Psychiatric Institute of Washington: what do users think?

Andrea: Grateful for this place to exist. I came in as a walk in off the street because I needed help that minute. It was experience here that the vast majority of the staff went above and beyond in every way they could think of to make myself as a patient comfortable and cared for. The minute I walked into admissions I felt cared for and that I did not have to handle it alone any more. Shout out to Hazel for seeing what I needed and giving me her own water bottle when I had not had anything to eat or drink till I walked in. Margo who did my intake interview was so amazingly sympathetic to what I had been going through. It felt so good to be validated. Then I went up to unit 7 and met Gary who I would later see be a phenomenal caretaker for all my fellow patients on the unit. From keeping calm when someone displayed extreme behavior to joking and finding ways to give us a therapeutic experience. The taker for me was when my roommate had a panic attack and I asked for ice to help calm her. He could not give me the packs they had for safety reasons but he came up with a wonderful solution. Showing again that true passion and care for our wellbeing. Thank you all for the work you do everyday.
Response: Thank you for your kind words, Andrea! Shout-outs like this are so meaningful to our team and we will be sure to pass your comments along. Thank you again and take care!

Aliyah Boyce: I will never send my loved one to this facility ever again. Please do not send your loved ones here. Worst than prison. Staff is rude and disrespectful even management of the program. This place is terrible. Violates every protocol because they can get away with it. The state should shut this place down immediately! If I can rate 0 stars I would. This is a inhumane treatment center. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!
Response: Hi, Aliyah. Thank you for your feedback. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further about your concerns. At your convenience, please provide us with your contact information by visiting http://www.psychinstitute.com/contact-us/. We hope to hear from you soon. Thank you again.

We Need Answers: This is the worst hospital facility ever, with providing patients with the wrong medication and diagnosis, had no idea clothes were needed my loved one has been there for 1 week and I was told due to COVID outside persons will not be permitted, in addition a complaint was filed with the medical director both Alexus Obeck and Autumn Carlson which both failed to respond in a timely manner to address concerns of miss diagnosis and re evaluation. My loved one who suffers from mental illness called from a cell phone from the facility, begging to be picked up to be treated elsewhere while you hear the verbal abuse deflected from staff members to patients. It has been 4 days with no response. The staff is negligent and displays unconstitutional acts regarding patients and their well-being. DONT SEND YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY HERE. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING, they contradict every word they say. We can't even trust the people appointed to care for persons with mental illness due to a lack of compassion for our community.

Kyrah Ford: Zero stars don’t recommend, this place was very unhelpful and mad things worst. Some of the male staff was just creeps and was doing inappropriate things! I highly encourage you to never send anyone to this hospital. worst experience ever!

Sandra Jacinto: If your loved one is admitted here, you won’t be able to communicate with them. My brother was admitted three days ago and I’ve yet to hear anything. In the times that I’ve called I’ve experienced the following: - straight to voicemail - operator says they don’t know the unit number and won’t be able to figure it out - being transferred to a dead end - person says they’ll take my number then immediately hangs up on me - first time I called they told me that his sister already called that morning. False. I’m his only sister and I never called before. I was successful in giving my name and number once and ANOTHER PATIENT CALLED ME BACK. They gave my number to the wrong patient. This is a psychiatric institute. You’d think they’d be careful with who they give messages to for obvious reasons. Clearly they didn’t vet if that patient knows me. I know that there are some good staff members there but the majority of them don’t care and shouldn’t be in this job. There are horror stories about this place how they let patients freely walk around and get in fights. It’s scary that he’s in there and can’t be reached. I don’t trust this place at all.
Response: Hi, Sandra. Thank you for reaching out to us. We would like to take the opportunity to address your concerns with you directly. At your convenience, please provide us with your contact information by visiting http://www.psychinstitute.com/contact-us/ so that we can follow up with you. Thank you again and we hope to hear from you soon.

Mason Mailloux: If I could rate this institution 0 stars I would. Some of the staff are genuine good people but about 80% of them don’t seem to care at all about the “patients” when it’s really just a scam for insurance and Medicaid. There is no security however there are physical fights every day. They hardly feed you and when they do it’s worse than jail food, The group therapy is a joke 45min out of the 24 sleepless hours in a day. No one in their right mind would ever want to get admitted here.
Response: Hi, Mason. Thank you for your feedback. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further about your concerns. At your convenience, please provide us with your contact information by visiting http://www.psychinstitute.com/contact-us/. We hope to hear from you soon. Thank you again.

Jessica Fullington: If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction and/or mental health, this is an EXCELLENT place to receive help. The staff is truly exceptional and very compassionate! I was in TERRIBLE condition when I was brought to the facility. The expert level care that I received made it possible for me to return to my normal life in just one week. They even made sure that I had a solid plan to continue my care once I was discharged. I would urge ANYONE who is looking for this type of assistance to go to this wonderful place. Hopefully, I will never need them again. God bless
Response: Thank you for your thoughtful comments, Jessica! We are so glad that you found our staff to be supportive and friendly. We appreciate the kind words and we hope you are doing well!

Kaden Burchett: if i need a psych hospitalization again, i'm specifically requesting NOT to go here. the staff either didn't notice or didn't care that i didn't eat anything for the four days i was there. another patient (who i believe to have been developmentally disabled) frequently entered other patient rooms and even went through my belongings, and the staff responded to these incidents by yelling at him; they never took any actions to prevent him from doing these things. there were bugs in my room and it was never investigated when i told the staff; i was simply labeled as psychotic. there were no groups, no therapy (or even a therapist as far as i'm aware), nothing to pass the time besides a tv that didn't work for half the time i was there. it was impossible for my fiancé to contact me while i was there. frankly, if this place is your only option, you might just be better off not going. i will likely be filing a complaint with the district against this place because of my experiences there.

Cam N: This place needs to be shut down immediately, no care or respect for patients. Disregard for health and sanity. Food is terrible, showers are ice cold. Employees force religious beliefs. Not profesional what so ever
Response: Hi, Cam. Thank you for your feedback. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further about your concerns. At your convenience, please provide us with your contact information by visiting https://reptn.io/BwAfZ1AaQfA. We hope to hear from you soon. Thank you again.

Mary Moaney: If I could give this place zero stars I absolutely would staff does not communicate with parents of children patients. Patients are fighting no security no control no organization etc. My daughter had a panic attack and no one found her. No organization with medications etc. Absolutely worst place to send your children. If you actually care about your children do NOT send them here.
Response: Hi, Mary. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us with your concerns. We take your comments very seriously and would like to learn more about your concerns. Due to federal patient privacy laws, we can only discuss care with a patient or guardian; however, we encourage you to reach out to us directly by visiting http://www.psychinstitute.com/contact-us/. Again, thank you.

Washington Interventional Psychiatry (Ketamine and TMS center): what do users think?

Rebecca Murphy: Dr. Raczynski, and his infusion nurse, Samantha are incredible. In my entire treatment history, I've never worked with a more competent team. The accommodated me and my service animal during infusions, and went above and beyond in providing and advocating for appropriate care.
Response: We’re very happy your experiences with us have been positive!

Kas: I am seeing Dr. Sasha Bergeron and Dr. Michelle Sanzo here and they are easily the best pair of physiatrist and psychologist I've ever worked with. We managed to find a root cause for my long-standing mental health issues and have come up with a viable plan to address said issues. Also, I've made a few last-minute, urgent appointments here, and they have always managed to squeeze me in. The front office staff are also very helpful, and their online scheduling system makes scheduling an appointment extreamly easy.
Response: Thank you for the review!!

Rebecca Mazur: I am getting excellent care at WIP. Over many, many years (I'm 68), I have seen lots of psychiatrists and tried many drugs and treatments. This place gives me hope. I feel better!
    Response: Thank you!

Valora Everly: In my 30+ years of mental health assistance I've never spoken with someone who could make quick sense out of what I've suffered with for 30+ years. Dr. Reddy is down to earth, professional, insightful and compassionate. I'm sooo thankful I started treatment here! Update: I'm nearly 8 months into treatment and I'm at a place with myself I never imagined I could be. In my life I've been through sooo much therapy, hospitalizations, rounds of ECT.. but nothing has ever effected me and my life as the treatment I am receiving has. Though I feel most of my recovery is internally, my husband sees so much improvement with me and praises me for the work I put in and my dedication to feeling "better". Likewise, we are soooo thankful to have WIP nurse Sam and Dr. Reddy with their attentiveness to me as an individual and in helping me along in my journey of relief.
    Response: Thank you!

Eileen Marable: I love getting my treatments at the Washington, DC location of Veritas Health. I feel my doctor is well connected to my case and when I've had issues come up with my case or treatment he's been invested with immediate weigh-in or bigger-picture solutions. My nurse is the best out there. She is friendly, kind, uber-professional, and a problem solver. I'm a tough stick for an IV, but she has made it her mission to happen with as much ease as possible. I love her low-key, but truly focused style. The treatments rooms are clean, simple, and friendly. I could not ask for a better facility and team for my treatment. Thank you to Veritas Health, Dr. Reddy, and my nurse Sam!
Response: We’re glad we can be helpful.

Carolyn Smith: I have not had an infusion yet. This rating is based solely on the consultation with Dr. Raczynski. The doctor answered my questions completely and honestly. He explained when there was no scientific evidence currently available to answer some of the questions. Dr. Raczynski was as personable as he was professional. His questions to me were pertinent and helpful as well. I am looking forward to working with this doctor and Veritas Health.
    Response: Thank you very much.

K Murray: Dr. Rokoske always takes the time to listen to me, to answer my questions, and to explain things to me. She’s the best psychiatrist I’ve ever had.
Response: We agree! Thank you for your review.

David Sloane: Dr Reddy is an exceptional psychiatrist, and has done an excellent job of assessing my challenges and responding to them effectively, where other providers have failed.
    Response: Thank you.

Susan Anderson: Dr. Raczynski has treated a family member for a few years. He is responsive, compassionate, and up to date with latest therapies, and medications. I would highly recommend him to work with your teen.
Response: We appreciate the review. Thanks.

Gina Mann: I receive kind and informative care from Dr. Raczynski. The Registered Nurses, Andre and Sam, are also kind with a genuinely warm touch. I feel I am in good hands and am very pleased with my experience at Veritas. I continue to receive care from Dr. Raczynski and the registered nurse- all excellent experiences and my health is continuing to improve.I highly recommend Veritas Health, PLLC.
Response: Thank you. We’re glad to be of help.

The Ross Center: what do users think?

lorie d: The Ross Center's Medical Director, Dr. Beth Salcedo is amazing! She is kind, compassionate, and takes time to understand the needs of her patients. She takes a holistic approach to treating anxiety which I have really appreciated. I highly recommend her!
Response: Thank you for your kind words!

Robert Scott: How can you get good adolescent care virtually when everyone can go to the movies, hair salons and all the other activities, but a simple in- person program or seeing a psychologist is off limits because of the excuse of a pandemic. Is the psychologist and therapist too good to not meet in-person when all of us are working back at work? We all need to be loud and tell our mental health professionals that we are not going to take virtual as an option anymore. This company just cares for the ole mighty dollar and they think that they can give adolescent mental health effectively virtually as our children keep falling apart. This is ridiculous and unprofessional.
Response: We are working on our reopening plan, being mindful of the various health needs and concerns of our staff while also following the guidance of our regulatory organizations such as APA. We hope to be able to offer in person treatment very soon.

Brianna Scott: Yikes! Leaving my review with the same thing I said in my e-mail: "Good afternoon, I just called the Ross Center and not sure who I spoke to but...it's clear that you all as a company do not want to help people. I called simply stating that I received a voicemail over the weekend, I was inquiring about being a new patient for medication management, and was just met with..."okay." I tried to give the person the benefit of the doubt but they clearly had an attitude. This is my first impression of this company so...despite the fact that maybe the doctors who work here might be good...I don't really want to deal with receptionists who are annoyed at the fact that their literal job is to get new patients signed up. It's already super hard to get mental health help, and it's also a lot to build up the courage to ask in the first place. Does this matter to any of you all? No. But, you all should be wise to train folks answering the phones to just treat people with respect. If the person was confused by what I was asking, they could have simply just said, "Yeah, we can help with that. Who exactly left you a voicemail over the weekend?" It's really that simple. Thank you and have a great rest of your week." It's probably going to be quite rough finding anyone in the city to help with medication management. But I'd kind of rather go without medication at all than being treated shittily by literally anyone in the healthcare system.
Response: This is certainly not the experience we want you to have, and not what we expect of our administrative staff. We apologize that you were treated this way. We will investigate this and deal with it immediately. If you have not yet been able to get an appointment with a different psychiatrist, feel free to leave a message for our medical director at 202-363-1010 x 114 and she will make sure your inquiry gets handled immediately and comfortably for you.

Rachel Wise: When my teenage daughter was experiencing some anxiety, I called the Ross Center and she was scheduled the next day for an evaluation. The entire process was smooth and efficient. The professionals on staff worked with us to figure out the best treatment options. My daughter had an extremely positive experience at The Ross Center. I highly recommend the Ross Center.

N A: I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Melissa Monson. She is extremely reliable and is the only psychiatrist I have ever felt like I got very comprehensive care from consistently. Ross Center is very expensive. I have been a patient off and on for many years, but I have never felt like I didn't get what I paid for here.

Sheryl Aaron: I've had the pleasure of collaborating with a number of therapists and psychiatrists at The Ross Center, and I have the utmost respect for their team. When referring clients to this practice, I know they'll get some of the most consistently skilled and compassionate treatment available in the D.C. area.

Jill Jacobs: Unprofessional, discriminatory, argumentative, and poorly informed. I tried to make an appointment here, and made it very clear that I am willing to pay cash -not use insurance at all - but was told that because my insurance is Tricare, they will not see me. Repeatedly I explained that I have no intention of using insurance nor filing with insurance after the fact, I simply want to get therapy and pay for it myself. In fact, I explained I would be willing to sign a document to that effect or write a letter and have it notarized declaring this. Regardless, I was told that they will NOT see any person who has Tricare, Medicaid, or Medicare, period... This place does not file or accept any kind of insurance at all; they only accept out of pocket payments. Yet they will not take my money, will not even tell me their fees because... Why...? I happen to have a past association association with the military...? This is not only discriminatory, but bad business practice, in general. I would give zero stars if I could.

Kiki Boots: Honestly feels like a scam. Our family has dealt with many, many clinicians over the years and this is the first time that, on intake, they told us there wouldn't be a good fit and to go elsewhere. And this is for pretty run-of-the-mill needs. I would avoid, unless you want to be charged hundreds of dollars for nothing.
Response: Hi there- We would be happy to discuss this with you and see if we can work something out. That does not sound right, and is not typically how we operate. Please give our medical director, Dr. Salcedo, a call at 202-363-1010 x 114 so you can set up a time to talk about this and we can make this right. Thank you.

Brad Brenner, Ph.D.: I've known Dr. Beth Salcedo for years and she's a warm, thoughtful expert. She and her colleauges at the Ross Center are some of best in the Washington DC.

Laura Webb: The Ross Center has been an extraordinary resource for me. Because of them, I’ve found exactly the right treatment to manage my anxiety, and I’m so grateful.

The GW Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences: what do users think?

Bam Boozld: Any entity that would employ Dr. Edward D. Farber needs to re-think its standards in moral and ethical transparency, accountability, and integrity. This man is first, and foremost, a Charlatan-Shyster. A self-proclaimed expert, lacking in faculties of his self-perceived expertise. Shameless and ruthless in tactics, or just plain careless, probably gets his sourced info from the MAGA groupies, or the Onion (because he can't differentiate between real and surreal, or in vengeance, has clouded judgement); and displays undertones of a creepier version (kiddie-net) of Barry Freundal; a rapacious megalomaniac; impervious awareness and foundation in psychological sex-gender differences - human behavior and personality, as well as marked cultural insensitivities. #GetWoke!

Justin Parker: Incredibly rude scheduling staff.

Department Of Mental Health: what do users think?

Fitzgerald Hamblin Jr: I really think researchers should develop newer non-lethal side effects medications that don't cause massive weight gain or sexual disorders or dehydration, tiredness body shakes or facial disfigurement or mental confusion or diabetic episodes or dementia episodes symptoms focus more on the brain health combined within these medications supportive adjusted dosages of B12 & Omega 3 & thiamine & folic acid & niacin & lite Potassium & Ester C & testosterone & libido supplements as well just a suggestion. It really would help so many that are literally trapped. To using these lethal substances there must be some new innovative solutions. Whereas general input can be very helpful to enforce these changes. Without input there is no possibility of these changes to take forth. Ignorance can be damaging. More named petitions Senators oriented endorsements. It can happen. Just again a suggestion

J king: The pharmacy at this place is truly terrible. The people who work there are rude and slow. The average waiting time for me to get my medication is an hour. They should be let go and replaced by people who actually like people and who are willing to help those in vulnaravle positions.

excite Intel: This is emergency urgent care mental health, one step above going to the hospital. As such, it is designed to serve a particular population. It is designed to help those who can't really function without the correct meds, and so need their meds now. They will help you if you know something is really wrong, but haven't been able to get diagnosed yet. They will help you if you run out of your meds, have no more refills, and can't get it from your usual provider in a timely matter. They will help you even if the problem is that the meds you do have are not working for you properly. As it is actually the clinic of the municipal department of mental health, it is for all, so cost is not an issue. However, they do take your insurance information. You come in. They do diagnosis and medicine perscription in one day. But, like other urgent care, plan to be there all day. Care is triaged (so depending on the comparitive severity of the problems of the others who comes in that day) you may be asked to come in on the following day. Also, just like urgent care, they want make sure you have a regular caregiver. Like most facilities that are overloaded and unpredictable, the staff are tired and may be irritated, but they are caring. I have seen them use what seemed like their own funds to make a quick ramen snack for people who have been waiting for hours. The thing about this place is... when you do get to see the doctor...they are fresh, very good, very focused and they take their time to fully understand you and what you need. This is not just a refill station, they will give you a real assessment, and make an independent assessment of what meds might help you the most. Then you leave with your script.

Montgomery B: I wish I could give this place zero stars. After going there for a medication refill, they denied me seeing their doctor. The so called social worker tried saying I didn't have an issue, therefore refused to let me be seen. This place is outdated the staff are awful rude and completely incompetent. Unless you are homeless or can't afford going elsewhere - stay away at all costs!

mike a gwop star: I was in this facility for 1 hour I seen three different people they told me at the end of seeing three people and being sent upstairs that I have to go to a Maryland facility because I'm a Maryland residence not sure why they didn't tell me that in the front desk when I first seen the lady in the front and show her my Maryland ID I was sent upstairs to mrs. Leftwich she was very unprofessional very unhelpful Snappy bad attitude she gave me a referral to a Maryland office with no address just a telephone number I called the number no answer people like Miss Leftwich should not deal with people who have mental health issues I see why they want people at the door for weapons not to say I'm a violent person but if Miss Leftwich treat everybody like she treated me I see why they might see some people as a threat if she doesn't like the line of work she's in I believe she should choose another career path what she doesn't have to deal with people regardless of how I mean she was and snappy she was I still tried to remain calm and patiently wait for the referral which took a long time most of my day is gone now thanks to miss Leftwich and two other staff members who gave me the run-around just to tell me that I have to go to Maryland to get medication I haven't slept in 3 days my anxiety is going crazy all over the place I've been dealing with depression depression and I'm in between psychiatrist right now and they show no sympathy whatsoever I'm very disgusted with the way they handle the situation and I'm sad to say that they were of my own race I believe if they weren't black women I would have been treated better

MedStar Health: Outpatient Behavioral Health at Washington: what do users think?

Joi West: I have DC health insurance, I am in a position where I am in a very high need of care with very limited resources. I have been to this program multiple times, not because I'm pleased with the services here but because very simply, I HAVE NO WHERE ELSE TO GO!! Everyday I feel my challenges and obstacles become harder to bare. If for any reason you step out of the group, put your head down or ask to sit out an activity you will be chastised, taunted and told to leave. Like me, some of you may not have any other options aside from this program. Be prepared to have multiple therapist know you’re in a high risks situation and the therapist WILL TELL YOU TO LEAVE the group for not wanting to participate in art or needing to take additional time to yourself. This was said to me several times. Multiple groups members witness it and later told me how uncomfortable they were. That is absolutely ridiculous to me, some days you may not be able to give 100% but if you show up and do your best, just know that I am very proud of you and grateful that you are trying to get help. Asking for help is very difficult and it can be crushing when you feel like that help is only there if you comply or behave in a manner thats conducive to the conductor. By the way, you may want to lower your expectations now. In this group you're going to just read work sheets and stare at the wall.

Shatara Rolle: If you actually want help and treatment for your mental illness, I implore you to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! At what point does it not cross over into the realm of medical malpractice when patients have to endure such neglect? It's impossible to get through the phone lines, and they are fully aware. It's 2022. This isn't new technology. When you do finally get an appointment, there are no appointment reminders. I've called to try to get medications refilled and actually spoken to a human being. I wait a week to go over to the pharmacy only to find that my prescription has not been sent in. I was told they finally had a slot with a therapist because they had not since 2020. I've been waiting since January for this therapist to call me to set up an appointment. It's like they don't understand that this could be an issue of life or death.

Moss Madigan: I like my physician - but can't get anyone the phone to schedule an appointment. I've reached out to my physician through the Medstar portal but she just said she forwarded my request. I then get a call at 4:57pm from a restricted number - which I don't answer because my phone flagged it as spam. As soon as I realize it's their office, I call back at 5:02 - the phone system is off because they're closed. I've spent the last 2 weeks calling every morning & in the afternoon and can't get through the phone system. Absolutely horrible. Thank god my mental health needs aren't dire.

Bradford Smith: This phone system has been broken for over a year. There are several days in a row you will have to call their number upwards of 10 times - the phone system will go in a circle and hang up on you. If you need prescriptions refilled - do it a month in advance. Please fix the phone system.

Meghan Murphy: Phone lines take you in circles and then hang up on you and all voicemail boxes are full. Any time I need an appointment I have to go through every option, find a line that will let me leave a voicemail and hope someone calls me back soon. When I do reach someone I am rudely told that I "called the wrong line" only because it was the only line that would put me through. It has been like this every time i've called over the past 9 months.

Dale Glasspiegel: The phone system is broken so it's impossible to make appointments or discuss anything with them. We finally went in-person and they were helpful, so that's why it's not a 1-star

effie jennings: Just there to pick up someone.

John Warren: The therapist they have there really looks out for you they treat you just like themselves

April Batiste: The employees are pleasant, courteous and professional.

Lauren Cameron: My son had a terrible experience there

Implicity Mental Health: what do users think?

Tyron H: My experience was similar to the previous commenter's. Dr. Liao is unorganized, unhelpful and does not listen to patients very well. Thankfully I found a competent psychiatrist to help me better manage my anxiety symptoms. Dr. Liao's recommendation was for me to stop taking anxiety medication all together, saying that I should he fine with a cognitive behavioral therapist. Despite me explicitly describing my uncontrollable and daily symptoms that include arm jerks, voice quivering, body shaking, excessive sweating and restless nights, he seemed clueless. I do not recommend. He rarely attempted to schedule me for a follow-up appointment. It was clear I was not his ideal client.

Michelle Johnson: I had my first and last appointment with Dr Liao about a month ago. The session was very contentious and uncomfortable. While explaining my trajectory, Dr Liao would often cut me off, he was visibly frustrated for some unknown reason. He continued to prompt me to describe feelings I may have had 30 plus years ago, and I expressed to him that I don recall some things , but many of the feelings and scenarios that I could remember, he would discount. Needless to say I felt very uncomfortable with our engagement and his lack of empathy. Moreover, he prescribed me 2 medications, one being a controlled substance. I went to CVS to fill the prescription and was told Dr. Liao didn’t provide his Controlled Substance number so I’ve been having difficulty filling my prescription. I have been calling and leaving messages for more than 2 weeks with no response! Totally unprofessional! BEWARE!!!!!

M G-I: I contacted Dr. Liao via phone and via the implicity website requesting an appointment two weeks ago and never heard back. Given the poor reviews perhaps he has unwittingly done me a favor.

Kathleen Pyne: Dr. Liao listened carefully and with compassion. He went out of his way to help.

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital: what do users think?

jeff willard: I do not hold MGU Psychiatry in high regard. I met with my Psychiatrist for the first time several months ago, and requested that no medication recommendations be made until she knew me better and understood what side effects I wouldn't tolerate. I found it extremely hard to schedule appointments. Every request for an appointment that I submitted through the Medstar Online Portal was never responded to, and phone messages were seldom answered. The sessions we had were rushed. During today's session, I was given a medication recommendation that had hit almost every deal breaker side effect that we had previously discussed. I expressed my concern over this, and my concerns were dismissed. I'm sure the Doctor's work hard and are stretched thin, but that is a horrible attitude to take. Dismissing a clients concerns instead of working with them to find an alternate medication destroys the therapeutic alliance and ensures trust in future relationships with mental health professionals will at a minimum be diminished if not forgone. I didn't come in seeking a specific medication, but I am confident there is more than one anxiolytic medication. I don't feel good about my experience with Medstar Psychiatry, and I don't anticipate that I will bother seeking professional treatment for my anxiety again.Really bad job across the board, and I would not recommend their services. Update: I spoke with my Dr to confirm cancellation, and we had a brief conversation about it. When I explained that my concerns about side effects were dismissed and I didn't see any potential for a therapeutic alliance, the response I was given was "I am sorry you feel that way." Hey, me too. I've gotten more empathy out of change stealing vending machines. Im Autistic, and it's not hyperbole to say I emote more empathy and concern than that. Never again. I wouldn't just go out of my way to avoid this place, I would program Waze to use alternate routes when on Wisconsin Ave so you drive by it and pick up any negative energy.

Race Star: Good doctors if you can see them. I had no luck getting an appointment until one of my other physicians saw how much I had deteriorated and wrote an email to the department to vouch for how much help I needed. I am happy with the care I receive despite the difficulty accessing it. Reception staff is often surly.

Charlie Long: I've had pretty positive experiences with MedStar offices and providers but this is, and I cannot stress it enough, an absolute dumpster fire of a department. As a potential new patient, you cannot even reach a human on the phone and must leave a message. During which time you're told you'll receive a call back "within one business day." I didn't receive a call back for a week and a half. It was at this point that I was told that I could only see a provider if I had a referral from a MedStar physician or had seen a MedStar physician within the last six months. I qualified under the latter. I was then told that at this point the only type of appointments available were mental health consultations that under no circumstances would include evaluation of current or future medications - you know, like, what psychiatry inherently is as a specialty? If I was interested in any help on medication I was curtly told I could call back in three months to discuss options then. Given their timeline, I would expect best case scenario an appointment in another two months. So, five months to see a provider for a full, medical health evaluation. Thankfully, all things being relative, I'm in a great place mentally and only had a question on a side effect of a medication I'm already prescribed. That being said, I cannot imagine going through this process/ordeal if I was under true psychological duress. This department is an absolute disgrace and MedStar Georgetown - at the beginning of an expensive and very public expansion - should be ashamed to trot this straw man of a mental health department out to the public.

Nettali Squires: I am very thankful that the reason I tried to connect with this clinic was not urgent, because it’s been over a week and I have not heard back. I have called and left messages both on VM and in person at least 3 times, and have heard nothing back. Lord help patients who really need them.

Dustin Thomas: They most likely will ignore your syetwms and pass u off as a drug seeker. Horrible bed side care from the doctor who was my attending the night I was there mean doctors who take for ever doing anything and everything is so arkaik that I typical 2 hour ER visit turns into 6 hours.

Latasha Johnson: So I'm sitting here at Georgetown University been sitting here for since 2:00 a.m. in the morning it's now 12:20 in the evening the next day no one's telling me anything no one's giving me anything no one's telling me I'm going to be seen or not they just let me sit here and I'm in excruciating pain and no one's doing anything

Emma Chase: Called three times in three weeks trying to make an appointment and every time I was told that someone would call me back in three to five business days. Four weeks after my first call and nothing. Don't waste your time...
