Brothers Sew & Vac: what do users think?

Marcelle M (Traveling Miles): After my huge error in judgement (accidentally vacuuming something up into my hose and compounding the problem by taking it apart and effectively breaking it) I spent a good half day looking for a replacement hose for my Sebo D4. The manufacturer recommended Brothers as an authorized dealer. Since I live about 50 minutes away, Paul first confirmed he had a replacement and then offered to mail it at no additional cost. Problem solved! Fast forward a month and my carpet attachment wasn’t working. I called Paul and discussed the symptoms. He couldn’t diagnose over the phone since it could have been any number of things on my 10 year old machine. This time I made the trip there. Paul knew I had driven far and offered to troubleshoot while I went for a coffee. True to his word, he called and explained which parts were worn out. He offered to fix it immediately and save me an extra trip there another day. He even waived labor costs! Paul, the owner (or one of the owners, not sure) showed me the worn out parts. I completely trust his knowledge and expertise and I also like knowing that I don’t have to send my Sebo to the landfill prematurely. The service provided has been professional and thorough. I highly recommend using Brothers for your repair needs.

Kevin Lewis: I brought my Dyson vacuum cleaner here as it wasn't operating correctly. The associate was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. The best part, my vacuum was back in working order within 20 minutes! It's no mystery as to why they have a 4.7-star rating. I was a first-time customer, but this will now be my go-to place for any future vacuum-related issues.

Zak Book: Best customer service we have ever experienced! We needed a repair on the hose of our Bissell, and they told us to go grab some lunch and that it would be done by the time we finished. They were right! Took about 30 minutes and they were nothing but kind throughout the entire experience. Please take your business to them!

Asanté: Great place. They provide fast, reliable service while making sure you feel comfortable in their store. They also inform you on what repairs are needed on your machine and they don't move forward without your consent. They repair Bissell's vacuums that are under warranty for free.

Maria Moran: Best customer service ever! My husband and I bought a Sebo vacuum from them, and they had competitive pricing. Everything from trying out the vacuum to delivery of the vacuum was absolutely perfect. Thank you Bryan and Paul!!!

Orion Gilliam: Walked in with a general idea of which vacuum I wanted, was given a demo of what I was looking for, and setup with a perfect (cheaper) alternative, with no pressure on sales. Best shopping experience I've had in a long while, and great ordering/delivery service.

Paige Keller: I went into Brothers today because my vacuum was acting up. I was greeted by the brothers who were so incredibly friendly. They quickly diagnosed the problem and told me they could replace both parts right then and there. Less than 10 minutes and $20 later, my vacuum was as good as new. I went to them because of all the amazing reviews I read so I wanted to leave one of my own. I will absolutely be going back next time and would recommend them to anyone!

Louis Abramovitz: We needed repairs on a Bissell ProHeat carpet cleaner that had stopped drawing up the dirty water. We tried a repair place in Leesburg first. They told us we needed to replace the pump and solenoid - which would have cost as much as a new machine. Then we learned that Brothers is a Bissell-authorized repair center - in fact, the only one in the DMV. Turned out that our machine just needed the nozzle intake cleaned - after which it was good as new. The repairman at Brothers was very nice, and he didn't charge us anything for the fix. Well worth the drive to MD!

David Lee: The most professional carpet machine repair men in the area. They helped me fix both of my machines. Very good guys high quality products.
Response: David, So glad that we exceeded your expectations. Thank you so much for your kindness.

TraciS: This business certainly deserves 5 stars. The owner, Paul Morris fixed my Hoover Vacuum cleaner while I waited. I needed new filters and a belt. He also looked at other parts of the vacuum cleaner to make sure there were no other issues. He is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. I will not go anywhere else for servicing. I researched him on Yelp and he had all 5 star reviews.
Response: Thank you for your compliment.

Brothers Sew & Vac: what do users think?

Katie C: I had a wonderful experience with the sewing machine repair services here. I got a same - day cleaning and servicing of my Singer machine (which was gifted by my late grandmother). The kind man who helped me ( I wish I had gotten his name!) even gave me a few tips and oiled my walking foot for me when I explained it was squeaking. Quality service, and very kind. I will return here every time I need a sewing machine tune up.

Will Drake: Top notch work and great customer service. I have an 11 year old Dyson that still runs great, but needs to be tuned up or unclogged from time to time. Brothers does a fantastic job with a quick turnaround. Don't go anywhere else.

Donna Sheler: I hadn't had service for my 30+ yo Singer sewing machine in some time but it suddenly needed some repair help. Assane was a real pro who diagnosed my machine upon arrival taking it apart to see if he first could repair it, and then confidently confirmed it could be done. When I told him I had an inherited Bernina that I didn't know how to use, he offered to show me upon my return to pick up the Singer...and he did! What wonderful service! Thanks Assane and Brother's Sew & Vac.

Maddie Gill: Fantastic experience! I brought my sewing machine over because I thought I was experiencing an issue with the motor - turns out, it was my bobbin winder. Within a minute of showing them the problem, they identified where I was going wrong and how to fix it. No charge for the visit, and I walked away learning more in 10 minutes than hours online and on YouTube had been able to teach me. I will 100% come back!

Lara Drizd: Great place. They fixed my 1980s Viking sewing machine overnight and gave me tips on how not to break it again. :) Great customer service. Highly recommend!

stephen martell: I brought my Dyson in since it wasn't working properly on carpets. When I hastily cleaned it, I didn't realize I missed a spot which had a big chunk of debris decreasing the suction. The representative who helped me found it immediately, removed it, and the unit works fine again. As with a couple other reviewers who have posted, he didn't charge me anything. This is not my first time in this store and both times I have found them helpful and honest. I recommend them.

B Be: I have a beautiful computerized Brother sewing and embroidery machine that needed to be fixed as I was in the middle of sewing a dress and it died. I immediately looked online and discovered Brothers Sew and Vac here in Cleveland Park. From their great reviews, I decided to check them out. The staff was very friendly and well-versed in what was ailing my sewing machine. They even took some time to educate me on what the inside of my sewing machine looked like and the amount of work and expertise that goes into repairing them, while there during my first visit. You could tell that the staff here love what they do!! I got my machine back within a week or so of diagnosis and it is running like I just bought her!! (Thankfully they did let me know that my sick sewing machine was not a result of user error...just normal wear over time). Thank you for such excellent service! It’s now considered my sewing machine repair hospital now after such a wonderful experience. I don’t go anywhere else.

E Bacon: First online review of anything anywhere, that's how great these guys are. My vacuum brush stopped working and I brought it in only to find that there was a very easy fix. Jose showed me how to fix it next time and REFUSED TO TAKE ANY PAYMENT! Nicest shop in DC. Go here.

Barbara McKenna: I've been going to this store for 25 years to do everything from having my vacuum repaired and rebuilt, to buying used vacuums, to buying a brand new one last week (a Sebo K). My experience is always amazing. The owner is knowledgeable, really trustworthy and sometimes does minor repairs or fixes at no charge. He doesn't sell shoddy equipment, and if a manufacturer's quality declines, he is aware of it and guides you to a different solution. My last vacuum cleaner only lasted about five years, even after a major repair in year 4.Very frustrating. My new one will last 15 to 20 years. If it doesn't, I'll let y'all know. ;-)

K Keen: I accidentally sucked up some water in my vacuum and thought it was dead. After letting it dry out, I wanted to test it before buying a whole box of new vacuum bags. The gentleman working tested my vacuum and when it worked, sold me a box of bags at a better price than Amazon! He also fixed my vacuum wheel for free! Great service.

Sew Chic Fabrics and Crafts: what do users think?

Sherry U.: I visited Donna’s shop and was in awe at the fabric selection she has available for purchase. Donna’s store is welcoming, clean, and full of unique items that she has handmade! She was very attentive from the moment I walked in. She even shared that she offers sewing classes! I highly recommend visiting Sew Chic Fabrics and Crafts, In Maryland, if you are looking for someone to create clothes, masks, specialty baskets, and so much more!!
Response: This warms my heart! I am so happy to hear my customers are happy1 I can't wait until you return!

Emanuella Maria: So thankful to have found this sewing studio! I am taking advanced sewing classes, and I am learning so much! I am looking forward to class every week. Apart from the class itself, Ms. Donna is a wonderful teacher who is passionate about her craft and has an incredible eye for fabrics, design, color--she's an artist and creates her own fabrics. She works with her students individually and gives us support and encouragement. I can't recommend the studio highly enough. Love it!
Response: Thank you so much! I am happy to have you as a student especially one who is eager to learn! I am glad you found us as well. This is a great community to belong too!

Crystal Glinton-James: I first found Donna on an app called Next Door. She offered sewing classes but I didn’t follow up. Fast forward several years later and she’s now teaching me how to embroider. Donna is patient, excellent at teaching. I recommend her for all your sewing needs!! B
Response: Thank you for this wonderful review! I appreciate your confidence in my small business! I look forward to assisting with your needs for your next project!

La-Kia Kommeren: I am so happy that I drove all the way from Baltimore to this lovely shop and studio. Donna was a gracious host and great sales person. She has some fine fabrics from cotton to knit and she also has bra making kits which is a great find. The Sew Much Talent "DMV " was able to come and meet up and explore Donna's fabrics and space. She teaches and she sells sewing machines, sewing notions, as well as sewing tools ll. So I would say to any beginner, novice or professional sewer this is the place to be. Please support small businesses.
Response: I was happy to see you! Thanks so much for your kind words!

S C: I was able to get fabulous acrylic templates made for a pattern I use often. Donna had quick turn around and they've worked perfectly! I just ordered another set for my daughter to use for her scrunchie hustle. No doubts they will be fabulous, too!
Response: Thank you so much for your kind review.. repeat customers are the best!

Christopher Fisher: This is a lovely neighborhood shop. The owner, Donna, is wonderful and saved Halloween by fixing my preschooler's costume with no notice just a day before trick or treating. I highly recommend for all your sewing and craft needs!
Response: Thank you so much! It was very nice to meet you today. I hope your kiddo has a good time in his costume

Tie: I'm so happy I found Sew Chic Fabrics and Crafts. The own is very professional and very accommodating!!! Each garment that I had altered, she did an amazing job on them. They fit so perfectly. Please check her out.
Response: Thank you so much you were an excellent customer to work with! Please return again soon!

Kathleen Butler: My experience with Donna was amazing! I had purchased a maxi dress on Amazon that I wanted to have made into the high-low style. It was also not the greatest quality garment, so I wanted the seams reinforced, as well. Donna was able to accommodate all my requests, even with very little fabric to work with. She worked some kind of magic! Ive never received so many compliments on anything I’ve ever worn before! It was well worth the reasonable amount of money to have the dress of my dreams custom fitted to my body and specifications. Donna was an excellent communicator, responsive and friendly to calls and texts. She was accommodating to my schedule for fitting and pick up appointments. I could not have asked for a better experience! Supporting local, independent woman-owned businesses is important to me, too. Donna has gained a customer for life! Give her a try- I’m certain you’ll be pleased as well as I am. Thanks, Donna!
Response: Thank you so much for trusting me with special day! I look forward to working with you in the future!

aliza wasserman: Terrible customer service. She treated us with abusive, threatening and unprofessional messages for being a few days late in a final payment, one week after our baby was born. We asked for blackout curtains to be made for our newborn baby's room and she not only was late in completing the project, charged way too much at $280 for adding a panel, but the real problem is that she sent me highly offensive abusive messages. She was upset that I was late in making my final payment but it was only a week late and it was the week my baby was born, which she should have known because we explicitly said the curtains were for the new baby. The language she used, including calling me a deadbeat and threatening to send me to collections, was so shockingly unprofessional that I thought her account was hacked by a sacmmer. But when I sent an email to ask about that, she clarified that it was her, and she offered several more paragraphs of insults. Her perspective was that I was deliberately not paying her, which is so self centered of a view when someone is one week late after having a baby.

Waylon Robinson: Very professional honest knowledgeable and creative. Will definitely be returning to her for all my craft and sewing needs.
Response: It was a complete pleasure to service you.. I look forward to your next project..

Sew Magarbo: what do users think?

Elaine Cahoon: Super cute store! I love that things are curated and they carry full lines of more modern prints like ruby star society. They even started carrying some cute Japanese imports. Fat quarters everywhere. Lots of really nice blenders. Staff/owners were so nice and friendly.

Catherine C: I recently had my Pfaff Sewing Machine serviced at Sew Margarbo. The customer Service was outstanding in every way. I was greeted very professionally. The tune -up was fast and through. The owner explained the service done and shared a few hints. My machine is working as good as the first day I bought it (years ago). The owner is very pleasant, professional. A beautiful shop. I will never take my machine anywhere else. Thank you again for a great experience! Catherine

Tris Eaton: When it comes to kindness, consistency, transparency, + positive energy (any feat that makes a business the best), Sew Magarbo has it all. The staff makes any experience positive. One is never disappointed in the services they offer. I brought my sewing machine here to be serviced and it felt like a brand new machine - I almost didn't believe it was the same machine I brought in prior. Precious, the owner, is very customer-oriented. She always makes me feel at home. I have signed up for many workshops that she has taught and led and I always have so much fun. Her bubbly and personable attitude is encouraging and I feel confident whenever I sew. I love this place!

Lynne Lott: After careful consideration of different sewing machines, I went to Sew Magarbo to check out theirs. It was a very good, low pressure shopping experience. But that is only part of the reason I purchased my machine there. The commitment to the purchaser was very important to me. I want to learn about all the cool features of my machine, and there are ample opportunities for learning at Sew Magarbo. Frequent classes, telephone support if needed, and a "club" for others who purchased the same machine as me were all super benefits. I feel comfortable asking newbie questions, and appreciate getting together with others who love to learn and share.

Rebecca Chadlen: I'd have to disagree with any negative reviews on Sew Magarbo. I recently purchased my Babylock Solaris from Precious and can confidently say that my experience was wonderful! Not only is Precious kind and upbeat, her staff was well-trained and knowledgeable about each machine I was interested in. The after-sales support is like no other! Purchasing my Solaris was daunting but Precious helped me get comfortable around my machine and mentioned that if I had any other questions to let her know. She simplified the machine for me and made me feel like sewing was a hobby again, not a chore. The studio is large, open, organized, and reflects the comfort of one's home. I enjoyed my experience at Sew Magarbo and would recommend anybody to buy a machine here!

Michael Ku-DiPietro: I heard about their store through a friend and signed up my sister for a summer class. There was such a variety of fabric to choose from and it was incredibly high quality! The teachers and staff created a welcoming environment and she was always happy when I picked her up at the end of the day. Thank you Sew Magarbo!

Winnie Mioke: Absolutely recommended for purchasing of sewing machines. The staff here is incredibly helpful. I purchased a new BERNINA machine and consistently ask for help (since it's so new!). I'm treated with the same kindness that was offered prior the purchase of the machine. So worth it.

LISA RAMOS: I have been a customer of Sew Magarbo for a few years. Their customer service, friendliness and professionalism are outstanding. Imagine my surprise when I read a review stating the manager was "aggressive" while communicating the rules and policies (clearly stated on their website) to a client that was not compliant. I have never heard or seen the manager or any employee speak to anyone in a disrespectful manner. Being firm about rules that protect their customers (especially during COVID) is what I would expect and appreciate as a parent for any child attending camp at Sew Magarbo. Being fully vaccinated and wearing a mask does not give you the right to break the rules. Perhaps you have not read (policies, news, etc) about COVID breakthrough cases being contagious. Entitlement and non compliance of COVID rules shows you have no concern about harming others. I would like to thank Sew Magarbo, its manager and employees for keeping us and our children in a safe environment.

Jeff Spencer: My wife and I have purchased at least 4 machines from Sew Magarbo in the last two and a half years. She is no less than superior in her capacity as a shop owner and manager. We have taken numerous classes from her and her staff as well. She consistently over delivers when she does business with us. This is the best sewing studio and shop in Northern Virginia.

Lindsay S: I really wanted to learn to sew but needed both the space (peace & quiet!) to do so and as a complete (adult) beginner, I knew I required individualized instruction. I am so happy I found Sew Magarbo and met Miss Precious! Over a year-long course my "sewing sisters" and I each worked on our projects at our own pace and had full access to Miss Precious' expertise and the studios amazing machines, plus an incredible selection of high-quality fabrics and notions. Precious and her amazing staff provided individualized, hands on, informative tips & tricks to guide us through our projects. It was something I looked forward to every week! I am so proud of my projects, even though my seams are a little off and the hems a bit uneven, it felt so great to accomplish something each week. But probably best of all, I met and was able to work along side amazing women from all walks of life (moms, retirees, millennials) each with their own level of expertise from beginners to experienced quilters and bond with them through a truly unique craft - an experience for which I am forever grateful. They say that "you attract what you are" and Precious has both the dedicated staff and awesome clientele to prove this.

Berger's Sewing Machine, LLC: what do users think?

Cheryl Strosnider: Mr. Berger cleaned and serviced my Baby Lock sewing machine and she sews fabulously, I couldn't be happier. Also had a problem with a piece of fabric and Mr. Berger replaced the fabric as I lived so far away. Great customer service from the entire staff. Thank you

Ronald Putek: Needed sewing machine repair and tune up Service was quick and very good. Mechanic was knowledgeable and friendly

Ronan Chang: Great shop with an honest owner. I've been very lucky to find decent but broken vacuum cleaners and had them repaired here for very reasonable prices. This is also THE shop to have your sewing machines repaired or serviced!

Robert McGregor: I may just be biased but I saw the great customer service other patrons were given. Great place to go and caring staff!

Joe Friday: Friendly and helpful folks. (I needed machine servicing and repair.) Nice quilting fabric selection a plus and, despite my self- lecture, I ended up buying some great fabrics!

Anne Rosen: Older Singer machine needed maintenance and fine tuning. Ray's experience was everything and more than I expected and reasonably priced. other staff members there were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend Berger's to anyone.

Regina King: Had my two featherweight Singer sewing machines and my Bernina served by Berger over the years. Great services and excellent work. If you didn’t know, this shop also has a selection of quilting material and quilting machines.

Sue L.: Thank you so much, Raymond for making sewing fun again for this “recreational” sewing enthusiast!! I’d forgotten how a well tuned sewing machine is supposed to sound - that there shouldn’t be wild shaking or rattling! I really appreciate your help and responsiveness in taking care of my machine and for replacing the worn parts so quickly! This was my first visit to Berger’s Sewing and I am so glad that I visited because I was able to pick up fabric and supplies for cloth masks with Tina’s help (thank you again for your help, Tina) and have Raymond diagnose and remedy the problems I was having with the machine. Excellent product selection and customer service which are greatly appreciated - it’s no surprise that this family owned business continues to thrive through the years! Plenty of parking and conveniently located in the Historic District, Manassas, VA.
Response: Thanks so much and keep enjoying!👍

Tom G: Fantastic source a baby locks sewing machines. Outstanding expert repair services on all types of sewing machines and vacuum.

Crissie Kelley: These people fixed my babylock embroidery machine to Perfection better than new it's never run so good and so accurately and precisely! It was so clean I've never seen it so clean. I bought it used but it was supposedly worked on by a different shop before it was sold to me. Okay not as good as this man did for me years later. This Mom and Pop store carries brand new cotton quilting fabric and will sell you even the most beautiful Brocade for upholstery as the wife is an expert home decorator. There are in attention to detail are incredible their care and service the customer are outstanding. Please visit them and see what I have found, my little treasure in Manassas Virginia. Enjoy

Stitch Sew Shop: what do users think?

Julie Norcross: Stitch is an amazing place! I learned how to sew here, from super beginner all the way to advanced classes and jeans making. The selection of fabric and patterns is incredible, and I love the focus on natural fibers. The curation makes it far more enjoyable to shop than larger fabric stores. The staff is always super helpful and kind. I also LOVE how they now offer pattern printing! Makes buying PDF patterns super convenient! I only have rave things to say about Stitch!
Response: Thank you!

Lisa Morton: LOVE Stitch Sew Shop! While I have yet to take a class, they have helped me reignite my passion for garment sewing and embroidery. I love the fact that they are right here in Old Town Alex. Itʻs a fabulous communal concept with lots of high quality fabric, patterns, and notions, and even higher quality people. Itʻs definitely worth a fly-by or more!

M W: This review is long, long overdue but better late than never! I cannot say enough about how much I love this local fabric shop. I feel like they are the heart of the local sewing community and the staff here have helped me with fabric/sewing questions more times than I can recall. The quality of the fabric and notions offered are superb and the pattern selection is wonderful. Since COVID, they now also offer an online shop where you can order for curbside pick-up or delivery. If you're looking for fabric for a project, and whether you are a brand new sewer or experienced, you will find what you need here!
Response: Thank you, Maria! We appreciate your support.

Maddie Gill: I love shopping at Stitch Sew Shop! I've visited both online and in-person, and their selection is top notch. They are also really helpful in explaining different fabric properties and notion uses, and since I'm a beginner sewist I really appreciate their insight. Their packages come within a few days, usually faster than Amazon! I look forward to visiting more and taking a class once the pandemic is over.

Ellie: I have been searching for a shop that specifically serves garment sewists in the DMV area and I think this is the one! This shop stocks a wide range of indie pattern designers, offers classes, fabric, notions, and will even print a PDF pattern for you on A0 paper- it's everything a sewist could want. When I visited, I was helped by an associate who helped me understand the difference between ballpoint vs. jersey. vs double needles for sewing knits. If you wonder what thread you need to match the fabric you're buying, they have a thread index where everything is pre-matched and they can recommend what color you should buy. My fabric purchase was kindly wrapped in tissue paper which is a marked difference in care and customer service from a large craft store. I anticipate visiting this shop frequently because not only do they have an excellent selection of fabric and notions, they have the expertise to help you make decisions on a project. I love knowing I can visit a shop that will have everything I need, rather than having all the component parts shipped to me.

C R: Wonderful team and such fun atmosphere. I took two classes with Cristian and he is very knowledgeable, patient and fun to work with. The store is very well organized with a large amount of sewing supplies. Their fabric is very beautiful and very fair priced. It’s a nice experience from the moment you walk through the door until you walk out. I highly recommend the classes, your time and money will be well spent. And you will support a local business rather than big corporations.

Danielle Arthur: I stopped by Stich Sew Shop with a friend. We both had small children with us. The staff was not only super friendly, but also very accommodating. I needed to change my daughter and both ladies in the shop were so kind in helping me find an easy, safe place to do so. Of course, they have a great variety of unbelievably beautiful fabrics, patterns, and notions, too. I highly recommend this adorable shop for both the quality of their products and their service! It was an absolute delight to shop there.

Artemiza Kolacevska: I went on first time ever and saw a cute little scissors pin. The associate was not very helpful when I asked to get one ( didn’t know I could help myself?!?!) and told me that was the lady. Did not offer to sell it to me , so I asked to buy it. Not very happy and pleasant .... a friend told me I should have just walked out. Well, I didn’t and Zi did buy the LAST ( !!!!???) one. But I am NOT ever going back. I did not feel welcomed there. Too bad- such a nice location with unfriendly service.

Jessica Stoll: A little pricey but that's reflective of the quality. Great fabric, tools, and kits. Took a class and it was fantastic, also went in for a private lesson to help me figure out some sewing machine issues. Definitely recommend.

Lance Pablo: Nice facility and friendly staff. I took a primer class from Mary and she is very knowledge and patient. I've learned so much and it's well worth the time and money. Learned the basics of a sewing machine and even made myself my first pin cushion. Looking forward for more classes!

Ellicott City Sew-Vac: what do users think?

Wilma Peppers: For more than 20 years I've been bringing my dying Singers, Brothers, Kirby's, and now Bissells here for repair. They have always been professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. What more could you want? Oh, yes, fast turnaround! Thank you, Sew-Vac, for resurrecting my various items and for telling me when it was time to let go.

solstice9ful: Excellent, courteous customer service and sewing, vacuum repair ! o4/o6/2o22 BabyLock Brilliant sewing machine performs amazingly on denim material. Those old beloved jeans no need to toss, Brilliant can sew heavy denim with no issues. o3/22/2o22 my 4oyrs sewing/quilting has been supported by Ellicott City Sew and Vac's phenomenal, dedicated, courteous 25yr service for all manual sewing machines. 11/2o21 The purchased BabyLock Brilliant sewing machine has amazing qualities, cuts thread, thread needle, knee lift, many choices of stitches with much more yet to experience. Quilting is half the time on BabyLock Brilliant, no fumbling with frustrating threading needles and cutting long threads. Ask myself why I didn't purchase sooner ? I am definitely enjoying quilting, daily ❤️.

Lisa Petit: Sent my daughters here for a sewing camp. Ms. Caitlyn is awesome and this store is amazing! The store is clean and organized. I am impressed.

Terri Trembeth: If you're looking for quality vacuum repair or a good vacuum, go to Ellicott City Sew-Vac! I have owned a Riccar vacuum for 13 years. Purchased from another store that since went out of business, I took my vacuum to EC Sew Vac for repairs a couple years ago. Since then, I take it in for annual servicing. At the end of last year, my vacuum wasn't working well. I followed the manual, but nothing helped. I took the vacuum to EC Sew-Vac. When ready, I picked it up on Saturday, and tried the vacuum on Sunday; the rug roller light was lit and wouldn't vacuum on rug or floor. I emailed the store Sunday, when they are closed. Although it was Sunday, the owner reached out to me. She asked that I bring the vacuum back for further servicing. The motor needed replacing; it was ordered from Riccar. Due to Covid causing employee issues and shipping delays, there was a couple weeks delay in making and shipping the motor. The owner updated me about Riccar's progress. When the motor arrived, I dropped off my vacuum; it was ready the next day. Both vacuum repair tech and store employees were professional and courteous during my visit. A "test drive" of the vacuum at home showed it was working well again. During the couple weeks of waiting and having a pet who sheds hair in the home, we purchased another Riccar at the lower end of pricing from EC Sew-Vac. The salesperson showed the models, and the vacuum repair tech assembled the vacuum in the store. Although more expensive, you can't go wrong with a Riccar, they last a long time. And I'll continue to have mine serviced at Ellicott City Sew-Vac.
Response: Thanks Terri!

Sherry Snyder: This is the best shop I have visited. If you are looking for a sewing machine, this is Babylock headquarters! Great selection of all things notions, patterns, embroidery and quilt. Plan to spend a few hours. You don't want to miss a thing! Great staff, very knowledgeable. Best customer service!

Julia Klag: This story is a great repository of sewing knowledge, goods and furniture. The staff are very helpful and I found them to be very forthright in their dealins

Shirelle Jones: I was helped the moment I walked in. The guy helping me was super knowledgeable about sewing machines and was able to offer multiple recommendations based on my level and needs. He sat down with me and showed me how it worked and was overall pleasant. I look forward to continuing doing business here and HIGHLY recommend it.
Response: Thanks Shirelle!

Ginger Dani: They do a great job on keeping my braceros sewing machines in good shape and working perfectly. Next time I need to buy a serger, I'm definitely buying from them

Samantha Madison: Ellicott Sew-Vac is The Best!!! First, customer service is top-notch. First visit, Katelyn was very knowledgeable and detailed. She explained the machine I was interested in as well as step up and down. Second visit, I had my Brother Pacesetter sewing machine serviced. No charge for diagnostic and to fix it was extremely reasonable. My most recent visit, I purchased a new Baby Lock. I met Janet who was very informative about all the cool things I can do with this machine. I mean I was standing there with my mouth open under my mask while social distancing. Their team is just amazing!!! Professional, knowledgeable, friendly. It's an hour drive from where I live and other vendors are closer; but, the things I mentioned make it well worth the trip.

DukeandDauphin Donald: This company has an outstanding sewing machine repairman. He has fixed 4 vintage Pfaffs for me (360, 1209, 1222e, and 1471), all of which had serious repair issues. The costs were entirely reasonable. These old Pfaffs are great machines but they're very persnickety and it's hard to find a repairman with the skills to fix them. I feel very lucky to have found this excellent company.

Sun Sew Vac: what do users think?

C D: I took my Singer sewing embroidery machine to this store for service. I paid a $35 deposit. A few days later the owner called me and quoted me $ 247.95 to service it. I had to ask the price twice to make sure I heard correctly. Knowing my machine was not broken, but just needed service I took it to Vacuum Center in Falls Church where the machine was serviced for $ 80 ( + $20 for a new bobbin). Reply to response from owner: my machine was not broken and did not need repair. It needed a tune up. As I explained my surprise when hearing the price the owner reply was that it would cost me more to buy a new machine. When I said I was not going to proceed I was asked to pick the machine within hours because it was in "the way". My machine was fully serviced, cleaned, aligned for $80 by an honest business.
Response: Thank you for taking time to provide feedback. We are sorry you did not have a good experience with us and wanted to take the opportunity to respond to your one star rating of our small business. Our recommended repair on your embroidery machine was to Singer factory standards. It appears you opted to take your machine elsewhere for a “fast repair” to replace a part without a complete service of your machine. There is a difference in the cost of just a quick fix and a complete service. A sewing machine service with us includes: • Evaluate Function Issues Noted Upon Receiving Machine • Adjust Bobbin Tensions • Adjust Upper Tensions • Adjust Stitch Balance • Adjust Check Spring Operation • Adjust Needle Bar & Hook Timing as Needed • Check Thread Cutter (If Applicable) • Check Bobbin Winder & Stop • Check Buttons, Keypad, & Touch Screen (When Applicable) • Check & Correct Any Abnormal Noises • Clean Interior, Exterior of Machine & Check for Damage • Check Sewing Lamps • Check Running Speed • Lubricate (If Applicable) • Adjust Button-Hole Sensor Foot (If Applicable) • Check Needle Threader (If Applicable) • Check Foot Control (If Applicable) • Sew Test Samples (Embroidery If Applicable) It's our responsibility to make sure that all machines are maintained as recommended. The Sewing Machine Dealers Association recommends that each machine should be serviced annually. All repairs are completed by a certified technician and our work has a 1 year warranty on all parts and a 90 day warranty on all labor. We take pride in what we do and have received many accolades over the years in our industry, including SMDA international dealer of the year and our induction into the international SMDA/VDTA hall of fame. We have been described as the best local sewing machine repair shop by the Washington Post and have been covered by the local news station. We hope this clarifies your experience with us and wish you would have come to us so that we had the opportunity to work with you on an agreeable solution. Please let us know if we may be of assistance to you in the future and we wish you the best.

Kathy Utgoff: My experience was fantastic. I wanted to give my daughter an old family Singer sewing machine and Sun Sew Vac restored it beautifully for a very reasonable price. The owner even helped me learn how to use the machine again after 50 years. He created a wonderful family heirloom.
Response: Thank you for the feedback Kathy! We are so happy to hear about your experience with us. Happy sewing !

M Paula Neumann: I have been going to Sun Sew Vac for 30+ years. I have purchased a few vacuum cleaners and a sewing machine there and have had them serviced and repaired over the years. The service has always been professional and timely. The owner recently went out of his way to provide me with a temporary fix for my sewing machine so I could continue to use it while he ordered a part. Highly recommend.
Response: Thank you for your nice words! We truly aim to deliver top notch customer service and it’s customers like you who really make our day. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do.

Cindy A: "Sew" great to find this business! My Kenmore sewing machine works great after service by Robert. I worried that I would have to replace the machine because the presser foot tensioner broke, and Sears doesn't really exist anymore. But Sun Sew Vac fixed that AND cleaned 40 years of gunk in it. The machine sews like a dream and is remarkably quiet. My only concern was that they had the machine for 3 weeks before I called to ask out it. The service was completed 3 days later. Thank you, Sun Sew Vac!
Response: Thank you Cindy!! We are SO glad to hear you are satisfied with our service and greatly appreciate your understanding on the longer than normal service turnaround time. We are one of the few locations in the DC area and we have been trying to keep up with the demand as best we can!

Frankie Hughes: I could not be more pleased with the repair service at Sun Sew Vac. Recently I took in my mother's 30 year old serger for repair. Although the owner advised me that it was unlikely that it could not be restored to service because of it's condition, he none the less took up the challenge. Fortunately, he was able to get it running again. I am grateful to him for his perseverance.
Response: Thank you!

Lauren Lynch: Family owned business and the only place to go to get a Miele vacuum! I have had Dyson handhelds and the roller ball canister and it just pushed around dirt and dust and was a pain to empty. Growing up my mom had a Miele, and I would volunteer to vacuum. So had to return to that quality of cleaning and went and visited Bob Hines. He asked me about my vacuum needs and walked me through his available products. Even letting me test drive them. Happily walked out (actually he carried it out to my car) with a pretty new canister vacuum. Super happy with the customer service, purchase and will definitely be returning for future purchases! Thank you!
Response: Thanks Lauren! We hope to see you again soon.

Donna Pumphrey: I appreciate every aspect of this business! The owner Robert Hines is very knowledgeable and honest. I’ve been doing business with him for years and can’t imagine going anywhere else. He and his staff are very friendly and professional too. He sells high end products but services all brands out there. Thank you for consistent excellent customer service.
Response: Thank you Donna!

Farm Lenses: Expert telephone service to help me buy a machine in my price range (cheap) over the phone. I'm a professional seamstress, but I haven't bought a home machine in decades, and I really didn't need to look at things, I just needed to pick one, pay for it, and curbside pickup. They handled my questions flawlessly and my payment easily, and had my machine set up at no extra charge when I came for curb side pickup. Most sew and vac stores still excel in customer service, but I enjoyed the reminder nonetheless. I just moved to the East Coast, and Sun Sew Vac will me my permanent sewing store.
Response: Thank you for the nice review! We have had to adjust the way we traditionally do business due to the pandemic and are glad we could provide quality curbside service for you. We appreciate your support and please let us know if you need anything else from us. Stay safe!

John Halstead: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueTook our vacuum to Sun Sew Vac for a second opinion. They quickly assessed the problem and repaired saving us loads. They take the time to do repairs right. Highly recommend.
Response: Thanks John! We are glad to hear you had a good experience with us.

stacey bertotti: Where do I start? Robert, the owner is honest, upfront and an absolute pleasure to work with! My older Pfaff had some issues and he jumped right in to work on the machine! In addition, we did purchase a new Pfaff and Robert made the process easy and incredibly smooth! I can’t recommend Sun and Sew Vac more! If you’re looking to buy a new sewing machine or just have yours serviced, look no further! This is the best!
Response: Thank you Stacey! Your review made us smile! We are very happy to hear you enjoyed your experience with us and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything else.

A Special Lee Sewing and Craft Cafe: what do users think?

Linda Alpuche: I had bought a sewing machine during the pandemic and had no idea how to use it. Antoinette told me to bring it with me to class. During the first few projects I learned how to use it ! I like Antoinette's approach that this is a creative journey and to celebrate the successes. The pillow we made in class was small and successful. I love the bag I made. I continue to improve my skills with Antoinette's no nonsense guidance. I like the small class and the ability to work at my own pace and ask questions as a need to. I will keep coming back!
Response: Thanks so much Linda! It is my goal to provide the best sewing experience possible. I will continue to do my best for you each class!

Hannah Winsten Orenstein: Antoinette is a phenomenal teacher. I signed up for the 8-week beginner series and picked up basic sewing skills very quickly — I even went home with a finished pillow after my first class! I found the class structure really conducive to learning and retaining skills. After learning the basics the first two weeks, you work independently on a final project (with personalized instruction from Antoinette) and it helps build your confidence in using the sewing machine. The studio in Antoinette's home is also well-organized, clean and stocked with everything you would need to complete a project. Going to class is the highlight of my week and I look forward to signing up for more classes.
Response: Thanks Hanna! It was my pleasure teaching you. I aim to offer students a great learning environment especially if you are a beginner. I look forward to seeing you in the next class. All my best, Antoinette

Meaghan Byrne: I was really excited about this class off the bat, and had been looking for someone to help me get beyond the basics, which effectively where I was given that my mother sewed a lot growing up. I was fairly happy with the first class. Antoinette is nice, but strict about how fast folks move through the work. I was coming to this class after a full working week, and was often a little tired, and I felt like I was made to feel bad about this in the second class. I have to say I was quite put off by the third class. I had asked if my boyfriend could sit in the other room and wait while I did the class as we were going to dinner afterward for my birthday (which was that day). Antoinette told me he could wait in my office (which is no where nearby?) and that this class (which I paid for) wasn’t a sewing circle. I hardly think my ask was extreme: he wasn’t going to be doing any sewing. Antoinette calls me during the middle of the work day to discuss, which I was unable to pick up, but never got back to me on the question. I found this behavior a bit bizarre to be honest, and decided I’d rather not spend time in an environment that felt a little hostile. I really wish it had turned out differently as I was excited about it, but I’m a adult and I don’t expect to be treated like a child by a teacher who I have paid good money.
Response: Greetings Meaghan, it is always my intention to give the best sewing experience possible. I am sorry you didn't feel that's what you got. My policy has always been only registered students in the studio, especially during Covid. Take care! All my best, Antoinette

Lauren: I recommend this class to everyone- whether you are looking to pick up a new hobby or are wanting to become someone who sews regularly. I took classes with Antoinette for several months in the beginning of 2021, and it was the most wonderful experience. I am learning to sew with the intent to make my own clothes. During classes with Antoinette, I learned to make 2 garments as well as a pillow and tote bag. Antoinette is an amazing, patient, welcoming, and highly experienced teacher-- I can not recommend her enough!!
Response: Thanks so much Lauren! It was my pleasure. You were an awesome student! Hope to see you again in class. All the best to you!

Izy A: Ms Lee’s class was so fun! The environment is lovely, she is very thorough with her explanations, and made sure to give me space to try to figure out what I could on my own. I’ve never had a sewing class before, and now I’ve made my very own skirt and bag, and I think they came out really cute! I can’t wait to take another class with her. Highly recommend!
Response: Thank you Izy! It was my pleasure teaching you! You were awesome and I like that you were eager to understand on your own. Great job! See you soon.

Ana Avendano: I love this studio. I've completed two sessions, and can't wait for the third. Antoinette is a wonderful teacher who is passionate about her craft, and has an incredible eye for fabrics, design, color--she's an artist. She taught me to make a quilt, which required learning patience and persistence, as well as techique. She works with her students individually, and gives us support and encouragement without coddling us, and I really appreciate that because it helps me to strive to be better. I can't recommend the studio highly enough. Love it!
Response: Thanks Ana!

Nilufar Baratova: I love this wonderful oasis of creativity and fun. Ms. Antoinette is an amazing teacher, courageous entrepreneur and simply a beautiful soul who is passionate about her job. I had zero sewing skills and it is fascinating to see my transformation. I already made cool pillow covers, a cute polka dot skirt and I am working on my dress to impress project. I always look forward to my sewing classes where I can socialize with artistic people who love colors.

Paola Vidal: Took my first class today and most certainly looking forward to come back! The studio has a a great vibe, perfect to feel comfortable to work and learn. Antoinette was very nice, professional and patient. Left feeling very excited and confident about my future projects!

Renela Rucker: So thankful to have found A Special Lee Sewing Studio! I absolutely loved this sewing class. I learned so much about my sewing machine and basic sewing. With Ms. Lee’s guidance and expertise, I was able to leave the Complete Beginners Series with a handmade pillow, tote bag, my very own unique skirt, and a whole new confidence in my ability to create! I looked forward to class every week. She makes the environment very comfortable and inviting and makes sure you know that it’s okay to ask questions. Apart from the class itself, Ms. Lee is a great person. She is open, straight forward, and flexible. She shared more than sewing knowledge with me and I am grateful to have met her! I definitely plan to take more classes in the future!

Elena Butler: Great space and wonderful teacher. Ms Antoinette is attentive, kind and tailors the classes to the students’ needs. See picture of what I made during class.
Response: Thanks Elena. It was a great pleasure teaching you!

Mechanic sewing machine repairs: what do users think?

Rebekah Merkle: Great service. He came to us to fix the sewing machine. The issue was fixed very quickly and now it runs great. Highly recommend! I would definitely call again if I have other issues in the future
Response: Thanks

Sherrette Estes: Yes. I read the poor reviews but wanted to give this business a chance anyway. Why? It was close to my house and I like that it is someone trying to work independently. However, it was a giant waste of time. I called and asked if I could get my sewing machine fixed. He said that I could drop it off after 5, when he would be home from work. I ASKED, “do I need to call you before I come?” He specifically said no. As long as it was after 5pm. So at 5 pm I loaded me, the machine, and my 10 month old baby up and drove over. I arrived at 5:35 and called only to find that he was not at home. His response? “I waited for you but you didn’t come”. Look, I get that people forget things, or things come up, but don’t put the blame on the customer. I was annoyed to say the least and will be taking my business elsewhere.
Response: I understand your anger, it is not my fault, I waited for you, I explained to you that I had to text me first before going to leave your machine at my house, you did not do it, it is not my fault, I work independently in providing service repairs machines industrial sometimes one cannot wait to clients or not arriving on time to our work destination due to traffic

Ber.adette Pilliod: I scheduled a sew machine drop-off appointment for June 27 2020 Saturday. I called june 26 to confirm. I was told Saturday was not good, they were going to the beach. he told me to come sunday. I called sunday ahead before driving 45 minutes. I was told sunday was not good, but I should come Monday. I gave up!!! very unprofessional to string me along like that. I found a repair place elsewhere.

Karen Portsmouth: This guy is the most unprofessional person I've ever encountered in my life, he made me drive all the way from Silver Spring to Riverdale, in the rain, after I called him to confirm our appointment, because he canceled our appointment for the day before! I got to his house, called him, he told me he is coming, then called me back to ask if I had brought the machine pressure foot with me, after I confirmed I did, I waited outside his house for almost an hour, he never showed up, and stop taking my calls! Very unprofessional, do not deserve to be a technician!

Julie J: I tried to call to make an appointment and ask a few questions but the repair person didn't have time to speak and basically hung up the phone. I would recommend that you don't answer the phone and allow people to leave messages if you are going to act that way to customers! Very disappointed and fortunately for me there are other businesses that repair sewing machines! Good luck with treating people that way!

Tracie Moore: Positive: Professionalism, QualityQuick turnaround. Very much appreciated
Response: Thanks

Hinkletown Sewing Machine Shop: what do users think?

Diane Gontero: Never thought I could afford the BERNINA quality, but I was given a fabulous deal on a long arm machine, plus the very knowledgeable representative threw in ALL the bells and whistles that I longed for, for free! I couldn't be happier. They will set it up for me and give instructions also, plus come to my house for any maintenance!

Maria V: I’m so happy that I found this sewing shop. They took good care of my long arm quilting machine. They fixed it in two days and the cost was so afordable!!! The other shop that I took it to the day before I found this one told me they couldn’t look at it for six weeks, and couldn’t guarantee that they could fix it, and they even told me I will probably need a new part and that obviously was not true. I certainly will bring all my sewing machines to Hinkletown sewing shop….I don’t mind the 45 minute drive either the country out there is absolutely beautiful!

Richard Mazur: The folks at Hinkletown are friendly, knowledgeable, and very customer oriented. They will help you get what you need or want and they will spend the time to insure you will be happy with your purchase. I'd give them 6 stars if I could.

Elizabeth Bare: I love this place! I bought a serger here and the service was excellent. Prices for the quality are very good. It’s worth a trip. I found their threads reasonably priced as well.

Debbie Field: I travel 1 1/2 hours to get here and it is definitely worth the trip. They are extremely knowledgeable in the products they sell. I bought my first Bernina there a few years ago. The three hour classes they offer are very informative and helpful . I highly recommend taking this especially for a first- time Bernina owner. In addition to the variety of sewing ,quilting, and embroidery machines, they sell beautifully made sewing cabinets that I also purchased . I love it!! The employees are more than happy to assist you with all your questions and you never feel rushed . I am so glad that I discovered this wonderful store with wonderful people. I’ll be back no matter what the price of gas costs!

Debby Kozel: Excellent customer and repair service. Repaired my Bernina 1260 in one day. A different authorized shop deemed it 'unrepairable' after three weeks. Bit of a ride from where we are in Virginia, but worth every minute.

Simone Kereit: If you need anything Bernina, this is the place! Service and repair is done on any sewing machine, but they are an authorized Bernina dealer and have like every machine under the sun! Also, if you're easily tempted by fabric, this place has none 😂 so it's safe to come drop off your machine, without enhancing your stash!

Connie King: Nice sewing machine shop. Knowledgeable and friendly employees. Many colors of thread, nice selection of sewing needs. Quality Bernina machines. Staff is patient and takes the time to explain machines. They want you to get what you need and not pushy or trying to upsell. Nice selection of used machines. Prices are competitive and they service what they sell.

Jasmine Rodriguez: Visit this place on my search for a new juki sewing machine they can order but they didn't haven't on display.the place is very friendly and had great options i will visit them again.

joy thacker: They did a wonderful job fixing my 1980's Singer machine for $43 a very reasonable fee. I highly recommend them. They took time to answer any questions. They are located in a lovely country setting.

Hayes Sewing Machine Company: what do users think?

Eileen Hogan: I have been going to Mr. Hayes' store ever since I moved to West Chester, PA. He is super nice and really knows his stuff. Her personally called me the other day to say my Touch & Sew machine could not be fixed. I am so sad, it was my first machine since 1974. He won't even take payment for his time! He and his daughter have worked on it many times over the years. I ran beginners classes for a number of years and brought all my student machines to them for cleaning and tuning. Super job and reasonable. I love their selection of quality fabrics. Have a good selection of notions. Even when I couldn't find a button foot in the store for my Touch & Sew, his daughter went right to the back shop and got one for me. They are all so nice and friendly. They will continue to be my go to place for fabric and machine repairs.

Francis Bastianelli: Great place for all your sewing needs. The people there know all about sewing, embroidery and quilting. They're experts on machines and repair many brands. They also sell used machines with 1year Guarantees. A good family business.

Melissa Forsythe: Just had my sewing machine fixed, and they did an incredible job, it feels like using a brand new machine again. They have a huge selection of anything your little seamstress-heart could desire and the staff are all very warm, helpful and welcoming people.

Marilyn B: Mr. Hayes always does a great job of servicing my machine which I purchased there in 2004. This last time in August he did all the regular cleaning and lubricating, etc, but did not charge me because he couldn't get the stitches perfect. I was amazed and so thankful. I do have a complaint however regarding notification from the staff that my machine was ready. I had been told it would take two weeks. I kept waiting to hear that it was ready, but didn't. Because I had seen about 40 or 50 sewing machines lined up in the store when I dropped mine off, I waited until three and a half weeks before calling. The lady I spoke with told me it was ready after 1 week, and that they tried to call but because of a storm couldn't get through. I just couldn't believe that they had not tried to reach me again. I was kept waiting an unnecessary extra 2 1/2 weeks when I really did need my machine.

Lee Hoehn: This is the best place ever to get a Sewing Machine fixed. Mr Hayes does the repairs he has been doing it for over 54 years he sure knows his stuff. They have a wealth of parts for newer and older machines. He will even look at your machine for free , if you bring it in, and give you an idea what is wrong with it and how much it will cost to fix (Almost unheard of-most repair people want to charge just to look at it). The store is neat well stocked with new machines, parts and A great selecion of fabrics for quilters.

Megan Z: I just needed to leave a glowing review about Mr. Hayes! I called the shop today because my machine was having tension issues. I explained what problems I was having and asked about bringing it in to be fixed. Mr. Hayes spoke with me over the phone and walked me threw the simple fix that my machine needed. He knew what the problem was right away and how to fix it. I appreciated his help so much and expertise and I will absolutely be bringing my machine here for it's regular maintenance!

Lindsey McClain: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ValueFrom the first time I walked in the door, they were warm and helpful and obviously love seeing people find a passion for sewing. The owner takes the time to start a conversation. I love this shop.

Katie Marie: Wonderful shop and people there! I had a sewing emergency and needed to finish something before I could get my machine repaired. They were so nice as to let me use a machine in the store the day I dropped off my machine for repair so that I could finish a project. You can tell that they actually care about the customers and take pride in everything they sell and offer in the store. Sewing machine repair was quick, and I am already signed up to take a class here because I had such a great experience with the service. Highly recommended!

Diane Kinney: Nice people. Low pressure experience buying my new Baby Lock Accolade Serger. Answered all my questions, let me know promptly when the shipment came in.

Ardean Phillips: Hayes is always helpful. They have a thorough knowledge of the machines and have always been able to repair my machines. I even trust my featherweight , Lizzy , with them. They give classes that teach you all the little stitches that your machine will do. They have even helped me repair my machine over the phone.

Jeff's Sewing & Vacuum: what do users think?

Spuds Nagel: There are two sewing shops in Augusta, and Jeff's is by far the better. They have a good selection of sewing machines, vacuums, and sewing supplies. They even carry some great potato fabric. The employees are friendly, helpful, and not at all pushy. The sewing machine we bought came with a free lesson and free needles, bobbins, and feet. Another perk is 10% off all future purchases. Highly recommend.

Donna Oellerich: Can't saw enough good about Jeff's. Kathy is the sweetest and most knowledgeable person. You have to love her. Jeff is going to sell you his very last machine. I think Jeff could fix anything. Fabulous place.

janine kurkowski: This was the first time using their vacuum repair services. I loved the mom-and-pop feel of the store. Excellent service. Quick, professional, and prices are very reasonable. I am not a sewer, sadly, but those that are it appears to have a significant variation to select from and classes from what it looked like. I 100% recommend this store and plan to support this local business in the future.

Brian Germann: They were very helpful! Their is much larger than what is present on the website. Helped me find perfect sewing machine for my daughter.

George Ruiz: Lovely Place always go and get my vinyl from the store all the ladies there are lovely I'm really sweet. Great selection of vinyls in all colors heat transfer and regular vinyl he also have embroidery machines and sewing machines also classes are available to learn how to use these machines come check them out.

Darla Andrews: I have been taking my vacuum cleaners and sewing machines to Jeff's for over 20 years. I have always been pleased with the repairs; especially how quickly the repairs are done. I recently bought a Brother Innovis embroidery machine from Jeff. The price was more than reasonable. I had lessons on how to operate the machine from Vickie. She is awesome..very patient. All of the employees are very nice and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend Jeff's.

jennie murphy: My husband bought me a Janome DC 2011 in 2011. I am very impressed with the machine. The only time that I had to do is order a new needle plate. It was very reasonable. They are great people to buy from. I am very happy that they had ordered it for me. This corona-virus has had me busy making masks..........Thank you Jeff’s Sewing Center 👍☺️

Deborah Holland: I found Jeff's quite by accident and they are now my go to store. Great selection of fabrics and notions. Super classes. Staff goes out of their way to help. They are even willing to service my machines even though I did not buy them from them.

Helga Whittaker: Their sewing machine service is superb, and best of all, no waiting for two or three weeks. The staff is very knowledgeable and so sweet and helpful. I love their fabric collection. Highly recommend Jeff's.

Charles Didden: We recently moved to the area and my wife needed some Mettler thread for a project she is working on. We called and spoke to the manager, then drove to the store to see what they had. The manager was so helpful, courteous, respectful and professional. We were able to get what Nancy needed, along with more goodies for her quilting room. We highly recommend Jeff's!

Augusta Sewing Center: what do users think?

lt32253: Picked up my wife's sewing machine that was in for repair. Nice people.

Mary Jo Middleton Williams: Took in my BERNINA 770 sewing machine for an update and cleaning. Thank you for repairing it in record time!

Billie Ann Stewart: I want to give a shout out for the great support I got!! Meg and Vivian went above and beyond what they had to do for me! I am not a computer person and they were more than patient with me! Thank you so much! I will not forget all your help and will always sing your praises!!❤️❤️

Debra Jones: I took my sewing machine to get serviced. Drop off was fast. Quilting and embroidery classes are offered

Juan Lopez: Great service and very pleasant to deal with.

Kara Swancy: ASC is the only place around that not only sells Bernina and Babylock but they also service them in house. Their quilting cotton selection is top notch and they run sales more often than not. I highly recommend this store for both the beginner sewing and professional alike.

Nancy Fezler: I was in dire need of immediate service of my Bernina or needed to purchase a new one. I checked the hours of Augusta Sewing Center, also called them and was advised of their closing time. All said 4:00pm. Upon arrival in their parking lot today at 3:10pm. a little man inside the store, ran from the back of the store to the front door and locked it. Then he just as quickly disappeared. I tried to call from my car but there was no answer. Is this your example of good customer service??? I am new to the area and trusted the information I read about Augusta Sewing Center. They are wrong! You have lost a very good customer! Pathetic way to conduct business. I am due for at least one new machine but will not be purchasing here. I will not do business with a shop that has so little regard for people. Shame on you!!
Response: Hello Nancy - Thank you for reaching out. I am very sorry about your negative experience at ASC and I would like to learn more about your specific situation and make things right. If you wouldn't mind emailing me so we can set up at a time to talk. I can be reached at Nick@AugustaSewing.com. I am very concerned about your experience. We never lock the doors (we have two entrances) during business hours and I don't know who might have locked the door or why? I also show on the timestamp of our POS that we had 5 transactions between 3:10 and 4pm on Saturday, May 30th. We lock our door after the close of every business day and take 1-2 hours to deep clean and sanitize. Once we start our sanitizing procedures we can't open the door or let any customers into the store and we don't answer the phone. We are vigilant about cleaning and sanitizing and reducing the spread of Covid-19. We follow all local and CDC guidelines and recommendations. Thank you so much for your review, please know that I am taking this seriously and I would welcome more details so I can make sure that no one else has this experience. Again, I apologize.

Steven Miller: Very nice store. They have a really good selection of machines and supplies. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I went in to get my wife's birthday gift and they were able to help me narrow it down to the best choice for what my wife wants to do.
Response: Thanks for the kind words. You made our day! I've passed this onto the team.

Linda Haupt: I've used this business for years for Dyson vacuum repair and sewing supplies. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. Today David was extremely helpful with ordering a new vacuum part.
Response: Thanks Linda! I will pass the compliment onto David.

Alva Bussey: I purchased a brand new Baby Lock Sewing Machine for $99. It is not the fancy-schmancy one, but it sews like a dream. They nice young lady showed me how to operate the sewing machine before I left the store.
Response: We hope you enjoy sewing on your new sewing machine! If you need anything else or have questions about your machine please let us know!

Hooven Sewing Machine Co: what do users think?

Beth Coxon: Love this store! They have the best customer service. I have been very impressed with their knowledge on the machines and sewing in general. Their willingness to help and make sure my issue was resolved and that I was satisfied is something rarely seen these days! The only complaint I have is that they are too far away. I wish I were closer.
Response: Thank you for your past review Beth! We appreciate your business!

Janice Kondilas: I don’t usually write reviews, but the lady I spoke to on the phone (sorry forgot your name) was so kind & helpful I just had to thank her publicly. I was having trouble with my machine jamming up underneath when I would try to sew. I tried a few things on my own but nothing worked ! Instead of telling me to bring it in she gave me some tips over the phone to get it working saving me the cost $ of bringing it in. I got it going again THANKS to her. I didn’t think you could get that kind of caring customer service any more. Would not hesitate to patronize this business. Thanks again ❣️
Response: Thank you for your past review Janice! We appreciate your business!

Leah Stewart: I have taken old machines for repair and purchased a new machine here. I took some lessons and am always impressed with Diane’s knowledge. Very helpful and honest, caring people. My favorite go to sewing place! Highly recommend!
Response: Thank you for your past review Leah! We appreciate your business!

Heather Z: I just spoke with a lovely person over the phone about seeing if they could fix my machine (not a baby lock). She asked me questions about the machine to see if she could still possibly help me. Got the machine to work. But she was able to also answer my questions about a baby lock that I was interested in. Very helpful and very caring over the phone
Response: Thank you for your past review Heather! We appreciate your business!

Kathleen Ostrowski: Diane and Butch are the best. I took a very old machine to the shop for repair. Diane repaired it without fee, ordered the needles and gave me an instruction book. This is the best place for repairs. Even though I live an hour away, I will make the trip. Thank you.
Response: Thank you for your past review Kathleen! We appreciate your business!

Samatra Johnson: I found this place and Diane because I was making masks for patients in the VA. I have been almost everyday since I found it. Diane is very knowledgeable and helpful. The customer service is A1 and at a time when sewing supplies in general are scarce they have had almost everything I’ve needed.
Response: Thank you for your past review Samatra! We appreciate your business!

L L Hill: I thought my sewing machine was broken. I called, Diane said bring it in we will look at it. Needless to say, it was "in between the ears error". I enjoyed their company so much I signed up for a sewing project with them. They are excellent teachers and supporters!!!! I plan to do more projects. Thank you ladies especially Chris... I love my bag!!!
Response: Thank you for your past review! We appreciate your business!

Sonia Skolnick: The gentleman that answered the phone suggested that I tweak one screw on my serger to get it to stop dropping stitches. It worked! That saved me $80- $150 that other shops were asking to look at it and fix it! His knowledge and courtesy in just making the suggestion and not looking for $ makes me want to take all of my machines to him and recommend him to others!
Response: Thank you for your past review Sonia! We appreciate your business!

Robert Hullihen: Customer serviceIs excellent
Response: Thank you Robert! We appreciate your business!

Crisanne Pyne: How about actually opening the door. It’s hard to shop in a store that’s locked up.
