Whistle Stop Toy & Hobby: what do users think?

Rex Grigg: Definitely a gem of a tiny toy shop. Just picked up snow sleds from here, as promised by the owner who had run out the previous week & said come back next week.

Sophocles Grafas: The owner is amazing and helped me with a craft project by supplying me with the tools in shop but also helped me order materials I needed. Love the shop and will be using this as my go to location for any hobby needs.

TwistaFragz: Owner is very helpful and knows his product. I just started building Gundam units and all the basic tools that are needed are available. If you are looking for something in particular the owner will check to see if he can get it for you.

Doug Nitti: Small ..intimate..HO scale inventory isnt massive but the Owner is engaging and knowledgeable. Hes willing to order whatever you need and is a straight shooter.

Hobby Lobby: what do users think?

Aztecmami217: This place is amazing! It is the best crafting store I have ever seen. I was here two hours and I did not finish looking at everything they have. They also have seasonal discounts. The employees are very helpful and polite. The store is super clean and organized, and if you can think it, they have it!

S.M. Barnes: Very clean, organized aisles. Lots of floral selections for creative minds. I did not see what I needed, so I left, plus it was closing and I did not want to belabor the staff.

Giselle Colon: I am in love with this place! The service is amazing. Everyone who works there is always happy to help. They have a huge selection to choose from. I never have a hard time finding what I need. Everything is organized and clean in the store. There are always sales going on. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is looking for supplies for a new project or if you want to spice things up in your home.

Phillip P.: This is a great, well stocked Hobby Lobby. Great deals per usual. Big parking lot. Friendly staff. Need a few more roaming associates to help customers find hard to find items. A store map would be helpful as well. Getting out the parking lot is about impossible because of location.

Felipe Umana: This store is new in this area, so I came to check it out this store and I can tell you i never seen 👀 a store like this its so big, they have everything for decorating so clean organized and the people who work there are very nice too👌 lol😆

Huzzah Hobbies: what do users think?

Justin Majerle: Went to Huzzah for the first time this past weekend. Just wanted to check it out as I was in the area and had heard a lot about it. I was truly impressed almost immediately. I remember the old gamer shop model, small, dingy, and unorganized….Huzzah is the complete opposite of what was the industry standard. Upon entering I immediately took note of how clean and organized the place is. I was greeted three times in the first minute or two which is nearly unheard of in this day and age of retail. The place is huge and well laid out. There is a large area for gaming but it is on one side of the store, making it easy to navigate the retail side without having to squeeze by gaming tables. They have just about everything imaginable in the gaming genre from tabletop miniatures to board games. I really enjoyed the store and will definitely be back!

Justin Cozzi: This place is amazing. Friendly staff and so much to choose from. I highly recommend for any gaming or modeling enthusiasts.Update from last post. The place is still amazing and they have vintage Gundam. I love it. Keep up the great work guys.

Tony McCurry: This was one of the most, if not the most, pleasant game stores I’ve ever been too. The more I looked around the more I discovered more of its charm. The staff was very friendly as well. I’m very envious of anyone who gets to go to this store on a regular basis.

Sebastian C: Awesome "nerd" store! Highly recommend for anyone looking for TCG or tabletop games! Plenty of tables in the back

John Seaton: I love the staff and the community at Huzzah. The staff does a really great job of taking time to listen to and answer questions for my children. They carry everything we are interested in and the staff is ready to answer questions about everything. We meet friendly people every time we visit. The facility is spacious, clean, and bright.

The Hobbies Shop: what do users think?

Sherri Agee: Amazing shop. The owner was so helpful with my son and went out of her way to make sure he got the RC car he wants and any repairs taken car of. I HIGHLY recommend!

Michael Ward: Great little store, a true hobbyists place! The owner was incredibly nice, other customers friendly and truly enthusiasts which you dont find in the big box hobby stores. If you have a young one that you want to get started in the modeling, rc world, this is the place to do it!!!! As an adult walking in there, i felt like a kid again.

Warren Gray: Larry and Beth are the best. They help understand the products and help with my trucks

IEatOut Often: On average, I have purchased one plastic model a month from this store for the last 20 months. For beginners, I highly recommend their selection of molded-in-color Revell Junior kits because these kits bolt together with large plastic bolts, and polystyrene cement is not needed. They also can sell you a mini-file (that looks like a metal fingernail file) to safely remove a little bit of excess plastic from the occasional piece that is slightly over-sized. From this product-line (of various cars and so forth), the Jeep Wrangler (kit 451019) has some of the most fragile pieces; therefore, I recommend the ambulance, police sport utility vehicle, or Disney "Cars" movie vehicles (for example, Jackson Storm or Cruz Ramirez) instead. A large plastic screw-driver is included in each of these kits. They also sell many different picture-puzzles. It has been a pleasure doing business with them.

Lauri Sweeny: Amazingly helpful! They have so much product and knowledge. Great customer service. We drove 45 minutes to get there but it was totally worthwhile.

Marion C: Super great service, very friendly and knowledgeable. Went the extra mile to help us fix our car. Highly recommend for all of your hobby rc needs.

Tayte Anne: So much to choose from. My kids always have to pick something out. The legos inventory is awesome. Some from my favorite video game, overwatch. Outdoor activities to keep the kids entertained through quarantine and this long summer. Great place. Check it out even to look at all the cool models.

Child's Play Toys & Books: what do users think?

Scott Selliers: While in town for my wife’s work, my son and I have been out exploring the city. We have never been much for buying tchotchkes as souvenirs, yet few things can bring back the memories of travel like a material thing found along the way. After visiting the gift shop at the National Aquarium in Baltimore and seeing the crummy toy offerings, I told my son we’d find a real toy store - and Child’s Play Toys & Books is definitely that! We were greeted and assisted by passionate toy aficionados - professional retailers. Take your time when you visit this store - there’s a ton to see. Now my son has a quality toy that will bring back memories of our DC trip. We also had a puzzle gift wrapped for free at the counter as a gift for my father-in-law for watching our animals - this was the perfect store for us today! (You know you’re dealing with a serious store when they have an entire shelf dedicated to the best board game ever made - Catan!)

beyondTabu: Lots of options. Shelves were sparse which is expected as it’s Christmas time. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have wrapping at the back of the store for purchases.

Martin Lucero: What an awesome story, great toys and games for people of all ages. The store is far bigger than you might first realize and they are incredibly well stocked. The staff are passionate and helpful. They were able to discuss Legos in detail with my seven year old son and help me find the perfect board game based on my vague requirements. On top of all that, the prices are very reasonable.

Martha Coe: Best toy shop in the district. You can always find something good for a present.

Lisa Lavelle: This is the best toy store ever! Love the helpful staff, they always have great recommendations and they are incredibly knowledgeable about the products. Wonderful selection of toys, games, and books.

Christabelle Cruz: The best toy and gift store ever! I’ve come here multiple times and every time, a worker asks if they can help. I tell them the ages of the children I’m shopping for as well as the interests, and they always direct me to the perfect options and gift. They are super knowledgeable and helpful! Always a positive and happy shopping experience at Child’s Play!

Leif Engler: Amazing place to buy toys, especially legos and figurines. There is also a small book area in the back aswell. Would recommend.

Walt Nicholson: This is one of the best toy stores I’ve come across in years. If you have a child who needs a toy - it’s here. All ages, abilities and interests. Lots of fun educational toys as well as sheer joy. Big Lego section, model rockets and tons for little ones. The staff were super friendly and made perfect recommendations. Will definitely be back for birthday presents to come!

Christina Valentiner: This place is magical. I want to buy everything for my kid but I dont- they have a huge selection and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgable.

Matthew Henry: What an incredible surprise. This place is awesome. Needed to buy some holiday gifts, walked in and was met with can I help you. Said, yes, and had wonderful choices for a 1 year old and six year old. For kids of all ages, this is the place!

U.S. Navy Museum Store: what do users think?

Olga Crawford: A nice place

Jonathan Holland: Excellent place to beat the crowds and see a top notch museum.

Michael Pukish: A little gem of a museum right on base at the Navy Yard. Not necessarily a comprehensive collection of all things Navy, but definitely a great combination of technical, political, and human history components.

Jerry Miranda: Wonderful museum. Really well done. A must visit if in DC. CAC required for base access. Bring the kids.

Jonathan Haag: Wish it was open on the weekend.

Shirley Tran: i went to go visit the navy yard and walked through their gift shop. it has a lot of neat things to see and some good small gifts to buy.

Wayne Morris: Excellent selection of Navy items.

Vicki Ware: It was fabulous highly recommended.

Leica Store Washington DC: what do users think?

Haresh Mehta: The store without a doubt lives up to the Leica standard. No rush rush sales pressure, no up-selling, just a fantastic educated opinion from Leica Ambassadors. I met with Christopher, he helped me trade in my visoflex and get the new one, completed the paperwork for the service of my m10R, while I enjoyed browsing through their gallery and books. Happy to buy from here and revisit.

C Davidson: Excellent shows and small gallery. Knowledgeable sales rep and they understand the Leica mystique. Helped a friend buy an M10 here with a 50 Summicron and used 28 Elmarit. The Elmarit looked brand new.

Prakash Narayan: I have been savoring the joys of this store for many years now. Werner Paul and his team are superb -- extremely solicitous, considerate and informative, and professionals through and through. Any matter concerning my precious Leica camera or lens was considered and addressed swiftly and thoroughly -- to my complete satisfaction. A photographer could not ask for more, and I remain grateful.

Richard Burg: A great store with great products and a superb staff. Each member of the staff is an accomplished photographer who willingly shares knowledge and technique. Particularly recommended is the individual photography classes offered by David Bickley.

Francisco Lovko: The staff was amazing, their customer service was impeccable and they were great ambassadors for the brand! They were very knowledgeable about their products and photography in general. We had a great conversation about digital and analog photography.

Marcos Rego: I went in just to window shop. The two working behind the desk there were beyond helpful with my questions, so much so that I ended up buying a strap for my M3 that I had just bought (that they also generously checked out for me). It was an absolute pleasure.

Target: what do users think?

Chaturbhuj bhojwani: Very nice and clean store parking available in the basement, Only problem always low on the food inventor and produce and grocery.

Cliodhna MacFadden: We purchased the Element 65” TV, and after 3 days the backlight broke. We tried everything to fix it. Without a box or receipt in hand, we brought it back to see what may be possible to do. Associates TK, Nicole S, and Anton were able to use the debit card used to purchase to look up my receipt to get our return sorted. We so appreciate them going truly above and beyond to show us their compassion and excellent customer service.

Adah Deveaux: This review is for the starbucks within target. My drinks were great but a little of a wait. The actual target was customary.

The Frame Mender While-U-Wait Eyeglass Repairs: what do users think?

The Mecca: I love the end results. My glasses were broken In the middle and I thought I would never get to wear them again until I went to frame menders here on 17th Street Nw. Homeboy Justin looked out! He was professional, welcoming and understood the assignment! I think he might have been a carpenter in his past life because my glasses looked brand new, fixed right and lenses cleaned. S/O to Justin - you did good frame menders on hiring him

Sandy Rokh: Super fast and respectful reasonable price compared to places I’ve seen in other states. I came in at 11 they had them done in 50 minutes. Really liked their work on my favorite pair of glasses.

Marie Cohen: Fantastic experience with mail-in service. They laser welded a broken hinge so that the temple is able to open and close fully, but will no longer "spring" to the side. All at a cost of $55 with a lifetime guarantee. The whole process took about 9 days from the time I contacted them for an estimate. Great business!

Andrea SW: My son broke the hinge off one of the arms of his glasses. I took the superglued, electrical taped mess to the nice gentleman at The Frame Mender and he had it fixed in less than a half hour! $66 for same day repair. Photos are post repair.

T F: My Dad’s glasses broke in half, due to Covid and him living in a long term care facility , it’s impossible for me to schedule him for an eye exam and new glasses. I sent Frame Menders a photo, they responded within 3 hours with a price quote. I shipped the glasses to them the next day and within a week I received them back! Excellent customer service and I highly recommend.

Dee: FANTASTIC, FAST ! Traveling - opened my prescription sunglass case and the arm fell off (no screw in sight). Stopped by on Sunday morning and the repair was done in less than 10 mins. I was able to enjoy the rest of the week, driving safely with my rx sunglasses and seeing the sights.

Kramers: what do users think?

Jon and Amanda Lewis: Great little bookshop near Dupont Circle. They have a wide selection of titles & subjects and an attached cafe and restaurant. I found some wonderful vintage looking postcards such as a DC cherry blossom one and tried the Kramer’s Goober Pie. So incredible. I would highly recommend this place!

Arun Vishwanathan: Cute little bookstore in DC and you should stop by if in the area. Eclectic collection of titles and journals/calendars They do have a restaurant/diner inside, so you can grab a bite as well if you’re hungry. Wish I had more time to spend there..

Juhi Pac: Great bookstore-bar-restaurant combo right at DuPont circle. Very easily accessible by DuPont circle metro and good selection of books and atmosphere

Karen cohen: Helpful staff and a ton of books from every genre! Browsing is part of the fun or going there and see all the books you want to read. Have lunch in the dining area and spend the whole afternoon there. Huge children section, too.

C Luna: Food was fantastic! Especially the cherry blossom cheesecake :) Service was amazing- our waitress was sweet and funny. Definitely a great date spot ❤

John Weber: What a lovely place to look for books and grab a bite to eat! I only walked around the bookstore but from what I could tell, the food both looked and smelled amazing!! On the restaurant side, there are a couple lounge chairs/couches to relax in as well. Definitely stop by and drop in if you are nearby. I was able to park just a block away on a Friday night.

bruce hutson: Kramers. Since 1976, so it’s not new to many, unless you visit from outa town, like we did. Our friends, Bob and Lynn, came here on dates years ago, as many did and still do. Lots of stories within these walls, ups and downs, and today we sat in fleeting sunshine to taste the excellent Kramers Breakfast(tasty potatoes), and the full mouth, comforting Ham Benedict(such creamy Hollandaise). Oh, and the books fairly pulsed into our hands within the well laid out spaces. Feed your body, nourish your soul

Quarib Chowdhury: This is a Washington DC institution. Everyone should visit, buy a book, and eat at the cafe. I’ve browsed through this place many many times and even bought books and ate at the cafe. I ate at the cafe years ago but remember everything being delicious. As someone with a big sweet tooth, the apple pie crust desert was amazing. The expansion to bring the cafe into the bookstore actually works really well. I’ll have to revisit the cafe next time.

Lincoln Memorial Bookstore: what do users think?

James Walker: Walk up the stairs to view the iconic memorial, and turn to your right to enter the bookstore. You will find items for sale to include portraits, books, and souvenirs of the 16th President of the United States. Open daily from 10AM to 6PM.

Alabama OUTSIDErs: The bookstore is in one of the corners of the Memorial. It is relatively small, so pretty crowded, but packed with tons of cool souvenirs and other things. Our son got a few of the "Lego" sets of the various monuments, memorials, and buildings. They were reasonably priced for their size and uniqueness. The man working inside was extremely friendly.

David Stearns: Stephanie was absolutely incredible! Immediately friendly and helpful and able to give us Helpful information about the surrounding area and sites to see! She was wonderful

Bruce Hrabak: Classic monument at the far end of the National Mall. A must see. Also make sure you see the korea and Vietnam memorial on the way in or out. Surprisingly has a handicap accessible entrance via an elevator to get the same great views reguardless of how you get to the top. A cornerstone of American history.

Michele Geronimo: This little souvenir shop is tucked away to the right of the entrance to the Lincoln Memorial. It was crowded, so not much room to maneuver. Spent most of our time looking at he Lincoln Memorial itself and sitting on the steps to enjoy sunset. This made for a great last stop to our day of sightseeing!

Ethan Stein: Pretty decent bookstore here, it’s in the corner and very hard too see but it is set up by the National Park Service who runs the parks and mostly everything on the park property. The merchandise is official not like something you will buy at a big gift shop on a big street. Bought a decent pin one time.

Tom Danahy: Small and crowded but nicely stocked. And a friendly staff who take great pride in being inside the monument. They took the time to find a shirt my size in the back and were helpful with questions we had.

nati: Employees were very nice and they have a large selection of things to purchase!

ANDRES TORRES: Several sites to visit in good weather, it is a spectacular place a very clean city

John waldron jr: Overall a excellent online hobby shop. Great prices, vast selection and fast order fulfillment. Customer service is well above expectations. Mega hobby is my favorite go to online hobby shop period.

Scott J. Lloyd: I have had several transactions with Megahobby and all of them have been hassle free, quickly shipped and good value. They have a wide variety of modeling tools and kits. Their prices are in line or mostly better than competitors.

Joe Moore: I had a question concerning a kit I wanted to purchase and Mega went through the trouble of checking the kit ( 1/32 Trumpeter SU27B ) . Brett at Mega opened the kit to check if it was an updated release, it was ! Great people at Mega ! This is the only place that has that kind of service ! JM

James Walker: Located steps below the Washington Monument, on the National Mall. Large selection of books on the first U.S. President and souvenir shop. You will also find public restrooms at this location.

Jessica Villarreal: We went in search of the National Parks passport book for my friends daughter. The person working, Cornelia Bryant, was AMAZING!!! She helped us so much. She made recommendations about getting the little circle stickers for my passport book (because I forgot it) and she looked through items in the back to see if she had specific year stamps we were looking for. She was also very friendly and patient. I have been to all of the National Mall bookstores at this point and she is the ONLY one who has ever helped me. Highly recommend this bookstore for the Mall over the others for that reason alone. Thanks Cornelia!!!!

Kirsten Neus: Great place to buy a Washington Monument book or souvenir, ask tourist information questions and get your National Park passport stamped.

Subrina W: 💕💕💕💕 Washington DC is beautiful!

Kokob Weldu: Great customer service

Richard Niemczyk: Unfortunately it was closed due to renovation.

REI Co-op: what do users think?

Michael Brown: As a company, REI should not inflict their political beliefs onto customers. That said, they carry good gear and this particular location is fantastic. Every time I have come here they have exactly what I need. The staff are friendly and helpful and generally knowledgeable. I don’t know who makes REI branded clothes and gear, but they do a good job.

Mike R: I like this store for so many reasons. First: they have excellent customer service. Today I walked in with my bike to get my flat tire fixed. A woman approached me and signed me in. Then a man walked up to me and asked if I would like to him to park my bike. I was appalled by this gesture. Second: This establishment has everything here. I mean like… leave that bike area if you want to. You will be buying anything from energy gel to underwear. Third: conveniently located right beside the metro.

Anne Probst: Thank you Jeremy in cycling for taking care of my bike I commute on. Haley assisted and was down to earth and happy. High five to Micah in footwear who helped me find a size in a scarpa I haven’t been able to find in stores in 4 years. He’s super knowledgeable and was connecting with all the customers. Thank you REI DC!

Louisa Buatti: I visited REI for the first time since the pandemic began. My pick up of an online order went very smoothly. Every staff person I encountered was friendly and helpful--they all offered to direct me to the customer service/pick up area. I was in and out of the store in a flash.

Christ Child Opportunity Shop: what do users think?

Kurt LaRose MSW LCSW LICSW: The antiques and the finds here are wonderful. The staff, volunteers, care so much about the items. Here I am reminded of my grandparents dishes, jewelry, paintings, dishes, silver, metalurgy, pocket watches, rugs .... and the iron statutes are just phenomenal. Today I found a 10k gold rosary engraved from 1924 ... with a historical attention to detail that is awesome. The people working in the store celebrate the items as you look.

rebecca leigh: A lovely store with beautiful things. Sometimes a bit pricey. The service is excellent and warm.

Sandra Biedron: Wow. Great place for vintage jewelry and everything else one needs for a home or office. Not only is everything repurposed but all proceeds go to children in the area that need help meeting their emotional needs. Found four rare Portmeirion pottery pieces as well as two pieces of vintage high-end jewelry. These were very fairly priced with the market. Excellent collection of dishes, silver, and crystal. Go there instead of doing a wedding registry! So much more green! Rock on Opportunity Shop - you made my heart happy today seeing things re-purposed! The place was packed!

Eric Rajendra: The best antique and bric-a-brac store in all of DC. Our family in Georgetown has given thousands of dollars worth in contributions of our own antiques we no longer needed and then we bought thousands of dollars more in antiques we needed!! This place is a gem for us Washingtonians!! The volunteer staff members are truly precious and really dedicated!! They love their work and make the entire experience of browsing a joy. The second floor has great stuff so GO UP!! Jewelry, silverware, Asian antiques, porcelain, etc! You won’t be disappointed. You need to return weekly as new consignments and donations come all the time!! Trust me.

A. Greenough Dodd: Huge fan of this nonprofit consignment shop (aka The "Op Shop"!) that benefits the needs of DC area children. Always great finds, but definitely allow time to peruse the many items. Well-worth the search!

Angela Van: Clean and organized decor consignment purchase structure (can see how the price drops by date). Always find something when I go in. Unfortunately, they just re-organized downstairs so the bulk is upstairs--no elevator.

Jonathan Fuhrman: Nice place for antiques. Everything has a date it came in and gets marked down every month. Prices are a bit high, but not outrageous.

Once we got there Sam was super attentive and helped us out a lot to find what we needed. Shout out this store and shout out that mans Sam!!!
