The Children's Art Studio: what do users think?

Carlotta Bartolini: Nicole is an amazing teacher - she loves her students and gets creative for every camp. The quality of the Children's Art Studio classes is very high, and kids really have the chance to improve their personal and artistic skills while having tons of fun. Thank you, Nicole, for these amazing courses and for the tuition-free program for the students in Ward 7. Everyone should have access to art!
Response: Thank you Carlotta. We aim to serve.

Kathleen Krepps: My sons have been going to the Children's Art Studio since they were toddlers--first the mommy and me classes, then workshops and camps on their own, and now the pandemic online version, which is fabulous! I have always appreciated the calm and creative space, but never more than now. The children make beautiful creations and they love it. The studio is inclusive and welcoming for kids with disabilities and at all different ages and levels. The Zoom classes work so well--better than anything else the kids are doing online. We get some elusive quiet and serenity during class! Highly recommend.

Rebecca Galen: My 5 year old son looks forward to class every week--he talks throughout the week of how he will finish or add to his current project or wonders what materials they will create with next. It is wonderful how Nicole creates projects working with all different types of materials and uses the children's creativity to design a one of a kind pieces to bring home. Added bonus is all the mess happens out of the house! Nicole teaches the children about art, inspires their creativity and is a wonderful, caring person.
Response: He adds so much to our class room and studio. Thank you.

Ernest Fischer: My daughter has been in the toddler class for over a year now and has really enjoyed it. She has done a huge number of projects and my wife and I have loved seeing what’s new each week. I think the instructor does a great job of planning and organizing.
Response: Your daughter is a wonderful artist. She has created so much beautiful work. I feel the arts will be a part of her life for a long time. Thank you!

Joelle Ziemian: My daughter attended a one-day class and it was disappointing, given the high cost ($95 for 5 hours). The instructors were very young - and although the kids did a lot of activities, it was not serious; more like crafts than art. Some of the attendees were really badly behaved and completely uninterested. This is probably for children closer to 5 or 6 than 8 or 9.
Response: Thank you very much for your feed back. At the Children's Art Studio we strive to offer the highest quality instruction in a supportive upbeat environment. We teach a wide range of skills and include technical lessons, (with rigorous, specific instruction), and more open ended lessons where the students get to experiment with cool raw materials. Overall, (and over the course of a few workshops and classes), I think we provide a good mix. I'm so sorry that your daughter felt the workshop she attended had too strong of an emphasis on the open ended projects. In my opinion, and after teaching for decades, I feel there is value in both approaches. I am also sorry that your daughter felt that some of the other students were not engaged or badly behaved. We are committed to creating a safe, calm, structured, invigorating studio space where every child feels safe and valued. Again, on the whole, I think our classroom management is excellent. Our teachers are experienced and passionate about bringing the joy of art to young people. Nonetheless, I am sorry that your daughter had a less than stellar experience. I hope you will try us again so that she can experience the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes from making art, and that your family will know the magic that keeps families coming back to the Children's Art studio year after year.

Mary Galeti: Our daughter loved the classes and we loved the art projects that came home. Nicole was a wonderful teacher!
Response: We appreciate you sending your talented child to work with us. We look forward to many more great days at the Children's Art Studio!

Anna Banana Arts and Crafts: what do users think?

Melissa Nitti: My 2.5 year old and I both love and look forward to weekly art class at Anna Banana. Her light-filled, cozy studio is a delight and her projects are thoughtful, creative and age-appropriate. Miss Anne teaches art but also gently instills soft skills like listening, tidying up, independence etc. She’s also taken a thoughtful approach to Covid precautions - we felt safe and comfortable. Can’t say enough good things about our experience - thank you, Miss Anne!

Kami Stark: You would not believe the magic that happens in this tiny studio. Anna Banana is a mastermind of creativity and you will be AMAZED at the true works of art that your littles bring home. We have had our two kids enrolled in classes her for over 4 years. I have at least 5 pieces of their art professionally framed. In the "before times" you were able to sit in the studio and partake in class with your kid. The atmosphere is rich with creativity and wonder. I cannot recommend enough. Do it do it do it. You will keep coming back. *Oh, and it doesn't hurt that there is a Starbucks and a fancy french bakery right next door"

Quinn Dang: I would give Anna Banana Arts and Crafts 10 stars if I could! Anne is a gifted instructor and creates incredible art lessons each week. I’m amazed with each class how creative the themes are — one time we learned about Alexander Calder and stabiles and the two year olds made impressive stabiles that looked like real works of art. It’s the activity that my daughter looks forward to the most each week. One of the best classes for toddlers and a real gem in the city.

Elizabeth Lewis: My 4-year-old has loved Anna Banana! She takes art classes once a week after school and also did the summer camp there. She's learned about artists over the course of history and mimics their styles as part of the learning fun. She loves going here every week, and I recommend it highly. Anne is wonderful and caring, and my daughter adores her.

Bronwyn Dalton Clark: My 6 year old was enrolled for one semester and the experience was delightful. She came home with art that was so impressive and fun that several pieces are framed and around the house now. Anne, the teacher, has such a joyful and creative approach to teaching, children are immediately comfortable, engaged and entertained by the experience. Highly recommend!!

Samira Sabulis: Well organized, fun and creative.

Loushnikova Ekaterina: We had a wonderful painting class this Saturday and we are going to go for felting class to do wool painting, water coloring and to have intellectual discussion during a session. I is perfect for weekend to spend time with your friends doing art projects and to have some drinks. I recommend to call in advance to figure out available time

Eugene G: This review is for the Germantown location. This school is a great school for learning and practicing the Russian language as well as math, also with an excellent art program. The teachers are very kind and knowledgeable. It’s competitively priced and I highly recommend.

NYSA | New York School of Arts: what do users think?

Stephen Gillen: My daughter got (in her mind) a late start to the college prep portfolio process: she started in December of her HS junior year. The NYSA director was very specific with her that it would require hard work and persistence to achieve her college admission goals. That frank discussion lay the groundwork for an amazing collaborative process between the staff and amazing instructors that helped her achieve her admission dreams. With NYSA's guidance and instruction, she branched into fashion design, garment construction, and assembling a competitive portfolio. Seeing her sketches come to life was incredible. Our family cannot recommend NYSA enough to any parent/student who wants the utmost professional environment to nurture creativity, whether your goal is art for the sake of art, or preparation for college admission. Thank you Ms. KJ and Ms. Ann, you helped another young person's dreams come true.
Response: Dear Stephen, Thank you for your sweet review. It was our pleasure to work with your daughter! We are so happy and excited for her that she got into her top choice of school. She worked so hard in the past year. All her hard work paid off well. Thank you for working hard with us :) We wish all the best for your family.

Jey Kim: My kindergartener loved going to this school! I could tell how much his creativity was expanding after each visit. My son had so much fun and had an amazing experience in camp. I can tell from his artwork and the stories he shared when I’d pick him up that he had a blast and how much his creativity enhanced. He was always excited to go to art school to see his teachers and new friends and create something new. I especially appreciated the guidelines the teachers shared, but still encouraging unique ideas and creativity that each child possesses. Seeing him share his happiness made us abundantly certain that sending him here was the right choice and I’d recommend to anyone to at least try out a class.
Response: Dear Jey, Thank you so much for sharing your kids' artwork and your review with us :) We miss your son so much! It is great to hear that he had a great time in our classes. We are looking forward to seeing him in summer classes and summer camps~!

Phuong Ly: My daughter found NYSA by lucky chance after having bad experience with another studio. NYSA has been a blessing for her college application process. She started her portfolio path just after starting at NYSA and that was towards the summer of her Junior year. NYSA as a whole unit is amazing;teachers, administrators and background teams work day and night to make your goal a reality. The experience to me feels like a college setting. The guidance and encouragement my daughter received at NYSA built her confidence. She been accepted to the schools she applied. Her experience from NYSA will be with her at whichever school she ends up. Many thanks to NYSA, she could never have done it without you.
Response: Hello Phuong, Thank you so much for your review. We are very proud of your daughter's accomplishments. It was great to work with her and to witness her improvement over the past year. All her hard work paid off! Congratulations!

Sarah Naidich: I took the Portfolio Prep and Digital Portfolio class at NYSA, and these classes have helped me more than I could've imagined! In just a few months, my art skills and work ethic improved greatly. The teachers were extremely helpful, they were always discussing with students and helping students with their artwork. The teachers also made sure that my portfolio and college application process was on track, allowing me to complete a full portfolio with artwork at the highest quality. I wish I joined NYSA sooner, and I would definitely recommend it anyone interested in pursuing art!
Response: You are amazing! Seeing you join from last summer and improving day by day, it's very impressive! Especially the last video project, you open your heart to experiment different ideas and media. We are happy and proud of you. You are a true artist. Congratulations!

Zoe Gordiyenko: I have been a student at NYSA for longer than I can remember and I am so grateful for the creative and professional environment that the staff create for all their students to reach their goals. The portfolio program is exceptional in preparing high school students for the colleges of their choice while building connections and life skills. Students have the freedom to choose their concentrations and the directors, teachers, and guest instructors push them to work their hardest. I am so thankful for all of my experiences at NYSA, I never would have worked this hard without them and in the end it all payed off! If any high school student is looking for a studio to build and expand their artistic skills/knowledge, NYSA is the first and best place I would recommend!
Response: Hello Zoe, Thank you and congratulations! Your consistent hard work has paid you off~! We are so proud of you and are glad we could be part of this whole joy. Keep going for your future!

Swati Shah: My daughter absolutely loves NYSA classes (sculpture, painting and drawing and sewing). We recently had her 8th birthday party at NYSA and they did an amazing job throwing her the best sewing party ever!! All of her friends enjoyed the project and were thrilled with the beautifully decorated party room. Highly recommend NYSA for a fun, stress-free birthday party!
Response: Dear Swati, Thank you for your review! We had a great time with your daughter and her friends at the sewing party! They are all great artists~! Hope to see you guys at our classes and camps :) Thank you!

Kristen Anstrom: My 5 year old daughter just did Spring Break camp there and loved it. She was really engaged, came home every day so excited about all the artwork she got to create. They even made puppets and did a puppet show. The camp was run very efficiently and I felt totally safe leaving her there for the half day. We will definitely be doing more classes and camps with NYSA.
Response: Hi Kristen, Thank you so much for your great review. It is great to hear that your daughter had a great time at our spring break art camp. We hope to see her soon at our classes and camps. Thank you.

Chloe: I'm a former student of NYSA and it was an amazing school! I am so grateful to the teachers who allowed me to improve my techniques and skills. For portfolio, the teachers will push you as hard as possible but it is necessary to improve. Overall, I would highly recommend this school for anyone who wants to take art more seriously in college and as their future career.
Response: Congrats Chloe! You MADE it~! We are so happy and excited for your success. You joined the class at the last minute but you proved that nothing is impossible if you work hard enough. Good job! Keep up the good work!

Ming: NYSA is the best studio for art portfolio preparation. We'd tried many other art studios in the past but haven't been to one with teachers as dedicated as the ones at NYSA. The studio helps develop your portfolio based on your specific major and career goals while honing your creative and technical skills. Director KJ and her team are incredibly helpful in producing high quality art portfolio and knowledgeable about application process for all art colleges and programs. KJ is encouraging, supportive, patient and always motivate my daughter to work harder. She is the best teacher we could ever ask for. I am so grateful for everything she has done for my daughter during the whole process. Thank you KJ and NYSA for such a wonderful experience. I highly recommend the studio!
Response: Thank you so much for your review. We are all very EXCITED and HAPPY about your daughter's admission's results! She is such a fantastic student, artist and designer! All the teachers miss her and still talk about her and her artwork a lot in the class hahaha~! We wish her all the best, congratulations!

GUELAGUETZA VAZQUEZ ORTIZ: We live close by to the school but have never take any classes here, I got a recommendation from a friend and it was really a pleasure for my kid to be in their Sprig Camp. The school is just great and the teachers are very professional and nice with the kids. The art that my kid did was great, she was introduced to several techniques, like sculpting, printing, acrylic, watercolor and they even made puppets!!! Highly recommended!!!
Response: Thank you for your 5 star review. We are glad to hear she enjoyed our spring camp! We are looking forward seeing her our art classes or summer camps. :)

Smithsonian Associates: what do users think?

Bec215 H.: One of my earliest memories is a behind the scenes tour of the Smithsonian natural history museum at age 5. Still love the museums, but the Resident Associates programs are an amazing way to add a new dimension to life-long learning, beyond reading books or watching videos. The pandemic has made far more events accessible to us, as all content has moved to Zoom, and I hope the SA leadership will recognize the value of continuing to offer virtual programming beyond the pandemic time. As for content, we've enjoyed everything from a lecture on Mongolian history we attended a few months prior to our trip to Mongolia to beginning drawing, to a lecture on the history of American food culture since 1850. My mom is 75 and disabled, but still curious about the world and wanting to learn, and she loves loves loves these events - it gives her new things to learn and piques her curiosity about the world, and also gives her things to talk about with family and friends that enrich her social life. I've noted the lack of cultural diversity especially in the history/literature-related programming, and would like to see more Asian history and arts content. For me the issue of content diversity is separate from the value the content that they produce and the quality of it, which so far has been nothing but outstanding. Engagement is what motivates change, so I hope as membership grows and diversity expands, so will their programming.

Jennifer Gelman: My husband and I have been members of the Smithsonian Associates for quite a few years now. We almost always enjoy the programs and trips, although a few have been duds. Tonight's program was celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Sound of Music. You can attend programs without being a member, but members get discounts on all of the programs. Many of the lectures are at the Ripley Center (where the African and Asian art museums are). The lecturers are experts in their fields.

Kenya Allmond: I've attended many of the Smithsonian Associates programs over the years. They are always informative and engaging. One of my favorite programs featured an astronomer who. along with his team, examines the sky in famous paintings and could tell you the day in history that the paintings were composed. It was an excellent melding of arts and sciences.

Julia Thomas: Registered for online classes but they've been sending the zoom links to someone else's email address. Missed the classes. Customer service of no help. Wasted $200.

Eric Epstein: We have been museum members for almost 20 years. We love the culture, the talks and experience.

Georgette Dorn: Tried to through by phone or email to ask for information about Studio Art classes. No luck. Website and phone tree most unhelpful.

Bikramjeet Singh: If it will be live video then it will be awesome

Jim Blount: Awesome history of the great USA. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Sitar Arts Center: what do users think?

LEYDI JOHANNA MENDEZ SALINAS: There is no clear communication between the Sitar Staff towards the families, I registered my children on March 29 for the summer camp and informed them that due to religion their father does not authorize the vaccine against covid, after a few minutes the response from them was that YES they would accept the children but with a note written by the pediatrician. I did everything they asked me, I paid on time and after more than a month they called me and told me that they will NOT accept my children and was wrong in the communication because they have not been vaccinated, in this place they DISCRIMINATE children and families who think differently from the other people, the Director only thought that giving me back the money would solve everything, my children were already excited to start the camp but Sitar did not care about any of this and removed them from the camp.

Asha Mueller: I'm a student at the center and I think that it's a wonderful experience that I'm very lucky to have. There's nothing like having a place to express yourself. I have always loved the center ft it's originality and if anyone has the chance, they should find a way to take art classes.

Little Lady Cook: Parking is easy to find during the day. Their staff is lovely and very helpful. The space for events is phenomenal if you need to rent just call and I'm sure whoever picks up your phone call will be kind and walk you through it. I looked at their arts program and it looked ver interesting, music, painting, photography you name it. The teachers are creative and friendly folks, it's totally Adams Morgan!

Corrie Davidson: A wonderful neighborhood arts center, just blocks from the heart of AdMo. Plenty of music rooms, large art rooms, and a faculty that cares about enriching young people's lives and the community. You can also rent the theatre or other spaces for events.

Hamza Khan: An amazing space with the potential to better understanding for a better world. As I sit here, speaking to the young professionals I trust will help change our world, I see the energy of this place fill everyone with an excitement and ambition to be change agents. This year, Sitar hosted TEDx AdamsMorgan. Check them out: @TEDxAdamsMorgan

Brenda Robinson: Excellent organization that provides outstanding theatrical and artistic opportunities for young people. Tony award recognition for this great organization.

Maria Clayton: Balloons! (ESTONIA) Kids Euro Festival

Arthur Wells: A very culturally diverse learning facility, giving young people an opportunity to express themselves and expand on their God given talents!

Karen Burton Jackson: Great arts school and the staff are talented and well educated ppl. Great place for after school and summer programs.

mabel h: Wonderful place for kids. They are so personable, make you feel that they care

The Art League: what do users think?

Geoff Livingston: The Art League does many great things for the artist community within Alexandria city and its suburbs. I enjoy their gallery and their contest. At the same time, my family has registered for four classes and camps in total, and they have been hit or miss. Plus the league is really bad at communications (like they don't communicate when class will start or if it will be cancelled because of snow), prompting many a nervous phone call. It's a mixed bag.

Maggie Williams: Critical: Communication, Professionalism, QualityClasses are a hit or a miss. A bit unprofessional as there was poor communication . Go to the workhouse art center in Lorton if you are looking for art classes.

C Kuester: Love the Art League. I've taken several classes here and they've been terrific.

B W: I absolutely love this school! I am moving soon and will greatly miss the instructors and even the new friends I’ve made. The instructors are very patient and are passionate about teaching. I have learned so much from attending workshops and several 9 week courses!! I wished I could pick the school up and move it to my new dwelling place, but since I can’t, I will leave an awesome review :) To all the instructors, Thank You! Thank you for giving of your time and knowledge to us the students! We are better artists of all kind because of you! I can only speak for myself, but I grew by leaps and bounds in my craft from being connected to this school! I am ever so thankful for the brilliant mind who was blessed by God to start this school years ago. The education I have received was just as good or better than paying high priced tuition at a university. I pray nothing but continued blessings upon this institution!

Kirk Sigmon: In my opinion, completely unprofessional, and the sole reason why a needy girls' charity won't be able to throw a fundraiser. I won a "corporate retreat" here through a local charity auction, and decided to use it to support a needy girls' charity in Nepal. I let my friends go for free, conditioned on them donating money to the charity. Apparently, that wasn't welcome. I quickly received a threatening call from the Art League, saying that they "never promised" an event, and even threatening to have their law firm prevent me from helping donate to charity! This isn't even to mention the other issues I had trying to set my up in the first place - endless calls to try to set it up, vagueness about what the class actually would offer, attempts to not provide the class in the first place (they kept saying their schedule was too full to offer it at any reasonable time, then offered something ridiculous like 1 PM on a weekday), etc. Needless to say, I'll try to find the charity another venue, but I feel completely scammed.

Sarah Concepcion: It's neat that you can go into an artist workshop and see what they work on. Sometimes they have public exhibitions too that can be interactive even. If you want to buy art though, the price is not cheap.

Nabil Elhalawany: I am a medical Dr. interested in Art.

Latrina Proctor-Jones: Luv Art all forms...😀

Norraine Miller, MS: Really enjoy the visit

Nicky: Great Institute

Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at GW: what do users think?

Hilda Kroll: The current exhibit has some very interesting photos, paintings, and sculpture. It would have helped so much to have some information about the pieces.

Austin Graff: The Corcoran School of the Arts and Design is in the old Corcoran Museum flanking the Executive Building by the White House. It's centrally located in Washington, D.C and a beautiful space. It's in an old building set up like a museum making the school's art shows out of this world. There are spiraling staircases, courtyards and room after room of beautifully designed art. If you get invited to an event here, say yes!

Gigi G.: Attended a graduate open house and learn a lot about the program and met some staff of other programs and they were fabulous to hear from.

Yesica Suarez: Architecturally, the buildong is awe inspiring. I think it really captures your eyes. The exhibitions for the Lone Prairie, Breaking Cultural Boundaries, Cartoons and the Color exhibitions were interesting. They definitely were trying to tell a meaningful story. I think the cartoon exhibit was successfully set up, but the others needed more content and guidance to trully unfold. There's ton of space to work with in the building so it needed to be used effectively so it wouldn't feel empty

Luis B: Corcoran School is mainly focused on promoting the arts. Friends of mine who have attended the college have had both good and bad things to say based on their experiences. One of the pros of the school is the events and gallery showings that often take place within it's walls. If you're a DC native, or city walker, you may want to check up on Corcoran and see what's going on from time to time.

Asad Jan: The Corcoran Gallery of Art was an art museum in Washington, D.C. Prior to its closing, it was one of the oldest privately supported cultural institutions in the United States capital. Starting in 1890, a museum school, later known as the Corcoran College of Art + Design, co-existed with the gallery. The museum's main focus was American art. In 2014, after decades of financial problems, the Corcoran entered into an agreement with the National Gallery of Art (NGA) and the George Washington University whereby almost all of the gallery's 17,000 work collection was placed under the care of the NGA, while the school and historic 17th street gallery building continued operations as a part of the George Washington University's new Corcoran School of the Arts and Design.

Yaser AlSaghrji: One of the architectural gems of the Nation Capital

Es K: Saw a phenomenal end of year exhibit some years ago

Nik Novakkain: So much talent and this is one of the best schools/museum

Arnold Thomas Bigger: Course selection is very good; faculty and staff are very good; and general vibe is good.

Kidcreate Studio - Alexandria: what do users think?

Erin Cunnane: We booked our daughter's 4th birthday party with Kidcreate Studio, we had a mobile art party with her friends in our home. It was wonderful and the kids had so much fun. The two art teachers that came were fully prepared, showed up early to set up and were a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend using Kidcreate Studio!!
Response: Thank you so much Erin!

Crystal Mosser: I had my first Kidcreate Art Studio experience yesterday at a neighbor’s birthday party. The party was organized, clean and the kids LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT! They got to make such cool art and my kids came home saying it was the BEST birthday party ever! I highly recommend Kidcreate!

L B: We love KidCreate! We've visited during open paint with our 6 and 4 year olds, and they had a delightful time. So delightful, in fact, that we also booked a mobile art party for my son's 4th birthday! It was such a hit. We spaced the kids out at their own little tables, and Diane at KidCreate took care of the rest! She arrived right on time and quickly had the kids making air clay magic. At age 4, some kids were more into having an "activity" than others, but everyone who gave it a shot was so proud of his or her creations! Diane also brought all the aprons and clean up supplies needed - you never would have known that 10 preschoolers were making art in my house! Definitely recommend. We've also done the take home kits, which are a great value for a rainy or snowy day activity! Also very happy with the covid precautions in place.
Response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We're so glad we earned your business. We look forward to seeing the family again soon!

Springfield Golf & Country Club: We've been working with KidCreate of Alexandria to host private events for our Club membership for the last year, and every single event has been a massive success. From art workshops, to craft stations, to a mobile art camp, our families have loved every moment. Diane is extremely responsive and her staff of teachers is engaging, patient, professional, and kind. Can't wait to have them back!

Carly Robb: Kidcreate has created an art program at our school that fits our needs! Kidcreate staff are flexible, knowledgeable, patient, professional, and gifted! Projects and lessons are age appropriate - allowing students to try new things and create their very own masterpieces. Art has become one of our most popular electives - I think the students' smiles (hidden under their masks of course) after class is proof of that!

Allison Leavitt: Kidcreate Studio did a mobile party for us to celebrate our daughter’s 5th birthday. We loved it - and so did the kids! The calmest I’ve ever seen 15, 5 year olds act! 😂. It allowed the kids to have fun and the parents got to relax as well. They thought of everything and had great art projects to choose from. Would definitely recommend!
Response: Thank you so much! We love traveling all over the DMV to celebrate birthdays with families, bringing grins and giggles through the joy of ART!

Ayda Seekford: I used them for the first time and I was very impressed with their services. Kidcreate Studio came to my house to deliver the party. My daughter loves pigs and I asked for the drawing to be a pig and the owner and one of her staff members came up with a beautiful painting of a pig. My daughter and her friends had a blast drawing specially when they got to the part about being creative and making their drawing unique to them. I recommend Kidcreate Studio 100%.

Sean Carroll: Our daughter attends one of the Kidcreate after school art classes and loves it! The teacher, Ms. Lisa, does a wonderful job getting the kids excited for art and the history of the artists. The class is an hour long. When I drop her off, the students are all motivated to grab their art supplies and start drawing or painting. When I return to pick her up, the children have concluded their project for that day and are all dancing to music and having a great time! I highly recommend this fun, art-focused experience for your elementary school child. We like the program so much, and find the owner so great to work with, that we hosted an art party by Kidcreate at my daughter's school. The children had a great time and walked out of school that day proudly holding-up their new clay creations. My daughter said it was the best party ever. Thank you, Kidcreate!

Emma Lee S. Wilson: I took my 6-year-old to a Mother's Day parent and child class. It might have been my favorite thing we've ever done together. Felt safe and socially distanced, the number of attendees were manageable so that we all got individualized attention as needed. Most importantly, my son had an absolute blast. By the time class was wrapping up, I was being bombarded by questions like "Can we come back tomorrow?" "Do we have to leave?" "Can I have my birthday here?" "Can we bring my friend next time?" With virtual school and kids being home, I think they're really starving for a creative outlet. Kidcreate provides that. We'll definitely be back and I'm recommending them to everyone we know!
Response: Thank you so much Emma! We put our heart into making our studio a fun and safe experience and we're so glad your family felt that. We look forward to seeing your family again soon!

Tabatha: Just wanted to say thank you! I traveled from Stafford to bring my daughter to your art camp for one day which was her birthday. With everything going on she has been couped up in the house for a while thought she would enjoy this and she did!!!!! You and your staff made the start of her birthday Great!!!! We hung the birthday banner up at home for family to sign when they came over later the same evening. She enjoyed showing off her artwork which was displayed for everyone to see! Thanks so much for making her feel special making a crown for her to wear too. Thank you again she had a great 4th birthday we will be back again soon.
Response: Thanks for letting us help make her day special! Making a mess is the best at Kidcreate and we look forward to seeing her again soon!

CREATE Arts Center: what do users think?

judi rockhill: I took an adult class here after years of sending my kids to their camps. I loved it! The instructor was friendly and gave just enough instruction to guide us. I had no painting experience, which concerned me. But no one made me feel less capable than the other, more experienced students. I'm looking forward to more classes!

Aekta Bandodker: They have an adult art therapy group and the leaders of the group are SUPER nice! I got a volunteering opportunity with them and am feeling so blessed! They also have art classes for kids! Great staff! Non-profit. Can't wait to get to know them better and learn form my volunteer experiences!

J E: My kids attended for two weeks and they can't wait to come back. Their artistic gift has grown so much due to the teacher's dedication. Teachers and everyone who works there is super nice!

Steve Spencer: My children did a week long camp here. It was fine but neither child had interest in doing it again next summer. One benefit is it has camp before most schools let our which is convenient

Natasha Corrigan: Create Arts Camp is so so so much fun! The teachers and kids are very nice and creative. There are always amazing projects planned. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Vicky Pohlen: Love this charity and everything they do! They have a very welcoming space.
Response: Thanks Vicky! Come by to see us anytime!

District Clay Center: what do users think?

D Waldo: Visited NGO, Plants & Blooms Reimagined, a special floral design work space.

Erica Young: I love District clay and all that I have been able to accomplish since taking classes there! Great people, teachers, and equipment. The price is good, considering the (few) pottery studios in the area charge slightly more. Also, as a student in a class, you can visit any other classes during the week (without paying more) and they have open studio time on Sundays. The only downside is that as the place gets bigger and adds more students, they don't appear to do much about the spacing and needs of the greater amount of students, until it is late in the game. For example, shelf space and firing times seems to stay the same unless enough complaints come in. I wish they would anticipate these needs of a growing location. On the whole though, it's a great place and I love attending my classes!

Maria Otero: This is a great place, helpful, responsive teachers, good equipment, unique warm atmosphere where you can interact with other students or just be - everyone is helpful, that's just is the culture of the place. Beautiful pottery and great learning. I swore to myself I wasn't going to tell anyone about District Clay to keep it as lovely as it is, but here I am, posting this five star review!

Beatriz T. CentenoPiñeiro: I recommend this place only to people who are flexible and not too concerned about what comes out. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it's a good deal and the instructors are nice (for the most part). On the other hand, you need to speak up if you need guidance, most of the time the kiln is loaded by work-study people that are sometimes a bit careless and unfocused, so there are accidents, and then there are also problems with glazes. After the 10 weeks of class, students must clear their shelf but the temporary shelf is always crowded, increasing chances of accidents, and it takes a few more weeks for your final pieces to be fired. So even if you are finished, kiln traffic is always high and you have to go back every other week to see if your pieces are done.

Jan Vandevanter: You could not choose a better place to learn. The instructors are terrific, the space is warm and welcoming and the generosity of spirit is palpable. Whether you are a beginner or pro all are welcomed equally.

Adam Barrett: They accommodated a small group of us last minute. We had a great time. They glazed and fired our pots. I’ll be back again for sure.

Benjamin Gutman: Great place to learn, see and do pottery. Classes. Gallery. Studio space. All excellent. And friendly and knowledgeable community.

Tonya Howe: Amazing community, awesome space, great location, accessible class prices--what more can you want?

Luke Lukens: Great space. Owned and run by the best people in the world.

Jason Navarre: My friends introduced me to this place and it's great!!

US Arts Center: what do users think?

Caitlyn Kantaparn: I’ve been taking classes at the US Arts Center for 5 years. All of my teachers have been so helpful in teaching me technical and conceptual skills in a variety of media. They have always pushed me to create pieces outside my comfort zone, while also making sure my pieces were enjoyable to me. From taking classes at US Arts, I have gained so much more passion and confidence in my work, and I realized art was something I wanted to pursue in college. Not only did US Arts help improve my artistic abilities, but they also helped with many other parts of my college application journey as well. Ms. Xiaoyi has given amazing guidance for my artist statements and portfolio reviews. I’m so thankful for everything US Arts has provided me and I don’t know what I’d do without them!

Marian Qian: I've learned so much at my time at US Arts since 6th grade, and I'm extremely grateful for the advice and help I've received from my teachers there. The environment is incredibly supportive with the patience and dedication of the staff and instructors. In every class, my teachers have given valuable and detailed feedback on my work and on my ideas on new projects, which improved how I can express the themes in my artwork. US Arts has also helped me greatly with my college art portfolio planning, and the individual meetings with Ms. Xiaoyi gave me a clear straightforward plan for what I would need to finish during the fall of my senior year. I've improved so much in using different types of media, from pencil, acrylic, to even ink, and I am thankful for US Arts in supporting me through my art journey!

Michael Shi: I went to US arts for over 10 years and I believe that this place really allowed me to explore my interest in art. One thing that really puts US Arts over the rest is that they have small class sizes which gives all of the amazing teachers ample time to work with students.

meilisparkle: My daughter has been with US Arts for many years, since its very opening. The owners Ms. Janet and her husband are very kind, patient and professional folks that we fully trust. Over many years, this is the only extra-curriculum activity that my daughter has persisted and every week looks forward to, not only because she genuinely loves drawing but most importantly being in a positive growth environment with no-pressure. I thought this is important as nowadays there is just too much pressure everywhere for kids. Both teachers and students are of great diversity here and US Arts have comprehensive school-year curriculum along with summer and specialty camps as well as opportunities for outdoor drawings and art museum visits. All of the teachers my daughter had at US Arts are great artists themselves. There are periodic touch-points, parent-teacher conference, and portfolio review. The teachers and Janet always went great lengths explaining curriculum, elaborating things that are important and provide many reminders along the way. As parent and as far as art class goes here, I can honestly say it is a worry free. Happy to witness its growth over the years. Art enriches our life and I feel their hard work and business is doing great thing to the community.

S.: Love this school! My 3 kids have been going to US Arts Chantilly for years. They have learned so much there. US Arts is very well run and organized. They not only have a systematic curriculum that teaches children progressive but comprehensive skills, but also make learning fun and interesting. The students are placed at levels based on their skills and their progress constantly monitored and evaluated. My kids love going there and have made so much progress in their drawing skills. One of my daughters wanted to study art in college. US Arts started helping her plan for her portfolio as early as 10th grade, and advised her throughout the process. They were instrumental in helping her getting top quality portfolios ready for her senior year in high school. My daughter was accepted into one of the best college art programs in the country. We can't thank US Arts enough!

andrew chen: I've attended USArts ever since elementary school and have always looked towards attending class every week. Looking back, I really appreciate the support and guidance the teachers and staff have given over the years. I was always encouraged to be creative, explore different media, and try different art styles. As I improved, my teachers always knew how to challenge me to step into the next level. I am also grateful for the help they have given me in crafting my college art portfolio. Ms. Xiaoyi helped me create a detailed plan in my junior year and met with me one-on-one with me to discuss my progress and answer any questions I had. My teacher Ms. Hyunsuk helped me develop my ideas into unique, workable pieces and gave me valuable criticism and feedback in every class. With this support, I was able to put together a polished portfolio that I was proud of. USArts has nurtured my creativity, imagination, and lifelong passion for art and supported me all the way along my journey as an artist.

Ariana Thornton: I have been a student at US Arts Center for seven years, and attending its classes has been wonderful for me! US Arts has such a rich curriculum for all ages. The center fosters creative thinking and freedom, enables students to explore various media (including pastels, clay, graphite pencil, ink, acrylic, watercolor, gouache), and encourages them to explore various art styles (contemporary, realism, surrealism, minimalism). I so much appreciate how the teachers support and nurture their students' growth above and beyond, and I truly care for the connections I make with my classmates during class. Even now, when the pandemic makes it so that classes are online via Zoom, my teachers' support have never waivered. They always offer their help in various situations, whether it's accessing the Zoom meeting or pulling up ideas on Pinterest for a future project. The director, Mrs. Zhao, and Ms. Xiaoyi helped greatly in choosing, assembling, and putting together high-quality photos of my artworks for my portfolio for school applications. I am deeply grateful for them. Art is my greatest passion, and US Arts has been with me through it all--from my drawing of Jack and the Beanstalk on my very first day to winning Scholastic Gold and Silver Keys for my artworks. I highly recommend this arts center!

ayla: I’ve attended for 5 years and counting and the teachers are amazing. They really care about how the students are doing and will help them improve their artwork. US Arts also has summer courses. Although it is expensive, I would say that it’s worth it. My artwork has definitely improved since I started! :)

JH Zhao: We have two kids and our kids have been at summer camp program with US Arts since 2010. We really like the programs offered at US Arts and like the teachers there. They have small class size and the teachers know all kids very well. Their teachers are very nice to the students. Our kids love US Arts so much and want to come US Arts every summer. This is our third year. We are very happy with the program and their services.

B J: My daughter has been going to US Arts for the past 7 years and to this day it is still her favorite weekly activity. Her enthusiasm has affected our 2nd daughter who started to attend classes at US Arts as well when she turned 5, three years ago. They not only have fun there, but the education they've both received there is so helpful no matter what major or career they want to enter. As a parent, I am so proud of their artistic skills, but also so happy that they've found something they love that gives them a feeling of achievement as well as teaching them skills that will enrich their lives.

Arlington Arts Center: what do users think?

Courtney Bradshaw: Such a wonderful part of Arlington! The art on display is contemporary and very interesting to view. Their classes are excellent! I took a drawing class this spring and the instructor, Melanie, was fantastic. I am not a natural at drawing but Melanie made it manageable while still challenging us. She was able to adapt really well to moving virtually the last couple of classes due to the pandemic, and I don’t think it diminished the experience.

Jon: Great space providing locals the opportunity to make and enjoy art.

Chris Kagy: Small, but great quality place! There are always interesting exhibits on display here. This is a small space, so you get very close to the pieces. The Tiffany room also displays beautiful L C Tiffany stained glass windows from Arlington house. Professional artists have studios here, too. Finally, the kids art themes day camps offered here generally get the kids involved with and building on the current exhibits with guidance by great staff

Char Beales: Amazing contemporary art that's free to view. Top quality art classes for all ages. A home for 12 outstanding artists with affordable studio space. At Virginia Square with free parking. There's a lot to like here.

Shannon Jennings: Very glad that this gem of a place exists in our community. My boyfriend and I like coming when the installations change over and are always impressed with what's going on in here. I am not a parent, but it seems like they have great programs for kids/younger artists, too. Thanks for existing, Arlington Arts Center!

Betty Belanus: Free, close to metro and a high quality of exhibitions. Also offers classes and workshops.

Carollei McMillin: a really great place for amazing local and regional contemporary art in a historic setting in the heart of Arlington. it's also very easy to find and access with a small parking lot and ample residential parking, plus metro right across the street. oh, and it's free.

Jason Horowitz: Fantastic art center with an ambitious exhibition schedule, subsidized artist studios, and a slate of art classes. Don't miss the gorgeous Tiffany windows!

Jim Ruckman: Came here to attend a wedding. The venue was beautiful, the service was attentive, and the ability to break from the crowd to peruse the art selection was great for for giving me some great break time.

Patrick McCormick: Occasionally there are some interesting exhibits here and I've heard you can rent it out for special events. There is a very unsafe toddler playscape behind here.

Workhouse Arts Center: what do users think?

Austin Graff: As a history nerd, I geek out about places like Workhouse Arts Center. It's a former prison redeveloped into a community for the arts. Here's what you should know before visiting: 1) History: The arts center is part of the 3,2000-acre campus of an early 20th century prison called the D.C. Workhouse and Reformatory. At the time, it opened as a model for prison reform envisioned by President Teddy Roosevelt. Over the years, it become more of a working camp with the last prisoner exiting in 2001 before it closed for good. The campus is being redeveloped into many things, but the Workhouse Arts Center was one of the first to open in the old prison in 2008. 2) Space: It's definitely set up like the old prison with several Colonial Revival brick buildings flank a large green space. Each brick building houses art galleries and centers that offer classes from ceramics to glass blowing. There's also a small museum about the prison's history and plaques outside explaining the history. 3) Art: Several of the buildings have art on them, including several murals throughout the campus. It's fun to find them all, especially the older murals. 4) Events: On top of the art classes, the arts center hosts events throughout the year. For example, during Halloween, they host a haunted house experience. If you're into history and the arts, the Workhouse Arts Center is the perfect marriage!
Response: Wow Austin! We very much appreciate your glowing review! Thank you and we hope to see you at the Workhouse again soon!

Linda Bishop: Very friendly artists. Lots of interesting artwork & history: facility where suffragettes were emprisoned. Photos taken at Occoquan Park, nearby suffragette memorial.

Petrina Lincoln: Great experience seeing the musical xanadu. My 12 year old and 2 year old both enjoyed it also

#photohoag: Work House arts center, what an amazing change from old prison to supporting the arts and giving back to the community. There really does seem to be something for everyone. You really should check out the website and find something to try.

Kat Fred: Fun place to watch artists work and support their art by purchasing items for sale there. Interesting museum is on site about the prison that used to be located there with history about women's suffrage. You can take various art classes along with yoga and other fun art movement classes.

Scott Ewing: Arches Gallery in building 9 has some beautiful pottery

Cyborg82SS: Take kids here for art class. Cool they still have the bldg the original way and setting. You can walk around and just explore.

Judith Ann Arnold: Huge spaces for a variety of gallery favorites! Wonderful positive vibe. Friendly service & enjoyed the gift shop as well

Shelly Durkee: Fascinating place and history! Worth a stop!

Cindy Romero: The coolest experience on a rainy Saturday. My toddler, mom and me had so much fun perusing the various artist galleries and it was great to see so many talented women artists especially. A good mix of diverse art mediums. The icing on the cake though was the amazingly hospitable and warm staff in the cafe in the visitors center. They had a delicious selection of food and simply perfect hot chocolate that hit the spot on a rainy day. They were so accommodating to my rambunctious toddler, even playing with her and making her special drinks. She had such a blast. The cafe is a must and will have you leaving with warm vibes.
Response: Thank you so much for the kind words! We are happy your experience at the Workhouse Arts Center was so awesome and hope you come back soon! Check out our classes and camps for your young one and maybe you can find a good fit! https://reservations.workhousearts.org/

Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture: what do users think?

Muneer Khan: It's a one of the finest place for art and portrait lovers. You can imagine the world of portraits along with their history in audio. You can sit over the third floor and take some free time. Very good decorations and explanations. Amazing place. Earlier it was at my least priority but once I entered inside the building I lost among the finest paintings and portrait. I spent more than 3 hours in this huge museum.

James Walker: During my weekend visit, I experienced the Cherry Blossom Family Celebration with traditional music, that drew large crowds. Inside the Kogod Courtyard was the flower exhibit, showcasing Orchids. Finally, took in the artwork that covers several levels of this huge building. Take the stairs or elevators to get around. Restrooms on all levels, souvenir shops and a cafe are currently open.

Hilda Kroll: Now is a great time to visit the Kogod Courtyard during the Orchid Exhibit. Always interesting exhibits to see as well as the permanent SAAM and Portrait Gallery collections.

Roderick Wells: Great place to visit, especially if your short on time and can't run into any lines. Great seating area to eat and chill highly recommend it.

Amanda Dennis: The Portrait gallery is great fun. The history is amazing.Don't forget to visit the third floor, with the stained glass doors gorgeous tile floor! That was where Lincoln was inaugurated!

A To Z Sales 1: We had purchased a couple of American flags🇺🇸🇺🇸from a vendor, and upon arrival, not even getting in the door good. We were asked to get rid of our flags, that they were not allowed inside. We even asked if they would hold on to them while we toured and they refused.....very un- American!!! The artwork was amazing, but the experience really killed the vibe.

Shaopeng Yuan: Very beautiful building and good place to meet up with friends to spend a weekend.

Junhyun Park: Very interesting place!! A lot of history and people including the presidents, founding fathers, American natives, artists and celebrities. I could learn a lot from this fantastic museum.

Raul Jauregui: Figurative masterpiece assembly. Absolutely perfect way to learn US history through images. And a lovely building with original tyle floors upstairs.

Len Oppenheimer: Amazing "stop and stare" portraits of American names in history.
