He was so pleasant and efficient. He made what was a very difficult project for me, so much better. I am grateful and I would highly recommend. Larry was awesome. Adriana Nateal Hammond: What I like about DC is how willing the staff is to explain anything technical you might want to know about using film. The only thing I'm not excited about is pricing and the lack of a detailed oriented approach to film development. For example, I had film developed and they didn't digitally convert all of my images. I was comparing the negatives to my digitals and some were missing. They were nice about it and asked me to come back in but I live NW so it's a bit of a trek. For how much you pay, it would be nice if they just did it right the first time.
Response: Hi Adriana, We usually scan all scannable negatives. Sometimes the scanner is not able to see the underexposed or overexposed negatives. Please let us know if you would like us to look at your negatives. Saed T.

Suzy Fitzgerald: I love District Camera! When I was living in DC this was the only place that I would get my film developed. Syed is the best, he is so friendly and answers all my camera and film questions! The scanning and development process is timely and the quality is very good. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for somewhere to get film developed!

Demna Devdariani: Today, I went to the store to look for a battery for my flashlight. Ken, who was sitting beside the computer, helped me find out which exact battery I needed. He was very kind, professional, and genuinely cared about finding the item even though the store did not carry that particular battery. He spent around 15-20 minutes looking for the item online for me. He was the most genuine and helpful store associate I have interacted with in recent years.

Laura McQuade: Cannot recommend this place enough! I was visiting from the UK and needed film developing before my flight back. These guys developed and scanned 7 rolls over a week and each time, I got the scans emailed to me within two days. Such a lovely experience and Marvin is the absolute best. I've always struggled loading film into my manual camera and Marvin helped me do this with my new one. Most people just do it for you and don't talk you through the process, but he did and even took the time to watch me do it a few times just to make sure I was confident. Can't recommend this place enough and excited to visit again when I'm across the pond!

Emma K Alexandra: I’ve purchased many items from District Camera including a camera and lens. The quality of the products new and used has been fantastic. However, when I rented a lens for the weekend my experience was absolutely horrible. District camera has two account systems. One for their shop and one for rentals. Rentals require an ID, which is reasonable. This is tricky for me since I am transgender and my legal name does not match the name I use. When purchasing items I use my account with my preferred name on it. When I signed up to rent I used my legal name, so it matched my ID. I didn’t want any issues. I was able to rent the lens. But when I returned it I started to have issues. The person I returned the lens to asked if they could change the name on both of my accounts. I said no. I’d like to have my preferred name used on my store account. The person then said he was confused and it would be easier if they changed the name on both accounts and did it anyway. Despite me asking them not to. Now, I’m faced with having to use my legal name when I purchase anything from District Camera. This is awkward and embarrassing. It makes me never want to purchase from District Camera again. This experience shows that District Camera is not a trans friendly business and does not respect even the basic dignity of trans people. I tried my best to make this experience quick and simple and I came out of my rental never wanting to purchase from District Camera again. Very disappointing behavior. If District Camera wants to improve their respect for trans customers they need to allow the use of trans people’s preferred names and only require the usage of a legal name where absolutely necessary, like matching an ID. Their employees need to understand that not everyone wants their legal name used all of the time. And they certainly need to stop changing the names of trans people’s account to their legal name when specifically asked not to. Update 5/2/22: I understand that District Camera must accept an ID. That is not my issue. My issue is that my name was changed *in another account* for no apparent reason, even when I asked the person not to. I had to explain to the person I was working with my gender in front of many other customers

Cynthia Loaiza-Shipp: I have only positive things to say of District Camera and Imaging! I've been going to this location for over a year now to get my camera cleaned and they are always so professional and punctual with their work. Today I needed a small accessory to turn my tripod into a sort of light stand so I went into the store. The service I received was above and beyond and I honestly cannot remember the last time I was served so well by any business! Even thought the part I was looking for was relatively inexpensive (about $10) Ken went out of his way to help me find the accessory. While Ken was helping me find what I was looking for Marvin and Syed asked me more questions about the lighting set up I was trying to work. Through a series of question, they helped me realize the amount of weight I was trying to put on a tripod would probably not work as the setup would be unstable and possibly unsafe. They helped me figure out that what I was actually looking for was a travel light stand. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the travel light stand that I needed, however this did not stop them from continuing to help me. They contacted another local camera store and after finding out they were sold out as well went as far as to contact a local camera store in San Jose, CA which is where I will be traveling to for my shoot. This entire team went above and beyond just as they always do and it made me realize it was about time I came and left them a review. Thank you Ken, Marvin and Syed! I am so thankful to have District Camera in DC and to be able to count on you all.

J F: I visited the shop today and I was greeted by the nicest employee, Ken! I was a little nervous to go in because I am quite a novice when it comes to photography. Luckily, Ken sensed my hesitation and kindly and patiently walked me through the entire process. I mean the entire process — film, shooting, and setting up my cameras. Also, Ken made sure to let me know what cameras were worth investing. I wish I could give this place 10 stars just because of Ken! I definitely will come back again !

Jon Bauer: In Washington for for a conference and found myself in immediate need of a card reader. Not the easiest thing to find. But when I googled nearby photography stores they came up. Only a couple blocks away. Not only that, I was met with most knowledgeable & friendly staff I could imagine. The store is stocked with new & used equipment. A small downtown oasis!

Alex Baughman: I am a regular customer at this location, but not one to write too many reviews. However, during my latest visit, the staff provided service that made it necessary to write a review. I was almost two months late to pick up my developed photos; against all odds, Ken and Deon found them for me after looking for about 20 minutes. To be clear: they didn’t need to do this; they simply went above and beyond. I’ll look forward to always being a returning customer, especially at a place with such knowledgeable, friendly, and committed staff.

Haresh Mehta: The store without a doubt lives up to the Leica standard. No rush rush sales pressure, no up-selling, just a fantastic educated opinion from Leica Ambassadors. I met with Christopher, he helped me trade in my visoflex and get the new one, completed the paperwork for the service of my m10R, while I enjoyed browsing through their gallery and books. Happy to buy from here and revisit.

C Davidson: Excellent shows and small gallery. Knowledgeable sales rep and they understand the Leica mystique. Helped a friend buy an M10 here with a 50 Summicron and used 28 Elmarit. The Elmarit looked brand new.

Gary Mintz: I bough a Q2M from this store - paying a premium price in the assumption that they would provide premium customer support. Wrong. Even though I was advised to call in with any questions, two days ago I was blown off by the individual who answered the phone. Not only was he "not knowledgeable," but he did not even take the time to understand my question and the advice he gave was counter productive. Hugely disappointing to say the least. Next time I will buy from Amazon or BandH and use online forums for help when needed. In fact, I got better advice from the FACEBOOK Q2M use group. Paying list price at the Leica store in DC was a waste of money.

jamari jay: came in to get some 35mm film. they had a good selection of film at reasonable prices (2 rolls of Portra 160 for ~$21) and they had a great selection of new and used cameras that i couldn't afford even if i dreamed about it the people working there are awesome as they're super duper helpful and friendly. they even invited to demo some of their cameras and their insane bincoulars! would recommend

Werner Paul and his team are superb -- extremely solicitous, considerate and informative, and professionals through and through. Any matter concerning my precious Leica camera or lens was considered and addressed swiftly and thoroughly -- to my complete satisfaction. A photographer could not ask for more, and I remain grateful.

Richard Burg: A great store with great products and a superb staff. Each member of the staff is an accomplished photographer who willingly shares knowledge and technique. Particularly recommended is the individual photography classes offered by David Bickley.

Yahya Aliyu: Recently got into photography and this was the closest pro camera shop to me, conveniently being on campus! I must admit, I've now visited multiple times and received arguably amongst the greatest levels of customer service from any establishment. All staff are incredibly affable, and the passion for photography in the atmosphere is almost tangible. Whether you're looking to buy something, get service, or just talk photography, this is the place!

Jenny Dopkins: The people here are very friendly and nice however I still didn’t have the best experience. I came in aiming to get rid of a specific spot on my camera and was told a sensor cleaning would probably get rid of it. I was later told when I came to pick the camera up that the spot was underneath the sensor and could not be removed with a regular cleaning. This is totally fine and understandable; however, I do not think I still should have been charged around 130 dollars for the sensor cleaning. I wish I would have gotten a call about how the specific spot could not be removed in which case I would have asked them not to go through with the cleaning. I understand how business works and that they may have started cleaning until they noticed the issue. However, to me it felt like a lot of money wasted. And as a student, I was not very happy having to save up to afford this and then spend the money with my problem still present. They are very nice though in terms of customer service although I didn’t complain about this in person so I’m not sure what they would have said.
Response: Hello Jenny, I am sorry to hear you feel as though we have let you down. Without going too far into the details, I am sure that the technician did a thorough job cleaning the camera however without performing that service we would never be able to tell that there is something behind the filter. Some cameras are designed with better sealing than other and some can be more prone to the dust particles penetrating beyond the reach of normal cleaning. It was a necessary service to get to the point of telling you what he did and it is quite likely that he said that in an effort to be informative. I can assure you that when you use your camera its most likely that you will not see the particles in your photo as you had before but we can go over the details with you in depth if you would like to call and discuss it or stop by. We can show you the process for checking your camera so you can always know when your camera needs to be cleaned and some preventative measures to take so it has to happen less often. You can call and talk to Sally. Happy shooting!

Gianina Lash: 100% recommend! came to them with a time-sensitive need for a battery charger for an older DSLR camera that we needed to use for an event 8 hours later. they helped us find a store that had the right type of charger in stock and charged the battery for us in the meantime. So impressed with their service and help when we were in a pinch!

Michael Sanchez: Brought in my Canon AE-1 Program to repair a jam, which they were able to do, albeit expensively (they were very transparent with costs throughout the process). The repair seems to have worked great, however the mirror is now extremely dirty, which is why I’m docking one star. Overall happy with the repair but definitely make sure to check everything before accepting your camera.

Elliott O'donovan: This is my go to camera store in DC. As a professional photographer, I always appreciate the hospitable customer service as well as the great selection of products that are competitively priced when compared to online retailers like Amazon or B&H. I would suggest supporting your local community and buying from ProPhoto!

First Class: I know they've been around for awhile, in fact I used them quite often as a BlackStar photojournalist during the 80's when down in DC on assignment, but I just got off the phone with them.. the agent said she never heard of "Studio Lighting", "Power Heads & Packs, Sales & Services, etc"... and yet they have the audacity to call themselves a Pro-Photo store? .... lol... more like a Wannabe-Pro-Photo store for local small format digital shooters and hobbyists. What happened guys?

Briana Adhikusuma: I've been using Aperturent for about a year now and I can't say enough good things. The employees are great to work with and are super helpful. My rental equipment always comes incredibly clean and in great condition. I never have had any issues with my rental equipment before - everything is always in perfect working order! Their rental prices are also a great deal!

Jami Davis: This was my first time renting camera equipment. I wanted to try a new body and lenses before I buy and this was the perfect opportunity. Initially getting approved took some effort on my part, but it is understandable with the value of the equipment they were trusting me with. This was a one time hassle, but not unexpected. Finding the DC location wasn't easy. It is in an office building with no indication of Aperturent being a tenant. Once I found it everything went smoothly. The equipment was in perfect condition and came in a box that held everything safely. My return was delayed and they were great at communicating and working with me for a late return. I can't rate them highly enough and I will be a repeat customer.

Isaac J: Such a cool spot to rent. They have more than competitive prices without the shipping costs for locals. The only knock is drop offs. They only have weekday hours, so commuting into the city during the work week is tough. I’m hoping they’ll have drop off partners in Virginia and Maryland.

President Trump: I had an amazing experience at this store! I bought a lot of political merchandise and postcards! The owner was helpful, kind, and pleasant. We had a great conversation! This place is truly a hidden gem, it has been in business 49 years and the gentlemen has done a tremendous job with this business. I’ll be back!

Tamim Shams: Just don't west your Money going to this place! So unprofessional.Charging you $16 for two passport photo and this is what i had to do with mine.

Constantin T: I had passport photos done here recently, and they came out great. The owner (and photographer) is very kind and pleasant to work with.

Brendan Brady: I went in to Metro Camera Center to get a passport photo. When I took it to the post office they measured it and said it was not the correct size. I went back to Metro Camera Center to ask for a refund, and the store manager said he could only give me store credit. That is fine, except he was rude and suggested that the only reason I came back was because I did not like the passport photo. I informed him that the post office measured it and said the size was not correct and he proceeded to argue with me. If you are getting a passport photo taken, just do it at the post office. If you need any other camera supplies, there are many other stores who treat their customers better.

Mohammed Ghupta: This place is a great shop. I had an old photo that I could barely see. It was my memory of my mother when she died in Pakistan. The kind old gentlemen helped me right away and helped me get it framed. I also needed a passport photo and he fixed it right away. He is great with this type of technology. I would recommend this place 10/10 times. It is so helpful.

Chiloh Shelton: Do not I repeat do not come to this establishment for any type of photos especially passport photos. The gentleman that runs this establishment could care less about quality pictures and will not give you a refund even if the passport agency tells you that you cannot use the pictures that he takes. I just wasted $15 for pictures that I will have to use as a collage. Your best bet is to go to a CVS or Walgreens for Quality passport pictures.

Daniyal Rahim: I too had a horrible experience getting my passport photo taken here today. Do yourself a favor and listen to all the reviewers and go somewhere else. You deserve better!

John Zhao: Very informal for passport photos. Their attitude is horrible. She ask me to leave for dissatisfying with the unofficial passport photo she took. And it is overpriced, $15 !!! I can get a much better photo in DC at that price.

Steve Minard: This place is useless. Don't get your photos done here. They have a big neon sign in the back saying ONE HOUR PHOTO. Two DAYS later and my pictures aren't even back in the store yet. I don't even need prints! Just a CD! Get your photos developed elsewhere.

Kyle D: One of the only places in crystal city that will do notary on ANY document (wills, power of attorney, etc) - banks don’t do these kind of documents anymore! The gentleman / owner is nice and pleasant. Honestly who does one hour photo anymore though? Quite amazing businesses like this stay afloat. But I come here for all my notary needs!

Jon W.: We went to Dodge Chrome to have holiday cards produced. A family member went in to the store to look at and approve printed drafts. The store gave us multiple different drafts, some of which had radically different and unsatisfactory white balance. We reviewed the results as a family within the next hour or so and immediately called back to ask for clarification. We were just told that the cards were already "printed" and that no changes could even be discussed. Keep in mind that this was on a $1,300 order, and the request for clarification was made two hours after of the visit to the store.
Response: Jon - As you stated, your family member did work with our technician for over an hour on Saturday making adjustments to supplied iphone files - pictures of pictures on a wall to be used on your cards. Photo quality was an issue. Before leaving our store, the cards were approved and paid for in full. As the card files were already at the print station, the technician printed the order to help expedite it - as the majority of our clients appreciate at this time of the year. There was never any discussion of holding off on printing for further evaluation by your family. If the cards had not been printed, we would have been happy to make further adjustments. We appreciate you choosing Dodge Chrome for you holiday cards and we did make every effort to provide the best service possible.

Ally Aretz: This is the first time I thought it would ever be necessary to write a review. If you are getting (specifically) film developed DO NOT GO HERE. I paid $40 for two rolls which was somewhat steep, and then got to the store a week later only to pay another $20! They also said that they would call when the film was ready. I ended up calling a week and one day later to ask how it was going and they said it was ready. Anyways, I go to look at the 72 photos I thought would be developed. For some reason, 24 photos were missing. Definitely will not be going back here.
Response: Like most retail stores these days, we require deposits (if not full payment) on all orders. This payment in advance motivates clients to return and get their orders. Your $40.00 deposit payment covered the cost of processing two rolls of C41 35mm at $9.75 per roll for a total of $19.50 and part of the cost of the proof prints and cd that you ordered. As we can’t anticipate how many frames were exposed, we do not ask for full payment on proof prints in advance. Your two 36 exposure rolls of C41 yielded 60 prints. At .49 cents per print and $6.00 for the CD, your total order with tax came to $58.19, leaving a balance due upon pick up of $18.19. I apologize that you were not contacted with a phone call when your order was ready for pick up. It is a busy retail environment and we do our best to notify clients but focus on clients in the store and current production. We appreciate your patronage and would love for you to give us another try.

Burk Finley: I’ve had random good results in the past, but recently has a horrible print delivered that cost just shy of $200. They don’t have a calibrated profesional monitor in the shop and printing is done at the silver spring location. Silver spring has the properly calibrated monitors, so I was told after the fact. The photo came out super crushed and orange - as though the blue channel was almost eliminated. Pretty awful. After follow up questions regarding recourse they said there is none since I didn’t pay $60 to have a test print done ahead of time. I would highly recommend going to another shop that has a calibrated monitor on premise so you see what you’ll get ahead of time. At least not something radically different than what you may be looking at - as was my case. There are at least 2 such shops in DC. Not professional. Won’t be going back. Update: Within about a week of posting the above review I received a call from the owner, who in fact had looked into what happened before reaching out to me. She confirmed that the orange + red channels had been overly saturated during the printing, and offered to reprint the image. She sent a smaller test print (hard copy) to my house that matched her calibrated monitor, which looked better than what I had. It was great to hear from an owner who called out of concern that my experience did not represent her business, whether I continued to do business with them or not. She cares about accurate photo production and vowed to educate her staff on the newly calibrated monitor in the MacArthur Blvd. shop.

Rachel Minich: Very nice and well informed staff. My experience thus far with having my artwork scanned digitally has been a great learning experience for me. From now on, if I have anything to frame, even if it's a 5 by 7 photo, I will take it here to have "cleaned up". Well worth it! (I took an Inked paw print on a piece of white paper in to have it scanned and photoshopped: once it was scanned in, I saw how yellow the paper was that I used and all of its flaws, and when I got the edited version I couldn't have been happier. The manager is great, as is Dave.

Tierney Brown: Like many who still use film, I have some trust issues handing it over for someone else to process, but Dodge Chrome always does a great job. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and don't mind when I spend way too long gazing at film I just got back on their light tables. Also they cut film into 6's instead of the crappy 5 sheets that are a personal pet peeve. I actually enjoy trekking out to the Palisades to go visit them. I've also used their photo mounting service for a corporate project, and they were so easy to work with an accomodating of our schedule and requirements! The one time I brought them an especially unusual project they kindly looked into it for me before referring me to someone more suitable for the project, rather than doing a less than perfect job, and I really appreciate that as well. These guys are awesome!

Faisal Mohsin: I have had the unfortunate experience of losing a full C6 black and white roll of film which was destroyed during development. I was told this was because the roll became detached from the processing rack while in the developer bath and was not discovered till the end of the processing run, after which the roll could not be salvaged. This was obviously bitterly disappointing. Staff have expressed regret and unrecoverable errors are an unfortunate fact of manual film development. Still, I have not lost a roll of film in many years of shooting on traditional formats. Skilled tradespeople and reliable equipment are becoming harder to find as film has become an enthusiasts hobby. I would recommend going to a specialist who may charge higher prices for this work but who could carry it out with painstaking care than risk immeasurable and unrecoverable loss.
Response: We take great pride in our quality and professionalism. We understand your frustration and are very sorry for this unfortunate situation. Dodge-Chrome has processed film for professional photographers and notable publications, including National Geographic, for over 30 years using this same dip and dunk process and equipment. Dip and Dunk processing is the preferred method for commercial professional film processing. The equipment and chemistry are closely monitored by a highly trained technician who has more than 30 years of experience. Our technician monitors the transports between chemical baths, but because of the nature of the process it is not always apparent that there has been an issue until the processing has been completed and the film rack is transported to the dryer. Unfortunately, like anything else in life, nothing is without possible risk or potential for issue. We are proud to say that we have an excellent track record and that it is extremely rare for us to experience a situation like this.

Alexander Darvishian: Went in to get a few rolls of color 120 film developed and scanned. Ended up being fairly expensive but I was expecting the scans to be good given the reviews. I came back to pick up the film and was given a CD which was an annoyance since it’s such an outdated medium and good, cheap cloud sharing services exist in 2018. Once I finally tracked down a computer with a cd drive I opened the files to find either a booger or a seed or something on one of the scans... Paying about $20/roll for subpar jpegs with “things” in them is completely not worth it. For being the only game in town I would expect better. Looks like I’ll have to ship my rolls up to a lab in philly or nyc to get the job done right. Really a shame.
Response: We do offer the option of file transfer services in lieu of CDs. Without the chance to review, it is impossible to determine the origination of the "things" on "one of the scans". We willing accept the opportunity to correct issues for customers if given the opportunity. Thanks for your feedback.

Erikk Shupp: I understand this place uses a floor sales model and has employees that are subject matter experts on camera, but I can only speak from personal experience. Was looking to buy a new camera stand, granted I was in a bind for time, however there were only about 5 people in the store and 1 guy waiting to be helped before me. Took about 5 to 10 minutes for a store associate to try and help point me in the right direction. I had about 10 mins, knew what I needed but about 30 to 40 mins later, one of the associates had freed up and had to help the other gentleman, at which case I had to leave for time constraints. I don't know if it's the point of sale system or the business model of the business but you might need to staff one more associate or at least have an associate just for sales/quick transactions. I understand the business model but 45 mins with 5 people in the store isn't great throughput in my honest opinion. Had to end up buying from another vendor another day.

Alex Johnson: Unfortunately, I had a encounter where I was deeply disrespected by one of the gentlemen working here. I stopped in to pick up a custom framed gift and was treated as if I didn’t exist. I immediately approached the register to pick up the item and waited for the employees to return to the register. After returning to the register, the employee called for a customer from another area of the store who was behind me to process his transaction first and asked me to step out of the way. I don’t know if it was the fact that I was dressed casually in a raincoat and sweatpants for the bad weather or if it was a matter of his perception of my racial identity, either way, someone waiting at the register should have been helped before someone approaching the line from behind me. I give the other employee from the back of the store credit for recognizing my dismay at the treatment and asking if I was okay. This was, however, not enough to allay the micro-aggression I had experienced. I highly discourage friends and colleagues in Congress and beyond from using the services of this store. If you believe in justice, equity, and fairness, I implore you to find an alternative.

Garrett Arwa: Came here to get a backlog of items framed. There was no wait time, and a few of the items I brought fit into ready-made frames which the they assembled for me on site. This option is recommended as it’s about half as cheap to do a pre-made frame as it is to do a custom with the cheapest frame/glass. But the ready-made frames come with a solid gram and glass, not cheap plastic. The custom jobs are not cheap, but probably about the same price as using Framebridge. Also used the wait time to get a passport photo.

The paper was brittle and looked like it could have fallen apart under the slightest provocation, but they did an excellent job preserving it and the finished product looks great. Refayat Haque: Tony Awad is unprofessional. He made me wait when I took my mom and dad to take passport sized photos taken. Instead of finishing our work first, he didn’t inform us and made us wait to tend to another client. We should’ve been there for 5 minutes max, but ended up staying there for about 20 minutes. Safe to say, I will not be returning here in the future, and I highly recommend others to ensure that he does not leave you waiting and attend other customers.

Timothy D: I should have written this review a long time ago, but hesitated because I don’t it want to affect their business due to my experience. However, after some time to reflect I feel that I should at least warn customers. But, I am sure some had a good experience there. Several years ago I called them to ask what the price was for 4 passport photos, and I was given the price by a worker. Then, after having my pictures taken, the owner wanted double the price. I was suprised, but he said he worked there for 23 years (at the time), and that’s the price he is demanding. But, if I wanted he could give me half the number of passport photos (2) for the price I was quoted. At that time, the worker who answered my call tried to disappear in the back. I pointed to that employee and told the owner, that his employee gave me that price. The owner responded that his employee “just works there”, and “he doesn’t know the correct prices”. I should have not paid for those pictures at the new price, but it was getting late in the day, and I needed them that for my passport the next day, so I decided to pay. Thus, for several years I keep thinking back at this bait and switch tactic used at this business in Arlington VA. Thank you, and I hope your experience was different than mine.

Gina Necula Boera: Photo Scope is also great for getting a portrait done! I just had one done for my work and it's amazing! Toni is very professional and kind. I recommend his services highly!

Chris Shenton: I farted around with a digital camera, office-quality printer, and the Department of State's goofy image editor. Waste of time. Finally wised up and went to Photo Scope: they know how to frame the shot, take a photo without shadows, and print it on good paper. Fast, friendly service and very affordable. Definitely recommended.

Ryan Coughlin: Tony did excellent work in creating my canvas photo a while back. He was engaging, efficient, and is seriously adept with Photoshop.

Aryn Myers: Limelight did a frankly magical job of restoring my great grandparents' wedding photo. The image was circa 1921, so more than 100 years old. It was missing a chunk of the corner and had a lot of damage. The results of the restoration are nothing short of stunning. Both BW and color! Reasonable price for restoration and printing of new copies. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Jonathan Nadler: Roy and Will are talented, patient, and fun to work with. I brought them a set of family pictures — many between 50 and 100 years old — that needed to be restored and harmonized so that they could be framed and hung as an integrated group. This included pictures contained in photo albums from the 40s and 60s as well individual photos. In some cases, the photos had to be significantly cropped to fit the size required. In other cases, the tone and color needed to be significantly altered. Working together, we came up with a set of 12 prints that capture the experience of four generations of my family. I was especially grateful for Roy’s many helpful suggestions and for his willingness to try to implement my evolving ideas — even if it sometimes took a few tries to get a result that I was happy with. Considering the skill and effort that they made to help me realize my vision, I think their prices were reasonable. I hope to have the chance to work with them again.

Nada H: Excellent customer service. Roy and staff were very professional. I brought in an 8 x 10 family photo for restoration. The photo was slightly faded. Roy informed me that the photo was copy of the original photo but he could restore the copy to make it look like original photo. The restored photo came out perfect! I am very happy with the final product and amazed by his skills.

James Sinopoli: I have to say that I was skeptical that much could be done to restore this very old and faded photograph. It was in such bad condition I thought anything would be an improvement. What Limelight returned as a proof was AMAZING. I am more than happy with the results. They did a fantastic job, stayed in communication with me, and were upfront with me from the get go about what they could and couldn’t restore. I will definitely use them again and wholeheartedly endorse their services for anyone looking to restore old photos.

Crystal: You won't be disappointed if you're looking to have any damaged or old photos restored. Roy and staff recently restored a photo for me. The photo that I originally submitted was only 1" in size and the details of the photo were very blurry. Roy was able to enlarge the photo, add more dimension and detail and bring the photo to life. I ordered a 4x6 hard copy of my photo, so it was mailed to me. The photo was well packaged and it arrived quickly. When I opened up the envelope I was absolutely shocked. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect! I'll definitely be going back to them for any other photo restoration projects that I may have in the future.

Deanna Belli: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueThey have restored a number of our very old and damaged family photos. All turned out superbly, but one restoration in particular was nothing short of miraculous since they were able to reconstruct perfectly the image of part of a chair and a child’s leg (the image of course!) that had been eaten away by mildew. I highly recommend them.

Sekou Bah: Limelight Restoration did an outstanding job on my parent's wedding pictures from 1980's, along with some childhood and photos from the 60-70's. I was stunned at how perfect the pictures were able to be restored, they look like we took a camera from this century and went back in time! The service was quick and affordable, the colors came out perfect. I look forward to working with them again to bring more of my families pictures back to life!

jingwatube: I believed those good reviews and went to the shop. I was there at least 3 times, most of them were bad experiences. Yesterday I was there to print pictures, 15 minutes job took me 45 minutes. Till the last minute the "technician" still don't know what's the problem and how to fix it. It was I - a client - suggested to him to use an extra usb flash to resolve the issue. I explained to him that I wanted passport like photos, even specifically showed to him what's the size of head in the picture that I wanted. Today I went to get the printouts and found those pictures were totally unacceptable. Not only the size of the heads were not what I wanted, but the heads are not even whole. They refund me the money of course with no problem, but they tared those pictures in front of me in pieces like those pictures meant nothing to me. Seem to me very unprofessional. I'm sure some of their works worth the 5 star those reviewers gave to them. But I got only 1 star services. May be they have double or even multiple standards for their shop policy. This shop always give me an impression that they don't care to have my business. Whatever I cannot do by myself, they cannot do neither or they can only do it in a ridiculous high price - or I better don't bother the shop. I regret that I donated some of my used and brand new camera related items to this shop. Most likely I won't bother this shop any more. It never happened as in their reply that "you would have seen the on the Kiosk before they were ordered/printed". If I had seen the output on their machine I'd never put the order at first place.
Response: I am sorry you feel that way, we try hard to help all of our customer with the utmost professionalism and go out of our way to be courteous and go the extra mile.. First, as a store policy, we we always destroy returned customer pictures before throwing them away to protect the privacy of our customers and the subjects of the pictures. We tried to explain to you that the pictures that you got, you would have seen the on the Kiosk before they were ordered/printed and that is what we delivered. If you did not like the option, you could have told us at the time and we could have made a passport like picture or custom picture for about 10 times the cost you originally paid. These options were discussed with you today, and It was clear from the conversation that you were not interested in any of them, and that is why we refunded your money without any questions. We try to help ALL of our customers.. that is our passion and our purpose and again, we sorry you are not happy with what you received from Dominion Camera

Sherry Garay: I am an amateur photographer and I used to drive out to Burke to another local camera shop. I decided to give Dominion a try, and I am so glad I did! This is a locally owned “mom and pop” business and it feels good to support a small local business, instead of putting more money in the pocket of a man who wants to play around in outer space. The staff at the store are super knowledgeable. One of them used to work for Canon and can tell you everything you need to know about Canon gear. They helped me make my decision on moving to a new mirrorless camera. I believe they are the only local shop that does their film developing on site. They also do black and white developing by hand. My prints look better than they have in years! They also sell an array of cool films to play around with. I picked up a roll of Dracula film from Romania. They also take passport photos and guarantee them as acceptable by the State Department. I also just found out their classes have started back up and they have a studio space upstairs they rent out. Seriously, if you are a pro photographer or just an amateur like me, then support this local business. This is a great camera shop, with just about anything you could possibly need, including a used gear bargain shelf!

Jessica Border: Who ever said the customer service was good is delusional. I went in to get my film developed. He asked me if I wanted prints or digital and I said both. He told me that he can’t do both and if I wanted it, I need to do prints first, then when I come to pick up, I can order the digital copies. He was so rude to me. I won’t ever come hear again, I was literally about to walk out from the horribleness if this experience, which is a real shame.
Response: Hello. I am sorry you feel that way. We can definably do prints and digital files to USB or CD but we no longer are able to combine internet uploads and prints. You see, we used to offer upload and prints, but then people never came in to pick up the pictures. When we called customers to ask them to pick up their prints, they would tell us that after after they saw the digital images they did not want the prints and told us to throw them away. since the prints were not paid for we lost money on the prints In order to keep our costs under control, We had to make the difficult decision to stop that combination. The good thing is that once you get your digital files you can go to our website dominioncamera.com and order the prints you want. Again, I am sorry if my staff did not explain this well to you but we are committed to help our customers at all costs. Mike Tike: Gary is the best. I was looking for ZV-E10 ( sold out everywhere you can check that right now) but I swore it was sold out. He told me hd actually had one and the color I wanted. He looked all over the store and finally found it. That’s customer service you won’t find at Best Buy. I’m so happy with my purchase this is the only place I’m going to for camera equipment and vlogging gear.

W Russell: I found this place by walking around Falls Church. For a photographer or anyone interested in any level of photography, this place has it all! Prices are reasonable and the customer service is 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!! Gary, the owner, is super friendly and knowledgeable in his products. GREAT PLACE!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Keep up the great work Dominion!

Michael Ryan: Really good experience over several visits to Dominion Camera. The team, especially Gary, are really knowledgeable and helpful. Some highlights: - Fixed my film camera for free after taking it in - Good film development and quick turnaround - Spent several days and hours going over a new camera to purchase. They were helpful and patient to make sure I got what would fit my needs. Highly recommend.

Daniel Ramirez (NiceWaffles): I've been here a few times, out of all of the camera stores I've been at so far. These have been the nicest people. That may not be shocking but if you visit some camera stores in DC, the staff aren't so nice over there. But these people here at Dominion camera so really kind and helped me select which lenses to purchase for my camera I highly recommend this shop! My favorite camera shop :)

Jim Arnold: I'm not a camera guy, nor am I that much of a tech guy in general. All I know is that I had a giant bag of film that I inherited from my late mother who never got around to developing it. Dominion Camera was the only place I found to help me develop/scan all of it, and their customer service and staff won me over the whole time. As simple as each transaction was, they made me enjoy stopping in and took care of me the whole way through (and made sure I didn't get charged for scans on blank film!). My bag of film is now empty and I wish I had a reason to continue giving this hometown shop my money; I really appreciate them.

sahra ahmad: I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while now. I love supporting small businesses, and this one is one of my favorites. It is right near my office and taking my film to get developed and print is so nice. I appreciate that unlike the big corporations (CVS, Walmart, etc) they only make you pay for the photos that they found, so if a piece of film was bad, they don’t charge you for a print of that. I also enjoy that it is so quickly done! Unlike the big corporations that take up to like 2 weeks, they took only a fraction of that time. The quality of the picture paper was nice too- I always go with a matte finish. Nicest people ever work there, and overall I would highly recommend! I know this sounds like a fake review, but I promise this is 100% legit. I can’t wait to take more of my film to get developed.

Cory Concha: Outstanding film processing, much better than any pharmacy service, and they're capable of same day service if you drop off your film by 10 am on the days they process. Definitely the highest quality prints and scans I've ever gotten and for the same price as the pharmacy locations who take two weeks and never return your negatives. With that said I interacted very sparingly with the staff and have not used any other services/purchased any other equipment from them, so I have no perspective in that regard. But I can safely and highly recommend them for film processing.

Jt Thompson: The staff here is so amazing! So helpful and attentive. They hold equipment release gatherings, meet and greets, and educational workshops. When you rent from them, for all intents and purposes, your project becomes their project. They see that all your equipment is in top order and that all your needs are met. R Doss: I had DC-Camera a really great experience while renting quasar science rainbow lights from here. The reservation was quick and easy online. The staff helped out with the setup of these light and provided the clamps for mounting to the C stands at no extra charge. Highly recommend them for your next shoot

hav mercy: listen call this man Mr Egan show some respect, he’s the best in the area. His prices are the lowest i’ve ever been to and i bike from southeast washington dc just to drop of rolls of film. color or black & white, it doesn’t matter call Mr Egan at 10am or so and be polite and he’ll make anything happen for you, often times same day return on 35mm development (this is the service i ask for, he also develops 120mm/medium format)

Sung Hwang: The owner is the best. He’s a good man. Very passionate about art. He will go out of his way for his customers. He truly understands what customer service means.

Ana Djevenica: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ValueI went to this photo studio to redo my passport photos after they turned out horrible at another place. I was able to approve the photo before having it printed unlike the other place. The owner is very friendly and professional. They take baby photos too.I'm very pleased!

Yan C: I highly recommend this shop for anyone looking to get passport photos done in the area. I've used CVS and Walgreens in the past not only are they overly priced, the pictures don't even come out good. The passport photos here are professionally taken by the owner of the shop who is very welcoming and friendly.

Jay Steere: Needed a set of non-US passport photos and the owner knew the dimensions off the top of his head. The photos took a little time to develop (6 mins.) but they were worth it. I haven't had great luck with CVS or Walgreens where these photos are always an afterthought.

Veronica Czastkiewicz: We took passport photos here about three months ago. We had to retake them several times (the owner does let you review them before printing) and in the end, the State Department sent our application back saying that the photo was of poor quality and had red eye... so now we have to re-do them somewhere and wait who knows how long to get our passports.

Saqib Khan: The owner is very friendly and helpful. I needed 10x13 prints and he was able to get me very high quality photos very quickly.

Andy Anderson: Very friendly photographer. Egan was fast and cheerful, and my passport photos were done within minutes.

Local Guide: Best photographer in neighborhood. Professional and affordable.
