Washington Improv Theater: what do users think?

Robert Craig Ashby: This was a wonderful experience. Each of the performers did an excellent job. A great event, great respect for the art form, and great individuals coming together as a team while maintaining their unique voices in a cohesive manner. Truth is comedy!!!!LOL

Zach LeBlanc: Went to see an improv performance of several groups and it was a great time! Admission is free, but they do ask for donations at the end to support the theater. The only downside is the seating is very cramped and there is not much of it, so be sure to get there very early!

Darren Wacker: This is a fantastic experience. I was there with Friends on a Harold Night, which can be hit or miss and this was largely a hit. Great theater location and experience. Great sight lines and good selection of drink options.

Fadi Castronovo: I really enjoyed the WIT. The improv groups where funny and the crowd was relaxed. The beer was affordable and yummy snacks.

Stephen M: Have been to multiple shows. Always a joy and always a night of many laughs.

Sharlette Williams: Great date night or just sinething different to do. Really talented group.

Laugh Index Theatre: what do users think?

Scott Zellner: The Laugh Index Theatre is an incredible community of improvisers, stand-up comedians, writers, and actors. Watching the shows is great and being a part of the theater is even better. During quarantine, LIT has continued presenting shows and classes virtually. Definitely recommend checking LIT out

Simone Mishler: LIT is a fantastic theatre! Their shows feature a wide range of comedic styles (stand-up, improv, and sketch), which makes each performance unique. Your face will hurt from laughing.

Diana Veiga: Great community for aspiring comics, improv and sketch performers, writers. I appreciated the feedback and other house comics that helped me improve my craft. Also, loved getting the chance to perform regularly.

randa stephens: I have always wanted to write sketch comedy and perform just like Saturday Night Live, but moving to new york is not an option. Laugh Index Theatre gave me the opprotunity of my dreams. I am now a very skilled sketch writer and performer thanks to the amazing directors at LIT. This place is a one stop shop to learn, perform, and watch comedy in D.C.

Craig Stephens: The Laugh Index Theatre is great! I went and watched the sketch show on May 25th called Separate Beds and was impressed. The sketches were fun. I would recommend for a neat night out.

DC Improv Comedy Club: what do users think?

Wendy A: We saw Tony Baker and it was extremely funny. The place was clean, great service, and positive energy. It is in the basement of the building.

Joshua Pestaner: This was a lot of fun and the first time my wife and I have been to a comedy club or anything in DC for quite some time due to the pandemic. The place was clean and the show was great and a lot of fun. Just ordered a few drinks during the show. I did fine with my Long Island iced teas 🤣

Arielle H: First time here and saw Chris Paul and HuggyLowDown…very intimate seating and the show was great. Food options are sparse but you’re there to laugh not to dine on a 5 course meal

S Seymour: Easy check in process and no real bad seat in the house. Reserving a table for two or four is a great option during Covid. The nachos and crab dip is actually very good as well as the drinks. TIP: come early to enjoy your food in the light.

Emily Smith: The seating style of this club, packing everyone in close together, seated with strangers, is so great. I saw We Hate Movies perform and the folks seated at my table were so kind and fun to hang out with for a bit. The staff was also super friendly and chill.

The Magic Duel: what do users think?

Nisan A.: I’ve never been to a magic show before and I thought to myself what would be better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than seeing my first magic show and hangout in the beautiful Mayflower Hotel? I’m glad I did go the the Magic Duel. Ryan and Mark are so funny and amazing performers. The show engages the audience in performing magic which added more entertainment to the show. Very recommended to DCists and visitors.

Danielle Campana: Such a GREAT show! Very creative, funny and *magical*. The show is intimate and they do a great job at engaging with the audience. And their performance is beyond cool, we all were trying to figure out each magic trick. Highly recommend for a date night, family outing or even a solo night out!

Natalie Hottel: TRULY A HIDDEN GEM!! 11/10 WOULD recommend! Good comedy is hard. Good magic is hard. I’ve never seen the two combined before—what Ryan and Mark have together is absolutely something special and magical in its own right. In the end, my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. And even now, literally a day later, I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE! That’s how you know it’s good!! Initially I was skeptical. I purchased tickets for this event because my first option for the evening fell through. Looking back, that feels like absolute ludicrous. Please, good people in DC, prioritize the Magic Duel next time you want an unforgettable night!

Lane S: The magic was fantastic and the comedy was great!!! The whole family had a blast. Love the audience participation as well. At one point I was sitting on stage with a plunger on my head. Definitely worth it. Side note: we saw the show in Arlington.

E Dubbeu: This had to be the best magic show I’ve ever been to! It was very entertaining and engaging, and so glad we went! One of those hidden gems in DC… definitely recommend going!! :-)

Elena Maican: Excellent show! I was mind blown multiple the entire time. Both magicians are funny and charming. Perfect activity for a date, taking family out, friends, kids, colleagues...etc thank you for the show!

Marina: Fantastic show! Engaging, funny, intriguing. Great hosts who take pride in their work. I saw the show three times already throughout the years. Also though they dont recommend kids, our almost-teenage daughter really enjoyed it. So the show is more than appropriate for older kids as long as they behave. Strongly recommend!

Frank Long: Went to the magic duel for a date night and it was a phenomenal time, the magic itself was top notch with some absolutely amazing tricks, but the experience was truly set apart by the enthusiasm of the team (it’s a family business), the pacing of the show itself, the intimacy of the venue, and the charisma of the lead performers. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone!

Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse: what do users think?

Nicole Derrickson: The Arlington is. Very nice and comfy theater. Feels very intimate and modern at the same time. The prices are reasonable and the comedians were funny. Definitely plan to visit this theater again in the future. I tried the nachos they were good nothing over the top.

Sassi Whayz: This show was my first visit to the DraftHouse. It’s a chill vibe!!!!! I look forward to going back!!!

Mike Pigg: We watched a comedy show, had a good time. Good pizza and plentiful drinks. Seating was a little annoying, so get in early.

Peter Strapp: Great experience for a private event. Highly recommend. We did a kids birthday and the staff and management did everything to make it easy and fun for events.

Eli Gilbert: Large comfortable space, fast and courteous service, and good food! I went to see Jokes & Aces (funny bunch)...definitely will go back!

Emilee Burrows: Great service, great show, food and drinks ordered at your seat and brought to you through out the show. Definitely will be back!

DC Comedy Loft and Bier Baron Tavern: what do users think?

Bethany Hart: Came here for a comedy show, and everything was run very well. We had an excellent time. Staff was busy but in high spirits and still making sure you were taken care of. Line moved quickly and we found seats right away! Great experience.

Kevin Markman: Great room for comedy, a date, getting together with friends in a basement with many rooms and a cool vibe. Quality comics and new experiences. Good and attentive service.

Dan S: Great time and great service for a weekend show I had tickets to see Pablo Francisco who unfortunately cancelled. The Loft emailed me to offer a showcase of local comedians that would fill the void that the cancellation made. They also gave a full refund and drink voucher tickets. They put us up front and we had a great time listening to several local comedians. Drink service was prompt and polite. All in all we had a great time!

Capital Laughs: what do users think?

Abin Dahal: They feature really funny comics. Even the free shows feel like you should be paying for them due to the quality production and line up. Their paid shows are phenomenal. Also super awesome that they allow new comics to perform at the free shows. Gives you a good range. Overall, if you’re a resident or visiting dc area, check out one of their shows.

Bob McDonald: Capital Laughs hosts free shows in DC every night of the week. Comedians range from new to experienced, but most are funny. Capital Laughs does a great job of showcasing talent and making sure everyone has fun! Great date night activity, too!

Prince Arora: I have attended 4 of their shows and all have been really fun with all different jokes. As a comedy lover Capital Laughs has become my favorite place to have an amazing time.

Cameron Blossom: DC has a great local comedy scene and Capital Laughs showcases that talent every night of the week. Catch an awesome show for free during the week or Fridays for cheap.

Charlie DeCell: The free shows are a great way to do something new and fun without spending a ton of money or being in the woods. Had a good time and intend to go back again.

Andrea Pelnar: Always a blast! DC has some awesome, local talent 🤘

Nyadia G: Great local talent. Intimate space. Wish they would update the seating chairs though; I was holding my breath as I sat on a chair with a shaky leg lol. We felt like I was gonna fall at any minute. The food is not good. The drinks are strong depending on who is pouring them. Just go for the jokes and get drinks downstairs and you’ll be fine.

Caroline Pandalove: Lots of laughter was had by all! So much fun my friends and I went to the Friday and Saturday show the first weekend of April. The host and all comedians the were hilarious! Much needed comic relief!

Hamd Arzoo: I was there last weekend and had great time with some friends that I went with. Comedy was good and the service was very pleasant. I look forward to attending another show!

Laura Sullivan: I was here last weekend, we had a blast. All the comedians were engaging and hilarious! It must have been some special night because Tony Woods dropped in and so did Sean Savoy, I was almost in tears of laughter and so was my husband, cant wait to come back. We arrived around 8:30pm to get seated and we got a few drinks at the bar - the waiter was so nice she said we could get our seats and she would come to us but we felt like hanging out at the bar a bit cause its such a cool bar, cant wait to come back!

Simply Julie: Generally a good time. Last few times going, the comics were awkward and not funny.

Elena Kefalogianni: My boyfriend and I had a great time! Funny comics and friendly staff

Taylor Wingfield: Went for what we thought was an open mic comedy night and it turns out Patton Oswalt came out to do a special set! Had a great time!

Lincoln Theatre: what do users think?

Chris Peele: The Aurora Aksnes concert was beautiful, however shorter than her other shows this US tour. An intimate setting with seating and first come General Admission. Unparalleled view of the stage, and ability to hold your seat once you have it if you have to use the restroom or grab drinks. No parking of course so plan on stressing trying to find a 24hr parking garage near by for about $30 for 4-24 hrs.

Jeff White: Great venue. Great acoustics. Nice to have drinks available. Parking is a challenge so figure that out beforehand. A lot of the street parking is permit only. PS - Colin Hay is absolutely fantastic. Great performance and great story teller.

Quentin Hodges: A beautiful, old theater in the heart of Washington D.C. Classic architecture with a great sound system. The seats are old, yet comfortable. Street parking may be difficult but we found a $10 parking garage less than a ten-minute walk to/from the theater. Prior to the show we had a great dinner at Ted’s Bulletin, also within walking distance.

Neil Crowell: Saw Mat Kearney on 4/24/22, a general admission show. Got in line at 6:15 for doors at 6:30 and was able to get in the 4th row, dead center. Amazing experience.

Steve Little: The show was incredible and the atmosphere was electric. It would have been great if the AC unit was working.

Eileen Potocnak Arnold: Great venue to see musicians/theater/etc. in an old space that has been nicely renovated.

Herbert Witzen: First time there. elegant, intellectual political small space. Think old church. They are replicating Greak dramatic plays from 500 BC. Near Dupont Circle & Embassies of poorer countries.

Dolf Kämper: Great production! Nice place! Needs a bar :)

Rob Williams: Visiting from out of town, we have been to shows all over the world, from Broadway to the West End, and to shows all over DC and we happen to catch Chicago at the Keegan Theater, and it was a fantastic production. The Keegan is a small, intimate theater with a neighborhood feel, but don’t let its size fool you. The production was first class! The actors are experienced and talented, the show was well produced, and the orchestra played beautifully. We will definitely be back, and highly recommend. Bravo!

Jessica Joyce: Very nice clean theatre- looks brand new. I saw An Irish Carol over the winter which was fabulous. Great story line & excellent acting, especially by the lead Kevin. Will definitely return again soon!

Renee Lorenz: Great show selections. Wonderful staging and direction. Wonderful acting. Been to two shows and going back for more! Plan to get to the theatre area about a half hour before Showtime as street parking spaces around this part of DC is difficult to find.

Warner Theatre: what do users think?

Phil Hardy: I love this theatre. The ornate architecture is simply sublime. I could stare at the walls and ceilings all evening. Acoustics are fine, seats comfortable and the bar lines move quickly. A take off a star because the toilets are in the basement. Takes awhile to get there and back.

Christina King: The historic Warner Theatre is a lovely experience. The atmosphere is stunning. Seats are very tight. So if you are tall definitely get an aisle seat.

Michael: Architecture is truly something to see. Acoustics very good, seats comfortable, bathrooms clean, ushers friendly and helpful, and A/C nice and cool. Every seat is a good seat, but recommend getting middle orchestra. Parking garage super clean and well lit and reasonably priced. ( I paid 18 bucks online for the whole day). Would go there again, for sure.

Louise Brady: The theatre is beautiful. We had a great view of the stage from the middle of the balcony seats. Though it looked like there would be a great view from anywhere in the theatre as its nicely laid out and not too big. Drink prices are quite high but they do accept card and cash. Water in a can was a bit different!!. Plus it was called Liquid Death!!! I would happily go to another event at this theatre.

Gary Lee: Saw Tedeschi Trucks in concert recently. The Warner Theatre was able to process guests through their COVID protocol, ticket verification and into our assigned seats quickly and efficiently. The concert was fabulous, the merch tables was manned by well-trained workers who kept the line moving; the snacks was in good supply and delicious warm pretzels was great!

John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts: what do users think?

Amanda Turcotte: I love being a member of the Kennedy Center. I joined during the pandemic because I wanted to support the arts and because a friend told me how much they enjoyed being a member. Fast forward a couple years later and I am finally able to enjoy both indoor and outdoor events at the center. The mission of the Kennedy Center really speaks to me and the community events as well as amazing performances throughout the year definitely make the membership worth while. My husband and I attended our first opera this year. We have also attended a few National Symphony Orchestra performances and a members only rehearsal. It was really special to watch the orchestra rehearse and see how the players and conductor come together to perform beautiful compositions. The Hall of States and Hall of Countries are really something to behold as well. There is so much history to learn about. The Reach is another building on the campus that is also full of great historical moments and an active work area for artists. The grounds have an amazing view of the Potomac River as well. There is parking on site for $25 and members receive a $5 discount on parking if you book in advance. We have not tried the on site restaurant yet, but plan to soon. Definitely check out an event and grounds of the Kennedy Center, if you are in the area. You will want to come back for sure. Thanks! :-)

Joana Ward: Lunar New Year Lanterns. Beautiful Display and family friendly. During COVID everyone was wearing masks even outside. Recommending you go early to park and although the line was long it moved quickly for how long it was (40 minutes). There was a free station for activities the kids could do. Bring two adults for kids so someone can stay in line while the other one has the kids exploring.

Jessica Isbell: We had an absolutely amazing time! The entire experience was just wonderful. My 6 year old thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Venue was incredible, staff exceptional. Weather was a perk too, perfect day. The outside area for intermission with views of DC is fabulous. We will absolutely be back. Thank you for adhering to masking and vaccination policies as well while bringing the arts back into these hectic times.

preservefootprints: We visit there on last 2 days of the Reach Winter Lanterns Festival. It was a huge area filled with lanterns displays celebrating 2022 Lunar New Year, it was so beautiful and bright. They have benches with heater around the open space. The organizer has worked excellent to manage the guests flow!

David Morar: A true home for the performing arts, the Kennedy Center has numerous stages from the Opera House to a black box theater and everything in between. Created for DC residents and tourists alike, the Center brings or originates amazing shows, events and workshops. It’s both the institutional house for the National Symphony Orchestra and the place that has daily free shows (of all types) at 6pm. It’s truly got something for everyone, and with the recent addition of The Reach its uhm, reach has broadened even further! You can never go wrong with the KC. Highly recommend visiting on a random day even if you’re not going for a show: having just celebrated 50 years, the center is proud of its history and showcases it among other revolving pieces in its vast and airy halls. Check out the terraces (ground level and “terrace” level) and enjoy sweeping views of the city. A true gem in the nation’s capital!

Mark Capriotti: Arrive early, grab a drink, and walk along the roof top. Perfect way to start the evening looking at many views of DC. Masks are required for the theater.

C F: Beautiful performing arts center with amazing friendly staff. Our family loves to attend shows as well as grab some snacks and walk the grounds. Some beautiful views of the river, some monuments and Georgetown. Also 2 gift shops, a cafe, and multiple snack stations. Underground parking also available or you can grab the shuttle which picks up and drops off at the GW metro station.

Grey TheCat: This place is a lot of things, historic, classy, artsy, fun, accessible, it offers a ton of free activities and events and variety. This is a cultural epicenter and one of the East coast best venues. Spacious, easy parking and overall inexpensive events make it accessible to most people even those on a small budget.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Co: what do users think?

Tabitha Whissemore: The box office staff was so kind and, thanks to vaccination/mask requirements, I felt safe being in the theater.

Andrew Harper: I recently saw a fantastic, progressive production. I ❤️ the artists and productions they support.

Marilyn Stark: Love this theater for their productions, often edgy and provocative, willing to take risks. Not a bad seat in the house.

M Dodd: Always a great place to see original theatre. Shows themselves can be hit or miss as with any form of entertainment. But the theatre itself is great, acoustic-wise, lighting-wise, etc. Thrust stage, box seating in the balcony, and great lobby area. Great staff, reasonable $$. For a small theatre they are in my top 10. Recently went there for a NYE show and event. Had a great time.

The Howard Theatre: what do users think?

Adam Arrico: First time in for a cozy concert. Drinks were a bit much but a good time.Went to a second concert, much more crowded. I feel like for a sold out concert they should have lowered the AC to account for hundreds of people being in there. Nice, still $67 for 4 drinks.

Vonda Mac: 5/29/22 Party with RE. Parking = nightmare W bathroom = clean and smokey. I think a bathroom attendant should be onsite at all times Theatre = revamped since I last been in it Smoking = not sure if smoking allowed but everybody smoking weed. Maybe security should pat men down for weed. Made it uncomfortable since it was crowded and super hot Overall = aint no party like an RE party 💃💃

Sawanto Talley: Always love my home team performance like this up coming event what I attend to go to my favorite rapper scarface will be at the Howard theater come August get your tickets now for his farewell tour

Romona Foster: We had a great time tonight at The Howard Theater. We went to see Marcia Griffiths (reggae artist). My friend purchased the tickets at the theater so she could see the seating arrangements. She went there because she wanted to make sure if we got a booth no one would be sitting in front of our table. She was told no one would be seated in front of us. When we got there. There were rows of chairs and people in front of our table. SMH 🤦🏾‍

J P Lars: An all around lovely venue for live music. Its awesome to see platinum album musical artists in an intimate environment that still has a grand scale feeling. General admission is fine and even offers good seating; while booths are affordable and are everything a booth(table) should be. The building is wonderfully renovated and parking was not a terrible ordeal.

Onyinyechi A: Always a good time here. Quick bites, drinks reasonable priced. Issues are toilets (or lack thereof) especially on the second level. Customer service is hit or miss. Might not see your waitress for long periods of time. Luckily, there is a bar so you can just walk over there.

Miracle Theatre: what do users think?

Luis Rueda: This is a great, old fashioned neighborhood movie theater. I went as a chaperone to a 4th grade class. The staff at the theater were simply great. They were patient when dealing with a large, chaotic bunch of kids. They were very welcoming and helpful. The theater brought back memories of when I was a kid. It is great having the Miracle Theater in the neighborhood. I highly recommend it.

dipika: Lovely, small theater perfect for intimate shows. The staff were friendly and quick to check vaccination records and orient us to the space. Because it was a vaudeville theater back in the day and continues to show movies, they sell typical movie theater concessions which is actually really fun for concerts. The seats and overall seating space are small and out of date, so not the most comfortable, but the overall experience makes up for it.

Andi Gunther: I went to a Laura Stevenson show last night. It was awesome! Super kind employees and awesome venue.

Danielle Scott: My first here. 5 mins into the movie we noticed the wrong movie was playing but that was fixed in a timely manner. The popcorn is decent, prices are reasonable. The seats gets uncomfortable after awhile but other than that I enjoyed myself will definitely be back.

Rohan Bhargava: Really nice venue for live music. Acoustics were excellent and service was great.

aaron ackley: This is a great venue. We were there for The Moth, but will be watching the calendar for other events. Drinks are generous and the popcorn reasonable.

Amy Suchodolski: Super cute with a lot of history. Attended a concert and the sound was wonderful.

Mollie Ellis: We had an incredible experience there for my sons bday. I rented the theater on a Sunday morning and the kids had a blast.

GALA Hispanic Theatre: what do users think?

Sandy Ovalle: It’s easy to access! I love supporting local art and this place has a lot of history. They are keeping masks on which I support. I was there for the screening of La Manplesa and loved the experience. They validate parking, but our ticket didn’t work.

Tan Sav: Small theatre. I thought the stage design was excellent. Sound got a bit loud here and there otherwise excellent. Centrally located near the metro and restaurants.

Rosana Barkawi: Almost 3 hrs of singing and dancing. Made my heart smile 😊

Brandon Johnson: Went here twice in a weekend for the reel affirmations film festival. Very nice space that keeps the charm of an old theater while still being updated.

Frank Canales: An entity that contributes to keep our culture flourishing.

Brian M: Great venue. The table church has a service here every morning on Sunday. Great acoustics, ample seating but I will say it’s a little tight. Cute lobby. On site parking is available.

Jean Horner: Went on a 3rd grade field trip, saw a play about Picasso. Perfect content for the kids, emphasized he zest for life and living to the fullest. Bilingual production. Really in impressed. Located downtown DC. Rough commute for showtime, got stuck in am traffic. Lovely theater, small and intimate, but professional.

Karen L: Have not seen a bad production here. Some I have liked more than others, but the theater is intimate and comfortable. Pick a higher seat if your Spanish is rusty. The subtitles worked well for my non-Sp friends.

Soky Losada: Great venue, one of the hidden gems in DC. Amazing production with local artists. I went to see Exquisite Agony, (Exquisita Agonía) if you don’t speak Spanish they have subtitles in English projected onto two screens. Fascinated by the high level of the Artists, definitely I will come back for more.
