Erica Roth: We absolutely love our Boston terrier puppy, Pablo. Alvin and Emma were incredibly professional, honest, and responsive at all times. Pablo has a wonderful, friendly personality an easy-going disposition. We would highly recommend Howling Hills Kennels. It was an all around great experience!
Bruce K. Main: We rescue dogs and have been for a long time. Howling Hills is a respectable breeder and we would buy again but we would rather take on rescue dogs. In the past, before we rescued we purchased one female Pug from Howling Hills Kennels who was well adjusted and has always been well cared for and always very happy and healthy. She helped us rescue other dogs helping to care for all of them. She remains healthy recently turned 10 in late 2019. Before our first pug turned 2 we came to be aware of a very sad and developing situation arising from a decision from Howling Hills Kennels. A baby pug who was the runt of the litter was set to be auctioned within days in a local Church auction. We believe they intended to do good. After all who would bid for a dog they didn't want right? Plenty of bed people do. It may have been a well intended decision but a bad decision. We bought and paid full price for our little auction puppy. He remains happy and healthy and well adjusted today and is 9 years old. Howling Hills Kennel seems to care well for their dogs and if we were going to buy a puppy they would be our 1st place of choice. Nothing I have seen or heard about Howling Hills would discourage us from buying again. They are not a puppy mill and if you actually saw a puppy mill the difference is obvious. We hope Howling Hills continues to breed dogs with professionalism, dedication, and love to the profession and especially to all the dogs in their care, regardless if newborn puppy or adult breeding dogs retired or working sick or healthy.
G S: Our Lilly is 6 years and she is a perfect addition to our house. No problems. HHK is much better than other kennels we have looked at in the past. Would recommend if you are looking for a pug.

Pony Tails Dog Kennel: what do users think?
Theresa Green: I only have good things to say about Pony Tails Kennel! We brought our Boston Terrier pup home last week and we couldn't be happier. The process for purchase was seamless - Lisa responded to each inquiry within 24 hours, she gave us prompt instructions for the deposit, and then we immediately scheduled a pick up appointment. During the appointment, Lisa was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. She had all of the medical paperwork ready and was happy to answer any questions. She even sent us home with a care package including a doggy bed, snacks, food, and toys. Our boy Otto was a little nervous at first, but he is now a playful, goofy boy who loves to cuddle, and although we are awaiting our first physical he seems to be in perfect health. Thanks again, Lisa!
Nicolette Reneau: We got our beautiful Ruby back in December, she is now 12 weeks and super playful and healthy. The process of getting her was easy as we followed the instructions on the website. When my dogs were experiencing horrible allergies in Virginia, she introduced me to Farmina’s Skin & Coat (venison & quinoa) which allowed them to get off ALL allergy meds & shots! In order to continue this life-changing diet in a place without the availability of this food, she now orders it for us & my husband or I pick it up when we are down in the area. K.C. Donnelly: Writing my first review to just say that this location, with its wonderful staff and compassionate groomers, has been a gem for this neighborhood for the past 3 years! We took our dog Charlie here for grooming until he passed away (after which they mailed us a sympathy card) last year. I'd like to think their care of him (ranging from recommendations for treats and wet food for his waning appetite to his regular nail trims) really made his last few months better than I could have ever done alone. Our newest (pandemic) puppy will also be a regular visitor as I know she will be in great hands! We love you Loyal Companion! Don't stop being amazing!

J. P.: The staff always tries to be helpful. I subtracted a star because as a cat owner, I'd prefer that the staff be more familiar with the cat foods they sell. If you're a cat-person I'd recommend the Leesburg Pike store over this one.

Andrew Hickman: We took our 6-8 month old puppy there twice, the first time the haircut was good, but the staff was very rude and inquisitive about how much we were feeding him, what type of brush to use, to get him groomed every 4 weeks (despite early on COVID timing) , and to never cut him ourselves. Our dog is amazing and never got anything close to this feedback from anyone. The second time we came back hoping not to get into any more debates over dog health/training and again were told we weren’t feeding him enough (we are feeding him 50% more than the vet recommends), to use a different brush immediately, etc etc. We showed them a picture we liked of the first visit and the groomer was shocked they did that and said we need to do something different this time and ended up cutting him much shorter than we discussed. Despite the convenient location, it’s not worth to be ridiculed for things that are inconsistent with vet opinions, etc.
Chandler Wilson: I came here to try and find a dry food for my very picky, very food-sensitive cat, and while the food I bought ended up triggering an allergic reaction for my girl (which was NOT the fault of anyone at the store!), the employees were fantastic and super helpful. I really do recommend this store to anyone who has questions about specific dietary needs, the employee I spoke with helped me pick out a food based off the needs of my cat and my budget- it may not have worked out, but she spent much more time than she had to trying to help me find something that would work. They also told me that if my cat had a reaction to the food, and the bag was still half-full, I could get a full refund on it. The customer service here is incredible and I definitely recommend them to anyone in the area.

Jessica Bates: We had a great experience with Pugs by T&N. We could tell right away that the pups were so well cared for and loved prior to us being able to take our boy home. We got to meet our pup when he was about 5 weeks old and were sent plenty of pictures and videos of him and the litter up until we were able to pick him up. We also were given a toy, blanket, bag of food, a bowl, and a folder with his medical records and other pug puppy info. We would definitely recommend if you are looking for a caring, responsible, and organized pug breeder!
karen pollock: I can not say enough wonderful things about Pugs by T and N..This was our first experience getting a dog from a breeder and they made the experience a wonderful one.. We were notified when the puppies were born and then when they were two weeks old we were sent pictures.And we picked our girl right away.We were able to meet our girl at 4 weeks and put a deposit down.And from then until we picked her up at 8 weeks they sent us pictures and videos of our girl.. When we picked her up they even gave us a baby blanket and toy with the scent of the liter and the mom and dad of the liter on it to make it an easier transition for our sweet girl.As well as a bag of food and food bowl..We highly recommend them as a breeder..They really took great care of our girl until we brought her home💜

Natalie McCann: I volunteer here on occasion and it's always a good experience. These people are passionate about saving dogs from high kill shelters and are great at what they do! I also recommend volunteering with them since it's pretty flexible and easy to sign up & get trained. They need dog handlers every Saturday during their 2 hour adoption events!
Jess Kirchner: We got our dog from them 4 years ago. I should have written this review then, but was preoccupied with our new dog. When we got her she was morbidly obese, which wasn't their fault at all. I don't think they had her for long and she came to them like that. However, she had other issues that absolutely should have been caught and addressed before she was adopted. Her teeth were wrecked and she had to get 12 teeth pulled. She had yeast infections on her skin and in her ears. All of this was caught during our first vet visit so I'm not sure why they didn't catch it, unless she wasn't checked out before she was adopted. We were also told she was spayed, but then found out that wasn't accurate. We were told the vet "assumed" she had been spayed due to her age, and yet Rural Dog Rescue told us, as if it were fact, that she was. Once it was discovered she wasn't (and I think they only looked into it because we had concerns she was pregnant), Rural Dog Rescue would only pay to have the surgery covered if we let them take our dog to their preferred vet, which was NOWHERE near our house. They offered to pick her up and take her there, which was nice, but still inconvenient. When they picked her up, the woman actually lectured me about our dog's weight. We'd only had her for a short while and she'd already lost weight. This woman was acting like it was our fault our dog was chunky. Then when she brought our dog back, she lectured me again for not warning her that our dog wasn't cat friendly, even though THEY were the ones who told US she wasn't cat friendly. She'd never been around a cat with us before. I'm hoping they've gotten better in the past 4 years, but I have to say, from my experience I'm not impressed. I LOVE our dog, but I have to wonder if other dogs they're adopting out aren't actually spayed or have health problems they haven't addressed.
Response: Hi Jess. I’m disappointed and saddened to see you give our rescue a one star review 4 years after adopting a dog from us. I went through all of our emails about the spay issue and explained that we pulled this dog from a shelter we didn’t usually pull from who used their own vet and I told you in the email that we had a bad experience with them and we wouldn’t be using them again. If a vet tells me a dog has already been spayed I don’t usually question it. I’m assuming in good faith that since they are a professional, then they know what they are doing. I made arrangements to pick her up, keep her at my house and take her to her spay appointment. I did my best to resolve the issue. I saw the email that i sent you asking where she slept and what her routine was so that I could make her comfortable at my house and I told you “she was doing fine except for terrorizing my cats - lol”. I have hundreds of foster dogs come and go in my house, some like cats and some don’t. I think you misunderstood the jest of the comment. If you perceived my advice about her weight as a lecture, I apologize. The vet talked to me about it since she had issues with anesthesia due to her weight. I know what she weighed when she arrived and she was overweight then. We are all volunteers and spend so much of our time dedicated to saving the lives of unwanted dogs. We have strict medical protocols in place with our partner vets and shelters and haven’t had this happen again. Our shelter partners rely on us as there are few other options to save these dogs so i hope your review doesn’t discourage others from adopting.
Steven Wilson: Sent email over a week ago & left 2 voice mails Concerning a dog that I saw and wanted to adopt! Had a few questions but no communication! Oh Well! I’ve never owned a pure bred thank goodness I have other rescues that actually want to help dogs!

Naomi Philhower '19: I have volunteered here on and off for the past 8 months and am truly impressed with the organization. They help save many at risk dogs from high-kill shelters and provide them with safe caring foster homes until they are adopted. The adoption events are always well handled to ensure the safety of both dogs and volunteers. I am looking forward to volunteering here again after the Covid-19 pandemic. In the future if I am able to adopt this would be the first organization I would look at for a pet, and I would highly recommend them to any individuals in DC, MD, or VA looking to adopt!
Kelsey Blend: This rescue is one of the best around. When they pull dogs from high kill shelters they don’t cherry pick like the majority of rescues do. The dogs are immediately vetted and evaluated for their needs. They are then treated for a wide range of issues including (but not limited to) heartworms, broken bones, ear infections, tick borne diseases, and skin infections. They are vaccinated, spayed and neutered, and started on heartworm and flea medication as well as given dentals and mass removal as needed. The rescue is foster based, giving these dogs experience in a home (potty training, basic commands), some of which have never seen until they have been given a second chance at living! If your looking for a dog that needs a loving home that hasn’t had the best life, Rural Dog does a excellent job of starting these dogs off on the right path of a healthy life.
Christine Roxborough: I adopted a wonderful dog 2 years ago from this rescue. They are wonderful people who devote their time and money to saving the dogs that are most likely to be euthanized. Their devotion and commitment to "the underdog" is inspiring and makes me want to do more to save the abused and neglected animals whose stories are heartwrenching. If I adopt another dog in the future, I will do it from them!

My Next Puppy: what do users think?
Madison Harris: My boyfriend and I adopted a Siberian husky from this store - best and worst decision of our lives. She is amazing, well behaved and semi-playful (you’ll see why only semi-playful) But they gave us a sick dog. Within 4 days of bringing her home, as suggested I was looking for a vet, I was told she needed to immediately be seen by an emergency vet because of how sick she was. I read the contracts, had them explain several times the policies for their vet visit financial coverage, but within 4 days of having our puppy she was diagnosed with pneumonia through blood work and X-rays (which were necessary for the diagnosis), put on 3 medications, and has to get X-rays redone as well as at least one more week of the two antibiotics she’s on. Despite all their talk of great health coverage and warranties, for vet costs of over $1,000 for her initial treatment and medication they offered me a $60.26 reimbursement. WITHOUT the continued cost from her upcoming vet visit to make sure she’s recovering. I also now doubt that my puppy actually saw a vet upon her arrival at the store like I was told. For a vet to miss something like this is something huge, with the advancement of her illness and the fact that she was sick immediately after bringing her home where there was no contact with any other dogs from our end, there’s no way she didn’t have it before leaving the store where I was told she’d only been a couple days. I live over an hour away so driving all the way back to go to “the vet of their choice” when I’m told my puppy is in serious condition would be irresponsible as an owner. That time could make or break her recovery depending on what she’d had. We made this decision because the company seemed reliable and like they actually cared about both the puppy’s and their customers. Edit: in response to what was replied by the store. What I said to you in your email is that what was discussed in store did not follow what the contract states and when I asked about it the girl told me it was the vet visit in its entirety. BUT I would accept that if it was an illness my puppy picked up elsewhere. Pneumonia doesn’t spawn overnight, she was already sick when we took her home with us and that is why I’m frustrated by the clear lack of empathy your company seems to direct at your puppies and customers.

Karyssa Glenn: Hey, I adopted Seneca the labradoodle/Chesadoodle Sunday 1/30/22. UPDATE: she is doing amazing! She is very sweet and loving and also found her voice. Still working on potty training. But she is a very happy pup. Seneca now named Izzy has a story that shows her misunderstood loyalty as mans best friend. Katie G. Fiorini: It broke our heart to leave behind a sweet mini Shepadoodle. our one-hour experience inside My Next Puppy was close to traumatizing. I knew from the moment we were “greeted” by a young girl (not sharing her name as a courtesy) at the front door something was off - not a very friendly welcome, and frankly she had a bit of an attitude. As shared in multiple other reviews, prices are not shared until you have spent time in the “cuddle cube” with the puppy for a period of time… $10,400 (including the 6% sales tax.) was the total cost to bring this 3 month old puppy home with us. The entire experience was very “salesy.” The girl talking to us had clearly had general training on how to answer common objections and questions but seemed irritated with our questions and hesitation to move forward with the paperwork. maybe we would have had a better experience with another employee… they have a policy where you have to remain seated in the “cuddle cube” I don’t remember the reason. Maybe to not disturb the other dogs? I’ve seen in other reviews it was Covid protocols? I’ve also seen reviews that remaining seated limits your view of the glass “cages” lined up and down each side of the facility. Who knows. I can’t believe we actually considered putting the total amount on a credit card so we could walk out and just take the dog out of the facility and give it the good life we know we could give it. We finally decided against it because we knew in our hearts we couldn’t live with the fact that we helped fund this kind of business. After getting home and reading the pages and pages of reviews we know we made the right decision, however we are heart broken. I’m curious how the business will reply to my review …

Our puppies are priced based on many different factors such as breed, pedigree, coloring, size, etc. All of our puppies come with extensive health warranties and lots of extras including a LIFETIME genetic and hereditary warranty to make sure that your puppy is taken care of for the entire time you have them. Anon: This place would not tell me how much their puppies were over the phone before my visit. Since it was almost an hour away from me, I would have benefited from this information before the drive and wasting my time. I came in to see a Pomeranian ready to adopt him that day and buy him in full. However, the prices for not only a Pomeranian but all of their puppies were completely absurd. As a previous owner of a Pomeranian, I would say that the average price for a Pom is $2000-$4500. This place wanted $8,000 for a puppy which doesn’t even sound real. That is absurd…. They claim it’s because it comes with a package deal of surgery if the animal needs it , first trip to vet covered, ect. It isn’t an option to get this package, it is already included in the price. It is definitely not worth it. These poor puppies fate are determined because of this places overpriced money hungry prices. Also, although they offer payment plans it still is absurd to pay that price for a puppy. My heart sank when I heard that the corgis were $9,500. I will definitely try my best to have this place investigated for their practices, because from their prices alone I can tell they do not treat their puppies well. Their intentions are to make money off these innocent animals and not care for them in their small and crowded glass cages. RESPONSE And as to your response, that is bullsh*t. I have had purebred designer dogs my whole life and have never seen prices like yours. The lifetime package is comeptlley unnecessary. Pet insurance is only $20-30 a month. And your health plan is awful, I was in disbelief that you could fool people into buying it while I was at the store. All puppies find a family? The Pomeranian I saw was already 4 months old. That is because of your high prices and stupid “health plan” . It is unusual to see puppies that old in this type of place. You are in it for the money and don’t treat your animals well, overstuffed into glass cages and smell like urine. I ended up adopting from premier pups and could not be happier. They delivered him to me. Very reasonable prices and my puppy is amazing and healthy. They are also breeders who care. Unlike this establishment

First puppy me and my fiance have had together and she's so sweet and it feels good to know they will take care of her even after we got her. Rick: I drove from Rockville MD, and the weather was great. Although it was a 45 minute drive, upon arriving to MyNextPuppy we had the rules explained and were viewing puppies by our appointment time at 4pm. Darren and staff were very accomodating and helpful when it came to our questions about selecting the perfect dog to match my personality. We stayed for about 2 hours and I am taking home a dog that I match with perfectly. I certainly will return if I have any questions, or want to adopt again.

kiran kaur: Do NOT cut me off when I am speaking and asking well thought out questions about a life long commitment. LEARN SOME MANNERS. Today, I called to inquire about the processes to buy a puppy and was spoken to by someone who was very abrupt, rude and cut me off repeatedly. She was very contradictory in terms of what the processes are (only come in to buy a puppy, not to look. You can also look, but not buy) and she pretty much told me she would not deal with me unless I was ready to make a transaction. Let me be clear, purchasing a puppy is not like purchasing a bag of potatoes and if I have questions I should have the opportunity to discuss and consult. Extremely disappointed and concerned for the welfare of the puppies if this is the type of transactional basis we are dealing with. I have emailed the company to see if there is someone more helpful that I can talk to, I will update this review if I get a positive outcome. Also, don’t ever cut me off when I am speaking and asking well thought out questions. UPDATE: after reading all the Yelp reviews I am no longer associating myself with this outrageous company. Seems like this place has quite a reputation.

Jacob: This place used to be great. Not any more. I called them today hoping to schedule an appointment. The lady on the other end made me feel super unwelcome. She asked me if I have already picked a puppy online and I want to "come get it today". I explained that's not the case. Since we are in the early stage of getting a dog for my family. To my surprise, out of all the things she could say, she responded with: "Well, you are not coming to play with a puppy here. Bye" This crushed my mood. It just came out so rude. This place used to be good. You were able to just walk-in, see the puppies, play with one of them and talk to the the staff. They'd provide valuable information about the adoption process and dog ownership. For a first time dog owner this was great. I can't believe they don't want to see me any more unless I bring my money in my pocket and promise them buying a dog same day. A car dealership would treat you with more respect. Please don't get a breed dog here. Go to a shelter and save a dog which needs you. Don't support an unethical business which makes money of breeding dogs and taking them away from their moms at early age for profit. Never coming back. I'll go to a shelter next time as well.

Dogtopia: what do users think?
Dell: Dogtopia has the responsibility to notify their customers of any changes to the facility. I learned 1-23-22 that the outdoor area has been closed for several weeks and has no estimated plan of completion. To date customers are not aware of this information. Some might feel comfortable with their pet having no other choice but to deficate and urinate in the playroom and also stay indoors the entire day. I am not! I purchase packages for the benefit of my pet being taken Outside every few hours. I am truly disappointed that I was not informed. The dogtopia staff are great! Management needs improvement.
V Wallace: Be cautious about sending your dog here. Just know that dog owners do not accurately report when their dog has kennel cough and Dogtopia will deny that it came from their facility. I was guilty of it myself. I thought it simply was the price of bringing your dog to a kennel. I have one dog. He does not go to any other facility. Doesn't even go inside a pet store. I brought him to Dogtopia for a few days a week. He got a respiratory infection. Vet visit was $500 plus a ton of antibiotics. No problem, could have gotten it from anywhere. Didn't stress. Over three weeks later we return for one day. A Tuesday. He stayed home the rest of the week. By Friday he was hacking uncontrollably. I take him to the emergency vet just walking distance from Dogtopia. They tell me it's kennel cough and proceed to explain how they've seen an increase of KC from locals bringing their pets to the kennel. $300. I return to Dogtopia over two weeks later and explain what happened. Didn't want compensation, just wanted to share that my dog got kennel cough from their facility and if they were notified by other owners. I was told that they werent notified by anyone but "most of our dog owners would tell us". Btw, since YOU told us, you can't come back until your dog returns to the vet and gets cleared. It all makes sense. Dog owners will not disclose that information for fear they will have to spend another $70 just so a vet can look at their dog and confirm that thet are cleared of kennel cough before they can return. So...if you wanna risk your dog getting sick regularly and paying a ton of vet bills, go for it. But no worries, if you return and keep it to yourself, you're good to go!
Jarret Kuhfahl: Visited many doggie day care facilities in the area and easily chose Dogtopia of Alexandria. Super clean facilities, not overly crowded, dog size segregation is spot on, spa facilities and service on premise. Everyone who works there is a true and true dog lover and I feel like my guy is always being well taken care of. They do have an outdoor run, the live stream web cams always work, and of course there is always an attendant in each room to quickly clean up any "doggie messes" and keep the pack in good play and monitoring any signs of rough or aggressive behavior. Moose gives it two paws up!
Keaira Wortham: If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. My dog was ATTACKED twice within one week, the second time resulting in a visit to the vet followed by medication to heal the bite (which after calling and my 2 months later, they finally paid the vet bill). The manager had a nonchalant attitude about the whole thing and the staff. they kept telling me " It wasn't that bad". If you have a larger dog they just place them in a room, there are NO toys nothing for the dogs to play with. They are constantly crating dogs and leaving them for long periods of time. THIS PLACE IS A DUMP. Please reconsider another daycare for your fur baby. There are plenty of local daycares that have play groups, stimulating activities, tons of toys, and that rotate play groups throughout the day. I even had a front desk staff tell me he wouldn't connect me to the manager if I didn't tell him my pets name and told me "Well I guess you'll only speak with the manager if you come up here" Trust me, the discounted rate is for a reason. This facility lacks professionalism, do not let the fake welcoming voices fool you. Lastly, they do not have a limit on how many dogs come in daily which is likely the cause of so many dogs being attacked (as you will see below) and on top of that they only have ONE attendant for about 20-30 plus dogs. I would not recommend this place even if it were free.
Ashley Norton: Upon arrival for our Meet & Greet, it was very obvious they were extremely understaffed and overwhelmed. We scheduled our dogs to be boarded for 3 nights while we were in the area for a family event. They misread my dog’s records, which were fully up to date, and tried to schedule a vet appointment for them before me giving them permission. They also called me twice the first night saying that my dogs couldn’t stay there and needed to be picked up within 15 minutes. But it was their mistake again, and the staff didn’t realize they were there to be boarded, even though we scheduled the stay many days ahead. Their webcams were down the majority of the time, but while it was on it was extremely hectic in the dog room. I don’t understand how they think 1 trainer to 30 dogs is acceptable... it was a mad house clearly not under control. The staff did not acknowledge nor apologize for the inconveniences. The entire stay with Dogtopia and their staff was very unprofessional and disappointing. I will not recommend this place to anyone.
Hannah Schaefer: My dog loves coming to Dogtopia. Facilities are clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. Love that they have dog cameras you can access and watch your pet throughout the day. You can even send treats / snacks for your dog during their "crate time" from 12-2pm. Will do an assessment of all pups before allowing them to attend daycare to ensure it is a safe place for all. Overall would recommend this place and trust them for my very spoiled pup!
Michelle A: Not planning on bringing my dog here again, even though I have 2 free daycare sessions with them. My dog came home with a cut across her face, and scratch marks all over her underbelly. This location really needs additional staff. I monitored the webcams for the majority of the day, and I only saw one employee per playroom; each playroom had more than 10 dogs in it. There is absolutely no way they can watch the dogs attentively with everything else they have to do. The webcams constantly lag, but it's helpful to see what is happening. My dog is a female, so other dogs try to mount her (I understand that is typical dog behavior), but when she is being weighed down by multiple dogs at one time, I expect the staff to step in and separate them. I watched this happen multiple times on the webcam, and the employee didn't do anything about it. I got fed up and called this location to ask if she could be moved to.a different room. They said she could not because she didn't meet the weight requirements, but they would connect with the staff in the room to make them aware of the issue. Even after that, not much changed. I won't recommend this place to anyone looking for daycare services for their pet.
Samuel Byun: Marla, the General Manager, gave some thoughtful tips after the Meet&Greet. Ray, Connie, and Hailey do their bests so that Cola feels welcome. She has a blast whenever she goes there. Dogs are said to be undercover therapists, but even therapists need some downtime with their other furry friends... Highly recommend Dogtopia for their Woofffbulousness ( Woof + fabulous.)
Bernadette Grafton: Our dog Ellie LOVES Dogtopia!!! She cannot contain her excitement whenever we take her for daycare. It's like we don't even exist - bye mom and dad!!! She seems to have a blast running around and playing with all the other dogs when she's there. I also appreciate that there's down time for the pups. The staff at Dogtopia really do take great care of the dogs and we are so thankful to have such a wonderful place for Ellie to go to run out all of her energy once or twice a week.
Morgan Stoner: Critical: Quality, ReliabilityWe had taken our pup here a few days for daycare and boarding and each time he came back he contracted kennel cough due to having 20-30 dogs in a single room with no outdoor time during his stay. We will not be taking him to this location again!

Rivermist Pet Lodge: what do users think?
Kathryn McCarthy: Rivermist takes wonderful care of our sensitive English Bulldog. She gets one on one attention, they are able to give her medication if needed, and keep us apprised on how she is doing. She comes home clean, healthy and happy. We are very comfortable with the care our dog receives at Rivermist and would recommend their services to others.
david brooke: They are very nice employees. If you bring your own food for your pet don't just give it to them without labeling it or give more than enough for the day. They have many animals to attend to and this makes things more complicated. My puppy got kennel cough from their facility last week and they wouldn't let him in until he was checked out or better. He definitely got it there because my American bully isn't around any other pets. Just a thought. Awesome staff for sure. I will take my puppy back!

Ann Segura: What a clean, well-run, and beautiful day and boarding program for dogs and cats! The staff is professional and well-trained. My somewhat timid dog was happy to greet her handler, seemed to love all the activities, and was carefully evaluated to see which group of play activities would best suit her. In addition, the location is in the beautiful, rolling countryside of Montgomery County which even allows options for nature hikes for your dog!! Personally, I feel confident in having my dog spend her day at Rivermist. My normally active young dog came home relaxed, happy, and ready for a good night’s sleep!
Rebeca Coronado: I love bringing Jerry (cat) here. He is well taken care of and I even get a cute picture update while I'm traveling. I have confidence that this facility takes care of all animals as if they are their own and I am so thankful that they honor military discounts, as well. Val Williams: Our dog, Ginger, acts like she is in heaven when at Rivermist. Doggie daycare is a blast and it’s wonderful to be able to fold a bath in to her stay. We’ve also been really happy with our dog’s longer stays there. The folks at Rivermist have always been extremely helpful and professional. You can tell they truly love the dogs in their care. All of this gives us great peace of mind.
Sue Reber: My puppy Luke had a wonderful time at Rivermist. When our plans changed slightly two days before his boarding, Rivermist was very responsive to accommodate our needs. My pug was on three medications and the staff was able to accommodate his special needs. I will definitely use Hometown Bed & Biscuits in the future.
Sharron Holbert: This place is amazing. They make sure all of the dogs have their shots and gather tons of info up front on every dog they care for, so it's super safe. My american terrier has the best time and they really love all the dogs. They can share picture updates when you board overnight, and when I take Luna for the day she comes home super happy and tired. Can't say enough good things about Tim and Adryanna and the whole staff.
Ana Rivas: My 1.5-year-old poodle went there the first time and came back with a rash, I couldn't send her anywhere we spent a ton on medicines and time ensuring she would recover, when she finally did about 2 months later I tried again, I didn't want her dirty because it was one of the possible reasons for the rash so I requested a bath, unfortunately they didn't just do a plain bath and dry, they wanted the whole package and charged me upwards of $125, they included a silly scarf but my pet came back traumatized, I don't know what they did but when I was waiting for her I could her one of the people doing the grooming yelling at the dogs, then she had the nerve to tell me what I was doing wrong, so I said that I was trying to get her used to groomers and she asked where I was taking her so she would know the competition... the competition is way better than her, after that incident my pet has developed some anxiety issues and closing into her second birthdate we're still working on it. Bed and Biscuits could be better without that groomer, I was truly hoping this was the place for my dog to socialize with other dogs and people, but nah, that's not the case.
Tom Switzer: Hometown Bed & Biscuits is a great option for boarding your pet. Much less expensive than boarding at the local vet with the same amount of care and attention. Staff are friendly and we’re willing to answer our routine check-in calls.
Johanna Verdesoto: Critical: QualityThe new pet groomer did not deliver the expected grooming outcome discussed in addition to having to pay a higher price and wait almost a whole day to get my dog back. She did not cut the hair on her ears nor did she cut all of her nails. I was very disappointed. The previous groomer was a lot better.
Cory Conway: I can’t say much more than “perfect” for hometown bed and biscuits, I went to JMU and had to board my cat multiple times and I gladly have made the trip since my time at JMU to board my cat here. They are hands down the best people for boarding I’ve ever experienced.

Kim Pike: Lilly is such a lovely little girl. Easily the nicest puppy I have ever owned. She is everything I could want in a pug, sweet, smart, she loves everyone and is devoted to my partner. Warren had the answers to every question I had about her and clearly loves his dogs. I am so grateful to Warren for letting us have this lovely little girl.

Laurie Emann: I highly recommend this breeder. I just purchased a puppy from Warren and what a great experience it was. Warren and his wife are very knowledgeable about pugs and they let you visit your puppy as much as you want before you bring them home which makes a much smoother transition for the puppy. You can tell they love pugs and their puppies are family to them. They even send you home with supplies to get you started with your new puppy. I will definitely get my next pug from this breeder.

We got to visit with our 2 little pug puppies weekly and were able to bond before bringing them home. We love our little black and chinchilla girls so much! LEE ANN HELD: The 2 fawn sister, littermates we purchased a year ago this week are the most beautiful, loveable, fun loving, well adjusted little doggies. Warren and his wife raise wonderful pugs who are well cared for, especially when pregnant. The offspring are outstanding! Our two girls have great markings and thick fawn coats. Renee' Sampson-Pack: Meeting Warren after a few months of waiting for my pug it was well worth it. I was anxious and nervous trusting and giving money during our pandemic. But he reassured me that he would take care of me. Finally I picked up my pug up on 3/2021 black with a dash of white his name is Myles, Warren had already registered him with AKC, he received his 1st shots and I have all the paper work I would need to get him started and registered as his new owner and unexpectedly I received a bag a toys, food, treats and a new bed to get us started this was a wonderful experience. Ashley Schell: I truly cannot say enough good things about Frolick! We started bringing Eve, our recent rescue, here for obedience training in August for her leash reactivity and general lack of self-control. Her trainer Brian has been phenomenal from the very first time I called to inquire. Before I ever made a commitment he gave me a lot of great advice and said I could reach out with any training questions, before we even had an in-person consult. It was clear that he was passionate about what he does and truly cares about the dogs. This is very true of him as well as the entire Frolick team! Eve still has some work to do, but Brian has really helped her to make strides in her progress! We (human owners) even get to do a session with Brian and Eve at the end of each week to help us continue her training. This is also the only obedience school I have found that INCLUDES "daycare", most others have training from 9-12 then if you're at work like most people, you have to pay to day board them at the facility. I really appreciate the continuity of having day care included, it also allows for more breaks/training rather than 3 straight exhausting hours. We are on the waitlist for regular daycare and look forward to enrolling her in agility classes in the winter to continue giving her structure and building her confidence! Corrie Miracle: This was one of the most fun experiences! We had a bulldog agility night (those two words are rarely found side by side) but it was a blast! The meetup group met at Frolic Dogs and the staff was super friendly even though we all showed up at the same time. We were let into the play area and the bulldog chaos started! There were so many pups and everyone had a great time. They had chairs if you were tired as well as a water bowl for them to share. They also provided clean up supplies if your dog had an accident. What a fun place to let the dogs wear themselves out!

Andrew Cruickshank: Great and friendly place to go on a rainy day. Was disappointed when I found out the gym is only open for 2 hours from 5pm-7pm during the week. But my dog and I had an amazing time learning the obstacles and just having fun playing fetch.

Ana Rivas: I took my 7-8 months puppy for training classes and the results were fantastic. We could only dream our dog would behave so nicely one day, but their training taught her and us how to make corrections, how to stay on track, what to expect as she grows older, and they offered to contact them back if we have any questions. They suggested we take a video so they can better diagnose where the problem lies and provide their professional advice. We couldn't be happier, and we all get to use the training facilities for training refreshers. Not that we have gone, our puppy is doing great. Thank you guys!

Ale O: Can't say enough good things about Frolick Dogs gym option. I took my pup there for the first time recently and she had so much fun. She usually needs some motivation and the staff were so encouraging and gentle with all the dogs. Amanda Chambers: My dog just finished his first private gym session at Frolick and he had a BLAST!!! Rusty was so helpful with tips and working with us! My dog has anxiety around other dogs and can't do traditional agility classes, but Frolick offers the perfect solution for us with the 30 min private rental. The gym space is huge and clean. Judging by my dog's behavior, the treats are also delicious! We will definitely be back!! Highly recommend!

Cynthia Kolbe: My three year lab, Hudson, has been going to Frolick for over two years. He has an abundant amount of energy and comes home tired which is perfect. Kevin and Kim treat him as if he were their own dog. I don’t consider Frolick a dog care facility, but instead a place where my dog works out on a treadmill, plays and socializes with other dogs matched to his personality and size, gets potty walks, and has rest periods during the day. I trust the owners and employees implicitly!

C Hemenway: I have been using 4 Pet's Sake for a number of years now and their people are great. We have one wonderful woman, Sharon, who is the primary care taker of our cats. She is very reliable and always looks out for their health. If one of our cats is hiding, she always tracks them down to make sure all is OK. When I lived in Virginia I used another service that was not nearly as professional and responsive. These folks will call if they don't hear from you by your expected arrival time. Having 4 Pet's Sake taking care of the cats allows me to have a truly relaxing vacation.
Kim Rouse: We are so thankful that we found 4 Pet's Sake to take care of our two puppies. The owner, Terri, is awesome to work with and she and Kelly have always come through for us on any last minute requests, no matter how short of notice. Yvonne is our primary dog walker and our puppies LOVE her. She takes very good care of them, with lots of love, walks and romps. They so look forward to her twice daily visits. We get a "report card" every day that tells us how our puppies were feeling, what they did on their walks, etc. We always refer to Yvonne as their second mother. She is the best and we are truly blessed that we found this company and Yvonne.

K.J. Heidebrecht: Four Pets' Sake is a wonderful service. Carol, our cat sitter, is a saint. We have too many cats, and when we go out of town she cares for them cheerfully and without complaint. She leaves us a day-to-day report on who she sees and their shenanigans. Terry in the office is a gem, very pleasant to talk to and quite efficient. They've been able to serve our needs in an emergency more than once. Making reservations on the website is very convenient. I'd recommended Four Pets' Sake to anyone.
Lauren O: I have been using 4 Pet's Sake for many many years. I've also had the same sitter almost every time, which is nice because now my cats feel comfortable with her. The sitter also leaves very detailed notes of each visit, which is fun to read when I get back home. I have 7 cats and that's a lot of feeding, scooping and playing, so I think the price is very reasonable too. They are always quick to respond to my requests, even on short notice. I highly recommend them.

Last year our dog Ginger had surgery unexpectedly and needed mid-day care because we both work full-time. They took care of her with little notice. We are always confident that our dogs and cat are being well taken care of. They really care about what they do. We can relax knowing our guys are in their care when we can not be there. OLHOC Building: Nine years ago, when we got our puppy I was concerned about finding a good company to arrange daily walks, vacation boarding, etc., for our Bella. I actually prayed for guidance and in three instances in three days heard about 4 Pets Sake. They have been a Godsend (literally!) both on a daily basis and in vacation and emergency situations. Terri and Kelly are friendly and professional and so talented at their Admin and Bed & Biscuit positions. Our dog-walker, Heather, has become a member of our family and she is adored by both Bella and my husband and I. We will be forever grateful that 4 Pets Sake has and will continue to be a part of our lives!

Tayonna Coles: My partner and I had been looking for a puppy for a little while when we came across this place. At first we were a little skeptical from all of the reviews claiming they may be a puppy mill. After going to visit in person the place was very clean the puppies looked well fed and we’re very playful. After some browsing we found our baby, socks! He was the smallest of the bunch but he’s a handful. The staff walked us through the process and even answered my questions when I Called back a week after having him. Although their pets are a bit over priced I would recommend them to anyone looking for a forever friend!

George A-R: Although I had to take my beautiful pup "Toby" to the emergency room just 3 days after bringing him home, I was pleasantly surprised how Mark Pauley took full responsibility from my first call to them, saying they'll do whatever I desired. While in the emergency they paid the expenses and didn't offer any objection in taking back the pup with a full reimbursement of my purchase price, in addition to covering my initial vet visit who advised I take Toby to the animal emergency Hospital. Both Mark and his brother (Chuck) were as thoughtful and only showed concern for what was best for my family and Toby. Initially, I was expecting to have a dispute whether they would cover the medical bills, but I was amazed that the first words from Chuck was don't worry we will pay any medical bills. As Mark, the Vet and I spoke, we agreed that Pauley's Pup would take Toby back and provide the necessary care. They even advised that I could follow-up in a week to check on Toby's condition. Despite being sadden with my stressful experience, I felt Mark & Chuck were very understanding and supportive in helping to easy our family grief. Afterward, I decided to read all the prior negative reviews of Pauley's Pup and I have to say they are far from the truth and several probably had a hidden set agenda. I agree more with the many positive reviews that Pauley's Pups provides a clean and safe environment for their pups. No one can say we are perfect, and therefore we should not be throwing stones in our glass house. Occasionally accidents will happen, as in my case. But yes, despite the above average price for their puppies, I found the owner trustworthy and am willing to give them a second chance in the future. In almost every negative review, I saw the owner making every effort to compensate the puppies' buyers. This is something rarely seen in today's business world. In the past, many replies to my reviews are just patronizing words, but Mark Pauley talks the talk and walks the walk. May God continue to bless you, Mark & Chuck Pauley, and all your beautiful companions. I will call soon and will be praying for Toby's full recovery.

His passion for these dogs and his desire for them to go to good homes was extremely admirable. The process with Paul and meeting the dog through the foster, Grace, was fantastic - no complaints. The people who work with Lucky dog seem to care very much about these animals, and it shows.

Christina Flear: I recently went through the adoption process with Lucky Dog and being a first time dog owner, the process was beyond helpful and reassuring. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly making the whole process that much more pleasant. Each step of the process was organized and easy to follow, plus the communication with their team was quick and thorough. I appreciated them walking me through each step and helping me adopt our new dog Asher. They took the time to make sure we were a good fit, which is so important to me. Briana Provost: Had an enjoyable experience with Lucky Dog and their team. They made sure I understood everything there was to know about every dog I met before I met them. Ended up adopting my dog Stenson, and we are such a good fit. The only thing I will say is that they don’t guarantee the breeds of dogs so if that is something that is important to you, be sure to ask about their match making program since that’s a process where they make sure they pair you with a dog based on your breed and temperament expectations.

Johanna Gonzalez: I was able to adopt my beautiful kitty with this organization. Originally I was going to adopt another pet, but she was chosen by someone else before I was able to confirm my decision. I waited patiently and they assisted in helping me find the right fit for me! Once I confirmed the adoption picking her up was a breeze! I had my carrier and collar ready, they had my sweet kitty ready! It was a perfect match and now we are so overjoyed to have her.

Maegan Cross: I had a fantastic experience adopting a cat from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue in January 2022. The vetting process was thorough. Staff and volunteers are friendly, responsive, and helpful. The process was easy to access. And, best of all, I found my best friend for life (Stella pictured here)! Would DEFINITELY adopt from them again!
Amy Gregurich Lindley: Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a one-of-a-kind organization! My family and I have dealt with other rescue organizations and Lucky Dog is truly a gem. They CARE about the pups they are responsible for and have gone above and beyond when foster pups need more care (i.e. disabled, injured, etc.). They are diligent and thorough with vetting the fosters for their organization which was the reason we ended up switching to Lucky Dog as a foster (and eventually as an adopter). The adoption process is just as thorough - and with good reason - they want their pups matched with the right people and with people they know will care for them. Ellen Rolfes: Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is my 'go to' rescue organization to find a rescue dog. I have gotten three wonderful dogs from LDAR, with my most recent being Nibbles (now known as Oliver). We got Eddie in 2010, and he is showing Oliver all the ropes. The process could not have been easier, and the volunteers/staff were extremely helpful along the way. We found Oliver at one of the adoption events on a Sunday, and applied to adopt him on the spot. We had Oliver home with us by Tuesday night - just 48 hours after meeting him. We have now had Oliver for 4 weeks and he is a perfect addition to our family. Thank you LDAR for helping so many animals, for helping my family find the perfect dog, and for making the process so easy.

Shannon Wilkerson: This organization has shady practices! Believe the negative reviews. I know some people will have a good experience, but enough people having a bad experience speaks to the integrity of the company. Bottom line, I gave them $425 (which is a high fee for a shelter adoption anyway) and I don’t have a dog. I tried to resolve this multiple ways with multiple staff. No resolution. No dog. There are other shelters in the DC area that have much lower fees and less unhappy adopters. Read all the reviews. I’m not the only person saying that they paid a fee and have no dog. I found a reputable breeder and purchased a puppy. Too bad I had to go this route, but at least my kids will soon have an adorable puppy to love.
Response: Shannon adopted a puppy from us. She told us that her "children have special needs and are too rough with her. I have to watch everything that they do every second," and that this was too much for her. In addition, the puppy was teething and doing normal puppy chewing which scared the children. She returned the puppy less than one week after she adopted. We then agreed to help her find an older, calmer dog that would not scare her children and that could tolerate their roughness. Unfortunately, finding that kind of dog does that time, and we wanted to be sure the dog had been in foster care with children before we moved forward adopting a second dog to Shannon. She agreed with this plan, but then got upset when we pointed out she seemed only to be interested in dogs that we could not confirm were good with children. At that point, Shannon began sending harassing emails to our staff. While we remained committed to working with Shannon to find a dog that would be a good match for her family, we understand from this review she has purchased a puppy. We hope her new puppy does well with her children.
Brian Benner: We’d applied through several rescues in the DC area and Lucky Dog was the most helpful and attentive. We got pre-approved through the application/interview process and then went to one of their planned adoption events. We’re so happy to have brought home this ball of joy and we’re always recommending Lucky Dog to others. Adopt, don’t shop!

Alessandra: To preface this, I am giving five stars because with ongoing interest and patience, I found Cookie through Lucky Dog! The first picture is when I first met him at an event hosted at PetSmart; he is being held by a LD volunteer. The next three are from the past seven weeks since I brought him home :) It did take months for the right dog to come along for me, punctuated in the middle with the unfortunate loss of a sweet dog I was very excited about. Lucky Dog maintained contact via email when I was clearly discouraged with the adoption process and answered questions promptly about any dog I contacted them about. Often the dog I had expressed interest in was already tentatively adopted by another good fit. I recommend checking the adoptable dogs daily on their website. The FIRST adoption event I went to, I expressed interest in Cookie (then named Danny), whom I had seen online. My being pre-approved to adopt a small dog definitely seemed to expedite the process. The team was clearly busy but were patient, kind, and helpful, and made sure his foster mom handed Cookie over to me and let me know what he was like during their time together. Thank you to the Lucky Dog team for connecting me with my lil guy!
