Georgetown Alterations Ms.Lee LLC: what do users think?

Candice Barbara: I am so thankful for Ms. Lee and her alterations. I had two weddings back to back and the dresses were entirely too big. She fixed both dresses in a short time frame and made sure I felt comfortable. She was kind and understanding which made me feel better about the crazy double wedding weekend I had. I plan to come here from now on!Service: Alterations

Samuel Johnson: Top notch service! Great sense of humor. Got in before she closed Friday, picked up at opening next day. She also made suggestions to make my tux fit better! Highly recommended.Service: Alterations

Alana Duran: Ms. Lee had my suit for a wedding I was attending all done and perfect days before I actually needed it. The fit was nice nice, she knew exactly what areas need to be taken in and by how much. She knew how to make it look flattering on me. Most of all the pants and blazer only cost me $100 and she did a lot to make it fit. Definitely a fair price. She’s funny, lively and a real pro. Don’t forget to tip!

James Welch: This is a great shop. There are many places to get alterations in Geirgetown, but I love the vibe of this place.. Ms Lee is funny! When she calls you baby it is unexpected, yet endearing. I am a tall dude and I always have to make some type of alteration to suits I purchase. Ms. Lee handles those alterations expertly and quickly. Recently I called about having my jacket fitted on a Wednesday afternoon and I had it back by Thursday afternoon. Pricing is fair! It's comparable to other shops in the area. If there has to be a down side it would be the parking. It is Georgetown, so even that is expected. You won't regret coming here.

Riley E: Had two dresses, a pair of pants, and a sweater altered/repaired and the results are amazing. The turnaround time was also very fast. The prices were worth it and the clothes all fit perfectly now. Will definitely be coming back! Thank you!

Alison Beyene: I always call to see if "Young Ms.Lee" there then I will come on her day. There are two ladies to mark you clothes, one call "Old Ms.Lee" and the other is "Young Ms.Lee". I experienced with " old Ms.Lee " who took time to measure my dress and later she said she won't be able to do and suggested me to look for another tailor. I was a little disappointed. When I got home my sister told me you should try to see the "Young Ms.Lee". This lady is able to do all kind of alterations. I am in rush and need my dress ASAP so I called and met "Young Ms.Lee " on the next day. She has a "magic hands" . She said you can pick your dress on the next day that made me was so happy. The next day I came to pick it up and my dress were perfect, it fit like a glove. The price was reasonable. I did come back too many times see only " Young Ms. Lee". Service: Alterations

Monique Marie: Ms. Lee altered a dress for me in 24 hours for a photo shoot I had the next day. She is the best, quick and efficient and I’ll definitely be back.Service: Alterations

HAL Deiri: Brought in a pair of Zanella dress pants and she did a great job on the length alternations! Also, she is extremely friendly so that makes it more enjoyable to stop by

Lincoln Le: Ms. Lee knows what she's doing! I brought in 6 pairs of pants to be hemmed and the turnaround time was less than a week! Prices are the absolute best in the area as well. Make sure to check her out if you need absolutely anything done related to alterations. Beware of another Ms. Lee in the area posing as their business! Follow the signs on Wisconsin up the stairs right above Mono Diner! Service: Alterations

Stacy Lemery: Fairly-priced alterations business in Georgetown. I paid about $130 for alterations to three suit jackets that all needed different things (hem the sleeves, bring in the waist, etc.). I was impressed that they have multiple changing rooms to try on your clothes before and after. The turn-around time is fast, and the quality of their tailoring is still good. If, in the process, they can't quite give you what you want, they will double check with you about possible alternatives before continuing.

Cheryl Lofton & Associates Inc.: what do users think?

Becky Giallella: Cheryl and her team did an amazing job on my wedding dress! I had my mom’s wedding dress from the 80s that I wanted to incorporate into my dress. They came up with an amazing design, and created a flawless and sentimental piece. They were so friendly and accommodating, highly recommend! They also did an amazing job altering my husbands suit. He was so happy with it! Services: Design , Alterations
Response: Thank you, Becky! We're happy to see that you both were satisfied. We're wishing you two a lifetime of love and hope to see you in the future for any other alterations.

La Voyageuse B: As the mother of the bride, I needed a beaded gown shortened by the next day. It was ready by 10 am the next day. It was perfect and surpassed expectations. Thanks to Ms Lofton and her highly skilled staff I was the Belle of the Ball with the exception of my beautiful daughter the Bride
Response: Thank you!

Daniel Becker: The service here is amazing! Cheryl tailored my wedding tuxedo and did a great job. However, on my wedding day, as I was putting on the pants, one of the seams ripped (not their fault, but at the same time it wasn’t good since my wedding was starting about 3 hours later). I called the store thinking there’s no chance they’d be able to fix my pants on such short notice. Sure enough, Cheryl had two of her tailors hop in an Uber to the hotel where I was getting ready! They showed up about 15 minutes later and fixed my pants, and I was good to go for the wedding. They really went above and beyond what I would expect a business to do, and pretty much saved the day! Service: Alterations

Julia Holladay: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ResponsivenessWe went to Cheryl and her team to make alterations to my wedding dress and to create my then fiance's suit. We were BLOWN away by the final products, and absolutely loved working with Cheryl and all the associates. They are artists without a doubt.
Response: Hi Julia, you and your fiance were amazing to work with. Rarely do we get both bride and groom together using our bridal services. You guys made it extra special and so much fun. Thanks for the lovely photos as well. We will be posting you guys up on or IG and adding your photos to our website as well.

Armetria Misha': The absolute best tailoring shop EVER. From my gala dress as a teen, my wedding dress as an adult, my wardrobe, to repurposes my clothing when I lost weight, and now my robe as an ordained minister. Hands down my closet isn’t a closet without Cheryl Lofton & Associates!!!!

Emily Dodson: I came here in dire need of hemming and bringing in a bridesmaid dress that was 1-2 sizes too big for me, Cheryl and her team did an amazing job and were open to my questions and were rapid in their work. Couldn’t recommend more!

Duane C: What a wonderful job done on my daughter Sarah's dress. It fit perfectly and it was not ready to go until Cheryl and her team worked their magic. Good things cost money, and so does tailoring to get it right. Highly recommended. She was a beautiful bride.
Response: Thank you, Duane! You're right, she looks absolutely beautiful!! We appreciate such a warm review and hope to work with you all again I the future. CL&A

Shawnna Mullenax: My experience with Cheryl Lofton & Associates could not have been better. High quality and fair pricing. Ali did a wonderful job tailoring my maid of honor dress. Although it was ordered to size, it was too big when it arrived. Ali tailored the top and took several inches off of the bottom. He did such a great job that I also had him tailor my own dress for my upcoming wedding.
Response: Hey there Shawnna, So happy that you had a good experience with us. Ali enjoyed working with you and we look forward to seeing you again. Thanks so much for this awesome review. We really appreciate that. Cheryl A Lofton

Chanelle B (CocoChanel): I'm so happy to have found Cheryl and team!!! They do an amazing job!! I had 3 items (a blazer dress and a coordinating set) I was hoping to have altered within a week and they were able to turn everything around in just a couple of days!! The pricing was on par for any good tailor, about $50/piece. The coordinating set was a piece I had ordered from another designer and the fit and finishing just wasn't right :( They were able to resize the outfit and finish the stitching perfectly. In hindsight I should've had them shorten the sleeves as well. Either way, they did an amazing job and I look forward to bringing other items to be altered and maybe even have some custom pieces made!!
Response: Hi Chanelle, Thank you so much for this awesome review. we are so glad that you plan to return and we look forward to seeing you again.

Joe Krisch: I purchased a suit from an online retailer for my wedding and, despite my best efforts to take accurate measurements, it arrived fairly ill-fitting. Cheryl A Lofton & Associates did a fantastic job making the necessary adjustments and were extremely communicative with me every step of the way. The turn-around time was very fast and the suit looks absolutely fantastic. To anyone out there needing adjustments on their suits, even for very special occasions, I would highly recommend Cheryl A Lofton & Associates. Service: Alterations
Response: Hey Joe, Thank you for trusting us with your alteration needs. So glad you were happy with the outcome and we look forward for seeing you soon.

J C Lofton Tailors: what do users think?

Lyssa McEachern: I needed a dress tailored here within 2 weeks for a wedding and they did not let me down! Friendly people and great pricing for the beautiful work you get!

Mark Koenig: Great people and incredibly talented! Quick turn around for a well tailored suit at a reasonable price. I get compliments each time I wear it, so you know it was done right! Thank you!

Iman Shabazz: One of the finest Professional Taylors in WDC. We have taken our things here for years! Expedient work.and very detailed in their efforts. Thanks Iman @ Les Fleur Studio

Erika Eubanks: Beautiful people with a beautiful business. I needed my maid of honor dress tailored and taken in. They were able to give me a reasonable price along with quick and perfect service! I had everything done in 45 minutes! The plan was for me to leave it that the shop, but the tailor decided to do it right then and there. Quick and easy. I'm definitely grateful! Service: Alterations

Nafeesah Attah: I’ve been coming here since I moved to DC in 2018 and I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. I’ve taken high end suits to dresses to them and they’ve always done an amazing job. They are high quality and can be trusted with your garments, but work really quickly! Sometimes my alternations are ready same day. To top it all off everyone in the shop is extremely friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this business to anyone. Looking forward to bringing more items to them! Service: Alterations

Jared Mingo: My man has 45 years of experience as a tailor. He and his team will execute all of tailoring needs with expertise and then some, all at a very affordable price with haste to match. If you have a rush order it will completed on time.

KeKe's Kidz: No complaints here. Mr. Lofton altered a suit for my 3 year old. Lets just say my vision was executed to a tee. And my son was the talk of the ball. Proud to work with Mr. Lofton and look forward to many more suits in my sons future. #1stsuitcustomefit

Samuel Mather: Went because it’s the best-reviewed tailor shop in the area, and now I’m just confused. I tried to get a suit altered to accommodate pandemic weight. The staff was consistently rude. I was surprised they only had me try on the suit and didn’t take any measurements, but figured they’re the experts. Same rudeness when I picked it up. They did an ok job with the jacket but the pants aren’t even close to fitting. In fairness they said they’d let the pants out as much they could but it might not be enough - but isn’t that the kind of thing where measurements would be useful to have? I don’t really know what normal prices are for alterations. What they charged is about consistent with what Charles Tyrwhitt charges for in-house alterations, but, you know, less helpful, slower and less reliable. They did return the suit in good condition, except for a new, unpleasant odor.

Marshall (MRJ56): If you ever need anything altered J C Lofton Tailors is the place to go. This is the only place I go for any kind of alterations. After I purchase my suits I take them here for alterations. The service is always top notch.

Matt Waples: Quick service and very courteous! I had my suit measurements within a few minutes. The professional who helped me made sure I had all the possible measurements I would need. The tailor is in the upstairs of the building. Updated: Many measurements were off or not correctly named, resulting in a follow-up visit to a Men's Wearhouse. I wanted to support the smaller business here, but it's worth noting: I paid $25 here for incomplete measurements. I went to Men's Wearhouse and they measured me, fitted me to a jacket for verification, and charged $0. Hopefully Lofton can accommodate others better.

Best Fit Tailoring: what do users think?

Amanda Fayer: Terrible! Disappointed is an understatement. I was shocked at how badly the alterations on this gown came out. I could have done this better intoxicated in the dark. Ended up getting some $ back (I was charged $169 for this and basic hemming) but that was after the seamstress told me she shouldn’t have told me she could alter my dress and it was my fault for bringing it in. I was sooo glad to find a nice good tailor in the neighborhood. This is NOT it.
Response: I am sorry. Send full refund.

Olivia Hinch: Selenge is an excellent seamstress whose work always impresses me. I have had multiple dresses, skirts and pants taken in by her and it has always been done to perfection, even pants that were at least 2 sizes too large. I’m glad to have her in my neighborhood.

Emily Benson: Selenge is the best! I take everything to her and have recommended her to all of my friends. She did the final tailoring on my wedding dress and has tailored everything from my husband's velvet tuxedo to gold lamé pants. She is so kind and has such an eye. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else in the DMV.Service: Alterations
Response: Thanks

Peter: I brought two linen shirts to Selenge to take some length out of the torso. I can't even tell they were hemmed! For $20 per shirt, this was a great value and I'll definitely be coming back. Covid-19 considerations are more than adequate as well. UPDATE: I brought three pairs of pants and numerous shirts to have them updated with a more modern silhouette. Amazing. Again, I cannot tell they were tailored, the original cuffs were kept completely in tact, and I am really happy with the result. Selenge is a master at her craft.
Response: Thank you

Mara Nelson: Had a bridesmaid dress altered here, though I should say "altered" is an understatement because the dress was huge. Selenge did an amazing job. The top of the dress had wire and padding that needed to be removed and cut down in order to get the dress smaller, and it was done beautifully. You certainly couldn't tell that the dress had been altered. The cost was typical for getting a formal dress altered this much.

Zach Adams: Selenge is a fantastic tailor and does such a good job on everything I being. I can't recommend her work enough and I go back whenever I have something that needs work, big or small (from lining tears to hems etc). Thank you so much!
Response: Thanks

Isabel Scher: I had such an amazing experience! Selenge went above and beyond helping me think through the best way to tailor the dress. She even brought one of her own fabrics to help adjust a detail across the top! Very grateful for her help, would highly recommend!
Response: Thank you.

Ryan MacLeod: Selenge is a great tailor and such a friendly person! Highly recommend
Response: Thanks

J Prins: I brought a vintage heavy wool overcoat with a worn and partially separated lining to Selenge and she deftly and rapidly repaired and restored it. Because the piece is odd (including some pass-through pockets), we needed to plan the alterations in detail beforehand, and everything came out exactly as I wanted. I haven't had experience with other pieces yet (e.g., suit jackets, etc.), but I wouldn't hesitate to trust them to her after my first very positive experience.
Response: Thank you.

Jamie Lee: Needed two dresses shortened and am so glad I went here! One was quite complicated due to embroidery at the bottom...I was willing to sacrifice the design, but she offered to shorten it from the waist instead. Very glad she did...it turned out beautifully. I’m so appreciative for her skills and am glad after several years I’ve finally found a reliable tailor in DC!
Response: Thank you Jamie

Scogna Custom Tailor and Formal Wear: what do users think?

Nicole Busse: This place is old-school legit. I brought in a women’s “smoking” tuxedo to have the pants hemmed, and Mr Dil noticed all kinds of fit issues that he should fix - even pointed out that one of my shoulders was slightly higher than the other (!) and redid the jacket sleeves to adjust for that. The tailored suit fits me like a glove. So happy to have found this place! Mr Dil is a true master. Don’t take your alterations anywhere else!

James Vens: Mr. Dil at Scogna Custom Tailor is truly a master of his craft. He provided expertise and advice on tailoring my two-piece suit, and I could not be more satisfied with his work. His experience in tailoring presidents and diplomats demostrates a high level of knowledge and skill. I sincerely recommend using his services, you won't be disappointed! Service: Alterations

Virginia Gorsevski: We rented a tux for my son's prom from Scogna. As you can see from the many photos people have shared, this place has been a long time and has outfitted many a Washingtonian. Unfortunately, I think my son's shirt also came from a long ago era as it was clearly quite old and worn (even a bit yellow?). On a positive note, the tux itself fit perfectly and Mr. Dil was very nice.

Christina Brown: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueMr. Dil is a great tailor! He has done an incredible job on a number of dresses and blouses I brought to him. He is very professional, fast and meticulous in his work. He’s also done a few same day alterations. Happy to support his business. Thank you!Service: Alterations

Marc Lewis: Unbelievable service, quality and attitude. While I'm not famous like many of his customers, I was in town for a wedding and forgot my tux jacket and slacks. My concierge at the St. Regis called him, at 7:30pm, after closing but he took the call, I was in his shop by 7:45 fitted and walked out of his shop shortly after 8, made it to 8:30pm pre-wedding cocktail party shortly after it started at 8:30 in Georgetown! He didn't even charge a premium! I will always recommend Scogna and Mr. Dil! Service: Alterations

Luke Young: I have had strictly positive experiences with Scogna Custom Tailor and Formal Wear. Mr. Dil's knowledge about the business is unmatched and his light-hearted, caring attitude lets you know that you're at the best tailor in town. From my experiences, Mr. Dil is also a reliable and generous man. I needed a suit tailored earlier than I had anticipated, and Mr. Dil got it done with no complaints. His prices are fair for such high quality product. I look forward to coming back in the future and highly recommend Scogna Custom Tailor to anyone interested in their services.

R Pilapil: I was panicking to find a quality tailor for a pretty difficult gown that I'm wearing for my rehearsal dinner. I was calling all around the DMV and was getting outrageous quotes from tailors. I called Mr. Dil at Scogna and he was super accommodating and asked if I could come in right away. He's been not only professional, but kind and personable. I could tell from the time we started that we was unlike any other tailor that I had had before. I highly recommend Mr. Dil and his expertise. He's been in the business for a long time and tells the best stories. I'm really happy I found him! Service: Alterations

Grant Falk: The Master Tailor, Dil, is amazing at his craft. He has made bespoke suits for numerous presidents, politicians, journalists, and TV hosts, so naturally his talent stretches far and wide. I highly recommend going to see Dil and can promise that you will not regret it.

John Conafay: What incredible service! I called five other shops and all turned me down for a same day tux rental. Mr. Dil not only said yes, but turned it around in ONE HOUR! Perfect fit! Will always come back here for my tailoring needs.

Shelby Sires: Mr. Dil is simply the best! I went in with not one, but two dresses that I needed altered in a quick turnaround. He asked me my deadline and was able to work over time to complete it before my requested timeline. Mr. Dil is a tailor fit for the President and that’s why he works on the presidents custom tailor jobs. If you’re reading this, use Mr. Dil. Service: Alterations

Do's Custom Tailors & Formal Wear: what do users think?

Zinisaurus: Positive: ProfessionalismWhat a fantastic experience! Everyone I interacted with at Do’s tailors was kind & professional, not to mention their quality of craftsmanship was impeccable.

Cathy Healy: Always! Always, always my alternations here are perfect.Hems are the correct length. Fit is correct. Do's has done excellent work on simple, cheap things like a beloved T-Shirt that got very baggy and he has done excellent work on expensive designer alternations like shortening detailed, leather sleeves on a winter coat. Mr. Do is personable, knowledgeable, and a delight. I have been to a number of other places in DC and he is by far the best. Service: Alterations

Cassady Wallish: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueDo is amazing!! He has been so helpful - we don’t live in DC and Do has been so responsive with my fiancé’s suit for our wedding. I highly recommend this business for any alterations or wedding tux’s.Service: Alterations

Arya Harsono: Mr. Do does a fantastic job! I ordered a custom suit at a reasonable price and it was ready in 4 weeks. Mr. Do is knowledgeable and accommodating - he is clearly passionate about his craft!

Mike Kass: I've been going to Do's for years. Prior to that, I'd been to a number of other tailors around town, and this is the best by far. They do an amazing job on suits, pants, etc. The price is more than fair. The work is consistently perfect, and the people who work there are really lovely. I couldn't recommend more highly!

Kristen Henry: I went to Do's for alterations on my wedding dress and the timing, service, and quality was perfect! Vivian was very detailed in explaining how she would make the changes and walked me through the whole process so I felt really comfortable. She offered great suggestions for improving the style of the dress and made it more of a fit for my personal style. She was also patient during the fittings to make sure that I was happy with the fit and felt comfortable in the dress. The results were amazing and showed experience and high quality tailoring. I highly recommend Do's. Thanks so much!

Paul Drumond: Price is extremely high for quality of work. I had one pant leg drop it’s hem in the middle of the work day. When I looked inside, it looked like it has been glued down! Looks they forgot to go back and sew the hem together. For these prices, I would have expected far better. A bit disappointed to say the least.
Response: Hi Paul, Please look at the hem carefully, it is blind-stitching hem with transference nylon thread we never use to hem your pant not glue.

W Monahan: Since 2003, Dien Do has been the only tailor I use, even when I moved several states away for a few years. If for you, tailoring is simply a commodity service, then anyone will do. For the more discerning, there is no better tailor or value South of NYC than Mr. Do.

Madeline Jetzer: Needed a wool coat drastically taken in and he did a wonderful job, and cheaper than other places I got quoted at. Very happy with the service

Scott Cooper: THE best tailor in DC- yes pricey, but worth the high quality of service. I’ve been a customer for over ten years, and highly satisfied.

De Louice Custom Tailor: what do users think?

Larry Goldman: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ResponsivenessThis tailor provides excellent service. I’ve had several suits and other garments altered by him. I have never been disappointed. He understands the quality and cut of the clothing, and I’m always pleased with the results.Service: Alterations

John Swain: Can only speak for tailoring of suit pants. They were nice enough to do a rush job for me when I had to get to a funeral back in my home town. They completed the work and the pants were ready to pick up by the agreed upon time on the following day. Customer service was fantastic. Offered very professional advice and the cost was reasonable. I will be back for some tailoring of my suit jacket as well.

Seihyun: Professional and courteous from the moment one walks in, the head tailor of the shop shows his expertise by listening carefully to the clients’ specifications and executing his craft seamlessly onto each article of clothing. I’ve been to many tailor shops and have been let down just as many times. This place is different. If you’re looking to get any reductions done your clothing look no further. I brought in 5 articles of clothing and after the alterations were done left with zero complaints. Truly a master at his craft.

Adam Tenner: He does everything and does it well. Even when we've asked for crazy orders like making decorative button holes into working ones - he told us it would take longer but they looked great. I will also say that I personally appreciate his sense of humor. We've so appreciated his work.

D L: Definitely a great place to go to get tailored. He works quickly and does great work. So far I've only done pants here but he listens to what you want and makes good suggestions too. Extremely friendly and easy to talk to.

Jason Huberman: Positive: Professionalism, QualityGreat alterations on my suit, it fits and looks great! Very helpful and knowledgeable.Service: Alterations

Rick D: Perfect experience - I've had several suits altered here either because they were new or due to the effects of time. Fast and professional. I'm considering having him make me a custom suit.

Scott Spencer: I love this guy!! He does amazing work and he's fast and inexpensive. I take all my clothes there when I need sizing or repair!! You will not be disappointed!!

ottiviani morris: The best tailored shirts I have ever owned. His suits are incredible and a work of art.

Evan Klondar: Superb quality tailor. Does impeccable work and would highly recommend; has tailored jackets and pants for me.

Elim Boutique and Rosslyn Tailoring: what do users think?

Devin Pendergast: I have been looking for a quality tailor for some time now, and have finally found that in Elim. Jean is an incredible seamstress! I had three pairs of pants tailored, and they all came out perfect. One of the pants had a ripped pocket, and Jean was able to fix it up AND give it a little flair! The prices were great, quality was fantastic, and this is now my go-to tailor. Next week I'll be finally having one of my custom suits taken in, so I'm excited to have a tailor I can trust!

Nevaeh Peoples: Loved the service. Tailored my prom dress very well. I needed my dress fitted to my waist and she exceeded my expectations. I LOVE MY DRESS. Definitely would recommend!Service: Alterations

Jocelyn Hunt: I highly recommend Elim Boutique for alterations and tailoring! I was in a real pinch (just 4 days before my wedding) and my dress still wasn’t fitting quite right. I took my dress to this company and they had it for me the day before my wedding. It was a perfect fit. Thanks to this alteration, I was able to enjoy my wedding without the stress of trying to find a new dress just days in advance. I will always be grateful to this company for making one of the most important celebrations in life so special. Many thanks!!!! Service: Alterations

Natalie M: I had a great experience with Elim. I most recently brought in a vintage 1950s velvet dress that needed to be taken in after 2 other tailors declined to work with it due to the difficulty of the fabric. I was very pleased with the tailoring job at Elim and the dress fits like a glove. Elim Boutique also tailored my husband's Chinese groom's jacket with a very quick turnaround last fall. Elim is well worth the price if you have a tricky piece of clothing you need tailored. Service: Alterations

Rosie_reselling: I needed to have a bridesmaids dress hemmed and taken in at the bust for a wedding. Elim boutique was very professional and the dress fits me perfectly! They matched the thread to the fabric exactly, and everything fit just how I wanted it to after the alterations. The dress was finished exactly when they said it would be. I could not have had a better experience! Highly recommend! Service: Alterations

Marissa Bockeno: Hands down some of the best work I have had done. I took my birthday blazer here that has over a thousand beads and pearls on it. I needed a lot of work done to it because I bought it too big. I got the sleeves shortened, back taken in and an extra clamp added to the front. The turn around time was relatively quick. A bit pricey but if you have something you value or really need done the right way then it’s worth the extra cost. I would highly recommend bringing it here! Plus the woman who owns the place is really nice! Service: Alterations
Response: Thank you so much!! Hopefully see you for next Birthday too. Jeanhee

Sally Englander: The staff at Elim botique are lovely. We’ve been going there for years and they know us by first name. My husband is very picky about how is work pants are hemmed and they are fantastic. He doesn’t trust anyone else to alter his clothes. A button came off my jeans and they put it back on for free. They heard I’m a teacher and they gave me free masks. They are just nice people. Support their business!

Emily Anne: I purchased my wedding dress on Amazon and it needed some alterations. I went from liking the dress to loving the dress after the alterations. I wanted the crinoline removed and then it needed to be shortened. Elm Boutique was able to satisfy my needs for the dress. I walked away with a wedding gown that fit wonderfully and many were surprised it came from Amazon. Service: Alterations

Thomas Schiffer: We had a less-than-24-hours turnaround request to alter our daughter’s flower girl dress before departing for a flight to a wedding, and they absolutely delivered. For future alteration needs, this is our go-to place! The woman we worked with was extremely charming and accommodating- great customer service.Service: Alterations

Sophia Lipovsky: Cannot recommend enough. Unparalleled workmanship, done quickly and for a very fair price. I had both corduroy pants and a work dress a size too large reworked, which included moving a waist trim and layers of dress lining. They both look fantastic!!! Look no further if you need tailoring!

Stephen the Tailor: what do users think?

Benyam Ephrem: Went in to get 3 jeans tailored for waist resizing after recent weight loss. Never had a pair of jeans fit me perfectly in my life (I have an “athletic build” in lowerbody). They came back and fit perfectly. Affordable pricing, friendly staff. Well worth it. Highly recommend.
Response: Thank you so much for your positive review. We are happy that we were able to tailor your jeans exactly as you l like them. We look forward to working with you again in the future.

Cat Shrier (WaterCitizen): Wonderful business! When I lost a button on my skirt, Stephen made sure I was taken care of right away and could keep my modesty intact - while also taking good care of his staff! Thank you!Service: General repairs
Response: Thank you for your review and I'm glad that we were able to help you. We look forward to working with you again in the future.

G Matt: There might be no one better. Absolutely professional and friendly. Precise. Ultra knowledgeable. Dedicated - you can see and will know their passion - it is obvious. Masters at their art.
Response: Thank you for your feedback! We absolutely love what we do and are happy we could meet your needs!

Екатерина Шенгелия: Gave them pants to hem which they forgot to hem initially. But ok the time they forgot I didn’t pay for what they forgot to do so it’s ok. Gave them pants again after and paid to get them shortened. Told me they’ll call me back in a week. Didn’t contact or message me for three weeks. Finally I come and pick them up, bring the pants home, and what do you know they trimmed it UNEVENLY. Three weeks and 15 dollars to get unevenly hemmed pants and because they didn’t call me, I got these pants back last minute right before the holidays when I needed them. Won’t be using this service again.

Olivia: Positive: Professionalism, ResponsivenessI needed a bridesmaid dress altered with very short notice. Stephen was very responsive and forthright about recommended alterations. The shop is in the Western Market.Service: Alterations

Jennifer C. Hooper: UPDATE: I took the dress to a tailor in London, UK and they fixed the bust of my dress in 3 hours and changed me less than $30. I repeat, don’t bring your clothes here. Huge ripoff. If you’re thinking about altering your clothes here, I’d look elsewhere. I took a long evening dress to get altered, specifically around the bust (too big) and the length (too long). When ‘Stephen’ was done with the measurements, he informed me that it would be $110 to make the alterations, as it would be intricate work to fix the bust. I thought this was quite high, but as this is DC, I thought maybe it was normal. He told me it would take two weeks to get this done (seemed like a LONG time), and I mentioned it was cutting it close as I needed the dress in two weeks time. He said he would call when it was done. Two days before I needed the dress, I called and there was no answer. I kept calling and finally someone answered the day I needed to leave. He had me waiting on the phone for a while as he ‘couldn’t find the dress’. He finally finds it and says it’s ‘ready’. I pick up the dress (he basically pushed me out the door when I picked it up) but didn’t have time to try it on as I needed to finish packing as I was leaving that night for the UK. If I had not called, I don’t think they ever would have called me, and I know why... I try on the dress and it’s an actual disaster. I don’t think ‘Stephen’ did ANYTHING to fix the bust. It fit EXACTLY the same as when I first tried it on. He charged me $110 for absolutely nothing. He fixed the length, and that’s it. Even if I had tried the dress on in DC, it still would have been a disaster as there would have been no time to fix the dress before my trip. I now have to buy a new dress for this wedding. Do NOT bring your clothing to this establishment. They are dishonest and will take your money to basically do nothing. You’ve been warned.

Blehbo Boogins: I gave these guys an unreasonable task (tailor a crappy, oversized suit to fit my tiny body in less than 24 hours) and not only did they perform the miraculous feat of making a Men's Warehouse suit look exquisite but they did it faster than either of us anticipated. Of course I paid to get this expedited but the prices were very reasonable for the quality of work you get. No corners were cut and every attention to detail was paid. They also triple-checked their work with me before I walked out of the store, to be absolutely sure I was happy with everything. And I forgot to mention just how professional and friendly the staff was. All of my future suit tailoring is going to be exclusively done here from now on.

Daniel Kim: I bought a pair of nudie jeans for $180. Got them patched twice, spent $30 elsewhere, but that tailor moved locations. I go to them, and I think they saw a student and treated me like a joke. I paid $30 for them to sew up 3 locations that probably took 10 minutes max. The pants don't hold in the same locations, and are falling apart already after like 10 wears. Shoddy work on these, and had other pants tapered here that they did okay. I'll have to look for a better tailor.

Alexa Lardieri: I've gone here twice for a simple hem on some yoga pants. The pants came out good and the tailors actually listen to you instead of just measuring and pinning where they think things should fall. The price is also reasonable. I'll definitely be back for future hems. The only downside is that they say they will call you within a week to let you know when your clothes are done but they didn't call me either time and I had to contact them a week later to check if my pants were done.

Elizabeth Jacobs: Couldn't recommend them more. They do consistently great work at reasonable prices. I used to take clothes over to my local dry cleaner to get hemmed/altered and I can see a big difference in the stitching quality. They've also helped me with some very last minute modifications and had a dress altered within 24 hours for me to wear at graduation. Great service.

Master Tailors of Georgetown: what do users think?

Sarah Joseph: Got my wedding dress altered here! I'd been hesitant to bring my wedding dress to a place that mostly seems to do men's clothing, but Waheid and team did a wonderful job. He gave really excellent, informed suggestions on how to alter the back bodice of the dress, which I hadn't considered at all. The original price range I was quoted here was lower than anywhere else I'd taken the dress for other quotes in DC, and in the end I was charged on the way low end of the spectrum, even though I came in for multiple fittings. This process did take about two months (so ladies I would just give yourself a good amount of time prior to your big day to get these alterations done), but was definitely worth the wait. Service: Alterations

Rishi Kumar: Master Tailors is my go-to tailor. The place is prompt, reasonably priced, and professional. If you aren't sure exactly how a piece should fit, they will give you advice on how to get it tailored. For example, I bought a tweed jacket that was too big, but I didn't know quite how it should have fitted--they used pins to show me a couple alternate fits, and I chose the one I liked better.

Colin Carmello: Waheid is great! I had forgotten that I ordered a second pair of pants for my last suit, which he had called me about a long time ago, and when I walked in today, he remembered it within moments, without even going over my name. He has a lot of fabric patterns to work with and produces good quality suits.

Charlotte C.: I’m extremely happy with the work they have done on everything I have had tailored here, including a very expensive dress that required complicated sewing to have it taken in at the waist. I would trust him with even my nicest clothes, and that’s certainly not something I have ever been able to say before. The quality of the tailoring is top. If you don’t want to worry that your clothes might get ruined (something that has happened to me many times, even with tailors with great ratings and reviews) then the prices are well worth it. Service: Alterations

Joseph Scheidler: I had a great first (edit: and second and third) experience with Waheid. I had a French cuff shirt taken in and sleeves shortened, same for a suit jacket and pants. All were well done. In addition, with the pants I had just thought about shortening them but Waheid was able to make them fit me much better throughout the entire leg. Found my tailor

A Bonsu: I have used Waheid for years and let me tell you this, he is absolutely brilliant with alterations. I've used a lot of tailors and none compares to him. Great prices and extremely professional.

H.L.L.: Really understand how a garment should fit.Service: Alterations

Andrew Okuyiga: I needed alterations for a tuxedo on a short timeline and they did a great job. They were patient and listened to my preferences. Highly recommend

omid noory: What an amazing place... I toke my suit to them to size for a next day wedding and he got it done for me the same day... I highly recommend Master Tailors of Georgetown

David Miller: They were great and fast. They were a day behind but I had alot of alterations that needed to be done. Friendly and courteous.

Linea Pitti Custom Tailoring: what do users think?

Ervin Prifti: Absolutely overpriced. I had to pay 90 dollars for a small stitching on my blazer's sleeve. ..3 times the market price in DC. Do not recommend!Service: Alterations

Sara Estep: I brought in a pair of vintage Levi’s I’d purchased online without knowing my sizing that were about 2 sizes too big. I didn’t want to put visible darts in them for cheap which you can have done at any laundromat. I wanted someone who would fully seam rip them and cut them to size, while maintaining the intended vintage fit. Yes, this is more pricy, but it also takes a lot more time and skill and they did a superb job. It was worth every penny for the work they put into these. I also had a dress taken in and it fits perfectly. Highly recommend. Service: Alterations

Andrew Bunting: I've never heard of a tailor charge for simple measurements, especially if they are trying to garner your business. Not the best first impression, and, regardless of how excellent their work may be, this poor interaction resulted in the decision not to patronize this business in the future (edited). Update: The business reached out about this review directly. While I stand by the fact that charging for simple measurements is not industry standard, I must note that their customer service outreach is impressive. While I will still not be going back, I do appreciate the outreach.

Jimmy Bernot: Excellent work from a very experienced tailor. Did a fantastic job on my suits. You get what you pay for here -- high quality, professional work. I learned a lot about suits by asking questions and learning from his 40+ years of experience as a tailor. Happy to have a regular tailor now that who will give recommendations and consultations on garments.

Justin Swain: Ihsan Dura, owner and master tailor, is an old world craft person his work and that of his tailors is excellent. I observe that both for my clothes and other clients in the shop at times of my visits are very well made or altered. Ihsan and the tailors working with him can actually create a well fitting custom made suit and other garments. I encourage customers use the claim/work ticket ID and place their evaluation of services via Google.

Shawn S.: Ihsan and his team are masters of their craft. I have brought in several suits and sportcoats for alterations, and Ihsan is always ready with recommendations to make the garment look its best. The results are almost always spot on the first time, and if they're not he's been able to fix the problems quickly. The work isn't exactly cheap, but I think it's worth it for the level of attention and skill they bring to the job.

Janet Morris: In this modest little shop you will find real professionals at work who take pride in their craft and have many years of experience. They have been my family's tailors for many years, and I highly recommend them.

Kate Geder: Do not ever use this company. They removed the bodice from a dress that I took there to be shortened and put the bodice back on the dress 90 degrees off from the skirt. To make matters worse, they cut into the side of the dress to attach a zipper creating a new seam.

Michael Ablan: Ihsan and his crew are great. Not the cheapest around (but not the most $$$$ either) but they do give discounts every once in a while, especially if you're a repeat customer. Good work and turnaround time.

Norman Eisen: Best alterations and tailoring in DC. I have been going there for years, and Ishan and his crew are simply the finest in town, bar none. Don't know what I would do without them!

Express Alterations: what do users think?

Victoria Robitaille: really sad to give a bad review but I brought a pair of shorts (~ $130) here to be taken in at the waist and they were completely ruined. I think they just cut a triangular shape out of the back and stitched it together which has resulted in the back pockets practically touching at the middle seam, the waist is still not snug, and a very strange fit through the legs. I paid $30 for alterations on these already expensive shorts. I’ve wasted approximately $160 since these are unwearable. I’m really disappointed.

Craig Povey: I called to ask if she could take some measurements for a suit I needed to order online, and she said "sure". Then I showed up 5 minutes later and she was incredibly rude to me; for example, as I was writing down the measurements she was taking (yes, she made me write them down for her), she kept telling me to "hurry up, I'm very busy". And then after rushing me through, acting like she was doing me a favor, she charged me $20 for literally 3 minutes of her time. Terrible customer service, will never be back.

Daniel Sweeney: Had a pretty big emergency before a photo shoot and needed some clothing steamed and fixed up within about 1.5 hours. While space may be limited, they worked fast and effectively. Everything came out looking great and was back to us within 1 hour. We really appreciated the quick service and goof quality of the work they did on our clothing.

Garrett Cottingham: I called this store to ask if they could do a same-day turnaround to fix broken tailoring on a pair of pants. I was able to get 5 seconds into my question before "Ms Anna" cut me off and said "I am here every day. Goodbye". She would not answer the phone when I tried to call her back. What a lousy excuse for customer service.

La Mitchell: Ms. Anna was very nice, I called her because the place where I ordered my daughter's dress for prom did not fit and Ms. Anna told me to bring the dress in measured my daughter and she fixed it 4 days before my daughter's prom, she is great.

Justyn Hintze: Absolutely amazing tailor experience!!! I will never take my alteration elsewhere.

Kyong's Cleaner and Alterations: what do users think?

Chelsea Clarke: Everytime I come into Kyong's, I look forward to the owner's friendly faces and courteous service! I've had terrible experiences with dry cleaners, and until I met Kyong's I always worried about taking clothes to dry cleaners to then get destroyed. Their prices are reasonable and I'm always happy with the quality I receive back from them. Plus, they are just a great people. Thanks Kyong's for your continuous great service and friendly faces. You've made a loyal customer!

Gautier Ferran: Don’t go there! One of my worst local service experiences. I dropped two pairs of shoes to get the soles glued. I had to go back there three times to get my shoes back and only one pair was fixed. First time, shoes were no ready on pick up date indicated. Second time, they had simply given my shoes to another client! They also pretended that I had kept a shoe with me which was wrong - they had it but couldn’t find it since the shop is completely unorganized. They finally were able to get my shoes back but they’re super unprofessional and careless people. They also never keep you posted - you’re the one who have to call. My advice: don’t go there if you want to have your items back!

Samuel Marcus: Lost the pants to a suit I had cleaned and insisted that I had, and this is for real, the pants in my apartment. The owners are not only unkind, but also untrustworthy, and one of them threatened violence against me when I became firm regarding the need for him to reimburse me. I have made no progress in getting my clothes back, and the owners appear to have no interest in making said progress.

Sarah Mehrotra: So kind and always do a wonderful job!

Bryan Arnold: Very friendly people who always know me when I go in. I have used several dry cleaners in the area over the years and everyone has an issue if you go often enough, but Kyong's has had the fewest. And if there is a problem they will work to resolve it with great attitudes.

Lauren Syring: Best In DC! Kind and personal service. Have been to many other dry cleaners and no other spot compares.

Sean Marrett: Good work and incredibly friendly service. Reliable cleaning. Alterations that have made a difference to my family and look good. We are big fans.

Sarah OMalley: Store was open, I walked in, no one was at the counter (which was fine). I said hello and waited. Said hello again, waited several minutes. No one ever showed up, though I heard movement and rustling, so I left. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Adam Liss: Saved us from the shoddy work of another tailor. Incredibly friendly, amazing quality of work, and very flexible around schedule. Couldn't recommend more.

Cody Laliberte: Very nice people, and the only place I'll have alterations done in DC

Baytok Bespoke Tailoring: what do users think?

Noah Miller: Very good. I needed a pair of pants shortened by about an inch and half. I looked at reviews of other places to get alterations in the Georgetown area, but Baytok's looked like the most promising. The fellow who runs this store was excellent - he took time to make sure the pants length was just what I wanted (slight break). They were ready ahead of time and fit as I had hoped. Price was reasonable: $25. To be honest, best tailoring I have come across in years. Yes, I can recommend.

Gregory Burnette: Baytok offers the finest in professionalism and service. I have limitations in my physic but he manages to make feel like a Top Model when I get dressed .

B C: Baytok is a perfectionist. And wonderful service. The best in Washington.

Aaron Gardner: Excellent experience and customer service. Highly recommended.

Tailoring by Esmeralda: what do users think?

Barbara Colberg: I recently had some dress pants altered by Esmeralda (shortened leg length; new hem). I found her business after searching for a tailor on Yelp and was impressed by the raving reviews and by the option for in-home sizing appointments. I decided to have the sizing done in her store, which is very conveniently located in Old Town Alexandria. There was plenty of nearby street parking when I went at 10:00 on a Wednesday and I parked on the next block (I believe the street parking was free). The interior of the shop is bright and clean. She quickly took and marked the measurements on the pants and told me that the pants could be delivered to my home on Saturday morning. Her delivery person dropped the pants off around 9:30 am on Saturday. The length of the pants is now perfect. I was impressed by the quality of the work, the quick turnaround time, the great customer service, the ease of booking an appointment, and the cost ($20). I would absolutely go to Esmeralda for any other tailoring or alteration needs and I highly recommend her. Service: Alterations

Rebekah Mann: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueEsmeralda is fantastic! Not only is she super sweet but also she did such amazing work on my gown. She offered such helpful suggestions and really took into consideration all my needs for the dress. I highly recommend and am so happy I found the perfect tailor!Service: Alterations

Hailey Lane: Good considering the short notice. Had the same bridesmaid dresses for two different weddings (in different colors) tailored at 2 different tailors. This one was $30 cheaper, but the other one definitely fit better. So just a matter of weighing what is more important.

Mika Perfecto Di Valerio: I am thrilled that I found Esmeralda. I absolutely hate getting alterations done at a store. Booking an appointment with Esmeralda is super easy and she and her husband are very punctual. I had Esmeralda alter my wedding dress as well as add some bling details...it was perfect! She is such a wonderful person and she makes everything easy and comfortable. I loved her service so much that I had her alter a bunch of my husband's clothes as well. I definitely recommend Esmeralda and her husband and will continue to have all my alteration services done by them! Service: Alterations

Becky Reagan: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ResponsivenessI cannot recommend Tailoring by Esmeralda enough! Esmeralda met me at my apartment, was very professional, got my measurements perfect and even recommended a more cost effective way to attach a belt to my dress. She tailored two bridesmaid dresses for me and now they fit perfectly. It doesn't get any more convenient than this!Service: Alterations

John Bergin: I had an amazing experience with Esmeralda; I am never going to another tailor again. The prices were very reasonable, she was responsive with a quick turnaround, and the tailoring was of tremendous quality. Within seconds of looking at my garment she knew exactly what I wanted done, and the ease of being able to do it all in my own home was great especially nowadays. Service: Alterations

Aubriana Wolferts: Truly could not recommend Esmeralda enough. First of all, her prices are very reasonable. I have been shocked by what some people charge to hem a dress here. She was so kind, professional, efficient, and the home fitting was extremely convenient. She was able to tailor my bridesmaid dress for a wedding on a relatively short timeline. The work was done immaculately and for less money than I was anticipating (she was honest about the second layer not needing to be hemmed even though I expected to be charged for it!!). Also, when my dress was dropped off she included a sewing kit and lint roller, which was the sweetest touch. So pleased!!! Service: Alterations

Rebecca Dai: Esmeralda is so amazing! 1) great tailoring work 2) very reasonable pricing 3) great communication and responsiveness Currently they do pick ups and drop offs wherever you are, which is super convenient, but I know they are working on getting their brick & mortar open soon. The tailoring job I gave was not easy either - I needed a wrap, high-low dress shortened by 4 or 5 inches, and there was an additional piece of cloth around the hem. Additionally, there was a tear in the hem that I mentioned didn't need to be fixed, but she took the extra cloth and went above and beyond to fix it. It looks perfect and I will definitely be back in the future. Service: Alterations

Hunter Gomez: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueI get almost every article of my wardrobe tailored. I have tried countless tailors throughout the DMV area. Esmeralda has by far the best customer service and quality of tailoring. You also can't beat the fact she drives to you --> tailors --> and then will drop off the items back to you. Exceptional quality and worth.Service: Alterations

Sarah Curtin: Best seamstress/tailor EVER! First of all, she comes TO YOU. Talk about convenient! You can schedule online through her website. She is extremely accessible; you can call and/or text her and she always responds! You also pay online through her secure billing system. (You'll receive an email.) Her prices are VERY reasonable. However, it's her SKILL that really earns the FIVE STARS. I first found Esmeralda while searching for someone to hem a formal dress for a wedding. She came to my condo and had it pinned in a few minutes! (This was a bit last minute as I found the dress only about 2 weeks before the wedding.) She brought the dress back several days before the wedding so that there was time to make any adjustments if needed, but it was already PERFECT! (She's so kind and considerate that she even helped me choose the right pair of earrings to go with the dress from a variety I was considering.) I got so many compliments at the wedding! Then I ordered a comforter that arrived with a crooked bottom edge. I didn't even realize until Esmeralda explained it to me that the real problem was that the bottom edge was a plain seam and was not properly finished. (This would not have shown at the top after folding down the sheet, but I couldn't just flip the comforter because the design can only go in one direction.) She finished it properly, folding the seam inward, and carefully handstitching the last bit. Again, PERFECT! I have a hard time finding jeans to fit. Consequently, when I find a pair that does, I wear it to pieces - - literally. I had 5 pairs of jeans that had various tears and pulls, and I'm too old to pull off the look of jeans that are supposed to have holes and openings, so Esmeralda to the rescue; she patched them up neatly with matching thread and made them all wearable again. This saved me buying all new jeans (which is also a huge chore because of my difficult fit). After the jeans, Esmeralda just expertly tailored 4 dresses for me, 3 knit and one regular cotton, in order to best flatter my figure and /or hang properly. Although off the rack, they now look like they were made just for me! However, her pièce de resistance was making cushions for my 4 outdoor lounge chairs. They are round, satellite style and have a unique, semi-triangular seat shape. I found some mid century modern-esque outdoor fabric (to compliment the period satellite style), and she made the most BEAUTIFUL cushions with foam inside that's made specifically for outdoor. She included ties at the back corners to secure them and hidden back zippers so if necessary I can take off the covers and wash them. They PERFECTLY match the image I had in my mind of how I wanted them to look! Esmeralda can do it ALL! You will NOT be disappointed!
Response: Thanks so much Sarah! Always a pleasure visiting with you!

BeFitted Tailoring Co.: what do users think?

Michelle Orozco: Diane and Michelle were an absolute delight to work with. For some context, it took me a long time to decide on a dress for my wedding. I finally bought this dress online because I was running out of time and I had lukewarm feelings about it. I just needed something to wear! At my first fitting, Diane and Michelle made me feel confident in my dress. They were so kind, patient and reassured me when I was feeling down and defeated about my choice. They listened to all my concerns and made their own suggestions. I knew I was leaving my dress in good hands! My dress needed to be hemmed, taken in at the hips, have cups added as well as a beautiful bustle that was easy to use. They also readjusted some of the appliqué on the sleeves that stuck out too much for my taste. I had two fittings in total. Diane and Michelle provide a premium service and deliver premium quality. If I ever need alterations for a formal dress, I am coming back here!

Natalie Lyles: BeFitted altered my wedding dress and also helped dry clean and preserve my dress. They were so kind and I found their emails and recommendations super helpful. I thought the pricing was fair for the amount of intricacy of my dress. I loved that they took the time to listen to what I had to say, and they pointed out things I wouldn't have even noted about my dress since I don't know much about sewing. After the wedding, they made it seamless to drop the dress off for cleaning and I appreciated that the dress didn't come back in a huge giant box! I had such a wonderful, personalized experience and I would recommend these ladies to any of my girlfriends getting married! Service: Alterations

Allison Porto: The REAL freaking DEAL! These ladies live up to the hype (I know there are so many good reviews here already). They were so kind, gentle, and fun. I looked forward to all of my fittings and my dress came out PERFECTLY! The dress really looked like it had not even been sewn or adjusted at all; I felt way more confident leaving my dress here since they are specialized and only do bridal. Diane even steamed my veil and such for me when she really didn't have to. You can tell this team loves what they do and they are so welcoming. I can't thank them enough for helping me get my dream dress and making me feel comfortable and beautiful in the process! Also the location was pretty easy to find and the inside of the studio is super cute and their aesthetic is super chic! Services: Design , Alterations , General repairs

Kate Beacom: Do not take your dress here. They are careless and expensive. I was rushed to make an appointment early because of the pandemic and they didn't know how long they were going to be open or how long it was going to take to make alterations. I was rushed during the appointment because they had overbooked clients and had multiple brides in the salon at the same time. I barely had time to put the dress on before I was rushed to give you my credit card. The time spent analyzing the dress was not sufficient and the seamstress was moving too fast and was not listening to what I wanted to do with the dress. I was told that the things that I wanted were included in the quote and they were not. Making the price I ended up paying for the alterations even more insanely high. I ended up taking my gown to another seamstress, she took impeccable care of the dress and charged half the price. She said that the BeFitted Tailoring team did a terrible job taking care of the dress, there were snags in the dress from pins and needles, the cuts in the gown were sloppy and not consistent, the seams in the dress were done over the boning and not properly completed. You can see where the seamstress sewed the bra cups into the dress through the front of the dress because the job was done too quickly. There was puckering happening with the fabric because the fabric was not matched up properly when they sewed the dress back together. I brought up multiple concerns during my fitting and I was told that they would be addressed at my final fitting before the wedding or that they were not issues. Which I now know were lies and ways to just rush me out of the shop. They refused to listen to my requests to fix the dress and were reckless with my designer gown. I would never recommend another bride take her dress here, you will regret it. Service: Alterations
Response: Hi Kate, Thanks for your taking the time to share your feedback. Reviews like this are hard to read, especially when we felt like we had such positive, lovely experiences in-studio with you. We know this extended pandemic has been tough for everyone, especially brides (I believe a full year had passed from the time of your pick-up fitting by the time you had your wedding), and we’re happy to hear you were able to have your wedding and to wear your dress the way you wanted to. We had offered several times to go through another fitting on the dress closer to your rescheduled date and invited you back to the studio, and respected your decision when you chose not to let us take another look. We now wish we would have contended harder for that recommendation so we could make the situation right. Out of respect for your privacy, we won’t divulge any additional information about your dress (including those explained in detail via email over the course of several months) outside of the ones you mentioned in this review. Every tailor executes their alterations differently and we may not have shared methods with your secondary tailor. For example, for us, when we handle semi-sheer fabrics that are unadorned, bra cups are always sewn delicately on the inside of the dress because if you sew them between the lining layer or stitch them down entirely, you will see the rim of the cup from the outside and/or the stitches will pucker through visibly. It is for this same reason that we did not recommend sewing down attachments for dress accessories as they would be visible and prominent on unaccented, minimal style gowns. As a general rule, we do not ever create new seams (so the seams referred to are original) or interfere with boning or bust darts (touching the boning can deflate the dress and change the structure; leaving the original design is almost always the default choice). Looking at our notes, your dress was taken in on the existing side seams which is fairly standard practice. It is though possible that fitting pins left indentations; those can be removed using a special steam iron and I wish we could have pressed those out for you! Your feedback about appointment times and scheduling are well-taken, and truthfully, operating during COVID has been hard and frustrating at times for all of us. Since March 2020 (we first saw you in May right as we first cautiously reopened to take appointments again), we’ve been on our COVID-19 operating protocol. At the time, we shortened our appointments in alignment with recommendations from the city health department to minimize contact that has to be within 6 feet of individuals to 15-20 mins (of course tailoring requires getting within that 6-ft zone). That situation is a little better now that we have vaccines and feel a little safer remaining masked and getting in physical proximity to clients, but still, that doesn’t make for an ideal situation for any of us, and we apologize for that inconvenience. It seems like your big day has now come and gone, and we genuinely wish you the very best especially after a collectively-difficult (almost) two years. We are sorry that this was not the experience you hoped for; it was certainly not our intention to leave you feeling this way. We’ll take this feedback to learn and grow and improve our processes along the way. All the best, Michelle and Diane

Rachel Lamar: I had a great experience with BeFitted. My dress and alterations came out perfectly. I had scheduled super early due to covid and I had never even been to the shop or area. I was welcomed in and my dress fit perfectly. They were very responsive and I had requested another appointment due to losing weight and they quickly accommodated my request. I highly recommend! Thank you! Service: Alterations

Chantal Girard: Absolutely wonderful service and beautiful work! Having a very simple dress, I wasn’t sure what it needed prior to my wedding day, but these women knew exactly what I needed! They were supportive of the vision I had and helped make my dress fit my shape and my personality perfectly. They also sent me with a wedding day “game plan” packet to help us with the bustle on the day and with information on caring for my gown. Would absolutely recommend to any bride! Dianna C: WOW! What wonderful human beings with such a gift and artistry for wedding dresses. I wanted to make sure I got the best of wedding vendors so I booked with Befitted and I am so glad I did. The dress was perfect and they went above and beyond to make sure I was heard and that my dress not only looked flawless but also felt comfortable and good for me to wear all night (I spent this much on a dress, I was insistent on being able to wear it all night long without changing!). Their instructions were very clear, they took COVID seriously, and their helpful tips and underwear advise was so clutch since it's hard to know what to buy. I am so happy with the way my dress came out and that I got to support a local business in the process. I'm telling all of my friends to come here in the future and would do it again just for fun and an excuse to see these ladies! Services: Design , Alterations

Dani King: The most memorable part of wedding planning in the best way possible! Diane and Michelle were so gentle and extremely kind to an anxious bride like me; my dress came out perfect and every trip to their cute studio was something I looked forward to. They tell you exactly what to bring, are very organized with scheduling, and very kind people. They are bridal only so heads up that you don't tailor other items. They even helped do rush alterations on my reception dress which came kind of late in the mail due to COVID. They also helped draw a picture of my bustle for my maid of honor and the bustle as super easy which was great on the actual wedding day. Am itching for an excuse to come back and just sent my mom here for her dress she's wearing to my brother's wedding! Services: Design , Alterations

Megan Riehle: I can't say enough kind things about Michelle and Diane -- they are WONDERFUL! My wedding dress was far too big for me when I brought it in and they basically had to remake the entire dress. It was a lot of work for them but they made sure that it fit me perfectly. I also asked them (mere weeks before my wedding) to remove the massive train off the back of my gown. They were more than happy to do it and gave me the dress of my dreams. I would absolutely recommend them for alterations! Service: Alterations

Natalie Yuravlivker: Michelle and Diane are lovely and incredibly talented. The back of my dress had weird set of buttons that didn't really match the rest of the design. They took that out and sewed the area beautifully. They also tighten the top of dress and improved the fit perfectly.

Lucas Custom Tailor & Cleaners: what do users think?

Chiki1989 Gamer: My suit was altered at Lucas tailor in George town dc . it is excellent jobs, because it was huge should, too long length, it fit really good, excellent fit, actually it was my dad's suits. He is real master tailor in D.C. I can tell. One more thing, after alter we order a dry cleaning, It was excellent job too, so I told them, I would do a reference at Google. Thanks again...

Andrew Evans: This place is amazing, they recently just came under new management and man they change everything. I came in and was helped by a man named Luke. I had an idea to make one shirt out of three shirts, he saw my vision from the start, and was equally as excited as I was to see the finished product. I loved my experience with Lucas tailor and cleaning def recommend to all.

Caroline Chisolm: Do not use Lucas Tailor for tailoring or dry cleaning. I got a ballgown hemmed and they charged me an arm and a leg. When I went to pick it up the zipper was stuck and the seamstress that was in told me I probably should stop eating now. Additionally, during the 15 minutes I was in the shop three separate customers came in to pick up dry cleaning and eat had an issue. They lost one man's shirt entirely, another was missing buttons, and a woman's top was very clearly not actually cleaned.

Insun Hwang: They have been doing almost 30 years !!! Mr. Lucas, who is master tailor's job is marvelous ~ He is good reputation among those who had done tailoring job from him~ I would recommend the tailor shop strongly !!

Jameson Wheeler: I've had many suits tailored here. No suit ever fits me well so good tailoring is a must. These people do really great work.

matilde Olvera: very unprofessional place, not nice costumer service

Luke Hwang: You can have good opportunity Now, Lucas Tailor & Cleaners are 20% off Tailoring by Master Tailor

Anytime Alterations: what do users think?

Shameka Williams: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueThey are LIFESAVERS. I had a major wedding emergency. I dropped my dress off on a Friday and she had my dress ready in less than a week for my wedding. I was amazed by the customer service and quality of the work. I have finally found someone to fix all my clothes. I would highly recommend them.Service: Alterations
Response: Shameka, Thank you for your kind words, we look forward to taking care of your alteration needs in the new year! Maria Luz

Grace Manno: I am so grateful I found Anytime Alterations for my wedding dress! I was panicking because my bridal shop didn’t have any appointments, so I was recommended here & could not be happier. I really wanted to add sleeves to my dress, and I called multiple places that said they could not do it. Maria did not even hesitate when I told her about my vision for my dress and she made it happen more beautifully than I imagined! I got so many compliments about the sleeves specifically on my wedding day. All the alterations were perfect and timely! I needed my dress ready earlier than anticipated and she was able to get it ready for me on time.
Response: Grace, Thank you for your lovely review. Real pleasure working for your most important day, so glad to be part of it. Maria Luz

Sandy Piper: My dress looked amazing. I wish we took before and after pictures to really capture the work done because my dress looks like it came from the designer ready-to-wear. I planned a wedding in two months and had to get an off-the-rack dress. My dress was two sizes too big and had sleeves. Maria took the dress apart, made it fit, and specialized it, so now my dress is an exclusive <3! Service: Alterations
Response: Sandy, You look amazing! Thank you for taking time to write a lovely review. Maria Luz

R Hussain: Seems like more of a wedding dress type place. I took in two pairs of pants and a casual top, and prices were very high for the work. There is no price list, so I think prices also went up $10 when I walked in…. I don’t love that method of doing business, but I understand it has its place. I ended up going elsewhere after doing a round of fittings. Seems like it would be a good place for a wedding dress, just not sure I just wouldn’t take other items there.
Response: We are in receipt of your review and sorry to see you felt your experience merited a 2 star rating. We appreciate you understanding the lack of template pricing. We price to match each piece, as we believe the work involved is unique to each client. Please let us know, however, how we could have provided a 5 star experience for you. Maria Luz

Zania Del Villar: Maria really pulled through, my husband needed two slacks hemmed, one that he needed for a wedding the next day. Sure enough she was able to help us out at the last minute, truly a life saver!
Response: We appreciate you taking the time to write us a review. Hope to see you soon. Maria Luz

Mimi Nguyen: I brought a few fabrics to make 2 custom pieces and had a wonderful experience working with Maria. Very professional and worked with me to design what I wanted and I got lots of compliments on the pieces. They get super busy with wedding season so make sure to drop off with time to spare!
Response: Mimi I'm so happy you are able to enjoy it, thank you for the advice! Maria Luz

anne Lessin: Over the summer my daughter worked with Maria to have her wedding dress altered. The shop was safe and accommodating to the circumstances due to the virus. Maria is kind and works fast. The alterations were coming along nicely. My daughter picked the dress up a few days before the wedding and was told by Maria not to open it until the wedding day. On the big day she put on the dress and sadly there was a small hole in the front which Maria had said would be sewn and taken care of. Thankfully this hole was hardly visible when worn. Her bouquet hid it completely. The day was wonderful. We spent a great deal for the alterations and were not pleased to find the dress unfinished.
Response: Ms Lessin, my apologies for checking this note this late. I couldn't fine a bride with your last name to address this matter. Please call me at your convenience to 301-789-9855 or text me to talk about it. I know the wedding is gone but I'm sure I can do something about it. Maria Luz

Lexi B: I cannot speak highly enough about this business and Maria. She took a dress that was my grandmother's, approximately 60 years old, and modernized it into something beautiful for my bridal shower. It made surprising my grandmother a beautiful moment that warmed both our hearts. Thank you such much Maria and Anytime Alterations. You definitely have my business in the future!!! Service: Alterations
Response: Thank you Lexi, I'm glad you are able to use it again. See you soon! Maria Luz

Stephanie Bonadies: Maria altered my allover lace wedding gown to perfection. The bust was taken in, the delicate train hemmed only on the sides, and a bustle was added. She also created my veil for me, and took in my rehearsal dinner jumpsuit. Maria is highly skilled, professional, fairly priced, and fun to work with! I received so many complements on my wedding day and thanks to Maria my gown looked like it was made just for me. I highly recommend Anytime Alterations and will absolutely be going back to in the future!
Response: Stephanie, it was real pleasure working with you. Beautiful bride. I'll appreciate you support.

Niesha Okoh: I’ve gone to Anytime Alterations twice now to fix/edit a few clothing items. She does an amazing job and getting the perfect fit. You can go in with an idea of how you want the item to be done and she will make it happen no matter how difficult the task. For instance, I took in a skirt that had a broken zipper and was too tight. She was able to not only repair the zipper but she expanded the skirt using fabric from the skirt. As a newcomer to the DC area, I’m glad I was able to find a seamstress who’s affordable, knowledgeable and as handy as she is!! I highly recommend this shop!
Response: Great words to start our week!, Thank you Niesha for taking time to leave your comments. Hope to see you soon! Maria Luz

Georgetown Cleaners & Tailors: what do users think?

David Lysenko: Absolute mess of a cleaners. I gave them my $180 comforter to dry clean and when they gave it back it had shrunk by 6 inches in one direction and 8 inches in the other. Now I have to buy a new one since the comforter is shorter than my body. They also shrunk one of my dress shirts. I tried to at least get my $30 back that they charged me for the cleaning, but they refused. I have no idea how they are still in businesses when they shrink your clothes and treat their customers like garbage. DO NOT GO HERE. There is another dry cleaner a block away. Just go there instead.

Maxim Istomin: I'm honestly a little surprised by David's review in which he said that they shrunk his blanket. In order for them to have shrunk it, they presumably must have put it in some sort of washing machine. Based on the fact that I got all my dress shirts back with sweat stains still on them, I'm skeptical that they did anything with them at all before returning them to me. I didn't realize that they were unwashed until I got home and when I returned to explain what happened, they said that they wouldn't refund me since I couldn't prove that they were the same shirts. Don't waste your time or money here. Just go to the place 2 blocks over.

Victoria Lee: On-time, professional, straight forward pricing :) I'd go again

M Moore: Great on shirts well priced and fast
