Carpenters of Georgetown: what do users think?
Jennifer Terry
Jennifer Terry: Nash and his team did a fantastic job! They took an old dingy bathroom and made it into a showpiece! They even managed to build me a much needed linen closet in the process! They were professional came every single day on time. I have never had anyone perform such amazing work and deliver exactly what I imagined the space could be. I undoubtedly recommend them for any home project, big or small. Services: Painting , Tile work installation , Home renovations , Plumbing fixture installation , Electrical outlet & switch installation , Remodeling , Shower installation , Electrical outlet & switch relocation , Drywall installation , Remodeling , Paint indoors , Faucet installation , Bathroom remodeling
John Morris
John Morris: We hired Nash and his crew to renovate our Glover Park townhouse in DC. Specifically to open up the first floor, renovate the kitchen and an upstairs bathroom. We subsequently re-hired him to add a deck, and additional basement storage room and do some hardscaping in the back of our house. Nash is a great communicator and always keeps you in the loop with decisions which need to be made without overwhelming you. He is very responsive and has a great eye for aesthetics and how to make challenging situations work in old houses! The members of his crew are very polite, skilled and professional as well. I would highly recommend him for any home project, he is great to work with. Services: Home renovations , Patio construction , Remodeling , Roof repair , Kitchen remodeling , Exterior finishing , Bathroom remodeling
Linda Spencer
Linda Spencer: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ResponsivenessGreat company to work with. Extensive knowledge and helped us navigate the plans/permit process. All of the trade workers were on staff so we felt comfortable with them in the house. :-)Services: General construction, Home addition construction, Remodeling
Sherry Wilkins
Sherry Wilkins: Carpenters of Georgetown was the “Go To” for my renovation & home improvements projects. With that said, you will definitely experience the best from this company … Excellence in customer service, quality in service and most of all great pricing. I was pleased with the completion of my home improvement projects … As they were all completed with professionalism, care, as well as being on time and right at budget. I highly recommend them for the best and quality services in the DMV (Washington, DC) area. Services: Flooring , Electrical outlet & switch installation , Home construction , Drywall repair , General repairs & maintenance , Fan repair , Outdoor lighting installation
Jim Helmink
Jim Helmink: An absolutely fabulous experience for a total Georgetown townhouse renovation. The work his team does is top notch, the work was completed on time, his pricing was accurate, and communication was excellent. I was able to track the project from several states away, get my questions answered promptly, and always felt like he was being fair. What I really appreciate is his knowledge of Georgetown homes in particular. It takes a special talent to refresh a historical property in Georgetown and he was able to completely update our home while maintaining its historical exterior. I would highly recommend working with Carpenters of Georgetown on any renovation project that you have.
Benjamin Blue
Benjamin Blue: A referral from our realtor. And what a blessing. These guys are on point and amazing. From design, to permitting and having our house professionally cleaned. We are through happy with Nash and his crew. The thing we loved the most about this company is that they take pride in their work and have incredible following through. They came back 6 months later to address minor issues and didn’t blink and eye doing it. #service #quality Services: Tile work installation , Remodeling , Waterproofing , General construction , Drywall installation , Install flooring
Rafael Peinado
Rafael Peinado: We bought a house that Carpenters of Georgetown flipped. Just a week after we moved in, the basement was flooded (pictures attached). We contacted Nash on the phone and email many times, and he finally replied with a short: ¨I will be in touch shortly.¨ That gave us hope that he would actually do something to help us repair their terrible job. He never got in touch again, I guess we have called him more than 50 times and at least the same amount of emails, you can imagine the frustration generated by this person and his company after making the biggest investment of our life. For what I see, I not only think he is not a great developer, but he is also a coward that runs away from problems. In fact, we talked to him before buying the house and he said things like: ¨I wouldn´t sell a house that is not safe¨ or ¨It´s not necessary to get a home warranty¨. We trusted him and that was our big mistake. Obviously, I don´t recommend them at all, but if you are going to do anything with him, make him provide you a warranty so you won´t have to be chasing him (and losing time and patience) the week after he leaves. We have already spent a good amount of money fixing the basement (and many more things) and we just have the option of suing him, something that we didn´t want. I guess by doing this we will finally get a response from him...
Justin Gill
Justin Gill: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueWe wanted to use a local company who specialized in older homes. We nailed it with these guys. Showed up every day at 7:00 and knocked our project out a couple days faster than originally projected. Staff was efficient and kind. They cleaned up very well. They completed 2 bathrooms and painted our main level.Services: Tile work installation, Remodeling, General construction, Drywall installation, Paint indoors
Jennifer Jamison
Jennifer Jamison: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ResponsivenessWe just had our kitchen done, and wow!! We wanted a lower budget project and was surprised that they would take on our project. Quick and easy and we are so happy. We usually don’t leave reviews but wanted to share our happiness.Services: Remodeling, General construction

Janet MacLaughlin
Janet MacLaughlin: BTC Did an outstanding job on our bathroom remodeling project in December. Chris was very dependable and easy to work with, very skilled at tiling and carpentry, and extremely knowledgeable about construction and remodeling. He delivered high quality work at a reasonable price. We plan to use BTC for another project this Spring. I highly recommend BTC for remodeling projects. Services: Drywall repair , Tile work installation , Paint indoors , Install flooring , Repair flooring , Remodeling
Dean Guo
Dean Guo: We have a challenging project that requires both carpentry and leveling flagstones at our green house. Chris makes a perfect plan and does superb, beautiful job. Chris has excellent attention to detail and always kept the space clean and tidy. He is meticulous, honest, very dependable, and easy to work with. He is responsive, accurate, punctual, and finished everything as predicted. Chris Baker is the best! He has great craftmanship. We highly recommend Chris and Baker Tile & Carpentry LLC.
Joe Soler
Joe Soler: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueChris did a superb job for us on a challenging project to repoint the damaged ceilings and skylight enclosure of our home addition and to resurface a stairwell and closet. His workmanship and attention to detail are second to none. We were extremely pleased with the result and I highly recommend Chris and Baker Tile.Services: Drywall repair, Drywall installation
Lindsey Stone
Lindsey Stone: Chris exceeded our expectations. He replaced our kitchen and bathroom flooring, and added a kitchen backsplash. He has a true attention to detail, which is sort of required in my eyes as an art teacher and artist!… We were so pleased with the precision of the work, how quickly he worked, and how he left the site. When there were unforeseen issues, like Durock that fell between floorboards into an unfinished part of the basement, I didn’t even get a chance to ask about it because it was cleaned up perfectly in two seconds. I hope we get a chance to work with him again! So pleased. Services: Tile work installation , Tile work replacement
Meghan Flores (Rec AGC)
Meghan Flores (Rec AGC): We hired Chris to replace the tile flooring in one of our bathrooms, and cannot recommend him enough for his professionalism, extreme attention to detail, and overall value. The process from demolition through installation and completion was quick and non-intrusive into the rest of our home. Chris kept the work area very neat and clean in tight quarters, which we greatly appreciated. We are already considering future projects to have the opportunity to work with him again, and only wish he did more than just tile work to help with other projects around our home! Services: Tile work installation , Tile work replacement
C. Gartner
C. Gartner: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueWonderful top notch carpenter! Chris is the real deal - he is meticulous, honest and his pricing is fair. He restored our porch beautifully, has done numerous repairs and painting for us and is amazing with tile work. He is our go-to guy for everything!Services: Exterior painting, Tile work installation, Remodeling
Nancy Brown
Nancy Brown: We highly recommend Chris for carpentry, tiling, or anything else you need. We hired him in spring 2021 to add molding in several rooms of our house. He was delightful to work with, giving us great advice that turned our crazy ideas into reality. It is obvious that he puts a high value on quality. Our project turned out beautifully and we are eagerly looking for other opportunities to work with Chris on future projects!

Frager's Hardware: what do users think?
Audrey Lester
Audrey Lester: Blind Customer: I increased shopping here during pandemic, as it’s in my community. On nearly all visits, I’m greeted at front door by a very knowledgeable staff member. I love how they know where every item is specifically located - like really! Upon entry, you’re on main isle. To your left are short isles leading to registers. Staff always escort me through store or to elevator where I’m met by another team member on lower level. Ayesha, General Manager, allows items to be opened for me when possible so I can feel item. I especially love their text message lime where consumers can ask questions before visiting store. Great Team!
Response: It's so great to hear from you Audrey, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're so glad our staff provide exceptional customer service that makes shopping a pleasure. Thank you for being a customer- we look forward to your next visit!
Michael uthe
Michael uthe: The store with more. Walked in and thought was small. But as I got farther in it opened up to huge room with a downstairs and outdoor garden section. Truly awesome and amazing staff.
Response: Hi Michael! Thanks so much for the kind words and for shopping local! We love that you had such a great experience! Our team looks forward to seeing you again in the near future.
Hope Greenleaf
Hope Greenleaf: Great shop with a large selection of plants, gifts, household items, and hardware. Friendly helpful staff!
Response: Thanks for choosing Frager's Ace Hardware and for leaving such a great review, Hope! It's good to know that we were able to provide you with a great selection and the highest level of service. We look forward to your next visit!
Stephanie Sneary
Stephanie Sneary: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The store often carries products you can’t find at larger stores— for instance I recently had need for a shorter length of 14/2 electrical wire that I found here.
Response: We love to hear that we can outsource our competition! Thanks for shopping and supporting Frager's.
koura Gibson
koura Gibson: Disappointed to be rudely treated for “walking into store” before opening. The door was wide opened and I entered only to be charged aggressively by the 3 attending employees, shouting for me to exit. I had to calm them down of their excitement to reprimand me for entering the store. There was no indication that the store was not opened. No hours were posted ether. Then the older guy rudely and aggressively closed the door as I exited. He then snarkly stated “I guess!” When informing him that 8:00 was in 14 minutes. It was really disappointing to have to endure such rudeness in the morning.
Kristin Roesch
Kristin Roesch: William was so helpful in matching a specific furniture screw I needed for a Murphy bed. He answered all of my novice questions and was so funny and kind. He also helped with copying a house key.
Response: Thank you Kristin! William has been with us a long time, we're glad to have him on our team! We appreciate your business, hope you'll shop with us again soon.

Lowe's Home Improvement: what do users think?
Sassy Sauce
Sassy Sauce: Great discounts on Christmas items as part of the holiday sale. I picked up Christmas stockings for under $5.00. There were fire pits on clearance as well. I like this location and they generally have the items I’m in need of for repairs or decorations, etc. The staff is very helpful as well.
Kev- keepingitreal
Kev- keepingitreal: This location offers a variety of affordable items for your home improvement needs. I really appreciate the staff in the aisle for assisting me with finding items on my check list. At check out the cashier was welcoming and friendly. This store was very clean and offers plenty of parking.
Jessica Fullington
Jessica Fullington: Today I went to the garden center for some outside plants. Yolanda was so very helpful! She was able to answer my questions, she even went and got me a cart so that it was easier for me to get the items I purchased to my car. It is so refreshing to have people who are pleasant and helpful at their jobs I will definitely come back to this location to get all the plants I need this spring! Marla was very helpful as well along with the young man who answered some of my questions about my plans. All around a wonderful experience!
goklt
goklt: Lots of materials here. Check out was fast. However good luck asking for assistance. Lots of associates are walking around but not helping customers. I tracked an employee down for assistance in moving materials from a high shelf to store level in the door section. He called two times for assistance to my aisle but no one came and he advised going to customer service. They called and still no help. Had to track somone down in a different department altogether. Crazy.
Chase Johnson
Chase Johnson: The employees here are courteous. But the wood cutting service they claim to offer is not available when needed. The store should just be candid that wood cutting won’t be available (or at the very least won’t be available at any specific time). I am a local DIYer (not a contractor). Before I bought wood I asked about cutting and was told it was no problem—buy it and then request a cut. I did. I was then told the lumber associate wasn’t available for an hour. I couldn’t get the wood (a single sheet of plywood I needed to cut in half) into my car, so I waited. After an hour, there was still no lumber associate, so the wood was never cut.
Annie Signorelli
Annie Signorelli: I ordered a dishwasher with professional installation and the process from start to finish was completely nontransparent and unprofessional. The installation had to be rescheduled because the dishwasher wasn’t pulled down for pick up in time, and then when it was installed it was the incorrect dishwasher — not even the right brand. After several hours on the phone with the Lowes installation line, including being told multiple times that they couldn’t advance the process because they couldn’t get in touch with anyone at their own Lowes store, I called the store directly and was able to sort it out and get the installation rescheduled. A Lowes associate later told me that they don’t have the “luxury” of waiting on hold with the store which is what I had to do in order to ensure my order was completed. Finally the correct dishwasher was installed on the third attempt and I was told I could contact the installation line again to discuss compensation for the inconvenience. Again it took multiple attempts to even get an update on where my case stood, despite being told every time that I should expect a call back “by end of business” every day I called. When I finally got offered compensation it was for less than half of the amount I requested (I requested the installation service be refunded seeing as it took 3 attempts and I was the one having to set everything up because Lowes did not follow through). While I am satisfied with the product I am in disbelief at how difficult and unprofessional the process was with Lowes. I do not recommend purchasing appliances from installation from this store or using the Lowes installation services.

Mr. Handyman of Ft. Washington and Clinton: what do users think?
Michael Elmore
Michael Elmore: Positive: ResponsivenessThe stairs to my front porch were in bad shape and needed to be replaced. Mr. Handyman sent Jefferson out for our repair and he did an excellent job and the amount charged was very reasonable. I will not hesitate to use Mr. Handyman again for any needed work around the house.Service: General repairs & maintenance
Response: Thank you so much for the great review! We're very happy that you liked the work done on your porch stairs.
Kim Cooper
Kim Cooper: Our technician from Mr. Handyman was professional, prompt, and did a fantastic job on our tile backsplash. We were very pleased with the work ethic, responsiveness, and overall service provided by the technician and company. We will definitely be reaching out again for other projects, and we have already recommended Mr. Handyman to relatives in other states. Service: Tile work installation
Response: Thank you very much for such a glowing review! So glad you liked our technician. It is the values and training provided throughout the system, so hopefully your relatives will receive the same level of service. Please remember that besides tiling, we provide light plumbing & electrical, besides exterior home repair and improvement services.
Yessiell Perez
Yessiell Perez: Brian was very professional and courteous. Joey our technician did an amazing job restoring/restaining our deck. Speaks volumes of a company when you are bodies of water separated from your property and they still deliver on their workmanship and professionalism. I never leave reviews but I believe Mr Handyman, Brian, and Joey were amazing and deserve high praise.
Response: Thank you so much for the great review! Customer service is very important to us. Please remember that we do lighting, siding, other types of carpentry, and many indoor projects.

Response: Thank you so much for the great review and 5-star rating!
Stacey Onayiga
Stacey Onayiga: My experience with Mr. Handyman services was pretty underwhelming. I am new to the southern Maryland area and recently purchased a home. We were seeking services to help with installation of a new outlet behind where we wanted our tv mounted as well as securing some loose brick in the entryway of our home. Our repair “handyman” showed up 45 minutes outside of the 2hr window time provided and mounted our tv poorly. When he got there he started the mount and said that he would not be able to create an outlet- that we would need an electrician for that. I was confused since my whole reason for contacting this company was so that they could help with the need for a new outlet above our fireplace. When I scheduled the appointment and express our needs to the dispatcher, he led me to believe this is something that they could help us with. Only for the handyman to get to my home and say they do not handle such things. He proceeded with the wall mount. In the end, it was mounted awkwardly and way too high above our fireplace- maybe 3 inches from the ceiling! 🤯 (who does that)! Meanwhile the handyman assured me prior to mounting that he had measured the space so the tv would sit exactly in the center of the wall. Seeing that it was awkwardly too high, I asked him to adjust the tv. Instead of taking the time to measure, he eyeballed the placement and not only mounted the tv crooked, but it was STILL considerably high and not in the center of the wall. I grew very frustrated and asked him to just leave the tv where it was and move on to the next job. The handyman services I received was a rush job and poor quality of work. Not only do I have to find a way to redo the work that I had hired someone to do, but I was also left with a considerable amount of holes in my wall that I now need to spend time patching up and painting over. Mind you, the total bill after everything was said and done was $406. This is laughable considering what I was left with. BEWARE of this companies services. If I would have known this is the quality I was going to be left with, my husband and I would have DIY’ed this and saved hundreds of dollars...What we were paying for was convenience and expertise. What it turned out to be was a huge inconvenience and a sloppy job. I Will not be utilizing them again. Waste of money! Service: TV mounting
Response: I'm sorry you had that experience. We do try to provide good customer service. We explained on the phone and through email about our time and materials policy and how our fees work. We estimated the time over the phone to take more than it did. We suggested to wait on the drywall as the electrician will just make more holes. We were not aware you needed an outlet as TV's usually require wiring that we usually can do. We did give you a refund of some of ~1/3 of your expenditures in good will. The tv is hung as you requested and a leveler was used to show you that it is indeed level.
Karen Braxton
Karen Braxton: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueChris did a wonderful job cleaning gutters, power washing front and back of townhome and driveway, as well as replacing light bulbs throughout. His team was on time and very professional. I recommend the company and will be requesting their services in the future.Services: Gutter cleaning, Cleaning
Response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review and 5-star rating! Please remember Mr. Handyman if you have any indoor work as well, such as drywall, floors, bathrooms, etc.
Jennifer German
Jennifer German: Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueHandyman surpassed my expectations. The installers arrived on time and efficiently removed and mounted a 60” television. The installers were friendly, respectful and worked hard to respond to my requests. I would definitely consider hiring Mr. Handyman again.Service: TV mounting
Response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are working hard to get it right so that you can trust Mr. Handyman with all your home repair and improvement needs. We look forward to serving you again.

Library of Congress: what do users think?
Mireille G
Mireille G: Favorite place I visited in D.C.. Words cannot begin to describe how gorgeous this building is inside and out. Every single detail so carefully thought out from the architecture to the art. Definitely go visit if you can, there’s so much to see. Also try and get a library card if you can it’s totally free and a fun souvenir to keep. It’s a legit library card and you can use it to enter the main reading room but you usually need to make an appointment weeks in advance to get in room but the card is a nice memory to keep.
Nicole Pascotescu
Nicole Pascotescu: Beautiful. Photos will never do it justice, you need to see it in person! It’s literally breathtaking. It’s amazing to just stand in the middle of it and look up in awe. I went on a school trip from DC and it was a great learning experience. But really I’ve never seen such beautiful architecture and design.
Sonya Williams (Wildflowers and Hooyahs)
Sonya Williams (Wildflowers and Hooyahs): What an incredible experience! It took us about twenty mins to get library cards but it was worth it! We also felt the amount of people there on a Tuesday was weird but it’s popular for a reason. Will def return. The staff were so nice and knowledgeable.
VikinGA
VikinGA: Gorgeous! The national library of the United States and the largest library in the world! Its collections include more than 30 million catalogued books and other print materials in 470 languages. It holds the largest rare book collection in North America, including the rough draft of the Declaration of Independence and one of the Gutenberg Bibles!!!
Ashok Patel
Ashok Patel: Library of Congress, a national symbol of knowledge is the largest and oldest library of United States established in 1800. This is the research library for Congress and open for public for research only and the books or materials can not be checked out. The library is housed in three buildings on Capitol Hill. The research material is from all over the world in more than 450 languages. The library has more than 160 million items and everyday 10,000 new items are being added. We booked the timed tickets online to visit the library. I couldn’t get the timed tickets 5 days before but some limited tickets are released everyday morning at 9.00 am. Exactly at 9.00 AM I tried and I got the desired time slot. There is no entry fee. As a book lover, it was my dream to visit this unbelievable and incredible heritage library. Anyone can have access to the library if you have Reader Identification Card. The building architecture and the sculptures inside and outside are absolutely stunning. It is very theatrical, heavily ornamented and the decorative paintings and beautiful sculptures place this building among greatest art and architecture in America. The exhibition of photography and about Rosa Parks was very impressive. The mosaics, the frescos and the stained glass work is amazing. Thomas Jefferson’s personal library and the main reading room is great attraction. Unfortunately, we could see the main reading room from high above with limited sight through the thick glass. I wanted to see those millions of books on the shelves as I dreamed off, but what I saw was mostly exhibitions in a museum kind of setting. However, this is a must see attraction.
Richa Rashmi
Richa Rashmi: What an amazing Greek architecture! This place is a jungle of Corinthian columns, a sea of books and a sky of murals. It’s absolutely stunning. Be sure to checkout Jefferson’s own donation of myriad books along with an exhibition of Rosa Park’s works. Also, entry is by appointment only. There’s a book shop that hosts souvenirs ranging from books to crockeries.
Juhi Pac
Juhi Pac: Beautiful historic building with gorgeous architecture. There are two and a half floors of museum-exhibits of some of the maps and records that the library keeps. Absolutely worth it for the free price and close proximity to South Capitol metro station
Rany SADER
Rany SADER: By far, one of the best experiences ever if you are into culture. A fan of books, I loved the place, the heritage, the building and the whole experience. Don’t think twice if you like a Library. One of the best I ever visited.
Jon Scott
Jon Scott: This is a must visit while in DC. The architecture and history was worth every minute. Take time to ask a Docent about specifics of the area you are in. Jim (docent) was so knowledgeable and spent ten minutes explaining the sculpture and paintings. The photographic exhibit was a bonus and Tomas Jefferson’s library exhibit was as well.
Alexandra B
Alexandra B: A library dedicated to knowledge and education in every way possible. One of my favorite places in DC. Every inch of this building is a tribute to history, the pursuit of knowledge, and the contributions of those who came before us. Note you have to reserve a timed entry pass online in order to visit the library.
