Washington Institute of Surgery: Mohammed M. Kalan, MD, FACS, FRCS: what do users think?
Michelle Schuster
Michelle Schuster: I’m very grateful that I was able to have Dr. Kalan be my surgeon for my emergency surgery which was complicated by being on a blood thinner. He was excellent at reassuring me and my family before the procedure and that at my subsequent visit explained everything to me and my wife in such a kind incomprehensible way. I feel that he is giving me the best possible care and all the information that I need going forward. Thank you so much, Dr. Kalan, and your wonderful staff.
Tavicare Office
Tavicare Office: Dr Kalan and his staff are absolutely the best. They are professional, thorough, very responsive and very caring. They go the extra mile to provide above standard care. I am convinced that their above-standard care and "going the extra mile" has helped save my life. I am forever grateful to Dr Kalan and his amazing staff. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Eliana Assimakopoulos
Eliana Assimakopoulos: Dr Kalan is the consummate professional and places his patients at ease with his reassurance and steadfast confidence. His team is compassionate gentle and knowledgeable. I felt safe and well cared for in his hands.
Paul D
Paul D: Would be a 5 star but had to wait about 35 or 40 mins past appointment time to be seen. This was a post-op visit to follow up on a hospital stay due to a post surgical complication. Having said that, I found Dr Kalan to be attentive, insightful and most importantly to me, willing to explain and indulge my questions.
Steven Kebeck
Steven Kebeck: DR. Kalan was very professional and to the point, about my condition. I thought , I was experiencing a hiatal Hernia and it was simply a muscle issue. The staff was excellent.
Richard Zorn
Richard Zorn: Dr Kalan is a superb surgeon with a winning bedside manner! I presented him with a complex and challenging medical condition. The surgery went really well and I am recovering nicely. His staff is also amazing! He has 3 PA’s and one CRNP who are very knowledgeable and always accessible. The office staff is also top-notch. Nothing but the highest regard for Dr Kalan and his staff!!
Rosita Stevens-Holsey
Rosita Stevens-Holsey: The office was very calm and relaxing. The staff was professional, courteous, and helpful. A surgeon makes the bulk of fees from performing surgery. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Kalan suggested more investigation into my medical issues before recommending surgery. He was very reassuring and knowledgeable.
Jerome Danoff
Jerome Danoff: Dr Kalan and his staff are friendly, competent, and professional. My surgery went exactly as promised. They have been solicitous of my recovery, and I am doing very well. Dr Kalan is highly skilled and directs an excellent surgical program. Many thanks to the entire team.

I trust him completely and I never find myself doubting his judgment. I know his skill and abilities are impeccable and he has never led me astray. I owe him 2-3 lives. We go back about 14 years.
Tony Felt
Tony Felt: From the very minute I walked into GW I heard nothing but praise about Dr. Lin and his skill as a surgeon and educator. The nurses and support staff know him and say he’s a great doctor. The residents say he’s tough, but the that the men and women in his service go on to be fantastic surgeons. My experience with Dr. Lin was outstanding and I consider myself extremely fortunate that he did my procedure. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a top surgeon. Look him up, his accolades speak for themselves. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. Make an appointment!

J. R. Salameh, MD, FACS: what do users think?
Neil Schuster
Neil Schuster: I used Dr. Salameh for a hernia repair operation. Fairly simple, outpatient procedure, and I was impressed with his approach and with the folks in his office. He clearly explained all the options to me, was honest about the recovery time (I wanted to return to running in a week; he told me that was unlikely). His office staff was very efficient in getting me set up for the surgery. The surgery went well and there was no complication at all. I visited for a follow-up visit a number of weeks later. I would recommend him highly to anyone planning on hernia surgery.
Joe S
Joe S: Dr. Salameh is wonderful! He has a very good bedside manner and really listened to my concerns before and after my surgery. I highly recommend him for any surgical needs.
Jackie Chembers
Jackie Chembers: I am so thankful to have found Dr. Salameh. I had a large complex hernia and after seeing a local Doctor went to get a second opinion. Thank God I did. Not only was his expertise and knowledge top notch but he was able to do the robotics. My hernia was worse than what the scan had shown and difficult per the location. He did an amazing job. I am still recovering but am on the mend. I was impressed of how he called within 5 minutes on a Saturday back as I needed more pain meds and the order had not been received at Walmart. He took care of that ASAP for me. Walmart loses orders sometimes as it’s happened before so I knew it was on their end but needed the meds and had no issues. He did a good job. My muscles that tore were in between 2 of my ribs. As it was high up on my left side. He was able to pull my muscles together as close as he could and put mesh in but he also had to free up scar tissue as my kidneys were stuck to my ribs. I highly recommend Dr. Salameh. He took the worry and stress away as I knew I was in good hands. He is also very nice and has good bad side manners which is a plus. Worth the Drive to VA. I would travel to see him if I needed him again. His office is very accommodating too as I had FMLA paperwork and short term paperwork and they were all over it. I did not feel like just a number. Best experience I’ve ever had. dr. Salameh answered all my questions. I don’t usually have a lot of faith in doctors and hospitals. But I do in him and VA hospital Center and his staff. It has changed my thinking. I literally feel so blessed to have found Dr Salameh. I am grateful. Jacklyn Chembars. Mechanicsville MD
Nahu Dimitri
Nahu Dimitri: Gave my grandmother great consult on course of action for dialysis. Strongly recommend this physician and their group
RoRo Gingy
RoRo Gingy: Dr. Salameh has been saving my life since 2017. He is informative, straight shooter and professional.
Grand Meemaw
Grand Meemaw: He is an exceptional doctor who really cares about his patients. He is very approachable and welcomed all questions that I had or ever had about my procedure. I am very thankful for his time and care! He is an expert on the conditions he specializes and puts his patients to ease about processes and procedures. He has a wonderful rapport with his patients that is not typically found with doctors of his high acumen. I will recommend all of my friends and family to him!!

Stephanie Kellogg
Stephanie Kellogg: Nothing but an amazing experience! I was so afraid to have my gallbladder removed but it was a great experience with a caring staff! Dr. Paul is an awesome surgeon who put me at ease!!! No one wants to have surgery ever, but if you need to , I would say Dr. Paul and the entire staff ar Sibley were the BEST! IM FEELING SOOOO MUCH BETTER! THANKS SO MUCH DR. PAUL!
Amber Harding
Amber Harding: I gave an unhappy review a little over a month ago that expressed my experiences. Since then I have had the pleasure of working with the entire staff and seems like the issue was simply a miscommunication. I’m extremely satisfied with my experiences and would recommend him 1 million times over!
William Trimble
William Trimble: Dr. Paul and his staff were absolutely terrific from beginning to end of a recent procedure. Always available for questions and always on time. Highest recommendation.
Jannet Colvin
Jannet Colvin: My husband needs surgery after his last colonoscopy and we were referred to Dr. Paul by Capital Digestive Care, it’s a fairly competent group, or so I thought, the visit was a little off and Dr. Paul was very pushy to schedule a surgery date, I did not feel comfortable and when I came back home researched “Colo-Rectal Surgery” and discovered this Surgeon is NOT Fellowship Trained in Colon and Rectal Surgery; I was shocked…… and have to question to competency of the referring provider, Capital Digestive Care; I mean the average patient does not know these things and should not have to, this is where trust comes in and I don’t trust Capital Digestive Care anymore. I am not putting my husband’s care in these peoples untrained hands while the region has many trained and accredited Fellowship Trained and Colo-Rectal Board Certified Surgeons. I mean would you take your transmission to a guy that is trained to do oil and lube????
KK Nichols
KK Nichols: I wish I could give 5 stars however I cannot. A family member went to see Dr. Paul for a surgical consult. Dr. Paul and his staff are pleasant but that’s where it ends. When scans came back we called the office repeatedly for results and were left on hold or the phone wasn’t answered at all. As far as I know no attempts have been made to call us to come back in for follow up. There were no recommendations for next steps. I pull not place my family member’s life I’m his hands. I’m terribly disappointed as he was a referral from a medical practice I trust.
Vivi Lasanta burgos
Vivi Lasanta burgos: I had a procedure done at Sibley Hospital.. Dr. Martin G. Paul, M.D performed my procedure. He is a great doctor.. very knowledgeable, very gentle and attentive. Before going to my procedure i was an emotional wreck.. but the staff at Sibley are sooooooo friendly that it made me feel at ease. Let me not forget the nurses..in specific Arlene and Lee which were the ones that took care of me after... they are AMAZING! By far the best care i have had in a hospital. Thank you guys soo much for making this scary experience a great one.and taking great care of me.. . god bless you all..

Robert Melvin
Robert Melvin: Doctor Trad is a fantastic GI. He is incredibly thorough, and does a great job when it comes to working to figure out the cause of symptoms and working to resolve it. I would recommend him to anyone in the VA/ DC region.
Karen Hunter
Karen Hunter: Dr. Trad, his Physician Assistant Paul Marino and his entire team are amazing! Not only is he a very skillful, knowledgeable surgeon, he takes time to explain and reassure you of his care for you. The whole team is very compassionate. Michele Brunngraber
Michele Brunngraber: Dr Trad was my surgeon and I literally had NO PAIN from any of my laparoscopic surgery. My bad back got messed up from lying on the operating table for too long, but that was all on me. Virtually no recovery. Thank you Dr. Trad

The GW Medical Faculty Associates: what do users think?
Sarah Pleznac
Sarah Pleznac: I’d like to thank Medical Faculty Associates for bringing me a little closer to G-d this weekend. I asked for prescription refills 4 days ago… and still no meds! This is excruciating in so many ways. Oh, and you can’t directly call these folks. You will always reach a call center after going through a phone tree and being on hold for an hour. You better love and get used to using their patient portal. That’s pretty much the only way you can communicate with them (communicate is a stretch, it’s more like screaming into the ether and praying for a response). Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!
Melanie McDonough
Melanie McDonough: I saw someone below say that they wish they could award 0 stars and I’d like to second that. Over a year ago, I went to GWMFA for a few visits. I didn’t have any issues, they were pleasant enough. But upon my second visit, I had an outstanding bill for a couple hundred dollars. I could not check in for my next appointment until it was paid even though I was fairly certain my insurance had covered this. A few days later, when I had some free time again, I looked into it more. They had indeed overcharged me. I called to get this taken care of but got the run around and was told to try my insurance. So I tried my insurance multiple times and ultimately learned that they would not reimburse me because it was GWMFA that had overcharged me, not them. I came back to GWMFA with this information and this is when I stopped getting any responses. They do not care at all. While this may seem like a trivial amount of money, for me this is a lot of money. It’s disappointing to see how little they care about the their patients. I enlisted the help of a health advocate who has been attempting to reach them since last year. Also no response. They have tried reaching out to the customer service rep Shanna via phone and email and have been completely ignored. They reached Darvis who told them they needed to talk to Shanna. Kind of hard to do when she’s blatantly ignoring us. Darvis provided them a generic billing email to request Shanna’s supervisor, which just seems like another way to ghost us. I would recommend going else where if you want the people treating you to actually care about you.
Response: Hi Melanie, thank you for sharing your experience with us. As a patient, your concerns are important to us and we would like to learn more about this issue. Please feel free to reach out to our Patient Experience team at patientexperience@mfa.gwu.edu or 202-677-6620.
Katie Rourke
Katie Rourke: I called today to schedule a consult with a doctor in the Division of Gastroenterology since my Primary Care Doctor recommended a colonoscopy due to blood in my stool (I’m only 30 years old). I was told that their earliest opening to see any GI doctor was 7 MONTHS from now, in December 2022. That is insane, especially for something as important/time sensitive as a colon cancer screening.
Response: Hi Katie, As a patient, your concerns are important to us. We want to help you solve your problem in a timely way. Please contact our Office of Patient Experience so they may troubleshoot these issues directly with you: patientexperience@mfa.gwu.edu or 202-677-6620.
Caroline Barker
Caroline Barker: I would give zero stars if I could. This place is full of liars, scammers, and frauds. Forget about medical care - protect yourself from their harassing billing practices and DO NOT GO HERE. I have been getting bills for $1000 for over one year that I never owed. The doctor has been fighting with their billing department on my behalf and they still keep sending me bills. I have started the paperwork for a fraud claim with the FTC - they have one more week before I file - that is how severely outrageous my experience has been.

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital: what do users think?
Renuka C
Renuka C: My experiences at Medstar have been very good so I keep coming back. The staff are efficient, the providers are knowledgeable and skilled. An outstanding patient-centered system where the doctors listen to your concerns and take their time to answer questions. I trust them to keep me healthy. A few parking options: hospital garage, paid street parking (up to 4 hours), and free street parking (2-hour max and about a 7 min walk). Highly recommend these professionals!
Response: Thank you so much, Renuka. It always means a lot when someone takes the time to let us know that they had a 5-star experience with us. We will surely share your kind words with our team. Thank you for your trust and for choosing MedStar Health!
N K
N K: If I could give a million minus stars, I would. I’ve lived in many developing countries, I was always better treated or received better care than in this emergency room. People had seizures in front of me and other patients had to point out because nobody seemed to care. It’s unbelievable that this is a major private hospital in the capital of the richest country in the world!!!!! As stated in most comments here, I do not understand how this emergency room is allowed to operate!!

william hutchinson: (edit: it took 9 hours to see a doctor. Got there at 8pm left at 6am.) told it would be a 3 hour wait. Told we could not leave for 2 hours and come back. Had better service at an Outback Steakhouse. At least Outback gives you a buzzer for when it’s your turn….

steven chapman
steven chapman: My wife had a 2 day surgery and will be staying in the hospital for a couple more days for recovery. The surgery center staff and her floor nurses were amazing, informative, and understanding. My issue is the hospitals ridiculous visitor policy of 11-7 and the front desk clerk that ran down the hall to stop me after 16 other workers said I’m good. On the first day we showed up at 8 for the survey and I wasn’t able to see her in her room until 6:45pm as that’s when the surgery/recovery wrapped up. I got a solid 15 minutes with her before having to leave. Next morning I wasn’t able to see her until 11am and they wheeled her out for surgery at 11:30. I grabbed some food at the chic-fil-a and sat outside at the picnic tables(didn’t have any to sit in over crowded waiting area for 6 hrs) near the surgery center. When the surgery wrapped up and they informed me she was heading back to the room, I was denied entrance by the front desk saying it’s their policy to not let guest leave and come back. I never left the campus and and was literally sitting where the whole staff goes outside for lunch, but had to go to the main entrance to get back in the building. I guess I could have just sat in her room alone for 6 hours but I didn’t think there is a lack of common sense in a facility where we were forced to visit because this is the only hospital her doctor preforms surgery in. Also traffic around the hospital and parking is a mess. But it’s cool because you have to pay for that excellent service.
Response: Steven, thank you for your review. We value your feedback and appreciate your taking the time to share it. We are very sorry that you were not satisfied with your experience. We always strive to do everything we can to make sure that our patients and their loved ones feel supported when someone is hospitalized. Alex E
Alex E: Not sure what is going on but this ER is changing for the worst. My first two encounters were wonderful, I felt like my concerns were answered and I was comfortable. Yesterday I arrived with stomach issues and, long story short, was given a CT scan and bloodwork and then sent away without genuine answers. I still feel awful a day later. There are also way more beds now in the ER, which shows me MedStar is only concerned with money. The floors were filthy and the bedding had a stain!
Response: Alex, thank you for your feedback. While we're happy to hear that your past experiences have been great, it's disheartening that this was not the case during your most recent visit. We truly apologize and have shared your comments with the most appropriate leaders on our team. We'd like to reach out to you to discuss your concerns in greater detail. Please fill out our secure online patient feedback form so that we can be in touch as soon as we can: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon.
Virginia Donnelly
Virginia Donnelly: Personnel are Always professional and courteous. I trust the Doctors I encounter. I had breast cancerin 2012 went through lumpectomy, radiation and closely followed by my oncologist for more than 8 years. I have a friend whose 12 year old daughter who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at Childrens hospital. They took my advice and came to this hospital for a second opinion. They decided to continue her treatment at Georgetown Univ Hospital because of their communication, explanations and atmosphere with the child and parents. The child is happier, understands what is going on with her body and has been able to return to school.
Response: Virginia, we appreciate your kind words so much. We know that a cancer diagnosis can be very difficult. We always strive to do everything that we can to make sure that our patients and their families are receiving the best care and support. It's our honor to be here for you when you need us. We wish you and your friend the very best.
Paulaa Mason
Paulaa Mason: I wouldn’t suggest this hospital for young inexperienced first time black moms. I’m 28 and I was told this was a decent hospital however I was given poor care by the staff here. It was one point for 3 months I wasn’t seen by my doctor and was only getting ultrasounds monthly. I didn’t know any better or know I was supposed to see a doctor and the ultra sound people. However once I found out I made an appointment and was seen that day. The down side to it I got a VERY nasty nurse who did the bare minimum and even had an attitude. I understand they say that some students practice and are involved but I don’t need anyone learning anything trying to help me. Especially when I’m not fully aware of what’s going on. Even now I’m in my 7th month I’ve yet to get a proper due date, measure or weigh my baby or 70% of what I’ve recently learned should’ve been done by now. I just pray it doesn’t affect my son in the long run. I would switch hospitals but it’s too late and when I tried the place I was going said they had to start everything from scratch and that’s just a huge inconvenience. So if it’s your first child and you don’t know what to expect please don’t come here. These people don’t care, they just wanna collect their check and go home. (I also hate to be this way however I witnessed with my own eyes how the attitude of a white Women changed versus helping me. Than when a white couple came up who was after me and it was a major difference.) I asked to speak with the BOA but they said that department didn’t have one. And only said I could talk to a women was was in charge of the shift. However that was unhelpful and nothing was fixed. I’m extremely disappointed in the care I’ve been getting and the lack of help my child has been receiving
Response: Paulaa, thank you for your review and feedback. We are very sorry for your experience and would like to contact you as soon as we can so that we can make sure your concerns are addressed. Leah Thompson: I was nervous while driving in after seeing the low rating but I noticed most complaints were due to the time spent waiting. Well today I spent 11 hours in the ER and while that’s a crazy amount of time my son was so well taken care of that I don’t care. Every option was explored and there was no being referred to other places because all specialist are under one roof. 100% recommend making the trip into DC for child emergencies if you’re able. The staff was wonderful❤️
Chaturbhuj bhojwani
Chaturbhuj bhojwani: Very good hospital for children my daughter had a eye surgery here. She was the patient of Dr. Jaffar.
Patricia Carter
Patricia Carter: My 6 month old daughter got stuck with a needle 7 times because other places “couldn’t get a good stick” when we went here, she got it on the first stick, no problem. We were in and out, with hardly any fuss from the baby. Kathy Hawkins, specifically, was absolutely amazing. Extremely attentive to not only baby, but myself and her dad as well. If we ever need blood work done for our daughter, we will absolutely make the 2hr trip to come here again!
Jennifer Alvarado
Jennifer Alvarado: Best hospital for childrens. My daughter has had 56 surgeries during her 4 years of life, and everyone has been wonderful! I love Childrens hospital. From specialty doctors to pediatricians, nurses, radiology, clerks, social workers and other workers have been great! I love this hospital and will always be grateful! Parking is a little tough at times so it’s better to always leave an hour before your appointment. Thank you Childrens hospital.
Lisa Taylor
Lisa Taylor: The “1” review is only because of our wonderful nurses. Poor attending gastroenterologist and resident problem-solving and diagnostics. They didn’t verbally communicate critical MRE results. Infection control issues with C-Diff after testing and “see it all the time there”…sanitize your equipment! Significant financial hardship with med school level care!
Marbel Panameno
Marbel Panameno: I took my son there because he’s had a bad cought and the place was so dirty and there was even vomit on the floor and it took them over 10 mins to come clean it up. You would think the attention towards children would be good after all it’s called children’s but its bad and it took for ever to be seen, We waited over an hour in the emergency room before they brough us in…. Overall if I would have known about the attention in this hospital I would have taken my son elsewhere, not going there again.

George Washington University Hospital: what do users think?
Barbara Thompson
Barbara Thompson: For the past 2 months, I have been fortunate enough to be seen at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. I am new to Washington DC, so it is the first time I have experienced the level of care that goes on there. Because I have several physical issues to deal with, I am at the hospital a couple of times a week. The Doctors have been able to diagnose and begin treatment for .a couple of major physical issues that I have. The Physical Therapy team that is working with me is showing me great kindness and patience. There is a confidence and optimistic feeling among the staff that permeates the hospital. You can’t help but feel better after spending time with this crew. I have never felt so comfortable in a hospital before, or looked forward to going to it! I am so grateful for the professionalism and the knowledge that the doctors and nurses have. I am looking forward to healing in a better life because of their care. So to the doctors, nurses, therapists and the rest of the staff, please know how much we appreciate all the hard work that you do for us. You are greatly appreciated and loved! Barb Thompson
Response: Hi, Barbara. It means the world to us that you took time out of your day to leave us this great feedback. Thank you, and we hope you have a pleasant day.
Jackie Wlodarczyk
Jackie Wlodarczyk: I went in with an issue with my eye because it would not open. I obviously was not able to see much at all. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they guided me so I would not run into anyone or anything. I was seen by a medical student, a resident, and an ER doctor almost immediately. They were all very nice and were quick and efficient in order to cause me the least amount of pain possible. The student and resident were extremely nice and provided me with as much information as possible. The only downside was that it took a really long time for the head doctor to approve my discharge paperwork. Which I kind of understand since it is an emergency room, but at that point I just really wanted to leave and go home. I eventually just left on my own after waiting an hour and a half for the head doctor to sign it. But overall, the staff really made the experience great.
Response: Hi, Jackie. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such great feedback. We're glad to hear you found our staff to be so friendly and helpful. Take care!
LyshaReneéTV
LyshaReneéTV: From the time of my consultation to the time I had my surgery the nurses and doctors were excellent! They made sure at all times I had everything I needed. Throughout my consultation, the doctor was very informative of my issues and well informative about my options. During my surgery, it did start an hour late but throughout my time waiting the doctors still made sure that I was comfortable and the job got done. I would definitely recommend!
Response: Thank you for your kind words, Lyshareneétv! Shout-outs like this are so meaningful to our team and we will be sure to pass your comments along. Thank you again and take care!
Jessy Manuel
Jessy Manuel: The staff had excellent bedside manner and were comforting and kept me well informed. I was very nervous as I had a prior surgery after which I woke up in horrible pain. I told the anesthesiologist and he reassured me before the procedure and stayed with me until I was in recovery to make sure that did not happen. Highly recommended.
Response: Thank you for the five stars, Jessy!
Vonda Lewis
Vonda Lewis: I had in and out surgery here last week and I was really nervous but once I checked in and was called to the back to get prepped for it. My nurse came in then the doctors who were doing the surgery came in and introduced themselves and then their assistant and so on. I was like I really feel welcomed and at ease a little. When I got to the surgery room the room was nice and cozy they had soft music playing, everyone was so very nice and at that time I knew I was in good hands. I was not nervous anymore. From the time I switched doctors GW has always been on point with everything! I would definitely recommend this hospital and the doctors to any and everyone! They get 5/10 stars from me! Thanks GW😊
Response: Hi, Vonda. It is very thoughtful of you to leave us such positive comments. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We hope you are doing well!
Leandra Brown
Leandra Brown: I just recently gave birth at GWU and I had an amazing experience. From the check in process to discharge and everything in between, I felt well taken care of. The Midwives are incredible! They are all so kind and knowledgeable and really attentive to your needs. I couldn’t be happier. All of the Nurses I worked with during Labor and after were awesome! They were super helpful and took such good care of me! Even though they had their hands full with lots of other patients, they were still very attentive, constantly checking in to see if I needed anything. I also loved working with the Lactation Consultant. She was so supportive and encouraging and I learned so much from her. It was such a pleasure working with her. I appreciate all of the staff (it’s impossible to name them all) for making my experience a great one.
Response: Hi, Leandra. Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words with us! Compliments such as these are held very dear to our hearts. We’re currently working on a staff recognition campaign and would like to share your kind words with our community. If we may include your feedback, please fill out the following form by visiting https://rptn.co/fRtBAaB8AQA. Thank you again for sharing your thoughtful comments with us.

Chaturbhuj bhojwani
Chaturbhuj bhojwani: I believe this is the best hospital in Washington DC Compare with other hospitals. Unfortunately waiting time is so much here cannot explain. This location needs major renovation more facilities for patients and staff.
Response: Thank you for your review, Chaturbhuj. We're happy to hear that you have had positive experiences with us. We value your feedback and will share it with our leadership team so that we can make improvements in the future. Thank you for choosing us for your care. We wish you the best!
Hannah
Hannah: Was flown into the emergency department after a major hemorrhage, post-tonsillectomy that left me unable to stop throwing up large amounts blood. The ER team got me straight into a room, explained everything they were doing, and made sure I was comfortable. My primary ER nurse, Raquel, was incredibly helpful. In less than 10 minutes after my arrival the resident ENT, Dr. Randolph, came to exam me and was very kind and had excellent bedside manner. He collaborated on my treatment plan with my surgeon and communicated everything to me and my mom. After a few hours I was admitted to the hospital in my own room. They allowed my mom to stay the night with me since I am under 26 years old. My nurse, Mary Kate, was incredible. She made sure me and my mom were comfortable, that I wasn’t in too much pain, and was very very sweet! The next morning Dr. Randolph came back to discharge me. Every nurse, doctor, and staff member I encountered there was great - which is very meaningful considering I was in such rough shape. Great medical team. Wait times were a bit long at times, but as to be expected in a hospital.
Response: Hannah, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are so glad that we could be here for you when you needed us, especially during what must have been a very frightening situation. We will surely share your kind words with our team. Thank you for your trust and for choosing us for your care. We hope you are doing better and wish you the best!
Johniece Robinson
Johniece Robinson: Don’t let these people lie to you this by far the worst hospital ever! Back in the day it was okay but I don’t know what happened over the years. I’ve watched my sister have the worst labor and delivery. The doctors was unprofessional they even had students practice on the patients. They barely clean, sanitize my sisters room, if it’s supposed to be COVID why nobody not doing they’re job! I was so irritated and annoyed for my sister. She came in the hospital Great left out with a fever. The nurses will get irritated if we ask them a question, they will take along time to respond to us if we call for them it was just too much I felt so bad. Hopefully in the future they will have better doctors and more professional nurses. I will go more into details but I’m not! Just hope In the future things will be so much better and more professional
Response: Johniece, thank you for your review and feedback. We are very sorry for your sister's experience with us. We take your concerns very seriously and would like to reach out to you or her as soon as we can for more information. Julio Argueta
Julio Argueta: It was the worst experience in a hospital, my daughter was on surgery for 6 hours, and no one come to me and let me know how was everything, not even after the surgery, in other cases I saw doctors come and tell there family how was everything and that everything went well. But not in my case and not even the receptionist could tell us anything not even where she was. Until 10 hours later when my daughter called me and send me a picture of the board information that she can verily see. That was the only way that I could see her. They ask her if she wants to see a minister, she told them that she wanted to see me because her father was a minister but they didn’t let me in, she stay overnight and now I am her outside waiting until 11:00 they won’t let me in until visit hours, even when she ask for me. Her father. We are used to have a better treatment. Georgetown is the best hospital. For sure….
Response: Julio, we understand that having a loved one in the hospital can be difficult and emotional. We're very sorry to hear that you have not been satisfied with your family's experience. We'd like to reach out to you as soon as we can to see if there's anything we can do to help and support you. joy adona
joy adona: My sister was a patient at this hospital just recently. She had chest pain and fainted while working. She was brought to the emergency room department and had the worst experience since. The nurse who took care of her yelled at her when she was asking for something, she could not move at all and needed assistance getting what she needed. She was not treated with respect, her privacy was violated. She was in pain and did not receive anything to manage it. Her calls were ignored. It is hard enough to be in pain more so being treated rudely while dealing with it. The nurses’ priority should be the provision of safe and quality patient care. My sister just experienced the opposite.
Response: Joy, thank you for sharing your review. We are very sorry for your sister's experience with us. We take your concerns seriously and would very much like to speak with her regarding these issues. Please ask her to fill out our secure online patient feedback form so that we can contact her as soon as we can: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with her soon and will do everything we can to help.
Greer Dog Adventures
Greer Dog Adventures: The front desk and security are horrible. No compassion, no empathy, unhelpful, and always have an attitude. They will give you different information policy than the doctors and nurses, and it is not always correct. If you can get past that, the other staff is gracious, kind, compassionate, and helpful. Mask mandate in effect. Normal visiting hours vary from 11a-6p to 2p-7p. Only one person PER DAY. Palliative care visiting hours are 24/7 under order of provider. Two people are allowed at a time, and they can switch with other documented visitors.
Response: Thank you for your review and feedback. While we're happy to hear that you had a positive experience with some of our team members, it's very disappointing to hear that this was not the case throughout your visit. We'd like to reach out to you for more information regarding your concerns. If you're willing, please fill out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon and will do everything we can to help.
Naya -Monet
Naya -Monet: April front desk at suite 108 for pregnant women had a really nasty attitude talked to me any kind of way no greeting busy speaking to co-workers while speaking to me must be really miserable. She definitely needs more training on people/communication skills if you don’t like your job don’t work there simple. In the hallway while I was waiting for feedback I even overheard other patients complaining about her attitude which sucks. She needs to learn the basics of patient care fire her or have her get more training .
Response: Naya, thank you for your review. We're very sorry for your experience and would like to reach out to you for more information as soon as we can. We expect all members of our team to treat our patients with the highest levels of kindness and professionalism. If you're willing, please fill out our secure online patient feedback form: http://bit.ly/mshpff. We hope to speak with you soon.
Jade Dawson
Jade Dawson: I had a very good labor and delivery experience here via c section, as I could not labor naturally with my midwife as planned for several reasons. I labored naturally here until 7cm and I’m so glad all I had to do was pace my breathing. They took wonderful care of me, knew how and when to manage my pain before I realized it myself. The low stress of this resulted in a calm trust when it came to the c section. Will come again for the next baby!

Sibley Memorial Hospital: what do users think?
Anna Katt
Anna Katt: We just arrived home from receiving excellent care from Sibley’s Labor and delivery department. Everyone involved at every stage of the process was so kind and helpful, including the room service staff and environmental services. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to support us during the process of welcoming our first. Really appreciate all of it considering the current challenges faced by health care professionals during this pandemic.
Erin Taylor
Erin Taylor: I had such an amazingly positive experience at the Sibley ER yesterday and had to write a review. The triage nurses were really fantastic and caring. They stayed calm even though it was a hectic day and they were so kind. I especially appreciated them because I passed out in the ER and they were so kind when waking me up and helping me feel better. The ER nurses (Alex and Liz) were amazing! So helpful and kind and attentive. They really lightened my mood because they were so kind and caring. They also took the time to explain everything to me and really make sure I was okay. This was amazing to me because I knew the ER was very busy that day. The doctor, Dr. Eltaki, was absolutely fantastic. She was so smart and caring and made me feel really cared about and important. She also really took the time to explain things to me. I really really appreciated her!
Ronald Willis (Toke Masta)
Ronald Willis (Toke Masta): This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at an emergency room. But still very worthy of 5 stars. I was in at 9:30a. They drew blood at 10:15a. I didn’t get into a room until about 4p. I watched literally every person in the lobby get called back before me. By the time I go in a room. There were no familiar faces. A supervisor came out around 3:15. And I explained to her what I came for. And how long I had been waiting. She assured me she would look into it. And about 45 min later, I had a room. Once in the room. The nurses jumps into action. I got my cat scan. Nothing unusual. And they did what they needed to do. Once complete. I did have to wait an unusually long time for my discharge papers. But when I asked what was going on, I was out within 10 minutes. The staff was very overwhelmed but the people, the attitudes, the trash talking. But nobody lost patience. Everyone did the best they could. And even though it took a while. I left happy and satisfied with how the day was spent. Kudos to the entire ER staff at SMH! Thank you!
Karen Luttrell
Karen Luttrell: I just has surgery here at this hospital. My third surgery in 5 months due to breast cancer, but the first time I had surgery at this location. The staff in both pre-op and post-op went above and beyond to take care of me. My anesthesiologist was fantastic. I generally get very sick from anesthesia, but not this time. I greatly appreciate courtesy, kindness and care I received. I would highly recommend them!
Emalee Jimenez
Emalee Jimenez: This hospital needs to be seriously investigated for negligent patient care and no standards of cleanliness. This is a liability and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been sued for negligence in patient deaths. I will be contacting more people because of this. Took my friend to the ER because she was having extreme abdominal pain that probably occurred because of a gluten allergy attack. The staff kept asking if she had drank or smoked weed recently, probably trying to really push to see if it was just a hangover. The staff was extremely rude and aggressive and caused her even more pain at times. The ER was less than half empty when we were there but somehow they took 2 hours just to give her an IV. As they were getting blood samples I guess the phlebotomist was too lazy to get a separate cart so she just used our table with all our personal belongings on it to do her blood work. The picture shown was AFTER the lady took the 4 blood viles off the table. She looked confused and didn’t know which vile went in which bag , and even got BLOOD on the table near our stuff!! Didn’t bother to clean up the spilt blood. I had to wait another hour just to get somebody’s attention to ask for gloves and wipes to clean it up myself. After 3 hours, and complaining about 2 or 3 times, they gave her morphine. Still rough and aggressive. We were fed up and just told them we wanted to be discharged. We waited another HOUR AND A HALF. At this point we’ve been in the ER for 4.5 hours. Nothing was done. Nobody was helping. Still haven’t seen any doctor. We pulled out the IV ourselves and walked out and went to another hospital. Wasted so much time and actually caused more pain. Please don’t come here

elijah
elijah: I’ve always had positive experiences at sibley but not this time. I’ve been sitting in the er for 9 and a half hours. I’ve had my blood drawn and and IV put in and left to sit in the waiting room this whole time. I am an amputee (amputation done at Sibley) and I have an infection. I was admitted last week for 3 days for IV antibiotics and sent home with 5 days of oral antibiotics even though I told them I cannot take oral. I vomited the oral antibiotics for 5 days and am back at the hospital because my infection is still there. Everyone that came into the er after me is gone. They say they are going by acute cases but leaving me in the er for almost 10 hours (and counting) makes me feel like I don’t matter. I’m extremely upset and feel neglected.
Response: Hi Elijah - we appreciate the opportunity to resolve your concerns. Walter Reed National Military Medical Center: what do users think?
London Couture Salon
London Couture Salon: I’m going to announce that sadly this is not a good review. I wish I could have said something different. I’ve been trying to get an appointment there for over a month now. I’ve made more than 10 calls and it’s back to square one every time. After much observation, I realize that No one there knows anything about the system nor do they communicate with each other from one department to another. That has been made evident as I have left messages, presented referral information, filled out forms and spoke to the manager and coordinators. I don’t know what is going on there but I have lost confidence in their ability to help my daughter who urgently needs care.
Michaela Layne
Michaela Layne: I’m a nurse and I’m appalled at how this place runs. Currently here and my husband is having a major 4-6 hour surgery and I’m not allowed to go back to anesthesia holding with him to ask questions per Covid restrictions. An employee just pointed me in the direction of surgery waiting room and said it’s right there. Nothing like you will get a call, here is a number to watch a board to show where he is at, someone will update etc. all because of Covid restrictions. I work at the largest Level 1 trauma center in Virginia and our Covid policies are 10x better than here. Also, their “updated” Covid policy is from December 2021. Not acceptable.
C H
C H: Not only is it a pain to drive 2 hours away as active duty but the service and care is not good at all. The hoops you have to go through just to get an appointment and you have to keep reaping just to get another appointment or service. I completely understand what our Veterans go through because as an active duty serviceman it has been a nightmare dealing with medical centers in Maryland. We have preferences and the service is still mediocre. The fact that you can talk to someone there, have a problem and them not care how to help you take care of it is the reason why service member HATE dealing with medical. Nothing has changed for me in over 20 years!
Lawrence Westcott
Lawrence Westcott: My visit with Dr. Oyakhi Omoike in physical therapy and Dr. Abraham Sabersky in Nerosurgery was one of the most pleasant and productive medical experiences that I have had in some 72 years. Dr. O took the time to explain my situation after my recovery and physical therapies that I all ready received. He is very good and I would recommend him to anyone. Dr. Sabersky was my surgeon for surgery on my spine last year and all my followups with him have been outstanding. He is a great surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you Dr. Sabersky and Dr Omoike, Lawrence Westcott
Ananda Owens
Ananda Owens: Great service here, they are the epitome of a professional health care experience. Very kind and attentive workers.

Virginia Hospital Center Physician Group: what do users think?
Martha Fishbein
Martha Fishbein: Extremely poorly run practice. Very sketchy billing. Coded my annual exam improperly according to my insurance policy. When asked by the insurance company to correct the incorrect coding, the billing department ignored the request. Charged me $250 and threatened me with a collection agency for a service that is covered 100% by my policy. Wrote to the chief medical officer regarding the incorrect coding and inappropriate charge and heard nothing back. Will look for another primary care practice that is run with honest billing practices and better communication skills. One star is for the nurse practitioner who was excellent and maybe unaware of the what’s happening in the billing department.
Jen
Jen: I like my doctor but the practice is not managed well. It is impossible to schedule an appointment. Also if you are experiencing anything they deem covid symptoms they will not see you. They tell you to go to the ER or Urgent Care. Not really acceptable for a primary care physicians group.
Violet Butterscotch
Violet Butterscotch: Although I explained to a receptionist that I had not receive invasive care through my previous hmo she said she vhc would not accept me as a patient until a nurse reviewed my history. And they do not perform consultations with specialist.
Response: Hi, we regret to hear that you are displeased with your recent experience. We'd like the opportunity to discuss this with you. Please reach out to us at (703) 717-7100 at your earliest convenience to discuss how we can provide a positive experience.
Corey Wickett
Corey Wickett: Lack of professionalism is shocking. This is the 4th visit in a row I’ve taken my mom too & they’ve randomly changed the appointment. Today’s visit was scheduled over a month ago for 9:30am & the expect my elderly mother to figure out there portal system. Clearly to lazy to cal as they changed the appointment without telling the patient. Last time mom actually seen the dr was nearly 2 years ago. Thank god the nurse practitioners are actually pretty good. However, my patience is gone with this practice in Shirlington & I won’t be taking my mother back here! Time to find my mother & pancreatic cancer patient to a new clinic.
Christie Catan
Christie Catan: I have never written a review in my life, but I have been so frustrated with this group that it has driven me to. I left this practice because I was always told I had to wait a month to see a doctor when I called with an actual illness. I decided to leave when the doctor who I liked left the practice - was no longer worth the hassle. I now urgently need my medical records. I put in a request for my records (or had my other doc do it) 34 days ago. I have called several times to check on them, and they have been rude each time. This level of patient care is not acceptable.
Response: We sincerely apologize for your experience. Please call us at 703.558.6117, and ask to speak with our Director of Health Information Management, Terrie Mccray, so we can address your concerns. Thank you for your comments.
