Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Beza Mitiku: Don’t ever come here we waited outside more than 3 hours to get in inside I have no reason to lie , I have no idea how this happened in government office what do they even get paid if they don’t get their job done it’s waisting time I mean we have so many people jobless in this country who can work better than this slow non experienced lazy workers . And I don’t think their is supervisor that at least control this , and they always wait their lunch time so that they will get more time to waist. so try to come taking day off from work cuz u will be here all day but might not get done on that day also.

Maya Stone: They never answer. Ask for a ton of documents to give me my child’s social security number. I called the other office in dc and they mailed it to me right away with no issues. The day I got the number from the other office this one was still demanding more documents from me and won’t mail the Ones I submitted back months later.

Juan Macias: This location was busy when we arrived but everyone that works here was friendly and helpful. I would like to give a special Shout out to Ms Ashley who was working at window number 9 today for her amazing customer service.

sai krishna: The office is very slow. They are highly irresponsible. I applied for a new social security number on Aug 31st 2021 and haven't received any response from them. Whereas one of my friends applied just five days ago to the same office and got his number in three days. We both are from the same country and I still don't get it as to what they are doing and how "fast" they act. They are just way too lazy. Update: I received my ssn in October and it was partly my university's fault not to have activated my visa status.

Critique All: I called to make some inquiries, and the agent was beyond rude- very nonchalant & dismissive. It got to a point where she hissed, then told me to "have a good day", and HUNG UP ON ME. I called back, it was the same agent, and she did the exact same thing, AGAIN. Extremely horrible service, with a very unwelcoming atmosphere. It seems as though they are advised to exude this type of behavior, given how comfortable they are- treating customers in this manner. If I could give a 0 star, I would, without hesitation. I'm not one to give a bad rating, but this was beyond unacceptable, & it happened twice in a 10 minute time-frame, so I had no choice but to resort to this, so it does not happen to someone else. Again, outrageously horrible service. We are approaching 2022 in less than a week, organisations that are funded by the government are beyond capable of training their employees, and raxism & xenophobia are unacceptable. Keep your bias away from work, or better still, destroy your bias. THIS IS WHERE TAX MINEY GOES? A JOKE!

Iryna F: They didn’t even let you in. Now Covid restrictions are dropped by federal gov (I work there myself) and they didn’t allow me to change my name due to marriage, just gave me an envelope to send it without any words. People were standing outside. So rude and unprofessional.

Michelle Steele: This review is intended for the 2041 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE #130, Washington, DC 20020 SSA location. Not sure why Google transferred it to this location. On January 14, 2021, I mailed in my personal documents to the Social Security office at this location in order to process a name change on my card. On January 30, 2021, I received my new social security card in the mail. I received the documents I had mailed in a few days before this. I was amazed at the speed that the office processed this during COVID, since I was also worried that my documents would be delayed due to weather as well. I made a total of 3 calls to the local office during this time; and did not wait longer than 10 minutes for any of the calls. All of my calls were answered with courtesy, and they answered my questions with the correct guidance. Kudos to the employees at this location- I am puzzled by the negative reviews since the location has been virtual since March 2020. I experienced extremely efficient service with a less than 2-week turnaround.

Julienne Mulzac: So as one does I went down to this office to apply for a new social security card. The line wasn't too terribly bad, and it seemed to be moving quickly enough. The staff that day were very efficient. In particular I dealt with a very nice woman who was trying to make sure my physical well being was good lol. I can't remember her name, but she was also very sweet and very fast about getting me in and out and that's something I always appreciate!

Nkadji Moukam: Since September I have been trying to get a name change on my daughter's social security card. I sent all the documents and information they needed from me, but still then nothing haa been done. I still have not received my baby new card and when you call they do not answers the phone. It's been 6months now and is very frustrating. Wast experience ever

Troy N: Update: waited 4 hours to go to the window and she tell me the specialist is gone for today so come back another day. Seriously?! WTF!!! Expect at least a 2-4 hr wait. The names are not called in order. No tracking system. No estimated wait time. There's 10 interview windows and 3 intake windows but only 1 intake window open and 2 interview windows so running at less then 25%. Why even be open if you can't process ppl in a remotely timely manner? The facility only operates 4 1/2 days per week so this should not be asking too much. Just another example of the poor implementation of your tax dollars. Would definitely play in traffic before going here again.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Julia Walter: I had a great experience with this office. From scheduling the in person appointment to the actual business I had to take care off everything went very smooth. The officers were most helpful in explaining the documents needed and the service was super efficient. The officers were very friendly.

Karim Washington: Very poor service and helpless . Wasting my time to go this location.I go to twice to update my card . First time they do the mistake not taking my documents properly. Second time they do the same thing. We need work 5 days aweek to support family. This location like to waste our time..

William Escalona: The worst bussiness office, I made the aplication for firt time by SS number and never got it, since January 2022 so Im still waiting, I called several times nobody knows nothing about my aplication, I need to do again, it doesn't exists anymore at computer sistem

francina h: Very rude no one want to help I sent over my information no email no call back nothing since covid started about my ssdi now they stop my payments I reported them and received letters saying my payments will continue after my documentation I sent in. Need help worst

Terrance Gibson: The office is open for appointments only. I have been calling the office for a whole week now and counting. No one have yet to pick up the phone. I called the office in Clinton, MD and an associate answer my call with no longer than a 5 minute wait. But unfortunately my matter has to be handle by my local office which is this one. It's very disturbing that there is no accountability or standard of service in certain communities.

Rian Hayes: I got married in June of 2021, because of covid all documents are to be sent through the mail. It is December and I have not received my marriage license nor my birth certificate that was sent in the mail to this office. I have called several times and all of the managers continue to redirect me but never help. This location is absolutely unprofessional and I would not advice anyone to send documents through the mail to this location. You may not get them back.

Krisley Rojas: I’ve been calling for at least 3 times RIGHT NOW, every time the phone is ringing they just pick up the phone and hang it up on me without saying a word.Rude, unprofessional.

Joeann Samuels: I recieved everything back I just didn't receive my social right away but I call them and receive it in the mail

Muvah Blessed: Why appt dates giving for weeks later some of us do have emergency situations and priories where we need SSC ASAP

Michelle Steele: This review is for the 2041 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE #130, Washington, DC 20020 SSA location. Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Aiden McDaniel: Really great and so easy experience. I had to do a name and gender change on my social security card. I had the application and all necessary paperwork in hand and prepared before I came. I showed up at 10:12, and had this all done by 10:45. Was even able to park out front. Everyone was kind and really, a super easy experience. I recommend coming to this office. There were only about 4 people in the waiting area and I was called quickly.

Elizabeth Orion: All SSA locations can be a little hard to contact via phone (calling first thing when they open always yielded the best results for me), but once you get ahold of them, the people working at this location are incredibly friendly and helpful. I made an error in dropping off some paperwork, and they went above and beyond to help me out. Even if you're in VA or MD, I'd recommend coming to this location. Also, as a pro tip for anyone else looking to change their name after getting married--you don't need to make an appointment! Print out your application and bring your required documents to the office, and they have a drop box inside that you can leave them at. Then they'll get mailed back to you after everything is processed.

David Yip: Mask is needed to enter the office. Short queue both days I was there, just stand on the blue dots and move forward. Fast and efficient service as I submitted my application online so it was just waiting to speak to an agent. Total time < 60 mins.

Natalie Mendoza: My replacement card was sent to the wrong address. The correct address was on my application, I also made sure to put my address on the envelope in big black letters and it was still mailed to the wrong address. These employees need training, you can't be this incompetent while handling important personal documents.

Giulia Azzolini Saugo: I showed up without an appointment to request a Social Security Number. A very kind employee helped me out. I filled a request and he registered me on the system. He gave me a receipt and after 5 days I received my SSN in my mailbox. Living in Virginia I should have gone to Social Security Administration in Arlington but they nicely helped me regardless. I spent 45 minutes at the office.

C: Wow. I can't recommend this SSN office enough!!! I went in 2 times walk-in and No appointments. The first time I missed some docs, the 2nd time I walked in again and just waited for 5 mins, and everything was done and no need to come here again. I live in Silver Spring,MD but that office never answered phone calls nor opened the doors for walk ins. I had to go somewhere else and I am so glad I came here instead! Each time took less than 15 mins, and they are nice and patient. Meter parking available both time I went there. At least 5-8 spots! Also metro is pretty close by.

Jacob K: Horrible, Have been calling the number over 2 weeks never connects, then went to the office the security door person is RUDE, really rude. I explained the phone system doesn’t work, but they constantly repeats same word “ call the number to make appointments, no walk-ins”. BUT THE NUMBER DOES NOT WORK. They don’t want to understand nor listen. If you insist your work they threatens you.

Chaturbhuj bhojwani: This social security office is hard to find, It is very small office next to the building parking entrance.

Joe Black: This would be a zero if it was an option. I was denied entry because I didn't have an appointment. Their is no mention of needing an appointment on the SSA websites. Other locations mention phone service only, but this one makes no mention of needing an appointment. I was told to call the number on the door to make appointment, of course it goes without saying that the number is either busy or no one answers. You can't get in, and you can't get through to make an appointment. I guess SSA employees have some special skin that needs protection that they can't be open like the rest of the world.

William: Currently impossible to get service due to a textbook catch-22: No walk-ins, you must have an appointment. How do you make an appointment? By calling the number. But the phones no longer works so no one answers and you cant make an appointment. And if you ask to be seen because you are already at the office and the phones are down? “Not without an appointment sir”

Washington Social Security Office: what do users think?

Vrronique Jones: This starts out with an offer for a Walmart card that you might have won. How is that appropriate or even allowed for a government agency?! This is crazy.

Andrea Herrera Palma: THIS IS NOT THE SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE NUMBER, PLEASE DONT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION.

Alexander Donaldson: Even though you have an appointment. You still have to wait to be seen.

Transition Assistance Program: This is a scam! Not a real social security office

U.S. Social Security Administration - Office of Disability Adjudication & Review: what do users think?

Daj Monroe: Its only one male worker who is helpful and not rude that works here ! Its one lady who is very rude for no reason and gets loud for no reason. People need to remember tables can turn and should watch how they treat people.

Greg Barber: The lady wanted to get loud with me for asking questions. I mean I don't know the answer and I'm disabled and I guess she's tired of her job and should not be in customer service or around people and put a bad image on the company.

Elizabeth Cotton: I will be dead before I hear back about my appeal. I worked for 30 years. I lived with manic depression for most of my life. 4 of my siblings all received Disability because of the same affliction. I also have been diagnosed with colon cancer and have been through chemotherapy. Hospitalized many times throughout. I tried working again but failed miserable. In the last month I have been diagnosed with RA. I have lost hope.

Khay Williams: Why is there no zero star option here? The ambivalence of the people who work for this place reflects the amount of concern and help that is provided upon calling. Shame on the government for not providing US citizens with quality answers to queries concerning life decisions for the applicant. The employees are robotic and trained to provide general employee manual answers. Not helpful or informative to be a government establishment funded by taxpayers. I will leave it at that and not expect any change. Zero Star.

Russell Martin: The system in Columbus is crooks December 3rd I called and talked to a lady about my appointment of December 4th and told her I wouldn't be able to make the appointment hearing and she called me back and left a voicemail on my call she made it a phone call appointment instead and I would get the call at 9:00 the morning of December 4th I waited on the call and never received it and they decided to let the appeal council of Virginia to take over and they said I wasn't no longer disabled I have papers to prove that i am. They show i have type 2 diabetes and a benign pituitary gland tumor on my brain and my back of my lumbar is messed up and they cut my disability and ssi off do not never trust the Government they can do the same thing to you and mess your life up.All they care about is their onselfes. If the hearing office reads this my name is WILLIAM RUSSELL MARTIN JR. YOU WILL KNOW WHO I AM LOOK ME UP.

Mahealani W: I like how you track me yet I have never been here. So why is Google saying I was at a location when I wasn't!!!?This isn't safe for the person of a smart phone saying you were at a place when you wasn't. The gov't needs to just stop. Or I may just go to before there were ever computers. 😡

S Ragan: Did not visit office but I did call. This Social Security Office is not a general type SS office where you talk with counselor about your benefits or get a SS Card replaced. This office is for Social Security Appeals only. A person would only come to this office after Social Security has been denied, the person files an appeal, and is directed to come to this office in the Appeals process. For general SS Office Services, visit the office at 6295 Edsall Rd # 190, Alexandria, VA 22312 or the Fairfax location at 11212 Waples Mill Rd #105, Fairfax, VA 22030. posted 2/14/2019

Mike Greeno: ***IMPORTANT*** This is SSA Headquarters, THERE IS NO Social Security FIELD OFFICE here....SAVE yourself the trouble and the PARKING FEE for coming here...The Nearest office from this location is ((( 6295 Edsall Rd #190, Alexandria, VA 2231))) Which is open on Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM) [[ Wed 9 AM - 12 PM]]

G O: Please take notice, this is not a SSA file place. You can only go to the Lobby floor, and armed guards with give you a paper with SSA file offices address around this area.

Denise Kuhn: This office is very pleasant, but when it comes to judges signing off on your case it is very slow and you have to wait longer because they are so backed up. But that is more money coming to us for back pay.

Social Security Administration- Call for Appointment: what do users think?

Henrique Barbosa: Plenty of parking. The office is on the 3rd floor, and there is air-conditioning. Appointments are not needed anymore, but masks are welcome. They don't allow everyone inside, but we wait inside the building, with AC and away from the sun. A person comes and talk to each person in line to make sure we need to wait, have the right documents, etc... Very professional. Pleasant atmosphere. Nothing like you see in other SSA locations.

mf zxen: Excellent Service! Quick and easy i was able to receive a help for a replacement card of my social security. I got a receipt stating that my card would be coming in the mail in approximately 2 weeks. I received help from the Asian man at office number 3.

C: I rarely write review but I have to cause I need to change my name (Got my citizenship in Jan 2022) for my SSN in order to get all my documents right (Like for Taxes, my jobs, bank, etc). I saw all the reviews here knowing it's impossible to get someone on the phone, but I still have to try cause this is my SSN office and it says to schedule an appointment with your local SSN office ONLY. No other options. (Besides, other offices nearby are as bad as this one) I called 5 times in the past month. I called today the sixth time and someone finally answered! I heard the background sound but just for 2 seconds, they cut my call. Even got someone to answered my phone call, they just hang up. What else can we do??? I would try to go in person next, but also know door is probably closed and staffs are rude as multiple reviews claim. I will find a day where I feel I can handle the stress and go... I'll update this review and share my experience. Overall, for right now, I give up calling and I am still on hold for getting my name officially changed just because of this terrible office.

Angely Ramirez: I have been trying to call them and they never answer. I just turned 18 and I finally decided to just go so I can get my Social Security card in person but when I got there the door was locked and it was 3:30 pm. Remember the office closes at 4 pm. So we were a bit confused and tried to see if anyone was inside. We saw someone. They came over and made a smart remark with a very rude tone "The door is closed". Remember again, it is supposed to close at 4 pm. So rather then this staff member saying sorry we closed early or anything along those lines they just gave off a nasty attitude. We tried to ask questions like "well, how do we get a hold of anyone in the office for next time?". The man just stood in the other side of the glass door giving my father a rude tone just saying the door is closed. All I am trying to do is get my social security card so I can get my state identification card and drivers licences but this office isn't making anything easy for me. After reading the first 10 google reviews, the common thing they all said was that the office has rude staff and the office have lost their documents. As I have gone there in person, I noticed the first part was true so I can only imagine that the second part is true a well which is concerning because I don't have many documents and they are asking me to give them those little documents that I already do have.

Jessy: I’ve had the best experience ever at this office . I was so scared to drop my passport off at this location because of all the negative reviews . I updated my citizenship and my name . I dropped my documents off on a Friday afternoon and my new social security card was in my mail box the following Friday . After 3 weeks my passport didn’t come back so I called and the representative on the phone told me I would get a call back . 7:30 am the next day a I got a call from Kimberly with information about my passport . She gave me the tracking number and told me when it was sent back to me , she even told me to call back if I didn’t get it . Happy to say I got all my documents back and I want to commend this office on a job well done .

Fasika Ejigu: I don’t usually write reviews. Also, I never have a good experience with Social Security Offices however I had the best phone call appointment today. Ms. Rodriguez was very patient and knowledgeable. She answered all my questions without any hesitation. I am very satisfied by the service I got today!

Leo Chiu: Let me tell you a story to show how ridiculously bad of their service. My wife and I came to US last January. After that we need to apply for our new SSN. Unlike the other services you can do it online. SSA requires this must be done in person. Now this is a terrible disaster. It takes me FOUR MONTHS to make an appointment. Whenever I made calls to SSA there was always a person ask the same questions AGAIN and AGAIN then told me they would reply and NEVER. The funny thing is my appointment is not from the phone service but from their direct contact after I apply to another SSA in DC (way better than this one) and file a complain. After applying there, unfortunately, only I have my SSN when SSA required the Certificate of Marriage for my wife's based on the type of our VISA. Another complain because on SSA's website you never find the detail about what documents you should prepare for each type of VISA. But it is ok, after all we, as foreigners, have nothing to do but following the rules. When I have the Certificate issue from my country. The infinite nightmare happens again! I thought I could just give them the documents but I am wrong. Everything should be start over and this time whenever you make a phone call. It eventually hang out so there is NO WAY to talk to an agent. Three months ago I ever talk successfully to an person on phone and same answer to me that I will have their reply of the appointment. Nope. Until now I am still waiting and My wife can't have her own finance project because of this quality of service. I don't get it. How come a agency in US will have its function like that? I really want to go into there and yell to anybody. It makes our living worse. I don't know what to do, and I firmly believe that there are people like us suffering this from SSA. When I am typing this comment I am still trying to make my pathetic appointment. Just one SSN for years. Ridiculous

Rediet hagos: This ssa office is the worst government office I have ever experienced. I was calling for months and when I finally got a hang of someone they pretended like the line was cut off and they hang up on me. It’s not only it’s unprofessional but I don’t think government office should work against the residents. People with disabilities and other serious issue have to deal with this none sense. They have to come up with a better plan.

somnang chey: it's so sad that that a government agency has this many horrible reviews. if i could give 0 stars i would. how do you tell the public that you aren't accepting any walk in and everything must be made by appointment through the phone. then when we call nobody answers. and when i call the main ssa phone number i get put on hold for 48 minutes only for them to drop the call. beyond pathetic.

Beyhan Cagri Trock: SSA says they provide in-person services by appointment only, but they don't let you make an appointment! You go through all the trouble of calling SSA and listening to all the prompts and waiting 20 minutes on hold and then they hang up on you anyway! Grrrr..... Jan, 26, 2022 Since I originally posted this review I was finally able to speak with someone at SSA who created a work-around for me to get my documents. I had to gather a specific set of documents, seal them, and then drop them after-hours into a box in their hallway. Strange.. but it worked! Thank God for the one person there who believes in public service and thought "outside the box" for me!

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Dyana Smith: Everyone I encountered was polite and professional. If you come prepared with what to expect then you will have no problems. Due to federal government protocols you may have to wait outside for a while as they clear out. The security guard politely explained this to us and when it was time to enter he came out let us know. Check the website ahead of time and make sure that you bring all forms and documents.

LaTanya Hill: My husband and I just left here for a name correction . The service was absolutely superb. I read the reviews and they were horrifying 😳. We experienced the opposite of the bad reviews. We give them 10 stars from security to employees. Keep up your great work guys!

dawn palmer: You can't be serious. I can not believe this I have been married for a week how can I change my name I've called and I've even went to my local office plus a neighboring office in which both were closed I happened to see a worker but she hurried in the building smdh...I created 2 accounts only to find out it's only for benefits. Social Security Administration what tour of business are you running i with there were other businesses that does the job y'all refusing to do... 😡

NIcoll Garcia: HORRIBLE SERVICES! Not once answered the phone. I wen to the office, they said I needed a preview appointment and that they couldn’t answer any questions I had.until I made the appointment. HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT IF THEY DONT ANSWER THEIR PHONE. This is TERRIBLE!

C Roberts: The staff here are rude and unprofessional here. I have been trying to get a copy of my sons social security card since December. I mailed in an application AND placed another one in their drop box and it STILL hasn’t been processed. I just called to check on the status of my application and the staff member hung up the phone. Please avoid this place at all cost

Charlie: They won't let you come in. My son can't take a test for a learners permit without a social security card. He can't get a social security card without a photo ID he can't get without a social security card. As a parent I can't help my son get a social security card because they don't accept photo copies of IDs in the mail you have to mail them your driver's license. They need to grow up and work like adults let people come into the office.

Phill Tiddle: horrible got hung up on this is supposed to come out of my tax dollars horrible clowns👎🏻 I don’t even feel safe that I give out my Social Security number almost wanna say that’s a fraud number If how the representative talk to me and hung up…..is this Number even legit or real.?????😳😳😳😳😳😨 didn’t even mean to put a star it should be a negative star

McBDR gwjneod: If only I can give a negative, I will. Set up phone appointment long time ago, confirmed it a day before and VOILA! They never called us! When we complain, they wanna give us appointment which will be in the next 2 months and while I am still asking things, hanged up the phone on me. I am very disappointed that I didn't get HIS name, the rude agent who answered the call and the agent who supposed to call me and put a note that we cannot be reached, wrong number, blah blah. These kind of people shouldn't be in Social Services.

Tiffany Rucker: This is the worst office ever to deal with. I have been going back and forth with this SSA office since September 2020 and I still do not have my new SS card! I have sent in all documentation required and its still not enough! They asked me for my original marriage certificate and then sent it back to me folded up with red writing on it!! How disrespectful! I am contacting every agency above them to complain on this incompetent office! I understand that we are in a pandemic, but they are working from home and it shows!!!!! Governor Hogan need to know about how terrible this so called government office is being run and trust me I will make sure he knows! Stay away from this location if you want professionalism and Service .

Cookie Jones: What started out to be a nightmare turned into a pleasant experience. Mr Weston took charge of my situation and followed up with a wonderful telephone call from Ms Won. She was very attentive and dealt with my issue as a professional. She summed up the problem and took immediate action. Thanks to her and Mr Weston I'm very satisfied with the service I received.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Lee W.: This is the absolute worst! I feel like I’m in a uncivilized country! After standing in the hot sun for two hours now I’m waiting for at least 2 more hours! Even worst they have empty row of seats where someone can come in out of the heat! They are ridiculously slow and no consideration for those outside and Security won’t call the next person in after someone leaves! Why don’t they just go to all appointments or close until they have enough Staff!!! Everyone should write their Congressman about this office and the treatment to Taxpayers especially Seniors!

Mama Jai Love: Have elders and disabled standing out in heat with no care or consideration. No seating providing in or out. Safety measures non existent if most customers outside. No tickets or line order to be found. Do better. How is this safe for anyone? Been outside for an hour in sun.

chris burnk: I am convinced they are running an identity theft scam there. They forced my wife to mail in her original social and green card, as well as a marriage certificate. Her request for a new card was denied citing lack of documents. They only returned the marriage certificate. These documents were mailed USPS priority with signature required. Someone signed for it, but still claims that the green card and social security card were not in the envelope. The employees here could care less. I'm not sure if it's corruption, theft, or complete and utter incompetence. Maybe a combination of all 3. A replacement green card is almost 600 dollars. A cost we are only incurring because of this office's asinine policies. Shame be upon them.

Kate Meakins: HORRIFIED that I sent my passport, insurance card, and marriage cert to this location for my name change... I sent my package via UPS next-day delivery with signature required. UPS confirmed the package was delivered and signed for BUT THIS LOCATION HAS NO RECORD OF RECEIVING MY PACKAGE. When I was finally able to get through to speak with someone, they literally told me to go to the office AND SORT THROUGH THE MAIL MYSELF to find it. I can't believe the incompetence of this government agency. (I suggest complaining to your local congressman.) But I don't know what to do... My sensitive information is lost(?) and I can't get any SSA employee to help me.

Renee Summers: I mailed in my passport along with my daughter's to get her a new SSN card, January 28th. I only mailed it b/c the office was closed b/c of covid. I went online and it said 10 business days. It is now April 15th and I still HAVEN'T received my passport back AND I go on my honeymoon in 2 weeks. They should have posted their backlog online and I would have waited until I got back. I'M FURIOUS..... TO SAY TO LEAST. I don't even want to give them one star.

Rammy Akins: This branch office does not earn a star but I had to click on it for me to be able to post this review. I have been calling this location for the longest to make an appointment because when I went there physically, I was told that the branch does not accept walk-ins nor make appointment on site that I will have to call to make an appointment. Every time I called no one answers until yesterday at about 3pm after waiting on the phone for an hour plus, some guy came on the phone and he asked me what my status was and I told him that I am a permanent resident and that I will like to apply for an updated social security card, then he hang up on me. For the benefit of doubt whether the phone was disconnected somehow, but to my greatest surprise the automated service relayed that the office was closed for the day. I WAS VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THIS! Why should it take so much to do very little things in a civilized nation? I do not get it at all.

Baltimore Academy Scanner: I applied for Social Security 2 years ago at this office. I filled out all my information and was told everything looked okay and that they had everything. They told me to wait 10 days and it will be approved, then when I went into my account to check the progress, the status went from processing to please apply again. I must've made 20-30 calls, held on the line for hours on end, only to be hung up on over and over. I spoke to a fellow who spoke with a slight Caribbean accent. I explained the situation to him and he said some other lady has my case file and I need to speak with her. He transferred me directly to her line, she didn't pick up so I left a voice mail, never to get a call back from her at all. I waited 4 days and called again. The same guy picked up. I told him I that the lady he transferred me to never picked up. He quickly transferred me again and, again I got a voice mail. I called back after holding for over an hour, he picks up again, I told him I need to get this resolved, I've been waiting for almost 3 years coming this December for an answer. He tells me someone named Casey Davis is handling my case and it's not his problem, take it up with her and that, "it's not his f-ing issue!" , and again he transferred me to Mrs. Davis who to this day has not returned any of my calls inquiring about the status of my application. This is by far the worst office staff I've ever dealt with in my life. After working for almost 50 years with the government, I can't believe I have to fight so hard to get my social security. This is absolutely madness. I called the main Social Security Office to tell them about it and they also were not help. They said to take it up with the Lanham office. I'm being run in circles over here. I just want my benefits that I works so hard to get.

Gail Robertson: This place doesn't deserve a star. They constantly lie. They misplace documents. My boyfriend dropped of his documents to this office the third week of February and they can't seem to locate them. They've said it was mailed out around April the 2nd or 4th. No documents. Then they tell him he has to reapply for his documents. WHO has money to keep reapplying for a green card only to social security workers LOOSE them?! You can't get anyone on the phone. You can't get anyone in person. If you can't get an appointment, how can you get help? They don't respond online. This is the most ridiculous system setup. Who is this designed to help or hurt?

Suneidy Lemos: It is impossible to get in touch with people working at this office. This seems to be the way with any SSA office nearby. How can we do the things we need to do, if you don't do what you get paid to do? I wonder what do these people do all day in these SSA offices, because surely they're helping no one. It is very frustrating dealing with them. It's been this way for years and absolutely nothing gets done about it.

ALW: Giving 3 stars because of the 2 and a half month wait time for me to receive my card and documents back. If you are planning to get married and are updating your name, know that it may take a lot longer than 2 weeks for them to update your information. I didn’t need to mail in my documents or make an appointment to submit my application, they have a Dropbox at the front of their office that allowed me to drop off my documents right there at the office so that made it kind of convenient.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Hadiyah Morales: If I can give zero stars to this office then I would, customer service is horrible and these representatives are rude and disrespectful. They don't help you out with anything and even if they made a mistake on their end, they won't take any fault at all and are very unapologetic. If you don't like your job than find a new profession its that simple. The crazy part is I am going into this filed next year once I graduate with my Social Work BA and I promise you I will not act discussing in this matter and will treat everyone with dignity and respect.

Thelovelyone 82: Horrible. The experience I had with this location was the worst. Bad customer service, the phone lines are always busy and when they do ring they randomly disconnect. I called for weeks trying to reach someone, and when they do answer they are rude and hang up on you. I trusted the system and mailed sensitive documents via certified mail to this office per the application instructions. They lost my sensitive documents! Even with my proof of delivery they still claimed to not have them. Tax payer beware!

Catherine Webb: My husband made an appointment in Jan to talk to someone. Appointment was set for early March. Guard at the door insisted we were there for a drop off and wouldn't let us talk to anyone--so we dropped off the documents. Called back the office to confirm and were told we should not have dropped off the documents. Then she kept changing her story of how the process was supposed to work. My husband doesn't speak English well so sometimes he would ask me to translate what he wanted to say. The lady on the phone hated that and kept insulting me-- probably since I speak English and won't be fooled by her changing her answer every five minutes. When we asked for her name she hung up on us. Called back and got someone else who said yes we should've dropped off the documents. Went to the guard again and he basically admitted they made a mistake but now the only option was to leave the documents or wait another month for another appointment. In the middle of tax season. When you most need to have an SSN number. The only thing smaller than their mental capacity is the probability that they will succeed in life.

Jeffrey B: You have to call early in the morning to try to reach someone. I had to call 3-4 times before reaching anyone. The first 3 calls were dropped with no warning. I was helping a lady setup an appointment. The REP did her best to help however what frustrates me is that they were not able to give us an appointment. Instead they would mail out a letter with a date/time and if WE dont get anything after two weeks we should call back. A Crime. My friend had a language barrier but did the best she could. Before REP wanted to leave I wanted to confirm the address. Turns out it was not correct because we could not understand my friend. All you had to do was confirm the address before getting off the line, especially if you are mailing something out to them. Rockville SS has been a joke. Using Covid to do less. They cut calls, schedule appointments in advance up to 3-6 weeks later, and who ever is the manager of this location should have to answer to all these bad reviews or fired. Bring someone else who has vision and leadership. This is not an isolated issue. Look at all the reviews in the last couple of months/years. Lord help those who urgently need assistance.

Irene Felix: Horrible, horrible experience. I called innumerous times, put on hold for the call to drop after long waiting periods. Called again yesterday, on hold for 2 hours finally someone picked up, what a terrible experience. I didn't get the answer to my question, the woman on the other side was yelling at me and telling me to be quite and not interrupt her, then she started speaking Spanish only because of my name I told her to speak English because even though I speak Spanish, it is not my native language. I work in Customer service and let me tell you , this is unacceptable if they don't like what they do they should seek a different job and give the opportunity to someone else that really can do the work and respect the callers that need the help. Social security office needs to do some cleaning with the people they have working there.

Tosin Koya-Kuku: I cannot wait till I don't have anything further to do with these people. They all give different information and can often be rude/short. It's been awful working with them! They really need to improve their customer service! UPDATE: They completely lost all of my sensitive documents and aren't at all apologetic. I really wish I had no business with these irresponsible people!

S N: My appointment was quick and fast. Staffs are friendly and responsive. I recommend to book an appointment before visit. I arrived 30 mins before my appointment. I had to wait for only 5 mins outside and staffs let me in. All my work done in 15 mins.

Roxana Landaverde: Horrible customer service the people behind the window make it experience almost to impossible to write a good review they are so rude. And already ready make a judgment about your situation. I was there to get a replacement card for my son and the guy was so rude he had a awful attitude. Unfortunately that’s the o my location near me so I have to come back.

Sviatoslav Dutka: I’ve been trying to call this place and other places around for 5 business days and the only thing i can hear is that they are enable to accept my call. When call main phone for SSA the line just drop every time. I’ve came to the office to schedule that f… appointment for the name change and the security didn’t let me in lol. This is a joke. Those … enjoying covid, so they barely do anything.

Donnell Finnaman: I called social security office to find out my SSDI situation, FYI I’m deaf so this guy just got on phone saying reason why I’m not getting money because I’m still working, I asked him to see if he can look my information in their system, he snapped at me saying I need to fax the form to that place from work, I was like I wasn’t working ever since June then I explained my situation, he just cut me off transfer me to someone else but he knew this person wasn’t there! Customer service sucks and surprised it still there

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Debbie Morgans: I was there early on a Monday morning at 8:00 am to get in line. Doors opened at 9:00 and I was out of there by 9:45! Great new building with appropriate Covid precautions. Staff I dealt with were friendly and answered all my questions. Very fast and efficient experience.

Joanna Stover: What is the matter with this country? I was told by SS rep to call at 9:00 am to get an appointment to submit original documents in person. I have been on hold for 40 minutes and have not heard one word or recording that I am connected. The least an office can do is to let the caller know what the call status is. It's unbelievable.

Madhu Debnath: Why don't you pick up if you are saying that you are phone service only?! Ridiculous! So many people in this country depend on social security admin services for so many things. I am shocked to see that they don't even bother to pick up the phone. Also, at least make your website more informative. I have a simple task to complete and I can't find any information anywhere. The website specifically says that I have to contact a field office for this. My career and livelihood are at risk here because of your incompetence.

زكي الحمصي: The security treats people with contempt under the pretext of covid 19 and says an appointment and people are not allowed to ask employees

darwish sahil: The state reps and senators seriously need to take an action and observe the social security office responsibilities in person. Off course they’re federal funded, but they are truly wasting Virginia residents time. The personnel are super rude and unprofessional. Their working policy and website just sucks!! One will follow the website direction and wait in brutal hot and humid day for hours and hours to get his work done. But, when you get in, a very cheap and rude worker will claim that you are wrong and I don’t know about website I can’t help, you better leave don’t waste my time. But he has no clue that a family with three young kids waited outside for hours to get in and has all documents in hand for name change purpose, but get reject in one minute and he won’t listen to you and won’t accept your documents such as passport, court order or at least look at it. The Worst part is there is no supervisor, everyone is a boss. It’s time to bring a change and assign some responsible people in the office and take care of all Virginians with respect, care and satisfaction.

Christina Lee: I got lucky getting through on the phone after no luck at Reston, but thanks to Ms Ford for acknowledging my unusual situation and getting me in for an appointment at my insistence. They let appointments in at 1pm sharp, but then don't give you a call number at the window so you kind of have to be assertive and just walk up to a window when they say "next" because there's no actual way of knowing who is next. Hope SSA figures out how to move a lot of things to online self-service since most offices seem to be slammed.

Don Juan: Get there 20 minutes early. I waited more than an hour in line just to sit some more inside. They need to just close the building if they’re this heavily understaffed. Even the DMV was a more pleasant experience during COVID.

shante dundee: One of the WORST places to try and get help. If I could have put 0 stars I would have. The phone lines open at 9am, I called about 905am and was able to speak to a live agent. Of course, not only was the agent rude and seemed irritated with my call, soon after asking to speak to a supervisor, I was told that there isn’t one and she hung up the phone. I then call back, now this time waiting on the phone for about 25 minutes or so. Finally someone answers the phone but all I can hear on the other line is the sound of people talking in the background. When I say hello, the phone disconnects again. The sad part is, there is no one to check and make sure that the social security employees are being respectful and trying to help the person in need to the best of their ability. It’s frustrating that for months now I’ve been trying to get help and still have yet to get it. I’ve tried going up to the office, making an appointment but was told that what I need help with, they currently are not assisting people in person, only particular cases. Not only is it unhelpful but it’s a burden to continue to call, just to get incomplete answers, hang up calls and disrespect. If you have to contact this office in anyway, good luck getting a clear, concrete answer. Every time I do speak to someone, the result and answer is always different, even though the problem is still the same. In need of help and they do not care.

danceswithcars w: 1st visit at new location, used to be down Edsall near ServiceSource/LMEC but moved, don't know when... Line outside, I was 8th then woman jumped line at pole. Guy fell, tripod chair but OK. no bike parking there so locked to bench nearby. No food allowed, supposed to mask even in line which wouldn't self distance at 6' each. Cold to be outside but 0900a arrived, Staff woman came out and gave instruction, interrupted by people in the back of the line who couldn't hear, welcome to NY I think I said, like heckled or something, Ellis Island: give us your tired sick poor, well the talk: they administer the disabled system in USA (Medicare too?) And person next to you may be stage 4 cancer so careful mask up for them. Inside few 6' spots to stand at, then room guy there PuertoRico hat & mask did my bene letter saving me 5 minutes in another line. 6' chairs blocked out, bathroom inside but left, woman outside asking get soc sec card for husband, idk how. Asian Guy took photo I yelled no photos he did anyways, other oddities. Y(M|Km|nm)MV

Erdeniz Ozgun Bas: It's 94 degrees outside. They are letting very small amount people inside due to COVID-19. There's no covering, shade or water outside. I called SSA customer service to let them know. The rep reached out to the manager who did nothing. This is inhumane. If someone dies that's going to be due to heat. Not covid.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Marc Carns: Wow!! Great service! Amazingly fast. Extremely nice people. I sent my paperwork in to get a replacement document. I made an error and it needed to be fixed in person. I showed up, signed in, waited no more that three minutes, and they resolved my issue in less than 5 minutes. Thanks so much!!!

A McDaniel Hamilton: I came here this morning to get some paperwork completed for my case. We burned a total of about 3 hours to get everything that we needed completed and signed. Everything though is completely accomplished..!! This location seemed to be on it's a game today as I observed multiple customers being helped quickly and timely. I also observed some of the customers being ignorant and disrespectful after waiting just five or ten minutes. I had already been sitting there an hour and was not this disrespectful with the people who were supposed to be helping us complete the paperwork that we need to get started in the system. The individual that we dealt with was great. She is, in my opinion, the best representative of this agency I have ever come across. Her name is Ms. Witten and she explained everything that we needed to have done and she helped me to execute the documents in a timely fashion while I sat there and her presence. As I sat in the office waiting my turn, I really enjoyed meeting this representative who was kind who was considerate and who listen to me as I explained what I needed to have done. In a word, awesome!

Thang Piang: I loved the location, but one thing when you call them by phone, you have to wait about 15 minutes to get answer. When they answer the phone, and I responce them back and say "Hello", but the phone hang up very often. Also, wish to have more polite in communication!

Benoit Ndzomo: Agent at the counter was horrible. No customer skill at all. I can't go there anymore nor I will recommend a relative. Instead, I will visit the office in my area.

Jeremy Ark: This place is a Bernie Sanders utopia. If your wondering what nationalized healthcare would look like, take a visit to this place. Long wait times, bad attitudes, and terrible service. But it’s free! I needed a replacement SS card for one of my kids. I did some research on the SS website before I went to make sure I brought the required documents. The SS website says “In general, you must provide your birth certificate...” and provides several alternatives including a religious document so I brought a birth certificate and a baptismal certificate. After waiting 40 mins with only 2 people in the entire waiting room my number was called and I went to the counter. A young woman with a bad attitude says “do you have certified medical records?” I said no I brought the BC and Baptismal document. She said “we don’t accept those”. I showed her the list of approved documents from the SS website and she said that wasn’t correct and pulled out an old photocopy that said it wasn’t. I left and drove to the doctors office who printed out a statement on their letterhead and signed the document. I went back and they accepted the most easily forgeable document I had.

Rohan Salvi: Only 1 person goes per appointment … Very bad at talking over telephone.. You will see a security guard lady that opens the door once every hour …

Gabrielle Keener: I hate dealing with anyone here they never do anything to help you there always snobby and I’ve been doing this for over a year trying to get a social security card

Juhi Moon: Got there at 8am and sat in the car as no one was in line. One person started to form a line at 8:30 so I had to get out of my car in the cold. Opened at 9 am and there were about 15 people in line behind me. Once inside, checked in on kiosk to get a number. I was second in line and entered at 9 am and was seen at 9:30. I was missing a document (medical clinic stamped medical record - pediatrician appt) so I had to leave and come back. When I came back about 20 min later ( kaiser permanente around the corner) I had to get a number again. I waited about 20 minutes and was in and out quickly. I would not recommend waiting in line outside as they are pretty efficient. The security guard was firm yet nice and just wants everyone to keep their phone on silent, but she was helpful and nice. I would come back to this location. I only gave it 4 starts bc the first associate I had was not helpful in telling me what do next when I did not have a clinic visit summary with my son's name AND birthdate on it. The second associate was MUCH better.

Andrea Murphy: Terrible experience, manager of office and workers are nasty, workers does not seem to care about people who need to come to them for help. I was accused by several of having fraudulent paperwork after purchasing it from vital statistics and showing receipt, I was still accused. After getting help from a worker at the vital statistics office verifying that i could not have done what i was accused of , they finally gave me what I came for. At the end of there day. I would suggest you not go there and travel to another facility. They are not helpful. They will turn you away and create more problems for you., They need more training on acceptable paperwork.

JANA SMITH: Customer service is horrible....if you talk to 5 different people they will give you 5 different instructions. We have been waiting 7 months for a new borns social security card/number.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Julia Moncada: Last week I went to apply for my daughter's SSN. All the staff were friendly and attentive. It does not take more than 20 minutes for the entire procedure. Diana Rivera was excellent with me and answered all my questions. I went without an appointment and everything went fast and positive. I got the number today. They were very fast and timely. Thank you!!!! 🇺🇸😉🇻🇪

Alicia Robison: I don’t usually write bad reviews, but my experience with this office could not go unmentioned. It is extremely difficult to get through to the office. I would be fine with a wait time…that is completely understandable especially while their offices are closed. However, I waited for about 30 min to then just have the line disconnect after what sounded like someone picking up. The next time I tried to call, the line was busy for about an hour. Then it disconnected again after saying the call could not be completed at this time. When I finally did get someone on the phone after multiple attempts and several hours total of wait time, the lady cut me off mid question saying what she thought was the answer to my question (it wasn’t) and hung up on me. During the brief conversation I had with her, she raised her voice, interrupted me, and sighed several times. It would be understandable if I had been unreasonable or aggressive but I was trying to ask a simple question about the name change process that I still, after all of that, did not get an answer to. I will be talking to the regional commissioner today. If I am having this kind of trouble navigating this process as a younger, intelligent person then I cannot imagine how some of our elderly are coping with this lack of direction, unprofessionalism, and outright rudeness.

Lou Canonico: I had to visit Reston SSN office today. Like others I had been trying to reach someone on the phone for months with no success at all. I didn’t have an appointment. I dreaded going but was very pleasantly surprised. I showed up at around 10 on Thursday. There was no line. Security guard showed where to check in. Got my number and before I could even sit down was called to a window. The lady who helped me was pleasant and professional. Got what I needed and was done in 10 minutes. I guess I got lucky and hit it right.

Shannon Auth: It has now been FIFTEEN MONTHS since my daughter was born, and I never received her social security card in the mail. After following up on this countless times, I was told by two different phone reps that I needed to mail in or night drop MY original birth certificate, her ORIGINAL birth certificate, proof of life with photo from a doctor, and a copy of my driver's license. I told them I didn't trust that I would get my original documents back, so they told me I needed to drive to Richmond to get proper copies to give them. I asked for an appt to clear this up but they said they were only scheduling appt for actual emergencies. They could not give me her social security number because I had not yet received the original card (therefore, I still have no idea what her ss number is). When speaking with one rep I was told that she was breaking the rules by even telling me that they can see my applications in their system, because only my local office should discuss these things with me- I mean, what?! they can't even confirm if they received and/or mailed my documents?? Didn't phase them one bit that we've had to get assistance due to covid and that they ended any assistance benefits for my daughter because I still don't have her social. I've gone through this process of sending documents in multiple times now and after multiple attempts STILL do not have a social security card for her. I've even received my certified copies back in the mail accompanied by a letter stating they received my application and I should receive her card within two weeks. It's now May and I still cannot even file taxes. I either wait on hold for 30+minutes- hours, or get hung up on as soon as I'm connected. Who actually has the means to call over and over and deal with this horrible level of service?? Also, I found that there is an office ten minutes from me, but they have told me I cannot be helped there, because according to my zip code, I must only speak with the Manassas branch, which is an HOUR from my house. This is absolutely infuriating!

JB: They failed to process my social security card name change for two months. They NEVER answer the phone (also no voicemail option). During COVID restrictions, there was no way to get an appointment with the office to get an update. After months of waiting, including calling over and over during business hours and emailing the SSA national office, I thought to call the Baltimore SSA office. Right away someone answered and informed me that my application was logged soon after I sent it in but nothing happened with it. There was no issue with my application and they even had “too much documentation” from me. It was just sitting there. He said my best bet was to take a day off work and wait in line. On the second day they were open for walk-ins, I got in and an SSA rep confirmed that the application was never processed. I explained that this had negatively affected me (think of all the things you can’t do or have without a valid SSN card…like file your taxes or get a new drivers license). He offered nothing but a letter confirming my name change (which I can’t do anything with) that I had to come back to pick up the next week. I asked the manager if she could help somehow but instead she was rude and condescending; I was wasting her time with the problems her office had caused in my life. The best part? I’m still waiting for my card….

Sophia Saib: Very helpful thus far. It’s our first time here and the gentleman in the uniform at the door was so kind, helpful and willing to help. As I sit here waiting for the appointment time, I’m watching him speak to other people at the waiting room and he speaks so politely. Back home, (I love my country) but I have never seen such respect displayed in a public department.

Kris Savi: I applied for my baby’s social security card over a month ago and I sent my ID card, certified birth certificate and hospital records of the baby to establish identity but I didn’t get my ID card, nor any other documents back! How I can call you or email you. When I want to call you, I always wait 45-50 minutes. None of the representatives know anything. Very disappointed!

Eileen Milligan: If there was minus 5 stars that would be right. How can a service be helpful if they NEVER answer the phone. How can you book an appointment to fix what is wrong when no one answers to make an appointment. What is so sad is I am trying to help someone that is disabled survive and this process is just so unbelievably difficult. I feel sad for those without family support and for those that are disabled trying to survive on no funds because NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE.

Charlie Duffy: This office should be open for in person work, even if they want us to wear masks. They don't answer their phone at 10:40 AM on a standard work day. This is the worst run Agency in the Federal Government (and that's a very tall order). Congress needs to force this crucial Agency to do their job - period!

sash m: wow, such a great experience here. maybe 'cause I went at a time that wasn't too busy. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Everything was resolved during my visit. Everyone I interacted with was pleasant.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Jessica Wendt: I had a great experience with this office. Yes, you have to wait until someone answers the phone, it took about 20 minutes. Person on the other end was very pleasant to speak with. I had to wait about one and a half weeks for someone else to call me back to schedule, but the appointment was right the next day after the phone call. Also a very nice lady on the phone. The experience at the office was quick and the employee was very helpful. My husband and I came in for updates on citizenship and name change. So overall the experience was great.

pankaj sharma: My experience at this place was flawless right from making a call for appointment to service at appointment itself. When I called for appointment I was told that someone will call me for it. It took some time but I did got a call and appointment was next day. When I reached, the person serving me at the counter made it happen quickly. I think a lot of the complaints I see here is because of Covid. We all are trying our best to survive it.

Katie Lowery: I have a court order for my daughter's name change and I have been calling for months to try to speak with someone and schedule an appointment and I ALWAYS get hung up on. I have yet to reach an agent to speak to. If we had not recently moved I would still be able to go to the Reston location which is amazing. They always answer their phones and are so helpful, but sadly because of my zip code are unable to assist me with the changes. I am not sure what to do at this point.

Lisa Peterson: If i could give them zero stars I would. I have spent 9 months calling this office to clear up social securities' mistake for reporting that my elderly mother had died, when she had not. They never answer the phone and only after numerous messages left, do they finally call back. I have been told over and over that my mom will start to receive her monthly SS check, and I receive letters in the mail stating this, but the checks never come. Now they have mistakely reported that her Medicare has been canceled. These people have created this huge problem and yet no one can solve it. My mom is about to run out of money, and they won't even call me back. Very incompetent! This has been the biggest nightmare.

Discover Granite and Marble: I was trying to make an appointment for one of our employees for an EIN number. Waited on the line approximately 23 minutes. All I heard were ring tones and what sounded like someone was about to pick up. All of a sudden the phone line disconnected. Terrible service. I now understand what all the bad reviews are about. Management needs to take a SERIOUS look at all the bad comments. If I allowed the phones to ring that many times and kept a client on hold, I'd be fired!! At my office I always pick up the calls on the first ring and always keep my word as to when they will receive a call back if I'm on another line with a client. They should send their employees to me for phone etiquette training. They could learn a lot!!!

Norrie Fowler: This is the worst SSA office I've ever dealt with. Their incompetence has quite literally cost me money. Now they are costing me time as well as I attempt over the course of days to get through to them, get an actual human to answer the phone who does not immediately disconnect the line rather than answering it. I have sent faxes and letters via FedEx. I have receipts proving they received my communications but they simply do not act upon them. Nor do they make any effort to contact me and follow-up. My efforts disappear into the void of gross incompetence and negligence of duty.

Sanjay Patel: Terrible. I have been trying to call them for over a week, multiple times a day. Always put on hold and usually no one picks up. If someone does pick up, they hang up before I can respond. Update 2022/03/22 -- I raised the rating to two because once you actually get a hold of someone, the process became a lot better. The lady that finally answered my call was very polite and knowledgeable. I had to go in to finalize the process. They called me back a couple of weeks later to schedule a meeting to submit my documentation that also went very smoothly.

Leonard Pumphrey: I dreaded going to the S.S Office as I had only heard terrible things about the Manassas Office. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and was relieved when there was no line outside as I have often seen. I was greeted and directed to a registration machine upon entering the building. My wait time was about a half an hour and the staff member helping me with my concern worked quickly and professionally. It was a very good experience, and my concern was handed promptly. I was in and out in less than an hour.

Em H: If I can put 0 with this office I will, I call to make appointment and after 15 minutes someone pick up the phone, but very unprofessional and very rude doesn’t allowed me to talk. After getting my info and putting me on hold for another 10 minutes and getting my info again and make me wait for another 10 minutes to just say to me that the manager will call me back to give me appointment. I’m so flabbergasted that they couldn’t even make appointment for you and that need the manager do it, it’s beyond ridiculous that as simple as making appointment they can’t do it. Very rude they shush you couldn’t even talk and ask questions. Our government employs the laziest and rudest people to deal with the citizens who pays taxes.

Michell Paredes: If I could go ahead and give 0 stars I would, I called for a WHOLE WEEK and NEVER got a hold of anyone, I understand lines are busy etc, but every time I was put in hold they would hung up on me or the call would get disconnected. When someone finally pick up one of the numerous calls I made, first of all very rude, treating me like I was dumb, being very impatient, when all I just need it was to make an appointment to go into the office, THAT WAS ALL instead of him explaining the situation to me just told me I needed to wait 10 days for someone to contact me to schedule a simple appointment. It was the worst experience of all.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Taylor Roberison: Needed my name change after marriage. No other SSA office answered but them. The sweet lady on phone let me know I only needed to mail my passport, application plus copy of my marriage certificate in for a name change. Mailed it in on a Friday, and it arrived on a Monday. Got my name changed and original documents back on Thursday. Super fast and easy process. Deserves more than 5 stars!

Matheus Riqti: I live in Mountain View, CA and I applied for Social Security Number in local office but I don't have received yet the card. I already called the local office, they said the card was sent from Social Security Headquarter Baltimore and it will take 14 days. I also asked the local office they said it was already sent on April 15, 2022. This is already more than 14 days and I'm not received the card yet. What happen? Why you take so long?

dhanesh misir: Lazy, incompetent crooks. Spent months waiting with no progress, getting the runaround. Then suddenly they double charge me for processing, and when fraud protection stopped it, they cancelled the whole thing. It is a shame these people have jobs

Laasia Howard: Sooo unprofessional I been waiting for my paperwork since January I finally get my paperwork in March but the deadline to get it back to them ends tomorrow like how is that and then there’s no fax number also I can’t even contact them cause of the number they have on file doesn’t ring or anything

Leah Vandoloski: Sent requests for W-2 copies 8 months ago. No word until I checked in on it 2 months ago and I was told there was no further info. Got paperwork today saying they could only send info for one of the years requested. Of course, no refunds. So you blindly mail in a request with your card info, they charge it, and you wait for months without even knowing if you'll get what you requested. A waste of time and money. Customer service reps were nice enough though.

Camille Gustus: They agent was so nice and patient with me. She forwarded my call to my case workers private line for me to leave a detailed message. I very hopeful that they will assist me in having my payment expedited because of the uncertainty of how much longer I have. I’m very grateful for the assistance that I received.

Enoh Christine: The service here is very friendly and quick

Consumer Resource: Phone service is the worse. Representatives are so unprofessional and short with responses. I guess they want to get back to the television program they were watching before they took the call. I hate calling here but its the office I'm supposed to call as it relates to my address. I wish there were oversight and regular observations of calls.

CJ Gemini: Arrived around 930 didn't get seen until 955. Staff is decent at best. My only tip is to CALL before going. Advise what you need done and ask EXACTLY what you need to bring. After that get a name of who you spoke to. One person told me one thing when I got there, a rep over the phone told me another after I left.

Noreen Mingey: I just got off the phone with a customer service rep named Terry. I intended to take the survey after the call but forgot and hung up. I'd like to just tell someone how professional, helpful and courteous Terry was to me. Wish I knew his last name but hopefully there's only one Terry in that unit. Thank you.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Matt G: My SS Card was mailed to the wrong address, and there is no way to update your address online. You have to mail in an application and a government ID (not a copy) and wait for them to get it and hope they send it back with the SS card. I opted to go in person and was told by the armed security guard that wearing a mask inside is the law which it is not. They made me leave the facility, would not speak to me, and said they could have the police come and arrest me for trespassing. The folks who walked in after me, a married couple, were made to sit six feet apart in their empty waiting room and two employees came out to the waiting room without masks on. This is a great way for govt employees to do even less work by putting in place these nonsense restrictions. Why do they even have armed security to begin with?

David Md: Words can't describe my particular representative. She could not understand my issue. Could not have cared less. Was dismissive. I understand good people are hard to find and employ at this point in history but my issue was pretty simple. A large overpayment of Medicare premiums and how to get that overpayment back. No offer to investigate. Took no information from me.

Eric Hofmann: It is extremely upsetting since the birth of my child that I have yet to receive the SS#. They "apparently" sent out my child's number and card via USPS two weeks after the birth of our child. But 7 months later, we have yet to receive it. After waiting 4 months for it. We decided to call the Annapolis office for answers. First two attempts, two women hung up on me. The third attempt, a gentleman was nice enough to walk through the process of the SS-5 information. After filing the SS-5 form and submitting original documentation, I am still struggling to receive the information we need. Still to this day, 7 months since the birth of my child, we have yet to receive her information. The trust in both this office and the USPS has been lost. I would greatly appreciate if hopefully someone from SSA reads this and contacts me to help with my child's identification number.

MM HVAC: So there is a maximum of 6 people allowed in the SSA. When it reaches compacity you must wait outside. This info is not posted for you to see until you are inside the lobby. Last week I witnessed a handicapped elderly man having difficulty walking with a walker and clearly having breathing issues ask the security officer if he could either sit inside the breezeway or could he get a chair so he could sit down. The officer stated they would check with Management and then came back after checking and told the man NO per management. When I got inside there were several chairs NOT in use. Its a disgrace that they would not offer him a seat. Shame on a Federal Agency treating Elderly and Handicapped people so poorly. DO BETTER SSA MANAGEMENT!

Nena Rivera: The worse experience ever over a phone. I am really patient and understandable with this kind of call I have been really nice explaining my situation and he hand out on my two time. I do not understand how he can answer the phone with that actitud

kristi anderson: How are COVID restrictions in any way relevant to which office I can visit? I was told that only people in Annapolis zip codes can visit the Annapolis SSA office. i would love to see the federal COVID guidelines that say I can only visit one specific federal office. Is there a special COVID-free bubble in Annapolis? One star because a gentleman did answer the phones, however, he hung up on me when I challenged the policy that discriminates by geography.

Lia Cortez: I am APPALLED at the level of poor, rude, unhelpful service being provided by most government offices now a days. SSA not being the exception. I called my local SSA office in Annapolis, MD for a question, and I literally get a “I’m not dealing with you” and an immediate hang up after asking a following up question to what I needed. I don’t think I was even 30 seconds into the conversation. Did I even get a name or any sort of identification to report this person? No. If you even try calling back, the call itself hangs up after a few minutes wait time. What if I ran my business the way these offices ran these offices now a days? These are taxpayer funded offices that are set to provide a SERVICE that we fund through our taxes, yet are treated as an inconvenience. Sickening!

Damien Pollard: I am a non national that gained legal resident status and applied to the D.H.S. and the S.S.A. with the same form, the D.H.S. got my information correct but the S.S.A. got my date of birth wrong. So I followed the procedure and mailed in my documents. I then got my documents and new card back within 4 weeks. I then found out that the information had not been updated. So I rang the Annapolis office and was told to repeat the process. I did so. Got my documents and new card back. I then found that once again my information had not been updated. I rang the Annapolis office 5 days in a row, and left a message with a member staff every day. Each time being told they "will contact me by end of day with an update" it was only when I continued to ring and ask for a specific member of staff that they were somewhat cooperative. I eventually got told to repeat the process AGAIN. Given the fact that the staff there can't remember to ring someone back or even process information correctly I am forced to go to another branch. Absolutely disgraceful, the staff there are by all outward appearances less than useless.

Jesus Marroquin: I call to get some information and the lady who I speak to was so nice ,she was trying to help me with what I need…unfortunately they can’t help me this time ..but I will come back when I have all the papers I need ..

John Lynch: On the few occasions that I had to deal with the Annapolis Social Security office, I always a very good and professional response. You have to expect to wait so be prepared to do so. In the current COVID-19 environment all transactions are conducted verbally over the phone and/or fax. I recently had an issue with Medicare Part B IRMA payment and I was given expert advice by Mr. Hawkins in the Annapolis office. Mr Hawkins called me back personally and professionally addrssed my concerns. I followed the advice offered by Mr. Hawkins and within 3 weeks the Social Security Administration lowered my IRMA to the proper level. Had it not been for Mr. Hawkins counsel, I would be paying much more for Part B. It is nice to know we have professionals in our local Social Security office.

Jameelah T: Please go to another SSA to get your service, trust me it’s worth it. Took me days to get in touch with them to change my name, and now it’s taking over two months for me to get my information back. I should have known that it would’ve been better if I had gone somewhere else, especially since an office further from me answered the first time I called. Don’t waste your time here.

S. Hari: This is one of the garbage government office ever I have been. They said need to make appointment by phone to get the service and I continue dialed their phone after and after. After the long boring automated answer, when their phone rings they hung up the phone without answering. When no one answer the phone, how we can make appointments? Government should close this location and spend that budget for people in need. No any employees deserve government salaries from this office.

Barbara Groont: Reasonable waiting time. Very good COVID precautions. Very organized. Staff very professional, friendly, knowledgeable! Tiffany was my Tech & was great! Security officer at door very effective & pleasant. Ms Walton (? Sp) Mngr very nice . Thank you!!!

Asante Forde: If I could give ZERO stars I would!! This is the WORSE OFFICE EVER. My son was born 12/2021 & I have yet to receive his social security card. The phone lines DO NOT WORK SO DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME TO EVEN CALL! This has been the worse experience and I can’t do nothing without my sons social security card. For something so important you would think that it would be easy to get in touch with somebody and it is not. Something needs to be done about this. This is stressful and ridiculous. As many bad reviews that are posted I don’t see how nothing has been changed, smh.

Ismael Rosado: Worst security office I've ever been. Avoid at all cost. Office is lock and they only will see you by appointment only. But you can't reach then on the phone and they won't let you in to make an appointment. Also security guard got some attitude, if she don't like her job advise to get another one. But I guess since they don't have any body inside nobody is working. STAY AWAY

Steven N: I am guess it’s not just me with the problems. Going on almost A YEAR without having a SS and not being able to work. Everytime, IF we reach someone, IF they don’t hang up on us will give us a new or random excuse. No. No other SS office will work with you. They will all tell you to call whatever county you live in. The manager of the annapolis office felt bad for our situation and even emailed the Glen bernie office. About to file an official complaint to OIG. We have officially been to that office, had the interview and paid. I can confidently say this is theft.

Habib Keita: I wonder why this office is still open. The Pandemic changed everything we understand that but what has not changed is how we rely upon SSA service. I have been calling for the last 2 months every day 6 to 7 times, no one responds, each time I get hung up on. Does this office management even checks their reviews? Unbelievable for a government entity

Lotus Holistic Healing: Absolutely terrible! They are obviously trying their best not to help anyone!! Their phones have been off Monday and Tuesday (today.) I went to the office the security guard came out and told me the phones work, even though they don't. After that a family who had an appointment scheduled, and another woman who came to the office because the phone is off came to the door knocking. The security guard just looked at them and did not answer. I called about 2 weeks ago. When the phones were working and was told I would be called to schedule an appointment, and I had to cal and speak to 3 different people in order to be put on the call back list. The first person tried to tell me the offices were completely closed not seeing anyone, and the second person kept telling me they couldn't schedule me an appointment. Finally the third said that they would call me back so I could apply for a new card and get a form with my name and social security number saying I applied for a nee card. I have not been called back. I tried to cal several times last week and was put on hold for a long time until they hung up. Now their phones are completely off! They are trying their best not to help anyone! Should be 0 stars. This is terrible. People have pertinent needs for social security cards and other social security serves!

Dynasty Simms: They never answer the phone , its sad then you can't go in office without a appt.but how can u get a appt if they never answer the phone , I have to call the baltimore location for them to transfer me and they still don't answer something needs to be done asap

Tracy Feggins: After several attempts on trying to contact the Seabrook office I gave up and called the Glen Burnie location and didn’t have to wait for a representative for more than 10 minutes. Scheduled an appointment, arrived the next day and the lady who helped me was very nice. I was out of the office within 15 minutes, very professional service. I enjoyed my experience

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

H B: I hadn't been able to get anyone on the phone to schedule an appointment due to their ongoing phone issues but I have to say I had one of the most pleasant visits to a government office ever here. I arrived early and there was a short line due to covid restrictions. Security was really nice and the person who assisted me was really nice and friendly. I was in and out within 30mins. It ended up being the exact opposite of what I expected.

Michael Reiber: Depends on who you get here, some care and are there to help you in anyway. Others are just there cause it's a paycheck. Also the folks at the front lobby desk are rude because many of the guest there are rude and nasty, I have found that if you approach them in kind they immediately respond in a respectful manner. Again not all of them care but it is what it is and I think of all the ss offices I have been to, Rosedale is the better of them.

Quashi Mensah: I visit was surprisingly well. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. The folks were knowledgeable and respectful. Thanks a lot for your service today.

Leah Comegys: I called five times in a row sat on the phone for what seems like forever and every time someone answers the phone they hang up. It's really sad customer service is nothing like it used to be. But let's blame it on the phone system, a government agency that can't get it's phone system right... yeah makes total sense 🤣

B. Theresa Coleman-Gibson: I have consistently attempted to reach someone at this office. When you call this GOVERNMENT AGENCY, it give you three busy rings and then hangs up! This is ridiculous!!!!!

Jennifer K: I realize they are doing appointments only once I got to the building. So I call the number to make one. Ms Broadway is telling me that they only do appointments if it's a dire need. I said I didn't want to mail them because mail has been running crazy and didn't trust that kind of paperwork floating around. So she then says appointments are for dire needs only and asked why can't I mail them?!? So I asked ok what is considered a dire need? Guess she didn't understand the part where I told her I didn't want to mail them cos the mail running crazy. Reviews are pointless cos nothing is ever done anyway but this was my experience.

CHRIS Bennett: I have been trying to call this office to ask a question and make an appointment for 3 weeks now. No one will answer the phone. Terrible

Fred Masilek: I ha e been trying to call this office after being told to by the main office that I was on hold for over an hour trying to get an answer about my Medicare part B which I have been trying to get since Dec 2021 called this office Over 200 trying today always busy PATHETIC service

nathan roberto: cant give it no starts its very sad ya know the government expects us to go to these people for help and they wont do there job right and that punk security guard

Monica Wooden: After having my child's SS card denied via the mail, I went in person for more info. I had been unable to get someone on the phone for 5 days straight. When I went in person I discovered the following: (1) due to COVID, it is appointment (appt.) only. I stood and watched an appt be denied. I called to speak with someone over the phone to see if I could fill the spot. Upon speaking to someone, I was informed that personnel provided me incorrect info for my child's mail-in application. Furthermore, I was informed that they could not schedule my appt. but that a supervisor had to call me to schedule it. I have now been waiting 3 weeks for a supervisor to call me to make an appt. I just called to attempt to schedule an appt again. This process is antiquated and needs to be updated.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Chris Davis: John was extremely helpful in getting my daughters SSI application completed and approved. He is always accessible and always friendly and helpful. He spent about 90 minutes on the phone with me completing the application and followed up quickly and has been able to answer questions after her approval as well. I have not had any experiences with anyone else at the office, but I certainly appreciate John's attentiveness and personal touch!

Lynn Fischer: Took two calls and a very long time on hold to get through, but the rep was polite and professional. Took care of my request. Very good service.

Bee R: Called to do a simple task and was very clear and concise of what I needed to do. I am a highly educated woman and was talked to like I was exceptionally daft. I clearly stated what I needed done (having done this a few times already) and because the man (who will remain unnamed) thought he knew more about me than I, he decided to give me misinformation and not help me. He talked to my husband and asked if my husband would give permission for him to talk to me referring to me as "girlfriend or whatever" to which my offended husband quickly corrected him and said WIFE- and after looking into the matter as he should have before he babbled on, he realized that it was a simple task and he could assist me. He then continued to apologize which would not have been necessary if he had stopped talking and listened in the first place. After I asked what could have made this smoother (for the next time) he "assured" me that it didn't matter bc he was helping me now which led me to believe that was his way of admitting he was wrong and further trying to correct the mess that was made. He stated "no one enjoys being governed" implying that everyone inquiring about something ss related is antigovernment. Here is the take away- Before you assume what someone needs, listen to them because they are TELLING YOU CLEARLY. People calling are not beneath you. A woman calling is not always a "girlfriend or whatever". People that call are not always the trash you assume and you shouldn't treat anyone differently anyway. People aren't calling bc they want to shoot the bull so just help them and move along. Absolutely not an establishment that should be operating in this manner. Maybe train your team on how to properly assist people and not belittle or embarrass them when they are calling about a simple task. Shame on you. You are here to help people not shame them.

Rebecca Welsh: Jim answers the phone. Yesterday he talked very fast and gave me conflicting information. I felt very uncertain about the experience so I called back today. He said, "Oh, you called in on the main line". Then he hung up!!! Who is he?????? What does he do????? HIS NUMBER ONE GOAL IS TO END THE CALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BY WHATEVER MEANS.

Steven Stewart: Tom was extremely helpful and pleasant. We got all of the information we needed and good advice. It was a great experience.

Bailey Bedillion: They don’t ever answer the phone🙄

Ali Hendi: Very quick service. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Sponge Simmer: Didnt change my address when needed.

Social Security Administration: what do users think?

MrJfaucett: My wife and son are disabled and we were lucky enough to get the nicest worker I have ever met. She took the time to slowly explain Everything to my wife that is Mentally and physically disabled. This worker treated my wife with respect and was very patient with her. Very Thankful for her- all these years later I will never forget how much it meant to my me And especially to my wife.

David Tyson: I don't care how unsatisfied you are with your job, or your life. If you're employed as a public servant you HAVE to serve the public. Letting your personal emotions and attitude affect the way you treat someone, is not very professional. A lot of the people who call ssa are trying to get information about a very important part of their lives. Most are seniors who don't have access to internet or the ability to navigate it if they do. If they are lucky enough to make it through your smokescreen of mostly irrelevant and certainly unsolicited information at the beginning of your phone service, they are rewarded with a person that is totally uncaring, impatient, rude, and never once thinks " what if this was my Mema". They are thinking about getting you off the phone ASAP whether your concerns have been fully addressed or not. There are other jobs out there that may go well with personalities like that.... But, this isn't one of them. Remember the movie with the bum holding the sign that said "hungry" .... Turned out he was God accessing the actions of his flock. God would sure be disappointed if he called SSA of Washington, N. C.

Marlon Norman: Today we had to go to this office after my mother recently passed just to finalize and ensure no more payments arrived that were not designated. -While there, we experienced some of the worst customer service ever. The guy who waited on us gave no eye contact nor showed any remorse for our loss. I know he/she does not have to have any sympathy but dang. We are going through such an unfortunate event and hate to be around any additional negativity. Thanks US Social Security Office for adding to our sadness....

Road trip photographer Through my eyes only: They put my social security name they use my name they falsified everything I need this resolved I'm going after Thomas slaymaker Kelly slaymaker Larry and Jerry these are the people that falsified my name on my mother's social security number I told you this last yesterday I need this resolved they keeping me away from my family

Tammy Kidd: My experience with a Ms Powell has been a great one , she is very helpful

Mark Respess: They NEVER answer the phone. Always at least a 45 minute wait and I simply cannot believe that they are that busy constantly.

William Howard: i am trying to call the washington nc 27889 office and the number has changed!!!!how can i find out my status of my disability if i can not reach them? sorry lazy people that work there!!

Ashley Brown: What kind of government business closes at 4? I mean seriously every other one closes at 5. I guess they just assume everyone will get off work in time to make it there, this is bs.

Kristina Mobley: Rude customer service!! Will not be going back

Timothy Burnette: This takes too long to talk to someone

US Social Security Administration: what do users think?

Ashley Johnson: I have made three attempts to help get a future soldier his SSN card and every attempt we never receive the SSN card in the mail. This place is really starting to become questionable in terms of what is happening to this individuals SSN.

Cj Underwood: I am convinced nobody works here - useless gov't operation as expected

Simple Photoshop Tutorials: Been calling this place for weeks and just get sent to voicemail every time. Not sure anyone is ever there…

GordonG: Be aware .... this place is not open to public Google map should have made it clear that this place is not for walk-in, but rather is a headquarter. The patrol guy is super nice and pointed us to a nearby office that helped us out. Hope Google Map can make it clear.
