As a customer to be yelled at and told I come here everyday and in here to long is ridiculous, when I asked for the owners name and number he told me “No I wouldn’t” this is absolutey ridiculous & pray the owners reach out to me.

Thi Nguyen: Really bad service, the cashier’s so rule. I didn’t feel good in that store! Never going there again !!

mot mot: We live far away 55mins, before go there we did call to make sure they are still open, an old woman call back and told me to come, she will wait. Then she lie and the store were close without any call back to tell us. They did that to many other customers too, I read other reviews. If you can’t take customer in, don’t call them to come, people have time to live, not to make fun of. They also have bad customers services! I don’t know what does the owner thinking by hiring these bad lies employees?

C Ward: The store was HORRIBLE!!!! I called before I drove almost 40 miles to ask if they had a particular brand of acrylic and powder. The man that answered the phone said yes. When I got there, not only did they not have the brand I wanted, they didn't have any other options in the size I wanted. Not to mention there were about 8 employees in the store and no one greeted us. When I asked one of the employees a question, she said something to her coworker who laughed before she got up. She answered and walked away before I could ask another question. When I asked a second question, the employee was VERY rude. I walked out. I wouldn't recommend my pet rock to go to this store.

Book Brunch: Kukus Beauty supply is my favorite neighborhood Beauty supply store. Almost every time I walk in, I get a warm welcome from Kuku herself. This is definitely not your average beauty supply store because it has an array of hair and skin care products - What is most unique about this store is the inclusion of Afro-centric items like waist beads, African inspired head wraps and her hand made Shea butter products are amazing! Oh and the crochet passion twists I always get from there.

I had called the supply store looking for a particular product and the telephone call experience was the the same, welcoming and inviting. The products are reasonably affordable priced. It’s wonderful to see African American owned businesses, especially beauty supply stores in the community in which I live and can walk to. Carmen Ortiz: I went to try this place because it had many good reviews. I never write reviews but I paid too much for the experience and my nails (both disappointing) to not share my own review. Experience: My nail tech was rude. She told me that I "did a bad job removing my nail polish". She felt so strongly about this, she repeated it twice to me and then told someone else "it's because she did a horrible job removing nail polish". I've been doing my own nails for many years - my removal was fine. Then, she cut me with her rough filing and I was bleeding. When I told her I was bleeding she told me I wasn't even though there was clearly blood. I asked her to swab it with alcohol and her response was "fine, I won't pain that nail". After I left, I wondered if the techs talk to the same way to their other customers (who seemed to be predominantly white). My guess is not. Nails: I got a gel manicure and the polish is bumpy and uneven. They also began chipping the day after I got my manicure. Service: Gel manicure

Low quality on customer services , they'll look at yo0ur for your money not your business . For me growing up and going to Judy's their motive and priority has changed. SPEND AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!!!

Tada Nui: Cheap quality and can not refund! I bought Hair shaper with Quality Comes First on the package. The product didn't work! Couldn't sliding any my hair. I brought it back to the shop and asking for my refund but they said I already used it, can not give a refund. I asked them what is the reason I buy your product without using??????? Be careful with their cheap products!!!

princess abudabah: Purchased a wig that originally had been on display. I was not permitted to try the wig on while in the store. After returning home and trying it on the lace portion of the wig began to shred and fall apart. Sections of hair started to fall out. Called the store & spoke with Linda. She told me to return to the store. Linda blamed me for the condition of the wig and refused to remedy the situation. I basically purchased a wig that I never had a chance to use. This was my first time purchasing at Judys Beauty Store. And it will be my last.

J 4: My receipt was marked final sale for no reason so they don't have a real return policy. There's a Latina woman there following people and harassing them about their masks. I lifted my mask to speak without taking it off and more than 6 feet away and she attempted to tell me to put my mask up which I ignored because it was already on. On top of that she followed a woman with breathing issues and harassed her to keep her nose covered at all times when she was socially distanced and catching her breath. She was unwilling to answer questions about the products and was smart as with her answers. I would visit another store. They all have the same stuff and similar prices so we don't have to put up with this behavior as a community. I'm spreading the word about this incident and boycotting this store going forward. There was no reason comment on my mask or stamp my receipt final sale for a standard purchase.

Alyssa Reddish: Don’t shop here. The employees are rude as hell. I called to ask if they had a specific hair dye in stock, and the woman told me she wasn’t sure and that I had to come check. I told her I was calling for a reason and need to make sure they have that specific product before I travel—she told me to hold on then hung up. I called back and the woman acted like she didn’t know what I was talking about and said, “...well you need to just come here and look for it yourself because I’m not going to check and we don’t do that here.” You don’t do what...provide customer service? I asked her if they were busy and she said yes, despite me hearing her ask another employee if they could go check instead. You aren’t busy. Why would I call you and ask if you have a specific product in stock if I intended on just stopping by anyway to browse your inventory? I’m not asking you questions for my health, I’m asking you because clearly I want to ensure that you have it before I travel from another part of the city. These people want to profit off of the black dollar but refuse to accommodate us. I will not shop here and will be sure that others are aware of how they treat potential customers

Paris Luv: My friend and I went into this beauty supply looking for Shea moister products. We couldn’t find it so we started looking at the wig section located in the back of the store. There is a alarm to let them know a customer back there. So the lady comes to the back while we are looking at the wigs etc and I tell her we are just looking we don’t need any help. She says okay but she still has to stand there. At this point my friend and I are very uncomfortable. So i ask her can she help me find the Shea moister and she points and I ask her can she show because I couldn’t find it . She stands there and does nothing. I will never go back to this beauty supply store because of behavior like this. Yes I understand protect your business from theft etc but don’t stereotype me because of my skin color . Not to mention I been there before and they do something funny every time. Last time I was followed around the store. I tried to stick with them because it’s close to school but behavior like that is not where I want to spend my money.

The salon is really clean with tons of colors and everyone there was so friendly and shared food recommendations since I was passing through. The glass of white wine was also much appreciated. I love how they turned out!

Milo Jovan: I got a gel manicure on Saturday around 3:30 and my friend and I had the only guy in the place (which wasn’t a problem). Throughout the service he was very rude to me and my friend, and when we got to the front to pay it was $40 (which makes sense for a gel manicure). However when I looked on the website he didn’t do two of the things that it had in the description. I brought this to his attention and he started to raise his voice at me and tell me that he could do it right now, at this point I was frustrated. He claimed he was busy and didn’t have time, yet he was able to charge me like he completed the full price. Saga Svp.: very clean place and everyone was very friendly but my nails look awful, I asked for tapered square and she didn’t know what that meant which was fine to me but then the shape came out so uneven, and my nails are so clumpy and thick!! After half a day I came out the shower and the top coat came off on two nails. I cant believe I spent so much money I’m so disappointed. Service: Dip powder

Maryann Taruc: I made sure I processed my experience fully before writing my review because I really didn't want my feedback to stem from malice. Now that I have processed I want to highlight that this salon does great gel pedicures but if you go anytime after 1pm you will notice that a lot of the techs become very tired and it shows in their work and attitude. - The owner seems kind and will try to make up for a wrong on their behalf but even then there's still negligence in the way they go about your experience and think everything funny. I wish the techs would be honest with themselves and tell you whether or not they can do a certain design you present to them. They seem to say yes to everything then mid way you'll realize you're getting a a set that looks completely opposite of what you asked and they will still charge you full price if you are not satisfied. I think I'll just go to them for pedicures but very sparingly because their energy is usually off and its hard not to feel it. Alicia Griffin: Vicky's has been my go-to for manicures and pedicures for 11 years and counting. It's consistently the best spot for a carefully applied manicure. The space is warm and welcoming and the staff are always friendly. There are lots of color options for both gel and traditional polish as well as dip. I am mainly a gel person. Best to call ahead to ensure they have time for you as they get busy and aren't always able to accommodate drop-ins. Tip is cash only. They also recently upgraded all of the pedicure chairs. Unless I move to another city, Vicky's will continue to get my business.

Simona Campbell: Searched across many different places until discovering Vicky’s, and I’ve now been a loyal customer for over a decade. Incredibly clean and efficient, and I always walk out with a perfect result. This isn’t a place to lounge and yes they are quick, but I personally feel they do it without sacrificing quality. Prices are posted for transparency, along with discounts for students, cash payers, etc. I tend to get vinylux polish, which she does charge $5 more for, but for me it’s totally worth it because my nails are able to last an entire week longer. Definitely call in advance for an appointment - this place is popular so it’s unlikely you can just walk in, especially on a weekend. Even if you call just before heading over, they’ll at least be able to tell you if they have space or if they suggest coming at a different time.

Cherie Richards: The salon was clean and well organized. I had an appointment but still felt rushed through the services. I liked that the hot stone, hot towel, and sea scrub massage are included in the pedicure. However, it was the fastest pedicure that I've ever had. I did not like the gel manicure. The polish didn't fully cover my entire nail in the manicure or pedicure. The gel was not done neatly and started to peel after a couple of days. This was my second and last time trying Vicky's.

Just for the cleanliness it gets 5 stars, Super Clean, all the covid safety measures are in place and they went above and beyond. Staff are very friendly and do a good job. Rina Alfonso: I made a same day appointment and they were able to take me without any waiting time. The service was typical of a nail salon, with no particularly special differences. They have a good selection of colors, though I did notice a few women bring their own in. The same person did both my pedicure and manicure, and overall did a neat job and was quick without being careless or feeling rushed. While there is nothing particularly exceptional, I would go back again.

I love this place they have everything you need to make beautiful nails and eyelashes. This store has so many professional nail products to prepare you for State Board examination. Mannequins hands Kiara Sky DND stocked with products in all sizes to do pedicure acrylic nails sculptured nails gel nails. Rhinestones beads glitter drill bits nail stickers the list goes on. They are open to the public no license required. Simply put NAIL HEAVEN with Wonderful workers that will help you at any time. I travel almost 1hr just to shop here. No place like it!

JessSoul1395 (JessSoul1395): Only place that I have found that sells to anyone. It is very difficult to learn anything regarding cosmetology when everyone sells to a specific crowd. I don't have to wait for things to come in the mail from online. Everything that you need is right here. From nails, hair, estheticians, you name it!

Passion Coates: Gave 4 stars because I was followed around multiple times by the people who worked there. It was almost like they were in my way it was that bad. Catherine McAdoo: New to the area and I love this store! Lots of items to choose from. Kiara Sky is one of my favorite brands and they have everything by them! Prices are reasonable compared to other places that I’ve been in the DMV. Some of the staff is extremely polite while others not so much but I wouldn’t shop at another nail supply store!

Camille Dykes: I love this place! It's the only place I go to get my nails done, specifically with my favorite nail tech, Lovely. She's the best! She's kind, efficient, and does a great job. Lovely does it all: regular mani, gel, dip powder and pedicures. I've been seeing her for 3+ years and don't know what I'd do without her. All of the staff at Dupont Nails is great. They have quick service and treat everyone with respect. It is a super popular place and they occasionally have a wait, but it's worth it. They offer complimentary wine, water, or tea with every service and they work hard to make sure you're satisfied with your visit. Their services are warrantied for a few days, so if your polish happens to chip, they'll gladly fix it at no charge.

Savanna Nikole: Best nails ive ever had! We made appointments arrived earlier than expected (traveling) by about 30min they took us and the lady i had was magnificent! She took her time, explained everything, and NOT one nail was Crooked!!!! She never tried to pressure me into "better products" she offered, i said no thank you and she kept on with her work. If i lived in the area i would never go elsewhere. Fyi: its a very small tight space but they honestly do make the best of it, when i first walked down there my anxiety went crazy but they offered wine and everyone was very organized and polite.

Rikki Miller: Had the great luck of getting Sam on my first trip to Dupont Nails. Have now seen her twice and am absolutely in love with her attention to detail and sunshiney personality. I loved the color on her nail when I visited this weekend, and she was kind enough to go find the bottle to paint my nails the same color instead of what I had picked out. I also had the misfortune of two broken nails- one broken down the center, and she knew exactly how to fix them and make them look beautiful despite the short length. I have my next appointment scheduled and cannot wait to see her again. She is truly the best!

Maddiw215: The SNS selection was only maybe 50 colors, and the manicure was the worst I’ve had in DC. Multiple nails are different lengths and the polish is uneven at the base on multiple nails. The reason I give them two stars is because the nail technician was willing to try and make it right but really it was unsalvageable.

Tamika Hunter: Tina was my nail tech she took her time to repair someone else's past mistake. I had a great convo with Che Che n Lady Lovely . My experience was like walking into a Paul Mitchell or Aveda spa and salon. Oh and the glass of wine was well needed. I will definitely be back.

Pamela Agava: The technician was nice and courteous and did a great pedicure but was horrible at shaping and doing overlay for my hands. When I asked for a new person she begged me to let her finish and assured she was going to make it right. End of story, I left with her drawing blood through careless use of the tools on three different fingers and a nail overlay that looks like a five year old did it. All I can say is beware here—there are qualified techs and obvious novices. This place takes the relaxation out of services because you have to watch everything until you’re certain what kind of tech you have.

Diana Moreno: The only place where gel nails have lasted up to 4 weeks! Have visited other places and getting my nails done have not been the same. All the girls and the gents are great but my very most favorite has been Jessica. She can give the best manicure Ever! All are very friendly and you can get wine to drink while getting your nails done. No better place in DC.

s Harrington: I’m sorry but this place looks worst in person literally and on the door it says sale but it’s a lie. She literally tried to charge me 30 dollars for outre spring twist hair…. Outrageous

Briana H.: Sadly my experience with this shop was pretty stereotypical. The older woman tending to the shop was nice and willing to help, but the “help” did not feel genuine. She was able to help me find perm rods, which were hidden under lots of other merchandise, but basically didn’t leave my side while I was browsing for the other things I needed. Also, curly girls beware, they sold me fake JBCO. It’s sold in a Jamaican Mango & Lime bottle, but you can tell it’s fake by the oil’s consistency, smell, and color.

Yes, the store is a bit messy, but the owner knows where everything is and she is patient while you make your selection. I enjoyed my experience and I will be going back for my future haircare needs!

I will admit this store does needs help in being organized, as The owner is an older woman who is running a business alone with no help. I agree with earlier reviews, DC residents (NOT ALL) have a strong tendency to be impatient and even rude to those who are serving/helping them. The store is too small for an attitude/Impatience when you can either shop online or find business else where.

I quickly addressed the situation and walked out. If I could give this place no stars I would but I would never spend a dime in this place.

She wasnt always this cluttered trust me but she always had the braiding hair that was hard to find back in the "day". I recently stopped in to get crochet hair but she helped me pick out a bomb bright blonde track hair that matched my existing crochet hair she made a suggestion and I took it and I have gotten so many compliments!! I'm going back to her for more of the hair because I cant find it anywhere online!! Yes it's only her and she can only have a few people at a time for fear of theft I'm sure but she was not rude and she is a senior. Maybe it was a bad day she maybe on medication that make people grouchy or she may need to retire.

Caitlin Peace: I was super wary about coming here because of the reviews but it was last minute and the closest place to where I work. Ann is so nice! Don’t let the front of the store freak you out. She’s got a ton of inventory in there but knows where everything is! She made sure everything matched too. The whole experience took less than 10 minutes. Take a chance!

Jacob Gough: I go to this shop once or twice a year and have done so for the past 5 or 6 years. This place is small and over stocked feeling, however she is very helpful and sweet. She knows where everything is and will help you find your perfect wig. I don't use products so i do not know the quality but the wigs are great and hold up over time if treated well. She works very hard to keep this small store in business and I think everyone should go. The prices are great and she will make a deal with you too. Keep in mind that she does limit the amount of customers in her store at a time to two or three people. This isn't because she's mean, it's because the store is full of inventory and it's the only way She can besure you are helped. Also the selection of wigs isn't limited to one or two styles or colors. She has fun wigs for sporting events or parties, fake hair or real hair, clip ins, and so much more to choose from. Don't let others discourage you from checking this store out, go for yourself. We need to help our small local businesses remain open. I would be sadden if she closed her shop as i rather go to her than amazon. You know the condition of the wigs in her shop are better than the oneline or party store's. You will need to buy a wig cap that's $1 or $2 this is to be sure no lice or other stuff you carry endup in the wig and passed to others. So be prepared to pay that if you want to try on wigs. So go see this lady and her shop and have fun!!

Moe Moe: This is only my second time coming to this salon so I am still very new. First time it was just for eyebrow wax. This time I thought I get a regular pedicure as well. Let me first say I scheduled appointment online with two different people one for eyebrow wax and another person for pedicure but i did not get that. So that seemed weird but I wasn’t going to make a big deal about it as long as they did a good job. Anyways I never get pedicures i usually do my feet at home to be honest with regular nail polish. I have never had gel so I am unfamiliar with it. I signed up for a regular pedicure online and when I arrived they asked me to pick my color which i did off the shelf. Everything was fine until checkout when they tried to charge me for a gel pedicure. Technician applied the color I selected, she applied a clear coat nail polish on top and dried with a drier which I thought was standard. It did not look like a gel as far as I know and nor did I ever ask for gel nor did she mention she was using a gel. Again I am not a regular with pedicures at salons so this is still all new to me. I did let her know when she kept putting the drier on my feet I was concerned bc it kept touching my actual nails and I thought it may be messing up the polish she was applying. So maybe she decided to switch to gel at this point? I don’t know I wasn’t paying attention. Or if I selected a gel nail polish by accident and did not realize it if so it would have been nice if would she would have pointed this out to me as I definitely did not want gel. But at checkout I was about to be charged for gel. I explained nicely to the receptionist I did not ask for gel I asked for a regular pedicure so this was a mistake. I actually have never had gel. I’m not sure if she was mad at me or the technician for making the mistake and not communicating with me properly but when I mentioned this she came back with attitude. It just made me feel uncomfortable for even mentioning it. I was just trying to being honest and not get charged for something I did not ask for. Soraya H: Went a week ago because I was in the neighborhood & got a regular dip nail manicure, no acrylic tips. Two nails have chipped and one dip powder base has fallen off. I don’t know what happened to this place in the last couple of years. It used to be so nice & I would always walk out happy. The manicurist who did my nails was kind, shaped them well, I don’t know why they chipped and fell off.

Stephanie Enaje: This place is going downhill. Maybe it’s the lack of staff. But, they attempt to take walk-ins while knowingly having appointments set. Just say you can’t. There are dozens of nail salons in the area. The owner says “come back in 30 mins” for an eyebrow wax. I come back in 30 mins only to be IGNORED. Then, once I spoke up I was told to wait. GET IT TOGETHER!

Christina Ospina: This place was perfectly acceptable for a quick and affordable ($17 regular nail polish manicure) and the service is friendly, though I'm not sure this will be my go-to establishment. The interior felt like it could really use a little TLC (it was decently clean but had no real style and looked rough around the edges). COVID-wise, they have clear paneling between you and the manicurist. Perhaps more importantly, my nails chipped within the next day, and I've had longer lasting non-gel polishes from other locations.

Kate Couturier: I got great lengths hair extensions at INARI. I absolutely LOVE the extensions and had the best experience with Santos. I have extremely thin hair and had some not great experiences with tape-ins previously, so I was a bit nervous, but really wanted longer, thicker hair for my wedding. Santos was very knowledgeable and helpful in making the right choices for my hair type and really took his time putting them in to make sure they were perfect. He went above and beyond to get the most length and fullness possible. I couldn’t believe how perfect the color matched my hair, how long we were able to go, and how natural they look! I have never loved my hair so much, and it was exactly what I wanted for my wedding, which never would have been possible without the extensions! They have also lasted a very long time. Overall, INARI is one of the nicest salons I’ve been to, and Santos was so fun to work with and did an amazing job! Service: Hair extensions

Shaila Huq: Eva is a master of her craft and a really bubbly, fun personality. I’ve been feeling really self conscious as my short hair grew out, and as soon as I saw the color match in my consultation, I knew I was going to enjoy the end results. It is a luxury experience, so know going into your consultation that you’re paying an appropriate price for a quality product and expert service. These extensions are the Great Lengths type, so minimal damage and a 5-6 month wear time with proper care. After 48 of keeping it dry, you can treat it and style it like it’s your own hair! The one note as someone who’s never had any type of extensions in is that it’s weird to get used to feeling the bond areas while sleeping, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it ☺️ Services: Hair extensions , Hairstyling

Josi Giovinazzo: Emily was my stylist and did an amazing job. I wanted to add more volume and length to my fine hair. My hair tends to break so I just cut it and haven’t had length in a long time. She used an ultrasonic machine to bond the keratin bonds in the gentlest way as it doesn’t provide so much heat. I’m a runner and in dental school so I put my hair up a lot, so she strategically placed the extensions to not show in a pony tail! On top of the excellent care, the extensions they get are ethically sourced from Great Lengths. The proceeds go to the local Indian group that provides the hair and they donate to local charities. Eric T: Didn't think I would be leaving a bad review to Sephora, but here I am. The guy that helped me was extremely helpful, but *refused* to give me a sample of a product, saying that it was due to COVID. But then, I asked my friend that was a girl to ask for a sample, and they gave two to her, no questions asked, of the exact same product. They choose which customers they do and don't like. Thought it rude and pretty discriminatory. Wouldn't come back.

My normal vendor had a delay in my shipment and my customer had appointment so I purchased 5 bundles of 30inch Brazilian hair $400 from their Human Hair Wall, While installing this hair into my clients head I found HAIR FILLERS of plastic in the hair. The plastic look stretched to emulate human hair but the person stopped stretching it and the plastic got stuck in the shape in the photos! I loss money I had to inform my customer of the situation and offer a huge discount because this store is dishonest about their human hair it’s nothing but Blend hair made to look human 😭 I will contact my bank to see if I can get a full refund or partial because they say no refunds at this store!

mconselor Helpful: I agree with other comments there are rude workers, but there are also nice employees that assisted me (when I asked). They have a good selection of hair. They aren't as helpful as the other one next to Rose's but they did have a great selection. I did have to use some chose words for the women ring me up because she was taking her time, mumbling something to another worker but the girls helping with wigs were helpful (again I had to ask, and I'm nice about it). I will keep going because it's not like others treated us better for decades and we are going to help them be better while keeping the dollar in our neighborhoods. I got a unique dusty rose blonde wig.

Ariel Parker: I would have given it 4 stars but the customer service is slipping. The women store associates are highly annoying. They seem to want to be in competition with the original locals. It states black owned, but not all people are kinsfolk that's for sure! The head man (possibly the owner) well versed on black hair care needs. Pretty sharp on hair extensions knowledge as well!

Jane Doe: I usually enjoy my experience with this shop but I was disappointed that compensation was not provided when an item I was purchasing rang up differently than the label it was placed under. Usually stores will honor the price that was listed but the woman at the register only gave the explanation that “prices are going up” and offered no way to make the situation right. The listed price in the store was also different than what I had seen online. This is not good customer service at all and I unfortunately will not be purchasing with this establishment going forward. Please make sure all pricing listed both in store and online reflect the actual cost of the item!

The “lady behind the counter” who served you was the owner and told you “I appreciated you bringing the $1 price difference to my attention.” Here is a brief account of the experience: after your transaction was complete you mentioned the price on the floor was different from what rung up at the registered. I mentioned prices are increasing because in light of the recent changes in the economy many prices are changing and are routinely updated as new inventory is received from our suppliers. (Given that we have hundreds of products in the store we do miss a tag here or there.) I grabbed all the bonnet labels from the floor to research the price difference as you proceeded to leave the store. As you left the store you mentioned the price on the website was also different. I kindly explained that the item you viewed on the website was a “Regular” size bonnet, in-store you purchased the “Jumbo”. (If you revisit our website you will see both listed at a different price on the drop-down menu.) You then replied you were “just letting you know”! I thanked you and you left the store. (I assumed you didn’t want to stay as I resolved the issue, which is understandable because we all have busy schedules.) After you left I researched and correct the price difference. I also refunded the $1 difference back to the gift card you paid with. If you check the transaction history you will find a credit for $1.06 (tax included) returned for the price difference. I apologize for not clarifying prior to you leaving the store. Please know that at Envy Us Beauty Supply we pride ourself on providing excellent customer service. Corrie Dinkins: I called myself trying to patronize a black owned business, but my experience with the staff was very distasteful. I definitely would not recommend, especially if your not willing to purchase over priced items, on top of that, the staff isn’t helpful with locating prices or basic questions. would not recommend. the gentleman made me and my sister feel very unwelcome and unwanted and if it hadn’t been an emergency I would’ve taken my business else where. The sly remarks and horrible attitude made my experience a bad one. it’s a shame when you try and support other melanites and get treated the same way we stress about everyday…. Do better

Sarah Bowman: Ms Aesha, the owner, is a joy. Her customer service is impeccable! She helped me by selecting products that fit my budget for my local high school's health closet for children in need. Just yesterday I heard from the school. These products allowed the school to expand and diversify their outreach. In fact, one child was very excited to have access to products he was familiar with and enjoyed using. Not only were the products affordable but the packaging was perfect to make sure nothing leaked in transit. Her attention to detail was amazing. amira carney: I have only been to this beauty supply store one time about a 8 ago (normally go to a salon and mind my business) but I’ve messed around and learned how to do my own box braids over quarentine with some hair I got from them. Long story short, I when I used the hair I thought of the good experience I had there 8 months later. That’s definitely worthy of an online review! Alexis Samuel: Cant believe I'm just finding this place. Black owned and honestly one of the most reasonably priced with the best selection ive ever seen in a store of its size. Its not huge, but it has ALL the essentials. I was most impressed by their wig selection. I would estimate about 20-40 wigs to choose from, but I would have purchased over half of them. I frequently go to Beauty4U and cant find a single quality wig for work that hits the style nor price point I think is appropriate. But these were so great for professional women. I also must say the lady working there was so pleasant and nice and helpful. It was just a noticeably nicer experience than ive ever had before in other beauty supply stores. (Sorry I cant remember her name but it began with an L...... I think)

Rebecca von dem Hagen: For $57, you get a polish change that does not include a “manicure”. I got my nails done (dip) 2 days ago and they’re already grown out because they didn’t cut my cuticles. I called and confirmed that it was not a mistake. This has been my go to spot since they opened but I will not be going back.

Kaelah Horwath: I will never be back. First, I had an appointment which I was 10 minutes early for, and they took 2 walk ins in that time before me and I had to wait. Then, Tracy cut the corner of my big toe. It was bleeding and she just kept trying to cut off the skin. Then sprayed alcohol directly on it and tried to say I already had a cut on my toe. I was supposed to get a full set. I asked for coffin, and Tracy said no almond will look better. Ok fine so I get almond. They were all completely crooked, and uneven not symmetrical. I tried to say this and asked for her to fix them. She got mad and said I’m wasting her time. Another worker came over and said yes they are crooked fix it. After fixing all of the crooked ones they did not match each other and looked like stiletto, super pointy and thin. I said this is not almond I don’t want this. She said I will have to pay to have them taken off. She starts cutting them violently and hurting my fingers. Services: Acrylic nails , Pedicures , Gel manicure , Manicures

Mariona Franklin: Seems like a really nice place, so I booked over a week ahead for a full set acrylics and a pedicure. Got there to find a line of 3 other people waiting for a nail tech (at least one of them also had an appointment) and all of the 8 employees were already busy taking care of customers and estimated at least a 30 minute wait… I asked if they would make an exception and cancel my appointment so I could go elsewhere and they agreed. Seems like they do great work, but don’t count on actually getting your nails done even if you have an appointment.

Sabrina Farmer: I had an absolutely lovely experience! I booked through ClassPass and everyone was super nice. My gel pedicure looks great.

Fanise Cannon: My go to nail place in MTVN triangle! Love how they do my nails! Only downside is that you will usually end up spending a couple hours in there but can’t complain when my nails come out looking so good! Great salon!

Carolina Reid: I usually call ahead to check how busy they are so I know I won't be waiting too long,Space is extremely delicate decoration! Definitely will be back to visit,This is the perfect place to treat yourself!

Instead they tried to have someone else do my nails that messed my nails up prior. Never returning to this terrible nail bar.

Kayla Bruce: FELLOW BLACK WOMEN, BLACK PEOPLE, and HOWARD FAMILY, DO NOT EVER SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. I came to Crystal Beauty Supply to patronize a local business and as I went to check out my $20 worth of products, I was accused by the supposed store owner of stealing $3 worth of items. I shook down my coat, showed the contents of my pockets, offered to be checked, and even asked if we could watch back his cameras. Instead, my family and I were aggressively and loudly yelled at and approached by the men running the store as they forced us out. Plainly, this is discrimination. I asked why they would accuse me of theft and they said it was because "I looked suspicious". As black women being the main consumers of beauty supply stores, helping support the businesses of non-black people of color, we should be treated with the utmost respect. You come into our communities and thrive because of us so as storeowners, it is your responsibility to do better. Please stand in solidarity with black women and NEVER shop here again. There are bigger and better beauty supply stores within 8 minutes of this one. This experience was saddening and triggering and the store owners made it clear to me that they don't care if I leave a bad review or call the police, because they're used to seeing the voices of black women ignored by society and they don't think we'll have an impact. Let's prove them wrong.

Nelle Nelle: Great prices, decent selection. Chill & chatty manager/owner. Respectful. They don't rush you or heckle you while you're shopping. I never have a problem when I come here. This is the spot to grab braiding hair, skincare products, makeup, costume jewelry, etc. but the wigs are very limited. For everything else you will find what you're looking for! Screw Sally's THIS is a beauty supply store. They make Arlington liveable. Thumps up.

Jana Baylor: A friend of mine had a TERRIBLE experience at this beauty supply. She was searched and aggressively asked to leave after the owner accused her of looking "suspicious" when she only went to purchase eyelashes. She even asked for them to check the cameras and not only did they refuse but had security escort her and her family out. Crazy thing is, she doesn't even live in VA, so as a recently graduated Howard alum, it is surprising she came off at suspicious when she was only visiting for a day. This is NOT how you run a beauty supply store, meant to cater to Black beauty. This was an extremely anti-Black experience and I hope other Black folks aren't stereotyped in the same fashion when trying to support THEIR business.

Toni Walton: This establishment racially profiled my sisters in a false accusation of stealing $3 lashes. Not okay. The owners have chosen to work in an African American dominant industry and somehow still choose to be prejudice. The one star is exaggerating this experience. Do and be better.

Stacy Lemery: I easily spent an hour or two in this Sephora today. I couldn't decide between foundation shades, and I just needed to sample, compare, and consider, over and over and over. Nobody was bothered by me, and nobody bothered me. The staff weighed in when *I* finally asked - when I couldn't decide between the final two foundations. I spent more time and money there than I meant to, but that's what happens when a shopping environment gives you the freedom to explore the options on your own until you the customer ask for help. A million stars.

C.R. Franklin: Andrew helped me find my usual tinted moisturizer and a new mascara for statement eyes (Monsieur Big). He gave me suggestions on how to use Nars’ Orgasm X and how to mask-proof my makeup. So helpful, and what a sweet guy! Store was immaculate as Sephoras generally are, and there are lots of new products on display. I will be shopping this location again.

Melina Foust: This was my first time visiting this salon and I had a great experience! Nothing spectacular but slightly exceeded my expectations. I got a basic pedicure and gel manicure and was pleased with both. Everything was professional and clean and my nails turned out really nice! My manicurist was thoughtful and quiet, which I honestly prefer when getting my nails done. They also had lots of color options. We made an appointment prior to going, which I would suggest as well given that there weren’t too many people in the shop available and the people before and after us also had appointments, so walk-ins might have a tough time getting seated.

Moshi B: I walked into this salon to get 1 nail fixed. The guy at the desk asked me 1st what do I need to get done. When I told him what I needed, he stated, you need to have an appointment. Why wasn’t that the 1st question you asked me when I walked in? I told him I just needed to get 1 nail fixed and why couldn’t one of the ladies sitting in the window help me? He said because they have appointments. As I am sitting in my car they are still sitting in the same spot on their phones. I mean how long does 1 nail take? I honestly feel discriminated! This place never has business and I see why.

Diana Valentine: First off, you have to wear a mask here even though all the employees have theirs pulled down or hanging off their ears. My friend and I were halfway through our services when we were asked to put masks on (we didn’t see the sign). Then, I got a SNS manicure, but not without getting my existing SNS powder off first. It took the tech ~30 minutes to get it off — not sure if this was wrongdoing on her part or not. My nails don’t look great, it was done very sloppily. The nail tech was however very friendly. Olympian Trucking & Logistics: Critical: QualityPaid for a gel pedicure. Gel polish shouldn’t smear or be lumpy. However this is my gel pedicure a day later. Terrible products for a high price!Service: Pedicures

Gleice Zanettin de Marrocos: There is no pattern. The first time was great and today was terrible.Very poor service which make it more than expensive.I did a lavander pedicure and the girl did not even cleaned my under nails, and I can not even explain show she did the mani. Kimberly Fox: I booked the number 12 special, a detox twist pedicure and gel manicure for $103. I arrived on time and they were able to get me in quickly call me even though I had scheduled an appointment. I explain to the lady what I wanted and showed her a picture and she seemed annoyed. I decided to modify my request and only do one accent nail at that point. She did a good job but on my accent nail, instead of painting the base white to make the color pop, she painted it red. When she painted the blue over it, it appears more black than blue, as the picture shows and as I wanted. I was in led to the manicure station, where she explained that she had an appointment and another technician would be taking over. I showed her the picture several times so that she understood what I wanted and explained it. Immediately after she put acetone on my nails to remove the Polish, another lady came around to tell me to wear a mask call me even though I had been there for over an hour with that one and several other people had as well. I've been spilled nail polish remover on my shoulder and my dress. My fingernails look nothing like my toenails. But she actually drew two lines on one side and three on the other until they corrected her to make them look symmetrical. When I went up front to pay, I was appalled that they tried to charge me $35 more than the price I was quoted online. He explained to me that it does not say in the pricing that a gel pedicure is part of it only a gel manicure, even after I pulled up the website. I told him that was a deceptive business practices and they should correct the website but he said that due to limited space thing and descriptions he was unable to do so. I mentioned I was more than happy to pay for the small design I got but I thought that was a little ridiculous. I ended up leaving two hours later even though my service was quoted as being 90 minutes long. I was late for an event and missed it all together. Rachael Hill: I've been looking for a good nail salon since I moved to DC and decided to try InStyle Nail Bar after getting 2 disappointing manicures at the salon right next to my apartment. Long story short, my search will continue. In the moment, the service seemed fine (not exceptional, but good enough) and they seemed to do a pretty good job with my nails. Once I got home, I realized that they didn't properly buff the clear dip powder off and the speckles are showing through the gel top coat (which doesn't last as long as the dip top coat, but that's another story for another day...) as seen in the pictures I attached. I decided to just deal with it and move on until later that evening, one of my nails chipped. If you don't already know... dip is hard to chip. But it did, so I made an appointment the next day to go back and get it fixed. Fast forward 24 hours and I show up to the salon, tell them I have an appointment at 5:45, and they proceed to tell me that I have no appointment (I showed them my confirmation email, they didn't really care) and I can come back tomorrow. Problem is I'm leaving town tomorrow for Thanksgiving so that's not an option, but now no one is available to fix my nails until 7 pm. Which means either waiting around for an hour or walking 15 minutes back to my apartment, sitting around for half an hour, and walking 15 minutes back to get my nails fixed. As if I have nothing better to do with my Monday evening, the night before I leave town for a week. I have about 25 more minutes to kill before I go back and get my nails fixed, but unless some miracle happens at 7 pm, I think it's safe to say I won't be going back. I guess I'll keep looking for a decent salon in southwest DC, because this one isn't worth my $100. I gave 2 stars because to be fair, the salon is very nice and clean.

George Worrell Style: My first visit two weeks ago was wonderful! Today was totally opposite. My nail tech rushed through my pedicure and my manicure! She cut my cuticle way too fast and cut me twice…! So deeply my finger started bleeding. She barely said was sorry and kept working while putting alcohol on the cut! While paying I mentioned how my experience was to the gentlemen at the front desk. He provided a very poor I’m sorry. I will never go back to the establishment! Services: Pedicures , Manicures

Alexa Van Anne: I’ve been going here for years and they always do an amazing job. Quality services, a clean salon, and polite staff. They are busy a lot so sometimes it’s hard to get a last minute spot but usually they will find a way to accommodate. Love them!
