Secondi Inc: what do users think?

Jasmin Hollywood: Maybe someone else's cup of tea or tequila or maybe too rich... LoL so I really tried to find something that I liked or wanted to buy that was used for $40&up but just couldn't. It was a cute little neat location and ALL their employees were really kind to me.
Response: Hello Jasmin, Thank you for visiting our shop and for your review! We're sorry we didn't have what you were looking for this time, but we welcome new items all day long--hopefully next time we will have the perfect thing for you! Have a lovely summer! Secondi

Sophie Jylan: My first time going to a consignment shop, and i had a great time! Everything was organized and there was a great selection of clothes and accessories. The shop was very cute, and i loved the feel of the small second story shop. Fitting rooms are open too. Prices are reasonable and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely be making this a regular stop in the future.
Response: Thank you for your review Sophie! We wish you a wonderful summer! Secondi

Angela: I love the set-up it's a cute spot, and I wasn't ready to walk up the stairs to get in to the boutique. It was organized, the staff was very informative, and I'm not from here so the prices where higher than where I'm from. Other than that it's a treasure it does have high-end Variety Appreall, And they are in good condition.
Response: Hello Angela, Thank you for your kind words, your review made our day! We hope you come back soon for another visit! Have a great summer, Secondi

V W: I’ve been a long time customer of this establishment. Sadly, I shall not return. I experienced suboptimal customer service in the earshot of management. When I approached management to remedy the situation, I was unapologetically told that the staff member’s words were justified, “It was in the hearing and not the saying.” I don’t need an interpreter. I hear you loud and clear. Preemptive accusations and dismissing my perspective as a customer are simply unacceptable.
Response: Hello VW, We're sorry to hear you didn't have an enjoyable experience at Secondi, but we thank you for your feedback. We acknowledge that while we try to offer excellent customer service at all times, there is always room for improvement and will work among the staff to make sure this doesn't happen again. We wish you a wonderful summer season, Secondi

Leslie Williston: this place was nice but more expensive than i thought. i am more the type for cheap thrift stores so this wasn’t my jam. it was clean and well organized.
Response: Hello Leslie, Thank you for your feedback! We do our best to make sure the shop is clean and organized so your kind words mean a lot to us. We are sorry to hear you didn't have success on your shopping quest with us, but we hope you come back soon! Have a great summer, Secondi

Pook Trinh: They do have nice items, some of them are reasonably priced. However, the service is not great in comparison to similar businesses in the area. They have a deal whenever you spent more than $500 in one transaction, you will get $25 coupon to use next visit within the next 3 months. I found out after I just spent about $440, any efficient employee/merchant would have suggested a customer to spend some more to get $25 coupon. If the customer said no, nothing to loose, but failing to do so, it’s a loose-loose situation. I left unhappy, they could have get me to buy some more today, and the next time I come back to use the $25 coupon I’d would spend more then, as well. I guess they don’t really care since they already have lots of business going on. Several years ago, the owner/manager with her old team were much more friendly, but the new team are ok, doing their job ok, no more no less.
Response: Hello Pook, Thank you for your feedback! We do our best to respond quickly to reviews, however Google didn't notify us of yours and so we apologize for the delay. I understand about the 500 Club Card, and we will do our best to make this more well-known to customers in the future. Our goal is to never push customers into spending more money, but I can see how us telling you about the 500 Club Card would have been welcome information. We hope you visit us again soon, and in the meantime have a wonderful summer! Secondi

Alyssa Cooper: This place is the single best thrift/consignment shop I’ve ever visited. They carry a variety of designer and high-quality pieces. Go early in the morning when the shop first opens for the best selection and service…it’s gets super busy on weekends and evenings.

Lori Penix: I stumbled on this store while traveling from Los Angeles. I absolutely LOVE this place. Great items at prices that work well for me. I will keep in touch. ❤️
Response: Thank you for your kind words. Your review made our day! We look forward to seeing you in the future. Thank you, Secondi

Maya Mosley: They sell a lot of broken clothing and accessories (completely broken that you cannot wear) for a “luxury consignment” store, and do not allow returns. Watch what you buy.
Response: Hello Maya, Thank you for your feedback. We do our best to make sure all items are in excellent condition before we put them out on the floor or mark them as-is if the wear or marks are very minor, but we acknowledge that we occasionally may miss damage when we first accept an item. If you notice an item that is not in its best condition, please feel free to bring it to our attention so we can pull it off our sales floor! Thank you, and have a great summer, Secondi

Andrea Za: I really checking out the latest fashions at this place. It's clean. For the most part the staff is friendly and attentive. A fun place to shop in DC.
Response: Thank you for your feedback Andrea, we're sorry we missed it until now! We hope you have a great summer, Secondi

Christ Child Opportunity Shop: what do users think?

Kurt LaRose MSW LCSW LICSW: The antiques and the finds here are wonderful. The staff, volunteers, care so much about the items. Here I am reminded of my grandparents dishes, jewelry, paintings, dishes, silver, metalurgy, pocket watches, rugs .... and the iron statutes are just phenomenal. Today I found a 10k gold rosary engraved from 1924 ... with a historical attention to detail that is awesome. The people working in the store celebrate the items as you look.
Response: Thank you Kurt! We're so glad we were able to help you find some beautiful items!

rebecca leigh: A lovely store with beautiful things. Sometimes a bit pricey. The service is excellent and warm.

Sandra Biedron: Wow. Great place for vintage jewelry and everything else one needs for a home or office. Not only is everything repurposed but all proceeds go to children in the area that need help meeting their emotional needs. Found four rare Portmeirion pottery pieces as well as two pieces of vintage high-end jewelry. These were very fairly priced with the market. Excellent collection of dishes, silver, and crystal. Go there instead of doing a wedding registry! So much more green! Rock on Opportunity Shop - you made my heart happy today seeing things re-purposed! The place was packed!

Eric Rajendra: The best antique and bric-a-brac store in all of DC. Our family in Georgetown has given thousands of dollars worth in contributions of our own antiques we no longer needed and then we bought thousands of dollars more in antiques we needed!! This place is a gem for us Washingtonians!! The volunteer staff members are truly precious and really dedicated!! They love their work and make the entire experience of browsing a joy. The second floor has great stuff so GO UP!! Jewelry, silverware, Asian antiques, porcelain, etc! You won’t be disappointed. You need to return weekly as new consignments and donations come all the time!! Trust me.
Response: Thank you so much, Eric!

Sam Bartley: This place looks amazing. And everything is very nice. But this place is no thrift store. Almost everything here is consignment and the prices can be outrageous. If you're looking for a place to get fine decor and fine bone china (and you're willing to pay hundreds of dollars for it) this is the place. But if you're a student or a person that has anything called a budget restricting you, don't come here.
Response: Thank you for the feedback, Sam. We now host flash sales on Mondays on our Facebook and Instagram. 20% off select items from a range of different prices. You might find some treasures on there!

Randolph Lopez: Question the authenticity of the antiques and antiquities. Do not be misled. I was foolish enough to believe the descriptions that were displayed on the Asian pieces and the purity of some silver pieces that I purchased. I am not a seasoned collector. I only depend on the honesty of people; especially those associated with a “Christian” charity.

Tom Preston: Prices are too high, often higher than the antiques shops in the neighborhood. No bargains unfortunately. And reductions are not per standard consignment shops- only 20% every 60 days instead of every 30 days. Not sure how they stay in business TBH.
Response: Thanks for the feedback, Tom. We host flash sales on our Instagram and Facebook every Monday with 20% off select items. You may find some bargains there!

A. Greenough Dodd: Huge fan of this nonprofit consignment shop (aka The "Op Shop"!) that benefits the needs of DC area children. Always great finds, but definitely allow time to peruse the many items. Well-worth the search!
Response: Thanks for the kind words! We now have a Facebook and Instagram page where we highlight and feature different items. That may help you find some treasures! And yes we love our customers and their support of our mission of helping local mothers and babies in need!

Angela Van: Clean and organized decor consignment purchase structure (can see how the price drops by date). Always find something when I go in. Unfortunately, they just re-organized downstairs so the bulk is upstairs--no elevator.

Jonathan Fuhrman: Nice place for antiques. Everything has a date it came in and gets marked down every month. Prices are a bit high, but not outrageous.

Remix Recycling Co.: what do users think?

Henrry Palacios: Visited this store for the first time today and had a great experience! Staff is very friendly and the option of clothes was great. I was able to purchase two pants at a reasonable price and both were in great condition!

Maddie A.: Do NOT come here if you are looking for a large inventory or are in search of places to thrift. There are several other stores (such as REDDz) within a mile with much larger inventory and friendlier staff. When I tried to ask the owner (presumably) a genuine question about sales policies in the store, he answered my question in a manner so flip that it suggested I had asked him the most obvious thing ever. Additionally, this is not the place to be if you are looking for cleanliness. The store has a roaming cat and my mother had to step out after a couple minutes due to a reaction; there are other obvious signs of pet filth about. TLDR: this place is not worth your time no matter who you are.

Sherri LaRowe: Neat shop. Support a long-time local biz like this and score inexpensive deals that your closet will love. Its hard not to leave without something each time I visit. Just got a brand new Lilly Pulitzer dress (original tags still on it read $188) for $42. And a brand new Ann Taylor light pink work and fun appropriate skirt for $12 (still had original tags too!).

Sarah Kramer: Although it’s a small store, they always have a great selection of both gently-used and new apparel and fabulous inexpensive jewelry. Today I found five spring dresses, an unworn pair of heels, and new earrings for an unbeatable price. This place is leagues above Poshmark and online consignment stores.

Nick Eddy: Been going to remix about once a month since well before the move to the current location. I've bought men's office, casual, and athletic wear over the years. The owner buys only quality items, has good taste, and charges very reasonable prices. A Bethesda gem.

Sharon: Went last week, it’s a small place but I feel that the selection is pretty good, especially for cute crops and jeans (compared to platos). I got some nike leggings for $8. I couldn’t find too much in my size (pants I’m about a 10-12 and I’m on the larger side). The people working were nice and checked up on us! Overall would recommend if you’re looking to find some thrifted pieces. (You apparently can sell your items here)

Amanda S: I’ve never had a pleasant experience at this store in the few times I’ve been over the course of 5 years. Racist, and unkind owner.

Jordana Coronel: I had an appointment today at 5pm and I was rudely stopped by a sign that was written on a backwards envelope stating that they had an emergency. Unfortunately they had TWO missed UPS notices since yesterday on their door! So not only did the store not notify me of this emergency today but has had TWO days to notify and cancel appointments for this "EMERGENCY" lasting two days. This was the worst first impression I have ever had. Please have the courtesy to tell your customers that you will be CLOSED till further notice. I would have saved on GAS and TIME.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our business. A medical emergency prevented us from being open for a period of several days. I didn't have anyone who could run the store in my absence so I had to close for several days. I would have done things differently if I had the personnel to run the shop in my absence. Sincerely, Derek Kennedy

ks ks: Seem that the quality and service (new owners?) has changed. Much better at previous location. The guy was very rude about not wanting the items (didn’t even look at labels) which were 100% better than the offerings at the store - unappealing and very disorganized. Needs an upgrade and better service.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our store. Sincerely, Derek Kennedy

Izzy Gieser: Remix has a incredible selection of designer brands at a really affordable price. My friend bought two pairs of leggings for $22. The people are super friendly and there’s even a store cat named Sushi. I am thoroughly satisfied with my experience shopping here and would definitely come here again in the future.

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store: what do users think?

Reanna Rousseau: I have to say very disrespectful management at this location. The staff was lovely and helpful but the short light skin women manager with the face piercings, with her mask underneath her nose gave me the worst experience I have ever had at goodwill. Her regional needs to have her replaced ASAP. You can’t make your own rules at your store that’s not in policy. You can get fired for things like that and she must be reported. This is a store where they take free items and mark them up for “Goodwill” to sell to the people in the community who can’t afford the regular priced items. If you are over pricing the item you are basically doing a disservice to the community.

Lea Sumlin: On. April 30. A beautiful morning. I decided to donate things, I don't need. My family and I went to the South Dakota location. When we got there, a light skin colored girl with glasses as the manager was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL We did not get a Good Morning. She WAS VERY UNPLEASANT with her Approach. "We're not open yet, did you hear me and we line up over here. I never opened my mouth but after her unprofessional way of speaking. I ask, " do you WORK here. "Am the manager". She is NOT MANAGER PROFESSIONAL. We left. I Googled Salvation Army on Kenilworth Ave. They were open and VERY PROFESSIONAL AS WELL. THANKS SALVATION ARMY. We were very happy when we got there and after we left.💯❤️❤️❤️.

Zh Ie: Purchased online from this location. The staff was amazing on checking the condition of the item after purchase, and as an added service on their end, they sent a few extra close-ups even after I had purchased, which was not necessary, but so appreciated that they thought to do that. Above and beyond service, and extremely customer-service oriented.

Andrew Patricio: Bizarre. Don't bother going here to donate anything except kitchen stuff or toys, (except baby toys they won't take). On the website it says they take clothes, furniture, etc and they used to but no longer for some reason. Any even toys they won't take anything "a baby can sit in". Ie no bounce toys, push bike etc. Wasted my time twice in a row. Never again. Just go down the road to salvation army or even better, the value village thrift store.

Kim Barr: I found some lovely things there the staff was very helpful and definitely check out the colors of the week sales. I was able to get a 15.99 suit for 3.99 because of the colors of the week sale.

Team World: Caĺled them numerous times over several weeks for pick up of lots of veey good clothes and furniture. I am leaving the country. They never called back.- couldnt be bothered apparently. SHAME on you, Goodwilll, aren't you supposed to serve the disenfranchised????

Janice Burrell: Called and asked if they accept books. The guy told me they did. When I got there the guy told me they were at their capacity for books. It was more like he didn't want to do the work to check them in. Every time I go there it is always a problem. They should tell you these things when you call. Since they don't I can only conclude that it's just a lazy employee. Extremely poor customer service.

solomon asefaw: I am writing this review to let Goodwill undermines its gools when it doesn't follow up its workers at the receiving and dropping gate of this location. Today at around 3:35pm when I came to donate, I was harassed by one Of the stuff at the gate. Goodwill should place professional stuff at the dropp of gate before it too late.

Franklin Owens III: I was there for clothing… but I can never pick out clothing in a thrift store, so I left with books. The store was well organized though. I tend to be a bit uncomfortable buying items out of thrift stores. I didn’t care much for the clothes. But there were other items in the home section were really nice. Everyone was nice in the thrift store. Even when I gathered a cart full of books and then realized I couldn’t use my clothing voucher on books😬😅

bluslushii: Been to multiple Goodwills, the staff was by far the most helpful and I honestly received the best customer service I did at any business. Definitely will be returning! Thank you so much ladies for being so kind and helpful!

Fia's Fabulous Finds: what do users think?

Anna Sumner: My friend found this place in the DCist's Top Thift Stores article. Unfortunately the article was from 2016 so many of the places listed were no more. Fia's was one one of the few exceptions. We pulled up around 3 in the afternoon unaware that the store had switched over to appointment only for in-person shopping. The lady working at the time kindly let us in since there was an hour until the next appointment. Their inventory was fantastic, if a little disorganized. The layout has been converted more to a warehouse than a sales floor. The store is also transitioning into online sales. As things turned out the kind lady who let us in to shop was the owner herself. She explained the appointment-only policy and told us we could text the store number to make future appointments. It felt good to have been able to support a local, black woman-owned shop, especially after going through the list of stores that weren't able to stay open. On the inventory: I found a lot of good pieces in my size which made me very happy. I'm on the curvier side and I'd definitely recommend this place for plus sized fashionistas. I saw very few items for men and children so you might not want to do family shopping here.

carolyn jackson: I love this boutique. Fia the owner is very nice and sweet. I love her basement grab bag. It a lot of fun. It like playing a game.😁😊

Edward Parsons: My wife and I had a chance to visit FFF and was surprised to find that the store has a $35 full a bag sale next week. The clothes are in good condition and reasonably priced.

Julia Near and Far: Fia's Fabulous Finds had a great selection of cute dresses and footwear. In the basement was $25 for everything you could fit into a bag.

Alex Chapman: I had a lovely visit at Fia's Fabulous Finds today. You have to book a private appointment now to shop and Fia was there herself to describe each room of the store for me. It's a warehouse setup, so you get to move and dive into the racks yourself to find amazing deals. Lots of Kate Spade purses and clothes, with some other brands mixed in. A wide range of sizes too, which is great! 3.3.21: Fia is no longer allowing in-store shopping outside of a once per month opportunity. Check the Facebook page for future updates.

Cassia Morris: My boyfriend and I stopped in Fia’s 2.5 years ago or so to find some items for a costume. I can’t remember the owners name, but she was THE sweetest, nicest, and most helpful!!! We talked about where her son was going to school. We live in Alaska and I still think about our visit here. I hope the owner is well and the shop is doing good!!! Much love.

Eugene Simms: Fia's Fabulous Finds is a phenomenal experience waiting to be discovered! I walked in on a Sunday, and was warmly greeted by associate, Sharon. She told me, to my amazement that Fia's offers sizes 0-3x, a rarity for a consignment shop. They have such great quality clothing, shoes, bags and accessories and at affordable prices. I purchased a silk Escada skirt for $25!! Also, check out their Bargain Basement for some unbelievable deals. A beautiful experience from start to finish.

Clark Flynt-Barr: This place is packed! Lots of good finds - always fun to shop here.

Madeline Desser: This place is such a gem with a great selection of higher end brands. The space is fairly small, but it manages to feel full without feeling overly crowded or messy. There is a separate rack dedicated to plus size clothing which is amazing and rare to find in high end consignment shops. Fia has a great eye for stylish pieces and is super friendly too so don't be shy and check the place out if you want to find some great deals!

Symea Johnson: Stopped by for the “fill a bag for $25” event. I had to control myself because I could of stayed all day and shifted thru all the bins and racks for clothing. Fia was actually present and her and the staff are genuinely good people All positive vibes in the air! Check her out you will not be disappointed 13items including dresses, skirts, purses and jacket all rolled in one bag for $25🎉

Second Story Books: what do users think?

Jereth Tolentino: You can definitely get stuck inside this place for hours if you’re in to rare books. The staff is great and very helpful. Love the location and the building. I will definitely be coming back every time im in the area.

James Bacon: Excellent used bookstore. They know their books and have sections for modern 1st editions as well as ample SF, Lit and of course history and politics. Really enjoyed the browse. Some lovely finds.

Alejandro Nuñez-Jimenez: Great second hand bookshop. They have a very large selection of titles, covering a wide range of topics. Very well organized shelves that make it easy to find what you're looking for. If you still don't, just ask the staff, they were very helpful. I particularly enjoyed the considerable amount of science and economics books, which had some titles outside of the usual suspects. 4/5 stars because the pricing is a bit higher from other physical and online stores.

Angelica Oung: This bookstore had a superb collection of both books you been meaning to read, waiting for you to discover, and are just curious to flip through. The perfect selection of old and newer, with a few antique titles to give it that authentic ambiance. It has the perfect use bookstore smell. Prices are reasonable. Please treasure this place and keep it alive for many years to come.

Eddies: I've been here many times over the years and have yet to come across staff that did not act smug when approached. Last time will be the end of my relationship. I entered under the assumption that since the mask mandate was lifted long ago this establishment was following the path of most other establishments and not mandating masks. As I was browsing around I approached a staff member and began asking her a question (from a distance of about 10 feet mind you). She interrupted me mid-sentence and said "do you have a mask" in a stern tone. I said, oh I didn't realize I needed one. She pointed to some masks near the door. As I was placing the mask on I noticed that she and a male who had been working on a computer had stopped what they were doing and were glaring at me as if I had just committed an atrocity or was an alien from outer space. Between that reaction and her tone in interrupting me (without so much as an apology or simple "excuse me") turned me off. I left and won't be back. The issue here isn't the mask policy it's the pattern of encountering smug employees. I don't "need" to do business here, especially with a store that acts like they are doing me a favor by allowing me in. Plenty of other options out there. I very much like to support local independent business but respect and appreciation go both ways.

Gabriel Nicolosi: Books are overpriced. They also sell extremely overpriced prints as if they were actually art pieces. I frequently buy old and vintage prints online and in auctions and I can tell you those prices are to fool the regular consumer. Also, they like old stuff so much that they still require masks inside the store. I just went inside because my wife wanted a book. Convinced her to leave after 2 minutes and bought the book online. Done with the face diaper.

Gica Mangahas: Great collection of secondhand books. Nice sociology/social concerns and US domestic politics sections. Decent world affairs and regional studies sections, though for more niche topics you'd be better off visiting the giant Rockville location.

JXG JXG: A fairly good selection of books but TERRIBLE customer service, downright rude most of the time. A customer will ask for a book and there will be three or four employees behind the counter but only on rare occasions will anyone actually assist the customer find what they're looking for. And their banter is overwrought sophomoric drivel, and they never shut up!

Amanda Blake: Very cool place! They have some impressive first editions and original or signed works, ranging from books to maps to posters. They also have standard used books, although they seem to lean toward vintage. It's a great place to duck into and look around. They have arrows and mask requirements right now for covid.

HorrorJunky 4 Life: I love the selection of new & used books that are sold here. The isles are a little narrow which makes for a tight squeeze when trying to pass other customers. They also have a nice selection of DVDs. The books being sold on the the sidewalk are a great deal at 4 for $20. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Mint Condition: what do users think?

Sophie Delquie: Buyer beware. I bought a dress from here for an event as an option - I asked for a receipt in case I didn’t wear it and needed to return and she said the printing machine was broken but would be on my account. I didn’t wear the dress and I came to return and was notified they don’t even accept returns. Only 50% consignment commission if they resell it. I feel totally defrauded. I offered to exchange it for a different dress half the price and just let me walk away with something I’m actually going to wear. They refused. Their handling of the situation is extremely disappointing. Won’t shop there again because of it.

Dina Yazdani: I walked in - the staff looked at me, didn’t greet me or acknowledge me the whole time I was there. But when a white woman walked in they greeted her warmly, asked what she was looking for, if they could help, etc. I immediately left. Clearly a racist establishment - typical Alexandria.

Crystal Jordan: I can’t believe that I traveled three hours to check out this place and no one greeted me upon my arrival, never asked if I needed assistance. They continued their own conversations as I walked around. I waited a bit and then I had speak to them. I had planned to purchase a few designer items but after being treated as if I wasn’t good enough to shop there, I decided to leave. People prejudge by the color of skin and what they may have on, but fail to recognize that there are people who work hard and will spend money on things they like and can actually afford to do so if treated with respect. My husband knew something was wrong when I came back with no purchases after telling him how excited I was to go see this “supposedly treasured gem”. 😏😏

Kerry Corley: Very fun!! They have such a great selection of fashions. They are pretty reasonable on their merchandise and their sale room upstairs rocks. Try it out. Make sure to put plenty of money in the meter outside because you have so much fun in there you lose track of time and you dont want to get a ticket after all that excitement.

Anne Schumann: I used to love this place, but I don't think I'll be back. The selection is pretty well curated and the clothes in good condition, but the prices aren't always a bargain. The sales associates in the past have sometimes been less than attentive (not offering to take clothes to a dressing room until your arms are overflowing), but tolerable. However, on my last trip a woman who seemed like either the owner or manager was downright rude. I had placed my shopping bag and purse on the floor to look at something and she kicked them out of her way as she moved around the shop. It was clearly not an accidental stumble, she looked down at my things and shoved them aside with her foot. When she saw my surprised look, she offered no apology. Then she proceeded to push past my sister and I twice so she could restock the area in which we were browsing. She made comments each time to indicate that we were in her way. Then we we were upstairs she made a comment about the length of time we'd been in the store. We were not being loud, nor treating the merchandise badly. After my experience, I'll no longer be recommending Mint.

Megan Jaffer: I used to love this place and would always recommend those visiting Alexandria to stop by. I took 2 of my closest friends from out of town this past weekend and my experience was very unfortunate. I am not sure if it was the owner or if it was a manager on duty however, I, a 40 year old woman and business exec, was told to make sure to be careful with my drink around the expensive merchandise. My friend asked to view one of the more expensive items that was locked up, the woman told us to hold on, as it was clear she didn't think we could afford it, and she took her time continuing to fold clothes. It wasn't until it was clear that my friend planned on purchasing the $900 item did the woman's attitude change. We did end up purchasing the item because it was a good deal however I do not plan on shopping there anymore.

Stephanie Mansfield: I have visited this store on several occasions. While I find the staff fairly nice and the store chic. The clothing seems to cater to small sizes. As a curvy woman who wears a 10. I have difficulty finding anything in my size. Meanwhile, my BFF who is a size 2, has a variety to choose from. There is a large designer bag selection, which requires everyone to have a large size wallet.

Anna Tompkins: Wonderful first time experience ordering from this shop! The Longchamp purse I bought truly was in “mint condition“! Shipping was quick! So glad to have this gem and will definitely be back!
Response: Thanks Anna! Enjoy your new bag and we hope to see you again! 💚

Carrie Wright: I am obsessed with this store, no joke. The ladies who work there are friendly, helpful, and truly know their stuff. They also don't mind just letting you browse and aren't constantly up in your business, which is super relaxing. It's obvious that the items that come in are carefully looked over for quality. One of the best consignment shops I've ever been in.

Alyson Foster: Katie and Megan really prove they care about their store, their selection and their clients! I have consigned multiple pieces here and it was by no means Louis Vuitton or Chanel (although you can get AMAZING pieces like that here). Their consignment is fair and there are so many amazing finds like Golden Goose and Lululemon - follow them on IG and act fast! Items do not stay for long.
Response: Thank you so much, Alyson! ❤️

Uptown Cheapskate: what do users think?

Crystal Miller: I’m going to start this review by saying this entire company is racist. No person of color especially a black person should sell their things to this company. I brought in several items that had tags on them and because they didn’t fit the stereotype of the white area that it’s in they chose to say that my clothes wouldn’t sell. I know that that is a lie because I have seen plenty of college girls in that area wearing the exact same clothing. Same time in the store I found a black woman who wanted my new leather Zara dress that was originally $70 it was never worn. I ended up selling the dress to her in this store that claimed they did not have the clientele to take my items. What I got from the store was that the ownership is racist. They only want things that cater to white people even though they are in an ethnic area such as College Park. I have found plenty of black women in this specific area who would love the clothes that I brought in but it didn’t fit the white standard in the store so it wasn’t taken. I cannot speak for the manager because she tried to run away from the situation. However the people that do work there the staff they are friendly they are lovely however I will never recommend any person of color to go to the store to bring your clothes because it’s not white enough. On top of that they took two items who were in worse condition than the rest of the clothes that were in great condition because it fit the white aesthetic in the area.
Response: Hi Crystal. Uptown Cheapskate College Park is black-owned and -operated. The majority of folks who buy from and sell to us as well as most of our employees are people of color. The company is not racist just because we were not interested in purchasing your items.

Ricky Gomez: I will start this review by saying that the workers are super friendly and nice , the reason i am giving this place a 1 start reviews because I brought in a pair of slightly used Jordan’s with the box (both with the same Serial number ) and everything to get them appraised and sold . Well I come to find out that I had to wait TWO WHOLE HOURS for them to examine the pair of shoes . They give me a call to come back into the store just to tell me they couldn’t “ authenticate “ the shoes and basically told me I brought in fake Jordan’s . They’re reason for saying this is because “ they don’t have the factory smell (obviously because they WORN Jordan’s ) and because the jump man logo had a little bit of glue that was visible (obviously from the manufacture process). It’s ridiculous to me that a store that buys and sell streetwear products can’t tell the difference between an original shoe vs a knockoff . Retros Jordan that release now a days aren’t made like they were 10+ years ago . The quality and materials they use aren’t definitely not what they used to be , now with that being said regardless of the quality its not hard to tell a real Jordan Vs a fake and mines weren’t perfect but they were in great condition with no sighs of knockout to a trained eye . So I took my business elsewhere and just shipped them to goat and check this out guys , they authenticated the pair in less then 24 hours of me shipping out the pair of shoes . Complete waste of time .
Response: Hi Ricky. Thanks for taking the time to review. Glad you were able to sell your Jordans. Out of an abundance of caution we often have to turn away items. The process is always smoother if the customer is able to provide proof of purchase or other material to guarantee authenticity.

Xiaojing Mao: I’m not sure if it was because I came by on Friday afternoon and no one wanted to work, I was not only illy treated but also asked to bring back all the stuff they don’t buy, even after I selected the “donate to charity” option in their system. There’s also no recycle bin nearby, I have to walk one block away to drop off the rest of my stuff. Considering the extremely low price offer they gave on the items they wanted to buy, it’s really not worth the effort paying this visit. I recommend donating your clothes directly.
Response: Hello Xiaojing. Thanks for taking the time to review. We try to give everyone a great experience. Unfortunately the automated checking system does not reflect the fact that we have not been taking donations since the pandemic began. All customers at drop off are informed that they are required to take back any items we are unable to purchase. We are not responsible for the whereabouts of local recycling bins but are glad you found an option. If you would like to provide more information about your experience please call 240-553-7271 and ask for Liz. Your feedback can help us improve our customer service.

Mindalay Bay: Very friendly staff & impressive mens collection. However, I value my time and don’t appreciate waiting almost 2 hours to be told they wouldn’t take any of my items (considering I arrived 10 minutes after they opened, had 1 person ahead of me, and was told it would only take an hour). Before I made this trip I made sure to include things they were interested in according to their Facebook posts. I was told they’d take a few things but it wasn’t worth it. Pretty sure something is worth more than nothing. Anyway, I don’t plan on coming back to this location since it was a hike for me and a complete waste of my time. Not looking for an apology or a response with an excuse.

Veronica: I am giving a one star due to the obvious following an employee with green hair was doing. She followed me and my younger sisters various times and just wandering around wherever we were when she was doing absolutely nothing or pretending to do “work”. We come to buy clothes in PEACE not to be harassed for our race or have someone think we’re thieves. She wandered around us a lot but not the white couple that was in there as well, how funny. Shame on that employee and whoever may have told her to do that. Next time she’s gonna get called out for that. Besides that, I would’ve given the store 5 stars because they have great clothes and it’s very clean. The cashier Samuel was so sweet and funny, maybe she could learn a thing or two from him.
Response: Hi Veronica. Thanks for taking the time to review and bringing your experience to our attention. I am sure no profiling took place and our employee was trying to do their job as best they could. If an employee is ever making you uncomfortable please bring it to a managers attention to address. Sam is fantastic. I will pass on your kind words to him.

Teetee Foster: I called up there 3 times to confirm that they accept DESIGNER SHOES . I asked them do y’all accept all designer shoes they answer was “YES “ . So when I drove 30 mins away from home to try sell my shoes they told me my shoes was over budget meaning they couldn’t accept them . If you know designer shoes gonna be HIGH , why say y’all accept all designer shoes ? . DONT WASTE YOUR TIME .
Response: Thanks for taking the time to review. We do take designer shoes for every budget. We currently have Prada, Raf Simons, Balenciaga, Manolos, etc but we can not guarantee purchase until we have seen items in person. Style, condition, demand and season are some of the factors besides brand that help us determine whether to make a purchase. Hope you are able to find a buyer for your shoes.

Felt God: they be spamming they took 6 items for 16 dollars and 3 items for 6 dollars they selling for 8.99 one of my items for more they offered me. this the type of store you go to turn your clothes in to get better clothes with store credit NOT to sell your clothes here. maybe the more clothes you have the more you will make. they do have the drip in there for decent prices tho actual designer. anything they take they should sell for at least 5 dollars an item thanks for attending my ted talk
Response: Hello. Thanks for taking the time to review and Ted talk. When you choose store credit you will receive 25% more than our cash offer. When you sell you will receive only a percentage of the price the item is marked - generally somewhere between 24 - 50% depending on style, demand, etc. You are always welcome to decline our offer if you are not satisfied. We do have a great selection at fantastic prices.

Joshua Newman: Hello, I can’t help to notice a handful of bad reviews. I must say my experience has been different. Everyone is kind, down to earth and super welcoming. The clothing is all quality brands and in good condition. It takes them up to 40 minutes to look through the clothes people want to sell them so they can assure quality. This is not an antique store nor your traditional thrift store. I definitely recommend checking it out.
Response: Hi Joshua. Thanks for taking the time to review. We are trying really hard during very trying times so it’s wonderful to receive some positive acknowledgment of our efforts. Hope to see you again soon.

Duncan: good cloths, good shoes, all very clean, got called "boss" a lot :D
Response: Hey Duncan. Thanks for taking the time to review. We try to make sure everyone has a good shopping or vending experience!

Andrea Angel: I take care of my shoes but some how aren’t In good conditions. They look the same as I bought them. Lastly, If you do sell they try to give you the lowest. Look around and you’ll see the conditions of their clothing honestly better off selling on offer up. I clearly went to both if I put down a review. Thanks for having time to verify though. Maybe better service and attitude will leave you better reviews.
Response: Hi Andrea. Can’t help but notice this is the exact same post you left on Plato’s site. We encourage you to exhaust all your resale options.

Capitol Hill Books: what do users think?

Da-Wang Wu: This little bookstore was definitely a hidden gem. Walking in it feels like a treasure hunt that you don’t know what you are going to find. I enjoyed visiting it! However, I was a bit surprised that the book I bought here was like 2x price than online bookstore… Also, the staff was definitely not in a good mood that day, making some conversations a bit awkward. Overall, I’m fully supportive to independent bookstores and might consider recommending it to others.

ghe rahadi: Glad I found this place! Quite organize, sorted by the book genre so you can easily find your desired literature. The counter lady is nice and friendly..

Brian Hagan: Such a cool used bookstore in DC! Staff was super friendly. Space is cozy so be prepared to squeeze between rows of books. They have 3 floors of books which includes the upstairs and basement. Loved checking this place out!

Hans-Martin Ishida: Best bookstore in the city. Amazingly wild and eclectic collection of used books plus a good variety of new releases. Many of the new releases are also relevant and topical to the social justice issues in the US and DC today.

Monique Johnson: I really enjoyed browsing here some warm days after work on my way home. It’s that kind of place. You go when you’re looking and when you’re not. They will always have some thing you might like. I’d recommend

John O'Connor: Capitol Hill Books has to be one of the best DC gems. Their social media is wicked smart, and their store is a staple of the neighborhood. For anyone who calls DC home, this place is a must.

Joseph S.: Great selection of books and the man who runs/owns it is pretty cool. Store is setup in a really unique way as well.

Sarah McBurney: Enjoyed looking at the great variety of used and new books. Was a small and intimate location. The upstairs fiction section was great and well organized. Wish I could have spent more time there.

Joseph Kerski: I love this store. I wish I could live there ! Thank you all. Even geography books in the basement !

Bruce Lowther: interesting hole in the wall book store. great book summaries in inserted in some of the books. lots of interesting titles. prices are a bit high but that’s very likely due to the location.

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store: what do users think?

Noor Ayoob: Great run with the family today to Goodwell there was so many stuff to buy good used equipment. Clean store parking was available on site great customer service . Keep up the great work.

Sandra Penoyar: Beautiful setting. Good food and drinks! Can't wait to go again

Natalie Forbes: I love thrifting at places like this because of the great finds you can get for low prices. That being said.... I've never been to a goodwill where things were high priced like this.... sneakers for 40$, jeans for 15$, select items in the 15-30$ price range. Also not a good selection of items at this store. Really turned me off...

Sharon: Went yesterday around 2pm The store itself is smaller than the goodwills ive been in before, but also more organized! I think their best section is the long sleeve shirts for women, I think they have some real gems in there! Workers are nice and it was an easy checkout. Would recommend if you need a blouse or just want to browse!

Robert Garrett: The Falls Church store is messy. The shelves are badly disorganized. The prices of many items are ridiculously high compared to the Annandale and Fairfax City stores. The staff were surly and sometimes rude. I won't be back.

T: A medium-sized store with a pretty decent selection on used pieces. I came out with two really nice dresses both brand new with the tags still on them and a skirt that still have the tags on it so it was new as well I also found a nice straw beach bag for the summer. The staff was very kind and helpful and the store was very clean I will definitely get back here 😊 Sorry guys I forgot to take pics this time!

Elmer And Liz Gonzalez: Two stars is just right, goodwill has become so overpriced that at today date I rather buy new instead, pair of shoes for $40 already used? No way, those used stuffs are donations, so should be priced accordingly not even higher than new. Check for yourself.

BEN watson: Fantastic service, nice stuff and great prices. Got a like new backpack for $9

Benjamin Medina: Don't waste your time with this store! They are over priced in all their items, and have some AWEFUL customer service issues! I grabbed a shirt from the same rack, go to to checkout and they tell me two different prices. I attempt to understand why two similiar shirts are marked differently, so the cashier, in spite, just charged me the higher price! Secondly, I was interested in a item, but it was in a bad shape for $200, again I was treated with bad service.

Marco Montoya: This a donation drop-off review: In a nutshell, one of the easiest and simplest donation drop-offs I have ever done. I drove up to the rear of the store where there was a woman handling the donations outside. All I had to do was wait in a car line of one, which took about 2 minutes, then drove up. She helped me unload my items from my trunk, and handed me a receipt when we were done. Start to finish: about 7 minutes tops. I will definitely donate here again. (I had initially tried donating to a women's shelter as I have done in other states I have lived, but apparently here in NoVa it is not as simple as all that; they were the ones that told me to just donate to the Goodwill. Done, and done.
