The Rooftop DC: what do users think?

MEVR3E: Pricey but you get what you pay for. I like the ambiance— would recommend this spot to catch up w friends or couples. I felt comfortable spending a few hours here, and enjoyed the personalities and service of the bartenders. I will be back again to make use of the happy hour specials.
Response: Thank you for leaving a thorough and honest review!! We are a new bar and intend to keep on improving , feel free to email us with any suggestions at therooftopdc@gmail.com! Our happy hour is the best in the area!

JP Carnes-Stine: Such a great way to spend a lovely Friday night! Crystal was our server/bartender, and she could not have been more awesome! Perfect martinis, splendid and attentive service, and an overall sublime evening! Sure, it's a little pricey - but the pricing is consistent with other rooftop bars in the area, and the quality of the beverages, food, and service are totally worth it! We'll definitely be back!
Response: JP, thank you for leaving an honest and thorough review! Can’t wait to have you back soon!

Cree Smith: Came here for the first time, will not be returning. We sat, and it took almost 20 minutes to be acknowledged. The bartender was also the server. I ordered a MDW cheeseburger... it came out medium. I literally had less than the amount of fries in a McDonald's small fry... for $23. When I made mention of the fries, I was told "The bar back said they're not sending more fries". Fine! So... I ordered a side of fries. I get a McDonald's medium fry for check this out... a whopping $13! Yep... a whole $13! This will not be a return visit. I came. I saw. I'm not interested.
Response: We are sorry to hear you did not have a satisfactory time. We are a sports bar with bar service, not a restaurant— which is your bartender served you your food. We apologize for the burger not being cooked correctly, we would have made sure to re-make it if you had requested us to do so. Our prices are competitive with other rooftop bars. We are a new bar, and intend to keep on improving. Thank you for the feedback, and taking the time to leave your review.

J H: I gotta say, I really enjoyed my time here. Our table was always being checked in on, and the customer service was great. Reasonably priced drinks and nice deals. You can probably tell from the pictures that the atmosphere was amazing. It seems like they're fairly new (maybe a little over a year?) But they definitely know what they're doing.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to write your honest review J.H! Our staff is very experienced and strive to make everyone’s visit a worthwhile one. See you again soon!

Epic Work: Nice setup and ambience aesthetic wise but bartender service is trash with non friendly attitudes. Therefore management of it is trash for allowing it. They walk back and forth ignoring you as if they have better things to do even with only 2 people there. Not ever again

Lindsay Peters: The view and atmosphere was great for an early spring day! There is limited seating at the rooftop edge. The prices are slightly higher though happy hour cocktails are 50% off (4-7pm). I had the pork tacos and they were super delicious. There is an automatic 20% gratuity applied.
Response: Thank you Lindsay for taking the time to leave a review! Come back for our new 50% off happy hour on Sundays from 1PM to 7PM!

Zahra Amiji: Literally the worst rooftop experience of my life. Went during the so called "happy hour" where drinks are supposed to be 50% off and was charged full price for multiple drinks ($18+). Also, had to wait 45 minutes to be served at the bar. Would not recommend this rooftop at all. Try a different place for a better DC experience.
Response: Zahara was refunded** Hello Zahara, so sorry to hear of this mistake. We would like to make this right— please email your name to therooftopdc@gmail.com so we can correct your bill. We are a new bar and intend to keep on improving. We are making sure there will not be a long wait in the future. Thank you for letting us know, once again we would like to make this right.

Daniel X. Bandong: Great vibe! Staff was very attentive and a great menu. Had a great work Happy Hour with a fantastic space. However, no beers on draught; hopefully that changes soon!
Response: Love to hear you enjoyed our staff and overall vibe! Hope you and your coworkers come again soon! Thank you for the recommendation, we are a new bar and intend to keep on improving!

3z M: Lovely bar , nice service, thanks guys
Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and pics! Come again soon!

Jay Black: The late night menu is fries, wings, and popcorn. Buffalo sauce and ranch on the side. That wasn't worth it when I came in hungry.. So I got two cocktails for over 40 bucks. The service was less than stellar, but what you'd expect for a gratuity included spot. The location is nice and the bar is very nice inside. The drinks were really good too. The did a good job fixing up the Rogue (if you know, you know).
Response: Thank you for your review Jay! Come back for our 50% off happy hour from 4-7PM! That’s $6 rail drinks :) we are a new bar and intend to keep on improving!

Rosewood Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

C. Pine: Best hotel in Georgetown. I love the charm of this hotel right in the heart of everything. The friendliest staff and impeccable service and luxurious accommodations while steps away from shopping and more dining options. The library/reception area is a cozy and elegant pace for a nightcap or to lounge. The rooftop offers a fantastic view of the cityscape and is a great for private functions or if you need a peaceful place to hang out.
Response: Dear C. Pine: Thank you very much for this delightful review! We look forward to having you back with us in the near future! Sincerely, Rosewood Washington, D.C.

Mandy Jacqueline: The Lobby Bar in the Rosewood was amazing. Great service and wonderful drinks if you’re looking for high-class
Response: Dear Mandy: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted you enjoyed your experience and look forward to having you back with us. Sincerley, CUT DC and Rosewood Washington, D.C.

Shana Acquisto (Luxury Realtor): Stopped in for a drink on the rooftop. Beautiful atmosphere. Drinks were pricey and honestly a bit too much sugar for our liking but some may prefer that. Very friendly staff once we got up to the rooftop and great service.
Response: Dear Shana Acquisto: Thank you for your kind review of CUT Above and for your honest feedback. We have shared this with the team. We look forward to having you back with us soon. Sincerely Rosewood Washington, D.C.

Jay Gif: Staff were friendly and helpful. Valet offered to keep Tesla charged overnight which was great! The room was THE quietest hotel room we've ever stayed in (no HVAC noise at all). Bed was comfortable, bathroom nice although some paint bubbling in ceiling. The rooftop spa and bar looked amazing but too cold to enjoy. Deducted a star for value, was very expensive and just didn't quite deliver what I felt it should at that price...
Response: Dear Mr. Gif: Thank you for your kind review of our hotel, much appreciated! I have made note of your comments and am grateful for those. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance in the meantime. Sincerely, Gabor L. Vida Managing Director Rosewood Washington, D.C.

Tania Ferguson: The Rosewood DC is remarkably disappointing. More expensive than comparable rooms at the Ritz or Four Seasons, there are essentially no luxury amenities. The pool is the size of two hot tubs. Sadly, Cut the restaurant had a kitchen fire and therefore there is no way to get anything to eat at the hotel. I had to go grocery shopping. They did not offer any discount for this inconvenience. The did make the minibar complementary except for liquor….and there is essentially nothing to eat in the minibar. The room is incredibly small and the bathroom hard to manage in its size. The “partial canal view” is just a brick wall. One must stand to look out the window if water is to be seen-and only then with great focus. More accurately this is a brick wall view. There is no spa, the fitness facility is smaller than a bathroom with no modern equipment in it except a single peleton bike with bad pedals. The fitness facility is a really big disappointment-I’ve had to find a gym to go work out at. So I’ve had to leave the premises for food, workout, spa services….It’s a travesty to the Rosewood brand. They should close the hotel and renovate, modernize-or drop the prices to reflect the current facade.
Response: Dear Ms. Ferguson: Thank you for posting your thoughts about your recent stay with us. I am very sorry that it did not meet your expectations. We, too, are very sad that the incident in the kitchen has resulted in us not being able to occupy that space and provide the In-Room Dining you were hoping for - we hope to have this matter rectified shortly. I do hope that you enjoyed the complimentary breakfast we had set up in the lounge for all our guests. I also hope that the fresh fruit bowls that we delivered to you helped the situation. The room you occupied (about 420 square feet) does have unobstructed views of the canal, I believe the brick wall to which you are referring is the exterior wall of the building on the opposite side of the canal. As you know, there is no reference to a spa on our site but we do offer in-room massage services - one of which was offered to you with our compliments. We shall review the verbiage regarding the fitness center but the listing of equipment on the page is accurate. Overall, I am sorry that we didn't meet your expectations and hope that the reduction of your room rate that was offered helped to ease this a bit. I hope we have the chance to welcome you back in the near future and be able to deliver the experience you expect. Sincerely, Timothy Edgecombe Director of Sales

Mohsen: Enjoyed one week of stay at this hotel. Everything was perfect and felt personal. Fantastic staff.
Response: Dear Mohsen: Thank you so much for your kind comments - it was fantastic having both you and your fellow travellers with us. I sincerely hope we can welcome you back in the very near future! Sincerely, Rosewood Washington, D.C.

Kelly Smith: Great hotel. Near everything in Georgetown. Service is amazing. Nicest place in the area.
Response: Dear Ms. Smith: Thank you very much for your lovely review of Rosewood Washington, D.C. We sincerely hope we have the chance to welcome you back in the very near future. Sincerely, Timothy Edgecombe Director of Sales

Andrew Carmichael: Amazing hotel experience in a wonderful part of DC. It’s a smaller hotel that does a stellar job of balancing the finesse of a larger hotel with the intimacy of a boutique one. The team remembers everyone’s name and does to whatever they can to make your stay a memorable one.
Response: Dear Mr. Carmichael: Thank you very much for this wonderful review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the intimate experience that makes "The Gem of Georgetown" such a favourite among its guests. We hope to welcome you back in the near future. Sincerely, Rosewood Washington, D.C.

Lisa Morin: This lovely, small hotel was well located in Georgetown. The room was nice, quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The service from all staff was exceptional. They attended to every detail to make our stay a great one!
Response: Dear Ms. Morin: Thank you for your kind review of our hotel, much appreciated! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance in the meantime. Sincerely, Gabor L. Vida Managing Director Rosewood Washington, D.C.

Addison Muska: Spacious room with good lighting. Pleasant stay with friendly staff and quality amenities. Location is close to all major sights and places. Would stay again
Response: Dear Addison, Thank you for your kind review of our hotel, much appreciated! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance in the meantime. Sincerely, Gabor L. Vida Managing Director Rosewood Washington, D.C.

Players Club: what do users think?

Its Me Jessica: This place was so fun. Definitely old school pinball machines, pool tables, board games you name it they had it! Great time I will be back!

Jeremiah Skopp: Now I understand that some of what I'm about to say is conjecture but several other reviews as well as word of mouth at other local bars seem to back it. I had a brief experience with the door person whom was incredibly rude as I spoke to her dead sober mind you. I understand there are certain covid requirements which I would have been happy to follow had she not been so rude. I did not argue nor was I rude with her. I simply said I will go and get the required items from my vehicle instead I just left never to return. This was my first experience with this bar and definitely my last. She had an incredibly short condescending tone and way about her in general. I can see by the lack of business responses in the comments that this business really doesn't care so here we are. Replace your door staff is my only recommendation as I hadn't gotten to enter the establishment.
Response: Hi Jeremiah. Thank you for your feedback. We very much do care. Moving forward, we will ask our door person to be extra courteous. Thanks again!

Leonard Ferguson: It has the basement smell and feel of... Early 90's late 70's all 80's video games, pinball machines and coin operations. Pool Tables, Aww Skeet Skeet ball and Foosball. House beers, and board games. Records and Movie posters on the wall that make you feel at home. Order some Evelyn Champagne King for your crew.

Ellie Somers: Don’t recommend. Staff is rude and condescending. Drinks are eh at best. The only thing they have going for them is the rooftop and that’s only worth it if the weather is nice. Wouldn’t go out of my way for this place when there are MUCH better bars in the area. And if you’re going for the games, there are better places for that too. Definitely would skip this one.

Tim Jenks: Come for a bar or billiards, not for the arcade. Bar service was typical, no complaints there, and they have 3 billiards tables with ample room around them. The arcade portion was very underwhelming though. Very few machines, the pinball one I chose needed maintenance because the ball got stuck multiple times, and the machines are a confusing mix of accepting bills or quarters.

Tom: Charging full dollar for pinball that doesn’t work. Lock bar on black knight is off, shield doesn’t work, GNR has zero ball save, and Iron Maiden doesn’t even have working coin slots. Dollar pinball is fine if it’s in working condition. Until then, Stay away. Stay far away.

Alexis Faciane: We enjoyed it. I do wish there were just a few more games but the atmosphere was great and we still balled out on the games they did have. I'd say definitely worth a visit

ciara d: Fun place to drink and play games with your friends. Cool date on calmer nights . They used to have a window to order shake shack through but I’m not sure if that is still available.

Official Godiva: I really love the nice 70s vibe here. The drinks are nice but it would be great if they had a wider selection of cocktails. I would definitely visit again.

Addy Adds: Racially targeted. I was the target of racial discrimination by several black males who worked when I visited on March 4, 2022. I was followed by one INTO the restroom as he watched me urinate. They claimed I was "too drunk" to be there before FOUR of them escorted me out. A bar with 200 people drinking and after two drinks I was "too drunk". Terrible, racist establishment.

Sauf Haus Bier Hall: what do users think?

Jessica Dalzell: The pretzel and beer were delicious and all I really went for… but definitely a very clubby vibe for a “beer garden”… deafening EDM started by 2:00p.. but who needs to talk when your mouth is busy eating and drinking?

Aly Whitaker: All the signs, inside and outside (why we came in) say that it’s happy hour. When I asked the bartender, she told us AFTER pouring our beers and taking our card that they “don’t have a happy hour.” Plus, the tab came with a 20% service charge. $25 for 2 beers and a cup of regret.

Brayden Heim: Me and my friends went here last Saturday after a very disappointing brunch somewhere else. The staff was very friendly, and helpful, and took our orders quickly. Drinks and food were both great, with decent prices. The DJ played a great mix of music and we all had a great time. Would definitely recommend!

Rebecca Boulanger: Wow, this place is a VIBE! Came here not really knowing what to expect as there wasn’t a super long line out the front like the other bars but this one was honestly our favorite of the night! The upper level was playing throwbacks all night and the song choice was great and kept us out until 2am. Definitely a hidden gem in DC and would recommend!

Kevin Lo: Love this place! Had a horrible experience at a nearby brunch spot with some friends and decided to search up a local bar. Wait time was under 5 mins to get in. Upstairs, it was good music, clean environment, and AMAZING service by the bar staff. We were served immediately and the bartenders even make recommendations dependent upon my past order. 100% would return if I am in DC again.

Pascal Gloor: Hi John, it was a real honor to meet you. your place is amazing and so authentic (especially the benches haha). keep up the good work. Cheers from Solongo and Pascal

Joshua Bradley: Music was way too loud to enjoy. Could not hear or socialize with anyone in my group (even the person sitting 1 ft away). Multiple people from my party asked the DJ to turn the music down and they turned it up. We moved to a different part of the venue where the music was quieter and after 30 minutes, the volume there was also turned up to deafening levels. This was a Sunday afternoon…not club hours (midnight) on a Friday. For anyone interested in taking a date here, you’re better off going somewhere else where you can actually hear everything being said.

Sabrina Mendoza: Great chill place They are very mindful of COVID and have areas to direct traffic one way to get to the tables and for guests to go to the restroom Very clean Great staff that helped with suggesting beers

Becca Anderson: Really cool beer hall on the 3rd floor with tons of great German beers. The skylights make it nice to go during the day, you feel like you're outside without having to worry about impending rain. I think the bartender may have given us a different beer than one that we ordered, but they were all still great!

Renee von Behren: Tasty beers in a rooftop location that can’t be beat. Definitely a German beer hall feel. You can even order a liter of beer here. I recommend the Hofbrauhaus Hefeweizen. Enjoy!

Service Bar DC: what do users think?

Elias Chelala: Awesome location with a cool vibe. They have an enormous selection of cocktails and delicious food. Make sure to try their spicy fried chicken sandwich which is very juicy and crispy. If you plan on visiting make sure to bring proof of vaccination. The prices are reasonable for the area and the service was decent! I will visit service bar again!

Kara Clark: Small bar with great food and drinks. Fried chicken sandwiches are stacked and cooked perfectly with seasons. Drinks menu are listed from light to strong. I do wish the food options was more but overall happy with the pick! Drinks absolutely great! Your bill will add up however, it was a bit pricey but overall great food. The bar is a bit small but they have outdoor eating areas as well.

Besart Ç.: Epic spot. Went for friend's birthday. The bar looked just like any other casual DC bar. But once you order your first drink, you quickly realize this is one of the best cocktail bars in DC. Their drinks are phenomenal: liquid nitrogen, fresh ingredients, top tier alcohol, and amazingly talented bartenders. On that note, the bartenders were absolutely awesome lads! Loved chatting with them. They even gave us free shots for our friend's bday. Looking forward to next time guys! (Too sad I was too focused on drinking the cocktails so I forgot to take some pics, but these are some snaps from a video)

Monica R S: The fried chicken is soooooo good! Food was overall delicious. The old fashioned was good. Service was good too. We sat outside and it was sufficiently heated.

Rebecca Kaufman: One of my favorite places to get cocktails in DC. They have such a great and wide selection of different specialty cocktails with plenty of different liquor options to choose from. They also always have seasonal options that change often as well as a great selection of small bar foods.
Response: 🤘🏼

Lani: Casual bar with good drinks. You can only sit 1 hour and 30 mins. The food was about a 6/10, we got burgers and mozzarella balls.

Kelly Wiley: What a great little place with excellent drinks and food! Cullen was super knowledgeable about the menu items and the specifics of each drink! They have stellar homeade ginger beer!
Response: 🙌🏼

Mark Orebiyi: On the search for the best Fried Chicken Sandwich in the DMV my team and I came across Service Bar. I highly recommend this restaurant. They are known for their cocktails but this sandwich was devine. Solid portion as well (fries come separately). I would put them in my top 5 (and this was our 21 place). Our server, Cullen, was extremely informative and accommodating. I will be back.

Saminda Wijegunawardena: Really dope spot. Tons of character, and characters. Provocative cocktails, tempting bites.Great decor and art. It's got all the NW vibes.

Blake Arrington: Good drinks and great chicken The fried chicken meal is the best bang for you buck coming with 3 sides and 2 chicken thighs for $20, I definitely recommend it Make sure you try the original fried chicken. The Nashville hot is good but not as good as the original which has a honey glaze. The atmosphere is a very bar feel inside. If you sit outside they did a good job of turning the street into a nice seating area but it is very loud with cars driving past Would come again to just get the chicken to go

Whiskey Charlie: what do users think?

A Sabbagh: A very cool rooftop bar just overlooking the marina! The vibes were amazing, staff super friendly and prompt. We were a group of 7 and we just walked in (first come first serve). The views are amazing! They serve a quite good variety of drinks with not so much options of food as it’s not a restaurant, but we had flatbread pizza, marinated olives, ahi tuna salad and they were great. Recommended!

Michelle Torres: I will start by saying this penthouse bar has a beautiful view of the Potomic River and the Wharf Marina. This alone, and the company I was with made my time at Whiskey Charlie very enjoyable. Although the bar, and view were both lovely there wasn't much space to enjoy the bar. It was a very small conservative area that just happened to be a little loud and crowded during my visit there. It was more open, and less crowded on the patio, but some of the guest were very boisterous, and at moments overwhelming. It had somewhat more of a club feel than a luxury bar experience as far as guest were concerned. I would have loved to have been offered more options in alcohol beverages, and a few more fire pits would have been a nice touch. There were only two fire pits among the guest there. You will definitely be sharing your space, and time with the other people visiting the bar, so your visit there may be more of a social experience than personal time with your partner or guest. FYI: The first pic was taken before other guest had arrived.

Nicole Manuel: Stunning view! They did not have all the Whiskey/ drinks listed on their menu, honestly their selection was much smaller than advertised. The price of their cocktails was surprising as they used very cheap Whiskey / general alcohol. The staff were great, and they helped navigate the lacking menu. There are very few seats, but again, for the view it's worth standing room only!

Corrin Fleming: Delicious mezcal cocktail and a lovely view! Friendly, skilled bartenders. A nice place to stop after the theater.

Katze Love: This is a fun rooftop bar with a beautiful view. The drink menu had a lot of variety and the food was good. Not a ton of food choices but that’s because it’s primarily a bar, not a restaurant. We got wings, flatbread pizza, marinated olives, and cheesecake. All very delicious! Cool spot to grab food and drinks after a day on a boat :)

Caroline H: Okay so this place has a nice view and the staff were very nice and fast. But the drinks were lacking, I'm not a liquor connoisuer but the tequila in my friend's drinks tasted very odd. The food was basically Applebee's. The nachos were $14 and were supposed to have pico de gallo - that "pico" on there is clearly Pace salsa. Every chip was smothered in Daisy sour cream and the cheese was minimal. Jalapenos were probably Heinz. The two flatbreads ($16) I think I saw at Little Caesars the other day. Overall negative food and drink, positive view and ambience.

Andrew Harmon (Werd69): Nice rooftop hotel bar. It's located in the Canopy by Hilton by the Wharf. Friendly staff, good drinks, great scenery and delicious snacks.

Casey: Absolutely loved coming here! The drinks were fantastic and the bartenders were so kind and helpful. It is self seat and first come first serve, which I loved. Beautiful views of Virginia and the Potomac river. Definitely would come back here again ☺️

Sincere Johnson: The view from the rooftop is beautiful. Great vibe, good food, good drinks.

pooria riahi: This bar in my opinion has one of the top ten rooftops in DC. The view to the wharf waterfront and beyond is amazing. You can catch a nice sunset here. As far as the quality of food and cocktails go, this place serves you something good. The prices however are above average in DMV area.

Top of the Yard Rooftop Bar & Bites: what do users think?

M Last: Rooftop bar. Small food selection of mostly expected bar offerings and has appetizers if you just want to nibble. Does have good views including those of the ball park. I decided to go to 1st base with the chicken tenders, upgraded to tots and a Pepsi. Friends did the dogs with tots. Pretty normal offering of toppings with the dogs - ketchup, mustard, onions (raw red) and sauerkraut. They thought the dogs were good and the tots were yummy. My tenders were actually very nice, super fresh and crisp- upon seeing my food and tasting a bite, they wish they'd have picked tenders too. I wasnt as thrilled with my tots, finding them slightly undercooked and seasoned. Overall we are satisfied. It being on the top of our hotel was the deciding factor that got us to choose it after walking the Smithsonian for hours. We both thought the Pepsi was a little odd tasting, but as an out of towner, I put this down to the tap water - however my friend got a glass of h20 and I tried it - hardly any "taste" at all....so I have no idea what's up with the soda. Edited for typing and clarity.

Aavery Mundt: Fun bar with limited views of the baseball field. Mostly it shows views of the parking garage above. Small food selection of hotdogs but a decent rotating tap selection.

William Cogswell: Absolutely fantastic place to hang out and watch a game. Food is ok, ball park style, definitely not a "dinner" place, but looking for a hot dog and a cold beer while you hang on a roof deck and watch a game?? This IS the place!!

David Zeledon: Mediocre drinks with an amazing view of the Potomac, the Nats stadium and the city.

Pat Healy: WHAT A JOKE! This place has an INCREDIBLE view of the stadium and could have a decent atmosphere. We attempted to make a reservation online before going up, but even when we tried even a wide range of times, it informed us they were booked. We decided to take our chances. (this was late night, hours after a game was finished) There are probably less than 20 tables to begin with. The solo waitress made a big deal that we had no reservation even though half the tables were open. Allowed us to sit at a table if we were going to be less than 45 min. Fine. You must order EVERYTHING through and app and you are forced to give a minimum tip of 18%. Im usually a big tipper, but based on service, I would have only given 10%. I ordered via the app. After about 10 minutes of noticing, the server, bartender and cook standing around, I mentioned to the server that I ordered drinks and food. They realized their Wifi was down and did not receive my order. While being there for around 45 min, at least 5-6 other parties came up and went through the same process as us. They told the server they tried to reserve a table. She allowed most to have a table if they were going to be quick. Food was ok (comes in a prepared box that has probably been sitting in a warmer. Drinks were good but way overpriced (which is typical, I know.) The only positive was we got to see a good view of the stadium and the music was good. Will not be back.

Jeff Torre: A great view of the Washington Capitols ball park, and surrounding area

Shelby Kennedy: A really beautiful view. We found this place because my friends wanted to sit at a quiet rooftop bar and have American food. This place fit the bill. Go in the hotel and hit the top floor button. A simple menu of solid standards--pizza, salad, hot dogs. The beer is cold. Nothing fancy, but very peaceful. A cool view of the Nationals ballpark. You can watch the planes fly into Reagan. Nice memories.

Darryl Diamond: Great view of the park and the navy yard. Decent prices (it's still a hotel bar) but Danny and the bar staff rock!

Jimbo: It's a bar. Limited food offerings, typical pub grub stuff. Drinks are so-so. Nice views of DC though. Sort of a place to unwind during the evening after spending the day exploring the city.

Angela Shopper - Wingman Realty: Tried to book on their 3rd party app which is just clickbait.. those appts aren't really available Then it says not available to book "online" so you call the restaurant and they refer you back to open table When explaining that it doesn't allow booking online she got very sparky attitude. They apparently have so much business that they don't care about customer service. If they don't care when taking the reservations then I can only imagine the experience. I'll have to only imagine it actually Because I won't ever be going there

The Rooftop at The Ven at Embassy Row: what do users think?

farida popal: I was there on Saturday the 25th. We wanted to go to the rooftop bar. As soon we were at main entrance, the door man greeted us and guide us. When we went to the bar the atmosphere was nice. The drinks were a bet pricey and bar food was great! I’ll defiantly go again.

chrisy edme: The stay was wonderful! The staff at the front desk are amazing ! Specially Lyle at the front desk, he was just a sweetheart to us. We booked our stay prior to them implementing the daily amenity fee. He waived it off of our stay and informed us that he will be more than happy to still provide the perks ! We received some sent sachet of jasmine and lavender which were amazing :) In addition to that he provided us with late check out because our flight was later in the afternoon. He also gave us some great tips of how to get around since it was our first time in DC. Also my room was provided with daily housekeeping and my housekeeper was just a sweetheart too but forgot her name unfortunately. My only Con was the bathroom size, as it was super small and there was no ventilation.

Kimberly “ ” Watson: Excellent! Love the space! The art exhibit in the hotel was wonderful!

D Nguyễn: This bar on the top of the hotel with a pool has a nice view of the city. Not that DC has much of a skyline. The pool is nice to relax after a day of exploring the museums. We went during the day for a couple drinks during Pride. We also came back in the evening before dinner for pre-drinks. It wasn't crowded. A couple people in the pool. The bar as a selection of food and cocktails. The bar service was friendly. Drinks are about what I expect from a hotel roof bar.

Neil Osment: Our review is split between the cocktail bar and the rooftop bar.....because the rooftop is actually closed for the season!! Not very helpful that this fact isn't advertised on Google or TripAdvisor by the hotel. However, the cocktail bar is very good, and Jorge (The Guru from Peru!!) is excellent. Friday evening (10/20/17 USA not GMT!) in the main bar was lively, vibrant and a great place to be 😊

Don Robinson: The bartender said it was a "soft opening" for the season. The drinks were very limited. No regular Red Bull (but lots of flavors of Red Bull), no Coke- only Pepsi, and not diet, and many other limitations. He gave us a free drink because he started to make the Jack and diet Pepsi but couldn't finish when he realized no diet Pepsi. The service was very good, and presumably they will have more options when they "really" open. The rooftop area was pretty basic, as I expected from the reviews, but the views of the city were nice. You could hear a little of the street music from Dupoint occasionally. This is not a destination, but was a great hour stopover between dinner and our Improv comedy show.

jo n: Visited on a Saturday late afternoon. When the bartender was asked about happy hour he claimed there wasn't one. Although the sign at the hotel lobby clearly stated there was one from 4-7pm. Based on quality, the drinks are super overpriced. The rooftop itself is small, an okay view. Don't waste your time visiting.

Reuben Wauyo: This is a beautiful venue and would seem to be all great but terrible customer service. Called for a reservation and information on restaurant and was referred to main line. To which someone picked up after I waited on hold, heard me then hung up. This is the most disrespectful and frustrating thing I can think of when trying to get things set for events. Calling back no one picks up and I have now been calling main line for 30 minutes to be assisted and again no one to answers. You would have to be crazy to work with these guys on anything important for you will receive absolutely no clarification or answers on any questions you have. I was very surprised to even see positive reviews at all. I really hope it’s an isolated event, but if I can help anyone else not deal with my issue I’ll be glad to steer you away and onto another location. I will update with location and name after my reservation is set with our new venue. Also to be noted, not even the central main line can reach these guys and are unwilling to even try. I believe we’ve definitely dodged a bullet.

Walter Hunt: Friendly staff , great location, very accommodating

Ariel Abramson: Nice view and plenty of seats, but they close early and there isn't much of a drink selection. My beer selection tapped out the keg but the nice bar server gave it to me at no charge.

Vue Rooftop: what do users think?

Elizabeth T.: Awesome location for a rooftop - only issue is that the best views are by the standing bar which seems to be an odd placement considering the food is expensive and you would think that they would seat more people by the windows. Drinks are on the pricier side with beer starting at $11. We ordered the burrata and lobster mango to start - by far the highlight of the meal. For dinner I got the lamb burger and it was okay but I’ve had better.

Elliott Schellinger: The views of the Washington monument are absolutely unparalleled from the booth at the Vue Rooftop. This was my first time at the establishment and I must admit I am quite impressed. The staff and the management were extremely accommodating, even though our demands were somewhat obnoxious. They were willing to open up the private dining area just for the two of us, and let us experience the D.C. skyline at its absolute best. The food was quite delicious. The appetizers in particular were truly scrumptious; “calamari” and “Parmesan fries” are the absolute must, along with the “olives and bread” starter. The must have cocktail for me was the “power to peaches”, divinely smooth and summery fresh. All-in-all, it was a perfect bon-voyage evening before we headed back to NYC. Thanks to the staff and the management for wrapping up our Washington D.C. visit in a ribbon with a luxurious bow on top.

JR Franks: Definitely worth checking out for the views of the WH and Mall, and the rooftop itself is quite spacious with a good amount of seating. The drinks were (unsurprisingly) on the pricier side so I probably wouldn’t come back often. Didn’t try the food but the burgers looked excellent, I’d probably try one if/when I come back.

Pat S: We had a table of 13 guest for a dinner party. My calamari was hard and overcooked my entree the seafood linguine was distasteful. Our entire table didn’t enjoy their entrees. Beautiful views of the White House and Mall, and the rooftop it’s spacious with a good amount of seating and upscale. Good vibes and ambience for drinking and dance only, dine somewhere else. The drinks were on the pricier side my cocktail was $22, overall so I probably won’t come back as often.

Robert Klara: Eggs Benedict was divine 🏽 Mimosas were definitely key 🥂 You can't beat the ambiance and the view. Reservations required for brunch and dinner. Worth the experience.

JD: This is a great spot for the social fare and view. It was packed on a Tuesday evening. Food was okay. Service okay. Drinks are great. Service gratuity is included in your bill, so tip extra when warranted

Robert Chang: If you want a great view of the White House, definitely check out this bar. Definitely worth spending the price for a drink just to check out the view. The drinks are definitely on the pricier side and my Old Fashion was a tad small but once again, the view was worth it.

PGAmos: Fantastic view. The White House is hidden because of the trees but I’m sure it’s in plain view during the winter. I attended an event and everything I ate was tasty. The drinks weren’t bad either! I’ll be adding this to my list for out-of-town folks to visit.

Susan FG: Food was great, as were service and views. One drink from the outdoor bar was not good, indoor bar drinks were definitely better. We still had to wait about 20 minutes for our table but that was not too bad

Christopher king: The view was pretty great. I ordered the lobster and rice because the bartender recommended it. The presentation was great but it tasted really dry. My friend got the crab cakes and those were delicious! Dont get the rice, it’s not worth $54. Probably wouldn’t visit again.

Ellipse Rooftop Bar: what do users think?

Morris Jones: The good - This is a nice place to enjoy time with a friend...great views. Food offerings were on par for a roof top bar. The "beef" - The bar area is small...enough for hotel guests to enjoy and groups of two. The bar size and the bar service are not satisfactory for handling a group or a table with more than 3. Do not go expecting table service (none). You must go to the small bar to order everything...paying for a table or a round of drinks was a challenge. Paying for a $40 shot of whiskey served in plastic glassware (?)...I did enjoy my table guests, the view and the weather. I expected better service...

Donovan Craig: Nice rooftop with a bit of a view, the atmosphere was very relaxed, just wish they were open to the public more as we saw multiple days where they were closed for private events.

Rich Opalinski: Weather was perfect while we stayed, both bartenders were attentive, great views

M planetmike: (Update 2022 June) Arrive early if you want a seat. Conveniently located to McPherson Square. There is a happy hour. However due to its relatively small footprint and its connection to the hotel it is often reserved and unavailable. Recommend calling ahead to verify it is open. It is a refreshing spot on summer days.

Casey D: Drink selection wasn't that impressive. View was nice but we left after one drink. Was a bit crowded too, a party was talking up a lot of seat space but weren't actually sitting there. If we were starting at this hotel I may go back if I didn't have plans but not otherwise.

Rachel Cipkins: Perfect place to unwind after a day at the national mall

Adara Ney: A perfect place for an after work drink to watch the sunset and soak up nice weather. Great for group events too! I hosted a team happy hour with 20-30 and had a great experience. Great food (and prices!) on the catering menu and Brittany did a fantastic job coordinating the event.

David Cuevas: they never used real tequila on my tequila cocktai, I got a headache before I finished it.

Brenda-renee Vance: I enjoyed myself. The bartender was amazing. My drinks was good beginning to end.

Mike Rucki: Overpriced drinks, very limited bar selection, and not enough bartenders on a cramped rooftop. A decent view earns an extra star, but I cannot recommend this spot.

Top of the Gate: what do users think?

Alvaro H. Torres: Amazing view and I would highly recommend it. The sunset was amazing and the food was delicious. I had a memorable experience and enjoyed it spending it with my wife and first born. If you are in the DC area, this is a must stop for the Watergate scandal and for the rooftop bar.

Austin Graff: Top of the Gate is the quintessential D.C. experience. On the rooftop of the Watergate Hotel, there's history (Watergate Scandal) and rooftop views. After going for drinks on a Thursday evening, here's my experience: 1) Space: Walk through the Watergate Hotel lobby and take the elevator to the top floor. The rooftop is spacious with tables, couches, etc. It's a great place for drinks or a date night. 2) Views: 360 views of the area, you can see Georgetown, the Washington Monument, Rosslyn, etc. Go when the sun is setting after a good rain. The sky s stunning! 3) Drinks/Food: They aren't bad. It won't win awards, but it's decent enough, making it a fun spot for a happy hour or dinner.

Adam Galazka: Amazing views at night. Service was great. Drinks were great as well. Definitely a little pricey on drinks but probably expected in a hotel. It did close at 1115 on a Friday which seemed a little early for a Friday night. We will definitely come back.

Claus R B: The view of this place is just AMAZING! Perfect for special occasions, we had a wonderful lady helping us to choose the appetizers and she was right...the shrimp is great and if you are hungry order the pizza. Drinks are expensive but worth it.

Zeeshan E: Booked a table for 3 a few months in advance to make sure we get a good view as we expected experience. The issues are simple but shocking. Started a boys weekend off by visiting this embarrassing place. 1) We were seated somewhere around the side towards the back on old wicker seating with no cushions. Be warned not all seating is good. The chairs are low and you have to stand to get a view. Some towards the front bar area seem nicer. 2) We waited 50 minutes for one round of simple drinks. @$20-$25 each for vodka and ginger beer or rum and coke. Our reservation was at 5PM hardly a crowd. 3) Waited another 40 minutes for food. Basic pizza and fries another $1xx. Total was over $200 and auto gratuity lol what a joke. We will NEVER ever come back. Terrible service, grossly understaffed and over priced. We will personally go out of my way to make sure everyone knows NOT to waste a second in this place.

Denise: I felt the previous views were unwarranted. This one of the best rooftop bars in DC. The view is amazing, service was professional, and drinks were on par. The prices are about right with other high class rooftops. I will be coming back here again soon.

Matt Ryder: Had the audacity to cancel a reservation we made weeks in advance the day of “due to a private event”. Note to management: if you’re going to be so bold as to tell all reservations they will be charged $50/pp cancellation fee for any reservations cancelled within 24 hours - you should do the same should the tables turn. Will you be paying me $100 now due to your lack of proper scheduling and communication to your guests?? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Maxwell D.: Frankly, really disappointing. There is so much potential here to be a destination bar and they absolutely squander it! The cocktails are $18, served in thin plastic cups, and of the same quality that you’d get at a cheap late night college bar. The food, which is hilariously overpriced, is also average at best. $29 for two pitiful skewers with overcooked steak on them and a $26 7 Eleven pizza with some olives and banana peppers thrown on it. The service was below average as well, with servers disappearing for long periods of time, employees literally throwing drinks off the roof, and an otherwise pleasant hostess that waved us through and advised us to sit anywhere despite having a reservation. The ONLY redeeming quality of this bar is the stunning views of Georgetown, Arlington, the Kennedy Center, and the low flying aircraft on approach to DCA. DO NOT come here expecting quality concessions and cocktails, or even decent service.

sdgainesdc: Limited menu, pricey, staff seemed pretty helpful. Not a place I would go too often but it was a special occasion.

Will Normand: The rooftop was practically EMPTY, and it was just 2 of us and we wanted to get a drink at the bar. They insisted we "check in" at the host stand prior to going to the bar, which insanely took around 8 minutes per group. Literally took 15 minutes of standing in line at the host stand with barely anyone in front of us to be able to get a drink at the bar. The host had zero sense of urgency, handled everything as slowly as possible. Very disappointing experience. Once we got to the front, they said we needed a reservation just to have a drink at the bar. Horrible, will never be back

12 Stories: what do users think?

Megan Martinez: This place is perfect for celebration cocktails and happy hour. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and I took my sister here for her birthday. Both times the view was spectacular, it wasn’t too crowded, and the service is just amazing. Each time the waiter brought a couple celebration shots and it made the occasion even more special! Deon was so friendly and welcoming. I can’t wait to go back!

Jason Saville: My company rented out the place for a night and we all had a blast. Very beautiful place, lots of room, great drinks and fast service. The view off the roof top is really nice. I would love to go back.

john Dickerson: The spot was dope, if you want a table or something to sit please make a reservation, and there's a 90 minutes time limit on reservation from the time your orders arrive. The staffs there are on their job, the DJ was great. Food and drinks was wonderful.

Black Star Dust: As you enter it looks like a hallway to no where but once you take the elevator ALL the way up, you’ll definitely feel like you’ve arrived. The rooftop vibes are on point. Great outdoor patio seating with panoramic views of the Potomac and Potomac golf course/Haines Point. I had the delicious salmon and kale salad and an old fashion. Both were delicious. The music and vibes are top tier. Great for a date night or night on the town with friends.

Donna Thompson: Came here got a quick pre-show meal. The menu was very limited but it made due. The grilled shrimp and the lamb steam buns were top notch. Also service was great. The place was empty but they made sure to make us feel welcomed.

Nia Bright: Very limited menu option. Beautiful restaurant + vibe but I wasn’t very satisfied with the Turkey club sandwich. Not sure what kind of sauce the put on because the menu don’t state it. The bread on the sandwich tasted terrible so I didn’t eat it. The po boy is good when they don’t toast the bread too long. Crab tacos 4/5 tasted good but I wish it had more than just cheese and crab. The crab dip was very tasteful. They should up the chips portion. So anyway the experience was good. I just wasn’t satisfied. Very good service for everyone. Also love that it’s a 21+ location. Thank you for bringing out our friend cake with candles

DeAndra Holmes: The view, vibe and ambiance was amazing. The menu is quite small but they make the best crab dip I've ever had. If crab dip isn't for you, get the PoBoy! Their drinks were great too. Customer service is top notch

Trena Briscoe: I recently celebrated my birthday with some close friends at 12 Stories at the Wharf. Everything from planning the event to having the party was easy and enjoyable. I reserved the Cove area of the club for my event, and it was perfect: The staff was attentive. The food was delicious! The music and the atmosphere were chic and elegant. I want to thank Judy Ava, the event planner, especially - she made me feel welcomed and handled everything with excellent care. I would be thrilled to host another event here.

Tina Beale: I was disappointed that we had a $75 minimum per person for bar food and was required to dress up for a lounge setting. The crab dip had mostly cheese and the drinks were water down. The Po Boy, chicken tenders and truffle fries were good. The View was spectacular but not sure it was worth the $500 dollars price tag for 90 minutes. That’s right you get only 90 minutes to enjoy the view. But at least I can say I tried it.

Candace L: Beautiful outdoor seating. It was cold outside but the heaters outside made the weather bearable. Our server was great, quick, and friendly. I tasted the chicken and burger. Get the chicken! It was delicious. My friend enjoyed the crab dip. Drinks were made quickly and tasted great. We made reservations and our table was ready when we arrived. Parking is a beast so arrive early. They stick to their 90 minute times on reservations.

THE BETSY: what do users think?

Adriana Rakshana: Wanted to try out Belga Cafe but it was too full on a Sunday (so get a reservation if you want to try out Belga) but Betsy is a great alternative. Same menu and kitchen, just a different location. It's the rooftop right behind Belga. Service was a little slow but couldn't blame them, it was pretty crowded. My friend got the cornbread waffle dish and absolutely loved it. I was so-so on the chicken and waffles - nothing terribly spectacular so maybe try something else. The chicken was good, the waffle was pretty mediocre.

LP: Follow the chicken feet from the Main Street to the back alley entrance! It’s cute covered rooftop spot, the drinks are good and food is hearty homey. Didnt like how the bartender refused to use the gin I already paid for in a cocktail because it was “meant to sip”. I tasted it - and decided I didn’t wanna sip it. Being rude and elitist won’t have me back again.

Kyle Olson: Betsy is always a good time with great drinks. They specialize in gin but have alternative liquors and beer for those that aren't into gin. Love the fact most of their drinks have a unique flavored ice cube. Get there early as tables do fill up quickly.

Paul Nolan: Excellent rooftop bar in DC! Large menu of gin drinks. Pretty small space which makes it feel cozy and not overwhelming. Food is good too. Definitely add to your bucket list of DC bars.

Jason Mellen: Brie waffle sandwich and chocolate mousse. Pretty good. Drinks just alright.

Sasha Farley: Super delicious brunch from Belga and a great ambiance. The bartender/server was super helpful and friendly. The chicken in the chicken and waffles was delicious and the green eggs were light a yummy. We'll definitely be coming back to try more on the menu.

Fanise Cannon: If my aesthetic was a place, it would be BETSY! It’s like taking a trip out of DC but not having to leave the city. I’ve only had cocktails and they were superb and refreshing to say the very least. I went for my birthday weekend and the staff was very nice and helped me pick out a drink based on what I liked. I love some vibes and a good gin drink, so I will definitely be back!!

Carl-Gustav Anderson: The cutest gin bar in the city. G&Ts are all wonderful, thoughtful, and varied, and there are a handful of truly excellent cocktails available. A+

Mel Köberle: Found this place following the cute chicken feet spray painted on the floor. We were very pleasantly surprised with the amount of space and unique decor. When all other spots were beyond crowded this place had ample space and a mouth watering menu. We were able to keep our bikes safely here as well which is a plus! The food is fantastic, I’m coming back to try more things. Enjoy!

Soph B: Betsy is the rooftop bar behind Belga Café. To enter you need to go around the back entrance in the alley and up a staircase. It's technically a gin bar and they have an amazing array of gin and tonics and gin based cocktails. I recommend the Tested Negative off their cocktail list. My partner and I shared the mussel pot and the burrata salad, both were good, the mussels were a bit small and chewy but the sauce was so delicious. They did charge extra for bread. Service was prompt, if not very friendly. They are not following all Covid regulations for restaurants, they are not taking or making reservations, they are not contact tracing, they only have one small hand sanitizer on a side table available for all guests. I saw a woman come into the restaurant completely unmasked and use the restroom and walk out. I'm not sure where she came from or what. Everyone else was masked. The menus are standard, leather bound, which I am not sure how they are cleaned between guests. We were glad we brought our own hand sanitizer and portable disinfectant spray. It is outdoors which is nice.

TAKODA - Rooftop Restaurant & Beer Garden: what do users think?

Katie Hallock: This place was perfect for a casual date night with some friends. I loved the vibe and decor and definitely loved the seating on the balcony. It’s a busy part of town so parking can be nearly impossible and it’s not unusual for your time there to be filled with lots of sirens and ambulances passing by or even loud people on motorcycles. We all decided to go the appetizer route and get one of everything to share. The boneless chicken wings have an amazingly flavorful and crunchy out exterior which is fantastic! The inside is pretty darn juicy, too! But it wasn’t unusual to find a good amount of chewy fat or something going on inside. The truffle fries were super delicious! The old bay tots weren’t overwhelmed by the seasoning, but they were nice and crispy and perfect for dipping in the yummy garlic aïoli. Of the sliders and sandwiches, I personally thought that the barbecue pork was way better than any of the other options. The burger looked pretty boring and I was disappointed in the lack of flavor and the short rib sandwich.
Response: Thank you for choosing to visit Takoda, Katie! We're glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and our balcony seating. I'm sorry to hear that parking was difficult to find, but we're happy you found us nonetheless. Our appetizers are a popular choice and it sounds like you made a great decision in trying them all. The chicken wings are definitely a fan favorite and we're glad you enjoyed them. Thank you for your kind words about the fries and tater tots, too! We hope to see you again soon.

Mohammad “Mo” Mumtaz: Brunch here was pretty mediocre. Service wasn't great - felt like we were being rushed to order and people kept coming by every few minutes trying to take plates away that still had more than half the food. Speaking of food, what we ordered really left something to be desired - everything was lacking flavor. Small portions and very basic. The avocado toast was like something I could throw together at home. The cocktails were even less impressive - I ordered a mojito and received one of those pre-mixed type drinks (didn't even have mint leaves in it) and when they are charging $12-15 per drink, I expect decent quality.... The rooftop location is cute, but for the prices it's hard to justify the the food/drink being so mediocre.
Response: Hi there, Mohammad. Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback. We appreciate your input and will we working on implementing some solutions moving forward.

Maalik hutchinson: Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely rooftop restaurant in DC. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing, everything we tasted especially the chicken biscuit. Absolutely the best brunch experience I’ve had while in DC. Highly recommend!
Response: Thanks Maalik! We are so happy to hear that your experience was delightful. We pride ourselves on our service, food and atmosphere here at Takoda. It's always a pleasure hearing from customers like you who have experienced how we live out our mission of "giving the world a little more love". Thank you for taking the time to review us and I hope you'll be back soon!

Ricardo Daley: Went for their Sunday Brunch and was very disappointed with their service. The menu was in 3 parts - first comes with everything with second and third being requested with one from each section individually. They had no bacon from the first part and no substitute. Took like 25 minutes between request and delivery. Asked for extra napkins before meal was served and still waiting. Even after requesting items from second and third menus and he wrote it down, he came back to ask if we needed anything. SMH. Food was average at best! Service was TERRIBLE! The only thing that was fast was when we asked for the check. It came quickly. Only thing going for them was the tall Asian chef/cook who came out in his running shorts looking tasty! He shouldn’t be in the back!
Response: Hello Ricardo, I'm sorry to hear that your experience at Takoda didn't meet your expectations. Our goal is always to provide an excellent experience for every guest, and it sounds like we failed in this instance. The issues you encountered with service are not up to our standards, and we will work to correct them immediately. The food you ordered should have been delivered promptly and without issue, and we apologize for the delay you experienced. Additionally, please accept our apologies for the lack of napkins during your meal. We'll make sure that all staff are aware of these issues so they can be avoided in the future. Thank you for bringing these problems to our attention. We hope that you'll give us another chance to serve you in the future so that we can make things right.

Rahul Panchal: Great place to hangout in downtown with best part they have rooftop sitting area. Rooftop section is little small so you need to come early or wait little longer. The best part is their name of the cocktails, we tried Pfizer gang and Fully vaxxed. 4 star is because they add too much ice to get the taste of cocktails and all cocktails were premixed from tab. We liked the ambience and rooftop section to enjoy few drinks. Worth visiting.
Response: Thanks for the feedback Rahul- glad to hear you had a good experience with us. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Hector Zarate: Good and affordable place for lunch (awesome brunch deal). Great location for bar hopping after brunch. Food is good. The rooftop views are nice. Fast service and friendly staff. The drink selection was good but most of them tasted like they may have relied a lot on flavored syrups perhaps? so some of them were on the very sweet side. 4 stars overall!
Response: Hi Hector, thank you for your feedback. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed TAKODA's brunch deal and our rooftop views! I will mention to the bar team about the drinks, we are always looking for ways to improve our offerings. We appreciate your patronage and hope to see you again soon!

Natalie Aaron: Went here for the bottomless brunch and mimosas. It was a little difficult as someone with food allergies and a vegetarian but with every request they were able to meet me! Staff was wonderful helping me get what I needed. The atmosphere of the roof top deck was perfect while we enjoyed our bottomless brunch. ** If you don't drink, drank too much the night before, or don't like champagne** you can get a reduced bottomless brunch price and order your drinks how you wish.
Response: Thank you Natalie

Kimberly Stamets: I had a fantastic time at bottomless brunch thanks to our server, Ramon! If you can, ask for him! The food was tasty and the mimosas were flowing. Great time!
Response: Kimberly, thank you for your review and feedback. I'm glad that Ramon was able to make your experience memorable! I'll be sure to pass on what a great job he did and how much everyone enjoyed him. We're so happy you had such a wonderful time at Bottomless Brunch - we hope you can come back soon!

Jay Cheat: The drinks 🍹 was pre mixed all them tasted the same and the food was over priced and dry. If you want to just get drunk then it’s ok, sorry 😢 you can’t get drunk lol 😂 😂🤣 but for a good experience NOOOOOO!!!!!
Response: Hi Jay, thanks for coming by Takoda. We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your time with us - we strive to get better every day and would love for you to come and visit us again sometime in the future. Our drinks are mixed fresh everyday and we have a variety of flavors for you to choose from, so we're sorry to hear that they all tasted the same to you. Our food is also made fresh everyday and we adjust our prices regularly based on feedback from customers like yourself, so hopefully you'll find it more affordable next time you visit. Thanks again for taking the time to leave us a review!

Andrew Fitch: Fine bar with an indoor and rooftop option. Good variety of beers. Food was not consistent. Can only speak to the sliders and pulled pork sandwich. The buns aren't particularly tasty and they completely overwhelm the flavor of the filling. Particularly disappointing because the fries were really good.
Response: Hi Andrew, thanks for taking the time to write a review of Takoda. We're glad you enjoyed our beer selection and that you liked our fries, but we're sorry to hear that you didn't care for our slider and pulled pork sandwiches. We'll pass along your feedback to our kitchen team so they can take a look at what might need some improvement. We hope you'll come back and give us another chance soon!

Roof Terrace Restaurant: what do users think?

Jeff Luttrell: RTR is a pretty good place for dinner before a show at the Kennedy Center. The restaurant has the classic aesthetic of the Kennedy Center with beautiful views from the terrace outside the restaurant. The staff were friendly enough though our waiter didn't talk with us too much. Food service was quick which is to be expected for those going to performances. The quality of the food is okay. All of our entrees were hot but just okay taste wise. Pretty good selection for vegetarians and the fish choices are nice too! We'll come back and try it again as we go to the KC often.

Ron Milkowski: I have never been to the Kennedy Center and had no idea that there even was a restaurant. What a very nice dining experience. Santo our waiter was very knowledgeable with the food and drinks. It is a bit pricey but worth it. Even if you are not going to an event I highly recommend checking it out.

Anusha Chatterjee: Wonderful bar service! The food was so good. Had the tuna carpaccio and the salmon. Both were absolutely perfect! Lovely seasonal Cocktails. Perfect stop before or after the show. The bar has the full menu, so no reservations were needed. Lovely intimate vibe.

Craig Herrick: We’ve been here a number of times over the years though this was the first visit in two years. The Terrace has upped their game. My lamb chops and wife’s fillet would go over well in any finer local venue. The service was prompt and professional and based around our show time. Terrace maintains most of its vintage (60’s) vibe which is what I like about it.

Stu: Read some negative reviews before going to the Roof Terrace restaurant, and had some concerns. I will say that this was a lovely place and a rather elegant atmosphere. The food was fine- especially the seasoned fries. Delicious! We each had a fish dish, which at nearly forty dollars each I found to be drastically overpriced. Even at ten dollars less it would have been overpriced. Yet the meals were tasty, though not very filing. They came with the tiniest bit of vegetables. The service was excellent, and my concerns about inattentive service or being rushed were proven false. In all, it is a very nice place to go that is the ultimate in convenience if you are going to a Kennedy Center performance. But you pay for that convenience in very high restaurant prices. Would I return? Probably, but this is not a place I'd be able to afford very often.

Myrna Linzy: Very good. Waitress was very good in helping me with which meal. Picked my drinks. Awesome place.

Catina Carter: The food and service was outstanding. Wonderful place to have a beautiful experience of class. The views were wonderful as well.

Mary Robinson: Wonderful dinner before a show. Cant beat the views! Professional service throughout the meal.

Veronica Coleman: Wonderful evening at the Kennedy Center and dining at the Roof Terrace Restaurant. Great food. Great music.

Phil Cooke: Great setting at the Kennedy Center, ideal for pre show dinner. Service was excellent; overall, food was very good. Our party of four got fish, with the bass being the best, by far. Others, trout and salmon, were just okay. It is a little pricey, but the setting, service and convenience make it worth it.

Bar Deco: what do users think?

Damon Okey: Great little dive in Chinatown with a rooftop bar. American style pub fare with a good cocktail menu and a few craft brews to chose from. Service was friendly, if a bit understaffed. Glad we stopped!
Response: Thank you for stopping in Damon- we really appreciate the compliment on the service. We hope to see you again soon. Cheers!

Bobbi DeAnda: We were looking for a fun rooftop happy hour and that’s exactly what we found at bar deco! Such a fun spot and the appetizers were SO YUMMY! I had the avocado eggs rolls…oh my gosh, SO YUMMY! Definitely a fun stop! Update 6/13 Came again and it wasn't as great as I remember... I literally dreamt of the club egg rolls I had last time and they were not as good this time (they got rid of the avocado). Also the seating is just a mess. If they put a counter around the edge of the rooftop there'd be so much more seating. Nothing worse than ordering food and having no where to eat it!
Response: Thank you Courtney- we appreciate it so much!

Dan B: We were staying at the Motto Hotel in downtown DC and their rooftop bar was closed for a private event, so they recommended we try Bar Deco, which also has a rooftop bar, and very glad we did. As we entered on the lower level, the hostess mentioned that the rooftop area was quite busy, and suggested we try the bar on the 3rd floor. The bar has a cool industrial vibe along with great Happy Hour food and drink specials. The food is very good (my wife said it's the best burger she's ever had), and they have a nice selection of craft beers and cocktails. We were fortunate to meet their Director of Operations, Jesse, who hails from the upstate NY area where we lived for 28 years, so it ended up being a very enjoyable evening. The next time we're in the area, we would certainly make Bar Deco one of our stops.
Response: Dan- thank you for the rave review! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your visit to Bar Deco. We will pass your compliment on the food to the kitchen as well. Please take care and safe travels home!

Anthony L. Forshier: I ordered the Gouda Short Rib Burger; it was the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I don’t often write reviews of bars or restaurants; but knowledge of that short rib burger must be shared with the world. The short rib was delicious; but what made it exquisite was the added sweetness of the maple syrup coupled with the savory Gouda cheese. The crunchiness of the toasted bun ensured that each bite appealed to all five senses. I will be back.
Response: Anthony- many thanks for the rave review! We appreciate the compliment on the Gouda Short Rib sandwich. We hope to see you again soon!

Will Combs: We sat on the rooftop. Staff was fun and outstanding. Food was amazing as well. The pictured sandwich is only half of it. Portions are more than enough and fairly priced. Atmosphere and quality make this definitely worth a visit.
Response: Thank you for the great review Will- we will be sharing your comments with the team.

Shay Holihan: The whole place is 4 floors and I went when only two of the floors were open. The rooftop is very spacious and the 3rd floor bar is very long. They have great great happy hour specials. And I got the burrata salad with chicken and it was pretty good. Only reason I’m not giving it a 5 was because of the service. My bartender was really fast but not personable. I’ve been a bartender for over 5 years so it hurts to see none of the bartenders care about their guests. Also they add an automatic 20% grat on to every tab. Which I always pay more but it feels very odd to do it so high automatically.

M H: We were here for a Caps game and the larger female server was just angry the entire time. Thank goodness your other server in a black hoodie was there. She was awesome, polite, got us what we needed and even offered to go upstairs for a different beer we were looking for. Went on 5/7/2022 if you are a manager. She is the only reason we will come back. Please teach or help the other server. She was absolutely terrible. As a member of the armed forces and a past server myself, it was absolutely uncalled for and really upset the people around us and ourselves, food was awesome by the way!

Michal Family: This place was just massively disorganized. Check came with a bunch of things we didn't order, we had at least 4 or 5 servers, food runners constantly interrupting our meal trying to give us things we didn't order. This is the product of building a gratuity into every check, no ownership of anything, just shotgun random plates everywhere. Steak and cheese was good, and interesting spiral cut fries. Ultimately they did sort everything out, or I'd be more upset.

Christopher Bagot: Good pregame spot before a Capital One Arena Event. Nachos are best in the city, absolute 🔥! Good happy hour combined with some solid daily specials. Can get crowded on GameDay but service is attentive. Again, best Nachos. Disagree? Tell me what's better
Response: Christopher, THANK YOU for the awesome kudos on the nachos. We let the team know you are a fan. We appreciate your support. See you soon!

Justin M: Self serve bar with first come first serve. Good drinks!
Response: Thank you for the recommendation Justin! We hope to see you again soon. Cheers!

Smoke & Mirrors: what do users think?

Irene Toporovskaya: Great experience! Beautiful rooftop, delicious food and drinks, attentive staff. We had the best time. The space is gorgeous both indoors and outdoors and food menu selection is really diverse. Everything we tried was fantastic. Highly recommend the potatoes, iberico bikini, fat cat, fried duck wings; and their chilled grey toddy was amazing.
Response: Dear Irene Toporovskaya, What a wonderful review! The staff works hard to try and provide every customer with an experience just like the one you shared with us. We humbly thank you for joining us and for recommending our restaurant. We look forward to your next visit. Best, Restaurant Management

Stacie: This place is definitely on track to be one of DC's happening spots! The service was just okay, the food was satisfying, and they have an extensive cocktail offering. Its located inside of the AC Hotel on New Jersey, so as a hotel guest it was disappointing to be turned away. I was able to experience the establishment only once out of a 4 night stay; hence the 4 star rating.
Response: Dear Stacie, Customer satisfaction is our highest priority so I regret that we weren't able to deliver a more positive experience and that you were unable to join us each night of your stay. Your feedback is welcomed and we appreciate you taking the time to share your review with us. Best, Restaurant Management

Kimberly W.: Pros: Gorgeous Views! Beautiful people with superb interior design. The tater tots were dressed up nicely and were tasty! Loved the burger, very nice flavors. Cons: We we’re excited to try the impressively described smoking cocktail, unfortunately the machine for it was broken… seems like a place like this would have more than one. We attempted to order alternative cocktails but the bar was out of the necessary ingredients. We ordered duck wings, I love duck. Unfortunately the wings were so tough we had to pick them up to chew them. These were Large Wings! In such a beautiful atmosphere holding it in my hand fighting to bite it wasn’t a good look! I would suggest that they cook them until tender so that a fork could be used. It would also help if they were already halved if hands are necessary.
Response: Dear Kimberly W., Thank you for choosing to dine with us, but I’m sorry that we did not provide a more positive experience. We appreciate the feedback and hope to have the opportunity to leave you with a more favorable impression on a return visit. Best, Restaurant Management

Jasmine Garrett: I went to the soft opening of Smoke & Mirrors and was blown away!!!! The views and ambiance are UNMATCHED in Navy Yard. This will most definitely be my go-to bar. The food and drinks were top tier. I had the Diver Scallops (amazing), the Macalllan cocktail and the Espresso Martini. I even love the instrumentals of 90s Hip Hop playing in the back....it just made the overall experience exquisite. David, the restaurant manager, was AMAZING as well. He is so sweet and so kind. Smoke & Mirrors - you have a regular on your hands now :)

Mishel M.: This place is nothing short of AMAZING! The atmosphere, ambiance, vibe, everything is just perfect. The views? To die for. I came here with one other person on a Saturday evening around 6:30p. I had reservations and was seated immediately and served water as soon as we sat down. It wasn’t too crowded but there was a nice amount of people there. Our server was great and very attentive. I’ll definitely be back here again!

Lolita Williams: Your food menu selection is sparse, overpriced, and minimal as it relates to the quantity of food received. However, the ambience at your establishment is 5 star, and definitely a great place to hang out for happy hour. Additionally, as it relates to the parking options at Smoke and Mirrors Restaurant, to put it mildly, is outrageous to say the least. Valet car parking appears to be the only option this establishment is inclinded to use. Noting the required reservation order in place regarding dining, and the allowance of only 2 hours in which to dine, only adds insult to injury that valet car parking from 1 to 4 hours had been set at a whopping $37.00? This aspect of dining at your establishment shall surely hinder future return visits. Furthermore, the price list for valet car service should proudly be displayed for the public to see PRIOR to the entrance into the hotel and your establishment, and should routinely be announced by that valet. Steps should be taken by this establishment to seek alternative parking that wouldn't sticker shock the patrons, thereby increasing the dining capacity of this establishment for future engagements to come.
Response: Dear Lolita Williams, Thank you for joining us and leaving us feedback. I sincerely apologize that our menu selections and our valet pricing were not to your liking. Customer satisfaction is our highest priority and I regret that we left you with a poor impression of our restaurant. Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. Sincerely, Restaurant Management

Austin Graff: When you walk up to one of the city's newest hotels, the AC Hotel, you'll notice the hotel sign reads "AC Hotel Capitol Hill." Locals will find this funny because the hotel is south of the highway, putting in the Navy Yard neighborhood. The confusion is likely thanks to the Whole Foods across the street that opened with signs calling the neighborhood "South Capitol Hill." Let be know this neighborhood is NAVY YARD, an area full of surprisingly gems and worthy of being called its own name. Despite that, the hotel, a Marriott brand, is beautiful and the best part is on its rooftop- Smoke and Mirrors. Take the elevator to the top floor and you'll find a spacious restaurant/bar with a large open-air rooftop with views of a very close U.S. Capitol Building. With plenty of seats, tables and couches around firepits, you're bound to find space to sit and relax. It's a great spot for groups. The food menu is diverse and the bars (yes, there are multiple) can make any type of drink. My friend ordered a martini and I a more sweet cocktail with black salt on the rim. For the price point, we both found our drinks watered down, but for the view, we'll take it.

Sheila Thompson: Rooftop was nicely decorated with a beautiful view. The drinks were expensive but not all that good. They should really invest in more and better quality glassware especially for the price. I ordered an espresso martini but it was served in a small round glass, presentation counts. The mushrooms were excellent but the chicken wrapped in bacon was dry. Truly the only saving grace was Desiree our server. She was very good, friendly, professional and attentive. Needless to say I won't return nor will I recommend it.
Response: Dear Sheila Thompson, While it sounds like you had a lot to like about your time with us, I am very sorry that we didn't exceed your expectations overall. Your detailed feedback is appreciated as it helps us monitor the guest experience and focus on areas of improvement. We hope you will consider a return visit in the future. Sincerely, Restaurant Management

Jay Que: I've been to Smoke & Mirrors several times and sat at the bar. I've always had a pleasant experience and the food is 10 out of 10. The last time I went I reserved a table for 3, taking my sister for the first time. The Waiter we had, his name is Napoleon was phenomenal!! I was very impressed with his service and his tentativeness to our table to make sure that we had everything we needed and wanted. I don't mind tipping big for Awesome service. Thank you Smoke & Mirrors and Thank You Napoleon. Because of you, I will reserve a table from now on.
Response: Dear Jay Que, We are thrilled to hear that we provided you with an awesome dining experience. Your kind review is appreciated and serves as encouragement to our staff who works hard to deliver remarkable service. Thank you for selecting our restaurant once again and for taking the time to share your experience. We look forward to your return. Best, Restaurant Management

Rachele Clegg: This spot has some of the best views of the Capitol in the city. When you walk into the AC hotel downstairs, make sure you go all the way to the back elevator to get to floor 11, where there will be a concierge waiting to send you up. There are two bars upstairs — one indoor and one outdoor. We grabbed drinks outdoors. For the price point, the drink menu could’ve been more creative and it was clear that the bar was busier than the sole bartender outside could handle. We did not have food, but this seems to be a great spot to host any sort of happy hour with a small to medium sized group of folks. You definitely are paying for the view.
Response: Dear Rachele Clegg, We are delighted that you enjoyed dining at Smoke & Mirrors Rooftop! Thank you for sharing the aspects of your visit that stood out for you, and please know we look forward to welcoming you again for another memorable experience. Best, Restaurant Management

Roofers Union: what do users think?

Jesse P: We went on a Friday night when it was very busy at surrounding restaurants and bars. To my surprise we got in immediately and sat right away. We had a nice window seat and could look down and see the street and nightlife. The online ordering system was easy to navigate. After ordering drinks, they were almost instantly brought out. The food soon came and was piping hot. The burger was delicious and cooked to the perfect medium rare. Great vibes and service. Huge drink selection including draft beer.

james firsick: Staff kicked myself and my girlfriend out after one drink. Her drink was too strong and spit some out due to that and we we’re promptly escorted out for no reason. Drinks are very mediocre and over priced. Your money can be spent much better in DC.

Anica Landreneau: Everything you loved about the Reef without the aquariums. I have great memories of the rooftop bar from when i moved to DC 17 years ago. The roof is still one of the greatest spots in Adams Morgan for a drink with a view.

Jed Barnes: Their food and atmosphere were good. Their online ordering system was not. It's super anti social to be out with friends and constantly going back to your phone. They also expect a standard gratuity for providing less then half the service, which is ridiculous.

Michael William Majorczak: Amazing Place. Sunday Brunch. It’s called a Hot Mess. Man was it good. Fried Egg over a boneless chicken thigh over potatoes with sausage gravy! The Bloody Mary was excellent and an awesome beer menu with some great craft sour Beers.

Danny Donovan: Cant really comment on Roofer's Union as a whole but stopped in on a Thursday night for a few drinks and eats. We decided to sit in the rooftop lounge area which is covered and heated and has a bathroom of it's own. From what the bartender stated, the menu on the rooftop differs just a bit from the main bar/dining area a floor below. But since we just ordered wings etc. it was perfect. Nice selection of beer too. Had fun and would most certainly visit again

Sharon Kotovsky: Excellent food - always! Fun place to hang out with friends on the rooftop bar in Adam's Morgan. Service is friendly, bartenders are great, and you will leave very happy!
Response: Thank you Sharon! Come see us again soon!

L B: 75 minute time limit is insane even with COVID. 120 minutes is reasonable for limit. Also, food and drinks all came in plastic and one-use plastic silverware/paper plates was not ok for the high prices. It’s also very poor for the environment. Additionally, requiring one food item per guest is not reasonable as some guests could just get two drinks for the same price.

Julia Sellers: Went to Roofer’s Union for brunch. My two friends did bottomless and I got a coffee. Our server come by often to refill my friends drinks, but not once asked me or refilled my coffee and left us waiting for him for about 15 minutes after we got the checks. The eggs Benedict was good, but the brunch menu is pretty limiting unless you want everything fried and greasy. They also ran out of OJ- a cardinal sin for a Sunday brunch in DC. Probably not returning any time soon.

Peter Fernandez: Hip 2nd floor place in Adams Morgan. Very bright with great views of the neighborhood out of floor to ceiling windows. Service is friendly and prompt. Bloody Marys were tasty, food was very good.
