Bacchus Wine Cellar: what do users think?

Anna: Fun shop with lots of beautiful selections from reasonably priced $20 bottles two more impressive collectible one is better. Good quality alcohol and pretty to look at. The only reason for a four-star review is because there was an obvious tasting of a bottle going on between the locals and the shop owners and when I asked for a little taste they said that they were done with a bottle. I think for the purposes of new customers they should always have a little sip or two to offer for a tasting that would go a long way in sales especially on a New Year's Eve. After all the customers with a little bit of blood alcohol level I'm much more likely to splurge on $180 bottle of tequila that I absolutely adored and would be much more likely to buy if I had a sip of wine. I think in our culture when we have a guest over we try to always offer them something even if it's a small gesture. The bond lady was very hospitable and really knew her wine and 🍾

JACK HOWARD: This is by far the best wine store in DC, The wonderful knowledgeable team and the man himself Bassam, always knows his stuff and works with your budget whatever that may be. Lots of great finds in here and interesting conversations.
Response: Thank you Mr Jack for all your support!!

Meghan Moody: I love this place! Always a welcome smile (under a mask!) & lots of friendly neighborhood people coming in and out of the store. not a bad collection of wine either ;) I've found some hidden gems here, things that are hard to find elsewhere

Shawn leonard: I live in VA and often come into Bacchus because of the insane inventory! Everything is clearly bought with a personal touch. This is a treasure trove of what ever your budget allows! Great neighborhood culture spot! You never know who may just drop in? Local people to iconic celebrities seem to drop by to quench their tastes and get insight into Washingtonian culture and gossip. Even in a time of Covid. Clean and friendly environment. Bassam seems to know how to attract people with great tastes.
Response: Thank you very much for your support!!

Truong Huynh: Beautiful wine cellar with a fantastic selection! The prices were reasonable as well. Staff always wore masks when I was there so kudos to that.

Leks Gerlak: Just went there yesterday, and they were holding a wine tasting with multiple people not wearing masks. Even when we went in, no one put their masks on. Unbelievably inconsiderate and unsafe. This happened at peak COVID cases. Prices are also way overly marked up.

John Lever: The best selection of hard to find wines in DC. I don't know how they manage to do it in such as small place. The wine and whiskey clubs are fabulous deals. It is a Georgetown establishment that has something for everyone.... from epicurean to every day varieties of wine, beer and spirits. Ask for Max or Bassam.
Response: Thank you Mr Lever!!

Ian Muir: Bacchus Wine Cellar is the kind of store that really makes you feel part of a neighborhood. Super friendly staff, great tasting events, and, of course, an excellent selection of wine and spirits. A real asset to upper Georgetown!
Response: Thank you Mr Ian!!

Richard Spencer: The ultimate "neighborhood wine store". Basam is the perfect proprietor and will help you explore both wines and spirits. Just stop by to share a glass of wine on a Friday afternoon. AND they deliver!
Response: Thank you Richard!!!

Brad Winters: Our group paid for a wine tasting here. We got kicked out for being loud. We weren’t being mean or messing around, just talking and enjoying ourselves with the other group also doing the wine tasting. Very disappointing, I won’t be returning.
Response: We appreciated you and your group coming into our store today but you guys became extremely loud and were disturbing our other customers. We asked you all to quiet down three times only for your group to become more boisterous. At which point we asked you to leave. We’re sorry your experience with us wasn’t all that you hoped but we need to cater to all of our customers not just the largest group.

Calvert Woodley Fine Wines & Spirits: what do users think?

Mike Sternad: Calvert Woodley’s is back! I always went there for the joy of discovering new things (Absente) and exploring (new whiskeys) AND the expert advice. How do you know which cognac under $100 delivers great smoothness and depth? And what are the new sipping bourbons worth trying? Should I take an entire case of that recommended Pinot noir? What cheeses are on sale this week? FAO Schwartz for adults, but it takes being live for the full effect 🤠
Response: Thank you Mike, this is amazing! We really appreciate your kind words and your support. And we love that you love coming in, so thank you for everything. Have a wonderful holiday season. -Michael Sands, Owner

Paul Oliva: One of the best selections of liquors, aperitif, mixers, cordials, bitters, and wines. Very nice selection of cheeses and deli meats.
Response: Thank you Paul! We're thrilled that you enjoy CW and we appreciate your support. -Michael Sands

Victoria “LaRue76” Garzillo: Hands down the very best and finest most comprehensive wines and spirits in Washington DC. I've been a customer for over 30 years. Delicious deli selections and many wonderful knowledgeable staff. My visit was a delight as always.
Response: Thank you Victoria, this is amazing! Your longtime support is appreciated, more than you could ever know. -Michael Sands

Charlie Leocha: Good prices on spirits. You can purchase many wines for less at Trader Joe's and Costco. But Scotch is a winner.
Response: Thank you for the feedback, Charlie. -Michael Sands, Owner

Scott Williamson: This is not your average wine and liquor store - definitely rely on the smart people who work there for guidance. If you are out to impress with a smart bottle, go here
Response: Thank you Scott, we really appreciate your support! -Michael Sands, Owner

Andrew L: One of the best, if not THE best, wine and spirits store in DC. I shopped there for years while I was still working and still stop in for a special bottle of champagne or wine when I'm visiting. Bill Hunter and his colleagues know the wine world like the back of their own hands and are always willing to make a recommendation.
Response: Andrew, you are the best! Thank you so much for the kind words, they mean more than you could ever know. Sorry to hear that you moved away but we're so appreciative of your continued support. Take care. -Michael Sands

Nick Porritt: Terrific wine store with good selection at every price point. Fast delivery in DC as well.
Response: Thank you Nick, we really appreciate your support! -Michael Sands, Owner

Ashley Harris: Amazing staff and amazing selection! All staff are very knowledgeable and I have never received a bad recommendation on wine or cheese. Excellent customer service and all are extremely friendly as well. 10/10 recommend making CW your go-to shop!
Response: Wow, thank you Ashley! We're thrilled that you enjoy CW and we really appreciate the kind words. Happy New Year. -Michael Sands

DP O'R (Spooky_DC): This is a great store and a little hidden gem on New Mexico Ave (right beside Starbucks). I've shopped here many times and usually its to get something very specific for wine and whiskey drinkers who know their stuff so not the average bottle of plonk. For that reason I can trust Calvert Woodley to always have that special something I need. The last few times I was there, the store was busy but at least 2 people on the floor around the store asked if I needed any help. What I really like is if you say "no thanks I'm all good, just browsing", they let you do just that but you still feel comfortable to go back and say "hey I've had a good look but could now do with some advice" and they'll instantly help you out and give you their best advice based on the short list you have come up with. The prices are very competitive (I always shop around online first) so I always feel confident that I can shop here, get what I want that's special but also pay at a competitive market price. I used to work for Guinness Ireland (Diageo) in their headquarters in Dublin, Ireland so I have a good sense of whiskey, vodkas, beers and always feel the advice they give in this store is market smart!! Helpful, friendly and courteous and they have a great curb side serve so you can't go wrong. Recommend you stop in - it looks smaller on the outside than it is inside and they have a LOT of stock!! My local so very handy!!
Response: Thank you Denise, so nice to hear! We're thrilled that you enjoy CW so much. It means a lot to me so thank you for sharing your kind words. Take care. -Michael Sands

Robert Main: I've shopped at Calvert Woodley Fine Wines & Spirits many times. Every time the staff have been very helpful, polite, and cheerful. The service is great! The prices are also the lowest I've found in the area.
Response: Thank you Robert, and sorry for the slow reply! Take care. -Michael Sands

The Wine Specialist: what do users think?

Naz A: Worst staff, i see no improvements. But i would love if store has more deals. No quality wines!!
Response: Thanks we try to have deals but will try harder

CL: I just saw the "store closing" notice on their website. I'm so bummed, this store always had everything I needed and their staff are so friendly!

Jiva Raiolo: BAD collection of items - vodka and beer both! Many store in DC but just never visited this one until today..NOT professional help/advise from the gentleman at counter - and gave 0% for next corp discountt which i thought was not appreciated. they have issue with landlord!!
Response: Great, thank you Jiva!!

John Modzelewski: Selection is okay, but management: freshen up the inventory! I had a hard time getting past seeing a beer (Stone Ruination DIPA) in the fridge with a best by date 2 years old. That’s a good beer — when fresh — and beer drinkers know this. If this store has ancient inventory like that in fridges, how old (and degraded?) are the wines on the stacks? Anybody’s guess. But I was instantly disinclined to buy anything from the store, sorry.
Response: Sorry about that but the distributor had made a mistake ..thanks for catching

Jessy Manuel: Staff are very friendly but this is not the place to go for fine wines. I have seen many of their wines at Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s for cheaper for example the Beaujolais Villages. It’s called “The Wine Specialist”. I was expecting more than a liquor store with a few grocery store quality wines.

Rudolf Kormos: Employee don’t know how to talk with people
Response: good morning i appologise for there behaviour please let me know so we can make things better

Jack Myer: Awesome store. Old good selection of beverages. Liked the staff too. Love wines, and wine tasting events -frebei!!!
Response: Thanks jack appreciate the review

Raqiba Worthy: Super friendly and knowledgeable staff of both the products and the area. Will definitely shop with them again.

Clark Gaylord: Great selection especially for such a small shop. Georgian wines too!
Response: thank you for your compliment and your business .

Phillip Wiese: Nice store, the people friendly. I was staying at a nearby hotel and they threw in a nice corkscrew.

1 West Dupont Circle Wines & Liquors: what do users think?

Justin Blackford: I’ve made several purchases in a short period of time and this place processes and ships FAST. I’ve been very happy with the consistency. Items have always arrived well packed and in good shape. The prices are the prices. I have no complaints here. No one likes posting secondary prices, especially in the Bourbon market right now, but they are hardly out of line with competition. If you want a specific bottle, they’ve done a great job sourcing it, but be prepared to pay to market. My only complain is email customer service. I’ve sent a handful of notes asking questions and have only ever received one response. Disappointing. Not sure why there’s an email address listed if the company isn’t going to regularly respond. That aspect is likely going to affect whether I continue to make regular purchases.

Pat Man: Spare yourself the disappointment of doing business with 1 West Dupont Circle Wines and Liquors! Ordered a bottle Wigle PA Bourbon for a friend whom collects and seems to have everything but this one. Here's my experience thus far: -Paid for 2 day shipping, got here in 6 days with no tracking # ever sent -Paid for gift wrapping, item didn't get giftwrapped -Bottle labels in poor condition (pics attached) -Called about 4 days after the order, was connected to somebody working the counter at the store whom I could barely hear (poor connection) and whom took 4 or so minutes to "connect" so he could check my order. Was able to get a delivery date and tracking number, but when asked about the breach of two-day shipping, he stated he "did not deal with that" so.... -Sent an email to their "info" address basically recounting all this and with pics and have received no response. Very POOR customer experience. Do business with ANYONE else!

James Harris: Ordered 2 bottles online, and paid for 2 day shipping. 1 bottle was pretty expensive and I was a little worried about the packaging from the store. I was very happy today when I received my shipment. Both bottles were wrapped in a ton of bubble wrap and 1 was in a wine bottle type shipping container. You could have dropped this box from the top of a building without worry! I've seen complaints about pricing on rare and limited stuff, but honestly I don't mind paying more than retail for something I simply cannot find. My only concern is that it arrives in pristine condition and they delivered.

Karan Sinha: I bought a wine from here today, I have bought kinds of alcohol before however this time experience was horrible. I went home opened wine and I tried one sip and it was the worst wine ever. I went back without any expectations of having refund because these stores don't make wine. I went there to tell them to give review to the company. Instead of listening to me they started defending how I am not a type of person who would like this wine. They were being very defensive and I told them I am not here to ask for refund, I am here to give review the the wine company. Instead of listening to me they were defending of something they don't have any knowledge of. Please don't buy wines from here !

A: Scam. Do not shop here. They switch out the price stickers on your bottles when you’re not looking, no joke. They are scammers, don’t give them your business there are lots of other liquor stores in the area.

Haris Coussidis: Today when I went in, there were 3 men (am guessing staff) who were unmasked, eating on top of one of the counters, clearly thinking nothing of it. The larger gentleman, speaking loudly on the phone and blocking the way to the rum section, was arrogant and dismissive to put it politely. Whilst the two staff at the check out were fully masked and polite. Seriously dissapointed by this behaviour when DC law requires people to be masked at shared indoor places. I will not be coming back - unacceptable behaviour at the peak of a new wave of infections!

Daniil Kontsevoy: They sold me a bottle of Blanton’s online with a broken seal. However, they issued a partial refund because of that.

Khoi Nguyen: Great selection of beverages here. Wide open concept and everything is easy to find. Prices are reasonable

Reggie Elliott: They've got Mellow Corn for $17, that's all I need. 🤘🏿

Jenna Mace: The team at 1 West is always friendly and helpful. When making deliveries, they always call me if they hit traffic/expect to arrive later than originally estimated. They call if I order something they don't have, and always make great recommendations for replacements. When I order on minibar/drizly, I go out of my way to order from them. Thanks team!

Wide World of Wines: what do users think?

Paul: Fantastic selection!! A bit tucked away in the building so make sure you keep your eyes open when trying to visit.

Allen Clark: I've been buying wine at WWWines for over 20 years now (among several that I frequent), and it remains a top-notch wine shop. Great selection of great wines, including many fabulously expensive labels, but also always a nice sampling of well-selected bargains, especially from new producers. Best to sign up for their newsletter - sales are good, but the very best feature of the shop is the special tastings the put on in their basement warehouse area, typically each year a Spanish tasting and the best Champagne tasting you'll find, and often Argentine and Italian tastings as well.

Paul Marquardt: Smaller store kind of tucked away, but everything is well chosen and the staff is very good (especially Hugo, the owner). Worth getting on their tastings list if you want to learn more.

Mateo S: Great selection of wines from all over and good prices.

C J Wesby: Best wine store around! If they don't have it, you probably don't need it.

Lawrence BELL: Good selection not cgesp

Vins El Cep: (Translated by Google) Very good wines and very friendly. (Original) Molt bons vins i molt amables.

Cork & Fork LLC: what do users think?

R: I have been coming to this store pretty frequently ever since I moved to Logan Circle circa 2017. Cork and Fork establishment has a meticulous selection from many of the prominent old wine regions (From Chianti, Tuscany, Bordeaux, even Georgian) to the new regions from Chile, SA etc. Dominique (or end with c), Anna and Antoinette are subject matter experts in their wine domain. Dominique specializes in champagne in particular and Anna more in the aesthetics and overall structure of anything in the store. So they know their stuff fairly well and if you are someone who needs something within a certain price range of a certain body and age, be sure to ask and you shall receive. Over years, I have loved speaking to them in more detail about wine (considering I am more of a dilettante) and have always been rewarded by what they managed to pull out of shelf on every occasion. I think there was only one such rare occasion that I didn't like what was recommended and Anna later gave me another bottle free of cost which I remember to being decent compared to the former. So I highly recommend Cork and Fork for any wine enthusiasts of any level of matured palate and even if you are on a budget (there is a 4 bottles for $44 special, can't be beat even by the cheapest selection from Joes or Whole foods).

Katherine Koehler: Amazing wine store, love their wine club and events. So glad this is in my neighborhood!

Tony Joy: Wine stores can be intimidating places and indeed we avoided this place for ages on that basis until one day stepping inside on a lark. To our happy surprise, what we found was a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable unintimidating staff (it's family run) and -- best of all -- reasonable prices. We've bought all of our wine here ever since.

nick materese: A diverse & fantastic collection of wine that is well thought out. The family behind the shop hails from France by way of Provence, Champagne, Australia and Virginia wine country. In other words, they know their stuff and if you need bubbles or rosé this should be your first if not only stop! Don't miss out on their tastings and Masterclasses!

Art Adhatamsoontra: The only wine club that's worth your money. Their wine club combines the best aspects of wine: great tasting vino, great education and great people. The wines they send are always high quality, typically a mix of great classics and some rare/new wines to expand your palate. They also hold classes several times a week, which you can attend as part of the club (two tickets per month). Finally their customer service is top notch, both Dominique and Antoinette are very friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and very accommodating. Love their shop.

Judy -: Wine is nice but overpriced. Went into the shop with a friend to buy a lovely bottle of pinotage that was priced as $30 on the shelf, only to be charged $40 at the till. He was insistent it was $40 even though we both said it was $30. We couldn’t be bothered to fight about it and just paid for it (esp as there was a line behind us), but neither of us will come back.

Jacob Vineberg: We love this place. Antoinette and her family are super friendly and love explaining all about their favorite recommendations. Local mom and pop shop, staple of the Logan area. Our go to for all things wine.

Rachael Parry: What would 14th street be without Cork & Fork! A great family run business, Antoinette & Dominique are incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and welcoming to all. Highly recommend if you’re in search of a bottle for any occasion or reason.

Stephan Luck: Bought a bottle of wine that was very good. Turned out though that it was pretty much overpriced. Moreover, together the wine, I bought two glasses- 30$ each. When I came home, I figured they were already used and full of scratches. When I went to replace them the next day, the guy was extremely unfriendly- wanted me to wait five minutes to finish something on the phone. Altogether- pretty unpleasant. Won’t go back.

jeffery clark: Friendly service and an eclectic selection of wine from around the world, with mostly wine from small production wineries. Share with Ed your taste preferences, and he will fine the wine for you.

Vitis Fine Wines & Spirits: what do users think?

Scott Biggs: A small discovery of wonderful amazement. If you are a wine nerd or not , go see Vanessa and staff at Vitis. Thoughtful manicured selections from around the world makes it worth the stop every time. I absolutely adore this place.

Devon Cantwell-Chavez: Vitis Wines has an amazing and carefully curated selection of wines! The owner/manager, Vanessa, is incredibly helpful and helped me select a wonderful bottle of wine (a Chenin blanc from South Africa) to go with our salmon meal we had planned with some friends in the area. As someone with some wine knowledge, but not a tone, this was incredibly helpful advice to elevate my meals! They also carry a wonderful selection of women winemakers (like the Chenin blanc we got) as well as wine made/owned by Black and Latinx folks. Absolutely wonderful place— best way to spend your money in the Union Market!

Lib: I came here with my mom and sister who live out of town. When we walked in Chris (I asked for his name) was helping a white couple pick out wine. Once the couple left he sat down and started using a laptop. He didn’t look up once to ask us if we needed help. My sister asked him if he had a Merlot and he said ‘no’ and went back to working on his laptop and didn’t say anything else. As we walked out another white family walked in and he got up immediately and starting helping them. I then went back and asked for his name. I’ve experienced this in several places were staff don’t think (black ppl) we can afford expensive items/wines. It’s upsetting and I will never go back to this establishment.
Response: Hi Liberty, I am so sorry this was your experience. It is not the standard that Vitis holds itself to for service. I wanted to let you know a few steps that we are taking regarding the situation and how we are moving to better train staff. We are working on retraining with a focus on DE&I in regards to hospitality and service. We are putting together training modules focused on confronting implicit biases that staff have. My email is vanessa@vitisvinos.com and you are welcome to email me as well because we do want to make our community more inclusive as well. I truly do apologize.

Alex Lucas: What an amazing liquor store! Union Market is super cute and this is such an amazing wine bar. Vanessa is so knowledge and friendly! She helped us pick out an awesome rose that we could sit and enjoy. If you are able to I highly recommend you visiting Vitis, and make sure you talk to Vanessa about their incredible selection!

Manfred Phemister: Excellent selection and great service as usual. Love their spirit selection

Rose: The staff did not want to sell us wine and after inquiring about a certain type of wine he was rude and did not want to assist us further. Very disappointing!
Response: Rose, We're so sorry that your experience was not up to standards of Vitis. Our selection is a bit smaller, but we always want to make sure you find a bottle you may like even more. My email is vanessa@vitisvinos.com and we would love to extend an apology and ask if you would give us a second chance to show you our standards with service. If you send me an email, I can set you up with a special shopping code you can use in our store the next time you visit as a way to say we are sorry and would love to do better.

Suvdaa Ragchaabazar: I really like the way they display their wines, and so many different ones I havent seen before! Writing the prices and flavors on the bottles is really creative and fun. The guy explained things very well and was so nice!

John Carter: This is a great little wine and liquor shop in Union Market, they have an interesting selection and the people working there are very friendly and helpful!

Amie Seisay: Great selection of wine and whiskey but clean tasting disposable cups would be preferred versus reused glasses for tasting.

harish Ravi: Great collections and great advisers, picked up few bottles of wines and they are amazing !!!!!

Bell Wine & Spirits: what do users think?

Reina Pullen: Best wine shop! It has the best selection of wines and is very affordable. Keep up the good work and excellent service.

M B: This is absolute bad customer service in the evening. The staff is lazy and rude. Went to the store today. I was over charged $100.00.. For 2packs of cigarettes $20. Two beers $8. I was charged One hundred and twenty-seven dollars I was so upset. The purchase was at the most about $40. I will never go back there again. Then he slammed the window on me before I was finished talking. Rude and disrespectful. Like I did something wrong. The only thing I did wrong was to go to Bell's liquid. Never again.

Elisabeth Troyk: Good selection, nice owners. They know what they are selling (recommended great products). We had an issue with a bottle of wine and they happily exchanged it for us.

Ethan Pilot: Great selection of wine and spirits in a funny underground location. Liquor prices were low and staff was friendly, contrary to what I read in other reviews.

Loraine Burnett: They have hard to find wines

Lazarus Middleton: Love the customer service there and knowledge of the wine selections

Ryan G: Awesome, always pleasant and truly helpful. They don't gouge their prices like the surrounding stores

Shaun Farrell: Good Tastings and good wine! They have a nice selection of beers too!

Jeffrey Smith: Super rude, will not go there again.

Rohan Bhargava: Large selection of wines.

DCanter - A Wine Boutique: what do users think?

Sophie Osborn: DCanter is still my go-to-wine store in DC even though I moved across the city three years ago!! They have everything you could want: unique bottle selection, highly knowledgeable staff who always help you pick out the perfect bottle, a great range of price points and lots of affordable, delicious wines, and incredible education and tasting events! I’ve been introduced to so many neat and interesting varietals and styles through DCanter that I wouldn’t have had the confidence to pick out at a regular store. The website is also impeccably organized and they offer deliveries in the DMV area. They’ve been a wine lifeline for me during the pandemic and have helped me in my wine nerd journey!
Response: This means so much to us, Sophie. Thank you so much!

Matthew Radomski: DCanter is fantastic at all levels - Great wine, great store environment, and great owners and staff. My wife and I have been DCanter Concierge members since 2019 and we have never been disappointed. Thank you Michelle & Michael for all you do!
Response: You’re welcome, Matt! Your support means so much to us. Thank you for your kind words!

Austin Graff: My wife and I are HUGE fans of this wine shop. It's on the main strip in Barracks Row near the Eastern Market Metro. The owner takes wine seriously and presents his shop well and can recommend the perfect wine for you specifically. My wife and I came here right before our Croatia trip and they pointed out their best Croatian wine. On Sunday afternoons, they have free wine tastings in their tasting room. They also have an affordable wine club for Capital Hill residents.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words about DCanter! We look forward to seeing you both again soon at the wine boutique!

Nik Taylor: I love this place! They have an amazing website that makes it incredibly easy to browse and purchase bottles from home and then pick them up at the store. They also deliver throughout DC and NOVA (inside the Beltway). DCanter has a vast selection. The staff is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, warm, and welcoming. I thought I knew a lot about wine, but then I started shopping here, and they introduced me to SO much more. Cheers!
Response: Thanks so much, Nik!! We're so glad you love our shop and website. We enjoy helping you discover new wines! See you at the shop or online again soon!

John Schwab: "The difference between passable and excellent" ... how I would describe buying wine off the shelf at random somewhere else and coming to DCanter for a recommendation. Walked in, dinner menu in hand, and your staff immediately honed in on two choices. I picked one and it was the perfect complement. Thanks, guys!!!!
Response: You’re welcome, John! We’re so happy we could help. Please come back soon!

Beth Johnson: My favorite little neighborhood wine store! A nicely curated selection of wines, most of which are at a very affordable price point. Friendly staff and nice ambiance. If you're in the neighborhood (free delivery!), their Concierge service is awesome, too.
Response: Thank you so much, Beth, for your kind review! We're so happy to hear that you're enjoying the shop and the Concierge service!

Casey Welch: I have been a patron of DCanter since the day they opened, and I have fallen in love with this store and its staff. Not only do I regularly purchase wine in the store, but I have also been a member of it's Wine Concierge program since it's inception several years ago and have also attended wine tastings and classes in the store. The husband and wife owners, Michael and Michelle, are extremely knowledge about wine and are so friendly and welcoming. They are both regularly in the store and will often remember customers names and wine preferences - great personal touches! My wine concierge, Tess, is fantastic. She is very responsive via email and works with me each month to cater wines to my taste, budget, and changing preferences. Don't waste your time or money with those large, corporate-backed wine delivery programs. Each of those programs is a rip-off and pales in comparison to DCanter's Wine Concierge program. They offer free home delivery for six bottles or more, and they ACTUALLY cater to your tastes and preferences. You have a live person working with you each month to refine your wine profile. Each month is unique and has opened my eyes to so many new wines that I love! I also highly recommend the in-store classes. I have attended classes taught by co-owner Michael who is extremely knowledgeable about wine and very patient with simple and amateur questions that everyone is bound to ask. He makes wine approachable and easy to learn, and every class is just fun! The tastings are similarly informative and fun, but they are also free! Stop by every Saturday and Sunday afternoon for a treat - you won't regret it!
Response: Casey, thank you SO much for your kind words. We are so grateful to have customers like you to share in the fun experience of discovering wine! Thank you for your continued support of DCanter!

Sharon Jessup: We have been frequent customers of DCanter for years, and now especially this year! They have adapted to the change, made on-line shopping easy, including a chat function for recommendations. Love the classes and how we can resume in 2021.
Response: Sharon, thank you for being such a loyal customer. We appreciate your support!

Mallory Pound: Only a small section of affordable wine- the rest is overpriced. Nonetheless we liked supporting a local business so we shopped there regularly. When we tried to get a rain check on a wine tasting because my husband was sick, they stuck to their 48 hour cancellation policy. Not a great look for a local business trying to get support from locals.

Meaghan Brown: Small but well curated wine shop, with really friendly staff. There's a wall of exceptional picks for $15 and under, and regular tastings on the weekend. If you're local and drink wine regularly, they deliver and have a personal wine matching service called a wine concierge.
Response: Thanks for the review!!

Wardman Wines: what do users think?

Reid Dvorak: Awesome place, excellent staff, friendly and great local and choice adult beverages

Michelle Lynch: Eric and Lyndon were so delightful! This shop has everything you could need for a nice night in - pasta, cheese, charcuterie, crackers, wine, liquor, etc. They only carry the best, and we’re so excited to come back soon!

David Andrew Finkelstein: Excellent wine and beer store that has a great selection, is easy to browse, and the staff are super knowledgable.

T S: Unassuming little shop in Brookline near the Metro stop and Catholic U. with a great selection of wines, knowledgeable staff, and a neat set of online events as a result of the pandemic.

Edward Pollard: I was expecting more than a liquor store with a few grocery store quality wines.

Yesie P: The staff, the wine, the prices-- all great! Everyone is alwayswillibg to help, I was not great at picking out wines at first for myself, but they take their time and I’ve learned a lot. This is my go to, for sure! I find it a bit laughable that some give a wine specialty store a lower rating for having a limited selection of beer. I have seen them transition the selection seasonally with local crafts, a couple typical favorites, and some “give these ‘editor picks’ a try.” As a non-beer drinker, I can’t give an opinion.

Jenna Turner: A great variety of bourbon on hand with knowledgeable staff ready and willing to help. Often have rare or special bottles available as well. They also have a very good beer selection from across the country. I highly recommend this location.

J B: Good selection of wines. Decent selection of spirits. Atrocious beer selection and storage practices. All beer is stored hot which explains why you won't find premium offerings. Beers long past their prime are not removed and destroyed by staff. If you're looking for a year old NEIPA, this is your spot! Curiously, Sierra Nevada & Cigar City 12 packs are not available.

Jamison Moore: Solid wine store with a great, if small, beer selection and some fantastic spirits. The whiskey stock is limited, but has some stand outs, and prices aren't ridiculous. Wine tastings are well managed and bring in some interesting people.

Nathan Blodgett: Great selection of wines, beers and spirits! The owners have done a great job in stocking some exquisite wines while also offering highly affordable options. Great educated staff ready to make great recommendations based on our preferances and the meals we're serving family and friends.

Grand Cata: what do users think?

Katie Schultz: Latin wine-focused shop with a large selection of alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic drinks, food, and gifts. They have a fantastic monthly wine club and are always pouring free tastings of featured wines and holding fun events. A neighborhood gem with friendly staff...you can’t miss it!
Response: Gracias Katie! See you soon!

Shane Tews: My favorite place to buy wine in DC. They have unusual Latin based wines that are a nice treat away from the old world classics that flood the DC market. Go expo something new. The staff are very helpful and easy talk to about their passion.
Response: Gracias Shane! See you next time!

P Soriano: Good place but sadly the website for online ordering is confusing. Food options not available at get 7th street location. Wine and beer options online are hard to choose since I’m not familiar with the wines and there’s no description.
Response: Thank you for your feedback. We've been adapting to the current situation and working on improving our newly launched online store and attempting to integrate our two businesses in a way that is easy for our customers. We are more than happy to help you over the phone at Shaw or via email at La Cosecha. We of course value all feedback and will do our best to help you find what you need. Please take care, stay healthy and we hope to see you soon in person.

Michael Walsh: One of my favorite wine stores. I live in Leesburg, VA and still make the drive to this store. Their wines are not just from Latin America. They have a great selection from Spain too. And not just wines! After visiting Spain I fell in love with vermouth and Grand Cata has a great selection of them. They also have a limited selection of food to purchase. Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a wine club you can join. I highly recommend this place!
Response: (Translated by Google) Thank you Michael! See you soon friend! (Original) Gracias Michael! See you soon amigo!

Samantha Johnson: Excellent wine selection and the staff make exceptional recommendations. They've got something for all wallet sizes.
Response: Thank you Samantha! See you soon for more vino!

T S: Awesome selection of (predominantly Latin American) wines. You'll be able to find interesting and unique bottles. Knowledgeable and friendly staff will help with your picks and all-in-all a great addition to DC. Highly recommend.
Response: ¡Gracias! See you soon for more wines!

Jenny Jacobs: My fiancé and I don't live in the area but we walk the 2 miles every other week or so to buy some bottles. They have a great selection at every price point. The staff is so knowledgable, friendly, and you can tell they are passionate about their jobs--it makes me that much more excited to try whatever they recommend! I will continue to shout this store's praises to everyone I know, it deserves it!
Response: Thank you for your kind words and support! They mean everything to us! El gusto es nuestro. Take care and see you soon!

dipika: What a cool wine shop! As soon as I walked through the doors I was greeted by a couple people who were eager to give me a run down of all their wines - separated by European and American wines. Their choices are expansive but still understandable and they're so helpful with picking a fun choice. Their price range is probably $15 and up so this isn't a spot to come for a casual and easy wine, but you'll be very happy with what you get here.
Response: Thank you! Cheers!

Eric Heath: The perfect wine shop. Love the owners, love the staff, love the wine. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Response: Thank you for your kind words! We appreciate your support! See you soon!

Emily V: Lovely wine shop with a beautiful variety of South American wines, went to a tasting with some friends and it was well worth it. They even give you ten percent off on bottles you buy the same day if you schedule and pay for a tasting! We split the bill and it wound up being about 25 bucks a person. The tasting was amazing, he walked us through tasting steps, history of the wines, told us about the regions and vinters, and what kinds of flavors to look for. If you love vermouth, they also have an extensive selection! This shop has a bit more than just wine, so definitely take a look if you're in the neighborhood.
Response: Our pleasure Emily! See you next time!

Nido Wine Shop + Market: what do users think?

Alvaro Bedoya: This place is too good. The broccolini melt with mahon, manchego, and white bean purée was so good it was hard to explain. The smoked eggplant dip, same. The tortilla, you guessed it. Best part are the owners/staff, who treat you more like old friends than customers.

Emily McLeod: I asked the kind woman working the counter (I forgot to catch her name, but I’ll be back!) for a specific flavor profile of wine at a certain price point and she had an incredible recommendation! It was exactly the taste I was looking for. Next time I’m in I’ll pick up some of the incredible foodie items they had available. 5 star selection and service!

Jonathan Douglas: I don't usually leave reviews for places, but this one was so great that I thought I had to! Delicious sandwiches (I tried the eggplant one) and a great selection of fun Mediterranean items that are difficult to find elsewhere. If you're having a bit of a hard time finding it, you have to go up the stairs to find the entrance.

Georgia Lagoudas: Loved this shop! An eclectic mix of great wines, pasta, cheese, fresh bread, funny Italian canned things, and CHEESECAKE. Everything was great and service was lovely!

Alex Taylor: I happened by Nido one day visiting the restaurant next door and I'm back once a week since! Thea and Morgan have a charming shop with an excellently curated wine selection (lots of natural wines, many from boutique producers which you're unlikely to have tried before), outstanding gourmet ingredients I have difficulty finding elsewhere, and truly great prepared foods - including fresh bread (and focaccia!) baked daily. Even more, they carry my very favorite Olympia Provisions Loukanika sausage! Don't sleep on this one!

Brittany Hamelers: I just wolfed down a sandwich from here. The broccolini sandwich was a foodie delight. It was so much delicious gooey cheese. I loved that I could lie to myself and say it was healthy too!

Catherine Ward: Incredible fresh baked treats and breads, delicious Spanish tortilla, lovely wine and cheese selection, and fantastic customer service. This place is one of my favorites in the neighborhood - and broader DC!

Lauren Wolkoff: This place is such a gem! The thought and care behind all the inventory, the ridiculously friendly and enthusiastic customer service, the welcoming vibe… it all adds up to a “can’t miss” experience. I tell everyone to pop in at Nido when in the neighborhood.

Kirby Page: Great selection here and friendly and helpful staff! Love a small shop that packs a punch!

Kyle Schut: great selection, staff provided wonderful wine suggestion

Connecticut Ave Wine & Liquor: what do users think?

Not ur average Name: I found a couple Bottles of Macallan at a great price.. it was in stock as well and one of them has been pretty much out of stock at many places and those that did have it still, had an expensive mark up price!! So I was really skeptical when I found it on this website for an outstanding price!!! It was a “truly good deal to believe it” kind of thing.. so I ordered them and again I was skeptical that I was getting the real deal and not being scammed out of money! My shipment arrived Saturday (it had a few delays getting here however, it wasn’t this liquor store’s fault) so after the delays it was due to arrive today however, I was greeted with a great surprise and it was delivered This last Saturday when it was originally rescheduled to arrive.. I finally got around to opening the package to see if I had received the real deal.. as I held my breath while carefully opening the package, I was delighted to see 1 of the Macalla drink box.. I pulled it out to check it over and it was all in one piece. I minor dent but I can’t complain.. it wasn’t done during shipment as the shipping box was in great condition with no puncture wounds or dents. I checked the bottle over to make sure it was indeed a Macallan and that the seal wasn’t broken when it arrived so I knew I had the real thing. I wrapped it back up and put it back in the shipping box and grabbed the one I was really looking forward to that I really had a hard time finding in stock and not paying for it with my child’s life (exaggerating but you get my point regarding cost) and I pulled the box out and it indeed seemed to be the real thing.. the box is really pretty colour.. I pulled the bottle out of the box to inspect it, and the seal was intact and it was the real thing!!!! I’m extremely Ex static with my bargain finds and that it was exactly as advertised on this liquors website!!! The person I bought these for is a huge Macallan Fan… they will be so over the moon!!! Thank you Connecticut Ave Wine & Liquor for the great find and for them being the real deal!!! You will have made a grown person (not me) cry!!! I definitely highly recommend this business!!!

Hyun Kim: They have everything you need. If you don't see it, just ask for it. They will dig it out of their basement 😀

Ann Morse: My favorite wine shop for French wines and good advice. And always a great welcome!

Charles de Boisblanc: Nicer wine i bought was oxidized. It has a great selection. The wines are kept vertically, which is not ideal for storage.

Jaehaerys48 / ジェイ: Friendly staff, nice store. Picked up a nice inexpensive bottle of Argentine Malbec there, will go back again in the future. Definitely the best liquor store I've been to in DC.

Edward Grandi: The selection is substantial, the prices moderate, and the staff helpful.. what more you ask for.

Clifford White: Overpriced and when my card wouldnt swipe they REFUSED to manually enter it, even qith ID. RUDE and mistreating of their customers! I will NEVER go here again and HIGHLY recommend no one EVER giving these scum your business

Michael Lai: Your normal run of the mill liquor store. Does its purpose and has a good liquor beer selection. Not as good as P street liquor down the road...but good if you need a quick liquor store.

Pierre Delucy: Al is simply the best, most helpful and knowledgeable. Excellent rhum agricole selection too.

Jeff Franzen: Excellent service and inventory. Nice quick friendly and free delivery.

MacArthur Beverages: what do users think?

Chad David: Great selection of wine and spirits. Staff is friendly and helpful! They also host in store tastings too!
Response: Thank you for your kind words Sir! We appreciate your business, and look forward on serving you again.

Eric Imhoff: Great selection. I was able to order ahead and schedule a day for pick up. The staff was quick to pick up the phone and answer questions.

Conrad: Great selection of wines and knowledgeable, helpful folks so you can find what you are looking for without a hassle. Been going here for years and it is a consistently great experience!

A F: Excellent price and service! I ordered a special bottle of champagne for my anniversary- MacArthur Beverages had the best price in town, and delivered it free of charge less than 24 hours later. Friendly delivery driver who respected COVID safety protocol. Will definitely order from them again.

J Bourque: We just had a great online shopping experience with this company. I requested a clarification by email and got a prompt & pragmatic response. I placed the order and the correct bottles were delivered the same day with the correct message for the recipient. It sounds simple enough but many times things are not that smooth, starting with getting a an email reply.
Response: Glad we could help! Thank you for your business.

David W.: I like the layout of this neighborhood liquor store, with an excellent selection of wines. The store was able to source a favorite Russian River Pinot Noir I'd been unable to find in Virginia, where I live. Kudos for that!

JS: Excellent wine shop with deep collection of wines from great producers. Prices are also very reasonable and sales prices are great. Check out the Burgundies — several good values and more than one vintage available for several wines. Strong collection of Italian wines as well, especially Piedmont and Tuscany.

Kevin Kampschroer: MacArthur has some of the best selection of wine in the Washington area, and within the city of Washington probably is the best for variety and expert knowledge. Their online ordering is really smooth and they're good about contactless pickup.

Scott Heemann: An institution for DC wine. Home grown and local merchant all the way. And the vast selection and knowledge of many of their staff is out of this world. This is the kind of place where you can go and ask for a recommendation for a wine for almost anything and from anywhere in the world. Oh and the prices are very very reasonable too! They give the big box retailers like Total wine a good run for the money. And with added personalized service in a local neighborhood atmosphere to beat. Easy parking on the street within 2 blocks or so
Response: Thank you Mr. Heeman for your feedback! Your business is greatly appreciated.

Christopher Kuper: This spot used to be my go to. I’m not sure what happened, but in the past few months all of their new liquor additions have had their prices jacked way up past what they used to. Part of the reason I loved this spot was that they always seemed to have a unique selection and almost always had a sign that read “best price in the city!” That wasn’t a baseless boast either, it really was superb prices. Last couple times I went in the shelves weren’t nearly as well kept and the prices had risen significantly. Looks like I’ll have to find a new monthly spot. I’ve kept my original 5 star review below. ——————————————— Popped in on a lark. Thought I might find a decent scotch. This place has a modest collection, but boy has it been curated well. All of the usual suspects as well as rare and hard to find scotches, and I think they have the best scotch prices in the DMV, easily. The staff were awesome and talked to me about each rare selection. This is going to be my new monthly shop.
Response: See ya next month!

DVINES: what do users think?

Austin Graff: D'Vines is a small liquor shop in craft beer and wine shop in Columbia Heights. I've overlooked it for years until I tasted a sour from Texas' only Black-owned brewery called Weathered Souls at a craft beer festival. Turns out, D'Vines is the one of two shops in D.C. that carries their sours. I stopped in and sure enough- they had it! On top of that, they had a few other sour ales (my favorite) from craft breweries around the country. The prices are a little steep, but part of that is D.C.

Jack Nugent: Bought a growler here for my home brew kombucha, it was way cheaper than anything I could find online and the staff was very friendly. Will be coming back!

Adam Nothem: Great liquor store. They have a ton of options for a range of budgets and the beer growler machine is a true beauty. They also have tastings often. Stop in on a Friday evening and you might have the option to taste beers, whiskey, and wine all while grabbing a $9 sale growler to unwind with at home. Employees are very helpful and kind people.

Konrad Mugglestone: Quality beer and wine selection -- one of the best in the area. There are usually some specialty large format beers in there too. I've found the staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable as well. Sometimes the prices can be a little high, but nothing out of the ordinary for a central DC shop.

Dave Miller: A delightful boutique wine and spirits shop, with a fantastic selection for its size. The staff knows their stock well and are consistently attentive, in my experience. I live nearby and have been going here frequently since they first opened as a beer and wine store. They've expanded tremendously since then and now offer a great selection of whisky and other spirits as well.

Katy Swiere: Helpful and knowledgeable staff. But low rating because, in the midst of a pandemic and a DC mask mandate for indoor spaces, none of the staff were even attempting to wear masks. Really disheartening.

James Liska: I like this shop. It's close to the metro, so easy to hit up if you're coming back from work. They have some good growler offerings, with a standard selection of beer bombers and an above-average selection of six-packs. Service has usually been good - it's much improved over the past few years. The guys are friendly enough and are usually able to help you immediately if you have a question. I have gotten good service at the growler counter every time I've gone.

John Brisbane: Amazing selection of local beer and liquors. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Always get a great recommendation from this place for just about anything.

Kathryn Dreitzler: Okay spot if you need something in a hurry or enjoy beer. We just got engaged and went in for something to celebrate. I asked for something bubbly not to sweet and not to dry and they woman behind the counter noted that ‘bubbly things don’t come sweet’ and then proceeded to be on her phone the entire time we checked out. They lost out on a big potential order and I likely won’t come back for the pretentious staff.

Ryan Patch: Best wine / beer / liquor store I've found in DC. Great selection of "the good stuff". Prices are normal - not great but certainly not gouging. Not a great source of budget wine (if you're looking for that go to Trader Joe's). But if you like GOOD wine, liquor, and beer (including a great growler station) then this is your place.

Imperial Wine And Spirits: what do users think?

Eric Schonbachler: Great staff & a good selection. They offer fair prices on most items but expect to pay extra if you're looking for the more allocated/rare bottles. They have them, they'll just charge a lot for them (that's just the current market though, not their fault).

Darlene jackson: 8/27/21, visting from NY I decided to stop in looking for HENDRICKS GIN and to my surprise they had 3 selections 2 were specified as " Lunar & Orbium" The attendant commented that they come out once a year with the 2 selections and they go fast so I bought the 2 new selctions to take back to NY.

Brian Nelligan: Amazing selection and knowledgeable staff, great spot for whiskey and wine!

Marian Dvorak: This is our go-to best wine and liquor store! The staff is so nice and there is always a tasting which is fun. High recommend!!

yamina benkreira: The staff is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. They have a fantastic range of spirits and affordable prices.

Rob Villacres: Great wine and liquor store Personal and friendly service. So glad we popped in here. Enjoyed the wine on our rooftop at our hotel We’ll be back

Christie Wright: I walked in 10 minutes until closing and announced I needed to buy a whiskey and a cabernet sauvignon as gifts. The woman (Angie based on another review??) took the very few words I used describe what I was looking for in the price range I needed and found two amazing bottles for me. I can't speak to the whiskey (although I do know parent company and love it)...but I bought myself the same recommended cab as well...and it's exactly what I described that I like. And I think I made it out right at closing too! Truly a gem and bottle whisperer. Thank you!

Jasmin Hollywood: Such kind employees and unbelievable deals on fine wines and spirits.

--: Consistently impressed with this place. Their location is clean, well organized, the staff genuinely friendly, as well as very knowledgeable and helpful. Also, they have great deals. They have a clearance area and I was able to snag 2 bottles of Stoley that would have been $20 each, for $10, so I bought two. It's a standard liquor store, but perfectly executed. I never knew one could be so "nice" it's almost wholesome! Anyway great people and great establishment, and conveniently located right next to Metro Center. They are my go-to liquor store when departing the office.

Ethan Mathess: Very nice owners. Pretty good selection for downtown. They have a small amount of beer, as well has some bottled water and cans of pop.

Pearson's Wine and Spirits: what do users think?

Trent Coldstair: Was great back in the 80’s. Very popular. Now it isn’t any different than the other fleabag stores in the area.

michael nunziato: Found these guys online while searching for a very hard to find 2015 wine. Called them to make sure that they did indeed have the year I was looking for. From the moment I called they were polite and helpful. Ended up ordering a case since the price was so great. Delivery was super fast and perfect. Thanks again! PS will be making future orders.

Michael Williams Michaelwilliams: They were great to work with....ordering online was easy....they had the wines I was looking for...and when I picked up they brought it out to the car for me. It was my first time using Pearson's and I would use them again.

Princess CC: Calling from Italy to order wines was easy. They kindly supported me and preciously helped me. I would buy again.

Lerato Kale: New to the neighborhood and i must say, the selection of wines and liquor are amazing! The service is excellent and very friendly! I love this store

M: Excellent recommendations from the staff, great prices and strong selections!

Bita Motesharrei: My favorite wine store. Nicest staff and manager and great selection at great prices. They can get any wine for you if they don’t have it.
Response: Hi Bita, Thank you for your review. We work very hard to give all of our customers excellent service. Hope to see you again soon!

Donna Kennedy: I ordered three bottles of wine through their website, paid a premium for shipping - only to get the wrong year! It's is taking FOREVER to get this resolved. Totally their mistake, but I am out fifty bucks. Don't order from them. If you can't see it for yourself, don't take the chance. Terrible service!

YOUNG-i The GOD: Racist establishment! Walked into here to purchase some everlcear for some wholistic herbal extraction tincture. Seen a person I know walking into the store, we had some small talk, he was actually making a purchase, non alcoholic (ice). When I requested the everclear the lady told me in a very rude manner that she needs to see both our IDs?! I explained to the lady I have my ID but the purchase is for me and me alone and he has his own purchase. She begun to tell me she was going to deny the purchase because DC laws says groups must all show ID. How does one determine if we are a group or not? Does every person who walks in a store together consider themselves a group? When making a purchase for a individual would you inquire about someone’s else’s identification? I’ve held the door for people coming into The same store as me on many occasions; each time I did that was I establishing us as a group? The entire thing smelled like racism or classism. I even took it upon myself to stop at the next few spirit shops on Wisconsin Ave and they both agreed that was unethical. They also informed me Pearson’s has gone through a lot of changes in management and I’m not the first to have a issue like this with them. If it was racism ironically Africans created the distilling process! So to feel some type of way about two black men walking into a store selling products based upon a practice their ancestors perfected 1,000s of years ago is just ignorant. This why I mostly use vegetable Glycerine in my tinctures anyway 😂
Response: Hello, we are sorry you had a bad experience at our establishment. Your accusation that our establishment is racist and classist is both wrong and offensive. It was very clear from our staff and the security footage that you were both together and part of the same party. Therefore we were required by law to check both IDs, even if the alcohol was for you. Since the person you were with did not present identification, we could not sell to you. DC has very strict laws about this. Whatever opinion of the event you heard from other liquor stores, who did not witness the exchange you had with us, has nothing to do with the law. Finally, we have been under the same ownership and management for five years now and in our 86-year history have had two changes of ownership.

D.M. A.: Great selections of lesser known Italian wines!!! Great service too!

Irving Wine and Spirits: what do users think?

Rennie Meyers: Seconding all the great reviews — we’re lucky to have Irving Wine and Spirits in Mt. Pleasant! They punch above their weight for the size of the store, with a great variety and good price point. Beer selection always interesting, too, and covers some of the DMV brewers that are hard to find elsewhere.

Ana Fowler: I walked in and was immediately helped - the employee, personable and knowledgeable, directed me to the perfect wine for the occasion. I could not recommend this place more! An excellent Pinot noir to pair with pizza - will be back soon.

Logan Finucan: Echoing what has been said many times, they deserve the 5 star. Great selection of beer, spirits, and amari (for the latter, one of the best I have ever seen). Their wine selection is not massive, but way better than you have a right to expect in a place this size and very well curated with plenty of interesting options. Lots of great go-to's I pick up there, but always a new discovery, too. Helpful and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable and not far off what you would find if you went further afield to larger places. Can't emphasize the dog treats enough.

Chris Joyce: Favorite liquor store in the city, owners are always nice and welcoming.

Guillermo Beylis: Great selection of beers and spirits. Less great selection of wines, although good price/value point. You'll probably find what you're looking for. Great service

Chandler Richards: They always have a good selection and helpful employees :)

Niko Alexiou: Great selection, fair prices, Jessie is very knowledgeable

Pier LaFarge: Without question one of the best liquor stores in the city. The curated selection here is just amazing, at very good prices even for the rare stuff. Really stands out for stock of amaros, digestifs, shrubs, bitters and of course a wide ranging and unique shelf of whiskey, scotch, gin, rum and mezcal. Strong sake game, too. Friendly staff, knowledgeable and always fun. Biscuits for pups!

Amanda Clark: Jesse is the best and runs a great store. He has good stock, listens to requests, listens in general as a kind human, and remembers his customers.

Gabriel Anaya: Amazing liquor store. Everything was great. A huge variety of liquors. The best is the staff, they are really helpful. I will return to buy my tequila and mezcal.

Batch 13: what do users think?

Ryan Rieboldt: Big moves, happened upon Batch 13 on accident and loved the selection and display! Surprised how many various beer options were available as well as the tequila and bourbon choices. If I’m ever back in the area will absolutely stop by to see what other goodies I can snatch up. Cheers!

Jason Hubner: I wasn't a customer here but I dropped my wallet outside the store when I was on vacation. Someone turned it at Batch 13. David at Batch 13 went out of his way to find me on Facebook and make sure I got my wallet back. Absolute life saver! Can't comment on the products available, but the people working there are top notch! Thanks again David!

Dave: Best liquor store in DC. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Great selection with some rare finds I could not find anywhere else in NW.

Alessandro Pisi: The staff is amazing and the selection they have is wild I have found bottles that I never thought would be outside of their country of origin (scapegrace NZ) a little to over priced but worth it for the selection, would not suggest shopping for a party but more for your own personal collection

Alexander Timofeyev: The place to go for spirits and anything you'd need for cocktails. Every spirit I was looking for, they had it. The Guyana rum I haven't been able to find anywhere else, they had it. The Spanish vermouth I've been looking for, they had it. Huge selection of rums, whiskies, tequilas, and mezcals. Amaros, specialty liqueurs, syrups, and bitters - everything you'd need to make any cocktail. They also have a pretty decent selection of wines and beer. The prices are surprisingly reasonable. Oh, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and treat you like you're an old friend.

Madeline Guth: This is a great liquor store, with an excellent selection of wine, beer, and liquor without being too overwhelming. Would be a great place to come if you're looking for something specific, but also great if you're looking for something new to try. Staff is friendly and helpful but not overbearing if you just want to browse.

Patricia Pappan: My go to liquor store with the best selection. The employees are always very helpful and friendly. George ordered me a specific bottle I was having a hard time finding. Many thanks

Oliver Peña-Habib: One of the best selections in the city, for both wine and spirits. From awesome natural wines from Georgia (yes, the country Georgia) to fancy mezcal and chile liqueurs from Mexico — this is your 14th St go-to. Compared prices with other wine stores in the neighborhood and this was much better. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help.

Sturg E: Miguel was most helpful and patient while assisting us to find the right Mezcal. Thanks Miguel!!

olebirddog theroofer: Batch 13 owner was really weird and creepy towards me and I would not shop at this liquor store again. The long haired guy at the corner was really nice and helpful, but the two morbidly obese men were extremely creepy following me around the store and never taking their eyes off me. Stay away from the creepers at Batch 13. Look at the other reviews, as they all tell the same story over a long period of time--Batch 13 owners are totally creepy! Stay away!
