Budget Blinds of Bethesda & Silver Spring: what do users think?

Margo S: Prompt. Easy. Not intimidating or pressuring. Roslyn is friendly, but all business. She carries a HUGE selection of materials and brands and styles. She is knowledge, but doesn’t tell you what would look good, rather she provides suggestions based on the needs and preferences you give her, and then modifies the suggestions based on your reactions to her initial suggestions, and she tells you if something might not work as well and why, all of which worked well for me. Timely appointments. Installation was quick, and clean. Prices are average.

Margo Warren: The Salesperson Roslyn Ashford was very efficient and very clear on our options. She brought some demos to show how they would look. She was fast and thorough. I got my estimate quickly and better yet the blinds were installed in a little over two weeks. So refreshing after having to wait for nearly every other home improvement.

Paul Holloway: Great service and quality product - prompt and courteous representatives (had great ideas), installed on time and did a great job. Very impressed with the quality of the blinds and installation. Would definitely recommend them!

Dayna Kuhar: Rosalyn, Eric, and Jeff were all extremely professional and helpful in the selection and installation process. They listened carefully to me and offered suggestions for the fabric and design. I highly recommend them!

Brandon Hoffman: I contacted Budget Blinds after learning that a company we previously used had went out of business. Luckily, the Budget Blinds team was very responsive to my inquiry to install new blinds in my DC home. The appointment was confirmed and a calendar invite with all the details was kindly sent to me for the scheduled evaluation with Roslyn. I received a reminder the day before our meeting as well, and Roslyn was a joy to work with. She expertly measured all spaces and provided me with a detailed list of materials and finishes. Roslyn made quick work of the job, and we were both on our way less than 30 minutes later. The company sent me a formal written quote the next day, and we immediately knew the prices were very reasonable. We contracted them a day later and manufacturing took exactly three weeks to complete. Eric came to install the new blinds, and I was happily surprised by the quality of materials and magnetic fasteners. He also made quick work of the installs and completed each in just a few minutes. Before I knew it, he was done and I was admiring the craftsmanship and install. I couldn’t be happier! Thanks, Budget Blinds. We’ll certainly use you again.

Amy Solomon: We installed 5 new blinds in our home last month. I am extremely pleased with the service we received. Roslyn was flexible in scheduling us and Eric installed the blinds in about an hour. Both were professional and friendly and proud of their work. The color and fit of the blinds is perfect in the room. I highly recommend Budget Blinds!

J P: Roslyn and team made the whole process so efficient - easy to schedule an appt for them to measure, fast turnaround on the quote and a seamless online process for accepting the quote and making payment. Blinds came in on schedule and the team was out within the week to install. The new blinds were exactly as ordered and look great! Really could not have been a smoother process. Highly recommend Budget Blinds!

Marion Dorfman: Budget Blinds installed blinds on 3 windows for me and I was very satisfied. Each stage was handled promptly. The installer was efficient and pleasant. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

The Shade Store: what do users think?

Karen Hampton: Just got my new Roman shades installed from the Shade Store in my ktichen and they are truly fabulous (follow up in six months)! My sales associate, Jordanna, assisted me and stayed in communication with me from day one (appreciate that). She also was helpful in selecting an accomodating fabric (shade novice I am). And lastly, my installer, Nicholas, was great. On time, considerate of my home (mask and booties) and went beyond the call of duty to make sure I was pleased. Saving up for maybe another room.

Jose Bravo: Walked into The Shade Store @ the 14th street location in DC NW. Was greeted & assisted by Elizabeth Makonnen. Her Product knowledge was to say the least, very extensive. She helped me narrow down the perfect window covering for my rental unit. Huge kudos to her.

Karen McFarlane: Love our new drapes from The Shade Store! They really complete the room! Karen at the Wellesley store was very helpful with design. They also took care of measurements and installation - quick and easy! Great selection of fabrics and end product was top quality. I do wish they had a wider selection of hardware, but we found something that worked for us. We will be back when we tackle the next room!

Sara Swabb: We have worked with The Shade Store on several projects in Washington, DC and Virginia. Accuracy and flexibility are key for semi-custom and custom window treatments and The Shade Store has delivered time and time again for us. Thank you to The Shade Store DC team and Philippa Baker!

Tucker Riner: I manage an interior design firm in NW DC and have had the pleasure of working with Leo at the 14th Street location on behalf of our clients many times. Streamlined process and beautifully curated collection of window treatments (both drapery and shades) make for a seamless, turn-key experience for tradespeople and homeowners alike. Our clients love their treatments as much as we loved designing them!

Monica Weeks: Leo is the absolute best. Everyone in the store was helpful and kind but Leo was the associate assigned to my project and he was so helpful and prompt in replying. The Shade Store is a beautiful store and I loved the layout. It was easy to feel and see the products and installation was easy to schedule and do. I waited until I’d gone through the whole process before writing a review. I have to say I’ve been very happy with this experience. To be honest I did find a couple quotes less than the shade store but the ease of going in a convenient location in dc and their customer service was totally worth paying a little more. Highly recommend and I can’t wait to place my second order!

Ed Wood: I wish I could give them 0 stars. I ordered 5 fabric Roman shades and all 5 were incorrect when they were installed. They remeasured and replaced them for free, but all 5 if the replacements were also incorrect (in different ways from the first set). They remeasured and sent a third set which were still incorrect (again, in different ways from the first two orders). This has all taken over 5 months. Getting a refund and going to another company. Update: they gave me a partial refund and the only communication I have received is the response below. Jacklyn was not "in touch", I just received an email with the partial credit amount and no explanation. At these prices they should have better customer service and quality control.

Rex G: It’s great to find good options, better to find so many great options in one place and even better to find them so nicely displayed with samples to take home with you. But it’s Casey C that makes shopping at the shade store THE BEST! Her delightful energy through the entire process of selection, measuring and ordering always made me smile. When there was an issue with my initial selection after the measurement appointment, she didn’t hesitate to call me to work through some alternate options that wouldn’t get caught on my doorknob. Her attention to detail and patience quoting a few different combinations led to an even better result in the end. When the solar shade and xl blinds came in, it was clear that The Shade Store takes pride in what they do- the materials and construction are nicer and the installation was easier than any other window treatment I’ve installed. They may cost more than the competition, but you definitely get what you pay for in this case. Top notch customer service from Casey and beautiful, well made products both mean that I’ll be back for more!

The Shade Store: what do users think?

SARAH LADITKA: We love our new window treatments from the Shade Store in Georgetown! Emily was wonderful to work with from start to finish – she discussed all of the options and helped us find window treatments that work well and look fabulous. The solar roller shades, with the most transparency, are fantastic for all windows; we can look out and have a lot of privacy. We also have Roman shades in the bedrooms. The electric system with the shades works perfectly and is great for large windows. Thank you, Emily.

Brent Robertson: Incompetence from start to finish. Scheduled a measurement from 8-10AM on a workday. No show. No call. No follow up. Just two hours of my time wasted. I had to call corporate line where I was “helped” by a gentleman who offered little-to-no apology. Verbatim quote - “Yeah, so, I called the store and they said there was, a uh, issue that uh, came up. Sorry.” Shade Store? More like...Nothing Store.

Chris Sliger: My wife and I had couldn’t be happier with our remote controlled roller shades. Tom patiently put up with our indecision and Tim measured on-site multiple times. In the end it all came together with a great product. We really appreciate the awesome customer service from everyone we dealt with.

Stephen: Wow - I am simply at a loss for words about how I feel about my installation (3 months in!). Will provide more details later. My advice, stay away from this train wreck! Unless you have a strong legal team, I would suggest you avoid these people

Budget Blinds of Northwest Washington DC: what do users think?

Kristen B.: Amazing overall experience! Anton and his team are truly fantastic. He’s so professional, knowledgeable and responsive! They have a HUGE selection of styles and materials. He had so much patience while we chose the right blinds for my house. He went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and satisfied. If you’re looking to bring your home to life with new blinds, you’ve found the right place! He is truly passionate about his craft! Did I mention how beautiful the new blinds look!? Wow 10/10!

Chandra Hampton: Amazing experience all the way around! My shades are gorgeous, Anton made ordering very easy and Scott did a perfect install (not to mention he’s so pleasant to be around). Scott is a perfectionist and made sure everything was to my satisfaction. I highly recommend.

Erica Brooks: Budget Blinds was Awesome with a Capital A. The whole process was the easiest and least stressful of all of my home improvements this year. I would highly recommend Budget Blinds. The staff and quality of product and service was excellent. The install was quick and efficient. The product line was explained with great detail and proficiency. Top notch service!

Ashley James-Smith: I worked with Anton and Budget Blinds on a custom order. Not only was the window a special shape and size but I wanted to match the color of already-existing window treatments. The team did a great job; appointments were promptly made, communication was consistent and clear and I ended up with exactly what I wanted. Would definitely recommend their service to others and will use them again if/when I have a need.

Drew Williams: Anton was awesome to work with and very responsive! Scott installed our blinds and did a great job all around! Overall product and service was outstanding and I would highly recommend Anton if you are in the market for new blinds!

Wendell Douglas: Great product and price. That’s not the best part. Anton is a hands on owner. When my dog ripped down and chewed up my shades. Budget Blinds NQA Warranty (No questions asked) is exactly what it means. Anton re-ordered my shades, didn’t ask a thousand questions about what happened or why. The shades arrived in about a week. I work like everybody else and was unable to take off during the day just to have a shade installed. Anton came out at 7:30 pm, and installed my shade. What other company replaces your shade for FREE when your dog destroys them, and what owner comes out and installs the shade himself for you at 7:30 to accommodate your schedule? Budget Blinds of NW DC, that’s who. Thanks, Wendell

Kevie Lusby: Budget Blinds was incredible during our purchasing process. The staff was efficient and effective. We LOVED the Blinds!

Chris Silva: Anton was wonderful to work with. He was very flexible with scheduling time to meet with us. He was also very patient during our selection process. Highly recommend him for any future projects you may have.

Jenn Cook: Blinds look great and the installer was extremely nice.I think the blinds a bit pricey but I still love the blinds that received.

Budget Blinds of Chevy Chase/College Park & Georgetown: what do users think?

Pauline Hutcherson: Thrilled with our experience. The in-home consultation, the product selection options and the final installation were wonderful and ensured a perfect final product. Brian was so knowledgeable and provided valuable insight on the different products, where and how best to invest to make our rooms sparkle and was just terrific to work with. We purchased three different types of blinds for three different rooms - each to address different needs. Installation was a breeze and we are grateful for Scott’s time and attention in installing them. Overall, we are very happy with the personal service and beautiful results. Could not recommend this team more highly!!!

Crystal Napial: We had the best experience with Brian and Budget Blinds! We compared a couple different local companies but decided to go with Budget Blinds because of their amazing selections and pricing. Also, Brian was so incredibly helpful during the whole process, guiding us when we really had little idea of what we wanted to do. We just had them installed a few days ago and we could not be happier. Would absolutely recommend!

Cynthia Alston: Wonderful experience. Working with Brian who explained the process and cost made it pleasant and affordable. Including the gentleman who installed the blinds. I would definitely recommend their service.

Meghan Chaney: We had a great experience with Brian and Budget Blinds! He is so knowledgeable and helped us make smart decisions for our new home. The outcome looks great and we couldn’t be happier!

Susan Lester: Love my new blinds! Brian and Scott are excellent and easy to work with. Thank you!

John Butsch: My experience with Budget Blinds was top notch! The sales representative Brian and the installer Scott were both very professional and helped me feel that I had made the right decision to go with Budget Blinds.

Stoneside Blinds & Shades: what do users think?

Mary Johnson: I would like to thank Alan Anderson our technician for arriving on time and being so professional. I had a busy day with 5 contractors in the home and it was important that everyone arrived on time. Alan answered all my questions and concerns about our blinds and their functionality. He was very accommodating and went above and beyond what was expected. I highly recommend him and Stoneside for your window covering needs.

Sichou Kong: Alan, the installer, did a fantastic job. The blinds look amazing and his customer service was top notch. He walked us through the functioning of each blind mechanism and made sure we were happy with every aspect of his work. Would definitely recommend!

Suzanne McGuire: The installer Alan was fantastic! He came on time l, was really nice and put our 9 blinds up super quick. He demonstrated how they work. They look amazing. The fabric is beautiful and the mechanisms to raise and lower them are easy to use. I would recommend them in a heartbeat! Thank you Stonside (and Alan)! Suzanne M.

Marisa Planells: Alan, the Stoneside technician who installed our blinds was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable and proactive. He proposed unique solutions tailored to our custom made blinds and and we are very satisfied with the level of attention and service received.

Stacy Nathaniel Jackson: Stoneside installers and service techs are the best! The blinds are beautiful but when an issue came up, customer service scheduled a diagnosis and solution. This is not a wam bam thank you mam company. Shout out to Alan and Mike.

Deborah Carneiro: I previously worked with Paul, Michael and Heidi when I purchased remote roller shades. Paul is an amazing interior decorator and chose the charcoal fabric for my blinds. He truly listens to your style and what you’re looking for. Michael installed the blinds with precision quality he truly cares that everything is perfect and makes time to make you happy with scheduling. Heidi kept me informed throughout the whole process of ordering to installation. Paul and his Team Truly provide the utmost customer service, quality in installation and most importantly a truly amazing experience that you will tell all your friends about. Paul truly has amazing decorating style. I am a loyal client that highly recommends Paul and his Team, I have talked to my friends how amazing Paul and his Team is. You truly will be happy 😃 choosing them for window coverings, then you too will soon tell all your friends and family about Paul’s Team.

Elaine B: I had never heard of Stoneside, but I took a chance after seeing the great reviews, and I couldn’t be happier! Paul came and gave me some great recommendations for a Roman shade and two roller shades. I hadn’t considered roller shades before, but he convinced me and I am so happy we went with them. The quality is great, and I feel good knowing they are backed with a lifetime warranty. Michael did our install and was fantastic, making sure everything was just right.

Kayla Loback: Paul was great at designing our rooms. He was patient, kind, and knew what he was doing. Mike installed the blinds and he also was fantastic. Mike had to come out more times than usual, but he was always very nice. I would recommend anyone to use Stoneside, you might wait longer, but the customer service and quality is worth it!

The Shade Store: what do users think?

Jamie Kramer: We worked with Gwen at the Potomac location and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. We needed window coverings around the whole house and she was so helpful helping us figure out the best type and style for our home. We even had a small issue with install and they rectified it immediately. Top not customer service. Would definitely use them again.

Barbara Jackson: I’m in a remote location. I had a great experience with the design service. The entire experience from design, order and install was exceptional. All except install was virtual.

Meg Mitchell: Gwen was incredibly helpful and both our measure and install appts were easy and professional. We love our shades and are delighted with the entire experience.

Gitika Kaul: I’m so saddened by my experience with the shade store in Potomac. I’ve been dealing with them now for 6 months and I’ve been through 2 different sales associates. Their customer care is pretty poor, the follow up is nearly non existent, they had to send someone out 2x for measures and still didn’t get everything we needed measured. I’ve been trying to order from them now for over a month and can’t get anyone to return my call or email. I don’t know how they are in business. I expect more when I am purchasing expensive window coverings. I’m going to have to start from scratch with another company due to their lack of response. Doesn’t give me a lot of faith in their product if their service is so poor. I so wanted this to work. I’m not a regular review writer but they have not gotten back to me despite repeated attempts I figure this May finally get their attention. Not terribly hopeful frankly!

Allan Lee: The Shade Store is so lucky to have Gwen Seidlitz represent their business. If you are reading this, you are probably researching high quality window treatments for your home. We purchased and installed 37 window and door treatments in our new home from Gwen. The task of trying to figure out the window treatment style, the right material and the fit with our existing furniture could have been stressful but thanks to Gwen’s patience, expertise and style sense, we were able to complete the selection with ease. We never thought about the potential sun damage to our furniture and art, the infinite options of material, the ease of motorized treatments and the degree of privacy we needed for particular windows in our home. We now enjoy the function and beauty of each window everyday. Gwen always responded quickly to all our questions or concerns. Save yourself precious time and head over to the Shade Store and ask for Gwen!

Janice Kullman: The process was easy and so much quicker than the last place I had been using. They have a huge selection and expert sales people, measurers and installers who all work together seamlessly. The shades arrived quickly and look great!

Jennifer Gitner: Have done numerous jobs with Gwen over the past 6 months at the Rockville location. Always a great outcome. Gwen is very reliable and knowledgeable. Love their products.

Benita Stokes: Just got blinds installed by the Shade Store,. Jill Taylor was so helpful with all my questions and making my final decision. They are perfect for the space.

Mudan Interior Design - Esther Chi: It has been a pleasure working with Gwen Seidlitz from the Potomac, MD store. My interior design firm have done a couple of full house window treatments with her and the experience has been great. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient and detailed. Are there hiccups along the way on large orders (especially during the pandemic)? Yes! But Gwen Seidlitz has been great in assisting with working through the various ordering and installation issues. Great customer service! Ultimately great window treatments installed and I would not hesitate to work with Gwen and the Shadestore again for my future projects!

Laura Collins: Gwen Seidlitz at The Shade Store has helped me this year with 12 shades for my new house and I love every one of them! She is very knowledgeable and takes time to help with design and takes the worry out of making an investment in your interior spaces.

Beltway Blinds: what do users think?

Greta Killerlane: Beltway Blinds offered a professional, clean custom shutter install for my house. Everyone responded on time and the installer did a tidy and professional job with just one man. The only thing I wasn’t happy about was that I wanted to add two more shutters to my order of 14 custom shutters and in the four or five months that it took to have them made, the customer service/sales center wouldn’t add them to my order so that everything could be done at one time. Now I have to make a separate order for two more shutters. But other than that they were great.

Ebonie Marie: Ricky and Justin were AMAZING!! I love the plantation shutters they did through out my first floor and master bedroom. Quickly but efficiently fitted the shutters and made sure they were to my liking! Communicated with me the entire process. Explained to me how the shutters were going to fit into my slightly off windows( older home) and how he was going to fix so that wouldn’t be able to tell. Everything is SEAMLESS!! Wasn’t going to but getting 4 more windows done now and I’m requesting Ricky and Justin for my install!

S M: I would encourage people to look elsewhere for the cost and quality of services we recevied from Beltway Blinds. We had moved into a new house and knew we needed window coverings. We liked the idea of working with a local company and supporting them as well as hopefully better customer service, unfortunately that is not the experience we had. We waited almost 3 months for installation and as you can see from the installation it was underwhelming. The solution for customer plantation blinds was standard blinds with filler wood and caulk (install team left in middle of install to buy filler/caulk at Home Depot) behind that obviously does not match which leaves me to question longevity. Additionally, they are literally falling out of the wall as well as a general lack of attention to detail. They were screwed in without any regard and found numerous nails and screws on the floor after they left. We have tried to reach out regarding concerns and they have been unresponsive to email so far. Will update if response changes.

Bonnie Wylie: My experience with Beltway Blinds is very positive. This is my second purchase from them. My sales representative, Stephen, is very knowledgeable about the product. Normally I would not have purchased during an initial meeting. However, Beltway Blinds did very good work for my neighbor. I am also very pleased with my past experience with Beltway Blinds. The sales representative and all of the people I have talked with by telephone have been professional and informative. I would highly recommend this business.

Katie K: Alan Fann our consultant for Beltway Blinds was great! My husband and I were very pleased and enjoyed the whole experience. There were great products and lots selections, Alan provided valuable advice, and made the process painless and fun. The price was less then the others we shopped around. Alan was super accommodating by coming back out to our home when we decided to change up the color of the blinds for one of the rooms. I highly recommend Beltway Blinds for all your window covering needs.

Annette Klaput: We came across Beltway Blinds at the MD home and garden show. We were able to make an appointment right there for the next week. Alan showed up for the appointment on time. He helped us pick the right blinds/ shades and shutters for our home. Alan was amazing to work with. He offered great suggestions and options to meet our needs. The only negative is he is a Washington Capitals fan.🙁. Despite that we still purchased the window coverings at a great price. Thank you Alan. Let’s go Pens

Julie Gloudemans: My initial experience was great. Nice salesperson. The installers were on time and efficient. There were two issues with the install but I was promised that it would be quickly fixed (2 to 3 weeks) with no charge. It took more like 6 weeks to fix and some pushing from me. However, the staff were understanding about my concerns and truly seemed to strive for excellent customer service. I would use them again even though it could have been smoother.

Jaime Whitfield-Coffen: Just had a visit with Jason and (Tim who is in training) regarding installing shades in our home. Jason was very thorough and built our knowledge about shades before we took a look at products. This was so helpful when it was time to make decisions. We felt confident in our decision to make choices for our home that we would be happy with. Jason was a good listener. He took into account our needs and explained which products he thought would be best. Again this assisted us with making a solid decision. When making a big purchase such as this you want someone who genuinely wants to help you not just take advantage of you. I also liked that the company appreciated educators. Not often do you find a company that values the work that educators do each day to make our country a better place. Thank you Jason (Tim great luck as you continue your journey!)

The Shade Store: what do users think?

titanost: I had a frustrating experience here… I went in about 3 months ago and had a good experience speaking with one of their designers about the shade we wanted. I then sent her an email with some information to help finalize the project, and I never heard back from her. I called the store directly several times, left messages and spoke to a representative, and was told this designer was still working there and would get back to me, but still never heard back. Buying shades shouldn’t be this difficult!

Bryan Smith: Terrible experience. I ordered online and when the shades arrived I needed a repair. I received countless emails from Heather Pedersen at the Bethesda store as soon as I placed the order saying that she was here to help in any way. When I contacted her about the repair once the shades arrived, it was complete silence from her. After multiple attempts to contact her over multiple weeks (a ridiculously long time), I gave up and was able to do the repair via the corporate customer service. But what I thought would be a much simpler process turned into a ridiculous joke. I sent a 32 7/8” shade to be shortened, only to receive, of course, a 32 7/8” shade. I couldn’t believe it. I received the exact same shade, unrepaired, unshortened, the EXACT same width as what I sent off for repair. It’s now going in the trash and I’m done with the Shade Store. I should have learned my lesson because the shades were actually to replace one I’d bought several years ago from the same store that had literally disintegrated over the past two years.. The shade just gradually started falling apart. I thought it was a fluke, but I understand better that this is just part of a poorly run company. Cheap materials, the absolute worst customer service at the Bethesda store, and a completely nonexistent “repair.” What a waste of time and a whole lot of money.

semper sodalis: The store in Bethesda has a beautiful showroom with shades displayed over the windows so you can get a good idea what they look like before committing. Maggie is helpful with advice and gives out all the samples you want to take home. The installation is smooth. Compared to other companies, the hardware for roller shades is better quality, but not more expensive and the choice of fabric is trendier.

Joost van Hout: I could not have been happier with the service and product; very good value. Worked with Maggie for custom drapes and shades for our new home. She did an excellent job guiding us through the process and advising us on fabrics and colors. The install team was also highly professional and did a wonderful job. Highly recommended!

Stevie Carter: The blackout shades are really, truly blackout. I had my doubts but our room is nearly pitch black. Also, nice staff.

Grayce Love: Great service from Maggie.

Value Blind & Heirloom Draperies: what do users think?

Michelle Mosey: I have just completed the window treatments for my new home with Value Blind and could not be happier. This is the third home in which I have purchased window treatments from Value Blind. I bought my first home in Ashburn in 2001 as I took a job transfer from out of state and knew nothing of the area or of its businesses. I was referred to Value Blind by a co-worker and ordered mostly Hunter Douglas wood blinds. When I sold that home a few years later I needed some small repairs done before putting my home on the market and Value Blind was very helpful and quick in getting those repairs done and at no charge! I purchased my next home in Fairfax in 2006 and used them again and purchased a combination of wood blinds, honeycomb shades and Silhouettes. The products performed and looked great and I had zero problems all the while and I truly believe they enhanced the beauty of my home and aided in the selling of it! Now moving back to Ashburn and completing my third home with them I am completely amazed. We purchased mostly Silhouettes, Pirouettes and plantation shutters. We also motorized the Silhouettes and Pirouettes which kept my husband happy. These can be fairly expensive products and so I compared prices with two other blind companies and not only was Value Blind better in price but they also chose paint colors for my entire home and did drapery in the living room and dining room and even two custom rugs! My home looks like a model home, the whole look is amazing , the shades and motorization work fantastic ( my husband even hooked them up to Google for voice command) and I saved money and know that if I ever need help or service they will be there. They are a serious company with professional results.

Ramon Martinez: I have an older home in Reston Virginia. I am in the middle of renovating the kitchen and living area. I had Paula Ann with Value Blinds and Heirloom Draperies come out for a consult. She went through the various window treatment options with an eye for design and a knowledge that was impressive. The entire experience was thorough and awesome. 5 stars!

Christina Hume: I have asked Value Blinds, Ashburn to design and install different window requirements in my foyer, sewing room, master bedroom and garage. From design consult with Paula to install with Jeff, a positive experience and outcome. Highly recommend this company!

Sean: Frank and the team were amazing. They are trustworthy, honest, and truly care about their customers. Before we became a client, Frank meet with us in the store, fielded phone calls throughout our construction, advised on pre-wiring locations, and even came out to our home to evaluate the lighting, views, and planned home decor to find the best solution for us. We love the results. I’d recommend this company to anyone and everyone.

Janine Kaufman: The absolute worst customer service I have ever received…. I wish I could give a good review of this company, but unfortunately our experience has been far less than stellar. We ordered five blinds- 4 dark gray and 1 white. Probably the easiest order they’ve ever had. Couldn’t possibly be difficult! Right? WRONG..... To start off with, we visited the store in Ashburn and were greeted by a super sweet woman who told us she had zero knowledge of the product. We found it odd, but we knew what we wanted anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal. We gave the company the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she was filling in, maybe they were short staffed, surely the salesperson would be better.... WRONG AGAIN! Ray our sales woman seemed to be either inexperienced or just completely lacking in good customer service skills. She texted me while in our home for the consultation, yet told me later on that she did not have my phone number. I’ll go back to her later. Surely the installation process would be better... WRONG AGAIN!! Jeff the installer comes to install our blinds with the order form in hand. I sent him upstairs to install the blinds and stayed downstairs to finish up some work and get ready to go visit my husband in the ER who I just found out would be admitted to the hospital. He finishes and I go upstairs to see the blinds. They are not what we ordered. They are white, we ordered dark gray. I tell Jeff and he consults with someone in the office. He then looks at the order form- wouldn’t he have done this BEFORE installing?! He gives me two options. I could either pay the balance in full and keep the wrong blinds up under the condition that the correct blinds would be installed at a later date, or he could take the blinds down and I wouldn’t have to pay the balance until the correct blinds were installed. I felt very uneasy about it, but chose the first option since I didn’t have time to wait for him to take them down. I then go upstairs into the master bath where the 5th set of blinds was installed and realize that our old blinds are gone. I text Jeff to ask where they are and he says he took them because he assumed they were trash. Why? Why would he take our trash? Was he going to use them? Sell them? I found this to be very odd, especially since he didn’t ask me if they were trash. Even though he took something that he wrongly assumed was trash, he left the blinds tags that WERE clearly trash on our table. He texted me that he brought them back and left them by the front door, which meant I now had to turn around on my way the hospital to fetch them before it rained. Needless to say, none of this seemed very professional to me. Back to the wonderful Ray- I emailed her about this, expecting a reply, but as I should have expected, I never received anything from her. I forwarded her the email a week later, still nothing. I texted her TWO WEEKS after the first email to which she responded, “I passed it on, they should be contacting you shortly.” Wow! Really? So when exactly did you pass it on, Ray? And it took me contacting you three times to get this?? Definitely not what I would expect for “customer service.” Tanikah, the office manager, who at first appeared to be overly helpful and really the only one even remotely tuned in to appropriate customer service, ended up being the worst of all. I repeatedly asked her to have the owner of the company reach out to us. Excuse after excuse was given and ultimately she just stopped replying. Needless to say, we never heard from him. We even contacted the BBB who reached out to him requesting he contact us, but because the company is not part of the BBB (shocker), we never heard from him. I am just astonished by this whole experience, and would encourage you to give your business to a company who actually shows some respect for their customers.

Wendy Norwood: Excellent all around! Frank came to my home and helped me pick the right window treatments for my rooms; I received follow up calls and emails with status on delivery and then the very skilled installer came exactly when scheduled and he did a great job with the installation in each room and explained how to use the window treatments and remotes. Everyone was very professional and friendly. Highly recommend and will use again. Thanks Value Blinds!

Patty Rohr: We had Hunter Douglas luminette vertical blinds installed in our living room and they are gorgeous. Frank was extremely conversant and more than helpful in his suggestions and we are more than pleased with the results. We also had 3 1/2 inch plantation shutters installed in our two bedrooms. The finished look far exceeded our expectations. They add so much style to the rooms. Additionally, Jason, our installer was professional, polite and efficient. He knows the products inside and out and exceptionally knowledgeable. We highly recommend Value Blinds for any and all window needs.

Jay Clark: I recently consulted with Paula Ann and a value blind and hair loom draperies. She was professional, personable and had a great knack for design!

The Shade Store: what do users think?

Sonia Yomari Torres Pagán: We love our roller shades. We got automatic shades for our bedrooms and they are beautiful, material, installation is excellent quality. Since the moment we stepped into the Shade Store, the attention was phenomenal. I would recommend to everyone. Stacey Knight was our designer and she made sure we were happy with the design and the final product. She answer all our questions, made changes and gave us different options for the design.

Nina Patterson: I am so pleased with my Shade Store custom drapes! There are exactly what I wanted! Customer service is the BEST!! The install was professional and perfect! Thank you for bring the clam elegance to my home!!!

Andy Martin: Our experience with our designer, Teresa, was phenomenal. She answered all of our questions in great detail and gave us practical advice for what would work in our space. The quality of the shades is impeccable and the installer was extremely Quick and professional. Every time we look at our shades, we smile.

M AR: Great experience from start to finish, love the final products- Jocelyn and whole team just wonderful to work with, above and beyond and really helped to fix all issues, even ones from previous project. Highly recommend

Elizabeth Davis: This was my first custom curtain experience. We needed functional drapes for a sliding glass door. The Shade Store in-store experts made the process easy, changed quotes quickly and advised me on fabric durability and liners. I went back several times for different fabrics and they worked with me at my own pace. The installer came on time to measure and later install the curtains. He had them up - perfectly installed - in less than 30 minutes! Will use again.

Min Park: I placed an order in September and half of the blinds are still in production. The initial measurements were done incorrectly and it appears that it took these guys more than 10 days to even place a replacement order for the incorrectly-sized blinds after they became aware of the defect. Moreover, the customer service along the way has been terrible. They frequently ignored my phone calls and emails and rarely got back to me on time. UPDATE: The customer service reached out to me to resolve the outstanding issues with our blinds, and they did a great job. They rush ordered the blinds and installed them with minimal delay. I had a manager assisting me and supervising the progress the entire time. In view of these efforts, I have raised my evaluation of them to 3 stars.

Mary Wood: Jocelyne did an excellent job with making sure that our shades were perfect!I will have other windows done with the Shade Store. I recommend Jocelyne to anyone needing window coverings!

Gary Evans: On 06/11 we paid in full for two expensive motorized blinds for our condo at the Alexandria, Old Town store. One shade came with a defect. It has a horizontal seam in the middle of the shade and looks horrible and is inoperable. Below is my experience: 1. The measurement consultant was professional and courteous; 2. The installer, however was another story. He mounted the 2nd window brackets crooked, ¼” off and angled. The screws on all brackets are showing and appear to not be in all the way. 3 - There are paint chunks missing where his drill handle hit the paint, and fingerprints all over the wall and windows The installation was on 7/2/2021. We notified the store on the same day about the defective shade and the problems, as did the installer. We still haven’t heard from customer support, neither via email or phone. We contacted the store a few times, and all they could tell us is it’s in the support order. Unfortunately, as of today, we have not hard back on the status from the customer support. We feel that the store and the customer care should communicate.

Designers Work Room: what do users think?

Habitually Hilari: They did such an amazing job from start to finish on my vintage settee! I will highly recommend them to anyone including design professionals.

Stephen Rue: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueDesigner Workroom does exemplary work. Madame You is the best. She’s involved in every aspect of the project. She and her staff are knowledgeable, professional and will ensure the project, from beginning to end, is executed to the highest standards.

Dale Turza: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueI have worked with Designers Work Room for years and I have only THE best things to say about them. Their work and work ethic, among all other attributes, in every way rates ten stars, if not more! Fabulous old fashioned professionalism, quality, attention to detail, price and responsiveness. They are simply THE BEST. Bravo!

Amanda Flores: As an interior designer I have worked with David and Madame off and on for a few years now and they have always been very responsive and professional. David goes above and beyond to help me with some difficult drapery details. If anything needed to be fixed onsite he was willing to go out and make it right for my client. The quality of what Madame produces is very well done! In my profession it is rare to find a work room that listens to our needs and tries to find the best solutions, they do an excellent job.

ellen mccoy: They were very helpful and knowledgeable. I had both curtains and upholstery done by them, and couldn’t be more pleased. They did an excellent job on an antique chair that I had had worked on twice before with poor results. This chair has great sentimental value for me so I was especially grateful for their expertise on this piece. I recommend them without reservation.

Ricardo Ramos: Their services such as upholstery, drapery and bedding is one of the best quality. Their customer service is very good and they pay attention to schedules, but it requires you to be not in a hurry, reason due to good work takes time. As a designer and also end user Madame and the staff have been my go to place anytime.

duane evans: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueI recently had three pieces of living room furniture upholstered and slip covers made for these pieces. The workmanship was top quality in all respects and the staff there were great. Would highly recommend Designers Work Room.

Wesley Grubb: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueExcellent Upholsterers who are professional and creative, and go above and beyond working with all sorts of materials - including Cowhide! Plus, they offer Military Discounts, and are great to work with. I highly recommend them!

Lowe's Home Improvement: what do users think?

Sassy Sauce: Great discounts on Christmas items as part of the holiday sale. I picked up Christmas stockings for under $5.00. There were fire pits on clearance as well. I like this location and they generally have the items I’m in need of for repairs or decorations, etc. The staff is very helpful as well.

Kev- keepingitreal: This location offers a variety of affordable items for your home improvement needs. I really appreciate the staff in the aisle for assisting me with finding items on my check list. At check out the cashier was welcoming and friendly. This store was very clean and offers plenty of parking.

Jessica Fullington: Today I went to the garden center for some outside plants. Yolanda was so very helpful! She was able to answer my questions, she even went and got me a cart so that it was easier for me to get the items I purchased to my car. It is so refreshing to have people who are pleasant and helpful at their jobs I will definitely come back to this location to get all the plants I need this spring! Marla was very helpful as well along with the young man who answered some of my questions about my plans. All around a wonderful experience!

goklt: Lots of materials here. Check out was fast. However good luck asking for assistance. Lots of associates are walking around but not helping customers. I tracked an employee down for assistance in moving materials from a high shelf to store level in the door section. He called two times for assistance to my aisle but no one came and he advised going to customer service. They called and still no help. Had to track somone down in a different department altogether. Crazy.

Chase Johnson: The employees here are courteous. But the wood cutting service they claim to offer is not available when needed. The store should just be candid that wood cutting won’t be available (or at the very least won’t be available at any specific time). I am a local DIYer (not a contractor). Before I bought wood I asked about cutting and was told it was no problem—buy it and then request a cut. I did. I was then told the lumber associate wasn’t available for an hour. I couldn’t get the wood (a single sheet of plywood I needed to cut in half) into my car, so I waited. After an hour, there was still no lumber associate, so the wood was never cut.

Annie Signorelli: I ordered a dishwasher with professional installation and the process from start to finish was completely nontransparent and unprofessional. The installation had to be rescheduled because the dishwasher wasn’t pulled down for pick up in time, and then when it was installed it was the incorrect dishwasher — not even the right brand. After several hours on the phone with the Lowes installation line, including being told multiple times that they couldn’t advance the process because they couldn’t get in touch with anyone at their own Lowes store, I called the store directly and was able to sort it out and get the installation rescheduled. A Lowes associate later told me that they don’t have the “luxury” of waiting on hold with the store which is what I had to do in order to ensure my order was completed. Finally the correct dishwasher was installed on the third attempt and I was told I could contact the installation line again to discuss compensation for the inconvenience. Again it took multiple attempts to even get an update on where my case stood, despite being told every time that I should expect a call back “by end of business” every day I called. When I finally got offered compensation it was for less than half of the amount I requested (I requested the installation service be refunded seeing as it took 3 attempts and I was the one having to set everything up because Lowes did not follow through). While I am satisfied with the product I am in disbelief at how difficult and unprofessional the process was with Lowes. I do not recommend purchasing appliances from installation from this store or using the Lowes installation services.
