Elizabeth's Gone Raw: what do users think?

Michael Condor: Took my wife (a vegan) here last month for her birthday and we both had an incredible time. As a non-vegan, I thought the meals and experience were great. We enjoyed all the dishes on the prix fixe menu along with some tasty mocktails. The staff is what really made this place spectacular—so polite and friendly. Will definitely be back next year for birthday celebrations!

Caileigh Feldman: My brother took me out to dinner to celebrate my 29th birthday and we had the best meal ever! I asked in advance for a fully raw 6-course experience and my bother did the vegan 6-course, so we had fun sharing bites. We each got a drink and they were wonderful. We started with the caviar plate which is SO worth it and an experience that you’ll never forget. Each small plate of the meal was absolutely delicious and prepared with such exquisite creativity. We enjoyed every bite. The dishes are so beautiful that it feels like you are eating edible art. We had a blast chatting to the passionate waitstaff (such as Ben) throughout the meal and hearing some of the stories behind the beautiful paintings from Elizabeth herself. My brother and I agreed that this was one of the best meals of our lives. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will be back time and time again to try the different seasonal menus. The biggest thank you to Elizabeth, the fantastic Chef Francisco Hernandez and the wonderful team. Every single person made us feel so special and cared for.

Jeffrey F: Easily one of - if not the best - meals of my life, in any city, anywhere! So incredibly delicious from start to finish. Wonderful ambiance, attentive and knowledgeable wait staff - everything you could want for in a meal. Drinks were delicious, too. Whether vegan or not, this place is absolutely worth your time. Can’t wait to return and try the new seasonal menu next time.

Corrie Byers: This was our first time having a fancy 5 course meal like this and it was incredible. The menu is seasonal was just creative and delicious. Everything we had was unique and full of flavor. Each course was explained by our wonderful server with not only what it was but how it was prepared and where the food came from. The restaurant was beautiful and quaint and all the staff was phenomenal. We were visiting DC for our honeymoon and they brought out a candle in celebration. It was very pricey for us but well worth the price for the entire experience.

Jamie Howard: Impeccable service, thoughtful and delicious food! My dinner mates consisted of two vegans, one plant based, and myself an omnivore. The plating was beautiful with layers of flavor with each successful course. Ideal for a nice date night. Our favorite thing was the kale chips!!! They look pretty plain but oohwee lol. The owner took pity on us and brought us seconds after watching us pick at the crumbs in the first bowl. Will definitely be back!

Simon A: Have to say this hidden Gem in the wonderful city of DC was worth the experience! From the entryway to the ambiance upstairs in their dining space. All the waiters and waitresses were incredible, from start to finish and compliments to the chef for amazing fine dining tasting options. If you are to ever find yourself in downtown DC stop here and experience the vegan “CAVIAR”!! Yes I said it “VEGAN CAVIAR”, for a first time experience in having this delicacy I was blown away. The entire food menu from the appetizer to the main course to the dessert was incredibly sensational along with a spectacular display of each one. Can’t forget the bartender who made the most amazing Mezcal Old Fashioned using the vida organic mezcal tequila. The Smokey earth tones from the mezcal and finished with the right bitters and simple syrup, lastly with the solid rock cube in a wide mouth rocks glass thank you!!!!! To all the staff thank you for the experience as we had an amazing time and great birthday celebration in your establishment and will look forward to another dinner the next time we are in DC.

Flower Child: what do users think?

Brian Copes: My date and I went here for the time tonight for dinner and it was nice! We were attracted to overall vibe of the restaurant. It’s almost a blend of fast casual and casual sit down restaurant. It has this fun, colorful and conscious vibe. Food - we got the bowls with protein added. They were tasty. It’s different from chipotle and cava in a global taste way. The drinks were blah and basic. Bathroom- clean and tidy! Overall, it’s a nice fast casual restaurant that I would eat at again. I would recommend this restaurant for a quick bit to eat.

Nils Hünerfürst: Had ordered over Doordash for pickup. Luckily there was a 50% coupon available and with that price under line the Lunch was quite good. The Pita with the Avocado spread is well made and my earth bowl was also quite good.

Emily Hamman: I came here for a quick solo dinner on a weeknight. Great healthy food, nice patio space, & friendly staff! Easy to cater to dietary restrictions (GF & DF). The gluten free cookie was to die for!

EWC Chow: Had a nice dinner there after the next door restaurant had a 45 minute wait time. Was looking for place that would serve lots of greens and salads anyways. A pleasant surprise. I had the Turkey Advocado Cobb which was very good. But this is a self serve restaurant. You place your order at cashier,, they bring you your food and you get your own water and utensils.

David Reznik: Fantastic flavors without any grease -- as a vegan, it is super helpful that all their items are clearly marked and that there are loads of options available. A perfect meal -- super healthy but still manages to fill! If in doubt, I suggest adding sides to your main, as they are delicious & complement beautifully.

V VP: I had a Mother Earth bowl with broccoli and tomatoes, steak added. It was great!

Haleigh Eppler: Beautiful and spacious dinning room. We went for the option (but not obligation) to have vegan and gluten free food. While I expected Japchae when I saw sweet potato noodles, I loved this non traditional take with spiralized potatoes. We also had the carrots which were amazing.

Josh Rees: Flower Child has great food and an awesome atmosphere. Come check it out! I got the chicken, mashed potato, and gluten free mac & cheese.

Fancy Radish: what do users think?

Joshua Barron: Absolutely lovely high end vegan spot… the happy hour bites were delicious, the fondu was liquid heaven(!), and the mocktails were extremely flavorful. Thank you to Kara and Adam for making me feel so welcome!

Haleigh Eppler: One of the best vegan meals I’ve had. Almost everything could also be prepared in a celiac friendly form. I only managed to take pictures of about half of the dishes because we ate the others too quickly.

Krupa Shah: Perfect spot for a date night. But be ready to splurge as it is on the higher end. My favorite dish was the Peruvian potatoes - the yellow sauce was the perfect balance of flavors. The potato itself was cooked / baked to perfection. Such a fulfilling dish. The pretzel in the rutabaga fondue was not your typical bar pretzel. It was fluffy and crispy - and it melted in my mouth with every bite. The fondue was an unexpected flavor, but very much welcomed. The drinks were nothing extraordinary- but they paired well with the food. The best part of the entire meal were the desserts. We ordered the chocolate bar and Meyer lemon tart. Both were rich in flavor and smooth in texture. I was in heaven.

Archana Raju: The dishes were creative and tasted good. We really enjoyed the Peruvian potatoes, and Mushroom steak. These two items are definitely a must try. The Dan Dan noodles was a bit chewy which is normal given it’s made of whole wheat but the flavor was alright. The dishes were a bit pricey and portion size was small. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys vegan food or likes to try creative dishes!

Crystal Sings: 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent service! Nice atmosphere/ambience! We celebrated my cousin’s birthday yesterday evening and he was very pleased. They gave us seating by the window which was nice and our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. We ordered the whole menu and every dish we had was sooooo 😊 gooooooodddddd‼️😘 I would definitely come back. Only two suggestions…..managers/ chefs…… please add the lavender & banoffee ice cream to the dessert menu as an a la carte option. I wish I could have just had the ice cream 😋 as an option. That would have been cool! And….I wanted to order the paradise fall to go but that’s not an option🎭

#1man1year150: Easy high 4 out of 5 but they get an overall 5 for the waiter. The black gentleman that helped up was SUPER knowledgeable and just made the experience that much better. He was funny, the food was good, drinks were proper, and plating was superb, topping it off with the desserts we had was just ... perfect. Thank you for the pleasant night and great food. We arrived like well dressed peasants and ate like kings.

Mostafa Nazemi: The food portion is very small! Basically, you have to order more than 3 meals to get full which costs minimum 50$ per person. Also, the quality of the food is awful! Like the bread was so oily and salty! If you order one more bread, they cost you 3$ which is ridiculous! The service is not also good! It took more than 20 minutes for us to get our food! The restroom was out of toilet paper, but clean though! Generally, it is a huge waste of money to go to this restaurant in my opinion! Not recommend at all!

Y Dzi: Always a go-to for good vegan take-out! I like the food and the community the shops and works here. The best French fries. I really like their avocado sandwich on a spinach wrap. I like their fried chicken with potato salad and kale. I enjoy their steak and cheese, which is a lot to consume. Their drinks are good. Nothing is too greasy or saturated in anything, or over seasoned. Just all-around very very good to eat their. Plus there is a nice seating area in the back outside. Please go and get this good food made by good people with good energy!

Jalan W B: Yummy! Went out of my way today to get Senbeb. I had the special curry mushroom chicken. So delish and healthy. Love this neighborhood staple.

Citra Simms: Delicious vegan dishes !!! Very well seasoned and good portions as well as reasonable price. Their logo is a very attractive Egyptian looking art of a woman holding a fruit basket( if I remember correctly) which shows their values. The women were very nice and welcoming. They were out of few things but all the dishes and sides were delicious.

Thuy Dinh: Who knew vegan food could be so good! I ordered the jerk beef and a side of kale and collard green. The flavor was absolutely perfect. The tea was tasty too, and just the right amount of sweet. The cashier was a bit kurt but overall still friendly. Food was very quick. Super happy I gave this a try. Can’t wait to come back!!!

Teneele B.: This place is a real gem! Such a warm vibe upon walking in, and exceptional service. The food is cooked with love, and you can taste it. I had the vegan crab cakes with collards and plantains. Will definitely be coming back!

WanderLust: No major changes in appearance since three years ago, yet for the breakfast grub is on point. Regarding the scramble, please add some veggies to it like peppers, onion, spinach or something. Would gladly pay more for extras if option. Customer service awesome!

inner-net: It has been a long time since I have been in Senbeb Cafe. A friend of mine from New York suggested to go here to eat. I was reluctant but wanted to give them another chance. We ordered and both of us were disappointed. The food was very bland, over-cooked and definitely needed seasoning. The sweet potato side dish looked like it came from a can and had no seasoning. The Crispy Portabella was tasteless and soggy. Added to this was the individual behind the counter who had a "I do not want to be here" vibe and this energy contributed to our overall not so favorable experience. Now I KNOW why I did not want to eat at this establishment...it has not changed. The food is definitely overpriced and not worth the money they charge. This is unfortunate because I did anticipate to continue to support them but Senbeb has lost me as a customer...period.

Equinox Restaurant: what do users think?

Joshua Wiley: Went here for one of my many birthday dinners. As a new vegetarian this place definitely had a menu with me in mind. I was stuffed when I left. We had the menu with five courses and enjoyed every single one of them. Amazing. Would definitely go again, don’t know the price because i didn’t pay. 😇

Archana Raju: This place has been on my must try restaurants list forever, and finally made it on my birthday. We tried the five course meal. While each dish was carefully thought through and well presented, I think the beet salad didn’t really work (it was bitter) and grilled eggplant was a bit bland. Though I don’t typically enjoy mushrooms as much, I was blown by the Hen of mushrooms dish, and absolute winner. Overall, I would recommend this place!

Sunny Sanghani: Enjoyed the vegan brunch menu; lots of food and all tasted great.

Angela Su: We came for restaurant week and it was a great deal! Loved the plant based options. We had to wait 15 min for our table after we arrived on time for our reservation but it was worth it once we were seated. The mushroom dish was delicious and the portions for all courses were huge. Definitely ended the meal full and satisfied.

Henry Jones: A friend of my family told me ages ago to eat sometime at Equinox. I finally did this evening and am so glad. I had the truffled macaroni and cheese to begin, which was served in a mini cast iron vessel and tasted of cheese and herbs in a way that I could never achieve at home. Then I had the fennel-spiced Mediterranean turbot filet. The staff were very proud of the turbot—one saw it as he walked past and said, “oh you ordered the turbot,” with a big smile. If I were on the staff of a place that served food like this, I would be very proud, too. The turbot was meaty, slightly flaky, and golden on top. It was served on a bed of spinach, a carrot, roasted heart of palm, and braised endive, and there was an orange sauce. It was garnished with fried rings which I think were potatoes and there were red berries, too. I was there for an early dinner, having planned for a long afternoon at the National Gallery followed by early dinner before the final leg of a train trip from NYC to Virginia. The staff made sure the timing was right for me to get to the train and that I knew how to get to Union Station. What thoughtful people and exquisite food. I can hardly wait to eat at Equinox again.

Celal Gulluoglu: Fine dining? Please first repair the failing of the bathroom. Service was below average. They were carrying the beverage with their bare hands and holding the soup bowls on top of the bowls. Not even under it. Automatically added gratuity which is not written at anywhere. Full price charge for the kids under 10 years old? Tasting brunch menu was definitely not worth the price. Desserts were horrible. They were literally sliced protein bar, store bought mini cupcakes and coconut bites and they call it Brandi’s assorted desserts. Felt like scammed. Will never return 👎

The Girls: The zero-waste concept sounds great but didn’t see it happening within the menu. The apps and first courses were better than the main dishes. The dust devil drink is fab. Oddly, many of the plants were plastic. And the chairs stored in the ladies’ room makes it NOT wheelchair accessible. The kind and attentive servers were grand.

Founding Farmers DC: what do users think?

Tyler Davis: Quality food and drinks! Stopped by while out and about visiting DC with the family. Short walk from several metro stations. Reserved a table during lunchtime the morning we went and was seated minutes after we showed up. Staff was attentive and my drink was never empty. Reasonable prices for the quality food you get considering the location and love the bar menu. Was recommended this place by several people and it was quickly apparent why. Will definitely visit again next time we are in DC!

Konstantinos Rizakos: We were seated promptly at our reservation time. The hosts and servers were polite and effective, albeit the food and drinks took a while to come out. Everything was very very tasty. The meat in particular. Try the prime rib, and the pork chops - but you may want to ask that they cook less than you usually like because ours were slightly over cooked.

Kimberly Giang: Omg so yummy. Visited DC for the first time and found this restaurant for breakfast. It definitely did not disappoint! It was so yummy we came back the next morning. We reserved a table online and good thing we did because it gets crowded fast. Our table was ready when we arrived and all of the staff was very friendly. Food came out fast. The French toast was so unique and tasted amazing. I loved the Eggs Benedict and how crispy the hash browns were! Definitely would come back!

WooDo Jedi: Good service! Our server was outstanding. (Front hostess and host didn’t make us feel welcome though - we felt like cattle coming through the door). Our orders came our timely and had that flavor profile that spoke of home. We would definitely return here!

Frankie Painter: This is our 3rd time here and WOW, everything we’ve ever ordered has been amazing! We always start with the honey cornbread and this time I got Scallops Meunière with butternut squash risotto and my husband got catfish with grits and green beans. My scallops were cooked to perfection - they cut like butter. The atmosphere here is warm and cozy but lively, although there were way less people this time because of social distancing restrictions. Our waiter was super! We had to show an ID and proof of vaccination. Highly, highly recommend!!

Ying Liang: Friend took me here for dinner when I visited DC. We went on a late weekday evening. Definitely call for reservations ahead of time because it was incredibly crowded. I’m not sure how long we would’ve had to wait if we didn’t plan for that. Our waitress was very nice, food took a while, probably because it was so busy! So plan some time to catch up and relax. It was sort of dark and loud but the restaurant still had nice ambiance. I got the chicken and waffles… and oh my goodness, it was the best fried chicken and the best waffles I’ve ever had. So freaking good. The green beans were crunchy/fresh and the mac and cheese was decent. Not sure what sauce it came with but I was enjoying it! I would probably try to get here for early brunch next time instead. Definitely recommend you stop by if you get the chance.

Goose Prevot: Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking over towards the Lincoln Memorial. The atmosphere was awesome. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I liked that the craft cocktail spirits were distilled by the restaurant. We were able to purchase a bottle to take home as well. The food was very tasty. It is a definite try if you are around the area.

Shouk: what do users think?

Ryan Briggs: Super yummy. I stopped in for dinner, ordered the mushroom bowl over greens with hummus and falafel added; plus a cardamom chocolate chip cookie. The bowl was both tart and savory with the pickling and mushrooms. A good mixture. I was really glad that I added the falafel since this was for dinner, it made the dish feel filling and was nicely complimentary. The cookie was nice, moist and chocolaty, but I like a regular chewy chocolate chip cookie more. It was good for being vegan :) The service was good, the eating area was clean. I liked the Israeli music that was playing. No reason to not come back for more :)

Luke Chang: Restaurant layout was unique. Kiosks we’re simple to figure out. There were both indoor and outdoor seating options. 2 unisex bathrooms. Foods was delicious. Restaurant was clean. Bathroom was clean. Service and staffs were spot on. First time here, had a positive experience. Definitely recommend grabbing a bite here, especially if you’re looking for a non-meat option.

JT Mitchell: Too many great options but I settled on the Shouk Burger. The burger is meaty and has great flavor. Pickled veg adds a satisfying crunch. Pita is like a soft pillow. Hummus was so creamy it made me wanna cry. The cookie was the most average part of the meal and even so had a memorable cardamom flavor. Highly recommend.

Haleigh Eppler: I loved the plant based concept. It was a great place to take my vegan family. They also had numerous gluten free options available. I had a fried mushroom shawarma with a rice and lentil bowl. It was great. I loved the harissa Mayo on top.

Cortney Palm: Good food, fast service, cute location. Not great parking anywhere - street parking. The flavors can get annoying halfway through the meal. But otherwise it’s very good, creative and flavorful and feels healthy. I like the shouk sauce and the “chicken” made from mushrooms. The shouk burgers are good and the sweet potato fries are tasty. The cookies are pricey and I’d give the 🍪 a “B”. I love the eco friendly packaging.

Vanessa S.: Great place! We were looking for a lunch spot and I am so glad we stumbled over SHOUK. Pretty ambiance and very nice dining area. It was hard to choose a dish because everything on the menu sounds delicious. We decided to try the Mushroom shawarma, the dizengoff salad, spice fries and hummus. Everything was so good!! Hummus is amazing, great job. Highly recommend it

Beefsteak: what do users think?

Dewita Soeharjono: This is not an exclusive vegetarian place. Instead those who eats meat can eat a combo of piles up of veggies with egg or fish or even chicken sausage. I ordered Tuna Up today. It has raw veg, cooked veg, a not of tuna and poached egg. Eat something different today. Love it! And also love chef Jose Andres with all his humanitarian work

Johan Karlsteen: Fantastic and healthy food! Not very often I put those two words in the same sentence but it happened at Beefsteak. Cool concept where they boil your vegetables and add protein, rice/noodles and sauce. Kombucha on tap was great too!

Sisi Koleva (siscenceto): Delicious and affordable! My friend and I had the lentil curry and it was delicious! She added mozzarella and I added seaweed so it was a bit of a fusion (confusion) meal, but it’s great to be able to add and remove things freely. I am definitely going back!

Nicole Coomber: I was happy to discover a Beefsteak in Foggy Bottom. The restaurant combines eating healthy & decadence with luxurious vegetable ingredients, and amazing extras like salt-cured salmon and poached egg. I also love the juice blends, and they now have craft kombucha. It’s more than just salad, too, since you can get your veggies steamed in a bowl.

Chris Smith: Man this place is amazing. A vegetarians dream place. You can build your own bowl or get some of the pictured "burgers". Tons of flavor and very affordable. The house made juice is also amazing.

Suji Mao: This is not your typical vegetarian restaurant. They actually have flavorful food that is healthy too. I had the squash bowl with everything on it that you normally get. If you want you can customize your dish to your liking.

Richa Bhatt: This place is so good. I have never eaten in the location before, I normally grab take out and take it back to work but I have ordered the Faux Joe (not pictured) and The Goat. Both are so good. Both of these dishes were so fresh and delicious and the price is so reasonable. Additionally, the folks that work here are so nice as well. I really love this place.

MiMo OmEarth: Their Eden and Mushroom bowls are delicious... I love this spot! 🤩💗🧘🏿

HipCityVeg: what do users think?

Gabby Ruiz: INCREDIBLE LATE NIGHT OPTION IN DC! This place is a MUST. As a grad student, I normally don’t eat dinner until LATE, and luckily Thursday-Saturday they’re open until 2am!! I had the Philly cheesesteak and the vanilla milkshake (all vegan of course). It seriously hit the spot, and I love the late night option.

Elaina Genthe: The door was so loud and squeaky everyone sitting by it got up and moved. Like ear-piercing, nails on chalk board. The food was pretty quick, the BFG smoothie took longer but it was delicious. The sweet potato fries with the aioli were delicious. The chikn wrap (fajita I think?) was not good. No flavor. Very bland. I’d come back to try something else on the menu but take it to-go.

Shaina Z: I took a pleasant stroll in Dupont Circle neighborhood and I came across a wonderful veggie joint. I just started to stop in because I originally was going to go to a day party, however due to the massive turn out and my fear of catching Covid I decided not to enter into the building. And instead use my money to enjoy a tasty savory “burger”. Now this hip city veg joint seemed very inviting from eyeing them from across the street. A lot of bright colors very open and airy floor to ceiling windows and clean marketing spaces. The entire menu is veggie so not to worry for all you vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian lovers. If you have a craving of chicken, steak, or burger, this is your place! Without harboring all of the guilt. I had a tasty Ziggy burger with the famous special sauce. I will definitely come back and try their “chikn -nuggets”. My only suggestion would be to explain on the menu what a customer is actually eating (detailed ingredients- some people are allergic to soy etc). I know whats in Beyond burgers however I don’t know what kind of plant-based meat is used for the other options. I had to ask the plant manager -(very cute play on word play on their apron) ☺️

Maya Bailey: As someone with food allergies HipCityVeg is a dream! There are so many options that are dairy, egg, peanut, sesame, and treenut free, which makes me feel safe dining in and ordering out! In addition, late night delivery on the weekend has been really great for me as a busy college student!! Absolutely LOVE HipCityVeg!!

Victor Amaya: The burgers are tasty! Sauces also were good! Definitely nice to have vegan options in DC

sweetgreen Dupont: what do users think?

Nils Hünerfürst: Always great to have a solid place for healthy food. Thank you sweetgreen for existing.

Laura Delgado: Everything was good today except for when I found a bug attached to one of the spinach leaves in my chicken chimichurri bowl... Staff should be instructed to wash greens better, I am pretty sure that is the problem because the leaf looked like it had been munched on by that bug for a while (not me!). Yuck.

Bob Collopy: While I like sweetgreens, this branch consistently has less than fresh produce. The salad itself seems to be properly handled, but other ingredients like broccoli, chickpeas, apples, etc seem to have been left out for far too long. Maybe just go during the lunch rush because it seems to be mostly the same stuff by closing time.

Sophie: Delicious food. I usually make my own salads. They make for a good, hearty meal and their bread (especially when warm) is delicious.

Debby Stahl: Love this place!! First time there and I really wish that we had one in Lancaster, Pa. Does anyone know how to get in touch with them and ask them to come to Pennsylvania? I would be going there a lot. Vegan friendly and very tasty.

Aparna Soni: Delicious salads and bowls. Ingredients are super fresh and dressings are amazing. Love the spicy Thai vegan salad! Great for a quick healthy meal.

Ah Ar: I just replaced an order today . and i was not happy with the bowl. The salad was very dry and the bowl was almost empty with a tiny slice of fish. I know this is not a Sweetgreen standar. Concerned customer.

Kia Orion: if you’ve been to one SG you’ve pretty much been to em all food wise. but what warranted this review was the staff. the supervisor Alex made my day. super nice guy and put up with all my annoying requests for extra things. we got to chatting and he gave me some great recommendations for places around the city and other spots too. worth the trip just for the sweet folks who work here

Phoenix Moonlilly Show: Excellent food! Not too pricey and one bowl can feed two

Teaism Penn Quarter: what do users think?

Jon and Amanda Lewis: Stopped in for a quick snack after visiting the National Gallery of Art. Ordered a traditional bubble tea and a Salty Oat cookie (like an oatmeal raisin). Both were excellent. The rest of the menu looked fun. There are some sandwiches and bento boxes. Want to come back!

Karina Kisselite: There was a lot of sitting - the place has two floors. Their menu is kind of fun - an Asian fusion. The taste was just ok though. Not bad, but not smth to come back for. We had noodles with veggies and chicken okonomiyaki. Chocolate salted oatmeal cookie for dessert - that one was good. The place has a great selection of tees. A bit on a dirtier side when it gets busy. You order upstairs and have to wait for them to call your order.

Trev: I was walking to my car when I stumbled across this Tea shop. Atmosphere was great soon as I walked in. I tried The lavender lemon mint and the Korean beef brisket sandwich . It was amazing no complaints from me! I love the vibes in the shop for sure I really recommend giving this a try ! 5/5 from me for my 1st time 👍🏼

Proficient Potato: Not your traditional bubble tea offering, but they have so many other flavors I haven’t tried before! They also have warm food options, and have a binder with all of the Allergens for each dish and if contains meat right by the order counter! The food I got was great, warm, filling, and well spiced. First place I’ve had a paper boba straw!

Elias Chelala: A huge selection of teas complimented with an Asian fusion menu. I ordered the Okonomiyaki and my friend ordered the Korean Brisket sandwich. I also ordered the sweet matcha tea and added boba. My friend ordered regular black tea with boba. The tea was very refreshing on a hot DC day and we both left satisfied.

Zachary Tyler: Amazing blend of tasty, reasonably priced food with high quality and traditional varieties of tea. The silver needle white tea was amazing.

Yessenia C: The food is so delicious! Their chicken bento box is a must have, it comes with cold sweet potatoes and cold broccoli!. The onion sauce is dynamite! Their Korean brisket sandwich is really good. The sweet Japanese green tea (matcha) is refreshing. The teas are really good as well. 2 doors down they have a tea shop. UPDATE as of 5/18/22 They have brought back the panko fried chicken! I was told the menu will be changing soon.

NuVegan Cafe: what do users think?

Jasmine: Godel was one of the friendliest cashiers I’ve ever met! He needs a $100 raise, like now. This was my first time visiting and he was a great introduction to this restaurant. The portions were generous which I highly appreciated because although it was expensive, it made me feel as though I got my money’s worth. Anything less would feel a bit like a rip off. The food was sooo good that I had to remind my self to breathe while I was eating. Had enough to devour the next day for breakfast (because I couldn’t wait till lunch). As a vegetarian foodie from the south, I 100% approve this place. The ambience here was beautiful. It was so nice to see so many black people dining in and enjoying vegan food! I love what this place stands for and what it’s doing for our community!!! ✊🏽❤️

Ankita Naithani: Really nice vegan cafe with entrees and hot/cold side dishes to choose from. You can choose to have a side dish with your entree or simply just take an entree as every dish is individually priced which gives a lot to flexibility to everyone and something to bear in mind while you order! We love their vegan drumsticks and always go back for those and their tofu side dishes are well made too!

Nils Hünerfürst: Was at the NuVegan Cafe with my wife and kids. Everyone enjoyed their food. The Black Bean Burger was well done and all the sides look well crafted. I didn’t liked the loud music.

Nancy Cosner: I got chicken drummies, okra, and Mac and cheese. The potions are huge. This will make several meals. Everything is very tasty and delicious. The wait staff were very helpful. The facilities were spotless. My first visit. Will surely return.

Leila Bournes: Generous portions could easily feed 3 people. I love the mac, collards, sweet potatoes. Everything is awesome. Ask for a sample to try before buying it if youve never had it.

Fab Dzul: Extremely delicious food, seasoned to perfection. The location is ok cared for and friendly staff. Worth a shot

Mondy Telfort: I really wanted to like this due to all the great reviews, but I was not a fan. I’m giving some more stars because the staff was very nice, the atmosphere was great, and I loved the music. I tried the Mac and Cheese, Chicken, and Collard Greens. They all tasted like they had a boatload of salt in it. I couldn’t even finish a decent portion of my meal because the taste of all that sodium was overpowering the food. It wasn’t hot either. The chicken also had a pretty rubbery texture and I didn’t feel like it imitated real chicken as much as some other vegan chicken I’ve tried. It kind of felt like I was chewing on elastic the way the pieces were getting caught in my teeth. I also tried the Cinnamon Roll which was probably the upside of my meal. But, even that tasted like a mound of sugar and pretty dry/hard. I could’ve done without the meal, personally. Though, I still think it’s good to have this option for those who are vegan or not. I just wish they didn’t overcompensate on the salt/sugar.

DM Mills: Their food was really good. We’re from Richmond and were in Dc for the day. When I looked up vegan restaurants NuVegan came up. I’ve eaten their food from the one in Richmond. It was really good. It was my husband’s first time eating there. He was really impressed with the food. We ate there and got food to go. It was just as good as the one in Richmond.

Steve Smith: Solid 4.5 rating! Interesting vegan restaurant that allows you to sample the food before ordering which is very helpful! The food is behind a glass case, cafeteria style in metal bins, and the workers fill take out containers with the food you order. The servings are generous and neither of my 18 year old twins could finish their dinners. One of my sons rated it 5 stars and the other 4 stars… wish there was a 1/2 star rating as well = 4.5 stars. We are visiting DC and this beautiful city has no shortage of amazing vegetarian/vegan eateries which NuVegan Cafe is among! PS the Vegan Chick’n Drummies were the highlight of their NuVegan Cafe experience.

Sticky Fingers Diner: what do users think?

Alyssa Miron: I get overwhelmed when I find a vegan place with this many amazing options. The chick’n tenders were so good paired with a salad, and I took home some tofu “egg salad”. I’ll be back for a Buffalo chick’n wrap and all the pastries. This place is a gem!!! Very attentive service too.

Stacey Maresco: Loved the atmosphere of this place! Definite diner vibes — but 100% vegan food! We ordered a salad, the Mac & cheese and the crazy bones brownie (which was also GF). We liked the food and service was so so. Only thing that would have made this better was more attentive servers. Vibe was great (so was the dessert!)

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: There’s this new’ish Vegan spot on H street in N.E. D.C. The moment I heard about it, I made plans to go!! I went, they have REALLY tasty food, & I ate well. MY experience however…left me feeling unwelcome & slighted (see my customer service segment). . Where I am: @stickyfingersdiner . Location Reviewed: 406 H St., N.E. Washington D.C. . Menu Includes: All Day Breakfast; French Toast, Pancakes, Potatoes, Seitan & Waffles, Impossible Sausage Croissant, Tofu, Corn “Beef” Cabbage, Vegan Calamari, Buffalo Wraps, Pasta Salads, Beyond Burger, Baked Goods, Candy, Beverages, Cocktails, & Shakes. . Items Reviewed: Their Seitan $ Waffles (with 100% maple syrup & hot sauce $14). The fried chicken like Seitan…STAMP!! Crispy & well seasoned!! The waffles were DELICIOUS! Their French Onion Soup (with crostini & smoked Violife slices $8). STAMP!! Flavorful, mild & warm!! Their Oyster Mushroom Calamari (with marinara & a lemon wedge $10). STAMP!! Fried to perfection, you may not even know that these are mushrooms!! Their Roasted Potatoes (with gravy & garlic aioli-$1, $5.75). STAMP!! Undeniably tasty, especially with the gravy & aioli!! Their Chocolate Tiramisu-$8, & Their, non-alcoholic Chai Lemon Fizz-$6). STAMP both of these items!! Delectable, moist tiramisu, & that superbly refreshing fizz!! Get these!! . Customer Service: Bluntly, I wasn’t greeted, or welcomed when I walked in. I was uncomfortably stared at after I greeted the host, I had to ask about seating & how the ordering process worked. So when the patrons that sat next to me were welcomed, asked if it were their first time there, and had the ordering process explained to them w/o asking, I was disappointed. Nobody said anything wrong to me, and I was serviced promptly, but the extra care & concern that those customers received should be standard for all customers. . Online Navigation: Simple . Parking: Rough/Metered/Enforced . Recommendations: The Soup, Potatoes, Tiramisu, Calamari, & definitely the Fizz!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=STAMP ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️➕=A.DELICIOUS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=DELICIOUS ⭐️⭐️⭐️=DECENT ⭐️⭐️=PASS ⭐️=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

Harmony Hitchner: The food came out looking like an ad! Beautiful, but according to the family it was just as tasty as it looked! I didn’t get a pic of other food because it was gone before I knew it. The service was beyond amazing! Very sweet , and very helpful staff. I just wished they had more allergy friendly food. But overall, would absolutely bring friends and family back to eat there!!

Zack Bloom: This place is unbelievable. The perogie are so good! The poutine was also shockingly great. Don’t miss the Chocolate Egg Cream (no real egg involved of course, it’s all vegan!).

Linda Zh: Average to below average vegan food. The seitan “chicken” was decent but the waffle was soggy. Funfetti cake slice was dense and one-note with its sweetness. The mac and cheese was extremely disappointing - the mac was very thick and flavorless, and it was not adequately coated by the cheese sauce. When we were seated, the hostess mentioned that there’s a 20% service fee included with each order. Fine, but then there’s an additional tip section in the checkout, and the 20% option is the default option. I wouldn’t mind tipping except there’s really no service at all. You scan the QR code to open the menu and order online, and then someone brings the food to you. There’s no one to check on you or refill water. Not a good experience.

L Ram: Can we please get a Fare Well in Atlanta! I’m so thankful I had several vegan options when visiting D.C., I knew after reading reviews I had to visit Fare Well and I’m so glad I did Very small but charming diner serving breakfast all day (Wednesday – Sunday), they also have a bar for people interested in adult beverages. Saturday and Sunday they have a brunch menu. I visited late Sunday around 3pm and there was not wait but it was pretty full inside. I was dining solo and unfortunately couldn’t try too many items, I definitely wanted to try the Buffalo Cauliflower ($12) and it was SO GOOD! I cleaned the bowl and really wish I had this recipe. Its spicy whipped cashew and cauliflower dip served with soy and sheet free tortilla chips. For my entrée I ordered Chilaquiles ($13). It was very filling and a large portion, I couldn’t finish my dish. I loved all of the ingredients and thought it was flavorful but did add some hot sauce since I like my food to have a little spice. The Chilaquiles included tofu scramble, black beans, poblanos, roasted tomato rojo sauce and cilantro crema served with roasted potatoes. I also added avocado ($3). Service was okay, my food was served with a smile which I appreciate.

Vikram Singh: One of the best vegan spots in DC. I had the Perogies with sweet potato poutine and Oreo milkshake. Everything was delicious! I’m just sad it took me this long to get here.

HipCityVeg: what do users think?

Jasmine: OH MY!!! Best sweet potato fries ever. I had PLNT burger earlier that day and they don’t have anything on Hip City Veg. I truly believe this was the best vegan burger I’ve ever had. The burger was very flavorful. However, the nuggets are my only complaint. They were too tiny to not come with more. It felt like I ordered them off of the kids menu. Please make your nuggets bigger or include more! Otherwise, I’m a very happy camper. Side note: Come to Boston… pretty please with a cherry on top?

Patti Dybdahl: There is not a lot of seating. There were some rude ladies in there sitting next to each other taking up 4 seats for the two of them taking forever so others couldn’t take a seat. Point there, not a lot of seating. We are not Vegan but wanted to try it. The smokehouse burger was good. Chicken nuggets were good too. Sweet potato fries were also good. Kale lemonade was good and the fruit punch was tasty. Overall food was good but I thought it was expensive. I thought the staff was friendly and helpful. I’d try this again during warmer weather when I don’t mind taking it to go and eating outside.

Kevin Kato: I’m glad my daughter is vegan, I’m not but it gave me the opportunity to eat here. Otherwise I never would have searched it up! Awesome burgers and sweet potato fries! The drinks were good too, Kevin(staff) recommended the kale lemonade glad he did, it was delicious. Good food made fresh, the fries really crispy, and the staff were really friendly too!

Alejandro Nuñez-Jimenez: Delicious healthy fast food. Both the Udom Noodle Salad and the BFG smoothie were delicious (and refreshing for a hot summer day in DC). Even on a Sunday, the place was relatively busy at Noon. There are not many seats, so you may have to take it to go. Pricing is fair, not particularly cheap. The staff was correct. I would put it on the top of my list for healthy quick bites.

Sabrina Drew: AMAZING!! As a vegan, it’s always great to find places like these when traveling. The atmosphere was very nice, and the food was phenomenal. I would try everything on the menu if I could!

Crystal Sings: I wish I would have gotten the names of the staff at this restaurant on Sunday, November 14th. This evening staff was awesome 😎 all of the staff this evening was super helpful and outgoing. This was my first time dining here and my experience was great 😊 Thank you Sunday evening staff!!!! I will be back 😍

The Shameless Foodie: The best vegan burgers/sandwiches I’ve ever had. Honestly, could be one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had, vegan or not. I highly recommend the Crispy HipCity Ranch sandwich. It tastes like a fried chicken sandwich, and the sauce they have on it is delicious. And it’s still crispy after driving to my destination before eating it. The Disco Chick’n is also good. It’s a grilled chicken sandwich option with garlic aioli on it. Also very good, but my favorite is still the crispy HipCity Ranch. I got their sweet potato fries too - absolutely delicious. Crispy, crunchy, sweet, and soft on the inside. Plus it comes with 2 sauces of your choice. I recommend one of them be the sriracha aioli for a little kick. Also, try their kale lemonade. It pretty much just tastes like lemonade but it is just the right amount of sweet and very refreshing. I highly recommend it and would go way out of my way to come here. Solid 5 stars.

YOUNG-i The GOD: Before today I haven’t been here since they first opened. Glad to see the menu has been extended. First of all the cashier Jasmine was excellent. I forgot my mask in the car and she flew me in with a fresh one. Food came out fast and hot. Nuggets we’re on point and the sauce. Not usually fan of these type of fries but they were ok. Had the turmeric drink that was a1 also real light not too sweet.

Teaism Lafayette Park: what do users think?

Vy H.: My new favorite lunch spot!! Don’t be fooled by the name of the restaurant—it’s not just teas here—there’s a good variety of food options to eat! I’ve been here three times this past month just to try a variety of their dishes and so far have not been let down. Highly recommend the “bento boxes” for lunch—it’s a huge portion with your meat option and three sides. My favorites are the Korean Beef Brisket and Panko Fried Chicken Bento Boxes! If you’re not feeling the bento box style, you can order these as “side dishes” which is a huge portion too. The Thai Chicken Curry is also delicious—tons of chicken meat and well flavored. It’s a cafe style—you order at the register, wait for your food and then bring it to your table. Food comes out fairly quick!

Alicia Parsons: We had a really great experience at Teaism. The food was delicious, there was a lot of it, and the customer service was awesome. I personally recommend the Thai Chicken Curry. The sauce was exquisite, and the chicken was juicy. I also recommend the cabbage butts. The sauce used for this dish provides the perfect taste. And of course the tea, Kuding Tiasne, and ginger limeade very good.

Rachel Ramoni: Love the ambiance, the quick and healthy food, and the nice people. The veggie curry just did not have enough flavor, and much of it was made up of a vegetable that was quite tough. Either it was undercooked or should be cut into much smaller pieces. But it was very pretty, and I will return here!

Jennifer Leon: The bubble tea was by far the best we have had since leaving Taiwan (where bubble tea was first made) but their menu options were a bit pricey. We got the udon noodles with vegetables and the ginger broth was strange. The soup was beautiful to look at but there was a rancid flavor to it like when garlic is over cooked. Also the basil just does not go well with the udon noodles. The atmosphere was lovely and we will definitely go back for the bubble tea.

Mark Wiatrowski: Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. Best breakfast and tea in DC. Views of The White House. Paris on the Potomac! Japanese inspired dishes for breakfast or lunch. Go!

Christian Mai: Great breakfast place. Super nice service and ambience inside and outside. The outside seating is great. I can highly recommend the scrambled eggs with jalapeños and salmon on the side.

A Verma: Great place to enjoy an Asian inspired meal and yummy deserts. We enjoyed a quiet spot by the window looking out at the fountain. Highly recommend it.

Sara R.: Another great experience at Teaism. I usually visit the Dupont circle location, but deviated from the norm and tried this location instead. The oatmeal had a great consistentcy neither too runny nor too thick) Only downside was that it took surprisingly long for a simple order of oatmeal to be prepared.

ELife Restaurant (Everlasting Life Vegan Restaurant): what do users think?

K R: So I’m not vegan but I’m lactose intolerant and I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ate. The chicken filet tasted like chicken. The mac and cheese was creamy, seasoned, and didn’t have the weird after taste of other dairy free cheeses. The cheesecake was sweet and creamy and I was impressed. It’s definitely a takeout spot so expect to get your food and leave or enjoy it in the car because there’s no where to sit. Other than that the food is bomb!

Ariel Dunn: If you are looking for a reason to eat here, I hope this review gives you that reason. The best vegan “soul”food I have ever had! You can also warm it up the next day and it’s still delicious. That gives them 5 ⭐️ in my book! I ordered Curry chicken, original Mac & cheese, and collard greens.

Asa Barbour: I appreciate this jewel in the county that I grew up. It’s certainly one of a kind, generational word of mouth restaurant with a tight loyal customer base community. They also sell very good reads and handcrafted jewelry/clothing and natural skin care. Pros: Black Owned Health Forward Culturally Responsive 100% Vegan Community focused Multifaceted Bookstore Sit down / Stage ready Friendly Authentic staff Cons: Not Organic Hodgepodge atmosphere Unprofessional aesthetic All in al I love this place, only wish they’d modernize a bit to keep up with what their market needs.

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: Looking for some guilt free soul food? I got a spot for you @eliferestaurant will feed your heart, soul, and mind with hearty, savory, healthy, all vegan food. They have locations at 1231 Good Hope Rd S.E., Washington D.C.( inside the Anacostia Arts Center), 341 Cedar St., N.W. Washington D.C., and the location,I went to, at 9185 Central Ave., Capitol Heights Maryland. This spot has a diverse menu that rotates daily. For instance, on Monday they’ll have Chicken fillet, varying flavors of drumettes, Curried chicken, spaghetti casserole, rosemary tofu, fried chicken patties, seaweed wrapped fish patties, and original or cashew Mac n cheese, as entrees for the day. They also have rotating sides like Kale greens, collard greens, candied yams, battered cauliflower, green cabbage, beans, and brown rice on their menu for Monday’s. Again their entree menu changes daily, however their sides menu generally stays the same, and I see why with their deliciously dope dairy free, Mac n cheese’s they have!! I ordered from their Wednesday menu and got the eggplant Parmesan entree (pictured $15.50) with their signature original Mac n cheese, and yams. The entree left more to be desired since I am a eggplant enthusiast. Their Yams and Mac have always been delectable, and if you have not tried these items before...they are a must have. I also got their infamous maple drumettes (pictured $5). Geesh Louise these things are tasty!! Rich in flavor and I swear you wouldn’t know they weren’t real chicken!! Last but not least I had their vegan chocolate cake (pictured $5). It was moist, tasteful, and dense with chocolate!! Their customer service was attentive, and welcoming, I had not one issue at all, although I wasn’t in this particular spot during peak hours. Parking was kind of rough at this location via construction happening in the area. Overall this spot is a must go to...consistently!! That’s it. **These establishments are Covid compliant**. #foodie #vegan #healthylifestyle #dmvfoodie #veganmacandcheese #everlastinglife #firstbite #goodeats #cheapeats #blackowned #yams #eggplant #desert #vegandrumsticks #maryland #pgcounty #resturants #bigschlimsreviews

Farmers Fishers Bakers: what do users think?

Ardavan Tookaloo: It is a very cozy restaurant and bar. There is option to seat inside or outside with heaters for winter. Servers are so nice and friendly. The atmosphere is good. The food is fresh and tasty. Drinks are good too. Just remember it is always crowded and packed. Even if you make a reservation you might still wait for another 45 minutes and that’s what has happened to us however the hostess was so kind and offered us a couple starters on the house to cover for the delay. Update: the more I go here the more I love it, specially the crews and managers! They are the best! Last time/night we were there late to celebrate a birthday and we ordered burgers with fries, after 15 min our waiter came back to us informing us they are out and offered us free desert to make up for it! The food is great as always but these kinds of attitudes and kindness is something we love and respect. Thank you guys we had a great night with great deserts! The chocolate ice cream which I believe is home made is a must to try! Super delicious!

Kenzi LA Toy: A beautiful environment, the ambience was amazing. The server informative, but the orders compromised and wrong. I ordered the Honey Pot Chicken with fries as ah replacement but had the remind the server of my request because I received the original order with grits. Once I did get my fries there was hair added to my order. It was irritating! They finally brought out my fries and ah manager. The manager comp. Us dessert but part of the dessert order was wrong. All in all, in patience and understanding we had ah great time! Please note - everything here is made fresh. So ordering a soda means canned and no free refills! Just saying... #ᑕᕼOOᔕEᕼᗩᑭᑭY !

Kent Brackin: Great food and drinks. Everything seems to come with a mint topping so if thats not your thing might want pay extra care to the menu. There was plenty of seating when we went for brunch but i would suggesting making a reservation because it started to fill up over the two hours we were there. Breakfast stops promptly at 11 AM so make sure you plan according if you want try their amazing waffles! Bathrooms only have 3 urinials/1 toilet for male and two for the females so a line can quickly form trying to go. Waitresses/waiters seem really knowledgeable about the menu items but sometimes their response time can be less than ideal especially once the restaurant starts to feel up, but overall o had a great experience and look forward to going again!

Tina Marbury: The atmosphere was pleasant and the decor was admirable. The server arrived with a smile and an eagerness to assist and please our first visit here. The food although amazingly plated arrived tepid and bland. However, the alcoholic drink served was very good.

Y Li: This is a nice and vibrant American restaurant. We opted for the outdoor lunch. Highly recommend the Mussel Pot in White Wine & Garlic, serviced w. their specialty rustic white boule bread, fluffy and lightly chewy, perfect balance dipping in the wine sauce. Shrimp fries and biscuits are tasty. Our lady server was warm and considerately brought one extra pot of hot water for the green tea pot to be shared.

Jessica R: I was really excited to eat here based on several recommendations. However, I was a bit disappointed. We had breakfast here on a Friday morning and it wasn’t very busy when we got there. We still had to wait awhile on a table which we were okay with. I got the chicken and waffles and I felt as though for the price I was paying the piece of chicken was rather small and I maybe received a teaspoon of gravy. The chicken was also mostly breading and not a lot of meat. I also didn’t get any butter for my waffles and the waffles were just room temperature at best. The service was rather slow throughout the meal and unfortunately when you are waiting on something for your food (like the butter), then your food gets cold. I also got a Bloody Mary which was mediocre and slightly watered down, but I am kind of picky about my Bloody Mary’s so it was just one I didn’t like as much as others I’ve had. I am still giving three stars because my mom enjoyed her meal and didn’t have any complaints about her food. She just did the “build your meal” option and thought it was good.

TexCat: WONDERFUL lunch here. This is a great spot. Trendy restaurant with a cool vibe. Great service. Wonderful food and drinks. Ordered the mussels in wine and garlic sauce. Truly one of the best dish of mussels I’ve ever had! The accompanying bread was marvelous also! Couldn’t resist the bread pudding 😋 Highly recommend

FIG & OLIVE: what do users think?

Yubin Kim: Each plate is contemplated. It is not hard to note the chefs here have a complete understanding of each ingredients used to make their dishes. Every bite was a harmonic perfection. Not to mention the interior and exterior of this restaurant is matched to concept. Had a lovely lunch dining!

Ruben Costa: Beautiful place, nice ambience, good service. The food was delicious and well cooked, nice presentation. Even the drinks were wonderful and everything was full of flavor.

Jonathan French: We decided to try here after reading about it online. The food was delicious and the ambience was just as good. We chose to sit outside because we came without a reservation and the inside wasn’t available. Outside worked well, though because the weather was perfect. I ordered the grilled tuna sandwich and it hit the spot. Seared well and the seasonings complimented the fish. The bread was also nice and crunchy. We also ordered a Mediterranean egg dish…I can’t recall the name but it was also fantastic. The sauce the eggs are in were full of flavor…honestly, it exceeded our expectations. Finally, I ordered the signature cocktail that was nice and cold. Perfect for starting the day… The waitstaff was super friendly and courteous, as well. Really happy with the whole experience. It’s located right in the middle of CityCenterDC. So if you’re in that area, worth stopping by.

Amik Maytesyan: Mac and cheese was super good hundred percent recomend, and the atlantic salmon was amazing, the truffle fries were the best fries we had.

Soraya H: I highly recommend Fig& Olive to DC visitors, service is always consistent. I went for brunch, I liked that the menu wasn’t overwhelming with options. I had the cauliflower salad which was delicious, I ordered a side of salmon because I thought the salad alone wouldn’t be filling - I was wrong, salad was very fulfilling. My partner got the fig & olive burger and said it was great. We had the Spanish octopus as a shared appetizer and it was also very tasty. Speciality cocktails were also a hit.

Riccardo Renna: would suggest to have the host at the entrance to get a bit more organized. The reservation online is used to avoid to have people getting clustered at their arrival, avoiding "traffic jams" at the door. But overall nothing than positive words about the rest

Quenita Simms: The Salmon was decent, but I’ve had better. The environment was pretty mellow. The decor was pretty. Unfortunately, they had mosquitoes and I got bit up pretty bad on the top floor. You can dress up or down. Their cocktails are also pretty good. Especially the lavender one. The service was great as well. Id give it another try.

Keren Cafe & Restaurant: what do users think?

Yongjian Si: A cute family style Eritrean restaurant near Dupont Circle in Washington DC. Friendly staff and tasty dishes! The dishes and stews were flavorful and fresh. They also offer American style breakfast, but I encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and try a new dish here. Vegetarian friendly. If it’s your first time trying Eritrean cuisine, don’t hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations. Plenty of options for meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans alike.

Melissa Unzueta: This is my second time eating Ethiopian food and it was a true delight. I was feeling under the weather and needed a wholesome nutritious meal and decided to get their Special Shiro. It was creamy, flavorful, scrumptious. I was also pleasantly surprised when I found out my order came with an extra of Enjera bread filled with their lentil sauce and spinach. Thank you for a wonderful culinary experience!

alex clark: After hearing raving reviews from our friends, we finally tried this place…..which quickly became our favorite Ethiopian place in the city. Get the Ethiopian beer, it’s tasty and cheap!! The meal was fabulous and Uber filling. We got there right at the right time because it became packed on a Friday evening!

Fiona Alison Kibblewhite: We had a fantastic experience here! Amazing food and such good prices. We ordered the Keren special (#4) with chicken and thought it was delicious! It was also big enough for two of us to share (granted we don’t have huge appetites). I cannot recall having such good food for dinner in a sit down restaurant for less then $10 each. The wait staff were super kind and helpful, especially helping us decide what to order. I would highly recommend!

Sam OB: I would say Keren is the best breakfast spot in DMV. I would always go there anytime any day. Very cozy and reasonable price. Check them out you won’t be embarrassed.

Ray Moreno: Keren is a Washington DC jewel! It isn’t glamorous, but it’s authentic, down to earth culinary delight. An Eritrean guy told me about it years ago and I’m a repeat customer. The Ful is a great way to start your day with some yogurt, diced tomatoes, jalapeños & an egg or two. The two French rolls help wipe away the last few bites. The pasta nicely combines Italian & East African flavors. The tibs are over the top tasty and plenty juicy. I often enjoy the vegetarian combo that includes cabbage, spinach, potatoes & carrots, fresh green salad, spinach, spicy lentils and yellow split peas. Two pieces of Enjera is a perfect proportion to enjoy your communal eating experience. They’ll offer more if you ask. I love to end my meal with an individually brewed coffee or even a spiced tea. You can also make it a latte or cappuccino. Let me add, it’s extremely inexpensive! $10-$15 for one which is difficult to find in DC.

Nils Hünerfürst: Keren is a really good place for a devent veggie platter. Not so pricey but super tasty. Super nice team.

James Wang: Amazing restaurant for Ethiopian/Eritrean cuisine with large portions and some of the best food in D.C.! Very friendly staff who came to check on us up all the time. The restaurant is a little small, so make sure to get there early, but the atmosphere is very cozy and I truly appreciated the experience.

Anna Sun: So, SO good!! I just wish my friend and I ordered one dish to share instead of struggling to finish two. Food came out quickly, and the service was friendly.

Josh Axelrod: Great prices for an authentic meal. For newbies to the wonders of Ethiopian cuisine, go for a veggie combo or the Keren special to sample as many things as possible on a heaping platter of Injera, spongy Ethiopian flatbread. A perfect place to grab beers with friends while you share a plate of Tibsi and other treats.

DC Harvest: what do users think?

John Scheub: Fantastic dining experience. We Arrived in the rain during vegan week and had a little trepidation. But we were immediately seated in a beautiful window seat and had the best locally sourced food you can imagine. I had the asparagus Po boy and my wife had the mushroom bucatini. They were truly delightful and the service was wonderful. Even the wine was locally sourced from Maryland and it was very nice. Overall a thoughtful presentation with fabulously fresh food.

Bobbi DeAnda: Food was pretty good but definitely not worth the price. The only thing I didn’t like was the weird waffle appetizer - warm waffle with cold mushrooms and cheese??? Very strange choice. Vibe of restaurant in general was super pretentious - but lacking the quality to even be so pretentious - for those prices I’d expect a much fancier inside and amenities. You have to put down a deposit to make a reservation - even when there’s no one there, lol. We had to book so far in advanced but it was empty!!! Also, they make you wear a mask at the table when you’re not actively eating, unlike most restaurants that let you take it off at the table. Not an enjoyable dining experience overall - although the service was good. Won’t go back.

Shankar Kulumani: Great location for a meal. Staff is high quality and very friendly and responsible. Food is amazing and the care taken is obvious. Will visit again. The cheese fritters are great. Vast majority of menu of gluten free which is great.

Laly Franka: I wish they were more restaurants in the city that encourages locally grown ingredients. Every ingredients in highly noticeable, the menu is often change to ensure freshness and only best quality ingredients are served.

LaTasha Young: I’ve been here twice and the food is great. They are a little aggressive with the vaccine cards though. The guy at the door asked for ours and as I was showing him my card he got an attitude while I was getting out my ID to do the match. It seems he was being preemptively rude for no reason when were already complying. Just because one person gives you an attitude doesn’t give you the right to be rude to other patrons right off the bat. Our waitress was really nice and helpful.

Lillian Oates: Made a reservation an hour in advance and had to pay $15. Realized how expensive the food was and immediately called to try to cancel. It’s one thing to say it’s against the policy, despite how silly that seems when I had just booked it within minutes ago, but it’s another to be extremely rude about it. They very clearly are not happy and were getting their frustrations out at me and I’m sure they do that to others. I was not being argumentative or even saying much but the way they talked to me made me very uncomfortable and I’d rather pay $15 to never go there despite how upsetting that is on principle. I understand times are tough especially for the service industry, but it doesn’t excuse being so over-the-top rude for no reason.

Chris Brundrett: Wow this place was killer! We even snagged a glass of Texas wine! They were so accommodating for our family. Many thanks and we will be back. Food was incredible.

Thomas Stack: Excellent locally sourced ingredients skillfully prepared, friendly and attentive service. Good selection of local craft beers and wine as well. Great place for a meal and/ or a drink!
