John T: This dive bar is awesome! In the summer you can relax on the 3rd fl rooftop and laugh at everyone waiting in line for the "popular" bar across the street. In the winter they have small indi bands on the second floor. Great concert space. Staff has seen it all so be respectful!

The mixed drinks and their first-rate line of imported beers are top notch and fairly priced, considering the fact that this establishment is located in the heart of the nation’s capital. Getting a table is extremely affordable and I would recommend it if you come with a big group of friends. Security is on point inside and outside the club. It’s simply the best 18+ club in DC. Alexander Zacapa Centenario: Ultrabar happens to be among the best clubs to party in DC. The establishment has four floors with different music genres played by talented DJs, and the overall atmosphere is always entertaining. My friends and I have enjoyed table service on multiple occasions and we’ve always had a fun time. The customer service from Jimmy Mar is absolutely exceptional, I consider him a tremendous asset to Ultrabar for many reasons, as well as the entire staff who are always very welcoming, friendly, and professional. This place also has outstanding security inside and outside the club in order to ensure the safety of its patrons. It is well situated near the Verizon Center and Constitution Avenue. Check out their pictures online showing how crowded and lit this place is. It is truly amazing on so many levels. Just make sure to look your best by following their dress code. Be ready to have a good time! In conclusion, I strongly recommend Ultrabar to anyone looking to have an enjoyable night out.

Sometimes I get tired of hearing the same type of music so it’s nice to be able to just switch floors to get a different atmosphere instead of having to go to completely different clubs and wait in line again. It gets packed but the bartenders are really friendly so they make the wait for a drink enjoyable

P E: This 5 star review could not be more merited after a very busy Halloween Saturday night. The measure of an establishment is not only how well it executes its positive experience but also how it reacts when it gets something wrong. And we had one BIG hiccup. We had ordered tables and bottle service beforehand. Arrived around 11:30. The door staff were not the most cheerful but they're probably cold and dealing with a lot of drunk people so they have very little patience. All the different lines were very disorganized as well. Once we got in, my party were taken straight to our main floor table and introduced to Val. She was VERY happy and VERY cheerful and a wonderful and attentive server. There was a security staffer in the tables area at that time. We had some drinks, danced a little and settled in. After about 45 minutes we decided to leave our area to explore the other floors. Each has different music and a different vibe and it's a treat to wander and explore! And bring cash so you can tip the bathroom staffer. I was very embarrassed that I did not have any cash on me to say thank you to him. We wandered and danced for about 45 minutes. When we came back, we found a large group of ladies at our table and in our section. There was no security guard to be seen anywhere. We shooed them away and although they protested and argued with us for a bit they did eventually move away. That was when we discovered they had drunk our entire bottle of champagne and started in on our two liquor bottles having had approximately another 25% of each. We were appalled and shocked. We took the situation up with Val and she quickly gave us another bottle of champagne. However she didn't really know what to do about the liquor. We approved the check but mentioned that we would have to follow up with someone the next day about the situation. A few minutes later a staffer (we assume some kind of manager) came to us with another full bottle of liquor with their compliments. We were not expecting it and we were very grateful. Suffice to say, we were entirely satisfied with their handling of the situation and they turned the situation around completely for us. We had a wonderful rest of the evening and are eagerly looking forward to returning in the future. Val and the team at Ultrabar completely executed the right moves even when things went wrong. Major shout out to her. She made what could have been a bad review into a stellar customer service experience. We cannot recommend Ultrabar enough. Ps. They did acknowledge that there should have been a security staffer there keeping guard and mentioned that there usually is. Tips: If you have table service and everyone wishes to leave the table, GIVE YOUR BOTTLES TO THE BOTTLE SERVICE SERVER. Even if there is a security staffer there, they may be called away to deal with another situation.

Stephanie Trelles: I came to visit Washington DC for the weekend for Easter. My husband and I went to Ultrabar waiting in line for a little over 30 minutes just to get to the door and staff checking ID told my husband he was not allowed in because he had sneakers on. When I asked how come if every other male there had sneakers on and it was never mentioned in the dress code online. He responded very rudely and very unprofessional. The experience would have been a lot better if staff would have treated us fairly. I would think twice about attending this nightclub.

Kim & Ben: We were a little nervous to visit decades after reading the reviews, but we ended up going for a bit to celebrate a friend’s birthday and actually had a great time! The line to enter was long, but moved quickly. They did a thorough check point where they pat you down, check bags and check jacket pockets. You get carded at the door and have to pay a $20 cover if you don’t have a VIP pass. We all got the free VIP pass off their website and, so we didn’t have to pay the cover fee. Once inside, you can visit each floor of the club to get a different music experience. The top floor was the most crowded, and it was very hot, but our group still had a good time dancing. One of the middle floors (I think it was the 90’s floor) was less crowded, and you could feel the air conditioning, so we stayed there most of the time. Our friends said the bartenders were nice, and we didn’t have any negative experiences with bouncers either. We had a ton of fun at Decades and would love to visit again sometime! If you haven’t been, I’d stop by and give it a try!

Itzel Trejo: I used to love this place but friends and I went to a day party after Sunday brunch and saw a rat right on the rooftop bar. We notified staff and they did not care. We decided to leave because the rat was right next to the bottles so we felt uncomfortable getting drinks. Staff response was that we live in a city and rats are everywhere and although I understand there’s still expectations when it comes to rats near what costumers consume. I would have expected a better costumer service response. Go at your own risk.

Towards the end of it I wanted to use the bathroom and this one security guy did not let me use the bathroom. After I insist I really need to use it badly than he told me that if I give him 100 dollar and the other security guy 100 then he will let me use the bathroom. What a worst service is that. I ask him who is the owner of this place let me speak to him and he refuses me and told me get out of here. Is this how you treat with the customer. It was so terrible. There many other people standing and watching this incident.

The entry fee is 20 dollars, it must be reduced to 10 dollars because the place is not worthy now adays and there is no respect for the customer, the security workers are very rude, the place is not clean ,the pool table is in poor condition and the prices fluctuate every weekend, the price varies, there is no credibility.. I didn't want to talk about this, because every week I was saying that the situation would get better, but to no avail. You should notice this, because the customers are gradually declining. Please pay attention to these notes. Today was my last visit to the place and I could not stand staying for more than an hour and 45 minutes. I will not go back again if these comments are not considered.

Drew Inge: If you’re an LGBTQ person do NOT come here. First of all, aside from the fact that this bar is not lgbt friendly it’s absolutely disgusting. The first floor of decades smells like a portopotty. The drinks are ridiculously overpriced compared to any other comparable “club” in DC. The cover is $20 which would be fine if it had any redeemable qualities worth the cover. As far as it being not LGBTQ friendly, the staff is not trained on how to handle LGBTQ people, the bathrooms are labeled All Gender but they have staff guarding them(even though they are single stall) allowing only females into one and “men”(those they deem visible men) into the room with only urinals available(on the rooftop) My personal experience on the rooftop after entering the “all gender” restroom was I was pulled out by the staff and then told I was not allowed to use that facility and I could enter the mens room because that room was for women only. I politely informed them I did not want to use the room with the urinals and the straight men and was then yelled at by security and told that I had no choice. IF YOU ADVERTISE ALL GENDER RESTROOMS THEN YOU STAND BY THAT STATEMENT. Will not return after this. I’ve visited numerous times and had multiple bad experiences but returned because I have so many straight friends who visit and want to experience different decades of music. If you want to experience the cliche of every decade and it be absolutely horrible then by all means please visit Decades DC but I’d spend my money at other establishments that cater to their clients much better; lgbtq or not.

Sophie Wophie: Me and my friends used to love to come to decades but each time we get some sort of mistreatment. The guards are rude and RACIST. One time one of the guard told us ‘this ain’t your s**t, when we try to get to our VIP table. Ever time we go there it feels like they assume just because we’re black we can’t afford VIP. I’m tired of this racist treatment, I will take my money somewhere where it’s appreciated.

Giles Peng: I visited this club recently to hear some DJs I hadn’t heard live yet. Overall, it was a fun experience with a friendly crowd and very danceable music. I got there early, but the line to get in starts getting long between an hour or two after the club opens. The crowd was trendy and more than a few club-goers were quite good dancers. I’m sure to visit this club again for the intimate dance floor, nice selection of drinks, and the DJs spinning music that kept the crowd going on a fairly high fidelity sound system.

Either way, the sound system was excellent, we got a table, but it was a bit crowded at some points. The place was clean, no dirty, stick tables. Only annoying part was the wait at the bar... My goodness! Not sure if more bartenders are needed, or what, but it was just way too long of a wait. Luckily the bathroom lines weren't nearly as long as the bar. We waited outside while getting in for a little too long, but I feel like that's to be expected.

I asked to stand next to the heaters outside last night for a minute before my uber arrived and he said “no you put yourself in this position so you can freeze.” I was really confused as to what I did but he kept saying I was “banned from echostage(?)” and that i had “snuck into the venue” somehow. Definitely got me mixed up with some other asian girl, and didn’t take my word for it when I told him I had never seen him before in my life. Extremely rude and ruined my night

Anjie: Meh, not worth a $30 cover. Outside staff and bathroom attendant were nice, professional. Bartenders slow and rude. They definitely pick who they want to serve and when. They look right past you as you are standing there and help someone who just walks up. Not sure if they are friends or regulars, but if you want tips or to stay open, you should treat newcomers just as good. Not to mention, with the exception of the staff, and MAYBE 10 guests, nobody was wearing a mask. A socially responsible club would enforce this mandate.

Abby Johnston: Terrible experience, specifically with the outside security- one of the bouncers was incredibly rude to me. The music they were playing inside was just not good. The place was also half empty and overall boring. Not at all worth the 30 minute line and overpriced ticket to get in.

I even wanted to show but they said its ok, no need. If the goal is to keep people safe, why let everyone in if you say there is a vaccine mandate? Now on to the positives, great sound, but a bit too loud. Definitely need ear plugs. Drinks well priced, security kept an eye out for drunks and fights and did a great job.

latoya fenwick: This was the worst experience I ever had at a club. I really wish I would of read these reviews first. I had a 10:30 reservation for a table. They had us standing outside in line until 12. When they finally let me and my six guests in, they brought us to a little section with what looked like a love seat. So we all weren't able sit. Then we ordered our bottles. When the bottles arrived they brought us six dirty champagne glass. They had lipstick all over them. The nerve of them in the middle of a pandemic. After we drank our bottles out of plastic cups. I wanted to order more but our server was nowhere to be found for a least an hour. When I finally hunted her down I told her I wanted to order some shots and she told me I had to go to the bar and order it myself. At this point I was ready to go. So save your money this place is not worth it.

The thing that upset me and my friends is that they had a “no sneakers policy” and one of my girls who’s a stud was wearing AF1s. Me and my friends bought tickets online and when we went there they told us the bliss club is divided into 3 part and we were supposed to go to the All black African party which is same Bliss club, when we went in the back they told us it the wrong ticket but it wasn’t the wrong ticket because the Bliss club was clearly written there, so went to the front and when we went in the front they told us it the wrong ticket we should PAID EXTRA $20. Ty Williams: Came from NYC to see a performance and visit some friends in the area. Arrived at the venue and the line wasn’t moving at all. Mind you, we bought our tickets online weeks prior. When we got inside it was maybe 50 people inside. Da hell! Also, after finally get to the front, we were told it’s an additional $40 because we had on timberland boots. I informed them we’re not from here and didn’t know there was a “no boot” policy. She then said she’ll charge us $20. We just said screw it and paid it since we came from out of town. This place is a joke. Several artists that I would have loved to seen have been here, but I’m never going back. Too many games. Long lines for no reason. Kid sized cups drinking cups — literally paid $20 for a jack and ginger. People with tables weren’t even happy from what I could see. One girl said their glasses were dirty and it took over an hour to get a bottle and the server never came back. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Go somewhere else.

It was our friends birthday and we put a deposit down for a section, we got there around 11:15 the security guard told us they are still setting up and the DJ isn’t here….. 1. You guys have two DJ’s on your flyer and both aren’t here …. 2. Your flyer and establishment states that “doors open at 10pm” Regardless, the way they handled it was… hey you guys can wait outside we should be ready in 10 minutes. 30 minutes go by in freezing temperatures and not a single update as to what is going on. What I got out of it was it was a revenue scheme. Apparently they had a “open bar from 10-12” but they were trying to prevent people from going in between those times to save money and get people to buy their expensive drinks as the other reviewers were mentioning. Once the clock struck 12 guess what… DJ is ready and they started letting people in… anyways we left cause I was about to lose a few fingers if we stood out there any longer. Terrible service don’t bother coming here!

However, towards the end of my night, my friends and I returned to this bar after going next door and we were met with a security guard (who said his name was Kyle) who took it upon himself to throw his arm around me and tell me that he would let me back in based on if I was to give him my number……cringy I know After going back and forth with him about why I could come back in and my two friends couldn’t, he put his hands on my back and gently shoved me out the door. I understand closing times and not being able to accommodate people if there’s only 20-30 minutes left in the night, but NEVER has any male security guard thrown his arm around me and then shoved me out the door. Unprofessional and super uncomfortable energy. It was the WORST way to end a great night here

Sharetta King: Cloak & Dagger made my VIP birthday party an experience to never forget! Everyone had an amazing time and we have future plans to celebrate there again. Sonny and his staff were phenomenal. A member along with security checked on us often. The service was great and always on time and they knew what we wanted before having to ask. The atmosphere was really fun and the DJ could not have been better. Sonny also took the time to hang out with the party and conversed with each of us much longer than other club owners had.

C Lee: Fun and casual nightlife with a great DJ and good music! We got table service and it was perfect. The area is small but it worked out well for our group. Service was excellent - she was present without being overbearing and was accommodating about splitting the check. The dance floor was packed with people ready for fun and dancing. It was cozy and comfortable - definitely not a pretentious spot. We went for a bachelorette and they did everything to make it a fun night for our soon-to-be bride. The owner was friendly and helpful. And the DJ and host were friendly and really good at getting the crowd going.

Christina Tang: One thing I love about Cloak & Dagger is that you will always have a great time. The music is always hype, the crowd is filled with positive vibes and high energy. The dj at Cloak & Dagger really knows what type of music to play to please a diverse crowd. The bartenders always makes my drinks perfectly! Out of all the clubs on U st. , I know that if I want to go somewhere that has good music, good alcohol, and a good crowd, Cloak & Dagger is the place to go. Not to mention, the owners are super sweet and genuine. They will always take care of you and make sure you have a fun time. Anytime I have been to Cloak & Dagger, I would stay until 2-3am without realizing it, because I would be having such a great time that I would forget to check my phone. 10/10 would recommend!

Yvonne Truong: I NEVER write reviews but let me tell you the place is amazing! Filled with good energy and a lovely atmosphere. Every time I am there the owner (Sonny) always makes sure I have a good time.

Ian Pitts: Cozy venue with multiple bars and some food options. Parking is only a block or two away and there are options for food right nearby within walking distance. The ticket checking process was smooth and they even checked a camera that was deemed "professional" for free during the show.

Saminda Wijegunawardena: First time I went to the 930 Club was the one on F Street in 1990. I was a senior in high school and went to see the Ocean Blue perform. They encored with the Smiths' "There is a Light that Never Goes Out" that night. The experience was incredible and indelible. The energy in that small crowded space embodied everything about live music that I enjoyed and was such a milestone for me in my young musical journey. When they moved to their current location a few years later, I was dubious about how it would be. But it didn't disappoint. I saw countless shows there from Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Morphine, and so many more. It somehow had the same intimate energy even in such a larger space. Now back after 2 decades in California, I have come to appreciate it even more. Recently saw Caribou and the Midnight and both shows were epic. Great sound, and always can get a good angle on the stage. Look forward to enjoying many more shows here in the years to come.

Anna S: I just took my daughter and her friends to this venue for the first time for an all ages show last night. I am so glad that I did! She and her high school friends had a great time! My friend and I had a nice view from the balcony bar and were able to enjoy ourselves and have our eyes on the girls at all times. We called the club earlier in the evening and the woman who answered the phone gave us great instructions on where to park as well! They take the mask and vaccinations proof seriously as well, which made me feel more comfortable about safety. Bathrooms were clean at the beginning and f the night. Overall, for a place to get 4 decades of people all enjoying the same music and scene, the 9:30 Club did a great job.

Tori Barker: We barely waited in line and we showed up 15 minutes before the show began which in my opinion was fantastic. When I say barely waited I mean the staff greeted us immediately, looked at our vax cards and IDs and because my boyfriend had lost his mask we had to wait 1 minute so the staff could grab us one. The staff were so kind and even though it was super cold they had such a great attitude and welcoming vibe. So thankful for everything at the venue. The people inside were also great and of course the Bartender, fantastic. I could not ask for more from this venue. The set up inside is stunning and our show was amazing! I am from NC but came up to D.C. to see Misterwives and I am so glad it did. A night to remember from start to finish, thank you 9:30 for all you do to keep entertainment alive during these times.

Kevin Fiol: Great venue! Sound was awesome. Stage allows for great views etc. However... I was charged $2 for a 6oz cup of water. They do not sell bottled water (or intentionally sold me a TINY water) There's no place to smoke or vape once you enter the venue so you have to go outside and then go through the entire line again.

Nathan Faneuf: Amazing venue, been here twice so far. Would definitely see a show here. Bring ear plugs, very loud, but good sound. Drinks are expensive, 9 dollars for a shot of Jack Daniels. Friendly staff.

Osaurus G: This is a pretty good venue. Love all the bars and the openness of the floor. The balcony area offers some great views of bands (Bob Mould for me)

Mintchoco- nae: I miss the old Pose when it was more like a club. I come to the Gaylord once a year for Katsucon in February. Usually I drop a few hundred dollars on drinks for myself and my friends over the course of the weekend. We loved dancing and hanging out in the comfortable lounge areas. I liked it because it was a fun space for older convention goers. The rooftop bar was my absolute favorite thing about visiting, hands down. The new theming is millennial Instagram bait. It's unoriginal and tacky in the worst way. All of the decor pieces looked like they were just haphazardly installed over the previous ones. The bright lights are left on. I remember those same bright lights used to only be turned on to kick everyone out at 2AM. Now they're constant as if inviting you to leave immediately. The music is quiet. No one was dancing or even remotely looked like they were having a good time. The line for drinks was all the way to the elevators, and while the bartenders were trying to handle things to the best of their ability, they were understandably swamped. You could take one look at the laborious specialty drink menu and see why. There are arcade machines in the back that I didn't bother to check out because I heard it cost a dollar to play any of them. I really see what yall were going for here, but my friends and I spent a very sad 30 minutes here (02/19/2022) before deciding to just go drink in our room. It was severely disappointing. I can tell the place isn't finished, since the second floor wasn't open, so I'm curious to see it once it is totally complete. I know covid has hit everyone hard and it is probably very difficult to keep the place well staffed. I do understand this. I just want to let you know what one of your biggest fans thinks of the new changes, and how bummed we all were. Maybe I'll change my review next year, but as it is, please consider making some changes to the atmosphere. Thank you!

MiMi R: This was such a cute themed bar. The set up looked retro. I'd say it gives off a 1980-1990s vibe. They have arcade games, cool furniture and stellar views of the harbor.

Squirrely: Stop by replay if you're looking for a really fun 80s themed night. There's plenty of seating space throughout and an outdoor patio which wraps around one corner of the building. The views of the harbor are really great from outside as well. They have some very unique drinks themed after some of your '80s favorites, but the bartenders can also whip up whatever you like. There are also a few arcade games to play with friends as you reminisce about the good old days.

Frank L: The new 80's theme was interesting. Understandably a COVID labor shortage, so only 2 bartenders, no wait staff, serving the crowd. Took what seemed like 20 mins, standing at the bar, to order a drink. Hopefully, once pandemic behind, service will be restored to it's former splendor.

Megan Anderson: Bouncer was incredibly rude. It's a lounge, get over yourself.

Ty Black: This is the only place I like to dance at. They got rid of 80s night it seems, but that's fine cause the music is still better than other places. People tend to be nice and not creepy. But it is small so it gets really crowded and drinks sometimes get spilled.

Aurore Lrdlc: The place in itself and staff are nice (the only reasons why I could come back). However over the three bands playing on stage, only one was listenable. The other two were (sorry)... atrocious (in addition to the sound which was a way too loud). The public was only made up of families and members of the other bands... I do not know how the bands selection is made and maybe I did not come on the right day, but for a Saturday night I was strongly disappointed by the stage (and I'm not the only one). I lost $12 cover and my ears came out in blood. Will not come again unless I checked the bands before coming.

Bin “habesh times” Fi: It’s an okay club seen. Bouncer asked me for money as a bribe because my friend forgot her Id. The music is a C+ not very good or bad. Drinks are fair priced considering the area and the time.

Karoll William Visual Arts:  Learn to pronounce I just got mistreated by the person at the door. I visited this bar as part of the artists that performed that night, at a time when I went out to smoke a cigarette on the sidewalk in front, he tells me with an attitude that I had to go to the corner. I replied that I was on the street, that it is a public place and told me that then my night was "over" and that he would not let me in again. Of course I went to another friendlier place. I attach the picture of the stupid.

Alex Lima: This venue tend to have very good bands. But, they cut the shows off too early to give the stage to the house DJ that is nothing more than average. The venue does nit sell food and the drinks are somewhat overpriced.

Edward Eilers: Open later and good atmosphere, decent drinks. Well lit areas plus spaces to sit and also less light in some areas. Overall as a small club it is good for the area, another way to unwind.

frank swyca: Topicalia Lounge is a really cool night spot. Eclectic live music and decent DJ later at night keeps the vibe popping. I took a friend from out town there and they loved it! My favorite spot in that 14th St. club area. Worth checking out if you have not.

Le Mont Bennett (Mr Monte): As I topped the stairs I was transported to a magical space, Victorian parlor meets speak easy, with a few sprinkles of rave. The vibe was chill and but energetic, like meeting friends one has not seen in awhile. I met new people and had my soul filled with good music.

Kathryn Wheeler: Love this place. The wood floors vibrate to the music. They have a variety of genres being played live and by DJ simultaneously in different rooms so you can flow from vibe to vibe and feel like you're club crawling without leaving the building. The crowd is late 20s-30s and a bit more sophisticated/professional than other venues in the area, without being pretentious. The drinks aren't cheap, but I feel that the quality of entertainment is worth paying a little extra for. I make it a point to stop in for a little dancing whenever I'm in DC.

Ken's Painting & Handyman Svcs Tyson: Dance music scene at its finest. ESL has one of the best vibes of any venue anywhere. The music talent is fantastic. It's the birthplace of Thievery Corporation after all. House DJs, Trip-Hop, Downtempo, Live Jazz & Latin fusion most notably come to mind. Contributing to the good vibes is that it's a townhouse converted into a lounge/club so there's several different rooms to explore. Another bonus is that there's hardly any douchey-ness to the crowd at all.

Nicolas M. Aiello: The name "lounge" is very misleading for the venue; this place doesn't resemble any lounge I've been to. There's very, very limited seating. And the music played by DJs on every level is 'club-loud' in volume. Don't expect a relaxed environment, or the ability to sit with a drink and have a conversation. All in all, it's still a fun atmosphere. And the live jazz was awesome! It's just not at all what we were expecting, hence 4 instead of 5 stars

Will Sullivan: My favorite spot in DC. I love the different rooms and vibes in each. From live bands, DJ’s, an outdoor bar, to a nice relaxing lounge; this place has it all. I heard the owners are pretty cool too 🤙

Cary Owsley: Sweet night spot in downtown DC. There are four separate dancefloors that all place different music. On the top floor, they had a live jazz band playing as well. Reasonably priced drinks and a coat check as well. Keep in mind there is a $10 cover charge after 11.

Sharde McQueen: Loved it!!! Everything was Fabulous drinks 🍸 people and vibes! The music was definitely a delight all the varieties were amazing 😉 will return! Our server was excellent and the atmosphere couldn’t have been better !
