Field English Custom Tailors: what do users think?

Katheryne Kramer: I was able to get two slightly complicated dresses(a knit one and a color-blocked sheath) taken in. In both cases, the alterations subtly improved the cut of each to be more flattering and functional for me. The impeccable results are well worth the cost to keep these garments in my wardrobe.

Paul Davies: Field Tailors is a bespoke custom tailors. Everything is done in store and probably the best bespoke Tailors in the DC area. From alterations to full bespoke Mr Field does it all. Also once a month The London Shoemaker a bespoke shoemaker visits on the last Saturday of the month.

Andrew M: Get estimates upfront if cost is an issue; this is a premium tailor and it can be hard to predict how much a complicate job, such as a gown, will cost. The work was excellent, a slice of Saville Row in DC.

Schuyler Olsson: Not cheap, but the guy is highly skilled and kind.

Tony Conway: Custom one on one service. Top Quality.

De Louice Custom Tailor: what do users think?

Larry Goldman: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ResponsivenessThis tailor provides excellent service. I’ve had several suits and other garments altered by him. I have never been disappointed. He understands the quality and cut of the clothing, and I’m always pleased with the results.Service: Alterations

John Swain: Can only speak for tailoring of suit pants. They were nice enough to do a rush job for me when I had to get to a funeral back in my home town. They completed the work and the pants were ready to pick up by the agreed upon time on the following day. Customer service was fantastic. Offered very professional advice and the cost was reasonable. I will be back for some tailoring of my suit jacket as well.

Seihyun: Professional and courteous from the moment one walks in, the head tailor of the shop shows his expertise by listening carefully to the clients’ specifications and executing his craft seamlessly onto each article of clothing. I’ve been to many tailor shops and have been let down just as many times. This place is different. If you’re looking to get any reductions done your clothing look no further. I brought in 5 articles of clothing and after the alterations were done left with zero complaints. Truly a master at his craft.

Jason Huberman: Positive: Professionalism, QualityGreat alterations on my suit, it fits and looks great! Very helpful and knowledgeable.Service: Alterations

ottiviani morris: The best tailored shirts I have ever owned. His suits are incredible and a work of art.

Evan Klondar: Superb quality tailor. Does impeccable work and would highly recommend; has tailored jackets and pants for me.

J C Lofton Tailors: what do users think?

Lyssa McEachern: I needed a dress tailored here within 2 weeks for a wedding and they did not let me down! Friendly people and great pricing for the beautiful work you get!

Mark Koenig: Great people and incredibly talented! Quick turn around for a well tailored suit at a reasonable price. I get compliments each time I wear it, so you know it was done right! Thank you!

Iman Shabazz: One of the finest Professional Taylors in WDC. We have taken our things here for years! Expedient work.and very detailed in their efforts. Thanks Iman @ Les Fleur Studio

Nafeesah Attah: I’ve been coming here since I moved to DC in 2018 and I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. I’ve taken high end suits to dresses to them and they’ve always done an amazing job. They are high quality and can be trusted with your garments, but work really quickly! Sometimes my alternations are ready same day. To top it all off everyone in the shop is extremely friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this business to anyone. Looking forward to bringing more items to them! Service: Alterations

Jared Mingo: My man has 45 years of experience as a tailor. He and his team will execute all of tailoring needs with expertise and then some, all at a very affordable price with haste to match. If you have a rush order it will completed on time.

KeKe's Kidz: No complaints here. Mr. Lofton altered a suit for my 3 year old. Lets just say my vision was executed to a tee. And my son was the talk of the ball. Proud to work with Mr. Lofton and look forward to many more suits in my sons future. #1stsuitcustomefit

Samuel Mather: Went because it’s the best-reviewed tailor shop in the area, and now I’m just confused. I tried to get a suit altered to accommodate pandemic weight. The staff was consistently rude. I was surprised they only had me try on the suit and didn’t take any measurements, but figured they’re the experts. Same rudeness when I picked it up. They did an ok job with the jacket but the pants aren’t even close to fitting. In fairness they said they’d let the pants out as much they could but it might not be enough - but isn’t that the kind of thing where measurements would be useful to have? I don’t really know what normal prices are for alterations. What they charged is about consistent with what Charles Tyrwhitt charges for in-house alterations, but, you know, less helpful, slower and less reliable. They did return the suit in good condition, except for a new, unpleasant odor.

Marshall (MRJ56): If you ever need anything altered J C Lofton Tailors is the place to go. This is the only place I go for any kind of alterations. After I purchase my suits I take them here for alterations. The service is always top notch.

Best Fit Tailoring: what do users think?

Amanda Fayer: Terrible! Disappointed is an understatement. I was shocked at how badly the alterations on this gown came out. I could have done this better intoxicated in the dark. Ended up getting some $ back (I was charged $169 for this and basic hemming) but that was after the seamstress told me she shouldn’t have told me she could alter my dress and it was my fault for bringing it in. I was sooo glad to find a nice good tailor in the neighborhood. This is NOT it.

Olivia Hinch: Selenge is an excellent seamstress whose work always impresses me. I have had multiple dresses, skirts and pants taken in by her and it has always been done to perfection, even pants that were at least 2 sizes too large. I’m glad to have her in my neighborhood.

Isabel Scher: I had such an amazing experience! Selenge went above and beyond helping me think through the best way to tailor the dress. She even brought one of her own fabrics to help adjust a detail across the top! Very grateful for her help, would highly recommend!

Ryan MacLeod: Selenge is a great tailor and such a friendly person! Highly recommend

Jamie Lee: Needed two dresses shortened and am so glad I went here! One was quite complicated due to embroidery at the bottom...I was willing to sacrifice the design, but she offered to shorten it from the waist instead. Very glad she did...it turned out beautifully. I’m so appreciative for her skills and am glad after several years I’ve finally found a reliable tailor in DC!

Brimble and Clark DC: Luxury Custom Suits & Menswear: what do users think?

Lester McKinnon: One of the best fitted suits I ever bought, they were very friendly, patient and helpful in helping me find what we were looking for. Lisa is very helpful in answering questions as well as helping in finding the right color and design that best suited my personality and what I was looking for.

Connor Swearingen: Honestly, I’m struggling to formulate a way to express my satisfaction with Brimble & Clark. From the onset, when looking for a custom built suit I stumbled upon this company. Their website gives you a good idea of the products they provide but even more so is the experience you get when you purchase a suit here. Sim was very understanding and accompanying when I had to reschedule my initial visit multiple times. When you walk in you immediately know that this is going to be an experience like no other. Lisa spent time explaining what set these suits apart from the rest. Her insight and knowledge of style makes even the most indecisive person feel comfortable picking out each component of your suit. I will say, this suit and the experience that comes with it is well worth the price. Even if you’re not going to buy a suit, their ballistic shirts alone are worth scheduling an appointment! You want to stand out in a city of suits like Washington DC? Contact Brimble & Clark.

Rahul Kohli: Prior to working with Sim and Lisa at Brimble and Clark, the only suits I ever owned were $150 off-the-shelf suits from Express and other generic department stores. Needless to say, I was completely unfamiliar with what makes a high quality suit and had no idea just how bad my cheap suits actually were. When I first met with Sim to consult on a tailored suit, I was blown away by his knowledge of suit design and fit - there are so many elements to a good suit that I had no idea about. Despite my lack of knowledge, Sim was super helpful in presenting various options for suit designs and was able to craft a suit that perfectly fit my needs. When I finally tried it on, I could immediately tell just how different and special it was compared to my cheap department store suits. Even at the first fitting the suit looked and felt fantastic - miles ahead of anything I have worn before. The amount of individualized attention I received during the process was unreal, especially considering the reasonable price. I fully recommend B&C for anyone looking to upgrade their formal wear to the next level. You will be in great hands.

Barbara Mitera: I flew to Brimble & Clark DC from NH to accompany my son when he went to get fitted for his suit. We were greeted and treated like royalty. The selection of men’s suits and fabrics was outstanding. When the suits were picked up I couldn’t believe how spectacular my son looked when he tried them on. They were literally perfect. He looked so professional and ready to confront the world!!! Thank you Sim! It was a pleasure to meet you and thank you for your expertise. Barbara Mitera

Max Rykov: Getting my first custom suit, I didn’t know what to expect, but I can happily say I’m so thrilled with the suits I got at Brimble &Clark. Sim, Lisa and Kait guided me through the process, listened to my needs and then gave me great recommendations. I loved the photoshoot I got at the end, it was great to get headshots too. Thank you so much to everyone at Brimble &Clark -- I will definitely be back!!

Jay Kenlaw: The rules of a perfect purchase. When buying anything you should have an immediate connection to the seller or the location preferably both. Secondly the experience no matter how much may or may not know should offer you an education on what you plan to obtain. Next your seller should have experience in all facets of the purchase. The who the where the why and the when. Next the seller should be able to guide your selections and customize your purchase to fit your personal style, fashion, and flare. Lastly your seller should create the experience previously mentioned and manufacture the item of desire in such a manner that guarantees you’ll not only return but proudly direct all compliments back to its creator. Bimble & Clarke - is this exact experience

Eric Meng: Lisa & Gabriela were absolutely wonderful. I originally came for my wedding suit but left with their work week package. The quality of the materials combined with the bespoke styling and fit make Brimble & Clark, bar none, the best custom suits you’ll find on the East Coast. The experience is amazing and they blow any other suit company like Men’s Warehouse out of the water. Highly highly recommend!

Christopher Kim's Men's Wear: what do users think?

RileyE: Loved my experience with Mr. Kim. Came to him for last minute tux rental and he was able to get me taken care of within an hour and was incredibly kind through the whole process. Thank you!

Lauren Mears: This is the best tailor I have ever been to. Took some of my blazers to be tailored, and was impressed with how detail oriented he was. Since then I’ve taken a number of items - including evening gowns and he has always done an amazing job. Definitely not cheap, but worth every penny in my opinion.

D Inclusion: I take every pair of dress pants and suits to Mr Kim and when he finishes his magic the fit is perfection!!Service: Alterations

Gordy Rogers: Mr Kim is the man. so knowledgeable, so sweet, so professional. a classic DC establishment

corysc: Mr. Kim is a real tailor. That means he has expertise and skill, and can, will, and should charge accordingly for that. My new suit, purchased elsewhere and tailored by Mr Kim, fits perfectly. If you want to pay department store pricing for department store tailoring, Mr. Kim is probably not the one for you. But if you want a suit or jacket to fit perfectly and the work to be done on a reasonable (or in one case for me, faster) timeline, with the work done as-described for the quoted price, then I absolutely recommend him. And remember, if you have a nice suit or jacket, you’ll be wearing it for years. Wouldn’t it be nice and worth the expense to have it fit right? I’ll add that he is perhaps not effusive but was certainly courteous and professional.

Membership 100 Black Men DC: Mr. Kim is the best tailor in Washington, DC. Excellent service and great care. Always a kind word and his work is impeccable. I have never seen him rude or abrupt. Those who have had that experience had to have come in with their own attitude and attempted to take it out on him. Mr. Kim is the kindest person on the planet. Has been my tailor for many years and he is the best; and I have been to many.

Linea Pitti Custom Tailoring: what do users think?

Sara Estep: I brought in a pair of vintage Levi’s I’d purchased online without knowing my sizing that were about 2 sizes too big. I didn’t want to put visible darts in them for cheap which you can have done at any laundromat. I wanted someone who would fully seam rip them and cut them to size, while maintaining the intended vintage fit. Yes, this is more pricy, but it also takes a lot more time and skill and they did a superb job. It was worth every penny for the work they put into these. I also had a dress taken in and it fits perfectly. Highly recommend. Service: Alterations

Jimmy Bernot: Excellent work from a very experienced tailor. Did a fantastic job on my suits. You get what you pay for here -- high quality, professional work. I learned a lot about suits by asking questions and learning from his 40+ years of experience as a tailor. Happy to have a regular tailor now that who will give recommendations and consultations on garments.

Justin Swain: Ihsan Dura, owner and master tailor, is an old world craft person his work and that of his tailors is excellent. I observe that both for my clothes and other clients in the shop at times of my visits are very well made or altered. Ihsan and the tailors working with him can actually create a well fitting custom made suit and other garments. I encourage customers use the claim/work ticket ID and place their evaluation of services via Google.

Kate Geder: Do not ever use this company. They removed the bodice from a dress that I took there to be shortened and put the bodice back on the dress 90 degrees off from the skirt. To make matters worse, they cut into the side of the dress to attach a zipper creating a new seam.

Suitsupply: what do users think?

Christopher Williams: Had a great experience working with Anju. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. My wedding suit looks great. Suit Supply is the only store I recommend to friends and family. Save your time looking elsewhere and make an appointment 👍

Tivon Sterin: I really appreciate the attention to detail that each of the style associates demonstrates in helping their customers. Superior style for a reasonable price. Max was the absolute best guide for me in picking out clothes and designing a suit. I will be returning here often!

Suzy S: We were asking our sales associate some questions about sizing (as the suit did not fit very well - seems to be a theme here based on the other reviews) when JARED, another associate, butt into the conversation and said, “well if you paid us more, maybe we’d have more options for you”. Unclear if he meant that the sales associates are underpaid or that the suits they make are cheap, but either way, take that up with your manager, not the customer. Super inappropriate and rude. Not a great experience but Jared is right – you get what you pay for and if you’re looking for decent service (or a well fitting suit), this place is not it.

Baltimore Bernstein: I hate writing bad reviews but feel the need to. I went into this location about a month ago to pickup a few items for a wedding. I knew the QR codes and had them handy. I called in advance to ensure they had what I needed and made an appointment accordingly. I was paired with Julian who seemed nice and well-intentioned, but gave me the feeling that he was just trying to get me in and out as soon as possible. I learned upon arriving that they did not have the pants in stock, after someone from customer service assured me they would. Julian didn’t measure anything below my waist and instead of letting me try on the shirt I was supposed to wear, had me try on a different sample shirt that fit well and convinced me the measurements were exactly aligned with the shirt I was supposed to buy. I had to get the pants delivered and they were way too long, so I paid to have them tailored accordingly. The shirt’s sleeves are too long and not at all comparable to what I tried on in the store. Meanwhile, another groomsman wearing the same clothes had a completely different experience at a Suitsupply store in Seattle. They tailored his clothes on the spot, and sent him home with a swanky suit bag. I did not enjoy those luxuries despite spending ~$400. TLDR - the person helping me put little to no effort in ensuring that everything fit for a special occasion. Not something I take lightly when a linen shirt and pants cost me tons of money!

Ben: I walked in not knowing exactly what I was looking for, but Dan was able to point me in the right direction right away. After we came across a suit I liked, he made some great suggestions for alterations. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and it was a great experience. Highly recommend (and ask for Dan!)

Miguel Villazon: Not an efficient way to run a retail store. Came in to pick up pants that I got hemmed and return two items. 1 hour wait. The manager is the classic stuck up guy with a chip on his shoulder. Shame because their clothing is pretty nice. Check the stuff out at the store and buy online. You’ll have a much better experience.

J K: LOST MY TUXEDO. Initial fitting was great. Came to try on the alterations, the salesman was an hour late to the appointment. Then they couldn’t find the suit. So, I don’t have a suit that I paid for. I am in disbelief.
