The Dorm - Young Adult Treatment, Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

G: The Dorm can’t provide care for the clients they already have but are continuing to admit a new client almost every day. They don’t offer the majority of things they say they do. Don’t expect to get any quality therapy - numerous groups are 13+ people, constantly being split and rejoined, therapists are overworked, and the whole situation is an utter mess. They pretend they care until your paperwork is signed and the cash starts rolling in, then they forget about you. On paper The Dorm looks incredible, but in actuality they don’t live up to any of the things they say they do. They charge as though they do! They will do whatever it takes to get as much money from you as possible.

Seth Carter: This place is amazing! They are so friendly and helpful. Their program is a mix of personal therapy, group therapy, addiction treatment, eating disorder management, and social interaction. Their location is in a very convenient location only a few blocks from the DuPont Circle metro station. The atmosphere is clean, modern, an has a lot of natural light. They have a kitchen, pool table, group room, conference room, and yoga room. The main hangout area has two couches, a few chairs, board games, and a smart tv. The staff is very kind and understanding yet willing to call you out on your bs.

Lois S: My daughter is showing much more regulation and improvement with the combined therapy and coaching. Really appreciate the level of communication and support for parents. Feeling hopeful.

Anon IlIlllII: Terrible place, don't waste your time or money. I was a client there in the past year and the majority of clients I spoke to did not find it to be helpful but rather were only there because their parents do not listen to them and assume that throwing money at a problem will fix it and that the value provided by the Dorm is related to the cost. It is not.

Therapy Group of DC: what do users think?

Ryan Scott: I would highly recommend the Therapy Group of DC for anyone looking for counseling or therapy in the DC area. I’ve known Brad Brenner, the founder of Therapy Group of DC , for years and is a valued colleague. Since 2003, he has been hard at work to create a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of issue or sexual orientation. They’ve created a particular expertise in working with GLBT clients. Yet, they have much to offer anyone interested in therapy, whether it be individual, couples / relationship, group, or testing interventions. One major benefit of going with a group practice like District Psychotherapy Associates is the opportunity to work with a range of therapists, increasing your chances for a good fit. Common issues experienced by clients who work with this practice include, anxiety, career issues, depression, couples and relationship challenges, premarital counseling, Brad is continually improving the quality of care he and his colleagues give to those who chose Therapy Group of DC . Highly Recommended! Carrie Port: The Doctors at The Therapy Group of DC are exceptional! If you are looking for an office of therapists who are understanding, knowledgeable, and have a wide range of expertise, I strongly recommend giving them a call. They genuinely care about their patients and work with individuals at any stage in one's life. They are warm, inviting, and really make you feel comfortable.

Linda Ritchie: It is without hesitation that I recommend the Therapy Group of DC. They are a unique set of therapists who are dedicated to making a difference in the community. They are sticklers for professionalism and only use evidence based treatment protocols that they can track for progress and results. If you seek help at Therapy Group of DC, you will get a therapist who will treat you with acceptance and compassion and will provide you with exactly what you need to grow and move forward in your life.

Lolo W: Experienced PhD level therapists ensure you are matched with the right person to help you achieve your goals. I have known and worked with Dr. Keith Clemson for a number of years. I am impressed with his skill and compassion in working with all clients, and special expertise with couples and LGBT matters.

Heather Lyons: I would highly recommend the psychologists and counselor/therapists at District Psychotherapy Associates. They are highly skilled in individual therapy, couples counseling, marriage counseling, career counseling and specifically work with the gay/lesbian/LGBT community. Very competent clinicians with a high level of integrity!

Bodhi Rader: The therapists here truly create change for their patients and do so through a fantastic experience. It is clear the practice is concerned about their patients, but beyond that their staff and local students studying/preparing for their PhD as well. If you are ready to solve the issues in your life, give the Therapy Group a chance.

Keith Miller: I consider District Psychotherapy Associates to be a highly trusted source of quality psychotherapy and testing services in DC. I've known Brad for years and appreciate his associate's attention to detail in working with clients that are referred. I think especially of DPA for anyone in need of career counseling or wanting to work with affirming and competent gay, lesibian, bisexual and transgender awareness (GLBT) as well as couples counseling.

Erik Conroy: Dr. Brad Brenner, the founder of Therapy Group of DC, and I have been colleagues for nearly 20 years. I’ve often consulted Dr. Brenner for career direction and advice, and his sincere, pragmatic and empathetic approach shines through both his own work, and the practice he established. Therapy Group of DC has a diverse group of therapists who work with a wide-variety of individuals, making therapy both accessible and impactful.

Ken Urie: If you're looking for relief from anxiety or depression or just want less conflict and more peace in your relationships--you'll find just what you're looking for at District Psychotherapy Associates. I've known Brad Brenner, the founder of this psychotherapy group, for years as a hightly respected colleague. I've been consistently impressed with Brad's innovatoin and dedication to developing the best environment to serve the people who turn to his practice for help. He's assembled a solid group of therapists with a primary focus on helping you feel better and create more fulfilling relationships. They provide couples counseling (including premarital counseling), individual therapy, career counseling and group therapy. Because the "right fit" for YOU is so important in the counseling relationship, Brad's group tailors their services specifically for you and your unique needs--with an emphasis on your strengths and resources. They also welcome and provide a safe and affirming expereince for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals and couples to create better lives and relationships. I really admire what Brad has created at his practice out of his genuine care for people. I highly recommend his counseling practice.

Amy Ellis: I strongly support and recommend Therapy Group of DC for individuals seeking warm and compassionate therapists with experience in relationships, depression, anxiety, plus many, many other arenas. Their therapists are adept at working with individuals from all races and social creeds, the GLBT community, and throughout one's lifespan.

Therapeutic Links Behavioral Health Services: what do users think?

Tammie D. Martin: Therapeutic Links Behavioral Health Services is a top-notch mental health practice. I have known the owner Florian Portis for many years, and she is an outstanding person, therapist, and leader. Her team provides evidenced-based therapy to diverse clients with compassion, understanding, and the highest ethical principles. If you or a loved one is struggling in any way, you will find the help you need here!

Andrea Dresser: Therapeutic Links Behavioral Health Services provides compassionate, quality care. Ms. Florian Portis is dedicated to quality care of clients as well as staff.

Katharine G: The entire scheduling process with Therapeutic Links was frustrating. I was not sent the Telehealth information for 3 intake appointments. Yes, I had to schedule 3 intake appointments due to incorrect recording of my contact information, rescheduling, and lack of sending me dial in details. The administrative team also rescheduled me with a different therapist than the one I had requested without communicating that change to me. I found their communication and scheduling to be careless and inappropriate, if not harmful for a mental health clinic.
Response: Thank you for this message. The main goal for our entire staff at Therapeutic Links is to provide a place of healing and hope for our community. Hearing and understanding ALL feedback guides us to help our community even more - and for that, we are truly grateful. It is disheartening to hear that you had a poor experience at our practice. I'm sorry about the understandable frustration that this can create. I will investigate this issue further and address accordingly.

Leigh Zamzow: My therapist has really helped me overcome my anxiety, I am so grateful to have found Therapeutic Links and finally feel like myself again!

DC Talk Therapy: what do users think?

Aaron Pearl: I’ve known David Sternberg and a number of the other therapists at DC Talk Therapy as colleagues for several years. They are all incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and empathic. I have and will continue to refer clients to the practice without any reservation.

Seeta Patel: If you have been considering starting therapy, I highly recommend DC Talk Therapy. I have truly enjoyed collaborating with the therapists here. They have all been very responsive, friendly, and genuinely care for their patients. I always hear patients speak very highly of their care with this group.
Response: We love getting reviews like this and we're so thankful to work with such terrific psychiatrists as Dr. Patel. Thank you!

Toni Salvatore: Worst “therapy” I have ever experienced. I worked with a therapist for about 9 months, meeting weekly. I felt like I got significantly worse while working with her, and therefore found it to be a huge waste of my time, money and energy. My experience involved the following: She persistently did not remember significant information about me. It often felt as though she was just waiting for the session to end and that she did not really care. It was difficult to talk to her about what I really needed to talk about, and it came off as her just not being interested in the subject. It felt like we were often just chatting instead of doing therapy. When I addressed this concern with her she said it was an important part of “rapport building” and told me I had an issue with small talk (which I don’t. I just don’t want to pay nearly $200/week to chat with somebody). Additionally, whenever I gave her real feedback or attempted to address my concerns with her, the response was that something was wrong with me and my perception. No lasting or meaningful change would ever occur. There were times when she would imply or explicitly ask something of me, to meet her needs, such as get her information that she needed for herself, unrelated to therapy, or have me meet her own emotional needs. On a positive note, the administrative staff were great. They were responsive, helpful, professional and quite pleasant to work with. Further, I brought my concerns to David, the owner and director and his response was genuine to address the issue. Albeit, to my knowledge this therapist still works there. Just be aware that unfortunately everyone with a counseling degree does not have the desire or ability to be an effective counselor. But you do not need to suffer because of that…
Response: Toni- I'm so sorry you had such a negative experience. I'd be happy to discuss your concerns. Please call our office at your earliest convenience.

Katherine O'Rourke: As a divorce attorney in the District of Columbia and Maryland, I have sent numerous clients to DC Talk Therapy to work through the conflict and struggle that comes from a contested divorce. After working with the therapists from DC Talk Therapy, my clients report feeling supported and grounded such that they are more easily capable of engaging in the difficult conversations surrounding pursuing a divorce.

Swati Divakarla: I'm a Psychiatrist in the DC area, and I've shared clients with several of the individual and couples therapists from DC Talk Therapy, many of whom have made considerable progress in the time we have worked together. I feel confident in the quality of services they provide to their clients, I find them to be skilled, empathic, and very responsive!

John: David and the therapists at DC Talk Therapy are some of the warmest, friendliest, and most empathetic group of people I have ever coordinated with. The patients we share in treatment together often remark to me about how pleased they have been with their care here, at how much they feel heard, understood, and encouraged to grow in a safe and healing environment. I am proud to call them colleagues and highly recommend them!

Bronwyn Clark: I'm an acupuncturist in DC, and learned about David Sternberg's practice, DC Talk Therapy, several years ago through a shared client. I was pleased to hear how comfortable my own patient was under David's on-going care, as she faced challenges relating to fertility. Since then I've referred a number of patients to his practice, especially when I see a need for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and hope to see clients free themselves from negative self-talk or beliefs that do not serve them. Clients have repeatedly reinforced that this is an excellent practice, and I highly recommend services offered at DC Talk Therapy.

Ashley Alderman Tucker: I saw David for years, and recommend him to everyone. He is patient and kind, and takes a genuine interest in helping his clients. With David’s guidance and encouragement, I was able to completely turn my life around. I also did a group with Barbara-who is also great. Going to DC Talk Therapy is the best-and most positive life changing-decision I’ve ever made.

Michael Schneider: The words that come to mind when I think of DC Talk Therapy are caring, compassionate, highly skilled, and responsive. I have known David Sternberg, the Founder and Director of the practice, for a number of years, and David's practice truly reflects his values and standards. So, if you are looking for help with challenges such as anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties or relationship problems, I highly recommend the therapists at DC Talk Therapy.

AJ Drobnick: David Sternberg and the therapists at DC Talk Therapy are excellent. As a psychiatrist in the area I regularly refer patients for talk therapy to this group and receive consistently positive feedback about their care. Several patients have made significant positive changes in their lives while in treatment at DC Talk therapy. I have found them to be particularly good in helping patients with mood and anxiety problems.

The Ross Center: what do users think?

lorie d: The Ross Center's Medical Director, Dr. Beth Salcedo is amazing! She is kind, compassionate, and takes time to understand the needs of her patients. She takes a holistic approach to treating anxiety which I have really appreciated. I highly recommend her!
Response: Thank you for your kind words!

Robert Scott: How can you get good adolescent care virtually when everyone can go to the movies, hair salons and all the other activities, but a simple in- person program or seeing a psychologist is off limits because of the excuse of a pandemic. Is the psychologist and therapist too good to not meet in-person when all of us are working back at work? We all need to be loud and tell our mental health professionals that we are not going to take virtual as an option anymore. This company just cares for the ole mighty dollar and they think that they can give adolescent mental health effectively virtually as our children keep falling apart. This is ridiculous and unprofessional.
Response: We are working on our reopening plan, being mindful of the various health needs and concerns of our staff while also following the guidance of our regulatory organizations such as APA. We hope to be able to offer in person treatment very soon.

Brianna Scott: Yikes! Leaving my review with the same thing I said in my e-mail: "Good afternoon, I just called the Ross Center and not sure who I spoke to but...it's clear that you all as a company do not want to help people. I called simply stating that I received a voicemail over the weekend, I was inquiring about being a new patient for medication management, and was just met with..."okay." I tried to give the person the benefit of the doubt but they clearly had an attitude. This is my first impression of this company so...despite the fact that maybe the doctors who work here might be good...I don't really want to deal with receptionists who are annoyed at the fact that their literal job is to get new patients signed up. It's already super hard to get mental health help, and it's also a lot to build up the courage to ask in the first place. Does this matter to any of you all? No. But, you all should be wise to train folks answering the phones to just treat people with respect. If the person was confused by what I was asking, they could have simply just said, "Yeah, we can help with that. Who exactly left you a voicemail over the weekend?" It's really that simple. Thank you and have a great rest of your week." It's probably going to be quite rough finding anyone in the city to help with medication management. But I'd kind of rather go without medication at all than being treated shittily by literally anyone in the healthcare system.
Response: This is certainly not the experience we want you to have, and not what we expect of our administrative staff. We apologize that you were treated this way. We will investigate this and deal with it immediately. If you have not yet been able to get an appointment with a different psychiatrist, feel free to leave a message for our medical director at 202-363-1010 x 114 and she will make sure your inquiry gets handled immediately and comfortably for you.

Rachel Wise: When my teenage daughter was experiencing some anxiety, I called the Ross Center and she was scheduled the next day for an evaluation. The entire process was smooth and efficient. The professionals on staff worked with us to figure out the best treatment options. My daughter had an extremely positive experience at The Ross Center. I highly recommend the Ross Center.

N A: I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Melissa Monson. She is extremely reliable and is the only psychiatrist I have ever felt like I got very comprehensive care from consistently. Ross Center is very expensive. I have been a patient off and on for many years, but I have never felt like I didn't get what I paid for here.

Sheryl Aaron: I've had the pleasure of collaborating with a number of therapists and psychiatrists at The Ross Center, and I have the utmost respect for their team. When referring clients to this practice, I know they'll get some of the most consistently skilled and compassionate treatment available in the D.C. area.

Jill Jacobs: Unprofessional, discriminatory, argumentative, and poorly informed. I tried to make an appointment here, and made it very clear that I am willing to pay cash -not use insurance at all - but was told that because my insurance is Tricare, they will not see me. Repeatedly I explained that I have no intention of using insurance nor filing with insurance after the fact, I simply want to get therapy and pay for it myself. In fact, I explained I would be willing to sign a document to that effect or write a letter and have it notarized declaring this. Regardless, I was told that they will NOT see any person who has Tricare, Medicaid, or Medicare, period... This place does not file or accept any kind of insurance at all; they only accept out of pocket payments. Yet they will not take my money, will not even tell me their fees because... Why...? I happen to have a past association association with the military...? This is not only discriminatory, but bad business practice, in general. I would give zero stars if I could.

Kiki Boots: Honestly feels like a scam. Our family has dealt with many, many clinicians over the years and this is the first time that, on intake, they told us there wouldn't be a good fit and to go elsewhere. And this is for pretty run-of-the-mill needs. I would avoid, unless you want to be charged hundreds of dollars for nothing.
Response: Hi there- We would be happy to discuss this with you and see if we can work something out. That does not sound right, and is not typically how we operate. Please give our medical director, Dr. Salcedo, a call at 202-363-1010 x 114 so you can set up a time to talk about this and we can make this right. Thank you.

Brad Brenner, Ph.D.: I've known Dr. Beth Salcedo for years and she's a warm, thoughtful expert. She and her colleauges at the Ross Center are some of best in the Washington DC.

Laura Webb: The Ross Center has been an extraordinary resource for me. Because of them, I’ve found exactly the right treatment to manage my anxiety, and I’m so grateful.

Field Trip Health: what do users think?

Renee Peres: Wow! Field Trip Health exceeded any and all expectations. While the experience in and of itself is wildly enlightening, it was absolutely shaped, enhanced and all around wonderful because of Charles, Tamia, and Shannon. The space itself is zen and tranquil even when located in the epicenter of DC. The moss walls were a nice welcome and the rooms are personalized and pretty, I want one of the lovely recliner chairs for myself :) Charles and Tamia are experienced professionals and also made me feel extremely comfortable. The process was smooth, communication was very clear, and I look forward to returning. I strongly recommend Field Trip Health.
Response: Hi Renee, thank you so much for your kind words and we are so happy to hear you had a wonderful experience with Charles, Tamia and Shannon. We are grateful for the trust you have placed in us and we look forward to working with you again!

Martha Bader: Incredible staff, space, and experience. The entire process was phenomenal and I highly recommend this protocol for anyone that is looking for extra support and guidance in tackling life with some more tools in their tool kit ;) I found this to be a safe space to further explore patterns. Thank you!
Response: Thank you Martha, we're delighted to hear you have new tools in your belt for tackling life! Thanks for sharing the photos of our space too — its uniqueness is hard to describe. Thank you for trusting us with your care.

Behavior Therapy Center of Greater Washington: what do users think?

Virginia Runko: As a psychologist, I always refer to BTC for anyone suffering from OCD (although I'm sure they're skilled in treating other disorders). They are highly specialized and trained in OCD. I even took a multi-week OCD training here with their clinicians which made me appreciate their expertise all the more. The BTC clinicians I had met, including Dr. Mansueto and Dr. Weintraub, were all wonderful in terms of interpersonal skills - warm, good listeners, etc. I believe they have ongoing group meetings to consult with each other on various cases which I think is great for patient care. I often rave about them to my clients and figured it was high time I rave about them publicly to anyone who might find this helpful!
Response: Thanks for your kind feedback, Dr. Runko. It was our pleasure meeting you and having you join our meetings.

Malik Saab: I don't know a better place for treating OCD patients in the DC Metropolitan area and I have done research on this! They use ERP very effectively, which is the only proven therapy method that works for OCD I believe.

James Long: I really appreciate BTC. They are very thorough and care about the people they work with. Very high regards.
Response: Thanks for your feedback. We place a strong emphasis on providing a quality experience and that our clients feel valued and cared for.

Andrew Stobie: This is a great therapy place but the office itself is not great.Update: I felt I should update this. The physical offices did improve over the time that I was visiting there!
Response: Thank you for this valuable feedback. While we are continuing to conduct therapy services through telehealth during the pandemic, we are working on continuing to improve the aesthetics of our physical space for when we return to the office.

Tiara Fennell: If it were possible, I would give 10 stars! Ieisha Dale is a phenomenal therapist and a great addition to the Thriveworks team. As a former colleague, her strengths lie in her ability to assess and track sequences, her open and non-judgemental approach with her clients and overall investment in her clients improvement. Anyone who works with her, as a client or colleague, will have the opportunity to see these strengths and more at Thriveworks.
Response: Tiara, your kind words about Ieisha are much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful comment!

Taylor Pettway: I’m so excited that Ieisha Dale will be joining the team at Thriveworks! As a former co-therapist and colleague, Ieisha brings her curiosity, authenticity, and systemic lens to every team and to every client. Her attention to cultural concerns and her ability to build resources and relationships provides a holistic support for individuals, children, and families. With her thoroughness and professionalism at the helm, she provides tangible opportunities for change and a validating experience for all in her sphere of influence.
Response: Taylor, thank you so much for the kind words and recommendation about Ieisha. We truly appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review!

Sarah M: After having worked with multiple counselors over the past two years, and struggling to find a good fit, I am so pleased to be working with the highly regarded Dr. Regina Lawson. Dr. Lawson is not only a brilliant clinician, but also a thoughtful listener and counselor. In particular, I appreciate Dr. Lawson's expertise in providing tools and expert insight to ensure that our sessions are productive, and that after a session I walk away knowing I have tools in my arsenal to ensure success. I have found that many counselors serve as listeners, but do not help navigate or provide the necessary tools to facilitate continued personal development. Dr. Lawson is also thoughtful and kind, but cares about the progress of her clients towards their personal goals, something I value a lot. Dr. Lawson offers both counseling to address mental health and career support. I am endlessly grateful for the work we have done so far over the past 6 months, and look forward to learning new tools to continue on my journey if self growth. Additionally, Thriveworks provides an essential and easily accessible counseling service for the D.C. metro area, which is particularly critical in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. They offer a range of accessible tele-counceling services that allow me to continue receiving services remotely.
Response: Hi Sarah, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review! We absolutely agree with you, Regina is fantastic.

Tanya Vasunia: I give five stars to Nitika Gupta, a highly skilled therapist. I know her in the capacity of colleague and have found her knowledge and insight invaluable to my practice. Nitika is a dedicated and well-informed therapist who brings compassion and mindfulness into each of her sessions. Her eclectic approach allows her to expertly navigate therapy session while being sensitive and informative. Nitika has the ability to navigate cultural nuances and complex issues such as race and gender with the compassion and patience it deserves. I highly recommend seeking her expertise.
Response: Hi Tanya, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review! We absolutely agree with you, Nitika is fantastic.

Romanus07: Just wanted to leave this review for Brandan Vazquez. He’s good at what he does and an easy person to talk to. I’ve been through 3 therapists in the past 2 years (mostly due to the pandemic) and I can finally say I’ ve found one that really understand my situation and background , highly recommend!! Especially any black males looking for someone who looks like them and can relate.
Response: Hey there, your kind words about Brandan are much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful comment!

District Speech and Language Therapy: what do users think?

Sarah Parker: My 3 year old son started at District Speech about 18 months ago to address his language delay. Both of the therapists he worked with, first Anna Carr and then Lee Morra, were excellent. Once he started catching up on language, Lee began addressing his speech delay. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave me great tips and tools to practice with my son at home. My son absolutely loved going to every biweekly session he had with both Anna and Lee, and they both made it a very play-based approach. I was so proud and grateful when his latest assessment showed that he is now hitting all his age appropriate milestones for both speech and language! I also want to call out Katie Nelson, the Operations Manager, who does an amazing job managing all the billing and scheduling. She was always extremely helpful and responsive to all my billing questions and was very responsive and detail-oriented. Thank you District Speech!

Teresa Teresa: Lee Morra at District Speech and Language is a wonderful and effective speech therapist. He gave me the tools, guidance, and encouragement to speak better. Lee taught me speech exercises so I can practice saying and using words and phrases I commonly use. He taught me techniques to organize my thoughts and talking points for meetings and conversations. He taught me that even though I have a cognitive impairment and problems with memory loss, I can speak coherently. Once I started using these techniques, I started getting better results in meetings, with customer service, and at appointments! The speech improvements I have made using the tools and techniques Lee gave me have given me the confidence to start and join conversations again! Now, I am not as worried about forgetting what I am talking about mid-sentence as I was before speech therapy. The real proof of speech progress came when my primary care physician told me I was more organized, more to the point, and better spoken than I have been in almost a year. I replied "speech therapy!" My doctor and I are happy I have access to resources such as District Speech and Language and Lee to help me. Thank you , Lee!

Evelyn Taylor: I went to district speech for transgender voice therapy and district speech set me up with my instructor Sophie Edwards. I had a great time learning from Sophie and feel more confident and knowledgeable in speaking with a more feminine voice. I would recommend her to any trans girl looking to feminize their voice.
Response: It was an absolute pleasure working with you Evelyn! So glad we could help in your transgender voice therapy journey -Sophie

Eva Herrada: I would really recommend Sophie Edwards at district speech for anyone trying to feminize their voice. She was a massive help to me and after a few sessions I had results that I was very happy with. She gave me exercises that really helped with my goals for my voice and gave me feedback that made it much easier to learn. I had tried other resources but having someone giving me feedback on what I was doing right and wrong made a huge difference.
Response: It was a pleasure working with you Eva! You know where to find me if you need anything :) - Sophie

Shawn Domagal-Goldman: Our 8 year old daughter was very behind on her ability to speak clearly. It had gotten to the point where it was getting in the way of her academic progress - making her less likely to speak up in class, and very reticent to write things out because of the misspellings associated with her pronunciation. District Speech and Language Therapy - and Ms. Catherine in particular - were AMAZING. It turned our daughter's lessons effectively into play-time for her, which made sure she showed up and actively engaged each week. And that was part of an overall plan for her progress that was solid. That has resulted in tremendous progress in mere months, to the point where she is an avid reader/writer now and is now close to her peers on her ability to enunciate words. I can't give this place a strong enough recommendation. Sound overall strategies for success and incredibly effective tactics with the kids at the lesson-by-lesson level. Its totally turned things around for us in the best way possible!

Joyce Yu: My 6 year old son has been working with both Jen and Lee, and the experience has been positive, fun, and rewarding. Both Jen and Lee are so patient with my child- taking time to bond with him on a personal level, and being on top of his progress/ practice/ homework/ evaluations. They both demonstrate knowledge, professionalism and kindness toward a child in need and made him feel it's "cool" to be working on articulations, instead of working on a shortcoming. As a parent, I cannot praise more about the professionals we have been working with, and we are very happy to see the tremendous progress after just a year of therapy. We are lucky to have met Jen and Lee!

A. L.: I had the pleasure working on my expressive disorder in a virtual setting with Lee. He is very personable and knowledgeable and has helped me with organizing my thoughts to overcome this problem. Also, Katie was super helpful in scheduling me for an immediate appointment with a therapist. I highly recommend anyone looking for professional and prompt service to this center!

Wade Duvall: I worked with Lee Morra to help with my fluency and mumbling. Lee was very clear in explaining the kind of improvements I could expect and where we could make the most improvements. With my clarity, I started to see meaningful improvement after the first few sessions, and major improvements by the end of therapy. The most important skills were learning how to properly emphasize sentences, something I previously gave almost no thought to, and recognizing when I was mumbling and how to break out of it. I've had several people tell me they could tell the difference. Lee also helped me work on my fluency. Since I have a working memory deficiency, I knew it would never be perfect, but I was able to make some pretty big strides. I especially wanted to make progress with speaking in work situations. Using a variety of techniques, I was able to dramatically improve my disfluencies, especially mazes. I've had a significant improvement in how my work meetings go and I feel more confident when speaking. I would highly recommend Lee Morra if you're looking for a SLP!

Laura Reilly: My son is 18 and a mumbler - he also has an accent (he's a native Spanish speaker). He is frustrated that teachers, friends, etc. are always asking him to repeat himself. With college on the horizon, we decided it was time to try speech therapy. We could not be happier with Lee Morra at District Speech and Language Therapy. Lee is an amazing speech therapist - he is so good and so passionate about helping my son speak more clearly. My son enjoys his sessions and is actively practicing what he learns with Lee each week. Lee has been awesome at dealing with schedule changes and mistakes on our end - and we are now doing virtual sessions which makes meeting up with Lee even easier. Lee and the admin team helped us deal with insurance issues too. I highly recommend District Speech and especially Lee Morra.

Claire Rutledge: Sophie was very good at helping me gain control of my voice. Our lessons were organic but always honed in on what I needed to work on. In a few short classes I finally gained access to the voice that felt natural to me and allowed me to express myself fully.
Response: So glad I could help Claire! All the best - Sophie

Dr. Rebecca Resnik: I have referred to both Dr. Julie Bindeman and Nancy Brown for years. Julie is a nationally recognized expert on Reproductive Psychology who publishes on the subject and trains other doctors. Julie is also exceptionally compassionate in her work. Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation: what do users think?

Meredith McGoings: I came to Lucia at Star Rehabitation and Spirts in January with excruciating left knee pain. She messaged and gave me exercises to do daily. My ability to walk without pain improved quite a bit. Now I am pain free and walking without a cane. I highly recommend Lucia Lee as a very knowledgeable physical therapist.Meredith M.
Response: We really appreciate your vocal support in so many ways. Thank you!

Nick Rajpara: Dr. Lucia Lee is extremely welcoming and a great explainer of what is happening with your ailments. She is friendly and focused on helping her patients. The best physical therapist I have had so far.
Response: Thank you for taking time out of your day to leave feedback. We appreciate your business!

Mariam Mehter: Lucia does such a great job working with me on my various issues and takes the time to patiently answer my questions. Unfortunately I'm always reinjuring myself but hoping she doesn't get too fed up with me!
Response: It’s great to hear you had a five-star experience. All of us at STAR appreciate your business and positive feedback!

Mike Wheeler: Everyone I spoke with was incredibly kind and helpful. Dr. Lee is such an expert and helped me comfortably and thoroughly navigate the issue I was having. Couldn't recommend more highly!
Response: We are glad you had a good experience! Thank you for the review!!!

Jura: This place is fabulous. As a customer of Sports Therapy and Rehab before the pandemic, I was skeptical about switching to online Physical Therapy for my shoulder. Kathy Braun is amazing and she is so skilled at therapy that she can immediately give you feedback as you are doing the exercises she demonstrates for you. I get huge rewards from my weekly online sessions with her. Kathy has a staff of amazing therapists and a very thorough and dedicated staff that keep everything operating smoothly. Everyone you encounter is upbeat and focused on getting you better safely. I highly recommend them.
Response: Yes, TeleRehab has been a fabulous new treatment option! Patients get visual feedback of themselves and we are able to solve movement problems right in people's homes!

Joseph Bracewell: I had shoulder replacement surgery in mid-January and started physical therapy with Allison Evron around the end of February. I have been seeing her 1-2 times a week for 14 weeks now, including two months when we had "virtual" sessions during the COVID-19 shutdown. I have been extremely happy with the progress we've made. My strength and range of motion are steadily improving, and I have been able to get back to my sports-love (rowing) both indoors and out on the water. Allison is very knowledgeable, and I would recommend her highly. The entire staff at STAR are friendly and efficient, appointments run on time, etc.
Response: Glad the transition to TeleRehab worked well for you! It is an amazing format. Allison is great at getting people back to sports. Congratulations on your return to rowing!

Douglas Lister: Kathy Braun was wonderfully perceptive and through beyond my expectations in evaluating my condition and providing initial direction.
Response: Thanks so much for sharing your experience with Kathy, it truly means a lot!

Pouneh Dadmanesh: Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation (STAR) offers and delivers great personalized physical therapy services. STAR has truly amazing staff members and excellent physical therapists. I would like to thank Katherine Braun, Jesse Fuller, Allison Evron, Lucia Lee, Natasha Harper, and Hope! In my view, STAR is the best physical therapy center in the Washington D.C. area. Kathy is truly exceptional; she is the best and most compassionate physical therapist I have ever worked with. I have been at STAR many times in the past three years. More specifically, I have been there for torn rotator cuff, chronic neck pain, sciatica, and pelvis injuries. Tissue massage, stretching, strengthening, joint mobilization/stabilization, and athletic taping have been among the treatments I have received at STAR. The physical therapy sessions have been very effective. Kathy has helped me recover from sciatic problems and strengthen the muscles and ligaments in my shoulder and improve my range of motion significantly. Kathy has also taught me proper techniques that I can use regularly at home to manage and alleviate the pain associated with my injuries, words are not enough to express my gratitude. I have also been working with Jesse on core strengthening and mobility. He has created a good and unique workout routine for me. Jesse is a very knowledgeable personal trainer; I highly recommend him.
Response: It has been a pleasure working with such a motivated person that conqueors her challenges!

Malachy OConnor: I am very impressed by the service Natasha Harper provided me. She was helpful, resourceful, and courteous while working through the resolution of a refund I was seeking. I could not have solved this without her. I appreciate her "stick to" in getting the job done. Thank you, Natasha Sincerely, Rose OConnor
Response: I agree that she is super skilled at insurance problems. We are here to help you make this rehab and recovery process easier from all sides!

Andrew Bird: STAR’s commitment to quality of care, attention to detail, and the depth of knowledge and experience from similar procedures/patients is a critical part to my great rehab from shoulder surgery. Did my homework and toured several PT offices prior to surgery back in March. Allison Evron at STAR was my top choice and I am so pleased with her contribution to my progress. What impresses me most about Allison is her keen awareness, intuition, and active participation in my rehabilitation process. She always takes time to listen to my immediate concerns and I think she grasped my long-term recovery and skiing related performance goals before even I did. She knows when to push in exercises, does not hesitate to correct poor form, and recognizes pain thresholds just from my facial expressions. This level of care alone is worth a 5-star rating, but I’d also note our seamless transition to telehealth appointments during DC “stay at home” without losing momentum was awesome. Very motivating experience. I highly recommend STAR, and particularly Allison for all physical therapy care. They have restored my faith in dedicated physical therapists. That is a monumental achievement after an awful experience elsewhere where I felt like a meat pile on a Chicken McNuggets assembly line.
Response: Andrew, Thanks for sharing your positive experience with others! Allison is awesome and I know she didn’t want you to lose your recovery momentum! She is great at TeleRehab too.
