Middle C Music: what do users think?

James Hurwitz: Without reservation, Middle C Music deserves the highest possible recommendation. They did a superb job of cleaning up and giving an overall tune-up to my antique guitar and repairing my antique mandolin. In the process, I saw how the staff at Middle C —Nick, Tom, Dave and Hillary — interacted not just with me but customers and students of all ages and abilities. What I appreciated most was their low key manner and the pleasure they took in enhancing the joy that others got from their instruments, music, and lessons. This is truly an excellent music store.
Response: Thanks so much for all your kind words, Jim! Always a pleasure working with you, and of course, you're welcome back anytime-- in fact, if you drop by on the 19th, we'll be having a 20th anniversary celebration with cake, prizes, and live performances. We're honored to be your local music store, and hope to continue serving you and maintaining your lovely instruments for years to come. -Tom F.

Gillian Edick: We popped into Middle C to have a guitar restrung and tuned. They did it quickly, but more importantly made it great fun for my aspiring but beginner guitarist. Tom was amazing - so helpful and took the time to show my son how to tune the guitar, hold it and get started. Really fantastic service. Thanks Tom and team!
Response: Thanks so much, Gillian. Helping musicians have fun getting started is one of my favorite things about working in our community. Come back anytime to show off his progress! -T

Paul Myers: I purchased a piano from these fine people, and I love it. It was very competitively priced. I have also purchased a guitar, and I have had these folks restring several guitars, and they do a great job —and again, the price is right. I love supporting small businesses, and Middle C Music is one of the best!
Response: Thanks so much! Very kind words. Glad you're enjoying the piano.

Phyllis Pierce: I had a small (thankfully) issue with the guitar I'm teaching myself to play. So I took it to Middle C in hopes they could fix it and it wouldn't be away from me too long. They fixed my issue on the spot and for free!! They are very friendly and that guy really knew his guitars. I think they have a long term customer here!!
Response: Thanks for stopping by Phyllis! We're looking forward to seeing you back at Middle C soon. If you have time this Saturday, why not drop by for our 20th Anniversary celebration? We'll have cake, prizes, and live performances happening all day long!

Christopher Tripoli: I fell in love with an instrument I found here called a "U-Bass," but I'm left-handed so couldn't use the one on display. Had them order a lefty model for me, and couldn't be happier with their service! Tom F was excellent to work with. A fun neighborhood store that I eagerly recommend!
Response: Thanks for the review, Chris! I'm really happy we were able to deliver. Come back and show off your U-Bass skills anytime! -TF

Fernando Nogueira: Super friendly and helpful staff. We were missing a very specific guitar screw and they helped us out in no time.

Ricky Webster: Amazingly friendly and helpful staff! Middle C is a great place to pick up your general music needs, but maybe isn't the best specifically for guitar equipment. They still have the basics for guitar, and will order anything you need! I have also used their guitar repair/tune-up service and everything was great. Thanks!
Response: Thank you, Ricky! We can't wait to have you back in the store.

Susanna Gregory: I LOVED it here! Stopped by for a new guitar and the staff was immediately willing to help and super friendly. The prices were great and I was really impressed with all the cool little things you could buy too! I didn’t get the names of the people who helped me but they were fantastic
Response: Thank you, Susanna! I'm glad we were able to help you find the right guitar, and we really appreciate your support. See you again! - Nick (and Tom and Dave) :)

Rebecca Brenner: I hadn't sought out new strings for my guitar since 2017. so every ~4yr when I get restrung, I only trust one music shop to touch my green guitar: Middle C Music. they do a fabulous job! I wouldn't recommend waiting 4yr for new strings -- or 10+yr for a new case -- but I highly recommend Middle C Music for all services!
Response: Thanks so much Rebecca! We'll see you in another four years!!

Michelle Long: I had the best time at Middle C Music! Everyone was super knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. I came in looking for a 3/4 size acoustic guitar for traveling and had my pick of a beautiful selection. Big fan!! Will return!
Response: Wooo! Thanks Michelle, hope you enjoy the new guitar!

Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center: what do users think?

Melissa Ratisher: I had tried many different retailers looking for an XDJ RX3, but nobody had them in stock, and people were selling them on EBay for $1k over the retail price. I saw one at Chuck Levin's that was 'open box' so called the store about it, then spoke to Randy who told me they had a brand-new one, unopened, in the store, at the standard retail price. I ordered it immediately (free shipping!), got it in 2 days, still sealed in the box, perfect condition, and it's fantastic! Highly recommend ordering gear from Chuck Levin's. Thank you Randy!

Carlton Jones: Chuck Levins Washington Music Center, has been the most anticipated retail store visit since I was 13 years old. Every local musician I know in DC has spent time and money at Chuck’s. I recently made a purchase and it went as all my transactions made there since approx 1970. This time it was online but a very personal affair, Adam Levin was helpful and more accommodating that an old guy could ask for. It was still like xmas awaiting my package that came overnight and with a wonderful gift. I can honestly say it was the most emotional purchase I’ve made in decades, not the most expensive, not a life changing acquisition just a memory evoking moment that included family members and friends passed on that I think of frequently whom I spent many hours playing music with and having the best times of my life. Me, my family, friends and Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center…. Thanks again Adam, if this is my last purchase please know they have all been the best!

Deahvo Cho: They always been there when I needed them , fot parts drums Symbols suggestions ideas he is never stops it's a great cruiser (party on).

Crystallize And Realize: This place goes above and beyond I'm all categories. Total knowledge, stock, and personal care. You will find your salesman, and he will be yours for decades. Paul in drums is incredible. Also Edwin in Keys, and Mitch up front. Top notch. I feel good arriving, better leaving. Best store in the world. I suggest cutting your credit cards before entering---can be dangerous.

Richard Capeless: My experience was through an online order and I am here to testify to their exceptional customer service. I had a small problem with a piece of gear I was really excited to get, and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate me. General manager Adam Levin reach out to me and oversaw my exchange. That kind of personal touch made it clear that they care about their customers.

Rachel Ellis: Bought my fiancé a guitar here a year ago. Sales person was friendly and helpful. Good covid protocol for the time. Sales people weren’t pushy and were well informed on guitars. Bought the Taylor GS Mini and it’s been a great guitar. Would definitely check them out if you’re in the market for an instrument. Only downside was slightly outdated equipment/billing systems, but nothing a little patience doesn’t fix.

brian henson: Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center has always been the best music store in this region. Guitar players, including the top players in the world, come here for equipment, repairs, and advice. Best selection and fair prices, but most of all, the most knowledgeable sales people. They know the products, ask you the right questions, and help you find the best solutions for you.
Response: Thanks for the nice review, Brian. The customer ALWAYS comes first at Chuck's!

Eddie Monson: Excellent customer service, very courteous and professional... Bought a new guitar at a good price and shipped fast..

D0nut7125: Got my trick Dominators from this store, fast shipping and arrived just on time for a gig. Will be ordering from this place again!

Mary Ann Wyckoff: Aaron was very helpful with answering questions and guiding me towards choosing the right bass clarinet for me! I definitely recommend Chuck Levin’s!

Steinway Piano Gallery - Mid-Atlantic Selection Center (By Appointment Only): what do users think?

Anita Pratana Yuthasastrkosol: 100% best experience having my studio’s students recital here! Jenny, the marketing director for Steinway personally came to help me set up and made sure that I had everything I needed before the recital. She and her brother went out of their way to make sure that my students, family, and guests were able to find the hall without problem. Everyone was very happy!

Anne Topic: Jenny was brilliant to work with. She ensured every piano I tried was beautifully prepped. Gave me tons of space to sample pianos and to deliberate about them. Ultimately, she offered me a great deal on the purchase of a Model A--better than any of the multitude of other piano sellers I consulted. I also really enjoyed working with Jenny. She's personable, knowledgeable, and very good at making the daunting business of piano shopping fun and stress-free. I couldn't be happier!

bellaestrella1: Great experience shopping for an upgrade to my daughter's piano. She has been playing for a few years and is now considering studying at the college level so we needed a better piano - something that could sound like a GP but fit in a split level home. A friend and neighbor recommended we work with Jenny and we were so happy with her recommendation. Jenny made our experience very calm and relaxed, giving my daughter time to play as many pianos as she wanted to test. She finally narrowed her choice to two pianos and went back and forth a bit until she was happy with her selection. Thanks Jenny! Couldn't be happier.

Hayanshinvi: Ms. Jenny was incredibly nice, hard working, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We came in looking for a Steinway B and Ms. Jenny showed the perfect one for us (and several others as comparison). She really went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy during the process and we can't thank her enough!! Thank you, Jenny, and steinway gallery for making this happen.

Hyewon Ryu: I had a fantastic experience at the Steinway Piano Gallery - Mid Atlantic Center! I am a professional pianist who is about to build up my career as a piano teacher/performer after my graduation of doctorate. I visited there because I was interested in buying the Steinway used grand piano. I met a terrific woman named Jenny there who helped me out with the purchase of a piano with a true and honest heart. She completely understood what I was looking for and tried her best to find the best piano for me. I could feel that Jenny sincerely tried hard to find a really great used piano for me as I visited there twice in order to try the piano. Not just interested in selling for piano, but she truly listened to me, and she has a passionate and big heart to encourage and help a young pianist/teacher who just embarked to build her career. I was very impressed by that. I visited so many places to try out different Steinway pianos but I never had this impression that the salesperson really tries to help the buyer to find a proper and the best piano. I guess... if you have a true heart for something, then it can be reached out to others... She helped me to give different options to buy a really good brand NEW piano and educated me to learn about all the advantages of buying a new piano. You know, as a performer, how would you not want to buy a new Steinway piano?? My plan was to buy the used one, however, because of Jenny's help, I ended up buying a brand new piano at a very very very good price!!! I am very excited to have the piano soon!!!! I can't wait to practice with this amazing instrument and to be improved even further while I prepare for my upcoming concert with this instrument! If you are a pianist who is willing to buy a piano, I strongly and wholeheartedly recommend meeting Jenny! She will definitely help you to find the best piano at a wonderful price!

Seyi Badmus: I cannot say enough good things about this location of Steinway Piano Gallery. The entire staff is so professional and their customer service is beyond amazing. Jenny goes above and beyond to make sure you choose the right piano that suits your needs and continues to support you beyond your purchase. You won’t regret it, get your piano at this location.

Demetrios Marantis: Steinway Piano Gallery in Bethesda just made our long-standing piano dreams come true. We have been looking for a great quality, used baby grand piano. Thanks to Jenny’s terrific help, we found the perfect instrument. We tested a variety of options, including Bostons and Steinways, and decided to purchase a gorgeous Steinway with a deep, full sound. We had a terrific experience and very much appreciate the help of Jenny as well as Matt. We are so thrilled and can’t wait to play this piano for the rest of our lives!

Karen Walwyn: Ms. Jenny was simply AMAZING! She changed my life!!! Her attention, her time, her care, her huge Herculian efforts, all led to make things possible beyond what I could have ever imagined! I couldn't be happier! As for helping me bring a beautiful new Steinway D to Howard University has been a beautiful thing for which I will be eternally grateful! To say she goes the extra mile does not cut it. I have found a new friend as well as Steinway colleague. As a Steinway Artist myself, our new found relationship will be a lifetime one. I am most grateful to Ms. Jenny and to everyone at Steinway Piano Gallery for making all happen!! Thank you!

Antigua Productions: I highly recommend the Steinway Gallery North Bethesda store. I purchased my first acoustic piano after owning a few keyboards and Helen Koo was very patient, accommodating and knowledgeable. As a first time buyer, you have anxieties and Helen was able to help me find the right piano for me. I am now the proud owner of an Essex upright and it sounds beautiful. The whole process was just very smooth and I definitely felt like a valued customer. The piano delivery and tuning was world class talent as well. While I have not owned a piano before, I know many colleagues who own acoustic pianos and I’ve heard some less than fortunate stories. In summary, I am a happy customer and I recommend the Bethesda Gallery for your Steinway needs 🙂

Autumn Park: First of all, I would highly recommend the Steinway Piano Gallery Mid-Atlantic Center in Bethesda,MD!! It was a very pleasant experience for my son and me. Helen and Jenny helped me out to choose the best piano for my family...I am so glad to hear their advice...The Boston GP 178 fits really well in my living room..I had been looking for a smaller one, but Helen and Jenny found a great piano for my family.. My son and I enjoyed playing the piano at the store without any pressure. Their service is top notch!! Also delivery was quick and excellent since my house has many stairs and corners. I already plan to upgrade Stweinway grand piano when my little baby is old enough to respect it. I will definitely visit there again. 😊 My sons and I are so happy with Boston piano now. Thank you, Helen and Jenny

Jordan Kitt's Music: what do users think?

Julie Pertman: We had a wonderful experience at Jordan Kitt's. Tom helped us to select the right piano for our family. We were so pleased to get a newer "used" piano that will be in our family for many more years.

Nicole Kim: I was looking for a specific Yamaha piano and called Jordan Kitt’s music, because I remembered my parents buying a piano from them seventeen years ago. Fortunately, the Rockville location had the exact piano that arrived a day before my call. This felt meant to be! I came in the next day and met with Tom Grace. Tom answered all my questions and gave me a great price. Now my daughter and I get to enjoy our beautiful piano for many years to come. Thank you Tom and Jordan Kitt’s Music!

Stefanie Miller: Wonderful experience and wonderful piano!! Our family lives in Washington, DC and recently decided to get a piano for our home with two little kiddos. I perused the inventory online and reached out to the shop to inquire about a piano I saw that looked like it might be just the right fit for our needs. Tom responded to my inquiry very quickly, and we were able to set up an in-person appointment that upcoming weekend. Tom showed us the piano I first inquired about and a few others. We ended up purchasing the piano I saw online - a beautiful, used Kawai baby grand - which was promptly delivered to our home a few days later. All in all a wonderful experience. And our house has been filled with music - and some toddler key slamming - ever since!

Victoria Ou: A super friendly, informative, and easy experience! I went into the store knowing I'd be looking at digital pianos, but had no idea about the brands or the differences between them. Tom showed me around and told me about which ones are most popular and who tends to buy which types, which was super helpful :) They also delivered the piano very quickly and were able to accommodate my restricted schedule, so I was very pleased with the experience. I would definitely recommend!

Dave: We bought a beautiful digital piano for a great price. We are excited to embark on the path of learning to play. After my interactions with the staff at Jordan Kitt's I have the impression that this is a business and a place of music that has integrity.

Mengchuan Li: If you are looking for a place to purchase a piano, look no further. I have played acoustic piano for over twenty years and recently moved to this area, needing a digital piano to meet my specific needs. The pianos here are of high quality, and with a great variety of selections. I enjoyed as much time as I needed to try the different pianos. Mr. Andy Carignan was extremely knowledgable and resourceful, and went out of the way to make sure I find the exact right one. He patiently answered all my questions in detail, without any pressure. I was so much more educated about digital piano than before I walked into the store. I can't thank you enough! Did I mention that Andy plays the piano so beautifully and gracefully? Be sure to hear it.

Teresa Bowers: My new Clavinova 765GP is wonderful - amazing like playing an acoustic grand! Tom was very helpful throughout the process, answering all my questions promptly and arranging delivery. Victor and his partner were thorough and experienced in setting up the piano. I highly recommend Jordan Kitt's - very professional and great to work with.

Elizabeth Christian: Love my new Roland Digital piano and the excellent service provided by my sales consultant, Andy Carignan and the gentlemen who delivered it and set it up. Jordan Kitt's Music is an excellent place to buy a piano!

Mary Linda Mills: My husband and I own and Yamaha Conservatory Grand and we wanted a new Disklavier ENSPIRE system installed so we called Andy at Jordan Kitts Music and he ordered it but the supply chain broke down what with COVID-19 and we had to wait a year on it! Well, as soon as it came in, Andy called and Jeremy came to install it and 'what a wonder he was!!!" so professional and knowledgeable about Yamaha piano's and Disklavier systems and how to operate them in the home with computers for videos and audio equipment included. He explained how to set up our phones, and we did, he explained how I could rehearse with earphones and not disturb the family (I'm a pianist) and he made the whole overall processes seem simple. What a delightful wizard! We are 'happy like birds' with our experience and will stay with Jordan Kitt's Music for all our piano and entertainment needs. Thank You!

Jonathan Walker: I wanted to go with a local vendor since I needed to verify some details about the newest line of Yamaha Clavinovas. Thomas was extremely helpful, researched some facts I needed, and was always very staightforward, honest, and professional. Delivery was smooth. Highly recommend this shop.

Music on the Hill: what do users think?

Maritza Cooper: What a lovely place to not only purchase an instrument but learn how to use it! We started with my granddaughter learning the violin and moved on to mommy taking guitar lessons. Very homey atmosphere and great with kids of all ages! When I finally have the time I want to learn how to play drums!

Donovan Dorrance: Aaron hooked me up with a great set-up for my telecaster. Helped fix some intonation issues. So very grateful for his expertise, efficiency, and kindness. Highly recommend coming here! They will treat you right!!!

Shawn Benson: Music on the Hill - The Hill’s own neighborhood music shop. Pretty cool. I’m a new client at Music on the Hill and I’m a very satisfied customer. My wife and I look forward to coming back, taking lessons, and recommending this neighborhood music shop to our musically-inclined or curious friends. Their prices are often just as good (and sometimes better) than their competition. The customer service/expertise is spot-on. And, you feel good knowing your money is going back to a small, local business. Frankly, it’s an investment in our community and that’s almost reason enough these days. Give them a shot. They don’t have everything, but they’ve got a lot and it was more than enough for us.

anne phelps: My whole family loves Music on the Hill! Lindy is a terrific resource on all things music related. We’ve had great experiences with lessons (clarinet and guitar) and when we wanted to upgrade to a wooden clarinet, Lindy & Luke found us a quality used instrument. If there’s something we need and they don’t have it, they’ve always been able to get it in short order. Music on the Hill is everything a local music store should be.

DAVID BAROI: On March 29th around 5 pm Me and my friend wanted to check this store out we are not from the dc area and we drove during rush hour traffic took us 40 min. But where we arrived I was keen on checking out the guitars and my buddy wanted to get a a quarter in jack. After we went in we an employee Middle Aged female was being rude as soon as we walked i; she made us feel very uncomfortable and eying us down the whole time. My friend even purchased a product and yet she was keen on getting us out the door and I was in the middle of considering purchasing the fender Stratocaster Mexico made but yet she was nudging for the door. After being in there not even for 10 min she came up and told us we had to leave. And so we abided by what she said and left. But will I go back again ? No how can i go into a music store and spend over a hundred dollar on anything without taking my time on inspecting that product.
Response: David- I'm very sorry that you felt rushed at Music on the Hill. Unfortunately, you did show up 15 minutes before our posted closing hours, and I (the middle aged women you talk about) had a family obligation that could not be put off. If you are still interested in the Fender, give us a call at the store, and we can set up an appointment to ensure that you get all the time you need.

Amaobi Otiji: I had an enjoyable experience buying a guitar here. Their shop setup is really aesthetically pleasing and their selections were all from very quality makers. The staff were very helpful in finding something that fit me by giving me a lot of options to work with. I also enjoyed them showing off the instruments with their musical skills.
Response: Amaobi- thank you for your kind words! I hope you are still enjoying your guitar!

Eric Schneider: Since this place added a guitar tech and luthier, I have taken in three guitars and received perfect setups and provided great service in general. So glad to have these folks in Capitol Hill instead of having to give a conglomerate like Guitar Center my business!

Kevin Wholihan: Had an amazing purchasing experience here and came away with a gorgeous acoustic. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, quickly found me the right size and a great fit. Very good COVID precautions. Will be back for my next major purchase.
Response: Thanks Kevin!

La Rana: I live in PA, but we were visiting DC while my daughter's school was having a 30-day music challenge of students practicing their instrument every day. Not wanting to lug a cello in our small car to and from DC, I called Music on the Hill and explained my unusual request. Luke was kind enough to set aside a cello for my daughter so she could practice for 10 minutes and get credit for playing that day. Not only that, but one of the employees helped her tune the cello. Thanks for your dedication to young musicians!
Response: Esther- thanks for your kind review! It was lovely to meet you and your family, and we are always exited to support musicians!

Allison Eriksen: Can't speak to their lessons or guitar supplies, which seem to be their mainstay. I was looking for piano music and selection was very limited so I didn't find anything I wanted. Woodwind and other marching band supplies are pretty non-existent. I play clarinet and they only had the softest reeds, a few books for learners, a cleaning kit and that was it. I know its a small space, but I would love to have a music supply store locally for all instruments.
Response: Allison- thanks for the review. The plan is to keep adding depth to all of our departments, including woodwinds. Until we are able to stock "everything"- I can special order in just about anything you might need.

Piano Man Superstore: what do users think?

Craig Gildner: We purchased a beautiful 1955 Baldwin baby grand with satin black finish back in February during a sale. Nick and his crew took the extra step of making sure the piano looked as great as it sounded...which led to an entire refinishing...at no extra charge. The delivery went well and was efficient, careful, and professional. Can't say enough good stuff about these guys!

J C: I bought a Yamaha piano here online. I was very pleased with the service. The piano was here at the previously promised timeframe. The tuner was scheduled and came within two weeks after the piano arrived as promised as well. Great service. Nick was always reachable on the phone and over email. He always was able to update me about the status of the delivery whenever I call or email. Highly recommended!

Beverly Paul: My beautiful Yamaha baby grand piano arrived yesterday. I am beyond pleased with the customer service. Both Jamil and Ryan were very pleasant and customer service oriented. No hard selling…Jamil was patient and showed me piano after piano (so many great choices) until I found the perfect one for me. Great buying experience! Would highly recommend!

Shayne Madison: Nick was truly helpful and gave expert guidance as I purchased a piano for my son. We were in great hands and have a wonderful piano. Thank you Nick and your delivery team! We could not be more happy. Thank you!

R bali: I had the most amazing experience at Pianoman. We were in the market for getting an acoustic piano and Nick and Ryan were the very best. The selection of Pianos was amazing we didn’t feel the need to go to another store. Ryan was the best please ask for him as he is patient and willing to answer the same question any number of times. He was extremely pleasant to work with and I can’t think of a better store to go to.

Tim Harrison: I purchased the piano early November, took numerous phone calls to Nick and finally they delivered the piano a month later. I was promised an adjustable bench with the purchase cause I have 2 kids and they never delivered it. Nick kept telling me that it will be shipped to me and it never arrived! He never return any of my phone calls and I am tired of calling him. Tuning was supposed to be included with the purchased which they suppose to do it within a month of delivery. I had called Nick countless times and he said a guy name Ian will call me to setup the tuning which of course never happened! I understand Nick is an older man but I've been more then enough patient with him and I call it quit at this point. I will call my credit card company to dispute the charge for the bench and tuning. Stay away from this place!

Frances A McDonald: I have always wanted to own a Baldwin baby grand piano and when I retired I decided to make this one of my goals. Love makes the world go 'round but I believe that music soothes and uplifts the soul. Decades ago I earned an undergraduate music degree and during college I was allowed to practice on the Steinways and Baldwins, which were reserved for guest artists, professors, and music students, and gradually developed an appreciation for Baldwin pianos. So last year, I searched online and saw the add for Piano Man Superstore in College Park, MD. It took several weeks to decide whether or not to go to check out the store because I live in the Shenandoah area in VA and it would require at least a two-hour drive on the beltway to MD. UGH!!! I'm glad I did because the store has the best selection of uprights and grands of different sizes from various manufacturers I've ever seen: Steinway, Mason/Hamlin, Wurlitzer, Kohler/Campbell, Kimball, Yamaha, etc. and of course Baldwin. I initially tested several (which were within my budget) but kept going back to an Ebony Satin 1994 Classic Baldwin Petite Baby Grand, 4'9", made in the USA (which exceeded my budget). Guess what!!! It took a couple of months for the Baldwin to be delivered because the piano had to go through a special reconditioning/refinishing process before delivery and there has been a delivery driver shortage. I chose an ebony satin finish for the Baldwin and got to pick a padded piano bench. It took another month to schedule a professional piano tuner to come to my home to tune the Baldwin, also due to a piano tuner shortage. Thank you, Nick Margaritas, for the excellent quality and service you provided. Also, thank you for your patience in responding to my anxious, pesky telephone calls about the piano's delivery and obtaining a piano tuner. The Baldwin looks fabulous and sounds fantastic!!! The pianist, however, needs a lot more practice but is having a lot of fun. LOL!!!
Response: What a wonderful review from an lovely lady. She has been a real pleasure to deal with. Thank you. Nick

Lotus Lee Studios: This guy is an obvious racist/misogynist who is only interested in scheduling an appointment to see his showroom if you are white, smell of money, and promise to buy from him sight unseen without even playing it first. Apparently he does not get that even for a professional musician a grand piano is a huge investment and needs to be played first. I suppose to him it is just rich people's furniture. Even new cars get test driven first at any dealership! He's not interested in selling pianos to capable musicians. He's only interested in selling them to no-talent hacks, as long as they promise to buy. The guy's a jerk and deserves to go out of business. Salespeople who judge you on sight without knowing anything about you and failing to treat you initially with respect should not be rewarded with anyone's business, much less any person of color. I hope he moves his showroom directly into retirement.

William Thompson: Great service in the store and seamless effort through the storage and shipping process, would definitely recommend
Response: Great customer. He was easy to work with and was always appreciative. Nick Piano Man

Joshua P: Great staff, competitive prices, and their warranty is gold! We bought a beautiful baby grand piano after searching several piano stores and other online postings. We decided to buy from Piano Man because their inventory was superb and their pricing was very competitive. After our purchase and delivery, we noticed a small problem with the sostenuto pedal. One call to Piano Man, and we had a plan for a fix no questions asked. A great experience with them, highly recommended!
Response: Thank you for your kind words, Josh! It was a pleasure serving your family, and we hope you enjoy your Boston baby grand for many years to come!

House of Musical Traditions: what do users think?

Gregg Carrier: These guys are great! They have an awesome collection of instruments. They were really helpful without being salesy at all. We hung out for about 3 hours playing every guitar in the store, and ended up going home with a couple of beautiful Breedlove's. This place is exactly what I want in a music store.

Wilhelm Bonnette: Excellent place to find hard to find instruments as well as for instrument repair. This is a musical instrument boutique.....especially for string and percussion instruments. I found several drums that are collectable, which were in great condition. If you are serious about your craft....then you have to make time to visit!!!

Diego Mundo: This place is incredible, I felt like a child in a candy store. They have a nice selection of violins (including electric, sweet) and mandolin family instruments definitely worth checking out. A wide variety of other instruments too! The staff were lovely, quite knowledgeable, and supportive. I'd have stayed all day if I wasn't jumping up and down to get back into practice with the mandolin I purchased. One of the best music stores I've visited - I must return!
Response: Thanks for the nice review, Diego! Enjoy your mandolin and we hope to see you again soon.

Jason Mendelson: Fantastic shop. I've bought from them a few times and they are super friendly, knowledgeable, have good quality gear (even the used stuff), pack safely and ship quickly.

Dilara Orer: What an amazing place! I brought in my 92 year old father's ud (oud) to be repaired and restrung. He hasn’t been able to play in years, and also he wanted a somewhat unusual tuning his mother had taught him. Alexander called me personally to double check everything, which I really appreciated. As if that wasn’t enough, they delivered it directly to my parent’s home so they wouldn’t have to drive out to Takoma Park, which blew me away. I will be taking another Turkish instrument to them soon. These guys are amazing, and the staff and owner are super friendly. Cannot recommend enough.
Response: Thanks so much for the nice review, Dilara! We were glad to help with this very special instrument.

Greg O: I am the type of person who goes into a music shop and likes to try a lot of instruments for a while before I buy and in many big chain music stores such as Chuck Levins, Guitar Center and music and arts I usually get very impatient, VERY PUSHY and rude service from the sales staff. I was so delighted to not experience that at all from your sales staff and this lack of pressure MADE ME BUY. I will definitely be back.
Response: Thanks so much for this positive review, Greg! We aim for a low-pressure atmosphere in the store and we're glad to hear you appreciate that. Hope to see you again!

Daniel Meltzer: A wonderfully overwhelming array of instruments in this shop. Very nice folks. I am glad we have this place in the Baltimore/DC area.
Response: Thanks so much for your positive feedback and support, Daniel!

Ben Havilland: This is the place to go for acoustic guitars, new and 2nd hand. I had an excellent experience, spent a lot of time there making my choice and they let me do it while helping me with zero pressure. Make sure to see the room upstairs where many amazing gems live. I ended up getting a Tanglewood that had clarity and projection I've not heard in that price range. (Paid $699). Did i mention the staff was super nice? I'd recommend these kind folk to anybody looking for a good deal on an amazing instrument. I'll be back again next time I'm looking for another acoustic. Best experience I've had trying and buying, hands down.

Dan Armstrong: I had rated this place two stars when I left my lap steel to be repaired and it took a couple of months to even get the status. Turns out the guy who does repairs only comes by every couple of weeks and decided to skip a visit. Then when he did pick it up, my instrument was last in line behind a big backlog. Despite being assured of a call, I never got one. When I called House of Musical Traditions to see what was going on, they had no idea. So I got the number of the repair guy and called him directly. Once the middleman was out of the picture, the process went smoothly. He did a great job replacing the pegs and the price was reasonable. I upgraded the review to three stars because I'm over my annoyance and love the cool instruments and laid-back atmosphere of this shop. There is no place like it in the DC area that I know of. Or anywhere in the world that I've come across, for that matter. The guys who run it are super nice. Generous about letting you fool around with the instruments. Just don't expect prompt or attentive service if you leave something to be repaired.
Response: Thank you for your feedback! It sounds like you may have had a negative experience at our shop. If that is the case, we would love to hear from you directly about what happened so that we can work to resolve it. We want all of our customers to have a positive experience with House of Musical Traditions and value your feedback. Please feel free to email or call anytime. - HMT Management

El desinformador Informador: This store repairs accordion microphone inputs since I have a condenser microphone, it is two microphones in one but when you connect the tip or plug as is normally done, only one microphone sounds the one on the grill but the one with the bass does not if I take it out in the middle more or less work the two microphones can repair this or what would be the problem in advance I hope your help thanks
Response: Hello! It sounds like you are asking if we repair electronics/microphones on accordions. Currently, we do not have a repair person in our network with that specialty. You are welcome to call us at 301-270-9090 for more information. If you have not yet done business with our store, we would respectfully ask that you remove your review since a 2-star rating negatively impacts us. Please feel free to contact us directly for any further information or assistance, thanks!

Schaeffer's Piano Company: what do users think?

Linda Cancellieri: As Director of Music at Trinity United Methodist Church in Alexandria, I was fortunate to find our new Kawai GL50 grand at Schaeffer's. The entire experience was easily 5 star. We had a very pleasant and efficient sales meeting with Tim, the fourth generation owner, who was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Schaeffer's very professional team delivered the piano, accompanied by the owner. I was impressed by this company throughout the transaction and highly recommend them.

Nick Ballam: We took advantage of the annual MCPS Piano Sale and bought our first upright piano. The staff is very helpful and honest. Delivery was a difficult job as we live in a townhouse with a flight of cement stairs in front but they executed it without mishap. The piano is great and we got a great price on it. It also came with a fifteen year warranty for parts and labor as long as we get it tuned regularly. Would recommend.

Feinian Chen: We bought our Kawai GL-30 grand piano from Schaeffer's Piano Company a few months ago. We had a very positive experience. Tim was very knowledgeable and offered great advice to us. We got a good price for trading in our upright. The delivery was also very professional and smooth.

Ji Eun Lee: It was a pleasant experience to buy our first piano at Schaeffer's. It took quite a time for us to decide the right piano, but Tim was always friendly and gave quick responses, making our journey easier and comfortable. Other staff we talked with, including Tim's uncle, were also very kind and caring. Now we're enjoying our new piano. If you'd like to buy a piano, just go to Schaeffer's!

Alejandro Fuentes (AF): I 100% recommended that anyone looking at grand pianos, especially Steinways, visit Tim at Schaeffer’s Piano Company. My wife and I purchased one last month and could not be happier with our mechanically restored Golden Era Steinway that contains brand new Steinway action parts. We went in looking for an upright and got a grand instead and did it without ever being pressured by them. Their values align more with educating and explaining their craftsmanship as opposed to finances. I know some all-time performers, but Tim is the most skilled and talented person I have ever met for the piano. His craftsmanship is brilliant, and it’s a trade his family members have passed down through generations for well over a century. We felt so comfortable getting a Steinway from Schaeffer’s, more so than anywhere else. Their long-term warranties and trade-in policies made it a no-brainer for us. They showed us that Steinways are affordable, after all. Use Schaeffer’s, everyone. You don’t need to spend over $100k for a Steinway Grand. Those are just markups. Any Steinway Tim and Company have in their possession will sound even better after they finish applying their craft. Trust me on this. Best Steinway experience possible. 5 Stars.

Peter Robbins: My wife has dreamed of owning her own good quality piano for years. Finally in a position to make it happen, we shopped around online everywhere near DC, and Schaeffers had the right selection of rebuilt uprights that met my wife's priorities. I appreciated that we could schedule an appointment and have a safer shopping experience. We would have been thoroughly pleased with many of the pianos that were available, but found an early 1900s refurbished model that, despite being a century old, should be with us for the rest of our lives. The in-house rebuilt pianos were what my wife was particularly interested in and why we shopped here, but their selection of new pianos was impressive with a great variety of price points, brands, and models. Delivery was professional and exceptional as well. Thanks Schaeffer's Piano!

Joanna Silver: We've been working with Schaeffer's since buying our piano there five years ago. They were very helpful when we were buying the piano originally, they understood our price point and helped us find a good piano within it. We've used them for tuning every year since and their technicians have been prompt, efficient, and friendly. We recently had a problem with the bench that came with our piano and they were extremely helpful with that as well.

Samuel Chao: We bought our daughter's first piano at Schaeffer's about a month ago, and it was a great experience. Tim was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions patiently. The delivery team was also very professional and they gave us great advice on how to protect our floor. We have been to several area piano showrooms and decided to make our purchase here because we like that it's family owned and operated, and it has by far the best deal. Highly recommended!

Jason Sack: They are sincere, passionate about pianos, and realize the shortsightedness of putting a quick buck above long-term customer satisfaction. In 2017 I purchased a Boston studio model, and after a day in the house, I realized that the nicer piano I had considered (a "Charles Walter Upright") was tugging at my heartstrings. I was willing to pay a bit more for an heirloom-grade instrument. I called Rick Schaeffer, explained things, and there was zero grief or push-back. They dropped by, swapped them out, I paid the difference, and everyone left happier for it. In 2021 one of the hammers suffered a broken spring. I loosened a screw to remove it and - knowing the extent of my technical skill and the risks of DIY repair - stopped by with the broken part. Tim invited me into the workshop while Stan made the repair. Being a fellow piano nerd, we talked shop, and they could not have been nicer. Again, there was zero grief or price-gouging for my little DIY adventure. This is a fantastic family business, and I can not recommend them enough.

Hanna Yu: We had such a wonder experience with Tim at Schaeffers Piano! It was quick and easy and ended up getting a much better piano than what we went in for. Great selection and great service. The trade-up program is great and awesome showroom with the attached shop that makes it a one stop shop. Our piano got delivered right away and on time. I highly recommend Scaheffers if you’re looking for a quality piano.

Jordan Kitt's Music: what do users think?

Eric Kelley: An opportunity came up in my life to have the piano I wanted. The Yamaha C-3 grand piano. I inquired with Jordan Kitts Music. They advised me that they had a C-3 and gave me an overview of the instrument. I decided to look at the instrument in the store. Brad, the store manager and associate Kenny both greeted me and showed me the instrument. As I was introducing myself to the instrument, they answered all my questions about the instrument, the store, their service and technicians, and also offered suggestions due to the model of the instrument of what I could do with it in the future. They allowed me to spend time by myself with the instrument where I was able to sit and play to get a real sense of the instrument. Naturally, we talked about music and pianos, where they showed me some new instruments. While outside my ability to afford, this allowed me to experience instruments I’ve never played before and gave me a lot of appreciated knowledge and insight about these new instruments. They had a wealth of information and knowledge about pianos, their inventory, and music generally. It was clear that they understood pianists. This gave me confidence about purchasing the C-3 from Jordan Kitts. They spent a lot of time and attention to what I wanted. They also understood how important this purchase was for me. After about a week of preparation of the piano, it was delivered promptly at 11am. The delivery was seamless, and the movers took great care bringing the instrument in the house and setting it up. I have to say that I am extremely satisfied working with Jordan Kitts to find the instrument I wanted. It is also clear to me that they have a strong relationship with the community which, as a musician, is also important for me. Outstanding experience!

J M: Kenny at JKM Fairfax Store has my highest recommendation! I met Kenny first at JKM piano roadshow at Costco before the pandemic, then again when I resumed my piano search at JKM Fairfax early 2022. As a classically trained pianist, Kenny demonstrated and shared his view of different pianos. He patiently answered my questions and gave me time to evaluate options. When I narrowed down to 2 options, he and manager Brad checked availability and best pricing to help me with my decision. I never felt rushed in my decision. They are more my trusted advisors than sales. The piano was ready for delivery in 1 months instead of 3 months as originally expected. The crew lead Vick confirmed a 2hr time frame the day before delivery. The crew (Vick+2) was on time even with rain and set the piano up in 30mins. Thanks to Kenny, Brad, Vick and JKM for making my piano search journey memorable. You have delivered happiness to many homes, kids and parents that would be appreciated for a lifetime.

Morgan Witthoft: Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Absolutely gorgeous pianos. If for some un fathomable reason your home doesn’t yet have a premium piano you must have a look at the pianos at J Kitt’s Music.

Vickie Carlson: Manager Brad Prentice at the Fairfax location graciously helped me choose a new digital piano to replace an old one. He showed me the features of many models and guided me to just the right one for my needs. I am very happy with it and glad to be playing again on my new Roland HP702. Thank you Jordan Kitts Music.

MrDcrules: Brad Prentice and the Jordan Kitts Fairfax store are world class. They let the client experience the different models on their own, but also are very helpful in guiding the purchase decision and can help people understand the intricacies and capabilities of the various pianos. Highly recommended!

Jay Song: Akeem was incredibly helpful and followed up with us multiple times after our first inquiry. We were originally planning to purchase from another competitor but ended up going with Akeem as he was much more responsive. When JKM's delivery partners couldn't schedule a time for us, Brad single handedly came and hand delivered us a the Yamaha Piano (and it was heavy af) Overall, nice guys and great service.

Dana Varona: We had a wonderful experience buying our new Yamaha baby grand piano from Brad at the Fairfax location! I’m a local music teacher, and since piano isn’t my main instrument, we couldn’t justify spending an large amount of money on this purchase. Brad was extremely respectful of my budget and offered a substantial music teacher discount on a great instrument. Where other stores told me my budget was too low or didn’t return my inquiry, Brad was in touch right away with several options. He was also extremely accommodating of my schedule and limitations with a baby in tow. In the end, we were able to purchase the instrument we wanted for a reasonable price and with tremendous ease. The delivery crew was spectacular and set up the piano quickly and with utmost care, which was very much appreciated. Can’t recommend highly enough - this is a wonderful company deserving of your business!

Kyle Buschbacher: Very professional every step of the way. Brad took very good care of me by giving me time to try the different pianos out in the showroom, showing the different grand piano options for my budget, and giving me thorough explanations and answers to my questions. Very easy process for buying and the delivery team was awesome! They got my 5'8" baby grand piano up 3 flights of stairs and ensured they put it exactly where I wanted it. I definitely recommend to anyone looking to buy a new or used piano.

John Mastarone: I recently purchased a digital piano, a CLP-685 from the Fairfax location, with Meera's help. I came in knowing that I wanted to make some kind of purchase, with two basic ideas of what I might want---one being what Wirecutter recommended, a Yamaha model the store didn't carry, and the other being what Simone Dinnerstein recommended in the WSJ in 2013, an AvantGrand N2. Meera pointed me towards the CLP line, and I decided I wanted to try the higher-end 685, which Meera said felt / sounded in some ways obviously better than other CLP models. I didn't try lesser models, but was very happy with the sound and touch of the 685. I also tried two different AvantGrand models, which did not to me seem enormously better than the 685. The AvantGrand models were more expensive than the CLP, and I decided to purchase it after that first visit to the store. Before the visit, Meera was very responsive over email and accommodating of my requested appt times. I felt safe while in the store due to the virus precautions that were being made, and during the tryouts, Meera was helpful in describing the differences between any piano I asked about / tried out. Since the model I requested was in stock I was able to then get it delivered quickly, and have had no problems with the piano since.

Lisa Brackenbury: I definitely recommend Jordan Kitt's if you're interested in purchasing a piano. They have a wonderful selection and Brad Prentice is super knowledgeable, friendly, and super responsive via texts and e-mail. (He'll even let you sit and play for a few hours while you decide.) I ended up going with the Yamaha AvantGrand Hybrid N3X and it's incredible. I LOVE mine! You won't be sorry you visited Jordan Kitt's. Just put a bug in their ear to open a location closer to Ashburn/Herndon/Leesburg! (The location in Fairfax is fairly painful to drive to.)

Steinway Piano Gallery: what do users think?

Anthony Bruce: The team at Steinway did an amazing job restoring our piano. Our piano was very old and was very much in need of repair. It now looks, plays, feels, and sounds new. It is a beautiful instrument to see and to hear. But I know that it is still the same piano that I grew up listening to my mother play. While its flaws are gone, its sentimentality remains. The experience with the team was fantastic -- from consultation to agreement to pickup to restoration to delivery, every step was professional. I recommend Steinway Piano Gallery to anyone considering buying or restoring.
Response: Thank you for your kind review, Anthony. It was our pleasure to serve you. May you enjoy your beautiful piano for many years to come!

Serdar Benderli: Went there at 12PM when they say they are open, but they were closed because of a "Meeting in progress". I looked through the windows and was shocked to see beautiful Steinway Pianos covered in dust, and no sign of any construction in progress! Both the pianos near the window were really dirty and dusty. It's atrocious that they let such beautiful instruments get covered in dust like that. They clearly don't care enough about their pianos to at least regularly clean them - there is barely 10 pianos in the whole gallery, it wouldn't be that hard! This is in stark contrast to many other piano galleries in the area where the staff is much more caring about their instruments. I will not be going back to a piano gallery that does not care about its pianos.
Response: Thank you for the note, Serdar - the construction company doing renovation next door to us blew demolition dust into our space. We have had to close the showroom until their insurance company settles with us. Please call 877-577-4266 to visit our flagship showroom in Bethesda. Our business listing on Google and on our web site does indicate that we are now open by appointment only. We will be more than happy to help in any way we can.

THE FLYNN: Jenny and Irena at Steinway Tysons were amazing to work with. They were super knowledgeable and helpful. Jenny handled our entire purchase and shipping logistic process. Looking forward to trading up from the Boston-GP178 to a Steinway one day... Its very reassuring to know Steinway offers a lifetime trade up guarantee.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! We count ourselves lucky for customers like you. We hope you enjoy many years of musical magic on your stunning Boston piano. We look forward to working with you again in the future.

Jeff B: The two sales ladies were very accompanying. They let my son play on a few out their higher end pianos. It was a great experience for him. He plans to buy a Steinway when he complete college.
Response: Thank you for stopping by, Jeff! We love to hear that you enjoyed your visit. When your son is ready, we'll be here for him!

Robert Winter: My wife and I recently purchased a Steinway B Sperio. We could not be happier. The piano is everything we hoped for. David Slan, of Steinway Piano Gallery, came over our house several times to help in the selection process and arranged for a virtual presentation by Steinway in NY of two pianos selected to meet our preference in tone and mechanics. Steinway experts in both NY and in our area facilitated the overall process. All in all it was remarkably easy and comfortable for what was a very important purchase.
Response: Thank you for sharing your positive experience, Robert! We are so pleased to hear you love your Steinway Spirio- what an incredible piano you have! Please let us know how we can help you in the future and thank you again for taking time out of your day to leave us this kind review.

Paul Anderson: We contacted Charlotte Woods regarding a full-rebuild of my parents' 1891 O Model. Charlotte came to our house right away. She measured, found the serial number, dated the piano, and wrote up the paperwork. The delivery truck soon arrived. Our lovely rebuilt Steinway was returned in short order. My son loves his "new" rebuilt Steinway from my parents and the piano will serve another generation. It looks and sounds amazing. We have known Charlotte for years at our church and have heard her give piano and organ recitals. She has been a member of the choir for many years. We have a high level of trust for her experience and integrity; and for her skills as a musician and an expert on everything Steinway. She took excellent care of us from start to finish. She really cares about her customers. I heartily recommend that you visit the Tysons Steinway Piano Gallery and work with Charlotte Woods.

Jiayue Liu: (Been playing the piano for ~8 years, so not a beginner) I was bored to decided to check out the store, there was another family there and I was alone. I walked in wanting to try out a couple of pianos, but the lady stopped me and said that the family was trying out the piano and I couldn't play. It was in a kinda rude tone, but I left cuz I didn't have anything to do and decided to come later. I went out for around 30 mins, came back, and there was no one in the store so I thought it would be a good time to go back in. The same lady was there, and when I walked in and started looking around, and told me I couldn't play and I had to leave. No reason given this time, and in a very rude tone. Would've considered buying a piano, but the customer service is terrible there.

Sharon Ruan: I bought a Steinway Grand piano from Helen Koo and Jenny Hung at Steinway Gallery at Tyson Corner! They not only provided me professional advice to help me narrow down the model to fit my living room, but also help me get the best price. My kids and I start to enjoy the Steinway, the most beautiful and amazing sound in the world! If you are still looking for a piano, please do not hesistate to pick up phone to call these two ladies or go to Steinway Gallery at Tyson Corner directly today!
Response: Thank you, Sharon! We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us — and we agree, Jenny and Helen are truly gems to have on our team. We count ourselves lucky for customers like you. We hope you and your children enjoy many years of music on your beautiful Steinway piano!

Robert Capan: Charlotte Woods is a very knowledgeable representative at Steinway Piano Gallery at Tyson Corners. She explained all the intricacies of the manufacturing process of a Steinway Piano and pointed out structural differences of why Steinway Piano's has an advantage over their competitors. She took the time to let me listen and compare the different resonant traits of various Steinway models. Being at the Steinway Piano Gallery bought back very fond childhood memories of me playing my parents mid-1970's Steinway & Sons.

George Assouad: I was recently visiting Tyson’s Corner Center for the second time. I have always been interested in high end pianos, but never had an opportunity to explore them in person given my travel schedule for work. Steinway needs little to no introduction. Growing up in Brooklyn, by Astoria Queens, I have had the opportunity to see the original Steinway location many years ago. The service there was superb and have to say, after many years not walking into a Steinway location, Tyson’s Steinway has continued the tradition of excellence. When walking into the store I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff, which later I learned, they’re not just customer service, they are piano specialists with many years of product / industry experience and actually understand and are talented pianists. The staff prides themselves on craftsmanship and art that makes a Steinway, a Steinway. Given my lack of knowledge in this field (but my desire to own one), I was impressed to learn about the new product line. Shocked to see / learn how Steinway has developed technology to meet originality, by the means of the Spirio. Irina, one of the sales specialist sat me down and showed me how the Spirio functions and how it can be seamlessly operated, even for someone with my limited knowledge of pianos. I was able to also sit down and attempt to play with no pressure and stress of doing so. Overall, the Tyson’s Steinway sales specialist truly made my experience stress free, and educational. I look forward to my next welcomed visit and look forward to the “experience” of being at Steinway.
Response: Thank you for the very kind words. This is exactly the kind of experience we hope all of our clients enjoy. We will continue to work hard to keep up Steinway's high standards.

Rick Jones Pianos: what do users think?

Cindi Mclean: We have no experience with pianos but wanted to buy one for our grandchildren. Rick spent time teaching us the difference between the pianos and helped us decide which piano would fit our needs. He was honest and there was no pressure to buy. The piano sounds great in our home and it arrived in perfect condition.
Response: Thank you Cindi for your business and kind words. It's great to know you're pleased with your piano and the buying experience.

Hankster64: I would like to preface with a short background on how we came to do business with Rick Jones Pianos. My wife and I love to listen to piano music and she has wanted a player style piano for many years. We always assumed that they would be too expensive. Forward to May 2021 when she found Rick Jones Pianos. They had a very nice Yamaha Disklavier upright that was within our budget. We made contact with Paul and setup an appointment. Sofie placed a hold on the piano for us. Rick personally met us and gave us an in-depth demonstration. We happened to catch the Memorial Day sale and that made it even better. Sofie handled the transaction and we where happy Yamaha piano owners! The delivery was smooth and professional. We have been listening to our piano almost daily. We discovered an iPhone app that allows you to stream music directly to the piano. We highly recommend Rick Jones Pianos! If your in the market make them your first and only stop! Hank and Carolyn
Response: Thank you Hank and Carolyn for your business and excellent review. We really appreciate it!

Aun Kei Hong: This was really pleasant experience. They allow you to test out any piano on the floor. And the whole purchase to delivery process was very smooth and easy.
Response: Thank you for your business! We're so glad you had a positive experience!

Matt Chingos: I had an excellent experience buying a grand piano from Rick Jones Pianos. I researched a number of used piano stores in the DC metro area and Rick Jones had by far the best reputation. I made an appointment and ended up staying for 3 hours playing nearly all of the grand pianos because no one had an appointment after me. The staff were friendly and available to answer questions but never put any pressure on me to make a purchase. I came back a week later with my wife and again spent 2-3 hours making sure we had found the right piano for us. In between visits, I called another piano store in the area that had a similar piano for sale just to compare price (Rick Jones posts all his prices on his website; I had to call the other store for this information), and Rick's price was more than 10% lower. Once we finalized our decision, I called and placed the order over the phone (the store had kindly placed the piano on hold for us for 24 hours to make sure no one else bought it while we were deciding). The piano was delivered (included in price) and set up in our living room within 10 days of the purchase. The delivery crew was professional and did a flawless job. About a week or two after delivery, one of the dampers was sticking slightly (a normal result of the piano adjusting to its new environment). I called Rick Jones on a Saturday at 10am and a technician was at my home an hour later. Problem solved and amazing service! Highly recommend Rick Jones Pianos! Their 10-year warranty and lifetime upgrade policies both gave us a lot of confidence that our significant investment in a grand piano would be protected.
Response: Thank you Matt for your business, and for taking the time to write such a glowing review. It is always our hope that every customer is as pleased with our pianos and customer service as you are, but rarely does anyone take the time to write a review as thorough and comprehensive as yours. Thanks again.

Mike DiSalvo: Very large selection of quality used pianos and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would buy from them.
Response: Mike Thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts about our company. It made my day. Best regards Rick

Michael O'Shaughnessy: I am extremely impressed by Rick Jones Pianos. We first purchased our piano in 2010, and were thrilled with their service, quality, and pricing at the time. Ten years later, when we moved from VA, we needed to find a new home for our piano. Fortunately, we decided to put it on consignment with Rick Jones. Even during a global pandemic, they picked it up immediately, and promised they would keep us posted. True to their word, several months later we received notice that the piano sold, and they were sending a generous check. It is reassuring to know there are truly honest and reputable companies out there. This is a trustworthy company that sells products that will hold their value. Go with Rick Jones!
Response: Thank you Michael for your excellent review! We're glad you had such a good experience.

Debra Principi: We purchased a beautiful grand piano from Rick late last year for a house we renovated in Easton, Maryland. We put the house on the market, sold it the first day WITH the piano! Rick and his team were amazing to work with and we will definitely purchase from him again!
Response: Thank you Debra! We look forward to working with you again in the future.

Tim Glazewski: Rick Jones has an impressive selection of quality, reasonably priced used pianos, and their sales people are passionate musicians. They’re more interested in helping you find the right piano to meet your needs than getting you out the door with more piano than you need. We bought a beautiful grand piano. The experience was great from browsing to delivery. We’d definitely give them the highest recommendation.
Response: Thank you Tim. We really appreciate your business and excellent review!

Cindy Currle: After a move from Virginia to Florida I traded in the piano I bought from Rick Jones six years ago and upgraded. My piano (purchased sight unseen) was delivered to Florida yesterday. It is gorgeous and sounds absolutely beautiful. I worked with Rick Jones Piano from their website, then email and over the phone and am extremely impressed with the piano and the service I received.
Response: Thank you for your trust and repeat business, and for taking the time to write this excellent review. We're really glad you're pleased with your piano and the entire experience.

Sangi Colney: You don’t have to keep up with the Jones when u are at Rick Jones Piano, You are treated like the Jones! Rick and his staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Their customer service exceeded all my expectations.
Response: Thank you Sangi for your kind words and good business. It was a pleasure to help you choose a piano.

PianoCraft: what do users think?

Michael Ginnelly: Just purchased a Grotrian piano from PianoCraft. I couldn't be happier. The experience was tremendous. I called PianoCraft describing what I was looking for ... a small to mid sized Grotrian Grand Piano. The owner Keith briefly described the Grotrian along with similar class brands and sizes. After understanding exactly what I was looking for on that first call Keith was able to secure one within days from the Grotrian factory. He provided updates and shared pictures/videos of the piano when it arrived in his showroom. He was professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with on every call as was his staff. He quickly turned the piano around with tuning, adding a player component, etc. and had it delivered quickly. The delivery was perfect too. The piano was securely packaged. The delivery movers made a special delivery date around my schedule. And the delivery team was efficient and personable. They also were very patient with any last minute rearranging I wanted to make for the piano room. I couldn't imagine a better experience. In summary ... the service was 5 star, the reliabiability was 5 star, the knowledge was 5 star, the professionalism was 5 star, the delivery was 5 star and the ease of doing business was 5 star. So, if you are interested in buying a piano I strongly recommend contacting PianoCraft first to be your provider. You will be happy with your choice.
Response: Thank you very much for your kind words! We are so happy that everything worked out so well.

Norm Long: If you are in the market for a piano, read this review before you make a purchase. My wife and I have been dealing with PianoCraft since the late 90’s when we purchased our first new Mason & Hamlin Model A from Shaun. Some 20 plus years later that same piano today is worth more than twice what we paid for it new—a testimony to the fine instruments PianoCraft handles. Also, I cannot say enough about the support that PianoCraft has provided throughout the years with tuning and minor repairs-always professionally done, and at a fair price. About one month ago, we were looking for a piano for our home in Florida. We made an appointment with PianoCraft and met with them. Shaun gave us a tour of the entire facility and explained the rebuild process and showed us the work in progress on a piano owned by the family of a world-renowned composer. After getting the tour of the rebuild shop and getting answers to some questions, I now understand why the Smithsonian and the Kennedy Center use PianoCraft to rebuild their pianos-probably the best rebuild shop in the United States! So, after the tour we were shown some pianos that fit the profile of what we were in the market for, and ended purchasing not one but two incredible pianos that Shaun had available. One is an incredible Steingraeber, the other a wonderful Grotrian. We are elated with our purchases and as expected, PianoCraft has delivered without a flaw. If you are in the market for a piano, you should not purchase without first consulting with PianoCraft! They handle the finest pianos made in the world!
Response: Thank you so much for the review and for being such a great client! You are going to love your new pianos!

Organist One: I have been the pianist and organist at Providence Presbyterian Church for 22 years. In addition to church staff musician duties, I was deeply involved with Music and Arts at Providence, a church supported program that brought four to five musical events to our performance space each year. We realized that we needed to upgrade our piano to continue to attract quality groups to our music series. PianoCraft provided the answer. They arranged for us to bring our church music staff and other members of our board to their Maryland facility. We were treated to a complete tour of their restoration process and I had the opportunity to test and evaluate a number of their best concert pianos. Upon Shaun Tirrell’s recommendation, we selected an Estonia Model 274 (9’) concert grand. We are very pleased with the Estonia and highly recommend Shaun Tirrell and PianoCraft of Gaithersburg." Five stars for PianoCraft!!!!
Response: Thank you very much for your comments. Enjoy your wonderful new piano!

Marcia Daft: If you want to purchase an instrument that's just right for you, there's nothing like buying a piano from a real artist. Shaun Tirrell at PianoCraft is a concert pianist who can clearly explain and play for you the unique qualities of each instrument - and they have a wide range of glorious instruments in their showroom, including Steingrabers. Before going to Pianocraft I was so discouraged by Steinway and other dealerships where the owners and salespeople knew absolutely nothing about music or even about pianos. If you're looking for a real musical and learning experience, go where the artists go.
Response: Thank you so much for your very nice comments and for being a great client!

Robert Dutton: I was Board Chairman for Music and Arts at Providence for 12 years. In that capacity I had the pleasure of working with Jane Kaye who's review is posted here. I am in complete agreement with her positions and would add two thigs. First, the fact that PianoCraft took us as a group, not as individuals, and led us through the entire selection process was amazing. Second, to observe Jane and Shaun work together in the selection process was an honor. Our church sanctuary has fantastic acoustics and prefers a piano with power. We were able to observe the power of the Estonia and thus Shaun's recommendation and our selection. We, as a group, highly recommend PianoCraft. Bob Dutton
Response: Thank you so much for your comments. Enjoy your wonderful piano!

Dana Beyer: Keith leads a remarkable team. During the pandemic they refurbished my 1916 Steinway M from top to bottom, and then upgraded it electronically with the PianoDisc system. My son received the delivery last Friday, and and says the sound is superb. There's the player function, a silencer to practice when the kids are asleep, and a MIDI recorder for his compositions. And his brother also managed to purchase a Steingraber baby grand for his apartment in California, and he thinks that one sounds even better than the Steinway.
Response: Thanks so much for the review and especially the support! It was truly our pleasure to work with you and your family.

Sandeep Dwivedi: I had Noah, from PianoCraft service my piano. I am very happy with the service he provided. He paid attention to every little detail, took time to tune and was a thorough professional. Highly recommend him !
Response: Thank you for your comment on PianoCraft's service! It is much appreciated.

Kenneth Luurs: My job involved a fair amount of travel and when visiting new cities, i always made it a point to visit the local piano stores. I had recently bought a new Steinway B grand piano - but when I saw and heard what PianoCraft did with pianos, I knew I had to have one even though it meant selling a perfectly good piano as PianoCraft gave me a great piano. Even my piano technician who worked for a Steinway dealer and who regularly did technical work for world class artists knew this piano was something special and said so. My PianoCraft Steinway B makes me a better pianist. I feel like I play and sound better than I really am thanks to this wonderful piano. Thanks to the fine folks at PianoCraft.
Response: Thank you very much!

sgisela: After deciding to start my search for a grand piano, several people told me that PianoCraft was a place I needed to visit. And after going to many piano dealers in the area, I can say that while the DC area has many good piano stores, PianoCraft is truly special! PianoCraft clearly takes great pride in its work and its instruments, and with good reason. Perhaps especially for amateurs like me who enter the shopping process with little understanding of the piano landscape, the ability to meet pianos at their best really allows the player to understand the different characteristics and personalities of the pianos (and helped me to understand what most spoke to me). Their appointment-only policy definitely helps with this (although these days, this kind of policy seems pretty universal). They have an excellent selection of new, rebuilt, and pre-owned American, European, and Asian pianos that really showcase different piano characteristics. Some customer service standouts: When I decided to consider slightly bigger pianos than I originally had in mind, they delivered a floor template to my home (which proved very helpful in allaying my family’s concerns about size). And when I did make my decision to buy a beautiful ESTONIA L210, they had the piano delivered 4 days later. I look forward to many happy years with my new piano!
Response: Thank you very much! It was our pleasure to work with you!

nathan sigel: To preface this review, there was a billing dispute that was resolved thanks to the owner, Keith. Finding any good piano technician is a struggle, and I was delighted to find such quality work from PianoCraft. I have a reconstructed Mason and Hamlin that needed a tuning, pitch raise, and a few physical repairs. The technician that assisted me was beyond knowledgeable in her assessment of the work that needed to be done on the piano. She successfully tuned the upper octave of the piano (which had been out of tune for months) and replaced and fixed a few issues with the piano's key covers. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the work, and also the receptiveness of the business to questions and concerns regarding billing. Know that you will be in good hands at PianoCraft!
Response: Thank you for the review!

Guitar Center: what do users think?

Irish Car Bomb: This particular store is an embarrassment to the music community, and Guitar Center alike. Everything is cluttered, off shelves, out of place. The floors are absolutely filthy. There are broken instruments just laying around. There are items out of packages. You can tell staff doesn’t take pride in their store. I visit guitar centers around the country frequently, as I’m represented by a pro rep, via guitar center professional. I am a drummer, so I will include the photos I took of this establishment in my area only, I didn’t venture into the other areas as they were just as bad from afar. The used selection is just in piles all over the floor. Who would want to spend money here? The employees seem nice when you’re paying but there was absolutely no engagement with me until I was at the counter.

Sahil A: I would give this Guitar Center 0 stars if I could. Ben and all the other employees seem nice over the phone but in person they give you smart answers especially Ben, when you ask about the return policy Ben gets very offended. I asked for the return policy cause I was buying a used controller without it being tested. Ben then says if your gonna return it then don’t buy it, then why the hell do u guys have a return policy. Never shopping at this store again and I don’t recommend it to anyone!
Response: Hello Sahil, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I would like to apologize, we want our customers to not only feel comfortable in our store, but also receive the assistance they need so we take instances like this very seriously. I would like to get this to a member of management for them to look into and reach back out to you to address. Please email your preferred method of contact to YourVoice@GuitarCenter.com and we can have them reach out.

Chris Scuderi: Warning. This guitar center is selling used items as new. Purchased 2 “new” KRK 8 inch studio monitors at almost $300 each. When grabbing them off the shelf I noticed one of them looked like the box was retaped. I asked if this unit was used and the salesman Zack assured me it wasn’t. When I got home (after 2 hour round trip) the unit that I thought was opened was certainly opened because the power cable was missing. I immediately called the store and the manager was prompt to tell me he would over night the power cord. I raised my concern about the item being used and he assured me it wasn’t. Well, it’s used. There is a white scuff on bottom left (like it was hit on a white wall) and there are what appears to be soda that has dried on bottom. Now I get to spend another 2 hours swapping out this unit with a new one. A complete waste of my time and money.

Michael Fortenberry: Great location close to a lot of attractions and other shopping areas. They have a wonderful selection of music equipment bass, electric, and acoustic guitars. I think what a lot of people don’t know is Guitar Center also has a great selections of equipment keyboards, sound, lighting and turntable equipment. The staff here is superb, helpful and provided a lot of great recommendations I didn’t initially considered. I highly recommend this location to anyone passing through this area or are visiting.

Quentin Workman: After a mixup in shipping, and UPS losing my guitar, I was refunded for the price of mine and sent a new one on them. They are a great company that I will continue to frequent!
Response: Thank you for your feedback. We really appreciate your comments and are glad to hear you were pleased with the service you received.

Hasan ibn-Sabah: Decent stock, helpful and friendly employees who seem to like what they do. Minus 9ne star for the horrible parking lot situation.
Response: Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate your time and letting us know about your experience Please let us know if we can ever be of any service in the future. Thanks again!

Ken Pierce: I bought a new Álvarez guitar is it place so good in the Customer satisfaction is excellent I love shopping at this place
Response: Thanks for the review!

Travis Roland: I brought my martin custom X guitar here to have the bridge re glued down, and have a neck adjustment. My first issue was that i was told the total cost was going to be 150$ which included putting elixer strings back on. When i went to pick up the guitar I was charged extra for strings and they didnt put elixers back on. Not too big of a deal to me. When I got home and proceeded to inspect the repair I was immediately shocked by the lack of attention to detail, the bridge was crooked and not flush against the body. I returned the guitar to have this corrected, when I went to pick it up, I inspected it in the store, there was glue all around the bridge and looked even worse than the first time! I spoke with Steven H. Who conducted the repair and he said he would address the issue. Im thinking third time is a charm, wrong! I picked it up 20 minutes ago and it still looks like garbage. At this point my guitar has spent almost 3 weeks at guitar center and I have lost all patience so I brought the guitar home.

MOHAMMED DALOWAR HOSSAIN: This an amazing place to buy a guitar and necessity of the music world instrument

She Fancy: These folks are just AWESOME. The young lady (the only young lady- pardon me for being absent minded) educated me on my desired purchase and went above and beyond to select the very best electric drum set available. She helped me prank surprise my husband with the drum set for his bday. She purchased balloons for him at zero cost to me. I can’t say enough. Extremely satisfied with the value AND service.

Jasons Music Center: what do users think?

Joseph Vendemia: Mason and Tom are the Men!!! They are hooking me up with a pickup for my Fender Mandolin!!! Getting it installed as we speak!!! I love you both like your my brothers!!! Thank you for your assistance and kindness!!!! I bought my first Martin guitar from the Jason’s store on Ritchie hwy!! Keep on keeping on to the whole shop!!!!

James Prunty: My beautiful Kawai CS 10 just got exceptional warranty service and I wanted all of you considering a purchase from Jasons to know that Kawai extends an exceptional warranty and takes care of your piano.
Response: We appreciate your feedback. Great customer service is our goal.

Avi Abasov: We bought a Kawai CN37 this week from Jason's. This place is great! We had a great service experience with Tom who showcased the Kawai line with high professionalism, answered every question with patience and explained everything to me and my wife to make the purchase feel right. I was highly impressed with his abilities and kindness. The store is also great, a big selection of pianos and knowledgeable employees to aid. I highly recommend Jason's for all your piano needs!
Response: Thanks for trusting us with all your piano needs, Avi! I'm thrilled you guys felt well taken care of when you came in. I'm assuming your Kawai CN37 is still singing beautifully. Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you! -Steve. C, Owner

Elizabeth Massey: I recently (Sep 2021) walked into Jason’s Music Center on an exploratory visit in my quest to buy an acoustic piano that would facilitate musical power for me and guests in my home, and a digital piano that would facilitate creativity with technology for the next generation in today’s musical world. Steve Cohen met me at the door, then patiently listened and helped guide me through a 3-visit process of deciding what would best meet my goals. My pianos were delivered yesterday by a careful and personable crew. I am now thoroughly enjoying the sound and feel of this rich, brilliant and powerful Baldwin (even before the first tuning!), and delighting in the fun possibilities of jamming and arranging and creating with younger players and the Kawai digital piano. The expertise and experience of Steve and the staff at Jason’s were a comfortable mix of personable and professional, and I feel confident that they will also help me manage the ongoing care and maintenance of these fine instruments. I highly recommend Jason’s Music Center for sensitive guidance through any musical instrument selection process.
Response: Thanks Beth. We always try to match the "right" piano to each and every shopper.

Keith Wheeles: Steve was a wonderful resource in helping me find my dream piano. He was observant of my preferences, was able to suggest most likely matches, and made it convenient and comfortable for me to play and test each of them to my satisfaction. Smooth and pleasant process with terrific outcome. Highly recommend.
Response: Thanks Keith. We feel like "matchmakers".....marrying our customer to the best instrument for them.

Gary Gilpin: From my 1st phone call to Jason's to see if they had a particular piano in stock, I knew Steve was a great guy and it would be a pleasure to do business with him. He did indeed have the piano. I went, I played it, he left us alone and came back to check in on us but never was there any pressure to buy. And the man has some beautiful inventory! I purchased the piano and I felt like I just wanted to hang out with Steve at the store for the rest of the afternoon. A pleasure indeed. I highly recommend you visit Jason's.
Response: Thanks Gary. We do everything we can to make piano shopping a pleasant experience.

Sung Park: The first upgrade after the initial purchase. Steve was very helpful to select piano. My initial purchase was 2019 and I wanted upgrade to better one for my family. Yes he is friendly and helpful as other mentioned. Yes, this is one of the best option if you want to purchase piano and upgrade gradually as time goes instead of purchase new one.
Response: Thank you Sung. We are committed to helping to make the piano shopping experience enjoyable and leading to the right piano for your family's needs.

Alison: Bought a Kawai Novus10 this past week, and it is incredible! I was in the market for a piano that would feel and sound like the grand piano that I learned on, but I needed to fit into my small city apartment. Steve was very knowledgeable and super helpful regarding the selection of pianos (acoustic, digital, and hybrid) and how each mechanism worked. He was also flexible with pricing and was always keeping my budget in mind. Steve made the whole purchasing experience and moving experience very easy and professional. I highly recommend working with Steve and Jason's Music for finding your dream piano!
Response: Hi Alison. I'm really glad you had a great experience. Our goal is that everyone who visits us leaves as satisfied as you!

Jillian Mills: We’ve been renting instruments for our kids for the last 3 years and have had the absolute best customer service - from switching to different size violins, minor repairs and switching from strings to woodwind, they are always a joy to work with. When the COVID shut down happened, we were uncertain about how we’d handle the $60 monthly rental fee for 2 instruments - especially since the kids weren’t getting lessons in school. When I called to find out what they were doing, Jason’s Music extended 6 months of free rentals - for everyone. Giving all of those children access to their instruments during such a difficult time for any small business is a gift I will never forget. This company is truly and inspiration when it comes to being reliable and supportive of their community here in Anne Arundel County and they have our business for life.
Response: Thank you Julian for you kind words. We look forward to the time, soon, when schools will be open, both fully and safely. Until then, we'll do our best to support our community.

Marsha Hollar: Steve was a total pleasure to work with in the purchase of our new Kawai grand piano! We had been searching since the summer exploring both the used and new market for a Kawai trying to marry our budget with our needs and desires. Once we decided on a piano, Steve was able to make the magic happen so we could bring it home! This included trading in our baby grand. As our piano wasn’t in stock, Steve went out of his way to locate one for us. There was a wait for the next shipment and the process of customs, but it was so worth it! It has a beautiful, rich, mellow sound! We are looking forward to the decades that this piano will be used! Today alone, it’s been used almost nonstop since it’s arrival! Also, the piano movers were so professional and really took care of each piano during take down and set up. Thank you again Steve!
Response: While we were optimizing your piano in preparation for delivery we realized that it had exceptional tone. So glad you are pleased!

Cunningham Piano Company: what do users think?

Sherry T: A little over a year ago, we moved my 90 year old Estey baby grand from the dry West Coast to the humid East Coast. Several piano companies tried to tell me my elderly piano would or did need a rebuild. I called Cunningham Piano on a friend's recommendation. They gave me wise advice. Told me not to let anyone mess with the piano until it arrived in our new home and spent time acclimating. They even recommended a top notch piano moving company. We followed their advice. The movers were outstanding. After several months, a qualified technician inspected the piano and pronounced it healthy. Cunningham saved us many thousands of dollars. We appreciated dealing with a knowledgable company that seems to value the customer over the dollar.
Response: We are always happy to help a new friend make the best decisions Sherry. Thank you for the review and we look forward to helping you keep your piano nice and healthy.

V S: Mr. Hugh Sung is an outstanding salesperson at Cunningham Piano. I greatly benefitted from his technical expertise, his availability and also from watching his superbly crafted and highly informative YouTube video. Thanks much, Hugh.
Response: Thank you V S for the kind words. Yes, Hugh is passionate about helping others experience his own love of making music. So happy you chose Cunningham Piano Company. Enjoy your piano!

cindy: We stumbled upon Cunningham when my son was looking to purchace a used organ. From the moment we contacted them to the final delivery, we were treated like family. Chuck invited us to come play the one we were interested in, gave us a tour of the factory and had the organ delivered professionally and promtly. We could not be happier with Cunningham, the folks that work there and our new (to us) organ!! Thank you for making this kid's dreams come true :)
Response: cindy - we are so happy to have you as a member of our family. We wish you many years of enjoyment with the organ. When you have the chance, please visit our King of Prussia or Cherry Hill, NJ locations for a lot more fun!

Owen Murphy: Cunningham is a shining example of a company that understands how to treat a customer. They sell great products, but beyond that, they provide customers with an experience. My wife and I took our kids, 8 and 5, to look at a specific piano we were interested and knew they had one in stock. We were greeted by Rich and he first gave us a tour of the factory. All the while, he shared the history of the business and gave us a detailed look into the world of pianos. It felt like a field trip for my kids and they could not have been more excited. In the end we bought the piano we wanted from Rich, not because it was the best price (though it happened to be), but because he gave us an experience that you just don't get from many businesses these days. It's great to see a business like Cunningham continue to thrive in a time when so many businesses have become so impersonal. I would encourage anyone interested in a piano to meet with Rich as I'm sure you'll have an incredible experience like mine.

Nan Feyler: I had a wonderful experience purchasing a used Yamaha piano at Cunningham’s at a very fair price . I love playing it. Rich Glassini the co-owner was very helpful. Delivering was prompt and professional. If you are interested in a used or new piano go to Cunningham’s
Response: Oh Nan! We love it when a family finds their “forever piano” and becomes part of our family. We just know you will enjoy your piano for many many years! Thank you for your kind words and we hope to see you again soon.

George Fiore: For many years, Cunningham Piano Co. has been a trusted leader in the music industry. Whether you're purchasing a new or used piano, or having an old family heirloom rebuilt, Cunningham Piano is the place to go. The team at Cunningham piano Lead by Rich and Tim, are customer service oriented. They will literally go out of their way to educate and provide the customer with the best instrument to meet their needs. So I, as a piano technician, not only do I refer my clients to Cunningham, I am also a very satisfied Cunningham customer.
Response: Thanks so much George!

G. E.: Today we had a wonderful treat, When one of the owners of Cunningham Piano we did meet! Rich Galassini, a wonderful guy for sure Gave us an amazing factory tour! He explained the makings of the piano and the importance of it's grade, We watched as repairs to grand pianos were made! His sense of humor sure added to our good time, His musical talent was sublime! Do ray mi fa so la ti....... We watched the workings of every key! So informative and hands-on, we loved every bit, Cunningham Piano -- we surely recommend it!!! Thank you Rich!
Response: Hahaha! Great review and spot on! Thanks so much.

Davey Hiester: I had a wonderful experience working with Cunningham Piano. Rich Galassini, one of the owners, worked with me to find the perfect instrument, both for what I needed as a pianist and what I could buy with my budget. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I did not feel rushed or pressured to make a decision immediately. At Cunningham they took me seriously and really worked with me, rather than being exclusively interested in the sale, like some other piano dealers are. Rich gave me good advice about selecting a piano and gave me the opportunity to play for hours while I made this important decision. I finally decided on an American handmade Charles M. Walter upright piano, a brand I did not see at other piano showrooms I visited. If you are looking to buy a piano, I would highly recommend Cunningham Piano in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. They have a great selection of pianos and a very knowledgeable and friendly team of piano professionals. I am very happy with my experience at Cunningham Piano. While I was there, singers from The Delaware Valley Opera Company were rehearsing. It is a welcoming place for musicians, and they have the history of excellence, expertise and commitment to the piano which gives me complete confidence that I made the right choice.

VA VA: Dear Sir/Madam: I'd like to compliment one of your employees, Hugh Sung, for the excellent service and assistance he provided me with purchasing new Yamaha CLP-695GP piano. Mr. Sung helped me to choose this great instrument and explained all features that are available. He kept me up to date with order and delivery information and followed up after piano was delivered. Also, huge thank you to people who delivered this instrument to my house. They acted very professionally, carefully brought piano to my house and assembled it. Such a commitment to great customer service is to be commended. Thank you All working for Cunningham Piano Company!

Alex Kranjec: Just had a Cunningham Upright delivered. The whole experience was excellent. I won't mention names, but my wife and I visited another piano retailer in our area and had a very different experience. A few years back we visited Cunningham, took the factory tour and looked at a few pianos. It wasn't affordable for us at the time. However, this was the beginning of a relationship with Peter and Cunningham Piano. The factory tour is pretty cool by the way. Fast forward almost three years and I walk in to Cunningham Piano and immediately Peter recognizes me and remembered my first AND last name. We only visited once, and exchanged emails a few times. I was impressed! So this time we set out for an intermediate level upright piano. We looked at some Essex and Boston products but loved the Cunningham Piano at over $1,000 less! The piano played better and sounded really good. They also had the option of getting a hand rubbed satin finish, which we totally went with. The finish looks awesome! That was something we couldn't get in the Essex at our price range. While the piano is mass produced, they take care to make sure everything is done properly and they do a great job finishing the job up at the factory and getting the piano ready for delivery. For the price it can't be beat! Plus, we love that in some way we have a piece of Philadelphia history. Great company and great experience. No rush to purchase, they walk away and let you play. All around great company and great piano. We look forward to being part of the Cunningham family for years to come!

Foxes Music Co.: what do users think?

Freddie Dunn: First rate old-school music store. Foxes has all of your music and music education needs, equipment, accessories, method books, and scores. I'm glad a store like this exists nearby. They have a tremendous inventory of folios, scores, books and sheet music for anyone from beginner to seasoned pro. They rent instruments at reasonable rates. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Stores like this are a treasure!

Vassilios Vassiliadis-Laouto Lobby: Fantastic local music store. Customer service is awesome and the manager Dave Belazis always goes above and beyond to help you get the best deal. They also offer musical classes and sell any type of musical instrument, accessories and equipment. I rather support this nice store than other online or other real music shops.

Dale Dean: Extremely professional service allowed me to find the right edition of sheet music that I wanted. And we conferred back and forth by text messages before I even entered the store to pick up the edition. Outstanding and responsive treatment.

Heather Paul: Went looking for a guitar for my bf's birthday; I know nothing about music or guitar shopping, but they helped me pick one out, talked me through pros and cons of each, played samples for me to hear the sound, even tossed in a free pack of strings! And my bf loved the guitar <3 Highly highly HIGHLY recommend

T King: Very cool old school music shop, lotta different instruments, sheet music etc. Not sure how competitive prices on guitar amps are. Fun to browse. Looks like the do lessons and repairs, too.

Eric Henri: Great for lessons, service and equipment. They can order what they don't have in stock. Also love to look at the music books!

Billy Billy: Why you got to be so weird with your comments every time I come in the store with my children. I get that your band geeks or something, but don’t be so creepy and learn how to interact with humans. @Bernard and others need to stop with weird offhand remarks to customers and children in the store. No one needs it and we will take personal insult next time.

Spot Wms: Foxes Music Co has one of the largest selection of music books for all instruments and ALL learning levels. Nice novelty items (socks, tote bags, mouse pads and etc). Music books are competitively priced. Foxes Music Co offers other services as well (lessons, instruments rental/sales). I'm a beginning adult piano player (learned to read music in high school band class). The Essential Elements Piano Theory seems to be the perfect purchase for my current knowledge and playing ability. A family member is learning music also, so I'll be able to pass the music books along! I purchased a lot of music books because I'm trying to discover what works best for my independent learning (supllemented w/ YOUTUBE videos).

aria moshrefi: Came in just to exchange the rental violin for my son. Brian A was so helpful. He showed us the problem was was not the size of the violin but the locations of the tape was not correct. Excellent free assistance by such a nice employee Thank you you so much !

Christine Hill: I went to Foxes music just to come see and admire the store cause of all the instruments. It was my first time going there and usually i’m a anxious mess kind of a person. I was immediately greated by good ol Dave! (Welcoming and friendly) He showed me some books, amps, intruments, etc. demoed some pedals. Not once was there a pressure to buy or anything which was super nice! No sales pitch and I thoroughly appreciated that. I saw this mustang and he showed it to me and all was history! I walked out with a slammin deal and stand in top of that! Thanks so much Dave! Will definitely be coming back!
Response: Thanks for the review! We value your opinion and look forward to working with you again. See you soon!

Kramer’s Piano Shop: what do users think?

Sandra Moreno: Thank you for helping us with the piano tuning! Wonderfully done, very nice service and excellent customer service!

Mary Ford-Naill: You know a company is great when you have been using them for over 30 years. Many years ago, I purchased a beautifully restored piano from Kramer's and my family is still enjoying it today! Also, I have used Kramer's Piano Shop to move my piano several times (it's quite heavy) and I have hired the company for regular tunings. Kramer's Piano Shop provides great service and I recommend them highly!

Tim Bouis: Excellent piano shop! Great selection of grands, baby grands, uprights and even digitals & synths! Full-service means they tune, deliver, service and restore. Also sign up for lessons! Check out their guitars, ukelales, extensive sheet music & book collection and lots of gift/accessory possibilities. Incredibly nice and helpful staff!

Michael Black: We visited this restaurant after training at work. They accommodated all 10 of us without a reservation and seated us in a private area of the restaurant. The atmosphere is great, with the large fireplace cheese bar etc. The food is responsibly priced and prepared very well. I will return on my next visit to NH.

Dora Z: Wonderful Customer Service and excellent results! I have been using Kramer's Piano Shop to tune my piano for I don't know how long, at least 10 to 12 years or more. They are timely, the price is extremely fair and no matter who comes they always do a fantastic job. i have to give a shout out to Marshall, he is wonderful. I trust him so much that if I'm not home to be there at the time of the tuning service I can leave a key or tell the babysitter to let him in. Thank you Kramer's Piano Shop, I will continute to be a loyal customer for as long as I live in your service area! A+!

Jodi Oliver: Kramer’s Piano Shop has provided me excellent service over the years. They have been courteous, prompt (or called if there was an issue and they were running behind) and have made recommendations for the care and longevity of my piano. I would highly recommend them. HIGHLY. They do great work. Good people.

Jean Zampino: We have used Kramer's for tuning our pianos for many years and have always been very satisfied. They arrive on time and are always polite and very friendly. We have also bought several pianos from Kramer's for our church and for our personal use, have found their prices to be fair, and they stand behind their sales. They have also moved several of our pianos and have been very careful. We would highly recommend Kramer's for any piano services.

Jocelyn Rowe: I have been working with Kramer Piano for 7 years -- ever since I was gifted with a gently used Baldwin piano. Kramer's has been the tuner of this piano prior to my ownership so that was a huge plus in purchasing this piano from them. Their tuning and recommendations are always spot on. Their customer service on all fronts is great. They really know their pianos and what is needed to keep a piano in tip top shape.

Jeannette Hill: We have been dealing with Kramer's Piano for many years and have always been pleased with their service and professionalism. We have had them tune pianos and move a piano, and we bought a new piano from them. Everyone we have dealt with there has been pleasant and courteous. We highly recommend them for all your piano needs!

Cathy Inman: Kramer’s is the best. My daughter used to play piano competitively and has played for over 20 years. We have always had Kramer’s tune our piano. Having two adult children and a husband that have good ears for music and know when it is out of tune, I wouldn’t have anyone else. Kramer’s has done some rebuilding on our piano in their shop, too. My son plays music for a living and we have bought a several other musical instruments through Kramer’s. He is currently working with them to obtain a digital piano for the church where he is the music worship leader. They always work with you and are very accommodating and are good honest people.

Downtown Piano Works: what do users think?

Sun Shine: I had a great experience with Dan and Theresa at Downtown Piano Works. They are very helpful for buying Piano. I recommend to buy only from them! I searched piano from many websites and Dan gave me the best price with free shipping and free assembly, that was wonderful experience! I am so happy I listened to my friend to buy a piano from them! So excited and happy :) The attached pictures are "Rosewood Piano" which I received it yesterday. It was easy and comfortable buying piano from that store with no worry at all.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. It was our pleasure helping you find the right piano. Enjoy your new Yamaha Clavinova, and thanks for allowing Downtown Piano Works to earn your business.

Simona Balint: We couldn’t recommend Dan and Downtown Piano more!! We were looking for a good piano for our daughters and the whole experience of trying out more pianos in the shop and the complex and professional advice received from Dan, everything was fantastic! Dan even patiently explained and made a demonstration about how the mechanism works in upright and acoustic pianos. He was very helpful every step of our piano purchase experience and even managed to deliver us the piano earlier than we initially agreed on. First class service! Highly recommend Downtown Piano!
Response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We were so pleased to make the birthday suprise work for you guys. Enjoy your new Yamaha GB1K baby grand piano. Thanks for allowing Downtown Piano Works to earn your business.

Bonita Robinson: Dan and Theresa are great! This is the second piano I purchased from them. In 2018 they had a used Pearl River baby grand. I loved it. But recently I wanted to upgrade and just purchased a Yamaha Grand. They gave me an UNBELIEVABLE trade up value. I did a price comparison and they could not be beaten. The experience was first class. Delivery was quick, and I received a follow up call. Great people! Great business. Highly recommend!
Response: Thanks so much for your kind words! We always love repeat customers, and our full price trade-up to grand piano is very popular. Enjoy your new Yamaha grand piano, and thank you for trusting us with your business once again.

Nick Filippakis: We had a great experience purchasing a Yamaha piano from Downtown Piano Works in April 2022 for our daughter. Dan and his wife were extremely helpful with no sales pressure and thoroughly explained the models, buying process, and delivery. They worked with us to find the exact piano we were looking for and delivered on time with no issues. We’d definitely recommend Downtown Piano Works for anyone looking to buy a Yamaha and wanting a straightforward process from an established business with a strong reputation.
Response: Thanks so much for your kind words. It was our pleasure helping you select a piano, and just great timing that we had a white polish Yamaha B-3. Enjoy, and thanks for allowing Downtown Piano Works to earn your business.

Jessica Ton: Dan was a pleasure to work with! I knew I wanted to purchase a piano from a small business, and Dan was extremely knowledgeable and approachable and was willing to answer questions via text about the piano, ordering process, etc. Although the piano was significantly delayed due to supply chain issues, it was well worth the wait. I got a Yamaha Clavinova CLP-765GP, it’s a digital baby grand with an even smaller footprint than a regular baby grand. Fits really well into our living room. My only suggestion thus far is to consider getting a longer piano bench, since this one isn’t long enough to fit two people. The Apollo piano movers were professional, punctual, and assembled the piano in 15 minutes. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase so far! Thanks Dan!
Response: Thank you for your amazing review, as well as your patience during the pandemic delays. It was a pleasure working with you. Thanks again for allowing Downtown Piano Works to earn your business.

Elease Layman: Dan and Theresa at Downtown Piano Works are wonderful! They let me take my time and ask all my questions; I did not feel hurried at all. They are very knowledgeable and had great follow-up. The piano is just what we wanted and fits perfectly in the small space we have for it. The delivery team was quick, courteous, and professional. Thanks!
Response: Thanks so much for your kind review. It was our pleasure asissting you. Enjoy your new Clavinova, and thanks for allowing Downtown Piano Works to earn your business.

thetadecay: Had great experience with Downtown Piano Works. They offered the best price for a Yamaha piano in the area. Theresa is very knowledgeable and helped me understand the differences among the pianos and determine which one to get. It felt that she wasn’t trying to sell a piano but to make sure you get the right piano for your household. Even though due to pandemic the waiting is a bit long, they always respond quickly. Definitely recommend them to all my friends.
Response: Thank you for your kind review, and for allowing Downtown Piano Works to earn your business. We hope you Enjoy your new Yamaha U-1 for years to come.

Sara Weise: We had an extraordinary experience due to the owners. Theresa is supremely knowledgeable and attentive helping us make the best most informed decision. My son was allowed to play many of the pianos displayed (which is a dream come true for him) while she helped us narrow down our search. We were never rushed. The buying process was easy. Great status updates along the way. Delivery was straightforward and efficient. I'm 100% sure that we purchased the best piano suited for my 16 yo. Shop in confidence with Theresa and Dan.
Response: It was our pleasure helping you. Enjoy your new Yamaha CLP-745, and thanks for allowing Downtown Piano Works to earn your business.

Michael Tang: We called them on Sunday afternoon for an appointment, and was able to visit within half an hour. We were greeted by Dan and Theresa, who were very friendly and knowledgeable, familiar with the ins and outs of Yamaha pianos. Theresa is the musician who knows all the technical details of pianos and music, while Dan takes care of billing and clerk work. It was a very pleasant experience for us, and we know we got the best deal because every customer gets the best deal from them. My daughter’s former piano teacher Ms. Debbie Gerrity also highly recommended them. My daughter also enjoyed talking to them about Minecraft!
Response: It was our pleasure to meet you and your family. Thanks for allowing Downtown Piano Works to earn your business. Enjiy your new Yamaha GB1K grand piano.

Emma Saggers: Meeting Dan and Theresa was a great experience and both myself and my husband enjoyed spending time talking to them at our visit to the store. They gave us an appointment within 30 minutes of calling and guided us through all the options open to us. They have both an incredible amount of experience in the music industry and are extremely knowledgeable about the Yamaha piano brand. They collected our old piano and delivered our new B3 when we were ready - delivery was quick and easy! We highly recommend you check out Downtown Piano Works when you are looking for your new piano. It was great meeting you Dan and Theresa!
Response: Thanks so much for your kind review. It was great meeting you guys as well! Thanks for allowing us to earn your business.

Action Music Ltd: what do users think?

TJ Sanner: I love guitars. I love visiting awesome shops that have amazing inventory and amazing staff that are excited to be in that environment. Action did not disappoint today. Hands down the best inventory of Huss & Dalton, Collings, and vintage Martin. They even spur of the moment fit me in and made a quick truss rod adjustment while I waited. Totally unbelievable. I am a small business owner myself and only hope these guys know how awesome they are! Thanks for an amazing visit, truly a 6star experience! We traveled from Annapolis just to see their shop and will be back 100%.
Response: Thank You TJ It was really nice to meet You! Thank You for Your kind review. Matt

Everett DeLuca: This is an incredibly wonderful place. Incredibly reasonable pricing on repairs, done with impeccable quality. The gentlemen who run the shop are a riot and you'll leave with an excellent lesson in guitar maintenance. Also a wild collection of vintage amps and pedals. This is heaven for any guitarist.
Response: Thank You for the kind review Everett!

Matt Lyttle: The greatest guitar shop around, no question. Incredible selection of new and vintage instruments. All sorts of pedals and gear. Extremely knowledgeable staff. And they are as welcoming as can be. Just be respectful of their stuff and they will treat you like family - no matter how deep (or empty) your pockets are!
Response: Thank You Matt!

Elisa: Great store! The staff are so friendly, kind, and willing to share advice. I always have a pleasant experience taking my guitars in for work or browsing for new gear.
Response: Thank You for the kind words Elisa!

Matthew Morgan: This place is the best guitar shop in the DMV and it’s not even close. The guys know their stuff and they care about what they do. I came in with a California strat a few months ago and the owner took time to walk me through the history of the guitar, the value, and helped me weigh pros and cons of investing in some repairs. They’ve set up 4 of my guitars and have done A+ work on each one. Love these guys!
Response: Wow Thank You Matthew-we appreciate Your kind review.

Cameron Quinn: Music shops like this are a dying bread and thankfully we still have killer shops like Action. Super knowledgeable about all things music and guitars. Best and most eclectic selection of vintage guitars in the area. Thanks Action!
Response: Thank You Cameron!

Harrison Z: I found a guitar on their website listed as in stock, called to buy it and they explained their website is out of date by about 5 years. Ok. They mentioned they have a Mustang Bass for sale though so I was interested. Rob told me he had to check with his boss on how to do the sale but the best way would be to mail a check. I accepted the terms and asked to please place a hold tag. They said they could put the tag on for me. I called them the next day to ask for the pictures they promised me, they were “slammed; call back later no time to put a hold tag on”. I called back later. “The shop is closing now but we can make a reverb listing for you tomorrow and you’ll just buy it first as it goes up.” I told them, Saturday on reverb, it’s very possible someone will buy it in those seconds before me. They said it’s never happened and won’t be a problem. I call back the next day to remind them of the deal, they said call a little later. I did. They say 3,2,1 the listing is up, Reverb wanted my CVV code (which doesn’t usually happen) which I scrambled to get, then someone else bought the bass in those seconds. Apparently the other buyer is a returning customer so they sold the bass to him. After all the calls I made and the changing of terms I accepted, they simply sold it out from under me. This is the number one worst experience I’ve had buying a guitar. They cant accept a credit card over the phone? The reverb listing wouldn’t have even been created if it weren’t for me and they sell it to this other guy who is apparently on the way to pick it up 30 seconds after purchasing? Come on. Who do you think would have been inconvenienced more; him or me? After all the phone calls I made and patience I had after reminding them several times about the sale, obviously me!! they didn’t seem to mind at all selling it out from under me. Almost proud of their decision. A simple explanation to the other buyer and I’m sure everyone would understand that the bass should have been sold to me. And a bonus complaint, I asked them at the end of the call if they have anymore vintage fenders in stock and they told me I was already told what they have in stock the day before. As if somehow I was inconveniencing them! Absolutely unbelievable and extremely unprofessional. “We’ve been doing the same thing for 25 years buddy “. Is what I heard many times. What??? Reverbs been around for about 6 years. And you’d think they’d know how to honor a deal after all their years as a shop! Extremely disappointed and so much of my time and energy wasted for nothing.
Response: The item was listed on Reverb specifically for You and we notified You and were on the phone with You as we went live with the listing so You could grab it. We specifically asked You, if You were ready to proceed, after you said Yes we listed, But then You continued to haggle and were told that the item was in two other peoples carts. Then someone bought it out from under you. I'm sorry but we tried very hard to work with You, and patiently explained our policies multiple times. We tried, sometimes things just don't work out. Thank You Matt

Christopher Frakes: Great selection of instruments, equipment, and accessories. Matt and co. are knowledgeable, kind, and a delight to chat with. Hands down the best music store in the area!
Response: Thank You Chris!

muscle man: action music is a really good store. the people that work there are all super nice and welcoming. i gotta come back here one day. also the location is very nice considering its right next to a record store and a recording studio
Response: Thank You!

Shawn Hatfield: Always a good time. Thank you guys for the Orange cab this time. I usually get vintage fuzz pedals here. Great selection of instruments, amps, fx, and other music goodies!
