D.C. Bouldering Project: what do users think?

Joshua Flowers: Great facility with very fun setting. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We went during morning hours so can’t speak to the crowds as there weren’t many people. The separation between the west and east sides of the building is a mild nuisance but nothing major. People need to learn to use their feet. One thing to be aware of is that routes are a little more low grade focused so if you find yourself in the v7+ range you may not have as many projects to work on, but again the setting was enjoyable. Overall great space and would be happy to call this my home gym if we moved to the DC area.

David Yaffe: Really nice facility, awesome sport climbing training section. The bouldering routes were lacking though and felt very cramped / too many traverses running into other problems. I wasn’t allowed to use my friend’s guest pass and had to pay $30 because he wasn’t around. At no other location is this the policy. I also had to wait 20 minutes before I could start bouldering to “learn how to fall” despite bouldering weekly for months and having been to other locations. I signed the waiver so let me climb!

India Lindsay: Great and convenient bouldering gym! Facilities are modern and clean. We looove the sauna. I’m new to bouldering so the intro class they offer free to members has made it a fun and easy new hobby to pick up. Even if going for general fitness, they offer a decent variety of yoga classes and the gym equipment is often available.

Hannah K.: The space is amazing, the routes are not. Having been bouldering in both Portland, OR and Seattle, I was expecting a similar experience. I visited multiple times, thinking maybe my disappointment was just because I was out of practice. But no, when I brought a friend with me who’d also been bouldering multiple times at a better place, they agreed, and affirmed my experience: the routes here are bad, at least, for shorter and lower-level climbers. It seems to be a case of the routes being more a text of strength and height than actually being a puzzle to solve. There is a *Massive* shift in grips that are used beyond only the lowest grade of routes, and many routes simply are not achievable for shorter people unless you are a significantly more experienced climber. Every time I’ve gone climbing here, both before and after the DC Bouldering Project acquisition, has left me feeling frustrated—and the more I realize this, the less interested I am in going back.

Jonathan Hull: I have a BKB membership in Chicago and decided to check this site out. Despite the strange setup (east and west bouldering walls on opposite ends of the gym), really enjoyed the routes and the variety of options. In terms of the A-G scale that others are complaining about, I personally enjoy it. It gets my head locked out of what I can or cannot do, and then it also gives me permission to just enjoy the climb and not be focused on the grade. I know other gyms that do a similar scaling method (of different levels including 2-3 V grades) do typically record a specific V grade for their books. Not sure how one could access that info though.

Movement Crystal City: what do users think?

V Lee: I used to climb here regularly before moving out of state and it is easily my favorite climbing gym I’ve been to. It’s massive with a huge variety of sport and bouldering routes that get updated consistently. I mostly bouldered so can’t speak too much for the sport climbing section, but in the bouldering area there was a great variety of different skill levels and often very creative and fun problems that got you thinking outside the box to work through them. There’s a huge gym area with fitness classes and a store for climbing gear and snacks. The staff is incredibly friendly and there’s a lovely community here. I found it very easy to make friends and find new people to climb with. There was a culture of helping each other figure things out and a sense of camaraderie. I miss everyone here dearly!

Ian Grossberg: Great selection of bouldering, I haven’t even gotten to try their large ropes section. Good exercise equipment, the folks that work there are very sweet, people who come are super chill, and they require everyone where masks, regardless of vaccine status, esp. with omicron now breaking through boostered folks this is such an important thing!

Norman Ng: Really big gym with bouldering area, top rope, and lead walls. most people are really nice there, and friendly. Problems are really well set. Currently the grading has quite the range. That being said , a lot of different style of climbs you can find within one grade.

Sportrock Climbing Center: what do users think?

Daniel Sweeney: Wife and I came in on a Sunday morning for a fun and active climb. We had a great experience, both with the staff and the facilities. Equipment was in good shape, and all of the walls were well kept. Our instructor was amazing, very relaxed and he never pushed us more than we wanted on the walls. The climbs are great and offer a ton of varying difficulty from never climbed to bouldering and clip in climbing. The 60ft walls are something to behold at first, some of the tallest on the east Coast. We did a 1.5 hr session, and were pretty tired by the end (roughly 5 climbs or so with a group of 3). Definitely will be coming back. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn to climb, or just have a fun and active afternoon!

Tatiana Russell: It was my second time ever climbing, and I was truly impressed with the facility! Super friendly staff, nice variety of climbs - they were busy on a weeknight but there was plenty of room and barely any wait times. Parking is sometimes tough in this industrial park lot. They offer summer camps for children, too.

Jon: I’ve been twice with my family for the beginner rock climbing course. The first class was with B and the second class was with young Xavier. We had a fantastic time both times. The staff and course instructors are very friendly and approachable. They do a good job of easing you in and they’re very patient, even if you’re scared of heights. We highly recommend anyone to go. If you’re lucky you might even get B or Xavier!

Aaron Tranquillo: Loved the gym it was great. Staff wasn’t helpful. We were new there and told the girl that checked us in. We paid and she said have fun. No intro or any questions about if we were bouldering, top roping, or leading. (We didn’t really care as we are experienced climbers so ok saves us time.). Then after about 10 climbs a guy asked us if we were top rope certified (obviously not as no one mentioned it) and told us no problem you can stop up front and do that quick. Guy at the desk told us we couldn’t do so because we didn’t do it at the very beginning? Gym 11/10, staff 2/10

Laura McPherson: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueFirst time and I did the 60 foot wall! Loved it - great instructors, lots of comraderie, physically and mentally challenging.

Alexis Hasty: Incredibly rude staff. As we were a foot away from the wall remapping a way up, two staff members walked up and one stepped directly in front of us and started climbing up. The male staffer told us to step back and give her space and when we said we were climbing that route, he responded “you can’t just take over a wall”. Completely inconsiderate given we were clearly starting that route (we were standing there for maybe 2 minutes or less). Afterwards, he resumed working. I really don’t think it’s appropriate to have that attitude and bah voir towards customers ESPECIALLY during your shift. I’ll go elsewhere, this place left a bad taste in our mouths.

Jeff Tong: Safe and a great place for fun rock climbing. They also have free yoga classes and a gym once in. The bathrooms are spacious with lockers and showers. The staff are super friendly. Overall, just an amazing place

Aaron Bouchey: Great routes, great walls, great vibes. Went in there to get a good work out and was impressed with the diversity the routsetters crafted. Standard work out area is a bit small, but offers everything you might need to get that pump going. Very creative and effective use of space.

Jay Park: This place is awesome! My son and his friend tried a kids climb class and they loved it. The staff were super friendly and helping me sign up the class with lots of care. The entire experience there was so great.

Joshua Bonner: Great gym. Great community. Reasonable prices and linked gyms. The routes were always interesting and the events were fun. My first experience climbing was at this gym and it stuck ever since!

Rose Sokol: Great place no matter what level you are. Learn to climb, find partners, or continue your growth. Free fitness and yoga classes for members! Really welcoming staff and members.

Sarah Alickovic (Raukowen): Absolutely fantastic indoor climbing gym. The staff are super friendly, the facilities are spotless and the trails are a bunch of fun.Would highly recommend 👍

ClimbZone Laurel: what do users think?

Safiya Parker: Good experience as an adult. We went Thursday around 1130 to avoid children traffic. Pretty much had the walls to ourselves. Got the hour and a half for $30 and I think it was the perfect amount of time. Did about 15 of the 75 walls cause I was going for orange/red stickers. I have one wall that I just couldn’t get that day so will return & I would bring a friend to try also.

beyondTabu: It’s an amazing experience for the kids. So many wall options that kept the kids going for 2 hrs without pause. There’s a small snack counter with drinks and lots of tables to eat or rest. We’ll def be back for more. The staff are nice and walk around to ensure everyone is having fun and being safe.

Robert Hoffman: This place was awesome. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Exceeded my expectations. The walls and ease of use was also surprising. After a few minutes, my kids were hooking themselves into the ropes. I always verified before i sent them up, but it was very convenient.

K D: Nice place for kids and adults. The walls are designed for inexperienced to experience climbers. There are a variety of walls to choose from. The the walls are nice and create a different experience for each climb.

T. Lynch: A great place for kids with a family atmosphere. This was our first time visiting and we had an enjoyable time..The staff was great and someone was always walking around willing to lend a helping hand.

Olga Chatfield: Great place. A lot of fun walls for climbing, nice space. My 5yo son loves it.

Shawn Henry: Very cool spot! Lots of variety in the climbing walls in both subject matter and difficulty level. Kids will have a blast.

Turner C: Huge fan of this place. Great workout plus great music! Threw a Birthday party here for our daughter. Plenty of fun for the whole family! Had a great time.

Vertical Rock Climbing & Fitness Center: what do users think?

Amanda Morrison: Began climbing outdoors in 2021 but when the weather got colder, we signed up here and have been coming ever since - love love love this gym! The space is clean, the staff are friendly, and the yoga class especially is a big draw for me - the instructors are wonderful. They also do fun events like Halloween. I do wish they had a larger gym equipment section but it’s nbd. Definitely would recommend

Matthew Brennan: Joined this gym December 2021 and it has been outstanding. Best decision and investment I have made in myself in a LONG TIME. The staff are great and the climbers are supportive and friendly. A great place to meet positive people and explore climbing. They also have yoga, Pilates, and meet-ups to learn the ropes and meet other members. They are opening a bouldering gym in Tyson’s Corner very soon so more excitement to come.

Brandy Rose: Very helpful and polite staff. Awesome climbs for top rope, lead and bouldering. Our whole family enjoys going there!

Dori Roberts Stewart: This place is a blast. We took our teenage son and I think the adults had just as much fun as the kids. We have been to several other rock climbing businesses and what was nice about this one was that we had a dedicated staff member that stayed with us the entire experience. I would recommend this place for both beginner and the experienced.

Eric Bischoff: Excellent guided, outdoor climbing experience. My son and I have been climbing at Vertical Rock Indoor Climbing Center for about 2 years, and recently we were able to climb outdoors for the first time through one of their guided trips (Great Falls, VA). Jovany is a personable, knowledgeable and professional guide which made the trip enjoyable and memorable.

Richard Krauss: Facility is TERRIBLE. 12-month membership is pricy and it is very hard to get ahold of anyone to cancel your memebership. Also, when purchasing I specifically asked the employee, "Does this membership expire after 12 months?" The response was "YES". However, I continued to be billed after my year commitment and it was very difficult to reach anyone to cancel my membership.

Rock Creek Trail Exercise Course: what do users think?

Brock Heller: I use the Rock Creek Exercise course often from living in the area. However, I always think it could use a lot of love considering the tax base in NW DC to pay for maintenance and imr. The outdoor equipment is old and often broken, the trail itself is too narrow, does not drain well, and is generally not super well maintained. However, it is beautiful, complete, and conveniently located. I give it high marks, I just wish it would get the love it deserves.

Jeff Daniels: Pleasant experience. Very nice trail to ride. Was disappointed when trail ended in DC as it was closed. Not sure if that section is considered Rock Creek Trail. I planned to ride to the Washington Monument.

Andrew C: A lot of nice equipment all in one place. Pull up bars and gymnastics rings are two pieces of equipment are great. Various benches are good for step ups or some other leg workout but they are super uncomfortable for their intended purpose (sit-ups).

Justus Hsu: Equipment is old or rotten (mostly wood and iron bars), but in COVID times what can you do?

Matthew Hartnett: Too many angry cyclists!!

Uriel Martinez: Great outdoor parkour area!!!

Kostadin Kushlev: Terrific place for outdoor exercise and #calisthenics

Anthony Bowen Branch YMCA: what do users think?

Forrest Cory: Beautiful YMCA neatly tucked in the heart of DC. Awesome Life Fitness, Hammer Strength and Cybex equipment, a rock wall, swimming pool and friendly staff and trainers. Parking isn’t too bad considering the area and there is a garage around the corner . Highly recommended!

Roxette Caba: Went today for a tour. The young man who gave me a tour was very nice. The women at the front disk was not friendly or welcome at all. The monthly fee is outrageous for the YMCA! $109/month?! The facility is nice but not worth that much! Plus the whole mission of the YMCA is to be affordable and community driven. Overall very disappointed. I’ve been a member of YMCA in Massachusetts all over and it’s not this expensive and unfriendly.

Andrew Jacobs: Echoing the poor front desk service. I called membership yesterday and they encouraged me to show up today for a tour and three-day guest pass. When I arrived the front desk was skeptical of my call, asked me who I spoke with, at what time, etc. They said there are no such thing as three day trial periods. They also told me they couldn’t bring me on a tour without an ID on me (which I didn’t have because I ran over to the gym from my apartment). I was immediately turned off — they missed out on a member!

Ana Marioni: Very poor customer service from the front desk. As a nationwide Y member for 4 years, I have never been treated with such disrespect. Extremely unprofessional and rude. Overall the gym is great besides the front desk receptionists.

Gigi Mathews: Great facility, location. Since pandemic the schedules/classes are in disarray - very few classes offered now are at the weirdest hours for anyone who works during the day. Thursday - Sunday, when most people are relatively free, they have the least amount of classes.

Andrei Jacobs: Well maintained but too small if you wanna get to a few pieces of equipment. Its a Nice community but smallish gym.

The Boulder Yard: what do users think?

Spartan 351: Very friendly staff who took their time to make sure we felt welcome! This was our first time and the staff and community were terrific!

jay collins: Freaking love this place. Atmosphere is very laid back. Very challenging routes. Awesome work out. People are very welcoming. No rude people. The only way they can improve this place is by having a bbq pit going. Hahahaha. Will definitely recommend the place to others and we will be coming back for sure, after I work out and get better so I can really enjoy the place to the fullest.

Jacob Nance: Fun climbs and friendly people. Bouldering only but new climbs almost every week keep it fresh

Robert Mandes: This is an independently owned gym not a franchise with a very helpful and knowledgeable staff, and great yoga instructors. My entire family has climbed here for almost a year and cannot get enough of it. A climbers gym with lots of equipment geared to help you become stronger. There are many excellent climbers here, but climbers of all levels are welcome and included in a fantastic community environment. The route setters create a wide variety of original routes that are changed often and are longer than what you see in other gyms.

Jonathan Baer: The staff couldn’t be more friendly, Steve and gang are extremely helpful and will even give you tips if they see ways you can improve. It’s a smaller gym, but the sense of community really makes it. There’s a nice, relaxed environment to climb for beginners and vets alike. New problems are created frequently enough to keep it feeling fresh but not too frequently that you can’t come back to conquer one that’s giving you trouble. Anyone interested in climbing really needs to check this place out!

Joanna Wright: We have been climbing at the Boulder Yard for a year! If you want a laid back gym with great routes that has a variety for everyone, you need to check this place out! Our son loved it so much after coming one time, he joined the competition youth climbing team. Amazing owners and awesome coaches!

Rock Creek Sports Club: what do users think?

Daniela Velasquez: I’ve been coming to RCSC for a little over a year now and it’s been the best fitness decision I’ve made thus far! From the front desk workers and personal trainers to custodial staff— they are extremely welcoming, professional, and respectful. I am also appreciative to have found a place that actually enforces their sanitizing regulations. Aside from the people, they have a wide variety of equipment to fulfill your fitness goals and is well maintained. *Updated review* Since the beginning of COVID to its most recent Omicron variant, RCSC has done a great job at enforcing rules such as updating their patrons via email with mask mandates and documentation of vaccination cards. They also continue to have disinfectant bottles, wipes, and towels in multiple spots throughout the gym. Last but not least is the real time capacity tracker through their website. For those who live a bit further, have a busy schedule, or simply want to save themselves a trip to the gym before realizing it’s a bit too packed (this has rarely happened to me by the way, but would occur at the commercialized gym I used to go to)… the real time tracker will be your best friend.

Felix Mazza: Been going here for years love the people and environment. Not like other gyms where people expect their weights to be picked up by an employee, people respect the gym and clean up after themselves. Staff is very friendly and always happy to give tips here and there. Not to mention has a great community lots of cool and encouraging people who will spot you anytime. Also the equipment is much better than most bigger gyms in the area, they don’t waste money on things that never get used and have cool stuff that a lot of other gyms I’ve seen do not. Would recommend RCSC to any prospective gym goers they’re worth the money and time.

Rob Gilpin: I’ve been a member for a few years. They take pride in keeping the facility clean. Throughout the covid-19 crisis the club has clearly communicated the expectation that members maintain a proper face covering at all times, I think the maturity level of the members has aided in this. Powerlifting friendly, with multiple platforms, squat racks, and benches. I have never paid for training services but the entire staff has always been congenial, and helpful.

Erin O'Hagan: Legit pilates classes, specialized range of group fitness classes and the best trainers!

Hinda'sMusic BACKUP: There is not ONE fitness trainer that is practicing what they preach and not only that, they will hate on you if you are doing your thing because it makes them look bad (especially the big stomach blonde haired ‘trainer’) watch out for that dude, he thinks he’s the coolest, will ask you to get off the machine you’re using, do everything except focus on his ab crunching, and is highly unprofessional in his demeanor. This place does not welcome people who ACTUALLY want to come and workout on an advanced level - it’s meant for stuck up people who want everyone to stay below average, so if you mix in well and never train consistently - this is the place for you.

Lydia Neher: The first thing that is great about this gym is the cleanliness. I have not been to another gym that is as clean as this one. The entire facility is spotless. I’m also very impressed with the type and quantity of equipment at this club. The basement has everything you need for weightlifting and powerlifting. This gym also has a great community feeling. The manager, Hadji is wonderful, knows everyone’s name and makes you feel very welcome. The other members are friendly and approachable. So much better than a chain gym!

Reach Climbing + Fitness: what do users think?

Niharika Katuwal: This is the coolest climbing gym I’ve been to! The facility is huge, clean, has great amenities, and super helpful staff. There’s plenty of routes for all levels of climbers.

Mike Tojos: Good facility for climbing. There was a good variety of options for different skill levels and abilities. The staff was friendly and helpful. The facility was clean and well-maintained. There are exercise machines available to use as well if you prefer not to climb. Parking could be a problem if you go during a busy time. Overall a good experience.

Malory Carberry: I absolutely love this gym. I was visiting my folks for an extended period of time and was so happy to have found Reach. There are other climbing gyms closer to my parents, but Reach was more than worth the drive. It is, by far, the best climbing gym I’ve been to in my decade of climbing all over the country. The staff was super helpful, the route setting was awesome and the amenities of both Reach and Factory were top notch. Now that I’m back in Chattanooga, I’ve found myself really missing this place. Get your butts in here and then go for a beer at Workhorse afterwards!

Robert Almy: My son and I joined Reach about 2 months ago and we are hooked. The facilities are top notch and the climbs change frequently so you’re not just doing the same stuff over and over. They have a gym so I can work out which allowed me to cancel my other gym membership. Parents night out is a cool option as well, drop the kids off and parents can have a few hours to themselves while the kids get tired out, have fun and make new friends. Most importantly my son has gained confidence in himself and that is a really cool thing to witness.

Henry Wadsworth: Reach is awesome! Me, my wife and daughter came in just for a single session of climbing. Unknowingly we got in on the early bird daily rate making it even more worth it for the 3 of us! It was pretty much empty in a Friday morning. Super clean, organized and well thought out. I will definitely come back when I visit Philly again. If I lived nearby I would undoubtedly become a member.

Josh Martin: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueAmazing staff. Very clean and well organized.

Ivonne Huertas: In P.A. for the Weekend with the family, we were looking to see what we could do. Came across this Rock Climbing Place. Let me tell you what an Experience! Very Nice helpful Staff & Clean Place. Will be back ! I recommend this place 👌

David L: A bit pricey for a day pass but great place to climb

Armando Valdez: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ValueVery clean rock climbing gym. Loved bouldering here. Definitely challenged me and was an upgrade to the gyms back in Jersey! Recommend this gym to anyone visiting PA!

Qiran Shang: One of the few highlights of my one-year-up-to-now quarantine time! We usually come two to three times a week. The place is absolutely amazing, always exciting, always clean. Routes are changed frequently. All kinds of events are featured every week. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. So many great great climbers around you. I will definitely miss it when I move back to town post-COVID.

Equinox Sports Club Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

David Gershman: Today I signed up and had a great experience. Mike, in membership, not only showed me around- they answered every question with full clarity, gave me far more insight than I expected, and was simply very nice and sweet. I knew I was going to get a membership going in, but it’s nice to get warmth and comfort instantly upon arrival. Felt like I was one of the regular folks

June Wade: Scheduled a spa massage for my friend’s birthday at the Ritz Carlton/ Equinox (Foggy Bottom) location. The staff was courteous and the gym was clean. I was disappointed the spa does not offer champagne or snacks for special occasions, instead we were given “swag bags” full of gym advertisements and trinkets. If you’re not a guest at the hotel, arriving early is highly recommended (parking, etc). Must walk outside to enter Equinox since elevator access to spa is for guest only. My massage therapist was (Donna) friendly, courteous but chatty. I was not interested in talking about where I live, hearing comments about my “poor”elbows🙄 or asking why my shoulders were so tight during my 80 minute massage. Unfortunately , the massage was not good (technique). Ambiance was fair in the room, there was no soothing music or waterfall fountains, just dim lights, and a cool quiet room. The warm bed with robes was a nice perk. Not a fan of the massage lotion (dry paste) used, she had to continuously spend time stepping away from the massage to reapply. I’m giving this spa 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️since my girlfriend had a positive experience with her masseuse. In addition, they provided a quiet space and champagne glasses for us to enjoy our BYOB champagne post massage. Would not recommend, lacks luxury for the price. $500+ ( 2 people)

TPMT Associates: Love it here as usual - they take care of the place and most importantly, the people who works out here take care of the place and is clean and tidy and doesn’t trash the place. As usual, it’s the people who come to gyms that are the messy/dirty and this place doesn’t have those ppl - not that I saw anyways!

John Heinemann: You get what you pay for. This gym doesn’t make sense for everyone, no one is a better person for going here, and a free gym in an apartment building is going to do 90% of what Equinox does. But the other 10%? I actually look forward to working out more when there’s both a sauna and a steam room, a saltwater pool, luxury bath products, memory foam floors for stretching, and refrigerators full of Eucalyptus infused face towels. I go for the amenities, and then I just decide to work out because I’m already there.

Gelila Sebhatu: I called to inquiry about membership packages and I found the sales rep, Erica, a little rude and she did not directly answer my questions, which was irritating. Based on the reviews here, I’m not surprised I received this type of experience. I guess I’ll be looking elsewhere. I just wanted a nearby pool 🏊‍♀️

Ebony Williams: Do not work at equinox if you have living situation or just a situation period the manger Duane don’t care if you have living situation problems he even told one of the employees that mid shift is childish because we all going through something sorry if you hired people who have living situation or who gave problems and be careful of the Towels and hand towels they wash them in hot water only no solution that why the towels look a little dirty Yess I use to work their and got fired because I was trying to find a place to stay the days I called out because I was homeless the cleaning manger is horrible at his job and HR needs to send a Secret Santana to see how they clean the place

The St. James: what do users think?

Ciara Long: A phenomenal facility to say the least! Our DC HBCU Alliance 5K was hosted here and I was truly impressed. Ample parking and the building exterior is beautiful but when you enter you see the gem that it truly is - areas for lacrosse, batting, wall climbing, weight and cardio training, saw there’s a water park as well as kid friendly areas as well. There were areas to shop with athletic gear including shoes plus a nice eatery. I’d love to come back on my own time and really experience The St. James for all it had to offer!

beyondTabu: It’s massive!! Everything from golf, swimming pool, basketball, ice hockey, football, restaurant, indoor play area, climbing gym, to an exercise gym. It’s a membership/ daily fee and it was pretty busy on a Saturday when we went to Super Awesome & Amazing indoor play. There’s also pretty good wifi in the entire complex.

Robert Christopher-Strayhorn: Incredible! Beautiful facility. Uniquely under a single roof, and great location for swimming, climbing, courts and fields, gymnast-ing, lifting, golf, ice skating, turf fielding, kid and adult parties, food and cocktails and more.

Marina Barchuk: Went on Thursday 3:30 pm ( they open at 3 pm -8pm ) told its 2 h waiting time , ok made reservations for 6 pm , when comeback was not busy at all and I paid for 2 h play time , VR was not working and computer area as well , and nobody know why . Then at 7: 30 ppl started to leave and employees started to cleaning up .so we left even dough paid till 8 pm . Place is ok I guess if you come yerly and make sure you make reservations.

Tabitha Walter: I have been a member of the St. James for 2 months now, and I can’t say enough good things about the place! The staff is super friendly and hospitable. The entire facility is clean. They are consistently cleaning while I work out. There are many options to choose from when it comes to fitness whether it’s machines, free weights, cardio, various classes, sports-related activities, etc. I’m never bored there. Plus, it’s very family friendly and the fees are affordable. I feel great every time I’m there. The St. James has truly renewed my desire to be healthy.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms - Wyncote: what do users think?

Nathan Runkel: This was my first experience rock climbing, and it couldn’t have gone better or been more enjoyable. From the second we walked through the door, Conner was so welcoming, helpful and informative, not just with the climbing techniques but also the facility itself. We will definitely be back and absolutely recommend.

Jade Tuff: Challenging and fun. This gym is great as a group team building outing or a solo hobby pursuit. I came here on an Intro to Climbing package and I ended up getting a membership because I loved it so much. Your two week trial allows you to visit and get a quick lesson on bouldering and top rope (two separate days) for $45. If you sign up for a monthly membership that same day, the $45 goes towards your first month of climbing and you get rental equipment. The wall grips change once a month, which keeps it fresh and challenging. I can’t wait to take some of their climbing classes on hand and foot placement for bouldering. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. The staff even wished me a happy birthday twice when I came in the day before and the day after my birthday when I checked in. Every single one of the staff members are always willing to answer questions and help. If you are thinking of trying this and are on the fence, just do it! I absolutely love this gym and I know you will too. Happy climbing!

Christina Harris: Came here for date night with a Groupon and had a blast. The staff explained everything quickly and ensured we were comfortable with the equipment then let us climb. The walls were all pretty challenging for a beginner. The East Falls location has a better variety of courses but this was a fun activity.

Connor McHugh: Amazing gym, friendly staff, great gym all around. I have been a member for 1 year now and I love it. Great atmosphere for new climbers! If you are interested in climbing you should come here. This is one of the most beginner friendly gyms I have been to. Great routes and great people.. all around great atmosphere!

Mike McMenamin: Varied, interesting route setting. Staff is thoughtful and helpful, they’re all friendly and take the time to learn your name. Always available with beta, shoe recommendations, general encouragement and fabulous vibes. What more could a climber ask for?

ClownFish Extreme: Very good place to visit if you like wall climbing people were friendly and the place is clean, I have to say this place is definitely hard to find even with Google map GPS.

Katie Huynh: first time going to another gym other than reach (home gym - have been to gv radnor but not when i was seriously into climbing). loved the outdoor style setting and the large variety of climbs. small but mighty with some stellar staff members. def worth checking out!

Jessica Braun: This. Place. Is. Awesome. The staff are so friendly and fun and truly create such a supportive and engaging community! Smaller than some other gyms I’ve been to but still has lead climbing, 30+ top rope routes, and multiple walls of bouldering including overhangs. They make a great effort to make sure everyone has a positive experience.

Movement Timonium (formerly Earth Treks Timonium): what do users think?

Marissa Lynch: Amazing staff. I called in to ask if my very active, two year old could come in to try to climb as he is always scaling furniture at home. Over the phone, the staff was informative, kind and encouraged me to bring my son in at let him explore. Within an hour my family and I were at the gym and greeted by the very person I spoke to on the phone. The other staff was very friendly and sweet with my son. Although he didn’t climb much, he had a blast and we look forward to returning

Edward Zarkowski: Its cool, my kid really is enjoying learning to climb. I kinda feel like if I am paying $25 for an hour ($100 per 4 week session) or so, she should get to climb more than twice a week. There are not enough coaches working the walls. In her last class there were 3 coaches (instead of 2) and one of them was sitting on the floor playing "telephone" and other games for $25 an hour. Why? There were 10 kids in that class... How are they supposed to get climbs in if coaches are sitting on the floor playing?

Tyler Ahlfeldt: Amazing gym and very welcoming community. My daughter (8) and I both climb there. My daughter has joined the climbing team. The coaches and staff are fantastic and really take their time with the members and kids. The people that climb there are also very kind and helpful. Everyone seems to be there to support everyone else. Definitely recommended for a one off fun experience or to become a member and enjoy the climbing lifestyle.

Joy Maz: Mia was so awesome & made my son’s drop in birthday session extra special. She was extremely patient and helpful. Employees like that make a business successful.

Judgment Day: The Good: Now, I have only been here once, but the experience was fun. The instructors were extremely nice and good at their jobs. There were a variety of climbing walls. The equipment all looked very well maintained. The Bad: I cannot think of anything. The Judgment: A fun place I would not mind going to again one day.

Kelvin the cloud: Recently had a group of 7 come in to climb for the first time. We where very well taken care of our instructors (Nina and grant) where very patient with us and definitely had a emphasis on safety and fun I will definitely be back

Andrea C. Morris: Small gym, but great, unique climbs for all levels. Wonderful staff as well!

Lerner Health and Wellness Center: what do users think?

Mikayla Betancourt: All the equipment is old, delapidated and worn out. Machines dont adjust. The gym is tiny, and mostly treadmills. There arent enough weights for more than 10 people to work out at a time. Its like a cave. MOST IMPORTANTLY, there are NO sanitary whipes. Disgusting.

Shaun Coles: Air conditioning doesn’t work in the summer time. This has been on going for the 5 years I’ve been a member. Broken equipment not serviced in a timely fashion, blue floor mats are disgusting....maybe this is why multiple ppl claimed to have contracted MRSA from this gym. I wipe everything down before i used it. The vending machines take your money without giving you anything. Their summer hours are terrible, you might as well find another gym. Summer hours 6:30am-11 closed from 11-3 and reopens from 3-8p. They are closed during holidays. At times they are closed for 1-2 weeks at a time (for annual maintenance and various reasons) however, your Membership fee is never prorated. I really dislike this gym for those reasons. They’re cheaper and better gyms around but Ive stayed this long because it’s convenient to work. My membership fee is $40

Jon Davis: Although the equipment at this gym is very respectable, it is insanely crowded. If you do not go during off hours, it may be pointless to workout, especially for people who focus primarily on free weights and machines.

erik miller: Excellent service, they get you in and out without wasting your time. I was surprised at how quickly they processed my information, and how courteous and professional everyone was during my entire visit. Thank you !!
