Chocolate Chocolate: what do users think?

Lou Costanza: The staff are super friendly. The store is very clean and even though it’s small, they have an amazing variety of classy chocolate. I really love the Washington Monument chocolates. They make unique and excellent gifts. Beautiful selection of Easter candy as well.
Response: Thank you so much for the lovely review, Lou! So happy you had a nice visit with us and hope to see you, again, soon! Warmly, the entire CC Team. P.S. - thanks for adding the awesome photo!!!

Sachiko Ueno: The Chocolate Chocolate is the oasis in the middle of DC. Every time we go there, we felt welcomed with the smiles and the hospitality of the owners. They have the varieties of the candies and chocolates and also they have seasonal items which usually are lovely! I ordered the chocolates a few times during the pandemic, and they delivered them so well. I am going to order more for my treats!
Response: Thanks so much for the 5 star review, Sachiko! It's always wonderful to see you & TJ at the shop! We hope you are well and safe during these trying times. And see you soon (hopefully!)!

Ravishankar Sivasubramaniam: Small chocolate store with excellent selection of classic European, eclectic and old fashioned chocolates.
Response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Ravishankar! We're a small local business and your kind words means the world to us!

Vanessa: I can't say enough good things about this shop and the wonderful owners! I've been going here for over 10 years and their chocolate and candy is amazing - especially the truffles - and an incredible selection. It's also a treat to chat with the owners!
Response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review, Vanessa! We love chatting with you and all our customers - you're part of the CC family! Hope to see you soon!

Judy Feigin: The selection is wonderful; the candy delicious; and the personnel delightful to deal with . We have given these chocolates as house gifts to friends both in D.C. and throughout the country. Everyone loves them.
Response: Thanks so much for your lovely review. Much appreciated, Judy!

ELM: I have been a Chocolate Chocolate customer and fan for decades and have recommended the store to many friends and acquaintances.Their chocolates can also be easily mail ordered. I send them to friends and family around the country. They have an incredible selection of chocolates, and also of other candy, including nut-free options! They truly seem to have "something for everyone." Their service is outstanding and friendly, and the store is immaculately clean. I simply can't say enough good things about Chocolate Chocolate! It's my favorite store in D.C...and maybe anywhere! :-)
Response: Thanks so much for the awesome review, ELM! So touched by your words. Thank you, again!!

Henry Banta: Entering Chocolate Chocolate is a great experience. It is on a lovely bit of Connecticut Avenue just across from the Mayflower. It is a small site of grace and elegance. It is run by two women who present class and charm to all customers whether they are buying a single piece or a large carton. The chocolate is beyond awesome. The wonderful taste will linger for the rest of the day. Its something one doesn't want to forget.
Response: Thanks for the beautiful review, Hank! We so enjoy your visits to the shop!

Carol Fox: I love this shop. The owners always have a kind, personal word when I make an order. The quality and variety of chocolate is excellent. My favorites are the buy by the pound choices. When we lived overseas, my husband would bring me something from this shop when he returned from a trip.
Response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review, Carol! So appreciate your kind words! Hope you are well and look forward to seeing you soon!

Brian Lewis: The best selection of gourmet chocolate in DC! The owners and staff are warm and friendly and treat their customers like family (one big happy family of chocolate lovers!). I placed an on-line order this morning knowing that my chocolate will arrive quickly and safely packed in ice!
Response: Thanks so much for your lovely review, Brian! Hope you are well and safe! Your chocolates will ship today! Hope to see you soon!

Tracy Pang: Beautiful space, excellent selection, and a phenomenal staff! I stopped in looking for a gift for some friends and experienced one of the best customer service experiences of my life. They have lots of nut free options and an array of products at every price point, in a wide array of flavors (Yuzu honey to chocolate covered Oreos). I could not recommend their products or the store more!!
Response: Hi Tracy! So touched by your review! It was a pleasure serving you today! Thank you for stopping by and making our day! Hope to see you again in the very near future!

The Chocolate House: what do users think?

Doug G: I love this little gem of a specialty chocolate shop. I visited just before Christmas and they had a full selection of truffles, holiday chocolate gifts, and an amazing array of bars. The staff really know their chocolates. They were helpful as always pointing out and describing options for 80%+ cocoa bars I was trying to find. And in selecting truffles for custom truffle boxes, including local chocolatiers! It is my go to place for special occasion gifts or treating myself to hard to find chocolates.
Response: Hi Doug, thanks for taking the time to leave this wonderful review and for your visit to our small shop! We truly enjoy helping people find their ideal chocolate - especially at the holidays. I hope you had a fun and delicious holiday! See you in the New Year!

Virginia Milius: I’ve been to right many chocolate shops and this one was just okay. They did have a decent selection. I always look to see if they have Icelandic chocolate bars and this place did. I took my time and selected a few items. I was surprised at my total but good chocolate is a little pricey. I enjoyed the curry coconut truffle and the lavender caramel chocolate. The other ones were kind of blah. The espresso bar was very tasty and the intense 95% dark with ginger was complex and truly unique. Loved it. Haven’t touched the pyramid yet but plan to next weekend. Staff member was friendly.
Response: Thanks for your review and for visiting, Virginia! I’m happy to hear that you found some chocolates you enjoyed. We hope to see you again soon and to help you find some more new favorites! -Marisol

Brian Hart: Fantastic chocolate shop with a wide selection of craft chocolate. I went in looking for chocolate made locally in the DC area. The worker quickly pointed me to exactly what I wanted. My wife loved the selection of bars I purchased for her!

Alek Cannan: Absolutely the best chocolates and truffles I’ve found in DC! Really an interesting variety of gourmet truffle flavors. This shop is great for gifts, or for a treat to yourself. We have signed up for their monthly subscription of one box of truffles per month. Very fun to try different kinds. The owners and staff are also very friendly. Highly recommended.
Response: Hi Alek, thanks for your kind review! We're glad that you enjoyed your truffle subscription. Hope to see you again soon in store:)

Todd Huntley: Anyone who enjoys gourmet, slave labor-free chocolate, knows that $2.50 per piece is actually on the inexpensive end. I travel from Philadelphia to visit this little shop at least twice a year. Highly recommend for it's friendly staff, variety and delicious handmade chocolates! Yum

Catharine Funk: We were looking for a place to kill some time while sigh seeing and waiting for our hockey game that evening and we ventured to the Chocolate house. First of all the lady working was very friendly and patient with us as we decided which truffles we wanted. I am familiar with products that are carried in this store as well because I carry them in the store I manage as well. Some of the truffles we got were raspberry, passion fruit, the coffee one, lemon, yuzu, and a few more. The raspberry was too tart for my boyfriend but I absolutely loved everyone that I ate. I highly recommend!

Hannah Seidel: Delicious chocolates and excellent vegan and dairy-free selection. Easy to work with for special events as well - we ordered a few hundred vegan truffles for our wedding and they were a huge hit!
Response: Hi Hannah, thanks for choosing your wedding chocolates from us! It's been a pleasure working with you. May the years ahead be filled with happiness and chocolates! :)

Viv C.: This cute little place is run by a sweet couple. Delicious chocolate. They even gave me a little ice pack after they learned that I would be under the sun for a while so that my chocolate wouldn’t melt. Will come back.

Shelby Burns: The Chocolate House is wonderful! I did a truffle making class and it was a great time. We learned a lot and the truffles were delicious. I highly recommend this class!
Response: Absolutely wonderful to hear you enjoyed our truffle making class, Shelby! We hope we get to see you in again soon to try our many bon bons and bars!

Christopher Woofter: Amazing chocolate choices from around the world make this shop very unique. The staff are super knowledgeable and take time with each customer. The merchandise is over priced or at least more costly than one would expect. Asking for a good dark chocolate bar without being too costly the sales associate offer us two bars at $10 and $12. These were modest sized. The one we bought was amazing but perhaps some more approachable wares might be worth adding. Great chocolate doesn’t have to be crazy expensive. The variety and shop set up was very clean and well organized.
Response: We're glad to hear you enjoyed our chocolate and had helpful service, Christopher! We hope to see you in again for another round of chocolate.

L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates: what do users think?

R Al-Dulaimi: Hands down the best hot chocolate. Also, their chocolate boxes make a great gift. They do not have WiFi in store, I had the intention of getting some work done while enjoying my hot chocolate in this cold weather, but they don’t have WiFi! I also liked their tea, I asked the man who was refilling the shelves there if they sell it, he regrettably said no but he got my friend and I a few tea bags.. very very kind of him!

India Lindsay: Delicious iced hot chocolate - captures the richness and full bodied flavor of a typical hot chocolate while offering a nice refreshing drink on a hot summers day. Store offers a wide selection, including handcrafted chocolates, gift boxes, and a variety of desserts and espresso drinks.

Gicela Saucedo: Order Chai Latte($7) and ($7)Spicy Chocolate. For my taste the chai latte was either too hot to taste anything or was tasteless by itself. The chocolate was good too sweet for my taste. A friend ordered a pastry and it tasted so good I wish that I had ordered that instead of drinks. They have hand made mouse 🐁 and they look so cute. Will return for pastry and outside vibes.

Tarek Ghaly: Best Hot chocolate ever , they have a variety of hot chocolate menu..milk,dark and spicy. They also have some bakeries and chocolate assortments. The quality is super, the staff is very friendly. The place is neat and the restrooms are clean and tidy

Allen Kinzalow: Lovely interior! The pastries and desserts were delicious and the espresso drinks paired well with everything. The employees were super friendly and nice too!

Dan Drago: Extremely high quality products and very friendly + helpful staff. Got the iced hot chocolate this time and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this place. First visited L.A. Burdick in Cambridge and Boston MA and this location was just as good, if not better.

Said Durrah: The drinking chocolate was average and the cake tasted like they had been in the case for weeks. Waiting 20 mins for it was below average. Before you wonder how busy they were - they weren't busy. They simply forgot we existed. After reminding them that we were waiting the lady behind the counter said "oh, they didn't bring it?". It was just her there in that section. There was not a "they" that simply forgot. She forgot but didn't want to take responsibility. It got worse. Then we asked where the cookies were that we ordered and after several minutes she came back and said "oh, we didn't ring you up for those" even though she told us as we were paying that we are going to wish we purchased more. Usually when a business screws up your order they give you the cookie. Literally would have cost them a dollar. Nope. They didn't. Sorry, I am not one of those types that just walks in to take pictures of what I buy for instagram. Did I mention they gave us both the wrong drink? Sorry they really dropped the ball.

Maxim Moroz: The quality of presentation exceeds the quality of the staff. Did not seem at all interested in working. Would not make eye contact and scoffed at us for not maintaining some sort of "social distancing". Being rude and losing 7 customers for some misinformed principals is just unfortunate.

Marta Lowe: I walked in a half hour before closing, but you couldn't tell from the service. Greeted by every employee in the shop, I received kind, warm, and expert help. There for a small gift for my daughter, I walked out with two single malt scotch caramels for my husband, a small caramel sampler for my daughter, and a chocolate cigar for myself. I'm going back tomorrow for coffee and a croissant. I had no cash and you can't leave a tip when you pay with credit (fix this please!). I literally walked a block to the ATM, got cash, and came back to provide a tip. They have coffee (prepared and bean/ground), tea, pastries, chocolates, and lots of knowledge and grace. I don't know who the employees are, but I was there Thursday night, March 3, 2022, right before closing. Thanks, gentlemen!

Hessa Al Maian: The hot chocolate was nice! Little overrated. The desserts looked promising and was impressed that they had detailed cards for allergies and food restrictions such as alcohol. The only thing that I could do a 5 star is that the location is a tight place and you will lose cellular service so it would be helpful if there was WIFI offered for customers

Neuhaus Belgian Chocolate Union Station: what do users think?

Dominic Giglio-Tos: Another great shopping experience was had here. The chocolates and wonderful, and the service was also excellent. The employees were happy to help us whenever we wanted anything and they were conversational. They also handled a particularly rude customer that was there with tact and patience. I can and will recommend getting your chocolates here!

Skye Smith: Absolutely wonderful experience! 10/10 would recommend.Service was next level, very informational, one on one attention to detail, and strictly customer based. Chocolate was excellent as well and made the perfect housewarming gift.

K Ak: It’s a SHAME that after years of coming into this store and buying their incredible product, I’ll have to say goodbye to them due to the WORST customer service I have EVER received. As I came back from traveling this morning (11.17.21), I walked into the store to get some chocolate. I was in the process of putting my mask on when the lady who works there YELLED at me and continued to do so as if I was some kind of criminal. I told her that I thought that the new mask mandate was already in place, but I was putting one on anyway (it was in my hands) when she continued to yell at me and shouted that I need to leave the store. If you hate your job-quit. This is not how you talk to people. I’ve never experienced such a rude behavior. I’ve seen the owners and the previous staff and they were incredible. However this lady just ruined the experience of it all. So be aware. In any case, there’s a different store next door where they know how to talk to the customers.

Annie S: This is real although outrageously priced chocolate from Belgium. I suggest paying special attention to promotions, never refusing to taste what is offered and come visit this shop at Easter and Christmas. The Easter chocolate eggs are the best thing ever.

Jaye Aster Broder: Neuhaus has great chocolate. The staff is friendly and the packaging is great for gifts. You should definitely try it at least once. Now that it’s in D.C, you don’t even have to travel to Belgium.
Response: Thank you! We pride ourselves in providing freshly imported Belgian Chocolate. Stop by and see us again soon. Have a sweet day!

Karla Ledesma: The best chocolate and the person who attend us was very kind and sweet. Thank you so much!

Steve Perry: This place has some of the Worlds best Chocolate! I would give them 5 stars but the location in Union Station just plain sucks! Hard to get there unless you are already going to the station! The chocolate covered cherries are to die for though! I bought some and they were so good that they didn’t even make it home! Luckily I bought more than one box! If you love chocolate and you don’t mind paying a little more you will love this place! If your on a tight budget, you may want to stick with the lesser stores! This one is top shelf!

Linda Bagby: I received the Lovely Mother trio gift box today from my son Tim and wife Susie. These candies are pieces of art! So pretty and very yummy! Absolutely love them!!! Thank you!

Megan Connell: The most amazing customer service I have ever encountered, and such great chocolate. The staff is polite, kind, and helpful. My most recent visit left me smiling the rest of my commute home because of how wonderfully they treated me and the excellent product I knew I received.
Response: Hi Meghan! Thanks for your kind words! Stop by and see us again!

Giovanna Pino: Located on the main floor of Union Station Train Station I was craving some chocolates. I always purchase their pre-packed boxes prior to leaving an airport in Europe but I'm always stuck with flavors I don't like eating. Anyways took a drive out there and was greated by a lovely staff member and manager of the store. They were very patient and let us taste test the chocolates to prior. I was almost a little shocked at how many pieces we were allowed to taste but that's probably why I left with a 16 count box of chocolate and a bar of dark chocolate with Sicilian orange peel. Anyways I wanted to focus mostly on their service - was really refreshing and welcoming and obviously their chocolates are amazing!
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us. Have a sweet day!

Chocolate Moose: what do users think?

Ann Morse: This eclectic shop never fails to inspire me for unique gifts. The staff go above and beyond to help. Thanks for the ideas today! Longtime customer, first time reviewer.

Neal Brenner: Awesome store with a wide variety of gifts, cards, chocolate and so much more. Cannot stop laughing while you are there as there are so many funny gifts. A must if you are in DC!

Avery Jones: Looking for a fun gift or hilarious card? Do you find New Yorker cartoons hilarious and political jokes always in season? This is the place! I always go there for the best cards for my friends and family (big selection), and they always have amazing little joke gifts, as well as creative and nice gift options for people that are hard to buy for.

Deb Kasunic: We've been shopping at the Chocolate Moose for almost 3 decades. Why are you closed? If it's because you're considered a "non-essential" business, then I need an explanation for Walmart and Target. We sincerely miss everything about this store, especially the hand-made fabulous chocolates!

Dianne Downs: If you like funny, quirky cards and cute unique gifts this is the place for you! The Chocolate Moose serves up deliciously sly humor along side some of the best Belgian chocolate you'll ever get your hands on outside of Belgium. Come in and enjoy shopping in the kind of store that's rare these days - a happiness store.

Arthur Zayden: I go here for my event planning needs, balloons, bulk candies and decorations. Great prices and the place is very organized, costumer service is amazing. Employees have a great product knowledge of all the items they carry. If I can give more than 4 I will give them a 10 star!!!

Brionne Griffin: This place is trying to do too much. While I'm sure there could possibly be a way to juggle a chocolate shop, a card section, a jewelry section, a travel section, and little trinkets all under one small roof in an elegant way, this place feels like a very fragmented experience. I feel like the only time I'd buy something here is if I was searching for a white elephant gift.

Sandy Carroll: Love this shop! It's been around for a long time and has everything you don't need. Quality fun stuff. Great for little gifts.

Melanie Kurimchak: I work nearby, so I've been to the Moose several times since I wrote my first, very clipped review. I do think this is still THE place to buy nick-nacks and silly greeting cards. If you need a white elephant gift, this is the place to come. However, I've been less than impressed with the attitude of the staff in my last couple visits. I went in and bought an Enviro-Sac bag a while back. The girl at the check out counter asked if I wanted a bag. I giggled, since the only thing I was buying was a bag. "Uh, no I don't want a bag for my bag..." She was not amused. Not sure how you can work in a place like this and not have a sense of humor, but apparently it's possible. On another trip, I asked about a particular Christmas tree ornament that was hanging on a display. I wanted to buy it and it was the last one in the store, so one of the employees went to the back to get the box for it. By the time she got back with the box, I had changed my mind and chosen a different ornament. How could I resist? This place will give anyone ADD. I apologized to her and said that I'd changed my mind and wanted to go with another one and she rolled her eyes as she all but slammed the ornament (in its box) back on to the display. Again, it's a fun place to come because of the product on the shelves, but don't expect stellar customer service (or even a smile) when you do.

Lara Ruth Ziobro: I love this store. It's perfect for finding politically incorrect or hysterical (depending on your leaning here) charged cards that are just about perfect and en pointe in the DC metro area. I love that you can get anything from Bush "dum gum" to make your own legwarmer kits at this store. This is one of my favorite places to hit for odds and ends to send to that person you want to know you're thinking of them for a special occasion but they seem to have everything under the sun they could possibly need. Chances are they won't need what you'll find, but they'll love it!

Bethesda Chocolates: what do users think?

Wendy Moody: I drive by Bethesda Chocolates every day on my way to work and I finally had the opportunity to stop by this sweet spot to grab a Chia Latte, where I was struck by the warm ambiance, friendly the service, and the unexpected variety of house-made confections and hot beverages! I ended up sitting inside relaxing in their chocolate-colored leather club chairs for almost an hour. It’s quaint, quiet, and cozy – the perfect place to chill with a book and coffee in hand! Bethesda Chocolates has certainly gained another happy customer! #SupportSmallBusinesses

Elena Hernandez: I like the chocolate they have in this store it so good. They even have dark chocolate for people who have allergies watch is a good thing for me. Also they people are so friendly and welcoming. I also find vegan strawberries too watch is wondering. Is hard to find. I know people don’t like this place but I was happy with my Oder.

Kitchen Boy: A true hidden gem in Bethesda. For the second year in a row I purchased chocolate for my wife for valentine's. The handmade truffles are great, especially presented in the edible made from chocolate gift box. The chocolate shoe is another great idea - both eye-catching and delicious. The Cafe portion is also good. I enjoyed the excellent Chai latte on one of my visits. If you love quality handmade chocolate, you need to visit Bethesda Chocolate.

Albert Chang: I visited this store after I finished my visit to Maryland Stamps and Coins which is located across the street. I had not eaten lunch, so I ordered a large mocha latte and a box of chocolates for my sister. The latte was delicious, and the staff was delightful. The latte was made with the chocolate sauce made at the store. I will be back.

Brandon Cribbs: Let me start by saying that I have had many chocolates in and out of the U.S. These were some of the best chocolates I have ever had. Are they expensive......yes. Are they worth it......yes, yes, yes! I have not been impressed by chocolates in quite a long time. My wife is also very happy we got them. We each got 6 chocolates. Every single one was amazing. Perfect blend of flavor with the chocolate, without being too sweet. The chocolate itself also has a great flavor by itself. Aniah was super friendly, and helpful. After getting some coffees and chocolates, we were on our way. If you are anywhere near this place, you must stop in and get some of their chocolates. The coffee was not bad either.

Ed Kosakowsky: Very friendly. Chocolate looked amazing but I was there for coffee in the AM

Fred Richardson: We really enjoyed a hot chocolate, cappuccino and a few chocolates from the case. Very friendly person working here - wonderful place to buy gifts.

Francis Yoon: I am not a chocolate expert but i must say the chocolates here were delicious!!! I got a Hazelnut truffle, Pumpkin spice truffle and some chocolate crisp(i dont remember the name but it was recommended) all amazing!

Deena H: Truffles are phenomenal! Plus they separate all the peanut items from the rest of the items; very much appreciated from an allergy sufferer. Also, CHOCOLATE SHOES!

Brian Roome: Decent chocolates, maybe a bit overpriced for quality, but still good.

The Capital Candy Jar: what do users think?

t mac: A nice around the corner on Capitol Hill if your into different chocolate. Just step away from the metro and bus route. Yes they serve ice cream too. A chill spot if your not doing anything and just want to get out the house and do a little exercise and want a sweet treat for you, the kids and even the your furry kids.
Response: Thanks for taking the time to write a review.

Jeff P: Neighborhood spot for ice cream, candy, and fudge. There are a few picnic tables with umbrellas outside now, which is great. They also make District branded chocolates. I've seen these around town but I believe they make a lot if not all of them here. Service is friendly and they generally have samples.

Don Robinson: Always loved this place and they have great candy!
Response: Hi Don thanks for the review and for being a customer. We appreciate your business.

Cory Matthews: They have ICE CREAM!!! Great snacks and treats for gifts and more! Truffles, chocolats dipped pretzels, gummy treats and more. Did I mention they have ICE CREAM!!! Pictures to come, but the special flavor was amazing!!!
Response: Thanks Cory. We appreciate the review.

Temmeka Moore: Man these truffles are everything!! Butter Pecan Truffles are a must. So are the Lemon ans Champagne. I live in Richmond and go here one a month for my fix. If you don’t know then you must embark on this place. Nice gentleman in there too who is pleasant and sweet.
Response: Thank you so much!

leo v: Great truffles and more, but the ice cream is to die for in this tiny shop with a quaint neighborhood vibe. The ice cream is from South Mountain Creamery, a local small organic dairy farm near Frederick MD about an hour from DC and thanks to Candy Jar, it's available right here in the city. If I'm going to be bad, it better be worth it. At The Capital Candy Jar, it is and then some!
Response: Thank you for your kind review.

Randall Thacker: I LOVE taking these candies home to family in other parts of the country as gifts because they love receiving them. A great variety of uniquely DC oriented candies. Especially love the cherry blossom ones! This is the next Georgetown Cupcake - where when you are in DC you MUST buy one!

Ashley Vicos: Capital Candy Jar is a MUST Stop Location when visiting the DC area!!! It’s a tantalizing trip for everyone in your group & your taste buds won’t be disappointed!!! It’s hard to find locations that create all of the edible goodies by hand & take time to perfect each delicious morsel!!! The customer service is top notch & the owner is hands on & brings such a personal aspect to the entire business, you’re sure to feel right at home in this high class establishment!!! Will always be on my to do list when traveling!!! ❤️

Jacquelyne Nelson: I'm new to the area and stumbled upon this place by chance. It's a cute spot that sells coffee, baked goods, and house made candies and chocolates. I tried a milk chocolate truffle, a blondie, and a chocolate covered marshmallow with caramel. The marshmallow was by far my favorite ( the make their own) and I can't wait to go back and try other treats.
Response: Thanks Jacquelyne! We're so glad you like the chocolate caramel cloud. It's one of our favorite candies as well.

Austin Graff: The Capital Candy Jar is one of the few businesses in Hill East. Located at 15th St and Constitution St NE, it's a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. They have been around for years but crafting locally made candies out of Union Kitchen in Ivy City. Fast forward to now, they have graduated from Union Kitchen and have made it as a company opening this permanent location where they make and sell their candies. The store is spacious with several corners of all of their candies from chocolate covered pretzel sticks to marshmallows. I recommend the milk chocolate covered Oreos. In addition to candies, they sell baked goods to satisfy any sweet tooth but they also have a few savory pastries like mushroom, garlic, and cheese muffins. They also sell coffee from Zekes, a local roastery. They aren't any seats, but I think it's meant to be a come and go place.
Response: Thanks for stopping by. We're glad you're a fan of the chocolate covered Oreos. We love them too!

Kilwins Chocolate & Ice Cream: what do users think?

Mark Orebiyi: I was able to go to Kilwins the with my friends visiting from Boston and his sister. We went to blue jacket right down the road for dinner and said is this something sweet. As soon as you walk in you get hit with the smell of fine chocolate and ice cream. Can't lie, I haven't have ice cream like this in a while. My friends we pretty impressed. I will be back. It's was awesome to try the samples as well.
Response: Mark, We are happy to hear your out of town friends and you enjoyed our ice cream. We look forward to having you visit again.

Daniel Sweeney: Really nice candy, fudge, ice cream shop. Reminds you of the fudge stores on a boardwalk down the shore. Employees always very friendly and offer samples to try. Definitely pop in, there's bound to be something sweet here that will catch your eye (Carmel apples, dark chocolate pretzels, dipped marshmallows etc.)
Response: Hey Daniel, Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a great review. We are happy to really bring some great memories out. We look forward to making your day again!

KhanSerai: Good ice cream - well flavored so you could enjoy what you were eating - coconut had plenty of roasted coconut in it, pistachio was chock full of nuts. Very friendly service.

Njeri Jarvis: Absolute BEST caramel apples with peanuts!!! This is the best dessert ever. I am biased because this my favorite dessert. But, as a result, I know good ones when I taste them. The apples are always crisp with the perfect amount of sour. This is VERY important. Theirs is always right. I could eat them daily!!!! Yum!!!

abrar saeed: The best ice cream shop and the waffle is fresh they made it in the store also the ice cream it was so good 👍🏻
Response: Abrar, Thank you for the review! We are glad to hear you enjoyed one of our waffle cones and ice cream. We look forward to seeing you again.

Michael Bean: Good selection and delicious sweets. We walked in and they were handmaking waffle cones and it smelled amazing. It was a super pricey for what we got. Mine was $8 for a root beer float (a can of A&W root beer and a scoop of ice cream) but it was still very tasty.

Michelle: Deeply weird experience in which I specifically asked for only one scoop (I like Kilwin's but it's overly sweet and I can only handle one scoop before it gets to be too much), and the girl behind the counter adds three despite me telling her "that's enough" repeatedly. Okay fine, whatever, but then she literally says out loud "it's by weight" which to me implies she... did it on purpose to overcharge me???
Response: Michelle, Thank you for choosing to stop by Kilwins, we are happy to hear how much you enjoy our ice cream. We measure the weight of all of our scoops to ensure that customers are receiving the full portion. Sometimes customers do receive a little extra when we are scooping. This however does not increase the price, as we have standard set prices for the scoops. We would like to invite you back for another scoop on us next time you are in the Navy Yard. Please send us an email(washington-halfstreet@kilwins.com) to arrange and with any other questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you again! Andy Hopkins

Fa Duenjuta S.: If you are an icecream lover give them a try. I love their icecream texture and perfect level of sweetness for me.
Response: Hey Fa Duenjuta, Thank you for stopping and we are glad you enjoyed our ice cream. We will see you again!

Catherine N: We were very excited to see this location open. We loved going to the ones in St Augustine, FL and this one held up to expectations. The staff was nice and helpful with ice cream selection. The store was clean and smelled amazing (waffle cones and fudge). Will be making regular visits!
Response: Hey Catherine, We are glad to be in the neighboordhood and look forward to seeing you often! Thank you for the kind review.

Vlad: Good ice cream. The only down side is that they don't have many interesting flavors besides the classics.

Schakolad Chocolate Factory - Crystal City: what do users think?

Beth Donnelly: Schakolad Chocolate factory is AMAZING! I have had the good fortune to work with HK and the folks at the shop and can't sing their praises highly enough. I have been purchasing chocolate from her for years. Recently they did all the favors for my wedding which included 80 chocolate 3 dimensional replica's of the Capitol Dome (dark, milk and white chocolate) as well as 40 chocolate bars in the shape of the white house and 150 chocolate truffles for my guests. In prior years they have done branded chocolates for my business clients. They can do highly personalized chocolates in a variety of shapes and molds in addition to their standard selection. They are a women owned small business located in the heart of Crystal City. I highly recommend them!

Katie Goodchild: Awesome family run store with really good selection of chocolates. They have vegan/dairy free options.Definitely recommend. The women who owns the store is very nice.

Samantha Bailey: Ordered chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels for my someone special who is local to this shop on Valentines day. The staff was so helpful as I tried to order her something perfect over the phone and setting up to have it surprise delivered. When the hotel had a mix up, the lady I spoke with was so helpful in finding where the gift went and making sure it got to her. Living nearly 9 hours away, had it not been for her help, it would've been a loss. My girlfriend loved it and said they were delicious! Would definitely recommend ❤
Response: Thank you Samantha! We're so glad we could make your Valentine's Day special. Look forward to hearing from you again!

Mark Blanchard: Super friendly staff, and good truffles. My favorite thing to get is the dark chocolate orange peels - they're delicious! Only reason it's not 5 stars is the limited hours, and the location is tough to find.

Brayden Lodter: The staff was superbly diligent and helpful, and seemed to have a lot of fun interacting with customers - myself included - even despite being extremely busy during the Valentine’s Day rush. The chocolates are superb, with truly original flavors, and comparable to - if not better than - chocolate straight from Europe. These chocolates make for a fantastic gift, and I highly recommend them for anyone looking to surprise their loved ones with a delicious treat!

Lyba Khan: One of the best chocolates I’ve had. We got a box of choclates for Mother’s Day, and my mom and My family really enjoyed them. The owner is extremely sweet, I could not find the story and I was searching for it for about 30 minutes. The owner personally came out and guided me to her store. In all my life, I’ve never met a owner like that. She is very hardworking and very friendly. I would highly recommend this store. Her chocolates are not only delicious, there are sold at a reasonable price. I got to create my own box with 15 pieces of chocolate for only $18. Please visit this store and support the owner and her amazing chocolates.

Aivy League: The lady there was SO KIND. Gave my friend and I some samples and told us about how they hand make their chocolates there. They have AMAZING gift options. I'm telling you, the got all the military chocolate coins, CHOCOLATE MINI PIANOS!!!! You can customize a chocolate box for a significant other. So many options and great great quality. I highly reccomend stopping by and getting your gifts here for people that love chocolate. 10/10

Sarah Nimitz: I absolutely adore this shop. It's run by a mother and her daughters, and they are the sweetest people! I have come in regularly for holidays, departing co-workers, birthdays, pick-me-ups, any excuse I can find. They even have chocolate EGAs for Marine Corps birthdays! My go-to gifts are of course the chocolate truffles, of which they have a huge variety and adorable packaging, but their shaped chocolates are the best I've seen. They have sincere and serious gifts (a giant key reading "you're the key to my heart", an edible chocolate box filled with truffles that reads "happy birthday") to fun gag gifts (last year for Christmas my family received a set of chocolate dentures and a toothbrush) and just the straight up impressive (chocolate gingerbread houses, cornucopias for Thanksgiving, and an entirely accurate life-sized 1911 pistol!). Seasonally they'll have chocolate covered strawberries, and they have a selection of sugar-free chocolates. They have something for everyone whether you're going in there for a box of chocolates, a two-pound chocolate Santa, or just want to grab a chocolate rose to let someone know you're thinking of them. I cannot recommend this shop enough- do yourself the favor of stopping by.
Response: Hi Sarah!! I'm so sorry, I don't exactly know who you are, but I'm sure I would recognize you if I saw your face. Thank you so so much for the amazing review. Really. It's customers like you who motivate us to keep going. I'm so glad you've always had a good time when visiting. That's what it's all about and we can only hope to continue making people happy. You've gone above and beyond with this review and please let us know that you're the "sarah" who wrote it so we can thank you in person. It means so much! Thanks again.

Shirley S: Fantastic Chocolate shop with handmade treats. Great quality and unique products. These are always a hit as gifts, and the owner is very nice and helpful. They even take special orders for events like baby showers. I love small businesses and this place is one I always stop by if it's on the way or for occasions. Thank you!

Simon Baxter: I love this location. They have the most awesome chocolates shaped in various designs, including the DC Monuments, various profession gift boxes - handcuffs and badge for cops, stuff related to nursing, judges, doctors, at cetera. And although you have to sometimes call for them when you come in because they are busy making chocolate, it is definitely worth the stop in for almost anything that you could think of.

Artisan Confections: what do users think?

Gia Pham: these chocolates are amazingly delicious!! i love it. a lot of different variety of chocolate flavors. the customers services there are great also. everyone is super sweet and very friendly and super helpful too! i definitely will come back soon if I want to more chocolate. 100% recommend

Bridget: I received a box of chocolates as a birthday gift and was amazed! Not only are the chocolates beautiful, but they taste great too. I'm allergic to nuts and don't normally eat these types of chocolates out of fear of cross contamination; Artisan Confections did a great job of making sure each chocolate was nut free. I can't wait to visit in person and order more. The Tahitian Vanilla Bean, Cinnamon Apple Caramel, and Lavender were a few of my favorites. Highly recommend!

Mia Smith: I haven’t tried their chocolate yet. I got this box as a present for a friend. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They make their chocolate right there in their little factory behind the store. If you’re looking for gifts, I highly recommend Artisan Confections.

Michael Drillings: Their chocolates are magnificent. My wife and I eat them slowly because each bite should be savored. I have eaten a lot of chocolate in my life, including in Europe, and this is by far the best I have ever had. Enjoy!!

Vivian Hwa: Been getting their chocolates for years. Did a class once, it was a blast. Caramels are awesome... Well everything is awesome really. Worth every penny. Some of the best chocolate in the world and I have eaten a lot of fancy expensive chocolate from many countries that aren't as good.

Marnie Schaar: I bought 20 boxes for my clients on Valentine’s Day and they were a hit! Beautifully made chocolates and very delicious. I highly recommend Artisan Confections.

rustyhues: This place has the best, most satisfying chocolates I've had in a really long time. Their flavor profiles are top notch...salty caramels and realistic fruits and herbs (Fresh Mint is so uplifting, liquor caramels are sublime). They're small, but not micro. These chocolates are all you need when you have a craving...without adding all the extra calorie-heavy stuff. Plus, they're so pretty :)

Pawel Garczynski: So happy we gave Artisan Confections are try. Shipping was super quick, the chocolates were beautifully packaged, it was the perfect gift! Will be using for more gifts in the future :)

david oremland: The chocolates from Artisan Confections are among the most appreciated gifts one could give. Good reason for that. The chocolates are extraordinary. As a gift they come gift boxed and wrapped in a beautiful setting. But my advise is eat them first before giving them as a gift. They are that good.

Sam Russell: definitely in my top 2 for chocolatiers in the NOVA/DC area. They use vahlrhonna chocolate as the base for their truffles- which is my favorite. They always have a good selection of flavors that has both variety and appeal, plus they have seasonal flavors so I always feel like I have more to look forward the next time I get some. I hands down recommend their caramels (not in the truffle case) and their Tahitian vanilla truffle. Delicious!

Arcay Chocolates: what do users think?

Meet Miss Sallyy: Joined a recent compass and Arcay co-organized zoom chocolate tasting event w/ a nice selection of black gold drops 💧. I love Basil, passion fruit and other fruity flavors… I am also amazed by the self- educated chocolatier’s knowledge on her productions… what a memorable experience. I would love to join one of their classes. :D so fun. Would love to visit Annabella in person soon.

Mandy M: I decided on getting a 6 piece box of truffles and I was really impressed by the beautiful glossy appearance of each and the flavors were incredibly rich and creamy. I did find the price point a little high, the total was $17.75 for 6 so just shy of $3 each. It was definitely worth trying once!

Jen Hawse: Delightful and decedent. Bought them for Valentine's day and loved the variety I could choose from. Came quickly, as I had them shipped. Will be ordering again for a friend's upcoming birthday!
Response: Thank you, Jen!! You will be very Welcome!

John McClamy: Anabella is amazing!!! I asked her to make a birthday cake for me and now it’s the talk of my birthday. A friendly person whose love for life is experienced through her chocolates. You have a gift!!!

Lyanne Colon Santos: This was the most unique experience I've ever had tasting chocolates. Dario was extremely welcoming and friendly. My favorite was passion fruit and coffee/rum.
Response: Thank you Lyanne. We are so happy that you liked the Truffles!! We hope to see you soon!!

Claudia Nunes: Loove their chocolates!! I’ve had them shipped a couple of times to give as gifts and they arrived super fast. Make sure you try the passion fruit and crunchy almond truffles!

Yolanda Hamzaoui: The most amazing chocolate experience. Total out of body. Anabella the creator owner is SOOO kind and sweet, more than her chocolates, which is saying a lot. Each chocolate has its own personality. I haven't tried them all but I will :-) If YOU haven't tried them, go ahead and make that special trip. It's worth it.
Response: My dear Yolanda, so glad to meet you. Thank for your kind words. Have a beautiful holiday times. XOXO!!! Anabella

Sara Garzia: First time visiting. Ended up buying 3 boxes so I could take some home to Florida as gifts. Everyone loved them. I will be back when I come back to Washington.
Response: Thank you, Sara! We are so glad that you liked the chocolates!! Be warm welcome again!

t L: Delightful chocolates and very friendly staff! It's hard to find innovative chocolate flavors. I can find dark chocolate and sea salt anywhere, but not flavors like: blackberry cardamom, lemon basil, rosemary and sea salt, tamarind, and cherry blossom. All very delicious and I'll be coming back here before my trip is over.

Alejandra Willson: The BEST chocolates I’ve ever tasted!!! The place is beautiful and literally every flavor is amazing. These are perfect for birthdays and dinner invitations, as a present or for an event and their packaging is sooo cute. I always buy here and ive always had a great experience overall.

Petite Soeur: what do users think?

Sonya Shannon: Lux gourmet hand made chocolates in Georgetown. What a treat. A beautiful creation but even more important is the immense flavor packed inside every piece. The passion fruit filled piece is layered and is like biting into a passion fruit tart with a white chocolate crust. The Dar chocolate buttered Carmel filled piece is truly delectable. I picked the 4 piece box with the 12 piece of espresso flavored butter cookies. Yum!

Rachael Romano-Joseph: I was able to stop in during the soft opening right before the holidays. The owner was friendly and helpful. I got a small box of bon bons to give as a gift and a large box to share with family over the holidays. They were a big hit, the passion fruit white chocolate was the crowd favorite. I will definitely be returning to for future gifts and sweet treats.

Donatella D’Antonini: The most exquisitely beautiful and delicious chocolates I’ve ever had! These gorgeous and scrumptious chocolates are perfect hostess gifts, bridesmaids goodies, gift for your sweetheart, mother, or just yourself. The outsides are beautiful and the insides are bursting with fresh, liquid flavor. Excellent all around.

Catie Miller: We discovered this gem during a beer + bonbon pairing hosted by craft beer cellar (another great establishment). This is hands down the best chocolate bonbons we have ever had. May have ruined other chocolate for us. Despite this, no regrets! Go get yourself some today

Caroline Wilcox: Didn't even buy a chocolate (they were sold out), but I had the best interaction with the owner. We had seen the shop on Instagram and were curious, so we poked in. Got the cutest mug, and had a brief but mood-boosting chat with the owner. Will have to come back for the bon bons, which look delicious.

Katherine Gandy: Absolutely delicious! 8 of the 9 flavors my mom and I tried were fantastic (the almond & jelly was a bit boring), and I wish I'd gotten a second box regardless. Looking forward to visiting their "official" shop after the grand opening!

Natalie Bamdad Baruch: These chocolates taste great and look beautiful. I got one of each bonbon that was in stock and I loved all of them. So, so good!

Caroline Carlson: Great service! I was rushing to get home for a family event and stopped by the shop to see if my order was ready. The owner graciously told me she would complete the order today and drop it off at my house! Went above and beyond.

Janice Alder: So good! And so gorgeous! Bought the hand painted chocolates for my mother's birthday today and they were amazing. Bought cookies and caramels for myself -- also amazing!

Mason Ferguson: I was initially surprised that another chocolatier would open so close to the famous La Burdick chocolate a few doors down. I am a long-time fan of La Burdick so I was a bit skeptical. However, Petite Soeur blew me away. They specialize in bon bons and their Sable cookies and both are INCREDIBLE. I first tried the Maple Walnut bon bon recommended by the owner herself. While this would not have been the initial chocolate I'd choose, holy cow. It was outstanding. The quality of the chocolates reminds me a lot of Stick with me Sweets in NYC. I immediately bought two 4-packs for gifts for Christmas and just returned yesterday to buy some for myself. La Burdick definitely has competition now and I would argue that Petite Soeur is winning!

Yolanda Jacobs: House of CHOCOLATES is a must for any local or visitor to the Nations Capitol. It’s stunning display of international sweets will have you feeling like you’ve traveled the world to discover them. Wether dark, milk, with nuts, without nuts, chewy or tangy, you’re certain to find something that delicious.

Shy Nair: Oh my the store is beautiful. I just wolfed down 9 confections in one sitting. Bought a box for a client and it looks like a piece of art!

Brian S: So good!!! I bought these for a friend for her birthday. The presentation is so beautiful she didn't want to open them. They taste even better than they look. June and her staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I drove an hour to pick these up and will happily do it again. Highly recommended!

Elaina Kimes: I really want to like this business, but they seem to not care for their customers/potential customers. I have been waiting on a box of sweets for 2 months. They just don't seem like a reliable business, especially if you potentially need something delivered in a timely manner. I hate writing bad reviews, but come on!

Jeremy Suttenberg: Forget Godiva's, this is the place to go to in Washington DC for chocolate and the most delicious sweets. Some of the best treats I've ever had. And friendly service.

Kenisha Mitchell: Mary, Joesph, and Jesus the best chocolate hands down I ever tried in my whole life.

Michael Cho: Glad we found this place because we used to have to order online and wait a few days. The quality of the chocolate is excellent. I cannot say enough good things about the staff here. They were very nice and really made the purchase experience great. Will be back again!

Dawn Meyers: My love of Neuhaus started 20 years ago in Belgium. Any time I am near a shop here in the states, I must stop! First visit to this location and can't say enough good things about the exceptional staff and the always delicious chocolates!

Ori M: One of THE BEST chocolate places ever. Great customer service; the employees were very nice and told great jokes. Also the chocolate is good. That too. Jk the chocolate was so freaking good. Amazing.

Hilda Kroll: The trip to the Neuhaus shop today was like a pilgrimage. There are good chocolates you can buy that cost less, but surviving this past year calls for a special treat.

Jacob: I came here for the first time today and had a wonderful experience with the people and chocolate. Kim helped me search for a birthday gift for my partner and was very knowledgeable on all of the different types of products. She was very friendly and made shopping in the store an enjoyable time.

Chris Nicoletti: Best chocolate anywhere in the world is neuhaus chocolate

1 1: I had a great experience with Camilo who was patient and informative. He explained to me the differences in pralines--mousse, ganache, praline (with an accent), gianduja, etc. Thanks for the superb customer service!

Bryan Riley: Good chocolate great staff!!

R L: I absolutely love Nuehaus chocolates! So happy I found a shop so close by.

Chesapeake Chocolates: what do users think?

Dennis Wijers: If you want to support a local Northern Virginia shop, look no further. It was great to taste locally made sweets and stray from the regular chocolate brands we see everyday. The variety of treats are delightful and they don't skimp on stuffing the truffles with tasty fillings. For the finer audience, they also have a wide selection of local wines along with tastings throughout the month.
Response: Thank you, Dennis!

Peter Clarkson: Stale Chocolates. The quality has dropped from what used to be nice fresh chocolates. 2 days after Mother's Day, when they should been fresh, we bought a box. When opened, there was no lustre just a dull finish on the outside. The coating was dry and stale as was the center ganache. Taste was thin, not rich as before. It is a pity they their namesake product has deteriorated so much. (PS: did not bother driving back to get an exchange.)

Danielle W: Great selection of local Virginia wine which is specially delivered to their shop. Also very good chocolates especially the Carmel ones. Handmade soaps are good as well. They also sell blue crab ceramics and some lake/water themed house decor.
Response: Thank you Danielle! Saturday is "Open a Bottle of Virginia Wine Day", so stop by if you need one to open and enjoy.

D Carl: it's not a happy place, especially for being a chocolate shop. I've been to the store several times , and on all but one occasion, there has been a lot of verbal and written lecturing about what you can and cannot do in the store. This is not limited to masks. if you go in, note the signs as well as the behaviors. You are being talked down to. Not pleasant. I will only go there now as a last resort to mail packages if I cannot get to the post office.

Sam Russell: Enjoyed the store with a variety of local VA items, but mainly went there for the chocolate and was disappointed. It was great that the saleswoman knew about the chocolates and could share details with us and the price is quite good for handmade chocolates (we got 5 pieces in a bag for $5.02- so just about $1 per piece), but it shows in the taste- which for me is the main component :( The barks are better than their truffles, but neither are special (hate to say that as I love supporting local chocolatiers). I travel the world enjoying artisan/craft chocolates and truffles, so my tastes are possibly a bit different than yours. As such don't let me steer you away from getting a few pieces as they're not expensive, but there are much better chocolates in the area from other local chocolatiers.

Lane Boyd: The chocolate and wine selection is really great! I've enjoyed everything that I've tasted from this spot. They relegate the chocolate mostly to one side of the store, and I wish it were more spread about. The cashier was marginally unpleasant and made me a little uncomfortable. Maybe a bad day? I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt because it was quite busy and social distancing was hard.

Charlotte Geary: My kids and I love Chesapeake Chocolates! Doris and the rest of the staff are so kind and welcoming to us. The chocolate is delicious, and they always have adorable, seasonal chocolates for every occasion. The shop is a great place to buy gifts, too, with an excellent selection of Virginia wines and handmade crafts.

Ruth Sievers: Hand made chocolates made in small batches are the main draw here, but the store also sells jewelry, scarves, cards, wine and other gift items. Lovely little place. And the chocolate is delicious. I almost forgot: there is a Post Office inside the store.

Linda S (LindaS): Excellent chocolates. Also love the spiced grape wine served warm. The entrance to Chesapeake Chocolates is on the lake side of the plaza. Got a lot of my Christmas shopping done there in a matter of minutes.

T. Parker Gallagher: Fantastic chocolates, locally owned, friendly and does custom orders, quickly. I am a 5year, 4-6 times per year, repeat customer. Doris is top notch!
Response: Thanks so much!
