James Hurwitz: Without reservation, Middle C Music deserves the highest possible recommendation. They did a superb job of cleaning up and giving an overall tune-up to my antique guitar and repairing my antique mandolin. In the process, I saw how the staff at Middle C —Nick, Tom, Dave and Hillary — interacted not just with me but customers and students of all ages and abilities. What I appreciated most was their low key manner and the pleasure they took in enhancing the joy that others got from their instruments, music, and lessons. This is truly an excellent music store.

They found Josh who can teach the kids piano and guitar for myself. Kids are having a blast and I am enjoying picking up the guitar again. Josh is great. Patient with the kids and myself. He is a real pleasure.
Christina Malekiani: We have had a wonderful experience with both of our children and LIYH. We have been clients since before covid and have been impressed with their rapid changes in protocols for covid that were simultaneously so smooth and made for easy transitions for the kids. After also taking a hiatus from one instrument for one child, LIYH was so helpful in transitioning that child back to another instrument and with a different coach that was an even better fit. Heather is extremely professional and proactive and an excellent communicator. She listens well to what each family and child needs and guides appropriately with her recommendations and seems to be spot on. Joseph has been absolutely amazing with our daughter on guitar—one of the most patient, kind teachers we have seen and knows how to keep her motivated and excited. She loves him and can’t wait for lessons each week with him! Nicole has been wonderful on piano with our son and knows how to challenge him appropriately while still keeping him encouraged. We have been extremely pleased with LIYH and will continue to work with them as long as our kids keep enjoying playing an instrument.

Manas Mondal: Leigh is the best teacher I have ever had. I have been taking lessons from Leigh for the past 7 years. I had always been fascinated by the guitar but had no idea of music when I first met Leigh. He listened to me patiently and encouraged me to give it my best. I have not looked back since. He is a great mentor, understands the students strengths/weaknesses and tailors his instructions accordingly. He is very methodical in his approach and that guarantees results. He inspires students to practice more by letting them pick their own songs. As a teacher, Leigh is great with students of all ages, skill level, and cultural backgrounds. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn guitar at any level and from any physical location (I live in PA and attend Zoom lessons every week with Leigh).

Suz Brown: I have a 6 year old boy who has been taking piano lessons at CCAA for a year now. He loves his lessons and is already sight reading! His teacher, Miss Olivia, is positive, upbeat, and full of laughter. It is clear that Levon, the director, is very much connected in the music community and there are many talented teachers here. Best of all, the environment is warm, and we have been treated like family from day 1, even during the worst of the pandemic.
Jonathan Kula: Nearly my entire family takes lessons at Chevy Chase Arts Academy, and we could not be happier with our experience. Our youngest, 8, has been progressing and enjoying the piano for months now. Her instructor, Manuel De La Luz, is patient and inspiring, and gives perfect feedback. Our other daughter and I take guitar from Arnell Byrd, who is both effortlessly cool and also teaches theory in an accessible way. Levon Mikailean, the founder, has been extremely supportive in making our family musical. The website is easy to navigate, and the zoom lessons are very effective. Still much to learn, but we are playing together and enjoying the practice! No, really, we are! I cannot recommend these folks more highly. They are just the best.

Tatevik Gevorgyan: We decided to join the Chevy Chase Art Academy as our last try before giving up – or at least pausing – on music. After we started our classes with Bienvenido, in only a month I saw how our child (8yo) changed completely. The teachers at the Academy are professionals, very gentle and thoughtful with kids and they make the learning process fun for them. They show individual approach to every student – key to every learning process. After only 5 months of classes, my son plays music all the time, whenever he has a free moment. I don’t need to ever remind him to practice – he enjoys it. I am so glad we gave this school a chance before giving up, because now we are looking forward to our music classes with delight and big hopes.
Ruth Trombka: As an adult I have attempted to play the piano three time in the past. Levon is the first teacher to make it feel like an achievable goal. His relaxing style, as well as his emphasis on enjoying the process of making music (while also teaching the necessary fundamentals), has helped me feel fearless and completely capable. I imagine he is equally easy-going yet effective with children. He is simply a kind and gentle person who seems to derive sincere pleasure from helping others learn, no matter their level.

Joma A Washirapunya: International School of Music is a great school for any type of music class. My daughter has been doing a virtual class for a year now. Despite it’s still being online, she still learns a lot. Her piano teacher (Junie K.) is very knowledgeable and helps her with the fundamentals and makes sure she understands everything about playing the piano. The staff is helpful and quick to respond to all my questions. I am happy that we enrolled her at ISM.

This school has been a great investment for my sons in their development, both musically and socially. They have learned so much and have so much fun. Studies have shown that music education directly correlates with academic success.Since joining in the last two years, my sons (ages 10 and 17) have performed at The Fillmore, at the Fountain in Silver Spring, and many other venues. A.J. Nowaczyk: My son did a week long camp over the summer. He was seven, and really enjoyed it. They did a concert at Jammin’ Java that was really fun, and impressive at the end. They did Burning Down The House, Electric Funeral, and It’s A Long Way To The Top. It was great seeing him sing, drum, and play guitar. So crazy they put it all together in a week. I’d recommend it at least once, though he’ll probably do it again.
John Yiasemides: Individualized instruction as well as group playing opportunities makes this a terrific program for any child who wants to become a performer, or just a better musician. Small-group settings allows for a band-experience without the individuals getting lost in a big-school program, which gives them more opportunity to grow and express themselves. This program puts it all together: lessons lead to group-playing which leads to performances. Safe, fun environment is created for students of music. Administration here is always more organized than I am, which I am thankful for!
K Cheng: School of Rock in Vienna is terrific. My child loves doing both the weekly classes as well as the camps. Staff is super supportive and teachers are excellent in their skill and also with their children. Highly recommend!
Michael Fazen: This is a wonderful program for children to not only learn awesome music skills but also many life lessons. The group rehearsals and seasonal live performances teach our son the commitment of being part of a team. He has been with School of Rock for almost 3 years, and we enjoy seeing him grow not only as a musician but also as a person. Even during the challenging pandemic times, School of Rock did a great job adjusting to the situation to continue the program without any interruptions. We love this program and will continue it for many years.

He LOVES going, the teachers and staff are wonderful, and his guitar playing... so much more than I would have expected at this age! Rachna Heizer: This place is AMAZING! The teachers are great - you can tell they truly love music and sharing their love of music to other kids. My son has had several teachers there (he plays three instruments and sings) and every single one is great. They are super patient with kids and great at working with a variety of kids and personalities and really getting the best out of each kid. This place is like a second home to my son and they have gone above and beyond to make him comfortable and successful. On top of that, they are great music teachers that not only teach the kids how to play music but how to be in a band together. It is one of the few programs that works hard to give kids many performance opportunities; recognizing that kids are more likely to learn and stay motivated if they get a chance to perform. My son has done the performance band program and the house band program and loves going to rehearsals, rocking out with his buddies and loves loves loves the performances. It has done a ton for his musical ability AND his confidence. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! The owners are great; really get the kids and are willing to work with everyone. The staff is open and accommodating and you can tell they love what they do. My son is not an athlete but he is a musician and it is great to find a place he truly gets to be a musician and perform just like his soccer playing friends get to have their moment to shine. My children have participated in numerous after school activities and this is by far one of the best things they have done. Teaches teamwork, self confidence, and music!

Carlton Jones: Chuck Levins Washington Music Center, has been the most anticipated retail store visit since I was 13 years old. Every local musician I know in DC has spent time and money at Chuck’s. I recently made a purchase and it went as all my transactions made there since approx 1970. This time it was online but a very personal affair, Adam Levin was helpful and more accommodating that an old guy could ask for. It was still like xmas awaiting my package that came overnight and with a wonderful gift. I can honestly say it was the most emotional purchase I’ve made in decades, not the most expensive, not a life changing acquisition just a memory evoking moment that included family members and friends passed on that I think of frequently whom I spent many hours playing music with and having the best times of my life. Me, my family, friends and Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center…. Thanks again Adam, if this is my last purchase please know they have all been the best!
Rachel Ellis: Bought my fiancé a guitar here a year ago. Sales person was friendly and helpful. Good covid protocol for the time. Sales people weren’t pushy and were well informed on guitars. Bought the Taylor GS Mini and it’s been a great guitar. Would definitely check them out if you’re in the market for an instrument. Only downside was slightly outdated equipment/billing systems, but nothing a little patience doesn’t fix.

I had a small problem with a piece of gear I was really excited to get, and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate me. General manager Adam Levin reach out to me and oversaw my exchange. That kind of personal touch made it clear that they care about their customers.
Bryce Wagner: I worked personally with Pete Fleming to order my new bass amp. I saw a post on Reverb for an amp I had been looking for and Pete was very helpful. I’d also like to mention that he made me feel safe making such an expensive purchase over the phone for it to be shipped to my home town. Pete even went back to the warehouse to grab the amp because we both couldn’t believe they actually had one in stock. As soon as I paid, it was removed from reverb and he’s sent me receipts very swiftly to assure it was mine! I would highly recommend this store. dylanvs: I ordered a yamaha dtx8k mesh electric kit online. This kit was impossible to find anywhere else backordered on every other music site i went to so i was already happy i found it here. They got it to me quick using a freight company called distribution by air, i think it took just about a week which is good considering it was an entire pallet of boxes. The customer service from both the freight company and chuck levins was great, both companies reached out concerning my delivery making sure i could be there to sign and to let them know id got my shipment. Also the shop pay option for 4 installments is a huge plus! Couldnt ask for more

Vassilios Vassiliadis-Laouto Lobby: Fantastic local music store. Customer service is awesome and the manager Dave Belazis always goes above and beyond to help you get the best deal. They also offer musical classes and sell any type of musical instrument, accessories and equipment. I rather support this nice store than other online or other real music shops.
Dale Dean: Extremely professional service allowed me to find the right edition of sheet music that I wanted. And we conferred back and forth by text messages before I even entered the store to pick up the edition. Outstanding and responsive treatment.

Christine Hill: I went to Foxes music just to come see and admire the store cause of all the instruments. It was my first time going there and usually i’m a anxious mess kind of a person. I was immediately greated by good ol Dave! (Welcoming and friendly) He showed me some books, amps, intruments, etc. demoed some pedals. Not once was there a pressure to buy or anything which was super nice! No sales pitch and I thoroughly appreciated that. I saw this mustang and he showed it to me and all was history! I walked out with a slammin deal and stand in top of that! Thanks so much Dave! Will definitely be coming back!

TJ Sanner: I love guitars. I love visiting awesome shops that have amazing inventory and amazing staff that are excited to be in that environment. Action did not disappoint today. Hands down the best inventory of Huss & Dalton, Collings, and vintage Martin. They even spur of the moment fit me in and made a quick truss rod adjustment while I waited. Totally unbelievable. I am a small business owner myself and only hope these guys know how awesome they are! Thanks for an amazing visit, truly a 6star experience! We traveled from Annapolis just to see their shop and will be back 100%.
Matt Lyttle: The greatest guitar shop around, no question. Incredible selection of new and vintage instruments. All sorts of pedals and gear. Extremely knowledgeable staff. And they are as welcoming as can be. Just be respectful of their stuff and they will treat you like family - no matter how deep (or empty) your pockets are!

Matthew Morgan: This place is the best guitar shop in the DMV and it’s not even close. The guys know their stuff and they care about what they do. I came in with a California strat a few months ago and the owner took time to walk me through the history of the guitar, the value, and helped me weigh pros and cons of investing in some repairs. They’ve set up 4 of my guitars and have done A+ work on each one. Love these guys!

Duke Ellington School is such a wonderful experience for these children. Kids who are driven by the arts are special. These kids find it difficult to navigate in some school environments. Ellington is a place where they not only survive…they thrive!

She has progressed so far with the help of the wonderful staff at School of Rock. My son started playing drums there about a year ago in the Rock 101 class for younger kids. He absolutely loves his teacher Bill - going to his lesson is his favorite activity of the week ! He just debuted on stage in one song last weekend and is excited to be joining the show program next season! Couldn’t be happier to give this school a five star review!

Laura Spriggs Gray: We started drum lessons for my daughter two months ago and she is loving it. She even enjoys practicing which is very different from previous music lessons. The instructors make it fun to learn and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend giving them a try if your children are interested in music.

Andrea Hiltner: My kids have been coming to School of Rock since they opened in Haymarket and have loved every moment. The staff is wonderful and my children went from never having picked up an instrument to playing in the Rock 101 band in just a few months.
