Middle C Music: what do users think?

James Hurwitz: Without reservation, Middle C Music deserves the highest possible recommendation. They did a superb job of cleaning up and giving an overall tune-up to my antique guitar and repairing my antique mandolin. In the process, I saw how the staff at Middle C —Nick, Tom, Dave and Hillary — interacted not just with me but customers and students of all ages and abilities. What I appreciated most was their low key manner and the pleasure they took in enhancing the joy that others got from their instruments, music, and lessons. This is truly an excellent music store.

Gillian Edick: We popped into Middle C to have a guitar restrung and tuned. They did it quickly, but more importantly made it great fun for my aspiring but beginner guitarist. Tom was amazing - so helpful and took the time to show my son how to tune the guitar, hold it and get started. Really fantastic service. Thanks Tom and team!

Paul Myers: I purchased a piano from these fine people, and I love it. It was very competitively priced. I have also purchased a guitar, and I have had these folks restring several guitars, and they do a great job —and again, the price is right. I love supporting small businesses, and Middle C Music is one of the best!

Fernando Nogueira: Super friendly and helpful staff. We were missing a very specific guitar screw and they helped us out in no time.

Susanna Gregory: I LOVED it here! Stopped by for a new guitar and the staff was immediately willing to help and super friendly. The prices were great and I was really impressed with all the cool little things you could buy too! I didn’t get the names of the people who helped me but they were fantastic

Michelle Long: I had the best time at Middle C Music! Everyone was super knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. I came in looking for a 3/4 size acoustic guitar for traveling and had my pick of a beautiful selection. Big fan!! Will return!

Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center: what do users think?

Carlton Jones: Chuck Levins Washington Music Center, has been the most anticipated retail store visit since I was 13 years old. Every local musician I know in DC has spent time and money at Chuck’s. I recently made a purchase and it went as all my transactions made there since approx 1970. This time it was online but a very personal affair, Adam Levin was helpful and more accommodating that an old guy could ask for. It was still like xmas awaiting my package that came overnight and with a wonderful gift. I can honestly say it was the most emotional purchase I’ve made in decades, not the most expensive, not a life changing acquisition just a memory evoking moment that included family members and friends passed on that I think of frequently whom I spent many hours playing music with and having the best times of my life. Me, my family, friends and Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center…. Thanks again Adam, if this is my last purchase please know they have all been the best!

Richard Capeless: My experience was through an online order and I am here to testify to their exceptional customer service. I had a small problem with a piece of gear I was really excited to get, and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate me. General manager Adam Levin reach out to me and oversaw my exchange. That kind of personal touch made it clear that they care about their customers.

Rachel Ellis: Bought my fiancé a guitar here a year ago. Sales person was friendly and helpful. Good covid protocol for the time. Sales people weren’t pushy and were well informed on guitars. Bought the Taylor GS Mini and it’s been a great guitar. Would definitely check them out if you’re in the market for an instrument. Only downside was slightly outdated equipment/billing systems, but nothing a little patience doesn’t fix.

Eddie Monson: Excellent customer service, very courteous and professional... Bought a new guitar at a good price and shipped fast..

D0nut7125: Got my trick Dominators from this store, fast shipping and arrived just on time for a gig. Will be ordering from this place again!

Mary Ann Wyckoff: Aaron was very helpful with answering questions and guiding me towards choosing the right bass clarinet for me! I definitely recommend Chuck Levin’s!

Steinway Piano Gallery - Mid-Atlantic Selection Center (By Appointment Only): what do users think?

Anita Pratana Yuthasastrkosol: 100% best experience having my studio’s students recital here! Jenny, the marketing director for Steinway personally came to help me set up and made sure that I had everything I needed before the recital. She and her brother went out of their way to make sure that my students, family, and guests were able to find the hall without problem. Everyone was very happy!

Seyi Badmus: I cannot say enough good things about this location of Steinway Piano Gallery. The entire staff is so professional and their customer service is beyond amazing. Jenny goes above and beyond to make sure you choose the right piano that suits your needs and continues to support you beyond your purchase. You won’t regret it, get your piano at this location.

Demetrios Marantis: Steinway Piano Gallery in Bethesda just made our long-standing piano dreams come true. We have been looking for a great quality, used baby grand piano. Thanks to Jenny’s terrific help, we found the perfect instrument. We tested a variety of options, including Bostons and Steinways, and decided to purchase a gorgeous Steinway with a deep, full sound. We had a terrific experience and very much appreciate the help of Jenny as well as Matt. We are so thrilled and can’t wait to play this piano for the rest of our lives!

Antigua Productions: I highly recommend the Steinway Gallery North Bethesda store. I purchased my first acoustic piano after owning a few keyboards and Helen Koo was very patient, accommodating and knowledgeable. As a first time buyer, you have anxieties and Helen was able to help me find the right piano for me. I am now the proud owner of an Essex upright and it sounds beautiful. The whole process was just very smooth and I definitely felt like a valued customer. The piano delivery and tuning was world class talent as well. While I have not owned a piano before, I know many colleagues who own acoustic pianos and I’ve heard some less than fortunate stories. In summary, I am a happy customer and I recommend the Bethesda Gallery for your Steinway needs 🙂

Autumn Park: First of all, I would highly recommend the Steinway Piano Gallery Mid-Atlantic Center in Bethesda,MD!! It was a very pleasant experience for my son and me. Helen and Jenny helped me out to choose the best piano for my family...I am so glad to hear their advice...The Boston GP 178 fits really well in my living room..I had been looking for a smaller one, but Helen and Jenny found a great piano for my family.. My son and I enjoyed playing the piano at the store without any pressure. Their service is top notch!! Also delivery was quick and excellent since my house has many stairs and corners. I already plan to upgrade Stweinway grand piano when my little baby is old enough to respect it. I will definitely visit there again. 😊 My sons and I are so happy with Boston piano now. Thank you, Helen and Jenny

Jordan Kitt's Music: what do users think?

Nicole Kim: I was looking for a specific Yamaha piano and called Jordan Kitt’s music, because I remembered my parents buying a piano from them seventeen years ago. Fortunately, the Rockville location had the exact piano that arrived a day before my call. This felt meant to be! I came in the next day and met with Tom Grace. Tom answered all my questions and gave me a great price. Now my daughter and I get to enjoy our beautiful piano for many years to come. Thank you Tom and Jordan Kitt’s Music!

Stefanie Miller: Wonderful experience and wonderful piano!! Our family lives in Washington, DC and recently decided to get a piano for our home with two little kiddos. I perused the inventory online and reached out to the shop to inquire about a piano I saw that looked like it might be just the right fit for our needs. Tom responded to my inquiry very quickly, and we were able to set up an in-person appointment that upcoming weekend. Tom showed us the piano I first inquired about and a few others. We ended up purchasing the piano I saw online - a beautiful, used Kawai baby grand - which was promptly delivered to our home a few days later. All in all a wonderful experience. And our house has been filled with music - and some toddler key slamming - ever since!

Jonathan Walker: I wanted to go with a local vendor since I needed to verify some details about the newest line of Yamaha Clavinovas. Thomas was extremely helpful, researched some facts I needed, and was always very staightforward, honest, and professional. Delivery was smooth. Highly recommend this shop.

Music on the Hill: what do users think?

Maritza Cooper: What a lovely place to not only purchase an instrument but learn how to use it! We started with my granddaughter learning the violin and moved on to mommy taking guitar lessons. Very homey atmosphere and great with kids of all ages! When I finally have the time I want to learn how to play drums!

Donovan Dorrance: Aaron hooked me up with a great set-up for my telecaster. Helped fix some intonation issues. So very grateful for his expertise, efficiency, and kindness. Highly recommend coming here! They will treat you right!!!

Shawn Benson: Music on the Hill - The Hill’s own neighborhood music shop. Pretty cool. I’m a new client at Music on the Hill and I’m a very satisfied customer. My wife and I look forward to coming back, taking lessons, and recommending this neighborhood music shop to our musically-inclined or curious friends. Their prices are often just as good (and sometimes better) than their competition. The customer service/expertise is spot-on. And, you feel good knowing your money is going back to a small, local business. Frankly, it’s an investment in our community and that’s almost reason enough these days. Give them a shot. They don’t have everything, but they’ve got a lot and it was more than enough for us.

anne phelps: My whole family loves Music on the Hill! Lindy is a terrific resource on all things music related. We’ve had great experiences with lessons (clarinet and guitar) and when we wanted to upgrade to a wooden clarinet, Lindy & Luke found us a quality used instrument. If there’s something we need and they don’t have it, they’ve always been able to get it in short order. Music on the Hill is everything a local music store should be.

Amaobi Otiji: I had an enjoyable experience buying a guitar here. Their shop setup is really aesthetically pleasing and their selections were all from very quality makers. The staff were very helpful in finding something that fit me by giving me a lot of options to work with. I also enjoyed them showing off the instruments with their musical skills.

Eric Schneider: Since this place added a guitar tech and luthier, I have taken in three guitars and received perfect setups and provided great service in general. So glad to have these folks in Capitol Hill instead of having to give a conglomerate like Guitar Center my business!

Kevin Wholihan: Had an amazing purchasing experience here and came away with a gorgeous acoustic. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, quickly found me the right size and a great fit. Very good COVID precautions. Will be back for my next major purchase.

Piano Man Superstore: what do users think?

J C: I bought a Yamaha piano here online. I was very pleased with the service. The piano was here at the previously promised timeframe. The tuner was scheduled and came within two weeks after the piano arrived as promised as well. Great service. Nick was always reachable on the phone and over email. He always was able to update me about the status of the delivery whenever I call or email. Highly recommended!

Beverly Paul: My beautiful Yamaha baby grand piano arrived yesterday. I am beyond pleased with the customer service. Both Jamil and Ryan were very pleasant and customer service oriented. No hard selling…Jamil was patient and showed me piano after piano (so many great choices) until I found the perfect one for me. Great buying experience! Would highly recommend!

Shayne Madison: Nick was truly helpful and gave expert guidance as I purchased a piano for my son. We were in great hands and have a wonderful piano. Thank you Nick and your delivery team! We could not be more happy. Thank you!

R bali: I had the most amazing experience at Pianoman. We were in the market for getting an acoustic piano and Nick and Ryan were the very best. The selection of Pianos was amazing we didn’t feel the need to go to another store. Ryan was the best please ask for him as he is patient and willing to answer the same question any number of times. He was extremely pleasant to work with and I can’t think of a better store to go to.

William Thompson: Great service in the store and seamless effort through the storage and shipping process, would definitely recommend

Joshua P: Great staff, competitive prices, and their warranty is gold! We bought a beautiful baby grand piano after searching several piano stores and other online postings. We decided to buy from Piano Man because their inventory was superb and their pricing was very competitive. After our purchase and delivery, we noticed a small problem with the sostenuto pedal. One call to Piano Man, and we had a plan for a fix no questions asked. A great experience with them, highly recommended!

House of Musical Traditions: what do users think?

Wilhelm Bonnette: Excellent place to find hard to find instruments as well as for instrument repair. This is a musical instrument boutique.....especially for string and percussion instruments. I found several drums that are collectable, which were in great condition. If you are serious about your craft....then you have to make time to visit!!!

Greg O: I am the type of person who goes into a music shop and likes to try a lot of instruments for a while before I buy and in many big chain music stores such as Chuck Levins, Guitar Center and music and arts I usually get very impatient, VERY PUSHY and rude service from the sales staff. I was so delighted to not experience that at all from your sales staff and this lack of pressure MADE ME BUY. I will definitely be back.

Daniel Meltzer: A wonderfully overwhelming array of instruments in this shop. Very nice folks. I am glad we have this place in the Baltimore/DC area.

Schaeffer's Piano Company: what do users think?

Nick Ballam: We took advantage of the annual MCPS Piano Sale and bought our first upright piano. The staff is very helpful and honest. Delivery was a difficult job as we live in a townhouse with a flight of cement stairs in front but they executed it without mishap. The piano is great and we got a great price on it. It also came with a fifteen year warranty for parts and labor as long as we get it tuned regularly. Would recommend.

Alejandro Fuentes (AF): I 100% recommended that anyone looking at grand pianos, especially Steinways, visit Tim at Schaeffer’s Piano Company. My wife and I purchased one last month and could not be happier with our mechanically restored Golden Era Steinway that contains brand new Steinway action parts. We went in looking for an upright and got a grand instead and did it without ever being pressured by them. Their values align more with educating and explaining their craftsmanship as opposed to finances. I know some all-time performers, but Tim is the most skilled and talented person I have ever met for the piano. His craftsmanship is brilliant, and it’s a trade his family members have passed down through generations for well over a century. We felt so comfortable getting a Steinway from Schaeffer’s, more so than anywhere else. Their long-term warranties and trade-in policies made it a no-brainer for us. They showed us that Steinways are affordable, after all. Use Schaeffer’s, everyone. You don’t need to spend over $100k for a Steinway Grand. Those are just markups. Any Steinway Tim and Company have in their possession will sound even better after they finish applying their craft. Trust me on this. Best Steinway experience possible. 5 Stars.

Jason Sack: They are sincere, passionate about pianos, and realize the shortsightedness of putting a quick buck above long-term customer satisfaction. In 2017 I purchased a Boston studio model, and after a day in the house, I realized that the nicer piano I had considered (a "Charles Walter Upright") was tugging at my heartstrings. I was willing to pay a bit more for an heirloom-grade instrument. I called Rick Schaeffer, explained things, and there was zero grief or push-back. They dropped by, swapped them out, I paid the difference, and everyone left happier for it. In 2021 one of the hammers suffered a broken spring. I loosened a screw to remove it and - knowing the extent of my technical skill and the risks of DIY repair - stopped by with the broken part. Tim invited me into the workshop while Stan made the repair. Being a fellow piano nerd, we talked shop, and they could not have been nicer. Again, there was zero grief or price-gouging for my little DIY adventure. This is a fantastic family business, and I can not recommend them enough.

Hanna Yu: We had such a wonder experience with Tim at Schaeffers Piano! It was quick and easy and ended up getting a much better piano than what we went in for. Great selection and great service. The trade-up program is great and awesome showroom with the attached shop that makes it a one stop shop. Our piano got delivered right away and on time. I highly recommend Scaheffers if you’re looking for a quality piano.

Jordan Kitt's Music: what do users think?

Eric Kelley: An opportunity came up in my life to have the piano I wanted. The Yamaha C-3 grand piano. I inquired with Jordan Kitts Music. They advised me that they had a C-3 and gave me an overview of the instrument. I decided to look at the instrument in the store. Brad, the store manager and associate Kenny both greeted me and showed me the instrument. As I was introducing myself to the instrument, they answered all my questions about the instrument, the store, their service and technicians, and also offered suggestions due to the model of the instrument of what I could do with it in the future. They allowed me to spend time by myself with the instrument where I was able to sit and play to get a real sense of the instrument. Naturally, we talked about music and pianos, where they showed me some new instruments. While outside my ability to afford, this allowed me to experience instruments I’ve never played before and gave me a lot of appreciated knowledge and insight about these new instruments. They had a wealth of information and knowledge about pianos, their inventory, and music generally. It was clear that they understood pianists. This gave me confidence about purchasing the C-3 from Jordan Kitts. They spent a lot of time and attention to what I wanted. They also understood how important this purchase was for me. After about a week of preparation of the piano, it was delivered promptly at 11am. The delivery was seamless, and the movers took great care bringing the instrument in the house and setting it up. I have to say that I am extremely satisfied working with Jordan Kitts to find the instrument I wanted. It is also clear to me that they have a strong relationship with the community which, as a musician, is also important for me. Outstanding experience!

J M: Kenny at JKM Fairfax Store has my highest recommendation! I met Kenny first at JKM piano roadshow at Costco before the pandemic, then again when I resumed my piano search at JKM Fairfax early 2022. As a classically trained pianist, Kenny demonstrated and shared his view of different pianos. He patiently answered my questions and gave me time to evaluate options. When I narrowed down to 2 options, he and manager Brad checked availability and best pricing to help me with my decision. I never felt rushed in my decision. They are more my trusted advisors than sales. The piano was ready for delivery in 1 months instead of 3 months as originally expected. The crew lead Vick confirmed a 2hr time frame the day before delivery. The crew (Vick+2) was on time even with rain and set the piano up in 30mins. Thanks to Kenny, Brad, Vick and JKM for making my piano search journey memorable. You have delivered happiness to many homes, kids and parents that would be appreciated for a lifetime.

Morgan Witthoft: Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Absolutely gorgeous pianos. If for some un fathomable reason your home doesn’t yet have a premium piano you must have a look at the pianos at J Kitt’s Music.

Vickie Carlson: Manager Brad Prentice at the Fairfax location graciously helped me choose a new digital piano to replace an old one. He showed me the features of many models and guided me to just the right one for my needs. I am very happy with it and glad to be playing again on my new Roland HP702. Thank you Jordan Kitts Music.

MrDcrules: Brad Prentice and the Jordan Kitts Fairfax store are world class. They let the client experience the different models on their own, but also are very helpful in guiding the purchase decision and can help people understand the intricacies and capabilities of the various pianos. Highly recommended!

Dana Varona: We had a wonderful experience buying our new Yamaha baby grand piano from Brad at the Fairfax location! I’m a local music teacher, and since piano isn’t my main instrument, we couldn’t justify spending an large amount of money on this purchase. Brad was extremely respectful of my budget and offered a substantial music teacher discount on a great instrument. Where other stores told me my budget was too low or didn’t return my inquiry, Brad was in touch right away with several options. He was also extremely accommodating of my schedule and limitations with a baby in tow. In the end, we were able to purchase the instrument we wanted for a reasonable price and with tremendous ease. The delivery crew was spectacular and set up the piano quickly and with utmost care, which was very much appreciated. Can’t recommend highly enough - this is a wonderful company deserving of your business!

Steinway Piano Gallery: what do users think?

Anthony Bruce: The team at Steinway did an amazing job restoring our piano. Our piano was very old and was very much in need of repair. It now looks, plays, feels, and sounds new. It is a beautiful instrument to see and to hear. But I know that it is still the same piano that I grew up listening to my mother play. While its flaws are gone, its sentimentality remains. The experience with the team was fantastic -- from consultation to agreement to pickup to restoration to delivery, every step was professional. I recommend Steinway Piano Gallery to anyone considering buying or restoring.

THE FLYNN: Jenny and Irena at Steinway Tysons were amazing to work with. They were super knowledgeable and helpful. Jenny handled our entire purchase and shipping logistic process. Looking forward to trading up from the Boston-GP178 to a Steinway one day... Its very reassuring to know Steinway offers a lifetime trade up guarantee.

Jeff B: The two sales ladies were very accompanying. They let my son play on a few out their higher end pianos. It was a great experience for him. He plans to buy a Steinway when he complete college.

Robert Winter: My wife and I recently purchased a Steinway B Sperio. We could not be happier. The piano is everything we hoped for. David Slan, of Steinway Piano Gallery, came over our house several times to help in the selection process and arranged for a virtual presentation by Steinway in NY of two pianos selected to meet our preference in tone and mechanics. Steinway experts in both NY and in our area facilitated the overall process. All in all it was remarkably easy and comfortable for what was a very important purchase.

Sharon Ruan: I bought a Steinway Grand piano from Helen Koo and Jenny Hung at Steinway Gallery at Tyson Corner! They not only provided me professional advice to help me narrow down the model to fit my living room, but also help me get the best price. My kids and I start to enjoy the Steinway, the most beautiful and amazing sound in the world! If you are still looking for a piano, please do not hesistate to pick up phone to call these two ladies or go to Steinway Gallery at Tyson Corner directly today!

George Assouad: I was recently visiting Tyson’s Corner Center for the second time. I have always been interested in high end pianos, but never had an opportunity to explore them in person given my travel schedule for work. Steinway needs little to no introduction. Growing up in Brooklyn, by Astoria Queens, I have had the opportunity to see the original Steinway location many years ago. The service there was superb and have to say, after many years not walking into a Steinway location, Tyson’s Steinway has continued the tradition of excellence. When walking into the store I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff, which later I learned, they’re not just customer service, they are piano specialists with many years of product / industry experience and actually understand and are talented pianists. The staff prides themselves on craftsmanship and art that makes a Steinway, a Steinway. Given my lack of knowledge in this field (but my desire to own one), I was impressed to learn about the new product line. Shocked to see / learn how Steinway has developed technology to meet originality, by the means of the Spirio. Irina, one of the sales specialist sat me down and showed me how the Spirio functions and how it can be seamlessly operated, even for someone with my limited knowledge of pianos. I was able to also sit down and attempt to play with no pressure and stress of doing so. Overall, the Tyson’s Steinway sales specialist truly made my experience stress free, and educational. I look forward to my next welcomed visit and look forward to the “experience” of being at Steinway.

Rick Jones Pianos: what do users think?

Cindi Mclean: We have no experience with pianos but wanted to buy one for our grandchildren. Rick spent time teaching us the difference between the pianos and helped us decide which piano would fit our needs. He was honest and there was no pressure to buy. The piano sounds great in our home and it arrived in perfect condition.

Hankster64: I would like to preface with a short background on how we came to do business with Rick Jones Pianos. My wife and I love to listen to piano music and she has wanted a player style piano for many years. We always assumed that they would be too expensive. Forward to May 2021 when she found Rick Jones Pianos. They had a very nice Yamaha Disklavier upright that was within our budget. We made contact with Paul and setup an appointment. Sofie placed a hold on the piano for us. Rick personally met us and gave us an in-depth demonstration. We happened to catch the Memorial Day sale and that made it even better. Sofie handled the transaction and we where happy Yamaha piano owners! The delivery was smooth and professional. We have been listening to our piano almost daily. We discovered an iPhone app that allows you to stream music directly to the piano. We highly recommend Rick Jones Pianos! If your in the market make them your first and only stop! Hank and Carolyn

Aun Kei Hong: This was really pleasant experience. They allow you to test out any piano on the floor. And the whole purchase to delivery process was very smooth and easy.

Mike DiSalvo: Very large selection of quality used pianos and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would buy from them.

Michael O'Shaughnessy: I am extremely impressed by Rick Jones Pianos. We first purchased our piano in 2010, and were thrilled with their service, quality, and pricing at the time. Ten years later, when we moved from VA, we needed to find a new home for our piano. Fortunately, we decided to put it on consignment with Rick Jones. Even during a global pandemic, they picked it up immediately, and promised they would keep us posted. True to their word, several months later we received notice that the piano sold, and they were sending a generous check. It is reassuring to know there are truly honest and reputable companies out there. This is a trustworthy company that sells products that will hold their value. Go with Rick Jones!

Debra Principi: We purchased a beautiful grand piano from Rick late last year for a house we renovated in Easton, Maryland. We put the house on the market, sold it the first day WITH the piano! Rick and his team were amazing to work with and we will definitely purchase from him again!

Tim Glazewski: Rick Jones has an impressive selection of quality, reasonably priced used pianos, and their sales people are passionate musicians. They’re more interested in helping you find the right piano to meet your needs than getting you out the door with more piano than you need. We bought a beautiful grand piano. The experience was great from browsing to delivery. We’d definitely give them the highest recommendation.

Cindy Currle: After a move from Virginia to Florida I traded in the piano I bought from Rick Jones six years ago and upgraded. My piano (purchased sight unseen) was delivered to Florida yesterday. It is gorgeous and sounds absolutely beautiful. I worked with Rick Jones Piano from their website, then email and over the phone and am extremely impressed with the piano and the service I received.

Sangi Colney: You don’t have to keep up with the Jones when u are at Rick Jones Piano, You are treated like the Jones! Rick and his staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Their customer service exceeded all my expectations.

PianoCraft: what do users think?

Norm Long: If you are in the market for a piano, read this review before you make a purchase. My wife and I have been dealing with PianoCraft since the late 90’s when we purchased our first new Mason & Hamlin Model A from Shaun. Some 20 plus years later that same piano today is worth more than twice what we paid for it new—a testimony to the fine instruments PianoCraft handles. Also, I cannot say enough about the support that PianoCraft has provided throughout the years with tuning and minor repairs-always professionally done, and at a fair price. About one month ago, we were looking for a piano for our home in Florida. We made an appointment with PianoCraft and met with them. Shaun gave us a tour of the entire facility and explained the rebuild process and showed us the work in progress on a piano owned by the family of a world-renowned composer. After getting the tour of the rebuild shop and getting answers to some questions, I now understand why the Smithsonian and the Kennedy Center use PianoCraft to rebuild their pianos-probably the best rebuild shop in the United States! So, after the tour we were shown some pianos that fit the profile of what we were in the market for, and ended purchasing not one but two incredible pianos that Shaun had available. One is an incredible Steingraeber, the other a wonderful Grotrian. We are elated with our purchases and as expected, PianoCraft has delivered without a flaw. If you are in the market for a piano, you should not purchase without first consulting with PianoCraft! They handle the finest pianos made in the world!

Organist One: I have been the pianist and organist at Providence Presbyterian Church for 22 years. In addition to church staff musician duties, I was deeply involved with Music and Arts at Providence, a church supported program that brought four to five musical events to our performance space each year. We realized that we needed to upgrade our piano to continue to attract quality groups to our music series. PianoCraft provided the answer. They arranged for us to bring our church music staff and other members of our board to their Maryland facility. We were treated to a complete tour of their restoration process and I had the opportunity to test and evaluate a number of their best concert pianos. Upon Shaun Tirrell’s recommendation, we selected an Estonia Model 274 (9’) concert grand. We are very pleased with the Estonia and highly recommend Shaun Tirrell and PianoCraft of Gaithersburg." Five stars for PianoCraft!!!!

Sandeep Dwivedi: I had Noah, from PianoCraft service my piano. I am very happy with the service he provided. He paid attention to every little detail, took time to tune and was a thorough professional. Highly recommend him !

Kenneth Luurs: My job involved a fair amount of travel and when visiting new cities, i always made it a point to visit the local piano stores. I had recently bought a new Steinway B grand piano - but when I saw and heard what PianoCraft did with pianos, I knew I had to have one even though it meant selling a perfectly good piano as PianoCraft gave me a great piano. Even my piano technician who worked for a Steinway dealer and who regularly did technical work for world class artists knew this piano was something special and said so. My PianoCraft Steinway B makes me a better pianist. I feel like I play and sound better than I really am thanks to this wonderful piano. Thanks to the fine folks at PianoCraft.

sgisela: After deciding to start my search for a grand piano, several people told me that PianoCraft was a place I needed to visit. And after going to many piano dealers in the area, I can say that while the DC area has many good piano stores, PianoCraft is truly special! PianoCraft clearly takes great pride in its work and its instruments, and with good reason. Perhaps especially for amateurs like me who enter the shopping process with little understanding of the piano landscape, the ability to meet pianos at their best really allows the player to understand the different characteristics and personalities of the pianos (and helped me to understand what most spoke to me). Their appointment-only policy definitely helps with this (although these days, this kind of policy seems pretty universal). They have an excellent selection of new, rebuilt, and pre-owned American, European, and Asian pianos that really showcase different piano characteristics. Some customer service standouts: When I decided to consider slightly bigger pianos than I originally had in mind, they delivered a floor template to my home (which proved very helpful in allaying my family’s concerns about size). And when I did make my decision to buy a beautiful ESTONIA L210, they had the piano delivered 4 days later. I look forward to many happy years with my new piano!

I think what a lot of people don’t know is Guitar Center also has a great selections of equipment keyboards, sound, lighting and turntable equipment. The staff here is superb, helpful and provided a lot of great recommendations I didn’t initially considered. I highly recommend this location to anyone passing through this area or are visiting.

Quentin Workman: After a mixup in shipping, and UPS losing my guitar, I was refunded for the price of mine and sent a new one on them. They are a great company that I will continue to frequent!

Hasan ibn-Sabah: Decent stock, helpful and friendly employees who seem to like what they do. Minus 9ne star for the horrible parking lot situation.

MOHAMMED DALOWAR HOSSAIN: This an amazing place to buy a guitar and necessity of the music world instrument

She Fancy: These folks are just AWESOME. The young lady (the only young lady- pardon me for being absent minded) educated me on my desired purchase and went above and beyond to select the very best electric drum set available. She helped me prank surprise my husband with the drum set for his bday. She purchased balloons for him at zero cost to me. I can’t say enough. Extremely satisfied with the value AND service.

Jasons Music Center: what do users think?

Joseph Vendemia: Mason and Tom are the Men!!! They are hooking me up with a pickup for my Fender Mandolin!!! Getting it installed as we speak!!! I love you both like your my brothers!!! Thank you for your assistance and kindness!!!! I bought my first Martin guitar from the Jason’s store on Ritchie hwy!! Keep on keeping on to the whole shop!!!!

James Prunty: My beautiful Kawai CS 10 just got exceptional warranty service and I wanted all of you considering a purchase from Jasons to know that Kawai extends an exceptional warranty and takes care of your piano.

Elizabeth Massey: I recently (Sep 2021) walked into Jason’s Music Center on an exploratory visit in my quest to buy an acoustic piano that would facilitate musical power for me and guests in my home, and a digital piano that would facilitate creativity with technology for the next generation in today’s musical world. Steve Cohen met me at the door, then patiently listened and helped guide me through a 3-visit process of deciding what would best meet my goals. My pianos were delivered yesterday by a careful and personable crew. I am now thoroughly enjoying the sound and feel of this rich, brilliant and powerful Baldwin (even before the first tuning!), and delighting in the fun possibilities of jamming and arranging and creating with younger players and the Kawai digital piano. The expertise and experience of Steve and the staff at Jason’s were a comfortable mix of personable and professional, and I feel confident that they will also help me manage the ongoing care and maintenance of these fine instruments. I highly recommend Jason’s Music Center for sensitive guidance through any musical instrument selection process.

Keith Wheeles: Steve was a wonderful resource in helping me find my dream piano. He was observant of my preferences, was able to suggest most likely matches, and made it convenient and comfortable for me to play and test each of them to my satisfaction. Smooth and pleasant process with terrific outcome. Highly recommend.

Sung Park: The first upgrade after the initial purchase. Steve was very helpful to select piano. My initial purchase was 2019 and I wanted upgrade to better one for my family. Yes he is friendly and helpful as other mentioned. Yes, this is one of the best option if you want to purchase piano and upgrade gradually as time goes instead of purchase new one.

Jillian Mills: We’ve been renting instruments for our kids for the last 3 years and have had the absolute best customer service - from switching to different size violins, minor repairs and switching from strings to woodwind, they are always a joy to work with. When the COVID shut down happened, we were uncertain about how we’d handle the $60 monthly rental fee for 2 instruments - especially since the kids weren’t getting lessons in school. When I called to find out what they were doing, Jason’s Music extended 6 months of free rentals - for everyone. Giving all of those children access to their instruments during such a difficult time for any small business is a gift I will never forget. This company is truly and inspiration when it comes to being reliable and supportive of their community here in Anne Arundel County and they have our business for life.

Marsha Hollar: Steve was a total pleasure to work with in the purchase of our new Kawai grand piano! We had been searching since the summer exploring both the used and new market for a Kawai trying to marry our budget with our needs and desires. Once we decided on a piano, Steve was able to make the magic happen so we could bring it home! This included trading in our baby grand. As our piano wasn’t in stock, Steve went out of his way to locate one for us. There was a wait for the next shipment and the process of customs, but it was so worth it! It has a beautiful, rich, mellow sound! We are looking forward to the decades that this piano will be used! Today alone, it’s been used almost nonstop since it’s arrival! Also, the piano movers were so professional and really took care of each piano during take down and set up. Thank you again Steve!

Cunningham Piano Company: what do users think?

V S: Mr. Hugh Sung is an outstanding salesperson at Cunningham Piano. I greatly benefitted from his technical expertise, his availability and also from watching his superbly crafted and highly informative YouTube video. Thanks much, Hugh.

Nan Feyler: I had a wonderful experience purchasing a used Yamaha piano at Cunningham’s at a very fair price . I love playing it. Rich Glassini the co-owner was very helpful. Delivering was prompt and professional. If you are interested in a used or new piano go to Cunningham’s

Davey Hiester: I had a wonderful experience working with Cunningham Piano. Rich Galassini, one of the owners, worked with me to find the perfect instrument, both for what I needed as a pianist and what I could buy with my budget. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I did not feel rushed or pressured to make a decision immediately. At Cunningham they took me seriously and really worked with me, rather than being exclusively interested in the sale, like some other piano dealers are. Rich gave me good advice about selecting a piano and gave me the opportunity to play for hours while I made this important decision. I finally decided on an American handmade Charles M. Walter upright piano, a brand I did not see at other piano showrooms I visited. If you are looking to buy a piano, I would highly recommend Cunningham Piano in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. They have a great selection of pianos and a very knowledgeable and friendly team of piano professionals. I am very happy with my experience at Cunningham Piano. While I was there, singers from The Delaware Valley Opera Company were rehearsing. It is a welcoming place for musicians, and they have the history of excellence, expertise and commitment to the piano which gives me complete confidence that I made the right choice.

Foxes Music Co.: what do users think?

Vassilios Vassiliadis-Laouto Lobby: Fantastic local music store. Customer service is awesome and the manager Dave Belazis always goes above and beyond to help you get the best deal. They also offer musical classes and sell any type of musical instrument, accessories and equipment. I rather support this nice store than other online or other real music shops.

Dale Dean: Extremely professional service allowed me to find the right edition of sheet music that I wanted. And we conferred back and forth by text messages before I even entered the store to pick up the edition. Outstanding and responsive treatment.

T King: Very cool old school music shop, lotta different instruments, sheet music etc. Not sure how competitive prices on guitar amps are. Fun to browse. Looks like the do lessons and repairs, too.

aria moshrefi: Came in just to exchange the rental violin for my son. Brian A was so helpful. He showed us the problem was was not the size of the violin but the locations of the tape was not correct. Excellent free assistance by such a nice employee Thank you you so much !

Christine Hill: I went to Foxes music just to come see and admire the store cause of all the instruments. It was my first time going there and usually i’m a anxious mess kind of a person. I was immediately greated by good ol Dave! (Welcoming and friendly) He showed me some books, amps, intruments, etc. demoed some pedals. Not once was there a pressure to buy or anything which was super nice! No sales pitch and I thoroughly appreciated that. I saw this mustang and he showed it to me and all was history! I walked out with a slammin deal and stand in top of that! Thanks so much Dave! Will definitely be coming back!

Kramer’s Piano Shop: what do users think?

Sandra Moreno: Thank you for helping us with the piano tuning! Wonderfully done, very nice service and excellent customer service!

Tim Bouis: Excellent piano shop! Great selection of grands, baby grands, uprights and even digitals & synths! Full-service means they tune, deliver, service and restore. Also sign up for lessons! Check out their guitars, ukelales, extensive sheet music & book collection and lots of gift/accessory possibilities. Incredibly nice and helpful staff!

Michael Black: We visited this restaurant after training at work. They accommodated all 10 of us without a reservation and seated us in a private area of the restaurant. The atmosphere is great, with the large fireplace cheese bar etc. The food is responsibly priced and prepared very well. I will return on my next visit to NH.

Jodi Oliver: Kramer’s Piano Shop has provided me excellent service over the years. They have been courteous, prompt (or called if there was an issue and they were running behind) and have made recommendations for the care and longevity of my piano. I would highly recommend them. HIGHLY. They do great work. Good people.

Cathy Inman: Kramer’s is the best. My daughter used to play piano competitively and has played for over 20 years. We have always had Kramer’s tune our piano. Having two adult children and a husband that have good ears for music and know when it is out of tune, I wouldn’t have anyone else. Kramer’s has done some rebuilding on our piano in their shop, too. My son plays music for a living and we have bought a several other musical instruments through Kramer’s. He is currently working with them to obtain a digital piano for the church where he is the music worship leader. They always work with you and are very accommodating and are good honest people.

Downtown Piano Works: what do users think?

Sun Shine: I had a great experience with Dan and Theresa at Downtown Piano Works. They are very helpful for buying Piano. I recommend to buy only from them! I searched piano from many websites and Dan gave me the best price with free shipping and free assembly, that was wonderful experience! I am so happy I listened to my friend to buy a piano from them! So excited and happy :) The attached pictures are "Rosewood Piano" which I received it yesterday. It was easy and comfortable buying piano from that store with no worry at all.

Simona Balint: We couldn’t recommend Dan and Downtown Piano more!! We were looking for a good piano for our daughters and the whole experience of trying out more pianos in the shop and the complex and professional advice received from Dan, everything was fantastic! Dan even patiently explained and made a demonstration about how the mechanism works in upright and acoustic pianos. He was very helpful every step of our piano purchase experience and even managed to deliver us the piano earlier than we initially agreed on. First class service! Highly recommend Downtown Piano!

Bonita Robinson: Dan and Theresa are great! This is the second piano I purchased from them. In 2018 they had a used Pearl River baby grand. I loved it. But recently I wanted to upgrade and just purchased a Yamaha Grand. They gave me an UNBELIEVABLE trade up value. I did a price comparison and they could not be beaten. The experience was first class. Delivery was quick, and I received a follow up call. Great people! Great business. Highly recommend!

Nick Filippakis: We had a great experience purchasing a Yamaha piano from Downtown Piano Works in April 2022 for our daughter. Dan and his wife were extremely helpful with no sales pressure and thoroughly explained the models, buying process, and delivery. They worked with us to find the exact piano we were looking for and delivered on time with no issues. We’d definitely recommend Downtown Piano Works for anyone looking to buy a Yamaha and wanting a straightforward process from an established business with a strong reputation.

Jessica Ton: Dan was a pleasure to work with! I knew I wanted to purchase a piano from a small business, and Dan was extremely knowledgeable and approachable and was willing to answer questions via text about the piano, ordering process, etc. Although the piano was significantly delayed due to supply chain issues, it was well worth the wait. I got a Yamaha Clavinova CLP-765GP, it’s a digital baby grand with an even smaller footprint than a regular baby grand. Fits really well into our living room. My only suggestion thus far is to consider getting a longer piano bench, since this one isn’t long enough to fit two people. The Apollo piano movers were professional, punctual, and assembled the piano in 15 minutes. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase so far! Thanks Dan!

Elease Layman: Dan and Theresa at Downtown Piano Works are wonderful! They let me take my time and ask all my questions; I did not feel hurried at all. They are very knowledgeable and had great follow-up. The piano is just what we wanted and fits perfectly in the small space we have for it. The delivery team was quick, courteous, and professional. Thanks!

thetadecay: Had great experience with Downtown Piano Works. They offered the best price for a Yamaha piano in the area. Theresa is very knowledgeable and helped me understand the differences among the pianos and determine which one to get. It felt that she wasn’t trying to sell a piano but to make sure you get the right piano for your household. Even though due to pandemic the waiting is a bit long, they always respond quickly. Definitely recommend them to all my friends.

Michael Tang: We called them on Sunday afternoon for an appointment, and was able to visit within half an hour. We were greeted by Dan and Theresa, who were very friendly and knowledgeable, familiar with the ins and outs of Yamaha pianos. Theresa is the musician who knows all the technical details of pianos and music, while Dan takes care of billing and clerk work. It was a very pleasant experience for us, and we know we got the best deal because every customer gets the best deal from them. My daughter’s former piano teacher Ms. Debbie Gerrity also highly recommended them. My daughter also enjoyed talking to them about Minecraft!

Emma Saggers: Meeting Dan and Theresa was a great experience and both myself and my husband enjoyed spending time talking to them at our visit to the store. They gave us an appointment within 30 minutes of calling and guided us through all the options open to us. They have both an incredible amount of experience in the music industry and are extremely knowledgeable about the Yamaha piano brand. They collected our old piano and delivered our new B3 when we were ready - delivery was quick and easy! We highly recommend you check out Downtown Piano Works when you are looking for your new piano. It was great meeting you Dan and Theresa!

Action Music Ltd: what do users think?

TJ Sanner: I love guitars. I love visiting awesome shops that have amazing inventory and amazing staff that are excited to be in that environment. Action did not disappoint today. Hands down the best inventory of Huss & Dalton, Collings, and vintage Martin. They even spur of the moment fit me in and made a quick truss rod adjustment while I waited. Totally unbelievable. I am a small business owner myself and only hope these guys know how awesome they are! Thanks for an amazing visit, truly a 6star experience! We traveled from Annapolis just to see their shop and will be back 100%.

Matt Lyttle: The greatest guitar shop around, no question. Incredible selection of new and vintage instruments. All sorts of pedals and gear. Extremely knowledgeable staff. And they are as welcoming as can be. Just be respectful of their stuff and they will treat you like family - no matter how deep (or empty) your pockets are!

Elisa: Great store! The staff are so friendly, kind, and willing to share advice. I always have a pleasant experience taking my guitars in for work or browsing for new gear.

Matthew Morgan: This place is the best guitar shop in the DMV and it’s not even close. The guys know their stuff and they care about what they do. I came in with a California strat a few months ago and the owner took time to walk me through the history of the guitar, the value, and helped me weigh pros and cons of investing in some repairs. They’ve set up 4 of my guitars and have done A+ work on each one. Love these guys!

Cameron Quinn: Music shops like this are a dying bread and thankfully we still have killer shops like Action. Super knowledgeable about all things music and guitars. Best and most eclectic selection of vintage guitars in the area. Thanks Action!

Christopher Frakes: Great selection of instruments, equipment, and accessories. Matt and co. are knowledgeable, kind, and a delight to chat with. Hands down the best music store in the area!

muscle man: action music is a really good store. the people that work there are all super nice and welcoming. i gotta come back here one day. also the location is very nice considering its right next to a record store and a recording studio

Shawn Hatfield: Always a good time. Thank you guys for the Orange cab this time. I usually get vintage fuzz pedals here. Great selection of instruments, amps, fx, and other music goodies!
