Dian Stevens: I started working at the DC location of Ultimate Performance in November 2021. I was in drastic need of a reset. I gained weight during the pandemic, thanks to many poor choices on my part, and I knew that I needed to take some action. Ultimate Performance exceeded my expectations. I worked with the amazing Owen Browne. Owen is a dedicated fitness professional. Owen is patient, calm, and invested in helping each of his clients achieve their fitness goals. I felt safe with Owen and enjoyed how he consistently challenged me. Please do, however, watch out for Owen with his rep counts. He always seemed to add a few extra reps just when I thought I was done. Ultimate Performance has a unique atmosphere. The gym is immaculate and everyone knows your name. All of the trainers take the time to motivate every client in the gym. Another bonus is watching the trainers work on their own fitness. The trainers all look amazing, of course, but there is no resting on laurels at Ultimate Performance. The trainers challenge each other just as they challenge the clients. It is a great motivator. I am grateful to Owen for helping me shed 28 pounds. In addition, my cardio endurance has improved, my clothes fit again, and I feel great both physically and mentally. So, if you are tired of watching the numbers on the scale climb ever higher, tired of the mental fog, tired of making excuses, and positively fed up with purchasing compression garments to fit in your clothes, then you should definitely consider Ultimate Performance. Working with Ultimate Performance has been one of my best decisions. I recommend Ultimate Performance without hesitation.

Michail Charissis: Gavin at UP has (safely, smartly) pushed me to work harder than I ever thought I could. His expertise has been key in helping me get closer to my fitness goals. And the results speak for themselves-- I am in the best shape of my life and still making progress! At the start, I was a bit resistant to follow recommendations for dietary modifications, but I think that was me just not wanting to disrupt my pandemic routines and habits (many of them not great). I'm glad I decided to give it a try-- it really did jump-start my progress. Over time I've been able to get to a place where I feel like (as a VERY food-oriented person) I'm definitely NOT on a 'diet', but just being mindful about what I eat and enjoying what I eat. The workouts are HARD. And that's what I wanted-- I didn't want to just be kept busy for an hour. Over the course of my time at UP, I've gotten stronger and been able to gain lean muscle mass. I am still occasionally surprised, and very happy, when I look in the mirror and see the changes that I've been able to make. Gino Vaccari: My expierence has been nothing short of amazing! I came in wanting to change after a decline in both diet and working out. My trainer Jonathan has held me accountable and took the time to understand my wants and goals and came up with a plan to get me there and I'm beyond grateful for his help and guidance throughout the last few months. James Wilson: After adding pandemic lbs I needed a reset. I was considering joining a local gym and getting a personal trainer once a week, but a friend pointed me to UP. Absolutely, without doubt, this was the better decision. The holistic approach of combining diet with workouts is key to reaching your goals. In 10 weeks I have lost 25lbs and halved my body fat %. Make no mistake, the workouts are HARD. After my first session I needed a 20-minute sit down in the changing room to recover my senses, and many times I have left feeling absolutely spent. But they have become much easier to recover from, and the feeling of achievement is insane. There's a great sense of camaraderie amongst both the trainers and the clients that keeps things enjoyable, and the strength gains come quickly so you feel the progress you are making. Henry Defriez: Fully recommended to anyone seeking to achieve big weight loss or other fitness goals. I have been working with UP for just over two months, and am halfway to my weight loss goal (30 pounds so far). My trainer, Evelyn, has been a fantastic guide and motivator in our sessions, but also outside the gym in monitoring my nutrition plan and helping me stay on track while travelling (picking restaurant menus, preparing hotel gym sessions etc.) While the focus is naturally on hard work, the atmosphere in the gym is friendly, supportive and relaxed. It’s not cheap, but it’s definitely worth it for the physical and mental health benefits, especially if like me you have been struggling to make those gains by yourself.

Sebastian Bernal: Overall, training at UP has been an extremely positive experience. I was able to increase my strength, reduce my body fat percentage, and lose more than 20 lb over a period of 16 weeks. At UP you'll find a group of professionals who are willing to provide you with a detailed diet, and guide and push you through intense hour-long sessions. Special shout-out to Clay for helping me reach my fitness goals. A great motivator even during the 6:00am sessions, he had a wealth of knowledge on dietary needs, safety techniques for all types of lifts, developed a unique training plan that focused on my fitness goals and needs, and kept me accountable. At UP you will reach your goals. However, it does require commitment. If you follow the diet plan and show up at every sessions, you'll like reach a level of fitness you did not have before. Alexander Ragonese: I’ve been working out with Robert at UP for a little over 6 weeks now. While I’m excited I’ve lost over 13 lbs, I am more excited how dramatically the UP program has improved my quality of life. I have more energy, think more clearly and am happier overall. Brian Weiss: DO IT! It’s not just that Ultimate Performance and the program gets results (it does... I’m down 50+ pounds!), but it’s also a complete mind and body change that sets you up for long-term success. It really is training in the broadest sense, because yes, it includes strength and lifting, but it also teaches good habits on nutrition, hydration, sleep and overall wellness. The program emphasizes the interconnectedness of these elements with a cool app and a trainer who is always there for you (whether you’re in the gym or not). As for the gym in DC… a totally supportive community where the team knows your name, and everyone roots for one another. Special shout out to Gavin – a first-rate trainer who built a custom program for me (that drew on his deep knowledge about the science of fitness) and pushed me through every obstacle to get the results he said were possible on the day we met. Caroline B: Derrick is the first personal trainer that I have worked with, and I only wish that I had done so earlier. In the past, I always considered working out to be a chore, but Derrick’s style of circuit training is both challenging and engaging. The hour that I spend training tends to fly by, which is not something I can say about any other workout I’ve tried. Not only do I always leave in a good mood, but I can actually see and feel how much stronger I’ve gotten since I started working with Derrick, which is an awesome feeling. I also really appreciate Derrick’s flexibility when it comes to working with his clients' schedules. If you have to reschedule a session, Derrick will work to fit you in during a different time slot that week, no questions asked. He’ll also train you virtually if you are out of town. I can’t recommend Derrick highly enough!

Peter Bruland: I've been training with Derrick for five years now, and I can't recommend him more highly. After getting no results with another trainer, I've been amazed by the changes I've seen since starting with Derrick. Training with Derrick is intense. He has a full arsenal of exercises--something new each week--designed to target and sculpt each individual muscle. It never gets boring, and it never gets easier. And that's the best part: all the hard work means real results. Derrick also has a rigorous (yet simple) diet plan that keeps you honest and gets you shredded. The most unique thing about working with Derrick is the great feedback. Each session ends with a weigh-in and body-fat check, and Derrick sends regular feedback on my meal logs throughout the week. I can also text Derrick anytime about anything--workout advice, nutrition questions, injury issues--and he answers in a flash. One more thing. Beyond the workouts and the nutrition advice and the motivation, Derrick is a genuinely good person. He cares about you. He can tell when you're having a bad day. He listens. And that's what makes him such an effective trainer. Bottom line: give Derrick and try and you'll never look back.

eden berhane: I’ve been training with Derrick for about a year now. Like a lot of people, I’d put on some covid pounds and was looking for a diet/lifestyle change. Derrick has been fundamental in helping me achieve that. He provides you with a realistic diet plan (abs are made in the kitchen after all) and he’s knowledgeable about exercises and technique. He listens to the goals you have and will work with you to get there. As someone who used to dread going to the gym, I can’t say enough good things about Derrick. He’s held me accountable, given me tools I’ll be able to use in the future and has made exercise something I actually look forward to. jp hooth: In the beginning of 2022, I was at my heaviest weight; I knew I needed to make a change and when looking for a personal trainer, I knew I had to be open-minded about selecting the right one. Thus far It has been an extraordinary experience working with Derrick, he has pushed me to new levels with my fitness that I did not anticipate I could achieve. Exercise, homework (cardio) and nutrition are part of a program designed to meet your needs. Derrick keeps track of your progress. I have never worked out with a trainer who has such a wealth of knowledge. As a personal trainer, he is dedicated to understanding how to help you achieve your goals and develop a plan that includes nutrition and lifestyle habits, but most importantly, holds you accountable for your progress. He keeps his workouts intense, fun and respectful of your injuries. He does not attempt to push you too hard, but just to the point where he understands what you can do. Although I have a terribly busy work schedule, Derrick has found ways for me to fit training into my schedule and stay motivated to keep pushing each week. Derrick always goes above and beyond to make sure I was reaching my goals, guiding me through my diet and pushing me through my workouts.

Mike D: I have been working out with Derrick for just over a year now. In the first three months I lost 30 pounds of fat and gained 10 pounds of muscle, transforming my body. A year later I have been able to maintain what has proven to be amazing results due to his easy to follow diet program. I bounced from diet to diet and may have seen short term results but then I always reverted back. Not this time! Derricks workouts are always changing and very challenging. But, it's not the same old boring exercises and he keeps it fun. Having worked with many different trainers in the DMV I can say Derrick is the best!

Tommy Rector: Derrick is fantastic at what he does. With him, I’ve lost a significant amount of weight and body fat, feeling the best I’ve ever felt. His workouts are intense, offering a wide variety of exercises. He helped get my nutrition on track, something very maintainable without any crazy diets. But most importantly, he has given me confidence. I now feel comfortable going to the gym by myself to continue a healthy lifestyle. He is the best of the best.

Lou Manzo: Derrick is the real deal. He gives you a clear manageable plan of cardio, weights, and diet. You will get the results you want, if you trust the plan. Plus, working out with him is actually fun. Every session has new exercises and I highly recommend doing “partner” workouts. His goal is to get you “shredded” so that your are self sufficient in the future without him. He will hold you accountable, but won’t stress you out. Highly recommend.

Maya Threatt: Derrick is a great trainer! If you want results, he's the trainer for you. He holds you accountable. I feel as though the workouts are tailored to my current fitness level. During the time I have spent with Derrick, I have reach my weight loss goals in rapid time in comparison to if I undertook this journey alone.

theresa peterson: Derrick is an amazing trainer! Each session is challenging in a new and different way, so the workouts are never boring. Most of the workouts rely upon your own body weight, not machines, so they are dynamic and high-energy. In addition to training sessions, he also works with you on crafting a diet plan and monitoring calories and nutrition. Making those lifestyle changes can be tough, so it helps a lot that Derrick has such an upbeat, encouraging personality and a great sense of humor. He's great at motivating and gives helpful, realistic advice on how to stay on track. Most important, Derrick's methods get results! After only a month, my weight and body fat have gone down, my clothes fit better, and I feel great. Derrick has also been really flexible about accommodating my crazy work hours, which I really appreciate in a trainer!

Kate Tikoian: Hands down the best and most effective personal training I have ever experienced. I have worked out with several other personal trainers at gyms and privately in the past, and they don't begin to compare to Fitness Together's programming. Metrics and measured progress are built into the program so that your workouts and programming can be fine tuned to help you achieve your specific goals. Stacy, the owner, is a huge part of the quality of their services and she has a high bar for the trainers and staff that work with her. All of the staff I have worked with have been great but I want to call out Hillary in particular. She is personable, professional, and so good at training. She knows just how to help me achieve the correct form (even remotely), knows when to push me and knows when to help me dial it back so I don't overdo it. She has helped me take my high level goals and turn them into actionable steps I can achieve program over program. I have never been stronger physically and I have never felt so confident about my ability to push through when it feels hard as I have since I've been working out with Hillary. Nan Li: Personal training delivers results---especially this team! This is not a standard neighborhood gym. This is a team of experienced trainers striving to help you achieve your fitness goals with the most scientific and professional approach. I joined FT after 6 years absent of any workout (2 pregnancies, little kids, busy work and travel, etc). Since the start of the pandemic, I've been training with Kristina from home, who also provides nutrition advice along the way. It has been an amazing experience. She is effective, professional, knowledgeable and fun. The program she designed for me is challenging but not daunting. The nutrition advice and information she provides are also super helpful. I now have more energy, look leaner, sleep better and generally feel great, despite the lock down situation. I'd highly recommend FT to everyone who is determined to get their fitness back.

Joseph Pigg: When I worked with Doug over a decade ago he helped me get in the best shape of my life. Then, I was focused on getting bigger and buffer. After a number of years, that changed, and so did my overall level of fitness - and not for the better. Working with him again, my priorities have changed and so has his approach. We’re now focused on mobility, flexibility and long term well being. His approach evolves with you and your needs. I feel better than I have in a long time. There’s no magic way to stay fit and active,, it takes hard work. But DSM Fitness and Doug make that work manageable, fun and sustainable.

Larry Schmit: First of all, let's get the whining out of the way: * Your current age is irrelevant: If I, at 60 yrs old, can see results like this, there is no reason why anyone else cannot. * Your current shape is irrelevant: This isn't a one-size-fits-all workout program, Doug will tailor the overall program and every individual workout to your current overall condition as well as day-to-day variations/issues you may be having. * Your injuries *may* be relevant, but with an injured knee, bad ankle, and impinged shoulder, Doug took those into account, worked around them but also worked to strengthen them so that they become less of an issue over time. None of the exercises by themselves are all that hard, but that is the paradoxical nature of a DSM Fitness workout: It's the easiest program in the world to follow: all you have to do is exactly what Doug tells you to do. It's also the hardest thing you will ever do in your life...! But the results speak for themselves: I have lost 20lbs training with him, dropped 10 percentage-points in bodyfat, dropped my resting heart-rate from 72 to 56, had my doctor cut the dose my prescription cholesterol med in half, dropped 6" off my waist, added anywhere from 2" to 8" of muscle to my arms, shoulders, chest, quads and calfs, and look and feel better than I have in decades. And all of that via body-weight exercises that don't require hundreds of dollars of expensive equipment, heavy dumbbells, or anything more than the time it takes to sit on your butt on the couch and get through a 60-minute episode of a TV show. Commit to the program, get through the first 2-4 weeks (those were the hardest), DRINK YOUR WATER!!, and you will be amazed at what starts to happen after that....

Geovani Bonilla: I've worked out with Doug on and off for the past 15 years. When I was diagnosed with arthritis of the shoulders and was in so much pain and physical therapy had limited impact, Doug developed a back and shoulders workout for me that to date, has eliminated my shoulder pain and rarely even take Aleve. I am training with Doug again to improve my strength and resistance as I want to do more Tough Mudders and Spartan Races without injuring my shoulders. Getting great results and seeing great improvement in my cardio endurance and strength.
Response: Geovani sent me this update after his competition: I did my first Tough Mudder in 2017. I enjoyed the challenge and team work that the race promotes, but being about 10 ponds overweight and not in the best of upper body strength caused me some non-serious injuries and bruises. The course is a tough course that’s just over 10 miles. You run from obstacle to obstacle. Each obstacle is a combination of mud curling, upper body strength and endurance. Some obstacles you curl on your belly in mud and sand to avoid barb wires and in others you swing from the monkey bars to make it across a pond of ice water. Most courses you have to with with others as it's impossible to do alone, that may include creating a human pyramid to get through the final obstacle that’s called the Happy Ending. For 2018 I decided to train with Doug to be better prepared. I lost not only the weight, but strengthen my core, cardio endurance and upper body. I was able to complete the course, do all the obstacles (you can choose to skip some) and had no injuries besides the scratches from the rocks and sands in the mud. The best thing is that I’m keeping the weight off and have a great new workout routines to incorporate into my workouts.

Joe Nye: I can’t say enough good things about Doug as a trainer. As someone who deals with chronic back pain, I was very hesitant to start working out again out of fear that it would cause me to get injured. Doug was very understanding and was able to design a workout program that allowed me to grow in both strength and confidence at my pace. After working with him for almost a year my pain has significantly improved and I feel great! Doug is professional, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. He’s definitely worth a try.

Sandra Stewart: We love it! This is the best gift to give yourself. Doug has trained my husband and me for the past year or so. My husband and I had different relationships to exercise and fitness levels. Doug tailored a different program for each of us. He is really a pleasure to work with and he also knows how to keep you pushing yourself so you see the results. He adjusts every workout to keep it interesting and to be sure you are accomplishing your objectives. He works with injuries as well. I had a chronic tight neck issue that disappeared after working with him. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced - I highly recommend him!

Tamaro Hanna: I love DSM Fitness! First of all, Doug is compassionate and focused. He creates an amazing workout routine that challenges you and surprises you. In other words, you are going to sweat (a lot) and want to curse him out BUT you find that you are stronger and braver than you imagined. Doug is friendly and encouraging and his sense of humor and commitment to you and your goals are humbling and refreshing. Yes, he pushes you but after the sweat and soreness...you will thank him! Trust me, you will get the results you want! You will become healthier, stronger and amazed at your accomplishments. Doug works you out physically, but he also addresses your nutritional intake. He understands that becoming healthier and having that body you've always wanted means that you have to combine aerobic, resistance training, a wholesome diet, and a balanced lifestyle. Doug never made me feel bad when I slipped up and indulged in something sinfully delicious. Instead, he encouraged the occasional treat as long as you're good 98% of the time. Doug is a realist...he understands that working out and eating healthy can sometimes be dull. As a result, he varies the workouts and keeps them fun (yes, I said fun) and interesting. He is your biggest cheerleader. I always felt great while working out with Doug (even when my muscles were fatigued and I thought I couldn't do one more set). As you can see, this guy is amazing! You're looking for a trainer, right? Why not train with the best! You are going to love the results...seriously. Hmmm...I sound like a spokeswoman in a commercial.) I guess my passion for DSM Fitness overtook me. Oh well...see for yourself. Love you Doug!

Linda Raber: There aren't many 56-year-olds who can hold a 5-minute plank. I'd be willing to bet that all of us who can are Doug Murphy's clients. Doug is an outstanding personal trainer who is dedicated to the healthy pursuit of your personal goals. I have trained with Doug for about 10 years. I came to him to help me with weight loss and have consistently gained strength. I have scoliosis, and Doug has worked to strengthen my abs--the muscles that support my spine. I recently had a severe ankle and leg fracture. Doug has been working in conjunction with my physical therapist to keep my body strong and my ankle safe through a six-month recovery period. I can't recommend Doug Murphy enough. He's my trainer for the long-term. If you can put in the work, he should be yours.

Jana Harald: I had tried different fitness trainers in the DC area and was disappointed by their lack of professionalism, absence of variety of workouts, and failure to personalize training sessions. I was looking for a trainer who paid attention to the individual needs of clients, followed progress and kept training sessions goal focused. Then I found Doug! Since I started training with Doug I have gained strength and lost body fat. He has kept me motivated through tracking and genuinely caring about my progress. Doug tailors my workouts to always challenge me and push me to the next fitness level. Seeing true results from the workouts inspire me to continually strive to meet my fitness goals. The training sessions are always varied with new exercises and twists to staple exercises that keep the workouts challenging and fresh. Marion Stefan: I would highly recommend DSM Fitness in Chevy Chase DC. Doug Murphy is a great personal trainer who will tailor the training to each individual's needs. I'm personally working on increasing strength and flexibility, while others may focus more on aerobic/cardio exercise (although Doug emphasizes the full-body workout, so there might be elements of cardio in your regimen even if your focus is on strength/flexibility). Doug knows his field well and will really motivate you during the training, and will also give you great insight into what you should do on your own during the time between sessions, and will teach you about things like warming-up (and -down), proper form when exercising (really important), nutrition/hydration, and heart rates/exertion (and related safety issues) which are all, as I found out, just as important as the exercises themselves. I'm very happy with my training and would very much recommend.

Nickole Lowe: For years, I have struggled every day to remain active in my career and socially, despite having to contend with an atypical form of arthritis that attacked my shoulder joints, wrists, hands, and occasionally knees. About a year ago, I began working with Doug to strengthen my weakened and painful joints and to increase my stamina. Before I began to work with him, fear of further injury had prevented my exercising. Doug has guided me in a highly sensitive, patient, intelligent, flexible, and careful way to produce benefits that far exceeded my expectations. In fact, the last time I saw my rheumatologist, he was both surprised and impressed with the striking improvements in my joints, particularly my shoulders. I highly recommend Doug to anyone who has suffered from conditions similar to my own, and who has been afraid to initiate or restart an exercise program.

Lauren: Love this gym. The COVID protocols are excellent (temp checks, contact tracing, personal sanitizing equipment, hefty cleaning each day, and top notch air filters), and you can't beat the instructors. I love the variety of indoor and outdoor classes, and they are great at tailoring everything to your fitness level. Personal training is excellent as well. I joined in March 2021 and I look forward to being a member as long as I live in the neighborhood.

Jack Clauff: I joined in September. Fit360 DC has a variety of classes indoors and outdoors. I've generally done the big box gyms but the classes here have greatly helped with my flexibility and balance. Not to mention the gym itself is great and has plenty of weights to get your workout in! The instructors are always keeping in mind safe distancing and there is ample cleaning products to use in the gym to wipe down. Highly recommend for someone looking to get in shape during and post Covid!

Gaby Madrid: FIT360DC is the BEST gym in DC!! 👏🏽👏🏽 They go above and beyond to make sure that everyone is staying safe and healthy during the pandemic. They also have a variety of workout options to fit your comfort level. I absolutely loved their in-person classes!! I recently moved and have joined their virtual classes. The virtual classes are just as challenging and engaging as the in-person classes. Brian, Edgar, and Amina hold it down for folks on the virtual side, and have kept me from turning into a couch potato 🙃💕

Jennifer Katchmark: Debbee and the Fit360 team have been exactly what I have needed to help me emerge from my quarantine coma. In the 5 weeks I have been working with Debbee my posture and form have improved, I have gotten past that "always sore" part of getting back in the gym with targeted stretching, and I feel so much stronger already. Before I came back to the gym I had begun to notice that I was feeling sore and stiff all the time just from being too sedentary, and when I occasionally feel it now from a great workout is a wonderful change. I feel stronger, I get winded much less often and those quarantine pounds are already starting to come off, in a healthy, sustainable way from Debbee's diet coaching. My endurance has improved to the point where I can easily do 100 continuous kettlebell swings, and we are already safely adding weight to my reps. I am very happy with my results already, and I'm excited to see my continuous improvement from my ongoing training from Debbee after the Quarantine Comeback program.

Lewis Yelin: FIT360DC is doing it right. Safety first. Small classes for proper social distancing. Disinfecting the equipment after each use. They even upgraded the ventilation system for added protection. They've just reopened, and I had my first gym workout in months. It was great to be back in an environment that felt clean and safe. As usual, the trainers are excellent -- encouraging and attentive. This is a neighborhood gym that welcomes everyone. Whether you're just starting out or have been a gym rat for years, this is a place you'll feel comfortable. Very much worth checking out.

Lizi Barba: After spending far too long at WSC, I finally got the nerve to quit, and I ended up at FIT360 years after regularly walking by and peeking in. I was hesitant at first about joining a small gym because I was accustomed to the cold, impersonal experience of larger gyms. But Fit360 completely changed my mind. I ADORE this gym. The staff is incredible, knowledgable, supportive, and welcoming. The classes are challenging and never boring. The equipment is top notch and plentiful—you'll never lack what you need or want. When COVID hit, Brian and his team pivoted to virtual classes and then leaned heavily on outdoor classes at Meridian Hill Park. They now offer a number of options for every pandemic comfort level, and I have no doubt they will come back stronger than ever when everyone is finally able to exercise again inside together. You will never regret going to and joining this gym. It is the best gym I've ever been to.

Chelie Setzer: FIT360 is an amazing neighborhood gym! The owner and fitness instructors really care about their clients, and they've been going above and beyond to ensure we can all still work out safely during this pandemic, from improved cleaning measures to outdoor and virtual class offerings. The workouts are always dynamic and I love being part of the FIT360 community.

Rizwaan Akhtar: An amazingly effective and inclusive gym. Though I left this gym a year ago due to a move, I still credit my physical wellness today to Brian and FIT360. Because of their both challenging and welcoming environment, I not only grew stronger and healthier, but I feel like I have a solid foundational knowledge to build on. I credit this a lot to Brian’s unique and effective instruction. Especially now after joining a new gym after my move from DC, I’ve really come to appreciate how high-touch their support is. I wouldn’t be able to weightlift, do kettlebell exercises, or use other equipment safely and confidently in my new gym today if it wasn’t for FIT360. Their trainers actually take the time to carefully instruct, give feedback, and keep you safe. Also this gym totally raised the bar for me in terms of what to look for in my new city. A gym can both motivate you to show up and know you’ll be welcome, and it can challenge you to be a stronger, faster, and fitter version of yourself.

Golzar Meamar: I was struggling to find a way to get back into strength training and moving my body intentionally during the pandemic. I am very lucky to live around the corner from this gem of a community gym! During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fit360 DC has been very communicative, flexible, and innovative when it comes to helping its members workout safely. The outdoor classes are challenging and efficient, and are completely masked and distanced, which has made them that much more valuable to me during the pandemic! The coaches are also informative and helpful, and challenge us consistently!

Manuel Morillo: I signed up for the six week challenge program with Corey in June with a goal of losing 25lbs. Now after 6 weeks of training and meal prepping, I am that much closer to my goal. I couldn’t make 25lbs due to having less time for outside training, but nonetheless I am extremely happy and pleased with the progress I made and, albeit slowly, continue to make. The program was reasonably priced, even on a student budget, and Corey made the entire process of getting situated easy. Workouts were very intensive and also very well coordinated. If adjustments needed to be made Corey would help every step of the way and do his best to adjust so you can focus on reaching your goal. The added benefit of having an accountability group also helps tremendously when things might seem to get tough. Highly recommend giving Corey a call or a visit, he does great work!

Robbie Allen: Corey Belin is the definition of a ninja warrior on and off the field. He genuinely cares about his clients, is extremely professional, and supportive. Bethlehem Girma: My experience with Corey's bootcamp has been a positive and rewarding one. If you want results, he offers the necessary structure and guidance to help you achieve them. I first met Coach Corey about 3 months ago after my doctor told me I was overweight and needed to lose weight. Corey does special classes every month and the first classes I attended happened to be yoga. I remember telling him that I hated yoga and would skip it and come back to his night class. Of course, Corey convinced me to stay and give it a try. I did just that and ended up really enjoying the class. A Le: This is by far the best boot camp I have tried in the DC area. I have been going to the boot camp classes for almost a year. I have really noticed the change and improvement in my body. I'm a lot stronger and more toned. Corey Belin who is the personal trainer is a great motivator. Even though it is in a group setting, he makes you feel as if you are getting personal training one on one. Corey is original and always come up with challenging and fun routines so that the classes are never boring. As a bonus, he also works out with you on weekends in preparation for races. Come and try one of his classes and you will be hooked!

Anji Corley: The. Best. Trainer. Ever! Corey and his energy and outgoing personality is one of the best I have ever experienced. I’ve known him for over 20 years and his classes never cease to be boring or make my body feel sore… And wonderful! He is creative, innovative and really wants the best for you you just give him a little time and he will transform your body. His East-good SPIN CLASS WITH NO BIKES it’s been one of my go to for the last 10 years. It is so inventive… It’ll blow your mind oh and 30 minutes you are sweating and you feel good and you can go on about your day.

Naderge Pierre: 6 week Challenge with trainer Corey Belin, was the kick in the butt that I needed to start off my Weight loss journey with a bang. Corey's training technique was inspiring and motivating. He provided support even out side the workout sessions. I was able to learn how to change my eating habits and maximize my workout time to get much more satisfactory results of significant Weight loss and body fat loss. Although my 6 weeks are up, I will continue to work with him as my trainer to even go further with my Weight loss and journey of a healthier mind and body.

Nigel Williams: I signed up for Personal Training at Evolution shortly after I moved to DC. I am so glad that I did and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a serious and knowledgeable studio and team of professionals in the city. I worked out with 2 trainers (Jason H. and Patrick H.). While they had very different training styles they were both excellent and I saw progress and improvements in strength, stamina and endurance with both of them. Evolution is owned by Jack T. and he runs a very professional operation. All-in-all I couldn't recommend the studio more highly. The entire team of trainers is welcoming, unpretentious, knowledgeable and always focused on the client. If you are looking for serious training in a supportive environment, this is definitely the place for you.

Larry Gilstrap: If you are looking for intense, results-oriented, all-inclusive wellness training with a professional trainer, Evolution is for you. It is a training studio where clients work directly with personal trainers to achieve their goals and beyond using weight training, cardio, Pilates, and nutrition. The environment is friendly, supportive, encouraging, focused on fitness and not intimidating. It is truly a tremendous group of talented trainers and awesome clients of all ages. I have trained at Evolution for a few years now working initially with Jack Tisne and now with Joe Vancleve, both incredibly dedicated trainers. I also highly recommend Chris Coates for Pilates instruction. If this is what you’re looking for, give it a try. It is a rare find of dedicated and professional trainers working with motivated clients in a very warm and friendly environment.

Sam Feder: These trainers are the best. I have been lifting and doing weight training for more than 20 years, and I have never found a better group of trainers. They are very knowledgable, great motivators, and wonderful people. The gym is also an excellent facility, bringing together a very diverse group of people--all with different backgrounds and level of ability. I have been training here for almost two years and can't imagine going anywhere else.

Marjorie Bloom: For the past five years, I have worked with Joe VanCleve, an Evolution trainer, twice a week. Joe seems to have every conceivable credential in fitness training -- a BS in Kinesiology, a MS in Health Sciences and qualifications as a weightlifting performance coach among other credentials -- and he brings it all with his experience, high energy, good humor and good looks to every workout session. As a result of my work with Joe, my body is lean, toned and buff, and I have arms that never fail to attract attention. In fact, as I increase in age -- I'm 68 now -- my body seems to get younger! and I attribute it all to my work with Joe. Last October, I traveled to Nepal and trekked to Mt. Everest base camp which is 17,598 feet high. Before this trek, I only had hiked casually a few times and never at high altitudes but with Joe's training and guidance, I developed reserves of strength and endurance. Of course I was older than anyone else in the group, and although I trekked slowly, I never flagged, never became sick from the altitude and thrived on the challenge. I never could have done the trek without my work with Joe and his determination that I should have the physical fitness to complete the trek successfully. The only person who is more excited than I am about my success at Evolution is Joe. He invests all he has in every client, and he delights in the achievements that each one of us masters. For physical fitness, he has my unqualified vote!

David Michael: I've worked with Jacques for a few years now and he creates an incredibly supportive, motivational space to meet personal fitness goals. I started as someone who had trouble lifting at all due to joint issues and now move some serious numbers. He can accommodate different training goals and I strongly recommend him.

Miranda Weigler: Joe VanCleve and the guys at Evolution are the real deal. There is not a single time I went to see him that I didn't feel better afterwards. I was usually a good sore for a few days, but every day I got a little bit stronger. I love the diversity of the people they work with, and the interplay between pilates and power lifting. In a city like DC an authentic personal training experience is hard to come by, but these guys will keep you coming back despite the weather, your other commitments, no matter how much you don't want to workout that day. You will show up and you will be better for going from the inside out.

Michael Moore: This is it! A well staffed personal training facility with top notch trainers. For the past 4 years I have received the individual attention that I wasn't able to find at the other local gyms or Personal Training establishments. I cannot say enough good things about EVOLUTION.

Lauren Nickum: I have been attending David's boot camps for about 3 months, and it has been a great experience! The boot camps are challenging, but not too hard, and always leave me sore the next day! I have noticed that my strength has increased, (espcially core strength) since starting boot camp and I was able to double my plank time after a few weeks. David is reliable, professional, and knowledgeable. He answers lots of questions about fitness and shares personal experience which makes the sessions feel comfortable and not intimidating. I would highly recommend On The Go Fitness Pro for group off individual personal training.

Neil Falis: I started working with David several months ago, as I needed to lose weight and get back in shape again. I have already accomplished a significant portion of my goals, far beyond what I hoped for to this point. That is all because of David. He takes time to understand my individualized goals, and tailors workouts based on those goals. He also focuses on nutrition, sleep and other items which are important to me but are beyond what I retained him for. David also does a great job in pushing me during workouts, but not too much where I might feel dis-encouraged. I feel like I've accomplished a lot after every workout, without feeling like I can't move! I would very highly recommend David to anyone interested in losing weight, getting into better shape, bulking up, eating better or sleeping better. He is of a far higher quality than any trainer with whom I've worked over the years, both privately and as part of a club membership.

Carlyn Floyd: David is incredibly knowledgeable and holds me accountable for food and exercise on my own. He knows what I need to do to improve my fitness and he designs my workouts around those needs. He provides great motivation in his encouragement in each session. In - home training is really the only way to go... I can't get out of the workouts if they are in my own house!

Brian Urbas: Dave has been my trainer for the past 3 months and I couldn't be happier with my results. He has helped me improve my strength and conditioning to a level that I originally didn't think was possible. Not only that but he was also great about working around my schedule, which is a challenge with kids and a demanding job where I frequently have last minute travel assignments. I highly recommend Dave if you're looking for a trainer that will push you to be the best that you can be.

Uttara Vaidya: I have been working with David over a year now. I'm a professional Ballroom competitor and needed a trainer who understands and adapts according to the specific needs. He changes my workouts based on my injuries and body pains to make sure I get most out of every workout (very safely) which is BIG for me since downtime is not good for competitive business. More recently, my boy friend and my professional dance partner who has sciatica issues also started joining our sessions. David gave him a few physical therapy sessions to stabilize his core and now we have been working on strengthening his back which is HUGE for our career and the results have been great so far! What I like about David's workouts is that the routines are not flat. They involve a good mix of stability, rotation and plyo that is crucial to avoid injuries. Also not to mention David is very professional, always there before if not on time! I highly recommend David if you are looking for a scalable "therapeutic" workout where you can safely grow stronger without injuries with a professional yet very friendly trainer. He is now not just our trainer but a great friend!

Chris Kearns: David's training program is top notch. To start with he is professional, courteous and understanding. He is always on time, in fact he is usually early...When it comes to training, David will push you and encourage you. There is never a dull moment in his session, his workouts are not flat and stagnant, we are always trying new workouts. Lastly Davids knowledge is second to none, he has never left a question of mine un-answered. David is great! I highly recommend him to everyone interested in a personal trainer.

Terri Levin: David is an awesome trainer and Boot Camp instructor. I am 64 year old female and I don't like weight training even though I know I need it. David is so positive and encouraging it makes me want to excel. He always shows me a modification if I am unable to do the original exercise and helps me as needed. I just love his Boot Camp class! Anyone can do it! I would highly recommend David for your trainer or fitness needs.

Alisan Kula: I have been working with David Nickum for about 5 years now... maybe more. Currently we are doing our sessions through Zoom due to the pandemic. I have been very happy with his services. He has great advise. He is a voracious reader and constantly updates his fitness information. He has also been very flexible in scheduling. He comes up with good exercises when I’ve injured myself as well. All around this has been a great service.

J: I was visiting DC and did a few CrossFit drop in classes. The coaches were excellent and welcoming, and all of the class members were very friendly. The facility is excellent. Thanks for making my visit so nice.

Somak Ghosh: Used to be a member of the foggy bottom location and liked it. Not so much this one. -The equipment is probably from the 1980s. Some of the plates are so old they’ve turned red. Yet I’ve been charged multiple enhancement fees. -A lot of the machines are breaking down and don’t get regularly fixed. -The staff is nice but not that helpful. Other locations will actually help you and they have designated staff to hell tidy the weights -Most of the good equipment is in the CrossFit area. If you just want to lift weights you’re second class in this gym. I’ll probably leave soon. I wanted to end my “annual” membership but I learned in the fine text of my contract that it’s actually 13 months. Another scummy move.

Caetie Ofiesh: Easily the best gym in the city, reasonably priced and a great workout atmosphere - nice but not fancy, lots of people serious about fitness. Ive gotten some of my best training advice from staff there, Michael, Stacy, Aesha and others.

Libby: I never write reviews, however, given my horrible experience I decided to share. Belonged to this gym for a few months. Everything smells, needs to be cleaned / updated. You can see the machine rust / falling apart. You get what you pay for. Customer service is horrible. There is one woman who has a horrible attitude and closes the gym 15 minutes early than the actual listed closing time and rudely rushed me and other people working out at the gym on multiple occasions. I tried cancelling my membership and they made it extremely difficult and ended up charging me for 2 extra months, despite me moving more than 10 miles away. Overall, bad experience wouldn’t recommend.

Brendan Gregory: Really awesome gym! Lots of squat racks and bars on the second floor. First floor is just for cross fit but the rest of the building is for regular gym members. They also have personal training in a separate studio right on 14th Street.

David Lapidus: Fantastic gym. Have been a member since 2012 (Thomas Circle location) and been happy the whole time. Plenty of squat racks and places to perform olympic lifts. GREAT membership options especially compared to the bloodsucking national chain gyms.

Ashley M: I joined and was told the top floor would be closing in a week, but that ALL equipment and amenities would be retained (I was most interested in the sauna and Olympic weightlifting platforms). VERY disappointed in the false advertising. There is no longer a sauna, the locker room is TINY (the old one was super nice, the one available now is not), they got rid of the 2 Olympic weightlifting platforms, and when you email the manager to ask questions he ignores you. Really annoyed that I pay $100 a month and was told the gym has what I was looking for. When I talked to the front desk person (because the manager ignores emails), she said, “well you could go to one of our other locations if you want a sauna.” I tried to set up personal training, which you’re supposed to get 1 free session when you join, and I never could get a response from the person I was supposed to be hearing from. The person who works the front desk in the morning is often not there, so you have to wait around to get your parking validated. The pros: I really like the downstairs weightlifting room. It has a bunch of racks and free weights, and is technically a CrossFit gym even though there aren’t any official CrossFit classes offered. Some of the racks are really close together if you’re oly lifting, but we make it work. I also like that there is free parking at this location, unlike many others. Bring back the sauna and yoga classes and I’ll give a much higher rating. I can live without the oly platforms.

C E: The Go for It spirit at Balance Gym is beyond impeccable. All of us want to help out in the contribution to our wonderful community held together by the strength of our Federal Government. Imagine sitting in front of a computer screen, organizing files and papers, having important meetings day and night about policies that affect the 50 States if not the World. Yes, I would go again to Balance Gym!

Grace Phillips: Amazing facility! Very clean! Staff is very accommodating. I was only visiting for the holidays and they have a one week and a two week option! Equipment is suitable for heavy lifters and those who desire a simpler workout. They offer tons of classes at great times. I think I found my gym away from home!

Stephanie C. Giancola: An amazing gym with a phenomenal staff! Jacob, the GM was extremely patient and tending to my million questions about what the gym has to offer. Boy, was I surprised! They have a variety of good equipment available, different sections to do turf workouts, weight lifting, cardio, yoga, etc. the building used to be a spa, so the locker rooms are dreamy, and they offer specials on esthetic/massage work upstairs. I was able to take a boot camp class before signing up for a membership. The class was challenging, but within reason. The coach was enthusiastic, and everybody was having a good time. There is a Crossfit section as well! And they even offer classes like solid core, with the Pilates machine! This gym has everything you need, even parking in the back! Ask for Jacob and he’ll set you up. Also—lots of cool freebies like a free personal training session and three free Pilates reformer classes to start you off!

Gail G.: Group classes here are not very good, for the most part (definitely are exceptions- I also don't do yoga): same boring routines, same boring instructors. They do not change things up, and the popular instructors only teach 1 class a week, so that one class is packed. The group fitness used to be managed so much better-- constantly requested feedback and ideas.

Momena Ali: The equipment is fine and the facility is clean but the majority of the staff are quite rude and unwelcoming. I went it and handed my card to a woman who didn't say hi back or you're welcome, and didn't even look at me. She has done this several times. Besides the friendliness of the staff, I enjoy working out there.

Seth Price: This may be one of the best kept secretes in dc. Space is smaller but not crowded. If you want a spa like atmosphere for your workout without all the usually gym rats this place is ideal My trainer moved here a few months back and I couldn"t be happier. I read a few negative reviews before I went and frankly don't get it. I was always treated well and felt it was great value.

Ryan McLaughlin: Do not do business with this company! They just sent me to a debt collections agency for a billing error THEY MADE!! I joined about a year ago and signed a contract for 6 months of crossfit because I was moving at the end of the 6 months. I paid the entire amount in full up front at the start of the contract. At the end of my 6 month membership I moved and did not expect to hear from Balance again. About 5 months later I get a email from them stating that they ran some report and found that they somehow credited my account by $214 dollars 5 months ago but were only telling me now. They have yet to provide proper documentation for this and insist I check my banking records to find their error in which they claim to have credited my account by mistake. Instead of taking the time to resolve the error they made, they sent me to collections. I instantly paid the credit collection agency as one would as to not risk having my credit score negatively effected. I'm very sad to have to write this review because I enjoyed their gym but their billing departments practices are fraudulent and highly unethical. I would highly advise anyone not to join Balance Gym.

Aaron E.: Beware of their misleading billing policies! I was a member here for a year. I emailed them in early January 2019 to cancel my membership and received a response saying (in all bold font) that since I had pre-paid my final payment, I would “have no further payments due,” and my membership would run out on March 8. Much to my surprise then, Balance charged me $29 on February 15. I emailed them and asked that this charge be removed since I was previously told that I had no further payments. The billing person (Alex) quite rudely responded to me stating that this $29 is an “enhancement fee” charged to all members on 2/15. When I insisted that this charge be reversed because I was misled by their original email, I was simply told no and that this is part of the membership agreement. A proper business would have apologized for misleading me and offered a refund for the $29. Balance, however, clearly only cares about getting as much money out of you as they can.
Response: As a courtesy, Aaron was issued a refund and we have since resolved this issue with better communication about our membership policies.

Jason Yeung: Been a member for several months now. I’ve haven’t had a negative experience with team members. The people that workout here are also very respectful and friendly. In response to a negative review of a team member I wanted to share my experience with her. Towards me, she’s always been friendly and hospitable. She does her best to remember everyone by name and notices when your workout buddy isn’t with you, even to the point of asking if they’re ok. The lack of a 5th star is not because of the staff. I wish there were bumper plates, another squat rack, and high quality barbells. That’s most likely a corporate issue.

Ricardo Martinez: I must disagree with a previous review. Malape is a value member of the gym, she is courteous, polite and nice in general. If there is a piece of equipment that is behind the desk, she would gladly point it to me so I can grab it (due to COVID). Luis is another great asset to the gym, he always looks to have everything ready and clean for us to workout early in the morning, always say hi with a smile and good attitude. Vinicio Aguirre: Wsc Glover is a gym that I highly recommend to the neighborhood or anyone looking to go have a good workout. It’s had major changes since the original Covid transitions. The people there are welcoming and enthusiastic when it comes to its members. If you are an individual that is somewhat of a germaphobe, there is an employee by name of Shanica who works hard keeping the cleanliness of the gym to its highest standards. She makes sure the antibacterial wipes are always stocked and the workout rooms as well as mats are cleaned daily. Overall I believe you come to the gym you’ll agree with my review.

Bernard Holland: I have not been to WSC Glover Park since the pandemic and plan to rejoin when things quiet down. Before that I was there most days for ten years. The elderly black woman Lizzie was referring to is Mahlape who has been there for more than 20 years. Mahlape is the glue that holds that club together. All the people I know that attended the club adored Mahlape. I cannot imagine her being rude undeservedly to anyone. Moreover I have seen a few altercations between staff and members in my time at the club. Invariably it was the members who were at fault.

Millennial Max: The best thing about this gym is the amount of equipment you can use! This very location is where I started my -100lb weight loss journey. It's really close to home for me, literally! Had one bad experience here.. I wore a tank top and they denied me entry because it was a "stringer"..? There was the exact same shirt being sold to women. I was only allowed to workout if I purchased the female shirt!

J Peter Loftus: I’ve been working out at planet fitness in ivy city since 2015. The facilities are always clean and professionally managed. The staff are friendly and courteous people. There are always options even if the free weights and smith machines are taken so no excuses. Once you figure out the best time for your workout it is easier to set a schedule. Being open 24 hours is an advantage one must not ignore.Many times I have had a burst of energy at 3am and gone to work out there.

Lexie Rock: Very friendly staff and clean Planet Fitness! Javon is the best. Recommend parking in the garage. It’s free if you validate your ticket before leaving (if you’re there under 90 minutes you don’t need to validate). A great price for a nice gym. I used the hydrobeds as well. They’re awesome for post workout. The lockers also have locks attached to them which is nice. Pro tip: put in your phone the number and code of the locker you picked. The gym is on the second floor but they have an elevator if you need it. There’s also a bike rack right outside of the door and metered street parking.

Erica Phillips, M.A., Resident in Counseling: The facilities are clean. It’s very easy to get in and out to use equipment without any major waits. The staff always greets you with a smile and a hello which is such positive energy to get you motivated for your workout. The lockers come with built in locks that you enter a code to use, so no bother carrying around bulky locks anymore. If you are forgetful put the code in your phone! While I’ve had no need to use the shower area since I live so close, I would not hesitate to use them if I needed to as they are always clean. I have Black Card membership and the hydro waterbed massage is always great after a workout. I would just recommend that they add the stretching cage to the facility.

Gisselle Ramirez Orozco: I like that the place is very organized, has clean installations, respects the covid protocols, the restrooms and lockers work very well. You have a lot of variety to do a workout with the machines, and finally, the staff is kind and patient. Additionally, you have the hydromassage, which is amazingly relaxing. I definitely would recommend having the membership and joining this gym!

Vlad Z: I worked out here while visiting DC (from NY) and this Is the best planet fitness I’ve ever visited. Plenty machines all on one floor, huge space, lots of light, great staff.

Jacob Ferguson: Thank you very much to one of DC's only 24 hour gyms, located on a nice block surrounded by ghetto. Great price, the music is consistently God-awful, the stuff is purple, I suspect I caught Omicron from the showers, and I got charged a 2nd annual fee one day after canceling (being a member for 1 year and 2 months). Tomeka Gueory: I love this location! Friendly staff, great team. I have been a member since this location opened. I like to go early in the morning. It's not crowded during this time. The facility has effectively implemented the Clean-first strategy during the pandemic. Everyone wears a mask and team members are constantly cleaning. I usually bike to this location and bike parking is in front of the gym!

Jasmine Gambino: GymGuyz is like no other personal training experience I have ever had. I've trained with many different personal trainers but nowhere near the quality and expertise as their trainers. The convenience of having someone come to my home and work out just as efficiently as a gym is a plus. GymGuyz holds their trainers accountable and ensures that they're knowledgeable and reputable in personalized training. Hesfah was nothing short of phenomena when it came to checking in on me. Becky Hazen: I've really enjoyed my experience training with DeHenzel! The company managers are super responsive, communicative, and helpful - making initial signup and scheduling along the way very easy. On the training side, my experience working with Jodi in particular has been fantastic. I began training about 6 months postpartum, and she has helped me onramp toward getting back into shape at just the right pace. The option of doing at-home sessions over Zoom has also been super helpful during the pandemic. I highly recommend DeHenzel to anyone looking for a fuss-free way to train, including virtually, with a special recommendation for other postpartum moms (and dads!) looking for ways to squeeze fitness and self-care back into their routines. 5 stars!

Ashley Adams: After having my third baby in 5 years, I was looking to get back into shape. After researching several training options, I chose DeHenzel Training Systems for the convenience of home training and because they specialize in pre/post natal training. My trainer Susan has been amazing at challenging me each week, while also making sure I stay safe and recover from my c-sections properly. I feel so much stronger after working out with her every week! In addition, Sophie has helped me stay on track with nutrition, helping me adjust things whenever I hit a plateau. Leila Smith: What a wonderful company! My trainer was Michael and he was phenomenal to work with - I chose this company because they had trainers certified to do workouts with pregnant ladies. I had sessions with Michael from the beginning of 2nd trimester-ish through a couple of months post partum. 100% recommend. I got stronger, had more energy during a 2nd pregnancy, and had the motivation to keep going because Michael held me accountable in a fun and encouraging way with pregnancy modified exercises. When I had some complications due to the pregnancy, they were very accommodating with session scheduling which I appreciated during a stressful time. Anyways, under the approval and direction of my OB, I only gained 18 pounds during the pregnancy and successfully lost 70 freaking pounds post partum within 6 months of having the baby. 50 pounds happened working out with Michael. I did 20 on my own! Woohoo!

Seija Stratton: I would highly endorse DeHenzel Personal Training as a great virtual trainer option. I've worked with an in-person trainer before and wasn't sure how I would like training virtually. But it was extremely convenient and I would definitely do it again. I was matched with a trainer that was a great fit for my personality - knowledgeable and able to explain the exercises clearly and to demonstrate good posture. In addition, I appreciated my trainer's enthusiasm and caring attitude. I trained for 13 weeks while pregnant to keep in shape and maintain strength and flexibility. Ashley Kincaid: I highly recommend DeHenzel. Having taken tons of classes, including an OTF membership, multiple half marathons, etc., I would say DeHenzel is worth the investment. The team is super knowledgeable in exercise and nutrition, the workouts produce results, and the barriers are eliminated when someone just shows up at your house! I also think they are fairly priced having done quite a bit of research on trainers in the DMV. 10/10

Samar Yousif: From the very beginning, working with this company was extremely professional and an overall friendly experience. Our trainers name was Micheal, and he was outstanding. He was extremely patient and was willing to work around my sons disability. Micheal made every session fun and my son enjoyed every session with him. Joseph Foster: If you are looking for quality personal training in the privacy of your home, DeHenzel is a great option. They have a great small business vibe and they are very attentive and responsive. The pricing is very reasonable as well, given it’s a customized personal training experience in the comfort of your home or wherever you choose to conduct the workouts. Sana Awan: This gym is the most convenient to my house. The staff are friendly and generally the gym isn't too busy and kept pretty clean. However, ever since the renovation, the sauna has been down (about 2 months at this point). Every time I ask any of the employees when it will be back, they always just vaguely say "soon". This is one of my favorite amenities to use after my workout, so this is extremely disappointing. And of course, we are all still required to pay our full membership fee. You also shouldn't keep paying members in the dark as far as the timeline for it reopening.

karandeep singh: This is a great gym that will help you accomplish your goals. it has many machines and there is almost no wait to a max of 5-6 minutes per machine. everyone is very minding of wiping down machines. staff will talk to you and make you feel like home. Only thing that troubles me is how busy it can be during rush hour but that can’t be controlled! I would recommend this gym to anyone who is new to pros looking for a new gym!

Kelsi Van Veen: Staff is very nice here but the gym itself is kind of a mess. It seems to be standard here to not re-rack your weights, which makes it very difficult for small people like myself to use equipment that has had quite a bit of heavy weight added to it. Dumbbells are all mismatched and there are very few sets in the 10-15 lb range. Overall it seems that this gym caters to its heavy lifters at the expense of others who cannot lift as heavy.

Portia Lawson: TLDR: The Van Ness - DC location has been extremely difficult to receive information about a refund that should have been processed at the beginning of March. This is still an ongoing matter in which I expect to receive an update about. The sentiments of so many people in these reviews is resounding and I could not agree more, as this has been my exact experience. The management not helpful when cancelling your membership or dealing with payment issues. On Saturday, 1/29 I visited the Van Ness location to check out the gym in consideration of joining. I was given a tour and rundown of membership packages by Ethan Spalding (he was pleasant to work with). I then decided to enroll in what was advertised to me as a 12 month rate of $25/month (Access Level 2). This promotion included a trial period with 2 weeks of access to the gym, group classes, access to GG's On Demand, and 1 free personal training consultation. I was told if for any reason during this trial period I decided to cancel my membership, I would be fully refunded with no penalty. That was a lie. Because of my unexpectedly busy work schedule, I quickly realized that having a gym membership at this time is not ideal. I went back into the Van Ness site to canceled my membership/trial on Wednesday, 2/9. According to the Cancellation Questionnaire I filled out, I cancelled "Within Obligation Period - Rescission Cancellation / Buyers Right". On that date, I was told again that my membership would be cancelled with no penalty and I would be refunded the $25.66 payment I made on January 29. Instead of receiving this refund, I was charged "Club Dues" of $26.49 on Monday, 2/14... After my membership/trail should have been cancelled. Once I realized an additional payment was processed and I had not received a refund, I contact the Van Ness site for status on my account and refund. They advised me that I was charged again because of a delay in management processing the cancellation request, and the refund had been requested and should be returned to my account in no more than 10 business days. Cool! I'm patient, it's $50. No big deal at that point. [This part is long and boring] I was unfortunately apart of the Suntrust to Truist merger, so the card I originally provided was cancelled and a my new card was activated on Monday, 2/21. Fast forward to the last week of February. I realize there is still no refund. I contact again and am told the refund is still processing, I should see it "soon". Fast forward again to March 5. While on a work trip, I receive a call from the gym and am told, "In order to process the refund, I need to come back into the physical location." No explanation is given, they just say they need my physical card. I go back into the physical location on Tuesday, 3/8, and the associate I work with takes my new card information and says I should receive the refund "within the next few days". Great! Not great. Still, no refund. Guys, I GO BACK AGAIN on Tuesday, 3/22. On this visit I speak to the General Manager, Lauren Evans, who realizes my new card information was not updated correctly on my last visit, which he says is why the refund has not processed. He reviews the request and tells me, "You will receive your refund in 5 business days." For everyone keeping a timeline, that should be on Tuesday, 3/29. Upon checking my account on 3/30, I discover there is still no refund. I get a hold of Lauren Evans around 5pm that day for a status update on this refund. He then tells me he has "no way to track the status of the refund since it is something corporate handles". This makes no sense to me since this a business that deals with transactions all the time. He states that it should be processed in 10 business days (another extension) and he will keep an eye on it for me, contacting me with an update. Still no update from Lauren. Still no refund. I still intend to pursue this issue and hope that GG can rectify this situation swiftly! And if a refund is never processed, at least others will see how this company handles business matters.

Eric Rajendra: A total scam of a gym. Not necessarily this Van Ness location but the entire outfit!! Don’t EVER agree to use your credit card for auto billing. They will put fraudulent notes in their broken system and charge your card. Buyer beware.

Paul Gadalla: Just like many reviews on here I cancelled my membership months ago. Although I sent evidence that I was wrongly charged I keep getting the run around and not issued a refund. Don’t bother joining this gym.

Matthew Turk: Sort of run down equipment. Functional, but tired. Nobody re-orders the dumbbells so they are all scattered and in the wrong order. Price is about the same as other nearby gyms with much better amenities, that also do month-to-month with no traps or cancellation fees.

Ariane Bobiash: Sneaky, unclear cancellation and subscription policies. My partner and I were visiting family in the area for about 6 weeks and were told we could sign up for a month to month membership with no sign up fee or cancellation fees, just that we needed to provide 30 days' notice to cancel and that we would be charged biweekly. This turned out not to be completely true as we were charged an 'Annual Fee' of $75 per person' which we were not informed of earlier. Management was unhelpful when we brought this up. It's a shame, as the actual gym is decent and the front desk staff friendly. I simply hope we don't get charged on an ongoing basis in spite of our cancellation, as it seems to have been the case for many folks who have reviewed.

Brian Wee: There was a problem with the gym's membership management system which resulted in me being incorrectly charged late fees. The gym staff were very open to discussing where things might have gone wrong. After reviewing the facts of the matter, the management was eventually able to resolve the issue and waive all levied fees.

Allison Nielsen: It's a good gym! Lots of equipment and levels so it's kind of spread out and the locker rooms are nice. I will say that the equipment doesn't seem that new and some machines could use some upgrades/repairs (things like the fans don't work on them) but overall I've always enjoyed all the times I've been here!

Edward Wendel: Great gym and great trainers. I have been using gym since its opening. I am now 81 (yes, I know, old). Have been training for several years with Razonte Dunn. He may be exceptional at training high performing athletes, but he also has a special gift for taking everyone seriously and taking them to the highest level they can achieve. He not only knows the mechanics of training, he communicates a desire to make you succeed that is contagious. This experience has been life-changing.

Paxton Helms: Love this place and have been going for years. Lots of room, trainers are great (if you want to use them), changing areas are large and clean, and price is reasonable. I don't do classes but do love that they have a counterweighted dip and pull up machine. They also have parking! Great neighborhood resource.

Sam C: I do not recommend this gym, they have terribly dishonest billing practices. It borders on a scam. I requested cancellation of my account during COVID, and was told on the phone that "as a courtesy" they would instead freeze my account until I was ready to start coming back. 3 months later, they started billing me again. Shame on me, I only noticed this 4-5 months later. When I contacted them, they said "you are not eligible for a refund without proof of a previous written request to extend the freeze on your account." Despite the fact I was never told I would need to request an extension. I was never told I needed an extension, I was told to contact them when I wanted to come back. Reading through other reviews, it appears this is a common problem.

Lindsey Taylor: This review is specific to Razonte and his semi-private Explosive Performance (EP) Class. I have been taking Raz's EP class once a week for about 4 months and can see a real difference in my strength, how I talk to my body and my confidence in using free weights and the weight room. In total, I have lost about 20 pounds, and Raz's class and his wealth of knowledge absolutely was the catalyst. I have been a life-long fitness class attendee, and when Covid hit, I felt far more lost than I expect as I tried to come up with a consistent workout plan. As gyms in the area open back up I knew I needed to learn the basics of a weight room from a professional. Enter Raz. I couldn't afford personal training, but I could afford EP. I met with Raz and we talk about my goals, and after reviewing the body scan metrics, talked about realistic expectations and set a plan. Sure, the body scan said I needed to lose about 40lbs, but Raz said to me, "Realistically, where can you make small changes in your life that you can maintain to start to move towards whatever goal you have first? That is where we start". I still felt the fun, competitive aspect of group fitness, but I learned the correct form and how much weight I could really throw around, and saw a bunch of non-scale victories that I am very proud of. I think Raz's personality has a lot to do with my success. Each person in the class gets told what weight they should grab for each new movement and each person is getting personally coached or cheered on. You don't feel that lapse of attention, no matter how many people are in the class. There are times when he will push you because he knows you can do more, but never in a way where you feel like you are being yelled at or being called out. He listens to you, offers alternative movements before you have to remind him of your injuries, and all the while picking up on how you like to be motivated. From there he leans in to create a safe space for you to work hard (and it is hard) and push yourself to hit your goals.

Andrew Kugle: I've been a member of Capitol Hill Sport & Health for over a year now along with the semi-private Explosive Performance (EP) Class. My trainer Razonte has been phenomenal in getting me back in shape and building more muscle than I've ever had before. At first, I struggled to finish the hour training sessions that I did once a week. But he encouraged me to keep at it and suggested several workouts that I could do on my own on the days I didn't have a EP class. Now, I am able to work throughout an entire session and have increased my classes from one a week to two. If you put in the work and time with Raz, you will notice a difference in your energy level, your strength and overall health. Every few months, we do a check-in to see how much progress we made and I personally have seen my body-fat percentage decrease and my muscle-mass increase over time. While Raz will push you to work hard, he is cognizant of peoples' limits and abilities, prioritizing one's health. He's also a funny and great guy, who gives out constant encouragement and will hold you accountable. In my opinion, the price for the semi-private classes is worth it. You get to workout with a small group of people and you will definitely notice results if you put the time and work in. The gym itself is clean and has all the equipment you will need. The staff is friendly and encouraging to everyone who comes. Highly recommend being a member and taking Raz's sessions. - Andrew K.

Devon Murphy: Love this gym! Best gym in the area by far. My only recommendation would be to add mirrors in front of ALL the squat racks. It is beyond me why half would have mirrors and half do not.

Popa Joe: Nice and good cleaned 👌 recreation center.. two basketball courts, ..Mini golf course..,Full exercise room... Shower's an locker rooms.... Vip rooms with steam room and sauna ... Clean and sanitize everyday

Nivea Nanda: It's a great gym. Has indoor squash, table tennis and racket ball courts. Has a shallow swimming pool. The exercise equipment are well maintained and clean. One stop for all your physical workout needs. The weighing scales in the dressing rooms are ancient but accurate.

Denise Gardner: The covid-19 vaccination teams were good. But is you need to reach them prior to your arrival good luck I didn't to reschedule and that was an inconvenience.

Thomson Melson: It's an excellent gym in terms of space and equipment but the free weights section is usually packed in evenings which could be frustrating. Also they are either closed or operate on limited hours during university breaks which might not work well if you are not a student.

Mikayla Betancourt: All the equipment is old, delapidated and worn out. Machines dont adjust. The gym is tiny, and mostly treadmills. There arent enough weights for more than 10 people to work out at a time. Its like a cave. MOST IMPORTANTLY, there are NO sanitary whipes. Disgusting.

Shaun Coles: Air conditioning doesn’t work in the summer time. This has been on going for the 5 years I’ve been a member. Broken equipment not serviced in a timely fashion, blue floor mats are disgusting....maybe this is why multiple ppl claimed to have contracted MRSA from this gym. I wipe everything down before i used it. The vending machines take your money without giving you anything. Their summer hours are terrible, you might as well find another gym. Summer hours 6:30am-11 closed from 11-3 and reopens from 3-8p. They are closed during holidays. At times they are closed for 1-2 weeks at a time (for annual maintenance and various reasons) however, your Membership fee is never prorated. I really dislike this gym for those reasons. They’re cheaper and better gyms around but Ive stayed this long because it’s convenient to work. My membership fee is $40

Jon Davis: Although the equipment at this gym is very respectable, it is insanely crowded. If you do not go during off hours, it may be pointless to workout, especially for people who focus primarily on free weights and machines.

K A: The suckiest gym I've ever been to. They have the most annoying rule about not allowing you put your gym back near you when you workout, not even your hoodie. I mean, you can't even put your freakin hoodie on the ground! And yet when someone else does it, it seems perfectly fine, so I guess it really depends on the staff's mood, not the "rule"

Daniel Caroe: Almost at the end of my year membership and will not be renewing simply due to the customer service. In my experience, a good amount of the staff are hard to work with and even snobby at times and its takes multiple calls and requests to get anything changed on my account. Here are a few examples of the troubles I have had: 1) I called twice over the summer to freeze my membership for a few months while I was travelling. They said this would not be a problem and that they would do it.......I called a third time about month later to find out that they did not freeze it and were still charging me. When I told them about the first two times I called, they said they had no recollection of this happening. Kinda a waste of money for me in that case. 2) I was having some trouble with my personal training scheduling and called to get in contact with the PT Manager. I called multiple times over the course of a week and each time they told me he was busy. They assured me I would get a call back from him but this call never came. (kinda annoying he could not take the time for maybe a 15min conversation) 3) I had to cancel a PT session due to illness (strep) which they said meant I would not be charged a cancellation fee for my session. They definitely still charged me, and again, it was impossible to get into contact with the PT manager. Overall, it's a great facility but I find the staff to be pretty inadequate and kinda rude (namely a front desk person named Shaniya and one of the club managers named Dwayne). I loved my trainer Evan (highly recommend) but in the end, I feel like I could get what I need at another gym with a nicer staff.

June Wade: Scheduled a spa massage for my friend’s birthday at the Ritz Carlton/ Equinox (Foggy Bottom) location. The staff was courteous and the gym was clean. I was disappointed the spa does not offer champagne or snacks for special occasions, instead we were given “swag bags” full of gym advertisements and trinkets. If you’re not a guest at the hotel, arriving early is highly recommended (parking, etc). Must walk outside to enter Equinox since elevator access to spa is for guest only. My massage therapist was (Donna) friendly, courteous but chatty. I was not interested in talking about where I live, hearing comments about my “poor”elbows🙄 or asking why my shoulders were so tight during my 80 minute massage. Unfortunately , the massage was not good (technique). Ambiance was fair in the room, there was no soothing music or waterfall fountains, just dim lights, and a cool quiet room. The warm bed with robes was a nice perk.Not a fan of the massage lotion (dry paste) used, she had to continuously spend time stepping away from the massage to reapply. I’m giving this spa 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️since my girlfriend had a positive experience with her masseuse. In addition, they provided a quiet space and champagne glasses for us to enjoy our BYOB champagne post massage. Would not recommend, lacks luxury for the price. $500+ ( 2 people)

Lauren Arquette: As all the other reviews said, horrible customer service. The club itself is fine, but don't try to bring a guest and don't try to cancel the membership because it's impossible and no one responds. I was a member for all of a week and tried to quit because I was told when signing up a guest of mine could come if I gave them that guests info. Gave them my guests info- they never put it in the system and turned them away at the door without even trying to investigate the problem/track down the person who gave my guest the ok. Was also told they hard certain equipment for rent when they didn't. If this was a planet fitness I wouldn't complain, but this is a $200+/month club that markets itself as elite. Nothing is elite about their customer service. Per the customer agreement you get 15 days to cancel and get a refund- tried emailing the manager for my refund, tried calling the concierge and nothing yet. I'd love to know if they actually even answer the emails they get when they respond to these complaints "sorry to hear about your experience! contact us as at..."

TPMT Associates: Love it here as usual - they take care of the place and most importantly, the people who works out here take care of the place and is clean and tidy and doesn’t trash the place. As usual, it’s the people who come to gyms that are the messy/dirty and this place doesn’t have those ppl - not that I saw anyways!

John Heinemann: You get what you pay for. This gym doesn’t make sense for everyone, no one is a better person for going here, and a free gym in an apartment building is going to do 90% of what Equinox does. But the other 10%? I actually look forward to working out more when there’s both a sauna and a steam room, a saltwater pool, luxury bath products, memory foam floors for stretching, and refrigerators full of Eucalyptus infused face towels. I go for the amenities, and then I just decide to work out because I’m already there.

Lena Fleischmann: Lots of amenities (pool, basketball court, steam room, sauna, soulcyle bikes...), good customer service, they constantly make improvements by adding products in the changing rooms like razors, hair ties, curling irons etc. What I don't like about it (apart from the price obviously): it's pretty much packed no matter what time you go which is annoying - wish they had a gadget in the app that would tell you how busy it is beforehand. Also, showers aren't always very clean.

Izabella Ritz: The club has a pool with saltwater which is very convenient, covid safety is great, the thing why I didn't join is no natural lights in a building, which is very important for me personally.

Based on the reviews here, I’m not surprised I received this type of experience. I guess I’ll be looking elsewhere. I just wanted a nearby pool 🏊‍♀️

Ebony Williams: Do not work at equinox if you have living situation or just a situation period the manger Duane don’t care if you have living situation problems he even told one of the employees that mid shift is childish because we all going through something sorry if you hired people who have living situation or who gave problems and be careful of the Towels and hand towels they wash them in hot water only no solution that why the towels look a little dirty Yess I use to work their and got fired because I was trying to find a place to stay the days I called out because I was homeless the cleaning manger is horrible at his job and HR needs to send a Secret Santana to see how they clean the place

George Janini: I never stepped a foot in their Gyms since February 2020, but they periodically sneak charges on my credit card, even after I asked by email to freeze my account and they agreed to this by email. I give a one star because there is no option for zero stars.

Sándor Szabó: This company charged my credit card without my consent! I have not heard from them and I certainly did not give consent to this company to use my credit card to any purposes and charges. They cannot be reached via the phone as their phone service option is hideous and gives virtually no clue about how to speak with a live person or who to turn to for questions / concerns. They do not provide any valid channels for proper communication. Beware.

Jilli Andrea: Critical: ProfessionalismThey over charged me three times then has the audacity to try and tell me their one of the charges is an overdue balance in my account !! Appalled at this HOPE person who sent me an email! My own credit union and THEIR own facility confirmed the extra charges ! I left planet fitness for this ??

Irina Koshelkova: have the same problem with customer support. I requested membership cancellation by email on October 14th and have written confirmation that they received my request. On November 1st they tried to charge my credit card again but I closed it prior as I knew it will happen. Now they are saying that I have an outstanding balance. I tried to call them several times. No answer. Very poor customer support.

Kimberley Loftis: Good gyms ( like onelife) until you have to do anything with the corporate office or account change. I called multiple times asking to change the status of my account. Customer service said it was fix, but they still charge me.

Mariangela Santos: Critical: Qualitythis place have been charging my card without my consent, I've never had heard about it until money started to be withdrawn from my bank account. I call them and they don't pick up the phone.

Jornileyah Mccornell: I have never visited this place or know ANYTHING about them. So I am not sure how they got my card info! Please dispute this with your bank. Let your bank know that other people experience this problem.
