Safeway: what do users think?

Kevin W: Absolutely Horrible grocery pickup customer service ive ever encountered. On Friday, 04/22/2022 I came to pick up an order for pick up. I called the number 7 times and there was no answer. After waiting over 20 mins I then walked in the store and spoke to someone at customer service and told them about the issue at hand then someone was able to come and fulfill the order. Upon receiving the order in my trunk, I then checked for the accuracy of the order. Upon confirming everything that was ordered I noticed the watermelon that I ordered was turned over in my trunk. I took that watermelon inside and had to get it switched out. As of today, 04/24/2022 I ran into another issue with my pickup order that was placed earlier today. I drove up to pick up number parking slot number 1. I called the number and then once again there was no answer. I then call my wife and asked her to give the store a call and let them know that I have arrived and what pick up spot I am in. Upon my wife calling at 6:03 pm she was told by a young lady that they do not drop off in the pick up spot and that I needed to go to the loading dock and walk up the dock to receive my groceries that I ordered. This is piss poor customer service and I hope Safeway makes the necessary changes moving forward to work better with their grocery pack up customers.
Response: Your feedback really matters to us, Kevin. Please chat with us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page with your ph#. order# and name on the order, so we can further assist you. We look forward to hearing from you.

Stuart Miles-McLean: The store is a lot bigger than it appears from the outside. It's really all on the 2nd floor -- has an elevator, escalator, and stairs to get up there from the Wisconsin Avenue street entrance. It's huge inside -- has an in-store Starbucks, a place for people to sit down and eat at tables.

Greg n Marc: Store overall is fine, it's a grocery store. Typically well stocked and find what we need. However, the checkout staff could benefit from some customer service and how to be friendly and welcoming classes.

Margo Vandenbroucke: Always make sure to check expiration dates here! These wraps were bought yesterday (6/5) but expired 5/18. Not the first time either, they just throw the new items on top :) Be especially careful in the bakery section with bread etc., sometimes there’s mold.
Response: Your feedback really matters to us, Margo. Please chat with us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page with your ph# if you would like to be contacted. You may return the wraps to the store, just take your receipt. You may return or exchange. We do apologize for the inconvenience and the quality of the wraps. We look forward to hearing from you.

David Curtis: Not 24hrs. I had to work late & get groceries otw home. Doors are open, people stocking, so I shop & then get told at the register that they stop running 1am-1:45am to count money. I have to wait 25 minutes to check out. Clerk told me I could shop some more. I should have gone to Giant in Bethesda. Have half a mind to just ditch the cart and go.
Response: Hi there David. We are sad to hear that we missed the mark on your recent visit. We will share this with the Store Director for review! Please chat with us on our site or reach out to us through our CONTACT US page so we can learn more about your experience. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Bradford Smith: They close all registers in the middle of the night without telling anyone. Store staff watched me shop for half an hour until I couldn’t check out and was told I’d have to wait 45 mins. If this happens every night- put it on the web - on the door frame - close the store - tell the customers - do anything - what a negligent waste of time. Response to the response from owner: Please give me the exact web address and person I should talk to. Largely asking me to look up your national company and talk to a PR rep is both a waste of my time and a lack of locally caring about this issue. Please provide the local manager contact info - it's on you as an owner to follow up with this, asking me to do so is irresponsive and uncaring. Per your response: "chat with us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page" Are you kidding??? You clearly don't care about this.
Response: This is concerning to hear and we'd like to learn more about your experience. At your earliest convenience, please feel free to chat with us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page, so we can further assist you. Thank you!

Carlos John Camacho: Standard grocery store. I wish they had a larger asian and latino section like some of the other grocery stores around dc, but i guess that comes with the location. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Alan Walmsley: I've done a lot of shopping at the Georgetown Safeway and have got good produce at competitive prices. The aisles are well laid out and features a whole row of imported goods. No Vegemite though. The fresh produce can get a bit scarce by evening on some days, especially weekends. Staff are always friendly and cheerful; this is most appreciated. Excellent cheeses and lovely candles. There's a wine and beer (including cold) section with good choice. Youngsters have to show ID but oldies like me get offers of help to carry stuff: that's the difference 😑

James Douglass: The "Social Safeway", as it is still a place to commonly run into people you will know while shopping. It it underwent a major renovation years ago, moving the parking underneath and adding additional space for storage and shops. The selection is terrific, and they have an additional deli and wine section with plenty of options. As the parking is right next to the intersection across from Hardy school, getting in and out of the location isn't bad.

Praiseson Moses: Open 24 hrs...So convenient for buying birthday cakes at the last moment😄...

Safeway: what do users think?

Elena Christinne: Affordable prices. Lots of options on the deli section. For a visitor is a great location to grab and go some breakfast or lunch.

Dave Schubert: Nice upscale store. Nicer than their other stores. Be sure parking stub gets validated correctly if you are in the basement garage. Scanner issues for me ... I had to go back to avoid $15 requested at the gate.

Khalil Abrams: The second lady at the deli was getting so agitated by me questioning that the .25 lb of grilled vegetables was not equal to the 2lb label other lady put on my container. Weird right? Then she tried to justify it by looking at the unit price of 1.77 per lb and stating that’s how much it weighs. Mind you there is only a quarter pound of vegetables in the container. Again, it just goes to how people can be untrained and be on the verge of a mental breakdown instead of listening to a customer. I called the store beforehand and got a dial tone the first go round and the second time around, I explained to customer service person that the situation and she takes my container over to the deli and I guess she was confused as to what the issue because the label on the small container clearly shows 2 lbs. Thus, the deli person becomes startled and wanted to basically yell at me for coming to them with a correctable issue. Food bar looked dilapidated with chicken fingers looking that sat for over 5+ hours. The best part is I overhead them say that two other deli employees called out that day. I wonder why?
Response: We appreciate your feedback, please accept our apologies for the unsatisfactory customer service you received. Your concerns have been directed to our Deli Leadership Team for review. Thank you for your time.

Jorden Van Etten: My new grocery store. Very close to my house. It's got everything you could need. Big, clean, and fresh delicious food. I'll be coming here a few times a week. Very pleased with my first visit

Madeleine Richter-Atkinson: Fewer choices than other Safeways, especially in the fresh foods aisle. Often what's available is organic. A second star knocked because I've been to an HEB and generally have a qualm with grocery stores wrapping individual cucumbers in plastic, not providing options for locally grown produce and local products of other forms, and not providing at least one uncooked tortilla option.
Response: Thank you for your honest review, Madeleine. We're always looking at ways to improve and provide our customers with quality products and have shared your concerns with Store Leadership for further review and improvement. Your shopping experience is important to us, and we want to ensure you're satisfied after every time you visit. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and hope you have a wonderful week.

Loren Stanford: This place is disgusting and apathetic. While in line checking out, with jazz music playing on a speaker, I observed a woman walk past me with a dog on a leash and proceed around open food to go to Starbucks. The problem is the dog was NOT designated as a service animal. To be designated as a service animal, there is training and licensing and the dog is to wear it as a part of them. To leash a dog and “call” it an service animal is rude and disgusting. When I alerted the security guard from Wolf security that he allowed her to enter with a dog around food he looked at me and shook his head. When I went to the front desk to alert the front end manager, her response was we have a sign and once we tell them it has be a service animal and they reply it is one, there’s nothing we can do by law. Umm. No the fact that it does not have appropriate gear deems it not a service dog and it and the person carrying the leash should not be allowed in the store. The fact that they scoffed at me as why do I care shows that they lack any integrity in food safety. This was the deli and salad bar!!! Disgusting, they should be reprimanded and no do without PROPER SERVICE DOG ATTIRE SHOULD ENTER. I’m calling Dcra next to report to them too!
Response: We are sorry to hear about your experience with another customer's dog in our store, Loren. We have shared your comments with our store's Management Team for review. If you would like to be personally contacted about your experience, please chat with us via the Contact Us page on our site.

Jonathan Taylor: Meh. Not a bad shop, but never buy vegetables or meat without checking the Sellby date. Bonus tip: check the wine shelves for hidden gems. A 6 bottle purchase with membership unlocks an extra discount.
Response: Hi Jonathan! — We are delighted to hear you are enjoying our wine prices! However, we are disappointed to learn we are missing the mark on sell-by dates. We have shared your feedback with our team for further review. If you require further assistance, please reach out to us on our Contact US page or on our site using the questions bubble on the lower right-hand side. Thanks so very much.

Ross Auer: Yet another pathetic experience at the deli counter (from whoever was working at 10:30am June 19). I needed a pound of sliced provolone cheese from the deli and the girl at the counter outright refused to do it because she was FaceTiming with somebody on her phone. She actually said she would not help me and that I should go the the packaged cheese isle and find something or just leave. Unfortunately this isn't too out of the normal for the deli counter here. How do these people get and keep their jobs?
Response: We're truly sorry for your experience at our Deli counter, Ross. We have shared your feedback with the Store Director for review, so we can improve our customer service. At your earliest convenience, please chat with us through the Contact Us page, on our website, so we can follow up personally and make this right. Thank you.

gaetan spurgin: Close to the wharf, its a safeway.... so real in your expectations.... Artea seems like it would be better served with a whole foods, but this thrifty store is an easy walk from the wharf and a good place to pick up essentials if your staying in town

Kevin Perry: I'll keep this short. 1...I repeat...1...person working the entire deli, bakery, and pizza area. The lines are 10 deep and no one is helping. The store is extremely disorganized with tones of beggers and homeless outfront despite there being special police everywhere.
Response: Hi there Kevin. This is concerning to us, and we'd like to get you in touch with the Store Director. Hoping you'll give us another chance, please visit our site to chat with us or use our CONTACT US page, so we can reach out to you. We hope to hear from you soon!

Safeway: what do users think?

Elyse Horvath: I was rather pleasantly surprised by this Safeway! Normally I’m rather unimpressed and avoid Safeway but this location absolutely blew me away they have a neat salad bar thing they have popcorn stand made in house they have sushi and of all things a poutine bar! There meat section is wonderful too they have dry aged meats and a wide selection of plant based meat options intact they have a cooler dedicated to plant based meat options AND they have a good variety of wines and beer as far as grocery store in the district are including a wine cellar! This store was super clean for the hour I went in at (after 10pm) and was pleasantly surprised by how nice the bathrooms here were with marble like tiles in the bathroom and these bathrooms weren’t trash like most Safeway bathrooms I’ve used

Olivia Allen: I grew up shopping at the original store. Since the new store opened, it brings back sweet memories of growing up shopping at this same location. I love the new additions, especially all the quick meals for lunch and dinner. The store is clean and well stocked. The staff members are knowledgeable and friendly.
Response: We love to hear this! We have passed along your kind words to our Washington team. We are sure they will be thrilled to read them! Thank you so much for reaching out. Have a lovely rest of the weekend!

Shelly R EBlackRabbit: I'm a door dasher and came in today for an order. I had a little trouble finding a few items and came across "Mia". Without me having to ask she not only walked me to the correct section AND picked out my correct items!! Then as I was waiting in line for checkout, "Yolanda" directed me to a shorter line so I could get out of the store quicker. Being a delivery person can be frustrating while in a store but these two ladies really helped me out. Thank you so much!!! Personally, I think they deserve raises 🤷🏿‍♀️🤣😉

Steve Loudermilk: The newly opened Safeway in DC is a great grocery shopping experience. Only a block off Pennsylvania Ave, SE, it's big, roomy, with easy access and a large parking garage underground. It's got all the things you love about Safeway plus, outstanding deli, bakery, and wine store. And the best part: courteous helpful employees were everywhere. Even if it's not in a location you'd shop regularly, it's well worth the occasional trip.

Ed Rogers: My first impression is the size of this Safeway. A very good mix of items and the underground parking is plus. My new favorite grocery store. No longer will I have to travel outside city.

Mary Evans: A very well lit and spacious garage. The store was large with a large selection. Employees were friendly and very helpful. There were lots of smiling faces.

Janice Corbett: Safeway was great, shout out to "D" in the Deli area. Excellent customer service. The visit at the pharmacy was great as well. Kudos 14th Street SE Safeway 👍

Lord “Noturavgnewyorker” Walters: This may be the best supermarket I ever been to, fully stocked, epic customer service, incredible ambiance. Keep up the good work

Helen Hatcher: Not happy with the delivery express on this trip to the store, I got a 1/2lb of Havarti Cheese @ 12.99 lb and the young man that serviced me was unattended, the cheese was not separated by single sheet of paper but clump together and going every which way, the person was so busy on his phone, This is and is not an isolated situation, Ms.. Evelyn and Ms.Towanda do there work very well and I usually wait on them when I know they are there.
Response: Hello Helen, thanks for your feedback, we apologize for the inconvenience you had with the Deli counter. We are delighted to hear the wonderful compliments as well. We have shared your concerns with the Leadership Team for improvement. Free to contact us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page for further assistance. Thank you very much.

Renita Lake: The worst Safeway in the city in terms of product quality and freshness. The workers are kind of surly, too, on the whole. Stay away.
Response: Thank you for the honest feedback, we have shared this with our Leadership Team, we do hope you will reconsider visiting us in the future as we would love to see you again!

Safeway: what do users think?

G C: Interesting, in city, miniature, Safeway. The employees are friendly, the self checkout is clean and quick, the store is amazingly well laid out. Even though less than half the size of the usual store I found all I needed, fast.

Eddies: It's not a bad store for the inner city. They have a decent selection of inventory for a small story. My biggest issue is that I do NOT like seeing zero cash registers available and only self checkout. It's good to have the latter but it's not good when the latter is the only option. Edit: Thanks for your reply to my review but if you represent this company you should be taking the feedback to the appropriate personnel. Why would I need to "contact the store leadership"? Is that like forcing me to checkout my own purchases? No thanks!, I have a job....do yours! (minus another star) This just means I'm doing more shopping at your competitor's unless you can get your act together.
Response: Hey there, Eddie! We're very happy to hear that overall you like the store, but we are sorry to hear that you think the checkout could be better. We'd be happy to get you in contact with the Proper Leadership if you could please chat with us via the Contact Us section of our website!

Sunni Ting: Stocking is okay. It’s not uncommon for a particular item that I am looking for to be out of stock, but it’s also not chronic. Hours are convenient. Unfortunately, I feel that some cashiers can be incredibly rude depending on their mood. I’m in my 30s (f/Asian), but the way they have spoken to me on several occasions is as if they were a teacher and I were a misbehaving high school student (e.g., reprimanding me for not putting items very specifically where they thought I should during self check-out even though I put them in a designated weighing area and I purposely avoid the back area because I don’t want to forget them; being nasty when I had a question about a coupon and openly complaining that I was making more work for them, arguing the coupon didn’t apply when it clearly did, and saying I was holding up the line when the store was not busy and had many other checkout lanes and self-checkout stations open(Ana)). I have also had perfectly nice cashiers, but the multiple instances of rude and boarder-line demeaning behavior make me weary during check-out, and I avoid the store if I can buy what I am looking for elsewhere.
Response: Hello Sunni, We're sorry to hear of your recent experience with our Washington DC store. We strive to provide excellent service and this is not the impression we would like to leave you with. We would like the opportunity to further address your concerns. At your earliest convenience, please chat with us using the Contact US link at the bottom of our site or through our online chat system. We hope to hear from you soon.

Alani Willis: Goodafternoon everyone it is 4/25/22 i gave this business a 5 based on one person and her name is Charmaine. Kudos for your wonderful customer service and your attention to my needs because at that time YOU were going in another direction in the store however I Apologized for interrupting you, you rushed right over and helped me OUT! (I am the 1 that needed the buttermilk) but I wanted to say you to me are a great asset to this Safeway and kudos for the people that may encounter you everyday. THANK YOU, Alani

Andy Garrett: Small but convenient which you pay a premium for some things. Did not have a bakery or other amenities. Clean and well stocked.

Sophia Johnson: It's a Safeway, but not a lot of organic options and has limited supplies due to the size. They only had one brand of dry shampoo which isn't a big deal just annoying. Okay self checkout, but weirdly loud. The voice kept announcing everything very loudly and nothing scanned on the first try and then the voice would say very loudly "are you done?" or something. It's not my fault you need to press the item against the scanner. It's okay for a quick trip but I would go somewhere else to be honest.
Response: Hello Sophia, we are very sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. We seek to provide the best possible shopping experience and selections throughout our store. We understand your frustration and would like to hear more. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page, so we can learn more about your experience and make this right! Thank you.

Kevin McDonnell: This is the worst Safeway I have ever been to. You do not want to complain about anything as your concerns will be dismissed and you will be accosted by the management and employees. After waiting for one to appear, I asked the deli worker if they had imported Swiss cheese - the worker had to bring in a co-worker to translate my question. I never got an answer to my question. When I asked for thin slices separated by paper, I was handed a mess of paper with completely inconsistently cut slices which were thick at one end shaved off into paper thin at the other end. And that was after I physically demonstrated how I would like them stacked. The worker then proceeded to have a conversation in another language with Jorge about something obviously funny to them both. When another apparent deli worker came to the counter he expressed his indignation that I should be dissatisfied and proceeded to instruct me how to express my dissatisfaction. He then summoned a so-called manager who instructed the deli workers not to service me further and then called the police on me. At no time did I raise my voice, gesticulate in inordinate fashion, swear or grimace. This so-called manager pulled the nuclear option for making a perfectly legitimate complaint. A call to their corporate office resulted in being hung up on, the 1st time and I await a call back from them based on a 2nd call, moments later. I urge anyone reading this to complain vociferously to the management at this location in order to teach them to accept complaints like customer service professionals. The so-called manager in question should NOT be allowed to interact with customers - no one else should have to deal with an experience like that. The deli worker should be able to speak fluent English and co-workers should be taught to mind their own business, not take sides and not to eyeball customers in a menacing way. After leaving the store, one employee came out to stand with an associate from the liquor store across the street and talked about how he would don sunglasses and use a machete to "take care" of the incident. Wonderful hiring practices, Safeway - you really nailed it at this location - NOT!

Nick B: This store is nicknamed the soviet Safeway for a reason. They simply don’t seem to restock the shelves during the day, often leaving the shelves empty. It is not uncommon for me to run to the store looking for a few things and end up walking out with none of them.
Response: We apologize for not having our shelves well-stocked. We would like to further address your concerns to our Proper Teams for review and improvement. Please chat with us on our site or reach us through our Contact Us page to learn more and make things right! Thanks, Nick.

pablo menz: The place is really pack with everything like others Safeway even although is smaller, my only issue in my visit it was the heat, this locatiosn is extremely cold! I was able to see the steam of my breath it was nuts! I saw the cashier shacking while goving me the receipt, I hope the do something about it.
Response: Thank you for the feedback, we have shared this with our Leadership Team!

A B: Safeway is a massive source of urban noise and environmental pollution. At 5:30 am, trucks arrive and park, leaving their engine on for 20-30 minutes. The noise is deafening and the air is unbreathable. Imagine it's 5/5:30 am, a horrible noise wakes you up, your window starts vibrating, then a massive alarm starts ringing: it's the truck's backup alarm. At times, there are two or three trucks parked or going backward. Do the trucks need to keep the engine on? Do they need to use the alarm at 5am? Excessive noise and dangerous air pollution from 5am on... This is Safeway's urban policy for you! It's time to start a petition to move Safeway somewhere else.
Response: Hello Anna! Please accept our sincerest apologies for our shelves being empty, and for our service missing the mark! Your experience is important to us, and we will be sharing it with the Leadership team. If you would like to be personally contacted regarding your experience, please visit us on our site or Contact Us page. Thank you.

Safeway: what do users think?

Kenneth Emerson: Good clean grocery store. They've been out of business in Virginia. Nice to see them still around here.

Your Helpful Wendy: I like how they have a big variety of products and also they have their own brand which was cheaper than the regular ones. Everyone working here is amazing and this location of safeway also has a Starbucks in it. You can ask customer service for the Safeway card and this way you can get extra offers and good deals.
Response: Hello there! This feedback is wonderful to hear! We have shared your positive comments with the proper Teams for review and acknowledgment! We greatly appreciate your business as your local Washington DC Safeway and cannot wait to see you again soon!

Aida Willis: The music will make you want to dance and the staff are humble and friendly.

Roman Pope: Right in the middle of the city, you can find a respite for grocery shopping. It's your standard run of the mill American grocery store where you can find about anything you would expect. The food and brands do seem to have the premium quality to it. The selection is very large for smack in the middle of the city across three busy main roads store. Don't forget that bags are 5 cents each by law in DC, but this does tend to make you witness some bag fights and drama.

Pamela Johnson: Great place if you're looking for a quick lunch and dinner. The Deli has a great variety of foods, ask for Vincent. Vincent is very knowledgeable, professional, polite, and will always greet you with a smile 😃 Thank you Mr Vincent for assisting me with great low calories foods 😋 The whole store is 👍 Thank you Safeway 😊

Naomi Rich: Update: I did as Safeway commented, which was just for show. The only feedback from contacting them via their website was the generic auto reply. Worst Safeway I’ve been to in any state. Worst customer service, poor/no attention to COVID cleanliness throughout the pandemic, and ALL staff I’ve interacted with at checkout act as if scanning your groceries are a burden. Sorry if Safeway treats your horribly, they charge enough to pay you more. If you have any issues or questions, you will never be helped and will actually be made to feel like a problem. A manager literally got upset for me commenting that my Safeway card didn’t work. I truly wish this wasn’t the closest market, when I can I walk two miles to avoid it.
Response: Hi there, Naomi. We are very sorry to hear we missed the mark at your local L St location! Your feedback and business mean a lot to us, and we have shared this all with Store Management for further review. And, we would like to get you in contact with them personally on these matters. At your earliest convenience, please chat with us using the Contact US link towards the bottom of our website. We look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Isabel Moris: Attempted to do grocery pickup at this location because of COVID; the phone for pickup was going straight to voicemail (it had not been set up properly). Attendants did not provide good service 1.they asked us to go inside to the main checkout area 2. they did not let us finish saying what we needed before instructing us to walk to another spot in the store If you can choose another location. If you are COVID conscious or need extra assistance this is not the store for you.
Response: Hi Isabel, thank you so much for your honest review. Please contact us on our Contact US page or on our website using the questions bubble on the lower right-hand side so that we may get additional details about your pick-up experience to further assist you. Thanks again, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Andrea Skeete: I sometimes shop here when I am visiting my Son in DC. Very clean and well kept. Some of the staff aren't as nice as others. It's very rude when you come in and say hello and do not get acknowledged. You can't deal with the public and walk around with an attitude and long face, just not professional at all. This is why I rated it just okay.
Response: Hello Andrea, We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that our L Street location is always clean and well kept. But we are very sorry that the customer service is not the best and could use some improvement. We have shared your comments and concerns with the appropriate personnel for review and improvement. Should you need further assistance with this matter, please reach out to us through our Contact Us page, and we'd be happy to help. Thank you. Have a lovely rest of your week.

Mary Lewis: The fact that I waited in the customer service line for 30 minutes today? With no one at the counter?? Is just the tip of the iceberg for the horrible service that’s always being shared at this location! A COMPLETE HORROR ! This is not the first time! I called the store 3 times and being disconnected and hung up on! …. The drive up and go persons were soooooooooo busy with Drive up and go that they couldn’t even answer a question for me! The person at self checkout also Walked passed me as if I was never there! Thank GOD when the manager finally came? She was polite and courteous! No one paged her! They let me stand at the counter for 30 entire minutes!….this is my second unsatisfactory experience here! The first time I complained I never got a call from A leader on store level or a District leader! City vista? At this point? Hechinger mall and Minn Ave are delivering a better experience than you al! And we allllllll know how ratchet those stores are! Hopefully this feedback helps front end service to improve because professionalism, morale, and common humanity lack big time in this HORROR of a store
Response: Hello Mary we are sad to hear about the service you experienced with our associates. That is not the level of customer service we expect from our employees. Allison Diggs: This Safeway was bigger on the inside than it looked on the outside. The thing that I liked most was the neatness and organization. I haven't seen a Safeway that neat! It's too cute. Safeway you found yourself a returning customer. 💜

Safeway: what do users think?

The Way: [TRUCK DELIVERY]park at the dock —-> check-in at front —-> unloading —-> paperwork (so fast, 30 min)

Tiffany Carter: This Safeway never have any lines open or have anything on the shelves and then you have some cashier that don't want to do their job some lady was slamming people food when she were ringing up the items.then the security Guard going say don't nobody want to work they called out or didn't show up. Then it was only 8:48 pm when it was 2 lines open then 1 line open and self check out. They need to be more professional in this store . I was not please with the service at all
Response: Hi Tiffany, we are disappointed to learn we were not in tiptop shape for your visit and that our staff was less than friendly. Our apologies for not meeting your expectations, we are incredibly sorry. Your concerns have been shared with our team for further review. If you need further assistance, please reach out to us on our Contact US page or on our site using the questions bubble on the lower right-hand side. Thank you so very much for your review, and we hope you have a beautiful Wednesday.

Brenda Battle: First and foremost for me was the lack of shopping carts. I saw some in the store but coming into the it, there were none to be found! It severely limited my shopping experience to a couple of bowls of fruit. Sadly, this facility has greatly deteriorated over the years. I do not plan to return.
Response: We are sorry for your experience and have shared your feedback with our Team. We do hope you will give us another opportunity, as we do appreciate the chance to improve!

Khaleelah Hardie: Stopped by Starbucks to get some blended treats and Taliyah served me. She let me know they didn't have whipped cream and when she saw my disappointment she offered to make some fresh, even though it was close to closing. She was super sweet and gave great service!

Lanora Weekly: Nice and clean they keep the lines down cashiers very friendly

bFly Young: Needed veggies found some good food today.

Michele Stoute: Band new store in SE DC upstairs and down stairs You could eat off the floors it is that clean Employees wear smiles polite and helpful Security is off the chain lol i saw them arrest two different shop lifters while in the store shop ing Fresh food amazing

Mark Horn: Can't find any carts here, nor hand carry baskets. Rodent and other mice line the floor. And there is only 2 check out's open all the time..and the self check out is the worst. This Safeway needs a a do over ASAP!
Response: Hello, Mark! We'd really like to discuss your experiences with you in greater detail, so we may get you in contact with the proper leadership if you could please chat with us via the Contact Us section of our website!

Carmen Davis: Empty shelves and no shopping carts. Store wasn't busy. Why???? I know people take them. Find a better security system and hire more people.

Lashawn Pearson: The cashier was very helpful she put my bags in my cart bc I'm handy and she was very polite it's very clean and I found all my items

Safeway: what do users think?

peter pinkham: Like all safeways, they have a good supply of a wide assortment of items. They have a nice produce section and a nice deli and prepared food section. This particular safe Way is a little small than many I'm used to, and the parking lot is unfortunately, barely adequate. Given those factors, it's location is excellent for people that live in the city and don't want to drive out to the suburbs for shopping for food. It's nice little store, I know people who've been going here for many years. When I'm in this area town and need something I know I can count on going here to get it. Usually worth the trip.

danceswithcars w: Good enough Found discounted up front & rack near bathroom behind flowers, Free masks by deli Self checkout near handicapped Sale $5.50-.50 paz_ Mardi gras donuts didn't scan, required a person to come over Found out later Teddy's sarsaparilla had sucralose which I would have rather not had. Cold would be nice too but 0.80 ok price
Response: Hello there, thank you for your honest feedback regarding our store design. We are sorry to hear about your experience with scanning issues upon checkout. Please reach out to us on our website under Contact Us or through our chat feature, so we can assist you with this. Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you.

Donna WalkerJackson: First visit to purchase a hot cooked chicken and there was none, was told will be ready at 10:45 ,and I was surprised. Columbia Road hot cooked chicken's are ready at 9:30 am but to each its own. The self checkout clerk was very nice.It felt like the North Pole in there, burr.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and the kind words for the checkout clerk. We are sorry to hear the hot cooked chickens were not ready when you were shopping and the store was too cold. We have shared this with the store leadership team for review. We would like to have our Leadership Team reach out to you directly. At your earliest convenience please reach out via our Contact US page with your best contact information. Thank you!

Stuart Miles-McLean: This Safeway is an old quasi suburban strip mall design that's really showing its age. It has a long large ugly blank wall facing the vibrant Connecticut Avenue neighborhood retail area just south of Chevy Chase circle. It's relatively small inside, which limits its inventory. They have worked hard to improve the produce and the number of items they keep in stock, but it's really time for this one to be redeveloped with some mixed use like the Safeway on Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown or the one on Bradley boulevard in Bethesda.
Response: Thank you for your feedback, we have shared this with the appropriate Team to review and consider. Thanks for being a loyal customer and Have a nice day.

ah: One plus is your store is close by. Right now produce has some nice fruit, nice Dave's Bread selection, and sale on Turkey Hill gallon size. But due to inflation I may have go more often to Walmart. Many of the items I buy have gone way up- 28 oz can of Bush's Vegetarian Baked Beans almost $3- unbelievable!

Ludette: It's an old grocery store. The aisles are too narrow for the regular carts. This particular s store will need a state-of-the-art renovation of the entire facility to keep up with our changing times.
Response: Hello there, Ludette. We are very sorry to hear we missed the mark here at your local Washington, DC Store! Your feedback and business mean a ton to us, and we have shared this with Store Management for further review. If you would like to be in contact with them personally regarding this, please feel free to chat with us on our website or through our Contact US page! We hope you have a wonderful Tuesday evening.

Martin Wilson: This store is just poorly run and laid out. Been going for a while, the self check out lines helped...but they back up into the ailes. Today I went to pick up from the store in the 'drive up and go' "feature." After waiting for 30 minutes and calling the provided number (which rang out) I finally went in. They said after 5pm you have to call the store number, not the app number because all the guys went home. I got attitude for not knowing this unadvertised practice, like it is some speakeasy. The woman who finally delivered the food after 40 minutes was very nice.
Response: Hey Martin, we appreciate your honest review and have shared your concerns, regarding our layout, with our Connecticut Avenue Leadership Team for their review and improvement. We sincerely apologize for the long wait for your Drive Up order, as we know your time is valuable. This matter, as well, will be shared with our Home Shopping Manager for review, so we can continue improving our customer service. If you would like to be personally contacted regarding your experiences, please chat with us through the Contact US page on our website. Thank you.

Dilip Rambohan: I really love this store, everytime I go to do my shopping there I always find everything's I need, and I always get very good attention as a customer ☺️

R J: Coming here for 25 years, but now prefer starvation. New mgr prob ought to visit the DMV to raise her interpersonal relations game. You can keep your loud mgr who plays to crowds.

Mia A. Rapier: Not great, not horrible. Decent selection, good Safeway prices, good location.
Response: Hi Mia, we truly appreciate your honest feedback. Your comments will be shared with our Store Director. However, we'd like to hear more about how we can improve our selection. Please chat with us through the Contact Us page on our website, so we can improve our store. Thank you and we hope you have a great day!

Safeway: what do users think?

Renita Lake: Safeway isn't my normal go-to for groceries, especially meats 😒, but this particular store has always felt nice and cozy; it's almost like a neighborhood bodega. The workers are great and the meat selection AT THIS STORE has never done me wrong.

Narayan Kharel: Check out is a bit slow there, although a good place for grocery

JJ Hersh: Decently well stocked with fair prices, but they seem to have gotten rid of their entire kosher section and no employee I asked seemed to have even heard of the word kosher. There was no explanation as to why the sign at the end of one of the aisles still says kosher and no acknowledgement that there had ever been a kosher section from anyone I asked.

Adalberto Santiago: Safeway is one of the best grocery store around here all the products are fresh and all the employees always are respectful and polite.

Matthew Lawlis: Although it is much smaller with less products than the nearby Harris Teeter, this Safeway is possibly a better place to shop. The prices are not as inflated and it has everything that you would want from a grocery store. Unless you have specific needs, shop here if money is an issue. Its clean, friendly, and the lines move quickly.

Ben Hartmann: Always understaffed and understocked. They remove all the meats from the shelves after a certain hour or something. Not worth going to, especially when there are other options nearby that are both nicer and cheaper.
Response: We apologize for not meeting your shopping expectations at our Columbia Rd location. Please allow us to further assist with your concerns and get you connected with the Store Director. Until then, have a wonderful Monday!

Michelle Higdon: Overpriced and their bakery items are not good. I don't think they have an in-house bakery like other Safeway. Baguette tasted like cardboard.
Response: Hello Michelle, We appreciate your feedback, we are striving to always provide the best possible shopping experience and competitive prices. We have shared this with our pricing and merchandising teams and our bakery team for your Columbia Road location. We hope your day goes well.

Marisu: Employees are very nice, and I always find what I'm looking for at a reasonable price. Convenient location.

Lisa Gilmore: Tye went out of her way during her break to customize a birthday cheesecake for me. Much appreciated.

Gyongyi Olah: Great staff, fresh products, clean place. Try the sourdough bagett!

Safeway: what do users think?

Gwendolyn Robinson-Young: This is the ONLY major grocery store close to the Parkside, Paradise, and Mayfair community. Selection of some foods are limited or they just don't carry. Items are not priced as indicated on the shelves. The items in the clearance section are raised up and then reduced to 30 - 50% off to appear that you are getting a discount. Customer Service is not as helpful or attentive as they should be. They take their time to acknowledge you. They are either talking to Security, cashier or a customer in another check out line. Paper products and disposable products have sky rocketed in price seems like everywhere. One good thing I noticed was the price of their gallon jugs of Spring Water. It is still 99 cents! That is one of the items that I purchased. They still have problems with SHOP LIFTERS!

Johnathan Collins: I honestly I'll only go here for essential things that I know won't expire like toilet paper and deodorant. Often there's food in the produce section that I visibly can see mold on. Just get in and get out. My last trip to this store I was buying some things and as I'm walking, my food and items fell out of the basket from the bottom! The basket was broken and I told the store attendant and gave it to the young lady. As soon as I walked outside I saw her put the basket right back in the front of the store for the next unlucky person to have the same thing happen. Every time I go to this location its something going on. There's always a ton of people just standing at the front door as if they're going to sale you something. Completely ignoring the no loitering sign posted. I really would like for someone higher up in the Safeway food chain (no pun intended) to invest some money in this store just help with the overall experience. Never have an issue with speaking to the staff as they've been nice to me, the store itself could just be a little bit more maintained.
Response: Hi Johnathan, we are sorry to hear you feel this way about shopping with us. Our goal is to always provide the best possible quality of our food, and we are sorry we missed the mark. We also appreciate you provided these details about our carts and will forward your concerns to our Proper Teams for further review. If you like to receive a follow-up regarding this matter, please feel free to chat with us on our site or reach us through our Contact Us page. We are glad that our staff is providing great customer service, kudos to them. Thank you!

Michele Peyton: We’d. June 1, I put in an order at your bakery with a male employee in the morning about 8ish AM. I said I wanted a 1/2 sheet cake with butter crème icing; purple cake border with a purple large center in the center of the cake. Centered in the middle of the cake I wanted written Community and the word Day centered under the word Community. I needed the cake ready by noon Friday, June the 4th. I called the bakery on Friday, June 4 early around 11:10 am to check on the cake progress and to see if it maybe ready. If it was ready early, I had a person to go with me to carry the cake because I couldn’t because I walk with a cane. The cake was for a Community Day event held at the Dorothy Height library for families, friends and children. When I called the bakery, I was told that NO cake order was put in. The lady I spoke with on Friday, June 4, said she would try to get one ready. I have never encountered this unprofessional, horrible customer service from a Safeway. I’ll try my best to never again shop at the 40th Street Safeway.
Response: Hello, Michele. We are very sorry to hear about your most recent experience here at the Bakery of your local Washington, DC Store! We truly appreciate your business and feedback, and we have gone ahead and addressed this all with the Store Director for further review. So we can get you in contact with them personally, at your earliest convenience, please chat with us on our website or through our Contact US page. We look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Rahzel Mickens: Its 2022. I carry dollars and money is on my card. I don't carry no coins. 25cent a cart smh who carries coins in 2022? I surely don't. I can see if you had a card slide on or something, but y'all asking for coins that no one carries. Whoever is the owner needs to hold this L big time👎
Response: Hello there Rahzel and sorry for the inconveniences this has been causing for you on your latest shopping trips! We've informed our management team about this for review and consideration. If there's anything else you would like to add, just visit our official site and send us a chat and we will be more than happy to talk further. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope you next visit is a smoother one!

Laveria Whitby: Very good experience at the Safeway nice and clean employee was very respectful to me and my friend and help me thank you

K N: Visitor from out of state. I was disappointed with the fruits and veggies; they were not fresh at all. The seafood department appeared disgusting. I can't transcribe onto words what that was like. Nonetheless, the isel were pretty easy to navigate. There was a nice woman working the floor and the young lady who checked us out, both were very pleasant. The store could use an upgrade quite honestly. Prices weren't the best especially considering the area. I enjoyed my trip to the Giant far better.
Response: Hi KN, thank you for your feedback, and we sincerely apologize that your shopping experience was not exceptional. Your experience is important to us, and we appreciate the chance to address your feedback, thank you.

Velvet M: I’ve got a project in Anacostia Rd SE and was desperate to find a coffee shop and then the grocery store. Boy I tell ya, did I ever find one. It’s pathetic and sad, the differences in appearance, merchandise availability, and customer care from store to store, in particular: SAFEWAY 322 40th St SE. Don’t expect much from these store reps; whether manager or peon, they’re oblivious to their customers and only focus on their handheld devices. This concern includes their onsite security officer; he was on his phone my 5 visits. Drug transactions carried out near the double door entrances, the never ending check out lines with only 2 or 3 tills available. I asked for the “self-service” kiosk, the store rep looked like I asked to borrow a $100 bucks. Haven’t the Managers/ District Mngrs/ Regional Mngrs seen their store’s paltry and sad conditions or read reviews?! Good grief BFolx, have some pride in yourself, community and please don’t say the “man’s holding you back”. I didn’t see nary a one “man”near there. There are no grocery stores nearby, no coffee shops nearby. A bleak and desolate neighbourhood. Full service grocery stores with friendly reps, fresh produce and stocked shelves are across the bridge SE, where I used to live - Eastern Market PENN Ave/ 8th SE-, it’s a shame. I’ll say this, deep SE is struggling to holdout against gentrification but it’s on the horizon. As soon as you spot one jogger at 6pm, it’s a wrap. On one hand I’m sad about the eradication of BP from our own neighbourhoods but on the other, there’s nothing sacred to BP so Gentrification it is. Now let me get up out of here before I become a stray bullet statistic.
Response: Hi Velvet! We are sorry to hear you experienced these types of issues, and we would like to get you in contact with the appropriate Leadership Team. Please reach out to us on our site by chat or contact us the link for assistance. Thank you in advance.

Wendy Waxler: The was halfway empty due to the inflation rate. I know that they are trying their best, but can they do? Most stores are in the same situation.

Harish Srinivasan: Good store, nice selections, Membership is free and gets significant savings. Checkout line can be a bit slow sometimes.

Niccole Berry: They don't carry the baby formula I need and refuse to order it.

Safeway: what do users think?

carolyn jackson: I love, love, love this store. They are always fully stock. The staff is friendly and always willing to help you if you looking for something you don't see. With the food shortage going on. It doesn't seem to affect them in any way. It a fun store to shop. They always have what you need. The seafood dept. Is my best thing. I love how they fry your fish free and perferT!!!

Ecca Urueta: Using the trolley handle on a small electric wheel I can hook a basket into is prohibited "because the floor was just waxed," despite normal traffic of shopping carts, mobility devices, and shoes just as likely to scuff the floor. It's not like people walk around in socks at Safeway. If the state of the floor is the priority here, then stay closed. The floor would stay perfect forever. Meanwhile Trader Joe's has zero issues with this.
Response: We're saddened to hear of your experience during your latest visit to our store. This is not how we would like for customers to reflect on their shopping experience with us and would like to hear more of your latest visit to further assist. At your earliest convenience, please visit our website to chat or reach out to us using the Contact US link located at the bottom of our website.

Paul Saunders (Vince): I love my Safeway except for one thing. There's never any carts, even when the store is not crowded and they've gotten rid of they small carry baskets all together. U' would like the manager would have notice this. Please get more carts

Robert McCollum: Customer service sucks! Will never go back to this store. I'm 51 years old and almost totally gray and see won't give me cigarettes because my I'D expired. Where is the common sense. Under 21 I wish. I law says you must be 21 to buy cigarettes. It's OK because nobody in my family or friends will shop there.
Response: Hello Robert, we apologize for any inconvenience. Please feel welcome to use our "Contact Us" link at the bottom of our official website. We are happy to further assist and get you connected with the Store Director regarding your concern. Hopefully, we get to hear from you soon. Until then, have a great Tuesday!

Ella Mae: THAT LADY ANGELA THAT WORK THERE FOR NIGHT CREW NEED TO BE FIRED! SHE IS NOT A PEOPLE PERSON. AND THE OTHER YOUNG DARK SKIN GIRL TOO! THEY ARE NOT PEOPLE PERSON. THE DARK SKIN GIRL SLAMMING STUFF AROUND AS SHE IS CLEANING AND MAKING ALL TYPES OF GROANS WHEN PEOPLE NEEDED HELP AT SELF CHECKOUT. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON ANGELA! SHE IS SO RUDE! I NEEDED CASH BACK AND THE MACHINE DIDNT GIVE IT BACK AND SHE ACTED AS IF I WAS HER WORST ENEMY. SHE WAS SO MEAN TO ME. IM PREGNANT AND I HAD MY ONE YEAR OLD SON WHILE SHE WAS ACTING LIKE AN ÄSS. WE WERE SCARED FOR OUR SAFETY! SHE CONTINUED TO BE SO RUDE I HAD TO WALK OUT WITHOUT MY CASH BACK AND SHE STARTED YELLING AT ME ACROSS THE STORE BECAUSE SHE HAD THE MONEY THE WHOLE TIME AND CONTINUED TO BE DISRESPECTFUL. WHOEVER HIRED HER NEED TO RETHINK THAT. HER WORK ETHIC MIGHT BE GOOD BUT SHE IS AN ÄSSHOLE AND I HOPE SOMEONE MATCH HER MOUTH AND GIVE HER A TASTE OF HER MEDICINE. I WASNT GOING TO ARGUE BECAUSE MY CHILD WAS PRESENT AND IM PREGNANT.
Response: Hello, Ella. This is not the kind of experience we want our customers to have in our stores, and we would really like to make sure that this is adequately addressed! If you could please chat with us via the Contact Us section of our website, we would be glad to get you in contact with the Store Leadership!

Kenneth Kiser: I always love having to get my groceries from this Safeway store. Its clean and stocked up fresh in every department.

Jacob Vassalotti: Store is clean and well-stocked. Great deals and rewards with the Safeway app. Sometimes lines are long but staff is friendly, and one of the managers is super helpful whenever I need help using a Safeway digital gift card. Just check the expiration date on everything you buy.

--: Caution, this bakery sells old stale cakes. Read the label before you purchase. Yesterday, February 6th, I picked up a chocolate cake in their bakery which appeared to be fresh. We served the cake at home and it was tough and very difficult to cut... then looked at the label and saw that was "packed" on January 21 which was 16 days earlier....ancient in cake time.
Response: Hi there, Bobby. We are very sorry to hear about this experience you had with our Bakery items at your Washington, DC location. Your business and feedback mean a lot to us, and we have shared this with Store Management for further review. And, we would like to get you in contact with them personally on this. At your earliest convenience, please chat with us on our website or through our Contact US page. We hope to hear from you very soon.

Leslie H: Typically I don't make statements like this. That said here was my experience at Safeway this morning. I go in there to get coffee from Starbucks and right off the rip the lady (the African American lady who's hair is SO BLEACHED it looks like the sun is growing on the top of her head. I even asked a nice inquisitive question as was shut down with a very ambiguous response. I am telling you. I understand that because of the pandemic? That is not even an excuse to scrape the bottom of the barrel. I am sorry I am offended. This was 12/31/21 at about 7am. Let's see how she treats me . She keeps that up she will be hustling coffee forever. Customers? Don't need to hear negativity that early.
Response: Your feedback really matters to us, Leslie. Please chat with us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page with your ph# so we can further assist you. We look forward to hearing from you.

Harriet Saulsbury: It was quick and fast the dr. Was very friendly when giving me my covid booster shot.

Safeway: what do users think?

The Way: [TRUCK DELIVERY]park at the dock —-> check-in at front —-> unloading —-> paperwork (so fast & flexible app, 30 min)

Kev- keepingitreal: They offer a verity of frozen Food, Dairy Products, Fruits, Vegetables, Baked Goods, Prepared Food, Beer, Wine, Starbucks, SunTrust Bank and a Pharmacy. The parking lot needs to be repaired with more spaces between each vehicle, the parking spaces is too small.

Fred Simms: There were no shopping carts or hand baskets. You must bring your own bags or box to walk around the store. When carts were available recently you had to pay $0.25 for one like they do at Aldi's. Fortunately I only had a couple of items to get and there was no line at the self-serve checkout.
Response: Hello Fred, thank you for your feedback! We are sorry to hear about your experience at your local store. This is certainly not the experience we wish to provide you with. We have shared your comments with our Store Director for review and training purposes. Our goal is to provide a better shopping experience on your next visit to your local store. Thank you, have a great day!

Sam Odle: I’ve updated this review several times and it’s gone between 4 and 1 star depending on the day. Overall, some great employees here. Sometimes the lines get incredibly long. Compared to the location only a mile south on D street, this one doesn’t stack up well.

treshauna gilbert: I got a pumpkin spice frap from Starbucks and it did not taste the same as when I get it from other Starbucks. The lady that was the cashier didn’t even greet me when i first walked up I had to greet her . Then she almost didn’t remember to say the special things I wanted in my drink to the lady that was making it . The drink is disgusting & the customer service is trash . I would not ever recommend this Starbucks to anyone I would rather go all the way across town then come here
Response: Hi Treshauna. We apologize for the quality of your Starbucks pumpkin spice frap and the employee's behavior. We will be sure to alert the store leadership of this. If you would like to be personally contacted, chat with us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page with your phone number. Have a great weekend!!

Onyinyechi A: This location is complete garbage when it comes to customer service. I called this location to ask a question in regards to their Seafood products and I was on hold for over 10 minutes. when I finally got transferred to the general customer service because no one in the seafood department picked up she then tried to transfer me back again which put me on hold for another 10 minutes. when the car bounce back to her for the third time and I told her can she just asked the question and get back to me she tried to transfer me again but this time she hung up on me I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not. Either way this place sucks and I went to a different Safeway.

James Simmons: Well I work here as a security guard, my lunch break is the best time for me because the hot food especially the chicken is better than Popeyes if you ask me and the price is even better.

Ryan Moore: This store is terrible. Check out is slow and the service desk where you can send and receive FedEx packages always has a long line of people complaining, returning items, and buying lottery tickets. You might as well drive to an actual FedEx store, it would be faster. When leaving you'll be greeted by 2-3 people inside the store by the exit begging for money. The customers here are generally inconsiderate. As I type this, there are customers parked in the fire lane blocking a fire truck and ambulance.

sandy Morgan: This is the Safeway of last resort. Never enough cashiers. Do not visit around the first of the month. The better one is the one off of 14th Street SE
Response: Hi, we appreciate your feedback! Please know we have shared your concerns, with our proper Leadership teams and Store Director for further review and improvement. Our goal is to provide everyone with the best service. Your opinion is important to us, and we thank you for your time. Have a great rest of your week and thank you for shopping with us! If you would like to be personally contacted regarding your experience, please visit us on our site or the Contact Us page.

Safeway: what do users think?

Mary Thomas: I have witnessed a significant improvement and experience at the store over the last year. Major renovations have been completed and at least two underway for - Starbucks and the floral section of the store. From my perspective, the produce section has a quality selection, as do meats and seafood. The manager and store staff are doing a great job, making major progress, and for these actions --I applaud them.

JG Gilpatric: Pharmacy is a disaster. You could get better service from someone selling pharmaceuticals out of the trunk of their car in the parking lot. Specifics: 1. If this pharmacy says they’ll contact your healthcare provider about a refill: check. And check again. Check again. Best to physically go to your MD, get the paper, deliver it to this pharmacy. See 3. 2. Customers who wait their turn in line should expect to wait while the counter person addresses questions/conversations/issues from store customers previously served or walking by. Pro tip: feel free to ask questions/make conversation regardless if there’s a customer at the register. 3. Common medications may be unavailable at this pharmacy. Best to ask for refills weeks in advance. This will enable the pharmacy to tell you it’s too early for a refill. Waiting 3-4 days before your prescription runs out will allow this pharmacy to tell you they need to order it. 4. If vaccines are being administered, try your attempt to get a prescription filled another day. Ditto if the pharmacist is on the phone, looking at a computer monitor, sitting or wearing anything blue or white.
Response: Thank you for bringing this to our attention, JG. We're very saddened to hear the efficiency given at your local store. This is far from the level of efficiency we strive to provide our customers, and we have shared your comments with Store Leadership. We would like to hear more about your experience, so we can further assist. At your earliest convenience visit our website's chat or reach out to us using the Contact US link located at the bottom of our website. We look forward to hearing from you.

Esperanza Agnew: This is my go to grocery store for quick shopping in the area. They are generally well-stocked with decent customer service. I really like the new design of the store, especially the improvements to the produce section and the increased availability of organic and plant-based options. Yay! I do hope they continue to grow these options as I would do more of my major shopping here if they did.

Dwayne Cowart: Went to store on Saturday April 16, 2022 for cold medicine. The manager was paged 3 times and never responded to the page. Employee had to go and find override key. I was at the register for 10 to 15 minutes. That's why people shop at giant. Poor service and sad managers that don't do there job.
Response: Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about this. Please know we want to provide everyone with the best customer service and convenient shopping trips. Please know we have directed your concerns to the proper teams and Store Director for further review and improvement. Thank you for your time and have a wonderful rest of the weekend. If you would like to be personally contacted regarding your experience, please visit us on our site or the Contact Us page.

iAm CMack: The cashiers and staff are always polite and helpful. The produce, deli & meat dept are are point. They do have a theft problem with people walking in and grabbing items by the entryway and leaving. Not sure what can be done but I've seen it twice.

Ethel Wade: Mark in the seafood department at the Swann Creek Safeway, provided my husband and I great customer service! He's also knowledgeable about seafood! Great experience!

DAVID DELEON: Went to get my second booster, and it was fast quick, and easy. The physician was very very nice.

DiggyDoc: Their chicken is solid.....but the bathrooms are janky 81% of the time I visit during work...... The paper towels be skimp and its always a toilet out of order.......and its jive unkeep during peak hours
Response: Hi there DiggyDoc. We are sad to hear that we missed the mark on your recent visit. We will share this with the Store Director for review. If you would like to speak to the store director personally, at your earliest convenience, please reach out to us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page, to share your contact information. Have a nice day!

Gwendolyn Chadwick: This Store has really stepped up their appearance with the new layout and renovations. It really makes shopping exciting for me besides the sales and bargains.

Sherry Tucker: Manu products items were bad. A bag of New York Apples all bag. I couldn't over a dozen mandarins by peelz and others were rotten and molded. Trash and have your employees inspect Safeway.
Response: Hello there Sherry. We do sincerely apologize for the poor produce you received while shopping at our East Swan Creek store. We will make sure that this feedback is able to be looked into and addressed by our Store Team and Management to help improve our store for everyone going forward. Your feedback really matters to us. Thank you.

Safeway: what do users think?

Sheri I.: I have been going to this safeway since I was 10. I ordered a full sheet cake for my instructors birthday. My directions were rainbow pretty and fun. The baker and whoever decorated (Francisco?) nailed it. My instructor was so happy and refused to cut the cake until all the other teachers came to see it. The staff at this location are awesome. Super helpful and always working hard. :) Thank you

Joel Spangler: I actually stumbled upon this grocery store on my way home from work. My usual store is located a few miles up Georgia Avenue en Petworth, but I had forgotten to go there earlier to pick up some things to take home. Luckily I remembered what I needed as I drive past here. I went on in and picked up some milk, a bag of oranges, and some bananas as well. I also got three cans of tuna, because this will be my dinner tonight. While I was walking through the isles I noticed that everything was clean, and the shelves appeared to be well-stocked. I even got help from an employee who gave me directions to the restroom that is located in the back of the store. So all-in-all a quick first time experience at this grocery store, and no issues to report here. The checkout process was routine, and fairly quick. Also the parking situation was easy and there more than enough spaces when I arrived.

Erica Jean Belle: Seriously gross!! I went to pick up some groceries on Mother’s Day and when shopping I noticed they had a few things the expired in April on the shelves still. So I skipped over those items I end up purchasing these meatballs only to open them up in to see how moldy they were. I try to prepare them only an hour after purchase but clearly cannot serve this for Mother’s Day dinner. I return them and get my money back but the staff do not seem to be concerned about the molding meatballs and did not go and check the other meatballs.
Response: Hello Erica, this should not happen, and we are sorry that you had a poor experience when you visited us! We are glad you were able to have this resolved at the store. At any time if you would like to speak to someone personally about your experience, please reach out to us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page.

Bryan Cortez: Discrimination. I feel like this store has an issue with Hispanic people in general. I have been going here since I was young, and a lot of the staff here seem to have a disdain towards Hispanic clientele. I've come here plenty of times, waiting for Western Union and been ignored most of the time, or told to wait while customer service attends everyone else. This isn't a one time only experience. Cashiers rolling their eyes whenever they see someone in line speaking Spanish, won't greet you or treat you nice - but will to others. Huh, gee, I wonder if it's because my ethnicity annoys them or my language. Now comes another issue - The Bakery. Almost always has old items in stock, and well past their sold by date. What gives, and if you're going to do that - why not atleast offer a discount? I will NOT be giving this Safeway any more of my money at all. I actively do anything to avoid this store - even if it's nearby. The Giant Food on East West Highway knows how to treat their customers well, and no discrimination is faced there.

Denise W: A combination farm store, bakery and nursery with pick your own. Got a baked good and soft serve to enjoy while we look at the plants. Its late for some things but we got peppers and basil plants along with an unusual almost black dahlia. Pick your own strawberries was happening but we got there at the hottest time of the day. A nice puting from DC .

Peter Gannon: Shout-out to Larnell who was working the self-checkout late last night, he had a great attitude and went above and beyond to help me (while keeping things moving for other customers too). Just wanted to give credit where it was due, thanks for being a great neighborhood grocery store!

Miss E: Love this safeyway. It's been here for years and I've always shopped here and still will. Great location and Great Staff! Very convenient

Gigi Dacis: This one is incredibly dirty...DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM...Just tell you bladder NO unless you like horror movies like SAW!!! They should have it locked until a real looking patron comes through ....
Response: Your feedback really matters to us, Gigi. We have shared with store management. Please chat with us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page with your ph# if you would like to be personally contacted. Thank you for shopping with us.

disco 07: This store definitely varies depending on so many factors. However, it is open until midnight and has saved me more than a few times. The location works for me and generally I can find what I need. On this day I only needed a few things, all of which they had in stock. If you want security, just wear a hoodie. You may be better off not asking for help. Stick mostly to canned and packaged goods. It's OK to do your regular shopping here, but you might want to case the joint first. Every once in a while, security follows me outside and asks for a receipt. It's ok because now I can make my car safely. Especially at night. Someone just asked me, "What's your point". I don't know. Good luck!

VIRGINIA Parker: I was at Safeway around closing. Clean and stocked. I went in to check them out got some yogurt and 🍌 for breakfast in the morning
Response: Thank you for this feedback! It is gratifying to know we are meeting your expectations. Hope to see you soon! Stay Well Virginia 🌟

Safeway: what do users think?

F Ahmed: I don't understand why this place has bad reviews. This is a great store that has a great stock of items. The store is usually pretty clean and everything is fairly priced. I love that they have free garage parking and you can get in and out quickly.

Charlie Long: If you live in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor you have (5) "major" options for groceries. (3) are "on line" and central to the corridor and (2) are slight detours. Each is a bit different and has unique pros and cons. Central: - Safeway (Rosslyn) - Whole Foods (Courthouse/Clarendon) - Trader Joe's (Clarendon) Detour: - Giant (Lee Highway) - MOM's Organic Market (Lee Highway) The Rosslyn Safeway was recently renovated into a fairly decent store. Pros: - It’s close to the majority of the offices in Rosslyn and convenient for those working in the area for lunch or grabbing groceries on the way home. - They offer free, 1-hour validated garage parking. - There’s a Starbucks inside that often has a much shorter line than the other two in Rosslyn. - Solid wine and beer selection at decent prices. - With the renovation they’ve added self checkout kiosks (finally, welcome to 2020), a hot-bar area, better baked goods selection, better fish and meat market, "FreshPet" refrigerated, natural meat and veggie pet food kiosk. Across the board, they've increased the number of items available and their quality. - SunTrust ATM, Locksmith in a Box Key Copy machine, Coinstar machine - The staff is also generally pleasant (Gary is an absolute saint) and they’re open until 11:00 (one hour later than any other store in the area). Prior to the renovation, this was barely a functional store. I previously lived near the Georgetown/Wisconsin Ave. Safeway as a student and it’s brand new in a great location with plenty of parking and a wide selection of high quality items. Living in Rosslyn, even when this Safeway was the closest grocery store, I would often avoid it because it was dirty and their stock was hit or miss. Since the renovation, it’s gone from non-functional to sufficient. They’ve gotten a lot better with their stock of overall items, including fresh produce. Their pricing is still a bit on the high side (especially for fruits/vegetables) for what you’re getting. Not quite as expensive as Whole Foods but significantly more expensive than TJ's or Giant. Need to add more carts, especially the smaller, half-sized ones. If it’s late and I need a few quick things, I’ll head to Safeway. If I have the time and am more thoughtful about my shopping and what I’ll be cooking for the week, I’ll head up to Trader Joe’s.

Helen Mengesha: I like Safeway for the good items but the workers need some ethical training as they are so rude to actual paying customers. Also there are beggars outside this location that are scam artists that Safeway allows them to be there.

李 (LI)展謀 (Jan-Mou): It was a compacted store but having everything I, as a visitor, needed. Good variety of store-made donuts and a nice cashier were more impressive.

Ann A: This Safeway is smaller then the others. Seems to not have a lot of things like the others. But because its down the street (5min walk) I go here for the basic necessity.
Response: Hi Ann! Thanks so very much for your honest review of your local Safeway. Your concerns have been shared with the appropriate teams for further review. If you require further assistance, please reach out to us on our Contact US page or on our site using the questions bubble on the lower right-hand side. Thanks again and we hope you have a beautiful Sunday.

Anel Adilbayeva: I live close to this Safeway in Rosslyn. I like doing grocery there but the only reason I don’t want to go there for grocery it’s their staff. Their workers are very rude and not friendly and welcoming.especially two ladies that work there. They need some ethical attitude
Response: Hello Anel, we apologize for this uncomfortable situation and are thankful for your review. Please know that Leadership has been made aware of your feedback regarding multiple employees' behavior for further review and action. Please don't hesitate to chat with us through our Contact Us page on our website with any additional details and to be personally contacted.

Dave Galpern: Recently remodeled, there is now more selections of grocery, produce, bakery and deli, with everything new! Even a new bakery and deli were put in!Bathrooms were even remodeled. Checkout lines much improved with self checkout, no more waiting in long lines!

Kayse Purks: I am the type that rarely goes but when I do I go big. I love the fresh produce, the Strawberries this winter were the most beautiful ones I’ve ever seen, and was a little sad that once summer hit the picture perfect strawberries had seemed to be replaced with well ones that were a little sad looking but even so still good because they get depleted rather quickly. Also it’s often painful to see many items completely gone and remain so for quite some time like oddly enough my favorite snack chocolate coated rice cakes. I’ve also noticed some items that are not even sold at this store all together which can be a bummer like, peanut butter Cheerios, cake in a mug, and molasses soft cookies :(. Other than that I like the convenience of many locations, fresh foods, cleanliness, and Im always delighted to see my savings at the end through there rewards program and weekly deals! I would also add that almost all employees are efficient, helpful, friendly, and that I rarely ever wait in long lines or have to to be at check out for long. I am amazed with how knowledgeable, organized and quick the cashiers are and I am never treated as a inconvenience like some other store employees have acted towards me, it’s even refreshing to occasionally we asked how I am and if I found everything ok. It’s safe to say I’m a loyal and long term Safeway shopper. I would recommend Safeway as a great place to shop!

Sam: Constructive feedback: The rotisserie chicken is sometimes undercooked at the thickest part of the breast. Please cook the rotisserie chicken longer and/or hotter. Please check the thick part around the breast wing joint.

sanjiv kumar: Has improved over time. Looks neater and well stocked. Great deals.

The Way: [TRUCK DELIVERY]park at the dock —-> check-in at front —-> unloading —-> paperwork (so fast & flexible app, 30 min)

Ikea Hagans: I won’t be going back here at all I went to go buy groceries on nov11 here and my fruit was out dated I called and the produce manager told me to bring the fruit back and he will replace it. So fast forward it to yesterday 12/11/21 I went back here to buy $400 worth of food and I was rushing to get home to my baby I did not check what I needed to check. As I was putting my food away I noticed my spam has a small hole in the left-hand corner so I had opened the can to see what was going on and the meat was white and molded my lemons was green. I’m just irritated because I just had a talk with the manager last month and they act like they can’t talk to their employees to make sure we have fresh food. The line for the returns was long A man was returning his Frites and said this was his 4th time in one week returning food. They need to get it together or hire actual people who care about other people health! Or they need a new store manager. Because this is not cutting it
Response: Hey there, Ikea! We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you have experienced at our Oxon HIll location. We have shared your concerns with our Store Director for improvement. Our goal is to provide products of the freshest quality and a satisfactory shopping experience for all our customers. If you would like to be personally contacted to further express your concerns, please reach out to us through chat or our Contact Us page on our official website. Thank you for your feedback and have a great week!

Brad Kirbyson: Staff was friendly and helpful. Good selection and everything seemed fresh. My old safeway card from Canada worked here so i was able to get the members discounts automatically

Deitra Foster, PhD: My daughter wanted to celebrate my sister and I for Mother’s Day but the pretty pink and green cake ruined our special day because it tasted like dirty disgusting rubber band from SpongeBob Underwater restaurant. Very tasteless. Bakery rating should be a ZERO not a one star. It was terrible. I want a refund.
Response: Our sincere apologies for the quality of the cake, Deitra. Please chat with us on our website using the “Questions” bubble on the lower right-hand side or reach out on our Contact Us page, so we can obtain your contact information. We'd like to reach out personally to you for further resolution.

CARLA LAWSON: Everything thing I'd needed was there, plus if you have the app and the U personalized just for you works wonder. I've got a dozen of white eggs large for $2.06 regular time price $3.79 eggs ain't cheap no more. This was at the Oxon Hill Maryland location Rivertown location. Store was clean, plenty of carts and friendly staff.

Neil Neil: Oxon Hill Safeway is the Safeway of choice for me for over 42 years. A great place to shop. The employees are polite, helpful and always asking customers if they find what they were looking for.

Kiah Bennett: I mean it's Safeway.... I'll go more in depth the next time I go. I do wish there was a better flow to the store.

William McManus: Actually pretty good grocery were easy to find we had a watermelon ring up for 74 dollars lol but it got corrected

Valarie WILLIAMS: I just want to say I came into your store on 2.23.22 And I checked out with Miss Charlene She was great my day wasn't going too well and I was feeling really down and sad and going through her line she made me feel so much better and rest of my day was great....We need more people like Miss Charlene in the world ...I appreciate her bubbly personality. Thank you Ms. CHARLENE

Eric Browner: It's a grocery store so I am usually trying to get in and out. Prices are going up but that's everywhere. Customer service is pretty decent and stuff is good. Buy what you need and get out lol.

Safeway: what do users think?

T Smith: Easy access from Eastbound or Westbound Interstate 66. (Glebe Road and Falls Church/Fairfax Drive). Easy on or off, either direction... Perfect for those who live in the neighborhood as well as those in the suburbs travelling to or from the District. Well stocked and nice polite staff in a relatively safe neighborhood with a parking lot that one can actually get a place to park and exit efficiently. A favorite stop for me, and I suspect that you will like it too..! Enjoy..!

Willard Ramirez: I was so hungry and I looked up at the light and seen my favorite store, I thought that seeing so many cars in the lot that for sure they didn't have the steaks and fish I wanted, but they did, the workers were so nice and helpful. Thank you.

wayne snell: Very nice store with even better employees. A great place to do one stop shopping.

Mark Beavers: Overall it's okay. But the cashier was extremely bossy and rude. Definitely needs to learn some people skills!
Response: Hi there Mark. This is concerning to us, and we'd love to hear more about the experience you had. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us on our site or reach out to us through our Contact US page, so we can learn more about it. Hope to hear from you soon, have a great day!

Keith Cramer: There is no enforcement of one way lane markings inside the store. People either do not see or ignore them. In one case, yesterday, a young, male employee escorted a customer the wrong way up an aisle to assist with finding something. Good selection of fresh produce. I was able to find all of the esoteric ingredients for a special salsa I was making.

Jessica Lantz: Like this store, always have. Clean, they have a ton of choices and reasonable prices. They also have a decent selection of organic items! Definitely recommend.

J. P.: I really like this store! I visit late at night because there are so few shoppers then, and I have found the manager, clerks, stockers... EVERYBODY.... to be helpful and friendly. A big plus for me is the organic section, which was expanded after a recent remodeling.

Tom: I have been using drive-up and go quite a bit since covid started. In theory you order online pull up to a parking spot call a number and they bring out your order and it costs no more than shopping in the store and you receive the sale prices which is very different from using a grocery delivery service. Every time I do this at Safeway, I only receive about 3/4 of what I've ordered and the rest they mark as "out of stock". Things like tide laundry detergent Safeway frozen breakfast sandwiches and other common items. I have suspected that they just aren't properly looking for the items so today I went into the store to look for the six items that they said were out of stock and five of them not only were in stock but had lots on hand. When you do a grocery trip and you only get three quarters of what you needed because someone who's collecting the order for you is not properly looking for the items it's sort of defeats the purpose.

Stephen Harmon: This is my go to store, but I get frustrated by them only having four self-checkout lanes and so many manual checkout lanes that are never manned. Would appreciate converting more to self-checkout.

Marc Wolfe: Parking is so-so. Lines can be long or breathtakingly quick depending on the day/time. Good selection, decent layout. Unfortunately no rabbit or duck and offal is nonexistent. I have other sources for those. Butcher and seafood cases have a modest selection but everything is fresh/frozen and of good quality. The employees staffing those counters are friendly and helpful. If you live close by and want to stock up on good quality staples I recommend. If you're in the market for exotics try the Eden Center, New Grand off of 50

Safeway: what do users think?

Katrina Johnson: This Safeway is clean and abundant. I like the covered parking during inclement weather. A lot of what I purchase comes from the deli. The food there is fresh and the employees are professional. When I arrive in the morning, the workers put the fruit and vegetables on the stands. Everything is fresh. Aside from the price of food, that has gone through the roof in recent months (just about everywhere), I'm comfortable shopping at the Safeway in this location.

B. A. Kukuk: It's just a very nice huge clean Safeway with plenty of parking underneath so your car doesn't get wet or get snow on it. Excellent and friendly pharmacy. I got all my covid and flu and shingles shots there. They also have a Quest lab right in the store.

MAC Cover: Well, Safeway was my first grocery store love. Shopped there for years and years. Got to know the people who worked there, very friendly and accommodating. Safeway feels like home. I can always find my favorite foods there both American and international products. I also love their prepared food and deli😋

Jane DelVecchio: The lovely lady who helped me with my balloon purchase today (4/1) may have turned me into a regular Safeway shopper. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name but she was very helpful and fun to work with. She created a beautiful balloon ‘bouquet’ for my granddaughter’s birthday.

Meika Ungricht: This is my preferred grocery store in my neighborhood. Good selection, good quality, nice cheese case and produce. The service is excellent and the store is clean. Decent parking in a covered lot.

Peter Bradshaw: Very large Safeway with lots of parking. Store is clean and well stocked. When I went, registers had minimal lines and self checkout was open. As Safeways go in the area, I think this is the best I’ve been to.

LaKisha Johnson: Parking super excessible and one of the cleanest markets I have seen. Fresh produce and plenty of anything you need options. Very well stocked!

Sebrin Adem: As a local real estate agent, I work in tri- states: DC, Virginia, and Maryland. We have office near by and when I am in the area, I prefer to come here rather than another Safeway because it is very well organized, has a vast selection, and great customer service, as well as easy parking.

Bml Retired: I love this Safeway. The people are so nice and accommodating. No matter what my issue is they are always willing to help me.. They really do listen and help you. It's not the run of the mill employees that have the attitude of I just work here.Thank you so much Nicole and Jennifer. This is not the Safeway I grew up with almost 50 years ago.I was really impressed. I this store when I went to Minnie-ha-ha, and TC Williams. The people are very nice.I do have to comment on one real important thing out here. The Safeway brand toilet paper is really good.It is your equivalent to the Charmin.I have bought the one at Harris Teeter that is equivalent to the Charmin, however it has a lot of lint.So now you have lint all over your hands and go to wash your hands in the sink and you're filling your sink up with lint. Thus, a clogged sink later. It says our strongest to. How true. Some rip in the Middle of your business. Not looking for the old addage, "be a man and use your hand!". Lol!. Anyway, very nice store.

Jason myron Johnson: Safeway is getting there chicken from suppliers that leave feathers on the meat and cuts the Chicken improperly, leaving shards of bone throughout the meat
Response: Yikes, we are terribly sorry to hear this! Please allow us to get to the bottom of this to report this to the proper teams. Visit us on our official website to use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of our web page. We hope to hear from you soon. Until then, have a great Thursday!

Safeway: what do users think?

IRI LAN: When a customer is still unloading foods from a cart on a conveyor belt, a cashier must ensure it is stopped. It seems not all cashiers at this store understand this. I wish they were professional and polite. There is no rush required, especially after 9 pm. There were only 4 customers in the whole store, including only 2 customers at a cash register.
Response: Hi IRI, we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Rest assured that we will be sharing your concern with our Leadership Team for internal review. Claudia Dunne: Excellent service from the pharmacy! Michelle was very helpful today when I really needed help! I went to 3 super rude CVS locations before calling Safeway on Sangamore! I'm never going to a CVS pharmacy again. Safeway will be my default from now on! Thank you so much for being kind to customers, especially on the phone!

Charles Sprunt: My Safeway at Sumner off Sagamore road has slowly gotten worse and worse if it was not for a few LONGTIME employees I love like CRYSTAL I WOULD NOT darken their door I now drive to GIANT AT WESTBARD IN BETHESDA MD. Vernon Minor: Clean never too busy and fully stocked. There isn't too many grocery options in this area but this store is excellent every time

Eric Dombalagian: I love the 6 dollar sandwich deals in safeway. My favorite is the Italian cold cut. I can't wait to go back there again this friday

Justin Webster: Employees are always friendly, the store is clean and well organized, and the goods are always fresh. Plenty of parking on site.

Julio Avila: Awful service, the bakery display case was almost empty, donuts weren't fresh, I waited a long time at the deli there was only 1 person working, and she was overwhelmed. The place is understaffed.
Response: Hello Julio, we are sorry to hear our bakery missed the mark for you. Your experience is important to us, and we will be sharing your concerns with our Bethesda Leadership team for review, so we can improve our service. Tom Buckles: Have a good selection, though the ice cream could be a larger selection.

Sol Rivera: Went in today to get some fresh veggies for the super bowl; the produce section looks amazing! Better than before, saw they had a new produce manager. She was so helpful, seems like shes the one responsible for the new makeover !

Jennifer Lee: Over the past 4 years this Safeway store has become a premier store. They borrowed the bakery personnel from the Georgetown store on Wisconsin avenue and everything is wonderful there now of course with the pandemic there are shortages and certain items but overall it is well stocked it is clean and the personnel is wonderful.

Safeway: what do users think?

Lope F: Just want to say there's a new cashier working there and she's one of the nicest person I've ever met. Always seems to be I a really friendly mood. Very good customer service skills. I think her name may be Rachel if I'm not mistaken. She really brighten may day when I come there. When ever I go there and she's working I'll make it my business to get in her line. You guys need more people like her, she's a real asset to your company.

Beverly Jones-Gibson: Received expedite and friendly service from the gentleman at the deli. Some areas of the store seemed well stocked, while others needed restocking, however, was being restocked while I was there. My check out experience was pleasant. It was extremely crowded.

Rose Schaum: In a place within confined land, everything is historic or a difficult drive .this is amazing! Very convenient on all levels and the parking garage is awesome. I had to drive through tourist and was a little thrown but it was worth it. GPS got me there just fine.

Chen Miller: I came to this store specifically for a tuna sandwich because it's something the I have purchased several times at other stores. It didn't take long for me to find out that they didn't have any tuna sandwiches available, and the only sandwiches that so saw were roast beef and chicken salad. So zi asked one of the nice ladies behind the deli counter if they could prepare his for me. I was told that it wouldn't be a problem, but it could take a few minutes. I also requested that this be made without onions, and that wasn't a problem for hem either. So while she was preparing my sandwich, I took a little walk around to ty to locate Arizona ice tea? It took a little bit of searching but I finally found it in one of her coolers. I rented back to the deli, and my sandwich was ready for me. I was happy that they made the extra effort to do this. Kudos to the two ladies working I he deli!

Michelle Muir Shalaby: This morning I went to the bakery to ask about birthday cakes. Lisa spoke with me and was so incredibly helpful and kind. I asked her about the different cakes, found 1 that I thought would work. I then I walked to the cake sold by the slice area, and asked which of those cakes would taste the same as the cake I choose. Lisa quickly realized she didn't have one out that would be the same, she excused herself and went in the back. She came back with a small slice of cake and some icing for a sample. Her effort really impressed me especially because the bread was just coming out of the oven and I was worried I was holding her from handing that task. Employees like this, that go the extra step to get a client are so valuable!

Helen Michie: In August 2021, I had a successful shopping trip at the Rosehill Safeway early Saturday morning. The check out clerk asked the baking clerk to assist me in taking my groceries to my car. I have been going to this Safeway since 1979. Recently it has been reorganized. Displays are very attractive and it is easy to find what you want. The reason I give this Safeway 5 stars are the very helpful staff who have assisted me in many ways. When I had a broken arm, they always made sure that an assistant helped me to my car and loaded the groceries for me. Also, this Safeway hires and keeps on staff people with disabilities. They don't just raise money for people with disabilities but they actually employ them. Good job Rose Hill Safeway!

Christopher Laws: Great food store with a good quality selection of produce. Low prices compared to other stores like it in the area. Always ample parking. A plus considering the area that it's in. Definitely make it on your list of places to shop in the area. Staff are also friendly and willing to help you out. Location is also convenient.

Jon Elle: Always clean and well lit. They do not always have enough staff so there can sometimes be a wait. The lines for self check out have average wait times.

Michelle Durham: Very clean store. Staff very pleasant. Prices were a tad high but did have a large selection.

David W.: This clean store is centrally located on Van Dorn St., with ample parking. Unfortunately it was out of its delicious pecan pie the day I shopped, due to supply chain issues. I'll return for another visit.

Safeway: what do users think?

Tomas tomo1478: I have literally never even thought I would write a review for a grocery store before but Joyce, a cashier that works here, easily deserves every star in this rating, and is the entire reason behind me writing this. She's one of the sweetest people I've ever met and I've never laughed so much checking out of a grocery store before. She put a smile on both me and my girlfriend's face as we left and provided excellent service. She deserves her pay to be doubled! Also the store is very clean as other reviews have said.

C Hamilton: I love this place my new grocery store clean place friendly and helpful staff I found everything fresh and of great quality people is always on the floor repacking and keeping everything intact. I love the botanical area

Nicholas Makinster: Online ordering with curbside pickup at this Safeway is unreliable and overall they're understaffed. Yesterday I placed an order online for curbside pickup at 6pm. I've previously used Giant curbside pickup and know that during the week pickups can sometimes run to the later portion of the timeslot, so I grabbed some food nearby while waiting. At 6:50 I received a text that my order was delayed, with no estimate of when it would be ready. After finishing my food and waiting in my car until 7:30 I called the store to see if there was an estimate of when it would be ready for pickup. After calling back twice and waiting on hold for 10 minutes someone answered and offered to check on my order; a few minutes later another employee answered the phone and said that the staff who did online ordering had left for the day and I wouldn't be able to get my food but could come back tomorrow. When I asked to cancel my order, they said they were too busy to cancel the order now but I could call back later. I tried calling the corporate number for online ordering to cancel my order, and after waiting 25 minutes gave up. At 8:30 I received a text saying that my order would be unavailable for pickup that day and I could either reschedule or do nothing and be refunded. The one star is because I ordered food, but without my calling the store I wouldn't have known until 2.5 hours after my pickup time that the order had no chance of being ready that day because of staffing issues. The second star is because at least the refund process was automatic and straightforward, though I do have a $160 hold sitting on my credit card until they decide to process the cancellation. Overall, hire more staff so you're not failing to provide your services! If you can't hire more staff, then increase the pay for the roles until people apply. I have incredible sympathy for the employees stuck working, having to field angry phone calls because orders were placed online with no concern for whether or not there was actually enough staffing to carry them out. I've never had an issue like this at Giant, and will go back to using them for my online ordering and curbside pickup.

Furhat Ahmed: This store is always clean and stocked well. They have great sales and the parking lot is easy to get in and out of. I recommend this grocery store to everyone

Haley Grooms Kohnert: I shop here all the time but this 5 star review is specifically for the guy in the meat department who went out of his way to help me today. He cut up a beef tenderloin into steaks for me and helped me with a few other purchases. Thank you so much!! You rock!

Elizabeth McGaffey: They had distilled water when no one else did--noy drugstores nor upscale good stores. This is a vital supply for all of us who use CPAPs to help us breathe.

Aja Becker: Joyce is the sweetest cashier ever, brightened my day! Give her a raise!

Kristen Alger: Great selection! Grabbed a few items for a wonderful picnic in the park on a beautiful day!

Vinicius Espindola: It is an excellent grocery store, but I think this facility needs more Asian products.
