And they did it while we were absent; living and working in Africa. We followed their lead as they represented us getting building permits from the DC government. As 4 Brothers developed floorplans we received clear drawings and options to choose from via Internet and worked with them to fine tune the plan. As it came time to select materials we had a few preferences that 4 Brothers acted upon and in other cases, 4 Brothers provided us good options from which to choose. Communications flowed extremely well between DC and Africa. Throughout the project we trusted their recommendations on layout, materials, changes, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, flooring and a significant soundproofing effort. We were thrilled with the results. With Alfred as lead on construction, Tamar overseeing details of interior finishes and Ben as our interface, 4 Brothers employees and teams of high quality sub-contractors worked with small spaces, difficult access, challenging aspects of the original building design, and even cranky neighbors, to ensure that our condo would be ready for occupancy when we returned from Africa. Each of the Four Brothers team members made us feel that our job was their most important. As we worked together by email and phone calls to make final decisions on infrastructure and finishing, and to accommodate our desire for some unique features such as an acacia wood bar that we shipped from Africa (a later challenge for Alfred and Phil to install). 4 Brothers excellent design and craftsmanship was accompanied by good documentation, honest assessments, and cost estimates that did not grow. Sarah Markenson-Bussel: The Zen team renovated a bathroom that had very old plumbing and a few hidden conditions (a rotted joist) that are common in older DC homes. The communication about design choices, project schedule and required change orders was clear and timely. I work from home and have a toddler so they kept the house very clean throughout demo and construction. Most importantly, the quality of work is impressive and it is evident that each team member takes pride in their work and enjoys what they do. Gary Langbaum: Our kitchen designer was Sarah Turner and she was a pleasure to deal with and she did a fantastic job. She offered us a truly unique idea which made our kitchen larger than we believed possible and gave us much more storage space than expected. She suggested a waterfall table at the end of an island, which enables us to seat 3 for meals and extended the work area when necessary. In a different but complimentary stone, the island is a conversation piece. From the floor to ceiling, everything chosen was perfect. Her suggested general contractor was a pleasure to deal with and took care of everything. Despite timing issues working at a condo, he was able to have the job done on time and we moved in on the date we had projected. We would highly recommend Sarah for anyone wishing to have a non traditional approach to redesigning a kitchen.

The workers always cleaned up the house each evening when they were finished for the day. The company also was very quick to come by and supervise the work being done. Any minor changes were quickly handled by the supervisor. When we asked them to change some outlets for us that were not specifically in the contract, they quickly agreed. We are completely satisfied with the work that Bath Plus did on our kitchen. We are looking forward to getting a couple half-baths remodeled in the future and we will only call Bath Plus Kitchen Design Remodel to do the work. Catherine Francoeur: First, let me start by saying that we are extremely pleased with the end result of the kitchen renovation. My designer, Catherine, created a great space to my specifications which was not easy as we were more aware of what we did not like versus what we liked. The project manager, Adem, was professional and kept to the time table. Luis, the head contractor was also very good and his crews were excellent. We were particularly impressed on how tidy they left the work space every day and the quality of their work. Our one small complaint is the lack of communication we experienced. Catherine often promised getting back to us within a day and we did not hear from her for weeks. The progress of the work could have been explained more clearly to us (this was our first renovation ever so did not know what to expect at all): a weekly email would alleviate a lot of the questions we asked. The renovation of a kitchen is no easy project as it is so disruptive to the day-to-day running of a home but we feel that KBR Kitchen accomplished the renovation in a timely manner and we just love how it looks. We highly recommend them.

Stuart Hoyt: We just finished remodeling our two master baths. One was a complete remodel down to the studs, reconfiguring, and rebuilding. The other was more modest where the original footprint remained intact. We were not sure exactly what we wanted, and we worked with KBR Designer Silviya to design a bathroom that we now love. She was more than patient as she guided us through the seemingly endless options including basic design and selection of materials. John Weiss: We spent a few years thinking about renovating two full baths and a powder room in our 100-year old house but did nothing until we finally decided that Case Design was the company we wanted to work with and initiated the project in early 2019. Two things became apparent as we progressed through the detailed design stage and then on to construction. One was the professionalism and competence of the Case people involved and the other was the pleasantness of working with them in their offices and in our home. Mike O’Hearn and Melissa Binderman, the Project Developer and Designer, were knowledgeable and experienced in presenting ideas, reacting to our desires, and executing a final plan. Their patience as we sometimes changed our minds about decisions that had been previously made was appreciated, as was their willingness to keep modifying what we wanted based on seeing results in our house rather than in a showroom. Loren Sanders, the Project Manager has been attentive and thorough in keeping us posted on the construction process and schedule. The star of the show, however, is Bill Shaw, who has done most of the construction work. Not only is what he does of the highest professional quality, he has been in our house steadily for two months and instead of an imposition, it has been a pleasurable experience. He explains everything he is doing and gives us the opportunity to customize items like where towel racks go and what height the shower should be. One of the prime benefits for us of this project turned out to be not the new, modern appliances updating our old baths, but the underneath replacement of floors, ceilings, walls, water pipes, insulation, and electric wiring. We’ve essentially rebuilt a major portion of our house. In doing major construction alteration, Case took great care in eliminating dust using suction machines and in protecting the parts of the house outside the renovation area. We bought a room air scrubber for our bedroom as a precaution. It indicates when the air is bad, and it has almost never found anything other than clean air. We highly recommend Case for home renovation projects.

Edy Jackson: Mega completed two separate jobs for me at my home. The first was a complete remodel of the first level of my home where everything was completely redone including hardwood floors, cabinets and countertops and knocking down walls to reconfigure my kitchen. Jason Richards: We worked with Dulles Kitchen and Bath on two separate projects on our 1970s townhome, a major remodel of the master bathroom and later for the powder room. Johan and Matt were the initial consultants for the two projects, and Matt was the project manager on both. They, as well as the two teams doing the day-to-day work, were great from consultation to completion of the project. My experience with most contractors in this area have ranged between bad and worse, between lack of timeliness, shoddy workmanship, low quality materials, and taking advantage on pricing by nickel-and-diming on every miniscule thing they find. I can safely say that working with Dulles Kitchen and Bath was the exact opposite of all those experiences. While no project is perfect, they worked with us to quickly resolve the inevitable issues that come up. They have a great selection of materials and customization for remodeling, Matt was on-site every day to make sure everything was going smoothly, the pricing is fair, and they are willing to work cooperatively with you from beginning to end to make sure you are happy with the final product. Zaimah Khan: Mayflower construction completed a master bath renovation for us and it turned out fantastic. First the company is really easy to work with. We opted to go through the design process because we were making a big change by removing the tub and needed some help in figuring out how to relocate shower etc. They took our ideas and created a great design- offering valuable suggestions all along. Material selection at their showroom was super easy. As for the work itself, they do a great job. The crew is very courteous and takes great care in cleaning up and keeping things secure along the pathway to the project. Tom Robertson: Nicole and Alex from Mayflower gained our trust from the beginning as we contemplated the changes we wanted to make with our kitchen. Nicole has a flair for design; Alex knows how to get the job done. Their knowledge of the Rotonda and its structure meant they knew what could work and what couldn’t, and they saved us the headaches of getting permits and approvals from the Rotonda front office. They understood our budget was limited. They advised us where we could save money by using a flooring contractor to put in oakwood floors and made clear as we thought over changes what the costs for each would be. Covid complicated our decisions. Alex and Nicole alerted us to possible delays that we might face due to supply backlogs. Their implementation team was excellent, polite and helpful throughout, working with us to find solutions to small problems as they came up. Despite some Covid delays, the work was completed in a reasonable 5-6 weeks, and they took care of all minor fixes shortly thereafter. All in all, an amazingly pleasant experience!

Jade Rubino: Great communication and incredible results. We hired Mayflower to complete a kitchen and living room renovation. Beginning with the design process and throughout construction, we appreciated that there was constant communication, and they were up front about scheduling and pricing. There were no surprises throughout the entire project. If we had a concern, they would let us know and resolve it before we even had the chance to be worried about it. They managed to squeeze us into a tight window just before Christmas and despite supply delays outside of their control, they finished the project on time. Glenn Sewell: When my wife and I moved into our home in early 2014, we knew that the first major renovation project we’d need to tackle was a complete overhaul of the kitchen. As is typical of 1960s Del Ray duplex homes, the original galley kitchen was tiny with very little cabinet storage and counter space. While we didn’t take care of the problem immediately, over the years as our family grew, the kitchen became a great source of stress as we were bursting at the seams with food and various small appliances littered everywhere because we’d run out of storage space to hide them. It was time for a change. Enter Mayflower Construction. We chose Mayflower over a few other local companies because of the immediate comfort and care we felt after meeting Nicole, our design consultant, for the very first time. My wife and I do not have a designer’s eye nor any sort of “DIY” sensibilities when it comes to house projects, so we knew we’d need a company that took care of pretty much every step from design to final construction. Nicole listened intently to everything we hoped to accomplish with the new kitchen, presented us with a perfect design, and expertly guided us through every decision we needed to make throughout the process. Our wishes were always at the forefront and everything was handled with care, precision, and punctuality, all while coming in under our original budget. The construction team was equally impressive. •Marc •Williams: I will start my review of my experience with Mayflower Construction Group with the bottom line up front: Hire this team! I repeat, hire this team. I choice Mayflower to do a complete renovation (included partially taking down a wall and relocating the sink) after speaking with several companies. After meeting with Nicole and Alex at their showroom, I knew they would be the one. This was even before I received their quote. I just had a good feeling about them. Most of the companies you will be considering could probably get the 90% of a job correct. What you are hoping to find is the company that takes pride in overachieving that last 10%. That is where Mayflower excels in my opinion. Here just a few examples: at no extra charge, they painted the celling in the adjacent rooms because the freshly painted kitchen ceiling would not blend. As I mentioned, we had a wall partially taken down and obviously, the movement of electrical and such would require some touch up painting. This was something I was planning to do, but Mayflower asked us what color we were planning to use, and painted not only the walls near the kitchen, but the entire hallway. There were also pleasant surprises like the lights Mayflower put under the cabinets. Additionally, dressing up the sides of the cabinets so they would not look plain. During the design phase, Nicole suggested a great sink that we love. Alex suggestion for the window was spot on. I love how that turned out. These are just a few examples of how Mayflower goes the extra mile. They were in my home for about a month. Their team took great care to ensure the daily work was contained to the work area while the rest of the house saw no impact. We have a 15-month child and the Mayflower team ensured the kiddie gate was always closed. At the end of each day, the area was left cleaned and no dangerous tools or other items were left around. Again, with the small child in the house, that was important to us. The result exceeded our expectations. Mayflower turned our vision into reality. I joked to Alex that my new kitchen does not belong in this house. It is way too beautiful! Mayflower can do the same for you.

Adam Felton: We had a full Master Bath remodel, down to the studs… we decided on KBR after having three contractors out to bid on the project. KBR was not the cheapest by far but they were very dedicated to providing quality service and making sure they incorporated all our concerns and most of our ideas into their design while staying within our budget. Once we decided on KBR, we were delight to find that we had both a Project Manager (David) and a Forman onsite. This was a huge bonus for us as we had previously had a kitchen renovation with a different company and had neither. That’s another story… back to KBR, great job, kept us in the loop on everything in terms of the schedule and progress. David, our PM was fantastic and on point, always addressed our questions and concerns quickly, even when we would text on the weekend with a question. The bottom line is that KBR and David, our PM did a fantastic job, finished our master bath and my wife and are very pleased; in fact we wish they had done our kitchen… Oh, our designer, Sylvia, also super talented..... Joy Rivera: It was our first time to have something remodeled in our 29 yr old house. We started with the Hall and Masterbath renovations. We shopped around and chose KBR. Our designer Memo was friendly, knowledgeable and listened to my vision. He tried to incorporate as much as he can from my wish list within my budget. I will work with Memo again in future renovations, probably kitchen. Project started 3 months after we signed the contract because of supply chain and delivery issues as we were doing Reno during pandemic and while I am still working from home. Our assigned project manager Jason was very attentive throughout the construction process and the crew were excellent. Kevin Retherford: KBR recently renovated our master bathroom. They were fantastic from start to finish. They were very responsive from the beginning, scheduling site and design visits in very reasonable timeframes. The design phase went smoothly, the work started on time, and the work was completed way ahead of schedule. The project management team was always available and responded to all our needs, and the construction crew was polite, professional, and very skilled in their craft. The finished product looks amazing and we are very pleased with the results. I do want to mention that there was a leak issue once the bathroom was cleared for use, the day after the final walkthrough. While these types of issues can be stressful after a large renovation project, it is worth noting that KBR came back immediately, identified the issue, fixed the problem, and even patched the ceiling where the leak had caused water damage. The entire issue started around 8:00PM and was completely resolved by around 10:00 the next morning. I only mention it to highlight the fact that, even when things don’t go according to plan, KBR took full responsibility for the issue and fixed the problem in as timely a manner as any reasonable person can expect. I will be reaching out to KBR for any future kitchen and bath needs, and I highly recommend them to others for the same. Service: Remodeling

Elle Elston: My bathroom remodel turned out beautifully and only $100.00 over budget. I must compliment the technicians and all the staff at KBR in Fairfax. For my 1st major remodel the process was surprisingly easy without any major issues. So, if I was grading out of 10 stars I would give 9 ½, as there was a slight communication probably in the middle of the remodel. Over all everyone was friendly, experienced, and the designer walked me through choosing the fixtures, tiles, and products for the bathroom. The finished product was absolutely beautiful, and I would choose and recommend KBR 100% for future projects. Pappi _: Worked with KBR Kitchen Bath and Remodeling (Fairfax) to explore options to remodel old kitchen and dining room. Existing kitchen was small with limited storage space and light. Belle Yucel (KBR Designer) used on site visit and discussions with us to come up with a beautiful solution. Materials were ordered and work crew showed up every day as expected and completed the remodel job in minimum time. The crew cleaned up the work site every day. Unforeseen issues were discussed and addressed via change orders. We are totally happy with KBR and would choose them again for future work. If you are looking for a high quality job by a local small business - choose KBR! The designer and crew were really artisans! Description of work: Complete kitchen and dining room design, demo and remodel. Installed new lighting, cabinets, countertops, porcelain tile floor and SS appliances (Owner purchased). Electric service upgraded to meet code. Removed non-load bearing wall to open up space. Moved stove and installed exhaust vent to outside. New design allowed for larger refrigerator and pennisula island with counter seats.
