The Dance Institute of Washington: what do users think?

Cheri Mallory: We have had a wonderful experience with DIW's Autism Acceptance Events.

Angela Ingram: Excellent Dance Training and excellent community for dances to train. DIW cares deeply for their students, faculty and staff.

Daisy Fischer: Positive: ProfessionalismMy Grandson participated in the virtual Theater Workshop on October 3rd, 2020, and he had so much fun. The ladies of Teatro La Bolsa did an excellent job of keeping the students engaged while they provided education in language, culture, dance and geography. Thank you.

Cassie Quick: I don't recommend this school as they are really unorganized. It takes weeks to follow up with parents about questions or concerns. It's pretty ridiculous. I recommend they hire additional help.
Response: Hello, Ms Quick. We are sorry to learn about your experience. As a non for profit organization our number one priority is to have the best positive impact in our youth. Of course we can’t do this without the support of parents and guardians and we apologize for the inconvenience. We would like to share that during the summer of 2019 DIW experienced multiple staff transitions and also began exciting renovation in which we are adding a new studio and student lab to our state of the art building. Although no excuse, please consider these major occurrences as a reason to why our line of communication failed you. Again, we apologize and hope you reconsider our school in the future as we have major exciting changes and upgrades in process. All best!

Zahra Carpenter: Very good quality of dance classes. Although the founder passed away, it is in the staff and teachers heart to carrying on his legacy. Cannot wait what is next for DIW!

Star Clark: I take lessons here sometimes. It's wonderful and cheap. Say hello to Lettie and Mara. Great instructors!

Noelle Hoerrner: I love to dance and the young dancers out there in Washington D.C. I think they have an opetunity here!

claudia Moreno: If it was possible to give less than one star i would. this place is beyond unprofessional and you will get tossed around from person to person trying to get basic information. horrible. horrible. absolutely horrible. customer service is absurd.

Cheryle Crawford: Great teacher for younger " bun heads", continues to use ZOOM classes effectively.

Peter Perkins: Interested in developing skills I'll highly recommend attending The Dance Institute of Washington also I much say many opportunities are available.

Sony Laventure: Was a tough process getting the room but we enjoyed the studio space and the sound system. Our participants also gave compliments about the room

Jake Nodar: We shot a dance sequence for a music video and were thrilled with everything about this place. Booking was easy and studio 2 was perfect for what we needed.

Darrell Duane: Great dance classes including Contact Improvisation Dance, Acro Yoga, Gaga, Ballet, Modern and more. Also has a lot of great workshops and special events!

Stephen Clapp: A great place for dance and movement classes! You can also catch a vibrant live dance concert! Also the home of Dance Metro DC!

Cameron Villanueva: My first day here was magical. Ecstatic dance with Atticus Mooney had me coming back weekly to keep the magic flowing.

Sylvana Christopher: A space for the community to train in dance arts, modalities and techniques.

Jennifer Tibbs: Open dance space is a bonus to me!

BSW PA Treasurer: A super professional independent private school in the heart of DC serving Nursery to High School Students. What makes this school standout is its British high quality curriculum and diverse student population. Class sizes are small and the teaching first class.

Washington Waldorf School: what do users think?

Bonnie Auslander: A fantastic community of teachers who are dedicated to their students. My two kids have been there for six years and love it. Lots more info about our school on DC Urban Moms. Come take a tour or attend the bazaar in November to get a sense of what Waldorf/ Steiner education is all about.

Daniel Foster: We have two children at this school, and they are both extremely happy there, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The teachers are extremely dedicated, and the quality of the students' work is extraordinary. The curriculum is very rich, and the approach to teaching encourages a love of learning which is really the most important thing a school can provide.

Jennie Rabinowitz: Incredible place for children to learn at a developmentally appropriate pace without being beholden to nonstop testing. Teachers here have deep relationships with and insights into their individual students. So happy to have found this wonderful school and community!

Eric Holdsworth: We have had our daughter at this school since pre-school and she loves it. This school and its method of teaching are a magic elixir for what ails most public school teaching. Come to Waldorf and find a better way to learn.

Don Gabriel: I have no children, but I’ve always been impressed by the lectures that I attended. Everyone seems to be remarkably dedicated to their Waldorf adventure.

Andrei Farago: My friends and I were treated very badly by a teacher named miss spotolnick but everyone else was nice.

Thiago Roberto: Excellent

Ballou STAY High School: what do users think?

Austin Graff: Disclaimer: Thus review is entirely based on the building. I'm not a student here so I can't speak to the education or teaching staff, but I did spend a day here using the building for City Year DC on MLK Day. It's safe to say that Ballou High School may be the best looking high school in America. They recently build a new campus and it's huge and super nice! Everything is so light and inviting with large windows everywhere. The campus has a day care, gym, and even a giant courtyard in the center of the main building. The football field is amazing and if you haven't been to a Ballou football game, you need to! They have one of the best marching bands in the country and you'll never hear anything quite like it. They have even been on the Ellen Show a few times. They are that good! One of my good friends, Mr. Faber, is a teacher here and he speaks very highly of the students here. I'm a huge Ballou fan!

Makisha Jackson: I attended Ballou Stay in 2003, and I can honestly say it was worth it. My advisor was outstanding, she made sure I got the work done in a timely manner, she took sick and was still able to provide her services to me by allowing me to come to her home. I would highly recommend any adult that want to go back and get their diploma to do so at Ballou Stay High School.

Lissenen: PROUD GRADUATE!!! Graduated with honors! Man.... I can't put into words my experience with the school. I was MORE than pleased with the help, the team effort from SOME of the students. There are certain apples.... but hey... it's what YOU put into it. I was personally not treated as a "nothing". I was treated like a human being. A person. I was supported by the school 100%. I even went off to college and I am still in school pursuing my career as a Aerospace and Planetary Scientist. GO KNIGHTS!

ShaRhonda Lewis: Ballou is the best school i have ever went to ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!! BBB NATION many people have alot of negative things to say because they haven't been to ballou and the media portray ballou as a bad school and it is NOT !

TrustingMy Instincts: I have been calling this school to obtain information, for over a month. I have yet to speak to anyone, the phone just continuously rings. So much for being there to try and help people who want to go back to school and better themselves.

Meekie Watson (Meekie): The school inside out looks great but I feel they can do more as far as the teachers goes .

Tone Walters: Beautiful new school and all the seniors applied to college and were accepted. Awesome!!

Rita Deville: My son was there grab him out fast as I could day one❇

Darnese Merritt: Great Public School in Southeast DC

Bree Bell: Hated it

Peter Eisler: Both of our children have thrived at Burke. The faculty is terrific, the academic standards are high, and the school really stresses personal growth and responsibility. Students are encouraged to take risks and be comfortable in their own skin. The leadership program also is very strong.

liv. laf. luv: I have just left Washington Mill ES due to the fact that I just graduated (2018) but I can say that when I moved here and started at this school in 4th grade I always felt at home and accepted; I will forever miss the teachers (Mr.Smith we love you, Ms'Hawkins a dedicated teacher and goofball at heart, And many more Office ppl, art, gym) and I'll miss the building in general, so many memories. On the last day of school at the end of the day all you could hear were the sounds of over 90 kids crying but we did the same ting the day before when Mr. Smith one of the music teachers gave all of the rising 6th graders a speech that touched all of our hearts. To everyone I will miss you and to all of you out there (I'm sorry for the long comment) but I highly recommend this school, I 99.99% promise that your child or (children) are in safe and loving hands, if you don't trust me on that well just keep in mind that I was in Band, Chorus, A.A.P (advanced academics program, one of the captains of the safety patrol program they have, A.C.C (all county chorus)(look it up), and just a loving student -Liv (I'll never forget you guys) (don't forget me!)

Maryam Kaleem: wonderfull school and teaching experience with my son for two years. Staff and Principal deserve admiration for keeping such a nice connection with parents and kids. we are moving out of area but will miss forever. Best

George Ravioli: This school is racist

Sena Deressa: This a great school

Theodore Roosevelt High School: what do users think?

Deidre “Girl Interrupted” Interrupted: I have read the reviews and the ones with more than 1 star must have be written by staff members because my granddaughter has been in the is school approximately 4 days and has already been threatened by students (boys and girls). How is a parent suppose to have any peace. When all they want is for their child to get an education so they can become a productive members of society. You can't teach students if you are afraid of them. You can't give the bad apples passes because you don't want to tarnish your schools reputation. We are loosing kids everyday out here because the lack proprietary initiative from our educators and city council members. They seem to be more concerned about the cosmetics of situation and not willing to get in an do the work to weed out the bad element and protect those kids that just want to get an education.

John Almquist: I was able to tour the new facility after the excellent historic renovation & modernization. Very glad they reused the idea from the Wilson HS project to make the courtyard useful again. Now it's up to the administration and teachers (and parents) to show what a difference they can make on the students and earn a star upgrade on my rating. Good luck!

Heathen Goddess: Worst school I've ever been to. Quite possibly the worst in the city. Teachers would rather talk to the "roamers"(kids who walk the halls all day) than teach those who actually want to learn. Security treats them like celebs, instead of sending them back to class. The staff always seems like the wish they were somewhere else, perhaps in front of the TV where they usually are... Student are nasty and rude with NO home training, no direction, and no desire to respect anyone-including themselves.

Althea Scott: I am a substitute teacher who works there often. Many of the students are great to work with and the staff, administration, and security are strong. A very welcoming environment indeed.

Judith Overbey: The students from this school are rude and disrespectful. They push adults out of the way to get on the buses then want to curse you if you say something. One girl wanted to fight me and I'm old enough to be her grandmother.

Jun Nguyen: I attended a few night classes here many years ago during my senior high school days. The only thing I remember about this place was Ms. Whitfield, a kind-hearted, gentle, and patient teacher who taught us English and Literature.

Jacqueline Jordan: I attended Roosevelt Senior High School I am a graduating class of 1995 I really enjoy attend this school but it was kind of rough going to this school back then.my son is a 9th grader here and I like the new renovation of this school I can't recognize it anymore it looks different inside.

yeabkal wasihun: BIG Roose

Antwonn Antwonn: it OK now that there is a new principal

mat tan: This school is not good. I have been a student at WIS from kindergarten up to now in high school. The academics here are ok. No interesting courses and the courses do not teach you useful skills except for digital design with Mark Perkins which is very useful and you learn a lot. There is no real entrepreneurship or programming course. In terms of students its horrible. From what I have seen, the students are not interesting, don't do anything, and are horrible influences. The students are bored and the few that do anything extra other than school don't actually do cool things. All the students are also bullies who never change, this happens in every grade. Also, the students are horrible influences, so many high school students do drugs (weed, cigarettes, LSD) and they drink alcohol. I don't think this is very rare but still here and very present. If you send your child to this school be prepared to see your child likely to develop into a bully, not feel good, and perhaps even do drugs or drink alcohol. One pro is their campus which is very good and their teachers are good. Also, its a good brand for college and university.

graysmiles: I used to go to this school and it was a great experience the lunch is great the kids are so kind and the teachers and staff are really really caring. There is no such thing as detention and they have all these special events in the school year. The sports day is amazing and the P.E program is very good. Now in Paris I am doing everything I can so that I am up to level in my Spanish and can get back into the school when I come back to DC.

David Zamula: WIS has the best Art program in the world, Annette and Nancy have transformed art education at WIS. The graduates of the program have gone on to pursue fine art, graphics and design ventures.

Andre Gardiner: Best. School. Ever

delee 18: There is no better school.

Kyana Jacobs: The staff at this school is very unprofessional and rude. When things go wrong with your children they don't even call and tell you. You have to hear it from other kids. Then when you call to fine out info about the situation don't nobody know what you talking about. You have to use curse words and actions a fool just to get a call back. I would not recommend IDEA to no one I would put my child in a public school first.

Nukeasha Watson: This school is by far the worst I've dealt with. You can ask for a weekly progress of your child's work ethics and behavior and still do not get it. They'll call only when they don't want your child in school. There's no parent teacher relationship here.

Dan Kinney: Nasty employees, especially Nicole. Very rude and I would never refer them to anyone.

UCOGIC Sponsorship: this school is what school should be, discipline, order, and fun. the school's mane focus is respect

Ryan Mimna: Very nasty people that run this school, very nasty indeed!

Cesar Chavez Public Charter School: what do users think?

Tanya Duckett: This school cannot keep teachers and the children are failing behind because of. The Dean's, counselors, coaches, a front staff are awesome. However I am highly disappointed in the way the administration has allowed the absence of teachers to affect the children's grades. My daughter took a F in her thesis junior year because the teacher quit before entering her grade and the principal did nothing after many attempts on my behalf on clearing the matter. This kept my child from having a 4.0 to a 3.8 gpa cumulative. This school is not what it once was.

Vivian Mercer: Really good school! They have a lot of good programs for kids to succeed! Check them out if you have kids!

Denise Jackson: My children attending Capitol Hill for years now after an ordeal by other students they had to leave. Wouldn’t refer this school awful

Heather Haire: Great public charter school. Has a school police officer at all times.
