The Chocolate House: what do users think?

Doug G: I love this little gem of a specialty chocolate shop. I visited just before Christmas and they had a full selection of truffles, holiday chocolate gifts, and an amazing array of bars. The staff really know their chocolates. They were helpful as always pointing out and describing options for 80%+ cocoa bars I was trying to find. And in selecting truffles for custom truffle boxes, including local chocolatiers! It is my go to place for special occasion gifts or treating myself to hard to find chocolates.

Virginia Milius: I’ve been to right many chocolate shops and this one was just okay. They did have a decent selection. I always look to see if they have Icelandic chocolate bars and this place did. I took my time and selected a few items. I was surprised at my total but good chocolate is a little pricey. I enjoyed the curry coconut truffle and the lavender caramel chocolate. The other ones were kind of blah. The espresso bar was very tasty and the intense 95% dark with ginger was complex and truly unique. Loved it. Haven’t touched the pyramid yet but plan to next weekend. Staff member was friendly.

Brian Hart: Fantastic chocolate shop with a wide selection of craft chocolate. I went in looking for chocolate made locally in the DC area. The worker quickly pointed me to exactly what I wanted. My wife loved the selection of bars I purchased for her!

Alek Cannan: Absolutely the best chocolates and truffles I’ve found in DC! Really an interesting variety of gourmet truffle flavors. This shop is great for gifts, or for a treat to yourself. We have signed up for their monthly subscription of one box of truffles per month. Very fun to try different kinds. The owners and staff are also very friendly. Highly recommended.

Catharine Funk: We were looking for a place to kill some time while sigh seeing and waiting for our hockey game that evening and we ventured to the Chocolate house. First of all the lady working was very friendly and patient with us as we decided which truffles we wanted. I am familiar with products that are carried in this store as well because I carry them in the store I manage as well. Some of the truffles we got were raspberry, passion fruit, the coffee one, lemon, yuzu, and a few more. The raspberry was too tart for my boyfriend but I absolutely loved everyone that I ate. I highly recommend!

Hannah Seidel: Delicious chocolates and excellent vegan and dairy-free selection. Easy to work with for special events as well - we ordered a few hundred vegan truffles for our wedding and they were a huge hit!

Viv C.: This cute little place is run by a sweet couple. Delicious chocolate. They even gave me a little ice pack after they learned that I would be under the sun for a while so that my chocolate wouldn’t melt. Will come back.

Shelby Burns: The Chocolate House is wonderful! I did a truffle making class and it was a great time. We learned a lot and the truffles were delicious. I highly recommend this class!

Christopher Woofter: Amazing chocolate choices from around the world make this shop very unique. The staff are super knowledgeable and take time with each customer. The merchandise is over priced or at least more costly than one would expect. Asking for a good dark chocolate bar without being too costly the sales associate offer us two bars at $10 and $12. These were modest sized. The one we bought was amazing but perhaps some more approachable wares might be worth adding. Great chocolate doesn’t have to be crazy expensive. The variety and shop set up was very clean and well organized.

Arcay Chocolates: what do users think?

Meet Miss Sallyy: Joined a recent compass and Arcay co-organized zoom chocolate tasting event w/ a nice selection of black gold drops 💧. I love Basil, passion fruit and other fruity flavors… I am also amazed by the self- educated chocolatier’s knowledge on her productions… what a memorable experience. I would love to join one of their classes. :D so fun. Would love to visit Annabella in person soon.

Mandy M: I decided on getting a 6 piece box of truffles and I was really impressed by the beautiful glossy appearance of each and the flavors were incredibly rich and creamy. I did find the price point a little high, the total was $17.75 for 6 so just shy of $3 each. It was definitely worth trying once!

John McClamy: Anabella is amazing!!! I asked her to make a birthday cake for me and now it’s the talk of my birthday. A friendly person whose love for life is experienced through her chocolates. You have a gift!!!

Claudia Nunes: Loove their chocolates!! I’ve had them shipped a couple of times to give as gifts and they arrived super fast. Make sure you try the passion fruit and crunchy almond truffles!

Sara Garzia: First time visiting. Ended up buying 3 boxes so I could take some home to Florida as gifts. Everyone loved them. I will be back when I come back to Washington.

Alejandra Willson: The BEST chocolates I’ve ever tasted!!! The place is beautiful and literally every flavor is amazing. These are perfect for birthdays and dinner invitations, as a present or for an event and their packaging is sooo cute. I always buy here and ive always had a great experience overall.

Mangia DC Food Tours: what do users think?

Mo Wakefield: We went on the Georgetown Foodie Tour yesterday and it was great. Marsha was an excellent tour guide and was very knowledgeable about Georgetown history and the food we tried. I’ve been on other food tours where you have tastes/samples at a number of places. This one was different because we only went to 4 places -but had a full serving of the food we were tasting. It was wonderful really getting to experience the food - and ended up needed a bag to take leftovers!! We’ll definitely do a Mangia Tour again- can’t wait for the Italian tour!

Karen McIntosh: Love love loved our Mangia DC Food Tour! Really enjoyed the restaurant choices and the stories behind them. The food was plentiful and delicious. McKendrey was a fantastic tour guide - fun, friendly, knowledgeable! Highly recommend!

Dawn Matthews: We had the best time today, touring Georgetown’s gorgeous streets with our incredibly personable and knowledgeable hosts McEndrey and Dave! The peroski and veggie taco were the bomb! Loved seeing Julia Child’s home in this gorgeous area of DC.

Heather Wasson: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ValueWe did the Georgetown Foodie tour. I really liked the smaller group size. It was very informative and Shannon, the tour guide, kept us engaged. It was the perfect balance of learning, walking, socializing, and eating. The food choices were so yummy! We’re local (from MD) and still learned so much. Highly recommended!

Butch Gaddy: We had a great time with Marsha. She’s a very knowledgeable guide. The food was good and so many points of Georgetown history and interest. Great way to spend an afternoon!

J Shedd: Fun facts and tasty afternoon exploring Georgetown, McKendree was friendly and is clearly a big fan of her city. Come hungry, you gets lots of food (and good vegetarian options). Thumbs up!

Cozymeal Cooking Classes: what do users think?

D H: I had my Cozymeal event today. I have never participated in an online cooking class before, and I must say it was great! My daughter and I took the class making the Chinese dumplings with Chef Li. Chef Li was great and while making the recipes really gave good information on the Chinese culture and the different types of substitutions to use in the event you are not able to get a specific ingredient. She made suggestions regarding kitchen utensils and made sure that all of us were on track with her during her instruction. My only difficulty was with the recipes being in grams and not in US measurements. It would be nice to have both listed. I live in a very rural area and this option of online cooking classes is such a welcome experience. I would definitely take another class!!

Theano Kampani: Really enjoyed having Chef Greg cook for my husband and me. Great food, and great conversation! We highly recommend Chef Greg and his Spanish dishes. The star of the menu was the dessert for us :)

T. C.: Amazing ! Very nice evening with the chef Boby, evening that we will not forget soon! The menu was delicious and it was a beautiful moment of culinary sharing with the chef. To be repeated!

Benjamin Bowden: Really enjoyed having Chef Tiffany cook for my girlfriend and me. Great food, great conversation, and a generally excellent evening. One note: she arrived 45 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time, when nobody was home. Her early arrival was a positive, as the meal took a few hours to prepare, but Cozymeal should communicate better with the clients about true arrival time. Bottom line: Tiffany provided an excellent French meal, all cooked from scratch, with fresh ingredients. Moreover, there were leftovers! Really looking forward to my next Cozymeal experience.

Niki Holmes: We had an amazing experience with Chef Judith. Her recipes were easy; we had great company; and the Chef taught us some very useful techniques. --Plus--The food tasted so delicious!

Valerie Damond: Last night twelve members of my family experienced a truly remarkable Spanish dinner. Chef Greg presented us with a very relaxing and utterly delicious meal. Every course was beautifully displayed and clearly constructed with the best ingredients. He and his helper served us and left the kitchen immaculate. If you would like to experience an expertly crafted Spanish cuisine, I highly recommend Chef Greg.

Kathleen Norwood: This was a wonderful experience. Chef Gustavo was a delightful host and instructor He shared knife and preparation tips as well as the history of the food. The food was muy rico and we came away with many tips to make prep easier and food tastier for making a yummy paella as well as other dishes. Chef Gustavo created a welcoming, warm and relaxed evening. Thank you, Chef Gutavo!

Alison Ponzi: We had an evening full of freshly made pasta, bruschetta, and bread pudding with Chef Tiffany. I bought a KitchenAid mixer last year with the pasta attachment, and she was open to teaching me how to use it. She also worked with us on our likes/dislikes allowing us to choose a different appetizer. All in all it was a successful night with great food, company, and conversation.

Jake: This was an amazing experience. Chef Gustavo was the consummate host and instructor! He shared knife and preparation tips with us in addition to showing us how to cook an amazing 4-course meal. The food was superb and he was a great entertainer as well. Thanks so much Chef! We look forward to coming back!

Chesapeake Chocolates: what do users think?

Danielle W: Great selection of local Virginia wine which is specially delivered to their shop. Also very good chocolates especially the Carmel ones. Handmade soaps are good as well. They also sell blue crab ceramics and some lake/water themed house decor.

Charlotte Geary: My kids and I love Chesapeake Chocolates! Doris and the rest of the staff are so kind and welcoming to us. The chocolate is delicious, and they always have adorable, seasonal chocolates for every occasion. The shop is a great place to buy gifts, too, with an excellent selection of Virginia wines and handmade crafts.

Ruth Sievers: Hand made chocolates made in small batches are the main draw here, but the store also sells jewelry, scarves, cards, wine and other gift items. Lovely little place. And the chocolate is delicious. I almost forgot: there is a Post Office inside the store.

Linda S (LindaS): Excellent chocolates. Also love the spiced grape wine served warm. The entrance to Chesapeake Chocolates is on the lake side of the plaza. Got a lot of my Christmas shopping done there in a matter of minutes.

T. Parker Gallagher: Fantastic chocolates, locally owned, friendly and does custom orders, quickly. I am a 5year, 4-6 times per year, repeat customer. Doris is top notch!

River-Sea Chocolates Factory: what do users think?

Laura Spriggs Gray: We reserved a chocolate tour and tasting at River-sea where they make all of their chocolate from bean to bar. The tour was fun and informative and Eli really knows his stuff having worked in every part of the chocolate production. We got to sample raw cocoa beans and freshly roasted unprocessed cocoa beans as well as all of their top selling bars. These chocolates are fabulous and highly eco conscious. Stop by for a taste and a tour you will not be disappointed!

Amy Benjamin: Wonderful chocolate shop! My friends and I did a chocolate-bar making class. We got to hear about how the shop makes their own chocolate from the beans and we tried their milk chocolate and dark chocolate. For the chocolate bars, we added in all sorts of toppings like graham crackers, marshmallows, nuts, dried fruit, etc. It was so fun and everything was delicious!

Brian Via: Wonderful little chocolate shop/bakery. Their tasting was fantastic and the hot chocolate is delicious. Rebecca did an amazing job leading a tasting and mini tour and the owners were very nice as well 😁

Tatiana Russell: A must sea! Hidden gem of an artisan, locally owned chocolate factory - they offer kid tours (that grown adults enjoy just as much) and tastings, as well as an impressive selection of organic, vegan, less sugar treats. They import their chocolate beans from Brazil, Columbia, Tanzania and all over the world. Both kids and adults in our group appreciated the factory tour and it was so fun learning how chocolate is made and getting to participate in the process! They also offer hot chocolate bombs and out of this world hot chocolate 🍫

C Hawkins: This place, River-Sea Chocolates Factory, is wonderful and a must visit location. We even got to enjoy vegan treats among their many non-vegan items. The chocolate bar was WOW to say the least. Learning that the products are bought up by sail vice a motor vessel is incredible as it reduces the carbon footprint on getting the goods here for us to enjoy. See the photo about Brigantes Shipping and being a member of the Sail Cargo Alliance. How neat it is to know that wonderful products use the power of sail to move from one place to another which is keeping the old school nautical skill alive and well. We really enjoyed the treats while visiting River-Sea Chocolates Factory and wish you the very same tasty experience.

Samantha McInerney: I attended a tasting and tour today and LOVED the whole experience. It was so interesting to learn about the company and the whole process they go through to make this amazing chocolate. The staff members were very knowledgeable and very passionate and we really enjoyed our afternoon there. Of course we bought more chocolate to take home too!

Umber Aggarwal: We had an awesome time during the chocolate tasting at River-Sea. Our tour guide, Eli, was absolutely amazing and extremely knowledgeable. Eli kept us entertained the entire time as we learned in great detail about the chocolate making process. My wife and I tasted numerous dark, milk, and white chocolates and truly appreciated learning how to do a proper chocolate tasting. The chocolate itself was made of very few ingredients, yet everything was very tasty - much better than the large brands. My wife and I really did not know what to expect but we were extremely impressed by the tour. We highly recommend it!

S.: My wife and I enjoyed ourselves very much. The associates working there were very courteous and professional. We definitely have a greater appreciation to the process of making chocolate now. We tried 7 different kinds of chocolate from all around the world which was very insightful. We also bought some bars for ourselves, and definitely will let other know about them.

Sprinkles Georgetown: what do users think?

Shanice Stewart: I absolutely love their salted caramel cupcakes! I’m not a big fan of the rainbow sprinkle cupcakes, because they are not fun to chew. Every time I go from here on out, I will order half a dozen salted caramel cupcakes because they are the best! Great Customer Service!

chelsea gadiano: It was busy but the line goes fast because of the convenient iPad ordering system. The staff were very friendly and order comes really quick! The cupcakes are soooo good! We got red velvet and lemon blueberry! My husband and I loved it! Their cream cheese frosting is the best! Cupcakes are so moist and delicious! Packaging is super cute!

K S: 10/10 experience!!! I loved the contactless payment, good covid protocols and the amazing moist cupcakes. I’ve only had sprinkles a few times at birthday parties and I decided to go there on my own; one of the best cupcake stores in DC! The staff is superb and the cupcakes come out efficiently!

McKenzie Taylor: Decided to try Sprinkles after seeing the line (+ reviews mentioning unfriendly service) at Georgetown Cupcakes) and was not disappointed! The staff at Sprinkles was incredibly friendly and ordering couldn’t have been easier. There were a few customers ahead of me but the kiosks allowed for quick, simple ordering. The red velvet cupcakes were great but the pumpkin was my favorite!

Keli Wright: I always enjoy going to Sprinkles. I went right before they closed and there was no line, a lot of cupcakes were sold out but still a great selection. I have brought lots of people here too.

Stephanie Corte: I’ve been a Sprinkles fan for many years now. The red velvet cupcakes are my very favorite dessert. The cream cheese frosting knocks it out of the park every time. They are just absolutely delicious cupcakes. I recommend becoming a rewards members if you live near a Sprinkles location. I frequently get a free cupcake. This place is definitely worth a visit if you have never been.

Carrie Crowther: My favorite cupcake spot in DC! They’re so light and not overly sweet. Definitely in for a treat, and you don’t have to wait in a long line. My usual go to’s are red velvet, banana, and dark chocolate!

YOUNG-i The GOD: Great service, hot and prompt food. I tried the clam chowder and salad. It was my first time trying clam chowder and it was pretty good. I also asked to swap the regular salad with the mix greens (no croutons). Everything tasted fresh. Also had a margarita and the sugar free cheesecake. Really surprised at how good that sugar free cheesecake was! Also, our waitress Brittany was excellent and attentive.

Eric Olkewicz: I had a great experience here. We were able to make a reservation and got seated right away without having to wait, on a Saturday night. Our Servers name was Colby and he was great! He was attentive to our needs and frequently checked up on us to see how we were doing. The food itself was delicious, as it always is. Love the bread especially. I highly recommend going here.

trickynic303: Excellent service! Followed DC Health Mandate to show proof of vaccination to eat inside.

Meet Miss Sallyy: Their food in this location is not as good as the one in Bethesda. I used to be a big fan of Cheesecake Factory.

Chanpen Tee: Food is delicious. The staff is nice.

Jasmine Ramos: On 2/15/22 me and my fiancé were having a day in DC and we had a lovely server named Anna, kind and humorous. Brought everything in good time even though she had another table she made sure to take care of everyone, good place for a quick lunch enjoyed everything food was amazing and Anna was too! Thank you Anna :)
