Albert Wu: Reviewers say the garage for car return for this location is unusual, unclear, and without clear signage. I have to return a car here and I have never been at this location. I called them several times to inquire, and every time I was put on hold for a long time and then automatically disconnected by their phone system. If they were so busy to answer calls, they should at least have good direction on where and how exactly to return a car on their website or somehow actively provided to customers. This is disappointing. I did return a car at this location, and I found out why nobody and answered the phone. Apparently the location was seriously understaffed. The office on the street corner was closed although lights were on. On every window a sign indicated customers had to go to an underground garage in an adjacent building on the back. To find that out, I had to park the car somewhere and visit the branch office. Their was no notifications of the temporary arrangement from the airport Enterprise where I had picked up the car. I drove to the entrance of the garage. There were two Enterprise signs on either side of the entrance but one sign was covered by another sign. The other sign was covered by two parking lot staff chatting at the entrance. Moreover that sign actually pointed into the alley beside the garage entrance. It’s a misdirecting sign. The lone Enterprise staff inside the cramped garage was courteous. However, the car return experience was unsatisfactory because of the bad driving directions.

maggie ahern: I had the most wonderful experience at this location. Alex was super friendly and so helpful. I came in, loaded the rental car, and left within 10 minutes. He even upgraded me to a beautiful convertible Mustang. This is now my go to spot for rentals in DC!

Rebecca Schussler: This was my first time using this location. It wasn’t confusing at all, Enterprise also sent me a helpful email a few days prior to my rental, explaining where to go upon arrival. The team was super helpful (huge shoutout to the Auburn alum - War Eagle!) and I was on the road in no time. Drop off was equally easy, again the staff was super helpful and had me on my way quickly. 10/10 would use this location again.

David Fox: I booked a rental for one week, beginning on a Saturday. I would realize later that a Saturday pick-up at this location was a mistake. I intended to pick up my vehicle at 1 pm, but the location closes at noon. So the online system will let you book your rental beginning on Saturday, but if you're not there to pick it up by noon, you're not getting your car. I had to cancel the entire reservation and book the rental with Budget (which has normal working hours on Saturdays). My suggestion for Enterprise is to either maintain normal working hours on Saturdays, or don't allow any pick-ups/drop-offs on this day

Artistik Artistik: When booking a train trip into town, the branch near Union Station had previously told me there was no availability at their location for the date in question, so I chose this branch instead. I reserved a car, and was told one would be available when I arrived. However, when I arrived, the office was closed (at 3:05 PM, and I was never notified that my pickup time was AFTER their normal hours of operation) and there was a note attached to the door stating that renters should walk to a parking garage a block away. When I got to the parking garage, it was sealed up with no one in sight. I called the number on the garage wall, and spoke to a VERY unhelpful staff member of the Residence Inn under which the garage was located who refused to open the door or provide any information other than to give me the number for the office, which they didn’t seem to care when I told them it was closed. I was left stranded in Downtown Washington DC on a hot day with my elderly disabled mother having to walk several blocks with me while I tried to contact this office. Eventually, I had to resort to an Uber (which cost me nearly the amount of the rental itself) to get my mother and I to the hotel just in time to make her only granddaughter’s wedding. I was even told by a helpful local that this Enterprise Rent-A-Car has a reputation as being “the bad one,” and that the one in Georgetown was far superior. Despite the fact that I left them two messages, they never contacted me back today to apologize or even explain why they left me without a car. It is so sad that this company, which I have found to usually be reliable and professional, has a branch like this one that sucks so bad at customer service that the locals know about it and spread the word to avoid it. If this is how they treat their renters, I would not be surprised to see them shuttered very soon. Utter garbage fire of a shop.

Benjamin Douglas: I reserved two cars, one online and another by telephone, which the company later told me were not actually available. When I did wind up getting a car it had about 3/4 of a tank, which I did my best to match when returning but they still charged me for refueling. The employees were all cordial and respectful and great but I don't like it when a company offers to sell you something that they don't have.

Andres Norena: False advertising!!! Made reservations on same day and this store and agent Will had the practice of forcing a paid upgrade with such under false advertising, which is completely wrong and unethical. I have rented dozens of times with other companies and I this is the only time instead of doing the right thing for not having the correct car and upgrading at no cost, the agent played games and forced me to pay extra when I could hear on the radio he had the same level I reserved. Made me go outside to look at the car he wanted me to take and if I didn’t, he was going to make me wait 40 minutes once I confronted him that heard that he had the car level I reserved. On top of that, when I call to report, they had no interest about the issue or the practice, so I guess it’s their way to make extra money, so had no interest about this or in listening about the poor condition this car was, I attach just a few pictures. Clearly this car wasn’t disinfected or cleaned, which is terrible during Covid times.

richard roman: Be ready to wait at least 1-hour for your car. Also, bring a coat if it’s winter because you’ll have to wait in a long line outside. Very, Very Poor management - only 1 worker during the holiday season.

Milen Dinkov: The most unbelievable experience at this place... I arrived at the scene of 5 different Avis Preferred members who all had apparently made reservations days (some weeks) ahead, waiting in line outside the office in the cold rain, none of them with umbrellas… for hours!! “We don’t have cars, please step outside and wait until called” would be all they say. I asked to speak to the manager - “not available”. I asked them to let the people without umbrellas in - “not possible, they can go in the garage” was the answer. How is this place allowed to exist?!?! Appalling! Avis - at a min please fire that manager asap, or better - close this office down. Forgot to mention - I never ended up getting a car from this place that day. I have two 5-month-old babies and had reserved a full size car. After waiting for an hour in the cold rain, my turn finally came. The rep begrudgingly offered to help me after my earlier expressed frustration at the silent idiocy that was taking place there… just to tell me I am getting a Compact car! At this point, after I overcame my disbelief I just said “F it” and left for a Hertz office..

Tom Cummings: The car that we picked up from this location smelled so badly of smoke that it was nauseating to drive and we were forced to exchange it for a new rental the next day. Because most locations do not have extra cars on hand this meant making an unplanned trip out to DCA airport to exchange the car. Our initial car never should have been issued in it's condition and I strongly regret not mentioning the smell when I first picked up the car.

Manu: We booked 2 drivers online, paid everything and when we went to the store to pick up our car we had to extra-pay the 2nd driver, cause they told us we only chose one driver. That's bs. The service was ok, they looked a little annoyed. You get your car or a similar sized on. We booked a Ford edge and got a Chevy Blazer. That worked for us

Hailey Eklund: Got a good car no problem, wasn’t busy on a Friday. Exterior was clean but they took zero time to clean out the inside of the car which seemed to have kid mess/vomit inside of it. I had to ask the hotel for Clorox whipes to clean it myself. Gross

Tony Joy: Laughable, shamefully poor customer service. Avoid avoid avoid. I wish I’d read the prior reviews before engaging with this ridiculously bad outlet. Previous reviewers echo my own frustrating and time-wasting experience. Never again. (Not trying to pile on here but it's noteworthy the number of corporate message replies that begin "We are sorry to hear of your experience.." and yet the complaints continue unabated.)

Edward Grandi: The L street location is a blessing especially during working hours. I can pickup and drop-off just a short walk from home. They have a good selection of vehicles and a helpful staff upstairs and downstairs.

Tiffany Gaskins: The car was unclean in the interior and exterior. Halfway through my reservation, I found a used mask behind the seat. Customer service only gave me a $50 certificate for my next rental. As if I would rent with Hertz again! I returned the car and reserved another car with Enterprise. Their cars are clean and safe. And they have better customer service.

M M: The service here is absolutely the worst. First, they added charges on my contract that I had explicitly told them not to charge. Second, they claimed that the vehicle was not returned when it had been returned two days ago (see photo). Nor can the correct location be found on their website and no one here picks up the phone number. Indeed, it is impossible to contact the center and they simply do not care. I’m taking my business elsewhere after this extremely unpleasant and ongoing experience. People really have better things to do than asking a corporation to return them their rightful money.

Jay Krueger: I rented here over a weekend in June, 2022. I had reserved a car weeks in advance. My train was an hour late, and based off a lot of other reviews, I was nervous. The people at this location were great. They were incredibly friendly at pickup and drop off. When I arrived, they only had electric cars available, so I got a Tesla Model 3, which I hated, but was fine (zip it, Muskies. I prefer my electric BMW). I had prepaid for a tank of gas, which they took off my reservation as soon as they assigned me the car. The only drawback was I picked it up with 52 miles of range. I was staying with a friend in the city where only street parking was available so overnight charging wasn't possible. This wasn't that big of a deal; I was able to use a supercharger to get > 200 miles of range for about $14, but getting the car with even 100 miles of range would have been better in an area I'm unfamiliar with. This location is a small kiosk, so if you arrive when it's busy, you're going to be waiting, for sure. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to rent from this location again.

Kevin Fenton: The employees were very helpful and pleasant, but Hertz's business model is awful at this location. For starters, after I got checked in for my reservation, I found out that there was a 1 hour expected wait time to get the car (which ended up being closer to 1.5 hours). I'm not sure why this is, but I suspect that they didn't have enough cars on hand. On top of that, the waiting area is in an open air parking garage which can be fairly miserable because of how hot and humid DC gets in the summer. I'm surprised they didn't at least have an option to text us while we waited in the main hall of Union Station. Additionally, employees had to take on two jobs at once - checking people in and inspecting vehicle returns. Both tasks seem to take about 10 minutes, so there's a lot of holdup for people waiting to get their car and people trying to check in. I don't know why they didn't have employees specifically assigned to each task to speed things up, but this definitely contributed to the delay. Hertz really should get better about predicting how many cars they'll have available for renting/limit reservations if they don't know that they can fulfill them so that we can rent somewhere else instead, as well as hire more employees to help out.

Taja Hirata-Epstein: Awful company. Employees were nice, but horrible experience and fraudulent charges on my credit card. They were "out of cars" and would not honor my reservation, told me corporate instructed them to prioritize/only honor Elite members reservations. They only had a more expensive reservation available (extra ~$200), which they refused to discount at all. Took the reservation, only to find the car was dirty and smelled like cigarettes. Immediately cancelled the reservation, but Hertz employee didn't process the cancellation and I was charged the reservation fee and a toll fee for a car I never drove. Budget was a much quicker and transparent company, would recommend there instead.

--: I give them three stars. The service agents were okay. Corporate made a tereible decision creating this location. They have a small desk with only two employees handling over a dozen customers at once. So, I don’t blame them for not being able to get to a lot of customers on time. What I do not like is having to wait for over three hours for a car that I already had a reservation for, and getting a car with McDonalds fries under the seat. And worst of all—them not finding the keys I dropped off and charging me two days worth of late fees. I had to call them dozens (that’s not an exaggeration) of times for them to close out my reservation and void the costs. The first time I called them, the man said he’d handle it, and he didn’t. The second time they answered my call, they put me on hold for twenty minutes, then hung up on me. When they finally answered the phone again, it took about a half hour for them to finally get to me and resolve thebissue. I’m hoping my “late fees” get voided…

Guillem Ferrerons: I returned the car I rented before the hour I was supposed to, on March 27 2022. I left the keys IN the DROPBOX. The following day I received a call telling me they couldn't retrieve the key. I am a 1000% sure the keys went INSIDE the dropbox. Now I am being charged 200$ because they say I didn't follow the protocol even if I did. When I asked for the removal of the charge I was told to call to Customer Service, wich I did, and I was told there to speak to the manager of Hertz Union Station. I want this problem solved. I LEFT THE KEYS INSIDE THE BOOTH.

Richard Lee: I had a reservation I made over a week ago. They had me wait over 2 hours for my vehicle because the reservation was not until 4:00 only to tell me at 4 they don't have my vehicle. So I missed seeing my girlfriend before she left for her parents place and won't see her for the entire holiday weekend including Christmas to get a rental car so I could see my mother which they do not have so I'll be spending Christmas alone. Not only that but they are rude and ignore you and talk over you when they finally acknowledge your existence.

Mike Benson: Don't rent here. They didn't honor my reservation saying they were "all out of cars." The offered no apology and no compensation. Hertz used to be a decent company. Not any more.

L L: The employee was helpful, but the company thinks very little little of their customers. Waited about two hours to get the car because there was only one person working. Go elsewhere and save your time and your sanity.

Dennis de la Roy: Overall it was one of the better rental experiences I have had. There was no wait and it did not take long to get me checked-in. Every step of the process was clearly explained. I think that I was upgraded so that was nice too. Even when things do not go the way they should, the team knows how to deal with them. Due to a small technical error I was not able to return the car with the same amount of fuel. The colleague that took the car back in solved this hassle-free. In short, MJ and her team provide excellent customer service and are there for you when you need them! I definitely recommend them for your rides around DC.

Pia Bacolod: One star because they did give me a car when I needed one. Took out a star because of the bad quality of car. In 12 years of driving rental cars (I’m a fleet driver), this is by far the ickiest car I’ve driven. Took out another star for the staff making promises they couldn’t keep (I blame the manager and the lackluster training). Took out another star for the manager MJ who never acknowledged my complaint. Took out another star for the manager MJ who promised to call me when a better car would be available but didn’t. Supposed to have a rental from May 9th till end of July. No thanks. Not from this branch. Returned.

Riley Pagett: After waiting for several hours with other rental car companies only to be told their cars were now out of stock or unavailable, or they wouldn’t accept my form of payment, or that I couldn’t pick up a car on the same day as making a reservation, MJ at Enterprise came to the rescue. She helped me make a reservation and get a desired vehicle all within minutes. I’m loyal to Enterprise and this location now.

Kai Kaiser: Booked on Expedia, and arrived with no car availability. Told simply that the two systems don’t talk to each other in real time? In this day and age, really? Then was told that I would need to check other location myself to find vehicle.

Stephen Zippe: 2021 ... Enterprise decided to turn the staff over and it shows. Went from 5 to one star. I reserved a car and when I showed up they had no car ready. I had to wait over an 1.5 hours for them to clean and fill up a car. Poor fleet management. The manager said it's all about timing, but I disagree. You have to have cars ready, the customer should not worry about your inability to manage your cars. 2020 ... This Location is amazing. The service is first-class and the staff there really take good care of you. Can only recommend this branch.

Michaela Wiggins: Enterprise (Southwest DC location) are definitely underrated. The customer service I received was exceptional. They did everything in their power to make sure I was able to rent for my children’s birthday as well as making sure the vehicle was the best size and quality. The inside was extremely clean and with a 7 passenger vehicle , it only took about $35-45 to fill up. I would definitely come back here again. Thanks for the amazing customer service .

Ronald Terrell: Renting a car from Enterprise was a very pleasant experience for my Granddaughter and I. She has rented several cars because of fender bender with our Geico insurance. With the exception of one in Temple Hills, who wouldn't take her paper replacement drivers permit after her wallet with all her identification was stolen during a car jacking. The one I rented from in Southwest DC was very professional and very transparent!

Danette Dugan Smith: Immediatelky after being discharged from the hospital after my HEAD ON COLLISION, After calling the store for two hours, I called the 1-800 number and they told me to just show up. ???? Once I got there the folks were very kind. The car was not washed but simply rinsed. When I called later to extend, again the folks were very nice at the store. I then called to have car picked up and was told not possible as the store closed at NOON! on a Saturday! I was not told this before, and even though they advertise pick up, you can forget it and the folks at the 1-800 were rude and did not give a rat's behind! It cost me huge LYFT charges to get home after dropping the car.

Sophie W: You need a credit card to pick up a rental car here. I made my reservation using a debit card and was not given any information about needing a credit card. I only found out when I arrived to pick up the car and was unable to get it. This was an awful experience and not something I wanted to deal with on the day I was moving. Update: this policy is specific to this Avis location. If you don’t have a credit card (and are over 25) I highly recommend the Avis location on Connecticut Ave. Much better service there and they accept Debit

Once at the counter, if using a debit card for the authorization hold there will be a credit check for credit worthiness. Some locations do not accept debit cards. ~SD

Krishna Bhavithavya Kidambi: I rented a car from here during the pandemic. They have markings to keep costumers socially distanced. I had to wait for almost 1 hour to get a car as they didn’t have many cars. The staff were very friendly and polite. But they did not wear any face protection. I wish they would have..! Overall it was ok.

EM: I liked my experience a few months ago - I've rented lots of short term bargain rentals over the years, and was leery of changing from more suburban pick up locations and other companies. But the two-week rental was quick, car was clean and better than expected. They didn't laugh when I said not red. I hope they'll have something for me to drive while waiting for my MD registration to "arrive."

Mark Worscheh: What a disaster. First, they have a six-foot "vapor" barrier, so you have to yell to talk to anyone, then the car they provide is late, and its the oldest (84,000 miles) and absolutely dirtiest car I've ever rented in my life of renting 100s of cars. And no spare tire -- bags collapse into trunk hole! And of course, all the charges were wrong at the end. What a comedy of a rental company -- avoid, avoid!

Bernadette Presley: At Avis Rental car in Union station. The customer service was fast and friendly. I didn't have to wait a long time. And everything was appropriate and explain to me before leaving with my car. One of the staff even escorted me to where my car was. I just had a problem trying to find how to enter into the Union station to find the rental pick-up. My future rentals will always be at Avis in Union station! 💯

Dr. Sharad Nair: Excellent service although I was a walk in however I was given car without front tag and with expired registration 🤦‍♂️was pulled over by police but was let of with warning when they saw the rental contract. Called reservations was passed onto emergency. While emergency was polite and explained next steps he could not block a replacement car for us at he next destination. Its seriously unprofessional of Avis to give is a car with expired registration & no front number tag

David Grillo: As it has already been mentioned a complete disaster. I prepaid for the car and after waiting 20 minutes to bring the car up they tell me they do not have the size car I paid for and they would offer me a smaller car or pay for a upgrade. Those were my choices. Take it or leave it. When I get the car it is dirty and 1/4 tank of gas. Stay away from this location. The manager was in and out of her personal car and did not care. I had to go to a gas station after leaving so I could make my trip. Unbelievable!!!!

Bill Holler: This was a really horrible experience. Although I had a firm reservation for a luxury car, there was no car available and no service either. The counter at the station was not occupied and it took me 2 hours and endless phone calls with their "service hotline" to get a car in the other part of the city. All the time I was standing in the open in the child and surrounded by incredible noise in that station. It was an experience that I do not want to repeat. AVIS can certainly do better than this.

Kristen Thompson: This location is a disaster. For starters, their location is NOT within the main building of Union Station like their website, union station's website, and the signage on the stand inside the building all indicate. It is actually far on the other end of the parking garage with absolutely ZERO signage indicating such. This massive discrepancy caused me to miss the pick-up time for my pre-paid Avis rental car. They refused to serve me and told me to return the next day to pick up a car (so I had to take time off work to go get a car the next morning). Then comes the real kicker... The next morning, they gave me a car through Budget Rental Cars and didn't tell me! All my paperwork they gave me says "Avis" on it, but sure enough it was a completely separate and new rental through Budget! I didn't find out about this until after the rental was completed (story continues below). So the rental goes fine. The car was in fine status with no strong cigarette smell, which I appreciated, but then when I returned the vehicle, there was no paperwork or any confirmation of anything. They asked me if I wanted the receipt emailed to me and took the key and that was it. Three days later, I still don't have a receipt but I have TWO charges on my credit card: one for Avis and one for Budget. I call customer service and tell them I want the receipt and I want an explanation as to why there are two charges from two different companies. The lady on the phone tells me that my first option is to "revise" my Avis pre-paid rental to a future date. Only problem with that is I don't need a rental car again and if I did, I'd certainly not get it from Avis at Union Station. So I stand my ground and tell the lady that I absolutely am not going to do that and I want my full refund for the pre-paid rental with no fees or anything subtracted. Absolutely unbelievable. I have NEVER had such a bad experience with a rental car group. I will be going back to Enterprise in the future, despite them usually being more expensive. At least they don't try to secretly screw you over (and charge you double) and their customer service and employees at the Union Station location are fantastic and actually helpful. Do NOT rent cars from Avis at Union Station...

Romeo S: The staff at this location was very friendly! The reason for not getting 5-⭐ 's is because of 2 things: 1. Upon receiving the vehicle and leaving the parking garage, I noticed that all the tires seemed like someone rolled through mud and didn't quite get it all off. Just a sugguestion, use a long scrub brush on the tires and spray a tire sheen on the wheels. 2. There was a soft grinding from application of the brakes the entire rental. The vehicle was clean on the inside and accellerated well.

Steve Schell: Like others here, my pickup experience was extremely poor. Not only was I told that my reservation didn't actually guarantee me anything, and that I'd have to wait over an hour for a car, the employee's attitude wasn't friendly or apologetic at all. Everyone around me was treated similarly, and we were all in a bit of disbelief that the employees considered the situation normal. The car itself was great - brand new (25 miles on the odometer), clean, no complaints there. But the experience of picking up the car was very distasteful.

Glenn Havelock: Convenient having the on-site location at Union Station but make sure to have GPS heading to Or returning from I-66. I'd suggest some better signage getting to the rental car area.

Brandyn Green: Alexis was great. She reached out the day before to inform me that they didn’t have to e vehicle class that I reserved, and I inquired about whether a comparable vehicle would work. I told her that it wouldn’t, and that I specifically needed the class of vehicle that I reserved. From there, she spent the day searching for the vehicle that I reserved until she found one. I appreciated the effort.

Shawn Daley: I also would give this a zero if I could (you should be noticing a trend in the comments). DO NOT RESERVE HERE. My warning to those who want to rent here from out of town: DON'T. Use Union Station which is a 1 mile walk away. I reserved here so that I could get to Baltimore from my hotel. I got a text from their staff saying that I was on a "wait list" with the only direction being that I should show up at my time. I did, only to find that they had no inventory and were driving up to Union Station to get two cars at a time. They had been doing this since 930am and so I was about 7th or 8th in line to get a car. I then had to call Hertz to get my reservation switched to Union Station so that I could get a car faster. The staff at the desk didn't help me with this - I did it all by myself, and after two dropped calls, I ended up paying more, having to walk to Union Station with my luggage, and finally getting a car. My response from Hertz (which by the way, I'd avoid all together based on this experience), was as expected, pretty much "sorry, but...". I don't want to impugn the people at the desk - they seemed completely overwhelmed and were polite, but clearly Hertz has no training on how to address people's needs, or how to help them by getting them over to Union Station, or anything creative that any other service organization would do.

Daniel Pike: Shame it's not possible to give zero stars. If you have a reservation here, don't assume they will actually have a car for you. We reserved 2 weeks before, a 10-day booking for a long vacation, with a good rate. On arrival, we found that several other pre-booked customers had been waiting HOURS for a car to become available. The counter staff had us wait 30 minutes, knowing already that we had a reservation, before actually communicating that they had no cars. Then at one point they claimed they had 3 cars, but after being pressed on it conceded that they were actually waiting for 3 cars to be returned, and had no cars in their possession. Several more customers turned up after us - *we* had to communicate the lack of cars to them, since the Hertz staff just left them in line and in the dark like us - expecting to pick up their reserved car, but just having their time wasted and making it more difficult for them to find an alternative. We ended up having to drive a 2 hour round trip to a different location to get a car, paying a rate more than 2x our initial booking. This is fraud, plain and simple - accepting such an absurd level of overbooking, then not delivering, and leaving customers no other option than to waste substantial time and money to arrange an alternative. Herz should compensate us the extra $280 we had to pay at a different agency to get a car on short notice right before Christmas.

Alasdair Shinner: Alexis today was most efficient and courteous. Car was ready and on time. You can have a good experience here! Only 4*s as car was a liitle tired, particularly the front passenger seat which was extensively stained.

Stas MI5: I wish I could give this Hertz location ZERO stars. Horrible and rude stuff! We've prepaid a car rental half a year ago, came to location to pick the car and they said they HAVE NO CARS and they cannot give me any car, just turned me off. They didn't even try to sort this issue - was rude and careless! So we've left without a transportation. Official grievance complaint filled.

Nick T: Don’t ignore the terrible reviews. I waited 15 minutes for the attendant to “use the bathroom” and come back and tell me I was too late to pick up my car, having booked it 6 weeks prior. Rent from Budget or Avis like I decided to after this experience.

Laura Marschel (LalyMom): We are due to return our car to a hertz counter at the DC renaissance hotel. Tried to call to get a couple quick questions answered. No answer at the hertz desk so decided to call the renaissance hotel. They told us there is no return location there as it has not been staffed at all during covid. Called to change our return location since the location they told us to return it to doesn't exist. Maddening experience. The staff member needed us to tell her the location of other hertz locations where we might return it to. When we finally told her the address of another location she informed us of the rental agreement change fee. We explained that we are only changing it because hertz isn't staffing the place hertz told us to return it. But she argued and there was no supervisor to speak to. No idea still where we are going.

Rashaun Ivy: There is no one working at this location. Spent 40 mins on the phone with Hertz trying to return the car. (Awful phone service!) Then charged $100/day for 10 days after returning the car. Had to call back to get it sorted out- twice! Will never rent from Hertz again (unless returning to an airport location- and only if it's the least expensive option)!

Geoff B: Terrible attitude of the staff, didnt get the car I ordered. Talked to me with a terrible attitude. As a gold member expected better.

Marquis Solomon: If wasted time is what you desire then hertz as a whole will give it to you, Alexis was thus far the only positive aspect of this experience!

Annelise Prucnal: I am very sad to see the steep decline in Hertz quality. I have enjoyed having this location in my neighborhood, but have noticed poorer quality cars after the pandendemic. I recently ordered a sedan for weekend trip but was upgraded to a Dodge Journey becuase they had given away all the sedans. However, the car was very dirty, which I cleaned up with my own clorox wipes. I wouldn't have said anything, but then I noticed a sound coming from the rear wheels that was more noticable as I accellerated. Having picked up the car right before closing, I wasn't able to return it to the original location so I called the 24 emergency line and they told me to go to BWI (1hr drive) to exchange my car. When I arrived at BWI, I found the attendant but the waived me off saying there were no cars available. I tried to ask follow up questions and figure out next steps, but was again waived off, and told I could wait until 4am when new cars would come in. I left, driving the sub-par car back to DC and called the 24 emergency line again hoping to come up with a plan. They confirmed that I would have better chance getting a car from DCA, so after getting home from BWI at 2:30 am, I woke up and called the DCA Hertz at 7:40, but couldn't get through so I drove over their only to be told again they didn't have any cars. They told me to go to IAD, but when I expressed my frustration with having already driven to two other Hertz airport locations only to be turned away, they informed me I could wait 2-3 hours to get replacement or 30 minutes for a smaller car. Since I was now several hours late in leaving for my trip, I was happy to take the next car avialable. Having spent a good portion of my weekend, just trying to secure a functioning vehicle that I had reserved months in advance, I am very hesitant to use Hertz in the future and would advise others to consider alternative options. During and after this unfortunate experience, I communciated my frustration with Hertz and have not heard anything back. They seam to be struggling with basic logistics and by no means have the bandwidth to offer basic customer service support.

sankofa7: The staff and service at this location are EXCEPTIONAL. Taliay, the manager, and her staff Jordan and Jeffrey go out of their way to ensure quality service. Because of their professionalism, timely responsiveness, and flexibility, I have rented cars from the Washington Hilton (Dupont Circle) location each week for the past two months. I am not sure why ratings at this location are low. It is worth your efforts renting a vehicle at this location in DC. -- friendly, timely, courteous, accommodating, and professional.

Stephanie Corte: The service provided by the two people who I encountered at the office was good. They were very helpful. My only issue is with the location. It was hard directing myself to get there for a drop-off, because it wasn’t clear that I had to drive into the hotel parking lot to park the car and then make my way up to the lobby to find the office. Once I called their office number though, they clarified where I needed to enter and how to find the office.

Ankit Shai: Both of the staff at the office were very helpful (apologies, I don't remember their names, though I should). The car was clean, and the exact model I had requested. Pick-up and drop were extremely convenient and hassle-free.

Gregory Mitchell: Great customer service. Received a call from Marty several days before my pickup confirming the vehicle and availability. Rental was ready and clean when I showed up. We recommend this location for convenience if in the city.

Julien Bolard: I booked a car two weeks before. When I came to pick it up, they told me that they had no car left. They offered me to put my name on a waiting list, after what maybe I could have a car by the end of the day. No need to say more. Avoid.

DC Explorer: Great experience here. Service was great and so was the car. Much more convenient than going to the airport to pick up a car. Well done.

Sunset Group: Worst customer service! Do not reserve or rent from this location unless you want to be left with out a car in a last minute situation. The staff at this location are extremely rude and unhelpful.

Lubos Runcak: Helpful staff, quick process to get car and hit the road. 10 min from arriving to getting the keys. Cleaned, nicely smelling car waiting along with child safety seat as preordered.

Alex Jones: Walked 45 mins to location (on saturday) to be told no cars left for the weekend. Despite booking weeks in advance and paying in full. Absolute joke. Not offered any compensation or alternative vehicle. Told to come back on Monday and they ‘might’ have a car for us.

CB: NEARLY GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT, GIVEN THE WRONG CAR! Budget assured my girlfriend and I that we could secure a 4WD car if we called several days in advance. Our trip required a 4WD car rental, as there was off-road driving involved. We were given a Front wheel drive (FWD) car and assured it was 4WD. We got to the off-roading part of the drive and found the car could not make it up the hill- we ended up rolling back into a rut on the side of the road. Upon checking the car manual to see if it could help us, I found that the manual we were given did Not match the car we were driving! The car did not have any 4WD setting and we later found out that it was indeed only FWD. A local helped us out of the situation and we then needed to drive two hours out of our way to trade for an actual 4WD car. We lost 4-6 hours with this whole ordeal, plus about $60 of gas. I attached a picture of the console and what it was listed as in the manual. Had we indeed needed emergency features, we would have not had proper instructions available. This is a walking lawsuit and management simply blames the customer for the company’s mistakes, rather than actually rectify the issue. We have tried contacting customer service for this location. Though they lied about the car model and we were very nearly injured, we were only offered $50 off the $180 rental based on a fraudulent reservation. I will be following up with the National Transportation Safety Board, but what terrible customer service and management. Unresponsive managers when we tried to resolve the issue, I waited several hours for them to call me back and was then yelled at by a representative for asking what the delay was about. Just go elsewhere- maybe Zipcar or Enterprise. Apparently Budget values customers’ lives and safety at $50.00.

ANYA RANDALL NEBEL: Horrible experience. Don’t bother early check in because they won’t have your car. If you paid in advance just know that they still won’t have anything that you asked for ready. Also, if they tell you they will Give you an upgrade for the same price for your trouble you won’t get that either. Not even any sympathy especially if you have somewhere else to be Also if you have someone drop you off make sure they stay cause you could be stuck

Bill Fleming: I rented via pre-pay from Avis but no cars were available with the Sirius XM radio I purchased nor the approximate model I selected. I was then offered a Jeep Grand Cherokee but the seatbelt buckle was inexplicably stuck in place which would not allow me any way to use it. I mean, how does THIS happen?! Finally I got an extremely dirty Kia Soul SUV rife with salt spray after the previous day's winter storm, in which I was told the vehicle could not be washed due to some District of Columbia requirement. And the vehicle was out of windshield washer fluid. This location has always had a car wash but somehow they couldn't use it or weren't allowed to use it by the D.C. government. My whole experience sucked.

All the while, the car felt very unsafe to drive.

I realized I left my wallet in the car after they had just closed, they stayed late after their shift ended to get the keys out of the safe and help us out. I am forever grateful!!

The employee who handled my rental was informative and polite, and the car i received was brand new with best rental prices I could find for a 7 passenger vehicle for my trip, thanks for the best services & I will definitely rent from here again!

Richard Santiago: After taking an Uber to get to this location, they told me that there was no car available. It’s like getting into an airport with a confirmation number but then the airline will tell you that there’s no seat available. Is that acceptable? They just said sorry but didn’t even compensate me for my Uber ride from my hotel to their location. What a waste of time, effort and money!

Yan Li: Weiney is super friendly and professional! I rented cars twice from this location during my 1-week-stay at Georgetown. Both rental experiences were smooth and delightful. The rental office is located underground inside the Georgetown Parking garage. It's a bit confusing at the beginning because the Budget sign is not very visible from the street. But once you find the place everything is easy.

Mike Tantillo: Finally, found a place with pre-pandemic prices in DC. Friendly staff, convenient location (circulator bus stop less than a block away), decent price, what’s not to like?

Condalator: Convenient location and wonderful, personable staff. Our choice of vehicle was not available, but was offered a substitution that was equally good if not better. The car return was a hassle-free experience. Will definitely rent from this location again.

Joshua Allen: Added a bunch of insurances to my rental after I said I only wanted collision. Ended up charging me $300 over my rental fee. Was hard to dispute since my signature was next to it all. Also, returns here are awful. No instruction in the parking deck and no one to guide you or pick up the car.

A Smith: I'm kind of surprised to see all the bad reviews. My experience 2 weeks ago went so smoothly. I showed up at 7am, the employee on staff was very nice, had me sign the necessary work and I got my car right away. I rented an SUV and there were no issues whatsoever. It was a bit confusing finding the place in the parking garage since there's no signage but that's about it. Dropping off was just as easy. Both employees were kind and efficient.

Katie Owens: For the person(s) who said they’ve rented from this location for 5 years: that’s not possible! It only opened late in 2021. Perhaps you’re thinking of the location on Calvert? That closed during Covid and this new location (inside the Glover Park Hotel) opened sometime in late summer / early Fall 2021. The customer service is great. I like the Wisconsin Ave NW location except for the hours and inability to drop off after hours. Since the Calvert location used the hotel garage you could drop off a vehicle after the office was closed. It was fantastic. Since this location is closed Saturday and Sunday and only open M-F from 8-5 (minus lunch break) it greatly reduces accessibility and usefulness for all dc drivers who rent cars for weekend travels and errands. It’s too expensive for me to extend a Friday reservation to return on Monday so maybe consider giving us a free weekend… OR allow us to return off hours with a drop box!

Dwayne Clayburn: I have never given anyone a 5 star ratings before because I never knew or have ever gotten a 5 star treatment before. What is given to make it 5 stars is the what I get when I go pick up my ride . I called to let them know things were running slow and behind they offered to pick me up they even called me because they found my baby "Tahoe" told me to go pick it up awesome I made the swap and I was in heaven. The service is quick the team is friendly go check them out at the Calvert St. Enterprise Washington DC

Alex Navarro: Good location in Glover Park at the hotel. However, I reserved a mid-sized car and they “upgraded” me to a sports car. I had car seats to put in so that was not going to work. Thankfully, they were able to get another car over from a different location, but it did take some time I didn’t really have to spare. The person working was very kind though, so I would use them again. Be aware they are pricier than other locations only a few miles away in VA due to the city address I assume.

Oliver Wilcox: Tried to rent from here to drive out of town for family funeral. Waited over 30 minutes for car. Car smelled. Drove it home. Found food litter on backseat floor. Made multiple calls and sent multiple emails to resolve situation. Some branch responsiveness on vehicle retrieval and refund, but took a lot of prompting/checking in on customer’s part. Four days later, still waiting for confirmation of complete refund. Area Manager and Regional Office calls were promised but didn’t happen. No acknowledgment of family situation offered. Soraya Senosier: I have been renting from this enterprise rental cars locaton for over 5 years. This review does not reflect my usual service at this location. I have been an enterprise customer over 12 years. Until last weekend this location had a great manager who provided wonderful service. This morning I came in to rent a car thinking that I had made a reservation but unfortunately I had not. Despite the online reservation system indicating that there were cars available. The new manager told me that there was nothing available. He had 6 cars and 6 reservations. A few minutes after I stepped out of the location and made a reservation. While I was waiting two cars were returned. Another representative came out to discuss the situation with me and told me that the manager could not give me a car when there was nothing available. He said that my treatment had been no different and that they could not give cars one when they were not available. I explained that I wasn't looking for preferential treatment just good service. A manager should know when cars are coming in and coming out, if he had told me to wait awhile or tried in any way to accommodate me things would have been different. There was no effort to help me I recognize a difference in service when I know one. This enterprise is in my neighborhood and now I will be renting elsewhere.

Aly Colon: I would have given this a higher rating. I rent cars only from Enterprise. And I appreciate the attention and care I have found. The manager at the Wardman Park Marriott Hotel in DC did an excellent getting me ready so I could pick up my car. He was attentive and personable. But getting the car itself took longer than I expected. I thought it would have been ready when I arrived at the office at 7:30 am. I was in a rush because I had appointment to get to. But I had to wait until about 7:46 am. Normally, that's not that long. But, again I had an appointment. The bigger problem was I was in such a rush, I didn't notice the car smelled like an ashtray. I couldn't turn around because I didn't have the time. The smell of cigarettes was so strong I could smell it with windows down. The car looked clean on the inside, but not as clean on the inside, the area in the back where I had to put our suitcases looked stained.

Allison Huang: Everything went smoothly! I requested an earlier pick-up the morning of my rental and that was quick and easy. When I returned the car, their garage was pretty full which made it hard to maneuver into a space, but they eventually saved me from having to navigate into a space in a car I wasn't familiar with. I'd appreciate better instructions for returning in general (would also be nice to have a recommendation for the closest/cheapest gas stations to refill at).

Robb Scharetg: I rent vehicles from Enterprise for work assignments on a regular basis, and one big reason I tend to stick with them as a vendor is not their prices, or their locations, or their vehicle selection - they are equal to the 'other big players' in those fields. It's their people - friendly, courteous, hard working and despite being swamped on a Sat AM (in this instance) ALWAYS cheerful and doing their utmost to help their customers. The staff at this location are great, and it's easy to pick-up and return vehicles. Highly recommended.

Larry Wenberg: Picked up a one-way rental car here about 4 weeks ago and was very impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. They had the car I reserved ready to go so I was quickly on my way. Another good experience with Enterprise.

Jim F: Called to pick up a car that I confirmed online earlier that day. Spoke with Kyrah who told me that even though it says confirmed that isn't the case. I find it odd that you can confirm a car online and that Enterprise online reservation isn't accurate. She even told me that they didn't have the car I confirmed online at that facility. I asked what did they have and she told me they didn't have any cars. I told her that I was disappointed and would inquire back at my employer since we have a corporate agreement in place about what transpired. I get a call back about 20 minutes later and low and behold, they have a car all of a sudden. When back over the agreed-upon price I got online thru my appointment and that I had to be there by 5 pm. Well, I got there at 506 pm as traffic was bad and it was closed up. I called her back and she told me the system was down and she left with the manager to drop off one of their damaged cars at a repair shop. I told her I was 5 minutes late due to traffic, she said nothing we can do. Pretty sad when she knew I was coming and I am sure the manager was aware of it and could have waited the 5 minutes but they didn't ...This is a classic example of poor customer service and to make matters worse, the manager had a training moment to show his peer what is customer service is and how you value your clients but instead he perpetuates poor service. I won't rent any cars in the future from them.

Jason Paravano: I’ve been sending my customers to this location for over a year and the service and rates have been great. Now they bring in new staff and I’m a stranger and they are trying to charge us $189 a day for a small SUV.

Lawrence Huggins: June 29, 2020 I rented a Large SUV 4WD for myself and wife to take a road trip. I was so impressed with the space and comfort of the vehicle I've even considering buying one if my neighbor would not think that I got it because he has one. The customer service that I received from the Enterprise Team Associate ( Jasmine Fort Washington, MD #1647 ) she was professional, polite and very customer service oriented. Marti Harris-Clark: The staff at Fort Washington my favorite. Unfortunately they could not pick me up from my home but offered to pay for my Lyft ( not sure they did). The car had a very bad smell like a animal was in it ( talk to the staff about it) they told me they would reimburse me. Not sure they did. Bobby B: From the start i was skeptical about renting a car from Enterprise especially during the pandemic. I usually rent a uhaul pickup for weekend for work since its usually just me. This time it was my son's birthday weekend and the Silverado, in which I rented, was the vehicle I was looking to purchase. So a weekend test drive would be great. So my experience was good.. UNTIL the returning of the vehicle. I was embarrassed and blamed for damaging the vehicle that was not even checked out when I rented it. I was about to be rented a extremely muddy vehicle as if it came from a construction site. In which the guy, who was very helpful, cleaned the best he could. Due to the fact the office was full of waiting people he did a quick 2 second walk around and took my payment and sent me on my way. I was confused about the process since I used to do the estimates for enterprise damages and knew they were usually thorough. But being in a hurry i just went with the flow in which now is haunting me. I have never been in a situation like this in my life and regret ever stepping foot into that place. I dont even want to even purchase a Silverado anymore either smh. Fyi..if you have a silver vehicle and its wet you'll know it looks flawless. I even told the girl at that location to wet it down and tell me if she still sees the ding, that you can only see at an angle, but she refused.

Michael Toussaint: I think I have to echo everyone else, the customer service here is top notch. More Enterprise locations should operate like this. These guys are courteous, fun and take care of things pretty quickly. Dropped my car off at the shop and they came and picked me up no problems too. I'll definitely rent from them again in the future and they're not too far to my house. Kudos to them for their everyone customer service.

Cinnamon Tucker: Very helpful staff and incredibly friendly. I recieved exactly the car that I needed while my car was in the shop... and when I needed extra time past the expected timeframes, they were able to easily accommodate on a daily basis by allowing me to keep the same vehicle. They were also incredibly helpful with the dropoff of the vehicle. They also truly do pick up and drop off!

SJB Creates: This used to be my favorite location to rent cars since it is less than 5 miles from my home. My most recent experience was a bit bizarre. First my initial reservation was cancelled without no explanation. I checked with the corporate office and they said it originated at this location. But no one wanted to take responsibility for it. Second, I was scheduled for a car "delivery" only to be told later that due to COVID-19 they no longer do that. I had no problem with that but apparently the staff was confused with what the policy was. When I returned the car on Friday, August 14, 2020, I accidently left a bag in the back seat. I thought it was odd that they didn't call me to tell me it was there but when I arrived today to retrieve it I was informed by the manager Jasmine that "we are not responsible for things left in the cars." But what abhout common courtesy? I guess they are not responsible for that either. I did retrieve the bag today but found the manager Jasmine very cold and uncaring. She seemed to have an answer for everything that went wrong instead of saying," I will check with my employees about that " or" it's not our responsiblity for lost articles however, someone could have called and let you know we had it". It was just more of we are short staffed, someone was sick, I wasn't here and well, it is what it is. I will take my business to another location that knows how to treat people with respect or at least trains their people to do business.

Sarah Smith: Beware of this Hertz location. There is a significant lack of quality control and customer service. They gave me a car with a tire pressure of 25 psi, which I noticed after 10 minutes of driving. The “check oil soon” warning was also displaying. After I went to a service center to get air in the tires, I went back to get a new car and the guy behind the counter started an argument with me and told me it was the weather that caused the tire pressure to be low and I would have been fine. No concern for my safety or the other people on the road. He then gave me another car and on the last day I drove it the tire pressure warning also came on that car and one of the tires did not even have a cap on it.

H. J.: Got there in time and found a very friendly and polite employee (Clemens) in the office. Everything was set. He took us through the backdoor right into the driveway of the garage and went to get the car. Even helped us with our luggage (up the stairs and to get it into the trunk). The car, a 2021 Hyundai Elantra, had just about 17000 mi, was very clean and just like you expect a good rental car. 3 1/2 weeks and about 3000 mi later (avg. of 53 (!!!!!) MPG) we returned the car and Clemens - as friendly as the first time - even took us to the METRO Station. If we visit the D.C. area next time (for Germany is not just around the corner) we will rent there again !

Jawwad Khan: Wonderful 5 star experience for renting a car from this place. Overall procedure was very smooth from booking and taking the car from the location and it's return. The front counter official was very courteous and helpful and even at the time of returning of vehicle he asked about my experience and for any complaint. Highly recommend this place :-)

Mahlet Megra: I had the worst experience at this Hertz shop. They sent me a confirmation that they had a car available. I took an Uber ride more than 30 minutes to get there. When I got to the location, they didn’t have a car available. What made the experience so much worse is that the customer service agent didn’t apologize or explain or anything. He just said we don’t have a car available even though you got a confirmation. The most horrible experience. I had to take another Uber ride back home which was more than $30. Stay away!

I mean why would you ask someone your name and pick up time if there were no cars available? The apps says there was available to be rent! Don’t go to this store! I repeat don’t go!

Andrea Kasey: Aliyah was amazing! She worked with me to find the vehicle that I needed. She was very accommodating with my pick up/drop off needs and made sure to get me in and out quickly because I was in a hurry. This location is farther from my house than other Hertz locations but I’ll definitely rent here again because of Aliyah’s great service. She really made me feel valued as a customer.

Ahmed Alqaysi: Poor customer service. You make an online reservation and when you show up they tell you that they don’t have cars.

d has: Id give 4 stars for the guy who gave me the car. but this place only deserves two.Zero for the other guy that sits there showing off his attitude to the customers. Unfortunately I don't remember his name. The rental car was not clean: hair all over the salon and spilled coffee on the steering wheel. The car definitely needs some maintenance at least new wipers and wiper fluid refill.

Sebastian Gomez: This location is closed. God knows since when. The customer service told me it closed, but they didn’t know since when. Then only option is to return it in the airport, which means $35 of an uber back to downtown. Worst experience. Nobody seems to know anything. One representative tells you to look for it, the other one that is closed out, other one that they’re gonna send a truck to pick it up. Finally, they demand to return it in the airport. And the worst is that they treated me as it was my fault. Horrible customer service. Never booking with this company again.

Chelsea McMahon: Literally doesn’t exist! The Hertz Location (which owns the Thrifty brand) told us they moved to Union Station. Don’t go here! You will need to return your car elsewhere.

E Caruso: Nonexistent location. There is nothing here. Thrifty will still book you to drop off at this location. Don't do it! I had to go to DCA to figure everything out.

Tried to file a complaint but unfortunately it’s almost impossible. It’s annoying how companies allow their representatives to be so rude and just plain trashy on the phone.

Michael Pineyro: Rented a car for 7 days, because of a natural disaster, I had to cut the trip short and only used it for 5 days. The guy in the front said, "too late, you already paid for 7 days, can't give you money for returning the car earlier". Even though they can rent the car to another person that same day.

Valeria Reed: Extremely extremely poor service from Brook the manager and employee Brandon. They lacked professionalism and competence in dealing with this customer....Took money from my deposit and wouldn’t or couldn’t explain the reason clearly. Were rude and dismissive. Enterprise doesn’t respond to complaints. A supervisor from Geico had great difficulty connecting with an Enterprise manager who finally did contact me. I have yet to received a refund. I am now extremely wary of Enterprise because the company personnel and owner do not appear to care how customers are treated. If a supervisor from Geico had not put forth great effort to contact a regional manger for me, I as a customer would have had no response to my complaint. This reflects very negatively on Enterprise the company.

Tailgate Ted: Avoid this branch of Enterprise. The customer service is nonexistent. The vehicle they gave me had been side swiped and had scratches and dents all over it. I requested a different vehicle and the "manager" Ms. Newman could not have been more rude. They reluctantly changed it out with another vehicle in the same class after I refused to take the damaged car. Do yourself a favor and rent a car somewhere else.

ro ri: This location may be the best one in the region. My experiences have been awesome--even throughout the pandemic! The manager named Kiki is always an absolute joy, and goes above and beyond in her role every time I rent a car. She and her staff work great together to guarantee the best service possible.

Nick Ewing: I was in a car accident last month. The person who hit me had their insurance send me a rental car to pick me up at the auto body shop as I need a car to get to work. Enterprise from this location called me and told me they will arrive to the location with a car by 9:30 am. I agreed as I had work at 10:30 am. They did not show up until 11:15 am which made me late to work. I get paid hourly so I missed out on pay and got an earful from my boss due to enterprises negligence. During my wait they did not give a clear answer on where they were. They did not care when I told them I need to get to work. On top of this, they needed my credit card on file for a deposit. No big deal. I then noticed a charge on my card increasing. This was weird cause I was informed the rental would be fully covered. I learned that I was only covered for a compact vehicle but enterprise decided to issue me with a full size sedan. They did not warn me about this and just handed me a car. Luckily, the insurance was good and picked up the remaining cost. Suddenly today, I got a $128.89 charge from enterprise on my credit card. I was then never told what this charge was for. This whole process was a headache from start to finish. All of these issues could have been avoided if they paid attention and stuck to their word.

F Sands: Only deal with them when it's absolutely necessary. They basically promise more than they can deliver and the staff is just borderline and seemed much more interested in executing whatever sales or production metrics they need to meet. The other issue is one beyond their control but they haven't figured out it elevator speech to give the customers to resolve it. Basically there's a shortage of cars everywhere because of supply and the pandemic and instead of just being real with people and setting reasonable expectations they over promise and under-deliver

Mary N: Can i give zero stars? Counter help not friendly or assisting, car over 2 hrs past scheduled pick up time. No customer status updates or support for the delay in car delivery.

S: While the line looked long, it actually moved fairly quickly processed via the Hertz counter. Friendly employee. Received an upgrade to a clean and nice SUV. SUV was ready to go right in the front of the lot.

Lola Isaiah: I was booked with thrifty rental by a third party service. No part of the agreement states that a security deposit of $500 would be required, neither was it clearly stated that I would be needing a matching credit card for payment. I travelled from Dallas to Washington with the aim of getting a rental car to my destination; unfortunately I was stranded for three(3) good hours at thrifty rental. I was told $500 security deposit was required, which I never questioned. I tendered my credit card, but the personnel refused to accept it stating that the name on my credit card must match the name on my driver license. I explained to her, that I am the card bearer, and the name on my credit card is my maiden name, while my driver license bears my marital name. This representative refused me blindly. I even called thrifty customer service, after being on hold for so long, the representative said there was nothing she could do about it. I went ahead to present my travel itinerary, yet it made no difference to this people. I have never felt so hopeless in my life. Stranded for hours for a service I already paid for. After about 3hrs of no positive outcome, I tried Enterprise, and all this was resolved in a jiffy. I received better customer service with them. Thrifty hasn’t made a refund for the 2days rental service I paid for, nor rendered any apologies for the inconveniences they caused me. Thrifty is a total waste of time and resources, i would never use this rental service again.

Taylor Steenblock: If you rent from here all I can say is check and recheck your charges before you leave with the car. I specifically said I did not want liability coverage with the car and was charged $20 a day for liability coverage anyway. Of course the customer service line never got me to a person to fix the issue because I didn't realize I'd been charged until I left the garage and had to Google what the neaky charge for LIS meant - spoiler alert it was liability coverage. I finally tried talking to someone when I returned and they refused to help with righting the wrong, saying they didn't make the rules. They just gave me the 1800 number again for customer service. I would have been better off paying the extra $20 for hertz and not getting scammed for $40 from Thrifty. Plus the car reeked of mold. Won't be getting a car from here again.

Deandre Donald: Wow! What a terrible experience with these people and this company in general. Worst customer service I've experienced in ages! The line was extremely long and they only had one employee working both the Dollar & Thrifty counter. Despite the fact that other employees were walking around on their phones. One of them identified himself as a manager and still didn't assist when the line was literally out the door! After waiting over an hour, they refused to honor my prepaid booking through Priceline because I had prepaid with my debit card and they would not accept it. I tried using my credit card but they refused it because it wasn't the card I prepaid with. I have never heard of this policy and neither had customer service, when I contacted them. I have rented from Thrifty and Dollar many times and have always prepaid with my debit card and put the hold on my credit card, as required. Customer service spoke to the "manager" and informed him of how to move forward with my reservation but he refused to try. They told him all he had to do was swipe my credit card but he refused. The employees on duty were all very rude to everyone I witnessed them encounter. This was between 9am - noon on May 27, 2022. I do hope Thrifty looks into this because these two men should not be representing any company, especially in a customer service role. Thrifty will never again get a cent from me.

Jonathan Kassebaum: Literally, the worst service. The gentleman at the counter is spending more time telling people where to stand than he did help people. There are 30 people in line and this one dude working

James Spanial: To begin with, when I went to pick up the rental, I had a fiasco of a time paying for it. I spent upwards of an hour trying to pay for a vehicle that I had reserved a month in advance when I was the only customer there. I asked about the damages to the car, and the employee working at the booth said that they had already been recorded. Then, after driving it for two days ( out of the seven I rented it for ), the windshield wiper snaps off while I'm driving on the highway, in heavy downpouring rain, in the mountains, blinding me. I managed to safely get myself and the car to an Advance Auto Parts store to buy a $30 wiper blade to replace it. I paid for it myself (which I had no problem doing) and put it on in the rain, only for it to immediately snap off again when I tested to see if it worked. That's when I noticed the back driver side tire was flat, so I called Thrifty. The employee told me, "if you can drive it to this airport near you, we can get you a new rental car." (Which was about 15 minutes in the opposite direction I was heading) I then proceeded to change the spare tire IN THE RAIN and slowly limped the car to a Toyota dealership since it was the closest auto shop. I couldn't go over five mph because I couldn't see where I was going. They took pity for me and took off the passenger wiper arm because the driver-side wiper blade was "Off track" In their words, so I could see going down the road well enough to get the car to the airport location. Then, you have the audacity to charge me $1250.00 for scratches and a small dent that I mentioned at the beginning before I ever took it off the property.

Thomas LeGrand: I rented a Thrifty car at Reagan National Airport for several days in early May. At the airport, there was an hour line in front of the Thrifty stand, versus maybe 5-10 minutes in front of the other car rental agencies. I told the rental agent that I already had full insurance, and he added in some insurance fees anyway. Upon my return home, I communicated with Thrifty about the problem and asked for a call back - they never called back. This is exceptionally bad service - I don't plan on renting from Thrifty in the future.

Nils Hünerfürst: Rented a car more than twice from the DCA Airport. They often have the shortest line and are always super fast. I would recommend to Plan your Route before your rent your car and maybe the EZ Pass is a value option for your trip. After the rent is complete your have to take the upper floor to get your car. Very easy and customer friendly.

kemuel murray: The worse experience ever. I tried to rent a car through Priceline two weeks before when I get there they tell me they don’t have any cars. This is after waiting in line for an hour with only two people in front of me. I understand staff shortages but that does not inhibit customer service.

Peggy Mangan: I could not have had a better experience with Enterprise. I ordered a 15 passenger van in Washington DC. It was immaculately clean when I got it. The process to get and return the van was so easy. Just a warning though if renting a 15 passenger van in at Reagan Airport. The van is 8 feet tall and it said the clearance to return the van is 7'2". It was very scary to go under that bar! Turns out it was just fine.

Aminah Imani: I rented a compact vehicle for two days. My experience was in and out. Make sure you do check your vehicle. Mine was not completely clean but it didn't bother me because it was the floors. They asked if I needed an ez pass which I appreciated. Very easy, no long wait and the staff was friendly and professional. I have no complaints and I will rent from this place again. Its best to have your own insurance, the cost was significantly high so if you can avoid this add on, I will suggest you do. Also choose a car that is good on fuel, gas was pricey in the area!

K Jay: My experience today: When you are not a “core customer”, and the car is not guaranteed to return to their location, the treatment is that you are given the least-of-the-fleet. I was in need of exchanging a rental and the only open location was at the airport. The reservation line was great and happy to arrange the exchange. When I conveyed to the representative at the airport location that the reservation exchange was for a standard sized vehicle, she made sure to let me know I could not be accommodated because that would be taking away from their core customers and especially when the vehicle is not guaranteed to return to the location. WOW! Everything ended with her saying “take care” as she was walking away. Unbelievable. One star is really too much.

Sasha Vliet: I rent vehicles all over the world and interact with staff in these locations on a regular basis. Cara Pitchford: The car was in perfect condition! We were invited to the new express delivery which made pick up of the car seamless. The return was just as easy. I do recommend documenting all dings on a rental car before driving off with it. Our vehicle was inspected upon our return. I showed the attendant my photos of the car when we picked it up and everything was smooth. Thanks to Enterprise for a non-stressful and affordable rental!

John Wildgrube: My experience with Enterprise could not have been more positive largely due to the customer service experience with Branch Rental Manager, Tyler Frye. Mr. Frye took the extra effort to ensure that I was checked-in efficiently and ensured that I had the right vehicle for my needs and experience. While I showed up somewhat short-tempered due to the challenges I had getting to the car rental garage (which had nothing to do with Enterprise), he was kind and forgiving of my frustrations and worked deftly to calm me and get me into a vehicle quickly. I also appreciated his follow up with me to make sure that all was well with my rental. Often people can make or break the experience one has with a company, especially when it's very competitive and price is not a differentiator. For me, Enterprises' decision to employ Mr Frye made all the difference and I will certainly be coming back (and refer Enterprise to all my friends and family).

I C: Enterprise just makes everything easy whenever I rent a vehicle. This is why I generally look for an Enterprise oppose to other places. I made a reservation, showed up after a 19hr flight, took like 5 minutes to pick it up and literally just dropped it off in the structure with the keys in the car and received my invoice the next day by email. I rented the cheapest car and it served perfect for what I needed. As long as they continue making things hassle free and invest in how to cut out red tape from the process, I'll always keep renting from Enterprise.

Matthew Daigger: This location is no longer in business. It is an abandoned Marriott but Hertz still allows reservations from it. Customer service was completely unhelpful in finding a replacement vehicle after leaving me stranded at an abandoned lot.

Lizzy Pond: This location is no longer there. It's an abandoned building. I was able to reserve a car online but there is nothing here.

Mary Ann Johnson: Horrible service; when I arrived to pick up the first rental car, he wouldn't unlock the door at first because I hadn't set up an appointment. My understanding was that the Crystal City location, who sent me there, had taken care of it. Then when he went to retrieve the car, I had to leave the office and sit on a table for about 20-30 minutes until he came back. The fun with Hertz didn't stop there. About two weeks later, the car's tire became shredded and when I limped to a stop (I had a job interview), it took three phone calls to get some help and they asked if I could change the tire. No tire or tire on or anything. After about an hour and 15 minutes a tow truck came, and off we went to Dulles. After jumping people in the line behind me ahead of me, it took almost an hour and a half to get a car--they were not pleasant and told me they didn't like to exchange cars from "private" Hertz offices at the airport. I don't care about their processes; I missed my second job interview that day because of them. Then when I found the replacement car, I had to find someone to show me how the seats worked; luckily, some random worker was passing by and after sighing loudly, showed me. Not pleasant at all.

Banu R: Horrible, incompetent person who is operating this office. Never answers, always says he doesn't have ANY cars available. Its a car rental place..if you don't have any cars, what good is this business?? I went through my insurance for reservation. Got a shitty car after waiting for a full day and numerous phone calls. The car got a malfunction light on the dashboard after a week. Guy never replaced the car, never answered calls. Had the insurance agent contact the location and he got hung up on 3 times after which the Hertz agent just stopped answering calls. Word of advice: NEVER RENT FROM THIS PLACE. HORRIBLE INCOMPETENT FOOLS RUNNING THIS PLACE.

A: Absolutely horrendous experience. I've rented many cars before but this was by far the worst quality and service. First I was taken inside a hotel into a room in the back where the office is. The car I had requested was the sole viehcle there, this any problems I may experience could not be fixed. So I got the keys, made my way through the hotel to the parking lot to make my way out with the car. Upon entering the car, it was clear the car was not cleaned. There were empty drink cans littered inside, the steering wheel was sticky, the gas tank was empty (while my receipt said otherwise). The longer I was inside the viehcle, the more disgusted I was. So I attempted to call the Hertz office, went back physically, there was no one there. Upon waiting 15 minutes next to the employee's car, he showed up. Once I explained him the situation, his response was, do you want me to clean it? Given there was no other car, I waited another 15 minutes for him to clean it up. He returned after vacuuming the car as best he could.

Mitchell Hamilton: Picked up in falls church with no problems, but dropped off closer to home at this location. I called to confirm that it was okay and got confirmation. When I dropped off the vehicle nobody was at the office (40 minutes before closing on a Saturday). I called again and was told to leave the keys under the door to the office as long as I was parked in a hertz spot. I received a call an entire month later saying I never returned my rental car and still don't have it all resolved. Terrible service, inefficient and dysfunctional business and terrible location. Will not be renting from Hertz again, especially not from this location.

James Bubnick: Wish I could give zero stars. I reserved a minivan for 9 am, went there for 9:10, wanted until 9:25, no one was there, called the number and was told they didn't have the vehicle. The gentleman said he tried to contact me in the morning but I did not have any missed calls or voice mail so I'm sure that is not true. He didn't know if a vehicle would be found, it was an absolute horrible experience. I would never rent from this location again. I just got off the phone from Hertz and they gave me a 20 dollar coupon. Overall it was the absolute worst experience I've ever had renting a vehicle, or lack of renting a vehicle. I had to have the minivan to move, had the loading dock reserved, and had to be out of the apt within the next 16 hours. I probably will never rent with Hertz again, or if I do never use a non airport location.

Morghen Rhodes: I wish I could leave 0 stars. They did not have any cars. When I asked if they could help find me a location that does, they said it was my job to find a location that does. 4 locations and 3+ hours with customer service later, I found a location that did. Only it was smaller than my original reservation. I spent 5+ hours of my life trying to get the car that I reserved when it should have taken 30 minutes. Horrible Horrible HORRIBLE customer service. I cannot express enough how ridiculous it is trying to get someone to help. The physical locations always tell you you have to call customer service. Customer service says you have to talk to the location. Online tells you you have to FB message them. Well I DID Facebook message them and they said they couldn't help until the reservation was closed. Now that the reservation is closed they tell me they can't do anything because services have already been rendered. What kind of messed up scam is this? Will never use Hertz again.

M.E. Francis: Typical Avis experience, although quite casual. No one was very friendly, and I wasn't given a chance to inspect the car. I was told it was already inspected and wasn't given any extra charges at the end, but it didn't feel very by the book. Also, guy helping me at the counter wasn't wearing a mask for pickup or drop off. You don't need to wear a mask all day but at least be respectful when customers come in.

Greg K: Reserved and prepaid a car for Sunday. Got a call Sunday morning that no cars were available and they couldn't honor my reservation. They also couldn't refund me.. I had to call another number for that. While looking up the other number to call (they didn't give it to me) I noticed I could still reserve a number of cars on their website for the same day as my reservation, even though they said they had no cars. They are either intentionally overbooking or their process is totally mismanaged. I can't risk a reservation being canceled and won't be back.

Michelle Rusk: Car was dirty and had only a third of a tank of gas when we picked it up. Plus maintenance required light kept coming on. No apology when we returned it and they threatened to charge us $250 to clean it because there was some dog hair on back seat when we returned. So we took it to car wash and spent 5 mins to vacuum it. Ridiculous. Will never use them again.

Sleevs M: I've been renting from this location for years. It used to be good a long time ago. I don't know what happened, but now it's really, really bad -- consistently terrible. Sometimes the customer service is awful, as happened last time I was there a few months ago. I was treated very rudely and the agent refused to acknowledge the existing damage on the car I was planning to rent, so I cancelled the reservation and walked out, having wasted an hour. Other times, the person behind the counter is perfectly nice but has no cars, as happened to me this week. I had decided to give them another chance after the abysmal service the previous time. I had a confirmation from Avis for a compact car and I arrived 10 minutes before my pickup time, whereupon I was told they couldn't honor my reservation because they had no cars -- even though the lot was full of cars. Those cars, the agent said, were for people who made reservations for tomorrow but made them before I made mine. Undoubtedly some of those folks won't show up, I pointed out, but "a bird in the hand" I guess isn't a meaningful aphorism at this location. While I was there, another customer came in who also had a confirmed reservation and he was also told they would not honor his confirmation. The agent -- who was perfectly kind & considerate, though unable to provide useful help to any customers -- repeatedly said this "happens all the time" at this location, they're always getting overbooked, and they can't count on the Avis central fleet keeping them stocked with as many cars as they need. "I make 10 calls a day cancelling people's reservations and I get cussed out a lot," is one of the things the agent said in explaining why we couldn't have the cars we booked. After the other guy left, having been denied the car he reserved, another person came in attempting to return a car (which I would have gladly taken, by the way) but he was turned away because, the agent said, the location was closed (it was a few minutes past the 7pm closing time) and doesn't do after-hours dropoffs. He was told to come back in the morning or go to another location. BEWARE. This location wasted my money getting there and wasted more than an hour of my time -- and this wasn't the first time this location has wasted hours of my time and a bunch of my money for nothing! I ended up having to go all the way to National Airport to get a car. DO NOT RESERVE A CAR FROM EITHER AVIS OR BUDGET AT THIS LOCATION! IT'S LIKELY THEY WON'T HONOR YOUR RESERVATION AND WILL WASTE YOUR TIME WITH NO RECOMPENSE. Update 22 May 2021: Above review was from early 2020. Failing to read my own earlier review, I tried this place again (Budget this time; same location as the Avis & same management) a week ago and they billed me $50 more than my reservation cost and it took significant time to get that resolved. I am now renting here once more (having apparently still not learned my lesson) and have been waiting outside for 25 minutes just to get in the door to get the keys to the rental car I reserved. The line behind me to get in is several customers deep so their wait times will be even longer than mine. In these two recent (2021) visits, the employees have been generally polite and courteous, just overwhelmed, perhaps in part because the place is consistently understaffed. So I can confirm that even post-pandemic this place is still shockingly bad at the car rental business.

Carol Bussey: They lost a customer over $5. I rented for 5 days, and called to ask about extending for 2 more. They have an incredibly high daily rate and a $10 charge to extend. I would up returning before the original due date/time. The $10 appeared on my bill, and I asked for it to be removed, since I did not use the extra time. I was told that they did extend the rental, so the charge stands and I actually was returning early. I asked again for it to be removed, because I did not want to pay for something I was not using. The agent credited back $5. I guess they really need the money. Meanwhile, beware of the charges that will appear on your bill.

Maria Bradham: The service was superb. Manager Daniela went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. The waiting time was minimum during checking in and checking out. The car I got was the car I requested ( many times is not the case). Overall the place was awesome, friendly and professional. I will definitely recommend it to friends. A happy customer.

Grace Jung: My friend & I came here to pick up our rental car and they gave the car away to a different customer with the same last name. We have been here for over 30 minutes now... probably will be here for another 30min. If you’re a patient person with a lot of understanding, this is the place for you. Update: Been an hour now
