Barb Z: I would give a zero if that were possible. Dr Jay Rhee not only lacks "bedside manner", he is completely devoid of manners, professionalism, or a willingness to communicate with his patients, who he treats with something bordering on contempt. He responds to questions with the defiant arrogance of someone who is protecting a sub standard skill set. Completely unacceptable.

GW Spine & Pain Center, Dr. May L. Chin, MD: what do users think?

Sinic Staton: Strong armed robbery at it's best, is there anyone out there that can help with a Class Action lawsuit against this place?! After 4 months of being given the run around, I've finally been told that even though they are the people that made the mistake in billing a Non insured Dr. to perform my Insured procedure that I would be held responsible for their mistake. Again, I did the research and found the Pain Management department took my Cigna Connect insurance and called them to set up an appointment, they matched me with a Doctor and I was seen and then the procedure was done several weeks later I was then I was informed that the Dr's didn't take my insurance. Again, did my due diligence in making sure I was doing business with the right people, whoever they had working the front desk decided to match me up with a Dr. that didn't take this insurance, why was there no care in making sure that my insurance (which pays for my health care so I can afford it) was fully accepted or why was I not informed that this provider was our of network and that I had a choice to either have the procedure done or not. This is clearly a case of strong armed robbery, apparently they do this all day long, they will contract a debt and then say its your fault they matched you with a doctor that was out of plan and "You should know your coverage" this is their go to line when they do this. Again, Please help with a class action suite this needs to stop! coincidentally this is the same hospital my Father died at in 2000!

frank swyca: I was referred to this practice because the Pain Management practice I have been treated by for last 9 months is moving to MD and my insurance is DC Medicaid. This is my second bad experience with GWU MFA. GW Spine & Pain Center were very specific as to what they needed pre-consultation. I provided referral, last 3 appointment notes, treatment plan including prescribed medication for plan, MRI imaging and reports. They had all of this information a week before appointment. I specifically asked if I would continue with my plan and was told it would be determined at consultation. I was okay with that. What I'm not okay with is learning that the doctor had no intention at all of continuing with my plan and she specifically and definitely said that the medication and pain management I am on is something she does not do for ANY of her patients. That is fine but knowing and having records of my plan it should have been stated to me before having me take time and resources and taking an appointment to bill insurance having no intention of continuing to help me in the way that is working for me. Suggesting treatment options that I have already tried that don't work. I made it clear that I was unhappy about that tactic, more so than how they choose to treat. She tried to say it was case by case but I reminded her that she just told me she doesn't treat how I'm being treated EVER so it's not case by case and not appropriate to waste a patient's time and resources. She conceded the point and said that she would talk with administration. So wasted my time, got their money. I don't recommend this practice.

Ann Walker Marchant: Dr. Chin changed my life when I was suffering from severe and debilitating back pain. I had been prescribed every pain medicine available and the only thing that was doing was making me sick -- extremely nauseated and unable to work. I was recommended to Dr. Chin and she immediately identified the correct combination of treatment that treated my exact pain in a targeted manner. The opioids were making me ill. She identified the treatment that allowed me to sleep for the first time in 8 weeks through the night in my bed. Dr. Chin is warm, friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. I would highly recommend her.

Maurice Dix: She is very cold, you are truly better off not going at all. You will not leave her feeling cared for or about.

Jamshidi Saied MD: what do users think?

joan smith: Dr. Jamshidi is an awesome doctor that is honest and really cares about his patients. It's not all about money with him. I love him and adore him.

Maria Williams: Dr. Jamshidi performed emergency back surgery on me in 1994 and neck surgery in 2014, both with excellent results. I continue to refer friends and family to him because he continues to educate himself on new procedures and techniques to use, and has many Neurosurgeon certifications to prove it. In the past, it has been frustrating to wait to be seen by him, sometimes over an hour, until I realized that when it is my turn to see him, I am not rushed, I am able to ask as many questions as I need to, and he thoroughly explains what is going on with you, using diagrams, etc. I have never had a doctor take the time to explain things better and make recommendations. So I began to be more patient. What doctor do you know that gives you the tools and exercises you need to prevent you from having to have another back surgery. Most doctors want to do another surgery to make the money. When I have back pain that prevents me from functioning normally, I follow the instructions he gave me many years ago, to walk in the pool and take an hour and a half bath (at a minimum) in Epson salt. I use to take a 30 minute bath and felt no better. It wasn't until I stayed in the tub for an hour and a half or two (like he told me to) that I feel like a new women. This week during my office visit, a man discussed the brain surgery he had in 2002 and the fact that although he has to take seizure medicine, he has never had a seizure since his surgery. The lady he was talking to had back surgery 4 months ago, and jumped out of her chair as if she was 20 years old. I listen to his other patience in the waiting room as they discuss their surgery's and know that we are all very blessed to have Dr. Jamshidi as our surgeon.

Edith Adams: I've been with Dr Jamshidi for over 20 years. I find him to be a very good and caring Dr who truly cares about his patients. He is the one Dr I trust to tell me the truth. He takes time with each patient and will explain different options of procedures as opposed to other Drs who seem to only care about performing doing unnecessary surgeries. He's patient, and give you information and time to decide which is the better option for you. He's the kindest Dr I've ever met when you compare the Drs now a days who rush you in and out and force unnecessary medicines on you to make money. As long as he's there, I will always go to him.

Arya Javdan: Hello dr.Jamshidi, My name is ARYA JAVDAN i am one Iranian student of General medicine at the University of Bologan Italy , would like to ask some information I would like to continue my study in Neurosurgery but i am still in doubt between the United states and England which I in other words choose which of these two countries is the best for specialization in Neurosurgery you that have a lot exprience in this area could help me to remove this doubt and say that really the difference between the United states and England for this type of specialization and the difference in the method of teaching in these two countries ? Thank you very much . Best regards . ARYA JAVDAN .

Ms. SDS: This doctor performed back surgery on my mother back in 1997 and today her back is a MESS!! This doctor disappeared and now i see he's back, he used to be at greater southeast hospital where he performed her surgery. I am very upset that he is still in business!!

Ash Assefnia: Excellent Doctor , I used to go to Doctor Jamshidi many yrs ago , very humble , knowledgeable and good-hearted man. He saved me from some other horrible doctors in the area !.

Dr. Kevin Michael McGrail, MD: what do users think?

Mimi Dinh: Dr. McGrail is the very nice and caring doctor I've ever had for spine surgery. After the surgery, he's called and asked how I was doing when other places you only hear back from the nurse, not your doctor. I'm thankful to be under the care of Dr. McGrail at MedStar Georgetown hospital. I highly recommend Dr. McGrail to anyone for herniated disk surgery.

Kristen Lilley: Dr. Mc. McGrail and his staff, especially his PA Grace are professional, personable and available any time I had questions or concerns. I appreciate their attention and the care I received. Thank you!

Stephen Van Eynde: I am looking forward to meeting with Dr McGrail again, as I believe that his skills will be very helpful for me to move forward with what is required. Besides he and his associates are very professional

Antoin Hodges: I went to Dr. McGrail for a lumbar disc setting on my nerve that was causing extreme pain in my lower back and traveling down my left leg to my calf. The moment I spoke to him I KNEW I was in good hands. Dr. McGrail understood my pain and assured me that I would be well taken care of right away. The next week he "added" me into his schedule and performed the surgery. The surgery was a absolute success, which I had no doubt about due to his reassurance and professionalism. Dr. McGrail also have a awesome team of staff that works with him that helped. They all made me feel extremely important and most of all, comfortable as if I was home. I want to thank you all for taking me out of the such miserable pain I was in. Dr. McGrail is an AMAZING doctor!!! With doctors and staff at Georgetown hospital such as Dr. McGrail and his team, I learned why it's #1.

Marty & Cindy Emery: Dr. McGrail saved my wife's life in 1995 by removing a very complex AVM in her brain. He also has performed surgery on my lumbar spine to relieve issues relating to congenital defects in my spine. He is an amazing and talented neurosurgeon and also an extremely caring human being. He is recognized as a top neuro surgeon, year after year, for good reason. He is simply the best.

Tia Watson: Dr. McGrail is absolutely wonderful. He performed my surgery to clip/wrap 3 aneurysms in 2009... I tried to worry for a second about the dangers and he wasn't with it at all. I was totally at ease and woke up in postoperative ICU with a huge smile. I am very grateful to, and appreciative of, the entire Neurological staff at Georgetown.

National Capital Neurosurgery: what do users think?

Richard Hayman: I met Dr. Levine in 2000. He has operated on me twice and twice on my wife. I found Dr. Levine to be very friendly and caring with great skills. Dr. Levine teamed up with Dr. Rhee to perform a 9 level spinal fusion. My life is very normal now. I replaced golfing with walking. Many friends have taken my recommendations for NCN and have been very happy with both their care and results.
Response: Thank you so much for the kind words... We try to treat our patients like members our family.

Bobbie Kaminsky: I strongly believe that I wouldn't have been able to find relief for my severe back pain if I hadn't followed up on a referral from a medical professional to see Dr, Rhee for evaluation and treatment. Pain has been significantly less, and will continue to improve as time goes on. I'm grateful for his compassion and humanity and for his correct diagnoses and surgical acumen.

Angela Luvara: If I could give Dr. Rhee zero stars, I would. I drive four hours round trip to be told that my pain, which presents exactly as nerve pain does, is not caused by my bulging disc that is pushing on my nerves. I have never in my life had a doctor told me that don’t know what’s causing my pain without also offering me next steps to figure out what is causing it. He told me to “keep doing what I’m doing” (after having told him how everything I’ve tried has not helped the pain at all) and after I pressed him further, told me to lose weight (after I told him I cannot do any form of exercise without pain). So, definitely don’t expect a doctor who will work to actually make you feel better, and definitely don’t go to him if you’re fat. I’m not sure why or how he practices medicine, but he’s surely not motivated by a desire to make people feel better.

Dee Dee Dalton: Got a referral to see Dr Rhee. Called every day for a week. Talked to machines. Talked to a human once. The human must still be searching for my referral in her mountain of faxes. Move on, get referred to a different practice. Edit...got a return call right after posting. Coincidence? "We have been experiencing troubles with our lines." Sure. Problem is that good doctors won't even know how patients are being mishandled by back office staff. Enjoy Privia. 1 star bc zero was not an option.

C. Davis: Wondering if this is the practice for you? It is. I was incredibly impressed by everyone from the reception team to the providers. Dr. Levine was thorough, honest, and caring. He addressed all of my concerns and came up with a plan that really suits me and my situation. I feel hopeful for the first time since I was injured. Thank you so much - your excellence was noted.
Response: Thank you for having confidence in us.

Dale Akstin: Dr. Jay Rhee is my trusted MD at the NCN practice. He's friendly, informative, and a commensurate professional within his field. Dr. Rhee has both performed, consulted, and referred me on a number of ailments from an s1-L5 fusion, to addressing spinal stenosis concerns, to planning and preparing for both future victories and challenges alike. I cannot speak highly enough about not only Dr. Rhee's technical prowess, but his sincerity, integrity, and care for his patients. I've seldom if ever encountered a general practitioner, let alone surgeon of his caliber who puts his patients first, second, and third. We are grateful and thankful to have Dr. Rhee looking over us!

Cindy Brown: During my consult visit I felt the doctor had viewed my images and had a good grasp of what I was dealing with. I had planned on a 2nd consult but have decided not to do that and go with the plans discussed with Dr. Levine.
Response: Thank you and we look forward to taking care of you.

Jelly Bean: Not such a great experience and heard doesn’t treat his employees right…

Inova Neurosurgery: what do users think?

Shila Chow: I would rate this place a zero to reflect on the rudeness, negligence (the Hispanic receptionist was extremely rude and hung up the phone mid conversation twice as I was trying to make an appointment). Waiting for almost an hr and receptionist had me on hold and ended up dropping the call again, so frustrating in trying to even make an appointment, I guess I’ll be going somewhere else to see a provided, inova you just lost $, keep doing that, you’ll lose patients from your clinic, please get better receptionists who are trained well. Couldn’t really speak on the doctors/skills since I didn’t even get to see the provider-what a shame

Richad Weidner: Very thoughout and clearly understand the diagnosis. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend.

Michael Horwatt: I had my first visit to see Dr. Hamilton at his offices. I had met his as head of the team that treated me on an emergency and ongoing basis at Fairfax INNOVA. Although I had to wait for an hour to see him for my scheduled appointment, I found the wait worth it, and I expected it. I had read from Google reviews that he cares about his patients and wants to communicate them . I consider that an all too rare and valuable trait for a surgeon. The supporting office personnel were caring, attentive and polite. His physician's assistant was easy to talk to. Dr. Hamilton asked clear, relevant questions and then responded clearly and directly He thinks systematically, displays both humility and confidence, and offered thoughtful advice. I knew I had come to the right place. Other reviewers found dealing with the appointments desk offputting. I agree that part of the operation needs improvement.

Kia Sims: Awful!! Rude!! Do not care about new patients. Cristie Brewer was extremely unconcerned about my care to the point she recommended I “go back to ER for care”.

Amanda Grimm: I wanted to chime in and say that it seems Inova Neurosurgery has taken steps to improve the interactions with their scheduling desk. Cassandra has been absolutely wonderful to deal with, every time I have called and made/moved appointments.

Kevin: Called to make an appointment for a consultation and the scheduler that picked up was probably the most rude, inconsiderate person I have ever spoke to. I asked her why she was being so rude and she completely ignored me. I ended up telling I will not be going there and she hung up on me. What type of establishment are you guys running over there? I was nothing but polite to that lady. Glad I didn't follow through with scheduling.

Philip Lee: Inova Neurosurgery needs to answer phone calls better. It seems that the group has a call center that answers call for their neurosurgeons. I called the scheduling dept several times over 3 days during their business hours. Each time, I waited for longer than 30 mins, and gave up eventually. I think that the hospital severely understaffs the department to maximize the profit at patient's inconvenience, or has issue with staff training to answer calls timely.

Danah Balmaceda: My gosh, I am trying to schedule an appointment. Its basically just the automatic phone and you are on HOLDDD foreverrrrrrr!!!

Paul Hadley: Great place for brain and spine care

Howard University Hospital | Neurology: what do users think?

Triple H: I wasted my precious time going to this place honestly, am not sure what was the point of me staying there after i noticed that the doctor was just too focused on asking about what other doctors opinions were and so on and so forth with no proper explanation for what would be the cause of my pain(i even have explained in details of what procedures were done and what and which type of pain i am experiencing), after 4 hours of being there (2 hours prior to my appointment) i was sent home with no proper advice or treatment for my excruciating headache and facial pain that i suffer from after multiple sinus procedures. Truly a waste of time.

annette brent: Will not return to this hospital. My physician was mr.ware. Went for a second opinion, regarding an ongoing arm pain. Physician wanted to rely on what the other physician diagnosis.Just questioning i stopped him to ask i am coming here for a second opinion not relying on there diagnosis since it's been 2yrs of treatment with no progression just more medicine. He plagiarized just relied on the information was given from previous physician STAY AWAY FROM HOWARD UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Daphne Labor Sesay: My son has been going there since he was a baby, my son is now 19yrs old, and I won't trade Dr. Trough for no other MD.

Latimer Neurology Center: what do users think?

Chris Moore: Dr. Latimer and her nurse's work miracles. I was misdiagnosed for the last 10 years. Dr. Latimer thought she could treat me just from hearing family history from a relative. After doing blood work she diagnosed me and set up a plan to remedy the problem. Dr. Latimer is at the forefront of new medicine and procedures. You can not go wrong here. I read previous reviews about issues other people had but we haven't experienced anything like that. They were very professional and helpful.
Response: Thanks Chris for your great review.!

Stephanie & Barry McHugh: We have been with this practice for over eight years. It has been a long journey. Dr. Latimer was willing to fight for the best treatment for my boys with a disease that was not being recognized. I have two happy and mostly healthy boys and without Dr. Latimer I am not sure my oldest would still be alive. We will be forever grateful and we love everyone in her office. The things I have watched them have to handle and the sacrifices I have seen them make are well beyond what is typical. Keep your records in order and be an advocate just like anywhere else. No, insurance does not cover much and it has been worth every penny!
Response: Thank you for your appreciative review!

Holly Sullivan: I can honestly say I would not be alive today if I had not been fortunate enough to have met Dr. Latimer. I have been a patient of Dr. Latimer's for 14 years on and off. I first went to see her after being paralyzed and left with horrific, unimaginable nerve pain due to a surgical error at Johns Hopkins. I was 18 years old and every specialist we had see before her told my family and I that there was no hope and I would be on high doses of the most powerful opiates for the rest of my life. It was very devastating. Dr. Latimer listened to me, she listed to my family. She decided she would take on my pain management herself. That meant seeing her at least once a month, often times more. She did everything she could to help me from researching different medications, to Botox injections, to sending me to other specialists to get their opinion, she never once gave up. When I started to have pain in my bones, losing my hair, and a host of other debilitating sysptoms she ran every test she could think of to try and figure out what was wrong. She eventually did and gave me, to this day, one of the best Christmas presents I have ever received when she called me on Christmas Eve night. She had gotten another round of my blood work back showing my vitamin D levels were non existent. She didn't just worry about my physical health but my mental health as well. She always made sure I was doing ok and if she thought I wasn't she would make sure I got help. I can walk now, I no longer have to take 25 different medications a day for pain, no longer bound to my bed, sedated by pain medicine. I have my life back, I'm a para athlete, a wife and a mom to 4 wonderful fur babies. None of this would have been possible without Dr. Latimer and her great staff. I could go on and on about Dr. Latimer but I'll just leave you with this. Dr. Latimer cares, she works hard to help her patients. Is she a tough, blunt person, yes. Does she make you wait for at least an hour for your appointment, yes. She takes her time with each patient, which is what you want. I have been sick my whole life, have a complex medical history and have seen hundreds of doctors in my lifetime, she is one of the best. She is an amazing doctor and if you are someone at the end of your rope and are feeling like no doctor is listening to you she is the the person you want. Thank you, Dr. Latimer and Staff.
Response: Thank you Holly. This is truly a feel good story. We are so grateful for your review.

Seth Ingall: We first sought consultation with Dr. Latimer 15 years ago when our 10 year old daughter suddenly started behaving quite differently. Dr. Latimer quickly diagnosed the condition, and initiated treatment which eliminated the symptoms. A couple of years later, Dr. Latimer helped us through a relapse. Now 14 years later, and with my daughter as a 24 year old high functioning adult in NYC and with another rapid onset relapse of auto immune encephalitis, Dr. Latimer was the only physician to provide an accurate diagnosis, treatment plan, and support to help us navigate the problems. She is an amazing lady, and her staff really helped us through some very tough times. Minda, Tristan, Andrea, Brenda and Dr. Latimer are all very compassionate care givers, focused on helping patients.

Vickie Bonawitz: After 20 years of misdiagnosis and dismissive behaviors from doctors and multiple hospitals, Dr. Latimer did a thorough history, examined my daughter's medical records and did a thorough neurological exam, which gave us the answers to her cognitive regression and involuntary movements. We have a long way to go, but without Dr. Latimer's diagnosis and treatment, I think my daughter's mind would have been completely destroyed. Dr. Latimer is smart and caring. We need more like her in the field of medicine.

Marcia E Gravatt: This place is insane! It is also reserved for rich people only!!! We first went to Dr. Latimer when my 18 year old was in 1st grade. She was ok then, but I had to stop taking my daughter to the appointments because she ALWAYS ran ridiculously late and had the smallest waiting room of any doctor. I just became so angry with how poorly her practice was run that I could not talk much to her when we finally got back to see her. In a moment of extreme poor judgment, I called her practice recently about my younger daughter. This is when I realized Dr. Latimer was not someone who I wanted to give my business to. The charge for a patient’s first session is $1200, which her office takes out of your account 3 weeks BEFORE you see her. That’s her version of “self pay!” How ridiculous is that? You have to pay her BEFORE you even receive her services. That amounts to a short term loan. Screw this practice!

John Young: We took our severely autistic daughter to Dr. Latimer hoping she could help us. She kept my wife, daughter and I waiting for 2 hours past our appointment time which agitated me since our daughter has a hard time being calm for that long in a new environment and I had a work schedule packed with clients that day. Even though Dr. Latimer never spoke a single word to me or met me (I had to leave before the exam) she took my agitation and the fact that my daughter had a rash on her bottom to indicate that I must be an unfit father and doing harm to our child. She called my wife after our exam to tell her she notified the police and child protective services. My wife and I were incredulous. Anyone that knows us knows our moral character and how loving and caring we are to our daughter. We do and try everything to help her and that's what led us to Dr. Latimer's office in the first place. Her baseless charges put us through the ringer for the next 24 hours which included having to drop everything in our lives and go immediately to Shady Grove hospital for an independent exam. Several hospital staff and physicians interviewed us and examined our daughter. Suffice to say, the physician overseeing the exam said there was absolutely no signs of abuse and told us "God bless you for all you do for your child." Having a severely autistic child is an every day challenge. We didn't need another 'fire drill' or unhelpful person to make are already hectic lives worse. How she jumped from agitation over a late appointment to potential child abuse is beyond me but it makes me question her judgement as a physician--especially when the Shady Grove child abuse specialist determined in less than 5 minutes that everything was ok. I will also mention that the rash on our child's bottom turned out to be a variation of strep--as confirmed by another competent physician. My wife told me later that Dr. Latimer didn't even use gloves when examining our daughter. Coming from a background in the pharmaceutical industry I've met all manner of physicians--some good some bad. I'll let this review speak for itself about which category I would file Dr. Latimer under.

Belina Acenas: We're from the West Coast and flew all the way to DC last month to see Dr L to try and get help for our 18 year old, autistic, low verbal son. After brief introductions, she dove right into our son's medical and developmental history, physically examined him and came up with an initial treatment plan. We're impressed with her knowledge about PANS/PANDAS and feel fortunate to have an opportunity to work with her and her compassionate office staff. We feel we went to the right place and are hopeful that our son will soon be on the road to recovery.
Response: Thank You!

Kevin Thomas: My experience with Dr. Latimer has been nothing short of exceptional. I suffered severe head trauma and as a consequence I lost complete feeling in the left side of my skull and have experienced migraines, of which, I’ve never had before. Her staff is always welcoming and will put a smile on your face, no matter how upset or down you may be feeling. I will continue to see Dr. Latimer as long as needed. She and her staff are not only brilliant, but they will give you the hard answers that some doctors will not. They do not “beat around the bush”. I would reccomend Dr. Latimer to anyone seeking a neurologist.

Kris M.: PLEASE make sure you do your research on this place, it’s absolutely awful. The office staff is a mess, they are afraid of the doctor and ask you to lie. The doctor is ALWAYS LATE and has ZERO AND I MEAN ZERO bedside manner. They charge you $1200 before you realize any of this. The nurse is clueless. We had no reason (we later learned) to put my daughter on meds yet this “amazing” doctor put her on two meds without any blood tests. My daughter suffered. We suffered. THE DOCTOR COULD HAVE CARED LESS. In fact she mocked me on one of my emergency phone calls to her. I have never felt so dismissed, my daughter needed help and she did nothing. Didn’t return calls. Didn’t return texts. Never heard from her or anyone in the office again. We had a follow up appointment scheduled and the office manager asked me to lie on the day of the appointment so “no one would get in trouble”. FOLKS YOU HAVE OTHER CHOICES. I absolutely cannot recommend this office or this doctor. She was 2 hours late for our appointment and we were the FIRST appointment of the day. Barely an apology. The nurse made snarky comments about the patients she was treating to the office staff, I overheard them and she looked at me and smirked. This place is so unprofessional, so disorganized. The doctor doesn’t even give you her full attention at your appointment but you can bet your bottom dollar she takes your money without blinking an eye. I can only pray her laziness and lack of testing didn’t damage my daughter in the long run. Go see Dr T in Ramsey NJ, that’s our new doctor and they have seen countless patients who originally started here and had to have the damage undone. This place is honestly TERRIFYING. Run the other way, and run fast.
Response: Sorry to hear of your reported experience. We are unable to locate you as a patient. Please give us a call to discuss further how we can help you.

Atlantic Brain & Spine: what do users think?

Deeb Oweis: I have been suffering from lower back pain for 3 years, it became unbearable the last six months. I was referred to Dr Jae Lim. I had great experience with the team from everybody at the office from Melanie , to Peter who helped process my orders and appointments to Nurse Practitioner Megan Martin to Dr. Lim. The entire time is professional , caring and gave the time to make sure I received the answers to all my questions. I had the surgery and exactly like explained to me during my visit. Dr Lim performed fusion of two of my vertebrates and I was discharged the next day. I was able to walk without the lower back pain after suffering from that pain for more than 4 difficult years. Dr Lim has done a great job during surgery and the team has done a great job following the surgery. All along I was treated with respect, privacy, comfort, excellent care and felt welcome . I highly recommend Dr Lim to my family and friends as needed without any hesitation. I have two family members who suffer lower back pain and they both will be scheduling appointments with Dr Lim very soon. Deeb Oweis

Ieesha Carroll: You are always in Great Hands with Dr. Lim and NP Meaghan!! The whole team is very knowledgeable and courteous. They changed the quality of life for my Granny with the Spinal Fusion and aftercare. I am forever grateful. I definitely recommend Atlantic Brain & Spine to my friends and family who are looking for a Superb Surgical team and experience.

Kim short: Dr. LIM, Meghan and the entire team are absolutely the Best. They all made my first ever - significant surgery the Best experience I could have imagined. Even after the surgery, I never felt that I couldn't reach out to the team with questions and concerns. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from Meghan to check on me. It's been a year now and I feel much better than I did before my total discs replacement procedure. I will see this team, IF, I needed their services again, and HIGHLY recommend that you choose this team for your needs.

shawn duquette: Dr. Lim and his team have given me great care! They are very responsive to my requests!

Danielle Werthmann: I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lim, Meghan Martin, NP and the office staff. Dr. Lim and Meghan are very professional and always have the patient's best interest in mind. They work seamlessly together. I had surgery performed by Dr. Lim and Meghan and could not be any happier with the results (L5-S1 herniation) and I'm only 2 days post-op. My back, leg and foot thank you, Dr. Lim and Meghan!!

BLUERIDGE SLOTS: Dr. Lim saved me from being disabled after a serious wreck and spent the night operating on me when many others said no way. His staff is the greatest and I always felt treated the best a person could be. This is a world class operation and you will feel assured you are in great hands when being seen by this group. Thanks for helping me!!

Jeremy hansen: I have degenerative disc disease in my back and neck. I have had 2 surgery's with Dr. Lim, I had a ruptured L5 disk the day after surgery I no longer needed pain pills. I went back to work in 2 weeks with a full recovery in just a couple of months. Dr. Lim was understanding and explained all my concerns of surgery with confidence. My second surgery with Dr. Lim was a full disk replacement in my neck. Dr. Lim put the latest and greatest Mobi C disk in my neck no more neck pain I now have full movement of my neck and the feeling came back to my fingers! I was power washing and painting the house in 1 week I went back to work in 2 weeks. I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Lim to fix 2 more disks in my lower back which will be the last of the surgery, I'm not worried as I know he will do what is best for me. Two of the best decisions in my life was to get my back and neck fixed getting rid of the stress and pain. Dr. Lim listened and understood my lifestyle ( I'm a construction worker and own a Beef Cow and Goat Farm) coming up with solutions that helped me get "Fixed" and take care of my responsibilities at the same time. Thanks Dr. Lim for helping me get through life.

Marwan A: Dr. Lim has worked with my mother who doesn't speak good English, to guide on her on which option would be best for her. He did not rush her and was very kind and patient. I am very pleased to deal with his clinic and staff.

Johns Hopkins Neurosurgery: what do users think?

David Lin: I am the new Division Chief of Johns Hopkins Neurosurgery for our Bethesda practice, although I have been in this practice for 6 years. This is to address the two commentators before: To Ms. Amber Murry: As neurosurgeons, most updated imaging studies are of critical importance to us to formulate the most accurate and best professional opinions about your condition. That is why throughout Johns Hopkins Neurosurgery, including our Baltimore main campuses, employ the policy of requiring the most recent imaging studies. I would also like to clarify that when we asked to reschedule your visit until a new study is available, your appointment would be moved to a new date without fees charged. To a Google user posted 8 years ago: Johns Hopkins Neurosurgery at Bethesda was not formed yet 8 years ago. At this particular location, there was a different group of private-practice neurosurgeons. Update: To a Google user identified as Christiane Ciccone, posting one star 2 years ago: With this name, I found one patient in Johns Hopkins's electronic medical record system with the same name, who never came to our practice (or actually ever had ever seen anyone in the Johns Hopkins Neurosurgery). Variations of this name (Christine, Chris, etc.) did not produce any record of anyone who came to our service.

Ann Marie: The doctor wouldn’t see me just because my last MRI Scan was a little over a year ago instead of a little under a year. I understand their purposes but I still took the time to take off work and be there just to be told that the doctor won’t even see me... I’m never coming back here again because I don’t want to be turned away over something small like this. Everyone’s time is valuable I believe he at least could have taken the time to see me... he gets paid for it anyways

Aishwarya Chauhan: I find Johns Hopkins Neurosurgery fantastic. The way doctors do their duty in hospital is outstanding

Zachary T. Levine, MD: what do users think?

Gordon Baltuch: Dr Levine has been the 'go to' neurosurgeon for deep brain stimulation in the DC area for more than 2 decades. He is a highly innovative functional neurosurgeon with superb attention to detail who has always been on the cutting edge of the field. He his now using incisionless focused ultrasonic waves to treat tremor and i have observed him operate and his results are fabulous!

S Schwartzbach: Dr. Levine is excellent but the front desk personal are terrible. Have called 4 days in a row to request an appointment and am transferred three times to a generic voicemail and once to an individual. Never received a return call in response to any of these messages. Prior to requesting this appointment, I was told I could not be given an appointment until I obtained an MRI to be ordered by general practitioner. MRI report in hand I was now attempting to get the appointment I originally requested. Guess I also need to ask my general practitioner for another referral for a neurosurgeon.

Courtlond Wells: We came to Dr. Levine for a second opinion, even though he was 70 miles from our home (total disc arthroplasty, C3/4, including discectomy with end plate preparation). For the second opinion, my wife a M.D. tapped her network of trusted friends in the D.C. area. The symptoms were acute and implied potentially both disc compression and carpal tunnel in my right / dominant arm, preventing me working. Dr. Levine conducted a thorough hands on clinical examination, as well as assessed the Neurology and MRI inputs. He took care in explaining the condition, procedure and likely outcomes. I'm writing this review 18 months post surgery. Immediately no more pain or tingling discomfort, plus he negated what felt like carpal tunnel. I use and abuse my neck like a young man (I'm 54). I moved house last year, multi-week heavy and awkward lifting. I sleep anyway I like, on my stomach (though probably shouldn't!). With this outcome, over the time passed, I highly recommend Dr. Levine and can't thank him enough.

K S: Dr. Levine performed a VP shunt surgery on me recently. He explained everything in detail, answers my million questions about everything in a prompt manner and has helped me get my life back! I owe him so much. Thank you!!!!

Shalini Sethi: Dr Levine did DBS surgery on my father in July 2019 and my dad had major complications the same day and night of surgery and Dr Levine hardly attended to see that my dad was losing his memory and also ended up in the ICU for seizures. Dr Levine was called at 3 am that night of surgery when the nurse called him to tell him that my dad is losing his memory and something is not right. He told the nurse that he is fine and will see him the next morning. The next morning my dad ended up having seizures and admitted to the ICU and that’s when dr Levine realized something was not right and then decided to put him on oxygen and meds and even then he came by for like 5 minutes. His PAs attend to everything which should be him in this situation especially. Dr Levine has no time to talk his patients in the hospital during his rounds so he sends his PA named Sheila to do his checks and follow ups and he himself spends like 5 minutes and that’s his check. His partner who is an Asian guy cane by to see my dad and said this is all normal. I mean he also doesn’t know what he is talking about at all. Nothing was normal about my dad losing his memory and not being able to walk. This is like a rare statistic that happened to my father. Dr a Levine for formality says he cares just to look good to your face but really doesn’t care from what I have seen and observed about him. He didn’t care about my father and today my dad can’t walk and is wheelchair bound and mind you my dad walked into that surgery and came out with memory loss and unable to walk for the rest of his life and major tremors which Dr Levine kept saying will go away and didn’t. Dr Levine has no answers and brushed us off and washed his hands clean of the case. Told us to get a second option and let us know if we need his help. He kept saying your dad will get better, I promise etc. None of it was true. Just words out of his mouth and never personally follows up. To him we are just another patient another case another $$$$. What happens after that he doesn’t care. I ask - what if a surgeon ruined Dr Levine life and he could not walk anymore - how would he feel?

Vivek Puri: Dr. Levine performed Deep Brain Stimulation on me in December of 2018. He was amazing. He walked me through the pros and cons and helped me understand how it works, what would occur during the surgeries, and what to expect afterwards. The surgery went even better than expected. I really couldn't have had a better experience. He is also involved after the surgery to help people out and track what happens over time (most surgeons don't seek that feedback, which is shocking when I think about it). Lastly, he is hilarious. Our banter helped calm me down for what was a potentially scary situation.

Laura Olson: saw Dr. Levine for a 2nd opinion as he has operated on 5 family members. Did not find him personable or caring at all. He did not agree with my ortho who suggested a spinal fusion. Said he would consult with my him who he knows well to ask him why he thought I needed the surgery. At my suggestion, he sent me for a 2nd MRI and a nerve test. He never called my ortho or me for my results. My 2nd MRI showed I now needed 2 fusions which my original ortho will do and who i love. David Levin was right from the get go not to mention his caring warm personality makes a difficult situation much more bearable.

Madeline Roy: In 2008 I consulted Dr Levine having spinal stenosis. Dr. Levine operated on me for Spinal Stenosis with Lumbar fusion on my back. Dr. Levine gave me my life back. He is an amazing doctor. When I went for my Post Op X-rays the technician asked who did my surgery because it was TEXT BOOK work...Perfect!!! She showed me the screw in my back and they were perfectly done. She said most of the back surgeries that she sees shows screws in all different directions, etc. She said no wonder people have pain even after surgery because of the terrible job other doctors perform. Dr. Levine work is PERFECT!!!!! I recommend him 100%. I would go back to him in a heart beat. I would never go to anyone else.. If it can be fixed he will do an amazing job. If he refuses to do your surgery its for a good reason, I would take his advise any day. He is brilliant...no question!!

Manny Karos: Dr Levine successfully removed a tumor from my cervical spine in December 2016. The 5 hour procedure involved over 60 percent of my cervical spine(neck). Today he reviewed the MRI of my neck and indicated I was cured. While I am still taking some occupational therapy, I can walk well now and able to do my yardwork and other repair tasks around the house. Thank you Dr. Levine for your excellent neurosurgical expertise..

Ellen Didion: It was like a miracle!!! One year ago today, Dr.Levine performed laparoscopic surgery on my lower back, removing 2 large fragments that were pressing on my sciatic nerve, along with a discectomy. The excruciating pain was GONE later that day!!! I was normally a very active person and over the 3 month’s prior to my surgery, I had progressed terribly, unable to stand or walk for more than 5 minutes at a time. I experienced numbness and terrible pain, had been visiting my chiropractor, getting acupuncture, consulting pain management specialists, while continuing to get worse. I am SO GLAD that I went to Dr. Levine!!! I am now back to my extremely active self, and feel GREAT!!! I can not recommend him highly enough!!! THANK YOU Dr. Levine

Dr. Faheem A. Sandhu, MD: what do users think?

Cyndi Glass: Dr. Sandhu literally destroyed my husbands quality of life. He performed a 2 day surgery know he had neuropathy and the surgery would be highly unlikely to help him. Instead, after a 3 level fusion lumbar surgery he is considerably worse than before the surgery. He does the 7 hour surgery in a two day process because of his own fatigue. Unreal! So my husband has to be put under anesthesia twice. Think twice or three times before using Dr. Sandhu. In addition, his office staff was very poor.

Danielle Swayze: I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and had a C1C2 fusion and a crainiotomy with Dr. Sandhu. I was great a month post surgery but then a few months in, I started having severe pain in my neck and head, as well as had started hallucinating/hearing voices. I had no history of mental health issues in my life. In fact, I'm a mental health professional. I believe this had something to do with my procedures. I kept stressing that something is severely wrong with me and no one will listen. In fact, they refuse to have me back into the office and declared that, "I'm perfectly fine." "Nothing whatsoever is wrong with you." I think my intracranial pressure has been affected. My entire life has been ruined. I cannot even go to another surgeon in state because I have to have a Ehlers Danlos knowledgeable surgeon. Dr. Sandhu is the only Ehlers Danlos knowledgeable surgeon in state that takes my medical insurance. I have been completely abandoned. I'm terrified and have nowhere to turn.

Erlinda Frayna: 4 yrs ago he did back surgery on me after a week my back pain was worse than before I went to see him but he did not even see me another doctor talked to me& just referred me to pain management it's just saying I don't care & go to someone. I should had talked to lawyer but since I am an RN I just continue to have a painful recovery. He really had a bad bedside manner I should have not have that surgery but the reviews were good so I just put my trust & hope for the best but that was the biggest mistake I ever had in my life.

Dee Anne OHara: I too waited over 2 hours to see the doctor and then felt he was not prepared on my case which is a five level lumbar fusion that has rendered myself, a former athlete, teacher and coach into a veritable couch potato who can barely walk 1/4 of a mile without my legs swelling 3x their normal size! The appointment took maybe 10 minutes and i am not even sure where it went as i was in so much pain from sitting that long, plus the drive, I didn't really know what to ask! he is very nice and has a wonderful reputation,if you can get the time of day.

Anthony Thomas: Dr. Faheem Sandhu is one of the best human beings I ever met in my life! He is very patient and listens to his patients very carefully to help resolve your issues! You can trust him to the fullest with your life!! Also his staff is extremely professional and polite! I plan to have surgery from Dr Faheem, and I will not be worried about a thing! May God Bless whoever needed this reassurance!!

sam ash: Best most knowledgeable surgeon I have ever come across, and most humble as well!

Jad Elmasri: Words can not explain the impact this Dr. has had on my life. I was treated with respect, I was in constant communication with the staff, and I was informed of what each step would entail, towards my procedure. The staff was very helpful, and I was kept updated each step, even throughout the data/result collection phase. Dr. Sandhu performed the procedure, and I was discharged 2 hours later. Overall, this experience was a positive one, and one that I recommend for anyone with the similar case that I had. I have exhausted all my options when dealing with back pain, and I wish I had seen Dr. Sandhu initially.

Neicy Love: My rating is regarding the Front desk not the doctor. Dr. Sandhu is a great doctor, he is worth 5 stars BUT the people at the Front desk are so unprofessional!! Dr. Sandhu should definitely get a new staff for the Front desk because they are the first point of contact. There was a female that rolled her eyes and had a demeanor as if we the patient in the office was bothering her by asking her questions. So rude!!!

Karen Williams: Best neurologists. Highly recommend. Very attentive, caring and honest.

Beth Edwards: Great place

Dr. Jae Y. Lim, MD: what do users think?

Vanessa Escobar: PATIENTS BEWARE. The FRONT DESK office will profile and discriminate. The treatment my mother received from the front desk was appalling. My mother was referred to Dr. Lim for his excellent patient care. My mother had brain surgery and was asked to see Dr. Lim immediately for a trusted follow up. Sadly we never got past Robin and Cynthia at the front desk. They made the process to see Dr. Lim impossible and refused her communication with Dr. Lim (as directed by her Primary Care). Robin's management of the front desk was sad to witness. Cynthia's treatment of my moms case brought her (a 75 year old woman) to tears. No one should be put through such cruel and heartless engagement, especially at a doctors office. This should never be the case but the front desk prevented patient care based on their biases and discrimination. It is a sad story but a reality nonetheless. The front desk is NOT a reflection of Dr. Lim's care but it is the gate keeper to a practice that clearly lacks a human element.

Tiffany: I had a 3 level cervical fusion done yesterday afternoon. I was home me in no pain less than 24 hours after waking up in recovery. Dr Lim is FANTASTIC at what he does, and has an amazing bedside manner. I had originally gone to him seeking lumbar surgery first (where I will also need a 3 level fusion) but he identified (where no other Dr I've seen has) that the majority of my pain was coming from arthritis in my hips, not from the lumbar disc herniations. I will entrust Dr Lim with all my spinal care from now on!

Judy Daner: I would like to share my experience as a patient of Dr. Jae Y. Lim. I had endured excruciating back pain for approximately 1 year. I tried everything I knew. I was not successful. I consulted with 5 Orthopedists who told me I was getting old (I'm 70!) and should expect pain. I was blessed to be referred to Dr. Lim. In every meeting, Dr. Lim proved to be knowledgeable, interested, and caring. He used models of the spine and my x-rays to illustrate what needed to be done. Dr. Lim NEVER dismissed my concerns. He clearly explained my options. I believed him unquestionably and opted for surgery. In a short time I was was scheduled for surgery on 9/8/17. Dr. Lim was with me all the way! I was a bit nervous walking through the doors of Reston Hospital, but I was optimistic Dr. Lim would take care of me and make everything all right. I was confident in his expertise and skills. Coming from a family with doctors and nurses, I believe when you want to know about a doctor, you ask a nurse. The OR nurses at Reston Hospital said without a doubt, Dr. Lim is FANTASTIC! My spinal surgery was successful. I went home knowing he was only a phone call away. I have so much respect for Dr. Lim that when someone complains about extreme back pain, I don't hesitate to suggest they see Dr. Lim FIRST. He will tell you honestly if he can help you...or what you need to do to get relief from the pain. Throughout my recovery and first year after surgery, Dr. Lim's assistants were absolutely extraordinary. Meghan Martin, Nurse Practitioner, always returned my calls with sound advice. Sarah, Office Manager, made my check ups a joy! Both women are intelligent, attentive, and sensitive to each patient...beautiful ladies inside and out. In my opinion and based on my experience, Dr. Jae Lim is a superior physician as is his practice. He is certainly on the top of my list when I need his special care. I highly recommend that Dr. Jae Y. Lim, M.D. should be at the top of your list as well Respectfully, Judith A. Daner
Response: Hi Judy, thank you so much for this kind and detailed review! Thank you for putting your trust in me and my office, it was truly an honor being able to work with you. Best of luck in your continued recovery and please don't hesitate to reach out to me or my office should you ever need anything.

Covering Windows: Thank you Thank you Thank you Dr Lim, I am in disbelief , you literally gave me a new life , ( No More Pain), 4 1/2 hour surgery, some three weeks ago. today I walked to my mailbox and back not one moment of any pain. Dr. Lim asso. and staff are like the icing on the cake , all professional caring and prompt. How could one show enough gratitude to such amazing professional??????? I also found that he was able to remove a sizeable tumor from my spine and place the vertebrate back in place with no usage of any metal. I am so happy,

Evan Miller: Dr. Lim did my disc replacement surgery in 2017 and is now treating my other cervical issues and I have nothing but great things to say about him and his staff. They are all very professional and sympathetic to the patients issues and do everything possible to help. I also like the fact the that last resort for the practice is surgery. After my surgery, I was up an around in two days and fully functioning at work within two weeks after having two discs replaced. I won't go anywhere else for brain/spine care, he is the best in my book. I say that because my wife is a physician and we interviewed three other doctors prior to choosing Dr. Lim.

Robbie Zebhideh: I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Lim and his staff. I came across many doctors and practices in the area, none compare to Dr. Lim and his staff. Not only do they have your best interest at heart, they set expectations accordingly. After dealing with insurmountable amounts of pain, rendering me virtually unable to walk for 6-7 months, I owe my quality of life and my ability to move forward to Dr. Lim, Dr. Martin, and their entire staff. This practice is 100 times better than any other practice in the area, and I feel grateful to have them in my corner.

Amy Jensen: I am grateful to Dr. Lim, Meghan Martin, and the rest of the staff for the skilled, personalized care I received when I needed a microdiscectomy. They were professional and patient, explaining everything in detail prior to and after the procedure. I felt confident I was in good hands with people who truly cared about my recovery. They did not disappoint and I couldn't be happier with the results.
Response: Thank so much for taking the time to leave this kind review, Amy. It was a pleasure being able to work with you before, during and after your surgery. Best of luck in your continued recovery and please don't hesitate to reach out if you ever need anything.

Onur Can: The staff was phenomenal and maintained great communication throughout the entire process. I felt welcomed and in great hands immediately. I had excruciating sciatic pain for about 3 years. I couldn't walk or stand for longer than 10 minutes without my legs tingling, going numb, or just completely giving out on me. I tried waiting it out, physical therapy, chiropractors, etc...to no avail. After countless hours of research and a very frightful MRI, I knew that surgery was inevitable. Dr. Lim thoroughly explained my MRI and the complications that were discovered. He was very confident and reassuring about this procedure (laminectomy). Easily one of the best decisions I've made. Dr. Lim's surgery gave me a new lease on life! I am extremely happy with Dr. Lim's performance and his staff.
Response: Onur, thank you for taking the time to leave this kind and detailed review. I know that I speak for my entire staff when I say that it was truly a pleasure being able to work with you and put you back on the road to pain-free living. If you ever need anything, you know where to reach me.

Heather Hassell: I had a herniated disc at c5-c6 which was compressing my spinal column. A bone spur on the vertebrae cut into the dura causing a spinal fluid leak. It all happened January 26th 2018. I went the entire time from January to September, which was the first time I saw Dr Lim, basically living on drugs. Meghan and Dr Lim were very thourough in their exam and went over everything with me so it was clear. I have never felt better in my life! Their after care is phenomenal and again very thourough. I wouldn’t let anyone touch my neck except Meghan and Dr. Lim. Highly highly recommend them!
Response: Heather, thank you so much for your kind review and I'm so happy to hear that you're recovering well from your surgery. I speak for my whole team when I say that we were truly honored to have the opportunity to work with you. Please do not hesitate to reach out if should ever need anything.

Sarah Conway: Having never been operated on I was scared to find out I would need surgery. I'm more than grateful that Dr. Lim and his incredibly sweet Nurse Practitioner Meghan took on my case. They aren't the type to sugarcoat- so I knew exactly what to expect and was well informed. They have incredible bedside manner which is important to me as a patient. Together Dr. Lim and Meghan are truly a dynamic duo and his office staff is SUPERB. Thank you for everything!!
