Team Options
Corporate Development. If selected for this role, you will play a key role in all parts of generating, managing and executing acquisitions, minority investments and select strategic partnerships across the company. This also includes opportunities within Amazon’s dedicated venture investment programs The Climate Pledge Fund and Alexa Fund. Corporate Development is a small, tight-knit team who values authentic, strong willed individuals that think creatively and will proactively seek out opportunities to advance the growth initiatives of Amazon’s businesses. You will act as the primary contact in supporting Amazon's business units and senior leadership by conducting industry research, valuation analyses, due diligence, creation of strategic presentations and recommendations, and driving acquisition term sheets and contract negotiations. The ideal candidateenjoys diving deep into complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams and thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Additionally, this role requires a strong ability to build both internal and external relationships with the start-up and venture capital communities. You will identify appropriate opportunities which support Amazon's strategic priorities through interaction with senior business leaders, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, investment bankers, and organic pipeline generation, lead cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Tax, Accounting, and senior management to execute transactions from term sheet through integration, and act as a subject matter expert on valuation and deal structuring. This role can be in either Seattle, New York City, or San Francisco.
Corporate Development Finance. If selected for this high visibility role, you will be responsible for helping to evaluate a wide range of business opportunities, including M&A, investments and other strategic options. In addition, you will assist in due diligence efforts, conduct extensive research on industries, potential partners and competitors, and communicate findings and recommendations to our senior management and executive team. This position plays a key, active role on a small team that drives corporate transactions across Amazon. You will support the financial analyses that guide decision-making among senior business leaders and Corporate / Business Development teams. Many assignments will be highly ambiguous and require you to be an independent, intellectually curious individual who can frame situations through multiple lenses including the end-customer, business owner and corporate finance professional. This position is based in Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, WA.
Business Development. Amazon’s Corporate Business Development (Corp BD) team works across all of Amazon’s businesses and leads our most complex and high-impact opportunities. The Corp BD team is trustworthy, adaptable, focused on quickly gaining enough context to enable informed decision-making and on getting things done. As a Corp BD intern, your work involves regular interaction with leaders across Amazon and the opportunity to influence highly strategic initiatives throughout the company in order to bring value through strategic partnerships. Our team’s work spans across the Amazon business units, with a focus toward initiatives that guide the next phase of growth, including digital media, advertising, ecommerce, payments, cloud computing and mobile technologies. Your contributions help to manage relationships and negotiations for partnership deals which are unconventional in nature, need a centralized advocate, and/or have broader implications to multiple Amazon business units. With this focus, work is common with major technology companies, such as Facebook and Google, as well as with high-growth start-ups to identify new partnership opportunities. Internal partnerships with management teams are critical to understanding relative advantages or risks, if/when major features are in existing roadmaps, and current trends around innovation, consolidation and customer adoption. You will need to be scrappy and resourceful, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders including product, technology and science leaders. The ideal candidate will have a natural curiosity, strong executive presence, articulate oral and written communication skills and the ability to quickly earn trust with Amazonians across the company. As such, you will need to be comfortable diving deep into any and all of Amazon’s businesses. This position is based in Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, WA.
Integration. As a Corporate Development Integration MBA Intern, you will help drive acquisition diligence, integration planning and execution efforts for acquisitions across the company. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, enjoys diving deep and taking ownership of ambiguous and complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams and thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. If applying for this track, you should have at least 2 years of diligence and post-merger integration experience in a business, consulting, or corporate development role.
Integration Experience. As the Integration Experience (IX) intern, you will leverage your background in change management, organizational effectiveness, or product/user experience to drive efficient integration of Amazon's acquisitions. You will develop and deliver change management tactics, communications, training, and/or cultural integration activities for a company that has been recently acquired by Amazon and work with cross-functional partners during the immediate post-close period.
