Lauren Xu: My electricity was knocked out by accident and I turned to Harris Electric. Mike Harris was responsive. It was a Friday afternoon and I was worried if he could be on time as I needed the front desk lady to help with the information of the building and it was almost the time she would leave. Mike came in a professional look with the headlight on. He quickly inspected the problem and solved it like a piece of cake. He was easy going and easy to have a conversation with. He gave me a discount even if it was an emergency call. I really appreciated he saved my weekend, or we might be in dark until Monday when the front desk is back to work. NatFan: I will not be going with this business again. Pretty much they left holes in my ceiling for weeks after I had recessed lights installed. I was informed by Michael that he would refer to me to a contractor to patch my holes. That never happened. I guess he forgot :-l. I decided to go with another business for installation of two additional lights and patching of my holes. FYI, I had 9 holes in my ceiling for 3 lights because according to Michael, my beams are perpendicular to the direction of my floor. 9 holes. At least I would have preferred if they had some follow through. Also, I have tenants. I do not want to leave my tenants complaining about holes in their ceiling. Oh, and I had them install a light fixture that was supposed to go in the main bathroom but they installed it in my powder room instead. When asked to correct it, they told me they might have to charge. How are you looking to charge ME for your screw up? So, now I have to pay you twice? I'm all for small business, and was pleased up until the point that my calls/requests were not acknowledged or returned.

Freda Perry: Had a great experience with This company. Mike Harris was very professional and attentive to our needs. Our family had some electrical problems that caused our AC to not work properly. Benjamin Williams: We had a power issue that I thought might be a circuitry issue at 9PM. I called Harris and spoke to Max. 10 minutes before he arrived Pepco showed up on our street and confirmed it was an issue on their end. I ended up cancelling with Max despite him being about 10 minutes away. He was very understanding and incredibly responsive. If/when I do need an electrician I will be sure to call him again.

Zane Ramadan: We had a number of outlets that were not working in our home, so I called Harris Electric around 8am, and they sent someone to come by 1pm that same day and fixed all of the issues. They also charged a lower price than other companies I had contacted for a quote. I will definitely use this company for future electrical needs. Great customer service, prompt, and skilled technicians.

Xian Randall: I was referred to Harris Electric through my home warranty after multiple outlets in my home blew out and I could not fix them by simply resetting the circuit. I was contacted by Mike Harris within hours of my service request and he came out on a Sunday to service my home. He arrived within my appointment window and quickly diagnosed my issue. He did have to cut into the drywall of my home, but ensured that he would cause as minimal damage as necessary. And as promised, he repaired all my outlets with a minimal amount of damage to my wall, and all for even less than he quoted. He even followed up with a referral for someone to repair the drywall. I would definitely use them in the future and would refer their service to anyone who asked.

Jack Lamberton: I would not go with this Electrician firm (Harris Electric Company) again. On 1/4/17, they sent someone over to check out why there was a dead circuit in the kitchen but they couldn't figure it out... so they said they would run a new line from a working power outlet and we agreed that they would come back on 1/6/17 at 11 am and finish their work. Guess what? They never showed up. I made several calls to the firm but they kept saying their younger brother was the one who came to the house on 1/4/17. (Finger pointing here). Then I called the younger brother but he never returned my calls. Finally I got fed up with this run around and I called the firm earlier this week (on 2/6/17) and asked for a full refund on the $125.00 I paid the firm on 1/4/17 but they said they reserved the right to keep the $125 because it was for their diagnostic work and they also said that they reserved the right to refuse to do what they recommended (to run a new line). And then they hang up on me! Be very careful when you do business with Harris Electric Company.
Response: Yes we do have a minimum of $125. And that covers one hour of service/repair/diagnosis. And you received that. My brother diagnosed and temporarily repaired your circuit for our minimum charge.That is all you were charged for. However sir, it was not my company to come out to your house. It was my identical twin brother. But I support my brothers decision 100%. The main reason why my brother didn't come back to your house is because the house is severely unsanitary. The stench of cat urine is overwhelming and unbearable. That is why he refused to go back. I don't send my guys to work under those conditions. So I understand why he didn't go back. We have been in the business for generations, and we try our best to satisfy the needs of all our customers. We keep prices low and do high quality work. We have reviews all over multiple platforms. We don't have a lot of bad reviews for a reason. I wish you the best with your electrical issues.

Nazgul Shabdan: These guys do really good work, and unlike many other contractors in our area, they are responsive. Our lead electrician was fantastic, and explained the process clearly. His assistants, were also competent, polite, diligent, and efficient. I would use these guys again.

123 Joliet: Read before proceeding: I worked with Nick and Lauren Kolb at Kolb Electric for a property I was listing for sale in DC. My partner and I brought two projects forward to Kolb. We did our due diligence and quoted some other companies to understand what our cost for the projects would be. Be AWare!! Do not go with the hourly model! Nick from Kolb heard our quoted prices out and informed us the hourly rate would be better. He said they would come In under that price. I should have known better to negotiate a fixed rate, but Nick was very convincing. Nonetheless, we are currently in a legal back and forward. Left with a fat bill and the project wasn’t completed. I ended up paying someone else to actually perform the work and get us passed inspection.

Jason BROSCH: Brandon Kolb came to provide an estimate for a EV charger install and panel upgrade. He was here 5mins maybe and then I never heard another word. I even emailed Brandon directly and called the office. Zero reply. Guess they didn’t want my money for a new electrical panel install. Do yourself a favor, try Autumn Electric instead. They were professional and responsive, the install and upgrade went flawlessly! I assume Brandon is one of the children based on last name, it’s a shame this electrical company has lost their reputation over the many years they’ve been in business. They used to be my go to.

Max Hung: I had my interview and first job site view with a manager named Nic Zanchelli. Mr Nic advised me to not go the flat rate price way bc it could be over 10k in fees, instead to do hourly with 1 crew members. I listened to Nic and went with his recommendation. Mind you this would be the worst decision of my life. Big mistake. After rough in was complete. At this point I paid 4800$ in payments. We go to inspection and they fail, miserably at that. Inspector was shocked to see so many mistakes. I told them it was kolb electric and he believed it. I then call Nic to inform him, at this point he says no problem we will adjust and re inspect. Well for their own mistakes, they do purposely. They come back and charge you again when their wrong. What business practice succeeds with this mentality? Nic came back to me and said ok we can’t come again, bc Gabriella Lobo is saying that we have a bill for over 6k at the store. Now we would be at 10k if I were to pay. I told nic why did we exceed the 10k were at rough in? He was very confident it would be way less. He comes in to say this word for word from my text message. ( How would I know what the real cost Was? If I knew I would give u a flat price. I have a perfect rep. Fro. Here to up north. I'm good. I tried helping u guys out. I dont have anything to do with billing. I'm done). So now I had to hire another company. Paid them 9k flat and did the rough in and final with passing in one time. Not multiple times due to the lack of knowledge their employees have. Now the good stuff. So that was around September 2020. We’ll come May 1, 2022 and their attorney that they have on retainer bc they do this to a lot of people. Just by reading the reviews here. Their attorney is now suing me for 13k additional to the 4800. 17800$ there trying to get from me for 8 working days of work from 2 employees. This is pathetic and seriously the lowest of low. Services: Ground wire installation , Electrical wiring installation , Electrical panel replacement or upgrading , Electrical outlet & switch repair

Patricia Legler: They damaged my 1 yo kitchen cabinets. I had under cabinet lighting installed and I stated that I did not want any visible holes in my cabinet boxes, I showed him where he could make holes on the interior of the cabinet boxes where the wires wouldn't show. After I asked them not to drill holes into the boxes, they did and they were crooked. And, one of the guys peed in my basement in a box of stuff that I had. I don't even know what to say. They even had the gull to charge me $500 after all of this. DON"T CALL KOLB ELECTRIC !!!!!!

Gary Birtch: We need to have a Tesla charger installed in our house. They were listed by Tesla as one of the companies that has done charger installations in the Maryland DC area. While they would be coming to the house we wanted to have them do a few other things such as appropriately wire the deck on our house, wire the generator hook up, and if needed replace the current transfer switch. So we’re talking a fair amount of money here... The project manager flat out just didn’t want to get back to us after the initial site survey. We indicated that we had a timeline and that we only had a month or so to do it... and flat out the guy was rude when it came to getting back to us and I didn’t bother him or hound him! Eventually, I get a quote from another electrician, also on Tesla’s website. (FWIW: I’ve been very honest with both electricians that doing the best job is more important than than the cheapest job.) I eventually get the PM from Kolbe on the phone and ask him if he’s gonna get a quote to me? Then he says he’s “to busy” and then implies our job (which is probably a $10,000 job) is not big enough. I then ask the guy if I should go with someone else... AND HE SAYS YES. If the project manager can’t bother to get his stuff together and treat people with the appropriate attitude, not to mention get back to them in a timely manner, there is no reason to do business with Kolb. I would NEVER recommend Kolb Electric based on this experience.

Tom O'Neil: We were in a bind because we just lost power on a circuit but the breaker was not tripped. I called several random places and nobody could come out for several days. I called Kolb and they told me about the emergency pricing but they would TRY and get someone out before 4PM. Sure enough, a guy showed up at 2PM the same day. He was very knowledgeable and careful. He actually saved us time and money by listening to us as the owners. (I knew what I had done recently and other problems we noticed). We would call them again. From the dispatcher to the electrician... the experience was good.

Ernest Chan: We were referred by our Compass real estate agent to use Kolb Electric for repairs. In hindsight, it was a mistake to contact Kolb... On 11/20, I called Kolb Electric and scheduled an appointment for 11/30 for a walkthrough on relocating the power outlet onto a different drywall for my sump pump. On 11/30, the guy arrived at my house to evaluate the work needed and suggested a dedicated circuit for the sump pump. I was told I would get a write-up of a quote within 48 to 72 business hours. I subsequently called 3 more times until the end of week on 11/30. The receptionist kept telling me to check my email spambox, which I found no quote from Kolb. I even texted the quote person on 12/4 and got a response saying he would send it on 12/7. The quote person never sent anything! If the job in my house is too small for your company, just say so. Ultimately, I found a different company to do the work for me in 2 hours. The time for my hired electrican to look at the job and provide me with a quote was just 4 hours. Now, I have 2 other electric companies that are responsive and honest. There is no reason to choose Kolb for any electrical work, regardless of the size of the job.

Kjetil Hansen-Shino: We hired Kolb to install deck lights around our pool. It was a relatively large job and cost was high. Immediately after installation, the lights started acting strange, blinking irregularly after being on for about 15-20 minutes. It took almost 2 years and countless visits to figure out the problem and fix it. To their credit they were relatively nice about coming to our house every month or so. During that time the lights they installed were discontinued and when we had to replace two lights we had to use other slightly different ones. During the whole process our other outside lights stopped working, I suspect due to the work carried out by kolb. Last visit they managed to charge us a couple hundred dollars to look at the problem they had caused. It was an exhausting process and not worth the time and effort. I would have expected them to know their craft well enough to get it right at least after a couple visits. Would NOT recommend using them.

Frances D. Cook: We had an electrician from Kolb Electric make a service call at the house on April 25. The gentleman arrived on time, but that was about all he got right. We had four issues, two outside, two inside. He not only was not able to fix any of them during his extended stay, but the counsel he provided was wrong in two out of the four cases. (We have subsequently had all corrected by an excellent electrician from Hawkins Electric). Moreover, he was messy. We had to clean up debris from the ceiling on our furniture after he departed. He failed to use drop clothes, and did not wear any shoe covers). The bill was $224. No one from Kolb ever called to ask if we were ‘happy’ with this service, so I assume he also did not report back that he accomplished zero of our task list. Further, this company will not touch any electrical issues on appliances or machines. On the other hand, Hawkins does. They are clearly a far superior company, from services provided to customer interaction. Don’t waste your time with Kolb for your electrical project, especially small home repairs. Get your money’s worth with a company, like Hawkins Electric, that can tackle the problem effectively, no matter how small.

Marylou Bergeron: At 5:45 pm, there was a loud pop and we smelled smoke in the basement coming from the panel box. We turned it off and called Kolb. Gerber came out about two hours later and told us we would need to replace the panel. He gave us the name and number of his manager and told us if we hadn't heard back by 9am, to call to ensure we were on the schedule as we didn't have electricity at all. The following day Gerber and Izzy arrived at my home and did a spectacular job replacing the panel, vacuuming up the mess AND FILLING IN THE DRYWALL. I have NEVER had an electrician who did that for us. Will be using Kolb for all our electric from now on. Thank you Gerber, Izzy and Kolb for getting us power back. Camille L: Really strange billing practices. This is the first time I have worked with a contractor who can’t provide any bill or breakdown of the charges when asking for payment. The technician was very nice and capable, but throughout his time working at my home, he could not quantify how much the charges were going to be for me, and the charges were about double what I expected at the end. He was able to help with my electrical panel, my thermostat replacement, a bathroom exhaust fan, and was very capable. However, he told me that I would have to call the accountant to get a basic invoice. I called the office, and they said they did not have any access to that information for 24 to 48 hours. Very strange, and the woman who answered the phone for their “customer service“ was unfriendly. I will not be using them again.

Leslee Friedman: I highly recommend this company. As a single woman who owns her own home, I deal with a lot of contractors who treat me like I'm dumb or gullible. Kolb never did this, was extremely responsive, consistently on time for jobs, very reasonably priced, and when there was a problem with one of the pieces of equipment I had installed, they did their best to fix the problem quickly and did not try to charge me more even though it did take extra work on their part. I'd use them again in a hot second, and I'd suggest them to friends without hesitation.

Michael Armstrong: I requested a quote through an online form from Kolb Electric to replace an aged breaker panel for my home. A few days after the request I received a phone call to schedule the appointment for the following Friday between 10am - 2pm (a very large window). The company never showed up for the appointment and never called to reschedule or even apologize. Fortunately, I was already off of work that Friday, because if I had taken leave from work to meet someone for a quote and they didn't show and didn't follow up, it definitely would have been much worse. Kolb, this is not very professional and does not show much concern for the customer or their time.

Tehl Fuller: I do not recommend hiring or working with Kolb Electric. Approximately a year ago the property management company I work for hired Kolb Electric for a repair at a home we manage. The electrician went out, completed some unauthorized work, and then sent the invoice to the wrong address. They continued to admit having the wrong address AND wrong phone number on file, so our company never received the invoice. There was a signature on the Time Ticket they could not give a reason for (it did not belong to the resident or us), and there was a note that they had received partial payment which was a false statement (again, unable to be explained). Kolb Electric then sent the past due invoice we never received and our company to a collection agency. As soon as we were notified on November 27th 2018 that we were sent to collections, we reached out to Kolb Electric. After a month we still had not received an updated invoice or any answers to the long list of questions we had; 1. Who signed the paper stating the work was complete? 2. Where did this partial payment come from? 3. Why did you complete work that was not authorized? 4. What are you willing to do to make this right since you admitted to sending the invoice to the wrong address AND calling the wrong number? Finally, the owner of the company was notified. On December 28th, 2018 Paul Kolb agreed to call the owner of our management company on Wednesday January 2nd, 2019 to discuss the sequence of events and how we can make this right. January 2nd came and went, no phone call was received and we never heard from Paul Kolb again. In order to prevent collections from harassing our company and affecting our credit rating, we have decided to pay the bill, even though it was for unauthorized work.

Britney Edwards: The service I received was excellent! Called on a Saturday afternoon for a bad breaker in my pool control box on the hottest weekend (ugh) that was overheating and tripping causing my pool pump to shut off, and they sent someone out within the hour. The tech (Gerber) was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and fixed my problem quickly and checked the rest of the breaker panel for any further issues just to be safe. Definitely recommend this company!!!! I will be calling them in the future with any and all electrical needs we have!

He fixed every thing we needed done (kitchen, doorway, 2 outlets, and 3 way switch) in a reasonable amount of time and at a great value! No more calling our old company who ripped us off ever again...Kolb is our electrician from here on!

Debbie Dotson: While they were prompt in sending a technician out to check my problem, the tech did not do the one thing I was advised (by my electric provider) to have done -- check the breaker panel -- he never even opened the breaker panel. Instead, he told me the problem was with my AC unit so I arranged for an HVAC service, only to be told that the problem was a bad breaker in my panel. The AC unit was fine but was not getting low voltage power. I called KOLB twice, and was told both times that the "branch manager will call you." Never got a call back , so I had a different electrician come out and -- wait for it -- he told me I had a bad breaker. He replaced the breaker, and lo and behold the AC immediately kicked on. Had the KOLB tech checked the breaker as I requested, this issue would have been resolved four days ago. I would have saved unnecessary service calls and charges for an HVAC tech I didn't need, and another service call from an electrician who corrected the problem in 15 minutes -- something the KOLB technician could have/should have done the first time he came out. By my calculations, this cost me twice what it should have, and I had to take a total of 9 hours of UNPAID leave from work to get the situation corrected. My suggestion to you? DO NOT CALL KOLB for electrical service unless you just like taking time off from work and paying more than you should for a repair, because they don't do what they should do.

Jacqueline Korn: So we bought this house in Columbia, a little over a year ago. The house was a flip, so all the work was done cheaply. We didn't realize that our electrical work was also cheesy. For some reason, after a year of use, our microwave started to trip the breaker. We thought maybe it was the microwave, so we spent the $500 on a new one... Which ultimately gave us the same results. On a separate issue, the kitchen outlet to the left of the microwave, began to start sizzling when in use... But the wiring on the outlet appeared to be fine. This outlet is on a separate breaker from the microwave, by the way. We tried to replace the outlet, but again, the outlet continued to sizzle. Baffled and desperate, we called M&R Electricians to try and figure out what's going on. We got Steve, who was awesome! Him and his worker tested the microwave (which APPEARED to be on a dedicated outlet, but really wasn't -- the whole left side of the house was on the microwave breaker) and he came to the conclusion that the microwave needed to be on its own dedicated outlet. Of course this required a few holes in our dry wall, but it was needed. Then, the sizzling outlet issue: He attempted to replace the outlet. Of course, it still sizzled... So I called them the next day and Steve came out the same day to take another look. He placed his ear against the outlet and determined that the sizzling was coming from behind the stove. I thought he was losing his mind lol. But he pulled out the stove, and sure enough, there was open wire (with no cover) burnt CRISPY! These wires were right next to the malfunctioning outlet, just hidden behind the stove. The burnt wires were somehow tied into our malfunctioning outlet. He said there was copper and aluminum twisted together which is apparently really dangerous. I was mind blown that he figured out the issue, i mean it was behind the damn stove, who would've ever thought?!?! So he took care of the issue and NO MORE SIZZLING OUTLET!!! And they gave us a discount because he didn't catch it the first time, which was very sweet of them. Also, Chad offered to help us out with documentation to try and get the prior owner to pay the damages - considering her people were the ones that handled the kitchens shotty electrical work before we bought the house. So, essentially, Steve came out here non-stop within the 2 day span, until the issues were resolved. And they didn't charge us an arm and a leg. Steve is very knowledgeable and an electrical genius! JOSEPH James: I've been intending to write this review for a while but between work and other pressing issues I have been very busy. Back in December I contacted Hawkins to repair my ceiling fan in one our bedrooms (fan was working but the light was not). To make a long story short, they charged me $280.00 to tell me what I already knew which was that the light kit in the ceiling fan needed to be replaced!! Eric Hochberg: I've used Hawkins Electric for projects around my house on several occasions and have always felt their staff to be professional, knowledgeable and efficient. I currently sit on the board of my HOA and was recently tasked with finding information for a much larger, neighborhood-wide project. Over many months, I spoke to several electricians and was met with blank stares, no returned phone calls or folks just not following up. I finally called Hawkins and after a short explanation of what I needed I was quickly put in touch with Todd, one of the owners. He was FANTASTIC as a resource. He gave me the names and contact info of electrical engineers and security experts and basically gave me a play-by-play about how to go get done what I needed. We spoke several times over a few days and he would even call me back later in the day if he had other ideas or suggestions. I never had to pull teeth to get information. You can tell Todd has tons and tons of experience and enjoys solving a problem. I wish I had called sooner. 5-star experience, reliability and workmanship. I highly recommend.

Glenda Dokou: I called this morning to get a straight 3 prong dryer outlet replaced with an 'L' shaped 3 prong dryer outlet. I called and Andrea answered and was upfront about the $59 travel fee and list of pricing. She even told me that she can have a technician come same day. Most companies were unable to give me a price over the phone, so I was relieved when Sean arrived and quoted me $137 + $59 travel fee. This was cheaper then the quote received over the phone from another company. Sean and his assistant were courteous, professional, and finished the job fast. They cleaned up behind themselves, quoted us for a future job, and we received $25 off our next service. Great Job! Sasha Serpa: These guys are were awesome each and every time I’ve called on them. Best electricians, hands down. I refer them to all my clients within our industry because I know they only make me look good. I use them on my own jobs when we need an electrician and I’ve used them at my house to install some new drop lights. My wife was home for that and said their guys were the neatest contractors she’s ever seen. Minimal drywall repair after 4 living room cans were installed (2 small 3”x6” holes were all they had to cut to fish wire for 4 ceiling cans). I’d recommend Hawkins Electric to anyone that wants a fair, professional, and service oriented elwctrixal contractor!

George Grabow: Contacted Michael and Son for general plumbing and pipe repair in a location that had very difficult access. One of their highly experienced plumbers, Eric Blackmon, called and asked to see if he could come early. I was overjoyed as our water supply had to be turned off. Erick immediately assessed the situation and briefed me on some of the complexities and how he planned to proceed with the repairs. He kept me completely informed of his progress and asked me to inspect the project when completed. He was very knowledgeable and shared some of that with me. He then asked if I needed any other repairs work and then made some expert suggestions of other potential problems that I should keep my eye on. Brittany Booker: Our service person was very nice and knowledgeable and completed the work in a timely manner. However, the work (electrical panel replaced) that was done to me is "incomplete" but according to M&S it is complete and we would have to get a "handyman crew" to fix the dry wall that the Michael & Son employee cut out and drilled back in a sloppy manner. I emailed Michael and Son's customer service and was told it's an additional cost for the dry wall to be fixed..usually costing $350 extra. Also, originally we were going to use their "leasing program" in order for this unexpected job to be completed. We asked every question we could think of to our service person and the bank they use for this program. It was not explained that if we paid it off early that there would be a "buyout" to complete the 120 month contract they wanted us to sign. ($10k total) This whole process to me was not very smooth and to honest "incomplete" due to the extra dry wall that had to be cut below the paneling. UPDATE 4/7/22 We were told the job was "complete" about a month ago, however when the Dominion person came out today to inspect the final project, there was a copper wire that wasn't grounded. M&S had to come back out and complete the job a 2nd time. Service: Electrical panel replacement or upgrading

Carol Willis: It is unfortunate that this company sends standard responses to complaints and does not reach out directly to the customer. If the person responding to my posting had taken the time to review my account they would see that I called and asked to be contacted by customer relations several times. I am stuck with this heating/hot water heating system that I paid $15,000 for and only worked for 3 months. I am very disappointed. This company installed a furnace and hot water heater system in November. Three months later I discovered water leaking from the system, there was water all over the floor. A tech came out on a Wednesday but was able to make the repair. The tech shut off the valve and had me turn off the system. He returned the next day and stopped the leak. Due to warmer than normal temps I didn’t realize the heat was not working and on Saturday morning the temperature in my house was in the 40s. A tech came out for the third time on Saturday but wasn’t able to fix it. I would have to wait until Monday. The tech returned for the forth time, was here for about an hour. He left saying that he thinks he knows what the issue is but it is 1100 on Monday and I am still without heat and hot water and waiting for the tech to return. I don’t have any confidence that even if this system is fixed that it won’t break down again. I began calling customer service on Saturday when it was clear that the system couldn’t be fixed. I asked for a replacement of my system. Unfortunately the people who could help were not available on the weekend. I waited until 8 on Monday and still had not received a called. At this point I was quite angry. I finally received a call back and I vehemently expressed that I wanted a replacement system. I was told it didn’t work that way and he wasn’t in the mood to be yelled at and hung up. I have been without heat and hot water since Friday and I am unsure when my system will be repaired.

Christine: Michael & Sons has done my furnace installation and electrical panel upgrade as well as regular maintenance on my A/C and heating. They are always professional and are mostly on time. They could be a little better about cleaning up after themselves but it’s not a huge complaint since they do a good job on the actual project at hand. There are small things I wish they would be more clear about such as they won’t be patching the square they cut out of my wall to work on the electrical panel so I have to find someone to do that as I’m not handy myself. They’re not the cheapest service but they’re not the most expensive and most of their services have a pretty good warranty that’s included. I appreciated that the technician followed health protocols for wearing a face mask. The technician asked about the problem and listened to my concern (“The shower will not stop dripping”). The technician explained his assessment of the problem based on his inspection and he offered a solution. John Owen: Called, albeit on Christmas Eve, but had an emergency, and Kolb was one of the only services to actually answered the phone, took our information and said someone would call. This gives the impression that despite the day, they are available. No one calls, so we follow up a couple hours and are told that someone would contact us with an ETA. Followed up again a few hours later - same response. Called again a few hours later and are forwarded to a supervisor who has a "what did you expect?" attitude. Supervisor says they haven't had anyone working in our area all day. Couldn't make it right either - couldn't schedule an appointment until Wednesday. So much for 24/7 emergency service. Again, I understand it's Christmas Eve, but the poor communication, the promises that someone was indeed working today, and lackadaisical attitude is not a good impression. Will be going elsewhere to get this problem solved.

Karin Peabody: Easy to make an appointment with a friendly person on the phone. Loved the electrician that came to my house. He was friendly, knowledgeable and worked quickly and efficiently! I would recommend Kolb to anyone!

Kenn Reybitz: Hired them to install a pool timer, assess the low voltage transformers, adding an outlet, and cabinet lighting. After the electrician first said we had the wrong timer, I had to correct him which was my first sign of total ineptitude. Next, he inspected the low voltage transformer, assured me it was fine and the heat of the unit was acceptable. 1 week later, the transformer wiring melted causing (see photo). I still don't know how the house didn't catch fire. He had no clue about installing a new outlet in the garage, and after $480 for horrendous service I'll never use them again and caution anyone who does in the Baltimore metro area.

Starr Ridley: We had not been able to figure out why the outlet in our second bathroom would suddenly stop working! It was intermittent! For YEARS we sought to find someone who could solve this mystery. Robert Sander came out today and fixed the problem in a matter of minutes! He also solved a problem that we had with another switch that was none functional. We have gone without lights in two rooms for years, finding alternate options in order to function. Robert was professional, friendly, kind and worked quickly and efficiently. We could not have had a BETTER service experience. We would SPECIAL request this young man if we ever were in need again! D.J. Randolph: This company is shamefully dishonest. I am contacting the BBB and county clerk because they practice unfair bait and switch. I emailed them based on an ad for a FREE estimate to replace my bathroom vent fan. The gentleman showed up and gave me a $127.50 invoice. The company representative told me that they estimate could not be free since they had to troubleshoot my vent fan. I'm not sure why. I asked for a quote to replace, obviously it isn't working. It's not even about the cost but about the reality that I would NEVER had agreed to pay for the estimate. Reading some of these other reviews I take strength in knowing these shannanigans will not last much longer.

Monica Langley: Came to connect a converter, installed wrong way and blew the converter, had to get another one. On top of that, the electrician made a square larger than the access panel so had to get a handyman to fix. I asked for detail Invoice because I thought the electrician overcharged me, no luck. Complained to company but they have ghosted me. Do not recommend and will never use again.

I called Walter Electric and spoke to an exceptionally friendly woman. She scheduled me for THE SAME DAY! Within a few hours, the electrician came out. He was very friendly and professional. He explained what he was doing and just like that, my outlet was up to code and fixed! The price was wonderful. We've dealt with dishonest and awful people (plumbers, HVAC, and auto mechanics) in the past and this company is a breath of fresh air! Thank you so much. Eric Slaughter: Unfortunately, I was let down by this company from the lack of professionalism and customer service they showed me today. I had my appointment scheduled for about two weeks, if not more than. They did a job for me last week, I scheduled both jobs at the same time. The job last week went fine, however today I was suppose to have an electrician come out that never did. I called yesterday to ensure the timing, I was told they'd come out around 1030 today, I called this morning to check again to which I was told again they'd be out around 1030. 3pm comes around and I find out an electrician was never coming out. I was told that they quoted my job based on the job they did last week, which made no sense because the quote was for $100 more than what I paid for the job last week. Why would I agree to that and you haven't come to estimate the new job. But then, they told me that they wouldn't send out an electrician in the timeframe I needed, even though they scheduled for one to come out today, TWO WEEKS AGO! It made a huge inconvenience in my project. I planned ahead and they didn't deliver. I'm giving 3 stars because the job last week was done well, but I'd rather give two just based off the customer service experience. Service: Electrical outlet & switch installation

Ed Avila: WARNING! Think twice before using them! Not worth it! The price is never going to be what was quoted. The work was handled nicley, so that is something they do have going for them. Before the job was started an estimate visit was needed to see the scope of the work that was to be done. I was told that my estimate fee of $69.00 would be taken off the cost of the job when paid up front, so after the estimate was done I received a detailed quote stating a total of $469.00 (having already paid the estimate fee) I thought that my final payment would have been $400.00, becuase the estimate payment was not reflected off the detailed quote. No I was wrong according to them! I ended up paying $538.00 in total, NOT STATED ON THE QUOTE, to make sure the estimate fee was included. This is concidered a hidden fee becuase it was not reflected on the detailed quote. If I had known they operated this way I would never have used them. Not only that, but they did the first quote wrong. Not using what was detailing and recorded from the estimate visit, and they left out an additional job I needed them to quoted, aslo from that visit. All in all BE WARNED when you use them. If I could give them a half star I would. They will find someway to make sure you don't get your estimate fee taken off the bill. Service: Installation

julio alarcon: Today I called for a technician to come to fix a problem, their system to take care this is terrible. I had to call again, the new attendant did not understand the problem and then told me they do not take care this specific electrical problem I mentioned. This electric problem I have is: when the hair dryer is on the circuit braker jumps off, this electric company does not take care that!!. I will call another company.

Edwin Garcia: This is part 2 of my review posted on Dec 10th. I finally got a call from Walter Electric saying they will send a tech to take a look a what needs to be done in my garage. On Tuesday Dec 14th, an electrician (Tony) came to my house and did a quick assessment of what I wanted to do (a new breaker with a receptacle). After Tony finished his assessment, I told him that I was ready to get this work done based on the estimate he told me ($250-260 since the receptacle being installed will be on the same wall as the electrical panel), but he said "I don't do scheduling", so I asked him to request customer service to call me to schedule this work, but that didn't happen until Dec 17th. The quote it was $334, not the $260 Tony said. That didn't bother me since I assumed that the $69 already paid for Tony to stop by and do the assessment will be deducted because when I agreed to have Tony come over they said "The $69 will be discounted from your quote if you accept our proposal' so I signed the quote. Tony stopped by my house on Dec 20th and did the work. When the time come to pay the work done, I asked Tony why I was getting charged $334 instead of $265 ($334 - $69 already paid). Tony said, he was not aware of that, but kindly charged me only $265. On Thursday Dec 23rd, I got a call from Tracy or Stacey (can't recall her name) asking for the $69 Tony did not charge me. I explained to Tracy/Stacey what Tony did, but she was very determined to collect the money and didn't even listen to my explanation. I told her to go ahead and charge my credit card to avoid any collections. Bottom line here is: I gave Walter Electric a second chance to proof this is not a dishonest company, but they didn't care. Their customer service is terrible. I am not crying for $69. I am complaining about what they told me when I agreed to their terms since the beginning, but they did not honor that agreement. I will never do business with this company again. For people looking for electrical services, please look somewhere else. Service: Electrical outlet & switch installation

Jason Estes: Alan was great! He was quick to diagnose and replace our faulty breaker for a reasonable price. He was very professional and explained the issue to us thoroughly. Plus, he was COVID-conscious, wearing a mask, gloves and booties. Many electrical companies charge a fee just to come to the house, then give you a jacked-up estimate once you're already into them for money, which seems like a slimy sales technique. We chose Walter Electric because they charged us on an up-front per hour basis, plus parts. From scheduling around my work schedule to the execution of the job, the customer service was 5 stars and I highly recommend them if you're looking to diagnose and fix any residential electrical problems.
