Mo Sadik: make sure price what you see is the same as checkout. It is misleading and deceptive tw an item on the menu with a price while on check out it’s a different price. •saying prices have changed is not an excuse. All customers need to see the prices reflecting the changes. •I am glad that the supervise understood my point. A previous employees told me “why I am arguing for a difference of few dollars” I explained it’s a matter of concept. They said “it’s on the house” I insisted to pay the price shown to me on the original menu. •I appreciate the guy who argued with me came to make sure I am not upset. But I totally disagree with the statement “we are both correct , you are correct and we are correct” . •This is a place with many customers I am sure . I don’t want for me or others to be shown prices different than checkout prices. •Asking if I came here before or not is not an excuse. •trying to make brush it off by excuses

Julio Blas: They have excellent service and good hookah and reasonable hookah prices compared to other places. Nice place to relax after a hard day at work. Very nice atmosphere if you just want relax in the afternoon and smoke shisha and if you want to party best time to come in the weekend. Teaism Dupont Circle: what do users think?

Min Li Fu: What a cute place to go for a meal before/after sight seeing at the White House. They have many unique and common tea selections. The food are Asian inspired and not like what you commonly see in other restaurants. Their cookies also look quite scrumptious.
Response: Hey Min - I'm glad you liked the Salty Oat cookies - we do ship them if you develop a craving - call me at 202-409-1285 and I can make it happen!

Jessica Martin: A utterly delightful tea, small plate, and sweets place that never disappoints. A comfortable selection of indoor and outdoor seating perfect for working on your computer or catching up with friends. I got the jasmine crème brûlée which is rich and fresh and the jasmine tea with is perfectly brewed, not bitter at all. Prices are very fair and the servers are kind too. And they have all the information for allergies like gluten on hand if you need it. I’m glad this location stays open until 8.
Response: Jessica, thank you so much for this thorough and kind review! We really appreciate it. Hope to see you again.

Bolo 'Ye: This place is great!! I highly recommend it. The food is very delicious, great location very convenient, friendly staff, it’s very quiet inside you can literally come here do your work and no disturbances. You can either sit on the first floor or 2nd to enjoy delicious food. If your looking for a parking garage, LAZ parking garage is 2 minutes driving $10 all day.

Henry Whelchel: Teaism is serious about their tea. I haven't had a cup quite this good in some time. The kitchen is also very talented.

Gaby Karakcheyeva: I go here very often and always get great quality food. I usually get the salmon bento box and the star of Africa tea and it never misses. I haven’t been disappointed by any of their food and the service is usually pretty quick depending on what you get, I’ve never waited more than 10-15 minutes
Response: Thanks Gaby - we're cooking from scratch so that takes time - trying to be as quick as we can. Hope to see you again soon.

Ido Simyoni: Went for lunch. Counter service only. Even though we set upstairs, we had to come down to get our food. They messed up my order but fixed it within couple of minutes . Food was good After all.

Ronak Patel: Come here!! Not only is there a wide selection of teas and beverages, they have really great food. While we only came for some tea and an appetizer, it was all made exactly how we wanted it and one of the employees suggested these broccoli tots after I had ordered another broccoli appetizer (so I followed her suggestion) and I was not disappointed!

Jane Jing: So many tea choices. There was so much noise from the kitchen when we sat on the second floor.

Amorah Shakti: Felt like I was eating cafeteria food. I ordered the curry lentil soup. It tasted from a can and was not made with fresh ingredients….I also ordered the sweet potatoes with miso sauce. They were served cold, straight out of the fridge. It was also quite an unusual combination and tasted weird… The shop offered to microwave it, I declined. The tea selection was decent but didn’t have the quality I was looking for. Service was ok, but didn’t seem to care. Bye Teaism 👋

S D: I am not one to leave bad reviews but I feel like I have to, sadly. Firstly, maybe it was an off day, but the staff was not very helpful nor friendly. Since it was my first time here (and honestly I've heard good things), I was expecting more when I was asking questions, but I guess that's my bad - should have researched on my own. Secondly, and most importantly, the gentlemen making my "tea" did not close the lid correctly, nor did they warn me about the defective cup. So when I left, the lid opened up, spilling boiling hot water all over my hand. I now have painful burn marks on me. It's been a day, but I am still extremely upset and disappointed and I feel like I wasted my money on this place that (no offense) is not even that good.
Response: Hi S, please let us say we are so sorry that this was your experience. If you can email us your information at info@teaism.com we would like to send you a gift card to visit us again. We do know that with supply chain issues we have sometimes been receiving cup lids from different brands and there are slight differences that mean our team has to be extra careful that the lids are put on properly- that is no excuse however for you to receive an improperly attached lid. Our apologies again, and hope you will write to us at info@teaism.com.

Calabash Tea & Tonic: what do users think?

Marcelle M (Traveling Miles): Unique neighborhood tea shop with so much more to offer. I had a delicious Matcha Maca and a Spinach pastry (so good, just the right amount of heat). Loved the variety of bagged teas and accessories. Can’t wait to try more. Nice seating area outside.

Rebecca Wolf: Calabash is the best! When you come to Calabash, the team will ask you how you’re feeling to help direct you to a healing drink. They also have TONS of goodies to purchase for use at home, too. Their outdoor patio is a perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Nicole Edwards: Great reprieve from the hustle and bustle. Wonderful place for small kids AND fur babies- hard feat in a small space. Delicious, affordable, healthy and staff is beyond helpful and efficient. Great experience!!!!

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: So I first experience the spots tea at Queen Mothers in Arlington Virginia. I was so elated by the freshness, and outright deliciousness of their products, I took a mental note to go to this spot!! @calabashtea Located at 2701 12th St., N.E. Washington D.C., right on the corner, this spot is emitting a Divine Energy on that whole block!! I had their “Panther Par-Tea”Half-and-Half, and their “My Last Good Nerve” Lemonade (cold) when I first tried them…STAMP!! Their products are made with attention to detail, love, and your well-being in mind… Trust that!! . . . On this trip I got quite a few things… so let’s get into it. Firstly I copped their Vegan BLT (pictured with their house made coconut bacon $6.99). STAMP!! It has house made coconut bacon!! It’s the BEST faux bacon I’ve ever had!! . . Next I copped their Veggie Patty (pictured soy free with cabbage, corn, carrot, curry, onion, and garlic $3.99). DELICIOUS!! It reminds me of a pot pie. . . I also couldn’t resist getting their sweet potato pie bite & the cherry pie bite (both pictured at $3.99 each). For these to be vegan, they’re ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! . . Their chilled tea’s, I got, were all $4.99 each (All pictured). The Triple Goddess Lemonade has Organic Jamaican ginger, Sri Lankan Tumeric, Thai Galangal, & South African Red Bush. It’s a immunity booster, & inflammation fighter. STAMP!! . The Love Potion Chai has a high grade Assam Black tea, Jamaican Ginger, Madagascar Vanilla, Ceylon cinnamon, oat milk, Love, and Chai spices in it!! It’s a feel good tea, a mental stability tea, a LOVE tea…oh and it’s ridiculously tasty!! STAMP!! . I got their Jamaican Ginger Sorrel too. This has organic hibiscus, Jamaican Ginger, Thai lemongrass, Orange Zest, Jamaican Spices, and LOVE!! It’s a detoxifier & a blood pressure regulator!! STAMP!! . Lastly I got their My Last Good Nerve tea…hot!! It has organic lavender, outstraw, Passionfruit, rosehip, LOVE, and I got oatmilk put in it. This tea eases anxiety…STAMP!! . The customer service in establishment is excellent. The store is clean. Their website is easy to navigate. Parking is decent. GO!! That’s it. #bigschlimsreviews

Sydney Browne: When I called to ask if they were open, the owner immediately replied, “Fall through, boo!” And I knew in that moment, I was headed to the right place. From pulling up, to ordering, to sitting in the healing garden, and being accommodated thoroughly, the entire experience was aligned and appreciated. I ordered the BLT (per usual because it’s bomb), the Last Good Nerve Lemonade, An Apple Pie scoop, and a Triple Goddess Lemonade. This meal was everything I needed!! I’m 8 months pregnant, and everyone between the guests and staff, went OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure I was beyond comfortable. I will always be grateful for that. Calabash Tea and Tonic is one for the books! Don’t meet me there, beat me there because it’s that great.

Kajal Mawa: Okay so there’s a way it’s done, you walk in and you land into a different place. The place has a very trippy vibe! The tea guru asked me what kinda healing I needed and based on that improvised a tea that would cater to the kind of healing required 🤓🤩 It was a different experience and one to cherish! I was delighted to see that my cup read “love is calm” ❤️☕️ I loved the omega bite and the mix vegetables patty too 😍😇

Nils Hünerfürst: Love is free at Calabash. Tasty Vegan Pattie and a very welcoming service. See ya very soon.

Adele E: When you walk into this lovely shop, you are immediately welcomed with a burst of positivity energy. The tea gurus spent time with my friend and I to understand what type of healing we were in need of. He then suggested tea blends based on our needs. They are patient, kind and the teas & lemonades are very tasty

Blanca: I wanted to give this place four stars but I am going to give this place another try next time, because I’m sure they were having a bad day. but when I was asking some questions I felt like the barista didn’t really want to help or explain any of the tea’s into detail or maybe he wasn’t knowledgeable about any of the tea’s. But I did like the vibe and how beautiful the restaurant was. I really love their love potion it’s my most favorite drink

Lindsey Coates Horvatich: Updated: The teas and the customer service are above and beyond! I did not expect to receive a call from the company hoping to resolve a shipping issue. As someone who has many autoimmune health issues, I have turned to teas to reduce the need for medications and I cannot say enough good things about Calabash. I also give the teas and bath salts as gifts. This company cares not only about customers, but about the growers and producers as well. Don't worry, Calabash. You have this Florida girl as a customer for a long time! I have been ordering from Calabash for a few months now and really love their teas! The only problem I have is when I received the wrong item in an order, I tried to contact the company via recommended communication method and after three tries and a few weeks I still don't have a response. They only offer their email address so there doesn't seem to be a way to get incorrect shipping orders resolved.
Response: Hi! Feel free to buzz at at the number listed 202-248-1186 (during our business hours) or inbox us on our chat feature on our website. We are happy that you love our items and want to always keep you happy. We look forward to chatting with you soon.

Sidamo Coffee & Tea: what do users think?

Kodi Wieland: Wow! The best cup of coffee my husband and I have ever had, hands down - not an exaggeration. Way to ruin all other coffee for us. There was only one person working and the service was great, friendly and efficient. I wish we lived closer, this would be our daily coffee.

Leandra de Labastida: The best Iced Chai Latte and Bacon/Egg Bagel, I've ever had. The staff is friendly and the location has fantastic WIFI. I was able to get a lot of work done. The place does get busy because it is amazing.

Black Star Dust: Wonderful place. The chai is the best in DC and Baltimore areas. It’s the best I’ve ever had by far. Rich natural flavors.

McLain Saba: My go-to coffee shop in DC 😊 The people are wonderful, the ambiance cozy, and the drinks are DELICIOUS! Their iced chai tea latte is my favorite, tried their hot chocolate for the first time and love it. Quality drinks, quality wifi, quality space. All around wonderful

Noah Ifergan: Beautiful Ethiopian coffee shop with authentic ambience and delicious coffee. Workspace and wifi too. Highly recommend!

sefanit tekle: This place is amazing! Their coffee was amazing and so is their breakfast sandwiches! It's hard to find good places for breakfast on H street so I was happy to grab something quick. Highly recommend 10/10 :)

Rachel B: Really wonderful coffee shop, and I absolutely love the Ethiopian influence. It’s something so unique to a coffee shop. Nice to have a place highlighting Ethiopian coffees! I got a very delicious everything bagel here as well (see picture below 😜). The shop itself has cozy, quiet vibes (at least when I was there), and great service! The other cool thing is they serve some Ethiopian food - also see the picture below! Didn’t get to try that since it was breakfast time, but would love to try it someday. Look forward to returning. #sidamo #coffee #tea #Ethiopian #cozy #everythingbagel

Shantrice King: I went to Sidamo around noon today with the plan of doing a couple hours of work on my laptop. I have been to the coffee and tea shop a couple of times before but always on a weekday. After I ordered, I sat down at one of the many empty tables and pulled out my laptop. I barely had time to open my web browser before the owner came over to me and said he would allow me to stay for 1 hr and then I had to leave. He went on to say that on the weekends he does not allow people to do work there because " you spend $5 and then are here all day. If 8 of you come and use each of the tables then I make what $50, can I pay my light bill with $50?" Both his math and customer service skills are off. I told him ok and went to the counter to retrieve the pastry I ordered. He followed me over to say that I needed to wrap up what I was doing and if I wanted, I could go to the backyard area and work from one of the tables there. He emphasized that I had already used up 15 minutes of the 1 hr he had allotted me so I needed to move quickly. I collected my pastry, packed up and left. To stay would have been interpreted as consent for how I was spoken to and treated. I understand running a small business is hard but if there are constant issues such as people working on their laptops during the weekend and taking up space, then he could implement simple solutions such as signage on the tables and other visible areas that let customers know that you can't do work there on the weekends and there are time limits for the tables. He lacks effective communication skills which I believe is critical to running a business. I am also disappointed by this experience because I was hoping to introduce family and friends to it when they visit the area. 0/10, would not recommend.

Erin DiGiuseppe: Went here for breakfast after staying at an air bnb nearby. They have several vegan options, including a vegan breakfast (hummus, tomato, lettuce, avocado on a bagel) that was DELICIOUS, and some vegan cookies as well. We also got the Ethiopian coffee service which was really special and comes with burning incense that really adds to the olfactory experience. I’m sad we’ll be leaving today but I’m so glad we came. The wait was a bit long, but worth it.

Lauren S: My sister and I didn't get to try the coffee. Heard good things about this place and decided to stop by after a workout. Before we visited Sidamo, we went to Whole Foods to buy soup and other items. Then we entered Sidamo and placed our Whole Food bags and backpack at a table so we could order our coffee at the counter. But before we could order our drinks from the barista, a man sitting at one of the tables, possibly the owner or manager, said something to us that we didn't fully understand. He either said no Starbucks or no service, not really sure. Maybe he was confused and thought the Whole Foods soup container was a Starbucks cup. The vibe/atmosphere of this coffee shop was incredibly unfriendly, the man was belittling, and both my sister and I felt very uncomfortable. I'm sure the coffee is great here however we were unable to order because the man was very unwelcoming. Do not recommend this place.

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: My sister challenged me to find a bakery that sold more than sweets. I found this spot that’s been in existence for quite some time. The Cities: Great selection of hand-crafted tarts. I suggest the Lavender-Earl grey tea experience to whet your appetite for the artisanal voyage upon which you will soon embark: rose, pistachio, pickled cherry blossoms, saffron, passion fruit and many more flavours with which to delight.

Bil E: i’ve had one very good baked item in this town, so i know it is possible. who knew that my area was comparatively much better at baking. these items were a flat three. texture in one was… poor. the other item was… ok. like, not worth the carbs.

Jane L: I ordered two of Souk's pastry boxes and they were truly spectacular. I felt like I was getting what people eat at Michelin Star restaurants for a more affordable price... Creative pieces baked with careful thoughtfulness and high quality ingredients. I have since recommended these boxes over all of the others I have tried during quarantine! Bonus bc they brought me to the Capitol Hill area when I hadn't been in what felt like a year.

Jassett M: Great neighborhood spot! I'm obsessed with the Lavender Ginger Lemonade & I really enjoy the Lemon Tea Cake. I look forward to the time when we can go into the market post-COVID restrictions and look at the various spices that they sell as well.

Leslie Middleton: If you order from Souk, you can expect tasty food. That's it. Before you get too excited about the food, just know that this tasty food is unlikely to be what you wanted or intended to order. What you'll find out when you order is that this place has a secret menu and the pictures on the window are just there to let you know that they have experience cooking. In no way does the menu provided accurately reflect the actual food that's available at the store. Oh and as a bonus the person serving you will likely have a terrible attitude and treat you like a nusiance. There will be no apology for the unavailable items and no patience while you choose alternatives. It's probably best to just stay away.

Denis C: Pretty rude service...not sure why? Was approaching to the window (outside) and person standing inside 10 yards away yelling at you to put mask on. Was weird... Croissant was super dry and looked old... But how can coffee be warm??? Unfortunately I already left otherwise I'd return that coffee. 9.45am and you serve warm coffee???

Diana Vays: Everything was absolutely delicious and baked to perfection, I got regular and saffron caneles as well as black sesame and honey pistachio koun amman which are faves of mine and they were all amazing although I would say the black sesame tasted more of apricot jam than black sesame but still delicious. I also got the spicy cheese( calzone?) Ham n cheese croissant chocolate hazelnut tart and passion fruit saffron bar, these were all baked perfectly as well but my faves were still the caneles. We also got a cappuccino and latte and loved it. I will say the staff needs more training as it seemed only one staff member knew what was going on and the place was packed so service was extremely slow. I wasn't in a rush but I would definitely skip this place if I was. Still didn't let that hinder my enjoyment of this excellent bakery.

Matthew Holly: Frankly awesome bakery. Cardamom buns are fantastic, and their Kouign-amanns are on another level entirely (this is a difficult pastry to get right, and Souk serves perfection.) Try the honey pistachio one and thank the cosmos you get to experience it. They also serve coffee from Vigilante, a local roaster out in Hyattsville.

Vanessa Guerra: My girlfriend just picked a sorted box of goodies from Souk and we are in heaven. They are practicing social distance, and their baked goods quality remains high (more like amazing). *edited review - take out If you are looking for an amazing bakery in DC, look no further. From the flaky layers of a well made croissant, to the deep and foamy taste of a perfectly made americano - this place has it all. It really is an experience worthwhile.

The Mediterranean Way Gourmet Market: what do users think?

Gabriel Tavares: I couldn’t find what I was looking for, but the service was deserved at 5 stars, if they get there they will certainly be well attended...

dipika: There's a wide selection of oils, sauces, cheeses, and pastas here to help you host or gift a refined Mediterranean meal. They carry regional snacks that seem authentic too, plus a unique selection of wines from the region, which is a treat because DC doesn't typically embrace Greek wines for example. One thing that bugged me is when I asked if their bakery items had gelatin, and after a long pause the guy working there said "Yes, I decided not to lie to you about it" as if lying to me about something I don't eat was a valid option. So, basically I won't be back for anything that wasn't factory packaged.

Maximilian Bachmann: From gourmet chocolates to special pastas. Large wine selection featuring wines not found elsewhere. Sonor Wines America collection and Grapes & Vibes sparkling’s

J Foodgeek: It's a little pricey but they have a lot of interesting Mediterranean products. They also have a bunch of chocolate truffle-like products in the front of the store which I have not tried.

Jasmin Hollywood: This place has fabulous imported gourmet goods from various nations. I was able to find Tetramythos Greek wine for a reasonable price and sparkling Italian water.

Leona Stewart: They have everything you need to act like you cooked it.

Hannah Shabenas: The gentleman tending the shop was very nice! He gave my sister and I samples of two different jelly candies and some Italian crackers. The shop had a lot of interesting stuff, it reminded me of the shops we visited in Greece. Very neat!

Nash Stamson: Very cute store, good selection of Mediterranean food. Awesome oil and vinegar section. They were out of the exact cheese I wanted, but the friendly staff helped me find a good substitute. And for a specialty store, pretty affordable.

Evan Manuel: Great spot for Greek and Mediterranean food, wine and beer. Their Greek cheese selection is outstanding, and the Turkish and Greek spices are also stand outs. Of course, I mainly go for Greek Nescafé (to make frappes at home) and Greek chocolate. In addition to those Greek staples my wife also found a great prosecco there, too. A great store with equally friendly staff. Καταπληκτικώ!

Kathy L. Fortner: The Mediterranean Way did a fantastic job creating a most wonderful gift basket for professionals attending a National Conference this week in Washington, DC. Their interest, promptness in completing the request, and timeliness of delivering the gift was perfect! The recipients were so, so pleased!!!

Ching Ching Cha: what do users think?

Caty Koehl: Had a wonderful, relaxing time here enjoying chicken rolls, dumplings and tea. The chicken roll was perfection and the tea was enjoyable. The server explained how to brew our teas and they refilled the kettle regularly so we were able to make multiple cups. The atmosphere is relaxing and we never felt rushed. The tea shop section is also great and has a varied selection of tea mugs and pots as well as a small group or tea pets. Highly recommend Ching Ching Cha for a afternoon slowdown.

Andrew Grassette: Cute little place in old Georgetown. They serve a variety of teas. We tried the lunch boxes as well as some of their dumpling and the food was a amazing. This place does get busy and they have a sign in sheet to keep track of who is waiting on a table but worth the wait.

James Wang: Quaint and authentic teahouse and shop that offers relief from the busy DC life. The servers are all very nice and the expansive menu of tea options is divine. I would highly recommend coming in and spending an hour drinking tea and eating the small appetizers they have.

Pelumi Ajayi: It was a really decent Chinese tea house experience. They had a whole booklet of tea options. Oolong, black, green and some fruity teas I believe. Their food collection is very limited and rightfully so given that the tea is supposed to be the star of the show.

Sam M: A very unique and cozy teahouse and shop in Georgetown. This place is pretty quiet and has a great ambiance, a perfect place to relax from busy DC. I was greeted by the waitress and seated immediately. They have an extensive menu of traditional teas and also some unique teas. They had so many good teas, but I ordered Jasmine blossom and peach blossom teas. I also had pineapple cakes, which was recommended by the waitress. Both teas were very flavorful and delicious, but the pineapple cakes were just out of this world! So good! I believe they make them in house too. They also have a lunch box and dumplings, which looked really good. After enjoying those teas, I was looking around the shop. They have a lot of beautiful tea sets and decors. I was thinking about getting some of them, but they were very expensive. Whenever I visit Filomena Italian restaurant, I always try to visit this place afterwards. They are right next door to each other, which is very convenient. After eating a heavy and greasy food, this place is complementary to filomena. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to take a break from the busy city.

Chiara: GET. THE. BEEF. ROLLS! Might be my new favorite food. This place is unassuming but has the best food ever and the tea is great. Very calming experience and the staff are very friendly. I can’t wait to go back!

Bridget McGovern: This is the best tea salon I’ve been to in the DMV area. The atmosphere is calming and welcoming. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable about tea and explain the process of each of the different brewing methods for the different tea types. I couldn’t recommend this place higher.

Angus Bennion: Love this place! There are so many different teas that you can try here. The food is also very good. Not only are the food and drinks good, but they also have lots of tea paraphernalia and books that you can purchase.

Alan C.: Great quiet place to chill and get away from M Street in Georgetown. Relaxing and comfortable vibes. Nice assortment of teas. We ordered a Milk Oolong and a Da Hong Pao both served gongfu style in pretty yixing pottery. The lady gave us a quick lesson on how to make tea in this style. The hot water was left at our table for us to make multiple infusions. The food was also nice and light. Which was very comforting after eating so much highly seasoned food in DC. They also sold yixing pots as well as nice tea ware in their restaurant if you wanted to buy it.

Paul Mc: Excellent. Top tier. Must try. This spot is an absolute gem. It has a cozy tea house vibe, and a great tea variety. The green and oolong teas we tried were outstanding, and you’re given the whole tea set to brew your own tea with. This is a very fun experience, not to mention the deserts are fantastic and pair excellently with the tea. I think the food is less interesting than the tea and deserts, so I’d prioritize those. Staff was attentive and nice as well. Amazing, will come again.

Khartoum Halal Bakkal: what do users think?

Hanadi nabag: It's a great place for good halal meat, Sudanese and Arabic spices. l enjoyed shopping there.

Natasha Madorsky: Love this place! The owner Ahmed is such a sweetheart- they have an incredible selection of nice spices, delicious food items and ingredients from across the Middle East/Arab world and beyond. Such a blessing to have this place in NW DC!

dipika: Super excited to find a shop carrying basic Indian groceries in my neighborhood. Clearly some items here are being resold but it's easy to know what's what. Seems like pretty much any middle eastern ingredient you can think of can be found here so I'll definitely be coming back to check out more. This is definitely a bodega so expect a massive mark up and "what you see is what we've got" situation. Almost everything is super overpriced.

Yannick: literally have to pray that they have lamb or goat before I go… never stocked well and often when I go theyve offered me FROZEN meat…you supposed to be fresh…step up the stock if you can please there is a community relying on you

Turquoise Afro: The one place to get the dry date variety. Scrumptious and not too sweet. Reminds me of varietals from Eritrea.

Diana Rayes: This market does not meet minimum standards of cleanliness, including cleaning out expired inventory. I had to clean my entire pantry out because of expired products (even dry goods!!) that I purchased from this shop. Do not recommend.

Arif Shaikh: Only place I believe for Halal Shop near Dupont and Georgetown. I just get meat from there. Rest of the Stuff is super Expensive. 3 times than Costco. 2 times than Giant. Store needs proper cleaning.

Osama Mohamed: Good place for shopping halal foods

Andrés Chang: Small shop for spices, mango juice, labneh, and other ingredients food items, hookah stuff, and the like. There is sometimes prepared food and desserts available also.

Kimberly Bleu: Small store with outdated food items.

Yellow the Cafe: what do users think?

Christopher Lew: tl;dr: Cute coffee with great service that offers delicious pastries and standard & outsourced 3rd wave coffee at a cost. Sfeeha - 4/5: Amazing depth of flavor! I was disappointed at the size of the portion for $9, but it was really delicious. You could really taste all the spices in the meat pie portion and the pastry part was perfectly crunchy and warm! If you are looking to splurge, this is a great option. Drop Coffee - 3/5: It was standard coffee of single origin Guatemala medium roast. I was hoping they would have multiple drip coffees available as I usually drink light roast, but there was only one standard medium roast, but fwiw, it was not bad! Ambiance/Decor - 5/5: What a cute cafe! I loved the decor and with the name yellow, it really stood out with bright yellow solid colors mixed with middle eastern inspired geometric designs. Bathrooms - 5/5: 3(!) gender neutral restrooms available! Very clean, and no proof of purchase or key required to use them. Verdict: I'll be back to splurge on the other pastries!

Jay patel: Delicious morning pastries both sweet and savory.Got the the Zatar labneh, olive oil cake, almond croissant. All three were really yummy I loved the olive oil cake personally. Really fast service as well and nicely packaged .

Scott Nguyen: The croissants were delicious, large, light, and flakey. My only negative is they are so pricey but I'm scoring Yellow the Cafe based purely on the taste and looks of the croissants. Be expected to pay a bit for the pastries but it will be quality.

Arnold: Great bakery/cafe for lunch or breakfast. Good variety of sandwiches and pastries. The chocolate croissants was one of the best I've had, it had some sort of cream filling inside which was unique. Can't go wrong with anything you get here.

Jake S: An absolute delight for a quick breakfast or brunch meal. I got the pita breakfast sandwich & it was incredibly tasty. Great flavouring and awesome quality ingredients. A bit on the pricier side as far as breakfast sandwiches go and likely would want more than the portioned size. A great chai latte as well from the place. Staff were pleasant & quick as well! Would definitely come back

Ali Elreichouni: Absolutely incredible! Every single menu item we tried blew us away. The bread was so soft, warm, and filled with flavor. The bagels are unique, tasty, and pack a flavor punch with every bite. The kefta egg bagel and the falafel sandwich (pictured) were exceptional, and had unique flavors twisted into traditional dishes. The labne paired with the pita chips are also a hit. The tahini ice cream.... don’t even get me started about that, absolute heaven with every bite, both alone and in the affogato.

Austin Graff: Yellow is a bakery that's open Tuesday-Sunday from 8am-2pm in the restaurant Albi in Navy Yard. Due to the pandemic, they opened a window where you can order your food for takeout. There are a few outdoor tables for seating. The food and coffee is pricey, but worth it every once in a while. They sell baked goods, mezze, drinks and baked goods. For breakfast, I ordered their breakfast pita and it was tasty. Their basbousa is a really good pastry.

yasmin s: ok ok it's pricey. the coffee is good and priced like similar shops, but the pastry is expensive. BUT, it's stellar. it's talented and delicious and i don't think there's a better croissant in DC. get the croissants. get all the other pastries too, but please get the croissants. the space is also pretty and they have a nice amount of seating outside.

Mary Knight Bill Grant: Disappointed Back home in DC from work in the middle east, we were longing for a good Arabic style breakfast. Yellow the Cafe in Navy Yard sounded intriguing if expensive, but ended up falling far west of east. Takeout to their patio found us eating small portions that weren't mezze, just small. Rounded, fluffy pita, while inauthentic, was tasty and fresh -- the only item to savor in our $50 breakfast. Finally, the all important coffee was possibly the worst we've had since we returned home in 2020--milky and without coffee flavor. Nope, we won't be back.

Neydiann De Gracia: It is very complex for those who go for the first time. One feels encouraged to order something that is visible or venture with something unknown, to reduce the line. The coffee is delicious and the cinnamon cookie is very good. But they do have an interesting menu, which one could try with a little patience.

Teaism Penn Quarter: what do users think?

mike wittenburg: Five stars. Great food plenty of options. My friend was with me, a Teaism fan for many years and she noticed a few things missing from the menu recently. The French toast is awesome, just awesome. Tea selection is obviously great. Outdoor seating is limited, but inside there are two levels of seating. Vegetable kabobs are good. Food is prepared quickly so don't be afraid to wait in line to order. Great vegetarian options. Enjoy

Jon and Amanda Lewis: Stopped in for a quick snack after visiting the National Gallery of Art. Ordered a traditional bubble tea and a Salty Oat cookie (like an oatmeal raisin). Both were excellent. The rest of the menu looked fun. There are some sandwiches and bento boxes. Want to come back!

Christine R: Vegan ginger scones, beet burger, salmon binto box, and berry tea....drooling. This is a wonderful place to eat, relax, and get out of the cold- right by the Archives metro stop. The lady that works the cash register knows the menu inside and out. She's worked there for years and is super kind. The first floor is wheel chair accessible, including the bathroom. The basement is not.

Karina Kisselite: There was a lot of sitting - the place has two floors. Their menu is kind of fun - an Asian fusion. The taste was just ok though. Not bad, but not smth to come back for. We had noodles with veggies and chicken okonomiyaki. Chocolate salted oatmeal cookie for dessert - that one was good. The place has a great selection of tees. A bit on a dirtier side when it gets busy. You order upstairs and have to wait for them to call your order.

Trev: I was walking to my car when I stumbled across this Tea shop. Atmosphere was great soon as I walked in. I tried The lavender lemon mint and the Korean beef brisket sandwich . It was amazing no complaints from me! I love the vibes in the shop for sure I really recommend giving this a try ! 5/5 from me for my 1st time 👍🏼

Proficient Potato: Not your traditional bubble tea offering, but they have so many other flavors I haven’t tried before! They also have warm food options, and have a binder with all of the Allergens for each dish and if contains meat right by the order counter! The food I got was great, warm, filling, and well spiced. First place I’ve had a paper boba straw!

Elias Chelala: A huge selection of teas complimented with an Asian fusion menu. I ordered the Okonomiyaki and my friend ordered the Korean Brisket sandwich. I also ordered the sweet matcha tea and added boba. My friend ordered regular black tea with boba. The tea was very refreshing on a hot DC day and we both left satisfied.
Response: Thank you, Elias!

Rick Schwartz: The Bento boxes were OK, but looked much better in the pictures online. The $4 Boba was the best thing we had here. I wouldn't come back for the Bento boxes.

Zachary Tyler: Amazing blend of tasty, reasonably priced food with high quality and traditional varieties of tea. The silver needle white tea was amazing.
Response: Thank you Zachary! We love the silver needle too. Hope to see you again 😊

Yessenia C: The food is so delicious! Their chicken bento box is a must have, it comes with cold sweet potatoes and cold broccoli!. The onion sauce is dynamite! Their Korean brisket sandwich is really good. The sweet Japanese green tea (matcha) is refreshing. The teas are really good as well. 2 doors down they have a tea shop. UPDATE as of 5/18/22 They have brought back the panko fried chicken! I was told the menu will be changing soon.
Response: Hey Yessenia - I'm so glad you enjoyed your lunch at Teaism - and your visit to the shop. The shop has so many lovely things - if you are starting your holiday shopping!

Danny L: Low key dine in and take out. Kinda fast food but better quality. Price ranges from $10-20. Very close to metro station. No restroom for customers. Food is ok.

Priya.kapurnest Priya.Kapurnest: This is a labanes fast food to order place which is located in Washington d.c. close to several bars and Thomas circle, prime location for after bar late night food place open till 3am while bars close around 2am. All Hispanic employees and don't speak much english but know only food names. it was bit difficult but was able to order. They make fresh for each order, very hard working employees and cook quality food as ordered. We enjoyed falafel on pitta bread roll and beef similar way , it was bit dry for me but okay for her falafel. It was tasty, fresh, quality food at 2am. If around do visit this place as good and fresh food with least calories.

J Foodgeek: Chicken shawarma and in was good. They do bowls too. I was still hungry after the Pita sandwich though.

Latia Foster: Food was delicious, my team ate here this past week and we had a large order. Everyone was able to get what they ordered. I have the lemonade with my meal and it was so refreshing

Linden Yee: Great for a quick late night bite. The manakeesh are solid and a decent price and the service is quick. Not the best falafel or shawarma in the area, but one of my favorite options for fast food.

Eman Sh: If you're going there in hopes of their old shawarma, run away!! My husband just purchased chicken and beef shawarma sandwhiches for lunch, and they were such a dissapointment! The chicken was dry, chopped in chuncks, with no shawarma taste and menial garlic sauce (though he asked for extra). The beef had a sour taste, and it had more of the cucumber salad than meat! What happened to this place?! With all the shawarma options in the area, we won't be going back-save your time, money, and tastebuds.

Juan M: Love this place. They are very clean and very professional. Two lady’s at the front are very friendly and professional. Food was exceptional delicious. I can come here everyday and don’t get bored. I really recommend to try the Nutella crepes. Prices are very cheap and the service is super fasts. If you’re lucky you could get a parking spot in front o the restaurant (remember to pay for it😜)
Response: Thanks Juan! What a great review! We love it when we read something like this. it's always great to be appreciated for what we do right. Thanks again, and see you on your next visit!

Dhruv Jaiswal: Good food ! Have good options and menu ! We took chicken and falafel which were pretty good !We went there super late so was Amazingly busy ! Took about 35 mins to get out order !

Halah A: Was told to leave because I had a dog. Tried to explain she was a service animal, and the manager (?) wouldn’t try to listen. The place was empty, so it wasn’t even an issue of being too busy to listen / too many people to attend to. Very disappointed, especially since I’ve been a muncheez supporter since it opened on Wisconsin 10ish years ago.

Ashleah Younker: This was pretty good! I made my own bowl with their chicken shwarma. Their mint lemonade was delicious!

Mediterranean Bakery Inc: what do users think?

beyondTabu: Lots of choices in the grocery. They seem to be constantly busy. The take away kebab was ok’ish. The baklava was actually pretty good (which is what I initially wanted). I’ll try other food options next time.
Response: Thank you for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed our baklava, but our apologies that the kebob wasn't as good. If you're looking for a recommendations -- I think the Zaatar & Lebne pizza (manaeesh) is excellent, and if you add olives as a topping, it's amazing :-)

Clarence A Ratliff Jr. (METALFNGRZ88): The Falafel sandwiches and the pastries are incredibly delicious. Like a best kept secret on the west end, if I wasn't living so close to it I might never stopped in to try it. I've had their Turkish coffee as well, but I'm not sure what good coffee taste like so I'm not gonna front. I did feel like a ten year old sipping a tea cup but I'm thinking that's part of the Experience. I dunno, lemme go run this by no one and get back to you. Food A++ though.

Michael Zarnegar: Delicious Mediterranean / Lebanese food. Been visiting since I was a teen back in the day. The quality and the taste has always been why visit. One stop shop with groceries amd fresh daily made pastries. A mist try if you are in the area...

Jen Castro: I ordered the Chicken Gyro and Falafel Platter. It was okay.
Response: Hi, Jen. Thank you for the review. I'm sorry that your food was just okay. From the picture you posted, I know we should have given you more veggies on the platter. I'll talk to the cooks about that. Is there anything else we could do to improve?

Riskittles: The pastries are delicious! We tried the tomato and labne, spanokopita, and beef and labne options as well as some baklava. The pastries are served cold, but there were warm sandwich/pizza options that also looked delicious if you wanted a warm meal. While we were eating, they magically gave us free hummus and pita on the house! The hummus is very tahini-forward, which I love (we ended up buying a hub to take home as well).

Francisco Salazar: Great assortment of snatching you may need for Mediterranean style cooking, also a great deli with bakery

Dani Elle: Great little Mediterranean bakery located in the West End Village shopping center. I love their fresh pita, baked goods, and prepackaged, refrigerated foods. The cashier also wiped down the checkout conveyor belt between orders. Happy to have this West End neighborhood gem!

Charlie Souvannavong: This is the only place I know of where I can get authentic Greek cheeses like Kefalotyri and other Greek ingredients. Most other Mediterranean shops will have Turkish and Persian products. If you are in need of authentic Greek products, this is the place to come to. Also, there is a kitchen counter for to go foods. The menu looks pretty good. I will have to give it a try another time. The selection of imports from the Mediterranean is great, and the staff is very friendly.

Paul Haire: This place is a classic and a much loved and apprecitated foodie mecca. It has every Middle Eastern delicacy, dessert and spice you could want. Authentic fresh pita. The sandwiches are delicious.

gerhard sherif: Best Mediterranean place ever I love the Arabic pizza they make and the fresh bread and don't forget the sweets I would recommend this place 100 pct

zwawe xm: The cheese beef manaish was the best, it would have been easy 10/10 if it gad more meat. The chicken manaish were good but the lettuce brings the whole sandwich down and it needs a little of spice, I would say 6/10. 🌯🌯🌯🌯🌯😋😋😋😋😋 The place is very clean and cooking station seem very organized 👍👍👍👍👍 Looking forward to trying something similar to what I had today. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Reema Srivastava: I liked the Veggie platter and mint lemonade but the Shawarma platter with chicken was disappointing. Great location to grab a lunch on aSunny day. They have a couple of chairs & tables for outdoor seating.

Jeremy Lucas: Looks can be deceiving!!! I was hoping to get an authentic chicken shawarma experience, instead what I got was a dried chicken wrap. Extremely dry, flavorless chicken. The wrap was rock hard. The fries weren’t seasoned. Even after soaking it in ketchup and hot sauce, nothing. I can’t understand why they wrap it twice! The outer wrap is so thick you get a mouth full of bread before even reaching anything inside. I think they need to stop grilling the wrap. It’s just making them hard and dry. It can literally stand up on its own because it’s so hard!

Paul: Freshly prepared mid eastern food. Not much seating inside, but everything was tasty and freshly made. The MidEastern platter in pic is recommended.

Lara Hamze: Stopped here on the recommendation of a friend. We all got the chicken shawarma wraps; they were very good but not super filling. One might need 2 wraps to feel full. Didn't get to try anything else, but heard good things overall.

Ayman Jino: Food was good but kinda pricy ….tiny place no bathroom for paying customers…..the guy at the cashier have some attitude and was not professional u can’t behave this way in front of customers

Isis: Not a fan of the food here. There were some odd flavors in the Chicken Shawarma like cinnamon and pickles. The pita chips were super soggy, but the pita bread was leather dry. The advantage was my food was ready relatively quickly and ordering was simple.

Aayush Raj: Loved the shawarma wraps they served! Really delicious. We’ve tried a lot of Mediterranean places in the US but these guys do it well! Will definitely visit again!

Syed Ahmed Ullah: The staff is amazing. Always a pleasant experience here. The manakeesh (both chicken+cheese and steak+cheese) is very fresh and juicy. Also, they have the best French fries and crepes. Love the food here!!!

R Al-Dulaimi: Excellent customer service. Loved their crêpeMasks are required inside, thankfully they have outdoor dinning

Pandora White: I stopped here for brunch. I got the spinach omelette. The wait staff was amazing. I felt so welcome. The food was so yummy. The atmosphere was super chill and the music choices were nice. It was the type of place, you want to hang out in. Would recommend this to everyone.

Saminda Wijegunawardena: Enjoyed a nice lunch here with another family a couple weekends ago. They have a very solid middle eastern menu with every dish made with some of the freshest ingredients I've seen, it really shows up in the flavor. I had the chicken meatballs and they were quite good, definitely worth a try. Service was very friendly and accommodating, we never felt rushed. Location is good in that it's right next to the only garage, so definitely take advantage if you're driving.

Sezgin Arslan: Best turkish restaurant in washington dc, amazing mediterranean food. I felt so welcome. The food was so yummy. The atmosphere was super chill and the music choices were nice. It was the type of place, you want to hang out in. Would recommend this to everyone.

Nisha Desai: Had an amazing experience here for my bottomless birthday brunch for 14! It was so easy to make the reservation and they kept in touch with me to confirm everything for the day. The waiters are so friendly and professional. They kept the drinks and food coming and overall made my birthday amazing! All 14 people were satisfied with the food and drink options as well as the service, plus the brunch was a great value at $43/pp! Highly recommend!!

Khalil Rahman: The Iskender kebap here is phenomenal - the best I've had outside of Turkey itself. The waiter, Hassan, gladly accommodated my request to prepare the dish the way I'd had it the first time I'd ever tasted it, with tender, juicy chunks of marinated lamb. I was instantly transported back to my vacation in Istanbul. Cozy setting and authentically delicious food. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Forough Forozanfar: Good service & tasty food! entrées were on the small side for the cost! Very expensive!

Mohammad Shouman: The service here has really improved. The food is fantastic. The kunefe for dessert is a must-try.

Rashaun Parks: Not completely disappointed. My date only ate two bites of her entree. The waitress noticed, and instead of offering a refund or a recommendation she offered her a hot tea. That was the moment that put the 😒Meh in Mezè. (See what I did there?) I thoroughly enjoyed my selection. I recommend the Iskender, although I would probably request that it be prepared over rice next time. I’m willing to give this another chance because I love their (Hot and Cold) drink menu.

Anwar Sadek: I tried the fried calamari app and definitely I will have it there again. The Sis Kebab was just fantastic. Land was just and flavorful. Above all they have the best kunefe I ever tried. Most places have their dessert very sweet but this place has the right balance. That made their bakhlava mouthwatering. Overall loved everything about this place. Excellent customer service!

Merrill H: Had a very nice dinner here on New Year’s Eve. Outdoor seating was warm with a good heater and a solid canopy holding back the rain. The waiter had excellent recommendations and was attentive without intruding on a romantic dinner with my date. The food was great!

Gregory Alan: Really disappointed. Great food but they raised their prices and made their wraps half the size. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Ann Morse: So many interesting choices! Tried the chickpea salad today, delicious, tangy, full of flavor. Highly recommend.

Mehdi Zare: Average food, nice design. I liked the menu and atmosphere of this place. However, food wasn't perfect. Portions are pretty small and taste wasn't as I expected.

Terry B.: They have great shawarma. The only thing I don't like is that they only have 4 tables that each seat 2 people.

Bruce Campbell: Always good and warm feeling you get going in every time

Daniel Junker: Food is fresh and tasty, love the Swiss chard lentil soup too. Nice little pantry there with huge range of dried goods and spices as well.

Zarin B: Had delicious chicken shawarma and Swiss chard lentil soup from here. Still dream about that lentil soup. They also have really affordable imported groceries as well. Highly recommend!!!

Basel El-Shrafi: As a student at American, this is my go to. The portions are always generous for the price and the food is consistently well prepared.

K Jay: I learned about the cafe from the store. After I ordered, I decided to check out the reviews. I seen mixed reviews, but remained with an open mind and unbiased palate. I ordered mixed kebabs with a side of Greek salad. I was first impressed with the cleanliness. The next was them asking me if I wanted another portion of the salad since I only selected one side, and the entree comes with two. The third was the repeat customer that came in and just mentioned “you know what I want” and no further dialogue was needed pertaining to her order. Now the quality. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Tender, juicy, and flavorful chicken and lamb. The Greek salad was so fresh and delicious, I did not need the dressing. I never had pickled turnips but now, I am a fan! The portion was really filling and more than enough. I have concluded: when I am in the area, though not often, I will make it my business to stop by here! Well done, Shemali’s Cafe.

Skylar C: Disgusting chicken shawarma wrap. Ordered delivery with Uber eats and the chicken felt like it was pan fried, not grilled. It didn’t have much flavor. The wrap was supposed to come with lettuce, tomato, pickled turnips, and a garlic sauce. There was no tomato and not even 1 full leaf of lettuce. It was like 1 shred of iceberg lettuce. The result was it was a dry, tasteless, chicken only with a wrap. Would only feed to my worst enemy
Response: Hi Skylar, we are so SORRY to hear about your experience and this is unacceptable. Our chicken shawarma sandwiches do not include tomato, if you would like tomato we can gladly add some in the sandwich, just leave a note/comment on the order. We do not use iceberg lettuce, we only use romaine lettuce. If you could please email us at admin@shemalis.com so that we can get more information we would appreciate it. We would love to make it right!

Maydan: what do users think?

Ian MacLeod: A great mix of middle eastern cuisine, while feeling completely unique at the same time. Eat here, you won't regret it. It's hands down one of the best restaurants I've experienced. food: beyond delicious, lots of variety drinks: unique and fun staff: wonderful atmosphere: perfect

arun varughese: Interesting high end restaurant for Arabic/Mediterranean cuisine but nothing that justifies the Michelin level prices. I tried Omani shrimp and lamb kebab. Both were excellent dishes. The lamb kebab was perfectly cooked and very tender unlike chewy lamb in other places. The shrimp had a very smoky flavor. Their bread was fresh and had a very unique taste. I loved it. The restaurant has the dishes of Arabic cuisine but not the grandness. Their dishes are small plates but the price is similar to large plates of other similar themed restaurants. Overall, It’s a wonderful restaurant with excellent dishes but the price is definitely not justified. They don’t use rare ingredients like caviar, truffle etc. like other Michelin restaurants.

Jassett M: What a experience! Maydan is everything I heard it was and even more! I went with a good friend of mine who's niece happens to work there and we felt like queens in there! Everyone was so warm & welcoming. We were very fortunate to have a table right by the open kitchen and everything smelled wonderful, but even more the food lived up to the hype! From the various spreads to the open fire roasted meats to the Center Plate & a surprised Baked Sweet Potato topped with Brown Butter. It was all next level! We will definitely be back again and working on our team from work having a holiday party at this venue. Just a wonderful experience all around.

Shamsher: Let me just start by saying this, I have been to several fine dine restaurants in DC and this is the only place that does justice to the money it asks for. What an experience! Let me say that again a little louder… WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! Just everything is excellent. Excellent service starting with the utmost level of courtesy I have seen with the staff. Very emotional intelligent staff which is rare. The level of detail they all have in describing the food is beyond impressive. Their mindfulness is incredible. I wish I could give only the service 10+ stars. The food was incredible. Everything in this three course meal. The apps were fresh, crispy and each of the condiments were so distinct and flavorful. The lamb was amazingly cooked. Smoky and mild just the way I love a nice grilled piece of lamb shoulder. The kebabs were outstanding. Specially the beef kebab. The amount of taste and texture on that kebab was outstanding. The desserts were not super impressive but I can get down with that as I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. Maydan should be a must experience for all restaurant goers. Again, the only fine dining and Michelin star place I have been that does justice to the money it asks for.

Jacqueline Telljohann: A friend recommended this spot to us, but unfortunately, we didn't plan very far ahead for our trip, so there were no reservations available. I set an alert and was able to book one when it opened up last minute. We got the Tawle menu with the Grilled Butterflied Bronzini as our center plate. The meal is $75/person with your choice of one center plate. It was a lot of food, so I thought it was worth the price. My favorite things were the spreads (all 3 of them), the Halloumi, the Koobideh, and the Chicken Shish Taouk. I love that they give you as much bread as you want so you don't have to try to conserve a few pieces. I wish there were a cheaper option with no center plate because we were already full by the time ours came and I really didn't need that much food. We eat once a day and usually eat more than most in a single meal, so I would be surprised if most people finish the meal. The outdoor seating area is in the alley and we really enjoyed it. It was quiet since it was off the main street. Overall, we loved the experience and would definitely recommend it.

Abhinav Joshi: You don't go to eat at Maydan @ DC, you go there for the experience. The way it works is that they have a fixed "Tawle" menu which gives you a fixed course meal, but, with a ginormous amount of food. Everything we had was well done and looked amazing! DEFINITELY BOOK AN INDOOR TABLE. NEVER get the outdoor table!

Tala Mahmoud: Hands down one of the best food spots in DC. The meat was incredibly tender and full of unique flavors. The dips and condiments complimented the rest of the food exceptionally. Highly recommended.

Zeyu Hu: Eating at Maydan is a culinary journey. It is a journey into middle eastern cuisine that makes you satisfied when you leave. I highly recommend getting the Tawle, which is a 4 course meal and gives you a huge variety of food. You start off with things “From the Kitchen” which is a variety of pickled veggies, honey dates, herb plate, and cauliflower Tabboulet. In addition a variety of spreads including Hummus, Muhamarra, and Walnut Casik. These were an amazing introduction and each complimented each other very well. Next was “From the Fire” which included a beef and chicken kabob, halloumi, and seasonally roasted veggies (asparagus in this case). Wrapping these in the warm bread that was provided was so good. Finally the center plate - which we got lamb shoulder was phenomenal. It was fall off the bone and the meat melts in your mouth. It was a huge portion which we weren’t able to finish so had to take it back home for lunch the next day. When we thought that was the end of the meal, we got a surprise course of dessert. It was a nice cake and a great moose. It wasn’t that sweet so it balanced the end of the meal perfectly. Highly recommend visiting this place and the service was impeccable. The Michelin Star is for sure deserved. Be sure to make reservations right as they open as it gets booked out very fast!

Cecilia Tejeda: Every dish is made with such perfection! You can play, combine flavors and share with friends and family as it's plenty. My only recommendation is go easy on the bread it's delicious but if you can stuff yourself really easily just with that 😉 !!!

Gregory Moran: Thanks for your help making a great evening with both food and atmosphere! Maydan is now one of our favorite restaurants and we've made a list of friends and family who we want to bring with us when we come back! Everything on the Tawle ("Table") menu was phenomenal, including each of the dips. We're very much looking forward to eating there again soon!

Miramar Shawarma & Hookah Bar: what do users think?

Whitney Nichole Stevens: My girlfriend and I LOVE this place. Taha and his lovely wife always treat us so well. They make us feel like family and always provide us with the best customer service. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. It's a really nice place to get food, do a litte hookah and just relax. A lot of places don't mix their hookahs right or don't refill your coals as often as they should. You don't have to worry about that here. And the prices! Top notch. We were there last night (Friday, March 4) and we will definitely be back again soon!
Response: Thank you so much

Hamid El Madani: My wife and I had such a great time at Miramar .We enjoyed the food ,the hookah and the atmosphere .It was such a great experience .The owner and the waitress were very Pleasant and delightful .I highly recommend this new addition in Georgetown
Response: Thank you so much

Mohammad Knaan: This is my absolute favourite restaurant in DC, the food is always fantastic! Service also great, and they are doing the best hookah.
Response: Thank you so much

Nader Jawhari: I really wanted to like this place.... HONEST. BUT after visiting twice, I will never step foot in here again. The food was good. The service was good. But what wasn't good was the alarming amount of roaches, crawling insects, and flies I found in the 30 minutes of me being there tonight. I found two on the wall, one crawling on my table, and tiny ones on the ground. I had to consistently bat flies away from my food while eating. While I sincerely wish these kind people luck, I feel absolutely disgusted that I had to experience this and will never come back here again.

Brandon Roddey: My party of 4 were the only diners on a sunny Sunday evening in Georgetown, but the food and service were excellent. The roasted leg of lamb and kebsa rice were amazing. If you're looking for an authentic home-style Middle Eastern meal, you won't be disappointed eating here.

Moral Engineer: This is such an amazing experience food wise and entertainment wise. Great Egyptian food and the owner personally gives college students in groups $13.99 per hookah with good deals on food and beverages (alcoholic/non-alcoholic). Mr.Taha is also a great manager who loves a humorous conversation!
Response: Thank you so much

Real Good: Absolutely incredible service and food. The chicken couscous is insane. They have the best hookah I’ve had in weeks (I do a lot of hookah bar hopping). But really the atmosphere was so good and the owners so nice I’d come back any time. Thank you guys so much.
Response: Thank you so much

Joanna Van Vleck: This place is incredible. Wonderful service. Delicious home cooked meal. I felt like I was sitting in a living room. Loved the hookah. Will go back again!
Response: Thank you so much

Delilah Vasquez: This place was super welcoming and attentive! The owners make you feel at home and check on you frequently to make sure you’re having a great experience. Definitely recommend! Would come back any time.

Kevin Williams: The service is excellent. The food is delicious an CL avorful. Try the lamb, chicken kebab and couscous. It’s home cooked food. The managers are attentive but also let you get on with things

Albi: what do users think?

Benjamin Cook: We absolutely love this place. Chef Michael Rafidi and his entire crew always make sure we have the best experience possible. The wine selection is out of this world. You won't find better hummus anywhere on the east coast. The food and service is always 10/10. The open kitchen shows authenticity and a dedicated team. The entire meal experience is special from start to finish. Thanks for always delivering 5-Star service and quality.

lauren neal: We did the hearth tasting menu and wine pairing and it was delicious! Highly recommend, even my husband who is a picky eater tried and liked everything. The service was impressive and flowed seamlessly between staff members. We loved our experience 💕

Dondré: The food here at Albi is phenomenal. I forgot to take a picture of most of my food but everything I had was really good. I was a fan of the lb dishes. It's slightly difficult to get a reservation but try getting one pretty far out. It's worth the wait. The open kitchen and decor makes this place feel pretty homey. The staff is excellent and accommodating.

Jacqueline Bourassa: Amazing flavors and overall lovely experience. The tasting menu is the perfect amount to be full and try many dishes without being over stuffed. All the staff were great. The sommelier in particular had really cool pairings and was friendly/fun serving them. The hostesses were a great start to the night welcoming and professional. I appreciated that the bartender saw me looking lost at one point and came around the bar to walk me to where the restrooms are.

Aisha Damian: Absolutely amazing. The hummus was spectacular and the wine suggestions were perfect. Our server was fantastic and very attentive. We came for our anniversary and the staff made it a very special dinner. Best restaurant in Navy Yard, hands down!

Joe&Marie Schulman: Couldn't be happier with my experience. My meal, and the meals at nearby tables, arrived very quickly and tasted incredible. Everything came out perfectly cooked The service was also quick and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed and was very helpful in answering any questions I had. The atmosphere was upscale but still relaxing and fun. Whatever you order is Fully recommended you cant go wrong. The chef is making an excellent Job to keep this place going.

Takuma: Great selections, and great atmosphere. Although the restaurant is fairly big, I like how their menu is very selective, easy to digest, and easy to choose. Every dish was special, but I would recommend their baba ganoush and soft shell clubs. You may find baba ganoush everywhere, but not how they prepared. If the weather was good, I would recommend sitting at their back patio-- it is distant from their main seatings and it is nice and quiet, but your table won't be forgotten and all meals and services are taken care of at the right timings.

Diana Valentine: So good. It’s not a typical restaurant I’d go to, but stopped in for a drink and apps and loved everything from the aesthetic of the restaurant to the service, drinks, and food. I returned for a full dinner a few months later and was just as impressed. It was super busy and the service was still good — the kitchen stayed open late fo make sure everyone got served. The food is flavor blasted and ingredients in each dish compliment one another in unexpected ways. Can’t recommend enough!

Tenzin Rigden: Absolutely delicious! Did the sofra experience, and thought it was an incredible value and very filling. We were stuffed by the time dessert came around. Highlights were the sunchoke, the pita, the cinnamon kefta, and the brown butter knafeh. Sat at the bar and service was good. Bartender was very knowledgeable about both drinks and the food. Whole experience took about 2 hours. Drinks were good too. The negroni and the silk road were particularly good.

Wilson Fujinaga: Genius Michelin level food and presentation. Impeccable service. The bar is so high it makes you sit up right and taller. From music, decor, design, furniture, earthenware, honestly it’s unreal we have a place like this in our neighborhood. Seeing the chef with is team in their element is like watching a maestro placing his finishing touches on a painting.

The Spice & Tea Exchange of Alexandria: what do users think?

James Walker: Found this shop on a walking tour of Old Town. The shop is located on King Street, across from Old Town Farmer's Market location and Alexandria City Hall. Lots of spices and exotic teas, sample by smell before you purchase. I liked the customer service, staff will engage.
Response: Hey James! Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking a chance on The Spice & Tea Exchange, it was a pleasure meeting you! Our team strives to provide the best experiences for our guests, and we are so happy to hear that we are fulfilling that promise. Come back soon!

Scott Frauenknecht: Really awesome, unique shop in Old Town. Tea was fantastic, with a very friendly and helpful staff ensuring every question was answered. Even pointed out active deals, good tea and sugar pairings, and overall everyone was super knowledgeable. Will be back for more and would highly recommend stopping in if you like tea or spices
Response: Thank you so much for the glowing review, Scott! It means the world to us and our entire team. We love being able to help our guests create and share flavorful memories. Thanks again for recommending our local Spice & Tea Exchange of Alexandria. Come back soon!

Meia Harris: Amazing little store! I loved the ambiance and smell inside. They had a while variety of spices, teas, sugars, and salts. Tea lovers and home chefs are sure to find something they will love here. I tried the Emperor's Chai Tea and really enjoyed it. It is a unique Chai for sure. The pink pepperberries are also great, and I like that you can purchase them already in a grinder. The staff was also kind, helpful, and knowledgeable.
Response: Hey Meia, thank you so much for the glowing review and 5-star rating! We are delighted to hear you had the best visit with our team, and that you enjoyed the Emperor's Chai and pink pepperberries! We love being able to help our guests create and share flavorful memories. Come back again soon!

Kay W: This is a great place for anyone who loves to cook. They have nearly everything you could imagine in the store when it comes to spices. The smells of all the fall spices were filling the air today, how lovely it was! The staff are so very helpful and knowledgeable about their products, if you need anything they are right there for you. I would definitely recommend getting a tea while you are in the store and sip it as you walk along King St. outside. The prices for the spices and tea are also very fair! Lovely store and staff!

Amy Stein: This store is a fantastic fine for any cook or tea lover. The selection is vast, well organized and of good quality. They also carry special blends and interesting tea accessories including a fabulous set of tea balls. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly.
Response: Amy - we greatly appreciate your 5 star review and comments of our store. We hope you will visit again soon.

Matthew Hanna: I was thirsty and it was cold out. This place provides a huge variety of tea and sweeteners to order on the go. I got an early grey cream with monk fruit sweetener. Who knew they had that monk fruit!
Response: Hey Matthew! Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking a chance on The Spice & Tea Exchange, it was a pleasure having you in! Our team strives to provide the best experiences for our guests, and we are so happy to hear that we helped you find some great teas. We can't wait to see you again!

Will Lunsford: Stopped by on my way through Old Town and spent an hour in the store. What an awesome place. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable and there were so many spice blends. Considering what a jar of quality spices cost at whole food the prices were def affordable. I can't wait to use my Aleppo peppers. Will be back in the future.

Jay Lawson: Nice little quaint shop. Way too many teas to choose from. I had the blood orange smoothie tea. It smelled great but the taste left something to be desired. This might be a place you need to visit more than once to get the full experience. Customer service waa great though. Everyone was super friendly and willing to help.

Gayden Druschel: What an amazing little gem of a store. I've never seen such an incredible collection of spices and spice blends, salts, peppers, and of course, teas! All gorgeous loose-leaf teas including some more unusual varieties than one typically finds. If you're the kind of person who just throws on some salt and uses Lipton, this is not the place for you. But if you're a home chef, or looking to stretch your abilities, or if you're a tea connoisseur, get over here immediately. The staff was lovely too. Helpful and welcoming without bugging you or hovering over you. I'd only suggest for them to do some advertising in the area! I've lived here for years and only found out about them by accident. Thankfully, now I know-- and I'll definitely be back.
Response: Thank you so much for the 5-star review, Gayden! Our team is always happy to help you find the best spices, sugars, teas, and more and we are so grateful that you had the best visit with us. We truly appreciate the kind words and recommendation, and we look forward to seeing you again!

Felicia Smith: Fair warning: be prepared for amazing customer service and to spend money. If you appreciate good tea and spices? This is the place to be. I cannot recommend enough the Tiki Punch Tea with the Key Lime Sugar. It's refreshing and delicious. I can't wait to come back for other things. They have endless options for everyone's needs.

Yafa Grille: what do users think?

Jessica Martin: Fresh, varied, flavorful food with kind and quick service! Good portions too. Didn’t ask about gluten free but nothing other than the pita was obviously gluten. I’m sure they’d answer any questions you have.

Sydnye White: Love grabbing a Yafa salad bowl for lunch. I get chicken, lots of roasted veggies options and all the yummy garlic, tahini sauce and hummus I can stand!

Hisham Isa: I finally got to try this place. Had the option of wrap, bowl or plate. They we out of the pita pocket option at the time. Then picked the meat or veggies. They had chicken, beef or lamb. I got the bowl with rice and lamb. Both meat and rice portions were a bit small. I loaded up on the veggies since you can add whatever veggies you want to it. I was expecting more rice and meat for the price. What could have made it better? Hot rice and meats; more rice and meats; warm pita bread that came with it. Overall, positive experience as the food feels and taste healthy. Price was a bit over $12 for the bowl. I will definitely eat here again.

Kristen Marie: I’ve never had Shawarma before, so I appreciated how helpful the employees were in guiding me toward a shawarma rice bowl with delicious toppings. Fantastic! Great food and friendly staff.

Hilda Kroll: With shawarma grills popping up all over the place, this one stands out as special for me. It's a small family owned business with a very friendly atmosphere and really good food. There are two, soon to be three, locations run by five brothers, with recipes handed down from their Old Jerusalem family roots. I ate my rice bowl there and took the baklava home to enjoy with some hot tea at the end of the day.

Jason Struck: Most build-your-own places I've been to require a bit of skill to pick ingredients that work together. Not so here. I picked everything my fickle heart desired, and the ingredients had such a synergy. Each one has its own flavor, but they complement one another. Delicious, quick, and easy.

Noor Ayoob: Man the food was amazing shawarma was so tasty definitely coming back again , this location is outside if McPherson square station close to 15th NW st and right in the heart if DC . Keep up the great work guys . You gained a very good customer.

Al: Unfortunately the beef shawarma bowl is nothing but gyro meat not real shawarma meat!! and the rice very cheap quality. Shawarma district or muncheez are much better. Place clean though.

Thomas Novelli: The chicken shawarma is pretty tasty. I recommend adding the spicy sauce and tzatziki for a great flavor combination. Service is quick and friendly. I’ll definitely return to check out other menu offerings.

sami china: Very bad manage I order with very spicy and cold sandwiches and when I called the manager to explain for him he said we don’t care about your opinion you can put bad reviews
Response: I’m sorry for your experience. We went off the order sent to us. Please accept our deepest apologies and hopefully next time we will reach out to you before hand! Thank you!
