Precious Memories Funeral Home,LLC: what do users think?

Lency Garcia: My father passed away and I honestly had no idea on where to start or even how things work when someone passes away. Precious memories are super patient. They are very kind. Dealing with funeral homes is not an easy thing to deal with especially when you are hurting very bad due to someone’s death. But they do make the process easier for you, they are definitely very patient. You can not go wrong with them. Huge shout out to Mr. Payne and his team. You guys are all great! Wonderful job! And thank you for being so patient and kind. They will honestly do anything you ask them to do. Honestly they are great!

Ingrid Wilkerson: We used Precious Memories Funeral Home for my dad's service on 2/5/22. We were so pleased by their attention to detail, availability throughout the process, and caring attitude and guidance. They have a wonderful team and do great work! We highly recommend their services.

Joannia Zackery: I want to send a sincere thanks to Precious Memories Funeral Home for their excellent service and work that they did on father. They were professionals and they made sure that our family needs were met and we didn't have to stress ourselves out. They just step in, took the wheel and did what was needed to be done. Thank you again for making this hard time a little less stressful, my family and I truly appreciate you.

Greg L: On behalf of the Lewis family, we want to express our overwhelming gratitude to “Precious Memories Funeral Home” for doing an outstanding job this past week for my dad’s funeral. Mr. & Mrs. Payne, along with the rest of the staff were very professional, comforting, courteous, and helped guide us with all the necessary requirements for both the funeral and burial. We truly appreciate their magnificent service, a job well done! Thank you both!
Response: Thank you Mr. Lewis for entrusting your father into the care of Precious Memories Funeral Home. Our entire staff sends our continued prayers and comfort during this healing process for you and your family.

L H: Let me start by saying Thank You to Precious Memories Funeral Home ☺️. We used Precious Memories a few weeks ago for my brother. A sudden death of a loved one is never easy to process or deal with. From the start of planning Mr.Payne, Tamika and Ginger were very sympathetic while being very professional. The virtual steps and mtgs were extremely easy to navigate. We had every question that one could even imagine and each one was answered. I know I called all day but was greeted with heart felt voices. I was very worried about the appearnace of my brother . Mrs.Payne ensured me that the team would provide the best services and they did just that. My brother looked like he was very much alive . The entire team deserves a standing ovation. Funeral day , the team handled everything in a professional manner. Let's not forget about Jason who picked up clothing with a smile and empathy. From the family of Michael Nicholas, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will definitely recommend to others Lanita and Rebecca

Belinda Cadette: Firstly, I am currently getting paperwork in order for my family and goggled funeral homes in this area. I want this process to be as painless as possible for my family. After reading the reviews I am truly impressed. Each speak of your professionalism, Patience, and taking those extra steps to ensure all is pleasing to the family. Therefore, I have written your information on my burial documentations (which will be notarized). I pray it will be many years before my family & I will need your service but reality is we will one-day & I feel my family will be in excellent hands with Precious Memories Funeral Home. Thank you all for your review it was very helpful with me making a selection. Sincerely, Belinda Young-Cadette aka; Yapah Kalaya

Shamai Carter: With having to cope with the lost of a loved one is enough of a burden, but Precious Memories Funeral Home takes away the other burdens that you have to encounter. They are very professional and dedicated to making sure your loved one is honored properly, while making sure you are stress free. They are great, very detailed and attentive to your needs. They assist you with every step of the process along the way. Mr. Payne is very close to my family and has provided his professional services over the years to many of my family members. I have worked with him directly to handle my grandfather and most recently my mother's arrangements, which I must say he and his team continues to provide excellent service. Precious Memories Funeral Home comes highly recommended from me and my family.
Response: Shamai, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve you and your family. Your mom was a jewel, special to so many that she touched along life’s journey. We pray God’s strength be with you in the days and years to come.

Kandis Henderson: Outstanding, from start to finish. The care that I received was over the top. I will definitely recommend Precious Memories Funeral Home.

Nirva V: I want to thank Mr. Payne and his staff at Precious Memories Funeral Home, for making an exceedingly difficult time for myself and my family, a little bit easier. You both were so kind and attentive to our needs. The services you planned were executed perfectly and so comforting to us. Thank you for all the great care you took for our beloved uncle and the support you showed us after the funeral. We will be forever grateful. Family and friends were impressed at the way you handled the funeral too. You both are a true gift to this community.
Response: Thank you for your review it really means a lot to us as we grow and build long lasting relationships with the families we serve.

Johnson & Jenkins: what do users think?

Annette Ivey: Thank you Johnson and Jenkins. Ms. Jenkins is a blessing and wonderful. We were treated with dignity and respect. The Johnson and Jenkins team did an absolute great job ensuring that all our needs were taken of. I appreciate you all. At a time when families are already dealing with the pain and sorrow of a love one passing. Johnson and Jenkins makes that time a lot easier to deal with. God Bless Ms. Jenkins and her team. The Spells, Woodland-Ivey family Amen.

Tyshea Burrows: I want to say thanks so much Lavonna and the entire Johnson and Jenkins staff. Throughout the entire process from the first day we spoke was very comforting. Everything was professional, resourceful, flexible and understanding. I’m so happy and proud to rate my experience with Lavonna Jenkins especially. An amazing amazing person and truly a blessing.
Response: We are honored you choose us to help you and your family during this time. Our continue prayers are with you and please let us know if we can do anything else.

Alice Fields: I want to thank The Johnson & Jenkins Staff for a job well done! You did an excellent job with our loved one and we cannot express enough thanks to you. This one really hit home for us and we didn't know where to begin. I want to personally thank Ms. Jenkins for her kind words and guidance, as well as Mr. Murray and Mr. Boone for their support during our time of bereavement. I also was amazed at how we were able to get through Downtown D.C. with ease with a professional funeral traffic safety patrol.

Francine Smith: Words cannot express how grateful my family and I are to Miss Belva Jenkins and the Johnson and Jenkins Funeral Home! Our beloved family matriarch went home to be with the Lord and we did not know how to start, or plan anything. She took out her own time to guide us through the process. On the day of services, everything was just so beautiful: from our beloved grandmother, the great loving caring compassionate staff, to the memorial blanket, custom programs, the flowers, and she even provided professional funeral escorts to get us safely and efficiently to the cemetery! All I can say is thank you! I am so grateful to the Johnson and Jenkins Funeral Home and Miss Belva Jenkins.

Thia Davis: The entire staff were so kind and helpful. You can tell that unfortunately, they have a lot of business. They always apologized if they couldn't return calls immediately. Super supportive and attentive.

Dresia Vaughn: Recently, my life time good loyal faithful protective super hero friend from teenage years passed away Oct 5th. Johnson & Jenkins did an excellent job preparing him for viewing. He looked so much younger and peaceful. Thx you for a wonderful job done Jenkins.

PRINCESS JADA: This is a HORRIBLE Funeral Home. My son funeral was held at this dump, one of the Employees was very unprofessional, they did not allow the Pallbearers to walk my son out and place him into the hearse. I do not recommend this place to anyone. The Guy didn’t take his time for the family to have a final glance at my son before he quickly wrapped him up and closed the casket. And even at the end of the service, all of the Pallbearers walked up to help assist and the Guy responded, “no, we’ll take care of the body, y’all can just go to your vehicles.” What a nice way to make a family feel somewhat at ease during a loss, Please avoid this place, they don’t deserve not 1 star.
Response: I do apologize for your experience. As there is no excuse for this, our company is no longer allowed to process your loved one through the front of our building because of DOT. It has been communicated that where we have practiced the ceremonial processing to the hearse, we are no longer allowed to conveniently park in front of our building. We try our best to make sure that everyone's experience is as smooth as it can possibly be during this difficult time. So, I personally apologize that the rule was not communicated to you. We are trying to come up with a better solutions to honor this tradition. If you are the next of kin of the deceased, and are willing to contact me directly @ (202) 882-8800, I will be more than willing to discuss this further with you. Sincerely, Ms. Belva J. Jenkins Owner/Operator of Johnson & Jenkins Funeral Home

Brad Bailey: Doesn't pay her vendors. We got the run around on three sizable invoices for memorial keepsakes that we sent within 24 hours but Belva chose to not pay. New Memorials Direct is owed a sizable amount from Johnson & Jenkins Funeral Home, Inc.
Response: Please return the $ you stole and take this off here. Please & thank you!

Donovan Turner: I went to a funeral in 2016 the mortician asked me to take my loved one out of the hearse and he took them into the sanctuary and had the paper towels and cottons balls on their face still! The funeral procession was terrible and everything
Response: Mr. Turner, we apologize for your experience. We generally ask immediate families for pallbearers for assistance into the church, if there are steps. We often are told that other members of the family appointed by the next of kin arranging the services will help. On location, when we are preparing for the public service, we generally ask the family or those who helped us in, to step out as we make final touches to the deceased. However, some families insist on staying in the chapel as we prepare. We do assure our families the utmost professionalism by putting protective cloths in place to ensure your loved one and the casket look as pristine as possible for the service. This includes protecting the makeup applied. This is standard practice for all quality funeral homes. However, because we are not aware specifically of the name of your loved one, we can’t fully comment on your experience. However you can reach out to us directly if there is any further concern.

Ophelia Crawford: My family and I would like to thank you for your professionalism and compassion! You have truly become a part of our family. God bless you, The Crawford Family

Bianchi Funeral Service: what do users think?

TANYA RHAMES: I have been using Bianchi Funeral Services 1998.Lynn Armstrong Patterson and her team do such amazing work.I recently worked with her she prepared my husband. She has so much compassionunderstanding and patience when she’s working with you. Awesome work!!!!

Kim: I have to say that Bianchi Funeral Service is the best Ms Lynn Patterson is so very attentive. She handled my Ma Pat like a queen that she was. I called around to different Funeral Services and Bianchi was reasonably priced. I would like to say the details and all the extras that they provided was excellent. Her assistant Ms Octavia was also a great. They went above and beyond if I could give more stars I would. Have A Blessed Day Highly recommended

John Sowell: I would like to thank Bianchi Funeral Service for the professional they showed my family during service's for my wife. They did a great job and made sure that everything was done with dignity. I cannot express the joy in me that I chose you all to properly put my wife to rest. Thank you so much!!!

Dee Dee: Excellent job on my Grandma. Thank you Tyra and Octavia for all you have done to make this easy . Tyra you went above and beyond and thank your son aswell. I saw a picture of the blanket with my grandma on it and that is different and special.

Rosalyn Irving: I would like to thank Octavia Waugh and Tatum Jamison for the exemplary job they did with assisting me and my brother Sterling Metz with the memorial service for his deceased wife Ulrike Metz on September 9, 2017. Our needs and questions were met beyond our expectations. Every detail was handled professionally with style, class, compassion and understanding. We will definitely give our support and recommendations to friends and family for years to come. Sincerely, Rosalyn Irving and Sterling B. Metz

Lori Fowler: This Funeral home is the worse ever, especially the Funeral Director Ms. Octavia Waugh. I buried my dad this year and I was hung up on, lied to and disrespected by Ms Waugh. It all started, when I told Mr. Ronald Owens-part owner, that I did not think my dad was legally married to the lady and what does the funeral home do in situations like this? Now, this is were it goes down hill and people start to take things personal. Mr. Owens said, “why do you think that” and I said, “why do you believe that”. Then he said, we would check the marriage certificate in situations like that. I told him did you see a marriage certificate? He said no but they been together for so long. Wow, so no legal documentation. Well, I need to see a marriage certificate. So of course Mr. Owens passed it along to Ms Waugh. Then, I called Ms Waugh and she told me that it was public record and they were married in DC, yelling and then hung up. Come to find out it is public record but they were never married in DC. So, Ms Waugh lied and then tried to cover it up when she actually received the marriage certificate from Virginia. Ms Waugh called me back to act like, she done her job but what she fail to realize the marriage certificate was null and void, due to my Dad was still legally married to my mom. So, now the Funeral home was aware and had legal documentation that I was next of kin in one day and they still put the lady, who was not legally married to my dad on the Death Certificate. This Funeral home is very unprofessional and they go by word of mouth and if your a friend of theirs. They need to run a professional business.

Camia Roberson (MeeMee): Very professional! Took very good care of my mother's body. Very we'll done pre and post services and amenities provided by the company. Will not take advantage of grieving and vulnerable customers.

Patricia Akinyombo: Vera poor service on my cousin. Run far from this place. They subcontract out their work and bear no responsibility for the poor service done by their contractors. Do not use this place

Cory B. Flowers: Love the blanket and customer service

Ernest DC: This should be your last choice in funeral home selectionCompletely unprofessional

Stewart Funeral Home, Inc.: what do users think?

Saundra Nelson: They went out of their way to honor every request that I made. A special Thank You to the Owner, Ms. Stewart, Mr. Brian Harris, Mr. Borden, and LaTonya Sims. Everything was A-1. The Lord truly used this Funeral Home to bring some peace to a horrific situation. I HIGHLY recommend this Business to handle the final arrangements of your loved one. God's best to them all! The Nelson/Thomas Families 4.23.22

Joanne Tillery: I had the pleasure of speaking with Mrs. Helen Jackson this morning, i called to get assistance with connecting to streaming my coworkers fathers service. Mrs. Helen was patient with me because I was frazzled because I was late getting connected. I just wanted to let her know how much I appreciate her because if it wasn't for her i would have missed out on a wonderful service. i wasn't able to attend but i was able to stream and that really made me feel better under the circumstances. THANKS MRS. HELEN YOU ARE THE BOMB.COM and Stewart Funeral Home needs to know they have a diamond in the ruff. Have an awesome day on purpose !!
Response: Thank you for acknowledging Ms. Helen. We think she is pretty special too! I shared your post and you really made her day.

Brooke Day: Mr. Stewart’s legacy lives on. His staff handled my family and I with tact and care! They exceeded all my expectations. They actually showed me that they cared. I am so pleased. The only reason they didn’t get 5 stars is because their projector system is completely outdated and in desperate need of an upgrade. Outside of that, everything else was perfect. Thank you for making this trying time a little easier with your warmth and care!

Arlena Ferrandiz-Myers: To Staff and Director, It is with deep gratitude that I write this thank you review to Steward Funeral Home. My family lost beloved stepfather family patriarch on September 8, 2019. We have never experienced a family death and funeral before in the United States. We are originally from Cuba where funeral customs are different. Steward Funeral Home is in my father and mother’s neighborhood, and I decided to use its services mostly for the geographic convenience. Little did I know that this place would be such a boon in a time of great sorrow. My stepfather was always fortunate in finding good places and good people. So, it was quite fitting and as though he had chosen this place himself for his viewing and funeral. The initial interview with the funeral director was scheduled expeditiously. It was candid and straightforward, but at the same time courteous and caring. Interestingly enough, we found out that the Director had been in Cuba recently and had loved the experience. We made a quick, informed decision based on the information provided. We decided to do embalming and services with cremation. We chose flowers and rented a casket for the event. The staff was very attentive to our needs through every step of the process. My family is blended and multigenerational. The interview to sign the contract was done by my mother and me. However, my 18-year-old niece had come to see her grandfather’s body. She was on her way to see him before his condition changed and never made it. Therefore, she felt she needed to see him for her own peace of mind. The funeral director was contacted immediately and ask if she could see the body that day. It was a busy time for the funeral home, but the Director made sure to schedule an appointment later the same day to satisfy the request. We also had made an appointment to view the body before everyone else arrived. My stepfather was prepared superbly in his cowboy hat, his long sleeve shirt, black jacket, leather belt and Western Bolo tie. The embalming was done so well that it appeared almost as if he was still alive. His skin looked great and he was carefully positioned in the casket with a spectacular flower arrangement. I do not even recall selecting such a beautiful floral arrangement. On the day of the funeral we received a very courteous call from Mr. Bowman to give us the parking details. Mr. Bowman and the staff assisted us in any possible way they could. I really want to thank him for his respect to our culture, for the attentiveness to our needs, and his caring and professional demeanor. He was absolutely a great host and a God-send on this day that provided succor to our anguish and anxiety. Thanks to him we had a beautiful bilingual service in English and Spanish for the ceremony. It was just how my stepfather would have wanted. We read his bio, had a ceremonial biblical speech, and closed the program with his family and friends saying their last goodbyes. My family and myself really want to thank Steward Funeral Home for being patient, professional and caring; and for providing excellent services in their facilitation of the funeral process. Gracias!
Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and heartfelt review. We appreciate your family giving us the opportunity to serve you. If there is anything we can do to assist you further, please don't hesitate to let us know. Again....Thank you so much!!

Malkia Ra: I assisted a family member with the final arrangements of a loved one, Stewart was the funeral home of choice based on cost and location. Initial meeting and point of contact was with Ms. Washington, she was a pleasure to work with. Our dissatisfaction with the arrangements came later, on the day of the service. (1.) The family car pickup was late; pickup location was within a 5-minute drive from the funeral home, yet when the arrival time came and went, we had to call to inquire about the status. (2.) We noticed multiple flaws on top of the $3k+ casket we purchased; one of the flaws in particular was a significantly-deep scribble/scrape on top. (3.) The floral spray we purchased to cover the casket wasn't what we received, it was significantly smaller. (4.) Lastly, the minister we hired through Stewart spoke for 3 minutes; she didn't bother to read the obituary/memorial that she asked for prior to the service. Needless to say this experience was very disappointing. These concerns were brought up to SFH, and it was at this time we realized how unorganized and disjointed the business is run. Our initial point of contact, Ms. Washington, was no-longer in the fold. We now had to address our concerns with others within the business. There's no cohesiveness; once the contract is signed, multiple people are involved in different areas of the services, and no one is aware of what the other is doing. For example, when picking up the death certificates, we were one-short. The person who handed-off the certificates to us could not explain. After multiple questions asked to multiple people, we learned one of the employees thought she remembered sending one of the certificates in the mail... she THOUGHT she did, she wasn't sure. It would've made sense to put the certificate back with the others. There is no cross-checking or quality-control within this business. (Luckily it did arrive in the mail later). I also want to mention the person who's contracted with Stewart to prepare the memorial booklets, Ms. Wellington, was less than a pleasure to work with. This was a good learning experience for me and a reminder that you certainly get what you pay for.
Response: First, I would like to extend our apologies that you feel our service didn't meet your expectations. The entire staff works diligently to give every family we serve exemplary service so it is disheartening to hear when a family feels we did not. In our operation, different individuals handle different aspects of the business and yes there are many different departments that work together for the outcome of a beautiful service. There are many aspects of conducting a funeral service, and it can't be handled by one person, so yes we do have different departments who handle different things. If a family pays for funeral expenses with insurance, most insurance companies require a death certificate to process a claim. If we find out later it was not needed, we will return the certificate to the family. We always give families the options of using there own vendors for example flowers, programs and clergy but our suggestions are available if you choose. You are always able to use a preferred company of your choice. A clergy always wants to see a program to know the outline of a service also if we need to get to the cemetery or stay on schedule they will make adjustments. Last, Mrs. Wellington didn't just leave the fold but passed unexpectedly. Her passing shocked us and left us devastated while we also tried to fill in the gap with families she was serving. I do hope that I addressed all of your concerns.

Seth Feenstra: If I could I would give this Funeral home no stars at all! Horrible and unprofessional customer service from Ms. Ford. Her rude tone on the phone and the way she represented herself for the Funeral Home is wrong. Her sympathy and empathy for family members looking for information on their loved ones doesn't show. If she was my employee her behind would of been fired long long ago. She told me "don't go dictating how I am going to do my job and when I am talking don't interrupt me" when in fact I WAS NOT DOING that in any way, shape, or form. I was simply asking her "where is your sympathy and understanding. I am trying to understand why it is going to take you 2 weeks to help answer a simple question on my loved one. Yes it was from 2012, 9 years ago, and you have to go back into your "old system" and dig his records up" but to shout at me and tell me "Look lady you'll get answers when we are ready" is uncalled for. I HIGHLY and I can't stress how HIGHLY I recommend taking a look at another funeral home that will give you the kindness and respect we all need. KINDNESS GOES A LONG WAY, CHOOSE ANOTHER FUNERAL HOME WHOM OFFERS KINDNESS AND RESPECT OF YOUR LOVED ONES.
Response: It is most disturbing that you took the time to write such a disparaging review, while conveniently leaving out the facts. Your loved one passed almost 15 years ago, you were not the person who made the arrangements but we still wanted to help you and help give you closure. We first had to confirm who you were and obtain permission to assist you and we did. You also failed to mention how unkind you were to different members of the staff and how they still remained professional with you. You were not patient to wait while we obtained what you requested that was close to 15 years old and even when we explained how detailed and in depth the process was. We have reached out to inform you that we filled your request, you have not reached back out to us. It has also been a month and you still have not retrieved your request. We will just patiently wait on you to get back with us. It was always our desire and intention to give you the closure you requested.

Timothy Wilson: Stewart Funeral handled the arrangements for my cousin on December 3, 2021. The service was beautiful. Stewart's staff serviced my family well.

Sherice Bryant: My Mother's service was today and I was greeted and then told... The person in charge of your service is at lunch at the exact time the service was about to start. Then their projector service wasn't compatible with the flash drive I provided so my photos had to be restarted through out the entire service. It seemed as if the employees were just there and not really providing their undivided attention to our needs!!

Slim DC4LIFE: Stewart funeral home really cares and that’s what matters when you grieving. I can’t thank the entire staff enough for all the love and support starting with the first phone call to the first appointment even the drivers was super patient and supportive. Special Thanks to our funeral home angel 👼 Ms.Washington her love and expertise kept us worried free it made all the difference in the world. Thank you so much Stewart for being a 5 star establishment God Bless🙏🏽

eveunice johnson: Exceptional! Exemplary! These are only a few words I use to describe the abundance of compassion and empathy received from the Stewart Funeral Home staff, of Washington D.C. during this unimaginable and painstaking loss of my granddaughter. From inception to interment, our family, full of grief and sorrow, were treated with none other than the upmost respect. Honorable mentions are as follows: Mr. Bowman, Funeral Director, who's mannerism, demeanor and respect for his craft in customer satisfaction, reigns Supreme! If an award could be handed to him, for his outstanding professionalism and commitment to help others, it would be Emmy award worthy, and I'd be honored to present it to him. This must be a God fearing man because he clearly works for the Lord. Mrs. Rush-Ahmad, compassionate, caring and at the top of her game in organizing and managing affairs of such sensitive nature, never missed a beat. She deserves to be recognized not just from my family, but to the community as a whole because in times like these, people with traits like hers are both needed and necessary. Her assistant, Ms. D. Washington was of great assistance and reassurance, acting in Mrs. Rush Ahmad's absence as well. Mrs. Jackson, believed to have been the elder woman, who went above and beyond, granting my grieving daughter the simple request, of talking to my departed granddaughter while she sleeps peacefully, acting as a surrogate on my daughter's behalf. In 2 words, "Simply Amazing". Finally, the nice elder gentleman (no name given) who delivered, without hesitation, to get a lock of hair and footprints from our beloved angel, so we could have these tangible momentums eternally. I would be remissed, not recognizing and honoring these true service oriented individuals, as they stand in their purpose as servants. My hopes and prayers is that they are appreciated and valued as great people who deserve greatness in return. Sincerely, Mbu, Contee, and Cobbs family
Response: Thank you for taking the time to write such kind words. We work really hard to serve all of our families, please know your acknowledgements have been shared with everyone mentioned.

Robert A Pumphrey Funeral Homes: what do users think?

Jon Ehrens: I would give them 0 stars if I could. At best k would describe them as Incompetent and callus. They gave us confusing and often conflicting information and truly made the worst week of my family’s life even worse. My late father’s doctor described their treatment of him as harassment as they were pressuring him to put a cause of death on death certificate before a cause of death was known. No one involved in the process had any idea what was going on. They never reached out about anything. Finally, the lady we were dealing with yelled at my bereaved mother. Stay the hell away.
Response: Mr. Ehrens, I am sorry that this is how you have interpreted our assisting your family. You are welcome to call and speak to me or my assistant manager directly. William A. Pumphrey

Howard Steinberg: My family and I had a calming and positive experience with Pumphrey Funeral Homes. During an obviously overwhelmingly difficult time, we felt that the team - specifically John - treated us with compassion, dignity and respect. They were communicative throughout our initial interaction and have remained so thereafter. They'd coordinated closely with an out-of-state funeral home to make very timely arrangements for the burial within 36 hours of their receiving the body. Wouldn't wish the pain of losing a loved one on anyone, but realize that this is part of life and wanted to share the positive experience that we had with Pumphrey.
Response: Thank you for your kind words. I am glad we were able to assist you at your time of need. Please call us if there is anything else we can do for you. William A. Pumphrey Vice President/General Manager

Sarah Morales: The employees were kind and helpful. The place was nice. My only suggestion would be improving visibility of parking. My husband and I had to circle the place to find the parking lot.

martha pelivanis: Buyer beware. These guys are upsellers and will squeeze your grief for every last penny. They push embalming before cremation. It's part of the standard cremation package. A) unnecessary B) expensive C) environmentally destructive. Not to mention the crazy non-negotioable "service" charges. Find better
Response: Ms. Pelivanis, I am very sorry to see the experience you've had. Embalming is suggested when it may be beneficial for the family, so I am sorry that you felt we were "pushing" it. I personally strive very hard to keep our costs as low as possible. You may reach me at our Bethesda location if there's anything I can do for you. Very truly yours, William A. Pumphrey, Vice President/General Manager

Andrea Simhony: Not very compassionate over here. Didn’t have a good experience
Response: Ms. Simhony, I am so sorry to see of your negative experience with us. Please contact me at our Bethesda location so that I may understand what you experienced so that I may correct it. Very truly yours, William A. Pumphrey, Vice President/General Manager

Ed Angelo: Have an employee who cleans cars and cares parking who is very rude and obscene, with people who are just looking for parking, it is a very unpleasant situation in a moment of sadness.

Julien Ghanadan: Elaine Murpy Barkley

University of the District of Columbia Community College (UDC-CC): what do users think?

Henok D: The most terrible school I have ever been to. Both the main campus and the Community college are the same. A lot of slow, unprofessional, and rude staff who keep yelling at students when they are not even doing their jobs properly. I submitted a certain paper to the Financial Aid office and they told me they lost the paper after weeks that I had to pay about $1700 out of pocket. During the 2020 Pandemic, I tried to contact them as I was having difficulty to waive the Student Insurance that is provided through the school because I already had an insurance coverage; no one answered my call until it was due. And now Miss Gaskon told me that I have to pay about $1300 for the coverage I never needed. Mis Gascon was there in 2018/19 when I had the same issue; she helped me waive it then. I could not go to her office in 2020 be a of Covid restrictions. I tried to solve the issue communicating with them but nothing got better yet. I would not recommend anyone to go the UDC unless one needs a headache. I cannot deny that there are some great Professors such as Prof. Sonnie Abebaku. However, individuals are very helpful to us, it’s overall experience at the university that makes a difference in our academic lives. So far, my overall experience is just TERRIBLE!

Danielle Carroll: I went to school here for my AA and it was a breeze. Yes the admissions needs some work (never fixed it) but the education, the teachers and the school itself is fine. It's so affordable and you can always learn something new. I got a paid internship through UDC and even though with it's slight hiccups, this school is still great. I'm at the main campus now working on my Bachelors and I'm 16 classes shy of finishing. Don't pay the haters any mind.

Edgar E: Worst administration I have ever had to deal with. Not only do they never respond to email or phone calls, they can't even keep track of ELECTRONIC applications, that required my daughter to submit 3 times and be forced enrolled late into classes due to their incompetence. But they also can't even have the literacy to read the applications correctly to charge the correct rate to students. They went ahead to charge not only my daughter but several other students out-of-state resident rates when all their applications illustrated DC residents. Like how can you not even read what's on the applications! How many other students were charged nearly 3 times when they should have been charged as a DC residents scares me on the level of corruption and neglect this body demonstrates to it's it's attendees.0 Then to not even have the decency and competence to even respond to emails and calls to try to correct this is just completely absurd, no wonder UDC is a laughing stock of a school to attend they can't even serve as a place to get extra credits for actual schools. How neglectful can you be to students and applicants, like seriously!

Lucien Graves: I was interested in nursing but the department leads never answer even with me contacting them daily for the last 3 months. Not to mention the admissions department takes 2 weeks to email back and never answers a single call. Just go in person, it's faster but still highly unprofessional since they eat and have conversations with others in front of you. You can see why they never answer.

Yesly Turcios: GLEN DOMINA rudest person ever if you are working under a facility and a Student is inquiring on information/assistance you should be able to provide that at your upmost ability but unfortunately that was not the case here..

Danny Hirschfield: I graduated UDC-CC with an AA degree in Liberal Studies Fall Class of 2015 Alumnus. This college really helped me develop my learning skills as I am an older non-traditional student that started as a freshman with very little prior knowledge and discipline in academia. I have transitioned to the UDC flagship campus pursuing my BA degree in Political Science as a pre-law student. This university is the most affordable place to get a good quality education being the only public higher learning institution in Washington, D.C.

Jamilya Allen: Okay So I applied about 3weeks to a month ago and I’ve yet to receive any papers informing me if I was missing any documents or etc. I’ve called at least 5 times a day for about two weeks straight leaving voicemail after voicemail and no one has yet to return my call not only did I call multiple times I have also emailed them multiple and no response. It’s ridiculous what’s the point of having an admissions office if they not even going to pick up the phone, guide you in the process of being admitted or anything else like you guys get paid to do nothing it’s sad.

h T: This University has only good professors! But getting a Bachelor from the UDC will not get you a job!! Their jobs faire is just to get a website from the companies and brochures lol!

Jordan Stewart: The financial aid lady with gray hair and dreads is disrespectful af. Most of the staff here are disorganized and rude. I disenrolled 2 months ago. When I went to disenroll the lady was eating crab legs in front of me. Come to find out she never really disenrolled me, and I had to go back up there today. Smh. I really wanted this to work bc I’m a Dc Resident but I’m enrolling at PGCC.

University of the District of Columbia: what do users think?

Carolyn Taylor: This was a enjoyable experience, the seating was great for Covid safety . I would definitely attend an event here again

nina: The worst university ever, my experience at this university has been draining and miserable. Some off the professor are rude and highly unprofessional. I had one professor a couple off years ago name Samuel Walters tell me that he doesn't have to respond to my emails, and if I reported him they wouldn't even listen to me. I will never forget that, it was odd to me as well because, other professors' I had encouraged students to email, and come in during office hours for assistance. I reported this to the dean, and she told me that professors' are not obligated to respond to students' emails. I couldn't believe it, in addition I wrote the president off the school who is a joke in my opinion, and he never responded. Anything, goes at this University. I blame myself, for returning to this school I was told things have changed, and it has not. Different departments loose papers, I had turn in my vaccine exemption forms August 02, 2021 and was told it was never received. When, I inquired about the documents again, the representative had told me they forgot to submit the documents to another department. But, by then I was already dropped from my courses. At this point, I said forget it, I am glad I transferred to another University that's extremely professional, the transition was great. The staff are rude as well, I remember almost getting cursed out by a lady in the student health department, because I simply asked if my health waiver was received, she was so rude. I honestly, despise this University. Returning, to this University as a readmit student was not worth it, it's beyond me because, UDC reached out to me to come back this past summer and it's still a joke. The women bathrooms, are a joke it's been like that since I started a couple off years ago. Some, off the doors don't lock, the library needs to be remodeled. I remember part off the ceilings in one bathroom was completely missing. Elevators were not working, and some parts off the building were not cleaned, the math tutoring lab couple off years ago was, leaking and ceiling was completely gone. I believe, some individuals work at this University because they can display their dispicable disposition. It really, amazes that the student center is appealing. But, if you go to other departments off the campus the conditions, are horrible or layout is outdated. I blame myself for being at this University for so long, never again.

Mohamed Moustaghfir: I wish I finished my nursing degree. So many UDC graduates 🎓 get successful professional life. A friend of a friend back in the end of the last century, moved back to Ethiopia and started his own company. I also learned a girl moved to Dubai and became the youngest successful millionaire at her twenties. Success is you, but the school and faculties help also mold you a pathway. Look at me now doing pizza delivery. Making people days when I'm sadly sad.

angel almonte: One of the best experiences I have had as a student. The professors were extremely helpful in guiding me to obtain an education . The facility is improving and they have an excellent student center. The student body is very a diverse population. The administration staff are as friendly. as you are to them. In other words if you act a fool than expect to be treated as one. 😊
Response: We’re happy to hear about your experience. Thanks for leaving a great review!

C. M.: Took Spanish classes here for one year. I regret slacking on my Spanish.

Danielle Carroll: Yes the admissions needs some work (never fixed it) but the education, the teachers and the school itself is fine. It's so affordable and you can always learn something new. I got a paid internship through UDC and even though with it's slight hiccups, this school is still great. I'm at the main campus now working on my Bachelors and I'm 16 classes shy of finishing. Don't pay the haters any mind.

Mani Shehni Karam Zadeh: I agree that administrative work is little slow but when it comes to education and professors, I would say they are really great, knowledgeable, kind and caring. They always try to help you to learn and never let you down. They always support brilliant students in the class and on the other hand they never abandon weak students too. Some people complain that school building architecture is ugly but just keep in mind the UDC construction completion dated back to 1851. So, I don't let this to impair my judgement about very good professors and education in here.

Scott Minter: As a graduate student that completed a Master's in Education recently at UDC, I can speak for how the last 3 years or so have been. UDC is extremely unprofessional and unorganized. The customer service is appalling and it is very difficult to do simple tasks such as pay bills, register for classes, or track down employees. The staff is difficult to reach and rarely call you back or email after a request. I advise finding a different university if you are looking to continue in higher education. Granted, there are some very excellent professors, but it might not be worth your trouble to attend here.

NIKKI HARRIS: It is a shame that after paying the application fee and being sent an acceptance letter I find out there is a hold on my account. After looking into that, I was told I have an unpaid balance from 2005. I was also informed I had made payments which total about 75% of what was owed initially. I was told to see if I qualify for amnesty to cover what's stilled owed. I did and was told no. The reason being is I don't have a GPA of 2.0 at the time of owing. I don't have a GPA because I had withdrew from classes before I had received any credits for the classes I took back in 2004. I am very disappointed and feel let down. After all, I thought I would be starting classes this summer. UDC does not care about DC citizens trying to get an education. My situation is very unfair!
