Erika Hernandez: I was looking into this school and submitted my financial aid. The woman that I spoke with kept arguing for some reason about my results. I thought it was very tacky for her to talk negatively about other schools. As a business, its important that the first point of contact acts professional. Update: I wasn't arguing. I actually just signed up for a program, so explain how that is incorrect. The truth hurts? That is a great way to speak to prospective students and she did talk about how those schools want just money. It's so tacky that you argue with clients if they leave a negative review. Be professional. Good luck on your rundown business! Place looks dirty and cheap anyways.

Amanda Yessler: I went to DSI for my basic esthetics course and now I am currently attending their Master Esthetics course. I cannot recommend this school enough if you’re located in the Northern Virginia area. The teachers are the best of the best and will always make sure you are learning proper techniques while proving a comfortable learning environment. The owner Shiva knows what she’s doing and even provided a job opportunity for me and I got the job! This school sets you up for success if you take it seriously. I recommend anyone I know who wants to be an esthetician to come here. Thank you DSI for everything I’ve learned and the lifelong friends I’ve made

A.N. Gartner: I completed my basics and master esthetics training at this school. This is the best school to receive esthetics training. I do not think any other esthetics school can compare. I felt very prepared and confident to start my career thanks to everything I have learned at DSI. The instructors are amazing, and the owners truly want what is best for the students. They also prepare you so well for state boards. Would recommend this school to anyone looking to start a career in this field!

Yasmin Morandini: If you are looking for a respectable and professional school to attend for your esthetician license do not attend dsi academy. Shiva is a money hungry goblin that is self centered and belligerent. She picks and chooses how many hours you have to make up because she is incapable of keeping track of students hours like she's supposed to. Every single interaction I've had with her was awful, she is very dismissive and disrespectful to students. Even after graduating months ago it still irks me how petty and bitter renee and shiva are. I had to hold off on writing my review for this school because these people are so vindictive and malicious I was scared that they would sabotage my hours or certification. Renee is so unbelievably vain, we would spend hours HOURS having to listen to her talk about her life instead of teaching the material. There are so many little details i wish i could share on here but there is way too much to say. Save yourself the stress and unhappiness and find a school that values your time and money.

Melisa Martinez: I wanted to take the Basic esthetician’s course at this school. I went in to find out about the program and Shiva the CEO seemed very money hungry. I asked questions about the program and she dismissed them and kept talking about the contract I had to sign. Didn’t offer a tour of the school and I really didn’t feel comfortable being there. I’m not one to write reviews but I felt that this place deserved one. I recently left the military and I was already nervous about starting a career and being there just gave me nothing but anxiety. The contract they were trying to get me to sign also said if you miss more than 30 hours you’d have to make them up and get charged 35 dollars per hour. I wouldn’t recomend this place to anyone. They need to put the students needs and concerns first.

Rachel Green: I must say, wow! I was looking for a school to attend and it won't be this one. The owner is clapping back at negative reviews?! How tacky, unprofessional and juvenile - to say the least. I've never felt so compelled to share my two cents but it sounds like they can only take compliments, never criticism. If you can't take the bad with the good, you shouldn't run a business. Remember the "customer" is always right, even when they're wrong.

Jill Reilly: I just finished my masters program here at DSI after also completing my basic esthetic course here as well. The school is top notch. The instructors are the best of the best. I cannot rave about my instructors enough: knowledgable, helpful, caring, professional. The state board test prep is so in depth that I felt extremely confident taking my basic and now onto my masters. I started and ended during the pandemic. Shiva made sure we felt safe coming in for our practical days. I would highly recommend DSI to anyone looking to get an amazing education.

Leah Hardin: I took both my Basic and Master courses at DSI. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the teachers. They are so knowledgeable and genuinely care about each student’s education. I feel thoroughly prepared for my state board because of the tremendous state board prep we’re given. I’ve also met some amazing fellow-students who were equally supportive and lovely to learn along with. Mrs.Shiva takes COVID very seriously and made sure we were all taking extra precautions to ensure everyone’s health. I really appreciate the experience, the friendships, the wealth of knowledge, and the amount of growth I was able to accomplish with the help of DSI and the lovely teachers.

I’ve watched the both through the last few years develop into the Titans they are today in the world of aesthetics. They joined forces over the COVID quarantine when most companies were closing their doors and some would be permanently. The two of them took to their social media platforms and to Erika’s Patreon channel and began to provide us all with hope that this wouldn’t be the end of our industry. Lynn Schubert: Loved my dentist of over 20 years, but had to fond a new one. Tried a couple, but not happy. Dr.Alathari and his assistant Alexis at GT Dental Aesthetics changed that. From the excellent. Informative and welcoming woman on the phone and at the front desk, through the entire checkup, Xrays and cleaning with Dr. Alathari and Alexis, they couldn't have been better. Eeia Mael: Dr alem & assistant alexus were amazing! I had to get a couple fillings before I leave the country for a year. My regular dentist retired suddenly and I needed an appointment in four days. I called and they did it SAME DAY! I hate fillings but they put me at easy and talked me through it. They didn’t do anything unnecessary and let me know my price before starting. As for pricing it was much better than my regular for state of the art equipment. Highly recommend!

I was greeted by the friendly and hospitable, assistant Alexis, who made sure I was comfortable (I was so nervous 😬). Dr Alathari introduced himself and briefly explained the procedure. He was gentle, thorough and I felt no pain. I highly recommend Dr. Alathari and his pleasant assistant, Alexis, who makes the visit more delightful… (as much as it could be given the circumstance). The entire team at this office is professional, knowledgeable, accommodating, efficient and friendly. Tracee Lockhart: I found Dr Jahangiri through the recommendation of one of my coworkers, and I must say I was glad to see how friendly she and her assistant sierra were. They are in network with my insurance wich is a big deal and saves me a lot of money, and the fit me in same day to fix my chipped front tooth and rescheduled for some other procedures. You can even do your paperwork online before your appointment. I thought the entire process was very easy. would highly recommend

Alexandra Yeager: Dr. O and her staff are the best!! Dr. O explained to me what to watch out for, what she recommended replacing and why. Honestly, she’s the best dentist I’ve ever had. Also I LOVE being able to text the staff to change my appt and send me insurance info. Huge help.

Susan Milner: I have been a patient of Dr. Marlin’s since moving to DC in the late ‘80s and cannot say enough about his skills and the professionalism – and kindness -- of his dental and office staff. Until the past year, I have not needed major dental work, and only one of the (small) fillings that Dr. Marlin placed over 25 years ago has required replacement. During the pandemic, however, I fractured a premolar so badly that both he and the endodontist he recommended suggested an implant as my best option. I’m now nearing the end of this process, which has included orthodontia to make additional space for the crown, and I am similarly pleased with the results thus far. I have also been very impressed with the orthodontist and endodontist that Dr. Marlin recommended and his (and their) excellent communication and coordination of my care.

Kathleen Jacobson: I've been going to Dr. Marlin for over 20 years and would strongly recommend him to anyone! Dr. Marlin is a very experienced, high-end dental professional with an engineering mindset, a great office team, and a sense of humor. I have had two implants done by him -- one in 2001 and one last year (in the midst of the pandemic). Both of the implants replaced teeth in a space that can best be termed "challenging" -- in the bottom-back of my (small) mouth, next to where the wisdom teeth would be. I still have the first implant from 20 years ago. I've been told that is way above the average life expectancy across dentists nationwide. The second implant (the one during the pandemic) was done with the same high level of engineering that he always uses. Dr. Marlin took the time to angle the implant in such a way that I would have the greatest long-term use of it. In terms of having work done during the pandemic: not the timing I would have wished for, but the office did a professional job of making me feel safe. In between these two implants, I have been going to this office for regular dental cleanings. The hygienist in the office, Claudia, is very nice, does a thorough job, and is pleasant in trying to me to change my habits. Overall, it's a great practice!

John Melius: Dr. Marlin has an exceptional operation going on at Elite Prosthetic Dentistry. His staff comes from different international backgrounds. The extensive work that he has done for me has gotten me many compliments on my teeth. I needed dental surgery and the surgeon complimented me on my teeth. As I was getting a Watchman put into my heart, the anesthesiologist had me open my mouth wide to check for loose dentures etc. She exclaimed, "You have beautiful teeth! I wish my dentist took care of my teeth like that!" These and others have complimented me on my teeth. This hasn't happened to me before I started using Dr. Marlin as my dentist. I went to him because I wanted solid, durable, dental work, and got compliments as an unexpected outcome.

gustavo paredes: I rarely write reviews for professional services rendered. It is my expectation that professionals should meet a very high level of qualitative standards and personal assumptions. I live in Northwest Washington, DC. I had a good degree of anxiety to find a Prosthodontist who could provide restoration for an implant that had array after 20 years due to an athletic injury suffered during college. I search online to locate a variety of Prosthodontists near Friendship Heights where there is a large grouping of dental practices. I met with Dr. Marlin and his staff. He explained to me the entire process which included the time frame, the series of procedures, and a tour of the facility which included the in-house lab. The implant had become loose and could not be reinserted into my mouth. After a review of the X-rays and situation, He recommended a much larger yet necessary procedure. The bone had deteriorate significantly that it take much more extensive work. A bridge that would span across the lower part of mouth. This was a bit shocking to me. The level of comfort, the professionalism and friendly of the entire staff and communication lead me to chose Dr. Marlin. I have not regretted my decision. Dr. Marlin is 5 star Prosthodontist. Many individuals strived for perfection and many fall short because good is enough, too much time and resources has been spent on a patient, or they have too many commitments. This is not the value ethics of the Elite Prosthetic Dentistry. I was not discharged as a patient until the work on teeth had met his high standards and I was comfortable with the look and feel within my mouth. This office is filled with individuals who are happy to work there and interact with the patients. Finally, do not balked if you feel the services are a bit pricey. You get what pay for. I received much more that I pay. I recommend Dr. Marlin and his staff wholeheartedly and without hesitation!

John Douglas: In December 2020 I was advised by my entertainment attorney that I was offered a streaming video series from a major network and we would begin filming in May 2021. That was great news but for the past month my daughter and I were searching for Prosthetic dentists because of my age my teeth were in bad shape. We searched in Virginia, Maryland and WDC and spoke to dentists asking for their personal recommendation. The name Dr. Gerald M. Marlin and Elite Prosthetic Dentistry kept coming up as one of the very best if not the best. I made an appointment for the first week in January 2021 and met Dr. Marlin and his very professional team. He examined me and said that I would need my teeth replaced by crowns because they were in fact in bad shape. Dr Marlin also said that my teeth alignment would probably first have to be corrected and that I should first see an orthodontist before he can start with me. I told Dr. Marlin I didn't have time to have my teeth corrected by braces and was there anything he could do. He said it would be real challenge for him and particularly when I needed this done by the end of April. Dr. Marlin took the challenge and my observation of him concluded that he is a perfectionist and that told why he received such high reviews from patients and other Dentists. By the end of April the mission was accomplished. The teeth were natural looking and not like some you see on television that have teeth looking like piano keys. Dr.Marlin and his staff are all exceptional. He hires the best and they treated me the very best. I'm so very happy with the results and I can't say enough good things about Dr. Marlin and his team. I recommend Dr. Marlin highly and with no reservations what so ever. He brought my smile back and he will bring your smile back as well. John Douglas

Dr. Marlin and his team have always been there for my routine items, but when I have had an emergency they have brought me in right away. With the lab in-house I have always received my oral appliances quickly. I appreciate the extra time he takes to make sure I have a proper understanding of how to keep my teeth and gums in great shape. I highly recommend the team and Dr. Marlin.

Eric Paisner: Dr. Marlin has been my dentist for almost 20 years. He takes time to provide extremely comprehensive care, whether in regular cleanings, or when I have had issues with decay. It's always clear he remembers me and my history. I never feel like he is rushing to move to other patients, as I have felt elsewhere. Adding to the overall experience, the team in Dr. Marlin's office is warm and inviting. It's a great practice.

Gabriel Schoenfeld: I've been a patient of Dr. Marlin for two years and, unfortunately, have needed a fair amount of work done on my teeth. I've been deeply impressed by Dr. Marlin's skill--actually, artistry--when working on my teeth. I can't say the process has always been pleasant, but the results have been pleasant, and it has been comforting to know that I am in the care of great hands. I should add that Dr. Marlin's staff is also top notch, extremely professional and extremely friendly and accommodating. I recommend this practice highly.

Renee Butterfield: Absolutely the best in town! I come here for my botox, facials, chemical peels, cortisone (best deal in DC - even w/o insurance) and b12 shots. After struggling for decades with cystic acne, my 42 year old skin has never looked better. Also, their b12 shots are now an essential part of my mental health/self care. The whole Hela team is just amazing - can’t recommend them highly enough!

The Doctor removed a scrunched up angry forehead that made people think I was angry with them when I was not. Tiffany Curpuz: I recently visited Hela Medical Spa for a laser hair removal session. As soon I entered the spa, I was greeted with warm smiles. I was appointed with a women name Sophia, and I absolutely loved her. I felt comfortable, and the process took only seconds! I later found out they offer a bunch of other services and quickly booked a facial with her. I recommend anyone to check this Spa out, and ask for Sophia!

Mia Saponara: I see Sophia about every 4 weeks for a facial and I look forward to it every month. I have always struggled with a variety of skin problems and haven’t had anyone be able to address them or take them seriously until I went to see her. My facials are relaxing but also educational as Sophia walks me through what she’s putting on my face, why I need it, and how I should be taking care of my skin at hone. Would highly recommend!

Aya Farhat: I love this place! I have been coming to Hela for about a year for facials, laser hair removal, and microneedling and all treatments have been amazing. Sophia has been my esthetician for a few months, and my skin has never looked better. Sophia is attentive, responsive, and makes you feel comfortable no matter the treatment (even LHR!). She is honest with her recommendations, and I know my skin is in good hands every time I visit. Can't recommend Sophia or Hela enough!

Erica White-Ruffin: My initial consultation with injector Erica went very well. I inquired about lip fillers, the receptionist at the time was very pleasant and welcoming. The space was very clean and comfortable. When I came in to get my actual service, my experience was a little different. My appointment was at 10AM and on my way to the Spa I was stopped by law enforcement as they were doing routine checks on Connecticut Avenue( I’m assuming they were looking for someone). My mom called Hela several times to let them know I’d be exactly 10 minutes late. She called about 3 times and no one ever answered. By the time I arrived, there was a different receptionist, she wasn’t as pleasant as the first one I met. She barely spoke and when I expressed my apologies for my tardiness and that I called several times, she said she didn’t receive any calls... She gave me some forms to fill out and told me to have a seat. Another client came in, the receptionist attitude was completely different. She greeted the young woman, welcomed her, offered her water and came from around the desk to hand her the forms. My mom and I were both puzzled. Erica then came out and again, I expressed my apologies for running late and let her know that I did call several times, she said the phones were off the hook and not worry about it. Contrary to what the receptionist said, I believed Erica. She began to sanitize my lips and said I had beautiful lips and I really didn’t need the filler. I insisted that it’s what I wanted and my desired look. She proceeded. She did do a dental block to make the process more comfortable and it certainly was. I barely felt a thing. After she was finished I noticed a very subtle difference, she told me she actually used 2 syringes of restylane. My lips certainly did not appear to have two syringes and my mom said she never saw an additional syringe. I did like the results but did not love them. She said if I wanted more I could come back and do a lip flip. At checkout, the receptionist told me the price which was $250 more than what their website advertised. I had no problem with it. I noticed a week after my appointment, it was advertised accurately. Erica is great and is good at what she does and I more than likely would recommend her but I myself wouldn’t come back.
