up a diverse music catalog to push students' skills to the next level. Most importantly, the staff is what makes the School of Rock Silver Spring so good. I can honestly say that all of the staff are passionate and care about what they do, and want to get the most out of the students in a positive, encouraging manner. As a parent, I have had the privilege of seeing the results...how many students have rapidly evolved from under-confident musicians to poised and skilled performers who take command of the stage. It's been nearly three years since my son started at the School of Rock Silver Spring and he has never looked back!

Elda Cordone: If you have seen the movie School of Rock with Jack Black, then you know how cool it is for kids to study rock music. This school has been a great investment for my sons in their development, both musically and socially. They have learned so much and have so much fun. They have gained new found discipline through practice, confidence as well as new friends that will last a lifetime. Studies have shown that music education directly correlates with academic success.Since joining in the last two years, my sons (ages 10 and 17) have performed at The Fillmore, at the Fountain in Silver Spring, and many other venues. School of Rock is their second home. Everyone, from the owners to the school director, music teachers, and staff is awesome!
Response: Thank you Elda!

Eric Mendelsohn: The easy going, rock n roll attitude is fun and welcoming. The classes for kids seem great. Though I haven’t been able to get my kids interested, I know of families with several musicians enrolled which I’m sure reinforces the learning and enthusiasm — and demonstrates the lure of SoR.

Sharon Sellers: Who doesn't want to be in a rock band?? It is a great program for kids, teaching not only music but confidence. The directors are always awesome - enthusiastic, professional and talented. I've had two kids do SOR and highly praise the school.
Response: Thank you for this lovely review! We have loved having your girls in our program and are so glad we have been a part of their growing up years.

Heather Shelton: I feel very lucky that my son is a part of the School of Rock Silver Spring program. My son is 10 years old, and he is rock drumming on stages in front of audiences (wow!). Have you checked out the YouTube videos? My son started drumming lessons at 7 and joined SOR at 8. The environment is very authentic and nurturing for young rock music-oriented kids. In the beginning, I had to encourage him to practice. And now, he sits down at his drum kit twice a day to practice, on his own initiative. He's learning so much more than I can probably even imagine. Plus, there's the #cool factor. If you're considering this program, I highly encourage you to come into the studio on Colesville to meet the managers and instructors. Tell them Heather referred you, and maybe I'll get a free t-shirt!?!
Response: Hey Heather, Thanks so much for the kind review!

Nicholas Michalopoulos: Great school with tons of opportunities for kids to get better at music in so many different ways.
Response: Thank you so much for this amazing review! We love having you all in our school and watching A grow so much over the years.

School of Rock: what do users think?

A.J. Nowaczyk: My son did a week long camp over the summer. He was seven, and really enjoyed it. They did a concert at Jammin’ Java that was really fun, and impressive at the end. They did Burning Down The House, Electric Funeral, and It’s A Long Way To The Top. It was great seeing him sing, drum, and play guitar. So crazy they put it all together in a week. I’d recommend it at least once, though he’ll probably do it again.
Response: A.J. this means the world to us! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and we hope to see him next summer or in one of our year-around programs. D rocks!

John Yiasemides: Individualized instruction as well as group playing opportunities makes this a terrific program for any child who wants to become a performer, or just a better musician. Small-group settings allows for a band-experience without the individuals getting lost in a big-school program, which gives them more opportunity to grow and express themselves. This program puts it all together: lessons lead to group-playing which leads to performances. Safe, fun environment is created for students of music. Administration here is always more organized than I am, which I am thankful for!
Response: John we so appreciate your taking the time to post this wonderful review! We love what we do and thank you for putting your trust in us.

K Cheng: School of Rock in Vienna is terrific. My child loves doing both the weekly classes as well as the camps. Staff is super supportive and teachers are excellent in their skill and also with their children. Highly recommend!
Response: Thank you so much! We are delighted you are having a great School of Rock experience.

Elizabeth B: So organized! Brian is incredible. Also instructors seem well-vetted, I have sense that they take care with choosing teachers, they pay close attn to safety (and not just in terms of COVID -- also things like not emailing kids directly, Facebook link is through parents, etc.). I love how they give kids leadership opportunities (e.g. interning in the summer). And they give kids choice (e.g. in song selection, instruments). We have rarely had to change a lesson time, but when we have, they are SO helpful. Honestly, can't say enough good about SoR Vienna!!!

Michael Fazen: This is a wonderful program for children to not only learn awesome music skills but also many life lessons. The group rehearsals and seasonal live performances teach our son the commitment of being part of a team. He has been with School of Rock for almost 3 years, and we enjoy seeing him grow not only as a musician but also as a person. Even during the challenging pandemic times, School of Rock did a great job adjusting to the situation to continue the program without any interruptions. We love this program and will continue it for many years.
Response: Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your thoughts and experience. It's been a pleasure having Michael in our program and watching him grow!

Amy Wenger: Couldn’t be more impressed with how much my 7 year old has learned in a year at School of Rock. He LOVES going, the teachers and staff are wonderful, and his guitar playing... so much more than I would have expected at this age! They are also doing a top notch job with safety precautions during the pandemic. So glad to be a part of S of R Vienna:)
Response: Amy thank you so much for this lovely review - we appreciate it so much!

Ginger Hierl: Gives kids experience playing with a band in a fun atmosphere. All of the directors and instructors are awesome! My daughter's guitar playing, singing, and confidence on stage have all developed impressively at the School of Rock and she has lots of fun there.
Response: Ginger thank you so much for taking the time to write this - we appreciate it!

Rachna Heizer: This place is AMAZING! The teachers are great - you can tell they truly love music and sharing their love of music to other kids. My son has had several teachers there (he plays three instruments and sings) and every single one is great. They are super patient with kids and great at working with a variety of kids and personalities and really getting the best out of each kid. This place is like a second home to my son and they have gone above and beyond to make him comfortable and successful. On top of that, they are great music teachers that not only teach the kids how to play music but how to be in a band together. It is one of the few programs that works hard to give kids many performance opportunities; recognizing that kids are more likely to learn and stay motivated if they get a chance to perform. My son has done the performance band program and the house band program and loves going to rehearsals, rocking out with his buddies and loves loves loves the performances. It has done a ton for his musical ability AND his confidence. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! The owners are great; really get the kids and are willing to work with everyone. The staff is open and accommodating and you can tell they love what they do. My son is not an athlete but he is a musician and it is great to find a place he truly gets to be a musician and perform just like his soccer playing friends get to have their moment to shine. My children have participated in numerous after school activities and this is by far one of the best things they have done. Teaches teamwork, self confidence, and music!
Response: Thank you Rachna for all your support!

MacGregor Nicholson: My son has participated in the performance program for six years. He has had a wonderful experience and has grown in confidence, musicianship and discipline. It's also FUN and he has made many great friends there. The instructors and owners really care about the students and obviously love what they are doing. There is great interaction between more experienced and novice students. As a parent, it has been rewarding to see my son, and his many bandmates, blossom from shy kids to rockers. Do it!

Leslie Borkenhagen: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueThe staff are amazing with kids - super kind, flexible, and skilled in both music and teaching kids of various abilities and experience levels. We love the community that SOR has created and our son enjoys going and learning with his new group of friends!
Response: Wow thank you Leslie! We appreciate your support and kind words. Rock on!

Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center: what do users think?

Carlton Jones: Chuck Levins Washington Music Center, has been the most anticipated retail store visit since I was 13 years old. Every local musician I know in DC has spent time and money at Chuck’s. I recently made a purchase and it went as all my transactions made there since approx 1970. This time it was online but a very personal affair, Adam Levin was helpful and more accommodating that an old guy could ask for. It was still like xmas awaiting my package that came overnight and with a wonderful gift. I can honestly say it was the most emotional purchase I’ve made in decades, not the most expensive, not a life changing acquisition just a memory evoking moment that included family members and friends passed on that I think of frequently whom I spent many hours playing music with and having the best times of my life. Me, my family, friends and Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center…. Thanks again Adam, if this is my last purchase please know they have all been the best!

Crystallize And Realize: This place goes above and beyond I'm all categories. Total knowledge, stock, and personal care. You will find your salesman, and he will be yours for decades. Paul in drums is incredible. Also Edwin in Keys, and Mitch up front. Top notch. I feel good arriving, better leaving. Best store in the world. I suggest cutting your credit cards before entering---can be dangerous.

Rachel Ellis: Bought my fiancé a guitar here a year ago. Sales person was friendly and helpful. Good covid protocol for the time. Sales people weren’t pushy and were well informed on guitars. Bought the Taylor GS Mini and it’s been a great guitar. Would definitely check them out if you’re in the market for an instrument. Only downside was slightly outdated equipment/billing systems, but nothing a little patience doesn’t fix.

Richard Capeless: My experience was through an online order and I am here to testify to their exceptional customer service. I had a small problem with a piece of gear I was really excited to get, and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate me. General manager Adam Levin reach out to me and oversaw my exchange. That kind of personal touch made it clear that they care about their customers.

Melissa Ratisher: I had tried many different retailers looking for an XDJ RX3, but nobody had them in stock, and people were selling them on EBay for $1k over the retail price. I saw one at Chuck Levin's that was 'open box' so called the store about it, then spoke to Randy who told me they had a brand-new one, unopened, in the store, at the standard retail price. I ordered it immediately (free shipping!), got it in 2 days, still sealed in the box, perfect condition, and it's fantastic! Highly recommend ordering gear from Chuck Levin's. Thank you Randy!

Bryce Wagner: I worked personally with Pete Fleming to order my new bass amp. I saw a post on Reverb for an amp I had been looking for and Pete was very helpful. I’d also like to mention that he made me feel safe making such an expensive purchase over the phone for it to be shipped to my home town. Pete even went back to the warehouse to grab the amp because we both couldn’t believe they actually had one in stock. As soon as I paid, it was removed from reverb and he’s sent me receipts very swiftly to assure it was mine! I would highly recommend this store. If I had one complaint, it’s that it isn’t in my hometown. Haha
Response: So glad we could make this happen Bryce!! Going out the door today. Rock on 🤘🤘

Gary Rosen: Ordered on-line and called when I got there. Brought my purchase right to my car. Shop local! Spent a bunch of time there today with Pete who was super helpful in helping me decide what guitar to consider
Response: Thanks for using our curbside service, Gary! We appreciate you shopping with us.

dylanvs: I ordered a yamaha dtx8k mesh electric kit online. This kit was impossible to find anywhere else backordered on every other music site i went to so i was already happy i found it here. They got it to me quick using a freight company called distribution by air, i think it took just about a week which is good considering it was an entire pallet of boxes. The customer service from both the freight company and chuck levins was great, both companies reached out concerning my delivery making sure i could be there to sign and to let them know id got my shipment. Also the shop pay option for 4 installments is a huge plus! Couldnt ask for more

brian henson: Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center has always been the best music store in this region. Guitar players, including the top players in the world, come here for equipment, repairs, and advice. Best selection and fair prices, but most of all, the most knowledgeable sales people. They know the products, ask you the right questions, and help you find the best solutions for you.
Response: Thanks for the nice review, Brian. The customer ALWAYS comes first at Chuck's!

Mitzo: The staff are amazing, a huge variety of musical equipment, and I managed to get rototoms at over a 90% discount! If you’re in the area I 100% recommend stopping here

Foxes Music Co.: what do users think?

Freddie Dunn: First rate old-school music store. Foxes has all of your music and music education needs, equipment, accessories, method books, and scores. I'm glad a store like this exists nearby. They have a tremendous inventory of folios, scores, books and sheet music for anyone from beginner to seasoned pro. They rent instruments at reasonable rates. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Stores like this are a treasure!

Vassilios Vassiliadis-Laouto Lobby: Fantastic local music store. Customer service is awesome and the manager Dave Belazis always goes above and beyond to help you get the best deal. They also offer musical classes and sell any type of musical instrument, accessories and equipment. I rather support this nice store than other online or other real music shops.

Dale Dean: Extremely professional service allowed me to find the right edition of sheet music that I wanted. And we conferred back and forth by text messages before I even entered the store to pick up the edition. Outstanding and responsive treatment.

Heather Paul: Went looking for a guitar for my bf's birthday; I know nothing about music or guitar shopping, but they helped me pick one out, talked me through pros and cons of each, played samples for me to hear the sound, even tossed in a free pack of strings! And my bf loved the guitar <3 Highly highly HIGHLY recommend

T King: Very cool old school music shop, lotta different instruments, sheet music etc. Not sure how competitive prices on guitar amps are. Fun to browse. Looks like the do lessons and repairs, too.

Eric Henri: Great for lessons, service and equipment. They can order what they don't have in stock. Also love to look at the music books!

Billy Billy: Why you got to be so weird with your comments every time I come in the store with my children. I get that your band geeks or something, but don’t be so creepy and learn how to interact with humans. @Bernard and others need to stop with weird offhand remarks to customers and children in the store. No one needs it and we will take personal insult next time.

Spot Wms: Foxes Music Co has one of the largest selection of music books for all instruments and ALL learning levels. Nice novelty items (socks, tote bags, mouse pads and etc). Music books are competitively priced. Foxes Music Co offers other services as well (lessons, instruments rental/sales). I'm a beginning adult piano player (learned to read music in high school band class). The Essential Elements Piano Theory seems to be the perfect purchase for my current knowledge and playing ability. A family member is learning music also, so I'll be able to pass the music books along! I purchased a lot of music books because I'm trying to discover what works best for my independent learning (supllemented w/ YOUTUBE videos).

aria moshrefi: Came in just to exchange the rental violin for my son. Brian A was so helpful. He showed us the problem was was not the size of the violin but the locations of the tape was not correct. Excellent free assistance by such a nice employee Thank you you so much !

Christine Hill: I went to Foxes music just to come see and admire the store cause of all the instruments. It was my first time going there and usually i’m a anxious mess kind of a person. I was immediately greated by good ol Dave! (Welcoming and friendly) He showed me some books, amps, intruments, etc. demoed some pedals. Not once was there a pressure to buy or anything which was super nice! No sales pitch and I thoroughly appreciated that. I saw this mustang and he showed it to me and all was history! I walked out with a slammin deal and stand in top of that! Thanks so much Dave! Will definitely be coming back!
Response: Thanks for the review! We value your opinion and look forward to working with you again. See you soon!

Action Music Ltd: what do users think?

TJ Sanner: I love guitars. I love visiting awesome shops that have amazing inventory and amazing staff that are excited to be in that environment. Action did not disappoint today. Hands down the best inventory of Huss & Dalton, Collings, and vintage Martin. They even spur of the moment fit me in and made a quick truss rod adjustment while I waited. Totally unbelievable. I am a small business owner myself and only hope these guys know how awesome they are! Thanks for an amazing visit, truly a 6star experience! We traveled from Annapolis just to see their shop and will be back 100%.
Response: Thank You TJ It was really nice to meet You! Thank You for Your kind review. Matt

Everett DeLuca: This is an incredibly wonderful place. Incredibly reasonable pricing on repairs, done with impeccable quality. The gentlemen who run the shop are a riot and you'll leave with an excellent lesson in guitar maintenance. Also a wild collection of vintage amps and pedals. This is heaven for any guitarist.
Response: Thank You for the kind review Everett!

Matt Lyttle: The greatest guitar shop around, no question. Incredible selection of new and vintage instruments. All sorts of pedals and gear. Extremely knowledgeable staff. And they are as welcoming as can be. Just be respectful of their stuff and they will treat you like family - no matter how deep (or empty) your pockets are!
Response: Thank You Matt!

Elisa: Great store! The staff are so friendly, kind, and willing to share advice. I always have a pleasant experience taking my guitars in for work or browsing for new gear.
Response: Thank You for the kind words Elisa!

Matthew Morgan: This place is the best guitar shop in the DMV and it’s not even close. The guys know their stuff and they care about what they do. I came in with a California strat a few months ago and the owner took time to walk me through the history of the guitar, the value, and helped me weigh pros and cons of investing in some repairs. They’ve set up 4 of my guitars and have done A+ work on each one. Love these guys!
Response: Wow Thank You Matthew-we appreciate Your kind review.

Cameron Quinn: Music shops like this are a dying bread and thankfully we still have killer shops like Action. Super knowledgeable about all things music and guitars. Best and most eclectic selection of vintage guitars in the area. Thanks Action!
Response: Thank You Cameron!

Harrison Z: I found a guitar on their website listed as in stock, called to buy it and they explained their website is out of date by about 5 years. Ok. They mentioned they have a Mustang Bass for sale though so I was interested. Rob told me he had to check with his boss on how to do the sale but the best way would be to mail a check. I accepted the terms and asked to please place a hold tag. They said they could put the tag on for me. I called them the next day to ask for the pictures they promised me, they were “slammed; call back later no time to put a hold tag on”. I called back later. “The shop is closing now but we can make a reverb listing for you tomorrow and you’ll just buy it first as it goes up.” I told them, Saturday on reverb, it’s very possible someone will buy it in those seconds before me. They said it’s never happened and won’t be a problem. I call back the next day to remind them of the deal, they said call a little later. I did. They say 3,2,1 the listing is up, Reverb wanted my CVV code (which doesn’t usually happen) which I scrambled to get, then someone else bought the bass in those seconds. Apparently the other buyer is a returning customer so they sold the bass to him. After all the calls I made and the changing of terms I accepted, they simply sold it out from under me. This is the number one worst experience I’ve had buying a guitar. They cant accept a credit card over the phone? The reverb listing wouldn’t have even been created if it weren’t for me and they sell it to this other guy who is apparently on the way to pick it up 30 seconds after purchasing? Come on. Who do you think would have been inconvenienced more; him or me? After all the phone calls I made and patience I had after reminding them several times about the sale, obviously me!! they didn’t seem to mind at all selling it out from under me. Almost proud of their decision. A simple explanation to the other buyer and I’m sure everyone would understand that the bass should have been sold to me. And a bonus complaint, I asked them at the end of the call if they have anymore vintage fenders in stock and they told me I was already told what they have in stock the day before. As if somehow I was inconveniencing them! Absolutely unbelievable and extremely unprofessional. “We’ve been doing the same thing for 25 years buddy “. Is what I heard many times. What??? Reverbs been around for about 6 years. And you’d think they’d know how to honor a deal after all their years as a shop! Extremely disappointed and so much of my time and energy wasted for nothing.
Response: The item was listed on Reverb specifically for You and we notified You and were on the phone with You as we went live with the listing so You could grab it. We specifically asked You, if You were ready to proceed, after you said Yes we listed, But then You continued to haggle and were told that the item was in two other peoples carts. Then someone bought it out from under you. I'm sorry but we tried very hard to work with You, and patiently explained our policies multiple times. We tried, sometimes things just don't work out. Thank You Matt

Christopher Frakes: Great selection of instruments, equipment, and accessories. Matt and co. are knowledgeable, kind, and a delight to chat with. Hands down the best music store in the area!
Response: Thank You Chris!

muscle man: action music is a really good store. the people that work there are all super nice and welcoming. i gotta come back here one day. also the location is very nice considering its right next to a record store and a recording studio
Response: Thank You!

Shawn Hatfield: Always a good time. Thank you guys for the Orange cab this time. I usually get vintage fuzz pedals here. Great selection of instruments, amps, fx, and other music goodies!

Vic D'Amato: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueMy son has been School of Rock student for several years and it has been an amazing experience. His instructors and music directors have been awesome, and the Ashburn team is outstanding. His understanding of and love for music has grown over the years, and his confidence has grown incredibly. Great learning experience, great team!
Response: Vic - thank you for taking the time to post this awesome review! We are so grateful to have the D'Amato fam in our School of Rock fam.

Ariana Gillette: We are School of Rock lifers! The last 6+ years have been really great. Yes there are ups and downs and changes but SOR is continually striving to be better. My son has grown as a musician and has expanded his love of other string instruments. His love of music is a gift he will take with him through life. The folks at Ashburn SOR are the reason we stick around, very flexible and truly love the kids. I highly recommend this location.
Response: Ariana! Thank you for such a heartfelt review! We so appreciate it.

SS M: This is the best place to get your kid started with any kind of music. Best people in terms of attitude, skillset, punctuality, professionalism etc etc
Response: Cannot thank you enough for sharing this wonderful feedback! And thanks for being part of our community.

Mary Bishop: Both my kids go to Ashburn School of Rock. My daughter is a vocalist and has been involved in the show program and the younger house bands for four years. We love it. She has progressed so far with the help of the wonderful staff at School of Rock. My son started playing drums there about a year ago in the Rock 101 class for younger kids. He absolutely loves his teacher Bill - going to his lesson is his favorite activity of the week ! He just debuted on stage in one song last weekend and is excited to be joining the show program next season! Couldn’t be happier to give this school a five star review!
Response: Wow - thank you so much Mary! We love you guys and are thankful you are part of our School of Rock family.

Susan Zura: My kids have been taking lessons and playing in bands as part of the performance program at School of Rock Ashburn for 6 years. They love it!! My kids that want to learn musical theory to advance their playing have found supportive teachers, and my kids that play be ear are equally supported. They have loved the different performance options and venues and have played in some pretty cool places. Playing in a band at School of Rock has also helped their public speaking skills, gain stage presence, and renew their commitment to academics. My kids will say being with School of Rock is one of the best decisions they've made!

Jill: My son has been with SOR doing private guitar/drum lessons and Group101. He has also been involved in the the last two summer camps. He absolutely loves it and loves the fact that he's learning to form chords already and getting to play songs he knows in a group setting. Everyone, including the instructors, are incredibly supportive and extremely talented. I Highly recommend the programs here for the young and older. It’s not just for kids!
Response: Thank you Jill - your support means the world!

Nisha Kaushik: I scheduled initial call with the store manager about my 6 year old kid’s guitar lessons but never received a call so I emailed her about it and she apologized and rescheduled for the following day but she again didn’t call. I called her and left a voicemail and still haven’t received any communication from them. If the store manager doesn’t care to respond to the customers that says a lot about the school.
Response: Hello Nisha, I cannot apologize enough for causing you frustration. Like many small businesses right now we are understaffed and having difficulty finding people to fill positions and it seems you were caught in our overwhelm. Wednesday was the day of tornado watches and bad weather and we were busy rescheduling students and staff to ensure a safe day. We absolutely do care to respond and I will personally reach out to see if I can answer your questions. Thank you so much for your feedback.

Patty Gray: My kids have been going to School of Rock in Ashburn for four years, and they absolutely love it!! They took guitar at another local music store in Ashburn for a year before we switched, and I cannot stress how much they have improved since they started going to School of Rock. Because it's a performance-based program, they learn so many different aspects of playing an instrument. They don't just learn to play, they learn to perform. They also have the opportunity to try other instruments, including vocals. We love to watch the shows they put on after each season. No boring recitals for us, we go to shows like Rage Against the Machine, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osbourne, and Green Day. The teachers are all very talented, cool, and really enjoy being around the kids. My kids love being around other like-minded kids, and have made so many great new friends there.
Response: Thank you, Patty. The Grays have added to our program so much, and we are happy to have you all around!

Rachel Rothstein: My daughter has been taking lessons at the Ashburn School of Rock for 3 years. She LOVES it. The teachers are excellent and the students are friendly and help each other. Playing in a performance format has helped her develop her skills quickly! Its awesome to see these kids on stage. They Rock!

Daichi Monma: It's the best, I started as a beginner, but now I'm playing real gigs at great venues. Music lessons, performing shows, and practicing with others at School of Rock has helped me improve at playing guitar while having fun and rewarding experiences. I enjoy everything about School of Rock from the people to all the opportunities to learn that I've gotten.
Response: Thanks, Daichi! Love having you at our school!

School of Rock: what do users think?

Laura Spriggs Gray: We started drum lessons for my daughter two months ago and she is loving it. She even enjoys practicing which is very different from previous music lessons. The instructors make it fun to learn and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend giving them a try if your children are interested in music.

Haleema A: Had my trial lesson with Max! He's casual but professional and I felt safe/comfortable during the lesson. All other staff I met were great as well.

Cary And Ian Phillips: We love the atmosphere and experience that Haymarket School of Rock provides. We have nothing but great things to say about the past 3 years. We look forward to many more!

Michael Hogan: Checked the place out and it looked interesting so I signed up my son for a drum lesson tryout. Went well, the instructor even said he was talented. I wanted to sign up for the program. Got a phone call the next day and was basically told “we have enough drummers” so thanks but no thanks. It would have been nice to know that they had plenty of drummers before we spent the time getting my son evaluated and worse, getting his hopes up. Not cool.
Response: Hello Michael, We apologize about the inconvenience with regard to our performance classes being full, it was never our intention to mislead you! We hope you understand that we’ve had to greatly downsize our class sizes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To follow our states regulations, we are unable to hold the standard amount of students we’d normally like too. Of course your son is always welcome to join for individual lessons and as soon as there an opening we would get him in! Thank you for your input and critique!

Andrea Hiltner: My kids have been coming to School of Rock since they opened in Haymarket and have loved every moment. The staff is wonderful and my children went from never having picked up an instrument to playing in the Rock 101 band in just a few months. If your child has any interest in music The School of Rock in Haymarket is the place to be.
Response: Thank you for the review! We are lucky to have you children as a part of the school!

LMS D: Awesome program. Their instructors are top-notch and the group lessons help the kids make an amazing amount of progress in such a short period of time because of the program. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for an awesome program for kids who want to learn an instrument :)
Response: Thanks for the review Lisa, it is a pleasure to have your kids at the school! They ROCK!

Jason Dunick: Positive: Quality
