Green Skate Lab: what do users think?

Anna V (Chapacatt): Skate park is likely great for advanced rider but not really great for anyone else. It’s very small and offer little other skating areas. It’s not easy to reach with public transportation, lacks real trash cans, I couldn’t find any restrooms nearby, no water fountains that I could find and seems to be overrun by teenagers who aren’t skating but blocking much of the skate area.

phil3636: A well built authentic good ol' fashioned concrete bowl complete with pool coping. Not your typical skate park- advanced users only. It's in a nice area with parking nearby.

Alex Erb: Super fun bowl

KimJong Un: Awesome place to skate super gnarly no scooter kids almost never full death box fun unforgiving and and the coping sticks out a ton but that's what makes it fun .

tommy martin: Went there and ripped it. Sweet spot nice people. Has a nice dog park too. Two thumbs up

Paul Meyers: Strongly recommend this bowl.

Robert McNeely: No good thanks to the mayor

Manuel Ortiz: Fun skatepark.

Shannon Vendemmia: Awesome

Shaw Skate Park: what do users think?

Don: One of the best parks in the DMV area. Can get super crowded a nice nights but early am is pretty empty. All new concrete and ramps, well designed. Only negative is the ground isn't completely level.

Sam0ny: It's a cool park. Pretty small, great for street skating. Has one small bowl that's great for beginners to learn how to pump and drop in. Good park for taking it easy and not doing to much extreme stuff. I went at 2:30pm for lunch and it wasn't too busy, maybe a dozen people. I was able to find a parking spot right next to it. My only critique is the floor around the bowl is very uneven. And I wish the hours were posted since it is a gated park with lights. Overall, great park. If you find yourself in DC, you should swing by.

Agustin Barg: Good design. Good materials. You can flow all over the park

phil3636: Edit: The park had been completely rebuilt in concrete now. Plenty of features at varying heights to suit both beginners/pros/old farts and a really fun bowl in the corner. There's pretty much everything you need here, from the fundamentals to some more quirky unique things (red slappy curb!) There is a bit of a crossroads in the middle of the park that can get quite hectic when it's busy. I wouldn't want to skate here when the kids have finished school. The level of skating by the locals here is ridiculous. Feels like a demo going down whenever I'm there. If you're in the area and need anything then Crushed Skateshop is the place, a 10 minute skate away 👍 #cementurians #1000skateparkchallenge Old review: A basic and limited park but plenty of space and flatground. Decent enough ledges and banks. Feels very 90's. It's the only park in central DC anyway! Nearby RFK park is a lot better and a little further out try Melrose and Powhatan Springs.

z06 mcnasty: Great park and good diverse people to all get along

Jonathan DeGange: Always good. I’m quite regular there.

NSTRIKER15: Enjoyed the new renovation. Could use a better parking lot but still pretty good

Jordan Anstatt: Fun, smooth park with decent flow. Two flatbar, lots of ledge options, and mellow transition. Good for learning tricks.

weston kinsey: Great hip rails and tranny. runup for the stairs is not amazing but other than that 5/5

Timothy Chen Allen: Nice place; not crowded. Skate structures are well-maintained. Basketball courts next door. Parking on street. No noticeable skate snobs; my 11 tear-old and his friends were comfortable here.

Fairfax Surf Shop: what do users think?

Allison Bishara: We had an outstanding experience with Liam here today. I am a clueless parent who thought my daughter might like a skateboard for her 4th birthday so we drove out to this shop in Fairfax. Liam spent a long time educating us about the gear and giving my daughter little lessons. All of this was happening while my 1 1/2 year old ran all around the shop, but Liam was patient and thorough. My daughter spent the rest of the afternoon practicing on her skateboard and loved it, because Liam made her feel comfortable and confident to try it. I never spontaneously write online reviews, but we had such a good experience that I wanted to share.
Response: Allison, I am glad Liam could help you today. Happy Birthday to your daughter!

Brendan Cruz: Went in to get my first skateboard. Jackson helped me from the very beginning and was the absolute best throughout the whole process. He walked me through each step and made me feel at ease. Would definitely highly recommend anyone looking to purchase their first skateboard to come here.
Response: Brendan, thanks so much for visiting our shop. We really appreciate your business.

Vivian Lu: Best skate shop in all of NOVA. I frequent here to buy wheels, bearings, and other skate gear. Today I finally bought one of the Aluminati boards (cruiser board made from recycled aircraft). Rode it for about an hour, and it packs a punch for a cruiser board! I recommend going here for reasonably priced skateboards or gear. The people there will always try to help you.

Andrew Arena: Highly recommend this great skate shop! Had just a wonderful, ideal shopping experience thanks to Jackson - the friendly, knowledgeable, helpful gentlemen who took care of us. Our son wanted his first skateboard for his 15th birthday today. Initially looked online… so many options, but how to choose? So glad I read a “choosing your first skateboard” article that advised NOT buying online, but visiting your local shop. We are SO glad we did! Jackson explained all the options that bewilder a beginner - deck widths, concavity, wheel hardness, etc… He explained the pros/cons of the choices in our budget, and even gave a quick getting started lesson to our son. Instead of picking potential junk online, we walked away with a perfect board, and the skills and confidence to get started…. He’s practicing Jackson’s lessons right now, and it’s working. From day one!! If you’re a first timer, save yourself the frustration…definitely go to your local shop, not online!! And no matter your level of experience, if you want a great selection, a great shopping experience, and knowledgeable helpful staff… definitely go to Fairfax Surf Shop!!! Today was our first time, but we’re now lifetime loyal customers, thanks Jackson and FSS!!!

Chandler Hutchinson: They guys Liam and Teo are really great and they make u feel like a skater and a family member instead of a customer! Much love for the shop and the quality of the work the guys put out for us as a customer! Will always come here!
Response: Chandler, we are glad you are part of the family.

Charles Corson: My daughter got her first skateboard here! Staff were friendly and helpful. Good selection of decks and quality trucks and wheels.
Response: Charles, thank you very much for supporting our local shop. We hope your daughter enjoys her new board!

Afia K: I went in there with my friend and i brought in my long board. It wasn't fixed properly but the guy at the back with the wheels fixed it up all nice for me (wish i got his name he was super cool) and they gave me free stickers too! Go here if you want skate gear or want a board put together theyll get you right! Thanks guys 💛
Response: Afia, so glad we could help you with your long board! Thanks for visiting our shop. Much appreciated.

Spencer “Spe” Martin: Cool shop, nice inventory. Seems like the best local shop in the area.
Response: Spencer, thanks for taking time to write a review. Much appreciated

Rashawd Smith: Teo and Jake were very knowledgeable and patient with me and my kids. Skateboarding has DRASTICALLY changed since I was a kid so now I found that I know exactly zip about anything other than balancing. Teo fixed our old boards, changed over the trucks and wheels. Jack hooked us up with some new boards and gear. The Vibe was cool and my kids are VERY happy with the purchases. The inventory is super diverse and if I still had good knees I would have gotten a board for myself!!! They have a board for everyone and knowledge for all who want to learn. Also I would highly recommend the skate camp that Fairfax Surf Shop manages. My kids are loving that as well and now they can skateboard better than when I tried to teach them. 5 Stars well deserved. Cheers!!
Response: Rashawd, thanks very much for your detailed review. Very much appreciated!

Landon sk8s Bigboy ramps: Wide variety of decks wheels trucks and bearings supports some of the best local skaters sick shop
Response: Landon, thanks so much for taking time to write a review. See you back in the shop soon.

Lake Fairfax Skate Park: what do users think?

Scott Watkins: Great little skate park. Lights, concrete and outstanding coping all around. Plenty of parking, walk up and enjoy. A real gem hidden away next to the fields and RV park in the larger Lake Fairfax park.

Shennequia Downey: First I want to say that this place is beautiful, me and my husband have spent two weekend in a row. The staff here are very pleasant, they have plenty of activities for the family and the environment of people on the campground are pleasure to be around. The bathroom are clean and private. The camp is kept clean. I will be returning.

Jason C: Spent the weekend camping and hiking at the campground. Decent place to camp surrounded by the city. The place was packed and for some reason, the park didn’t open the showers all weekend. Other than this, things were good for a quick getaway.

Muj Mas: A great place for family picnic with several grill and tables, shelter and toilets. The lake is beautiful and fishing is allowed.

Stephen Lundberg: Lake Fairfax has a lot to offer. For this area, it's one of the best parks that you can go to. Lake Fairfax is close to home for me. I love going there and taking walks. To my knowledge, it also has some of the best mountain bike trails in the area. I'm familiar with the paths now, but I remember when I first started visiting how I could get lost. In like it's a huge risk considering that it is an oasis inside of a major metropolitan area, but it's kind of neat to find a spot large enough to get turned around if you're not paying attention. As for tent camping, I don't think that you will find anything more luxurious than this. I'd say that about a third of the campsites have electrical outlets. As far as the bathrooms go, I haven't been in a campsite that has better. Each door you open on the facility has one toilet, one sink, a shower and a three-seater bench to sit down on. There is plenty of space inside of each one. If I remember correctly, there are six bathrooms, each about 12 x 12 ft. I definitely recommend visiting if you enjoy the outdoors.

Nick Lamb: 5 stars for the mountain bike trails. 4 stars is really only because the water park lines are always ridic. But overall a good place to skate too even though I don’t skate.

Damian: One of the best skate parks in the area, wear protection kids and be safe.

Wayne Cox / Actor: It's such a fun park for street skating, You can fly around the outskirts and hit obstacles or the stairs and rails in the middle. It has a really great bowl and there's so many types of skaters there and everyone is really laid back.

Lane Rolling: Another one of the best skateparks in Virginia. They have all different kinds of obstacles for your skate board needs. The park does have lights but they go off at 930. If your in fairfax Virginia I would definitely check out this park and have some fun. They have a bowl as well.

simon malouf: I love the flow bowl there and the level of skating I saw during my visits was amazing. Great skatepark whether you like street or transition skating

Wakefield Park: what do users think?

Laura Kachelmeyer: We came here as a launching spot for a walk, which I wouldn't fully recommend. The skate park and fields all looked well kept and families were out having fun-- so thumbs up to those amenities if that's your destination. But our purpose was to park and access the walking paths and I think there might be better places to start at. The paved path around the fields only links to the paved path along the creek via an unpaved, well worn, grooved dirt path. It's a short distance but not something a stroller or wheel chair or bike can handle easily. There is even a small stream to cross. Then once you get to the paved path in this area, it's not very scenic for a long stretch in both directions. Eventually, we made it to the wooded area where the path curves away from the power lines and there seem to be lots of great smaller trails winding through the wooded area. We might come back but look for a different place to set off from to walk or bike the park.

WmSc0tt Cunn1ngham: Excited for a beautiful day at the Skate Park, but disappointed to learn that it's been 80% disassembled as part of a fully funded, $1.2M renovation. Note that some older photos posted are now out of date....the renovation started with removal of the larger part of the park, in May 2022. As of 19 June 2022 the smaller "children's" part of the skate park is still open!!

Dave Park: This park has it all! Despite all of the sports/rec activities that are offered here though, we mostly come here to play tennis since it's the best in the area in terms of the ample amount of courts this park has, lamps for night play, and so much more. Cool community too.

Cristina Darter-Henry: Fields are well kept, and the Restrooms are very clean and look recently renovated. So nice to have a real facility close to where we play ball!

Rick M: Conveniently located shared use trail park. Offers lighted tennis courts, a skate park, rec center, and ball fields. I most enjoy the MTB trails with access from the CCT.

Josh Williams: Nice REC center and park combined. Nice trail around the park to go for a nice outdoor walk. Nice skate park

_Carzforlyfe _: Great sized skatepark, but it’s old and needs work. Renovations will be going up soon and am looking forward to the new additions.

Mike Colie: Bathrooms were redone but dugouts are still from 20-30 years ago and are very small.

Minerva Atilano: Nice place and safe environment for my kids to practice skateboarding.

Cason Fajardo: this is my local, its huge and mostly just a transition park, there isnt really any flow to it though, the street section is good but not very beginner friendly if you are pretty good you could have some fun here but its mostly just huge ramps lol

Gaithersburg Skate Park: what do users think?

Mary Robinson: Great place! My kids enjoyed camp there! Beautiful new mural!

Steve Lund: This park is really nice. There is a good variety of ramps and they are all in great condition. Kids had a great time skateboarding, roller blading, and biking.

Mike Yelovich: Very modern lots of good kids

Marcelo Castillo: Absolutely love it, I have been skating there for probably around 8 years and have made friends with the staff and fellow skaters, everyone there is super friendly and skating there isnt intimidating like other parks

Ryn Nadler: One of my most favorite parks in the area. It's an older style park with wooden funboxes and quarter pipes. (Not really a fan of how newer parks around here are designed) strongly recommend stopping by here if you ride bmx.

Bradley Miller: staff is nice but the people that come here are very rude, the ramps look like they haven't been maintained in years (screws everywhere). if you try to wax anything you will bombarded with hate.

kyler vogan: Completely ridiculous you have to wear a helmet. As a experienced skater over 21 i shouldn't have to wear a helmet if signing a waiver.

Zain Bokhari: I’ve been going to Gaithersburg Skatepark for almost 7 years now and the skatepark and it’s staff have made it a safe environment for the pleasure of skateboarding and is very family friendly and the skaters and I are very nice and respectful to people and our home away from home, Gaithersburg Skatepark

Ryan Horan: Great for the kids. They have a good mix of ramps to progress from a basic rider to an advanced rider.

devin Hancock: The people are cool and a great place for all levels of biking or skate boarding

Lanham Skate Center: what do users think?

md Jolie: Very nice place! The workers there are fantastic and care a lot about your safety. A heads up though, the music is LOUD so if you've got sensitive hearing, fair warning. Also if you're planning to visit the food court, know that they have tile floors over there so if you're not that great at skating you might drop your food or drink.

Millennial Max: Amazing Skate Center with good quality skating shoes for all sizes.Cool DJ Themes!

Myra Edwards: I'm giving a 2 star because the kids had fun. I'm also giving a 2 star because it was extremely HOT 🔥 no AC at all. My kids was so hot I'm just glad the kids didn't pass out from it being so hot. It was 70 dollars for 4 kids and me and I didn't skate. 5 dollars added on to rent something for the kids to hold on too. Roller skate are dirty.. Total 75 to $80

Cynthia Saunders: We had a Great day at the Skating party today. Woo-Hop YESS! Staff was friendly and helpful.

Jay Hugee: Took the family skating after the Juneteenth Celebration in Watkins Regional Park…GREAT TIME! Can’t wait to return. ❤️🖤💚

Dayan Escobar: I won't give the 5 starts only because they don't allow inline skates... Otherwise, great team, clean facilities, great vibes!I would recommend it for those who want to learn how to skate.

suave tech: Good size rink and the floor has been...let's just say...modified. It still has lots of gaps in the wood planks and even more planks that are not completely smooth if you roll across them instead of down them. The great atmosphere is still there and MOST of the skaters are pretty friendly, especially once you come often and get to know them. I also like most of the workers. They are cool but they don't play around if you don't follow the rules.

Doreen W: Kudos to the updated skating rink. Floor is beautiful, music is good and good atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised to see the amount of people skating. There was a birthday party after our session and it was a big crowd. Look forward to having fun here again.
Response: Hey, Dee! Thank you for the great review and rating! We appreciate the kudos on the new floor! We would love to see you on the rink again soon!

Safiya Parker: Went for adult night. $10 admission, $5 rental. It was a good experience and nice to watch the different skater skills

Tasha Vaughan: I’ve been going to this rink since a child an have seen many changes for the good this is home away from home the staff are friendly an always willing to give a helping hand or just great info for new skaters to make them feel comfortable The music is great an they cater to age so if u are older the they have the throwback jams on Thursdays except the 1st Thursday of the month But over all great staff an customers Keep doing what your doing!!!!

Rockville Skate Park: what do users think?

phil3636: A really fun, well laid out Skatepark. It has enough of the fundamentals but also a few quirky objects to make it stand out. A top of the range park. The downside is it's a proper supervised ultra strict park with rules. You have to sign a waiver to skate. You have to sign in and out. You have to wear a helmet. The park is closed on weekdays until 3pm and only opens at midday on weekends. It feels more like a daycare for parents to drop their kids off at knowing they're being supervised and wearing helmets. Which is great if your a kid or a parent. I prefer a more laid back, casual environment for skating personally. Afterall, isn't the appeal of skateboarding the fact it has no rules?

Dead Goon: Overall, it’s not a bad park. Decent layout. Times are odd but I only ride the weekend mornings, so it doesn’t affect me. Bmx only hours are nice but you can’t grind with pegs, even plastic pegs. Disappointing considering I sit there and watch kids on scooters and skateboarders grinding and most likely causing more damage than my plastic pegs, if that’s the reasoning. Worth checking out even if it’s just once.

Danny Schmitz: I used to skate the old skatepark for years until they closed it a few years ago. It was the spot we’re my buddies and I would get together every night after work and get a good skate session until the lights went out. I was really looking forward to having something like this again but the helmets rules and hours just make the park not worth skating. I understand if younger kids need to wear protective gear but making experienced adult skateboarders wear helmets is just ridiculous! It felt more like I was skating at a daycare than a skatepark! They’re skateparks in nearby cities like Olney, Silver Spring, etc. that you can just walk in whenever and skate helmet free! Even though the old Rockville park layout wasn’t as good, I’d take it over the new park any day!

Alex Topper: I don't know why people are so upset with wearing a helmet. I have always had a great time here. Normally going early on Sundays with my son and it seems to be a kid session which I think is great. Im an older bmxer getting back into it watching my son have a blast. Only thing I wish they would change is the hours on other day.

sol diaz: New park is FANTASTIC! Staff is wonderful, great ramps, basically anything a beginning or advanced skater could ask for in such a small space :)

Don: Great park and set-up. But, as others have noted the hours are not good. The helmet part is difficult bc it puts some minimum wage kid working at the park in charge of telling a bunch of 30+ yr olds to put on their helmet. Overall it feels like a early 90s park that is over administered. To the skaters; Be nice to the park employee, it's not their fault they have to make you wear a helmet.

dave garvey: The hours are so terrible. How can anyone ride if they’re practically never open. I’d like to see this place do a sunrise to sunset type of deal like all the other parks in Maryland.

Rob Scherer: The park is incredible. Don't pay attention to reviews where its obvious that person doesn't skate and is simply writing to complain. The park was completed by an incredible company, Spohn Ranch, who also did North Laurel, Leesburg, South Branch, Reston, etc. and this park is buttery smooth. It has tons of ledges, transitions, a bowl, rails, benches, etc. No stairs. It is free. You have to check in and give your info the first time you go. You then you get a little card to show them moving forward. Yes, you have to wear a helmet...don't let that keep you from skating one of the best parks in the DMV that is brand new. So yeah, check in, wear a helmet, and skate while you forget that its on your head, its that simple.

Ryan Reynolds: Terrible layout. Must wear a helmet, hours need to be addressed, must sign up for a membership providing private information unwarranted, can't skate without a shirt on regardless of temperature. No reason for there to be administrator watching over people, waste of taxpayers money. One and done will never be back

Frey Sure: Nice environment and serene atmosphere!

North Laurel Skatepark: what do users think?

Giselle LP: Excellent skatepark within a beautiful community center - ramps, grind rails and a bowl. It also has some boulder-type rocks included in the layout, which makes it unique.

Jason Jenkins: Great atmosphere! Place is clean and folks were super friendly. I just picked up skateboarding and the guys here were quick to give me a few pointers to help me. My daughter had no issues riding her scooter around. Place is free, well kept and open from sun-up until sun-down. A park ranger will occasionally make the rounds to ensure everything is running well. Overall a great experience for me and my family.

Adam L: Best park in the area next to Shrimptown. Free to skate and bowl is fun to sesh. Bring your friends

Koa Dan: I just recently starting bring my kids to this park/playground. Today was our second time visiting and like our last visit my children and niece loved their experience. Most of the children who come to play here are a delight as well as their parents. The skate park area is very nice and my 14 year old loves riding his scooter on the ramps and equipment. There's two ways in to the Skate Park in which I just found this out today. If you are using a GPS and are not familiar with the area when searching for this park Type in North Laurel Community Center instead of North Laurel Skate Park. You will see the difference in where you enter in as well as where to park. If you or your little one needs to use the restrooms the community center is open and do allow for use of the restroom. This park/playground is situated behind townhomes if coming in after typing in your GPS North Laurel Skate Park. Otherwise you will come through a neighborhood if typed in North Laurel Community Center. The playground has a little something for all the kids and is not huge but not entirely small either. 😊

Miguel Lopez: Had a blast skating this Skatepark. It's got great flow all around the park and in the bowl. Also met some cool skaters.

buddy MASTIN: Great skateboard park, took my 9 year old grandson and he had a great time. Everyone was nice and very helpful. It gets pretty busy on Friday evening and Saturday so if you are bringing young skateboarders you might want to opt for a weekday. We will be back. 1 of the 2 best skate parks we have been to so far.

Alex Ramirez: My first time at this park. Park has such a nice flow to everything. Very clean and presentable. Locals were pretty cool. I'm just getting back into skating so some obstacles above my skill set but I still had a good time! I recommend checking it out yourself.

Joshua G.: Awasome park great variety smooth surface well maintained a little for everyone here. Awasome people had a blast learning riding and watching some awasome talent here.

Bill Transue: Quality skate park, great bowl

Alex Hakspiel: Had a great time there with a friend. We ended up staying for 3 hours 🤷‍♂️ Great place to skate, friendly community that was helpful, everything there is skateable for all experience levels, and it was very clean and kept up! Definitely visiting again.

Kali: Small and a little old but never over crowded. Staff will get to know you by name and are always friendly and helpful. I took my first steps on the ice here and fell in love with skating. Cheap place to skate too.

Kristin Gross: My kids love going to Bowie Ice Arena to skate. My son has taken several learn to skate lessons. The instructors make it fun for little ones who are just starting out. Lots of games mixed with skill. The facility is clean and staff are friendly. My daughter is looking forward to attending a week long summer camp this year as well. Open skate sessions are offered throughout the week. Rental skates are available! Check it out.

Andrea Smith: My children needed to prepare for an ice show in December and we chose to do our final preparations at the Bowie Ice Arena. I hadn't been since just before the pandemic -- we had a wonderful time. The staff there was wonderfully helpful and kind -- even allowing us to try to have a pair of boys figure skates stretched to fit my son who doesn't own his own pair. I felt welcome before we were extended that opportunity -- but as a result of that offer, I really came to believe that the rink is a GREAT place for us to visit for regular practice. It can be very difficult to find rinks -- or any place -- staffed with individuals who are kind, honest, and considerate. Even when we visited the Pro Shop, the teen working there -- a hockey player -- was especially kind, friendly, and helpful. I highly recommend the rink -- and hope to return many times in the New Year.

Moe Paul: I learned how to skate from not knowing how to skate from the lessons here. Everyone from the staff to the skaters taking lessons is very encouraging and willing to help you get better . Come on out from child to senior citizen and have some fun.

《ItsNotJala 》: They teach so much in 30mins. The staff are amazing and they have wonderful shows. 10/10 experience

Majd Hijazi: Nice place next to the park, price is also good. Better to check their website before coming.

Jay & Amanda Brinson: Could use some updates, but a great place to skate and/or have a party

Jennifer Beilman: The have the walkers that assist beginners. My kids were on them for the first hour til they got the feel of it. One of the workers came out and offered some helpful advice too! We got a Groupon for $15 for 4 people including hot cocoa and rentals. My kids loved it and begged to return soon.

Ari Orenstein: There is always plenty of space on the ice and it does not feel overcrowded, the skate guards are very nice too. I can skate fast to get a burn, practice my backwards crossovers, and most importantly have fun! This is my favorite ice rink, hands down.

Walter Holmes: Went during family skate (i.e., discounted for families). No issues, and the ice skates seemed relatively new.
