Art Studio Blue Giraffe: what do users think?

Loushnikova Ekaterina: We had a wonderful painting class this Saturday and we are going to go for felting class to do wool painting, water coloring and to have intellectual discussion during a session. I is perfect for weekend to spend time with your friends doing art projects and to have some drinks. I recommend to call in advance to figure out available time

Eugene G: This review is for the Germantown location. This school is a great school for learning and practicing the Russian language as well as math, also with an excellent art program. The teachers are very kind and knowledgeable. It’s competitively priced and I highly recommend.

Anna Banana Arts and Crafts: what do users think?

Melissa Nitti: My 2.5 year old and I both love and look forward to weekly art class at Anna Banana. Her light-filled, cozy studio is a delight and her projects are thoughtful, creative and age-appropriate. Miss Anne teaches art but also gently instills soft skills like listening, tidying up, independence etc. She’s also taken a thoughtful approach to Covid precautions - we felt safe and comfortable. Can’t say enough good things about our experience - thank you, Miss Anne!

Kami Stark: You would not believe the magic that happens in this tiny studio. Anna Banana is a mastermind of creativity and you will be AMAZED at the true works of art that your littles bring home. We have had our two kids enrolled in classes her for over 4 years. I have at least 5 pieces of their art professionally framed. In the "before times" you were able to sit in the studio and partake in class with your kid. The atmosphere is rich with creativity and wonder. I cannot recommend enough. Do it do it do it. You will keep coming back. *Oh, and it doesn't hurt that there is a Starbucks and a fancy french bakery right next door"

Quinn Dang: I would give Anna Banana Arts and Crafts 10 stars if I could! Anne is a gifted instructor and creates incredible art lessons each week. I’m amazed with each class how creative the themes are — one time we learned about Alexander Calder and stabiles and the two year olds made impressive stabiles that looked like real works of art. It’s the activity that my daughter looks forward to the most each week. One of the best classes for toddlers and a real gem in the city.

Elizabeth Lewis: My 4-year-old has loved Anna Banana! She takes art classes once a week after school and also did the summer camp there. She's learned about artists over the course of history and mimics their styles as part of the learning fun. She loves going here every week, and I recommend it highly. Anne is wonderful and caring, and my daughter adores her.

Bronwyn Dalton Clark: My 6 year old was enrolled for one semester and the experience was delightful. She came home with art that was so impressive and fun that several pieces are framed and around the house now. Anne, the teacher, has such a joyful and creative approach to teaching, children are immediately comfortable, engaged and entertained by the experience. Highly recommend!!

Samira Sabulis: Well organized, fun and creative.

NYSA | New York School of Arts: what do users think?

Stephen Gillen: My daughter got (in her mind) a late start to the college prep portfolio process: she started in December of her HS junior year. The NYSA director was very specific with her that it would require hard work and persistence to achieve her college admission goals. That frank discussion lay the groundwork for an amazing collaborative process between the staff and amazing instructors that helped her achieve her admission dreams. With NYSA's guidance and instruction, she branched into fashion design, garment construction, and assembling a competitive portfolio. Seeing her sketches come to life was incredible. Our family cannot recommend NYSA enough to any parent/student who wants the utmost professional environment to nurture creativity, whether your goal is art for the sake of art, or preparation for college admission. Thank you Ms. KJ and Ms. Ann, you helped another young person's dreams come true.
Response: Dear Stephen, Thank you for your sweet review. It was our pleasure to work with your daughter! We are so happy and excited for her that she got into her top choice of school. She worked so hard in the past year. All her hard work paid off well. Thank you for working hard with us :) We wish all the best for your family.

Jey Kim: My kindergartener loved going to this school! I could tell how much his creativity was expanding after each visit. My son had so much fun and had an amazing experience in camp. I can tell from his artwork and the stories he shared when I’d pick him up that he had a blast and how much his creativity enhanced. He was always excited to go to art school to see his teachers and new friends and create something new. I especially appreciated the guidelines the teachers shared, but still encouraging unique ideas and creativity that each child possesses. Seeing him share his happiness made us abundantly certain that sending him here was the right choice and I’d recommend to anyone to at least try out a class.
Response: Dear Jey, Thank you so much for sharing your kids' artwork and your review with us :) We miss your son so much! It is great to hear that he had a great time in our classes. We are looking forward to seeing him in summer classes and summer camps~!

Phuong Ly: My daughter found NYSA by lucky chance after having bad experience with another studio. NYSA has been a blessing for her college application process. She started her portfolio path just after starting at NYSA and that was towards the summer of her Junior year. NYSA as a whole unit is amazing;teachers, administrators and background teams work day and night to make your goal a reality. The experience to me feels like a college setting. The guidance and encouragement my daughter received at NYSA built her confidence. She been accepted to the schools she applied. Her experience from NYSA will be with her at whichever school she ends up. Many thanks to NYSA, she could never have done it without you.
Response: Hello Phuong, Thank you so much for your review. We are very proud of your daughter's accomplishments. It was great to work with her and to witness her improvement over the past year. All her hard work paid off! Congratulations!

Sarah Naidich: I took the Portfolio Prep and Digital Portfolio class at NYSA, and these classes have helped me more than I could've imagined! In just a few months, my art skills and work ethic improved greatly. The teachers were extremely helpful, they were always discussing with students and helping students with their artwork. The teachers also made sure that my portfolio and college application process was on track, allowing me to complete a full portfolio with artwork at the highest quality. I wish I joined NYSA sooner, and I would definitely recommend it anyone interested in pursuing art!
Response: You are amazing! Seeing you join from last summer and improving day by day, it's very impressive! Especially the last video project, you open your heart to experiment different ideas and media. We are happy and proud of you. You are a true artist. Congratulations!

Zoe Gordiyenko: I have been a student at NYSA for longer than I can remember and I am so grateful for the creative and professional environment that the staff create for all their students to reach their goals. The portfolio program is exceptional in preparing high school students for the colleges of their choice while building connections and life skills. Students have the freedom to choose their concentrations and the directors, teachers, and guest instructors push them to work their hardest. I am so thankful for all of my experiences at NYSA, I never would have worked this hard without them and in the end it all payed off! If any high school student is looking for a studio to build and expand their artistic skills/knowledge, NYSA is the first and best place I would recommend!
Response: Hello Zoe, Thank you and congratulations! Your consistent hard work has paid you off~! We are so proud of you and are glad we could be part of this whole joy. Keep going for your future!

Swati Shah: My daughter absolutely loves NYSA classes (sculpture, painting and drawing and sewing). We recently had her 8th birthday party at NYSA and they did an amazing job throwing her the best sewing party ever!! All of her friends enjoyed the project and were thrilled with the beautifully decorated party room. Highly recommend NYSA for a fun, stress-free birthday party!
Response: Dear Swati, Thank you for your review! We had a great time with your daughter and her friends at the sewing party! They are all great artists~! Hope to see you guys at our classes and camps :) Thank you!

Kristen Anstrom: My 5 year old daughter just did Spring Break camp there and loved it. She was really engaged, came home every day so excited about all the artwork she got to create. They even made puppets and did a puppet show. The camp was run very efficiently and I felt totally safe leaving her there for the half day. We will definitely be doing more classes and camps with NYSA.
Response: Hi Kristen, Thank you so much for your great review. It is great to hear that your daughter had a great time at our spring break art camp. We hope to see her soon at our classes and camps. Thank you.

Chloe: I'm a former student of NYSA and it was an amazing school! I am so grateful to the teachers who allowed me to improve my techniques and skills. For portfolio, the teachers will push you as hard as possible but it is necessary to improve. Overall, I would highly recommend this school for anyone who wants to take art more seriously in college and as their future career.
Response: Congrats Chloe! You MADE it~! We are so happy and excited for your success. You joined the class at the last minute but you proved that nothing is impossible if you work hard enough. Good job! Keep up the good work!

Ming: NYSA is the best studio for art portfolio preparation. We'd tried many other art studios in the past but haven't been to one with teachers as dedicated as the ones at NYSA. The studio helps develop your portfolio based on your specific major and career goals while honing your creative and technical skills. Director KJ and her team are incredibly helpful in producing high quality art portfolio and knowledgeable about application process for all art colleges and programs. KJ is encouraging, supportive, patient and always motivate my daughter to work harder. She is the best teacher we could ever ask for. I am so grateful for everything she has done for my daughter during the whole process. Thank you KJ and NYSA for such a wonderful experience. I highly recommend the studio!
Response: Thank you so much for your review. We are all very EXCITED and HAPPY about your daughter's admission's results! She is such a fantastic student, artist and designer! All the teachers miss her and still talk about her and her artwork a lot in the class hahaha~! We wish her all the best, congratulations!

GUELAGUETZA VAZQUEZ ORTIZ: We live close by to the school but have never take any classes here, I got a recommendation from a friend and it was really a pleasure for my kid to be in their Sprig Camp. The school is just great and the teachers are very professional and nice with the kids. The art that my kid did was great, she was introduced to several techniques, like sculpting, printing, acrylic, watercolor and they even made puppets!!! Highly recommended!!!
Response: Thank you for your 5 star review. We are glad to hear she enjoyed our spring camp! We are looking forward seeing her our art classes or summer camps. :)

The Children's Art Studio: what do users think?

Carlotta Bartolini: Nicole is an amazing teacher - she loves her students and gets creative for every camp. The quality of the Children's Art Studio classes is very high, and kids really have the chance to improve their personal and artistic skills while having tons of fun. Thank you, Nicole, for these amazing courses and for the tuition-free program for the students in Ward 7. Everyone should have access to art!
Response: Thank you Carlotta. We aim to serve.

Kathleen Krepps: My sons have been going to the Children's Art Studio since they were toddlers--first the mommy and me classes, then workshops and camps on their own, and now the pandemic online version, which is fabulous! I have always appreciated the calm and creative space, but never more than now. The children make beautiful creations and they love it. The studio is inclusive and welcoming for kids with disabilities and at all different ages and levels. The Zoom classes work so well--better than anything else the kids are doing online. We get some elusive quiet and serenity during class! Highly recommend.

Rebecca Galen: My 5 year old son looks forward to class every week--he talks throughout the week of how he will finish or add to his current project or wonders what materials they will create with next. It is wonderful how Nicole creates projects working with all different types of materials and uses the children's creativity to design a one of a kind pieces to bring home. Added bonus is all the mess happens out of the house! Nicole teaches the children about art, inspires their creativity and is a wonderful, caring person.
Response: He adds so much to our class room and studio. Thank you.

Ernest Fischer: My daughter has been in the toddler class for over a year now and has really enjoyed it. She has done a huge number of projects and my wife and I have loved seeing what’s new each week. I think the instructor does a great job of planning and organizing.
Response: Your daughter is a wonderful artist. She has created so much beautiful work. I feel the arts will be a part of her life for a long time. Thank you!

Joelle Ziemian: My daughter attended a one-day class and it was disappointing, given the high cost ($95 for 5 hours). The instructors were very young - and although the kids did a lot of activities, it was not serious; more like crafts than art. Some of the attendees were really badly behaved and completely uninterested. This is probably for children closer to 5 or 6 than 8 or 9.
Response: Thank you very much for your feed back. At the Children's Art Studio we strive to offer the highest quality instruction in a supportive upbeat environment. We teach a wide range of skills and include technical lessons, (with rigorous, specific instruction), and more open ended lessons where the students get to experiment with cool raw materials. Overall, (and over the course of a few workshops and classes), I think we provide a good mix. I'm so sorry that your daughter felt the workshop she attended had too strong of an emphasis on the open ended projects. In my opinion, and after teaching for decades, I feel there is value in both approaches. I am also sorry that your daughter felt that some of the other students were not engaged or badly behaved. We are committed to creating a safe, calm, structured, invigorating studio space where every child feels safe and valued. Again, on the whole, I think our classroom management is excellent. Our teachers are experienced and passionate about bringing the joy of art to young people. Nonetheless, I am sorry that your daughter had a less than stellar experience. I hope you will try us again so that she can experience the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes from making art, and that your family will know the magic that keeps families coming back to the Children's Art studio year after year.

Mary Galeti: Our daughter loved the classes and we loved the art projects that came home. Nicole was a wonderful teacher!
Response: We appreciate you sending your talented child to work with us. We look forward to many more great days at the Children's Art Studio!

Washington Glass School: what do users think?

JANET SCHAFFEL: Three friends and I took the Welding for Dummies class. It was fantastic. Three sessions. Well thought out progression including a didactic portion (the different types of welding, etc), learning and practising basic welding skills, and overcoming the initial daunting nature of this process. The second class covered somewhat more advanced techniques, comparative use of different machines and more practise. For the 3rd session, we were given free reign to use any of the various available metals to design and create a welding project that could be completed within the 2 hour time frame. Erwin is extremely knowledgeable and experienced, organized, communicates well plus is approachable and affable. His course provided a good balance of his giving instruction and his observing our efforts with periods where he gave us free range to experiment with the many (fun) gadgets in the shop. He was there for advice and encouragement but not helicopter-like oversight. It is a great introductory course that will help you decide if you have the passion to invest in it as a hobby. Even if you don't, it is time and money well spent for an interesting, fun and creative experience.

alex Ivanitsky: I recently took the intro to welding class and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to see what welding is all about. It is the perfect mix of information and first hand experience that has you starting to weld the first day. Erwin is a friendly and knowledgable teacher who explains concepts well and provides materials for you to continue to learn on your own. Enjoyed the class, well worth the cost. It has given me the confidence to buy my own welder and continue to learn.

Katie McKenzie: The MIG welding class with Erwin was a blast. After easing into the basics on your first day, you’re walking home with a finished project after your third class. They also offer studio hours, so once you take the class and want more time to weld, you can plan time to visit and use the studio.

Heidi Pendergast: I took the 3 day MIG welding class and it was fantastic. I had no experience welding prior to this class, but after getting some information the first day, we jumped in and started to weld. Erwin (the teacher) also provided info and suggestions on tools to get started as a novice. You also finish a small project by the third class. Highly recommend this school and this class.

Max Holtzman: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, ValueI took the MIG welding class with Erwin. Great teacher and a lot of fun. I knew nothing about welding before I started and now have a sold background of information to keep getting better.

M McNaughton: Great class. Highly recommend. After 3rd class familiar w MiG welding w gas and without and plasma cutter. Erwin is an excellent instructor!

Jason Carvalho: Took a beginners welding class here that was awesome. Erwin, Audrey and other assistants are all super knowledgeable and you come away with a cool little project at the end of week 3. All materials and equipment are provided.

Duke Ellington School of the Arts: what do users think?

Gina Lee Thomas: My daughter is a freshman at Duke Ellington. She has wanted to attend the school since she was six years old. She LOVES it. Duke Ellington School is such a wonderful experience for these children. Kids who are driven by the arts are special. These kids find it difficult to navigate in some school environments. Ellington is a place where they not only survive…they thrive!

Artworks Fine Art Studio: what do users think?

Connie Hyde: Artworks Fine Art Studio was a wonderful match for our 6 year old daughter - she loves art and your camp provided a great opportunity for her to spend time doing what she loves. She was kept busy and taught new approaches to using her creativity. Also the signing up and location are very easy! Hope to have her enrolled next summer!
Response: Hi Connie, thanks for the review. We loved having her here and look forward to seeing you back. I posted a pic on google of her first pastel drawing at Artworks. Beautiful ice cream piece perfect for this hot summer:) Have a great rest of your summer Thanks Owen

Allison Gilmore: Our daughter has been taking classes at ArtWorks in McLean for 9 months and has made a lot of progress and built her confidence as an artist. It's the one activity she participates in that she truly loves. Owen and all the teachers provide a supportive environment for children to explore their creativity AND learn good technique.

Taylor Lee: Absolutely loved my time in Julie's adult painting class. 10/10 recommend taking her class! (Note I worked with oil paints, however people in the class worked with tons of different mediums)

Kenia Guerr: My kid loved it!!

Smithsonian Associates: what do users think?

Bec215 H.: One of my earliest memories is a behind the scenes tour of the Smithsonian natural history museum at age 5. Still love the museums, but the Resident Associates programs are an amazing way to add a new dimension to life-long learning, beyond reading books or watching videos. The pandemic has made far more events accessible to us, as all content has moved to Zoom, and I hope the SA leadership will recognize the value of continuing to offer virtual programming beyond the pandemic time. As for content, we've enjoyed everything from a lecture on Mongolian history we attended a few months prior to our trip to Mongolia to beginning drawing, to a lecture on the history of American food culture since 1850. My mom is 75 and disabled, but still curious about the world and wanting to learn, and she loves loves loves these events - it gives her new things to learn and piques her curiosity about the world, and also gives her things to talk about with family and friends that enrich her social life. I've noted the lack of cultural diversity especially in the history/literature-related programming, and would like to see more Asian history and arts content. For me the issue of content diversity is separate from the value the content that they produce and the quality of it, which so far has been nothing but outstanding. Engagement is what motivates change, so I hope as membership grows and diversity expands, so will their programming.

Jennifer Gelman: My husband and I have been members of the Smithsonian Associates for quite a few years now. We almost always enjoy the programs and trips, although a few have been duds. Tonight's program was celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Sound of Music. You can attend programs without being a member, but members get discounts on all of the programs. Many of the lectures are at the Ripley Center (where the African and Asian art museums are). The lecturers are experts in their fields.

Kenya Allmond: I've attended many of the Smithsonian Associates programs over the years. They are always informative and engaging. One of my favorite programs featured an astronomer who. along with his team, examines the sky in famous paintings and could tell you the day in history that the paintings were composed. It was an excellent melding of arts and sciences.

Julia Thomas: Registered for online classes but they've been sending the zoom links to someone else's email address. Missed the classes. Customer service of no help. Wasted $200.

Eric Epstein: We have been museum members for almost 20 years. We love the culture, the talks and experience.

Georgette Dorn: Tried to through by phone or email to ask for information about Studio Art classes. No luck. Website and phone tree most unhelpful.

Bikramjeet Singh: If it will be live video then it will be awesome

Jim Blount: Awesome history of the great USA. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at GW: what do users think?

Hilda Kroll: The current exhibit has some very interesting photos, paintings, and sculpture. It would have helped so much to have some information about the pieces.

Austin Graff: The Corcoran School of the Arts and Design is in the old Corcoran Museum flanking the Executive Building by the White House. It's centrally located in Washington, D.C and a beautiful space. It's in an old building set up like a museum making the school's art shows out of this world. There are spiraling staircases, courtyards and room after room of beautifully designed art. If you get invited to an event here, say yes!

Gigi G.: Attended a graduate open house and learn a lot about the program and met some staff of other programs and they were fabulous to hear from.

Yesica Suarez: Architecturally, the buildong is awe inspiring. I think it really captures your eyes. The exhibitions for the Lone Prairie, Breaking Cultural Boundaries, Cartoons and the Color exhibitions were interesting. They definitely were trying to tell a meaningful story. I think the cartoon exhibit was successfully set up, but the others needed more content and guidance to trully unfold. There's ton of space to work with in the building so it needed to be used effectively so it wouldn't feel empty

Luis B: Corcoran School is mainly focused on promoting the arts. Friends of mine who have attended the college have had both good and bad things to say based on their experiences. One of the pros of the school is the events and gallery showings that often take place within it's walls. If you're a DC native, or city walker, you may want to check up on Corcoran and see what's going on from time to time.

Asad Jan: The Corcoran Gallery of Art was an art museum in Washington, D.C. Prior to its closing, it was one of the oldest privately supported cultural institutions in the United States capital. Starting in 1890, a museum school, later known as the Corcoran College of Art + Design, co-existed with the gallery. The museum's main focus was American art. In 2014, after decades of financial problems, the Corcoran entered into an agreement with the National Gallery of Art (NGA) and the George Washington University whereby almost all of the gallery's 17,000 work collection was placed under the care of the NGA, while the school and historic 17th street gallery building continued operations as a part of the George Washington University's new Corcoran School of the Arts and Design.

Yaser AlSaghrji: One of the architectural gems of the Nation Capital

Es K: Saw a phenomenal end of year exhibit some years ago

Nik Novakkain: So much talent and this is one of the best schools/museum

Arnold Thomas Bigger: Course selection is very good; faculty and staff are very good; and general vibe is good.

M Institute for the Arts: what do users think?

Elinor Huang: I had a consultation class there with a good piano teacher, she was wiling to work with my schedule and verbally committed to a recurring Sunday afternoon class with me. So I registered at the school immediately. However, once I paid, the owner Suzanne informed me that the piano teacher couldn't teach me because she's too busy, and asked me to switch to a teaching assistant at a Saturday time slot that doesn't work for me. After a few rounds of messages (they only use Wix messages btw), I just felt frustrated with their scheduling process and the way they pushed me to take the assistant's class. I decided to quit and asked them to refund me the registration fee. Suzanne declined my request and also blamed me for trusting their teacher's words and not reading the registration terms carefully, as I "signed up with the school, not the teacher".
Response: So sorry to hear about your experience! I want to clarify first that you were actually refunded for the registration fee. Your trial lesson was free, so there was nothing further we could refund you. Regarding scheduling, we are not able to dictate schedules to teachers. Teachers make their own schedules and we simply assist them with booking students during those times. We were not willfully withholding the spot from you. In fact, we do everything we can to give students their ideal time slots. In this case, it seems there was either a misunderstanding or something changed with the teacher’s schedule from the time she spoke to you about it to the time you registered. If the teacher had that availability, you would have been offered the time. With online booking, students can grab a teacher’s open lesson times anytime, without speaking to the scheduling team, so it’s very possible someone online grabbed the last spot, or that the teacher simply became unavailable for other reasons of their own. Sundays are very busy for performing musicians, and our most popular lesson day also. In any event, with that teacher not being an option, we offered another comparable instructor that best fit your schedule; that’s the best we could do. As far as communication, I am unsure what Wix Messages is. We use SMS and sometimes email to communicate with our students. Our number is 202-952-2202. Please text us anytime if we can do anything to make your experience a more positive one!

Ivan Tadeu: This is a great place! I was in need of formal cello classes as an adult learner and found this very engaging but unpretentious place where I did not feel intimidated or negatively challenged to do my best. The general approach for teaching music feels accessible and very didactic, and teachers are very approachable and polite and professional. Everyone seems to work towards to a common goal of inspiring people into artistic endeavor, and regardless individual goals that may vary among different students, the approach is based on respecting the needs of individual students who range in different ages and in their time constrains to dedicate to classes. I am in my second semester and happy to support this business. My cello teacher is simply phenomenal. Other teachers are great lecturers so far. And the owner is a competent, hands-on, hard working, engaging music teacher who values students not only as costumers but as potential artists who may carry the name of this institute with them in the future. It has been such a great experience and I am happy and grateful that I can make the most of it.
Response: Ivan, thank you SO much for your kind words and for choosing us for your cello studies. We love having you and Oliver (the cello) and your passion for music inspires those around you. I know we’ll continue hearing great things from you and Oliver! 🎻🎶

Sophie Washington: I can’t say enough good things about M Institute. My lessons are amazing and the people who work here are just lovely. I’ve met so many new friends at their music events and through the semester program and have had the best teachers EVER! I really love that they offer workshops and masterclasses for all levels and that I get to learn from multiple teachers not just about my instrument, but about music as a whole, such as listening for textures and learning what an exposition is. The facility is also really quaint in an old Georgetown rowhouse with a beautiful patio for receiptions and some really nice acoustic pianos in most of the rooms. Online bookings are also a favorite of mine, they even have an app! Can’t recommend M Institute enough!
Response: Thank you!

Tani Murphy: M Institute for the Arts is a warm and kind, family-feel nonprofit conservatory staffed by master professionals, featuring a comprehensive semester program, and a community ambience; I highly recommend it to any person of any age seeking serious or casual music lessons. M4Arts worked with and stuck by me during a major illness, is flexible with scheduling, and every instructor I've taken lessons from has been highly professional at their craft. I take classical voice from CEO and professional soprano Susanna Barasch and occassionally Thomas M. and have made tremendous progress-I've been unlearning bad habits I learned from subpar instruction when I was younger. I also recommend their Beginner's Piano class. The Semester program is exactly what I was looking for. I originally wanted to major in Music years ago but couldn't. The Semester program offers students monthly Studio workshops for performance feedback, Musicianship and other musical skills classes, a recital, and discounts on practice rooms. And if you need practice rooms, M4Arts is the place -they have an ENTIRE floor of practice rooms and are very reasonable compared to the other options I explored. You also don't have to participate in the Semester program if you don't want to, and can tailor your lessons to how often you want to meet - but I find there are financial and educational benefits to choosing the Semester format. I am very happy with my experience and plan to expand into piano lessons as well as in-depth theory and musical composition in addition to voice in coming semesters. There are several options out there in DC, but for me, M Institute for the Arts was clearly the best choice and atmosphere to continue my musical education.
Response: Thank you, Tani!! We really love having you involved and hearing your pretty voice around the conservatory. 🎶🎶🎶

Andrew Margrave: As the piano technician for M4Arts, I have had much interaction with Susanna, all of it very positive. Last night there was a superb master class at the school. The instructors were world-class pianist Thomas Pandolfi, cellist Emma Johnson, and Metropolitan Opera soprano Tracy Cox. Mr. Pandolfi worked with two pianists. Emma counseled a violinist and a cellist, while Tracy, like the other two teachers, showed vast pedagogical skills as she helped four sopranos and a baritone. In addition, she sang beautifully while demonstrating. Mr. Pandolfi closed the whole wonderful evening with a magnificent and magisterial performance of three Chopin etudes, the "Revolutionary", the "Aeolian Harp", and the "Ocean".
Response: Andrew, thank you so very much for this lovely review. Coming from you I know that means a lot. And thanks for always keeping our pianos in great shape 🎹 🎶

Austin Salley: I had a fantastic voice lesson with Thomas. He took the time in the beginning of the lesson to understand my goals and clarify the best path to take for the lesson. He was collaborative throughout the lesson and got me to think about the physicality of my instrument which helped to improve the consistency of the sound. I thought the lesson was well worth it and would highly recommend the M Institute.
Response: Thanks, Austin! We love Thomas too :) Hope to see you back at the studio soon!

Thomas Pandolfi: M Institute is a tiny gem in the heart of a big city. With its new location in the Dupont Circle area of D.C., I'm absolutely confident it will continue to grow in stature and reputation. There is a totally unique ambience, blending elements and atmosphere from the old world style conservatory with a contemporary twist. The President and CEO is fabulously talented, and the quintessential professional. This boutique arts institute will enjoy a great future, and I express my sincere congratulations as well as extend my warmest wishes for continued & well deserved success!
Response: Thank you for your kind words, Thomas!!

Andrea Rabi: Be careful about signing up in this institute!! The first impression it may seem like a great place. And you may find good instructors, however wait until you are registered and need help with any transaction or questions. They provide no access over the phone. The app poorly works, does not have comprehensive info and all you get is texts from people you don't even have access to their names. Susanna, the owner, will offer an open house session, be really kind, and once you registered you will learn how painful it is to deal with her. Inflexible and non responsive.
Response: Hi Andrea, Susanna here. We promptly responded to each and every one of your inquiries. You were aware in advance of registering that we are a very small business and cannot afford a monitored phone line. We, however, do respond promptly to texts and emails. If you need to discuss things via phone, we are definitely not a good fit and I recommend looking for lessons from a much larger organization or franchise. I personally rarely handle scheduling or billing inquires. Our admin team handles those. If you need help figuring the app out, we are always here to help, as is your instructor. We use MindBody for our online bookings and they provide our clients with the app. It is absolutely optional if you prefer their web interface. If you don’t like having to use any online platform, we are also most definitely not a good fit for you. The majority of our clients love it and/or work with their teacher for scheduling changes. You are still more than welcome to use the full value of your account balance for the next year with any instructor or for any class. I have even offered to send an instructor to your home since that seemed to be your preference, which we usually don’t do but I am very motivated for you to be able to use your account balance with us. I and the admin team have not heard from you to-date about setting any of this up. We are very happy to get that going as soon as you’re ready! If you send us an email to join@m4arts.org I’d bet you’d hear back within 1 business day :)

Zachary Dittami: Hello everyone. I thought it important to share an experience I had today. Susanna dismissed my voice teacher and I from the program, after listening in carefully on our conversation through a recording device in the main performance room. On top of being rude and overcharging me throughout the semester, this is a huge privacy issue for me. Please be completely careful as to what you say during lessons - she is listening and capable of terminating your semester program with no possibility of refund. Because my instructor was hearing me out on my complaints about payment, she dismissed him from his duties entirely and will be “consulting her attorney” about his breach of contract. This has been a scary experience to say the least.. I would not recommend anyone to take lessons here.
Response: Hi Zachary, I’m not sure where you got the idea you were being listened to on a recording device, as there were others inside the school at the time able to hear the conversation including myself. In any event you are correct that we have our front waiting room under 24/7 surveillance, which is the room you were in at the time only inches from the front door. Please be aware that your conduct is inappropriate and has many here uncomfortable and worried for their safety, including myself. You were asked to leave the building and program immediately. Thank you for your cooperation doing so. As a result, any due refunds will be processed for the remainder of the semester, for which you were charged the same amount as you agreed and as everyone else who registered.

Akane Vallery Uchida: Used the $75 7-Day Visitor Guest Pass which gives access from 7am to 10pm to all the practice rooms on a first come first served basis. I was pretty much alone throughout the morning and maximised my time on that excellent Kawaii baby grand. Great location with easy access from Dupont Circle station. A bargain if you have enough time to maximise on that offer!
Response: Akane, so glad you enjoyed it. We also enjoyed having you as a guest. For those utilizing the practice rooms a lot, the unlimited usage really is a great deal. And for regular monthly members, it’s even cheaper. Come visit us again soon!

The Art League: what do users think?

Geoff Livingston: The Art League does many great things for the artist community within Alexandria city and its suburbs. I enjoy their gallery and their contest. At the same time, my family has registered for four classes and camps in total, and they have been hit or miss. Plus the league is really bad at communications (like they don't communicate when class will start or if it will be cancelled because of snow), prompting many a nervous phone call. It's a mixed bag.

Maggie Williams: Critical: Communication, Professionalism, QualityClasses are a hit or a miss. A bit unprofessional as there was poor communication . Go to the workhouse art center in Lorton if you are looking for art classes.

C Kuester: Love the Art League. I've taken several classes here and they've been terrific.

B W: I absolutely love this school! I am moving soon and will greatly miss the instructors and even the new friends I’ve made. The instructors are very patient and are passionate about teaching. I have learned so much from attending workshops and several 9 week courses!! I wished I could pick the school up and move it to my new dwelling place, but since I can’t, I will leave an awesome review :) To all the instructors, Thank You! Thank you for giving of your time and knowledge to us the students! We are better artists of all kind because of you! I can only speak for myself, but I grew by leaps and bounds in my craft from being connected to this school! I am ever so thankful for the brilliant mind who was blessed by God to start this school years ago. The education I have received was just as good or better than paying high priced tuition at a university. I pray nothing but continued blessings upon this institution!

Kirk Sigmon: In my opinion, completely unprofessional, and the sole reason why a needy girls' charity won't be able to throw a fundraiser. I won a "corporate retreat" here through a local charity auction, and decided to use it to support a needy girls' charity in Nepal. I let my friends go for free, conditioned on them donating money to the charity. Apparently, that wasn't welcome. I quickly received a threatening call from the Art League, saying that they "never promised" an event, and even threatening to have their law firm prevent me from helping donate to charity! This isn't even to mention the other issues I had trying to set my up in the first place - endless calls to try to set it up, vagueness about what the class actually would offer, attempts to not provide the class in the first place (they kept saying their schedule was too full to offer it at any reasonable time, then offered something ridiculous like 1 PM on a weekday), etc. Needless to say, I'll try to find the charity another venue, but I feel completely scammed.

Sarah Concepcion: It's neat that you can go into an artist workshop and see what they work on. Sometimes they have public exhibitions too that can be interactive even. If you want to buy art though, the price is not cheap.

Nabil Elhalawany: I am a medical Dr. interested in Art.

Latrina Proctor-Jones: Luv Art all forms...😀

Norraine Miller, MS: Really enjoy the visit

Nicky: Great Institute

Ye Art Studio: what do users think?

John Chen: My daughter has been his student for 3 years and she won several local awards under his guidance. Mr. Ye not only teaches drawing skills and technics, but he teaches my daughter to be creative and think out of box. His classes are also very flexible, so you just pay every time you go. I strongly recommend Ye Art Studio.

ArtJamz Studio: what do users think?

Alev “ASJ”: Getting arty was a blast at this place! Checked it out with a friend first for a potential party venue. Had so much fun. Ended up recommending this location as a venue for our company party of 50 people and all who attended had a spectacular time. Owner & staff was a pleasure to work. Price points were within budget and competitive. Lots of options were provided and the graffiti wall was a big hit! Event planning was super easy. Great for group activities. Will for go back for sure and would consider this place for upcoming birthday parties.

Anna: Even for a free class, it was worthless to stay. My kids were participating in kids Euro Festival class "Paint like a Belgian". Regardless of how wonderful the staff was. It wasn't worth staying for even 10 minutes because of the following reasons: 1. All of the paint brushes were far worse than Dollar Store brushes. They're terribly old and completely impossible to use to create anything meaningful. 2. The cops that are used for dipping the paint brushes were super disgustingly old. I did get the ReUse and recycle and you don't need to change your cup every single time somebody uses it but these were just simply gross. 3. the paint is basic cheap Michael's quality for elementary public school 4. Realistically, I can truly live with all of those points above and I would have stayed for the free class for just an hour. But this is the point that completely made me feel this is a waste of time. There was absolutely no instruction of composition or color contrast or anything that is related to art. In this particular class, we were studying a Belgian artist Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon’s painting, ‘Lily, Love Me.” first of all, the teacher didn't even have the painting to show for the kids. Secondly, we didn't discuss anything related to the composition as far as dividing two cannabis in two thirds and talking about the focal points. This particular painting, is a perfect representative of this particular composition technique and realistically that's what should have been covered in the class. Nothing was talked about as far as the history of the painting or the cultural background or the color contrast. Instead, the teacher just simply told the children to draw the lips in the middle of the canvas and drop a horizontal line somewhere randomly without even really talking about importance of the location. Simply put, they were providing no instruction related to art at all. It was a class that taught older kids how to draw a shape of lips... Alright, I get it it's not a professional studio and it's supposed to be purely for entertainment. I do have to say that staff was very friendly and the police had a nice vibe to it.

Allison Sinor: I went there with my BF on a Tuesday night for a Google City Expert event. The venue has two floors with a bar on the first floor. We had two instructors floating around giving us tips and advice on the different type of effects we can do on our canvas. It was a really cool experience to free flow art with a bit of wine and upbeat music playing in the background. I'm not a very artistic person so when I first started, I had no idea what to do. The instructors were super helpful and it turned out to be a very fun time. Who knew painting could be so fun and relaxing! I def recommend this spot whether for a date or group activity.

Melissa C: I visited ArtJamz for the Google City experts event and had such a great time. Super event where you get the opportunity to express your creativity in painting a blank canvas coupled with a lovely adult beverage and then (hopefully) have a lovely piece if art to take with you. The staff were super nice and friendly. Great location near the DuPont Circle metro. I drove and got parking on the block. Would definitely go back. Would be fun to have a party there.

N V: My bf surprised me on a date with this place a couple of weeks ago. We had an amazing time. The guys working there were really laid back and helpful. I remember thinking it was a little pricey given that we bought several drinks, two canvases and studio time but then I remember the supplies and paint arent really apart of the canvas lol suggestion. Would be to maybe include the studio and canvas as a single, slightly lower, price and require a drink each. All that said I would and will, hopefully today lol, return to this place whether the price changes or not. We had a good time.

Krystal Ramirez: I would have given ArtJamz five stars had it not been so unbearably hot when I was there. (I guess they were having HVAC problems?) Despite the uncomfortable temperature, it was still a really fun time, and I would highly recommend visiting. They had a varied beer and wine selection, plus all of the art supplies you could imagine. I brought a picture with me to use as inspiration, and the staff provided excellent feedback throughout the evening with lots of tips and encouragement. ArtJamz would definitely make for a great party or date night -- check it out for yourself!

Stephanie Woo: I came here using a Groupon on Valentine's Day, and had a really fun time. Unlike other painting places I have been to, ArtJamz is more like an open studio. There is no single instructor who teaches everyone to paint the same scene. Instead, everyone gets a canvas and access to paints, books, and roaming instructors, who can help with technique and guiding you to your inspiration. There is also a small bar at the front, so you can drink if you need help getting those creative juices flowing.

Janelle Rucker: After vetting numerous activities and venues to host a bachelorette party, a friend and I settled on ArtJamz for something different, but fun. Everyone loved it, including the bride. The girls who work there were SO helpful in getting the 9 of us situated with painting materials and drinks (mimosas, because, what could be better for a Sunday afternoon of painting with your girls?) To start, the atmosphere in ArtJamz was great, full of creative energy. Even the most novice of painters (me) can feel like Picasso. When it comes to choosing the size of your painting, how long you'll paint, etc. ArtJamz has a ton of packages available as well as a la carte pricing. For instance, we purchased a few of the packages that provided 1.5 hours of paint time (more than we needed), two small canvases and a bottle of wine from their pretty extensive list. We'd booked a private session, so we were set up on the bottom level with a staff member there to help us with whatever we needed - clean brushes, direction, advice, etc. They even played whatever mix of music we requested. In all, our bride-to-be had a memorable experience, we all had a great time and left with evidence of our fun and creative abilities. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to host an event that's out of the ordinary or someone who's just looking for a fun, creative way to spend an afternoon.

Kaleta Arase: Visited my bestfriend in D.C. and she booked a session here...it was an AMAZING experience! We had really awesome guidance from a professional painter (August) and the music sparked our creativity and let us loose! I would do it again for sure!
Response: Thank you Kaleta. Our team of artists appreciates you and your creativity. Keep painting—the world needs more art!

Geoffrey Short: This place was a lot of fun! I organized a private party here and it was really easy to do. Staff was great to work with in setting it up and very quick to answer questions and make accommodations. One recommendation - get there early. The check-in counter doubles as the bar and can get very busy, so it takes a while to get set up, especially for large groups.
