The Dance Institute of Washington: what do users think?

Cheri Mallory: We have had a wonderful experience with DIW's Autism Acceptance Events.

Angela Ingram: Excellent Dance Training and excellent community for dances to train. DIW cares deeply for their students, faculty and staff.

Daisy Fischer: Positive: ProfessionalismMy Grandson participated in the virtual Theater Workshop on October 3rd, 2020, and he had so much fun. The ladies of Teatro La Bolsa did an excellent job of keeping the students engaged while they provided education in language, culture, dance and geography. Thank you.

Cassie Quick: I don't recommend this school as they are really unorganized. It takes weeks to follow up with parents about questions or concerns. It's pretty ridiculous. I recommend they hire additional help.
Response: Hello, Ms Quick. We are sorry to learn about your experience. As a non for profit organization our number one priority is to have the best positive impact in our youth. Of course we can’t do this without the support of parents and guardians and we apologize for the inconvenience. We would like to share that during the summer of 2019 DIW experienced multiple staff transitions and also began exciting renovation in which we are adding a new studio and student lab to our state of the art building. Although no excuse, please consider these major occurrences as a reason to why our line of communication failed you. Again, we apologize and hope you reconsider our school in the future as we have major exciting changes and upgrades in process. All best!

Zahra Carpenter: Very good quality of dance classes. Although the founder passed away, it is in the staff and teachers heart to carrying on his legacy. Cannot wait what is next for DIW!

Star Clark: I take lessons here sometimes. It's wonderful and cheap. Say hello to Lettie and Mara. Great instructors!

Noelle Hoerrner: I love to dance and the young dancers out there in Washington D.C. I think they have an opetunity here!

claudia Moreno: If it was possible to give less than one star i would. this place is beyond unprofessional and you will get tossed around from person to person trying to get basic information. horrible. horrible. absolutely horrible. customer service is absurd.

Cheryle Crawford: Great teacher for younger " bun heads", continues to use ZOOM classes effectively.

Peter Perkins: Interested in developing skills I'll highly recommend attending The Dance Institute of Washington also I much say many opportunities are available.

DivaDance® DC: what do users think?

Chantale love: Before I join diva dance I was working on my confidence and I most say I’m a whole new women after joining. I learn different dance moves and met a lot of good people. I am having an amazing experience.
Response: Omg Chantale!! Thank you so much for this, we're so happy to hear the positive impact our classes have had on you!

Dana Frund: Since moving to DC last year, joining DivaDance has been one of the best decisions I have made! I love the community feel, and all the instructors and members are so sweet and fun! If you’re looking to make friends, join a community, build confidence, or dance your worries away, this is the perfect place!
Response: Thank you so much for this review Dana! We LOVE having you in the community!

April Tran: So happy I joined this community. Everyone is so kind and every dance is well instructed. Definitely recommend if you're looking to build your confidence and relieve some stress with dancing!
Response: Thank you April for sharing what our classes have done for ya!

Whitney Franklin: DivaDance DC has been and AMAZING EXPERIENCE! The instructors, the culture, the support, the COMMUNITY! DivaDance has definitely helped me boost my confidence as a human being, woman, and dancer! I am grateful for DivaDance DC and look forward to future classes!!!
Response: Whitney thank you soooo much! We loveeeee having you in classes.

Melodi McSweeney: I've loved every class I've taken with Diva Dance. I did the 10 week dance course in fall 2019 and absolutely loved every minute of it. I met wonderful people who I am still in touch with. I also had my bachelorette party with Diva Dance and would do it all again in a heart beat. The culture at Diva Dance is to have fun and build confidence, so there is never any critiquing and the environment stays comfortable. The dances are also very diverse, so you can get a little bit of anything you like. I can go on, but in short, I can't wait until the pandemic is over so I can go back to dancing with Diva Dance.
Response: Melodi we have loved having you in the community! Thank you for the positive review!

Breanne Stockslager: I have nothing but great things to say about my experience with DivaDance! My group did a Beyonce themed "sip and slay" class for a Bachelorette party and had a fantastic time. I would highly recommend DivaDance to anyone who wants to hold a party, event, or even just to go for a fun cardio workout! The package that we purchased came with champagne and fun decorations as well as the instructor emailing us our very own music video which is a pretty fun memory to have for a bachelorette party! The choreography is tailored to whatever level of skill your group has, ours was definitely beginner! LOL. Highly recommend!
Response: Yay Breanne! Thank you so much for this review. We LOVED partying with your group!

THAT EWE GAL: I love it !! Great teachers, great energy, amazing choreographies ! Highly recommended
Response: We love you too! Thank you so much!

Cheryl Somers: It looked like a nice place only went in to check it out
Response: Thanks Cheryl! Come back!

Cheryl Somers: Seemed like a nice place only there for a few minutes
Response: Thanks Cheryl! Hope to see you again soon!

CityDance - Friendship Heights | Washington, DC: what do users think?

Bronwyn Clark: I enrolled my two daughters in a week long summer camp, and was delighted to see the performance at the end of the week! Students learned a choreographed piece in ballet, jazz, hip hop, African, and modern dance, and students of different skill levels were all able to demonstrate very impressive skills and confidence after only five days. Each day my daughters were excited to share what they'd learned, and looked forward to the next day. It was a creative, expressive, safe place to learn. Ivy and Sabrina were excellent instructors and accommodating of student's unique needs. We will certainly return for additional classes/camps.

Kathleen S.: My first-grade daughter has enjoyed her beginning ballet classes at Citydance POP. The instructors are wonderful at connecting with the young dancers. I’ve also attended an adult workshop, which was a great as well.

Doug Hartley: The organizers do an outstanding job of teaching dance to all children in the DC area

Rebecca Unruh: Fantastic dance studio with amazing teachers. My daughter loves it!

District Groove: what do users think?

Tanuja Paruchuri: These dance classes are great! Amina and her instructors are really friendly and you end up making friends in the class. Amina teaches the beginner class which is great because it can even teach the most clumsy dancers (like me) how to be good! i even went on to level 2 with stetson which was definitely more challenging and a great workout! with the discounts, the prices are extremely competitive and i think it's worth the investment.
Response: Thank you so much for the review Tanuja! Currently Stetson doesnt teach there anymore. Now Amina and her assistant teachers teach beginners to intermediate levels.

tommie adams: I have taken one class in the past with Amina and back to seek her help for a piece with some guys from my chorus for an dance art piece we wanted to do for a talent show. And though myself and many of the guys we're not professional dancers and a little nervous, she and her wonderful assistant Kiara, made us feel very comfortable. They were able to break down the dance steps to something manageable yet professional for our group as well as being able to build up our confidence in just 2 meetings. She and her team have the ability to teach you dance in a fun way whether you're a dancer or not and just have a great time. Best of all once we performed the piece not only did we get a standing ovation for our performance, they have asked to do it again for a concert in the future. Many thanks to the amazing Amina to getting us to place of success and accomplishment. I'll be back!
Response: I'm so proud of you all that you WON the talent show!! 🤗 Thank you so much for the compliments and the review! 😊💕

Sam sr Shin: I started taking private lessons from Amina and her assistant teacher David a couple of months ago. They really take the time and patience to show me how to perfect each of the moves they teach me. I have already improved greatly and have gotten compliments on my dancing from club events I have attended. I definitely recommend District Groove for anyone wanting to or learning to dance!
Response: Thank you so much! We love having you!

James Hillis: A bunch of us from the Gay Men's Chorus Washington found Amina (District Groove's primary teacher) to help us with a talent show act for the chorus' yearly bonding retreat. Amina SLAYED! I cannot fully describe how brilliant she was as a teacher in every respect. The way she made us comfortable. The way she made it fun. The ingenious way she broke down moves that made them easy! I can't say enough good things about her. And - We WON that talent show. With a lot of talent in our chorus. It was so fun and exciting for all of us. And it's due to our work with Amina that we were able to put on something we were truly proud of. Thank you to District Groove!!!
Response: Thank you so much! You and your friends were such a pleasure to teach and work with!

alden mackie: My wife and I started out with a single private session with Amina and now I'm halfway through the men's hip hop dance class. The classes are so much fun and Amina is such a charismatic and fun instructor. Amina helps you feel really comfortable (the primary concern on the dance floor for nearly every guy in class) but doesn't let you get away with less-than-great body form on the various moves being taught. My confidence in dancing has already skyrocketed and I've received several compliments about my dancing while out on the town.
Response: Thank you so much!

J Gor: We hired Amina to choreograph our first dance for our wedding and she was so fun to work with! She turned our crazy ideas into a great dance that we both love. Our idea was to start with a slow/romantic Taylor Swift song and then switch to a bhangra/hip hop song, so not an easy feat to make that work. Amina is personable, works with your strengths (and weaknesses), and helped us to come out of ours shells. We are looking forward to showing off at our wedding what we learned from Amina!
Response: Thank you so much! :) Loved working with you!

GWASH UNIVERSE: My experience exceeded my expectations. Amina was well prepared and made the dancing and learning experience fun. Her, along with her assistant David were great teachers. I’m excited to learn more steps in the future.
Response: Thank you so much! You are such a pleasure to teach! :)

MyJelleo: Amina was able to help me overcome my fear of dancing. This was something I thought no one would be able to accomplish, but thanks to her and her class, I'm able to go to the club and not be that guy standing in the corner or sitting down sipping on a drink. The class has a very friendly atmosphere and everyone works together to become better. I've taken the class twice and something new is learned every time. I cannot recommend Amina enough.
Response: Thank you so much Dennis! Loved having you in class and hope to see you back again soon! :)

Danielle Adamson: District Groove is such an amazing dance studio. I absolutely loved the first class and look forward to taking many more! District Groove's manager and dance instructor, Amina Vohra fosters such a fun, comfortable, and supportive environment for all of the dancers in her class regardless of their experience or skill. If you want to learn the latest dance moves, meet new friends, get a great workout, and have a blast all at the same time, look no further than District Groove!
Response: Thank you so much! Loved having you in class! :)

Zaria Qadafi: I LOVE my District Grove family! When I'm in class with them, it's like a home away from home. The vibe is so warm and Amina gives us what we want: fun, but challenging classes. My favorites are the Beyonce choreo classes without a doubt!
Response: Thank you so much! Love having you in class! :)

Dance Place: what do users think?

Ryan Delcher: Positive: Communication, ProfessionalismThe Dance Place Studio team is awesome to work with! I worked with Sarah G at Dance Place for a special event they hosted. She was friendly, professional, and a great communicator! Highly recommend this Studio and their team!

Kelly Paras: I came here for their Sunday evening performance and had a blast! However, I wasn't quite prepared for the drink situation...they sell glasses of wine, but you can't take it into the theater area unless you purchase an adult sippy cup (literally a plastic cup with a sippy lid on it) for an additional $5. It was weird and hilarious and I'm saving the cup for next time! The only negative about the experience was that the theater itself got really warm during the performance - everyone was sweating!
Response: Hey Kelly! Thanks so much for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed our fun travels mugs -- all the cool theaters are doing it. ;) Sorry it got toasty in the theater! We'll be sure to take a look at that for next time.

Janine Hightower: The variety of performances that pass through this place is mind-blowing 🤯! A cultural experience for all. Many of the performances offer audience participation/interaction. Tickets are reasonably priced, nice variety of snacks. Also you can often meet performance members after show! Clean bathrooms, friendly and organized staff. Be prepared to give written feedback...😉

dipika: Dance Place is one of my favorite establishments in DC, period. Their site schedule is diverse and offers something for everyone and they really focus on local talent which is special. The classes are also great, quite varied, and the space is good for beginning and intermediate class.
Response: Thank you so much for this amazing review!

Momma Boots: Dance place is awesome. Can't wait to come back in the spring. Miss Princess is the best teacher ever, our child had such a great time. We thank you so much Miss Princess.

Sydney Thom: The drop in adult dance classes are a great price and the modern class was of great quality. Dance Place offers the least expensive adult drop-in dance classes I've seen in the DC/MD/VA area. The class was really fun and challenging for all ability levels and taught by Rebecca Weiss, a substitute teacher for the class. This was my first class so I can't speak toward the regular flow of class with the normal teacher, but if it was anything like the class I attended then it's probably a class I'd recommend taking. I've danced for ~10yrs when I was younger and now about 10 years later I'm in my mid-20s and trying to pick things back up again:) This class was a great class to be in as an almost newbie to adult dance.

ife felix: Delicious!!! I took an African Dance class on May 3 at 1:45 with Sylvia and had the best time ever. The class was great. I live in New York City and take three sometimes fours classes a week and they, the classes in NY could not compare for energy. The other dancers were positive and the Sylvia one of the best. Whenever I'm in DC I will be dropping in. Thank you DancePlace.

Daniel Burkholder: Dance Place is the premier performance space for dance in the DC region with performances almost every weekend ranging from Modern to Post-Modern, World Dances to Performance Art. Highlights include annual Dance Africa, DC festival as well as its complete season of regional, national and international artists. Dance Place also offers a range of classes for adults and youth from beginning to professional. A great place!

Kate Christopherson: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, ValueGreat communication and fantastic customer service provided by Ava. I truly enjoy their professionalism and responsiveness.

Dan W: I went here for a comedy show. What a joke (and I don't mean that in a good way). The theater is fine, but the staff takes far too many liberties in trying to join the show. The staff joined in the audience to fill seats and constantly interrupted the comedian. Tried to join in the act far too many times and I had to walk out. Hint: do not go to this "Dance Place" for a comedy show as much as they advertise it!

C-Unit Studio LLC: what do users think?

Andrea Collazo: Amazing dance studio!!! My daughter loves dancing there and is so excited to go every single time. She started when she was 4 and each year she adds a class. She has loved every class and teacher. They are highly talented and engaging. The recitals are amazing and the girls are so proud to be in it. The camp is great too, my daughter begs to go to every session available. As a bonus she has made great friends too.

Shelly Bagdasian: Our daughter started at C Unit in third grade and continued through her senior year in high school. I cannot put into one review how wonderful the experience was. After one hip hop class my daughter was begging to take more classes and eventually ended up on the team. The teachers were all amazing, the dances were creative and fun and the incredible recital at the end of each year cannot be found anywhere in this area. We watched our daughter become a beautiful dancer. The best part was not just the art of dance she was learning, but the community of dancers and teachers that became like family. C Unit was a huge positive influence in her life, instilling confidence, discipline, and the knowledge that hard work pays off. All qualities that she will take with her for life. We highly recommend C Unit whether your kids are looking for a fun hip hop class or a life long team to belong to and grow up with!!

Jackie Ehrlich: My girls have found a place to blossom! Great instruction and even better community! they have classes in all forms of dance with varying instructors who know every child by name and give them each the individualized attention they need.

wendy eaton: my daughter loves c-unit!! i highly highly highly recommended it for anyone who wants to get in to dance. amazing teachers, dances and and an amazing experience!!

Marianna Ashin: Love everything about this studio! My girls love coming to class and could dance all day every day if I let them! Thank you for being so amazing!

Sydney Sims: My home away from home, great dance instruction, so much fun, everyone should sign up, it is a great place !

Karyn Ross: My daughter is so happy at C-Unit. It is the best place to dance in the area.

Olivia Van de Kamp: Leaving a 9 year old child by themselves because the parent is late is never right. There are better ways to deal with situations such as that.

Pia Bacolod: Positive: CommunicationMy little girl just started a week long summer camp here and had the best first day ever! She raved on and on about how much fun she had. They've got a great Director there that was very responsive to my questions as well. I love the organic fruit they offer the kids afire snacks. Nice, clean, well ran studio for the little ones.
Response: Thank you for the lovely review, Pia! We are so glad that your dancer is enjoying camp!

Austin Graff: Our three-year-old daughter LOVES Studio One Dance. For $80 a month, we attend weekly dance classes on Saturdays from 10:15-11am (the perfect amount of time to learn dance and hold a toddler's attention span). It's a small studio space on the Hill near some great places like Little Pearl and Emilie's. The front room has cubbies for your stuff and the backroom is the large dance studio with a restroom in the way back. The instructors are kind and great teachers. Our class starts with introductions, reading a book, and then doing some ballet routines in a way that's engaging to toddlers. Our toddler is engaged the entire time and looks forward to going back the next week.
Response: Hi Austin! Thank you for your kind review. We are so happy that you are enjoying classes at Studio One!

Sarah Close: We came in for a dance lesson three weeks before our wedding without any clue and wanting a few tips for our first dance. Victor very quickly helped us pick out a dance and tailored his instruction to the ways that we both learn best (impressive, considering he had just met us!). Victor taught us in a very humorous and compassionate manner that made the entire experience fun. He also provided a number of helpful tips and reminders for our wedding day, beyond just the first dance, that really helped us stay calm and focused. We would highly recommend ALL2DANCE to anyone, whether or not they have a wedding to prepare for- it was a great experience!

Olivia Davis: My husband and I began taking private dance lessons with Ann at ALL2Dance several months before our wedding and loved every minute of them. We came out of our lessons feeling very confident about our rumba skills for our 'first dance' (no choreography needed!) and felt that this was generally such a fun and different way to spend time together. We'll definitely be continuing our lessons with them beyond the wedding!

scottskywalker21: Had a quick lesson before my wedding in a week! Never danced before in my life, but Vic was a true professional. He's probably the best couch or instructor I've ever had in my life, and I can tell that he really loves to teach. He makes learning to dance easy, even for someone with two left feet(me). Excellent instructor, hands down!!

Michael Koppes: Victor was a terrific instructor. He told us he would get us there and he did. My wife and I found our weekly dance classes a great stress relief while planning our wedding!

DanceSport Dupont Circle: what do users think?

Jason Janke: We found Terry with only one month until our wedding day, and over just a few classes he worked with us to choreograph an elegant, yet achievable first dance for us (we came in with no prior experience). We even changed songs after our first lesson, and he was able to quickly change the style of dance to better match the different pace of song. We had fun with the resulting dance, which impressed our guests and brought out some tears. The space could occasionally get crowded with other classes going on, but it was never an issue. We were happy with everything, and enjoyed our time learning/practicing.

Adam Abramson: Terry is very knowledgeable and has good tips. It’s a fun class that I’ll definitely use at my wedding. My only gripe is that if there’s other classes going on, he’s really soft spoken so it’s hard to hear. Would recommend though! Especially if you want a choreographed dance.

Sharon Williams: Love Earl! He is a great instructor! Also love the salsa club he took us to to apply what we have learned. Looking forward to the next class!

Sam Young: Terry was great however it was very difficult to hear with two other classes happening simultaneously in the same room with their own music.

Sarah Pearce: Terry choreographed our first dance for our wedding this past November and our guests loved it! It was one of the highlights of our reception. We never anticipated that our guests would be cheering for us! Neither one of us have taken lessons in the past, so we were anxious going into our first lesson. But Terry made us feel very comfortable and was very patient with us. He's very creative and provided a few options/moves for us to use based on what we preferred. We loved going home to practice - it was such a fun experience during the high-stress time of planning the rest of the wedding. I highly recommend!

Alessandro Ghidini: I have attended DanceSport Dupont Circle for the past 2 years. The dance area is spacious and divided by mirror screens to allow concurrent classes. I have taken ballroom lessons with Terry Chasteen with a focus on International style. Terry is the most patient and competent instructor one can desire. His own experience as competitor and judge at national and international competitions makes him perfectly suited to train and prepare a couple for the world of competitions. I was thus able to compete at a few National and one international competitions. It was a fantastic experience and Terry was there until the end to support me and my partner in our endeavor. I have also observed Terry interacting with couples who want to prepare for wedding events, and he is excellent at putting together a choreography that suits the music chosen by the bride (either for the dance with the groom or with the bride's father), as well as their dancing skills. You will not regret your decision to start dancing at DanceSport Dupont Circle!

Elsa Peraldi: Luca was our teacher for our wedding dance. He was great!!! Not only did he worked with us to have a great choreography, but he was also super patient with us and help us navigate the process at times when we would be stressed. He is really flexible and works with you to find a time that works for you. Couldn't recommend more!

Louis L.: OMG, Terry is adorable. Clearly, he eats, sleeps and breathes everything related to dancing. I have known him to dance with students late into the evening--perhaps having a power snack in between--but never skipping a beat! He is patient and accommodating. My dance partner and I won 3 silver medals after Terry choreographed four fantastic Latin dance routines in preparation for our dance competition in 2018. I am forever grateful to Terry for his training.

Jonathan Dickinson: We arrived 10 minutes early, and then waited 15 minutes after our appointment time. The instructor ignored us for the couple ahead of us. We planned our day and evening around this lesson.

John Farr: Great job of teaching the first dance wedding basics

Wheaton Studio of Dance: what do users think?

Rebecca Smith: My daughter has been at Wheaton Studio of Dance since she was 3 years old she is 9 now. Wheaton Studio of Dance is her happy place. She has learned and grown as a dancer so much and made great friends. The teachers are wonderful. I love seeing all the creative dances that they come up with every year and the beautiful costumes they choose for the classes. The show in June is always so fun to see how they learn and grow. If your child loves to dance they will love Wheaton Studio of Dance.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! We appreciate you and your family so much! We are so thrilled to be able to provide a happy space for her to grow and learn. This is why we do what we do!! Can't wait to work with you both for another 6+ years!!!

Tu- Van Lambert: Great dance studio for starting my daughter's early dance career. My daughter has taken the beginning and experienced combination classes here, which includes both tap and ballet. I appreciate how the instructor comes out after class to give announcents and very brief feedback to parents waiting outside class. I love the energy and enthusiasm Ms. Shannon has in her classes and her interaction with the parents. I especially appreciate their recital program. Some studios go overboard with the costume and photo fees, but this studio provides reasonable requests for additional fees and rehearsal times. Recitals are a great performance opportunity for my daughter, which suits her personality well and a great way to showcase the hard work she has put through the year in her classes. Of course my daughter loves the class and always talks about her teachers, helpers, and classmates. When I see her put on her dance shoes and dance around the house, I can tell with her movements that she has great instruction. Very glad that we have this studio to support her performance pursuits.
Response: Thank you for your review! Please feel free to reach out to Amanda with any feedback about how we can improve your experience with us.

Kate Johnson: Our family loves this studio! My daughter started dancing competitively this year, and we have had nothing but positive experiences. There is an overwhelming attitude of support from all of the teachers, the parents, and all of the dancers. My daughter is one of the younger kids, and the older kids are so kind and supportive that it warms my heart!
Response: Thank you so much for your review! We are so glad to hear that you and your family are having such a positive experience. We are so excited to have your dancer in company this year and are so proud of her, her team, and all our dancers!

Natasha Tagendye: Wheaton Studio is an amazing caring and loving studio! Everybody there supports what you do and will take there time to teach your kids ro become a better dancer. There are many classes available from Hip-Hop-Contemperary! I love WSD!

Natasha Tagen-Dye: Hi, Im a company dancer at wsd. When you walk in people are there to great you, they will help you. But you have to try different classes if your child is around 10 years old, because one might be too hard, and one mught be too easy. We have AC. And we just put in new flooring. Hope you enjoy wsd.

savannah locke: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, Valuei love this studio my mom is the owner and i am so grateful to be able to dance at the wheaton studio of dance it is the best every year i become a better dancer i love it here and the teacher are wonderful just to say i reccomand i love this studio so should sign up now so you can have the best time ever enjoy love wsd

Mildred Harmon: I think they have the best Zumba class , I've tried other places and I haven't found any place as good, hopefully I can go back to my Zumba class sometime soon.

island o: Not easily able to get in touch with anyone by phone and never know when the meeting times are. Teacher screams loud during Zumba session

AVA Dance Company: what do users think?

Sarah Phippen: I went to one class at AVA Dance Company. I think that if you are already a skilled dancer and grew up taking a lot of dance classes, then AVA is a great way to meet people and have fun. I, however, was not a dancer in high school and felt that the class moved way too quickly for my skill level. Classes are only offered by dance type (hip hop, jazz, etc.) so if you're not already a trained dancer then you will fall behind quickly. No one really took time to stop and make sure I truly understood the moves and completed them correctly, which was disappointing and made me feel uncomfortable. I'm also a pretty fit person who works out regularly, so I have no issues with flexibility or intense physical activity.

Venus Terzella: The jzz and hip hop classes were fun, challenging, and instructors super helpful

The Salsa With Silvia Dance Studio: what do users think?

Kat Cap: Was visiting DC for the weekend & felt like I wanted to do something else instead of museums and found Silvia's event on Eventbrite for their first ever Saturday morning Yoga & Salsa Social Dancing event! One can either choose to do just the yoga, or social OR best of both worlds! I had a flowy strengthening fun yoga class with Anya & enjoyed DJ Aldo's amazing music & dancing! I've started learning a bit of salsa on 2 and despite them being a salsa on 1 studio, they welcomed me so kindly! We all enjoyed dancing with each other, had met such fantabulous people with great vibes! I recommend this studio so0o much! I can only imagine how awesome their regular classes are!
Response: Omg, Kat, thank you SO much for the super kind words! This was the first time we tried this format and we’ll only be getting better! So glad you stopped by and we hope to see you again soon. We also offer classes on 2. Cheers, Silvia

Summer Brouwer: There’s a reason why they have 5 stars! I never had the luxury of attending dance classes. I just moved here cross country and wanted to try a new experience. I was very hesitant, and very nervous, but I bought the new student pass for $100. The pass allows you to attend unlimited group classes for the month. It’s about a week into the session and I am in love with dance! They have many different instructors and many different styles of dance. I felt at ease learning with other students of my skill level and the energy of my instructors helped me feel so comfortable as well. If you’re on the fence about whether you want to try it or not, GET OVER IT! I love it here and you will too!
Response: Wow, Summer! I have tears in my eyes after reading your review! It makes it all worth the hard work! Thank you so much! We are here to show people that dance heals and helps physically and emotionally. We are so happy you love dance now! Silvia

Reema Bhardwaj: Salsa with Silvia is THE PLACE TO BE. Whether you’re looking to improve your dancing, rent their beautiful studio for your private event, or bring your kids for an experience. You will leave feeling satisfied and happy that you took the step to come in. There is a reason this studio is the #1 Latin Dance studio in the DMV. You can feel the love that was put into the studio from starting out in just a basement to two studios! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The teachers are patient, understanding, and energetic. The adult dance classes are always so much fun and filled with great material you can take with you. They even allow videos to be taken so you can look back to review. And the owner Silvia, she is a boss lady. Very friendly, helpful, and fun. If you’re looking to have a great time with your friends, learn, teach your children dance, or have a private event, come here & don’t waste your time calling other studios!
Response: Much 💗 for you! Thank you so much for your support!

Margaret Houck: I have been taking classes at Salsa with Silvia for about 6 months now and I'm nothing but grateful for everything this studio has brought me! When I started I was recently out of college, new to DC, had zero dance background, and was nervous to be putting myself out there. But there was no need to be nervous because everyone at the studio provided such a welcoming, comforting, safe environment for me to learn and explore my new love for dancing. I've taken classes with multiple different instructors at SWS and have truly enjoyed them all! I tend to go to Joffre's classes multiple times per week and absolutely love them. He and his assistant, Keelin, provide such a fun, safe environment for everyone to learn and challenge themselves. I always feel welcomed in their space and am so thankful for all of the great experiences that they and everyone at SWS have given me. Can't wait to keep learning new moves, making new friends, and connecting with the salsa community through SWS :)
Response: Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot!

Zey: Salsa with Silvia is more than a dance studio. Lots of magic happens there. You’ve got all the basics- amazing instructors, good variety of classes in style and level, a professional business, and a safe and reliable environment. In addition, you learn how dancing is about much more than just moving your body. By joining the studio you enter a community, so you meet amazing people and make new friends. The owner Silvia is always engaged and she is always willing to help. I have been going to the studio for about 2 years now, and the instructor I have taken the most number of classes with is Joffre. I always had a thing for salsa, but he is the one who really made me love it. Joffre is technically very competent, and he is also a great teacher (which is not always a given). He is also a warm and genuine person, who is very open to feedback. And as a bonus, he has the best taste in music, I learned the best songs/ artists I know from him. In short, if you are interested in entering the world of latin dancing, SWS is the place for you!
Response: Wow! ❤️ Thank you! We love our students so much! So happy that you are part of our community! People like you are the reason for us to fight and survive last year! Thank you!

Marcia de Jesus: I joined Salsa with Silvia in its Georgia Avenue location in January of 2018. During the first 5-6 months of 2018, I was at the studio pretty much every weeknight and all day on Saturday. The studio offers an unlimited-class plan, and you bet I signed up for that and took full advantage of it. My plan of taking as many classes as possible in a short amount of time to improve my dancing skills fast was one of the reasons why I was at the studio all the time when I first joined. The other reason was the people I found there – and they are the reason I keep going to this day. Incredible human beings have worked at SWS over the years, who have helped me feel comfortable as I engaged in a new and at times challenging activity. Among the front-office people, I must give a shout out to Gary. For a long time, he was the face of SWS for me, the person I reached out to if I needed anything. I miss you at the Georgia Avenue location! Among the instructors, I’m sorry for picking favorites (all instructors are great in their own way), but Joffre has always been my guy. Not only is Joffre a very good dancer, but he is also an excellent instructor. He knows how to break down and explain the moves (including teaching how to respect personal space and make sure nobody gets hurt while executing moves); he meets the students where they are (skill-wise) so nobody feels discouraged nor bored; and he tries to make sure everyone is having fun as they work on their dance skills. I felt challenged in Joffre’s classes, but also reassured whenever things got difficult and potentially frustrating. He has certainly helped me become a better dancer and I am grateful for that! Finally, SWS is the place where I found a safe, fun, open community and made very good friends. SWS has become a part of my life, a place I associate with happy things!
Response: Thank you so much Marcia! Your kind words are greatly appreciated.

Nikki Mammano: Finally after some time, I feel ready to write this review. I took Silvia's salsa teacher training course back in 2019 with an excitement to take my dancing to the next level. I have been dancing salsa since 2014 and I wasn't sure if I wanted to actually take the next leap and teach yet, but I was curious to start building a teacher foundation. After the experience however, I realized it was a mistake. And now, I cannot recommend this studio. The course itself I think was the first time Silvia and David were hosting it, it was extremely disorganized and not thought out. Some of the material was okay, but they threw so much at us in a short amount of time (7 weeks) and expected us to be experts by the end without any support. Silvia is also one of the coldest and most unsupportive people I have ever met. For the last class, she told us we were having a "test." I remember the week before I asked her who we would be teaching and how I should prepare, she did not give me very much information. When I walked in the week, I expected we would be teaching the other trainees like we were the 6 weeks prior. Nope. She threw actual student volunteers at us without informing us or letting us prepare. For me, it was very nerve-racking. She placed me to go last and by the time it was my turn, there were more students in my class than the trainees before me, which made the experience even worse. During our feedback session at the end, with both her and David, Silvia looked me cold in the face and told me I was too insecure to be a teacher. Mind you, I paid a lot of $$$ to take this "teacher training," just to be torn down as a dancer. I suggest Silvia does NOT host a teacher training again. Also, there is a lot of great dancing in DC. While you can learn some great foundations here and some of the teachers are wonderful, I do suggest looking elsewhere to become an advanced dancer.
Response: Thank you for the honest, review Nikki. I apologize if we've hurt you in any way. Teaching indeed is nerve wracking any way you look at it so it takes a certain personality to be able to be a good teacher. Teachers are always presented with difficult situations and they have to know how to handle them whether they are ready or not. Part of the training was a personality test to see if people can handle situations like that. The goal of the training was to provide the knowledge as to where the information was, the rest was on the trainees to study and prepare. As with all other trainings. You are completely entitled to your opinion of course and again, I apologize. Most of the trainees ended up teaching classes at the studio and that's the only negative review we've received. My advise would be if you really want to be a teacher, you should keep trying and working at it because it takes really hard work and it's mostly on you, not so much on the training, anywhere you get it. I, for example have never had a formal training but I've worked incredibly hard on studying, preparing and practicing so I can be ready to teach. Cold is something I haven't been called just yet but if that's what you think of me, I cannot argue. Hundreds of our students may disagree with you and I am always open to meet and talk to any of them, which is how I built the largest Latin dance studio in the DMV. Again, best of luck Nikki and I am sorry it didn't work out. Regards, Silvia

Darniesha Beach: Took my 2 year old to the babies dance class and the teacher was great. Very good with little ones and my daughter took to her immediately. The class was empty just 2 little ones including mine... but she still managed to fill the time and make it fun. Everything was very clean and location is nice if you want to make a day of it. My only complaint is the time; my daughter has to skip a nap to attend. She was super cranky so I don’t think we’ll be back until a different time slot is available or she no longer needs her afternoon nap. A class between 9&12 or at 5 would be cool.
Response: Thank you 💗 what time would work for you?

Caoilfhionn Roche: I am a former student of Mario, Joffre, and Cat's classes, and Joffre's current dance partner and assistant of 2 years now. The Salsa with Silvia studio has been my home for 2 years, as it has been home to many others. Particularly considering the global pandemic that we have collectively gone through, I think that one of the greatest lessons the last year has taught us is that we are social beings, and we need community, which is what the studio has brought to everyone that has walked through the doors. I have spent majority of my weeks over the last 2 years at this studio - truly nonstop - and I have never felt anything other than respect, care, and professionalism from Silvia as a studio owner and Joffre as an instructor and partner. His classes and teams are a joyful, fun, safe space, where I, among others have learned and laughed together. I have continuously heard from people how Joffre's classes and practices are the highlights of their days (and mine as well). Through a global pandemic and beyond it, Joffre has been a constant for his classes and teams, always respectful and responsible, cultivating a safe space for people to come, from wherever someone's day is bringing them, and be their authentic selves. This has created nothing but a community filled with honest, kind, caring people, that I have encountered. This has been my continuous experience with SWS over the last 2 years. The bottom line is: Silvia, Joffre, and the entire SWS community is a wonderful place to be, and I truly encourage you to come and see and feel it for yourself. - Keelin
Response: Thank you, Keelin!

Mia H: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueTook a private salsa lesson for 2 and it was AMAZING! Joffre was so kind and knowledgeable that he made learning to dance easy! Perfect for if you're looking to try something new or for a date night!
Response: Thank you so much, Mia! We are so glad you loved the lesson.

Dancemakers: what do users think?

Vicky “Vicky” Silven: My daughter is going into her second season with Dance Makers and she loves it. The teachers and staff are always pleasant and knowledgeable. They remember the dancers by name and you can tell the dancers love them. I always recommend Dance Makers to my family and friends.

Shevine Roberts: It has been an amazing first year for my daughter and I. The front desk staff are friendly, and respectful. Keep up the good work!!!

Laura Shumway: My 4 yr old loves her ballet/tap class at dance makers! This is her first introduction to organized extracurriculars and it has been such a smooth transition. She counts down the days until dance every week and has learned so much! Plus, they navigate covid so well. The girls are on separate mats on the ground to keep them separate and sanitize diligently. We also get to watch the girls once a month on zoom. I can't recommend them enough!

Hvy Chevy: This is a horrible place and it starts with the Director! Read the reviews all of the bad ones are true and good ones have no creditability. Review the reviewer. I wouldn't be surprised if the others were written by Robin Pitts herself. This studio is the perfect example of everything that glitters isn't gold. You pay 1000s of dollars into a place that markets turning your child into a star just to find out that they won't even make it amongst the stars. Dance was suggested to me because my daughter was having social issues (well she wasn't speaking). I brought her to DanceMakers on a Groupon. Worst 40.00 and year and a half I've ever spent. Starts off good but it’s bad like the owner’s weave

Michelle Silver: My daughter has been attending Dance Makers for a little over 4 years. It has been a pleasure working with the administrators, staff and dance instructors. Dance Makers has given my daughter the opportunity and confidence she needed with dancing and WE THANK THEM FOR THAT. Bring your daughters and sons to Dance Makers and lets have a DANCING GOOD TIME.

janay burn: This place is great they accept everyone for who they are they can be expensive but it’s way worth it we have so much fun the teachers/administrators are great and kind and I have on my been going a little over three months but it has been great they make you feel like family and so much fun

you have the right one: PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE. STAY AWAY. ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU AS A PERSON, A PARENT OR CARE ABOUT MY CHILD. BEWARE OF THE FRONT DESK AND THE CHAOS OF THE ENTIRE ESTABLISHMENT. THEY ARE SO UNORGANIZED THAT IT HAS PROMPTED ME TO LEAVE THIS REVIEW. TELL A FRIEND.

Jury Flores: this place is only trying to get the money /NOT even doing thier job right. charge me late fees with out me even knowing .No courtesy call manager is the worse "Beverly " had spoken to the receptiosnist to have the manager call me which she never did ,this was 3 weeks ago i had to call myself today to f/u . just a horrible business . Never again going to this place and def letting my friends and family know .

HappyWorkinMom: My daughter loves it here!

Darleen Jacob: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityMy daughter loves to dance at the studio, it is like a second home for her.
Response: Ms. Jacob, We're so GLAD to hear your daughter loves DanceMakers (DMI)! We LOVE having her here! Thank you for entrusting DMI in the "Process". We're elated you have given DMI the opportunity to be apart of her "Dance Destiny"!

Dawn Crafton Dance Connection: what do users think?

Ben Roberts: In preparation for our wedding, we decided to book dance lessons. I’ve never felt particularly comfortable dancing but my wife is, so we thought we’d give lessons a try. What a good idea it was to spend time learning a few social dances before our wedding! Our instructor patiently helped us through several dances and really helped to make the learning process more fun. I’d even enjoy more social dancing in the future! At the wedding everyone asked if we’d taken classes because we looked so comfortable dancing together, and we could proudly say we had. I’d recommend this studio in the future for private lessons.

Maria Robalino: Dawn, the owner of this business is an absolute nightmare to deal with. She insulted me and my child in public for attending a party we were not supposed to attend. I offered to pay immediately for it and she still humiliated us. My daughter was traumatized. There have been a couple additional times when she is incredibly rude to me. This woman has pervasive racial bias issues and discriminates kids and parents. This organization is SUPER disorganized. Moms mostly organize others and help with shows. The staff never knows what is going on. Dawn, the owner’s behavior is completely unacceptable! Do not engage with this business

Samantha DiGiorgio: This studio has proven the very best performance quality. It is a fun place to enjoy the beautiful art of dancing and the teachers and faculty are always supportive of their students. While a bit on the pricey side, the competition team is an incredible experience, especially for those who are looking into dancing in the professional world, the entire experience prepares you for such with very minimal drama which is a ALWAYS a bonus. My brother and I have danced here for quite some time and we have grown and matured very greatly as dancers. In addition we have learned what it means to honor our commitments, finish what we’ve started, be a part of a team, always put in the extra effort, and respect dancers of every kind.

Amanda Kossoff: DCDC is the place to be! My sister and I have danced at DCDC and it was honestly one of the best decisions I have ever made - switching from another studio to dance at DCDC. DCDC is such an amazing, encouraging, and motivating environment. The instructors are amazing and extremely talented and passionate about what they do. You can tell that at DCDC everyone is a family and has so much fun together. It is located in Rockville Town Square which is an awesome environment with restaurants and boutiques. There are three beautiful, spacious studios and one mini studio, and a kitchen to hang out it. I love DCDC and am so grateful that I signed up! I have also made life-long friends at DCDC as well. I highly recommend!

Sandra Bainum: This studio has been in existence for decades. A three generation dance studio family, they know how to teach dance and keep kids motivated to move to the next level. Their end of the year shows are fantastic and show the range of students and their potential. They have had kids ascend the levels to the highest ranks of dancers both through competition, to dance teams in college and beyond to the Broadway stage and professional choreographers. Their new home in the city center of Rockville is state of the art and it is truly the BEST studio in the area. Whether you are looking for beginning lessons for a little one to challenging classes for established dancers, you can find it here.

Ron Little: My two daughters have been dancing at the studio for more than 10 years and have grown so much while there. Confidence, poise and humility have produced a couple of "Rock Stars". They absolutely love dancing. The love and support from the studio and the entire family makes all of this possible. Thank you for encouraging the kids to explore the bounds of their talent. Rock Star Dancers from a Rock Star Studio!

Dan Blitz: Dawn Crafton Dance Connection has given our daughter SO many wonderful opportunities to grow and learn as a dancer. She has been exposed to multiple styles of dance at this studio, and loves being taught by trained professionals both in the studio, as well as the outside choreographers they bring in to further enhance training. Our daughter truly values her "dance family" here, and always enjoys her time at this beautiful new studio in Rockville, MD. In addition to her weekly classes, our daughter is also an active member of the DCDC competitive dance team. Very happy! S. Blitz

Pamela Krawczel: All 4 of my daughters danced with Dawn Crafton Dance Connection. My oldest daughter started at the age of 2 andjust finished her last year at the age of 18. She loved dancing and she loved the people. As a parent I thought the studio did an excellent job of teaching life lessons: Show up on time, come prepared, accept feedback graciously, work hard, etc. Overall, it was an wonderful experience.

Cassie Cooley: My mom grew up dancing with Dawn's mom and I grew up dancing with Dawn, so I knew my daughters would dance here too! Both of my girls love of dance continues to grow at DCDC. The professionalism of the staff and the nurturing they provide continues to make my daughters' dance experience a positive one. There is no other studio like them. I highly recommend DCDC!

hpie03: We started going to DCDC when my daughter was 2. As soon as we walked into the studio we fell in love with the people and the teachers. My daughter danced their for 5 1/2 years and we loved ever minute of it. We became family and we gained life long friendships. The end of year recitals and costumes are always awesome. DCDC is a great place for dancers. They not only learn how to danced but they learn how to be great people. Unfortunately we moved 5 years ago but we will always call DCDC our dance family. No other studio compares!

Nickelz Production: what do users think?

Melissa Barron: I have been taking dance classes here for over 6 months. I love every instructor and their unique approach to teaching and choreography. The studio offers dance classes for every level from introductory hip hop to advanced so there is a class option for everyone. Everyone in the class is very patient and encouraging. I learn something new every class and have really enjoyed watching my dancing skills develop over the past couple months!

Jacob Telleria: I have been going to the Wednesday adult classes at Nickelz Production for some time now and would definitely recommend it to dancers of just about all levels. Whether you are a beginner like I was when I started going or a more advanced dancer, you should come out to try a class. I'll also say that for most of the year so far, Arun has been teaching class and it has gone well overall. But I did enjoy class ALOT more when Nicole was teaching and am REALLY looking forward to when she comes back to teach.

Lia Cunanan: I've always been interested in hip hop dancing so I was so happy when I found Nickelz Production back in high school. I began taking their teen hip hop classes in late 2014 and since then have begun taking their adult drop-in classes too. What first amazed me was the instruction and dedication of the teachers. Nicole, the owner, is such an amazing person and she's really been a mentor to a growing dancer like myself. Arun who started teaching a couple months ago is also a wonderful instructor. He doesn't just show you the moves but helps you master them all in the span of one class. I was also drawn to Nickelz Production because as a developing dancer I constantly want to be challenged and Nickelz Production has a ton of performance, video, and competition based opportunities for their dancers. If you're a kid, teen or adult who's really looking to train and become a better hip hop dancer, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you check out this studio!! Specifically look into their advanced kid dance programs and their adult performance company... That's where you'll really find your money's worth of high level instruction, performance opportunities and a community of passionate dancers from the DMV area.

Andrea Allen: AWESOME dance studio! I started taking class at Nickelz Production a few months ago. The teachers and the choreo are great! They pack a lot of choreo into each class which is what I like and they really breakdown the moves. Everyone who attends the classes are really friendly too and I've met some great people through the classes. Most studios focus primarily on kids classes but Nickelz Production has classes geared towards dancers that are over 18 that you can take as a drop-in and they have workshops a few times a month to bring in guest choreographers like dancehall or just other hip hop choreographer so that you can get a taste of different styles of hip hop. Definitely 5 stars!!!

Shelby Barnes: I've been looking for a place to start learning hip hop dance choreography for the past year, and I'm SO glad I found Nickelz Production. They have help me grow so much in the few months I've been there. They are patient and helpful when teaching the moves. I definitely recommend coming out!

Melissa Bruny: I Love this studio! I was looking for a place where they offered hip hop classes for adults for a while and I came across Nickelz Production and decided to try it out when they were offering their walk in week and I fell in love with their classes! The teachers are great, the studio has a cool vibe and the people there are so friendly. I've made a lot of really great friends and I can't think of a better place to spend my time!

Keshia Ashe: So glad I found this studio! I've been looking for a studio that has hip hop classes for adults and I came across Nickelz Production and decided to try out the class and LOVED it! The teachers are really nice, personable, so talented and I think the classes are pretty affordable compared to other studios. Especially since I purchased the class card. I would definitely recommend this studio for anyone looking for hip hop classes.

Bianca Valdez: Such a great dance company! They are very professional, I hired them as back up dancers for a show I had to do and they were always on time and worked really hard during the practices. We had to add an additional practice and they were really flexible with me. I'm not much of a dancer but they were patient and made me feel comfortable. The night of my show was a success, I would definitely work with them again!

Jackie Hill: Went to a class tonight taught by Arun. Moved here from Charleston about a year and a half ago and have been off the scene for a while. I did the beginner and int. class back to back and could not be happier. It was EXACTLY what I've been missing since my move. I really can't say enough good things about my experience. He was very readable, easy to understand and seemed to speak my hip hop language. Thank you for this experience!!

Ankita Maheshwari: I am so glad I found this place, its my dream place. Come try it out and you'll see for yourself. :D
