Picture Frame Factory: what do users think?

Lesley Anne Warner: Terrible service. Person working there was impatient and acted like the pieces I was trying to frame were cheap and that he didn’t need my money. I went to ArtFolio and spent my $3500 framing my work instead and they did an amazing job. Don’t waste your time with this place.

Farha Tahir: I've gotten two large pieces framed at Picture Frame Factory and each was meticulously, carefully, and beautifully done. The pricing was comparable to others I spoke with, and the Picture Frame Factory team was flexible with pickup. I'll definitely be going back.
Response: Thank you so much Farha for your excellent review! As a small business at this time, your kindness and loyalty mean so much! We greatly appreciate the time you took to support us!

Emily Benson: Picture Frame Factory is great! They are always on time, if not early, with framing projects, and they offer reliable, excellent work. We've had several odd requests (having graffiti canvasses framed, oddly sized custom prints, etc.), and Picture Frame Factory always does a wonderful job. For the latest piece, he even added a custom (and very large!) mat for our piece at no additional charge. He also helped me get it into the Uber XL I had to order to get it home. This is a really fantastic shop, and they've helped our house become a home. We're running out of wall space, but we'll be back when we up-size!

Robert Grimm: True artistic craftsmanship at this shop and wonderful people to work with. They have done several pictures for me now and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for framing.
Response: It was a pleasure meeting you! Thank you so much for your excellent review It really means a great deal to us for you to take the time to support our small business. Thanks again! Kamran

Alissa Swango: I'm very happy with the selection and quality of my framing job. The owners were adamant about getting the job right, and I appreciate the faster-than-expected turn around times. The backing + hanger is super secure and nicer than other places I've used.

Jillian MacMaster: Picture Frame Factory did such an amazing job at mounting an original piece of art to foam board. I will definitely return in the future. They are so kind and accommodating. I had a great experience!
Response: Thank you so much Jillian!! Best of luck to you on your exhibition tonight.

Rahi Patel: The Picture Frame factory did an incredible job making a custom frame for a beautiful print I purchased. They walked me through all the different options and gave me their expert opinion on what would look best. They finished the custom frame early and it came out stunning! Impeccable quality and fantastic service.
Response: Thank you so much Rahi for your fabulous review! We truly appreciate your business and support. It has been a pleasure working with you on your framing needs! Kamran

Elaine Heinzman: I’ve been a Picture Frame Factory customer for almost 15 years. Kamran has a great eye for the frames and matting that will not just complement, but really showcase, the art or object you’re having framed. He’s collaborative, thoughtful, and detail-oriented about what you might be looking for. The work they’ve done on dozens of pieces I’ve brought in is incredible.
Response: Thank you Elaine for this incredible review! It means so much during this challenging time for small businesses. It truly has been a pleasure working together to achieve the perfect look for your beautiful artwork throughout the years. Kamran

Inna Rubin: They do such beautiful work! I’ve had six pieces framed here and each one turned out wonderfully. The owners are also genuinely kind. They even helped me carry my newly framed pieces out to my Uber.
Response: Inna, it is always a pleasure working with you on your awesome pieces. Thank you for taking the time to write this wonderful review!

Lindsey W.: Picture Frame Factory is one of the rare places these days that provides truly exceptional customer service. The owner and staff are not just helpful and kind, but deeply knowledgeable about frames, mats and how to best display your artwork. I had a particularly treasured photo of my son that I was having trouble finding a frame for in all the box stores, so I decided to get a bit more serious about my search and ended up here. Kamran walked me through the myriad of available options and helped me find the perfect frame. The experience was topped off by a quick turnaround and reasonable price. I'll be back!

Plaza Artist Materials & Picture Framing: what do users think?

cq ny: With Plaza Artist Materials I found a strong competitor to Blick. A great selection of notebooks for sketching, drawing and watercolor that I used to only find on Amazon but now I can buy here in person. Stop by this store for sketching, drawing and painting supplies. They also have canvases and supplies for oil and acrylic art, knitting, and other art mediums that look interesting. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Prices seem reasonable.

david hawksford: These are the worst people to deal with. Very unfriendly It's like being in a mortuary having a deal with these people. At least they have some supplies.

Will Edwards: Has frames and some basic art supplies. Nothing super special

Jon Fisher: Fantastic store with a great selection of products and very helpful and friendly staff who helped us find everything and give us advice on which materials to purchase for an art class.

Shadawn Duncan: Since starting my venture into being an artist, I spend so much the in there they know my name. I can always ask questions and get guidance and tips because all of the staff have an artist's background. Makes it easy to shop.

Georgia Hronek: I don't know a lot about art but the staff helped me out in finding my supplies. It seems like they had an okay selection except the store overall was small. I think if you're looking for something specific you might want to check their website first to see if they have it. By the way the DC angel wings mural is on the side of their building just as an FYI. I was happy with my overall experience so I'll go back to get more art supplies for my drawing class from the store. I'm not an artist though so I can't speak to how good their prices are.

Laura P: The store was bright and clean, with helpful but not intrusive or hovering staff and a very good selection of watercolor paints, paper and brushes, and many more things that I did not peruse as carefully. I had a groupon, which was awesome, since I could easily have spent much more than I did. Definitely worth checking out!

Waldo Strange: Helpful staff, good assortment of products, clean and well organized. They have a loyalty program that is free to sign up for. Dinged a star, though, because their prices are a bit high in my opinion. Would like to see better deals at least on store brand things.

Poro Mitoto: I love this location. I first started going because of the Groupon coupons that I kept seeing pop up in my recommendations. The staff is super friendly and the guy who was working the cash register the past two times that I've been went out of his way both times for me. He even helped me sign up for their savings and gave me coupons. I wish I remembered his name.

Katie E: Fantastic selection at this art store and a wonderful staff eager to help you find what you need. Their ranges of materials and the brands they carry are extensive. This place became my new go-to after Pearl closed down. I've gone in for everything from fabric dye to pens/markers, pencil sets, pads, clay-work items, etc and not once have I walked out without exactly what I was looking for. If you're looking to cut down on costs, they also have an email list that's chock full of coupons.

Framebridge Union Market: what do users think?

Tim Macchi: Great staff. Always super helpful. Some days they are definitely understaffed and you might have to wait. Prices are very reasonable and I’m happy with how my stuff has turned out
Response: Thank you for the kind words for our staff. We are delighted to hear that the frames turned out so well! We hope to see you again soon!

Khadija Jahfiya: Disappointed in my first experience at Framebridge. I scheduled an appointment a few days in advance. When I got there, there was one person working in the store and they were finishing up with a customer. They finished about ten minutes after my appointment was scheduled to start. They then proceeded to let me know that they would be helping the next customer then would get to me in about half an hour or so. I understand the circumstances and constraints that we are all living under due to COVID but I would have appreciated prior communication if there was no intention of honoring the appointment time. I would have planned my time differently. Perhaps Framebridge can consider not taking appointments on days when they will be short staffed or on days when there is less certainty on timing.
Response: Hi Khadija, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We want to ensure we provide all of our customers with a wonderful and easy experience and we are so sorry we have fallen short of that goal. I am so sorry to hear about your experience and lengthy wait. We absolutely had every intention of honoring your appointment and we were looking forward to helping you frame your art. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were not staffed as much as normal, and we had fallen behind in assisting the customers that had previous appointments. We should have absolutely informed you of this situation, and I apologize that we were unable to call you ahead of time to let you know of our delay. We truly appreciate your feedback on this experience and we have discussed this with all of our store teams to ensure a situation like this is avoided in the future. We strive to provide our customers with an experience that is seamless and reliable, and we hope you will give us another opportunity to provide you with a more standard Framebridge experience. Kind regards,

Carley Lester: This was my first time having something framed. Vanessa and Karen were patient and knowledgeable about the process and were so relatable. I ended up having 3 pictures framed for a great price and just in time for Father's Day. Highly recommend 👌🏾and will be back soon!

Cory Miller: What a gem of a store! I’ve loved going to the 14th st location and the Union Market store does not disappoint. Thanks to Matt for helping me frame some new artwork!

Manfred Phemister: Lovely store!

Angie Coates: Never been there
Response: Hi Angie! We hope that you will be able to drop in sometime soon!

Danielle Alexander: Very helpful!!

A&A Art & Frame: what do users think?

Travis Painter: I was absolutely blown away by their work. I was referred here by a friend and now, I don’t think I could ever go anywhere else. I went in a bit lost and unsure of what I wanted, but Ari went above and beyond…was patient with me, and explained every option offering his expertise. Thank you so much, and I will be seeing you soon!

Vanessa J Panaligan: Top notch quality and service! Have been going here for years to get my paintings framed. Superb customer service—friendly, efficient, and very knowledgeable of the craft. Pretty good selection of frames at reasonable prices with quite a fast turnaround.

Stacy Leopold: I highly recommend A and A. I brought in a special print to custom frame for my daughter and they did a fantastic job for a fantastic price. The owner was so helpful and nice. He did such a great job that I asked about another piece I had and he quickly came up with a great readymade frame and a custom mat, also for a great price. He knew I was leaving town the next day and he offered to try to get the framing done the same day. 2 hours later he called me and both frames were complete and both looked great. He even gave me some hooks to hang up the artwork. I felt very lucky to have found this place. Could not have been a better experience!

Margot Igland Skarpeteig: Great selection of frames and pieces of art, decent prices and fantastic and professional service! Thank you for beautiful work.

Mark Ranslem: A&A Art Framing is the best single place I've ever been for custom framing. They've done about 40 jobs for me in two years. The work is consistently high quality and reasonably priced. Plus, they offer expert creative design services. Their turn-around time is always reliable as well. I refer all my friends to them. Parking can be tough in DC, but I can usually find a spot on M St between 18th and 19th quite a bit of the time. I highly recommend them.

Mark Pietrzykoski: 1145 19th st nw.Very established fixture of the retail shops downtown DC.

Derek Summerville: Very convenient, friendly, and always high quality. Framing can be expensive so nice when it comes out exactly as you hoped.

Kevin Li: Very nice people, but my custom mat there and then

Joseph Tordella: Excellent customer service and quick work. Dropped off a custom size picture to mat and frame, and he had it done later that afternoon as perfect as I had envisioned. They do their work in house, which gives them this flexibility.

Robin Duddy-Tenbrunsel: A & A did an excellent job cutting a new mat for and re-framing a large pastel that I bought. They completed the job extremely quickly and at a much lower price than I was anticipating. I definitely recommend them!

Framebridge 14th Street DC: what do users think?

Jessica Buckley: Framebridge lost two out of three original artworks I sent. I had to inquire after 8 weeks of not receiving my order and they finally admitted they lost the art in the warehouse. They offered me about 300 insurance to cover the cost of the work. What a joke. I never should have sent the work in, however my local frame shop closed down due to covid. The one artwork they did frame fell off the mount a month after I got it. Do not send anything you care for or that cannot be replaced.
Response: The care of our customers’ art is always our number one priority and we are very sorry that we have let you down. While it’s always hard to hear such distressing news, we thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We take matters like this very seriously. Please reach out to us at support@framebridge.com us at your earliest convenience to discuss any unresolved issues. We are here to help in any way that we can.

Britney Lewis: I’ve used Framebridge numerous times and the results are always great. I visited the store recently to frame two paintings. I wanted them to match a painting I framed in 2018 and the store associates were extremely helpful in pulling up my old order and ensure everything matched.
Response: Thank you for continuing to frame with us. We love seeing frame collections grow as people find more art and moments to display on their walls!

Keri Stoever: I went in with some license plates to frame and the staff was very helpful and super friendly. I had my dog with me and they were even so sweet as to greet him and offer him a treat. I got the same stellar service when I returned to pick up my piece. A few weeks after picking up my order, I realized I had lost the hardware needed to hang the frame and when I went back to the store, they remembered me (and my dog!) and were able to give me the nails and brackets I needed. Highly recommend and will definitely be back for all my framing needs.
Response: Hi Keri! We are so glad you liked your framed license plates. We can't wait to have you and Noah back in the store soon :)

Jmorsedc: Framebridge is the most inept framing shop I’ve ever tried. I had two pieces framed there (at the same time), and both came back looking like a do-it-yourself project from a craft store. The larger piece I had framed had to be returned three times and still isn’t correct - the individual items in the frame are crooked and unevenly spaced. It looks like the person doing the project was drunk or high. Do not use them under any circumstances.
Response: We are very sorry to hear that your frames arrived with the art not straight and evenly spaced. We do have a 100% Happiness Guarantee and would appreciate the opportunity to make sure that both of your frames are perfect. Please reach out to us with your order number. You can reach us either at support@framebridge.com or through your local retail store so that we may assist in making this happen.

Julia Miller: The worst experience ever. It took two months to get two works framed. One of them was done badly so it had to be redone. My sister has had to have hers redone twice. The management at the 14th Street store also gave me attitude. This was my first experience with Framebridge and it will definitely be my last.
Response: Julia, we strive to make custom framing fun, easy, and stress-free. We are so disappointed to hear that we have fallen far short of that goal for you and your sister. Please reach out to us at support@framebridge.com so that we can discuss how to best

Sara (Bun): I've had four pieces framed at this shop -- three textiles and a print. The service is quick, helpful, and pleasant. The ambiance is friendly and since I know their stock pretty well, I can get in and out pretty quickly. Always an easy, pleasant experience. Big fan.
Response: Hi Sara, thanks for your review! We're so happy to hear that you've had a great experience in the store and hope we can help you with more projects in the future. See you soon!

Diana Shin: Horrible experience. Horrid communication and follow-through. Do not use Framebridge to frame artwork that has any sentimental or material value. I dropped off an unstretched oil on canvas painting 5 weeks ago. When I still had not received my art back after 4 weeks, I followed up with customer service. Apparently, the frame that I had ordered was out of stock, but no one on their team had bothered to inform me!! This was ironic, because several weeks earlier, one of their customer support specialists had reached out to me to suggest that I go with a different frame and also use a mat and put it behind acrylic glass, which they themselves do not advise for oil paintings. I declined. It makes me wonder if they had known earlier that the frame I ordered was out of stock, and then just literally dropped the ball until I followed up. To their credit, when I said that I did not want any of the alternative frames they suggested, they did give back a refund. However, the anxiety and time lost that I have incurred due to their carelessness has not been worth it, and I greatly regret choosing Framebridge. As of today, even after several inquiries, I still have not received confirmation that my artwork is being stored properly. Nor do I have a tracking number for the return of my artwork. Framebridge's website only shows you 5 star ratings unless you filter for the bad reviews, and it seems that there have been numerous cases where people have had their artwork damaged or lost. Now I am even more worried that after all this time and back and forth, whether I am even going to be able to receive my artwork in an undamaged condition, even if unframed.
Response: Diana, thank you for taking the time to write this review of your experience. We strive to make the process of framing fast and easy and have regrettably not lived up to that promise. We are truly sorry for the delay in communicating with you. Please know that the safety and security of art is our top priority and we apologize if our delay caused you any undue anxiety. Your art is in the condition that it was received and on it's way back to you. Our team has emailed you with a photo of your art and tracking information. If there is anything else we can do for you, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Griffin Duy: Very pleased with my Framebridge experience. Karen was great working with me to patiently find which frame I needed for my Suzanne Vega vintage article. Pleasant time and would recommend! :)
Response: We're so glad you enjoyed your visit, we loved having you!

Beth Mccollum: I love this store! Charming and friendly, I came in with a framing request for a memorial for a pet that had passed away. The staff was both incredibly helpful with suggestions on what to do (ideas on how to best frame an inked paw print) but also really kind. When my framed print arrived to my house, I was very pleased with the quality and immediately proud to hang it in memory of my furry friend. I will definitely be using Framebridge for all my framing needs!
Response: Thank you so much for leaving your review, Beth! We're so glad we could help you frame a memory of your special furry friend. We look forward to seeing you in the store again soon!

Patrick Carter: I went to Framebridge to have a family heirloom re-framed with a more modern frame. What a colossal waste of time and effort this has turned out to be... First the salesman we worked with was not at all helpful and seemed very rushed; acting like we were taking up his precious time even-though he rushed us out the door in less than 5 minutes. I specifically asked and he also assured us that the painting would be insured even when I told him the value. He did not explain that the limit on insurance was $5000 when my piece is worth several times more: He also did not explain that the art would be shipped out of the store. He asked which frame we wanted without offering suggestions. I stated I liked Beverly from what I had seen on-line. He said "Ok" and tapped away at the iPad. I asked if I could see a sample and he begrudgingly took one out of the lower drawer and placed it on the corner of the canvas only to immediately take it and place it back in the drawer; again, very rushed. The fact that he did not offer to see the frame in person was quite odd and rude. He obviously gave NO indication that the frame selected was not possible. How could he? He barely left the frame on the piece for 10 seconds... All around a horrible experience. I highly recommend that there is better training of the sales staff so this doesn't happen to other customers and trades people. They also deleted this review off their official Framebridge website.
Response: Patrick, We’re very sorry to hear of your experience at our 14th Street store. Making our customers happy is our priority and your experience certainly fell short. I understand a member of our team followed up with you today. We are appreciative for the opportunity to learn from our shortcomings and hope you will give us the opportunity to make this up to you in the future. If you have any further questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out to support@framebridge.com.

Capitol Hill Frame & Photo: what do users think?

Ian Realo: I brought in an old family portrait for Stuart to frame and he really did it justice! I'm so happy with how well he treated the piece and how nicely it was all put together. I highly recommend this shop for any framing you have. Andy is great too, he always helps me get things from my car when they're too big. Ian
Response: Ian, it was an honor to help you get that old family portrait framed up nicely! Glad to hear you're pleased with our work. Thank you very much for all your kind words. We'll be here for any future framing needs you have. -Capitol Hill Frame and Photo

Central Photo Company: Capitol Hill Frame & Photo is a trusted partner for our company and we know that all orders are received and turned around with care and efficiency. From framing historic documents and photographs to large print orders, Stuart and is staff have always given us candid and fair pricing and advice with a knowledge base and expertise to back it up. We have worked with Stuart and his staff for over 20 years and it is my pleasure to give 5 stars to his business which I know counts for something in this review based economy. It is a testament to Stuart's customer service that he has been on the Hill for 20 plus years and in a small community his reputation has ensured his success.
Response: Central Photo Company, it is truly our pleasure to provide our supportive community with our framing and printing services. We're so glad to have assisted your company many times over the past 20 years. Thanks so much for the support -- we'll be here for whatever else you need! -Capitol Hill Frame and Photo

Maggie Boys: Capitol Hill Frame and Photo did an excellent job for me. I needed 20" x 30" signs printed and mounted on foam core and I had a very tight turn around time. They worked really well with my designer and everything turned out perfectly for my event.
Response: Maggie, thank you for trusting our dedicated team to get the job completed in time for your event. We're happy to hear that everything turned out perfectly. Hoping to lend a hand in the future. -Capitol Hill Frame and Photo

Alex Johnson: Unfortunately, I had a encounter where I was deeply disrespected by one of the gentlemen working here. I stopped in to pick up a custom framed gift and was treated as if I didn’t exist. I immediately approached the register to pick up the item and waited for the employees to return to the register. After returning to the register, the employee called for a customer from another area of the store who was behind me to process his transaction first and asked me to step out of the way. I don’t know if it was the fact that I was dressed casually in a raincoat and sweatpants for the bad weather or if it was a matter of his perception of my racial identity, either way, someone waiting at the register should have been helped before someone approaching the line from behind me. I give the other employee from the back of the store credit for recognizing my dismay at the treatment and asking if I was okay. This was, however, not enough to allay the micro-aggression I had experienced. I highly discourage friends and colleagues in Congress and beyond from using the services of this store. If you believe in justice, equity, and fairness, I implore you to find an alternative.
Response: Alex, thank you for taking a moment to provide us this feedback of your recent experience. I have been in business on the Hill for over twenty years and we take pride in serving all of our customers fairly. I apologize for this misunderstanding that occurred and do not want to discredit your feelings by any means. Our goal is to be welcoming to all of our customers and I can assure you this was simply a matter of miscommunication. I am sincerely sorry that you had a negative experience with us, and hope to gain the opportunity to provide our custom framing services for you in the future. Sincerely, Stuart Capitol Hill Frame and Photo

Garrett Arwa: Came here to get a backlog of items framed. There was no wait time, and a few of the items I brought fit into ready-made frames which the they assembled for me on site. This option is recommended as it’s about half as cheap to do a pre-made frame as it is to do a custom with the cheapest frame/glass. But the ready-made frames come with a solid gram and glass, not cheap plastic. The custom jobs are not cheap, but probably about the same price as using Framebridge. Also used the wait time to get a passport photo.
Response: Garrett, finding the right framing options for your items is what we love to do! You're absolutely right that our ready-made frames are a cheaper option, so we're glad we could help you find the right ones to display your pieces. Thanks so much for the kind words about your visit here. If you need help with anything else, just let us know! -Capitol Hill Frame and Photo

Sam Rosenbaum: Such a great experience getting an original art piece framed here. I reached out to ~15 local vendors for pricing and got the best deal here for a very large piece. Stuart was super friendly and helpful, and the turnaround time was much quicker than I expected. So pleased with the end result!
Response: A beautiful piece of art needs a great frame to match it, Sam! We're excited we had just what you were looking for. It was a pleasure working with you. Anytime you need us, don't hesitate to get in touch. -Stuart

Ber.adette Pilliod: these guys are amazing. there is nothing they cannot do!!! the card selection is fantastic, always thoughtful or funny from sympathy to birthday. but the framing and photos have no peer. excellent suggestions on displaying favorite photos. also, many of my relatives are seniors to whom i send hard copy photos, this shop is very accommodating to everyone's needs. they helped me assemble a high school graduation collage also. i value their input, enjoy their rapport, and they will always be my first resource, hooray to them.
Response: Like we said on Yelp, Bonnie, no matter the project, you can count on our team to deliver exactly what you need! We're glad to know our photo printing services especially have been helpful when you need to send some pictures to your loved ones. Thanks so much for the support -- we'll be here for whatever else you need! -Capitol Hill Frame and Photo

Wendy W: This is by far and excellent place to get high quality photo prints. There’s also a large selection of reasonably priced cards and printing supplies.
Response: Wendy, thanks for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear you're happy with your prints. If there's ever anything else we can do for you in the future, we'll be here for you. -Capitol Hill Frame and Photo

bryan coxwell: I took a 50 year old newspaper here to get the front page framed. The paper was brittle and looked like it could have fallen apart under the slightest provocation, but they did an excellent job preserving it and the finished product looks great. Will definitely be going back next time I need something framed.
Response: Bryan, happy we could preserve and frame a snapshot from the past! We're so thrilled you're pleased with the outcome. Looking forward to helping you again in the future. -Capitol Hill Frame and Photo

Holly Robertson: Waited 8 years to get my graduate school diploma framed. Worth the wait!!
Response: The years of hard work you put in deserve the recognition, Holly! Glad we could help you select the perfect frame for your diploma. Don't hesitate to reach out if we can do anything else for you. -Capitol Hill Frame and Photo

Art and Framing Pro: what do users think?

Royston Gilgeous: I had a retirement shadow box (Police badges) done. When I met John, he took time to review my request and explained what he can and couldn’t do. He reached out to a company he knows for some detailed engraving. He stayed in touch with me during the entire process. The finished product was spectacular. I highly recommend this business. Custom framing, detailed work, and great customer service. Thanks John for a job well done.

Edward Grandi: The owners took time with us to explore frame and mat options. The finished product was beautiful and I am pleased display it.

Jeremy Albrecht: Wow. What an experience. I expected more but all the reviews were years old. I got a Groupon for this establishment, and was supposed to get a 150$ credit towards framing. The piece was small, only 11” x 24”, and the most basic black metal frame cost 150$. And if I wanted it matted? Another 150! Just to cut a mat! I left a negative review on Groupon based on the pricing, and the proprietor called back multiple times to tell us that he would not frame our work, and to come pick it up. My girlfriend was apprehensive to go, so I went in her place to pick up the artwork. He refunded our money and then proceeded to tell me that leaving a negative review is illegal. He said that we live in a “white supremacist country and you [I] am only able to leave a bad review because you [I] am white and rich.” Then he went on to say that I only gave a bad review because he was not white. I had never seen or talked to him before this point. While I attempted to explain the review was based on predatory pricing to get around the Groupon deal. There were several extravagantly framed pieces of art I. The store much larger than mine for less than the total of just our framing job. I complained about a 150$ mat!!!! I do not know where the racial topic came up from.

Angel Cortez: I can’t believe this place! I DO NOT RECOMMEND! I took a small piece of artwork there that somebody gave me along with the Groupon for the place to get it framed. I wanted the absolute most basic frame which was way more expensive than I thought it should’ve been. I told them I wanted to stay under the $150 amount and it seemed to irritate the guy. He wouldn’t give me any suggestions and only check prices. It’s like he didn’t even try to help me. After some price checks I settled on an ugly basic frame and cheap glass, totaling about $160. I wanted a matt, but that woulda put my total to about $360. So no go on that. I just wanted my picture protected better than it was which was a piece of plastic wrapped around and taped to it self. Picture size: 24 x 10 The coupon buyer left a review about the price and the next day this place calls and leaves a 2:24 second voice mail saying they’re not gonna work on my art and to come pick it up, along with many other unnecessary comments and opinions . Couple days later they left another extra long voicemail. When I send someone to go pick it up. They return it without a protective cover for some reason. If they weren’t gonna work on it. They could’ve at least put my piece back together before giving it back. Now it’s even less protected than it was before. If any water droplets would’ve gotten on and it would’ve been ruined. The guy was very rude. Wouldn’t just understand that I wanted something small and basic and was covered by the Groupon. Not to mention the person I sent to pick it up got Told off by the same guy.

Anne Knapke: I rarely want to spend the money to get things professionally framed, but sometimes the piece just calls for it. John's store is located near my office, so I went in to check it out one day and I'm so happy I did. Exceptional service, very high quality work and competitive pricing. He is also just a pleasure to work with. I was so pleased and so happy I could support a local small business. I would encourage anyone to do the same.

Matthew Radomski: Fantastic Service. Great Price. Done within hours. I had a tough request - I needed a frame and mat done for an All Star Game Ticket and 8x10 photo, and I needed it done in 24 hours. I went to 3 or 4 stores around Dupont/Downtown and only one other place said they could help me, it would be 20 hours minimum, and it would be $280. Art and Framing Pro did the frame and mat in 2 hours for $70. I rarely write reviews, or Yelp a place, but I needed to for this type of service and quality.

Jen Dickman: John at Art and Framing Pro did a great job on my framing order. He took the time to go through a lot of different options and turned around the order very quickly, while still maintaining the quality of the finished product. He had it done a full day before I needed it ready. It looks great. I will definitely return for any future framing needs!

Victor Brown: John has famed several pieces for me over the last two years; great job every time, competitive pricing, and excellent service. Thank you John. I'll be coming in this week with a new piece for you to frame.

Tony: Really great service, the owner is very friendly and accommodating.

Leah Shea: Highly recommend this place. Excellent quality work for competitive prices. He will walk you through the options and make sure you get exactly what you want. Will definitely be coming back!

International Art Gallery and Custom Framing: what do users think?

Dave: Truly exceptiponal work with better prices than the other framers in the area. Habib, the owner was extremely friendly, accomidating, and helpful. Loved working with him! He did a masterful job of guiding through the process. Could not have been better to work with. This is the framer you want to work with!
Response: Dave, thank you for the wonderful review.. It was a pleasure working with you. I wish you a Happy Holidays and the Best for the New Year

Austin F.: Best framing work in the DMV area. Habib went above and beyond to help me design custom framing. He was patient, provided numerous options and ideas, offered competitive pricing, and completed the items promptly. Exceptional service and the highest quality of craftsmanship. Thank you Habib and team!
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words, Austin. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us. We truly appreciate your business. Looking forward serving again in the future.

shelley davis: This is my second visit to have Habib make my paintings more exquisite with an amazing framing job. His quality of craftsmanship, attention to detail & making sure your art work fits the frame is by far the best I have experienced. See you next week for pick up. Thx.
Response: Shelley, it has been pleasure working with you. We value your patronage and appreciate your confidence in us.

Mir Niy: What an exceptional place to frame your artwork! I needed calligraphy art framed within two hours. Despite short notice, Habib and Lauren took their time to advise me what color and type of mat/frame to use and the frame turned into a fine artwork. Many thanks for professionalism. Highly recommended!
Response: We were happy to help! So glad you were pleased with our work. Thank you for your review.

Joshua Young: Habib is incredible and maybe best prices in DC for quality work. He framed 2 large pieces of original art for me in addition to a number of smaller prints. Habib went above and beyond to fix a small problem that occurred with one of the pieces and we are fully satisfied in the end. Highly recommended.
Response: Joshua, thank you for kind words. It was a pleasure serving you. We are delighted that you are happy with our quality of work and service.

Etu Dieng: I am an interior designer and decorator and I have been using Habib's services since 2007. Very neat gallery, great art selection, very kind employees with professional attitude, unique original art collection all in the hand of an expert with a great eye and unbeatable price range. I highly recommend this place
Response: Etu, thank you for the kind words. It's always a pleasure doing business with you. Be safe

Jeremy Haile: This is the best place for framing in Washington, DC. They provide all kinds of services for hanging art, photography, or other materials, and they have a great selection of works to choose from. Projects are completed promptly, and are consistently of the highest quality. And the price is always fair. Best of all, Habib and his staff are wonderful to work with. For art and custom framing, there's no better place in town.

Michael Werner: Habib did a fantastic job helping me design and frame a set of pictures from our vacation. It looks beautiful in our home. He really provides personalized and top-notch service
Response: Hello Michael, thank you for the kind words. We are glad that you are happy with our services.

Joe Donnelly: IAG deserves five stars. A) Open for a few hours on Saturday (major plus), B) very professional, C) reasonable pricing, D) excellent quality in finished pieces, E) outstanding timing. I expected to feel like I was paying too much for framing and to not enjoy the experience. To the contrary, Habib is very welcoming, made me feel great about my art - equally the expensive item and the $40 casual print that I might ditch in a year. For the expensive piece, he listened to my framing idea and politely recommended an alternative (black frame vs. chrome) which was actually a much better fit given the colors in the art. Then, he met his great prices with amazing timing to help me get these hung before a small party. I HIGHLY recommend Habib and Int'l Art Gallery (I chose him based on reviews so I hope this continues to spread the good word) and I will return to him for any future framing needs. Thanks!

Billy McMorris: Couldn't have been better. Quick, excellent service and amazing staff. I walked in with my own ideas of what my frame would look like; the staff had much better (and more tasteful) ideas. They obviously could have taken advantage of my ignorance and steered me to the most expensive frame in the store and instead did it at a lower cost than my initial budget.

Georgetown Frame Shoppe: what do users think?

Sean Ringeling: I would definitely recommend Georgetown Frame Shoppe! In my search for a particular print I got in contact with Peter from the gallery. He was friendly and really helpful. Peter and his team found the print I was looking for and framed it for me. They took good care of my art piece and responded very quickly whenever I had any questions.

William Chang: I have purchased multiple prints from the georgetown frame shoppe. Peter, Jon, Kristina, Andrew, and the rest of the crew are stellar at what they do.

Tom Reynolds: I’ve had several interactions with Peter and his team over the years – both buying and selling/consigning. They are always extremely responsive, professional, and fair. They take exceptional care in packaging and shipping the artwork. What more could you ask for? Their collection of animation art is impressive and continues to grow. I would highly recommend them and hope to someday visit the gallery.

Charlie chancey: Andrew of the frame shop cant even make a decision on how to take care of a simple shipping problem i would not trust this shop

Daniel Vander Ley: Fast FedEx delivery. Pristine lithographs, framing and smudge free glass. They clearly treat their work with care and detail. Thank you Jon and GFS team!

warhol200: I have dealt with Peter at Georgetown frame for years. He is honest and knowledgeable. He is always considerate and will advise you correctly. Great place to pick up quality investment art, especially Andy Warhol screenprints. His prices are very fair.

Alec Sprouffske: Art installer failed to follow directions from designer/ elevations given. Some of the art was installed in the wrong location and the only way I was told Georgetown would fix it was to charge another install fee. I tried working out a deal through email and the fellow I was emailing with stopped responding all together. The other pieces that were part of this job were installed in the proper location per the elevation given. Thank you.
Response: Just seeing this review now. I read through the string of emails and discussed with the installer who is still working here. Tahmina showed Andrew where everything was to be installed and signed off on it. Unfortunately it was a 2 hour drive back to Manassas, VA and we could not agree to the extra charge to return to the site. If we make a mistake we own up to . We will always return at no extra charge. That is why we have been in business since 1989.

Dan Trachtman: I needed some magazine covers framed. They were easy to work with, fair in pricing, and good at keeping in touch to let me know when things would be ready. Very smooth process, very professional operation.

Nolan Orgel: I used to take prints, lithos and other framable artwork here on a regular basis back in the 80s and 90s. Always returned home with great new piece for the wall.

David Green: Great art and print gallery. Great framing.

Art & Framing LLC: what do users think?

Greg Schneider: Great experience and advice with rebuilding frame and stretchers and remounting canvas for large, 95”x75”, painting. From beginning to hanging, superb craftsmanship and work!

Eddies: He does good work. I brought in a special letter for custom framing. He showed me some options and quoted me a price. I admit I initially felt the price was steep given the size of the very small letter (less than letter size), but I went with it. He did an excellent job, and he brushed out some small ink smudges that appeared on the letter. Probably could have done slightly better on price at a place like Michael's but would not have received the same quality and level of service. You get what you pay for.

Donya Mann: I love this shop. I’ve been using Mo for a few years now for some original works and some prints. After so many conversations he knew my love for classic American pin up girl art. When he stumbled across some original Vargas Girl prints, he called me to let me know. I was so impressed by the thoughtfulness to ask me if I was interested. I was! And I asked him to frame them as well. He gave me a great deal and I am so thrilled with the result.

David M: Mr. Mo is a true artist and designer. If you leave him a project he is able to make the best out of it. He is an honest man with dignity and professionalism. His core values are amazing, a good man with good work ethics. Great designer with amazing ideas. I highly recommend Art and Framing Pro and Mr. Mo as an excellent place with amazing outstanding customer service and hospitality.

Sebastian Orillac: Expedient and kind to a first time artwork owner. Helped me choose a frame and explained his steps in the process. Very helpful

Elizabeth Antiskay: I recently bought a large 36' x 72' painting from Italy that needed to be stretched and framed. After calling around the local Dupont/Admo area, I found that this store not only did the work in 1 week- versus 2 or 3, they were HALF the quoted price of others, and they were always polite and courteous from the initial phone call to the final pick-up. The owner Mo is a very nice neighbor to have in Dupont and I will certainly be bringing my other two paintings to him.

Phillip T.: Frank owner that can sometimes be a bit rough around the edges, but is comical and means well. In any case, he *perfectly*—not an exaggeration— framed two large posters/art pieces I had. Will definitely come back for custom framing.

Filip Vojvodic Medic: The owner is pretentious and dismissive. He treats customers like they do not know anything about aesthetics nor framing. He seemingly gets upset if you decline his first solution and then creates a tense atmosphere in which it is very difficult to explore alternatives. He might be praying on people's insecurities - his choices are decent, but not amazing - and he is definitely someone you do not want to end up giving your money to. I am shocked that this guy was ever recommended to me as someone I must see. If you are a masochist or would like to see what kind of customer service you could have run into before the advent of social media, then the experience is worth it and you should definitely engage.

Ida Yousofi: Great quality for a great price! The owner Mo has a huge selection and gets the frames ready very quickly! I definintly recommend, especially for nicer photos, such as graduations, weddings, and/or family portraits.

Olivia Boyce: Mo is great at what he does. He has an eye for helping you to select the perfect frame and matte and completes his work with care and speed. He's also a kind and friendly neighbor to those in Dupont!

The Frame Shop: what do users think?

Armen Can: Im from Florida and I visited my aunt in DC and we discovered the The Frame Shop what a great discovery. My aunt is a local artist in DC and she always needs custom framing. Great service /Great quality. They are very professional and experienced they helped us choose the perfect matting and framing for her watercolor paintings. Joe also recommended museum glass WOW what a difference the glass made it’s incredible. I highly recommend this place.

Fred Hakim: I’m an artist and I’m always looking for a good frame shop. Found this one by chance walking by. What a great find! The owner is very knowledgeable and helped me pick matting and a great frame. Made my art pop. Great frame shop. Very reasonable prices and quick turn around. I found my frame shop. Highly recommend this frame shop!

Abdullah Yassawy: I'm so happy to finally have a frame shop around the corner from my work. I met with Joe today and he really helped me out to design a layout for a going away signing for my boss. It was a great experience I had with The Frame shop and glad they opened close by! I've used another shop in the past but they closed down. So i am happy to have found another place I felt comfortable with and great quality of work! Can't wait to go back and pick up the art!

Qais Sattar: Stopped in here yesterday since the other framing store near me was closed for memorial weekend. I was helped by a gentlemen named Joe; real upbeat guy. I came in to get an estimate on framing our wedding photo and invitation as sort of a collage. I tried Michael’s before coming here and it was nearly impossible to find someone in their framing department who could help. Anyhow, Joe shared some ideas while ensuring they aligned with my desired outcome. We picked the perfect matte/frame and it was all priced pretty well. I wasn’t expecting Michael’s pricing when I walked in, since this was a professional shop and they had some beautiful pieces on display. Giving a 5 star rating based on my experience and hope the final product is equally as good!

Elena Dieci: I could not recommend The Frame Shop highly enough! I was helped by a nice man named Kal who was incredibly patient in allowing me to look over all possible mattes and frames and who outlined various options at all price-points. He encouraged collaboration and routinely checked in to make sure I felt satisfied. I could tell that the customer was his priority. I went in intending to frame only two or three pieces, but ended up framing FOUR. I was in the shop for an hour and never felt rushed -- the process was incredibly thorough. I had previously framed another piece with them and the work is BEAUTIFUL. I felt obligated to write a review this time around! Photo attached is the previous framing job. They floated a scarf beautifully, and tastefully helped me to select the blue and gold surrounding it. THANK YOU, The Frame Shop!

Marisa Kronenberg: The personal service you can only get from a small local business with reasonable pricing and most importantly, very high quality framing. They were very accommodating and went above and beyond for my Father's Day gift. This is an awesome local business you can feel good about supporting!

Emily LeBlanc: First time customer, great experience. Calvin recommended a great frame for a painting that I brought in. Thanks!

Picasso Gallery Custom Framing: what do users think?

Grace Tapia: This place has the best quality in framing!! There are infinity types of frames to choose from. Rojyar is very professional and has a great taste in art. Highly recommend.

Madeleine M. & Steve S.: Phenomenal work. We brought in our wedding ketubah, which I had put off getting framed because I wanted to make sure I found the very best place to bring it. Abdi is incredible; he made excellent suggestions and walked us through a variety of different framing looks. When we were ready to make our decision, he wrote up estimates for all of our options so we could clearly see what we were getting. The final result was gorgeous and brings us so much joy every time we look at it. We also brought him a second piece, which looks fabulous as well. And, in the time of Covid, everyone was masked and seen by appointment only. Highly, highly recommend for any regular or precious framing needs!

Molly Campbell: I have tried other places in D.C. and I am never as happy with the final product than when I go to Picasso. They take their time troubleshooting the best mat, frame, and price. They always look at pictures of the space to help me get the perfect match. I have never been disappointed; I consider them “my framer”!

Athan Manuel: Our go-to frame shop. We’ve had more than a dozen items framed there and each item has been perfect.

The Framing Shop: what do users think?

Bahar Yurukoglu: I don't have time to spend explaining everything that is wrong with this place, they wasted so much of my time already. I will say that as a professional artist who has worked with many framers in my career I strongly suggest you DO NOT BRING ANYTHING TO THIS PLACE FOR FRAMING. I would not trust them with a xerox copy. I hope they go out of business they don't deserve to be in business. That corner shop could be used for something more useful. Just absolutely AWFUL, chipped frames, chipped and dirty glass, dirty and sticky(!!!)mat board, scratched my prints and hand cut them then BLAMED me for not bringing them precut. Excuse me sir shouldn't the framer be able to cut a straight line without damaging the object? And if you are not able to handle the job let the client know? Isn't that 50% of the job? Cutting a straight line without damaging it and having the proper tools to do it? Garbage materials for a price tag of $100 each for a simple 8x10 framing job. And I write this as someone who supports small businesses! But only if they do a good job and deserve the business. Tenleytown has plenty of other indie framers that are FAR better than this place at the same price or less. Save yourself the hassle and time and DO NOT GO HERE. The only good and simple part of my visit was the refund because the guy either knows how bad he did or he just doesn't care and it shows in the work. Just don't bother going here

sticky balls: We got custom frames done for our whole office building and the service was amazing, the lady who helped us out was super nice , the prices were the best we found in the whole DC, the quality of their frames are also really good. Really recommend this place.

Ibrahim Oweis: I've been to several frame shops in the area, and while some are less pricey, none have been as great to work with than this place. I had 5 pieces together valued well over a $100,000 framed on a rush order for a hotel, and despite my demands and near-panic, the staff remained professional and helpful. I'm not an easily pleased person, and I believe you get what you pay for: I paid for a job to get done quickly, elegantly, and exactingly, and that's what I got at the The Framing Studio. A special thanks to the owner Jan who personally got involved.

Jereme Macready: Bait and switch... I reached out to this place way before I knew a Living Social deal was out there. They wrote me back and quoted me "about $400.00" to frame a poster sized print that I have. I then saw the deal on Living Social and purchased it. It was for $200 worth of Framing Services for $49.00. So, I'm thinking that I can get my print framed for about $249.00 (My $49 which was worth $200 plus $200 out of pocket would equal $249.00). I go to their store in person and they verbally quoted me $580.00 to frame my print. So, I ask how that could be when they told me over e-mail that it was "about $400.00". They say that it must be their 40% discount! So, they re-calculate my total with the new 40% discount and it works out to be about $400.00 bucks. It was then that I revealed that I had a deal through Living Social...which the salesperson informed me that it's only good on the cost of the FULL price and cannot be used with the quoted amount of "about $400.00." So, I was disappointed to say the least. I debated my options for a few then left the store. I plan on getting a refund through Living Social because I'm really not happy with how they conveniently changed the costs right before my eyes. I will find somewhere else to spend my money. Try to avoid if possible.

Mark: I had three water color paintings framed here. The first two jobs were well handled by patient and friendly staff but took quite a considerable amount of time (almost two months) to complete. The third water color was framed with coffee stains all over the matte AND MY PAINTING. I couldn't believe it when I went to pick it up. I'm still incredibly upset. The manager gave me 50% off the balance due. "Accidents happen," he said with a shrug. What a joke. I should have sued as it was a $2000 piece of art. YMMV. . . but I will never go back.

Susan Holloway: I recently had 8 pieces of original art framed using museum glass for an upcoming exhibit. Jose A. was extremely helpful and professional, listening to how I wanted the art framed, and ensuring that the job was finished on time. I am extremely pleased with the service and product delivered.

Faizan Ba1g: Got my sons diploma done from them and they did an absolute amazing job, the staff was super friendly and gave me the best price in the dmv area.

Kris Juncker: Having collected quotes for projects from several framing shops in the area. This one always has the best prices and excellent service.

Terminate_XZ: The price was really good. Got all the paintings for my office done from them.

Andrea Rabi: They did horrible job with the 3 paintings I left to be stretched. All were wrinkled, and one demaged in the corner. I didn’t even want them to redo the work scared they would damage my art pieces even more.

Picasso Gallery Custom Framing: what do users think?

Cynthia Cramblett: I am very impressed with the frame selection and guidance of the expert advice of the staff at Picasso Gallery. As a first time custom frame client, I was thrilled with the work and can’t wait to hire them for future framing needs.

Annick Benavides: Absolutely fabulous customer service and quality framing. Locally owned and operated. I came into the store with a particularly challenging project and they worked miracles to save my art work! Plus, the price came in under the original estimate! Cannot recommend enough.

Cate Sadler Anderson: Picasso framing and Rojyar did a great job with the pieces I wanted framed. They turned out great. The frames had metal plaques incorporated in them, and Rojyar was able to accomplish it exactly as requested. Rojyar also was really good about communicating the status of my project over text, which was helpful and appreciated. Picasso is not inexpensive, but if you want it done right and you want framing that is extra special, you have to go to Picasso! I will be using them again.

Shane Yodlowski: I had a wonderful experience. The owner helped me choose a frame for my large painting; I was initially interested in thick, expensive frames, but he recommended thinner, cheaper designs as to not distract from the piece. He was right. When framing was complete I was out of town (for two months) due to COVID-19 and Picasso happily stored my painting until my return. When I finally picked it up, it wouldn't fit in my car. The owner loaded the painting into his car and followed me to my house. Excellent service and craftsmanship.

Kate Searby: I LOVE Picasso Gallery Custom Framing and would never use any other store. Working with them has provided -- by far -- the best experience I've ever had framing any of my artwork. The quality of Picasso's work is exceptional, their prices are completely reasonable, turnaround is fast, and the service is outstanding. The owner is the world's nicest guy and a pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend Picasso more highly!

karen proctor: Had a wonderful experience at Picasso Gallery from the time I called for a appointment to receive my frame. The customer service was amazing and the quality of work was even better. I was assisted with selecting a frame for my painting and having it delivered personally because of COVID. I would definitely recommend their business and use them again.

Huy Nguyen: I am very pleased with my experience at Picasso Gallery Custom Framing. I got two pieces framed at Picasso Gallery Custom Framing for a fair price and they came out amazing! The man who worked with me was straightforward and was also receptive to my requests. He even managed to get a blot out of the matting of one of my pieces and fixed the bottom of a frame of my picture that fell. Very grateful for the service he provided and I will definitely be coming back to get my other pieces framed!

David Hamilton: Top Quality Frames/Glass and Best Customer Service Ever. Sure, they cost a few bucks more, but you get so much more. This is the place for getting your treasures framed! The proprietor is a real expert and based upon the final results, pretty clear it is confirmed. Don't shop around, go here.

Sarah Pauley: Picasso Gallery Custom Framing is an excellent framer. The owner has helped me with sentimental paintings and handled everything with care. He has always been very honest about whether an item is fixable. I highly recommend Picasso Gallery Custom Framing for all your framing needs!

Kevin Nawrocki: The best in the business As everyone knows there are no shortage of framing options in Washington DC. We had worked with several different framers in the area and Rojyar at Picasso Gallery is the best! Great options, the best service and able to provide insight into any framing job. It has come to the point that we will never go anywhere else to get something framed. We know the work done at Picasso Gallery will be the best there is.

National Portrait Gallery: what do users think?

E Blount: The National Portrait Gallery was a really nice experience. There are themed galleries as well as the presidential gallery. If I remember correctly there are 3 floors to explore. There are elevators for those that can't or don't want to walk. It is completely FREE and no ticket required. If you bring a bag it must be worn on the front of your body so that you don't accidentally damage an exhibit.

ReCreate Artworks: This is the best art gallery in DC in my opinion. It’s beautiful, unique and calming. There’s an atrium in the center that provides a dreamy place to sit and rest. My favorite thing about this gallery, however, is that there’s conservationists you can watch at work. When you walk into this museum it’s like being in a different world. Each space creates such a unique atmosphere and is breathtaking to say the least.

Klau Pao: The Gallery is amazing, you will probably spend 2 hours there. It has very beautiful portraits, one of my favorites was Gilbert Stuart painting of George Washington and everything related to Abraham Lincoln as well as the amazing portrait of the Supreme Court Justices! Wow what a place to put on my memory box! I loved it!

M J: I really enjoyed the National Portrait Gallery which shares buildings with the American Art Museum (they each have a side on both buildings). The Hall of Presidents was excellent. I really enjoyed seeing the 2022 Potrait Contest and enjoyed voting for my favorite Portrait. There is a 50 year Anniversary exhibit for the Watergate Scandal and we almost visited on the actual anniversary so that was cool. There are a lot of different portraits of Americans on display and they are pretty randomly spread out between the rooms. All in all, expect to spend 1 1/2-2 hours at this part of the museum. I will say, some teens and kids who are not the most intellectually driven may find it boring as there are not interactive exhibits.

Ray: I didn't know there is this museum until we walked by on the way to Chinatown for lunch. We visited it after lunch. It's great to see some of the arts that I have seen in books or videos in person. Kids enjoyed it as well as we got into some good discussions on some sculpture pieces.

Ukvayat Hanak: The National Portrait Gallery gets 4/5 for all the exhibit areas that are closed right now. Many renovations going on! So many varied exhibits though. A great place to host a catered event. Check em out!

Kathy W: Museum is really big and has so much to see. We spent a good amount of time at kogot courtyard which happens to have orchids displays. Beautiful and fun place for people of all ages. Parking was somewhat challenging but really worth the trip.

Salsabil Yeasmin: Such a beautiful museum. They have free entrance but I would suggest to make a donation even if it's just a dollar or some change. They have worked hard to keep the museum safe, clean and organized. The artwork represents what America is about and our diversity. I simply loved the experience in there.

beyondTabu: This museum is really nice… but this review isn’t about the museum directly. It’s about the staff/security. We’ve been to several other museums and they all seem to have the same attitude. They yell/scream at you from across the room, to not do something or that you’re breaking their rules (that aren’t clearly posted anywhere). It’s very disrespectful and unprofessional. This mentality seems to be widespread in all the museums recently. It’s like they’ve had no customer service training at all. They have a little power and wield it unabated. It upsets our day really makes us not want to visit the attractions.

Joshua Russell: This is one of our favorite museums in DC by far. You get a wide array of art here on three floors. This is located right in Chinatown across the street from Capital One Arena with two entrances. One thing to note if you are being a bag it has to be worn in front of you at all times. We recently came here and I would say my favorite areas were the special exhibition of the dual artists and their stories. They show one piece of art from the artist and tells the story of their connection. They have a Jackson Pollock called Heading West which was really neat to his art before the drip style. Another favorite was the Hung Liu portraits, the way she did them is nothing I’ve seen before and really showed great expression. I also enjoyed the social Justice exhibition as it covered a wide variety of areas and include very moving stories. I highly recommend coming here and spending a couple hours browsing.

Touchstone Gallery: what do users think?

Julia Moss: What a great surprise. A members based gallery also featuring other local artists. I was greatly impressed with the wide range of themes, mediums and styles of this eclectic group of artists. I had a pleasure speaking with the staff and look forward to returning for their 2nd Friday monthly gallery openings. Stop in for a look and spark up a conversation to learn more about this great D.C artists hub.
Response: Thank you!

Nargess Karimian: It was my first private art show experience. Really enjoyed myself. The gallery lights the artwork quite nicely.

Karen: An interesting art gallery that's also a nice place for receptions or corporate events. They normally have a reception the first Friday of every month to introduce that month's artists, as well as a member exhibition. I've had some nice conversations with the exhibiting artists.

F E Downey: Shows are always well curated. Gallery is well administered. As a Co-op, artists pay annually to exhibit here. So milenium or other young artists rarely exhibit here. Great Downton DC location - on south border of Shaw District. City Center two blocks away and great restaurants on every block. Used to have monthly first Friday openings, so always a diverse, large and interesting downtown crowd. Recently changed to Saturday afternoon openings (1:00 PM to 3:00 PM), so no downtown crowd, mostly elderly suburban crowd. Need to rethink time of openings to attract younger art buyers. Check out shows; a few really good artists exhibit here at very reasonable prices. The rest of the exhibited artists produce average works, probably because most have or had full-time jobs in another professions (i.e., part-time artists).

Peter Putterman: Love places to exhibit and promote the arts.

J. Anderson: There is an eclectic selection of artworks from local artists. It was nice to browse the variety in the gallery.

Michael Lai: I had an awesome time here. Depends on the event, there could be a wine tasting going on. Small venue, but resonating work pieces. Artists are occasionally on site to talk about their works and you can negotiate prices on buying.
Response: Thank you, please stop by again! Touchstone Gallery management.

Ksenia Grishkova Orol: Modern contemporary art gallery space with 45 local artists on display. Ground level. The gallery itself was established in 1976 and has been at 901 New York Ave since 2010. Monthly rotating exhibitions with first Friday's opening receptions that are free and open to public. Space is also available for special event rentals.

David Ford Jr.: I like to go to Touchstone for their first friday shows, the first Friday evening of every month. The art is refreshingly interesting and the staff at Touchstone are nonpareil

National Gallery of Art: what do users think?

Terry Bexton: AWESOME art. Absolutely unbelievable to witness these masterpieces in real life. I was astonished by the gift shop as well. Most people that know me know that I LOVE gift shops, and this one was definitely one of my new favorites. It had all the different art related things a person could think of. Absolutely would recommend this gallery to any art lover.

Kathryn Corselius: The National Gallery of Art is a great stop for any history or art lover. Boasting many different paintings from the biggest artists, the gallery is expansive and well-curated. I spent a couple of hours here and could easily have spent more time here. I would recommend planning ahead to locate the galleries that are a must-see for you, as after a couple of hours, it's easy to get fatigued by how many pieces there are. For history lovers, check out the presidential portraits by Gilbert Stuart and the famous painting of Marie Antoinette. I also recommend touring the galleries on the lower floor, where there are beautiful Degas and Rodin sculptures and early Colonial furniture.

Nay Wareenipha: Absolutely must visit if you love art and it's FREE! I saw a Davinci painting for the first time here with nobody around. It's very peaceful. There's also a FREE baggage deposit area so don't worry about your coats and bags. You can get a free map that will allow you to go through each section based on the era of the paintings. You can easily spend a whole day here. So many things to see. Additionally there's also an amazing free audio guide under some paintings that you can listen to which is fantastic. There's also another floor under dedicated to sculptures which is also very interesting. There's free WiFi in the premises. Also souvenir shops and food place. Plus, it's also next to the Smithsonian museum so you can see both in one day.

R Lin: I’ve been to the Gallery of Art a few times now, and it really just never gets old. It would also take at least one entire day to truly get through everything that’s there (the museum is HUGE, and has more than one building), so when I say it never gets old it’s the honest truth. There’s something new pretty much every time because there’s a back corner or section you accidentally missed the previous time. This place is beyond easy to get lost in. It’s definitely an iconic Smithsonian, and worth seeing. But again- this place is massive! Schedule a big chunk of your day if you want to see a lot of it, or else prioritize the works you want to see and grab a building map to help you stay on track (there’s a good chance you’ll still get a little lost). You get to see some true, original and iconic pieces here. I think it’s also fun seeing where the Gallery got the pieces from. If you’re at all a souvenir person you’d better also visit the gift shop (again, view the building map and follow signs because it can be tough to find). Love this maze of a museum!

Andrew Hovenden: So much to see. Take your time but don't dawdle or you will tire before you see it all! I posted my favorites and lesser known pieces I liked; and ones I want to know more about. Be sure to look at the frames and the floors. Some of the frames are amazing and the floors are beautiful wood. Decent place for kids under 12 but the might need help understanding why these are great works. Good Cafe with a nice Kale and chicken salad.

F SDK: I've driven 4 hours to be in Washington DC from PA, and this is one of the place we've stopped over. We didnt need entry fee, and the amazing arts took a couple of hours from our day trip. The place is huge, hard to walk all the way and see everything. We've tried to cover as much we could within a short time.

Noah Lepek: The National Gallery of Art should be on everyone's itinerary when planning a visit to Washington D.C. This internationally recognized museum holds works of art from every part of the world, allowing people to develop a better understanding of the world. When visiting the capital of the United States, this place certainly comes highly recommended.

Shravya Boppana: FANTASTIC! This is a great place to visit for all ranges of art lovers! It has such a wide range of art that is a ranged in an easy to digest walk through. The interactive guide through the app can help with understanding the history behind the artist and art, which is great for people who are just beginning in the art scene as well. It is a must visit!

Evan S: A free museum with so many fabulous paintings! The Van Gogh selection was amazing.. if you have time check it out! It was so easy to get in and out.

Kevin Shim: No entry fee. Wear a mask. This museum has a good collection of art. From early Rennaisance to modern. Da Vinci, Raphael, Vermeer, Degas, Monet, Degas, Rothko are the highlights of this museum. It’s laid out in a way to showcase how our perception of art has evolved over the years. The East building holds all the modern art. The underground concourse that connects the West and East building is worth checking out.

Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum: what do users think?

Lin Romano: Loved loved loved it! Wonderful exhibit on Burning Man when we visited, along with other great exhibits that took a bit less space. The gallery is such an intimate yet roomy space that any exhibit could be staged well there. As part of the Smithsonian it's also free, which is nice, too.

Kersten Chisti Dryden: We went to see the Burning Man exhibit. Beautiful gallery, with lots of different rooms. We easily spent 3 hours in here, there was so much to take in, on all sensory levels. Lots of interactive art, including a VR experience, and a carved wooden chapel with little pieces of wood that you can write to loved ones who have passed, and add to the exhibit. Very well produced, all together.

Pakeezha: This is one of my favorite museums. It’s easy to get there and pretty small and they change their exhibitions in every few months which makes you want to go and visit more often. It’s always fascinating seeing the new designs. it can get crowded at peak times but they control the amount of people that can enter which is very nice.

Lauren Brown: I visited the Burning Man exhibit and was blown away by the quality and scale of the work. The art became more powerful when given context and story with the effective displays. It was well placed in the space. It's a smaller museum, but well worth the visit. The gift shop was well curated.

Miss Guided: I visited the burning man experience. My niece and I wanted to be the simulator experience. The nasty worker said was very rude and nasty. Other than that the exhibit was amazing. I cannot take people’s action in account for how wonderful the museum is. Definitely a must see!!! It wasn’t too crowded on the Monday we went which was Labor Day. It was difficult to get some good picture of the mushrooms because of the crowds but still enjoyable. The exhibit is very tranquil and nice.

Sam Eldredge: This museum is perfect for those with a bit of extra time to spend in their day and nothing to fill it with. It's not overwhelmingly large making it easy to see all of the various pieces and exhibits. Also the floor format is circular allowing for easy circulation and no dead ends. There are staff around each corner for questions and beat of all, it's free!

Ashton Menefee: Really cool museum to hit when in DC, awesome rotating exhibits. We saw the Burning Man, Dustin Farnsworth, and Crime Scene Diorama exhibits on a few visits. It’s an easy walk from anywhere in DC, close to the White House, and worth a stop if you want to see something different.

K A: I visited the Renwick Gallery with my family last fall and i was impressed with all the beautiful and extraordinary exhibits. The David’s best temple caught my gaze with its glow and I also love the disrupting Craft. A great museum rich in history and packed with lots of exceptional crafts. It’s a must see if you are visiting DC. I highly recommend to all tourists, locals, craft and art lovers.

H J: The burning man exhibition was on when we attended and it was a really good one. The space within the museum was used really well and the exhibits combined interactive, traditional and contemporary style pieces that appealed to the whole family. Definitely worth a visit once you are done with the White House! Recommended

Allison Lau: One of my favorite places to visit in DC because of it's in-depth content and "larger than life" installations. The gallery is small enough where you can digest everything thoroughly without getting overwhelmed. Detailed descriptions accompany the art pieces. Each room encompasses a different installation. The Burning Man exhibit has been eye-opening, and includes a comprehensive history and future expectations of this whole movement.
