Washington Institute of Surgery: Mohammed M. Kalan, MD, FACS, FRCS: what do users think?

Michelle Schuster: I’m very grateful that I was able to have Dr. Kalan be my surgeon for my emergency surgery which was complicated by being on a blood thinner. He was excellent at reassuring me and my family before the procedure and that at my subsequent visit explained everything to me and my wife in such a kind incomprehensible way. I feel that he is giving me the best possible care and all the information that I need going forward. Thank you so much, Dr. Kalan, and your wonderful staff.

Tavicare Office: Dr Kalan and his staff are absolutely the best. They are professional, thorough, very responsive and very caring. They go the extra mile to provide above standard care. I am convinced that their above-standard care and "going the extra mile" has helped save my life. I am forever grateful to Dr Kalan and his amazing staff. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Eliana Assimakopoulos: Dr Kalan is the consummate professional and places his patients at ease with his reassurance and steadfast confidence. His team is compassionate gentle and knowledgeable. I felt safe and well cared for in his hands.

Paul D: Would be a 5 star but had to wait about 35 or 40 mins past appointment time to be seen. This was a post-op visit to follow up on a hospital stay due to a post surgical complication. Having said that, I found Dr Kalan to be attentive, insightful and most importantly to me, willing to explain and indulge my questions.

Steven Kebeck: DR. Kalan was very professional and to the point, about my condition. I thought , I was experiencing a hiatal Hernia and it was simply a muscle issue. The staff was excellent.

Richard Zorn: Dr Kalan is a superb surgeon with a winning bedside manner! I presented him with a complex and challenging medical condition. The surgery went really well and I am recovering nicely. His staff is also amazing! He has 3 PA’s and one CRNP who are very knowledgeable and always accessible. The office staff is also top-notch. Nothing but the highest regard for Dr Kalan and his staff!!

Rosita Stevens-Holsey: The office was very calm and relaxing. The staff was professional, courteous, and helpful. A surgeon makes the bulk of fees from performing surgery. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Kalan suggested more investigation into my medical issues before recommending surgery. He was very reassuring and knowledgeable.

Jerome Danoff: Dr Kalan and his staff are friendly, competent, and professional. My surgery went exactly as promised. They have been solicitous of my recovery, and I am doing very well. Dr Kalan is highly skilled and directs an excellent surgical program. Many thanks to the entire team.

Barb Giniger Cooper: I've been diagnosed with diverticulitis and have been suffering from this disease for many years. I'm going to move forward with the sigmoid surgery and consulted with Dr. Kalan today. He's exceptional - loved the clear explanations to all of our questions, and while I'm scared of the surgery, he put me at ease as much as it's considered possible. Dr. Kalan's staff (John and Rachel) were also responsive and understanding. Looking forward to being on the other side of this. 5 stars for the entire experience thus far.

Jacqui White: I had a most remarkable visit at Dr Kalan's office The staff was most efficient and gave me info that another Dr would likely not give. They were so courteous and tended to me right away. The Nurse took her time with me, asking questions and answering my questions. All in all a very good visit. I would recommend anyone to this Physician knowing they will get A-1 service...

Lin Paul P MD: what do users think?

Donna H: I am so absolutely fond of Dr. Lin. His bedside and chair side mannerisms are thoughtful, informative and straightforward. I would never want to be in anyone else’s care. I trust him completely and I never find myself doubting his judgment. I know his skill and abilities are impeccable and he has never led me astray. I owe him 2-3 lives. We go back about 14 years.

Tony Felt: From the very minute I walked into GW I heard nothing but praise about Dr. Lin and his skill as a surgeon and educator. The nurses and support staff know him and say he’s a great doctor. The residents say he’s tough, but the that the men and women in his service go on to be fantastic surgeons. My experience with Dr. Lin was outstanding and I consider myself extremely fortunate that he did my procedure. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a top surgeon. Look him up, his accolades speak for themselves. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. Make an appointment!

Kelly Krug: You won't find a better doctor. He is amazing! Saved my life 3 years ago!

Sheila Jackson: Excellent dr. Surgery was performed in 2015.

Renee O'Brien: Saved my life! Enough said.

Patrick G. Jackson, MD, FACS: what do users think?

Delilah Kelly: Dr. Jackson was my mom's doctor during her pancreatic cancer fight from 2005 to 2099. He was very kind, compassionate and professional.

michelle savage: Because of some physical abnormalities, my in and out gallbladder surgery turned into a week long hospital stay. Dr. Jackson and his entire team were awesome! It's not usual to get a doctor that is excellent at what he does AND is pleasant and attentive. I am hesitant to recommend because I fear when it's known what jewels Dr. Jackson and his team are, they'll be flooded with patients. However, I have to give praise when it's due. A+

Lady J: Dr. Jackson took excellent care of my sister before, during, and after her recent serious medical diagnosis and surgical procedure. He gave her his undivided attention at every visit, and he greeted her with hugs and words of encouragement during her procedure. He is very knowledgable and experienced in his work. He is a doctor who is very compassionate, concerned, understanding and thoughtful in interacting with his patients. He is truly a gift from God, and a wonderful person and doctor. Georgetown University Hospital finest!

Doris McMillon: I had an Appendectomy. He was excellent and has excellent bedside manner. I wasn't just a body part!

Jon Winder: Totally professional, competent and knowledgeable. Works with a wonderful team. Could not have asked for better care

J. R. Salameh, MD, FACS: what do users think?

Mark Thomas: Dr. Salameh did an amazing job repairing a major hernia that I had for years. You can't even tell that I had a hernia now. He used the robotic surgery technique and used a mesh to strengthen the abdominal wall. The surgery was relatively pain free. I was up and about after two days and the pain was gone after just a few weeks. I can now take my shirt off without being stared at. I can't say how much this has changed my life for the better. Excellent job, Dr. Salameh!

Neil Schuster: I used Dr. Salameh for a hernia repair operation. Fairly simple, outpatient procedure, and I was impressed with his approach and with the folks in his office. He clearly explained all the options to me, was honest about the recovery time (I wanted to return to running in a week; he told me that was unlikely). His office staff was very efficient in getting me set up for the surgery. The surgery went well and there was no complication at all. I visited for a follow-up visit a number of weeks later. I would recommend him highly to anyone planning on hernia surgery.

Leslie Garcia: Dr. Salameh came highly recommended by my primary care physician and I'm so happy that I chose him to do my surgery. Dr. Salameh is very professional, took the time to discuss all my surgery options, respected my opinions and the decision that I made, and completed my surgery above my expectations. I don't expect to ever need this surgery again but I would choose Dr. Salameh every time. I recommend him, and his office, to anyone considering gastric surgery.

Ronnie Precup: Dr Salameh is the kindest, gentlest, most compassionate physician I've ever known. Though I am in my 70s, he allayed my apprehension about bariatric surgery by carefully explaining the various options, clearly answering all of my questions, and helping me to understand why the sleeve gastrectomy would be best for me. The preparation guidance provided by his staff went smoothly; the surgery was swift; and recovery was relatively pain-free. Ultimately I lost a third of my total body weight and am much happier and healthier than I've been in many years. I strongly recommend Dr Salameh for anyone considering weight-loss surgery. He's fantastic.

Joe S: Dr. Salameh is wonderful! He has a very good bedside manner and really listened to my concerns before and after my surgery. I highly recommend him for any surgical needs.

Jackie Chembers: I am so thankful to have found Dr. Salameh. I had a large complex hernia and after seeing a local Doctor went to get a second opinion. Thank God I did. Not only was his expertise and knowledge top notch but he was able to do the robotics. My hernia was worse than what the scan had shown and difficult per the location. He did an amazing job. I am still recovering but am on the mend. I was impressed of how he called within 5 minutes on a Saturday back as I needed more pain meds and the order had not been received at Walmart. He took care of that ASAP for me. Walmart loses orders sometimes as it’s happened before so I knew it was on their end but needed the meds and had no issues. He did a good job. My muscles that tore were in between 2 of my ribs. As it was high up on my left side. He was able to pull my muscles together as close as he could and put mesh in but he also had to free up scar tissue as my kidneys were stuck to my ribs. I highly recommend Dr. Salameh. He took the worry and stress away as I knew I was in good hands. He is also very nice and has good bad side manners which is a plus. Worth the Drive to VA. I would travel to see him if I needed him again. His office is very accommodating too as I had FMLA paperwork and short term paperwork and they were all over it. I did not feel like just a number. Best experience I’ve ever had. dr. Salameh answered all my questions. I don’t usually have a lot of faith in doctors and hospitals. But I do in him and VA hospital Center and his staff. It has changed my thinking. I literally feel so blessed to have found Dr Salameh. I am grateful. Jacklyn Chembars. Mechanicsville MD

Nahu Dimitri: Gave my grandmother great consult on course of action for dialysis. Strongly recommend this physician and their group

RoRo Gingy: Dr. Salameh has been saving my life since 2017. He is informative, straight shooter and professional.

Grand Meemaw: He is an exceptional doctor who really cares about his patients. He is very approachable and welcomed all questions that I had or ever had about my procedure. I am very thankful for his time and care! He is an expert on the conditions he specializes and puts his patients to ease about processes and procedures. He has a wonderful rapport with his patients that is not typically found with doctors of his high acumen. I will recommend all of my friends and family to him!!

Mac Greer: Fantastic! Not a word I would normally associate with hernia surgery but it's appropriate. Dr Salameh and team were top-notch through entire process. Bravo!

Martin Paul, DC: what do users think?

Stephanie Kellogg: Nothing but an amazing experience! I was so afraid to have my gallbladder removed but it was a great experience with a caring staff! Dr. Paul is an awesome surgeon who put me at ease!!! No one wants to have surgery ever, but if you need to , I would say Dr. Paul and the entire staff ar Sibley were the BEST! IM FEELING SOOOO MUCH BETTER! THANKS SO MUCH DR. PAUL!

Amber Harding: I gave an unhappy review a little over a month ago that expressed my experiences. Since then I have had the pleasure of working with the entire staff and seems like the issue was simply a miscommunication. I’m extremely satisfied with my experiences and would recommend him 1 million times over!

William Trimble: Dr. Paul and his staff were absolutely terrific from beginning to end of a recent procedure. Always available for questions and always on time. Highest recommendation.

Jannet Colvin: My husband needs surgery after his last colonoscopy and we were referred to Dr. Paul by Capital Digestive Care, it’s a fairly competent group, or so I thought, the visit was a little off and Dr. Paul was very pushy to schedule a surgery date, I did not feel comfortable and when I came back home researched “Colo-Rectal Surgery” and discovered this Surgeon is NOT Fellowship Trained in Colon and Rectal Surgery; I was shocked…… and have to question to competency of the referring provider, Capital Digestive Care; I mean the average patient does not know these things and should not have to, this is where trust comes in and I don’t trust Capital Digestive Care anymore. I am not putting my husband’s care in these peoples untrained hands while the region has many trained and accredited Fellowship Trained and Colo-Rectal Board Certified Surgeons. I mean would you take your transmission to a guy that is trained to do oil and lube????

KK Nichols: I wish I could give 5 stars however I cannot. A family member went to see Dr. Paul for a surgical consult. Dr. Paul and his staff are pleasant but that’s where it ends. When scans came back we called the office repeatedly for results and were left on hold or the phone wasn’t answered at all. As far as I know no attempts have been made to call us to come back in for follow up. There were no recommendations for next steps. I pull not place my family member’s life I’m his hands. I’m terribly disappointed as he was a referral from a medical practice I trust.

Vivi Lasanta burgos: I had a procedure done at Sibley Hospital.. Dr. Martin G. Paul, M.D performed my procedure. He is a great doctor.. very knowledgeable, very gentle and attentive. Before going to my procedure i was an emotional wreck.. but the staff at Sibley are sooooooo friendly that it made me feel at ease. Let me not forget the nurses..in specific Arlene and Lee which were the ones that took care of me after... they are AMAZING! By far the best care i have had in a hospital. Thank you guys soo much for making this scary experience a great one.and taking great care of me.. . god bless you all..

Karim S. Trad, MD: what do users think?

Christine Fanning: Dr. Trad is truly an extraordinary physician -- representing the best qualities of a doctor (and human being). I won't go into details but from the first visit to a few tests to a referral to another doctor (one who is also the best in a related field) Dr. Trad was kind, reassuring, compassionate and thoughtful. Fortunately, I haven't had many health issues over the years and will be forever grateful to Dr. Trad for his approach and humanity. Chris

Lola McCray: Dr. Trad is an amazing doctor. He is very knowledgeable, extremely caring and compassionate. We could not even dream about better experience. Five stars are not nearly enough to give him and his practice. Thank you, Dr. Trad!

Robert Melvin: Doctor Trad is a fantastic GI. He is incredibly thorough, and does a great job when it comes to working to figure out the cause of symptoms and working to resolve it. I would recommend him to anyone in the VA/ DC region.

Lindsey Moon: Amazing surgeon and dream team staff! Dr. Trad is incredible and unlike any surgeon I've ever known. He is highly skilled, thinks outside the box, compassionate, and accessible! My care wasn't being managed properly by a previous surgical group and Dr. Trad took on my case knowing I would likely need lots of follow-up care. He came up with a creative solution and coordinated a two-day surgical plan with Interventional Radiology. Dr. Trad and his Physician's Assistant, Paul Marino assured me that they would be available to me anytime and they've kept their promise! I feel blessed to have them on my medical team and I highly recommend them! At Reston Hospital, Dr. Trad and Paul Marino are clearly well loved by the staff and many of them shared with me the surgeries they performed on them personally or their family members. If I could rate him extra stars, I would in a heartbeat!

Karen Hunter: Dr. Trad, his Physician Assistant Paul Marino and his entire team are amazing! Not only is he a very skillful, knowledgeable surgeon, he takes time to explain and reassure you of his care for you. The whole team is very compassionate. I am a person that reads reviews and I don’t take them lightly. My experience from beginning to end moved me to write this review. I would highly recommend Dr. Trad and his entire team!

Cassandra Holland: Dr. Trad and his Physician Assistant Paul Merino are excellent. They really care about their patients, explain everything in layman terms and are always willing to answer any questions.

Darren Walker: Dr. Trad performed a hernia operation on me a few years ago. Dr. Trad, his team, and the Physician Assistant (Paul) were all top notch. Their sense of caring and professionalism made me comfortable during the entire medical process. I would highly recommend Dr. Trad and his team for any procedures that he performs. Thank you Dr. Trad

Eugene Pickarz: My spouse had a very complicated gastric repair surgery. Dr Trad was spot on with his diagnosis and recovery protocol. Recovery is very difficult but his response and intervention throughout was very timely and accurate. I too am facing surgery and without a doubt will go to Dr Trad.

M S: Wonderful surgeon and excellent bedside manner. I couldn't be happier. Performed a laparoscopic abdominal (hernia repair) operation. Explained the procedure, answered all my questions, and made me feel quite at ease. I interviewed a number of doctors and Dr Trad exceeded the wonderful recommendations of his colleagues across Virginia. Go with Dr. Trad!

Michele Brunngraber: Dr Trad was my surgeon and I literally had NO PAIN from any of my laparoscopic surgery. My bad back got messed up from lying on the operating table for too long, but that was all on me. Virtually no recovery. Thank you Dr. Trad

Dr. Gordon Hafner M.D.: what do users think?

Nariman Main: If there were more stars to give, I would give it to Dr. Hafner. He repaired a very complicated hernia for me when other surgeons didn’t want to get near me and sent me away. He is highly professional and down to Earth. He truly cares about his patience and actually listens to you even when you have thousands of questions like myself lol. Dr. Hafner you are the best and I would definitely send people your way to do your magic! -Nariman M

Mahendra Dalvi: It was my first visit with Dr. Gordon Hafner at fair oaks Inova office . I feel, he is very kind, humble and knowledgeable. Spent good amount of time to explain the health situation and make you comfortable. I had my surgery last week at Fairfax Inova and I am very grateful with all his staff for the complete communication through out my surgery. Doctor and his staff members are very kind and respectful. Thank you for all your help.

The GW Medical Faculty Associates: what do users think?

Matthew Henry: I don't understand all the negative reviews. This place is amazing. Doctor care across disciplines is coordinated, the MyDocs app has test results show up within minutes of getting your tests. There's a pharmacy here and you can get your prescriptions almost immediately. I've never experienced care so loving and kind.

Benjamin Rubelmann: If I could award zero stars, I would. After receiving numerous emails and texts about my appointment (and confirming from my end), my appointment was cancelled at 7:32am for a 7:45am check in today. I was on the elevator headed up to the office when I got the call cancelling my appointment. I went to discuss this matter with the check in staff, but they weren't even aware my PCP had cancelled and was not coming in! I had to actually inform them (which they then confirmed)!!! Life happens and I understand appointments need to be cancelled occasionally, but more notice is definitely required. I work, so rescheduling it for 1pm as they offered was not possible. Trust the reviews and look elsewhere for care if possible. Par for the course re the abysmal customer service in DC generally.
Response: Hi Benjamin, thank you for sharing your experience with us. As a patient, your concerns are important to us and we would like to learn more about this issue. Please feel free to reach out to our Patient Experience team at patientexperience@mfa.gwu.edu or 202-677-6620.

Emily Balyeat: If you need organized prescription management this is not the place to go. Terrible primary care. Over the past 3 years as a GW patient with internal medicine I've been following up after my appointments to point out mistakes a variety of different internal medicine doctors have made with my medication and I'm done with it. When I'm told a prescription is sent to a pharmacy the pharmacy never gets it. I've been told by doctors they can't figure out how to work their computers to print or send my prescription. They lost the paperwork for my neurological disorder. The patient portal, where you can reach out to doctors, I do not receive responses from for weeks. The dept phone line puts in "48 hour emergent requests," but I have never heard back from a doctor in that amount of time per that request.
Response: As a patient, your concerns are important to us. We want to help you solve your problem in a timely way. Please contact our Office of Patient Experience so they may troubleshoot these issues directly with you: patientexperience@mfa.gwu.edu or 202-677-6620.

Margaret Shrager: If I could give 0 stars, I would. I was scheduled for a surgery consult with Dr. Vargas (after months of waiting). When I got to my appointment, they told me it had been canceled and they didn't know the reason. I received no call, no email, no text message (except texts asking me to confirm my appointment). They gave me the number of Dr. Vargas' admin, who I called. She told me that Dr. Vargas was not going to be performing any more surgeries, so I was rescheduled with one of her colleagues in another month (keep in mind this was all for a surgery that was supposed to relieve severe pain, which is apparently totally fine to continue delaying). When I researched the colleague I had been rescheduled with, I learned she was an NP, not a surgeon. The doctors at GW have been okay in my experience... if you can manage to see one. On the day I was supposed to have my consultation, I arrived to find a long line of people who were at that point an hour late seeing their doctor and were waiting to reschedule for another time. This is by far the most disorganized medical system I've ever had the displeasure of working with. It's honestly disgraceful.
Response: As a patient, your concerns are important to us. We want to help you solve your problem in a timely way. Please contact our Office of Patient Experience so they may troubleshoot these issues directly with you: patientexperience@mfa.gwu.edu or 202-677-6620.

Sarah Pleznac: I’d like to thank Medical Faculty Associates for bringing me a little closer to G-d this weekend. I asked for prescription refills 4 days ago… and still no meds! This is excruciating in so many ways. Oh, and you can’t directly call these folks. You will always reach a call center after going through a phone tree and being on hold for an hour. You better love and get used to using their patient portal. That’s pretty much the only way you can communicate with them (communicate is a stretch, it’s more like screaming into the ether and praying for a response). Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

Melanie McDonough: I saw someone below say that they wish they could award 0 stars and I’d like to second that. Over a year ago, I went to GWMFA for a few visits. I didn’t have any issues, they were pleasant enough. But upon my second visit, I had an outstanding bill for a couple hundred dollars. I could not check in for my next appointment until it was paid even though I was fairly certain my insurance had covered this. A few days later, when I had some free time again, I looked into it more. They had indeed overcharged me. I called to get this taken care of but got the run around and was told to try my insurance. So I tried my insurance multiple times and ultimately learned that they would not reimburse me because it was GWMFA that had overcharged me, not them. I came back to GWMFA with this information and this is when I stopped getting any responses. They do not care at all. While this may seem like a trivial amount of money, for me this is a lot of money. It’s disappointing to see how little they care about the their patients. I enlisted the help of a health advocate who has been attempting to reach them since last year. Also no response. They have tried reaching out to the customer service rep Shanna via phone and email and have been completely ignored. They reached Darvis who told them they needed to talk to Shanna. Kind of hard to do when she’s blatantly ignoring us. Darvis provided them a generic billing email to request Shanna’s supervisor, which just seems like another way to ghost us. I would recommend going else where if you want the people treating you to actually care about you.

Madeline: I would advise anyone who is looking for a primary care physician to carefully consider other options before looking here. Over several years as a patient with GW Medical Faculty Associates, I spent hours on hold in the phone trees that other reviewers have described. As far as I can recall, I was only able to get through to a medical professional via phone once - and only after breaking down in tears with a call center employee. While I was never treated rudely by administrative or medical staff, I was routinely shocked by the level of dysfunction that occurred behind the scenes. I had prescriptions repeatedly sent to the wrong pharmacy despite clearly specifying my preferred pharmacy in each refill request. I had staff submit refill requests for the wrong medication even after multiple calls in which I spelled the name of the medication letter by letter. I once had to go several unpleasant days without a prescription after a refill request from my pharmacy received no response for nearly a week despite call after call. As a patient, I never received a phone number for my doctor's office. Every phone call went through a call center who would send "urgent requests" via a mysterious portal to my doctor. In my experience, those "urgent" requests could take days to receive a response. I endured frustration after frustration with this practice for several years simply because I didn't want to bother finding a new doctor, but when systemic administrative incompetence began to infringe on my sense of wellbeing, I knew it was time to move on. Ironically, the time I felt most respected and heard while a patient with this practice was when speaking with a patient experience representative to share these concerns after I decided to find a new doctor.

Katie Rourke: I called today to schedule a consult with a doctor in the Division of Gastroenterology since my Primary Care Doctor recommended a colonoscopy due to blood in my stool (I’m only 30 years old). I was told that their earliest opening to see any GI doctor was 7 MONTHS from now, in December 2022. That is insane, especially for something as important/time sensitive as a colon cancer screening.
Response: Hi Katie, As a patient, your concerns are important to us. We want to help you solve your problem in a timely way. Please contact our Office of Patient Experience so they may troubleshoot these issues directly with you: patientexperience@mfa.gwu.edu or 202-677-6620.

Caroline Barker: I would give zero stars if I could. This place is full of liars, scammers, and frauds. Forget about medical care - protect yourself from their harassing billing practices and DO NOT GO HERE. I have been getting bills for $1000 for over one year that I never owed. The doctor has been fighting with their billing department on my behalf and they still keep sending me bills. I have started the paperwork for a fraud claim with the FTC - they have one more week before I file - that is how severely outrageous my experience has been.

tami.worldmotivator: After a week in intensive care, I learned I experienced a thyroid storm. Drastic weight loss, no voice, migraines, stressing...was a hard few months. Then a dear friend recommended that I meet surgeon, Dr Joshi. His team was very responsive and personable. Even speaking with my thyroid doctor while I was sitting in his office. Through 2 surgeries within 3 months and many tests and visits, Dr Joshi removed my thyroid and repaired my vocal cords. He answered all of my husband's and my 100s of questions and was very reassuring. I honestly believe he cared. If you must have surgery (this was my 1st so I had high anxiety), consider Dr Joshi and his team. He restored my faith is medical care.

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital: what do users think?

Meia Harris: Comparing my visit to this ER with other hospitals in the area, this is the worst one yet. I was accompanying a sick family member to the ER when I began to have a severe panic attack. I was thus admitted for psychiatric care. I was fortunate enough to be admitted right away alongside my family member (we did arrive via EMS so I'm sure that had something to do with it). My nurse, I believe her name was McKayla, was the only positive during my stay. She was so kind, hardworking, and somehow managed to be attentive to my needs despite being very busy. Unfortunately the doctor did not come see me once, nor was I given any psychiatric assistance. In fact, my discharge documents showed alcohol intoxication as my reason for admittance. I wasn't aware that having a couple drinks earlier in the evening would cause them to assume I'm drunk. God forbid you have any mental illnesses- they apparently don't exist in this hospital. All they did was take my vitals twice over the course of about 3 hours and then I was discharged. Can't wait to get this bill in the mail! I spent a lot of time in the waiting room and I was extremely shocked at how the staff ignored patients. Women were moaning in pain and vomiting, but the nurses and techs didn't bat an eye. They casually conversed with each other and didn't seem in much of a rush to help anyone. I've never worked in a hospital so I am not aware of the nuances or how an ER operates, but this definitely did not feel right. I would suggest going to a different hospital if at all possible.

Renuka C: My experiences at Medstar have been very good so I keep coming back. The staff are efficient, the providers are knowledgeable and skilled. An outstanding patient-centered system where the doctors listen to your concerns and take their time to answer questions. I trust them to keep me healthy. A few parking options: hospital garage, paid street parking (up to 4 hours), and free street parking (2-hour max and about a 7 min walk). Highly recommend these professionals!
Response: Thank you so much, Renuka. It always means a lot when someone takes the time to let us know that they had a 5-star experience with us. We will surely share your kind words with our team. Thank you for your trust and for choosing MedStar Health!

N K: If I could give a million minus stars, I would. I’ve lived in many developing countries, I was always better treated or received better care than in this emergency room. People had seizures in front of me and other patients had to point out because nobody seemed to care. It’s unbelievable that this is a major private hospital in the capital of the richest country in the world!!!!! As stated in most comments here, I do not understand how this emergency room is allowed to operate!!
Response: Thank you for your review and feedback. We are very sorry for your experience. We are committed to our patients and would very much appreciate the opportunity to speak with you to discuss your concerns in greater detail. Please send us your contact information by filling out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We will do everything we can to help.

Mexi Lead: Came with my wife to receive care at around 6 pm and it's 11:30 pm and she's yet to be seen at the emergency room. The speed and lack of care is clear, it seems like the place and staff allow for the place to fill up without attending to people. We will most likely skip this ER in the future if possible given the lack of attention. The staff in the front desk seemed resigned to provide this type of delayed service, management truly needs to address these challenges and provide better health care service to its clients. Even her doctor called to try to speed up attention but that did not seem to help. If you are having an emergency, look at different options if you can.
Response: Thank you for sharing your concerns. We’re very sorry for your family's experience and understand how stressful it can be to wait to receive medical care. Our teams do their very best to treat our patients in a timely manner while providing the highest quality of care. We’d like to have a member of our team reach out to you and your wife to discuss your experience. If you’re willing, please fill out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to have the opportunity to speak with you soon.

william hutchinson: (edit: it took 9 hours to see a doctor. Got there at 8pm left at 6am.) told it would be a 3 hour wait. Told we could not leave for 2 hours and come back. Had better service at an Outback Steakhouse. At least Outback gives you a buzzer for when it’s your turn….
Response: Thank you for your review, William. We are very sorry for your experience when you came to us for care. We truly apologize for the long wait time and for any frustration. We'd like to reach out to you for more information so that we can look into this as soon as we can. Please fill out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon.

steven chapman: My wife had a 2 day surgery and will be staying in the hospital for a couple more days for recovery. The surgery center staff and her floor nurses were amazing, informative, and understanding. My issue is the hospitals ridiculous visitor policy of 11-7 and the front desk clerk that ran down the hall to stop me after 16 other workers said I’m good. On the first day we showed up at 8 for the survey and I wasn’t able to see her in her room until 6:45pm as that’s when the surgery/recovery wrapped up. I got a solid 15 minutes with her before having to leave. Next morning I wasn’t able to see her until 11am and they wheeled her out for surgery at 11:30. I grabbed some food at the chic-fil-a and sat outside at the picnic tables(didn’t have any to sit in over crowded waiting area for 6 hrs) near the surgery center. When the surgery wrapped up and they informed me she was heading back to the room, I was denied entrance by the front desk saying it’s their policy to not let guest leave and come back. I never left the campus and and was literally sitting where the whole staff goes outside for lunch, but had to go to the main entrance to get back in the building. I guess I could have just sat in her room alone for 6 hours but I didn’t think there is a lack of common sense in a facility where we were forced to visit because this is the only hospital her doctor preforms surgery in. Also traffic around the hospital and parking is a mess. But it’s cool because you have to pay for that excellent service.
Response: Steven, thank you for your review. We value your feedback and appreciate your taking the time to share it. We are very sorry that you were not satisfied with your experience. We always strive to do everything we can to make sure that our patients and their loved ones feel supported when someone is hospitalized. Alex E: Not sure what is going on but this ER is changing for the worst. My first two encounters were wonderful, I felt like my concerns were answered and I was comfortable. Yesterday I arrived with stomach issues and, long story short, was given a CT scan and bloodwork and then sent away without genuine answers. I still feel awful a day later. There are also way more beds now in the ER, which shows me MedStar is only concerned with money. The floors were filthy and the bedding had a stain!
Response: Alex, thank you for your feedback. While we're happy to hear that your past experiences have been great, it's disheartening that this was not the case during your most recent visit. We truly apologize and have shared your comments with the most appropriate leaders on our team. We'd like to reach out to you to discuss your concerns in greater detail. Please fill out our secure online patient feedback form so that we can be in touch as soon as we can: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon.

Virginia Donnelly: Personnel are Always professional and courteous. I trust the Doctors I encounter. I had breast cancerin 2012 went through lumpectomy, radiation and closely followed by my oncologist for more than 8 years. I have a friend whose 12 year old daughter who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at Childrens hospital. They took my advice and came to this hospital for a second opinion. They decided to continue her treatment at Georgetown Univ Hospital because of their communication, explanations and atmosphere with the child and parents. The child is happier, understands what is going on with her body and has been able to return to school.
Response: Virginia, we appreciate your kind words so much. We know that a cancer diagnosis can be very difficult. We always strive to do everything that we can to make sure that our patients and their families are receiving the best care and support. It's our honor to be here for you when you need us. We wish you and your friend the very best.

michelle Hargrave: Went in stating that I was possibly having a miscarriage...sat in ER and still received no help. I was having trouble staying conscious. I finally had the last straw and left after an older man came in via ambulance and he instantly went ahead of me because he had a small cut on his head...now mind you he was elderly but he never blacked out from his fall. He fell because Paramedics said he was drunk. So apparently a drunk man's life is more important than my unborn child.
Response: Michelle, thank you for your review. We are very sorry that you weren't satisfied with your experience. Our patients are our top priority and we are committed to doing everything we can to make sure that our patients receive timely care. We take your concerns seriously and would like to reach out to you as soon as we can for more information. Paulaa Mason: I wouldn’t suggest this hospital for young inexperienced first time black moms. I’m 28 and I was told this was a decent hospital however I was given poor care by the staff here. It was one point for 3 months I wasn’t seen by my doctor and was only getting ultrasounds monthly. I didn’t know any better or know I was supposed to see a doctor and the ultra sound people. However once I found out I made an appointment and was seen that day. The down side to it I got a VERY nasty nurse who did the bare minimum and even had an attitude. I understand they say that some students practice and are involved but I don’t need anyone learning anything trying to help me. Especially when I’m not fully aware of what’s going on. Even now I’m in my 7th month I’ve yet to get a proper due date, measure or weigh my baby or 70% of what I’ve recently learned should’ve been done by now. I just pray it doesn’t affect my son in the long run. I would switch hospitals but it’s too late and when I tried the place I was going said they had to start everything from scratch and that’s just a huge inconvenience. So if it’s your first child and you don’t know what to expect please don’t come here. These people don’t care, they just wanna collect their check and go home. (I also hate to be this way however I witnessed with my own eyes how the attitude of a white Women changed versus helping me. Than when a white couple came up who was after me and it was a major difference.) I asked to speak with the BOA but they said that department didn’t have one. And only said I could talk to a women was was in charge of the shift. However that was unhelpful and nothing was fixed. I’m extremely disappointed in the care I’ve been getting and the lack of help my child has been receiving
Response: Paulaa, thank you for your review and feedback. We are very sorry for your experience and would like to contact you as soon as we can so that we can make sure your concerns are addressed. High quality care is our top priority, and we are committed to treating each patient with the highest levels of respect and professionalism. It's very disheartening to hear that this has not been your experience. We take your concerns seriously. Please send us your contact information so that we can be in touch with you as soon as we can: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to have the opportunity to speak with you soon and will do everything we can to help.

Children's National Medical Nphlgy: what do users think?

Crystal Mullens: I try to call every year to speak with and thank the nurses who actually got us through the guilt, anguish and helped me stay sane during my stint at Children's. They were the best ever. They kept me sane while my son was so very ill. They went above and beyond and took excellent care of my son, Dawson. Jenn, Heather and Sarah. You all are the best ever. Our son has grown into a terror from hell and we love every moment of it.

Leah Thompson: I was nervous while driving in after seeing the low rating but I noticed most complaints were due to the time spent waiting. Well today I spent 11 hours in the ER and while that’s a crazy amount of time my son was so well taken care of that I don’t care. Every option was explored and there was no being referred to other places because all specialist are under one roof. 100% recommend making the trip into DC for child emergencies if you’re able. The staff was wonderful❤️

LeAnne Wheeler: I've visited this hospital several time and I have experienced several doctors and specialists and each and everytime has been excellent. ER wait times are long but they are long at every hospital but when it comes to children waiting 3 hrs+ is devastatingly long for any parent. My family and I have gotten quality care each time. I'm leaving off 1 star because they NEED more locations in Southern MD. Most of their specialists are located further North and driving from Southern MD to Silver Spring is a chore. It's a great hospital.

Chaturbhuj bhojwani: Very good hospital for children my daughter had a eye surgery here. She was the patient of Dr. Jaffar.

Patricia Carter: My 6 month old daughter got stuck with a needle 7 times because other places “couldn’t get a good stick” when we went here, she got it on the first stick, no problem. We were in and out, with hardly any fuss from the baby. Kathy Hawkins, specifically, was absolutely amazing. Extremely attentive to not only baby, but myself and her dad as well. If we ever need blood work done for our daughter, we will absolutely make the 2hr trip to come here again!

blahblahblah mememe: The waiting times are horrible. As other bad reviews said yeah, you are going to be waiting anywhere from 1-6hrs. One time I was literally only coming to get my son the flu vaccine. Nothing else nothing more. Just get the flu shot and go home.We were waiting after being put in the patient room, for 3hrs. It was a nightmare. I was so disappointed because...hello!! ppl have lives and things to do. But my regular visits for my new baby have been an hour and a half. Today we had appt at 2:50pm left out 4:30pm so bout an hour and a half. Emergency room hours man when my son was a baby I remember being in the hospital for hours like 5+hrs. This was years ago before covid. So yeah you're always going to be disappointed with the waiting time. Other than that staff are friendly, polite, apologetic so they understand the wait is crazy. Idk I think it's just severely understaffed. You can't make more ppl become doctors. That's something most ppl can't afford and don't have the patience or even the real mindset to do so we kind of just gotta roll with the punches. I try to keep a patient attitude cus if I don't I'd be very aggressive and irritable. And that doesn't speed anything up or make the situation any less negative. So go in with a positive attitude and deep amount of patience.

Kristina Tipps: My 3 year old had a T&A last week and majority of the experience, particularly the recovery period, was not handled well. First, signage inside and outside the hospital is terrible. I drove around 3 times before calling to have someone guide me to the parking garage (she obviously had done that many times before). Once you get inside, you are told to go to the second floor surgical check in center, no one tells you that you must check in first on the first floor. There are no signs for the surgical center whatsoever. You'll need to flag down a staff member in the hall to lead you there. How can a hospital not have clear signs? All the parents are walking around aimlessly looking for where they need to go. I was told ahead of time that I'd have to stay overnight for my daughter to be monitored. This was fine. However, it was never explained that this overnight stay was as an outpatient in a recovery center. That is TOTALLY DIFFERENT than being admitted to a hospital room. The recovery center has curtain doors on one side of each room (fine for a staying a few hours). The nurse said she would try to find a room with a door for us, since we would be there overnight. A room with a door meant that one side of the room was a clear sliding glass door with a very thin curtain over it so all the light shines in the room. The bed that my 3 year old had to sleep in constantly vibrated, filled with air and then released the air. She was absolutely terrified of the bed and wouldn't sleep in it. I asked for another and was told I wasn't allowed to have a regular bed that didn't move because this one stimulated the muscles. What does that even mean for my daughter who had tonsil surgery??? So she slept on me the entire night...same thing as sleeping in a regular bed so it made no sense. Not to mention there was a loudspeaker on the wall so any announcement in the recovery center went booming through our room! How do you expect a 3 year old, or anyone, to rest and recover like that? Someone really needs to explain to parents that an overnight stay is not a hospital stay and there is nowhere to sleep, your child's bed will move the whole night, and you'll constantly be awakened to beeping machines and loudspeaker announcements. The nurse also accused me of removing the wires on her blood pressure cuff, which I did not do! Everytime she moved the wire would snap off the cuff and cause the machine to send a blaring beep throughout the room. Half of the time no one came to check on us, which is the whole point of the loud beeping alert! I would need to put my kid down on the bed she was terrified of to find someone, hoping she didn't freak out while I was gone. The ECT wires also kept falling off when she moved, so we had the same problem with that. After a few times, I watched how the nurses stopped the machine from beeping and started doing that myself. When they said discharge was 5am, I could not have been happier. I sat in the chair the entire night counting down the minutes and pausing the monitor alerts. There were other small things that I won't get into, but hopefully what I did say will help another parent plan better for their surgical experience.

Jennifer Alvarado: Best hospital for childrens. My daughter has had 56 surgeries during her 4 years of life, and everyone has been wonderful! I love Childrens hospital. From specialty doctors to pediatricians, nurses, radiology, clerks, social workers and other workers have been great! I love this hospital and will always be grateful! Parking is a little tough at times so it’s better to always leave an hour before your appointment. Thank you Childrens hospital.

Lisa Taylor: The “1” review is only because of our wonderful nurses. Poor attending gastroenterologist and resident problem-solving and diagnostics. They didn’t verbally communicate critical MRE results. Infection control issues with C-Diff after testing and “see it all the time there”…sanitize your equipment! Significant financial hardship with med school level care!

Marbel Panameno: I took my son there because he’s had a bad cought and the place was so dirty and there was even vomit on the floor and it took them over 10 mins to come clean it up. You would think the attention towards children would be good after all it’s called children’s but its bad and it took for ever to be seen, We waited over an hour in the emergency room before they brough us in…. Overall if I would have known about the attention in this hospital I would have taken my son elsewhere, not going there again.

George Washington University Hospital: what do users think?

Barbara Thompson: For the past 2 months, I have been fortunate enough to be seen at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. I am new to Washington DC, so it is the first time I have experienced the level of care that goes on there. Because I have several physical issues to deal with, I am at the hospital a couple of times a week. The Doctors have been able to diagnose and begin treatment for .a couple of major physical issues that I have. The Physical Therapy team that is working with me is showing me great kindness and patience. There is a confidence and optimistic feeling among the staff that permeates the hospital. You can’t help but feel better after spending time with this crew. I have never felt so comfortable in a hospital before, or looked forward to going to it! I am so grateful for the professionalism and the knowledge that the doctors and nurses have. I am looking forward to healing in a better life because of their care. So to the doctors, nurses, therapists and the rest of the staff, please know how much we appreciate all the hard work that you do for us. You are greatly appreciated and loved! Barb Thompson
Response: Hi, Barbara. It means the world to us that you took time out of your day to leave us this great feedback. Thank you, and we hope you have a pleasant day.

Eddie Bennett: I used to come here all the time and the service used to be great! Now you sit in the waiting room for mad hours. The triage nurse shows no empathy and sympathy for the patients that are as true and dying pain. I sat here tonight and watch how a guy came in mad jokes and all fist let me mention he came hours after me and he got pulled to the back and now is gone. There was another young lady that's been in the waiting room for over 24 hours. Sad! I had the first triage nurse said she was going to give me some pain meds and hook me to an ivy . Nothing has happened yet. I came in due to the fact I can keep nothing down. I'm having an anxiety attack as I wait for endless hours. My pain is getting worse by the moment. Something has to been done about the service and treatment. As I write this there are three triage nurses sitting in a huddle I will definitely going to Medstar Urgent Care in the future.
Response: Eddie, we take your feedback very seriously and would like to learn more about your concerns. Should you wish to speak with a representative in more detail, please provide us with your contact information by visiting https://rptn.io/AOfMOVABcAb. Thank you.

Jackie Wlodarczyk: I went in with an issue with my eye because it would not open. I obviously was not able to see much at all. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they guided me so I would not run into anyone or anything. I was seen by a medical student, a resident, and an ER doctor almost immediately. They were all very nice and were quick and efficient in order to cause me the least amount of pain possible. The student and resident were extremely nice and provided me with as much information as possible. The only downside was that it took a really long time for the head doctor to approve my discharge paperwork. Which I kind of understand since it is an emergency room, but at that point I just really wanted to leave and go home. I eventually just left on my own after waiting an hour and a half for the head doctor to sign it. But overall, the staff really made the experience great.
Response: Hi, Jackie. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such great feedback. We're glad to hear you found our staff to be so friendly and helpful. Take care!

LyshaReneéTV: From the time of my consultation to the time I had my surgery the nurses and doctors were excellent! They made sure at all times I had everything I needed. Throughout my consultation, the doctor was very informative of my issues and well informative about my options. During my surgery, it did start an hour late but throughout my time waiting the doctors still made sure that I was comfortable and the job got done. I would definitely recommend!
Response: Thank you for your kind words, Lyshareneétv! Shout-outs like this are so meaningful to our team and we will be sure to pass your comments along. Thank you again and take care!

Frank Roth: I was extremely ill and the care and dedication of the Medical Teams was outstanding. The Pulmonary and Infectious Disease teams were amazing in finding out what was going on and getting me on the road to recover. I also can't say enough about the whole nursing staff on 4 North. They are beyond amazing, especially Deborah. I was so lucky and blessed to have such a great team of nurses who made me feel comfortable and treated me as if they were treating their own family! Much love!!
Response: Hi, Frank. Your feedback is important to us and we really appreciate you taking the time to share it with us. Thank you for the kind words and we hope you are doing well. Take care!

Joy D Murphy: When my Mother arrived to the GWU Hospital, she was in critical shape. The Medical Team in the ER worked on my Mother, took X-rays, CT Scans, etc., and took excellent care of her until she was admitted to a floor. Once my Mother was admitted to a floor, the entire Nursing Staff on 5 South, the physician assistants and the doctors took great care of my Mother. They were very informative, helpful, professional and most of all caring. This was my Mother's first time every visiting this hospital and I would have her go there again if she needed to. My family and I are so grateful for giving her all of the antibiotics and the professional care she need. Thank you GWU Hospital from the bottom of my families hearts!! Keep up the excellent work you are doing!!
Response: Hi, Joy D Murphy. Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words with us! Compliments such as these are held very dear to our hearts. We’re currently working on a staff recognition campaign and would like to share your kind words with our community. Jessy Manuel: The staff had excellent bedside manner and were comforting and kept me well informed. I was very nervous as I had a prior surgery after which I woke up in horrible pain. I told the anesthesiologist and he reassured me before the procedure and stayed with me until I was in recovery to make sure that did not happen. Highly recommended.
Response: Thank you for the five stars, Jessy!

Vonda Lewis: I had in and out surgery here last week and I was really nervous but once I checked in and was called to the back to get prepped for it. My nurse came in then the doctors who were doing the surgery came in and introduced themselves and then their assistant and so on. I was like I really feel welcomed and at ease a little. When I got to the surgery room the room was nice and cozy they had soft music playing, everyone was so very nice and at that time I knew I was in good hands. I was not nervous anymore. From the time I switched doctors GW has always been on point with everything! I would definitely recommend this hospital and the doctors to any and everyone! They get 5/10 stars from me! Thanks GW😊
Response: Hi, Vonda. It is very thoughtful of you to leave us such positive comments. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We hope you are doing well!

Leandra Brown: I just recently gave birth at GWU and I had an amazing experience. From the check in process to discharge and everything in between, I felt well taken care of. The Midwives are incredible! They are all so kind and knowledgeable and really attentive to your needs. I couldn’t be happier. All of the Nurses I worked with during Labor and after were awesome! They were super helpful and took such good care of me! Even though they had their hands full with lots of other patients, they were still very attentive, constantly checking in to see if I needed anything. I also loved working with the Lactation Consultant. She was so supportive and encouraging and I learned so much from her. It was such a pleasure working with her. I appreciate all of the staff (it’s impossible to name them all) for making my experience a great one.
Response: Hi, Leandra. Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words with us! Compliments such as these are held very dear to our hearts. Maury Edwards: Nursing staff were very caring and attentive, I would rate them five stars. However, they were definitely understaffed. My procedure required almost hourly post-op supervision, but that was a challenge give the nurses' workload. Post-op I was very alert and able to take care of myself to a certain extent, and I did so as much as possible to aleviate the burden on hospital staff. Someone in more critical condition definitely needs a caregiver to stay with them. Some items were in short supply: nurses scrambled to keep me supplied with 3L bags of saline and it took about 12 hours for me to get a pillow. Checking out was slow. The guy in the room beside me waited over 3 hours for release. Mine wasn't quite that long, but only because I kept gently nudging my nursing team.
Response: Hi, Maury. Thank you your review and for bringing your concerns to our attention. We'd like to follow up with you directly so that we can further address them. MedStar Washington Hospital Center: what do users think?

Chaturbhuj bhojwani: I believe this is the best hospital in Washington DC Compare with other hospitals. Unfortunately waiting time is so much here cannot explain. This location needs major renovation more facilities for patients and staff.
Response: Thank you for your review, Chaturbhuj. We're happy to hear that you have had positive experiences with us. We value your feedback and will share it with our leadership team so that we can make improvements in the future. Thank you for choosing us for your care. We wish you the best!

Hannah: Was flown into the emergency department after a major hemorrhage, post-tonsillectomy that left me unable to stop throwing up large amounts blood. The ER team got me straight into a room, explained everything they were doing, and made sure I was comfortable. My primary ER nurse, Raquel, was incredibly helpful. In less than 10 minutes after my arrival the resident ENT, Dr. Randolph, came to exam me and was very kind and had excellent bedside manner. He collaborated on my treatment plan with my surgeon and communicated everything to me and my mom. After a few hours I was admitted to the hospital in my own room. They allowed my mom to stay the night with me since I am under 26 years old. My nurse, Mary Kate, was incredible. She made sure me and my mom were comfortable, that I wasn’t in too much pain, and was very very sweet! The next morning Dr. Randolph came back to discharge me. Every nurse, doctor, and staff member I encountered there was great - which is very meaningful considering I was in such rough shape. Great medical team. Wait times were a bit long at times, but as to be expected in a hospital.
Response: Hannah, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are so glad that we could be here for you when you needed us, especially during what must have been a very frightening situation. We will surely share your kind words with our team. Thank you for your trust and for choosing us for your care. We hope you are doing better and wish you the best!

Johniece Robinson: Don’t let these people lie to you this by far the worst hospital ever! Back in the day it was okay but I don’t know what happened over the years. I’ve watched my sister have the worst labor and delivery. The doctors was unprofessional they even had students practice on the patients. They barely clean, sanitize my sisters room, if it’s supposed to be COVID why nobody not doing they’re job! I was so irritated and annoyed for my sister. She came in the hospital Great left out with a fever. The nurses will get irritated if we ask them a question, they will take along time to respond to us if we call for them it was just too much I felt so bad. Hopefully in the future they will have better doctors and more professional nurses. I will go more into details but I’m not! Just hope In the future things will be so much better and more professional
Response: Johniece, thank you for your review and feedback. We are very sorry for your sister's experience with us. We take your concerns very seriously and would like to reach out to you or her as soon as we can for more information. Please fill out our secure online patient feedback form so that we can reach out as soon as possible: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon and will do everything we can to help.

Julio Argueta: It was the worst experience in a hospital, my daughter was on surgery for 6 hours, and no one come to me and let me know how was everything, not even after the surgery, in other cases I saw doctors come and tell there family how was everything and that everything went well. But not in my case and not even the receptionist could tell us anything not even where she was. Until 10 hours later when my daughter called me and send me a picture of the board information that she can verily see. That was the only way that I could see her. They ask her if she wants to see a minister, she told them that she wanted to see me because her father was a minister but they didn’t let me in, she stay overnight and now I am her outside waiting until 11:00 they won’t let me in until visit hours, even when she ask for me. Her father. We are used to have a better treatment. Georgetown is the best hospital. For sure….
Response: Julio, we understand that having a loved one in the hospital can be difficult and emotional. We're very sorry to hear that you have not been satisfied with your family's experience. We'd like to reach out to you as soon as we can to see if there's anything we can do to help and support you. If you're willing, please send us your contact information by filling out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon and will do everything we can to help.

joy adona: My sister was a patient at this hospital just recently. She had chest pain and fainted while working. She was brought to the emergency room department and had the worst experience since. The nurse who took care of her yelled at her when she was asking for something, she could not move at all and needed assistance getting what she needed. She was not treated with respect, her privacy was violated. She was in pain and did not receive anything to manage it. Her calls were ignored. It is hard enough to be in pain more so being treated rudely while dealing with it. The nurses’ priority should be the provision of safe and quality patient care. My sister just experienced the opposite.
Response: Joy, thank you for sharing your review. We are very sorry for your sister's experience with us. We take your concerns seriously and would very much like to speak with her regarding these issues. Please ask her to fill out our secure online patient feedback form so that we can contact her as soon as we can: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with her soon and will do everything we can to help.

Greer Dog Adventures: The front desk and security are horrible. No compassion, no empathy, unhelpful, and always have an attitude. They will give you different information policy than the doctors and nurses, and it is not always correct. If you can get past that, the other staff is gracious, kind, compassionate, and helpful. Mask mandate in effect. Normal visiting hours vary from 11a-6p to 2p-7p. Only one person PER DAY. Palliative care visiting hours are 24/7 under order of provider. Two people are allowed at a time, and they can switch with other documented visitors.
Response: Thank you for your review and feedback. While we're happy to hear that you had a positive experience with some of our team members, it's very disappointing to hear that this was not the case throughout your visit. We'd like to reach out to you for more information regarding your concerns. If you're willing, please fill out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon and will do everything we can to help.

Naya -Monet: April front desk at suite 108 for pregnant women had a really nasty attitude talked to me any kind of way no greeting busy speaking to co-workers while speaking to me must be really miserable. She definitely needs more training on people/communication skills if you don’t like your job don’t work there simple. In the hallway while I was waiting for feedback I even overheard other patients complaining about her attitude which sucks. She needs to learn the basics of patient care fire her or have her get more training .
Response: Naya, thank you for your review. We're very sorry for your experience and would like to reach out to you for more information as soon as we can. We expect all members of our team to treat our patients with the highest levels of kindness and professionalism. If you're willing, please fill out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon.

Jade Dawson: I had a very good labor and delivery experience here via c section, as I could not labor naturally with my midwife as planned for several reasons. I labored naturally here until 7cm and I’m so glad all I had to do was pace my breathing. They took wonderful care of me, knew how and when to manage my pain before I realized it myself. The low stress of this resulted in a calm trust when it came to the c section. Will come again for the next baby!

D Brace: If I could give this hospital zero stars I would. I arrived to this hospital because TRICARE referred me. I waited 2 hours in the ER and when I asked about seeing a physician I was rudely spoken to and told it would take 10 hours before someone could come out and speak to me about the results of a CT scan. If you are active duty military and need treatment at the ER, do NOT go to this sorry excuse of a hospital. I was sure to make a complaint. Absolutely disgusting to treat our servicemen like this! I wouldn't wish this place on an enemy. The nurses talk to you in a very degrading way and are very unprofessional towards people who need information or just have questions.
Response: Thank you for your review and feedback. We're very sorry for your experience when you came to us for emergency care. We have shared your comments with our emergency department leaders, but would like to reach out to you for more information so that we can take the best corrective action. Please send us your contact information by filling out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon.

Monserrate Caballero (Mons): Horrible Facility. My daughter arrived and needed emergency services. She waited 8 hours. Never to be seen. She went back for 3 days in a row. When they finally ran test, they didn't run all the tests needed. I only gave one star because it's needed to write a review. She also got hung up on by an incompetent employee who doesn't understand insurance.
Response: Thank you for your review and feedback. We're very sorry for your daughter's experience and would like to follow up with the both of you for more information and see if there is anything we can do to help. If you’re willing, please fill out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you both soon.

Sibley Memorial Hospital: what do users think?

Anna Katt: We just arrived home from receiving excellent care from Sibley’s Labor and delivery department. Everyone involved at every stage of the process was so kind and helpful, including the room service staff and environmental services. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to support us during the process of welcoming our first. Really appreciate all of it considering the current challenges faced by health care professionals during this pandemic.

Erin Taylor: I had such an amazingly positive experience at the Sibley ER yesterday and had to write a review. The triage nurses were really fantastic and caring. They stayed calm even though it was a hectic day and they were so kind. I especially appreciated them because I passed out in the ER and they were so kind when waking me up and helping me feel better. The ER nurses (Alex and Liz) were amazing! So helpful and kind and attentive. They really lightened my mood because they were so kind and caring. They also took the time to explain everything to me and really make sure I was okay. This was amazing to me because I knew the ER was very busy that day. The doctor, Dr. Eltaki, was absolutely fantastic. She was so smart and caring and made me feel really cared about and important. She also really took the time to explain things to me. I really really appreciated her!

Ronald Willis (Toke Masta): This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at an emergency room. But still very worthy of 5 stars. I was in at 9:30a. They drew blood at 10:15a. I didn’t get into a room until about 4p. I watched literally every person in the lobby get called back before me. By the time I go in a room. There were no familiar faces. A supervisor came out around 3:15. And I explained to her what I came for. And how long I had been waiting. She assured me she would look into it. And about 45 min later, I had a room. Once in the room. The nurses jumps into action. I got my cat scan. Nothing unusual. And they did what they needed to do. Once complete. I did have to wait an unusually long time for my discharge papers. But when I asked what was going on, I was out within 10 minutes. The staff was very overwhelmed but the people, the attitudes, the trash talking. But nobody lost patience. Everyone did the best they could. And even though it took a while. I left happy and satisfied with how the day was spent. Kudos to the entire ER staff at SMH! Thank you!

Teri Coates: I normally don't write reviews but I had to take a moment to voice my appreciation for this facility and their services. We delivered our son at Sibley in December 2021 and had a wonderful experience. The facility is beautiful and clean, the doctors and staff are extremely professional and caring, and they went to great lengths to customize my and our baby's care based on our specific needs. PS - This is not a factor in choosing a hospital but the food is delicious. I thought we would order delivery food daily but we ended up not wanting to because the choices and quality exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend Sibley to anyone looking for a clean facility, professional and caring staff, and an overall enjoyable labor and delivery experience. Thank you Sibley!

Karen Luttrell: I just has surgery here at this hospital. My third surgery in 5 months due to breast cancer, but the first time I had surgery at this location. The staff in both pre-op and post-op went above and beyond to take care of me. My anesthesiologist was fantastic. I generally get very sick from anesthesia, but not this time. I greatly appreciate courtesy, kindness and care I received. I would highly recommend them!

Lazaro Solorzano Jr (LLL1424): I use to love this hospital but after yesterdays experience with my mother, never again! She came in with intense coughing and were informed of a 4 hour wait. We know there's a world wide pandemic going on so we agreed to the wait. 4 hours became 10 HOURS. She got x-rayed after 5 hours and we had to wait 5 hours for results. RIDICULOUS. HORRIBLE communication. No ones name was called for 1.5 hour periods. There was a girl in the room with intense pain that was not attended for (she was black) and this young white male comes in with a fever and he gets seen immediately with BOTH his parents in the waiting room and sent to the back. My mom got treated poorly because she couldn't speak English while doing her x-ray but the rude technician. 3 PEOPLE LEFT AFTER WAITING 5 HOURS. Heres the kicker, the security officer on site during the evening in the ER is a terrible human being. My dad was with my mom and I was translating and after 9.5 hours of waiting, this "security officer" decides to enforce a rule we were unaware of especially since we were there for 9 hours......the rule was "only one person per patient being seen". We completely understand but why enforce this after 9 hours. We were so drained. Why wasn't this communicated and enforced to the other family? I will NEVER recommend this place again. Do better. Communicate with your patients outside waiting, attend to those who are pleading for assistance. BE CONSISTENT. EVEN DURING A PANDEMIC. DO BETTER.
Response: Hi Lazaro - we're sorry to read about your experience and appreciate the opportunity to resolve concerns and learn about ways we can improve our services and communication. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by filling out this form: https://jhmsecure.johnshopkins.edu/the_johns_hopkins_hospital/services_amenities/form.html, or, if you would like to speak with them, please call 202-537-4267, M–F, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Dee Domingos: This hospital is beautiful! Although the ER wait time to get a room was a little long, everything else was worth it. My dad was a cancer patient here and stayed for 2 weeks before being transferred to a hospice center. The food is delicious! I stayed every night for 2 weeks and they never had an issue with it! The doctors that worked with my dad were absolutely great! They listened to everything he had to say and WANTED to make him feel better no matter how much time it would take. All the doctors were friendly, caring, upfront and treated you like we were royalty! The nurses.. WOW! I've never met a group of nurses who truly care about their patients. Sophie, Mary, Lola, Maddie, and Gracie are a dream team to have! These women truly are angels! You can see they love their job and taking care of the patient to all extremes! They made my dad feel so safe during his stay. We can't rave enough about them but they deserve to be recognized for how amazing they are! We had a great experience here! Not all hospitals will be perfect, and wait times are normal, but to find a group of doctors, nurses and great food.. now that's hard to come by! Thank you all for everything you did for my dad and our family!

Karen Carney: My son had to have his appendix removed on Thanksgiving morning! Everyone we dealt with was cheerful and helpful. The surgeon was top notch. The hospital was a great facility. We couldn't have been happier.

Emalee Jimenez: This hospital needs to be seriously investigated for negligent patient care and no standards of cleanliness. This is a liability and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been sued for negligence in patient deaths. I will be contacting more people because of this. Took my friend to the ER because she was having extreme abdominal pain that probably occurred because of a gluten allergy attack. The staff kept asking if she had drank or smoked weed recently, probably trying to really push to see if it was just a hangover. The staff was extremely rude and aggressive and caused her even more pain at times. The ER was less than half empty when we were there but somehow they took 2 hours just to give her an IV. As they were getting blood samples I guess the phlebotomist was too lazy to get a separate cart so she just used our table with all our personal belongings on it to do her blood work. The picture shown was AFTER the lady took the 4 blood viles off the table. She looked confused and didn’t know which vile went in which bag , and even got BLOOD on the table near our stuff!! Didn’t bother to clean up the spilt blood. I had to wait another hour just to get somebody’s attention to ask for gloves and wipes to clean it up myself. After 3 hours, and complaining about 2 or 3 times, they gave her morphine. Still rough and aggressive. We were fed up and just told them we wanted to be discharged. We waited another HOUR AND A HALF. At this point we’ve been in the ER for 4.5 hours. Nothing was done. Nobody was helping. Still haven’t seen any doctor. We pulled out the IV ourselves and walked out and went to another hospital. Wasted so much time and actually caused more pain. Please don’t come here
Response: Hi Emalee - we appreciate the opportunity to resolve concerns and learn about ways we can improve our services. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by filling out this form: https://jhmsecure.johnshopkins.edu/the_johns_hopkins_hospital/services_amenities/form.html, or by calling 410-955-2273, M–F, 8:30a to 5p.

elijah: I’ve always had positive experiences at sibley but not this time. I’ve been sitting in the er for 9 and a half hours. I’ve had my blood drawn and and IV put in and left to sit in the waiting room this whole time. I am an amputee (amputation done at Sibley) and I have an infection. I was admitted last week for 3 days for IV antibiotics and sent home with 5 days of oral antibiotics even though I told them I cannot take oral. I vomited the oral antibiotics for 5 days and am back at the hospital because my infection is still there. Everyone that came into the er after me is gone. They say they are going by acute cases but leaving me in the er for almost 10 hours (and counting) makes me feel like I don’t matter. I’m extremely upset and feel neglected.
Response: Hi Elijah - we appreciate the opportunity to resolve your concerns. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by filling out this form: https://jhmsecure.johnshopkins.edu/the_johns_hopkins_hospital/services_amenities/form.html, or, if you would like to speak with them, please call 410-955-2273, M–F, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thank you.

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center: what do users think?

shelly morgan: Absolutely love this place! If anything is going to keep me here it's going to be Walter Reed. Amazing care from the Dr's down to the administration everyone is very caring. What was taking my last Dr to try and diagnose in Oklahoma over 8 months my Dr here found the issue in just 1 visit and we went forward with a rigorous treatment plan and it's only been 2 days and I can read again with severe pain! So grateful for everyone here! Also absolutely love the many people that play such beautiful music on the open to anyone piano. This is such a relaxing thing to listen to while waiting for prescriptions.

London Couture Salon: I’m going to announce that sadly this is not a good review. I wish I could have said something different. I’ve been trying to get an appointment there for over a month now. I’ve made more than 10 calls and it’s back to square one every time. After much observation, I realize that No one there knows anything about the system nor do they communicate with each other from one department to another. That has been made evident as I have left messages, presented referral information, filled out forms and spoke to the manager and coordinators. I don’t know what is going on there but I have lost confidence in their ability to help my daughter who urgently needs care.

Jacqui Thomas: Unfortunately, we often tend to only post a review when we've had a not so great experience; however, I wanted to take a minute and share a positive one! On Christmas day, I was seen by the ER for a previous eye injury. The staff was very professional, kind and compassionate. I ended up having to be seen by the on-call Ophthalmologist (Dr. Cox) who kindly came in to further assess my injury. He too was wonderful, knowledgeable and super kind! I'm a retired vet as well as a southern girl and have always thought about relocating down south but the above reasons are a few of the main reasons that keeps me in this area...Walter Reed Bethesda, in my opinion, has always been top-notch when it comes to providing unsurpassed healthcare to its active duty as well as veterans, like myself!

Michaela Layne: I’m a nurse and I’m appalled at how this place runs. Currently here and my husband is having a major 4-6 hour surgery and I’m not allowed to go back to anesthesia holding with him to ask questions per Covid restrictions. An employee just pointed me in the direction of surgery waiting room and said it’s right there. Nothing like you will get a call, here is a number to watch a board to show where he is at, someone will update etc. all because of Covid restrictions. I work at the largest Level 1 trauma center in Virginia and our Covid policies are 10x better than here. Also, their “updated” Covid policy is from December 2021. Not acceptable.

C H: Not only is it a pain to drive 2 hours away as active duty but the service and care is not good at all. The hoops you have to go through just to get an appointment and you have to keep reaping just to get another appointment or service. I completely understand what our Veterans go through because as an active duty serviceman it has been a nightmare dealing with medical centers in Maryland. We have preferences and the service is still mediocre. The fact that you can talk to someone there, have a problem and them not care how to help you take care of it is the reason why service member HATE dealing with medical. Nothing has changed for me in over 20 years!

Lawrence Westcott: My visit with Dr. Oyakhi Omoike in physical therapy and Dr. Abraham Sabersky in Nerosurgery was one of the most pleasant and productive medical experiences that I have had in some 72 years. Dr. O took the time to explain my situation after my recovery and physical therapies that I all ready received. He is very good and I would recommend him to anyone. Dr. Sabersky was my surgeon for surgery on my spine last year and all my followups with him have been outstanding. He is a great surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you Dr. Sabersky and Dr Omoike, Lawrence Westcott

James Morrison: This facility is never available to contact. It took a month of hassling and pestering to schedule an appointment for a floroscopy. Was told to go to Kimbrough for the shot, then walter reed for the MRI. Kimbrough says they don't do the floroscopy shot, it's all done at Walter Reed. Called the radiology dept. at Walter Reed to get the issue sorted out and sat on the phone for nearly an hour with no response. The issue still remains and there is no direction on how to reschedule since nobody will pick up a phone or answer an email.

Anita Wright: I always have a good experience whenever I go there for an appt. The staff is friendly and cares about my treatment and overall health. Also it's location is ideal since you can get there on the metro.

Ananda Owens: Great service here, they are the epitome of a professional health care experience. Very kind and attentive workers.

Ashley Albin-Szumowski: Currently pregnant with my first and being seen at the OB clinic here. Communication is absolutely shameful. Was told I would receive a call about some test results. Waited two weeks so as to not be impatient before calling to ask and was told that those results couldn't be discussed over the phone (???). That was after having waited hours to be called back since, for all the times I've called the nurse's line, I've had an actual human pick up exactly once. Lady on the phone also told me I could find the results online, where it ended up saying that the results were posted elsewhere (???). Called back immediately after, of course to no answer. Left a message, which the machine assured me would be returned within the next 72 hours. It was never returned. Ended up not getting the test results until the next in person appointment about a month later. If that's what I'd known would happen from the start, fine, but I was told otherwise and was incredibly stressed about it waiting for a response as a result. Tried to call the patient relations line after this experience. Suitable to the care I'd received thus far, no one picked up. Got a call back a few hours later that I was unable to answer. Called back when I could, left another message, and (surprise!) never received a call back. Over the weekend I tried to sign up for their prenatal classes, but the website to do so didn't seem to be functioning correctly. Of course, there was no pertinent contact info on the page (just the number for the hospital as a whole), no direct phone number or email. So I called the number that was there, got transferred to a department that has absolutely nothing to do with the classes, got transferred from there to a machine asking me to leave a message with goodness knows who. Decided to call the OB desk, wherein the lady who picked up seemed immediately annoyed to have to answer the phone and quickly dismissed me over to the nurse's line. This is the one and only time a person has actually picked up. The excitement of that was short lived since she told me that she also didn't know anything to do with the classes. She took down my information and said someone would call me back. While this was only a little bit ago, I have little to no hope about actually receiving a call back and being able to attend any classes. Oh, and that's to say nothing of the time I called their 'emergency line' ("acute care clinic") and didn't receive a call for about 4 or 5 hours, at which point I was already in the Emergency Room with an IV in my arm. I'd say that the quality of care has been atrocious, but that might imply that there was any care present at all. Dealing with this hospital has caused far more stress than the pregnancy itself. Here's hoping I can get my care transferred because I truly just can't stand dealing with them anymore.

Virginia Hospital Center Physician Group: what do users think?

Martha Fishbein: Extremely poorly run practice. Very sketchy billing. Coded my annual exam improperly according to my insurance policy. When asked by the insurance company to correct the incorrect coding, the billing department ignored the request. Charged me $250 and threatened me with a collection agency for a service that is covered 100% by my policy. Wrote to the chief medical officer regarding the incorrect coding and inappropriate charge and heard nothing back. Will look for another primary care practice that is run with honest billing practices and better communication skills. One star is for the nurse practitioner who was excellent and maybe unaware of the what’s happening in the billing department.

Jinwoo Hwang: They charge you for the full amount that you'd have to pay without insurance even if you do have insurance. I was never asked about my insurance details during the visit, but I still made sure my insurance information is on file. They still charged me the full non-insurance amount! I messaged the billing customer service desk on the patient portal, and it says they saw my message but they ignored it. They do not answer calls. Absolutely horribly run practice.

Karan Sood: I recently when to the practice for an annual physical. They drew blood but did not post me on the results for a while. When I enquired, I was told the following: "Computer has deleted the orders of the tests. Unfortunately can you please return to lab fasting to redraw these?" I'll just leave that here for potential patients to make their own conclusions on the competence of the practice.

Jen: I like my doctor but the practice is not managed well. It is impossible to schedule an appointment. Also if you are experiencing anything they deem covid symptoms they will not see you. They tell you to go to the ER or Urgent Care. Not really acceptable for a primary care physicians group.

Kathy Hickman: The NP refused to see my sick daughter, even with 2 negative Covid tests. Was told to "go to urgent care", as they don't see their own patients in the office if "they are sick" for a strep test and influenza test. No urgent care appointments x 36 hours.

Violet Butterscotch: Although I explained to a receptionist that I had not receive invasive care through my previous hmo she said she vhc would not accept me as a patient until a nurse reviewed my history. And they do not perform consultations with specialist.
Response: Hi, we regret to hear that you are displeased with your recent experience. We'd like the opportunity to discuss this with you. Please reach out to us at (703) 717-7100 at your earliest convenience to discuss how we can provide a positive experience.

Corey Wickett: Lack of professionalism is shocking. This is the 4th visit in a row I’ve taken my mom too & they’ve randomly changed the appointment. Today’s visit was scheduled over a month ago for 9:30am & the expect my elderly mother to figure out there portal system. Clearly to lazy to cal as they changed the appointment without telling the patient. Last time mom actually seen the dr was nearly 2 years ago. Thank god the nurse practitioners are actually pretty good. However, my patience is gone with this practice in Shirlington & I won’t be taking my mother back here! Time to find my mother & pancreatic cancer patient to a new clinic.

Richard Lewis: I've had a google account since Google first started, many years ago. Google has undergone numerous revisions and update since. IN SO DOING "GOOGLE" HAS SOMEHOW LOST TRACT OF MY ORIGINAL, AND ONLY, WORKING EMAIL.. PLEASE UPDATE AND STRAIGHTEN OUT ITS RECORDES AS WELL AS MINE.

Christie Catan: I have never written a review in my life, but I have been so frustrated with this group that it has driven me to. I left this practice because I was always told I had to wait a month to see a doctor when I called with an actual illness. I decided to leave when the doctor who I liked left the practice - was no longer worth the hassle. I now urgently need my medical records. I put in a request for my records (or had my other doc do it) 34 days ago. I have called several times to check on them, and they have been rude each time. This level of patient care is not acceptable.

Me1586 Me: The worst medical group to work for. Management is the absolute worst. They only care for pretty much themselves. They'll do anything to save a dollar for end of year bonuses. If you're thinking of working with this group, please rethink it. They do no, I repeat DO NOT give the necessary training required to perform tasks. When I worked there a year ago, i would literally have anxiety attacks the moment i walk into the office. It was so bad and so depressing that i was put on anti anxiety medications and anti depressants. That's how bad it was. The girl who was supposedly training me, I guess was so intimidated by me that she did everything she could to not train me properly, yet she went behind my back to the doctors, the genetic counselor and the manager, that I wasn't fit to work there. And they believe and trusted her because, they had known her for years, and of course no other MA or LPN could work there. She will throw anyone under the bus to get favors. Well that's accurate, because I WAS POORLY trained. I had a different nursing background, and working in a High Risk OB office was new to me. I was excited and wanted to learn so much, APPLICANTS, that office is the absolute worst. Before the LPN I replaced she warned me to be careful of that MA, she was so right about her, OMG. I always, ALWAYS felt so out of place. The backbiting was incredibly devastating. This MA and her friends at the office would gather and insult me, I walked in on them one time doing so. But came that Faithful Tuesday of December 5th, 2017 (my daughter's 1st birthday) One would have thought they knew I was thinking of resigning. They made it so easy for me to resign, as they said to me "WE HAVE NO REASON TO FIRE YOU, WE'LL GIVE YOU THE OPTION TO RESIGN." I have never felt so great about walking out of a Job until that day. Especially a job that only wanna train with BINDERS and not real teaching.
