The Wydown Coffee Bar: what do users think?

Khoi Nguyen: Great coffee spot located on a busy street. I recently stopped by on an early Sunday and the line was almost out the door. My friends and I ordered a regular coffee, espresso shot and a matcha latte. Prices are reasonable for DC and service was really quick. I’ll definitely be back for their breakfast pastries

Josephine Valois: I’ve had good experiences the first few times I’ve stopped by for breakfast, but this time was just the worst. $12 for avocado toast and it’s covered in so much oil I used 4 napkins to wipe it off. It’s completely soggy with oil. I unfortunately didn’t notice until I walked home to eat. The coffee is good, but get the breakfast sandwich instead.

Michael Meotti: Good coffee, great scones (I had the cherry almond, good amount of fruit and a bit of sugar icing on top...all to the good!) and nice location with comfortable indoor seating, some tables outside and a roll open garage style door/window in the front for nice weather.

Muniba Khan: Really great coffee, I'll definitely be back to try the smoked salmon and pastries! Service was great and quick and the place itself is really cute. I came late morning on a Monday and it wasn't too busy. I only wish that they had wifi because it would be a great place to study or work otherwise. Update: I tried the pastries and they were very good! The scones are absolutely amazing, I think I got a cranberry almond scone and I loved it. I also got the jalapeno biscuits- they were really good but I felt that the jalapeno flavor was subtle.

Oliver Wiehe: The flavor of the coffee is exquisite. The coffee is so good it needs no sugar or cream. Be sure to order a orange cranberry muffin. The sugar layer has a wonderful crunch to the warm fruit flavors inside. Atmosphere is casual urban. Wydown coffee bar is a must visit when close to U street in DC.

chparatrooper88: Wydown Coffee Bar. One word…wow.Coffee is second to none. Gluten free options. Price is the best yet.

Emir Sfaxi: I love Wydown since I don’t live far from it. However I was really disappointed that they removed the blueberry lavender scone and their pimento cheese biscuit. These two items were part of their best sellers! They also removed the croissants from the menu and never brought them back.

Jhori Lobban: Elizabeth is the best barista there! She is immensely respectful and kind and has a very nice personality. She made sure my order was correct and the latte was perfect ! Hope you guys are treating her as the asset to your establishment that she surely is.

Ravi S.: They use the lightest roast from their coffee supplier for their espresso. This results in a highly acidic, sour shot. Furthermore, milk drinks taste a bit curdled because of the extremely high acidity. If you like the espresso here, you have no sense of what good coffee is. Perplexingly, the line here is always long, indicating the sad state of coffee quality in the District.

BJONESADVENTURE: Perfect coffee. If you are fortunate enough to live close to Wydown then I'm sure it's already your go to spot. If you are passing through DC make this a stop on your list.

Emissary: what do users think?

Martha Wilson: Hip vibe at this neighborhood coffee. Cool interior but lots of space outside. Delicious food and coffee, too. Thumbs up!

Rebecca Peters: I’ve been here several times and had pretty mixed experiences. The staff is super kind and lovely. If you’re there to work, there’s very limited seating with plug access for charging devices. In ~5 visits, I’ve never been able to get on the wifi (even with restarting devices/the wifi itself etc.) The coffee is really good, but other aspects could use some improvement; I ordered a salad (~$15!) expecting it to be pretty substantial at that price. Was disappointed when it came with only a few pieces of grapefruit, half an avocado, and stemmy greens. Overall: go for good coffee, pre-charge your devices, consider not ordering salad.

Thomas G: Amazing avocado egg burrito, and tasty coffee. Lots of gluten free options, and milk alternatives. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Rosa: I love the vibe, the location, the avocado toast, the coffee and pastries of Emissary, but there are a few recurring issues that I hope they address: Some of the staff are very ignorant. You need to ask for one thing several times for them to address. The tables are not always being cleaned after someone leaves. People constantly come and go and sometimes you just get to sit at the dirty table and even when you ask for a napkin to clean the table, the person doesn’t come back. The WiFi also sucks. If you need to do stuff online, you can’t rely on their WiFi.

Tatiana Padilla: Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating; a variety of small plates; and delicious coffee! The space was cute and the staff was friendly. The espresso was a bit fruity and bright— not what I expected. Wish there were more breakfast pastries/breads available throughout the day as the food menu was a bit on the expensive side.

HK: My go-to comfort cafe in the neighborhood. Coffee and pastries are great. They have ample seating space indoors and outdoors, which makes it a great rendezvous point. They offer healthy food options although the portions aren’t big.

Lisa Giorgi: Cozy casual place, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Tried the egg sandwich which was tasty. Good for breakfast and work.

Jelena Djokic: Cool, indie coffee place. It serves delicious coffee and pastries. Prices are average. We got a tasty carrot cake cupcake there. The only thing that bugged me was that we took the food outside and there was simply no argonomic way to eat it without getting super messy, so I would recommend that they get utensils for the take-out.

Calvin Lietz: If you can find a table on the weekends, it's hard to imagine a better brunch spot. Great food with creative vegetarian options, excellent coffee (counter culture) and cute English basement spot. A familiar favorite that is always a good option

Bhinesha Seetaram: The best matcha latte. I took mine with almond milk.

La Colombe Coffee Roasters: what do users think?

Joseph Mathias: Cute little coffee shop in Blagden Alley. I frequent La Colombe often, this was my first one in DC. Location is GREAT, with the wall art. On a warm summer day, you can take your coffee to go and explore the many arts in the alley. The only complaint I have is that the menu is very limited, and they have only pastries (I attribute this to the fact that there’s 2 other coffee shops in the alley, that’s probably why. But it would be nice to see them add bagels or other small bites to the menu). Something else as well (and mentioned by a few others) is that there’s No WiFi, so if you’re looking to get coffee and catch up on work, this is not the best place. Staff was nice!

Tarek Ghaly: By far the best coffee in DC! I have tried several coffee places around Washington but I would rate this as the best of them all...staff are very friendly and welcoming. The place is cozy and in a quiet area behind Marriott courtyard..tried the biscotti and cannele from their bakeries and they weren't as good as expected.. restrooms are clean and tidy.. I would definitely visit again.

Phil Armstrong: Popped in here for a cup and a pastry, and enjoyed both very much. The pastry was a delicious blueberry scone with a vanilla icing drizzle on top. The medium roast drip was excellent. I like its location in the neat little alley, too.

Josh Roberts: You can't beat the charming location of this coffee shop. I've been working nearby at the convention center and various area hotels for a while but I didn't know about this hidden gem called "Blagden Alley." With its colorful murals and wide cobblestone streets, it's such a gift to DC. It's like if Old Town Alexandria had an artsier vibe. Anyway, back to La Colombe. I had a cappuccino here and found it to have a light, frothy texture and a robust flavor. After being outside in what felt like 20 degree weather, this was a much needed respite.

Joan Melendez: I love this space! I 💜this coffee company. I have my places in DC and NYC that I do frequent. I just am wishing and saying a little prayer... that La Colombe would look at National Harbor when they are needing their next spot!

Aaron Peters: Great selection of single source coffees - it's unclear if they come from a single farm or just a single region. Super friendly staff, and they have oat milk chai on tap.

Jorge Zurita-Coronado: Great location with friendly staff. Great selection of pastries as well. Inside seating is a little limited because of the pandemic. Great place to do some reading or get some work done.

Charles Michael: The place does get busy because it is amazing. The staff is friendly and the location has fantastic coffee. I was able to get a lot of work done. The place does get busy because it is amazing.coffee my favorite, tried their hot chocolate for the first time and love it. Quality drinks, quality wifi, quality space. All around wonderful My go-to coffee shop in DC 😊 The people are wonderful, the ambiance cozy, and the drinks are DELICIOUS! Their iced chai tea latte is my favorite, tried their hot chocolate for the first time and love it. Quality drinks, quality wifi, quality space. All around wonderful

Sergio Ortiz: I absolutely love the style of this place. Small, hole-in-the-wall joint that serves excellent coffee. It's like a secret gift to the area. Danny the hostess was knowledgeable and knows her coffee! The pour-overs here are great and they feature various types of both espresso and drip coffees from dark to light! Music is enjoyable and not distracting. The style of the pottery they use is incredibly beautiful and striking. It comes from a handmade seller in Italy which gives it an authentic feel to touch. Definitely coming again next time I visit DC!

Jenn Z: We just followed the crowed and it led us to this coffee place. It wasn’t disappointing at all! Very good coffee and bakeries. It resides in Blagden Valley which was interesting itself. It was an old shabby part of town now is under going transforming to a better place. The colorful murals lighten up the valley. Parking was easy ( from what I observed) just park on the brick road.

Swing's Coffee: what do users think?

Samantha: Had one of the best cortado in my life for less than $4 ! Their pain au chocolat is really good too! Clean and elegant interior design made the experience very delightful ☺️

Vanessa Anderson: Lovely, peaceful place for studying and getting together with friends! Smells good like coffee when you come in and the service is done with speed and grace. Thanks!

Frank Mikolajczak: It's a very straightforward no fluff coffee shop. They aren't trying to sell you "stuff". It's just their great quality roasting and classic coffee drinks. This place is good to sit for a few with a latte or just run in between meetings and get something to go.

Katherine Jones: Way better than chain coffee. And they have several coffee origins. I'm taking one back home.

Alabama OUTSIDErs: The coffee was great and the staff was very friendly! You aren't (as of late Dec 2021) encouraged to stay inside after you get your order, so we weren't able to enjoy the ambiance so much. There was a table outside, under the portico of the building it's in. So there IS a place to sit, out of the rain, if you need it.

Mike Galante: Really excellent espresso drinks. Both the cortado and flat white were excellent.

Perks Advisor: Swings in DC brews a very consistent and good cup of coffee. It’s location is just steps from the White House. You can also pick from a variety of pastries to go down with your coffee. The shop is small but there are some seats to sip away your day. Swings roasts their coffee and is knowledgeable on all things coffee. This company has been around for years and is worth a visit if you happen to find yourself in Washington and in need of some caffeine.

Paul Jarczynski: Ok coffee but the toilets... my God. Bio hazard at 10am on a Wednesday.

Arianna Vranas: Very kind staff and a delicious cold brew! I picked up a cold brew from them and walked down to the Sculpture Garden and had a lovely afternoon sipping my coffee in the sun ☀️

Bojan Divjak: First, they do not serve in porcelain cups but in cardboard ones. Secondly, the staff should be a little kinder. Third, coffee is okay, but it has some line of acidity, which I don't like.

The Coffee Bar: what do users think?

Muniba Khan: The coffee was pretty decent, but the service and friendliness of the staff was stellar. I got a London fog and it was delicious, but in the future I would probably ask for a shot of espresso since the flavor was really light. I will say that a lot of reviews here mentioning wifi aren't accurate anymore- it seems that they aren't offering wifi anymore due to COVID. Which I respect but wish I knew prior to stopping by.

LP: Cute space with a great dirty dirty chai and coffee selection with assorted local baked goods. There’s some great in and outdoor seating to stay a while.
Response: 🙌🙌

byron subero: A nice little coffee spot in DC. Great service and delicious blend for their house blend.

Dylan Roche: This is a great coffee shop in Shaw. Good drinks, friendly staff, decent prices, and a nice big patio out front. The only downside (and this is subjective) they do not offer wifi, which is interesting during the weekday because everyone seems to come here to work outside on the patio. But overall ten out of ten, this is a great spot to have in the neighborhood.
Response: Thank you! 🙌

Hannah Mirviss: Love supporting the local coffee shop. Drinks are great, staff is very nice. A few small outdoor tables but nothing inside. Matcha is not great and the one pastry I’ve had was nothing to write home about. But coffee, vibe, staff, location great!!
Response: 🙌 🙌

Susanna Mostaghim: Cute spot, reasonable prices. I don’t like that there’s only one bathroom as someone was in there for like 20min. While that’s not their fault could be better planned.

Laura Schlesinger: Great coffee and pastries, very friendly staff! Most of the seating is outdoors.
Response: Thank you! 🙌

Bruner Burner: Great neighborhood coffee spot. Not ideal for work requiring internet, as there is no Wi-Fi.
Response: Thanks for the review!

Rich A: Local coffee is always better than chain coffee. While the place was very busy during my visit, the staff was super friendly. Did not have some of the traditional flavors for latte but that did force me to try something new so I tried the cardamon latte; I'd recommend it for something new. Not a lot of room to sit inside and parking in the street is not the easiest thing to find. If you don't mind the parking struggle (at least on this particular Saturday morning) then you should visit.

Hillary Marshall: After brunch one Sunday my boyfriend and I didn't want to head home just yet and decided to look for a legit coffee shop near U St. We found this one on Yelp with good reviews. It did not disappoint! We love cappuccino and theirs was fantastic. Very smooth and just the right amount of foam. We will seek this shop out again when we come into the city. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and we sat in the big bay window right in front. It was quite busy and popular on a Sunday afternoon so be ready to stand in line and grab your seat!

Bourbon Coffee: what do users think?

Coleman Hutchins: I want to like Bourbon Coffee but their cups constantly leak all over the place (after every sip you end up with drips of coffee on your hands). When they first opened in Tenleytown I used to frequent, but the lids never seemed sized right for the cups. I pointed this out, but they never changed them. The cups were flimsy and of lower quality than other coffee chains (lids pop off if you put a little too much pressure when you grab it). I thought it was local to the Tenleytown shop. Today I had the same issue downtown on L ST. I'm rooting for this coffee shop as I love Rwandan coffee so hopefully someone sees this and switches up their cup/lid order. Probably some finance dude looking to cut costs. You can't be cheap about what you put your product in. After 3 years how does this go unnoticed?

S G: Love the coffee here and no its not spiked coffee. Bourbon is actually a plant's name from where coffee is sourced! The coffee is deep and bold, the milk consistent and frothy. The venue is beautiful! With a clear Kenyan theme. Spacious too.

Ddheardya (Dd): meh, it was okay. Aztec chai was good but mostly tastes like spicy milk, would have preferred to taste more flavor aside from spice. Sandwich was overpriced for quality. Having been a barista for starbux and dunkin, could have seen a bit more friendliness from the Barista. Seemed like a bummer when i came in :/ Cool chalk board menu tho.

Liz González: I am visiting from the south and came across this location thanks to a friend/google recommendation. Very aesthetically pleasing spot! The service was super friendly and quick, and my panini and coffee were made perfectly! Really a cozy atmosphere.

Brent Berkley: So glad I found this place while walking to the big chain coffee shop. Great coffee!

Heather: Had the virunga as a pour over and it was really good. Well described from their menu. I'd recommend this place for a coffee on the go

Will Dkn: Great decor, based on Rwandan styles, also where the coffee is sourced from. music is on point, and the ambiance is great for getting some work done or meeting friends.

Lucius Domitius Aurelianus (Augustus): Good tasting and well priced coffee. Service was slow but it seemed like they were quite understaffed and I ordered something which takes a while. Egg a cheese tasted good.

Tim Possible: Convenient location for nearby offices, medical centers, etc. Friendly staff that remembers your order to the T. And most importantly, very good light roast coffee.

Dan Edwards: Coffee with a purpose. (And that’s just how it should be…)

Sweet Science Coffee: what do users think?

Carolyn K: This is a wonderful little coffee shop and a must visit if you’re taking a coffee shop tour of DC. The parking was not great, so I had to part about 4 blocks away and walk. The shop was really cute inside and was not super crowded which was nice. The coffee and food was delicious!
Response: Carolyn, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to review, mich appreciated:)! Sandra

Hind KH: It’s quite place to get work done. I liked their new social rose cold brew. The cinnamon roll and strawberry loaf are delicious
Response: Thank you for stopping by!

Dondré: A nice coffee shop. I'm not a coffee drinker but the chai is pretty good. They have an in house blend they make from scratch. Sweet science coffee has baked goods as well as oat meals and juices. The staff is good and will answer all your questions.
Response: Thank you for stopping by and the feedback! Sandra

Liam Mullins: I previously gave this place a lower rating for what was a once-off issue with a coffee I had ordered. Since going back, I’ve had more positive experiences. Overall, this is a great place. There are some things I would like to see changed though. (1) The limit on WiFi (I think it’s two hours). In the age of remote work, they’re missing out on work from home folks. I’ve worked from Sweet Science, only for my WiFi to elapse, even though I would have happily ordered more coffee to stay put. (2) The seating isn’t the warmest. With a couch or two, some other seating options, or even just more seating, the atmosphere could be a lot warmer. That shouldn’t stop anyone though—the coffee is great!
Response: Thanks for the updated rating and feedback Liam, we appreciate it!

Samantha Melvin: My husband and I stopped for a quick coffee and breakfast. Home made pop tarts were delicious and coffee was deep and rich. We both drink black and were not disappointed.
Response: Samantha, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to review us, we appreciate it:)! Sandra

Rick Kemp: I found out about sweet science coffee in the daily coffee news. I realized I had to go and I walked over 40 minutes to get there and back. I would have walked much, much further. I have been to many coffee shops in many cities in the United States and most have pastries. This coffee shop pastries are beyond outstanding. So much so that I left with two bags of the pastries. Even if you are not a coffee drinker it's worth going simply for the pastries. They have two talented pastry chefs on-site and that makes all the difference. It is also my understanding that in the afternoon there is a different pastry offering which I have not yet had the pleasure of trying. When it comes to the coffee this is a very unique shop in that they have your typical espresso drinks but with very great coffees. In the multiple brewing area, which opens at 10:00 a.m. daily, those really interested exploring the limitless bounds of coffee flavors will be delighted with all the options. Hopefully, the photos will give you a good idea of the ever-changing coffee options and the available brewing methods. One of the very unique aspects of this coffee shop is that they determine which brew method is the best for a specific coffee and yes you should leave it to the professionals. I see this more and more at the better coffee shops where they will use the brew method that best suits the coffees flavor profile. You will have the opportunity to taste coffee flavors that you would never think are possible. Enjoy.

Ted Lai: Cortado very tasty. The vegetable quiche could have been warmed a bit longer because the inside was still very cold, but I saw potential. Scones were awesome. This place in NoMa is worth going back repeatedly.
Response: Ted, thank you so much for the feedback and taking the time to write a review! I will make sure that we increase the heating time on the Quiche. Best wishes, Sandra

monica yarur: LOVE the cortado! And the pastries are so delicious. Great place, 100% recommended!
Response: Hi Monica, thank you so much, we‘ll let our pastry chef know :)!

Zoe Weaver: This is probably one of my favorite coffee shops for working in DC! Low volume music, great pastries and drinks, wifi, outlets, and friendly service. Parking in this area is a bit crazy, but overall great experience.
Response: Zoe, thank you so much for the feedback and kind words :), we appreciate it! Sandra

Whitney Dobson: The coffee is delicious here but customer focus is off. After having two coffee drinks (~$10) over 1.5h I was set to order lunch, but realized I'd been kicked off the internet with a black out period of 5 hours. I asked the staff if there was a way to extend it and they said no. At this point there was me and one other person in the store. I had to pack up and go to Peets around the corner to order lunch and another coffee to keep working. Cool spot and good coffee, but have some procedures in place that don't make it a great place to knock out work and keep guzzling good coffee. Peets is around the corner and much more accommodating.

Grace Street Coffee Roasters: what do users think?

Stephen Shields: Incredibly peaceful and calming after walking the Georgetown strip. The vanilla latte was a perfect temperature and silky smooth. Interesting note… their company roast their own beans and the syrups are made fresh in-house! The latte art is a nice touch to boot! The staff is incredibly friendly! Thanks for the great experience!

Luis Mantilla: Very cute on the inside but where sometimes that means a lack luster coffee this place delivers! Coffee was very good. The people were very kind. The neighborhood/street had tons of style. Overall great experience and definitely stopping by again. Photo attached is of the coffee plus the bagel shop I went to before. Great combination.

Lilly L: Nice staff, super helpful and welcoming. The place is rather small and the seats aren't comfortable. Could be a lot more cozy. Also it is pretty expensive, $5 for a 8oz mocha (photo) with oat milk.

Fernanda Lanzagorta: The coffee is good. The only down point is that even though this coffee shop is listed in several websites as a good place to work, you should be aware that during the weekend this doesn’t apply. They also have food in case you want to seat and enjoy. Available seating outside. Staff not to friendly.

Emma Rose Wooten: Cute cafe on a quaint little side street in Georgetown. Feels very granola since it’s part of a cycling shop. It doesn’t seem like the coziest place to study or do work but definitely a good place to socialize or regroup after a lot of walking!

Kinga Szilagyi: Good coffee but it’s inside of a store so it’s super noisy, not the best for working or taking work calls It’s noisy and loud as there is something going on at all times! There aren’t enough power plugs either but the Wi-Fi is good! I read that it’s one of the best cafes and I’m kinda disappointed

Terence Tuhinanshu: Great space, fine music selection, one of the best egg and cheese sandwiches I've ever had! Ice chai was great too. Definitely coming back here 💗

David Pohly: Outstanding coffee, but also a great place for food. Loved the grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Ido Simyoni: Nicely designed coffee shop if you’re looking to work remotely some people were even taking zoom calls). I got the oat milk latte and wasn’t really a fan of the coffee roast . My friend wanted a pastry but noticed two flies around it so skipped and went to the bakery next door (dog tag bakery).

Mohammed Al-Marri: Small but cozy place, the chairs could’ve been better but everything else just compensated the experience. The staff were really kind and welcoming, helped me pick my americano beans based on my preferences. I really enjoyed the coffee as well as the avocado toast, definitely coming back again!

Qualia Coffee: what do users think?

Mischa: This is a laid back and multi-level coffee shop with a lot to offer from good coffee to alcoholic beverages to food, etc. It is also very comfortable here and I love their decor.

Vincent Marcopoli: Outstanding quality coffee. I had a pour over that was just wonderful. The Ethiopian beans had all the fruity character I love about that origin. The blueberry muffin was a perfect compliment. The service was great - the barista was very personable and helpful while serving multiple customers! Kudos to Quality Coffee!! I'll be back!

leo v: This place brought delicious microroasted microbatch beans and coffee to Petworth years ago when the old terrible Safeway (known as Stinky) stood where the current very nice one, with a mini Starbucks stands. Qualia was instantly my favorite coffee spot in DC and 13 years later, it still is. I remember asking the owner back in the day if he was concerned about the Starbucks coming when the Safeway was being built...he said he wasn't since they couldn't compete with his beans as far as quality. He's still here and has expanded to Eckington. There are big operators like Philz that have made their way to DC, and if I happen to be there...cool, but I'll go out of my way to patronize Qualia. The owner Joel is a really nice guy, who has always acted like a member of the community, not someone just here to make a buck. Feel good about giving this neighborhood fixture your business...and get amazing coffee in return!

Scott Cornelius: Kind of confusing to get into at the moment, the coffee shop is located next door inside Commonwealth. That said, the coffee was good, and Commonwealth makes a good burrito!

Eric Noriega: Great coffee in a neighborhood joint. Because of the pandemic they kind of moved next door into a space shared with another restaurant. Still great service and still great coffee. It's important to keep in mind that they roast their own coffees , so even the pour overs are excellent . ☕😎👍

Divina Pippin: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The breakfast we had was really good and very tasty. The espresso was even better, the best coffee in the area. I also love the decaf it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The barista is very good at making different toppings. The staff is very friendly. And also the strawberry topped cake is really delicious.

justabugDownUnder: Loved the coffee I had here. Reminds me of home down-under. People should come to this kind of cafes more often, rather than go to Starbucks and stuff. Local cafes should thrive rather than let the big guns take over. That’s why Starbucks never really made it in Australia except where there are tourists. Just bring your own power banks when you travel! Why four stars? The staff are very “official”.

Gold Mountain Coffee Growers: They source from ethical coffee farms and have amazingly fresh coffee, without pretense. What a wonderful DC business!

วรรณกานต์ พรมกลาง: Just stop by to get my ice brown sugars escapeso oat milk, nice services ☺️will be beck. Cool place & cool people there.

Sahra Sakha: Today I had an espresso which was very sour and tasted like acid which could be the result of under extraction (there could be several reasons for this, low water temperature, coarse grind etc..). I guess if you drink your coffee with sugar and milk, you will not notice it much but as a coffee purist who lived in South Europe for more than a decade where a perfect espresso is to be found at every corner, this was disappointing. The location is charming though, brings a nice vibe to the neighborhood and the baristas are friendly. Given this, I am happy to try again their espresso again, and hopefully have a pleasant surprise!
Response: Glad to hear you will give us another try. Espresso is hard and even the best barista can't get it right 100% of the time. If you are ever disappointed with a drink, we will be happy to remake it or replace it.

Filter Coffeehouse & Espresso Bar - Foggy Bottom: what do users think?

Benjamin W.: Filter has been a high quality independent coffee place in DC, close to many George Washington University buildings. It was renovated in the last half of 2021, but retained many of the great staff people. Quality coffee, chill atmosphere. It's just not a place to camp out and do work or stuff like that

Jadon Marianetti: This is the anti Starbucks coffee shop. It's also connected to one of the most lovely inviting lobbies that was recently renovated in DC. They only use ceremony coffee, the best roastery in the Mid-Atlantic. They used to only do french press because the best beans in the mid-Atlantic and french press is what people who really like coffee want to drink. They also now do pour overs and espresso drinks. They don't do Wi-Fi and laptops. They encourage conversation. it's not for everybody... But they are my fav coffee shops in DMV.

Emilee Tin: Great Staff & Owner. Coffee and tea were fantastic! Vanilla Coconut Tea was to die for 10/10. Relaxing, comfortable, and quiet sitting area to drink a beverage and get work done. Got productive studying and assignments done. Good mid day pick me up. Close enough to campus that I don’t have to leave too much time to get to class, but far enough that I am not distracted by everything.

Michelle Brown: We were excited to visit this place to try the French press coffee. We were looking forward to sitting down and enjoying the coffee with a breakfast pastry. When we entered, we were handed a mask before we could approach the counter. Asked if we were going to drink it there and did we want ceramic mugs. We said yes that would be great. We were then told we had to show proof of vaccine before we could use ceramic mugs!! Seriously!! Most ridiculous thing I have ever been asked since the pandemic started. There were only 2 stand up tables in the front. You have to go to the back of the building which puts you in the lobby of a building. Coffee was okay, French press wads served in 2 small paper cups and the girl behind the counter had to put the cream in. I prefer to make my own.

Caleb Trantham: Just went for the first time today and it's great! They have a selection of V60 and other Hario and Fellow products for home brewers along with many single origin Ceremony coffees to buy. If you're a coffee geek, this is your place. The staff were very nice and showed me how to clean the thermos I got, and the Ethiopian pour over I got was delicious too. Definitely going back! Glad to have them open once more.

Patrick Walsh: 5 stars for the coffee, but even by DC standards it's way overpriced. $7 plus tax for an iced latte, and one day later I got an iced latte of equal quality and volume (these are both third-wave shops) at Emissary x Pergamino for $4.50 plus tax. Paying for the neighborhood?

David Roche: Best coffee i've had so far in DC. Knowledgable baristas, they do a mean long black. The only negative is the lack of/awkward seating space

Matt Graham: Good coffee and muffins. Huge, hidden seating area. A much better place to work than my freezing cold, shared office.

Dondré: This place is a good coffee shop. It has up stairs seating and downstairs standing room with bar tops and tables facing the street. There is no WiFi here, they encourage conversation. Upstairs is a dope rendition of DC in the future, a collaboration between artists and architects which is really cool. I'm not a coffee guy but the person I was with said the coffee is really good. My chai was alright.

Alexander Smallwood: This place makes my day every morning. They source great coffees and know what to do with them. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. The culture is accessible, but undeniably quality centric. It's not the experimental, multi-roaster, brew lab type place that I generally look for, but it is the dedicated, consistent, friendly, quality oriented place that I'm stoked to have right next to my office.

Dolcezza Gelato and Coffee: what do users think?

Fatima D: This might be good for gelato but I was really disappointed with their coffee and pastry selection. Super small space too it's uncomfortable to sit there. The music was loud in the morning. The staff were super nice though. Just beware that like many. places in DC, they require you to show your vaccination card before you sit inside, otherwise you could order takeout.

Peter Ferguson: I love stopping by Dolcezza. I don't get there every day but when I am in Dupont I stop by. The pastries and coffee are great. The location is ideal if you are heading into the city from Maryland. Also it has Wifi so if you need to stop in for a coffee and do a little work, you are covered.

Emma Jeanie Beanie: The staff are very friendly and helpful in making a decision between all the delicious flavors. I got hazelnut crackle and Swiss chocolate, and enjoyed both immensely. Also, their chai latte is one of the best I’ve ever had! Even though it’s a small shop, there are a few cute places to sit and the atmosphere is very cozy. Will definitely return on our next dc visit!

Sassy Sauce: Nice place but the parking in this area is bad. There is a farmers market every weekend between the metro and this store. A lot of people are in the area to have lunch and shop and it’s difficult to find parking. Also, the gelato is good. There are a few different ones in the city and all of the locations are consistently good. The normal flavors you would expect. Sometimes during the cherry blossom festival there is a special flavor offered. When we went, there a small line but it moved quickly. The flavors are great and the texture is smooth. Always satisfied with my choice.

Arash Tavakoli: We ordered Latte and hot chocolate. Very nice place, welcoming barista, and much less sugar in their drinks which I absolutely loved!

Victoria Quiroga: Nice! The matcha latte was great. No vegan /dairy free sweets though :(

Iris Tan: Recommended by a friend and when we came here we realized that we have been purchased this brand for a long time .. great to get a chance to eat gelato out of fresh lol

sia shetkar: The berries and marscapone gelato makes me wish I lived in DC. Such a cute little shop, and the staff were so nice when I was deciding on flavors. Would recommend!

Timothy Chambers: The gelato was AMAZING- the best I’ve had anywhere. So tasty, smooth, and a terrific span of flavors. The dark chocolate was rich. Loved the Dulce de Leche- my new fave. We enjoyed the service with a smile, the charming atmosphere, and my wife’s cappuccino was really good, too. We’ll be back. :)

Miguel Curiel: Best gelato I’ve tasted in DC thus far. Plus, it is in a vibrant and youthful area so you can easily pass by after eating in any of the multiples nearby restaurants.

Lost Sock Roasters: what do users think?

Hind KH: I loved the place. It is small and cute one. They have a lot of plants and I liked that. I ordered orange latte and it is so good. I tried egg sando with bagel and it is yummy. The staff are so friendly

Lyssa McEachern: Beautiful atmosphere, covid safe, lively music, delicious food, and tasty coffee! What more could a girl ask for! Loved working here while sipping my hot latte!

Alexander: Wow!!! One of the kindest coffee shops I've been to in the DMV. It's a great place for LGBTQIA+ community, kind and caring staff, tons of positive energy around the shop, comfy seatings both in and outdoors. The coffee quality is so high, perfect for coffee lovers or casual drinkers. Breakfast sandwich has a great variety of breads to choose from. If you need a safe place to come to study, relax or get the new hot tea from a friend this is the place to be. 💗

Pabitra: Love the coffee here. We’ve been getting their whole beans for home, and it makes morning coffee a delight. A perfect medium roast, and every bag smells like heaven. Not cheap but worth the treat. Their shop coffee is also great with well made lates and the like.

Austin Graff: If you love coffee and want some of D.C.'s best, visit Lost Sock Roaster out of a 1930s theater in Takoma. After working out of Brightwood for a number of years, they opened their first cafe in February 2021. Here's why you should visit: 1) Coffee: They have a full coffee menu from lattes to pour overs to cortados. The coffee is sustainably sourced and roasted in small batches in Washington, D.C. If you're not into coffee, still go. They make hot chocolate and chai lattes. 2) Food: Every morning they put out fresh pastries (sweet and savory) and empanadas. For $10, you get three empanadas. I ordered buffalo chicken, bacon and egg and beef empanadas. They come with sauce making them the best I've ever had. The filling is flavorful and the dough doesn't overpower it. 3) Space: It's well-designed with a stunning bar where you order. In partnership with University of Maryland, art hangs on the walls. During the pandemic, you can't stay, but eventually there will be a few seats. If you love coffee, Lost Sock is worth your time. They also sell their beans at Made In DC shops across town.

Manoj P: Amazing place. I love their empanadas and coffee.

Elisa Ferrante: Friendly staff, gorgeous space and great coffee. The really nice pastries are a great bonus and I love that there are a few tables outside now too. They also have plants for sale!

Hannah Hickman: Great coffee, and really great food! Their lentil soup and empanadas are wonderful. I also love the vibes inside, with all the plants and greenery.

M B: Good coffee; friendly, efficient and courteous staff, welcoming and strong community atmosphere. This place has become one of my fave hangouts in the Takoma Park area. Highly recommend!

Jacob Murphy: Coffee was okay but nothing special. Staff acted pretentious when answering my questions about the coffee. Otherwise it has a decent outdoor seating area. If you live in the neighborhood it is worth a stop, but don’t go out of your way.

Sidamo Coffee & Tea: what do users think?

Kodi Wieland: Wow! The best cup of coffee my husband and I have ever had, hands down - not an exaggeration. Way to ruin all other coffee for us. There was only one person working and the service was great, friendly and efficient. I wish we lived closer, this would be our daily coffee.

Leandra de Labastida: The best Iced Chai Latte and Bacon/Egg Bagel, I've ever had. The staff is friendly and the location has fantastic WIFI. I was able to get a lot of work done. The place does get busy because it is amazing.

Black Star Dust: Wonderful place. The chai is the best in DC and Baltimore areas. It’s the best I’ve ever had by far. Rich natural flavors.

McLain Saba: My go-to coffee shop in DC 😊 The people are wonderful, the ambiance cozy, and the drinks are DELICIOUS! Their iced chai tea latte is my favorite, tried their hot chocolate for the first time and love it. Quality drinks, quality wifi, quality space. All around wonderful

Noah Ifergan: Beautiful Ethiopian coffee shop with authentic ambience and delicious coffee. Workspace and wifi too. Highly recommend!

sefanit tekle: This place is amazing! Their coffee was amazing and so is their breakfast sandwiches! It's hard to find good places for breakfast on H street so I was happy to grab something quick. Highly recommend 10/10 :)

Rachel B: Really wonderful coffee shop, and I absolutely love the Ethiopian influence. It’s something so unique to a coffee shop. Nice to have a place highlighting Ethiopian coffees! I got a very delicious everything bagel here as well (see picture below 😜). The shop itself has cozy, quiet vibes (at least when I was there), and great service! The other cool thing is they serve some Ethiopian food - also see the picture below! Didn’t get to try that since it was breakfast time, but would love to try it someday. Look forward to returning. #sidamo #coffee #tea #Ethiopian #cozy #everythingbagel

Shantrice King: I went to Sidamo around noon today with the plan of doing a couple hours of work on my laptop. I have been to the coffee and tea shop a couple of times before but always on a weekday. After I ordered, I sat down at one of the many empty tables and pulled out my laptop. I barely had time to open my web browser before the owner came over to me and said he would allow me to stay for 1 hr and then I had to leave. He went on to say that on the weekends he does not allow people to do work there because " you spend $5 and then are here all day. If 8 of you come and use each of the tables then I make what $50, can I pay my light bill with $50?" Both his math and customer service skills are off. I told him ok and went to the counter to retrieve the pastry I ordered. He followed me over to say that I needed to wrap up what I was doing and if I wanted, I could go to the backyard area and work from one of the tables there. He emphasized that I had already used up 15 minutes of the 1 hr he had allotted me so I needed to move quickly. I collected my pastry, packed up and left. To stay would have been interpreted as consent for how I was spoken to and treated. I understand running a small business is hard but if there are constant issues such as people working on their laptops during the weekend and taking up space, then he could implement simple solutions such as signage on the tables and other visible areas that let customers know that you can't do work there on the weekends and there are time limits for the tables. He lacks effective communication skills which I believe is critical to running a business. I am also disappointed by this experience because I was hoping to introduce family and friends to it when they visit the area. 0/10, would not recommend.

Erin DiGiuseppe: Went here for breakfast after staying at an air bnb nearby. They have several vegan options, including a vegan breakfast (hummus, tomato, lettuce, avocado on a bagel) that was DELICIOUS, and some vegan cookies as well. We also got the Ethiopian coffee service which was really special and comes with burning incense that really adds to the olfactory experience. I’m sad we’ll be leaving today but I’m so glad we came. The wait was a bit long, but worth it.

Lauren S: My sister and I didn't get to try the coffee. Heard good things about this place and decided to stop by after a workout. Before we visited Sidamo, we went to Whole Foods to buy soup and other items. Then we entered Sidamo and placed our Whole Food bags and backpack at a table so we could order our coffee at the counter. But before we could order our drinks from the barista, a man sitting at one of the tables, possibly the owner or manager, said something to us that we didn't fully understand. He either said no Starbucks or no service, not really sure. Maybe he was confused and thought the Whole Foods soup container was a Starbucks cup. The vibe/atmosphere of this coffee shop was incredibly unfriendly, the man was belittling, and both my sister and I felt very uncomfortable. I'm sure the coffee is great here however we were unable to order because the man was very unwelcoming. Do not recommend this place.

Brew'd Coffee Bar: what do users think?

Justin Schmid: My coffee this morning. I ordered a cappuccino and this is what came out. It's at least double the size of a proper cap. But I noticed that the foam looked great (barely any bubbles) and a bit of latte art. It actually tasted good and was the right temperature. So it was a tasty espresso drink, if not what I'd consider a cappuccino. The baristas were very nice, too, which always helps. Next time, I'll try a cortado.

Ido Simyoni: I really liked the coffee and I thought it was a cute spot too. I got lavender oat milk latte.Service wasn’t great nor friendly.

Rachel: A great spot to enjoy the sunshine and a delicious iced latte on a warm summer day! I tried their pistachio rose latte and am so glad I did - what a unique blend of flavors. Indoor atmosphere is beautiful but indoor seating is pretty much non-existent. We really enjoyed sitting outside though — there were several tables, large umbrellas for shade and well-landscaped planters for ambiance. This is one of the best coffee shop patios I’ve found since moving to DC. Their wifi did not work outside though - given the paucity of indoor seating perhaps they could consider getting a wifi extender. However, there was Xfinity wifi available in this neighborhood so I was able to get connected to that instead.

Leezia Dhalla: Ordered a large latte this morning & basically got a cup of steamed milk; I think they forgot to double the coffee because of the size. Not worth the $5 but staff was nice

Jack Connolly: I was deceived by the photos of this place. It looked like a spot where the drinks would be amazing, however the espresso was lackluster and not pulled well. The barista wasn’t to be seen when I walked in. When the barista came after 1-2 minutes, she had an attitude of apathy and disappointment- as if I was an inconvenience. Maybe she’s having a bad day so I take that with a grain of salt. Overall, the aesthetics are nice, but the drink I had was not. Would not recommend.

Mario Sengco: This is my favorite coffee place in the area. For my taste, they make the best drip coffee and latte drinks. Great flavor, consistent quality, and friendly service.

M Ramachandran: Amazing! The barrista on Sat afternoon was so wonderful and welcoming. And she made the perfect espresso shot. Great patio and vibe as well.

James Ives: Really solid coffee spot in Mount Vernon Triangle which offers outdoor seating. Went here on a Saturday morning and tried their Latte, Focaccia and croissant. Everything tasted good and the coffee shop it’s self was vibrant with a good atmosphere. The only negative I took away from my experience was that they didn’t offer recycling for the cups they provided.
Response: James, I'm so glad you had a good time here a few weeks ago! We ARE looking into recycling options and hope you'll come back and see us again soon! At your service, Nick

Sam Clark: Terrible experience. The latte had less than a shot of espresso added. Additionally, the cup cracked because the lids are extremely difficult to put on the cups. The two baristas on staff then stood and watched as I struggled to keep the drink from pouring out the cracked cup without offering any assistance. As I was the only customer in the shop at the time I find that unacceptable. After several minutes watching me struggle they finally offered to give me a new cup. No replacement drink or apology was offered. I do not recommend this place.
Response: Sam, I want to sincerely apologize for your experience here last week. The quality and service you received are in no way emblematic of what we aspire to be. When you have a moment would you contact me at nlongobardi@altamareagroup.com so that I might make up for your experience? Again, I am so sorry, and I look forward to hearing from you. At your service, Nick

Austin Graff: Brew'd Coffee Bar is the newest coffee shop in Mt. Vernon Square by the Capital View hostel and another coffee shop, Chez Lily. Here's what's to love: 1) Outdoor seating: There's oddly no seats inside, but there are plenty outside. That translates- only go when it's not raining outside. 2) Service: My barista was very friendly and fun to chat with. 3) Coffee: It's good. They brew La Colombe. The odd thing is the layout. You walk in and step down a few stairs to order your coffee or grab-n-go food. The coffee area takes up most of the space and looks like a space ship.
Response: Austin, Thanks so much for checking us out! Glad you had a good experience and we hope to see you again soon! At your service, Nick

DUA DC Coffee: what do users think?

Swastika Nohara: Very delicious coffee! Their cappuccino is simply the best, right amount of everything and perfect temperature. During summer, choose Kedua Coffee with ice, very delightful and refreshing. Wonderful croissant and pastries too. There are quite plenty of space inside. Friendly shop assistants. Overall atmosphere is really nice.

Kim Pop (kimpopusa): Delicious gourmet coffee! This is really really good coffee, don’t go anywhere else if nearby. Caught them at an event pop up in Nova burbs serving “cherry blossom” coffee (rose flavor from Indonesia) which I loved so much I went into the district to drink again! Not on menu but owner was very kind to make it again. Friend got hazelnut and said that was also very good.

Ido Simyoni: Gorgeous coffeeshop in downtown DC. I had the oat milk latte which had an interesting flavor, not my regular pallet but I quickly got used to it. They have some food options sadly no gluten free bread so I couldn’t try that.

Tenny Kristiana: Came here around 9 am and it was quite a line. However service was quick and awesome. As Indonesian I love espresso mixed with coconut water. We called it cocopresso there and here they called it Klavee. Taste good, slightly sour a bit compared to one in Indonesia which is mostly sweet. Definitely will come back for Klavee and probably try their food, saw several options and all of them look good.

Steph D: Came here and tried the pischok, a banana chocolate dessert. Having an Indonesian background, I had never tried it before so wanted to give it a try. It was pretty good; you can't really go wrong with banana and chocolate.

Intan Harya: I ordered some coffee beans online as Christmas present for my husband and my cousin. There was a hiccup while ordering for my cousin which was completely my own fault. I emailed Dua Coffee and they patiently helped me through the ordering process to the point that they even checked their website's backend. Long story short, I successfully order my coffee beans. Little did I know that their coffee beans were freshly roasted, like legit freshly roasted. It arrived in front of my door faster than what I had expected. For sure the coffee beans are superb, it prettily bloomed when we brewed it. Dua means "two" or somehow "2nd". However, I would tell you don't second guess yourself to get their coffee beans.

Wei Hsu: Americano and latte are good! Brewed coffee smells great. Nice location and the environment is bright and clean!

Ankita Chatterjee: Indonesian coffee place with limited but cute seats inside. Also has outdoor patio seating. They have alternative milk options. They have sweet treats including some Indonesian options like banana wrapped and fried like a spring roll. Overall, unique and cute. Would definitely visit again!

Sam Canchola: Very hospitable and warm, especially considering the dynamics of COVID changing every week. Ordered the owners recommendations - Brown Latte and the hot Kopi Kedua. Both were great!

Krupa Shah: Decadent coffee! Upon walking in, I was embraced with the smell of freshly brewed coffee. I ordered a vanilla latte with half the vanilla syrup amount and substituted with oat milk. The latte was heavenly and the barista made a beautiful design to add to the experience. limited in door / out door seating, and very hipster decor. Overall a cute little spot for a quick afternoon coffee fix or a solo work day if you can find a spot to sit.
Response: Glad to know that you had a great experience. Thank you for taking the time to share it. Hope to see you back!

Paolo Verzani: exceptional espresso program. Truly incredibly gifted craftsman. When I visit from NYC I without fail come to visit this cafe and I always get a flat white and enjoy the oudoor seating they have and read my Bible and just unwind. It’s the greatest cafe with a really stunning food selection too! I love their avocado toast, it goes well with their habenero spicy jam!

Ido Simyoni: Such a hipster place for a weekend brunch. Really enjoyed the vibe, service and food. Everyone was so nice and friendly.

Sofia Diaz: We went because of the good reviews online, the place was nice and cozy we were excited to eat there. However after ordering and having paid we were told that we had to eat outside in the rain. It was not the best experience to say the least. Food was ok. I would have preferred to have been given a heads up before ordering.

Lindsay Bishop: The coffee, food & service here is fantastic! I'm a regular at this point- it's a great casual environment to work out of with excellent quality food & espresso. The vanilla Tahitian Latte Iced with Oat Milk is incredible, as well as the avocado toast & breakfast sandwich. Highly recommend!

Angela Huffaker: Carrot cake muffin with sage and cream cheese + breakfast sandwich where amazing, but the coffee was the show - Maximum Effort put in

Jeff E: Great coffee and food. They need to update their offerings online as they say open for dine in and they are not.

S B: Several people behind me got their orders before me. i asked what happened; woman said sorry making your red eye now. she had two cups in her hands and couldn’t tell which one had espresso shots and which one had something else. shockingly, during the pandemic, her colleague put his nose in both to figure it out. took a sip and it was full of vanilla. returned, and she acted like this was a casual mishap—really though, she forgot my red eye and then made a it with shots of vanilla, and then just handed me a new cup of coffee on the spot without even making espresso. kind of grossed me out and i had to work way too hard for a simple order that was overpriced ($6+).
Response: Hi there, we always aim to provide a great experience and we are very sorry that we did not deliver on that for you. Thank you for letting us know so that we can do better. We would appreciate the opportunity to make it right for you, can you please send us an email at sayhello@slipstreamdc.com with your name and contact info? Thank you again and we hope to make it right!

Ian Desouza: Came to this cafe because of the reviews but unsure how it’s reviewed so highly. Just ordered a couple of oat lattes, the price (excluding tip) was greater than $12. Unfortunately one of the worst coffees I’ve had, tbh I would rather go to Starbucks. The staff’s perfunctory service failed to compensate for a poor quality coffee.

Sue Loftis: This was such a cute little coffee shop. Small and not kid friendly. I had the vanilla iced latte, it was perfectly sweetened, not too much sugar that overpowered the coffee flavor. And the Avocado toast was prob the best I’ve had anywhere. I’ve never had it the way they make it but I was pleasantly surprised.

cosmopus: Nice, cozy place. Nice spot to start your day with.Negative side: not clean utensils

Zeke's Coffee of DC - Downtown: what do users think?

Ido Simyoni: Cute coffeeshop with hipster vibes. Coffee was great. I got lavender oat milk latte and it was good.

Suzana Kedron: Nice tucked away coffee shop. Excellent service and likewise excellent coffee.

Sam Buck: The coffee at Zeke's may be the best coffee I've ever had! We each got a coffee that was absolutely out of this world. The iced mocha tasted like dessert, and my wife's iced americano tasted fresh and quality. There is some limited outside and inside seating, but Zeke's atmosphere is modern and inviting.

Kelly Peck: Great little shop, best latte I’ve had in a while and my girlfriend loved her black coffee. Friendly staff and and good atmosphere. Great stop before hitting the monuments.

Elyse Horvath: Great little coffee place tasty coffee and a nice clean bathroom! it’s definitely small but worth your while you can also buy bags of there coffee and other zekes coffee merch you may want from shirts and cups to stickers never underestimate the power of a good local coffee and a clean bathroom especially that later being in a city and all

vignesh s: Best coffee I have had in recent times!!Try out their honey lavender coffee!

Noah Ifergan: Great spot! Good coffee. Not a lot of workspace though.

Christopher Ramnarine: This is some great lattes! I wish I could have gone into the store but what they have is an outdoor setup and you have to order online and they will being it out to you. i ordered a caramel latte with oat milk and it was delicious one of the more flavorful lattes I've had in a while.

Tracy Bonay: Very good coffee. Got an “Iced Dirty Chai”My daughter got a hot Americano with simple syrup.Everything all natural here.

jeffrey nester: Zekes has freshly roasted coffee beans. I enjoyed the Ethiopian beans.

Bluestone Lane Dupont Circle Coffee Shop: what do users think?

Phillip Palomino: DO NOT ORDER from this location. I usually order from the WestEnd location and while overpriced, the food is very good. It is a completely different experience with this location. The pictures of UberEats should have been a warning of the quality of the food, but I trusted the Bluestone name so I figured it would still be good. I was wrong. It looked like a five year old put this together in my kitchen. The food was cold, tasteless and, frankly, just pathetic in appearance. My girlfriend and I had to order from somewhere else because this was pure trash. Only order from the West End location. We will never be ordering from here again. This place should go out of business.
Response: Hi Phillip, My name is Abby, and I am part of the customer support team at Bluestone Lane. I am disappointed to hear about your recent experience and we have forwarded this to our operations team to be addressed. If you'd like to chat further please feel free to email me at greetings@bluestonelane.com Hope you're well, Abby

Stephen Boucher: I generally love bluestone lane as a touch of home but this has my only bad experience. Cold toast. Butter not applied when warm and supplied separately as a chilled block that could not be spread. No Vegemite which they didn't tell me when we ordered toast with Vegemite. Horrible banana toast. The entire place needs retaining.
Response: We are disappointed to hear about your experience and have passed this feedback on to our local and operations team. Feel free to email us at greetings@bluestonelane.com for further feedback.

Haroon: Visited a second branch in DC after trying this in Philly. Absolutely loved it. Their rainbow bowl and breakfast bowl is super delicious and healthy, you fell full yet satisfied that you've filled your stomach with something good. Staff are very helpful as well. The seating in this branch are a bit odd given there's just some seating. But overall highly recommended.
Response: Hi Haroon, We are so glad you have been loving both our Philly and DC locations! We hope to see you back again soon to enjoy another great bowl and coffee!! Cheers, The Bluestone Lane Team

Ido Simyoni: Excellent service, great coffee. Love bluestone lane even in DC.
Response: Hey mate – thanks for the review! We can’t wait to see you again. Thanks for being a local

Anh Ha: The staff at the Connecticut location has always been so incredibly friendly and helpful every time I visited. They always remember my name and order and the food is always prepared fresh and in a timely fashion. The physical environment is bright, clean and spacious with outdoor seating. I highly recommend you all support this business, especially during these hard economic times!

Peyton Doyle: Finally made it to this fab coffee shop. The iced chai was top notch and the avocado toast looked like it was made with 2+ avocados. Gorgeous space, kind employees and great food/drink.

K Mac: Nope. If you're looking for espresso go elsewhere.
Response: We are disappointed to hear about your experience and have passed this feedback on to our local and operations team. Feel free to email us at greetings@bluestonelane.com for further feedback.

Diana Milena Lopez Avila: Following my friend's suggestion, we came to Bluestone for coffee. I really liked it. I tried a Latte with almond milk and a goat cheese toast, the toast was really yummy.

dipika: Small but conveniently located Bluestone. Their beverage list is impressive but their ordering system is confusing. The outdoor seating just outside is comfortable and has strong WiFi which makes it a great place to work.
Response: Thanks so much for the review, Dipika! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and we hope to see you again soon.

Carlo Corazza: I visited this place today in the morning and I was very disappointed by the service. It took me quite a long to make the order, as there was only one clerk in the shop and he was too busy in preparing the orders and attending the customers. I ordered a simple espresso and waited more than 10 minutes without much success. When I approached the bar to ask for some explanations, the clerk responded rudely and said I just had to wait, as they were back up in their orders and they could not serve the customers quickly. I replied stressing that I had been waiting for long time and that such wait was well beyond the normal. The additional reply continued to be rude and I left the store without taking my coffee. Final point, the clerk with whom I interacted and one of his colleagues who was working in the kitchen were both not wearing the mask properly, as they were leaving the nose above the line of the mask. This is clearly a violation of the legislation and a serious threat to customers' health. Certainly not a place I would recommend.
Response: Hi Carlo, My name is Curt, and I am part of the customer support team at Bluestone Lane. I am disappointed to hear about your recent visit and we have passed this onto our operations team to address. If you'd like to chat further, please feel free to email me at greetings@bluestonelane.com Cheers, Curt

Bluestone Lane West End Café: what do users think?

Sahar Bayounis: Great café! The coffee was so yummy. I ordered the flat white. ☕️ I loved the atmosphere and music. The place has big windows all around, sitting in the sunlight during lunchtime is amazing. They require your vaccine card if you are dining in.
Response: Thanks so much for the review, (name)! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed our Flat White and we hope to see you again soon.

Allen Hayes: Very delicious place to eat, work, and study! The environment is very well design. The decor is amazing. The food, phenomenal. The food tasted so well I can’t describe it. Everything was full of flavor. I’ve never tasted a banana bread like this. It literally melted my face! The chicken wrap tasted very good. The kale was crunchy, and the yogurt gave it a unique taste that made it more enjoyable. To wash it all down, an iced shake. Talk about a great way to end it all. I would go back just for this on a hot day. The words aren’t enough to express, but I highly recommend coming to this place. I know I will definitely be back!
Response: Hey mate – thanks for the review! We can’t wait to see you again. Thanks for being a local

Ardavan Tookaloo: I liked the food. Sorry loved it. It was so unique and different from other places and for that I would have give it five. However there are and were bunch of issues. their service system is really bad and stuck with covid no contact style. You’ll scan the bar code, which takes you to the website with low quality pics. You have limited options to modify your food like only changing the bread type! Then you have to pay and tip in advanced which doesn’t make any sense and is really time consuming! During our visit since there was no specific waiter(ess) there was an error in our order so I asked the fist person that I saw, it took her a while so I asked the second and third person, when I was almost finishes with my food they brought me 3 different food that they originally missed! Obviously I didn’t need that any more as I was finished! Also it showed me there is no communication among them. There is also only one restroom for such a big place which wasn’t really clean and you had to wait like 20 min in line! I give it 4 just because I really enjoyed the food. Otherwise the experience would have been more like 2-3.
Response: We are disappointed to hear about your experience and have passed this feedback on to our local and operations team. Feel free to email us at greetings@bluestonelane.com for further feedback.

Emma Rose Wooten: This is one of the few brunches I’ve had and thought “this is better than anything I would’ve made at home!” Most of the menu options are clean and healthy yet full of variety. If you come with a group, I recommend everyone gets their own dish, then order the banana bread for the table (this is what we did). Everything was amaaazing and beautiful, with plenty of options for the gluten-free/vegetarian people. Definitely make a reservation in advance if you plan to come during the weekend. Otherwise, wait time can be around 1 hr.
Response: Thanks so much for the review, Emma! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed banana bread and we hope to see you again soon.

Brie W.: This place is amazing. Really enjoyed the experience and getting to try this flavorful dish. The latte and flat white are awesome too. Should try if you’re around the area! You order everything on your own through a QR code which makes it easier too. P.s. I put the avocado smash on the toast, so don’t mind the mess!
Response: Thanks so much for the review, Brie! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and we hope to see you again soon.

Nazmun Nahar: The food was good. We had to sit outside cause it was tables of 2 or 4 and I came as a party of 3 so there wasn’t a big enough table inside. They also have you tip and pay ahead when you order cause it’s through their app which is so glitchy. The food to me is what made this 3 stars and not 4 or a 5. The service was not great.
Response: We are disappointed to hear about your experience and would like to learn more. Please contact us at greetings@bluestonelane.com so you can provide your full feedback for us to review.

Sarah Limon: One of my favorite coffee & breakfast spots although I cant give 5 stars only because it is a little overpriced in my opinion. My husband and I ordered 2 entrees with a side of potatoes and both a coffee and our total bill was almost $80. That’s a steep price to pay for breakfast. The food and coffee were delicious though!
Response: Hey mate – thanks for the review! We can’t wait to see you again. Thanks for being a local

Laura Ruiz: This restaurant is a great option for a fresh and healthy breakfast! Their drinks and smoothies are awesome and their food has so much flavor
Response: Hey mate – thanks for the review! We can’t wait to see you again. Thanks for being a local

Dodge Tucker: Potentially the worlds best breakfast and coffee!! Pictured is the breakfast bowl. All around excellent place. Nice people and great menu. Highly recommend
Response: Thanks so much for the review, Dodge! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and we hope to see you again soon.

Carlos Johnson: Great coffee with great staff presented very well! Nice outdoor drinking area. Ordering all done via mobile but has a nice choice and prices are not bad considering the area!
Response: Hey mate – thanks for the review! We can’t wait to see you again. Thanks for being a local

Compass Coffee: what do users think?

Sahar Bayounis: If you’re a hardcore coffeeholic, you won’t get enough of this coffee. I tried their ‘coffee of the day’ and it was super strong. The coffee cake was delicious, though. It went well with black coffee. 👍🏼 I didn’t like how very loud the music was. So I wouldn’t recommend working/studying there. But a quick cup of coffee in the outside seating area sounds fun.
Response: Thank you so much for your feedback. We'll certainly keep our ears open around the café for the music level fluctuations. Cheers.

Ryan Brown: Compass Coffee is a necessary part of the DC experience, phenomenal! Excellent vanilla cold brew.

Michael Anderson: The service, wow! The coffee, wow! I think I just found my new favorite Java spot. A step above the rest! Attention to detail and I got my order back super fast!! I'll be a repeat customer as long as the excellence is there.
Response: Hi Michael, thanks so much for the awesome feedback! We look forward to seeing you again :)

Robert Gluzman: One of the best cappuccinos I ever had. So smooth and flavorful!
Response: Thank you so much for your kinds words! We look forward to serving you again. Cheers!

Angelina Hicks: Amazing Cherry Blossom Cold Brew! Very nice and clean café with wonderful service!
Response: Hi Angelina, thanks for the great feedback! Glad you enjoyed your experience, and we look forward to seeing you again!

Brian Hagan: Great location, especially for those visiting and exploring the national mall area. Barista was very kind and coffee was solid...bought some beans to take home which come in really nice tins! Definitely recommend.

Claire F: Coffee was super bitter, like they hadn’t cleaned the machines in a while. The AC was nice, and I was feeling generous, so this was going to be a 3-star review. But then the barista who had rung me up minutes earlier accosted me as I was trying to use the restroom on my way out asking “are you even a paying customer?”, with a don’t-try-to-steal-our-restroom smirk. Stunned, I showed him my receipt. Lovely customer service, Compass Coffee.
Response: Hi Claire, I am sorry to hear about your negative experience. We never want our customers to leave without a legendary experience. I would love to keep chatting and learn more about how we can improve, please email me at hello@compasscoffee.com. Thanks Claire, I hope to hear from you soon.

Nathaniel Zorach: It's a good spot with good coffee and great service. I have subtracted two stars for this "cashless" absurdity, which is clearly just an attempt to restrict who can shop at this business without actually improving the ostensible public health aspect in the slightest.
Response: Hello, we're so glad you had a pleasant experience at our café. We do accept cash. We just ask for exact change or as close as possible. As we do not carry cash to provide change. We hope to see you again soon. Cheers.

Heather Johnson: Stopped by to grab coffee after a work event nearby. Caramel latte and blueberry scone were tasty. The two guys working were prompt and friendly, and the restrooms were clean.
Response: Hi Heather, thanks for the feedback. We are glad to hear that you had a great experience while at the café. We hope to see you again soon!

Ahmed Alameen: I wanted to taste something new.Very nice, cozy and welcoming.
Response: Hi Ahmed, I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit. We look forward to seeing you again!
