Nellie's Sports Bar: what do users think?

Terrell Singleton: Nellies is always a good time but they r always forcefully putting some of the girls out. The happy hour drinks r strong and the music is good. We got the wings and fries which of the three flavors(Buffalo bbq n plain) we got it was tasty. There was a long line inside to get to the upstairs patio. We decided to just stay downstairs since it wasn’t a birthday or a special occasion. They have something every nite sunday is drag brunch which is great entertainment(bingo game and performances) and good food.

Melissa Mahony: Went for the drag brunch for a bacheloretteparty and our crew had the best time!! Between food, drinks, and entertainment the staff knew how to keep their customers satisfied! Highly recommended if you are looking for a fun-filled brunch in DC!

Jake Onassis: The servers are great, but the DJ was AWFUL the last few times we've been there and only plays slow hip-hop. As a result, there's really no dancing and it kills the vibe. When we went a few years ago, it was an awesome place to dance to upbeat pop tracks. If you're looking for a fun, upbeat club, look elsewhere.

k Hall: The bar tenders were great, the security was super respectful (they deserve all the love) BUT the food was objectively nasty. The calamari was basically thickly breaded air, the tacos were tasteless and super dry, then finally the burger was just straight up nasty. I sent my burger back and after they took it they told me I could not get a refund or a replacement OR EVEN the plate I was already eating back. If I Knew I wasn’t going to get my money or a new plate back I would have suffered through the nasty burger because I already paid 14 dollars for it. I wish I took photos but I couldn’t because my plate was already taken from me! I spent over 65 dollars for very nasty food. At least the music was cool I guess.
Response: Mr or Ms Hall- it is not Nellie's policy to charge guests for food they did not eat. If you didn't enjoy your food and sent it back you shouldn't have been charged. Please contact me directly and we'll sort this out. Gm@nelliessportsbar.com

Ivania Solorzano: Average entertainment. They are based on how big your group is. We went with big group. They tell you they are paid with tips up front even when if you are waited on last. They will collect all their tips after 3 seconds of dancing then dance for 5 seconds more. Tip collecting will take up all their performance. Some will only walk around collecting all their tips and lip sing. That's all. They say come early for bunch at 1 but you'll won't eat till 3pm. We went for brunch paid $60 per person. Food was average. They ran out pretty quick. Drinks pretty pricy but lots of options. Again entertainment was average. I give 2 stars for the only girl who preformed with hype music till the end. She didn't touch any of her tips till her performance was over like a professional performer. The crowd went wild for her.

Arian Fisher: This review is for the drag brunch only. A few days ago, my bestie (first time at a drag brunch) and I traveled here for a drag brunch. When we arrived around 1 p.m., there was a rope blocking the brunch buffet so our only option was to walk upstairs (the buffet was not ready yet). Once we got upstairs, my friend and I grabbed a table and sat down. When my friend came back after getting a drink, I asked if she got the complimentary one included in our ticket price and she was told that we would get that downstairs. Then around 2 p.m., one of the queens walked around & started scanning tickets in order of the largest party size (15 people) and the parties were seated downstairs. My friend and I saw the writing on the wall (that we would probably be one of the last tables since we were a party of 2) so thankfully we met 2 other sweet girls and formed an alliance. We were seated next. Even though all the windows were open (on both floors) and fans were blowing, it was hot! Thankfully I brought my fan which helped a little. When we got downstairs, it was cramped, crowded, & dreadful because of the humidity. Shortly after, they opened up the buffet and went table by table. Then around 2:55, it was announced that they would start shortly (this was not what I expected since I had to be at the train station by 5 p.m., but it all worked out in the end). The food was pretty good, but since it was sweltering I didn't have much appetite. Now for the best part of the brunch: the queens. They were amazingly talented and I gave them as much money as I responsibly could. It's certainly not their fault that the logistics, communication, and organization were non-existent. My friend enjoyed her first drag brunch which is all that really matters to me, but I highly doubt that I will ever come back again in the summer.

Jade Jade: rude staff (people working near door at the end of the night) rude , terrible manager. I used to love to come here years ago and had a great time. from what ive heard recently it's really been downgrading rapidly in the last 6 years because of staff. last night I saw it in action, I'll never be back. don't support them until they hire people with souls!

Cole Hiser: Oh, Nellies. It's THE gay bar in DC for better or for worse. I would definitely note that it is not a dance club at night like many gay bars. People can mingle and talk over the music--if that's your vibe.

Antwan Beason: Your security denied me time to chat with the manger for nellies. His name was Wayne. I noticed that 2 of the security guards had an issue with gay men touching them. They were yelling it out loud. Not in a derogatory sense but at all. They were very upset and expressed their grievances after most of us patrons left. Noticing how they felt and my knowledge of the previous media attention I tried to bring it to managements attention. When I mentioned I wanted to speak to a manager I was ushered aggressively outside and denied any opportunity to express myself. The security company that you all continue to hire is homophobic and is connected to previous events. I personally foresee another interaction if something isn’t done. The sheer fact they blocked me from so waking m and pushed me outside after I said I wanted to chat with the manager is problematic. Then he said oh he don’t wanna talk to you. lol in my experience you all should’nt continue in that exclusive mentality or it will lead to your conclusion. Thank you Antwan Beason

Shana Bayton: Amazing place to hang out and vibe, great drinks, fun bartenders, lots of seating. Especially enjoyed the rooftop area, very nice!

A League Of Her Own: what do users think?

Bobbi DeAnda: This bar is THE BEST. The lights and the colors make you happy right when you walk in and then you go downstairs and there's old school Nintendo!!!!!! Took me back! I had the time of my life! There's also a rooftop deck and a dance floor - they have everything! Really like this spot! Also felt super covid safe - masks required and proof of vaccination to enter.

Dani Ciscell: Its a great place Over all with 3 different vibes in a lot of great specialty drinks. Everyone who works there is super hot. But they need to stop using somebody's phone for the bottom bar. I love that if you forget to close your tab they close it out with 20% gratuity

Hillary Klingshirn: i expected it to feel more like a lesbian bar or even a women’s space but most of the bartenders were men and the place was filled with them. everyone was nice though and i thought the video games were really cool. wish they had more beer options on tap. music on the dance floor was just okay

Dougiefresh20 D: So I have been here a couple of times even when Covid was bad and never got asked to show my vaccination card. So coming all the way from VA to be turned around was questionable but to add insult to injury the lady at the door was rude and not at all welcoming. I’m not saying it was a race issue but the second that me and my girlfriend walked in she looked like she didn’t want us in there and for this to be a lesbian bar this would be the last place I would expect to be judged.

Morgan Eaves: Best place to go out & dance in the area. The music is great & everyone is so welcoming. Definitely my recommendation of where to go in AdMo!

AVATonyT: Apparently they support Ukraine and obviously LGBTQ but NOT BLACK LIVES MATTER.. there is no recognition for black lives mattering.. be careful where you spend your money brothers and sisters

Melissa Limage: Awesome place to have drinks and dance the night away. Bartenders were quick and friendly. First floor was more of a chill vibe with seats all over. Second floor is the dance floor which was completely packed. It was nice to see people of different races and labels together. Definitely will return sooner rather than later.

Jordyn Taylor: I really enjoyed myself here. Good music, people, drinks, etc. My only issue is that the bartender took it upon themselves to leave a tip of $20. I was never given a reciept but didn’t think much of it at the time since it was busy. I don’t know if the bartender thought my memory would be lacking b/c I bought a round for my friends or what. I remembered (b/c I thought the price was crazy for 4 shots). In total I was charged $70 for 4 shots. I reported it to my CC company immediately. With all that said, I’d probably go back. I really liked the vibe. I just won’t purchase anything from the place for obvious reasons.

M: This place was recommended by my “ friend “ as a nice gathering and welcoming place for all , and it is really nice and welcoming for all ( I am a trans), There is a negative “lesbian “ attitude here , the way they act around “men “, and transgenders , one girl she asked me when did I start being a “ gay “ , I looked at her , I’m not a gay , I’m a trans women , you know that “ T “ in LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈,,, show some respect .

Bailey Curtis: I can not express just how great of a time I had here. The bartenders are super nice, even when its crazy busy, they always manage to serve you quickly, accurately, and with a great attitude. The entire building was amazing, everyone was in a great mood and nobody came off as creepy or inappropriate like many typically do at other bars. Hands down, my new favorite bar in D.C.

Trade: what do users think?

Hamilton Jimenez Vasquez: Great bar with a patio, good drinks but the place could use a makeover.

M: Possibly the best gay bar in DC. Unpretentious, very social, down to earth. It is much easier to meet guys here, everyone seems to enjoy the music and friendlier unlike the other gay bars around it. Lighting is perfect. It's not too bright to the point that makes you too self conscious. DJs play mainstream tunes and remixes and of course gays like that. Drinks are better compared to the other bar that I refuse to mention. Bartenders are also quite nice.

Day Graham: Overall good place to be and nice decent music, some people are a little touchy but it’s not that big of a deal. The only negative experience I had (not personally) but my friend gave the bartender her card to pay for 2 drinks and 2 shots. One was $35 and I believe the shots where $8. The bartender decided to give himself a tip out her card without her authorization and gave himself a $52 tip. Lucky my friend was able to call her bank and dispute the charge. If you go to this bar do NOT USE CARD! Cause the bartender will over charge your card purposely.

Thomas J R: Nice little Gay Bar in DC mixed local crowd with some visitors too. Quite small so gets crowded. Staff were friendly and drinks reasonably priced.

Daniel L: Great atmosphere, fantastic staff and fabulous clientele. I’ve visited a handful of times and always had a great time. Would 100% recommend stopping by for a drink. 🍺 🍹

Nicholas Miles: one of my favorite DC bars!

N: It was alright. We went on a chilly sat evening in march. It was moderately crowded with lively ppl. Drinks are avg and moderately priced. Everything was just about ok.

Richard: They are doing an excellent job with Covid guidelines. Fair prices, nice service. Convenient location. You need to make a reservation. Cool ambiance. I recommend this place. Drinks are strong.

brian g: Saturday night scene consistently very good: music, drinks, vibe, crowd. Music a bit offbeat (in a good way) -- a mix of old and new. Well done, Trade-DC.

Andrew Richardson: If you're extremely basic and your entire personality is "urban queer," Trade is for you.

The Dirty Goose: what do users think?

Sam: I had a very strange encounter with the bouncer here, I handed him my ID and he told me that he couldn't let me in, confused I ask him why and there wasn't a response. I was with 5 other friends from out of town and was chipper and excited, he may have mistaken this for being drunk, or maybe mistaken me for someone else. I decided to go elsewhere and apparently this bouncer radioed into the clubs down the street which they also denied me. I'm still confused what his problem was? I decided to go somewhere else entirely and had a good time elsewhere.

Miss Guided: Literally make you stand outside to appear it’s a lot of people inside. Literally like 50 people left out while I was the first in line and I had to stand out there for optics. Only came bc homegirl was dj’n and a friend was there. And the bartender upstairs extremely rude and nasty. Will not be back to rhythmless nation again

Ben Hemenway: They overcharged us ($38 for two drinks, before tax, at a gay bar in DC. Please). Atmosphere wasn’t great either, but shout out to Tatianna, who always kills the gig!

James Greathouse: Bouncer / security at the bathroom openly accepts bribes to let people bypass the line and get upstairs. I am disappointed.

Tim Pfeiffer: One of DCs best lgbtq spots! The rooftop is spacious and there are always good times to be had.

Angela Hudson: First things first, I gave it 2 stars because they sell cookies and the cookies are delicious! That would have earned them 5 stars alone but the following experience warranted a loss of a few stars and I feel I'm being generous by even giving them 2. CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED DOUBLE A DAY AFTER WE VISITED. We were there in a group of 4. We moved tables a few times due to the weather. Each time, we asked if we should close out our bill but the bartender said no that we could just move it with us. When we went to leave, we asked for the bill. We paid it and signed the receipt and left. The next day we had 2 charges on our CC. One charge was for the bill we paid and signed for. The other charge was for double the original charge. We tried to call to get an explanation but all phone numbers listed for the bar online do not work. We emailed the bar and the next day we received a response from the owner/bartender. His explanation was that when we went to close out, he didn't want us to have to wait while he went upstairs to see what our bill from the other bartender was so he just charged us an amount. Then later that evening he figured up what he thought we owed and charged us a second time for the full bill (the half we already paid plus the other half). He then said that IF we wanted to be refunded, we could call the next day. He left no number. We emailed back and said we needed a number to call and that of course we wanted a refund as we had been overcharged. We received no response for 2 days and had to email a second time. As of today, 6 days after we visited the bar, we still have not received a refund for the extra money we paid. Though the cookies are good and the drinks weren't bad, we won't be back.
Response: Hello Angela, Thank you for the feedback. This is Justin, the owner that has been speaking with Miguel (the owner of the tab) about this issue. I will admit a billing mistake was made. I would like to point out that the billing error occurred because we were extremely accommodating to your table and re-sat you twice on two different floors (indoors and on the rooftop) on Cinco de Mayo during COVID, when really we are suppose to keep table movements to a minimum. Yes, our tab system does carry with you, but before you moved for the second time the tab was closed out on the rooftop (the first and correct charge). When you moved back down to the first floor and Miguel asked to close out, I did look for your previous tab. It wasn’t there, but since Miguel was asking to close out the tab I figured the tab must have been deleted which can happen by accident. We were very busy and instead of making you wait I just recreated the tab based on only what I knew you ordered with me and charged the card for a lesser amount than the first charge (the second, incorrect charge). I responded to Miguel’s first email within 24 hours and he responded to mine about 36 hours after (a Saturday). I was out of town on Sunday and couldn’t respond, but immediately responded to his follow up on Monday (a day which we are closed) and set up a refund for Tuesday. I agreed to refund him in my original response on Friday. Unfortunately our encryption system requires that you re-enter the card number to provide a refund so I have to do it in person on the POS, which I don’t have access to remotely. I appreciate the feedback. I just wanted to provide context. This was a simple billing error that was made due to us going out of our way to accommodate your table. I immediately agreed to refund the tab. In my first email I even agreed to refund the higher amount, even though it is the correct charge due to the inconvenience. The delay in processing has simply been logistics. It is unfortunate that you walked away thinking this was a malicious billing tactic even as we were so accommodating to your table on one of the busiest bar days of the year during extremely complex times due to COVID. I hope you’ll reconsider your review. Thank you.

Joshua Roe: This is an unpretentious, fun, dive-y gay bar. Simple. Go and enjoy! Also, thank you for requiring proof of vax, smart ppl appreciate that.

luigi buscaglia: The employees are the farthest thing from friendly. Tony to be exact has a never ending attitude and her sense of entitlement is disgusting. He was rude to me and my friends every day we were there. Visiting out of town but definitely will not recommend this place when it’s employees are miserable, rude, entitled, and vulgar. Refusing to close our tab but demanded us to get out.

Braxton Mann: My friends and I had a really great time the other night. The staff was incredible. Patrick made us feel so welcomed. The drinks were strong, and delicious. And great safety precautions were taken by the staff for COVID.

Jacksman: Best priced drinks on U street and love the expanded rooftop! It gets busy on weekends, so arrive early if you don’t want to wait in line.

Green Lantern: what do users think?

Admin 001: First time out in DC and this random find on a Thursday had be stripped and dancing in a room full of shirtless folk. No cover was a win and the bartenders upstairs pumped out inexpensive drinks in record time. Everyone was friendly.

Ashley Nichols: Went in around 5:45 on a Tuesday to grab a drink. Quiet crowd, no one behind the bar. We waited about 5 minutes with no staff to be seen before we gave up and left.

Kathryn Hutter: Great place with friendly staff. Nice vibe. Because of the “situation” bars have to sell food so they offer peanut butter jelly sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, and popcorn. Best damn cheese sandwich I’ve ever had. 10/10. Can’t wait to come back when the world gets back to functioning correctly.

Dave Pineda: Tonight there was an incident with one of the bartenders on the second floor ( black guy on the right side). I ordered a drink and I gave him my card. He served me the drink but I did not receive my credit card back and I asked him, he told me that he had not received my credit card. I insisted because I had given him my credit card and he later found it on the floor and returned it to me. when he returned my credit card he told me he was on the floor, I told him at least one sorry would be better and that triggered him to start insulting me to such a degree that he grabbed my full drink and threw it away in the bar. I felt completely humiliated, this is not a place that stands up to these things, but I want to complain because these things should not happen in a place where we are a minority and we are here to support each other. I don't know if I will return to this place but the owners should take these reviews seriously so as not to allow something like this to happen again

Samy Azzam: On Jan 9, 2022 the bartender downstairs took a $58 Tip on a $17 tab without my authorization. My bank confirmed it was unauthorized, and I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bereau.
Response: Sorry you had this experience. It is entirely possible that the tip was entered into our system wrong by accident (or mis-read by the bartender). Either way, we would encourage you to also reach out to our management via lanterndc@gmail.com or by calling the bar so we can correct this error and make it right.

Dustin Barringer: Long-standing DC gay bar. Management is wonderful and friendly, as are all the staff. Home of DC’s shirtless men drink free on Thursdays

Sophie W.: I have only been here twice for the LOBO event that is hosted once every month. However, I can say that the place is well run with a focus on making sure people are safe and having fun. It's somewhere I look forward to go to and not feel anxious.
Response: Thanks, Justin! We're glad you enjoy your visits with us!

Ted Kidwell: Good fun and entertainment for Adults only good service and helpful friendly staff

Humberto Garcia: If there’s anything subpar to a dive bar, this is it. Bad service, rude employees.

Joshua Roe: One of the best gay bars in DC. Fun, friendly, down to earth. Def always worth a visit.

Black Whiskey: what do users think?

Nicholas Miles: the selection of whiskeys is beyond amazing! and Joseph is an amazing! basically, the bar is amazing! lol

Jon Meyers: My favorite local bar here in Logan Circle. The selection of bourbons is second to none, (well, perhaps second to Jack Rose, but they do larger pours here at Black Whiskey). Great knowledgeable bar staff that can help you if you’re intimidated by the vast selection.

Laura Okpala: Bartenders refused to serve me for no reason - me and friends had just walked in and I was waiting quietly at the bar for my turn. They just refused to acknowledge I was there wile serving everyone around me. I suspect it’s because I look different from most of their clientele *cough* - Thanks to the preppy guy standing next to me for ordering my drinks for me because he also recognized how egregious they were being! Terrible bartenders definitely!

theDSsucks: Upstairs! Otherwise you end up at the gay bar. The 2 bartenders were both really nice, polite, and patient as I admired their whiskey menu. The whiskeys are a tad bit pricey but the 1oz option buffers the guilt of spending that much on some rare stuff I wanted to try. The good stuff is pricey so that’s not their fault. Industry standard. Thanks guys!
Response: Thank you for the kind words!

Matt Leaf: Don’t let the hole-in-the-wall feel fool you—this is a seriously amazing whiskey bar. The no frills, comfortable atmosphere sets the stage for what this place is about: seriously good whiskey. I highly recommend getting their Black Whiskey Manhattan. They blend the high end ingredients and age them together in oak casks. The result is an amazingly flavorful and unique cocktail you won’t find anywhere else.

N T-K: Very small but the vibe is large! The music was great and people seem to be having a great time! The music was loud enough so we could all hear. Loved that versus the other bars where tou hear more chatter than music. Also the bathrooms were really clean.

Saif Areikat: I’ve been there multiple times this summer. This place is very lively especially on Fridays and Saturdays. The staff is always making sure everyone is well and very courteous. A plate of goldfish on the house! Totally recommend 10/10

Blaine Chitwood: Awesome bar and as a bourbon connoisseur I anticipated coming here more than any bar in dc but the blonde door man said he would watch my blantons while I walked down to get a friend and he said I’m not your “drinks baby sitter bro”. Huge fan of the bar and had a $670+ bar tab but will not return because of this employee. I am truly saddened by this. 😪
Response: Sir, I'm sorry your experience was not exceptional. However, you may be misremembering what actually happened. You and your date tried to leave our bar with your drinks. This is a violation of our policy and DC law. Our Barback assumed you were leaving and bussed the glassware. In addition, there is no record of any transactions remotely close to to the amount you mentioned. Lastly, I know our ID checker to be a friendly and courteous young man who has never called anyone "bro". We would love to make it up to you on your next visit if you decide to give us another shot. We would also appreciate you removing this review as we generally enjoy 4 and 5 star ratings. Thank you

Alexandra Yeager: Would be a much better bar if they did not feel the need to play a bass in such a small space, at least four days a week. No one goes there for the base. It is a small bar with relatively good cocktails. But the noise and is unbearable. As a result you can’t Hear yourself think, never mind other people speak. I wish they would play music but no bass. Or even less loud music would be a major help.

Daniel Kirk-Hall: Great atmosphere and great selection of drinks, down side is some bad whitebpeopke dancing 😂 and I'm a white straight male from UK so that must say it all

JR's Bar: what do users think?

N: Was there for the rupaul drag race viewing. Drag queen was fun. Drinks are very strong. I tried the seasonal spring specials. Crowd had young and older people. Was lively.
Response: Thanks for your review and feedback. We are happy you had a great time!

Matt Conrad: I walked into JR's this afternoon to sit and do some work, while I figured out where I'd stay tonight. I was having a fine time, in the mostly empty bar, with music videos streaming above. My service dog sat directly beside me. About 45 minutes and two beers in, a man approached me from behind and tapped me on the shoulder. As I turned, he immediately told me I would need to move to a corner of the bar, because the bar was going to get crowded and my dog could get stepped on. While I appreciate his desire to protect my service animal, I told him that I did not want to move since there was less than 15 people at the spacious bar at the time. He snapped and told me he didn't want to hear about it when my dog got hurt. I didn't understand. I was literally sitting at the bar doing work, which I wouldn't have been able to do if the bar was out-of-hand, and a stranger starts telling me I need to get out of the main bar area. I asked him to calm down and told him he was coming at me wrong. He got defensive and so I asked if he owned the bar or was just a bouncer trying to prepare for crowd control. He informed me he was a co-owner of the bar. I asked do you know the law regarding disabilities and service animals? He didn't respond. Instead he just came back aggressively with an insult. I told him I'd be happy to show him the law if he wasn't familiar. He said, "I'm done here" and stormed off. I asked the bartender if this person really was a co-owner, and he said yes. I cannot believe the owner's behavior and shortness with a customer, especially one who chose his establishment after reading how welcoming it was to those in the LGBTQ community. I was unaware because I'm from NJ and have been driving for the past three days stopping along the way to rest. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. The owner's actions are a clear violation of the ADA and frankly hurtful. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I expect more. I expect patience and understanding from owners in our community, not aggression. I ask anyone who reads this to consider if this is a place they want to support going forward. I have PTSD. Not because I chose it or want, but bc I endured years of child abuse. And my dog is my companion. We need to respect each other better and it starts with those in leadership positions!

Thomas Romberg: Jr's are like family to me . They are great and friendly and they will look out for you . They were there for me when I drank way too much . That place is the first place.that I came out of the closet . I love there showtumes and drag queen shows . They go all out .

Peyton Doyle: JR's is a staple of the DC gay scene. It is fairly spacious, with friendly bartenders, cheap drink deals, fantastic music (plus music videos!), a nice crowd in a great location. Not much to complain about!

Norman M: This place use to be so fun. Sad new management has wanted to make it less diverse. I’m sure you figure out the rest ❤️
Response: We are sorry to hear that you have a negative perception of JR's, and we invite you back anytime to explore all that we have to offer. Surviving and thriving through a global pandemic has been tough, and, like many bars, JR's has continued to adapt and evolve to meet the needs of our customers and our community. This means bringing in new shows and supporting our local drag and performance scenes. This means updating light and sound systems. And this means working with new DJs and expanding our music selection to more genres. We understand that not every event or song will be everyone's cup of tea (or...vodka soda in this case!), but our ability to adapt, evolve, become MORE diverse, and cater to a wide community has been the cornerstone of our success for more than 35 years. So, our invite stands.…please come check out some of the new cocktails, DJ's, shows, and events at JR's.

Clint Davis: It was heartbreaking to see how far JR’s has gone downhill over the past few years. I was there recently with friends and it was filthy and lifeless compared to the many years that it was my “gay Cheers” bar. Someone needs to take over management (or ownership) and breathe some life into what should be a shining jewel of festiveness on 17th Street. Perhaps the owners or management of Annie’s should take over.
Response: Thanks so much for your feedback, Clint. We are sorry you had a negative experience and invite you to visit us again. As a pillar of the LGBTQ+ community in DC, we have come together over the course of these difficult last few years to keep our doors open and provide a space for people to safely gather. We host some of the most innovative and entertaining events (Lady Gaga Remix Party, Jukebox Heros, The Love Letter Series, etc.) while keeping our traditions alive (Showtunes, etc.). We are confident that you likely visited us on a slow night (every bar has them from time to time) and we look forward to meeting your expectations when you visit us next.

William Critz: I think I will visit again (been living in Baltimore for too many years). Used to live across the street, and I always LOVE JR's. Many years ago I was the first person to order a sandwich there, and it was awesome! Also met 3 different boyfriends there MAGNIFICENT !!!

Emilio Aguilar Cubilla: Strong Drinks at a great price, they have drag shows and the bartenders are super friendly

ADAM CARTER: A fun and friendly place! Great show and low prices. Very attentive bartenders. There is a promotion here, you can get a free room for 1 hour or 2 free cocktails to choose from, you need to register at 909gay,com create a profile and show it to the bartender.

Alexander Gomez: Ever since Jr's has been under new management, the bar is now an even more welcoming, fun and relaxing atmosphere. I often come here for great music and nice drinks that are affordable for the area. The staffs are friendly, courteous and awesome!!

Pitchers DC: what do users think?

H D: Been many times. Staff and bartenders are all-around great. Younger, diverse crowd—expect lots of women. A fun time with plenty of space, a fun dance floor (many levels), and reasonably-priced drinks as far as DC clubs go.

Adam: Fun place. Generally a fun vibe. Too many straight women, though. It’s a gay bar being inundated by straight girls looking for gay tourism and to “feel safe” but get loud and obnoxious and pushy and overly confident. Pitchers needs to be more aware.

Leah Jackson: This is not a safe place for gay women, or anyone for that matter. I am disappointed and hurt by the sexist — yes, sexist against women, although they proudly tout their lesbian bar — and rude staff/bouncers that work here and will certainly never return.

Adam Blackington: What can I say about Pitchers? From the owner to the bar tenders, to security, bar backs, and other support staff, I can’t help but take note of how courteous, respectful, and kind everyone at Pitchers is. My experience, even during the pandemic, is always filled with love, laughter, and awesome drinks. Whether you’re in a group or alone and looking for new friends (or maybe something more?) you won’t regret coming to Pitchers. Watch out though, they pour heavy here!

Bianca Martinez: I love Bobby as a bartender!!!Always takes the best care of me and everyone is always so friendly. Can never stop coming here!! My go to place every weekend

Joshua Roe: Shocked by the low rating, this bar is chill, fun and friendly. Thank you to gay bars that have stayed open during the pandemic and are trying to keep people safe while also giving us a place to socialize. Can't wait to go back here!

Daniel L: Love this spot so much it’s hard to know where to start. Haven’t tried the food but have seen plenty of other people happily eating. Love Thirst Trap Thursdays, the drag show, where the spacious dance floor becomes a runway. Make sure to check out their social media for any upcoming events; FB: “Pitchers DC”, IG: “PitchersDC”. There are so many levels to this place that when thinking about it I honestly have to mentally walk around each floor/section. It’s not too big where it’s confusing but just big enough that there’s always variety and another opportunity to mix it up in a different area. There are video games in League Of Her Own, the connected lesbian bar, and in a few other spots around pitchers. Drinks are reasonably priced given the fact that it is in a busier area of DC. The reality is though I could think of a few other bars that cater to the same clientele with similar qualities but the biggest attraction here is the attitude of the bars patrons and employees. When you first walk in it’s obvious how great of a time everyone’s having (whether they are chilling or dancing away) because of peoples smiles and warm personalities. If you’ve checked out other LGBTQ bars you’ve probably stumbled upon one of those bars that feels like model homeland and anyone who doesn’t look a certain way doesn’t feel accepted. In addition, the homeland for some reason only hires and trains their bartenders to have an attitude and to look you up and down after taking your order as if to judge whether your worth their time. I only bring up bars like that because it’s the complete opposite here, to the point that I’ve caught myself wanting to tip plenty of pitchers bartenders the price of the drink (essentially doubling my out of pocket expense) because of their sweet smile and welcoming demeanor. Plus I don’t know who’s hiring the staff but great job to the HR department for scoring some veryyyy attractive ladies and gentlemen to run the door, manage the bars, and do all the other jobs. Bottom line, I know plenty of us grew up wishing/hoping/praying for a space where we could feel accepted while just being ourselves and the reality is that this is that place. Whether your just visiting DC for a hot second, a DMV resident looking for a fun time, or someone who’s not sure if the bar scene if for them, I challenge you to check out this spot because I couldn’t imagine a single person being disappointed. Simply put it’s a lovable DC destination for all.

Tiya Kothary: The place is great - the owner is on a power trip and enjoys ~trying~ to kick people out. He yelled at my friends and I who were seated at a table for not wearing masks while we were actively eating and then came back to harass us. Met multiple people who warned me about this person. Overall decent bar but the owner is a terrible person. Would recommend if owners change - otherwise don’t give your business here.

Bailey Curtis: Hands down, one of the best bars in DC. Drinks are strong and the bartenders are super nice. The entire building is well kept even on its busiest nights, everyone inside was kind and welcoming. I felt safe and had a great time from the moment I first stepped into the door to the moment I left. Highly recommended.

Greg Davis: Sports themed gay bar in the lively neighbourhood of Adams Morgan. Great atmosphere and good value drinks. This place gets busy upstairs.

The Fireplace: what do users think?

Gregory Hill: This place is so welcoming and friendly! I love The Fireplace! I stopped in here because it was raining and had the best time. Looking for a laid-back Cheers type bar? This is it! Bill the bartender is super cool and there are lots of regulars who are so nice and willing to help a visitor find some cool stuff to do! Coming here was the best choice I made today! ❤️❤️❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

D B: Strong cheap drinks. Music is in serious need of assistance. Playing random music from your the device of someone 60+ years old for a majority 20-40 year old crowd probably isn't the best idea. At least it doesn't smell like pee when you first walk in anymore.

Kevin Gowen: The Fireplace is dark, gloomy and completely uninviting. I give it two stars only because the bartender was friendly. It is a shame to see what this place has become.

Michael Watkins: The Firplace - Three drink maximum has been in effect as many years that I know no other place to order a best bar drink outside during a bar crawl. Stay cozy and affluent - star approved.

Brian Draine: Nice drinks for a excellent price they need a Crédit card machines so they people can stop going to the atm but the fee is super cheap they so you can beat it.also they need to open the up stairs windows so they fresh air can flow in that's why I stay downstairs most of the time

Delvin Miller-Wright: Nice place. Drinks are great.

dc phatts: Great Atmosphere. ❣Great Drinks. 🥂Good Times. 😍

Darnell T.: Good energy. Even on a slow night, crowd seemed to be in good spirits.

Lamont Ambrister: Not a lot of space at all.. and they dont accept card payments for drinks.

Clifton Adams: Although it takes a minute for the bartender to take your order. The bar is pretty good. Drinks will definitely get you lit. The people varies from different ages. Definitely an urban bar which I like. But I don’t like how they close at 2:30 am on Weekends. Kinda early, but other than that i have been going back ever since.

Number Nine: what do users think?

Christian Balson: I’m a gay Englishman living in Palm Desert California, my 79yr old Mum & her Wife had drinks here this evening. They LOVED how they were treated by everyone, staff & customers!…… Thank you all for making my Mum feel so welcome ❤️

Richard: You need to make a reservation in order to get a table. Fair prices, good service and they’re doing a great show with Covid guidelines. Dance-pop music , good TVs, good seating, bathroom was clean. I recommend this place.

Jayme Birgy: Number Nine is an LGBTQ-friendly/owned space situated in DC's gayborhood between historic Dupont & Logan Circles. People gather at Number Nine for handcrafted happy hour cocktails, a comfortable, well-lit atmosphere, music videos and the occasional live DJ during non-pandemic times. Iterations of this establishment have been serving the queer community for nearly 20 years. Number Nine supports the local community by hosting toy drives and sponsoring local LGBT sports teams, among other activities. Additionally, the ownership has created spaces across their brands that foster the growth of local talent such as performer KC B. Yoncé and artist DJ Chord. Be sure to also check out Nine's not-so-sisterly nightspot, TRADE, around the corner on 14th St.

Jorge Velasquez (Trxpjayyy): I am new to the area. I looked up a place to go and unwind after work. Sadly this wasn't what I expected, after being ignored at the bar for 18 minutes I had to go to the bartender in order to get a drink. To my surprise I was not even greeted but handed a drink and left unattended for the rest of the visit. If a good experience is what you're looking for I highly recommend to look elsewhere as you'll receive nowhere near that at this establishment.

Gregory Alan: I had a bartender here complain to me that I didn’t tip enough. He made a scene and was incredibly disrespectful. He told me to cross out my tip on the receipt and put zero because it wasn’t enough for him.

David Walker: As a Black queer person, this has never felt like a safe space for me.

Ty Williams: Decent bar. All ages and ethnicities. I love the two-for-one before 9:00 - just make sure you don’t lose your receipt. Can get pretty crowded on Fridays after work. Up and downstairs. Upstairs plays music and videos on a couple of small screens. Downstairs is usually ambient type music if someone isn’t playing on the piano. I give this place 3 stars. If the music was better (it’s mostly Lady Gaga or Madonna type songs) and they offered some type of bar food like fries or chicken fingers (anything to help soak up the liquor), I’d rate this place 5 stars. But I’ll be back again.

Rolf Sjogren: This place amuses me. It tries to have a sort of "upscale" vibe (and drinks are outrageously priced), but the crowd is loud and rowdy, mostly in a fun way. It's usually at least 1/2 sharp African American clientele. If you have a wing-man, you might get lucky, but otherwise no one talks to anyone they don't already know. Avoid the ground floor on Friday evenings, they have a deliberately-awful piano bar thing going on to actually discourage people from congregating near the entrance. It hilarious when you realize that's happening, but it's maybe the worst musical performance you'll ever experience.

Geovanni: Went on a Saturday night, crowded night crowd means the place is doing something good. I will say it was hard to get around and the narrow bar didn’t allow for much dancing or movement at peak time. The drinks were strong and friendly bartenders, would go back!

D Kenyon-Macalino: Horrible host! Had a reservation for 5 ppl at 6pm. Got there about 30 min early and saw that the outside tables (which are walk-in only) were available and by the heaters. We sat and went to tell the host we will take that table and cancel our other reservation. He rudely told us we must get up and wait. We asked why since it was walk-in outside not reservation tables. He didn't answer that question but told us if we don't get up we'd be removed from the property all together! So we got up and stood outside on P street. 6 pm came and no call. Checked in on the host and said it was delayed. (No appologies) FINALLY we were sat inside at 6:30 pm - 30 minutes after our scheduled reservstion. Not a big deal, but irratating. BUT at 8 pm the same host said our time has expired and we need to pay and leave (we just order another round) We explained that they were late seating us, and can we please stay to finish our drink and leave at 8:30 (within the ACTUAL 2 hour limit) We got the same rude answer - He didn't answer that question but told us if we don't get up we'd be removed from the property all together! BTW that outside table that we got kicked out sat UNUSED the entire time we were there! DO NOT GO to this please. We still tipped our bartender well (not his fault) but it was totally rude and unneeded. RUDEST host ever. We will go elsewhere from now on.

The Crown & Crow: what do users think?

M planetmike: Decorated a bit like a bar from Harry Potter's world, this bar is both cozy and spacious. Hook and the rest of the staff were awesome. Even for a Tuesday night, it was surprisingly busy. This is a bar. Food can be brought in. There is a small stage with a large screen where events are televised or can be used for karaoke nights. Thankfully, this bar minimizes the use of televisions, which are unneeded distractions. This is conveniently located near Thomas Circle and at the Southern end of the 14th Street scene.
Response: You can always count on us for a good time. Hope to have you back for another round sometime soon! -Cheers, The Crown & Crow

Christopher Yuen: I was in town for a business meeting and I took a few friends out to this bar on a whim and we had a blast! The bartenders were friendly and the drinks were unique and delicious! I had so much fun I ended up leaving my blazer at the bar. I called the manager Graham a few days later and he mailed it back to me all the way to Connecticut. He’s awesome and this place is too!!!!!
Response: Thanks Christopher, it's our pleasure to host you and your friends!

Melissa Hough: This might be my perfect bar. So warm and cozy, the staff is incredible, the drinks are good. It's never been packed (at least on a weekday night) which makes me feel better about the VID. I'd been here a few times before but last night went for the first time on my Dry January stint and they were awesome. Bartender made a tasty mocktail AND they have non-alcoholic beer! So glad I found this gem.
Response: We're thrilled to be your perfect bar, Melissa. You can always count on us for tasty drinks, even during Dry January! We hope you'll be back to see us again for round two sometime soon. -Cheers, The Crown & Crow

Chablis owens: It's the best bar in the city. The owner is an incredible person and if you get the chance to be served by him your night is going to be a thousand times better than you thought it would be. It is legitimately the best experience at a bar in DC you can possibly find. And it's not even a strip club. That's rare.
Response: Thanks for coming by, you rock and were lucky to have guests like you!

Annie: Cool bar with a chill vibe. Came here on a Monday night at 630 and there were only 2 other groups. Not the typical DC bar. There are a few tables and the bar to sit at. The cucumber mule was really good!
Response: You can always count on us for good vibes and great drinks, Annie. We're happy to hear you enjoyed your cucumber mule. Come back and see us for more cocktails in the future! -Cheers, The Crown & Crow

Noah Wahquahboshkuk: Aesthetically pleasing atmosphere and 2 sides to choose for your pleasure. The first side is more of an elbow-to-elbow-packed environment with loud music. The second side is a more relaxed spread out environment to hold more intimate conversations with friends. Being new to the area, ordering a beverage similar to the drink of preference (Weiser) was difficult due to the unfriendly bartenders. Kinda gave me the you-don't-belong-here vibe. The suggested brew was not the best, but the gin and tonic was great! Bathrooms clean as well as the main areas. Would come back and maybe study up on what is offered on tap.
Response: You can always expect good vibes from our place, Noah. We’d never want you to feel like you don’t belong here, and we’re sorry if that was the case. Next time you swing by, we’ll make sure to find you a brew you’ll love. Hope to see you back soon so we can impress you with our friendly service and unique tap selection. -Cheers, The Crown & Crow

David Benjamin: Booked a private event in their larger bar area and cannot say enough good things about Lindsay and the team as well as the space. The drinks were great, we received numerous compliments from our guests on the venue, and Lindsay was a huge help planning the whole thing. By far the best, most professional experience I've had booking an event space/bar in the DMV!
Response: We’re so happy you enjoyed your experience. We look forward to seeing you again. Thank you so much for the kind words.

Corey Nolan: Always have a great time in this nostalgic Bar. Brian "Bar Man" has done an outstanding job building his dream. Staff is super friendly and they have stepped up their cocktail game since I last visited. Glad I was able to ring in 2022 in such good company! Thanks C&C team! Stay safe!
Response: We're glad to hear you always have a great time with us, Corey. Our friendly staff is always here to take care of you and treat you to a cocktail. We hope you'll be back to celebrate with us sometime soon. -Cheers, The Crown & Crow

Adriana Cortés-Buelvas: I absolutely love the Crown and Crow. Great cocktails and a huge offer on drinks. Great indie rock music, feels like an Irish experience.Graham is the nicest!
Response: You can always count on us to show you a good time, Adriana! We're happy to hear you enjoyed your cocktails and the music. Hope to have you back again sometime soon! -Cheers, The Crown & Crow

Adam Adam: I went there for the first time last night I had the worst bartender in town. First he didn't even greet me or anything he walked up to me and asked me very rudely what do you wanna drink didn't, but I seen him greeting other guest properly so if I had to guess it might have to do with the fact I have an accent. I wasn't very familiar with the beers so asked him what's the lighter beer you have he laughs and said Guinness. I never been treated this way in this city.
Response: Adam, very sorry you had that experience, The Crown and Crow's staff represents cultures from 3 continents. One of our core values is that "everyone is invited to the party." I'm Brian, the owner/manager and I bartend on Fridays, please come by and let me buy you a drink and show you the hospitality that we are known for.

Gregory Gladkov: We had a really terrible interaction with one of the bartenders here. Separately from our interaction, she slammed the bar very hard to wake up a drunk person sitting next to us. Then, when we asked to close our tab, she argued with us about the letter my friend’s last name started with (it’s two names hyphenated). It really is a shame because the vibe of the bar is really nice.

Jordan: Came here during Pride and had a great time. Friendly crowd, drinks tasted good but still had alcohol, what more could you ask for?

Damien: Stopped in for a quick drink before dinner. The bartender was really nice and was helpful with drink suggestions.

Julia Byrd: Not bad for a classic gay bar. Service was good, definitely a favorite for the locals. Can get pretty busy and crowded. Just like anywhere else in the world, be watchful for weirdos.

Sam Johnson: My friend and I stopped in for a few drinks. We had a great time. Service was prompt and pleasant and everyone seemed genuinely pleased to be there. I'd like to visit again next time I'm in town.
Response: Sam, it's wonderful to know you had a great time here with your friend. Our team is proud to know they treated you to some incredible drinks. We're glad you left with a good impression! We look forward to having you back again soon. -Ron, Owner

E S: Speakeasy gay bar. Alot of older gays here. Heavy pours, late hours, cheap drinks. Come thru!

Neel Roshania: Spent my cool spring Tuesday evening after an 8 hour commute here. Steven can make any cocktail 🍸

Jamie Williams: Cute little neighbourhood gem gay bar. This place has a very chill vibe with mostly locals hanging out and having a cocktail. They have outdoor seating which is super cute and there is always someone to chat with.
Response: There's nothing more rewarding than making sure our customers have a five-star experience, Jamie. Thanks for taking the time to share how your last visit went! -Ron, Owner

Jose Andrés Morocho: Those bar tenders were horrible, mean, disrespectful and over all the worst welcome ever. Don’t go there! And if you do be ready!
Response: Jose, we're truly upset to hear about your recent experience, and I an assure you we'd never want you to feel unwelcomed here. Our team works hare to provide an exciting yet open space for all our guests, so we apologize if you didn't encounter this during your visit. We'd love to invite you back to give us another chance to impress you. -Ron, Owner

Jay H: Nice atmosphere, actually able to carry on a conversation with whoever's there. Bartender was really nice. Prices were good and the drinks stiff! Definitely will return.

Little Miss Whiskey's Golden Dollar: what do users think?

India Lindsay: Great for dancing and affordable drinks!! Only bar I’ve found so far offering a great environment and $6 bar drinks. Small but fun dance floor upstairs. Went on a rainy Friday night and it wasn’t too crowded. The majority of people were dancing and having a great time. DJ played songs we all knew and took requests.

Justin Soundwaves: Friendly respectful bartenders Safe but rowdy weekend with music spinning upstairs Week notes are more intimate but still energetic...always good music downstairs and up ... Down stairs is rock records of all genre on nice speakers upstairs rap and pop (only weekend) on pa Is usually get Pabst but I’ve seen whiskey enthusiast come in and enjoy a variety of flavors. Also lost my wallet there one night and no one even took it was on the floor next day with all items inside

Samantha Horn: Love this place! It’s definitely my go-to for a drink with friends my neighborhood. I love sitting on the patio area and upstairs on the patio to have conversations and a chill vibe. Then the inside for a loud club-type atmosphere. Best of both worlds!

Axel Wiksten Färnström: Had a great visit on a Monday. Hector in the bar offered equally great beer recommendations and conversation. Nice atmosphere, we enjoyed the mystique in the bar as well as the back patio. Hidden gem!

Jerry Glose: It's ok. Kind of a dive bar (1st floor) mixed with a trashy dance floor (2nd floor) to give you the best of two separate worlds? It was odd. I was uncomfortable on the dance floor as it was tiny and horribly designed. The bar on the first floor was a lot more tolerable but again, it was a dive.

Morrill Wimbush: Professional, courteous bartendersWeekend safe yet boisterous with music playing upstairsWeek notes are more personal yet still lively.

Ankz Patel: Me and my friends love the back patio. We had a blast here. Gonna go back again!

Timothy Abdella: Whiskey Yes… and an amazing selection of German beer… Tucher, Gaffel, Radeberger…

Brooke Powell: Kind of dark and dive-y but if you’re into that vibe I’d say go for it. The cheapo whiskey flight is cool - The Awesomeness is dangerous. I like the patio. The dance floor was mad crowded, some girl was rubbing her butt on me, some other girl was begging my bf to dance with her but we successfully gave her our friend Mark instead. Now you know.

Cinnamon Bunny: A great little place that you might miss if you're not specifically looking for it! It's the one with the purple lights. A bar downstairs and a dance floor upstairs after 10:00. We mostly hung in the bar. They have a great beer list and of course a good whiskey selection. If you like your drinks fruity and frozen do try The Awesomeness. It's delicious and strong. The bartenders are friendly and chatty(if you want to chat), especially if you go in early before it gets really busy. Not that they stop being friendly after it gets busy, they just have less time to chat of course! It also seems to be a little haven for queer people in the neighborhood so while there are plenty of cishet couples that come in I also felt happily enough surrounded by my own people to let my guard down a little. Great bar. Oh, and it was very sparkly, and I do love sparkles!

Madam's Organ: what do users think?

Brad Badger: My girlfriend and I made sure to stop here after she had been here years ago and loved it. Our bartender Deborah was 10/10. She made some amazing drinks and was incredibly great to us. We got an appetizer sampler and the fried fish bites were absolutely killer. Live music was great as well. Cool vibes and great service. I will definitely stop by Madams Organ again the next time I am in DC!

Eve Breier: Lovely atmosphere! The music is good, bartenders are friendly, nice mix of club-like dance floor upstairs, seated area on the middle floor, and a bar/performance area downstairs. It has it all. Also pretty funky decor all over.

James Bladen: I really wanted to try this place and menu sounded good, but waited over 15 minutes or more for someone to take my order and never did! I asked the bartender if someone was going to wait on my table and I could not hear what his response was, he just mumbled something. I was being as patient as possible and understand places are short staffed. There was a big table of around 10 people upstairs and I was by myself downstairs, I guess that explains it. The bartender was more interested staring at his phone than making sure his customers were taken care of. I was going to order a large order and I do tip good, but sorry, you just lost a customer and me recommending a place if you ignore solo diners like that.
Response: Sorry it didn’t work out for you. We are having labor issues but that is no excuse

Stacy Walker: Awesome spot, easy bar, and amazing entertainment! Check them out on Tuesday nights for great live music

Marieke Kooymans: Worst service we've ever had.. We were a group of 4 and came for dinner and to perform at the open mic. We were completely ignored when we came into the bar, even though it was quiet. At some point we just sat down and when the waitress finally came we asked for cocktails. She threw (literally) a crumpled stained cocktail menu on the table that looked as if it was taken out of the trash. She later explained they don't serve cocktails anymore which maybe explains..? We felt pretty invisible during dinner, it took a long time to order food/drinks and our plates weren't cleared away. We made a pile ourselves of the dishes and napkins ,and when dessert came the pile was cleared away, but the waitress took off the used napkins and put them back on the table for us to reuse. We ordered 2 desserts and got 1, but decided to let it go and just ask for the bill. We tried to get the attention of the waitress but failed. After 20 minutes we walked around to find her and asked her to pay. She looked at us and then ignored us and walked away. it felt very disrespectful. We considered leaving cash on the table and just leaving (risking the cash to be taken by someone else in a now crowded bar). The kitchen porter then came by to clear the rest of our table and we asked him for the bill as a final attempt. He was very friendly and helped us. The waitress then told us the price to pay but we asked for a receipt. She seemed very annoyed and finally arranged a receipt. It took us in total at least one hour and a lot of effort to pay! At this point we did not feel welcome and just went home without playing at the open mic.

Ieshia E. Butler: Food was just ok. Nothing to write home about. I am from the Caribbean and was expecting the soul food to be a bit more flavorful. The waitress was really nice and the menu was affordable.
Response: Maybe you wanted Caribbean food and not Soul food

Amanda: Great dark chilled atmosphere. Multiple floors with a partially covered roof top bar. Live bands. Friendly speedy service. Reasonable food and drink prices. Pool table available.

SHIKATSE KPANYAA: Great Place to have fun in DC. Live bands, hip-hop and country. Three different dance floor at the same place. Judy go to where you wanna have fun. They don't have meals so get something to eat around

DiiJay Victorious: Great place. Bouncer is cool and ppl are sociable. Bands are cool. Beware atmospheres change momentarily and without notice (not for badly, just different crowds)

Alison Scott: Loved the live music, bartender was so friendly! Amazing vibes - so glad we stopped in here. One of my favorite stops while visiting DC

Kiki: what do users think?

Dre Marlowe: My partner and I have been going to Kiki since it opened in early January of 2022. This is a super nice LGBT bar in DC. We have experienced all of the LGBT bars in DC and there is a reason Kiki is our favorite spot. From the front door to the back this is a honest hangout spot. Security is always super nice and inclusive. Kiki has some of the Best bartenders that have worked in DC with years of experience. The owner is very sweet and you can find him around the bar some nights. Outdoor area is clean and a great spot to socialize away from the crazy dance floor and DJ. They are always looking to improve the experience you get. Drag shows and underwear contests are always fun. Hoping to see what the future brings when the second half of the building is open. The line is worth the wait!

sergio venegas: Edited: so it turns out the limit of people is due to their license, which is not in their control but still not the best when their total number doesn’t let them to fill the space. Watch out: expect to make long lines in busy nights and expect to find the place downstairs empty - apparently it’s all due to limit on total of ppl they can have. Still not sure if worth the one hour line to enter! … Once you make it to the second floor the music was fine, drinks, and everything else just like any other bar in town. Nothing special.
Response: Hi Sergio, Currently, we're allowed an occupancy of a 129 people. This number is enforced by the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) and supplied by Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA). Going over this number will simple result in a fine to the business and a chance of losing the liquor license. Unfortunately, at this time there isn't much we can do to increase the number. We hope you reconsider your review as this is simply out of our control.

Huy Truong: Update: (5/13/2022): The owner did reach out to me and my partner regarding the incident. they are very polite and acknowledged what happened was unacceptable. They took the issue very seriously and placed the bartender on probation. That showed they really care about business ethics and want to ensure this is a safe place for LGBTQ+ minorities. It really satisfied us with their response. Therefore, we will give them another chance, and continue to support their business. Since this is a very nice LGBTQ+ bar, if the owner keeps his operational ethics this way, I am sure the bar will thrive. -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- My experience at Kiki is not a good experience. I and my partner went to Kiki for the first time on a Saturday. We are residents of DMV for years and love the bars here. However Kiki left a really bad taste in our mouths. We ordered our first drinks from a bartender (who was white). He is very nice. The drinks were railed vodka tonic. $8 each - reasonable price for gay bars in DC. However, when we went down stair to order the same drinks from another bartender (who was Black). He charged us $10 each for the same drinks. In highlights, we did ask him if the bar take cash. And we saw him put our $20 plus $5 tips in his pocket for 2 drinks. We knew right there, he saw the opportunity to do some hustling aka stealing. There is no paper trail since it was paid in cash. It really made us very uncomfortable and upset. It really ruined our moods for the night. We went back the bartender upstair and ordered another round. It was still $8 each. We told him what happened to us down stair. He was embarrassed and told us that, he will talk to the bartender down star since it had happened before. The whole incident really makes us very upset and unsure if we want to go back to Kiki. We are local residents and been in gay bars since Town was here. We comes to no. 9, Dirty Goose, Trade, Uproar every weekend, and yet never experienced this kind of treatment ever. As someone who immigrated from Asia, and have accent, I have experienced more discrimination since Covid happened. So this just makes me feel even worst cause I feel ripped off by another marginalized group. We are the only Asian there, so we have to pay extra to be accepted? Overall, I am not sure if i can ever give Kiki another chance. But if anyone visit Kiki, order drinks upstair, the bartender there is very honest, nice, and you will never feel ripped off or discriminated cause you look different from everyone in the bar, and feel like you have to pay extra just to be there.
Response: Hi Huy, This is very disappointing and I completely understand how upsetting it is. First, I would like to offer you an apology. I never want anyone to feel that they have been discriminated against here at Kiki. Kiki was opened for everyone to enjoy and feel safe in. I can't express how sadden I am to hear this. A full investigation will occur immediately. If you can please contact me through the website I would greatly appreciate.

Christian Berle: When you think the St. Regis is expensive, come to Kiki, where 4 vodka sodas ran my husband and I $104. Oh, and that was a happy hour price. Bar was empty, I can understand why. Never coming here again.
Response: Hi Christian, still waiting for your email. 4/15/22. Thank you! Hi Christian, If you contact us through our website we can review your bill. Absolut is the only vodka included in hour happy hour at $6 or $7 per drink. Thank you

Robin Ramsey: Small space and $40 for 2 RBVs and a beer. No thank you.Does anyone else think it's weird to have live camera feeds of the dance floor going to TVs in other places in the bar?

Cole Hiser: It's a hit or a miss like most bars, depending on the night. The security person made a comment last time saying, "I don't know what you all want me to address you as..." (like in a mocking tone) so I assume someone called him out for misgendering people before. It was a bit off-putting, and I know he didn't mean it in a malicious way, but a gay bar is the last place you want to experience microaggressions.

Harold Cartier: Disappointed. Thought I'd check out this new bar. The guy at the door and the bartender weren't the friendliest. Also $20 for a double is a little ridiculously expensive. Don't really feel a need to go back.

David Clark: Fabulous doormen John & Kadeem! Super friendly & respectful - make you feel safe & secure in today’s crazy world.

Joe Drake: Loved it!!! Went with a friend and everyone was friendly. Loved the vibe, would definitely come again. Highly recommend!

Kevin Jeter: Kiki is a wonderful low key be yourself place. Sexy men adds to the vibe.

DC9 Nightclub: what do users think?

grant rohland: I like going to concerts here the place has a good vibe and nice staff, the only issue I have is the way it's laid out is a bit strange the merch table is right in front of the door so you get people blocking the door trying to get merch. It's a small complaint but overall this is a good spot to go see music I really enjoyed it.

John T: This dive bar is awesome! In the summer you can relax on the 3rd fl rooftop and laugh at everyone waiting in line for the "popular" bar across the street. In the winter they have small indi bands on the second floor. Great concert space. Staff has seen it all so be respectful!

Katelyn Stenger: Intimate venue and very friendly staff. I would highly recommend if you can! The tickets were shockingly affordable and the folks at the front actually checked vaccination and ID. Much appreciated.

Jessica Strahin: Went there for a small intimate concert. Loved the venue and the staff!!

Robert Cardoni: Great intimate show space to see smaller up and coming bands ... only hold about 150 people - so sold out shows are tight. Staff is super friendly. Beer is cold. Sound is good. What more could a music fan ask for Check set times though. Sometime shows are early with dance parties afterwards ...

Omny Miranda Martone: I love DC9. We go here regularly. The bottom floor is a typical indoor bar, the second floor is for dancing, and the top floor is a rooftop bar. Definitely recommend.

Stacey Brooks: Little but intimate. TTNG played twice here and it was a laid back experience. Bar on every level, food always smells great, bands perform on the second level without it being over crowded! Great place to rock!

Joe Nicol: always a good time, the best unofficial gay bar in DC — great acts, cool space

Chris B: 150 person capacity venue means you can get up close to the bands but shows usually end pretty early and the beer list is not impressive by any means. The food is pretty good tho, and be sure to get their garlic fries as a side to whatever you order.

Daniel Cox: Great place for live music. It is a really small and intimate venue which makes for a much better experience. Bouncer was really nice, drinks are averagely priced, and overall a good experience. Would come to a show here again.

Black Cat: what do users think?

Nick Pascale: performed there with my band, The Missing Peace (check us out) and the staff was extremely nice to us and treated us with utmost respect despite opening for a huge artist. Also music venues normally carry a stigma of being stingy with their alcohol in their drinks but Black Cat served great tasting, well mixed drinks - best venue i’ve experienced in the DMV area!

Tom Burke: I've been to this club a few times over the past 15 or so years. Always liked it. It's a long haul for me (~1.5 hr drive), so I don't go often.

Tom Mole: Covid testing requirements were listed clearly and visibly written on the venue's website. The venue was pretty clean and the restrooms were surprisingly kept up which is rare.. The front desk/counter lady was extremely polite and nice. I will definitely return for another awesome musical performance! DC music shows! :)

Saminda Wijegunawardena: Saw Boy Harsher here on April 10th (2022) and it was the first time seeing this duo. Dark, early new wave-inspired songs, very synth-heavy with pounding minimal beats made for a great show at this raw venue. It was my first time back here in about 20 years, still has a great vibe if not the best acoustics. If they had better sound here and some better vantage points for the folks that aren't 6 feet tall, I'd definitely give it 5 stars.

Ramiro Pena: My past two experiences have been dreadful. They pack the place so full of people it is really concerning. I straight up got panic attacks from just how many people are packed in post pandemic. God bless them but I guess it’s just not for me anymore. It’s so hard to ascertain when the events held here arent packed with a huge huge group of people because besides that I’m sure there are worthwhile acts to watch. I remember one group that did a really cool interpretive dance I’m sorry for the low score but thats me and I think I’m going to add some keywords so that a certain audience can understand. If you have autism or anxiety this might not be the most accesible place for you. The last two times I have been here getting a drink or even approaching the bar has been impossible. The place was so packed inevitability people were rubbing up against me CONSTANTLY. Personally I can’t stand that. This place has pinball which is nice but last time the one machine had a flipper broken. I wish I could enjoy being inside this place but theres no where to sit most of the time I feel awkward walking in and just standing around, I can’t feel comfortable dancing because theres no room to move without brushing up against someone. I just can’t stand that. This is a personal problem but if you have sensory issues like that consider this an advisement

kevin jenkins: Had a great time seeing Flobots. Bartenders are great. Tip them. Well.

JW Francis: I played here on 4/19 and had a wonderful experience! Very cool room with checkered floor. Very kind people behind the bar and working production. Two thumbs wayyyy up!

Jeffrey Hearn (he / him): Limited but welcome seating for a big guy who can't stand for 3 hours at a stretch

Robert Cardoni: Mid size music venue hosting indie and punk acts. Space is long and narrow - so sight lines and sound can be off near the back but it’s still a great space. They recently downsized from 2 levels to one. Kind of sad but at least they weren’t forced out of the neighborhood due to gentrification. Bring cash. No credit cards accepted They no longer have food :(

Marissa Frank: Love going to shows at the black cat. The bar upstairs is no longer cash only, but they will not keep tabs. Drink prices are fine. The bathrooms need some help but it's a small fun venue, it's fine.

Morris American Bar: what do users think?

Martin Schmidt: nice atmosphere, slightly too much air-con , or we as European are not use it ?.. We ordered 2 espresso martini, they were average, So much vodka , and coffee was not strong enough. For my taste But their original cocktail were Bom !!! Jamaican twist on Manhattan super tasty . La Reina was soooo good , if you live tequila try this . Overall i would definitely go back
Response: Hi Martin! We are ecstatic to hear you found us all the way from Europe-- it was our pleasure having you! Thank you for taking the time to try our selection of cocktails and for this detailed review (we know a cocktail connoisseur when we meet one)! Looking forward to seeing you in the future !

Bradley Popkin: Swanky and cozy bar with two floors. Spent some time here with family and friends. Great cocktail selection and service. We were greeted quickly and everyone was friendly. I really appreciated the full-size Johnnie Walker figure outside lol.

Neil Patel: The staff are super friendly and accommodating. We ordered off the menu and were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked our drinks. The mocktails and zero proof drinks were great too!
Response: Neil, thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that you had a great experience and we hope to see you again soon!

Andrea Martin: Good drinks, good service. It’s across the street from where Google currently shows. Has an outdoor patio that feels much different than the indoor vibe
Response: We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your experience with Morris! Thank you for this great review!

Nirupa P: Good experience. We did the Halloween special & the drinks were good. We both got 3 drinks each & they were great. Our favorite was Noche de sueno & dia de muertos. Food menu were also limited. We got the devil eggs & they were good.

Jeff Wilson: All of the staff (especially Rhine and Rita) are absolutely amazing. I'd previously rated Morris 4 stars several years ago but they've definitely earned all 5. Fabulous cocktails, they can make anything you're feeling in the mood for. Always be on the look out for their special events, especially when they do Filipino food.
Response: Thank you for your kind words and 5-star review, Jeff! Looking forward to seeing you back with us in the future!

Rachel Lipton: The space was thoughtfully designed with a great bar but the drinks were a bit of a letdown - certainly not bad but I was expecting something a touch more exciting (I know they rotate monthly so I’ll be back to try some new ones soon) The vibe was also a touch quiet/empty which was a bit of a bummer since we were celebrating but perhaps it would have been better if we were there earlier or later

Adam Pusateri: Morris is without a doubt an absolute gem of a cocktail bar and my personal favorite. The bartenders are not only inventive but also thoroughly well-versed in classics and contemporary drinks. You can tell the whole team is proud of their bar, and it really shows. The seasonal menu is their own impressive creation, but make no mistake, they gladly take requests and offer new suggestions. Inside is a time capsule of a classic bar. The colors, décor, lighting, music – it is the perfect place for relaxing drinks. Outside is shaded and casual, exactly what you want for a group of friends. Other bars even the often lauded “Bests in DC” have fallen short of what Morris is consistently doing here in terms of quality, knowledge, skill, and service. You get way more than what you pay for here. As amazing as it all is, it is not at all stuffy. Everybody is friendly, easygoing, and enjoys what they are doing. This review is long overdue and could not be more well deserved. Morris often surprises, never disappoints, and after all their extra hard work during the pandemic, I cannot wait to sit at the actual bar again. Until then, cheers!
Response: Thank you so much Adam! So glad you enjoyed your experience.

byron subero: ..... my friends are the worst. They keep sending me places to go to. This was a nice spot. Drinks and the bartender was on point. Ask for Rita. She's a mixologist
Response: Hi Byron, sorry about your friends, but glad you discovered Morris!

Mohan Sun: Our favorite cocktail joint in town! The drinks are top-notch and reasonably-priced. We’ve been to other “good” places that charged $16 for a to-go cup. Morris beats that in so many aspects and it never disappoints. Everyone works there are super nice and knowledgeable. Doug, Ian and Rhine are skillful bartenders who can fix you up with almost any requests. They usually have seasonal cocktail menus and recently added low & non-alcohol drinks which is perfect for a person like me who can’t drink too much. I got Strawberry Kitty last time and it’s sooo good! If you want something refreshing, you NEED to get it! Please support their business. They work hard to stay afloat while continue to innovate great drinks during this difficult time.
Response: Thank you for your review and your support Mohan!

Round Robin Bar: what do users think?

Caitlin Cordova: The Round Robin Bar is the perfect place to have a cocktail during the holidays when you’re downtown to see the National Christmas Tree. Located inside the Willard Hotel, which is a work of art in itself, the circular Bar serves cocktails and a full menu of classic options. Cocktails ~$20 apiece. Happy hour is crowded, but there are plenty of standing options around the bar itself, and additional seating options in the hallway of the hotel’s lobby. Our bar table service was quick and efficient. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Ray Hendrick: Friendly service. Great drinks. Awesome history. A perfect place for after dinner drinks during your visit to DC. Try the Mint Julep or the Bee's Knees.

Annie Wilson: Attentive service, beautiful warm atmosphere and classic drinks - a delicious experience. The mint julep is spectacular, not fussy, and the staff are cheerful, knowledgeable and enjoyable to watch keeping bar. We went here to celebrate an occasion but we also went to see the national Christmas tree - great location for this. The historical aspects of the bar make a great addition to the experience.

Sue D: Every evening I've ever spent here has been epic. This past time, we got to know half the bar (as per usual here), and there was a great jazz trio playing Christmas music in the lobby. The Willard has the prettiest Christmas decorations in town every year. If you have company coming in from out of town (any time of year), be sure to bring them here. Don't miss the room at the top of the long red staircase that tells about the history of The Willard. MLK Jr finished his "I Have a Dream" speech here.

Paul Terry Services Lawn Care & Landscaping: Christina and her staff are - in a word - AMAZING. Kind, caring and beyond gracious. Special requests are a not a problem for this crew. For the most unique and special celebration, look no further. Grateful for this staff.

Hue Tran: Went to the place for a drink and dessert. Service was horrible. I was eating on my dessert and the lady walking passed my table and just grabbed my dessert plate without saying anything, none of the " are you done with this? Or can I take this? Was happened.

Alex Holston: Fantastic. In the 1800’s Henry Clay brought the Mint Julep to Washington DC featuring it at this bar. Rich in history they still make this favorite May drink the same way. Makers Mark. Rose Simple Syrup. Muddle mint. Crushed ice. Our bar tender was fantastic. One of the best. We will return.

Patsy Agpalza: The Round Robin Bar at the Willard Hotel in D.C. is quickly becoming a favorite spot to have a drink and soak up the atmosphere. The Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon is absolutely delicious. I have ordered it twice now and have been very happy each time. The Bartender, Elias has worked there for 30 years and is absolutely phenomenal. Ask him to make you any drink and you will not be disappointed.

Matthew: A classy bar in a historic hotel only steps away from where Ulysses S Grant coined the terms lobbyists. Great bartenders who know how to serve a proper glass of whiskey.

Joey Emmitte: An amazing topshelf selection! And you can't beat the amount of history in this quaint bar.

Silver Lyan: what do users think?

Marissa P: Extremely well priced cocktails for this area and the caliber of the drinks/service. You can go to a dive bar down the street and still be paying $14 for a drink out of a plastic cup! The ambience is lowlight speakeasy style, perfect for a date night. Bases loaded was the best we tried, the cherry float was delicious! I’m not even much of a whiskey fan either. If you’re a fan of good service and attention to detail, Silver Lyan should be on your list.

Caleb Trantham: Massive thanks to Alex for a great service experience, this place is absolute mixology heaven. The drinks are all very tasty, the jello shots are super flavorful, personal favorite goes to the fisherman punch with its blend of rums. would highly highly recommend this bar, very worth the price it's just a cut above so many other venues and the speakeasy vibes and great playlist all add to the experience. If you're in the DC area be sure to stop by for an after-dinner drink, you won't regret it.

Rebecca Carmeli-Peslak: worth every penny. such a cool classy experience. the staff is all amazing and goes out of their way to help you pick the perfect drinks for your celebration. we really enjoyed the fruit jell-o shots project apollo champagne espresso martinis and french martini. my party and i will definitely be returning soon! bonus they have a giant gumball machine

Ryley Thompson: Modern space with an interesting vibe in the basement of the St. Riggs. The cocktails are unique, which honestly is hard to do these days. Prices were fine but higher than average If that matters to you. Very friendly staff was a highlight. Definitely worth a stop on your DC cocktail adventure.

Barry Downs (FABS): Great place .to have night cap. Great soft low light mood. Sitting.in a old bank vault can't get Sexy cool and fun.. Good for everything from a business meeting, date or group.of friends. .drink menu was excellent. Jello shots and champagne 🍾 were a HIT. But lots to choose from. Also.offered up some PEI Oysters. Service was great. Price.point $$$$.

Natalia P: Best cocktail bar in DC. Service was quick and everyone was friendly. Chairs were cute and comfortable. Definitely will be back next time I’m in the area.

Hillary Severson: Great spot! We have been to Riggs Cafe before and had no idea this was in the basement. It is definitely speakeasy- esque ... the vibes are great and the drinks are impressive. They even gave us free champagne for my boyfriend's birthday. 10/10 recommend!

Blvknative: Nice underground world to step into inside the Riggs, a bunch of different drinks curated perfectly with every drink. The ambience of the place is to die for. Great way to end your night!

Briana H.: After mistaking Silver Lyan for another bar in the area, I can honestly say it was a happy accident and this might become one of my go-to spots from now on. The velvet seating and subtle mood lighting give you a sultry vibe and encourage you to stay a while. The cocktails were really well done and the service was incredible (welcoming, knowledgable, personable). I'll definitely be back!

byron subero: Nice spot to grab a drink and relax. Very crowded cause they had special guests from NYC for the cherry festival but definitely will go back......aaaaand I went back
