Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center: what do users think?

Vincent Rigdon: Professional and caring.

Andrew Adelson: Waiting hours for medication to be delivered. Go elsewhere if you can. Apparently the pharmacist is not familiar with chemotherapy. Go figure.

Maria Antonieta Cabrera Mansilla Rodrigues: THE MEDICACION DELAYS TOO MUCH AND TO SCHEDULE IS HARD.THEY ARE CONFUSED.

Washington Cancer Institute: what do users think?

Obianuju Efobi: The nurses are very nice but the pharmacy takes so much time to get the infusion bag ready. You need to include 3hrs in addition to infusion time.

Larry Howard: Some of the finest clinicians and nurses in the country. Works with in house and remote specialists from around the country to tailor care for the individual patient. Inpatient facility shows it’s age but the chemotherapy ward has attracted and maintains a staff second to none. When your oncologist calls you on the weekend to discuss your latest test results, you know it’s not just a job and you aren’t just a number. Complaints? Slow WiFi and inpatient food is not the best. Billing never seems to sort out secondary insurance until the second try.

M Reaves: Old facility that I hope I never have to visit as a patient. Typical big city hospital that deals more with volume than high quality care. Doctors have too many patients to efficiently manage.

Virginia Cancer Specialists - Fairfax: what do users think?

P S: I go to their Reston office. Care and customer service has been consistently great. The lab technicians are extremely skilled.
Response: Thank you for leaving such a kind review! We feel privileged to be trusted with your treatment. We look forward to continuing to care for you throughout your healthcare journey.

Kimberly Parekh: Dr Denduluri is extraordinary as an oncologist. She has a high level of competence and is very knowledgeable about upcoming medications and clinical trials. She sits on ASCO and is very well connected with other influential oncologists. She also publishes research which is very unusual for an oncologist out of a research hospital. She is also very collaborative and willing to work with you. I once worked with her in changing the dose of a drug, based on information gleaned at a cancer conference. She is also extremely responsive. I hear many stories from other patients who do not have regular contact with their oncologist and that is definitely not the case with her. Cancer is not easy, but having her on my side makes it all the more manageable. I am very fortunate to have her as my oncologist.

songdreamer142: The personnel at Virginia Cancer Specialists have always been friendly and willing to help in whatever ways I have requested. The nursing staff, in particular, has been top notch in my view. The nurse practitioners are thorough and professional, the infusion nurses are knowledgeable and caring, and the research nurses are terrific.

deechuck: I had gone in for a blood test; Belinda drew my blood -terrific! Then I needed the aransep shot. New person, Gloria administered the injection -nearly painless! She is the best I’ve ever had! I would like her to be my nurse every time -yay!

Debbie Namugayi: The doctor was okay though the nurse recorded my medical history incorrectly. But it was really strange that after my appointment no one walked me back to the front desk, I was walking in circles and had to flag down a random person that looked like they worked there and tell them I was lost. It’s not a huge office but it’s still a maze to get out of, poor costumer service.
Response: Your feedback is very valuable to us and we appreciate you sharing this concern. Please know that a positive patient experience is extremely important to us and we take feedback like this very seriously. Our goal is to provide excellent patient care and customer service at every single visit. If you would be willing to discuss this in more detail with our team, please call our Executive Director, at (703) 208-9393.

Roman Berger: Went here back in June to get a genetic test done because my mother was diagnosed w breast cancer and was told that her children qualify for a test that would be fully covered by insurance. Three months later I get a bill for the full amount. Called my insurance and they said that VCS should have labeled this test as "preventative" and they did not. I called VCS multiple times and after about the tenth time, their biller picked up the phone and told me she will look into it. A month later, I still have not heard back and cannot reach them for the life of me. Got another "final" bill in the mail today. What a nightmare this experience has been. Mind you the only reason I took the damn test is because Dr. Reed said it was fully covered under ACA.

Kimberley Cetron: Long wait times, inconsistent care. Shout out to Janice who helped me with some very complicated scheduling this morning, nurse Christine, and Mildred in the lab. They make things easier:)

Shannon Lynne Turner: Very professional and kind physicians (especially Dr. Raymond Wadlow!) Awesome beverage service.

Inova Schar Cancer Institute (Dept of Fairfax Hospital): what do users think?

Josie “Girl Tech Mafia” Romero: Very nice staff and the office was clean but good has a facelift. It was not particularly notable and interactions with receptionist and doctor were fine but the patient coordinator/nurse truly stood Out. Very intelligent, even funny during a very difficult time in someone’s life and that is quite admirable!

Neveen Abel-Jalil: Have been a great facility throughout my 5 months treatment anywhere from the friendly staff, to clean bathrooms, to availability of supplies, and parking. Most significantly to note, is the wonderful nurses that have been nothing short of outstanding in their attention to detail, care, and knowledge. Wouldn’t be this positive or rested without them. I highly appreciate the work they do. Really recommend this facility.

Madelein Montes: While the Inova Schar cancer institute boasts an impressive new facility, new technologies and a comprehensive approach to cancer care, sadly it seems to have been at the expense of a commitment to quality patient care and attention. So far, the actual care and attention to existing patients has been disappointing. As someone who has a family member that has been receiving chemotherapy with Inova for over a year, the change in individualized patient care for us dramatically shifted once the infusion clinics and doctors offices moved to Inova Schar. Previously, the attention and care infusion patients would recieve was exceptional. From the friendly front desk staff, to the nurses and NPs who would stop into the room every few minutes to check up on patients and their families—the care and commitment to the patient was evident. Now, the same great nurses and staff are there, but sadly the increase in patient load has affected this once amazing patient care experience. The old infusion clinics would have about 15-20 rooms with patients to look after, but now, with the infusion floor at Schar, there can be easily 50 patients in rooms at one time. Sometimes you don’t even get a small room! You are put on a chair in the middle of the infusion clinic to receive your chemo. There is now less privacy, attention to detail, and care on the infusion floor. There is also an odd feeling of isolation throughout the halls and floors of Inova Schar; one that makes you feel increasingly like a number instead of a patient. The same lack of individualized patient care is seen when trying to do a simple task like trying to contact your medical team. Previously, patients could call their doctor’s office directly, easily speak to a nurse or get a call back. Now, calls are diverted to a call center first, and it is virtually impossible to speak with a nurse without a ridiculous hold time. Long gone are the days of simply calling your doctors main office or direct line to speak to someone. This beaurocratic process puts an unecessary burden on patients who are already going through so much and makes it easier for some to fall through the cracks. The smaller clinics and practices provided the quality of care one would expect a cancer patient to receive, but now, I’m not sure if that’s the same goal for Inova Schar, especially for existing patients.

TVI COMS: Completely inaccessible to persons who use public transit. The large facility is set back off Gallows and there are no sidewalks connecting the institute to Gallows. The drive off Gallows takes you through a wooded area. Those who don’t drive and have to use public transit cannot safely get to the buildings. Awful for those who are trying to stay active and independent by walking and taking the bus, or those who have no choice. INOVA did not put any bus stops in the facility and the 401 that runs off Gallows cannot be accessed because the long road has no accompanying sidewalks. Truly heartbreaking that Inova would exclude people from cancer treatment who rely off public transit or need to walk there. Clearly, this place is meant for those who only drive and not those of us who, due to our medical situation, cannot drive. Poorly planned and discriminatory. If you have to get radiation everyday, you will spend a lot on rides coming here. I ended up going to a different radiation facility about four miles from Inova that was accessible and my oncologist there said it is so important to get out and walk everyday. His office is on bus lines, with sidewalks to his building, and does not exclude those who don’t drive. Very sad Inova does not have the same mind set for equal access.

ermias merid: Beautiful building with enough parking space.

Susanna Crouch: Prestine new facility to launch in Q1/2 2019, campus is gorgeous and provides a truly cutting edge approach to cancer care. The CEO of the facility clearly has a passion for patients and a mission to provide innovative care with translational biomarker/genetics focus to direct treatment options. Patients can expect this facility to be a comprehensive approach with all functional capabilities on one campus (lab, imaging, surgery, genetics testing, office visits, patient navigation, specialty pharmacy etc)

Nadia Khokhar: The med assistants at this practice are great!
