Washington Sports Clubs - DuPont Circle: what do users think?

Jesse Bacon: I was in town three days for a conference and needed a gym to workout in… when we asked about daily passes the staff was super friendly and helpful in allowing me and a colleague to utilize the facility… I was able to complete all of my CrossFit workouts for the three days I was there. The facility was spacious and had everything we needed. Would totally recommend to anyone in the area looking for a gym home or those passing though on business. I’ll visit again whenever I’m in the area.

J Heather: Very friendly front desk staff and cleaning staff. Location is well maintained (cleanliness and equipment). The location can get crowded especially during rush hours (around lunch and at the end of the day). The other WSC nearby shutdown so their members automatically transferred to this location. Bathroom/lockers may be spotty at times but it depends on the time of the day. They offer membership discounts if you sign up in person (just a warning regarding the annual fee- they cannot waive it).

Washington Sports Clubs - Glover Park: what do users think?

My Comment: Great neighborhood gym. Staff there -- Mahlape, Olga, Luis -- who are there in the mornings are friendly and quick to help if you have questions. You get a neighborhood vibe from the place as compared to the nameless big gyms. Especially during the pandemic you can see the extra effort they put in to keep the place clean, open, and welcoming. They make you feel part of a family. Glad to be a Glover Park member.

Jason Yeung: Been a member for several months now. I’ve haven’t had a negative experience with team members. The people that workout here are also very respectful and friendly. In response to a negative review of a team member I wanted to share my experience with her. Towards me, she’s always been friendly and hospitable. She does her best to remember everyone by name and notices when your workout buddy isn’t with you, even to the point of asking if they’re ok. The lack of a 5th star is not because of the staff. I wish there were bumper plates, another squat rack, and high quality barbells. That’s most likely a corporate issue.

Ricardo Martinez: I must disagree with a previous review. Malape is a value member of the gym, she is courteous, polite and nice in general. If there is a piece of equipment that is behind the desk, she would gladly point it to me so I can grab it (due to COVID). Luis is another great asset to the gym, he always looks to have everything ready and clean for us to workout early in the morning, always say hi with a smile and good attitude. I am appreciative of their work.

John Byrne: This is a great sports club with a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. Mahlape has always been an incredible asset -- friendly, professional and knowledgeable -- and Luis keeps everything extremely clean. The club was renovated a few years ago, and there is great equipment and a lot of space. Also, very easy to get to on Wisconsin Avenue.

Alexandre B. Sagna: I love ❤️ being part of Washington Sport Club Glover Park. The whole staff is friendly 😊. Brought two of my buddies to train with me and they loved it. Yes it’s tiny that’s true so if you don’t like being close to each other I recommend not to come around pick time 😊.

Joao Pedro: Very friendly staff and great customer service! I also want to kindly disagree with what was said in the latest review since I believe that the “older black woman”, as she was referred, is actually a valuable member and a very nice person who contributes a lot to the gym with her nice work. I only have great words to say about the whole team that works there. The gym is always super clean. The machines are well maintained, and there’s a good number of ergs, so I don’t have to wait to do my cardio.

Will Wu: Great budget gym in Glover Park. Been a member for almost a year and never had any problems with them. Would recommend

Vinicio Aguirre: Wsc Glover is a gym that I highly recommend to the neighborhood or anyone looking to go have a good workout. It’s had major changes since the original Covid transitions. The people there are welcoming and enthusiastic when it comes to its members. If you are an individual that is somewhat of a germaphobe, there is an employee by name of Shanica who works hard keeping the cleanliness of the gym to its highest standards. She makes sure the antibacterial wipes are always stocked and the workout rooms as well as mats are cleaned daily. Overall I believe you come to the gym you’ll agree with my review.

Bernard Holland: I have not been to WSC Glover Park since the pandemic and plan to rejoin when things quiet down. Before that I was there most days for ten years. The elderly black woman Lizzie was referring to is Mahlape who has been there for more than 20 years. Mahlape is the glue that holds that club together. All the people I know that attended the club adored Mahlape. I cannot imagine her being rude undeservedly to anyone. Moreover I have seen a few altercations between staff and members in my time at the club. Invariably it was the members who were at fault.

Conor O'Reilly: I had a personal training session with Phil and he did a great job! He taught me a lot about free weights and stretching. Now I feel more comfortable to use the more advanced equipment. They also have a pool, sauna, and basketball court. Love this place

Mahvash Edrissi: I started going to gym a month ago, first it was difficult to come out after so long time lock down. But after few days I got used to it now i want to go there everyday. Friendy staff, and clean place, and all equipment makes this place great. I do my exercise, take a shower and saunas, afterwards I feel great about myself. Thank you wsc

Bobbi DeAnda: This is THE coolest park ever! I wish i had this park as a kid! There’s an AMAZING little kid park with a soft surface and big kid park and SWINGS! There’s so few parks in the city with swings - but there’s three kinds here. Also a big field with workout equipment, tennis court, basketball court, and the pool!

David Andrew Finkelstein: Awesome pool. Good mix of adults and families come here but I have always been able to find a chair even at peak times. Much prefer it to Banneker. Street parking can be annoying but it’s usually not too bad.

Annegret Hünerfürst: Best playground of all I went to with my 2 kids. Very spacious and a lot to explore. Swings for every age.

Luisa Parra: This is great playground for small and big kids! You can also go for a jog around it. Definitely a great spot to go with kids or even by yourself.

Brett Syndergaard: This is the place to play some pick up ultimate fris. Scoober up broheim!

Caleb P: The playground areas are great. The little kid playground area is not shaded, but the rest are. The gardens surrounding the park are all over run with weeds. Too bad, cause I bet they were gorgeous when the park was new. Pool odd only open weekdays and Saturdays after 12.

Entertainment & Sports Arena: what do users think?

Summer M: Great atmosphere, but wish the food options were better and the arena was slightly bigger. The comcast center was too big for them but I feel this arena is too small for them. It leaves no opportunity for the franchise to grow in the amount of people that come to games. They could definitely be selling more tickets especially with the sold out games.

Robert Rains: Visited here for an AEW wrestling television show in January. It’s a beautiful facility that does not feel too daunting. The restrooms were clean and there were plenty of exits in case of an emergency. Unfortunately, this complex exists pretty far from downtown DC, so if you’re leaving an event ending late in the evening have a plan for getting home.

Jeff Lucarelli: Such a great venue to see AEW!!

Bethelehem Yirga: I’ve gone to the Arena twice now - once for the Mystics Championship Game and for the Global Mixed Gender Basketball. Both games were great experiences - and packed. The feel of the DC community is strong at the arena, and I love the serving of Hennessy at the bars. The arena gives you the feel of home in a polished, professional space. Excited to attend more events at this space.

Mrs. O'Neal: Ok! Can we say AWESOME! From the shuttle ride to the concessions everything was on point! Seats are cool, section 200 is on a major incline I don’t recommend this to folks with babies! But not a bad seat in the house! Can’t wait to go back for another event! My recommendation if you do use the shuttle leave a tad early free your event so you don’t have to wait long for a ride back to the car!

dionne davis: Awesomeness! Mystic Ladies represented

F E Downey: This is a gym, not a fitness center/spa. Front desk and support staff (Jessie, Hugo, Jose, and Sondra) are exceptional. They push 110% everyday and members appreciate and respect the high quality service they provide. Pete Mitec is a very knowledgeable personal trainer manager at this location. His personal training staff that I know (Ahmad, Adrian and Mike) are also knowledgeable and credentialed. Problem is training staff seem to be instructed by the Washington Sports organization NOT to assist club members UNLESS they sign up for private, personal training lessons. Sad, because often club members can be seen doing exercises incorrectly and no trainer is available on the gym floor to advise them that they might be injuring themselves. When personal trainers do not have private clients, the Washington Sports organization appears to instruct the trainers to stay in the staff offices, where they can be seen either talking with friends/clients or surfing the internet. It appears no daily, personal assistance to club members is included in the monthly membership fee (except for the annual fitness evaluation). Often on Sunday afternoons or evenings, there is NO personal trainer on site. Scary, if someone should injures him/herself. There are some serious club members working out here. Club members are polite and respectful of others. No attitude here. Refreshing and always challenging place to work out!

K A: I walked in to create an account and to inquire about the aquatic center. The employee I spoke with at the activities desk was very friendly and courteous making the process seamless and also I was able to take a tour of the facility. It’s a very big and decent facility with various activities such as the fitness center, indoor track, gymnastics and athletic fields. I haven’t used the pool yet but I still highly recommend. Good Service✅ Very Friendly And Courteous Staff✅ ♿️Wheelchair Accessible Entrance✅ 🚻Restroom ♿️Wheelchair Accessible Parking Lot✅

Mark Eldridge: Impressive, modern facilities. We attended for a gymnastics competition. They have each piece of apparatus in duplicate. The organization of spectators was efficiently managed, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Walter Holmes: Clean, organized, a lot activities, and just a gem. I love this place.

David Dufresne: Nice facility. We were there for state track. Championships.

Jack Burton: We went to get my 11 y/o son his first COVID shot. The process was smooth, glad to finally see our tax dollars in action!!

Jack Harris: Nice layout...clean...awesome police personnel for the track and field events.

David Gershman: Today I signed up and had a great experience. Mike, in membership, not only showed me around- they answered every question with full clarity, gave me far more insight than I expected, and was simply very nice and sweet. I knew I was going to get a membership going in, but it’s nice to get warmth and comfort instantly upon arrival. Felt like I was one of the regular folks

TPMT Associates: Love it here as usual - they take care of the place and most importantly, the people who works out here take care of the place and is clean and tidy and doesn’t trash the place. As usual, it’s the people who come to gyms that are the messy/dirty and this place doesn’t have those ppl - not that I saw anyways!

John Heinemann: You get what you pay for. This gym doesn’t make sense for everyone, no one is a better person for going here, and a free gym in an apartment building is going to do 90% of what Equinox does. But the other 10%? I actually look forward to working out more when there’s both a sauna and a steam room, a saltwater pool, luxury bath products, memory foam floors for stretching, and refrigerators full of Eucalyptus infused face towels. I go for the amenities, and then I just decide to work out because I’m already there.

Razorfendown: Small park. But a great place to do my daily run. Grass was soft and reduced the impact to my joints that i often get from running on the road.

Malaika M: During the week is the best time to use the track. If you are lucky, you get to have the field to yourself except for a couple of runners popping in. During the weekends the centre is a little Crowded with everything from tennis players, runners, soccer and football players. This place also has a kids play area.

Shadawn Duncan: I take my son to the playground there. He goes to play, I play tennis and then we take a walk around the field. The perfect place for us.

Emmalynn “Big Gurl Lady E” Sharf: I loved how polite the staff are for one. On another note, i enjoy how the system is set up where you got alot of different options. One of my all time favorite is the computer lab. I have been only twice in here and its so quite i can enjoy myself more then a library.

jaynuze: The soccer fields are really nicely done and maintained. The playground is great for kids as well, though it is focused more for smaller kiddos.

CHARLOTTE CANTRELL: This Recreation center runs an excellent soccer camp! And the front desk staff are the friendliest. It is a sweet place and a bit of a hidden treasure.

Dan Rosenbush: Great place to work out that is free for DC residents. They have free weights, kettle bells, various machines, pull up bar, cardio machines, and a basketball court.

johnny Cash: Very nice

Jeannie Koulizakis: This is my favorite gym in the area. Great pool, great equipment, group classes, they validate parking, towel service. The only way it could be better is if I went as often as I should :)

Kyle Manning: Very clean facility with ample equipment and diversity. Staff is extremely courteous and helpfull.

O S: This is the kind of gym that you want to work out at. It is very spacious (2 floors with variety in equipment and training space), super clean, and has the latest up to date sports equipment. There are jugs of sanitizer throughout the gym. And there also are dispensers near all the pieces of equipment so you can clean them before and after you use them. The front desk staff are always super friendly and welcoming! They go out of their way, when they can. There are plenty of fitness classes and the instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. Management also rocks! I highly recommend this location and appreciate the staff’s kindness every day!

Gregory Smith: Small but great facility for swimming.

Edward Wendel: Great gym and great trainers. I have been using gym since its opening. I am now 81 (yes, I know, old). Have been training for several years with Razonte Dunn. He may be exceptional at training high performing athletes, but he also has a special gift for taking everyone seriously and taking them to the highest level they can achieve. He not only knows the mechanics of training, he communicates a desire to make you succeed that is contagious. This experience has been life-changing.

Asher Allman: Great gym at an affordable rate. Helpful and responsive staff, both in person trainers and with online/email inquiries. All the equipment you would need, and a really cool atmosphere/space. Big fan!

Rachael Hunt: I want to give 5 stars to Raz, one of the trainers. I’ve been working out with him in his group classes and it’s been a great experience. He is super enthusiastic and always plans engaging and effective workouts. He is a great motivator. If you are ready to push yourself, he’s the trainer for you.

Devon Murphy: Love this gym! Best gym in the area by far. My only recommendation would be to add mirrors in front of ALL the squat racks. It is beyond me why half would have mirrors and half do not.

Edward Heid: Clean facilities and they just repaired the mens locker room showers. Still need to fix the entry doors. My neighborhood pool so I love having a “free” pool I can walk to. Bring a lock for your locker, don’t tempt fate. Limited Lap Lanes Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 11:00am-12:30pm 5:30pm-8:30pm Tuesday & Thursday 9:00am-10:30am 5:30pm-8:30pm

Rebecca Oldfield-Frey: A great free municipal pool! Would I eat off the locker room floor? No. But they do a good job keeping the pool clean and between 80 and 83 degrees. I love having access to this space.

Ian Lever: Had a very good experience here on a Saturday morning. It was not too crowded and facilities were in pretty great shape. Nice to have a publicly accessible aquatic center in the neighborhood.

Kromeklia Bryant: I often go here to exercise during the week. Weekends can be busy. Avoid at all costs during the summer, unless you are a lap swimmer! Go early anytime before 10 am.

cat wu: Rating is base on a Wed. 6-8pm experience. Bathroom was in a very decent condition, floor was not dirty and has soap and paper. There were 4 lanes open even with the team practicing. Pool doesn’t have strong smell and with comfortable temperature. Hope this is not a one time thing.

Kyle D: Beautiful ballpark. Wide open concourses and plenty of good choices (very pricey though but that’s expected at at a ballpark no matter where you go.) Convenient location close to the Metrorail station. Coming from Boston, this ballpark doesn’t compare to the charm, history, and character of Fenway Park but it is nonetheless a great place to watch a game and it seemed like no matter where you sit, you have a great view.

M. Scott Zimmerman: Great view from almost all seats although smallish for 6ft 1 and 230lbs. Food adequate but pricey and varies in quality between vendors. Love the concourse round the main level and the diamond club is nice.

Cindy Luetkemeier: Great Game! We love the Nats even though they lost today, they put up a good fight!! Pizza was good & the beers were cold!

Christian Matlock: First time at this ball park. I didn’t have a ticket and didn’t know where to get one from. There was a helpful young lady at the front that walked me all the way around the stadium to help me get a ticket. Once I was in, someone greeted me from guest services and gave me a first time certificate and welcome pack. Such a great experience.

Juanita Barnes: I was there for Enchant, a winter display of lights. It also happened to be bring your dog night. Lots of people, cute and sweet, friendly dogs, hot coca, and vendors. Personally, it was nice and worth it, but a one and done kind of event for me.

Henry Garcia: Love the Stadium. And I love the atmosphere there! The people are so nice and the fans are very friendly.

Denise Odom: Great. I received my 2nd dose of Mederna vaccine. Everything flowed seamlessly. All the workers were nice and personable. I needed wheelchair assistance and had no problem getting one and having assistance pushing me around to where I had to go. Just an all around great professional experience. Made me feel at ease! Even the nurse that gave me the injection I barely felt. Kudos to Southern Regional.

Bellelay H.: Seem as though it was a really nice facility big, clean and lots of parking. I thought it very nice how the gym was setup with a nice variety of equipment. I went there for early voting. The volunteers that were there to assist with voting were friendly and helpful. They also had a lot of booths for voting. Let your voice be heard go out and vote.

Brownmagnus olivers: Wonderful complex with good equipment recreation activities

John Gilbert: Very nice complex. We were there to see the Wolfpack wheelchair BB games. They are from San Diego.

Sassy Sauce: This is a great playground and recreation center. The splash park is nice and has plenty for the kids to run around and splash in. There is a kiddie playground ideal for kids 2 and under. Then there is a larger playground for the bigger kids. It’s separate areas but close enough to watch kids on both if needed. There are tennis courts and basket ball courts. The area is generally clean but sometimes you’ll find adults who leave food and drinks on the ground and don’t clean up after themselves. I only give a 4 out of 5 because the place usually has trash on the outside of the play areas near the picnic tables

Steven Boyd: Splash pad and playground for kiddos in the city. Park service brought out dreamsicles too!

Melissa G: Really cool spot for the kids to play and get wet!!! We happened to see it passing by. My son enjoyed himself. 🙂

Eugenia Hernández Ruiz: Lately has been very dirty the playground area. If you go in the afternoon you will see ppl drinking, smoking (all) even having bb (not in the designated area) Is a pity, so many young kids, go there and to let all the dirt INSIDE BOTH playgrounds is just sad

Hernan Cortes: A cute park with good traffic and sizable proportions in a positive scale.

Juanita K: Took my 20 month old to the playground. She had a great time running around and climbing. Lots of things to do. Other children her age seemed to be enjoying themselves as well. The other parents there were friendly. My kid cried when it was time to go lol

HK: Loved the pool, but the locker room lacks most of the amenities you need like towels and soap. And you also need to bring your own lock to use the locker. (Haven’t been to other pools in the neighborhood so not sure if this is normal)

Paul Nolan: The swimming community at Marie Reed is a joy. People are always willing to split the lane when it gets busy, so you can swim at your own pace. The pool is free for DC residents; that makes a big difference for someone like me who swims regularly for exercise. The pool hours are rather strange, so be sure to look ahead before leaving home. I’d love to see the pool open on Sundays too.

Khang Nguyen: My favorite pool in DC.

Rodrigo Fernandez: This is one of the best pools in DC, the location is great and not only is it clean, but the staff, with myriad personalities, are always kind and well organized. During the pandemic it was one of the pools where it felt safer as they followed their own protocols thoroughly.

Tracy Meehleib: Great pool and vibe. Lifeguards play cool music. Nice mixture of people--all ages, sizes, colors. Beautiful aquatic mosaic murals by local Ethiopian artist Amare Selfu.

Kourt DaDoll: nice pool they play great music i went during the evening pretty chill few bad kids but they left ! water is really cold i was in the pool for 20 mins still cold .

S: Amazing that this pool is free for everyone in the city! Clean and great facilities

Timothy Boudreaux: Locker rooms could use some work but the fantastic water condition makes up for it. Awesome place to swim!

DC Department of Parks and Recreation: what do users think?

Olivia A. Chase: DPR takes on an intergenerational approach with my family and many families like mine. I am a grandmother raising a grandchild. They generate many programs that are suitable for this type of family. As an example, DPR has various Swim Teams in all 8 Wards of Washington, DC. DPR not only organizes Swim Meets each week; in addition, transportation to the Swim Meets is also provided making it possible for families to engage in the swimmers activities. This also allows families to participate as time keepers or to volunteer their time and energies in various other and sundry ways. Personally, I was ecstatic to be able to CHEER MY SWIMMER ON TO VICTORY!!
