National Gallery of Art: what do users think?

Terry Bexton: AWESOME art. Absolutely unbelievable to witness these masterpieces in real life. I was astonished by the gift shop as well. Most people that know me know that I LOVE gift shops, and this one was definitely one of my new favorites. It had all the different art related things a person could think of. Absolutely would recommend this gallery to any art lover.

Kathryn Corselius: The National Gallery of Art is a great stop for any history or art lover. Boasting many different paintings from the biggest artists, the gallery is expansive and well-curated. I spent a couple of hours here and could easily have spent more time here. I would recommend planning ahead to locate the galleries that are a must-see for you, as after a couple of hours, it's easy to get fatigued by how many pieces there are. For history lovers, check out the presidential portraits by Gilbert Stuart and the famous painting of Marie Antoinette. I also recommend touring the galleries on the lower floor, where there are beautiful Degas and Rodin sculptures and early Colonial furniture.

Nay Wareenipha: Absolutely must visit if you love art and it's FREE! I saw a Davinci painting for the first time here with nobody around. It's very peaceful. There's also a FREE baggage deposit area so don't worry about your coats and bags. You can get a free map that will allow you to go through each section based on the era of the paintings. You can easily spend a whole day here. So many things to see. Additionally there's also an amazing free audio guide under some paintings that you can listen to which is fantastic. There's also another floor under dedicated to sculptures which is also very interesting. There's free WiFi in the premises. Also souvenir shops and food place. Plus, it's also next to the Smithsonian museum so you can see both in one day.

R Lin: I’ve been to the Gallery of Art a few times now, and it really just never gets old. It would also take at least one entire day to truly get through everything that’s there (the museum is HUGE, and has more than one building), so when I say it never gets old it’s the honest truth. There’s something new pretty much every time because there’s a back corner or section you accidentally missed the previous time. This place is beyond easy to get lost in. It’s definitely an iconic Smithsonian, and worth seeing. But again- this place is massive! Schedule a big chunk of your day if you want to see a lot of it, or else prioritize the works you want to see and grab a building map to help you stay on track (there’s a good chance you’ll still get a little lost). You get to see some true, original and iconic pieces here. I think it’s also fun seeing where the Gallery got the pieces from. If you’re at all a souvenir person you’d better also visit the gift shop (again, view the building map and follow signs because it can be tough to find). Love this maze of a museum!

Andrew Hovenden: So much to see. Take your time but don't dawdle or you will tire before you see it all! I posted my favorites and lesser known pieces I liked; and ones I want to know more about. Be sure to look at the frames and the floors. Some of the frames are amazing and the floors are beautiful wood. Decent place for kids under 12 but the might need help understanding why these are great works. Good Cafe with a nice Kale and chicken salad.

F SDK: I've driven 4 hours to be in Washington DC from PA, and this is one of the place we've stopped over. We didnt need entry fee, and the amazing arts took a couple of hours from our day trip. The place is huge, hard to walk all the way and see everything. We've tried to cover as much we could within a short time.

Noah Lepek: The National Gallery of Art should be on everyone's itinerary when planning a visit to Washington D.C. This internationally recognized museum holds works of art from every part of the world, allowing people to develop a better understanding of the world. When visiting the capital of the United States, this place certainly comes highly recommended.

Shravya Boppana: FANTASTIC! This is a great place to visit for all ranges of art lovers! It has such a wide range of art that is a ranged in an easy to digest walk through. The interactive guide through the app can help with understanding the history behind the artist and art, which is great for people who are just beginning in the art scene as well. It is a must visit!

Evan S: A free museum with so many fabulous paintings! The Van Gogh selection was amazing.. if you have time check it out! It was so easy to get in and out.

Kevin Shim: No entry fee. Wear a mask. This museum has a good collection of art. From early Rennaisance to modern. Da Vinci, Raphael, Vermeer, Degas, Monet, Degas, Rothko are the highlights of this museum. It’s laid out in a way to showcase how our perception of art has evolved over the years. The East building holds all the modern art. The underground concourse that connects the West and East building is worth checking out.

Long View Gallery: what do users think?

Angelica Oung: We had a political event here and it was the nicest venue. Spacious, with lovely exposed brick. Perhaps for the size of crowd we had it could have used more restrooms but that is hardly the fault of the venue. In general I would recommend the Long view gallery as a very classy event space.

Benjamin Phillips: I attended a large event at the Long View Gallery this past week. While this might be a suitable space for smaller events, it was absolutely awful, wrong choice for a large event especially one lasting the whole afternoon. To start with the space simply wasn't enough. People were packed together like sardines, which is unpleasant enough in normal circumstances and foolishly risky during a pandemic situation. Not to mention that dozens of people didn't even have seats and were left standing up for several hours. The seats that were available were very uncomfortable, metal folding chairs. Second major problem was the heat and poor ventilation, it felt like more than 100 degrees inside. I ended up drenched with sweat despite wearing only a short-sleeved, cotton shirt and lightweight trousers. Around 4:00 PM - feeling quite dehydrated - I tried to get a bottle of water, but the service staff had already cleared away the event's water and coffee service in order to prepare for the evening cocktail hour starting later. Speaking of evening cocktail hour, during that portion of the event only two single-stall bathrooms were available for a large crowd most of whom were drinking. Naturally that caused a huge line to use the facilities. Finally, during networking break times and cocktail hour in the rear gallery area, it was nearly impossible to hear people talking due to such a large, dense crowd talking at once, with sound reverberating off the concrete floor and ceiling. Pretty much defeated the purpose of the event since conversation was not possible. Organizers of large events should steer well clear of Long View Gallery.

Monica Brown: Attended the DC wine fest there last weekend. Very nice venue and art gallery. The wine fest was great as well!

Karen: My first visit there in a while. It's very near the Convention Center. Lots of good restaurants and a Giant nearby. Michael Crossett is a wonderful DC painter.

Carly LeDroux: An incredible venue for weddings and events. The textures alone and different large spaces are breath taking. The layout for last nights Washingtonian event allowed for a great flow of 350+ people. Wine tasting and cotton candy! A lovely evening, fun had by all. Highly recommend paying for parking two doors down ahead of time. Worth reserving

WP Mensch: Vicky is a dangerous individual who is deceitful, manipulative, abusive, and vindictive. She has a reputation in the industry and is banned by multiple vendors/venues. She has been very successful at squashing negative reviews and padding her online presence with fake positives. She threatened us multiple times from speaking up about our experience. I’m hesitant to be specific in fear of her wrath if she identifies us but ask around and you’ll hear the truth. Avoid at all costs.

Demar Ayee: Perhaps it might be a hidden gem in D.C. I stumbled upon it on my way to brunch and wasn't sure if it was free. The artwork is beautiful and varied. Many textures, patterns, materials and colors. It felt eclectic and in a good way. The lady in the gallery was very pleasant and welcoming. I would recommend it because it has beautiful artwork and it's free.

Megan M.: Long View is a very well-regarded gallery in the DC area featuring excellent monthly exhibitions of a variety of artists. I've long enjoyed the exhibit opening receptions - can't beat the complimentary wine! - and also recently attended several external events hosted in the space. I love the exposed brick and duct work; it feels edgy and urban but sophisticated. As an event center, the Gallery could be greatly improved by a few more bathrooms....but I'm overall very impressed with Long View's management of every event I've attended. The space needs little enhancement, the staff are friendly, the art is clearly of high caliber - it's a great space!

Tamari Mitaishvili: We saw one of the exhibitions❤️❤️❤️ such a great place. 😍 Worth stopping by to explore the work of rising artists❤️

Josh Wilson: I attended an event here a few weeks ago and the Gallery was a great place for it. They have two main areas, once being the show room type area and another area up a short ramp towards the back that is nice for a VIP type area. It is easily accessible from the metro and fairly easy to spot on the street, thanks to the large windows in front.

Morton Fine Art LLC: what do users think?

Morton Fine Art: Thank you for this kind review, Charlene H! We appreciate you so much! - Morton Fine Art "Welcoming - the first word that comes to mind when I think of Morton Fine Art (MFA). Tucked away on a corner of Florida Avenue, NW in the heart of the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC, the gallery is both an ideal place for new collectors to enter the art world and for more experienced collectors to discover something new. If you are looking for snobbishness, go elsewhere. MFA is operated on the premise that art should be accessible to everyone. Owner and head curator Amy Morton showcases a talented selection of national and international contemporary artists working in a range of mediums, styles, and themes. MFA’s physical space lends itself well to experiencing the art – unobtrusive white walls and lighting allow art and viewer to connect. Morton and her team rotate the collection often, making MFA a new place each time I visit (which is often), yet still one that feels like I’m coming home to old friends." Charlene Hardy

Robin Brown: I was heading to the Ethiopian restaurant around the corner and parked a bit far. So while walking, I discovered this gallery place. Just stopped by to see what they had. The ladies that run the shop were quite awesome and asked if I had any questions. The art here was mind-blowing. I may actually be investing in some pieces in the near future. I am putting them on my list to watch in case they have any events coming up.

gusb. Heroe: Great! Real professional gallery that knows about art and framing! Excellent customer services, knowledgeable all around!

Rafael DeJesus: Great staff and service. Wide variety of artist pieces of art

Hemphill Artworks: what do users think?

Austin Graff: Hemphill Fine Arts is one of the few galleries across the city off the National Mall and one of the even fewer commercial galleries in DC. Located on 14th St NW in the U Street neighborhood, it's a small gallery in a commercial building open Tuesday-Saturday 10AM-5PM. You can make an appointment or just walk in during those hours. Once they buzz you in, follow the sign to the elevator and take it up a floor or two. Once the elevator opens, you'll see the tall glass door inviting you into space. Before you explore, sign the guestbook, read about the gallery's history, and take a pin (for free!). As you wander through the gallery, you'll see it's really two main rooms and the exhibits change every few months. The exhibit I saw was very modern art forward with perfect lighting making it look good on Instagram. If you're in the area, stop by. It's free and will only take 10 minutes, but it's worth it!

Edward Grandi: One of best galleries in the city. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the market for artwork for home or office.

John Grunwell: A rare DC art gallery that exhibits amazing art by extraordinary artists.

Wael Faddah: Excellent service, unique art.... They just know how to earn your business.

Touchstone Gallery: what do users think?

Julia Moss: What a great surprise. A members based gallery also featuring other local artists. I was greatly impressed with the wide range of themes, mediums and styles of this eclectic group of artists. I had a pleasure speaking with the staff and look forward to returning for their 2nd Friday monthly gallery openings. Stop in for a look and spark up a conversation to learn more about this great D.C artists hub.
Response: Thank you!

Nargess Karimian: It was my first private art show experience. Really enjoyed myself. The gallery lights the artwork quite nicely.

Karen: An interesting art gallery that's also a nice place for receptions or corporate events. They normally have a reception the first Friday of every month to introduce that month's artists, as well as a member exhibition. I've had some nice conversations with the exhibiting artists.

F E Downey: Shows are always well curated. Gallery is well administered. As a Co-op, artists pay annually to exhibit here. So milenium or other young artists rarely exhibit here. Great Downton DC location - on south border of Shaw District. City Center two blocks away and great restaurants on every block. Used to have monthly first Friday openings, so always a diverse, large and interesting downtown crowd. Recently changed to Saturday afternoon openings (1:00 PM to 3:00 PM), so no downtown crowd, mostly elderly suburban crowd. Need to rethink time of openings to attract younger art buyers. Check out shows; a few really good artists exhibit here at very reasonable prices. The rest of the exhibited artists produce average works, probably because most have or had full-time jobs in another professions (i.e., part-time artists).

Peter Putterman: Love places to exhibit and promote the arts.

J. Anderson: There is an eclectic selection of artworks from local artists. It was nice to browse the variety in the gallery.

Michael Lai: I had an awesome time here. Depends on the event, there could be a wine tasting going on. Small venue, but resonating work pieces. Artists are occasionally on site to talk about their works and you can negotiate prices on buying.
Response: Thank you, please stop by again! Touchstone Gallery management.

Ksenia Grishkova Orol: Modern contemporary art gallery space with 45 local artists on display. Ground level. The gallery itself was established in 1976 and has been at 901 New York Ave since 2010. Monthly rotating exhibitions with first Friday's opening receptions that are free and open to public. Space is also available for special event rentals.

David Ford Jr.: I like to go to Touchstone for their first friday shows, the first Friday evening of every month. The art is refreshingly interesting and the staff at Touchstone are nonpareil

Martha Spak Gallery: what do users think?

Bonnie Carr: When I needed a painting for our family room in our Nantucket home, I knew exactly the artist I wanted to work with. We had purchased two of Martha's paintings several years ago, and absolutely love them. From start to finish, Martha was the consummate professional, working with me to figure out the appropriate dimensions and perfect color match. Ultimately she created a beautiful coastal landscape for us that is both serene and stunning and garners rave reviews from anyone who sees it!
Response: Thank you for interest and support of my work. It is always a pleasure working with you to find the art piece that is just right for your home. It is such a honor for me when a client adds one piece and truly special when additional pieces are added to their collection. Thanks Bonnie!

Julie Sapone: Martha Spak's gallery at the Wharf evokes a feeling of quiet elegance and sophisticaton, much like the artist herself. I love her art for the same reason and made a decision to to commission her to create a painting for my personal residence. I had an art consultation with her and she listened to what I said I was looking for in regard to content, took measurments of my room and furniture to ensure proper scale, provided suggestions on colors, and ultimately created the custom piece I was looking for and love. My expereince with Martha was A+++ . I highly recommend!
Response: Thank you so much Julie! It was a pleasure to collaborate with you and create this painting for you. I am honored to have my painting in your beautiful home and I can't thank you enough!

Jennifer Geiger: I saw Martha's art in Pottery Barn so I was so excited to see her newest gallery at The Wharf! My husband and I dropped by on a Sunday and it didn't disappoint. I go back every month to see her new art, the guest artist and her trunk shows (love the jewelry)! So many gorgeous paintings, the gallery is such a beautiful space. A "must stop" when you are at The Wharf.
Response: Thank you for visiting the gallery and for your review!

McGowan Teacher: Martha's art AND hospitality were elegant. Gracious in all aspects...the space and the pleasure it was being able to discuss her art with her...all the way down to how she described with relish and happy anticipation the reception she was having for a fellow artist later that day. Not an ounce of pretense. Refreshing; something for everyone.
Response: Thank you so much for visiting the gallery and your review!

Natasha Thompson (Natasha): Nice space, imo art was a little bland/ uninteresting.
Response: I hope you have been able to come back to the gallery since 2018. I feature local artists in monthly themed exhibitions. There is something new to see all the time. Stop by for a guided tour.

Cardell Miles: Great Gallery

Art Museum of the Americas: what do users think?

eriko p: What an oasis! This is a very small museum. It feels more like a gallery space. There is $5 donation if you want, but it is free. The building is charming and I am guessing it was once a beautiful home. We truly loved Geandy Pavon's work. She is truly a talented artist. I especially enjoyed the tiled enclosed patio with the wall of windows looking out towards the garden. If you want a experience a small museum and don't have a lot of time, the Art Museum of the Americas is a perfect escape from the city and for one to enjoy art.

Hilda Kroll: If you've never visited this wonderful little museum, now is the perfect time to go. It's open every day except Monday. A short walk from the DAR Museum, Renwick and White House. Lots of places to eat near the Foggy Bottom Metro.

Kausthob Das: Nice place to spend some free time if you are around the national mall area. 3 blocks away from the monument and has ample of street parking

ReCreate Artworks: The most beautiful place I’ve ever been. I wish I could have stayed longer. You could EASILY spend an entire day here—wear comfy shoes and make sure you go downstairs!

Jill Greenstein: Beautiful small gallery. Historic building. Temporary exhibition of work by contemporary Mexican women well curated from the museum's permanent collection. Lots of wall text to introduce the somewhat unknown (in the US) feminist artists. Well curated.

Austin Graff: I love a good museum, but this one is one that's safe to miss in DC: 1) It's VERY small. There are only two floors to it and the art isn't the best in DC. 2) They take suggested donations, so it does cost unless you want to feel guilty as the museum workers stare you down if you don't pay. Pluses: 1) One of the rooms is beautiful with its blue walls and cool architecture. 2) The back of the museum is great with a beautiful fountain. It would be a great place to rent for an event!

Lauren Brown: Small, free museum. The art was well curated. The top floor is from the collection. The second floor is for special exhibits. The front desk person seemed like he wanted to go home. I had a hard time seeing it because of all of the tour buses parked in the area. Bathrooms on the top floor. No gift shop.

Yinzú Nairouz: Love this small museum. It is free and the exhibitions change. They have a good outdoor space at the back

Sam Odle: Beautiful & often overlooked art museum! It’s not very big and parking nearby can be difficult so metro + walk or bike if you aren’t visiting at an off hour. Pro tip: download UniGuide from the App Store to have a self guided experience and not have to play around with getting that set up when you’re there.

Mary McPartland: Such a beautiful, unique, authentic Spanish-lovers artistically wonderful center. Peaceful and quiet interiors right near all the National Mall memorials. Great photo and art exhibit from Spanish Civil War and exhibits depicting all the strife of 1960s-70s Central and South America. Write ups next to the art are super informative. The physical space is gorgeous - open, airy, very beautiful courtyard and architecture. Very friendly reception and well kept grounds. Stop by for a history art lesson!

Matt Porembski: I rented this space for three openings, with the artist whom I represented in attendance. Although striving to be a positive influence in the DC fine art community, this space is not a professional gallery and could significantly improve the management and customer experience. Positive - Gallery owner was initially very supportive and accommodating leading up to the show - Kitchen on-site helpful for catering - The main gallery is a nice size with high ceilings - Several windows let in natural light, although this is not ideal for all art shows Negative - During my exhibition, the Gallery owner (an artist herself) took some of my clients to her studio upstairs; I was astonished at this lack of etiquette, especially with my artist there - Location is in an alley and hard for clients to find - The space combines the owner's living space and studio with the gallery, and therefore lacks the feel of a professional, independent gallery space

UnTouchMyHair: The aesthetics, the owner is warm and inviting, it's just beautiful

NIHAL KECECI THADANI: Best interior and exterior. Amazing art

Tone Walters: Nice!

Wilson “Will” Silva: Great experience!

De Novo Gallery: what do users think?

Marietta C: Awesome gallery loved the art and the space. Seriously a fun place to go to and take pictures. It definitely needs to have a bigger setup next time because we want more of this! Love the neon colors and the vibes. I would totally love to have any of those cool pieces in my place. Artsy fartsy approved!

John Seo: Amazing art pop up
